You Asked. We Answered—Part 1

We thank you for joining us on this Thursday June 11, 2026. Me and you for two those are the rules of engagement. It's the fastest two hours in sports talk radio, but I don't know if two hours is going to get it done. You know the password 1 800 919 3776. To paraphrase the great Jack Buck. Do you believe what you just saw it was amazing, absolutely amazing. I was lucky enough to be there yesterday. And the way they played in the first half you you know how I worry so much about when I'll go and if somebody said you have to bet your life that the nicks are going to come back. I say there's no way the way they played in the first half. There was no way you're watching midway through the second quarter. I'm looking up at the board and it just seemed like the spurs were never missing and those shooting 68.3% from the three point stripe. 68.3% now if you if you want to consider how absolutely incredible that is if you're in an open gym. You'd be hard pressed to shoot 70% on threes. I mean just look at the three point shooting contest. Do they hit 70% of their shots and these are the best shooters in the NBA. And the spurs were draining them one after the other after the other, but there is a resiliency to this Nick team that's really hard to quantify. They don't give up. They don't give up. I mean we're hearing them talk about it after they completed this unbelievable comeback the greatest comeback in NBA finals history down by 29 and they said well we just chipped away and runs it so we're looking for singles and stuff like that. And I can't even believe that they thought that they would come back from that because midway through the fourth quarter they're still down by a truckload of points. But they somehow did it and they had some help and just like the spurs had help in the first half because the nicks couldn't score and the nicks couldn't hit shots and then the spurs were hitting every shot. The tide turned so they had 76 points in the first half they scored 30 in the second half 30 in second half the nicks at 32 points in the fourth quarter alone. But you saw the inexperience of San Antonio. The mistakes they made now the next made mistakes to let's not have revision of history and say they played a perfect game in the second half they did not they did not play a perfect game. And we can talk about the heart miss layup that would have given them the lead then they make a stop and they have a 24 second violation and turn the ball over. I mean just unbelievable stuff but still they persevered because they have it in their DNA they've done it before and they know that they can do it again once you do it once you know you can do it again. And they did it so you look at what happened with the spurs and Charles Barkley said after the game that's the dumbest thing I've ever seen you know they were by 29 points stop shooting three. Now I know the whole NBA is analytically built about three's but let's use analytics on how you keep a 29 point lead you don't have the risk three point shots. Just take the best shot you could get milk the clock and I'm not saying do a four corners but milk the clock take 15 16 seconds off the clock and get yourself a two a two point play. And it would be awfully hard for the next to catch up even if they're hitting three's to your two's you've got a 29 point advantage for you to play with. And Victor Wombin Yama shows his youth and shows his fragility I'm sorry we talked about this during yesterday show he played really well in game three because he had the extra day off because of the travel and I said let's see how he plays in game four with just a one day off between the two games. And he played very well in the first half and then he completely lost it in the second half I think what he had three of 14 shots in the second half and then when it came down the crunch time he had he missed two free throws this is a guy who's an 80% free throw shooter he missed two free throws. And if he hits those free throws we might be having a different show today now was he tired or did the moment get too big for was he blurry again remember what he said he was blurry I think these moments are too big for him at the age of 22. And he's got such a cockiness about him and an aggression about him you know pointing at his head like I'm inside your head to Mitchell Robinson and the next to get physical with him. Mr Robinson elbowed him the throat got a flagrant one alvarado went into his legs he didn't get a flagrant one and when be also got a flagrant one. For an elbow that he threw so he's one flagrant one away from being suspended for game I don't think you'll ever see that flagrant one and if he's smart he's got to clean up his game a little bit. But anybody who talks as tough as he does without any hardware and when I mean hardware there are no championship rings on his finger Michael Jordan could talk tough Kobe Bryant can talk tough. Shaquille O'Neill could talk tough LeBron James even though he's lost a lot of finals he could talk tough when you talk this tough to me when I when I try to evaluate what when Benyama is he's a guy. Who's who's masking his insecurities. I think his slight frame wears him down I think the the bigness of the moment wears him down what happened in game two he missed a wide open shot what happened in game four he missed two free throws free throws this is not a big man like Mitchell Robinson who's lost it the free throw line he's not that guy. He's almost automatic he's got a beautiful stroke at the free throw line and he clanked to to enormous enormous shots. So did the pressure get to him I would never use a word like choke because I think it's it's such a pejorative term. But let's let's take it down just a level from choke and say I think the moment got to him and I think the fatigue got to him because what happens when you fatigue your legs give out and all of a sudden the shot doesn't fall so a guy who was hitting shots in the first half missed 11 of 14 in the second half and miss two free throws. And the other veteran on the team D. Aaron Fox made it a completely ridiculous play. All you have to do is take the ball back out run some time off make them value and then build the lead again that it would be tough for the next to come back instead he's driving to the basket and it's blocked by O.G. Ananobe. O.G. Ananobe was unbelievable unbelievable that tip in it was a product of when being yama running out and trying to block the shot by Brunson. So that left nobody to box out O.G. An O.G. Sores above everybody and taps the ball in and it will be one of the biggest sports moments in New York history. And you could you could list them chapter and verse. Mookie's ground ball through the legs. Motone, Motone, Motoe. Willis Reed coming out through the tunnel here comes Willis all of those things you think of the biggest moments in New York sports and O.G. Ananobe is going to be in that conversation now. Maybe Don's going to have a new list that'll come up with but this is up with you know jeeters home run and extra innings. The triple C. Not the triple C. Yeah, the triple C. That won the game and extra innings of the home run. The Tino home run against the against the Padres. I mean, there's so many great moments that we've seen throughout the years, but whichever one you want to choose O.G. Ananobe's tip in is going to be there and the way the next one the game. Now we are a prisoner of now we always have been so what happens now we think is bigger than anything that's ever happened. So wall Frazier's big game when Willis came out through the tunnel. That's one of the biggest games in New York sports history. The David Tyree helmet catch the manning ham catch all of those things there great moments that will never be forgotten. And O.G. Ananobe is a great moment that will never be forgotten that was there was a centilating evening at the garden and I got to give credit some people insulted me today when I came into the station we had a big meeting today and you know that they knew that I was at the game with my son and I go did you stay to the end I go. Did I stay to the end what am I an animal was I raised by wolves of course I stayed till the end and it seemed like everybody is at the garden even the beautiful people stayed until the end they never gave up they never gave up hope ever they never believed that the nicks are out of they got quiet when it was down by 29 but then when the nicks kept chipping away then they started the defense chance and things like that it was a great New York moment. and the garden was an unbelievable home quit. the sport advantage last night. It wore down the spurs. The young spurs, we keep talking about, you know, one of the positives with the spurs, how young they are, but with youth comes doubt, with youth comes stumbles. Now, maybe this is gonna harden the spurs and make them better in the coming years 'cause I think there's championships there, there's a lot of championships there. Maybe not this one though. Maybe not this year. Now, after game two, I said that the next one, they won the championship. That the spurs were going to be crippled emotionally and it would be tough for them to come back and then they won that game three. And you go, wow, if they win game four, maybe they win the series and they look like they were gonna win game four. And then the next win in the most improbable fashion. So everybody has the next winning the championship. Now, I picked the nicks in six, but the spurs do a lot of things well. And if they clean up around the edges, they can win on Saturday. My gut feeling is that they do win on Saturday. And then it comes back to the garden and then there's a lot of pressure again on the nicks 'cause you don't want game seven in San Antonio. If you're a nick fan though, which we all are, you want them to get it done, Saturday in San Antonio. I don't care if they get the Lario Bryan trophy on the road. He just want that trophy. You don't want to tempt fate. It would be great if they won in game six. It would be unbelievable if they won in game six. Get it done in game five. I don't think the spurs are dead. I think the nicks are gonna win the championship, but don't say because they lost that game last night that there's no coming back because they came back from Wembenjama missing a wide open shot to the left of the free throw line. And they came back in one game three. And then they were up by 29 playing like a perfect game. And then they're just not smart enough or in terms of like they don't have the experience to know how to milk a lead. They didn't know how to milk a lead. They kept flying up threes and the three stopped falling. So everything that happened in the first half was reversed in the second half. The nicks started hitting shots. The spurs stopped hitting shots. The spurs kept taking threes. For what reason? I don't know. Now I know the old adage. Well don't change what you're doing to get there. Yeah, but you gotta do math. You gotta do some math. That's just silly basketball by the spurs to continue to fire threes when you have the big lead that mathematically is almost impossible to blow. And they blew it. And it was a great moment in New York sports. Great moment. So as you're sitting there in the down by 29 and I never thought they were gonna come back. I'm not gonna sit here and lie to you that I thought, oh, they'll come back because they were so resilient. They've come back before. It was in the back of my mind that they've come back from exorbitant deficits, but I didn't think it was gonna happen last night. They shocked me. They shocked me. But remember, the spurs were up by 29 points. So to think that they're just gonna go away in San Antonio, don't bet that way. I think the game yesterday and I think game two will lead to a Nick Championship. I truly believe that. And if you're a Nick fan, you had to be emotional. And again, I get to see these moments through the eyes of a child. Maybe I'm jaundiced. You know, I've been around championship runs with the Yankees and never take it for granted. But when OG Anonobi tipped the ball in to give the Nick's the lead, my 11 year old son was crying. Tears of joy and it meant the world to me. And as we were driving home, I said, Charlie, you're gonna remember this game for the rest of your life. When I'm no longer around, I'm gonna be around when you think of this game. Because that's what everybody in that arena felt. Everybody that was watching or listening have your Nick fan, a long suffering Nick fan that's gone through 53 years. I'm not winning a championship. And then you see a game like that. Unbelievable. And I will tell you from being there, no one left that arena. No one. Now maybe they didn't leave because they spent so much money on the tickets. I don't know what the reason is. No one left. There wasn't. I couldn't see an empty seat in the house. Even when they were down by 29, where people disappointed, where people down, of course they were. But you look around the garden. When the final second point to ticked off, people of all ages, people of all colors, people crying and cheering and hugging. It was a unifying moment in New York sports. It was beautiful. And when you're going down the escalators at the garden, people are singing, go New York, go New York, go. Just a sheer joy that this Nick team has brought to this city. It was beautiful. It was absolutely beautiful. It doesn't happen that often. And again, I've been around championships with the Yankees and in '96, people were overjoyed. But I said this at the start when the next one on this run, the nicks have no competition. The Yankees, when they win, Met fans are unhappy. It's not a unifying thing. They're miserable. And when the Met's win, the Yankees fans are miserable. And when the Giants win, Jet fans are miserable. And if the Jets ever win, I guess that we'd say that the Giants fans would be miserable. The Net fans are very small subset in the city. And a lot of people say, "I always say, "Well, how do they sell our Barclay Center?" Because people I can't get into the garden and can't afford the garden want to see basketball. And they go to Barclay Center, which is a great arena. The nicks are New York's basketball team. And there's nobody that battles for that. And I think every single person in the city is overjoyed. I saw it on the faces of people. I have goosebumps even thinking about the entire evening. It was beautiful. 1-800-919-3776. Now we keep talking about MVP's too. For a while there we said, "Oh, it's gonna be "call Anthony Towns." Well, he didn't have a good game three. And he was okay, but he was in foul trouble yesterday. And then we go, "Well, maybe it's gonna be Bronson "because of each compiling points." And he had a great game yesterday, Bronson. At this point, I think it's OG Anonobi. Defensively rebounds, big shots, three point, unbelievable three point shooting yesterday. He's an absolute stud. Peter Vessi, who I respect more than anybody when it comes to basketball knowledge, tweeted out, that when the nicks got OG Anonobi in the trade from the Raptors, it is a deal that is up there with the nicks getting Dave Debusher. Same imprint that it has on the team. And what a team this team is. Michele Bridges didn't have a great game. Call Anthony Towns was in foul trouble right away. They bring in Jose Alvarado, who has onions of steel, not afraid of anything, was a big part of this win. Bronson was Bronson. They turned their lonely eyes to him. They hit big shots and he did amazing stuff. Just amazing, amazing stuff. So I know I had a long ride to get home, but once I got home, it was hard to go to bed. And I'm sure that Nick fans, it was hard to sleep. Like your body was vibrating and buzzing. You couldn't believe what you just saw. Now I'm gonna talk to Mike Green at 130. He made the call on ABC and ESPN. You know, what was he thinking? He's the national broadcaster. He played it right down the middle, but he still has a picture of Walt Frazier and his childhood home that he had since he was a kid. So you know what this means to him. So we'll talk to him about it. And you always talk about this when we have moments like this in sports. And I always use the same phrase. This is why we come back. This is why we put up with the nonsense. This is why we put up with the Eagles. This is why we put up with the failures. This is it. And this is something that only sports could give you. If somebody handed in a script to a Hollywood producer and said, yeah, there's this team. They're down by 29 in the second half. We're gonna have them come and win it. They told him the trash because it's not. It's not rational. What happened yesterday was irrational. And that's why sports has such value and why the rights fees to televised sports are so valuable. Because in a world of AI, where everything's supposed to be perfect, AI couldn't do this. They couldn't. It couldn't. But this is only done in the world of sports, unscripted and the emotions that it brings down people, both good and bad, joy and sorrow. Where do you get it? Where do you get that life? You don't get that in movies. You don't get that in streaming series. You don't get that in your favorite drama series on on a network. You only get that from sports. There's different endings all the time and the endings are so amazing that we can't even believe what we just saw. We can't grasp it. We can't understand how it could happen, but it happened. We watched it. That's why we keep coming back. That's why we ignore the nonsense. We ignore the egos. We ignore the fact that the players make more money than we, most of us could ever imagine making. They're on a different level than us when it comes to earning potential. And then when you see the product that they put out, you understand why? How many people out there when the next sign, OG, did that new contract, oh, well, this isn't overpaid. Do you think it now? How many people thought when Brunson signed with the Knicks leaving the Mavericks that we thought, what are they doing? It's worth it now. It's worth it now. How many people, I was one of them that thought getting rid of the tips was a mistake, but they bring in Mike Brown, who did not panic yesterday, who kept coaching. Now you like that higher. That's what sports does. It's not the way it is. If they don't win the championship, then yesterday becomes the N.D. Chavez catch against the Cardinals. You have to win the championship to legitimize what we saw yesterday. And I think they will win the championship. But what a night. What a night in New York City. It's just absolutely amazing. People of all different backgrounds coming together hugging, crying, screaming, laughing. 19,000 people became one small town. And 9 million people in New York City took on the aura of a small town. This didn't seem like a big city yesterday. It felt like a small city. It felt like a town where people were united for one cause. There were no political divides, anything like that. It was all about everybody wanted the next to win. And when they were losing by 29, everybody was just cratered emotionally. How could this happen after taking the first two games in San Antonio? How did they just fritter that away? Well, they came back. They didn't fritter it away. They were up three games to one. And they're one win away from winning one of the most unlikely titles we'll see. Against a team that is really, really, really, really good. Amazing stuff. I want to get you all involved. Everybody been talking about that magnificent victory by the next yesterday. There are three games to one. The man who called the game on ABC and did his usual phenomenal job. Is my great friend Mike green Mike. To paraphrase Jack Buck. Do you believe what you saw? No, it was it was hard to believe and it was the way it happened to it was such a gradual comeback at first. And every time they made inroads then the spurs would answer with a bucket or two, but then they made more inroads. And that was it and it led to just this crescendo at the end and turned into be. I think one of the great moments in New York sports history when you consider the stakes that are there for now for the next to try and end this drought and for them to pull that thing out. It was it was an incredible life. Now for those that might not know when a broadcaster goes into the game you kind of have your saddlebag in case it's a blowout and you start you know you get to those stories or whatever. Did you start to get to those stories Mike when they were down by 29? Did you think there was any chance they would come back now? This is a team that has come back, but the spurs look so dominating Mike. I didn't think the next out of chance. Well first first so at half time. I remember talking to to legs to leg Lauren RJ Richard Jefferson. And I said alright guys we're we're going to probably have to go into storytelling and some other issues. So you know let's let's keep going and we'll figure out stuff to do because I didn't think so. I think it was about midway through the second quarter when they when they were down by 25. And I said it with even a chuckle I said well for those who are interested the largest come back in an NBA finals game. And I said said that not really believing what was going to happen. It's because you can't come behind in the NBA today. It's just the opposite. It's where 20 point leads go to die. But not in a finals game against the team that has been been dominating you the way you were dominated. The spurs first half was a magnificent display of team basketball at both ends. So you never saw that coming and that's why I was I was surprised. And then you know when it started to get close you like okay. You know you like the fight and the grit the next you're putting in is it's going to be good maybe for a car over to to game five. And then you started saying I wait a minute because the spurs have lost their mojo and we've seen it a million times in the NBA. Team gets an enormous lead in the beginning and you lose your edge. And it's very difficult to get that edge back even I guess in the finals game. Now not to make you feel uncomfortable you're the consummate pro you calling a series with the next you also the voice of the next. And you do it right down the middle because you're broadcasting to a national audience including people in San Antonio. But how I mean you're human being as well I'm one of the few people I know is that so how does how does your heart not swell when the next come back like that how do you fight not feeling joyous. Well first off you've been making me feel uncomfortable since I was a freshman at Fordham so let's not gloss over that. True. Second of all though I appreciate you very much saying that I am a human being and that is true so I like that. Here's the way I look at it if that was the Boston Celtics playing the spurs or the Golden State Warriors playing the spurs I would be just as excited for what they were doing it it's regardless whether it's the next or any other NBA team. And when you consider the stakes and the magnitude of the game it's just one of the great comebacks in the history of the sport so you have to get crazy after go wild and having the home team be the one that comes behind that also adds to the adrenaline as a broadcaster you say this all the time like if that was on the road it'd be a little different because the crowds not as into it. And sometimes the crowd carries you up to a higher level so from that standpoint but you know certainly I'm not going to hide from the fact I've been a Nick fans since I was a kid so you know you certainly feel joy but in terms of the call I'd like to think I would have made the same excited intense call for any other team who made that spectacular come back. So I'm driving home with my son who you like and I love Charlie I don't like. And he was so happy and he said to me dad do you think that if when Brunson if Brunson had hit the shot rather than OG tapping it in that Mike would have gone with a triple bang and I said I don't know I'll ask him I said but I always thought a triple bang would have to be zero is across on the clock so would have been a triple bang now that you plan your calls but might have been. Yeah I think there's a real strong possibility of potential game winner in the final seconds of the finals if that's ever going to happen that's probably what would happen in a situation like that. And what I found interesting when I went back and watched the you know it's fun to watch when people take videos from the crowds without any announcing and you hear the crowd you hear the oh when it hits the front of the room and hitting the audience. and fit immediately the explosion. when anonobi makes that just spectacular incredible tip in uh. so but it there's a chance that they have happened if there is i don't know why people keep asking me that but it would uh. that would i think that would be a play that would warrant it now you spent more than half your adult life working life more than half at a madison square garden and the thing that's done me about yesterday might was that no one left when they were down by twenty nine so did that surprise you and and the sound that you have to deal with in your headset stuff like that had you ever heard it louder than that well to be it's the price of people paid for tickets i'm sure that i got a leave that want to get their money for it but here but here's what uh. stunned me most crowds when their team you know at home and their team is down by twenty five they're not chanting you know let's go next or let's go spurs or go spurs go uh. to get the team part of it's it's it's rare you see that happened usually the crowd then responds to a run and gets back into it but the next were really like dead in the water at one point and they hit one shot that may have cut the lead to twenty five and the crowd got into it and i really feel the crowd was a big part of lifting them and helping them believe that they can do it you know normally it's got to get a little closer for uh. for the new york ratchett to to grow crazy i mean twenty five point big deal they're still down by twenty five but there was something different last night and clearly it's because this means so much to the fans the the chance of ending this drought uh. but i i give credit to the to the fans last night i really felt that was one time where they they lifted lifted the next to a level to help them believe that they could get it done the other thing is at the end of the game games over no one nobody wanted nobody wanted to leave usually that's on a and i'm championship uh. plencher or any series clincher uh. this was just it was such a magnificent comeback and such an a story come back that people just wanted to stay there and share their joy with the fan next to them and the fan next to them uh. it really was a great tribute to what sports means to so many people caring factor is so much that nobody wanted to go home they just wanted to share each other's joy talk with my brain here on the michael case show uh. so when you get home i mean uh. when you broadcast a game like that there's a lot of energy that goes into it and emotion and things like that were you able to sleep or was it something that was buzzing in you now i mean you know this right you could produce the after a game like that no way uh. you're doing it and part of it too is you know from a team standpoint the telecast i thought so many people uh. throughout the telecast just did a tremendous job from the producer filled in director michael all of the amazing camera crew the video and then of course uh. legs and r_j_ and lisa when you when you when it all kind of comes together in a special night and and you all feel like you work together to get a good job done that's part of it to sing one share with them and i am i a little off base might to think that the spurs are not done i think i think the next year when the championship but i don't see the spurs rolling over and dying on saturday night do you i i i firmly believe that it's not it's not over really isn't uh. this isn't a different type of young team now they showed their youth uh. in last night the second half but they have showed that nothing really phases this group and now you add you've got this generational player who's capable on any given night you know blocking each shots and scoring forty points and these young guys who put so much defense of pressure on you uh. no no no i expect them to come out with such a force you never can tell obviously i've to shoot the ball well in today's n_b_a_ in most cases to win a game especially a playup game but not that this is a really talented tough and tough minded uh. young basketball team so no i don't think it's over by any stress a guy who's meant a lot to us in in our lives in our career peter vassie tweeted out after the game that you know the o_j_n_n_ obitrade is as impact of the trade as the day the busher trade for the next you agree yeah i think by what he's become and if he helps bring them a championship by i would agree with with people in a minute uh. i would also say that jaylen brunson the greatest free agent signing history yeah uh. it's uh. and you know the interesting thing about that but the comparison i'm trying to remember who wrote the story and i apologize for not remember but they wrote a great story and they they talk to peat the busher and dentists the bush of day's sons who are it was a no conner it was a right that's right i'm glad you remember and they both felt and i got a text from peat last night uh. they both felt that o_j_n_n_ obit was a player that most reminded them of what their father did for the next in terms of toughness great defense you need a big rebound and if you need a big shot and i was so happy uh. and obi who who is such a wonderful young man who play so hard every single night and i was so happy for the for the the busher boys because uh. i think that gave them a little extra joy scene that he's the one that that made that game saving play well i'm so happy for you i know you have a car ready to take you uh. to the airport so you can go to san antonio and i know that your voice is probably shot and i'd like to give you big hug and a kiss for coming on because i know a lot of people have actually to come on the show so thank you and enjoy saturday thank you michael i'd be good travel safe that's my brain and he did an unbelievable job you know obviously i was at the game so i wasn't watching the game but i watched all the clips you know trolley was playing them in the car for me and you know just uh. you know mike's emotion when he goes it's over it's over it's over and it's funny about big calls i don't know why and i was talking to don like raka about it before the show but announcers ten to say something three times in a big moment you know motone motone motone the giants when the pennant the giants when the pennant the giants when the pennant me with the jitter homel and cia cia cia and it's it's like the multiples of three tells you how important it is and for him to say it's over it's over it's over that's gonna go down um. in nicklor and i think he's absolutely right to in the sense that this one of the great games in n_b_a_ history because in a valsa new york next to on a fifty three year drought of winning a championship and uh. they come back from a twenty nine point deficit no one's ever done that in an m_b_a_ finals and it's just in the middle of an amazing run when being game three or you know the m_b_a_ wouldn't have their poster boy for a good post-boy for game five but the um. i just like i was gonna talk about the first half because it just it was so disgusting and it seemed like the nicks cared more about um. what's that was where it weren't being called you know just like it's trying to be physical but just in like in a stupid way just give it like give it up to the tax housing i want to get a drink i come back after we got two thousand and you know i'm sitting there at half time and and i'm playing the game of all right well where they got to do to come back and it's like we'll say that if you got a freaking change everything and and the spurs got it the spurs got to start missing and i i can't believe it actually happened and it it it seemed like a michael city just had unlimited time now it's because anytime they had a little little two point wrong little four point ronnie tried to kill it every time but they they couldn't stop they couldn't stop the bonson burners all they couldn't stop it yeah branson branson was amazing billy are absolutely right you know we were getting on him for some empty calorie points and in the first three games but those were not empty calorie points yesterday whatsoever let's go to ryan in middle sex ryan hey my guys are going on great how about you good man so as a young sports fan you know i was i was watching the game with my father last night we were out to eat and half time comes around and i'm like man this is this is rough so we end up getting a tab we go back home and he actually got home before me it took separate cars and he has a game on so i was like over there some hope if he's not shunted off we still got some hope so it ended up happening was the inevitable they pulled out the comeback and i just wanted to to say that i think the player of the series like you said that nicks has to be ogie he's averaging like almost 24 points a game when branson gets shut down i always feel like give the ball to ogie and whole shoot and whole make it and of course the tip in last night and it was just like i said of the young fan it was one of the greatest games i've ever seen in my life yet you know what i want you to do i want you to promise me Ryan that you don't take this for granted because this stuff doesn't happen all the time so your young fan and you got to enjoy with your dad remember this because again they don't come down the pike all that often games like this these are very very special and the fact that you got a chance uh. to enjoy it with your old man now you two are fused together when you remember this game you were with your dad and that's what that's what sports does it brings people together and it brings different age groups together and different races together where everybody's pulling the rope in the same way and i think that's so so important here's the guy i've seen a lot of basketball in his life spike in st pete spike i'm so happy that you went to the game with charlie i welled up when i heard the story about him on the phone car asking you questions it's just warm the cockles of my heart o g n and o b have three plays in the last couple of minutes two blocks from behind and i went over the final play the tip and not the final play where he takes Josh Hardle off the hoxies oh yeah and yeah that's okay that's okay that's what team h2 like fathers and sons and grandsons and then grandfathers but i watched very carefully the final play now strategically when they was not out of position he was tasked with guarding ronson which is the right play but it looked like the red sea opened up if you rewatch it carefully the running thought that o g got to give him the elevation it might have been legs or someone on television his his arm before he dropped it back in was up to the square on the basket right i mean this kid this kid is terrific and it's redemption too now they got to win it that's the whole key or send b shavres as you uh said to before but staying around after the game all the pretty people all the regular people i still feel a little upset that the regular nickel and dime person you know no disparaging then the guts that make everything work yeah but for you to be there with charlie i'm telling your michael it's not just me because i'm old and have kids and we know each other fairly well it's just a beautiful feeling and the fact that he cried at the end of the game here's a joy on the best thing in the world with your dad so you were 65 and you should lift 102 i can't imagine how you felt when that was a perfectly executed tip in and we have to what do you think about the two he tracked down from behind and blocked the shots oh he's he just had an amazing game and in every way spike to me he he's the MVP and he is he's been so consistent throughout this run where he just does special things and he's a smart basketball player with incredible athletic skills you mentioned you know jumping to the top of the box i mean not easy to do and you know finding the lane to get to the basket so somebody vacated the lane to run with wembenyama at bronson and by that vacating the lane that opened the spot that nobody was going to about what's the word i'm trying to get nobody was going to box out uh oh jee he had a clear path to the basket and he executed it not that easy he you know he explained that he was you know he was thinking about dunking it but it got to be to the point where he was passed a point of dunking it so he wanted to tap it in softly to
