All right, you guys welcome back to the priestess perspective. I'm so excited for today's We have one of my bestest friends on the podcast today. My good friend best friend Andrea who is one of the most ambitious women That I know this is gonna be a treat of an episode because she is a fucking genius Andrea grew up in multiple countries in Latin America and she moved to America at the age of 17 and has since built Incredibly successful companies and became a legend in the space of marketing and entrepreneurship She is someone I look up to so much and is now also building her startup ginger She knows so much about the creator economy and about what it takes to become successful both in practicality and in mindset. So Andrea welcome to the podcast Oh my gosh, I need it. I want to just put you in my pocket and take you everywhere so I can introduce you So I can start taking into this. Oh, yeah, I won't do that for sure But thank you so much for having me. It's been such a journey with you and I feel like we've known each other our whole lives But it's crazy. It's only been like a year and a half. Yeah guys. Yeah. Yeah, no with the craziest part guys is that Andrea and I met We met and November 11th, I think November 11th I love the money 24. Yeah, that makes me so it will be to November 8th and 11th. Yeah. Oh my god Or 24 25 24 24 so we've known each other. Girl. I feel like I've known this girl my whole life. Yeah I don't I'm key to her. I'm key to put isn't a group. Wait. I want to tell you guys the story of how I met her Okay, we'll save it till the end so stay tuned to the episode But I the first question I need to ask Andrea is you were living undocumented and broke and have built a some figure business What is your most illusional belief about success? That is a great question Um, I there's this quote that I adore and that I did as soon as I heard it a few years ago I it just resonated so much with me that I think about this quote at least twice a week It's crazy and it's by Terry Devall Hudson and author and public speaker And she said the things that excite you are not random. They are connected to your purpose follow them and It all makes sense like in hindsight. It all makes sense because as a kid I would always follow exactly what it would excite me whether that was music or theater or Anything that I felt a spark with or some form of connection. I would Like unwaveringly unwaveringly is that a word out of I would just like pursue it and I would try it and I would fail at it And I would try it again or I would just like move on to the next thing that excited me and I think that it is That excitement and that calling that you listen to and you obey and you have blind faith in That is exactly what makes people successful So I genuinely believe that whatever excites me that there is a reason why that desire was put in my mind Why was planted in my soul and in my heart and it is a matter of time until it becomes available for me You could not agree more, Andrea like this is a fundamental belief I have which is that desire is destiny I always say desire is destiny number one number two. I genuinely believe that you can monetize your dopamine Oh, we're talking about ADHD a few minutes ago like the reason my ADHD is my greatest superpowers because I have monetized what excites me That's it straight the fuck up and so the other thing I always say is like we are all vessels of God Right God exists the universe whatever some higher power but for the but for that power to be Physically exerted into the world we are all vessels of that creation right of the physical manifestation of the divine and so I feel like when you have a calling You owe it to the higher power that brought you on to this earth to fulfill it 100 percent Well, have you ever even considered like this is something I believe and it might not be anything that everybody else resonates with but consciousness and Our thoughts are being someone out there separate like entities right like think about an artist that you don't know right now But I put you on a song and suddenly you're all about this artist because you tapped into that specific song or that specific frequency or whatever It was whatever you want to call it and to me the same thing is with ideas or with these like some rushes of dopamine like it Reminds me of a book big magic way. I was with Gilbert. Have you ever read it? No, it is incredible I recommend it to absolutely everybody. No, it is it tells you are it's essentially this belief that Ideas are entities almost spirits that visit you and they're like, hey, I'm here and I'm willing to collaborate with you Yeah, I'm like I want to collaborate with you Do you want to execute or not and then the more that you let them just hang there like imagine you invite somebody into your home And you just don't even acknowledge them don't offer them water don't hang out with them What are they gonna do? They're gonna walk out and find a neighbor's home. Yeah to hang out with the same thing with ideas That's why I know this ever happened to you, but you have an idea. Yeah, and you don't act on it And then suddenly I don't know Bipita Perez over there comes over and does it herself and you're like heck like Did you hear the thing on I saw a TikTok and it was like I forget the exact what it said, but it was like when Michael Jackson That's in the book. Oh shit Michael Jackson prints. Yeah, yeah, so Michael Jackson He would get an idea at like 3 a.m. I need to gather his team and be like we need to go film this song We need to go. What's the word not film? Oh, he wanted to change the stage something about the stage right? Yeah or or but no Well the what I saw in TikTok it was like Michael Jackson. We get an idea for a song at 3 a.m He'd be like everyone we're we're gonna meet at the studio right now We're recording this song right now, and you know as team would be like come on as 3 a.m. What the hell? He's like if we don't get this out tonight, Prince will get it off tomorrow literally 100% the story is He was about to put up a performance and the stage was already built and then he wakes up and he's like I want to change the stage. I had this idea for a waterfall. I think it was what it was right. I don't know Maybe I'm not remembering the story right and his manager goes you're insane everything's already ready and then he goes No, you don't understand if I don't do this right now Prince is gonna do it next week Yeah, and then they have this constant beef back and forth the universal word speed The universal reward speed I genuinely believe that again, like I said we're all vessels of God And so it's like it's not and I actually said this before on a TikTok and someone was like Actually got a lot of hate people were like But the the right thing won't pass you and it's like I Agree with that in theory, but like in actuality what I believe is like There are certain things that are beyond you Right, like you building the business. That's not about you. That's about your obligation to the world And if you're not gonna fulfill your obligation to the world someone else will Because I don't know what it does for you sure things that are meant for you won't pass you by but the things Are meant for the world will also not pass the world by and if you were the one that was chosen to be you know The thought leader for this or for that or start the business for you know, whatever and you don't do that Yeah, it will come into existence one way or another, right? Because if someone else is medicine it's someone else is this like it's also someone else's need and so if I'm not willing to give you that relief or that new idea That's gonna elevate you and why not God is gonna find somebody else to do it 100 because right and so something I like to think of because I also get very caught up in this idea of like what you know what's for use for you and whatnot and like as much as I also agree with the whole like the universe for word speed and fortune favors the bold, which is essentially the same thing Yes, I also think that a comforting way to put it so that people don't panic is Let's say that opportunities are like cars, right? Yeah, there will be a moment where like a nice, I don't know to you it up, right drives by You can get on it or not. I'm not now. There will be a moment where a nice Mercedes walks like drives by and you want to like hop on there And what not there will be a time where lambo stops by and that's the big ass opportunity, right? And it's like Yes, other cars are gonna come maybe another Lambo will come because there's an abundance of them But the truth is some opportunities you have to be able to have the discernment to hop on them. You are so you have to understand Okay, is this I only this is my self. Yes, is this opportunity a Prius or is it a Lambo? Is it a train that comes every hour that could just hop on later? And so when I was like I'm gonna give up on this business idea or I'm gonna give up on my startup I'm gonna give up on this and whatnot and I'm like this is the Lambo This is the Lambo and so I can let it go and we'll find out the Lambo because I truly believe there will be others yes But it also be really cool to ride on this Lambo right now. Right. There are opportunities that are just like a nice little Mercedes that I have to do at 2019 Mercedes or whatever and I'm like this is cool But I like my lambo so I'm just gonna go back to it. So it's like have the discernment to understand The value of an opportunity to make sure that it doesn't pass you by and sure it'll come again Maybe in other forms and in other intensities But how beautiful is it to trust yourself in the divine timing that is showed up at the right time and you right now and you always know So is there a formula to luck or attracting these like Lambo opportunities in your life like have there been things You do Andrea where it's like because I did this I Attracted the Lambo to me you know that there is a quote that I really like and I'm probably gonna butcher it because I also don't know how to pronounce these words Properly in English, but it is God's tears, but you must bro. Oh And it's these idea that she said Bible today. I said Bible today. I'm apparently But it's truly such a deep question for me. I'm actually reading a book called Filled by randomness. It's a book and I'm starting to read it right now and it talks about like whether luck is actually a thing that plays a role in like very successful traders and Can we quantify it and are all these people trying to sell you all these things that I'm messing on? Are they actually great at pattern recognition or did they just get lucky? It's so many thoughts like this. It's interesting So to answer a question is I truly believe luck is a thing like statistically At one point like you you must come across something magical, but you must be prepared to Oh, yes, they're I'm forgetting that there was a TikTok where it was like luck equals A luck inspiration. It's my sonica. It's a cool by sonica and it's luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Oh That part that part that part. Yes, and I think that's the thing right is I think um for so many people It's like I also think people don't see the opportunity a lot of the time. I know because in today's day and age Where you have your phone and you can post a video and change your life overnight on their present The part that people don't have isn't the opportunity. It's the preparation and the speed right I always say the the um Like the formula of inevitability like making something inevitable is speed Zero resistance and identity like that's it if you move fast you decide it is yours and you remove and you literally drop everything else Oh, this is a big thing like I was talking to Rob on the pod you guys go listen to the podcast and he was like He was like there are certain things in life where it's like the Lambo opportunity where it's like you have to drop Every yeah, like that's it like that is it you know and you'll know like I have every time that has happened It's like I fucking know. I'm about to launch an app guys this app Let's talk about that right. Let's talk about tech. Okay. Let's talk about tech real quick because Both of us are entering the tech world as women who are immigrants who look like this right non-technical or non-technical But can fight vibe code really fucking well. Oh, yeah, um What has entering tech as a Latina as former undocumented like how is that Process been for you because I think like we had a really deep discussion about this in an overriders thing when it was like um That like I have personally never looked at something and thought like because I'm a woman That I almost find it more empowering to be one of the few right that gets to do something and to be able to be a role model for others Right, and I think like you Andrea What makes you so special about that you're entering tech unlike a lot of other tech founders is that you're one of the few Hmm. Thank you. And so like what does that operative like first of all? What does that feel like in the pressure of that? Yeah, what does the pressure feel like? Yeah, well, I think it's important And it's something that it's such a part of another conversation, but it's to me it's really important to always acknowledge systemic change, but not let it Sit on my shoulders right for me to carry forever and I think that as immigrants we almost feel guilty when we allow ourselves to expand or to fulfill dreams or desires because we know how much it took to get there and how many people came before us exactly And it but it is that guilt that keeps us stuck in that same place, you know Even when you think about and I'll answer the other the what you actually asked me in a second, but even when you think about like um What a lot of I would say not a lot, but maybe like A high percentage of the reason why at least in the Latino community so many people Stay broke is because They saw what happened to their parents, you know like our our parents probably gave their parents everything after you know Because they saw oh my gosh my grandparents went through all this much I'm gonna try to like retire them and do this. I'll cost and then Now as children of parents who did that and gave us everything we have this like Feeling and I'm like, okay, I need to retire my parents. I need to do this at all costs and whatnot And I had to make the executive decision for the rest of my lineage to put myself first wow And I Hard-breakingly had to look at my parents sometimes and be like, you know what? Like yeah, I can't this month I can't help this because then I would be the one getting affected because I would be the one and like ending it up at the hospital And how can I help you from there? So I made peace with the fact that I had to be a bad daughter Oh a period of time and people don't understand like oh, it's a period of time And I know people are gonna come for me in the comments me like well, they gave you everything how dare you and it's like okay But I get me to give myself the rest they gave me what they could and I'm gonna give myself the rest and now I'm in a position where I retire them and But still it's like it's this idea that like I guilt Is not responsibility like those are not the same thing One carries shame the other one carries empowerment, and so to answer a question entering this space as someone who's had her limitations it makes me feel Challenged, but it also makes me feel blessed absolutely blessed and protected to know that I even get the chance to even think about starting in that industry Right, and so I don't know. I'm just really excited to be able to explore and learn and fail and win and all everything in between and hopefully hold the door open for other Latinas. So Yeah, it's okay. I want to get real though this time. I want to talk Like the brutal truths and realities and the vulnerabilities that comes with doing something that scares you Because I think a lot of people look at us Andrea and it's like we have the success we have and we lead with that Yeah, I think a lot of people don't see what's behind the curtain right right The conversations we have on the camera right of like to Paris Huh, they're like to pay this one. Go back to you. Yeah, we can talk about it because it's like This is what no one will talk about like a lot of these people When rarely show you the side of like they'll talk about failures in the past right not what they're going through right now It is so scary to have everything and then hold the pressure of I could lose it all of yeah or having to maintain what you've already built Or having to outdo yourself constantly um and I think like so often people think the fear of being seen as the worst at the beginning But for me it's the opposite the fear of being seen only got bad when I had it all yeah When I'm already what do you think that is like because I know why for me at least it shows up But why do you think that in the beginning Sarah who was making tarot videos did you not care? We were actually just watching some of these videos the cringes shit in the world and I didn't care Not crazy at all at times really cool, but at the time I was like First of all, I had nothing to lose right. I had nothing to lose that I was like number one if this fails who cares like I'm starting to be a teacher like at this point it can only go up Um, like I was like I've nothing to lose. I don't Who is watching this? I don't know any of the people who watch this You even made a separate account in everything. Yeah, like you don't want even your friends and family to find out right And it will people obviously did and like I think at the time I just didn't care because um And it did in in spurts. I don't want to make it sound like I didn't like there were times where like I'd have a crush You like saw it and what's not to me and I'd be like, uh And that's a big one we should talk about um big one. I think that a lot of women entrepreneurs can relate to but um I didn't care then and the reason I care now is because I have an image. I feel that I have to maintain Um There's a lot more comparison, right? And I think um, I think additionally it's like You start to realize that your online life has real world and repercussions in the um in your life Whereas back then it didn't it was like what happens online stays online. Yeah, I've found that right But now it's like what happens online affects the friends that I'm going to make it affects the boys I'm in a day like it affects Everything um and there's a lot more people I respect watching me who have a certain image Of me that I don't want them And I think sometimes what brings me success does not necessarily correlate with what I believe people will respect Right. Oh, that's so relatable. And I think that to me too like there was such a beauty of being scrappy And to me in the beginning because you're like it almost feels fun. You're just testing. Yeah Because why what do I lose? I would ask like what do I lose by doing this all right? I'm a it's like I was at a job that I wasn't getting fulfilled by and It was either that job Trying to find another job and work for somebody else and like pay my life still because I hate being told what to do Or make some little videos and see what changes to me honestly when I when I started making videos as well It was almost like this idea of I just want to see how far I can take this bit It was like how far can I take this and I was like as soon as I get to 10k I'm gonna just stop because like I just want to see if I can get to 10k in this form like that was like a whole goal And then I made a whole business out of it You know what I mean a seven-figure business out of it and it's like By the way, I didn't even get to introduce you fully like Andreas worked with some of the most insane people in the industry like She was working with T.A. Stowe Um she worked for TikTok like she's A legend in this space like to say the least so it's like I appreciate that so um to me was this idea that like nothing changes If nothing changes, so I'm gonna try this But then as you said like now right incredible people Have me on their contacts and I don't know if I can post a little the same little tiktok with my seeing my dog and whatnot But if you think about it like that is the thing and like I relate to what you said a lot of like what made me successful And what makes me successful is not necessarily what people what people I think people would respect what exactly But then again I stopped creating for a little bit Why did you take a quite significant break or step back right because something we talked about yesterday was like self-sabotage right And I'll at this stage when you're At this point where I think this is what affects a lot of already successful entrepreneurs is You get to a point where like you start Feeling a little bit resistance and sometimes you don't even notice it. Oh, it starts with the like Hmm like should I post this on Instagram right starts with like Girl, oh, let's talk about it. It like it starts with the like I know that for my app to do well I have to post the really cringe videos right And I know that would make it successful, but I'm Hezotating and resisting right that is self-sabotage. Yeah, what are some ways that you've noticed you've self-sabotage And why do you think it's happening? Oh my god. I've been self-sabotaging for I would say I solid Three years and I've blamed it and everything but myself. I've blamed it on my depression, which is very real I've blamed it on my anxiety of blaming on my PCOS. I've blamed it on everyone's grandma And there comes a point where you just have to acknowledge like Was it really about those things or were you just praying that you had an excuse that was enough to sustain it right and I think the two things can be true. You can be absolutely burned out or tired or You know your body can still be in fight or flight and you also know that a very big way to get out of that is the longevity of The things that you're working towards. So if I know that let's say that what I need let's pretend that I'm some other person what I need I don't want this way. Let's say that what he is a sabbatical right If I don't put the work right now Through and I don't power through this feeling of sadness or imbalance or this about I'm never gonna get that sabbatical. So it's like which one do you want more right? You know what I mean? And so I realized that I just didn't want it bad enough Was it that or that? Is was it that you didn't want it bad enough or that the fear was bigger than what you wanted The fear was bigger than what I wanted, which we did not We wanted it bad enough. Right. That is true. Yeah, that is true Like you said something really cool to me the other day, which is like something about conditions Like if you make some conditions. What was that? So I'll explain this so like So I have different opinions on this because I I personally thought for so long It's like someone doesn't want something bad enough Like for example like I know people who I love who like really struggle with weight loss I was one of those people and It's like this constant like I And I know they want it. I know they want it and I do believe if you want something bad enough What's the quote? It's like a person with A why I can find almost anyhow, right? I do believe but I think unfortunately some people's fear is so high The no matter how much they want it the fear will always be larger and so I think so often We think the solution is to increase the desire or like the the how much you want it But I think sometimes it's like what if we just get rid of the fear entirely Wow, I love because then you can manifest anything whether you want it or not Whether it's good for you bad for you even on the days you don't you know what I mean So that's why like I like I teach one of the methods I teach is like lower the stakes because Of course when you go in with the mindset of I have to build the number one tech brand number one startup in the world Holy fuck that pressure would suffocate me. I wouldn't be able to move I wouldn't be able to make any progress. Right. What if I say I'm doing a little side project with my friends Yeah, um, let's work on it when we're drunk and let's do it for fun. Let's vibe code it Suddenly, you're building a billion dollar company as for shits and giggles, right? You've lowered the stakes and this is a rule I need everyone on this podcast to like fucking get this through your head. This is gonna change your life The best things in your life are always created in the lowest stakes You're gonna have the best dates of your life With the guy that you like the least you're gonna because you're not nervous, right? You're gonna per your best podcasts episodes You're gonna be with your bestest friend right when you when the stakes are low My best podcast episodes were filmed on a $10 microphone in my fucking old dorm rooms like yeah Because the stakes were so low right and so instead of Thinking how can I swim against the grain? How can I lower the stakes? How can I pretend that what I'm doing Is bullshit in a joke? And that's the paradox is you think by lowering the stakes by telling yourself this doesn't matter You think you won't do as well But the funny thing is you're actually gonna perform your best when you give the least fox and that's a lot of detachment 100% it's like the other day you were like let's go to the jam and I'm like I don't want to walk you're like girl just come walk five minutes five minutes Ended up doing 15 minutes, which is not fantastic. I was really tired. I had just landed. Yeah, but I did The thing minutes they buy done because I was already there, you know, I was already Available I made myself available to the idea of What would this look like for me like there's a quote that you also say all the time as well, which is um I will do whatever it takes or I'm gonna give myself permission to do whatever it takes in order to get to my goal. Is that how to yes? Yeah, yes The reason I've been able to manifest everything I want is because I give myself permission to do whatever I need to do No matter how Like stupid to make it happen no matter how different it is than how other people do it. So for example like If I really want like I always use this example, but it just like works so well um If I want to lose weight and I know that all it so this is called first principles thinking how you apply this to life is First principles for me to lose weight all that needs to happen is less calories in than calories out or whatever the fuck the map is That's it how you get there is your choice and I tell this in my inevitability class. You guys should um grab it. I'll link it down below In the class I talk about how you become the inventor of how you get to get your desire Beautifully said you are the inventor of how your desire comes into your life It doesn't have to be the way everyone else did. Oh, right So for some people that's gonna be olympic great. You're the inventor. You choose how you get there For me it was I booked a flight to Europe and I was willing instead of being willing to slave away at the gym I said I could just spend like two grand go to Europe come back with a snatch body and that is what happened I know it's your way permission. Yes, and I was like I'm willing to do whatever it takes Meaning I'm willing to spend the money to go to Europe and take the time off because I wanted the body bad enough Think that's why this lower the stakes method also really works because you what we would tell I don't know maybe I'm wrong But I wonder if we would tell this to John from San or fun John like would he that he wake up and said I'm gonna just build a side project Probably not he's a very very like ambitious man And so I doubt that he but that works for him right maybe for him the idea of waking up and saying I'm building the next unicorn Was a way for him to manifest that and to work for somebody else That might not be the method so you being the inventor of that method right is what's gonna at the end of the day makes you succeed Exactly right So I think it's this idea of like finding what works for you five amp up doesn't work for you wake up and nine But make sure you come into it right like maybe walking 15 key steps a day is not reasonable for you because you I don't know you're a nurse and you work twenty for seven Get a little walking pad while you're like just watching Netflix and be compressing and try to get at least five thousand I'm sure this is huge and this is I think we need to hear this yeah because I think we're at a point now where we're like again the stakes keep raising that's why it gets harder because in the beginning There was enough like the stakes were so low of course you were winning. Yeah, and now as the stakes get higher. It's like We're like okay, I you know we want these crazy things to happen and it's like Why does it have to be like this like why do I have to do it the way everyone else is doing or like I think that's what's We like that exactly we talked about this. That's what's been keeping me stuck talk I don't mind like I am I don't mind sharing as much obviously there are details that I'll keep between me my therapist But A lot of it has been even like the evolution of social media you and I started when Very much UGC video UGC style like videos where a thing where you could just pull up your phone and talk to the camera And like have it be enough if you were a marketer in the space or if you or you could just point to have the screen I remember like free resources that at that you could just point at the screen and then like have them show up Along some some random song And unfortunately at least in the marketing realm of the creator economy experts realm and whatnot That has shifted a lot where people are getting very expensive cameras or they're very like I want to talk about quality editing and all And stuff and then you've remained like with your content super consistent throughout the years where like in every single Them hit and hit and hit and hit and hit right because you can you didn't reinvent the wheel If you just find more works and repeat it and refine it along the way Whereas I just became an efficient out of experimenting as a former self sabotage. Oh And we don't talk about that. I know we're like I'm exploring. Okay. How long are you going to be exploring girl The map is right here The treasure is right there and you're taking 5,000 different rights to get to it Routes to get to it and it's like how long are you willing to Put up the excuse that you're just believing your best life that you're just enjoying your 20s That you're just exploring the different cameras and different editing software and different editors How long are we going to utilize that one perfectionism is self sabotage perfectionism is self-suffering How much like the example I gave in my class was I was like you know yourself sabotaging when you're spending more time looking up the mic for your podcast Then actually sitting and filming the episode 100% and everybody says that right everyone says like oh the first one's going to be bad But by the 50th version you're going to have like a great podcast and whatnot and we do like we're tired of hearing that advice But the reality there's truth to the basic principles in life. Yeah And if you read every self-help book ever it says the same thing yb's it's truly simple It's really simple you could just pull out your phone record a video and it's somehow landing somewhere else And you can refine it later, but people don't like they don't take it seriously enough I just think the minute you realize that the the biggest indication of success and just anything in life Is that speed will outperform anything right speed and obsession Outperform skill it outperforms talent it outperforms and I and you just have to accept that as a law Yeah, and the minute you accept that as a law you will win like I will never so it's just Period Andrea, what is your like biggest fear right now? My biggest fear is so like it's failing in public. Let's talk about that. It's failing in public You have no idea how nerve while you have idea, but I'm talking to the viewer right now if you Haven't like started a business or if you don't build in public You have no idea how often us creatorpreneurs go to sleep at night being like heck I just posted a video promoting my company and if it doesn't do well people are gonna know because they're gonna Naturally see that I don't post about it anymore or this or that and you know This happened before where I launched I remember I launched a series in Christmas like vlogmas that I try to do and like didn't even get to five days of it And that's a form of failing public, but it's a very low stakes. I don't care about that right I had a podcast that I would like constantly nurturing it was really cool and I stopped posting about it People were disappointed like I kept getting comments of like dude This was my favorite thing to look forward to on Thursdays and now it's gone and I'm like ah that sucks Sorry, but again a little bit of low stakes because it wasn't something I was like That I that I told everybody I was gonna take to the moon right now when you're building and a business And you have co-founders and talk about like even ginger. Yeah, and like companies and whatnot like Building ginger which is an AI manager for creator. I give it check it out. It's incredible. I use it all the time. Thank you. It's um she has A soft. Is it on the upstore technically yet? Yeah, yeah, it is, but we're white listing people in like we're like Okay, so do you have her like check out? Yeah, I mean yeah, probably check out ginger for creators ginger for creators.com It's incredible. It's basically a software tool where um the way I use it is like it will shift through your gmail If you're a content creator and find brand deals for you and like help you negotiate them Incredible product. Thank you so much, and but here's the thing like I don't I'm not Stanford graduate. I'm not I don't know what java script is my have incredible technical co-founders But I don't have any of that the first time meeting with an investor for me was last year Um, I'm I've honestly gotten through life in a very scrappy way And so a lot of these beliefs just started growing a lot of you started beliefs that you're like what are some of the thoughts you're feeling? No, I think all of them are tied to like public failure Because once you Once you put something out, it's really hard to take off right and so and then I go back and forth with them with my therapist And it's like what does failure really? I was about to ask you like what does failing mean to you? Well to my to my insecure self. It means oh I it didn't work out and I have to tell everyone it didn't work out, right? But like that's to my insecure insecure self. I think that's what it means But for my secure self, I know that a failure would be not even trying it Because I'm like letting go of a potential life path that could have been great And so it's almost like talking between this so it's like always talking between these two selves and Obviously, one always wins when there's faith integrated and when there's more of like a spiritual barrier Like thing like all like both voices come down But I think that the reason why it's it goes back to primal thinking which is You know when we were hunter-gatherers and whatnot like the second that one person was a little off or did something wrong and whatnot Like you're out of like shunt and you're out of the pack and you're like alone and whatnot And I think that it's that's somewhere in the back of my brain. She's right Um and also because I I really love my haters if I have any like I hope they're not right for sure have one At least But I really hope they're not right You know, and I think that it's like that feeling of like I hope I'm not wrong Well, you know, that's what it comes down to. It's like I hope I wasn't wrong about how much I believed in this Yeah, it's like almost like when that guy Fucks you over and your friends don't want to say I told you so right But you know that they're thinking it and you're like heck But they love you so they would never walk away from you But imagine like now so many strangers that believed in you that felt inspired by you and whatnot being like Ooh, you know, so that's a what you didn't think that fear is costing you Oh like like on a tangible level like like let's costing me money Money that could come in and cut money that I've already invested. Oh, it's costing me time Mm-hmm. It's costing me energy because even when I am not working on it Whether it is because inspiration hits or because guilt comes in and goes why are you not working on it? It takes energy to sustain both. It's an energy leak It's costing me relationships to where I keep sometimes saying I'm gonna do this and sometimes I don't fully do it on time or Even the dynamic with my co-founders, you know where the three of us are in it and They have their separate lives too and like I want to make sure that all three of us are in in in a very good place in harmony to like Make sure that there's no resentment being built up in anyone's heart, you know I mean, so it's costing me a lot and what if that fear didn't exist? How differently do you think you would move? I? Would move faster for sure. I would move scrapier. I would do exactly what I did in the beginning when I started my other business and It's hard. It's hard to even like rationalize that because again like back then I had like to want to followers right now I have a significant amount more and including the CEO of Microsoft AI the CMO of Microsoft the CEO of LinkedIn like I have people that are like There and they're watching and they go hey, how's your venture going and it's paralyzing, you know, and and Yeah, I don't think white men struggle with this as much right but It is definitely a result of like my immigrant mindset and this idea of I should have probably taken the safer path Come lawyer or a doctor or I probably should have I should have I should have I should have I should have and it's all these like thoughts. It just come in right But I am aware the worst part of all is that and there's this thing that once somebody told me like you're willing to admit That you know exactly what you need to do in order to make this work and you're not doing it That's a loser the loser's not the one who actually like tries to do it and fails that it the loser is the one who says I'm gonna do I'm gonna do I'm gonna do and doesn't do Because they're missing out on a life that could be great right and so I'm aware of that and that's something I'm working through and we've been working through it together Which has been really beautiful to just even have you yeah, and Eyes like dynamic to just be something that we both like nurture as we're going through this because you've experienced it in your own different way Well, first of all, I just want to thank Andre for being so vulnerable because again like no one's talking about this So I think like I want to talk about it Um, and I'm gonna give you guys an example of how this shows up has showed up very recently I think because this is it's a stupid example But it's just like a very clear one that I think um a lot of maybe business or even just not even business owners Like this. I feel like anyone can relate to um, so I noticed again a lot of the times you don't even notice the self-satisfaction and that's where it's scary That's like really a scary place to be in which is why I made my inevitably class you guys should join it because I teach you how to spot it um, but I didn't even notice I was doing this but or consciously like I knew I was doing it, but I didn't consciously understand why I noticed I was like resisting not the kind of content I was posting on tiktok, but the content I was posting on instagram I noticed there were certain posts that I would do on tiktok that would do well that I wasn't posting on instagram and I didn't like clock it at first and then I was like And this is the the thing that that changed my life as I realized the minute there's resistance self-satisfaction active right the minute There's any resistance or hesitation there is self-satisfaction you have to intervene and so I was like Okay, I'm resisting like why am I resisting and I realized it was because I was like There are one people that I respect that watch me that I'm like very I've noticed that I was like very scared of like what their perception would be of those videos and I was almost like Posting from their gaze. Yeah, and second if you want me to be fucking for real like um like guys that I had crushes on I was like I'm just being fucking for real I was like um if this guy sees this he's gonna think I'm mentally ill and insane Because I'm teaching people how to manifest that they're fucking x back like I don't know so like And obviously like part of it is like this is my job right but part of it is like this is me You know like this is me this is me this is who I am I've dedicated my life to this work like and it's very vulnerable right it's That's the thing about entrepreneurship is it's so vulnerable right you have to be seen For the good the bad the ugly like it is self-development on fucking crack so It's been really scary and I noticed I was really resisting and I was like Oh my god, this is costing me so much so much right so much money and my following wasn't growing as fast I was like this is costing me everything that I am and impact myself and impact There's so much out there that needs exactly what you're what like what you're willing to give them and You're not giving it to them because because what's a little bit is watching new videos because my like there's a creator out there that When you really need somebody help them with the randios and to make them or money or and why not and like I'm just here sitting like Hey guys, I've gone yeah to business coaches. I pay a lot of money to do for this problem And no one's given me the solution. So what's the solution? So I'll tell you so well, I'm still figuring it out for one I just want to be transparent about that But yeah, it's hard because I would go to people and they'd be like well Um, you know, they'd say things like oh, but people will respect you because that's what made you you and it's like I see it But I don't feel that like I logically know what you're saying is true And this is the problem a lot of people is like with self sabotage is like you logically know Right, but you can't feel the safety right and I realized what was missing with self sabotage the problem is you don't feel safe Yeah, your body will self sabotage anything that doesn't feel safe. So I was like okay Well, yes, eventually I want to get to a point where I feel unaffected by their um opinions Of course, that's the goal. That's the goal. That's the dream. That's the goal Right now I don't feel safe with that But I still need to get my job done and I still need like it's the same with the body the weight loss the whatever It's like I still need to get through the results that I want I still want to build the dream life even while I'm scared and like I don't feel that fully yet So what I switch my focus from was instead of For now instead of trying to like remove that feeling. I was like what can I do to feel safe to lower the stakes right to remove resistance And I was like, okay, what if I hid my stories from these boys what if I created a separate account for certain types of posts You know, what if I posted it to trial reals first right what if I scheduled the post instead of you know whatever and slowly But surely you do these small things and you're like wait, yeah, it's not the end of the world I am safe the thing is when you think so big you're like oh my god, fuck I need to stay safe your body will shrink when you do it in small increments Sometimes it's like wait Honestly, like I'm safe my body feels safe. We're good. And now I don't care now. I don't care as much, right? We need to work your way up to that exactly this idea of trying to solve the ish this like primal instinct to want to be Like and to want to feel like I'm part of a community will always outweigh the the cost of greatness, right? But if you take these little steps It'll slowly start feeling more normal and it's begun. It's eventually going to become Familiar, which is exactly where self-sauve attach wants you anyway Let's make a new familiar. Let's make a new baseline, right? And I think that people don't think about that even It's like if people self-sauve attach to the the baseline if they what is it they fall to their limitations? Yeah, you don't rise to your desire you fall to limitations of yourself conscious mind if that's the truth Then that means I would also apply like okay. Let's create new limitations, right? It might be blocking these people It might be having an assistant in the middle of nowhere post it for you, so I don't have to look at your phone Find a way create the safety. Yeah, you're the inventor. How it comes. Yeah, that's huge Um, I want to wrap with um, I think just like Talking about because I think something I love about my friendship with Andreas. We are fucking we've dog in us We have the dog in us. We are so Relentless and I'm sitting like I'm a crazy person We are so relentless. We are so um like my word of the year is unrelenting or what is it yeah unrelenting? My word of the year is unrelenting and I think that's something I admire um about The people that I surround myself with and it's a rare quality to be this unrelenting Um, like to to like I've been talking about like um, I guess at this point I'm just like public about it like I'm launching this app and I'm just like I will fucking do Anything right. I will do whatever it takes because this is personal. It's personal. Oh yeah come back The comeback is an apology to myself period this time the comeback is personal and because of that I'm willing to do whatever it takes. Yeah, and I think in life you maybe have like three Like three times in your life. Maybe that that really fucking happens And what that like you have to fucking go so I'm curious like for you Has there been a moment where you're like I'm willing to do anything. Well, I think that for me is You know, I I've seen the other side of my reality of my I've seen the other path You know, and I think that when you're exposed to a version of you that scares you and terrifies you as much as you have grace for them and love them and whatnot like And I was broke in a tiny studio in Festa with the roaches I would get home and like eat whatever was on the counter if I could and then dress up and use the money that I had saved up for rent For drugs and alcohol. I'm gonna. I saw that and I was like never again. So I think that for me I wake up every morning and I'm like you know what never again Never again. Well, I'd be in the and you know, sometimes it it changes never again. Sometimes it's about that season in my life Sometimes about like never again. Well, I have this type of relationship never again Well, I have this type of friendship never again. Well, I have this type of dynamic never again. Well, I have this problem with money Like it's how many times are you willing to say never again? Yeah, and do it in a way where you feel it in your bones and your soul where just the the physical reaction of you even Going back to that reality is repulsing Like to me, it's repulsive when I think of the choices that I wouldn't make and again, I I made my peace with her right and I love her. She got me here. Yeah. I didn't fucking hate what she was doing right and she was doing it from a place of trauma and from not knowing any better. I was also very young but I Never never again and so I think that that's how it manifests for me as how many times are you willing to put yourself through a groundhog day and to do it all over again and blame it on everything else. I know people who blame it on their parents and Rightfully so I and there's new ones to this. Yeah, so I'm gonna speak very generalized So for people in the comments like just know that I'm more emotionally intelligent than it seems like I'm aware of the systemic and historical and so many different nuances to this, but There's at some point that you have to take responsibility what happened to you was not your fault But is your responsibility to deal with it because you deserve a life you're excited about all of us Like how dare you sit in your freaking couch and be like well I was because my mom treated me like this It was because my friend did this to me. It was because my ex did this to me and sit there and feel sorry for yourself and not get up Like you deserve a good life girl. And how sweet will that victory be when you had every card Stacked against you. You had everything. Yeah against you and you still fucking one like oh sweet Well that victory be like I dream of that yeah, I'm like bring the child like I love challenge. Yeah, I love adversity Because there is nothing like to wrap up like the question that date my answer to this question is yeah, I'm curious here like The dog was built in me because I had no other choice. Yeah, plain and fucking simple. We had no choice as immigrants girl It built who I am brick by fucking brick. I Will wrap with this like my I got really mad at my mom one day and I was like you don't even acknowledge the shit We went through growing up. You don't take any responsibility for how hard my childhood was and like I don't want to get into personal details But like there I just feel like it was never acknowledged how difficult yeah Literally growing up in poverty in New York City with four fucking siblings and a tiny ass apart like that was not easy Um no acknowledgement and she was like that Sarah you wouldn't be exactly who you are You didn't go through that and I was like I was really mad when she said that first and then I realized she's 100% right and I wouldn't have traded it for anything I'm like if that's the price I had to pay for who I am for the rest of my life Okay, I went through hell for a few years of my whatever But the rest of my life I get to exist in who I am and that was the cost of it I'd pay it any day. It's just crazy to me like what do you mean if you know you get this car you buy a car But what does it mean car today like you buy a car and use you're gonna have it for 10 years You're gonna take care of that car right you have this Existence for the rest of your life And you're still gonna bring up Like old reasons to not go for it and again there's new ones to this but It just puts things into perspective of like Yes, it made you who you are and yes, you could just sit there blaming or forever like imagine if you would imagine if you could just sit there But well, it's because I didn't have like xYZ going I'm gonna know but no you didn't you were like you know what like Oh, well, and then just just kept going I think so many people are so caught up in the deck of cards. They're like I need a new deck like I want a new deck No, this is why I love poker Yeah, and this is why I love poker because deal me any cards and I'll bluff my way out. Yeah, I will still win It doesn't matter what cards you're dealt if you can bluff You can still win and that's why I love manifesting literally Stop trying to change the deck of cards and just play with the cards that you have to the best of your ability Yeah to wrap up guys last thing The quote that Rob said on my podcast. He was like I won't say it's fair, but I will say it's worth it And I think I we both live by that Andrea, thank you so much for coming on the pod.
