Success on the platform requires shifting from core loyal audiences to casual, new viewers. Key elements like compelling thumbnails, titles, and attention-grabbing intros are vital for capturing interest. YouTube is a video platform and you might be wondering is it even worth publishing your podcast as a video on a video platform? To my opinion, podcast run exclusively as an audio platform limits your possibilities. Here are a few facts. Number one, YouTube has a huge user base. Over 2.5 billion people are using this platform every single month. Other platforms like Spotify also have a large number of users, but YouTube stands out with its ability to reach people who may not be necessarily using traditional podcasting apps. Interaction Possibilities. Greater ability to interact with the viewers through comments allows you to directly communicate with your audience pretty much live and build the audience around your podcast. Other platforms often offer limited opportunities to talk to your audiences and promotional tools. YouTube offers one of the strongest content promotional tools in the whole world, the algorithm. It allows you to focus solely on the content creation and use YouTube's recommendation system to distribute episode effectively to new audiences. On other platforms like Spotify, promotion relies mainly on rankings, search engines, playlists, creators do cross promotions, and this makes you do more job than you would necessarily want to do. Hi, I'm Nastya. And I know almost everything about promoting the podcast on YouTube. For the past 6 years, I worked at YouTube headquarters in London as a strategic partner manager, where my job was to be an internal consultant for creators, companies, and podcasts to grow them, their views, their reach, organically. I love the company and I've established my own consultancy called insider consulting, where I do pretty much the same. At YouTube, I was also part of the working group that was launching a feature of podcasts on YouTube and YouTube music. My client's latest success in the podcasting world was a Polish entrepreneur who came to me having just 30,000 subscribers on his show and it took him four years to grow it. And now he has over 140,000 subscribers, I think, very successful community business around his show. In my opinion, YouTube is the most powerful form of promotion on in the world, as someone outside of the podcasting world. I would suggest entering the video world immediately and if you only have the audio version, quickly transform it to video as well. It would be a shame to miss a promotion opportunity that both YouTube algorithm does, but also the repurposing opportunities video format provides because a video can be cut into clips, and shorts, and a few other pieces of content that will increase the reach of your content. When working with podcasters, I noticed that there are a few main differences between working on an audio show and on a video show. A few. Think about the way YouTube distributes your episode. People will usually find it on YouTube's homepage, where it's its main feed. This feed recommends your episode, and the recommendation is essentially a situation where your episode encounters a new person. So someone who has never met your show, who has never met you, who never listened to any of the other episodes. And here comes a big difference. I noticed that audio creators, they tend to focus on their core loyal audience from episode to episode. What pays off on YouTube the most, especially if you want to grow, especially if you want to grow aggressively, is to focus on the audiences who may not have met you, or who are at least your casual audiences. And there are a few optimizations for YouTube specifically that will help you do that. First is packaging, so titles and thumbnails. I noticed that audio creators tend to maybe neglect those or work on those last moment. Secondly is rip-proposing opportunities. An episode on YouTube is not only the episode, it can be cut into clips and shorts, and uploaded many, many times in this forms to increase the number of touch points with your audience. And last but not least, this start of your episode. We want to start the episode, catering again to the new audiences, and grabbing their attention, and allowing them to stay on the episode, which may make us change our approach today, intro of the episode a bit, cutting down jingles, cutting down graphics, or maybe cutting down too long intros. And I'll speak about those in the next few videos. Built around creative, business and technical skills, every session is led by top professionals and packed with practical insights.
