Winx & Carlyon Stakes Day Preview

The Racing Previews Podcast episode focuses on previewing the first Group 1 of the new season, the Winx Stakes at Randwick, where Autumn Glow and She's Alibi are set to clash. The hosts, Ben, Nick, and Will, analyze the race in depth, with most agreeing that Autumn Glow holds a clear edge. They argue that Autumn Glow's first-up record over 1400 meters, likely favorable map from barrier three, and race fitness make her a near-certainty, despite her $1.90 price. In contrast, they criticize She's Alibi's decision to travel to Sydney first-up, calling it risky and potentially detrimental to her spring campaign. Beyond the feature, they preview other races at Sandown and Randwick, highlighting Cavalry Girl in the Carlyon Stakes as a strong bet, while also debating the merits of Tennessee Bound versus Gold Coast Bell in a benchmark race. The episode includes multi-bet recommendations, such as Autumn Glow into Gold Coast Bell, and future bets like Ka Ying Rising for the Everest. The hosts also engage in humorous banter, address listener questions on topics like pronunciation and race predictions, and briefly mention other horses like King of the Sea and Ombudsman. The episode concludes with a reminder to gamble responsibly.

Speaker 5G'day punters and welcome back to the Racing Previews Podcast where we are previewing the very first Group 1 of the new season. It is the Group 1 Wing Stakes. Wait for age at Randwick. And we see the clash of the titans. The clash we thought we might have seen. Going back to the Doncaster Mile. It is Shiza Alibi versus Autumn Glow. Whose side are we going to be with? We'll find out very shortly. My name is Ben Coluzzi. If you're joining us for the first time, I'm joined by Nick Mulgwalter and Will "The Bot" Alford. Nicko, how are you, mate?
Speaker 6I'm okay. Yeah, just another week. Well, keen to rip in. It's a little bit of a lull this week. Is that a fresh shave you've got? No, just a normal. Just the standard? Yeah. We'll have to blur out my hair. Because I haven't had my hair cut. It's probably part of my bad mood for the last week. Because I haven't had my hair cut. But yeah, lots to dissect. Lots happening in the sporting world. So keen to rip into it. What's happening in my world?
Speaker 5I've had to apologize. I actually didn't think you were going to make it tonight.
Speaker 6I thought you had leather poisoning from your 44 on the weekend.
Speaker 5It didn't take long for someone to mention that. But I'm about 40 minutes late to tonight's podcast. Because I've been in Sydney doing some stuff with Bet365. Our friends. Our friends. Thankfully, I've actually made decent time up in the last sort of 20 minutes. And my man, Pa Deep, I told him to take the tolls. I told him to go just a couple of Ks over. No, just floor it, mate. Nothing illegal.
Speaker 6And you know what makes matters worse? What? We probably could have gone back to the original old time slot tonight. No one was in here. I know. I know. That does make it worse.
Speaker 7Yeah. I was thinking I was going to have to introduce us all on the podcast. Welcome back to the Racing Previews podcast. Oh, God.
Speaker 6It was worse the first time. Dulcet tones. It was bad the first time we did it.
Speaker 5When was that? When you did the podcast by yourself? Oh, fuck. Don't remind me of that. Was it Cox Plate or Caulfield Cup? It was Caulfield Cup Day. It was a review podcast.
Speaker 7Because they were doing that. And it was a Caulfield Cup. That would have been unbearable. Oh, that was bad.
Speaker 5Anyway. Yeah. Jeez. Anyway. Podcast multi last week. Yeah. It only narrowly went down. We'll address the issue off the top. Do you want to address the issue? What is the issue, Nico? Yeah. I'm formally standing down from the podcast multi.
Speaker 6Even though last week you said you're having a couple of weeks off it.
Speaker 5Yeah. The punters wanted me back.
Speaker 6And I've decided against my own better judgment. I don't need to wipe my beautiful clean hands with that dirty podcast multi that keeps getting beat.
Speaker 5So, I'm having no partake in it in the future. I thought our joint selection was going to be autumn glow.
Speaker 6No. No. I'm not partaking in it anymore. What? I'm not partaking in it anymore. No. I'm not partaking in it anymore. What? I'm not partaking in it anymore. Nico, explain yourself. I'm over it.
Speaker 5Why is Nico jumping off this multi? I'm over it.
Speaker 6Well, I've backed two losers that have backed $3 educator. I've got the stats here. The commit was $5 the week before. And then I've had two losers. And Nico, who backed five odds on shots that got beat five weeks in a row, has had a go
Speaker 5at me. I'm like, "I'm not that bad, am I?"

Speaker 6Metro. Shouldn't take him on to review his stuff. Jesus. He's got plenty of time on his hands.
Speaker 5Did you have a look at the Rosebud, Nico? I did. It was running one in fast time. Interesting. I would still say Natural Fling was more impressive.
Speaker 6A hundred percent. I think there's a lot more credit to Natural Fling's win last week than what probably anyone has spoken about. I haven't really heard anyone speak about it. She stumbled out of the gates. Frosty used her up before the corner. I thought, fuck, we're going to see how good she really is here. Frosty gave her a squeeze. It's not very easy to make two runs on a horse. Only the very, very good ones can do it, and that's exactly what she did. It bodes well for what she's doing. There's Tom. How are you, mate? Tommy Morris. Got any exclusives for us, brother? Can we get Tom on? Can we get Tom on? Old boy? No? Sit down.
Speaker 5Where were we? Bolt Sabre ran like Bolt Sabre. Were you run third? Yep. Another one by four played by you. Well done for that. Five dollars is the place. Decent. As a courier, went no good in the rig or roller. The other horse we haven't talked about in terms of Natural Fling is also in the same colours and trained by the same trainers as another very good, filly-turned-mare in Sunlight.
Speaker 6Calvin was on with Gareth earlier today. Did you catch that? No, I didn't get the chance to. Busy getting your make-up done in the studio. No make-up today,
Speaker 5thankfully.
Speaker 6Calvin sort of alluded to she's not as good as Sunlight yet, but she might be in the future, and he had no qualms in sort of agreeing that she's the best three-year-old filly in the country, which I think he's warranted at this
Speaker 5point in time. Yep, I'd probably agree. Just going back to the Rosebud quickly, that was Quinella's by two three-year-old fillies. Blue Door is certainly one you can take out of that run. It was full of merit. Given she only came in off the one trial and she did lead them at a fast lead speed, would not be dropping off Blue Door by any means. Chilly Girl and Blue Door, two nice horses. I want to see the boys
Speaker 6come back well, because the next episode probably needs to lift the trials, and a few of the colts need to sort of step back, step up, I should say. I've got a few queries about a few of them. So the girls have come out and put their best foot forward, so it's time for the boys to follow suit now. Yep, absolutely.
Speaker 5Alright, let's get to matters more at hand. Racing this Saturday, we're going to start where we always start, despite it being group on action at Randwick. So if you want to skip straight to the group on, you'll have to just use the swiper on the podcast and head to Randwick. However, Sandion Hillside this Saturday, rails out five metres.
Speaker 7Is it? I was, last time I looked at it, it was TBC. Yeah, there
Speaker 5was a bit of conjecture on what it was going to do, but I've just refreshed and it says out five metres on Racing Australia. It's because of the racing today and I wanted
Speaker 6to know about the marking and...
Speaker 7It still says TBC for me, I don't know what it means. Really? Oh, that's on Racing.com. Yeah, that's right. Your mates. Oh, well. If I speak.
Speaker 5If I speak, I'm in big trouble. I watched the Jose Mourinho Netflix doco today, actually. Very good. The man who famously quotes that line. Soft seven track here at present. Let me just look up the weather. I don't think the weather's going to be fine. I think it's pretty fine. There could be some very small, light, scattered showers on Saturday, but I would imagine we remain in the soft range, but nothing too
Speaker 6sinister. Won't be enough to wet the road.
Speaker 5Agree with that. Quick time for a Bet365 promo. It is the standard races one to six, 25% plus winnings boost, and that is at Sandown and Randwick this Saturday. And we are trying to get a mega boost over the line for Autumn Glow at some stage. So, gee, wouldn't it be great if the traders can give us a bit of $3 for Autumn Glow? First race I want to start in is race number two. It is a benchmark 74 over the 1,400 meters. Cruiserweight, our $3 favorite from Humza Bay 750. Bacaluch, $8.50. Cherish Me, $9.00. And Itazura is $10.00. Now, one of my favorite mantras in racing is to forgive a good horse one bad run. And, gee, it was a bad run last time from Cruiserweight, but his two ratings prior to that were very, very good. We know he was ridden warm last time around, so we get to a bit of a case study there, Nico, to see if they ride him slightly different, if he can produce something more like his best. He's had a recent jump out since then. He went very, very well. And I just can't get that $1.80 SP out of my head last time around. So I think $3 is a good enough price to just have a small bet and follow up on what we know is a good horse. And Mark Zara going on board, you lose nothing there, especially with the way he may be ridden, a little bit more cool towards the back of the field.
Speaker 6Yeah, I like the jockey change. Craig got it all wrong last time, so a little gap in between runs, tick over trial in between. Jockey change, which I'm a fan of. I think it is a very good opportunity at sort of around the $3 mark to reinvest and get back some of what it was last time. My opinion on this horse hasn't changed. Ridden differently last time, I think we get a different result. So, yeah, more than happy to be with him. A little bit of cut in the track will be no issue. And, yeah, you're never going to be disappointed when you have Mark Zara on top. So, yeah, I think he's clear-cut favourite here, and it's just a race that he should go and win. Yeah. So the last
Speaker 5time he raced, it was in a three-year-old open handicap, I believe, but this is, oh, sorry. No, that is wrong.
Speaker 7It was a three-year-old open handicap last time.
Speaker 5Oh, it was? Sorry, sorry. I'm looking at his age, four-year-old, and forgetting that the season's just turned over. And now this is a benchmark 74. I'd actually argue last time was a stronger race than this, almost. Celtics? Yeah.
Speaker 6Humza Bay was a bit flat. Maybe. My sort of intel from a part owner was that he was a bit flat last time, Humza Bay, which is what happened second up last preparation, but... Like
Speaker 5Baclush, was it a little bit underwhelming last time?
Speaker 6Last time in? I still think Humza Bay needs to improve. It was still disappointing last time, and this is another step up against a proper horse, I think, so...
Speaker 7I'll tell you what, I'd be a little bit worried if they try and ride it really negatively. Who?
Speaker 5It might not be really negative, I just don't think it'll be banged up outside lead. Just ride it like it was ridden first up.
Speaker 7Yeah, I mean, I personally, if I was backing it, I'd prefer it to be up on speed, but... Yeah, but you don't believe in horses and patterns and
Speaker 6everything else, so... You'd happily have him ridden like the way he went last time. Bot still believes in Santa, he's about 15. And he went like a bustard, so... About 15. That's case in point. Yeah.
Speaker 7Truth fairy? Yeah, all those sorts of things. Fairies? In general? I don't know, I didn't really like their answer. Angel Capital? I still believe... Yeah, that's a good one. That says enough. That says enough. Yeah, look, I think he's too short. I have no interest in backing him. Fear no evil, I keep backing, but maybe he's a little bit big at whatever price he is with our friends, but look, I've got no interest in betting in this race.
Speaker 5All right, we need like a with a little help from our friends, like on the sounding board by the Beatles, I reckon. All right, let's move on to race number three. 2400 metre, three, oh sorry, three year old plus, so this is an open handicap. Open to all horses, all ages, all sexes, and we do see Smoke and Romans as our top rated runner at 100, but the favourite currently is Nyarko Fraud, $2.50 who's just in scintillating form. He's going for five, four straight wins, $2.50 in favourite from Think Giant, $3.60. So Team OTI really hold the call here. Smoke and Romans, our toppy at $7, he's got a shoulder to $60. Beach Pad, $10 and Go Daddy is $13. Interesting race here, Will. You've got Nyarko Fraud coming up a grade, and then you've got Think Giant, you know, probably staying in that sort of grade. He was a good run at benchmark 100 level, and you've gone with Think Giant out and tripped third up to go bang. Yeah,
Speaker 7look, I just think that this horse is really progressive. Like, he was excellent first up, and then that was quite a high pressure race at Flemington that St. George won, and he sort of made a mid-race move and then came to the end of it. I just think he's looking for a mile-and-a-half. He was a mile-and-a-half horse overseas. He raced in, you know, group ones. He ran fifth in some good company over there. I think that's a German group one, even still. I don't think it's the German derby, but it's a prominent group one over the other race he ran, and he started 20-1 there. So he's a good horse, and you know, he's put down two ratings, his last two starts, and the market has thought a lot of him, and I think he gets an excellent opportunity to improve quite drastically here, and I thought he was entirely favorite. I think Nyako Frode's more likely to run his number, and that's all well and good, but I think Nyako, sorry, I think Think Giant is more than capable of going past that level, and you know, I think he's a really nice horse.
Speaker 5I'm finding it really hard to split them. Nyako Frode has been good to me this preparation. Think Giant, he probably doesn't have a heck of a lot of gate speed, but what do you think he might land from barrier one.
Speaker 7it's a good question i'm not entirely sure i'll leave that up to logan bates
Speaker 6sitting on the fence i think niyako fraud will win is that your case i think it's just better form winning forms good form c williams versus logan bates staying race horse in form got better races in store for it than what think giant does winners win losers find excuses niyako for the win thought it should be odds on well there you go that's that's as strong as it
Speaker 5gets from nico uh but you did declare cosmic crusader last week and it got the choccy so well done yeah i am i'm probably more leaning in the niyako fraud camp however i think niyako fraud has sort of he probably has reached his level it's still a very good level and he gets him well the 54 kilos just going to be an interesting one if think giant can elevate you love sand down he does love sand down that's no worries there he'll go forward from barrier nine craig williams is just he's um he's the most tactically brilliant jockey i think we have in australia when it comes to positioning them in winning spots on speed he's right up there i think he's the smartest jockey that's for sure yeah walks his tracks gets him in the right lanes
Speaker 7gets him in the right spot does his form too he's quite good at that yeah absolutely all right we
Speaker 5move on to race four and we're going to talk about the race four and we're going to talk about the race four 1500 meter uh open handicap so these open handicaps you can probably pretty much treat them as sort of benchmark hundreds they're very similar first chorus our 2.90 favorite she's been up a long time she was scratched from last week to run here she's 2.90 and another horse going for four straight victories just a deal 4.40 off the sydney form is very interesting run harry run 4.60 he'll be right there in the firing line craig can he continue to improve seven dollars and saint lawrence is ten dollars but when is this win streak of first chorus going to come to an end
Speaker 7well she's been the best placed horse in australia this i don't know for as long as i can like for for a very good period of time like she's just phenomenal placement she just and she's so consistent too like she's been so well um conditioned that she just rocks up and runs her number and you know the wet tracks have helped that's part of the reason um but yeah she's they've done a phenomenal job with her i just think you know she keeps running to the same level does she have that sort of next level of improvement she might not need to that's that's fine i i just thought it just a deal was it was worth having something on was off fence on that day at rose hill where it was essential to be on rail and and you know this horse has got some numbers that um you know could make it you know favorite in this race whether whether whether or not should be favorite like that's up for interpretation i don't think it's quite it quite should be favorite but i think it should be you know uh much closer to first course um at the current prices that you know i i think this horse is a ripping turn of foot on it it comes to hand really quickly uh it's a really nice horse and it's still a horse i think as well that hasn't had the greatest opportunity to to show itself either like it's a it's only it's only raced 15 times it's it's been relatively unlucky a few times and you know go back second second up last forever in the chuka cup um that form's worked out really well hughes has done excellent things even when a group three race maybe the easter handicap there at caulfield something like that um yeah nice horse just a deal i think i want to back it a ripping turn of foot awards i never
Speaker 5thought i'd hear out of bots me off that sounds more like me well i'm getting used to these sort
Speaker 6of tipping shows what happens when uh horses are ridden in their comfort zone and to their they actually are allowed to have a turn of foot because they're not ridden upside down and actually have something at the end well you're wrong you keep you keep you keep believing in these things you'll learn the hard way um just if you
Speaker 5are back in the favorite in first chorus emily posman um it's getting a bit annoying that well obviously she's an apprentice but you're body shaming her i'm not body shaming her but it's just annoying how it's saying in lots of different uh races that she's going to ride this horse at 53 kilos first chorus but it is on racing australia that a minimum body riding weight is 54 kilos there's nothing wrong with that however um it's just a thing that we need to get right but on tipping apps and even um you know on our sort of data websites well i mean because it just throws everything off yeah i mean they can only know so long if it's on racing australia though it should be able to get oh yeah yeah yeah yeah i agree with that um run harry run did you give him a chance he's also in decent
Speaker 7form yeah he's in good form he had the favors last time up on speed on the rail um but i don't i don't
Speaker 5i think he's about the right price all right let's move on to race number five and this is over the car line distance which is the feature race on this saturday at sandham which is actually a mooney valley meeting this is a three-year-old handicap over 1 000 meters and bugsy our four 40 favorite has been a slight drifter they've come for incognito for marks r 4.60 today from unit five the magic millions winner he's back six dollars fifty mull of kintyre has been tens into eight dollars fifty and shooting break is eleven dollars who i believe was scratched from sandian today to us to run here interesting race i actually don't know which way you've gone here
Speaker 7yeah um yeah it is a good race incognito has been heavily supported um trialed like an absolute bomb up in sydney really really nice sort of ridden ridden for a little bit of uh you know behind horses and then unleashed um over the last sort of 100 200 meters uh whether that means they're going to try and ride it with a sit i don't know yeah i mean this was came to hand really quickly it was you know very good very early but uh i mean its trials suggested it might have improved i don't know if i believe that i don't really know i'll have it improving but i'm still a little bit unsure bugsy i don't think it's a thousand meter horse um unit five i think was very good very early and has drawn awkwardly and i don't think it's in a thousand meter horse either so i think it'll drift uh the two horses that i want to back in this is jack aranda who started five dollars against cavalry girl who goes around your favorite in the car line stakes in the lightning stakes um sort of half missed the start there and ran that's fine like this horse is a really really nice source didn't i think it's all it was always going to improve as a three-year-old to a thousand meters of course i don't think is probably its right distance probably going to be better as it gets out over 1200 meters but even still at whatever price it is with our friends at bet 365 is more than acceptable to have something on and and i'm also going to have something on a horse called oxley tycoon who i remember was um just backed off the boards at packenham one night heavily supported but they went too fast just didn't didn't wasn't whatever it wasn't able to cope with it so early went to where did it go was uh bansdale uh carlin heffel road it got back a long way but just ripped home the last sort of 200 meters of the race there and it's i think it's a really nice horse so backing those two in the race it's a good race and i think we'll learn a bit from it beautiful so currently 17
Speaker 5dollars and 23 dollars there the two rank outsiders in the race are they well i don't think they should be oh you can have something on there for sure jack aranda to quote nico she's had more problems than you more issues than you well i've got a few of them she's a horse she's a horse who can get quite keen so i do like that they've gone for the nose roll which she trialed quite well and i hate nose rolls
Speaker 7do you know why oh just some stuff that i've heard about them usually nose rolls will cross
Speaker 5over nose bounds try and help horses with issues yeah try and help them not to over race and that's
Speaker 6what i'm trying to do i'm trying to help them and that's what i'm trying to do i'm trying to help them and that's what i'm trying to do i'm trying to help them and that's what i'm trying to do
Speaker 5hopefully she um sorts out those manners happy to skip race six let me just have a quick look
Speaker 7we'll try six again i can talk about it if we want we're going through these pretty quickly uh oh no not this race no don't don't want to race we can skip it then no thank you it's a
Speaker 5hard race yeah let's go to the day's feature the listed sorry it's a group three sorry it's a group three car line stakes and it's run under set weights and penalties conditions jesus my um my former staff members at mooney valley would be reefing and tearing that i've called that a listed race i swear it used to be a listed race the car line anyway it's a group three now cavalry girl three dollar 40 favorite who's just absolutely airborne extra galactic four dollars twenty the group one runner up from hedged six dollars beast mode seven dollars fifty in from 850 ollie dancer ten dollars and signature scent is eleven dollars uh as most thousand meter races you would expect there to be good tempo here beast mode probably crosses them from barrier three and leads will i do think every girl gets a beautiful run yet again though
Speaker 7yeah i think she probably does i don't generally like these sorts of races but i do think cavalry girl is just going to get a beautiful run she ran a massive peak figure last time and you know i'm a little bit more confident that that that rating is real because what she did the start prior in the lightning stakes she did it for really slow tempo last time she'd have a really fast tempo in the lightning um she looks she looks really ready for this test um extra galactic i think is probably not a thousand meter horse and is some question first up probably going to get back to the end of the field hedged is probably a 1200 meter horse at his absolute best and won't be probably suited but maps probably pretty well um beast mode was the one that was interesting early but it's being well supported and probably i've marked it eight dollars it's eight dollars with our friends at bet365 i think um sandy on hillside probably
Speaker 5doesn't really suit beast mode as much as say yeah but a caulfield or a caulfield caulfield
Speaker 7they'd be absolutely spewing that it was that they're not racing at mooney valley yeah the connections of of beast mode it's um yeah anyway uh although dan so what is it doing here why why why a thousand meters this is a this is a paid trial surely well i've got a 30 to 1 and that's generous to it to be honest it's not fast enough no way no way um well look i got cavalry girl if it gets out a little bit further i might even back it it's just it's just there now it's in career best form it's really really fast and um you know i think there's lots of a couple queries
Speaker 5around the rest of the other ones yep this is the second bet i've had so far at caulfield and it is on cavalry girl at three dollars 40 you get three dollars 60 with a bit of a boost she's just gone to a new level her last couple of starts i thought when she went to adelaide and she won by a big space i thought is there is there a chance that she's going to win by a big space i thought is there is that rating a little bit for gazey um but no it wasn't she went to caulfield heath last time around and improved on that rating yet again it was off only a slow tempo last time around so the fact that she was into the northerly breeze made it a little bit easier to sort of deal with that but she's just a very fast man she's a thousand meter horse she meets all of these rock hard fit some of them are first up and i think she's just going to camp a length of time or two behind beast mode and go straight past him once they approach the 100 meter mark a little bit of cut in the track is no issue for her and i love barrier one just where beast mode is as well so cavalry girl for me nico are you with her or extra galactic or a bit of a two better i'm having a two
Speaker 6bet play my main bet is extra galactic um i think i know she's going like an absolute bomb at home i think she's going to lap up a race tempo that she's going to find on the weekend a stiff thousand is going to be right up to her and i think she's going to be a little bit better than that but i her alley um yeah she uh she goes really good fresh a little bit of toe in the tracks not going to hurt her chances she's my main bet because um yeah just the way that i think the race is going to set up it might play into her hands here but i will be um having something on cavalry girl as well i think they're the only two chances in the race i think it's either cavalry girl so it gets left alone is too good in front or cavalry girl cops pressure and extra galactic will launch over the top so cavalry girls been a good horse to me this preparation and i'm not going to uh let her go around and and me lose um but i just worry i don't know if sandhound's going to be exactly her track um and just the way this race might be run even though she is fast um i think this is a bit of a different dynamic to what she's faced the last couple so extra galactic on top um but chopping out on cavalry girl so i think they're the only two winning chances i'd agree with that it is worth
Speaker 5noting when hedge won the christmas stakes that was at sandhound as well with her and i think she's going to win but that was 1200 meters he absolutely flogged he's on a thousand medals nadal aviatress and then um what was his other big performance in the australia states yeah so i think he's he's a he's some sort of chance but 1200 meters is definitely more up his alley so i'd
Speaker 6be surprised if he's quick enough just had confirmation that extra galactic is pushing on to a more stakes post the car line there you go it's been a pivot in plans she wasn't going originally but trent's uh made the call and that's exactly where she's going now so you're flying hey must be flying she can't she can't win amoya so it doesn't matter must have come back bigger nothing's nothing's beating natural flinging amoya stakes so she was she doesn't very big
Speaker 8horses at three year old so hopefully she's strengthened up a bit a little disappointing
Speaker 6because she should have been a group i went at the last preparation and she's probably going to
Speaker 5be better at 1200 meters than a thousand well at least like a couple weeks ago we were saying i was hearing cavalry girl wasn't going to go to the moya you were hearing extra galactic wasn't going to go there at least these horses it sounds like can we just address something that why have
Speaker 6you been going to the moya and you're not going to go to the moya and you're not going to go to the moya i think he's good uh media personalities and people with influence been spruiking that jigsaw's going jigsaw's never was never going yeah i don't know who who made gareth uh and others have been going with it cindy has been pretty vocal that he was never going to the moya stake so i don't know where where this has come from but um yeah i think he is resuming potentially
Speaker 5at caulfield in october in group two october is that the caulfield stakes october october
Speaker 6the race that they've circled is the slot race at cranberry for a million dollars ah fair enough it'd be very busy preparation last time in and sydney's thinking well let's let everyone go to war and they can tackle there's plenty of money still on offer at the back end of yeah the spring
Speaker 5carnival it's a long spring carnival to kick off in the late they probably won't do this but the late kickoff in the spring also opens the door to going back to perth well there's hong kong
Speaker 6potentially on the radar as well there's hong there's the hong kong sprint there's also i wouldn't run around yeah well imagine he could go and run second imagine going all the way around the world
Speaker 5just to get your heart broken by car you can rise yeah but he could run second yeah you can but you i'd i'd prefer he went and won another group one in the winter bottom possibly he's already on the
Speaker 6clocker this is a horse that has come back from the dead essentially so if the owners want to go to hong kong and run against the best horse in the world good luck to him rising kill him again well he could still i would still be confident that he could run a place yeah me too
Speaker 5all right race eight good discussion there this is a benchmark 88 over the 1300 meters and favoritism will be fought out between two very good mares the first of those is tennessee bound at two dollars 70 she's unbeaten six out of six she rises to the 1300 meters for the very first time gold coast bell was back from a spell two dollars ninety open four dollars with bet three six five well done if you got a slice of that early price i don't think any of us did victoria spirit is nine dollars from lou ten dollars and piastri is thirteen dollars will you're very keen here tell us how you think this race shape might pan out and who you're backing uh well i i just
Speaker 7you know i've said it before i just think i just think i just think tennessee bound has found her level and it's not a level that's gonna win her plenty of races and she's a very vulnerable favorite now i think gold coast bell should be favored outright and i think it's insanity that she's not uh and i think she will start favorite she will gold coast bell will start favorite and i've marked about two dollars forty and i'm incredibly keen to back gold coast bell i'll probably have something on romantic encounter as well i think it's a nice horse being gelded and i think i think we'll find that romantic encounter will be best over these sort of uh 1400 meter miler trips uh but yes gold coast bell um is just she she's jumped out excellently she's that that number she put down last start in the bendigo guinea sat three wide the entire way um just went through the grades really well i think i think she's just really well set up to to beat this and i think the favor right now is not particularly any good
Speaker 5so it helps what about tennessee bound gives you that sort of gut feeling that she also gut feeling
Speaker 7it's just that i think she's run the same number four times in a row and the more times you do that the less likely you are to go any better than it i know she she was uh she almost stacked at the start last time but they went a slow pace and she quickened she just got past behavior i know baby's a nice horse but let's prove to be a very good form race yeah well i i just just my opinion i just don't think she's uh she just she doesn't have that many more levels in her but i could be
Speaker 5wrong you are wrong nico you firm on tennessee again are you backing her or you just can't let
Speaker 6this race go i'm backing tennessee bound i think um i think there's this this is just what happens when horses win by a small margin and they don't win by a small margin and they don't win by a small margin they seem to have more knockers than the horses that win by bigger margins and i think um yeah i think she sort of had some things against her in the last sort of few runs that she's had to probably explain why she's only won by the the smaller margins um but all you have to do is win it doesn't matter if it's an inch or a mile and i think um she will win again on the weekend i think 1300 meters will be fine i think we haven't seen the bottom of her i think she's a better horse than what we've seen to date and you know what i actually hope something goes stupid in this race and she doesn't lead because this is something that i was harping on about a couple of runs ago that i would love to see her with something to chase and i think on saturday this might actually happen so i think if she gets if she has a bunny to chase i think she might go even better than what she has been and yeah i think it's a very very easy bet to have it's been a horse that i've been chasing for a long time and i've been with for nearly her whole career and i'm getting a price to back her again with fitness on her side i think things are going to pan out well for her on the weekend and i'm really happy to bet so um yeah no shock that i'm taking on bot and his wrong opinion so um wow yeah i'm happy to be with tennessee bound in a pretty significant way where are we that is strong that might be
Speaker 5hmm we don't have a food sponsor a food sponsor
Speaker 6well we'll just make sure you're back tennessee bound or you won't be eating that might that might
Speaker 5be a zinger box on the line or something like that i'm already
Speaker 6I'm already four love up on dinner bets with Bud. I'm not betting with him anymore.
Speaker 5It hasn't paid up. I do think it's a two-horse race. It's an interesting one. Some part of me goes Tennessee Bound is a tiny query at the end of 1,300 metres if they go a bit of a gallop here. However, she's the fit one. She's had the three runs. She's pretty hard to knock. She'll be up there on speed for a long way, but this early money for Gold Coast Bell, I think it's telling. She was incredibly well-backed in that Bendigo Guineas going back to last preparation, and I love the 1,300-metre kick-off point for her. She won't be too far away from the action either from that inside draw. I do think these two mares will fight it out, but I'm not telling you anything the market isn't.
Speaker 6He'd want to be clued on Logan Bates because she's not the easiest of horses to ride Gold Coast Bell.
Speaker 5Geordie's given her a proper-
Speaker 6Geordie couldn't ride the weight, but what I'm saying is she's not the most straightforward horse. And sometimes Geordie's given her some 15 out of 10s, and she's only just won. So I think that does play some part.
Speaker 5I've got a way to make money on this race, but we'll save that once we get to the podcast multi. We're now moving north of the border where racing goes to Royal Randwick. And boys, you know why it's called Royal Randwick?
Speaker 7I don't know, because the Queen said it.
Speaker 5Because Queen Elizabeth II first visited Randwick in 1954 on the 6th of February. She put her royal touch on it, and after that- After that, it became Royal Randwick. So if you didn't know that-
Speaker 8What did she do? She visited the races. Well, that's all she did. She just touched it.
Speaker 5I don't know. Maybe she- Do you only knight people, or can you knight places as well? I don't know. I'm not knighted yet. Not yet.
Speaker 6I'll tell you one day. We'll revisit this.
Speaker 5Anyway, it says here the Queen visited Randwick three times. 1954, 1970, 1992. She was an absolute punterholic. She loved the game. A punterholic. Tommy Morris, busy boy. Hopefully, we can get him in here. Tom, you got an exclusive for us, brother? All right, Randwick, let's get up. We're not friends anyway.
Speaker 7Oh, we're going to do race nine?
Speaker 5What?
Speaker 7I'll just say, I kind of like Super Nima in race nine at the stand down.
Speaker 5Oh, sorry. I completely cut you off there. I just thought that race is horrendous. $5 a field. Super Nima. Any reasons?
Speaker 7Well, it was off the fence that day. At Rose Hill, when it was very, you had to be on the rail. And, yeah, best figures make it very competitive in a race like this.
Speaker 5All right. Randwick, rail is in the true position this weekend, which is fantastic to see. It should play fair. It's a soft seven at the moment. Weather over the next couple of days looks fine, though. It's going to be 20, 21 degrees. And, geez, what I can say about Sydney is it's just that few degrees nicer. That few degrees warmer where you can walk around with a T-shirt.
Speaker 6Yesterday was pretty good if you were here in Melbourne. Yeah. 21 degrees.
Speaker 5Apparently, it was good here as well. But even when it's like raining and even during the night there, the air temperature is just that little bit better. It is nice.
Speaker 6You would have been out doing your Fred Best last night.
Speaker 5It is nice. I was getting to my 10K steps. Don't worry about me, Nico. All right. We're going to look at race number three to start us off here. Sorry, race number four. And this is a bench. Benchmark 78 over the mile. King of the Sea is our $3. Sorry. King of the Sea is our $3.20 favorite. He opened $4 from Avista. This has been the drifter. $4 out to $4.40. Punton's been a big drifter. Six out to nine. And the Creator is $10. I'm keen on the favorite here, King of the Sea. I was able to grab a bit of $4.40 right when markets opened. Look, his best distance probably isn't 1,600 meters. And it has been a little while since he last... But he comes here after a little bit of a freshen up, a few months. I loved his most recent trial. With J-Mac on board, I just think he's clearly the class runner. You go back to last preparation, the end of it. He started favorite in a benchmark 88 over 2,000. He only just missed to Zima. Carried more weight than that horse. And I don't think barrier 12 is too much of an issue because he's going to get back anyway. You will be relying on a fair track. But I think he's going to get back anyway. You will be relying on a fair track. But I think he's going to get back anyway. You will be relying on a fair track. But I think he's going to get back anyway. But I think he's going to get back anyway. But I think he's going to get back anyway. His draw isn't as bad as the mare in a Vista, who only comes through a bit of a weird benchmark 72 last time. I know the form is all right with mine, your beers and co, but it's drawn out in 14. I just think King of the Sea is the here and now. 16.5 kilos. He's going to win better races than this going into the spring once he gets over further. And the other horse that's well on the market is Puntin, and he's been a noticeable drifter six out to nine, and I can absolutely understand why. So King of the Sea is one of my better bets at Randwick on Saturday.
Speaker 7Can I say something? Insane. What? I think this horse is a chance in the Caulfield Cup. Just off sectionals? Just off, like, just this. He's a nice horse, isn't he? He's a really nice horse. Just of everything he's done and the jockey that they've repeatedly put on top of him has left a bit to be desired. He, you know, he was tearing down King Pedro, who has done excellent things since. He's monopolistic, who was, you know, up favourite up there for the Queensland Derby. And then Tazema, who's gone on a winning tear, should have probably beaten it too. So this horse is really, really nice, and it hasn't been given any chance to win at all. And I think it can, you know, this could be a horse that we get to see in a naturalism when it's way into a Caulfield Cup. Yeah, I think we could see this horse, and I wouldn't look out of place and have my bet through 6-5, a bet slip. Wow. There you go. Ben gave me a look.
Speaker 5I was like, where are you going with that? I'm not exactly sure.
Speaker 7He's talking shit.
Speaker 5No, I'm not.
Speaker 7It's a nice horse.
Speaker 6Go on, have a bet then. I can't now. We'll wait till Caulfield Cup day when it's there. Yeah, exactly what I thought. Sit to piss.
Speaker 5I was shocked he didn't go up favourite. The market has since adjusted. $51 for the Caulfield Cup. There you go. We might have to have something on before this podcast goes out. It'll go out. Because we know.
Speaker 6They'll turn it out of flock after Bod's tipped it.
Speaker 5No. We know how this story goes. It always ends in tears when you tip something on a podcast, in the futures market. All of a sudden it's 51 into 15 and you haven't even taken any of it.
Speaker 6The only horse that'll beat Green Spaces in the Caulfield Cup is probably going to go to a Cox Plate instead.
Speaker 5Eliana?
Speaker 6No.
Speaker 5Who?
Speaker 6You'll have to wait till next week. Oh, Jesus. All right.
Speaker 5I thought we were friends anyway.
Speaker 6Yeah, well, we're not backing her for a Caulfield Cup because I'm led to believe it's not going there, unfortunately. Okay. It's going to a Cox Plate instead.
Speaker 5Let's move on to race number five. It's a group three handicap over 2,000 metres. Yes. And we speak of that Tezima form. That's what our favourite here in Boniface brings. $3.40. Boniface. Into $3.20. Yep. Good old mate. Boniface.
Speaker 8Boniface.
Speaker 5So you are has been a good go today. $4.60 into $3.80. The Budgie Smuggler is a drifter. $4.20 out to $4.80. Matusa, mate, $1.50. And Nally Lalax, a little bit of support there. Open 15s, got into nines, is now $11. Boniface, gee, he was trying to think of a partner. But I can't. He was held up something, Rod, and last time at Round Week, he was sent around the second favourite behind Tezima, who was a little bit disappointing on the day, not beaten far. But this horse clearly should have won. If you're a weekend preview listener, then you would have known that I had him in my top four selection. And he ran fifth, which always happens. And I didn't even bother watching the race replay at first. And then ads in our group chat, Nico, were saying, go back and watch the replay. Boniface should have won easily.
Speaker 6Yep, should have shit in.
Speaker 5I went back and watched it, and gee, he should have.
Speaker 7He should have went to Caulfield and won.
Speaker 5Yeah. Maybe he would have won that. Maybe not. Who knows? Different race, different tracks. But I think he can win this race. He is a genuine 2,000 metre horse. He comes here fifth up, rock hard fit. And he meets horses that are coming back in distance, the likes of So You Are and the Budgie Smuggler. Two really nice horses. But I just think they might, be beaten for speed a little bit back in trip. So I'm keen on Boniface. And I think the price is respectable. 54 kilos, Tommy Berry.
Speaker 7I thought Elliptical went to Hong Kong.
Speaker 6It is. Come back. It's come back, yeah.
Speaker 7Oh, it did it. Okay.
Speaker 6Went like a bastard over there.
Speaker 7I think I backed it in an Australian Giddies or something like that.
Speaker 6It's not much good.
Speaker 5What are those colours called again? Hermitage stud, is it?
Speaker 7Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 5The autumn sub colours.
Speaker 7The, uh, the... 2026 VRC Derby winners colours.
Speaker 5No, you've lost me there. Who?
Speaker 7Um, Marco.
Speaker 5Right. Stormy Marco. That'll be the Caulfield Guineas winning silks too. Could be the Caulfield Guineas winning silks as well. Tron Bolt. Or a Golden Rose. Anyway, we're just, um, we're going down a path now, off road. Race number six. This is the Toy Show Quality. It is over 1100 meters and it features some quality girls making their return to the racetrack. Fillies and Mads. Quality girls. Of course.
Speaker 6Yeah.
Speaker 5One and two quality.
Speaker 6I agree.
Speaker 5Apocalyptic. Yeah. $2.30 favourite. Open $2.70. So has been hammered in the early bedding. Savvy Hallie's been $3.60 out to $4. These two have already had some pretty good stouches in the past. Prima Bella looking for three in a row has been $6.50 into $4.60. The money is clearly with her just, uh, given that she's the fit horse. Gatwick $7.50 and then Stardom is $13. But Nico, apocalyptic for the mice racehorse team. Mm-hmm. She's been trolling the house down.
Speaker 6She has, she has. didn't come up last preparation and michael freeman was pretty vocal with that i think and i know from watching her trials that she has come back a better version of herself this time in and which she needed to because she was very underwhelming last preparation but the best of apocalyptic here is the best in this race and i think um you know between that 225 to 2.50 mark i think you know there's no rush to take 225 right now i think we'll shop around that sort of 2.50 mark um come the weekend and i think that'll be a pretty good price i'm pretty happy to be with her i think she's the best horse in the race and um yeah i hope to see her back uh to winning form on the weekend so yeah keen to be with her especially on on the sort of the going that we're going to get i think savvy hallie she's an impressive horse she likes to scrap but she also likes it a bit wetter and i don't think she's going to get her preferred track on the
Speaker 5top for me interesting one i like both of these horses i do think one of them will win they're clearly the the two class but you can back one and save the other at the prizes yeah you can um i think there's a bit of 4.60 out there for savvy hallie depending on on just uh where you shop um it's an interesting one i think 2.30 is getting a little bit short for apocalyptic however there's not too many horses in the country that have been trialing better than her she won that heat last time around that's um that chili girl headwall private eye have all come through chili girl's already won private eye ran a bold second to cosmic crusader and headwall well he's probably going to be near enough to favorite in the concord in a couple weeks so everything lines up for her 1100 meters is probably a tiny bit short of her best i think she's probably better 12 to 14 savvy hallie might be in front of her in the run um and nash will give her something to think about but i'm undecided which way i'm going to have my my bigger bet on but i do think it's a race in two and savvy hallie well she did run second attempted going back to last prep in that in that um as long as around as long as tommy
Speaker 6rides this horse and doesn't ride it arrogantly it's my only knock on tommy berry he can just he can just write he just loves writing some of these things too cute and then it all happens too quick and the horses that look like that but they're not they're not they're not they're not they're not swinging don't find and put the race away like they should so that's my only knock on him just just don't write them so beautifully just give him a little go and just make sure of it rather
Speaker 5than just sit there and look pretty well that's what happened in the light fingers going back to
Speaker 6last preparation when savvy hallie beat her happened again today on prophet abel he that's his that's my biggest knock with him like he's a good jockey but that's his that's his flaw
Speaker 5hmm happens too often he does look very
Speaker 6on them when he does when they assemble as a good sit but like let him go like yeah you can't hold
Speaker 5them too long yeah you can it's interesting how australian jockeys do that and in the uk they probably they don't do that as much they're more into them from the 600 800 just different techniques different styles uh there's many ways to skin a cat i think we're going to skip race number eight the show county did you have any bets in that campioni d italia resuming at 1200 it's interesting it's gross yeah i think it's a pretty gross race for me oh he's back matchalada has been backed 750 into five and suv say are nine into 550 maybe i could have something smaller matchalada but no that's just not a race i want to get involved in well i don't
Speaker 7even know if campion detali is a it's not really a mile of 400 a minute like you think he's a sprinter no like 14 sprinter like he's not going to be a miler he's just if the target's the
Speaker 5he just is that the is that what they're doing i think so i think it's golden rose caulfield guineas it's just not very good we've we've chris waller though he always sends them to the golden rose 1400 second or third up and then he decides how is he how's he trialed um issue is he's got so
Speaker 6many of these horses i don't know where they're all going to go yeah well to me actually he's
Speaker 5actually we'll go to the guineas and some of them go to the cool more yeah to me for him for him for
Speaker 7the target for campion detalia to be the guineas is the goal that tells me that he's no good because if he was any good he'd be going to the cool more well because he's probably going to be better spent he's not he's not an actual mile the good caulfield
Speaker 6guineas ones uh still just getting through their preparation they're the ones that went to
Speaker 5queensland just watched his most recent trial and the one before that he's going fine just very
Speaker 6quiet quiet trials but um i think that tron bolt stormy marco that queensland crop of cults obviously not putting st gothard in because he's going to a cool more but i think that's that queensland crop of chris waller cults are better than the ones that are going to be going to the golden rose type i'm not a believer in camping trombone could be going to the rose yeah well he's just kicking off there he's yeah hey tommy got a scoop for us brother um yeah i think trombone and those types are a bit better like i'm not a central europe believer i'm not a yeah i'm not a campion d italian and etc etc so yeah i would still have to go to the trombone firmly favorite for the caulfield guineas yep they know you two are butt buddies you and tom morris yeah just not liked by many we share things in common envy of most not liked by many uh i don't know boy there it is well done john do we have the get your hand off at one or
Speaker 7oh the suck your chinese meal one no there's one that's like get your hand off it daryl probably from captain kim or something who knows
Speaker 5we can do a bit of work on these um on these sounding boards in the future
Speaker 6tom listens to the racing previews yeah does he yeah i doubt it no he does i'm serious okay crazy the rage what the fuck was that i know one tom that does listen to the podcast and that is um
Speaker 5tom lynch he keeps up with it he messages uh every now and then anyway enough name dropping let's move on to the group one wink stags wait for age and it sees the the clash of the two best mares in australia do we go the two best horses in australia yes yes no sir delius they're both better than him wow nah i'm gonna say i'm gonna say the two best mares in australia okay autumn glow a dollar 90 from she's alibi three dollars there's been good money for both of them today i can report that autumn glow is clearly the better backed runner though overall with bet three six five dollar ninety to three dollars you go all the way out to nineteen dollars for bavocked nineteen dollars uh she lady shenandoah is 21 and gringotts is 23 now interesting thing with this is obviously chris waller has got so many accepted in this there are 14 i think he's got 11 or maybe 10 of of the 14 which is just crazy but it's not um it's not completely unheard of in these sort of early spring races especially the i don't think the speed is going to be too um fierce bavocked you would imagine he's the main leader from barrier four lindemann wants to come across but over 1400 meters he won't be pushing the button um bavocked will go if he does run here there was some talk that he could wait for the mems next week i think you'll just go on even speed in in front midnight dynamite gets a nice run i think autumn glow will just be right there i think she probably lands in the one one and all eyes will be on she's alibi three dollars and she's alibi three dollars and she's going to be she's alibi as to where she jumps because i think she'll be at best midfield on the fence she might even be four pairs back from barrier one which will make things interesting interesting i think autumn glow is the best bet of the weekend and i think a dollar ninety currently is still a really good price i think once mbls come in play on saturday at around 10 a.m or 9 a.m for sydney we're going to see a huge crunch on autumn glow i think she's she's just the better one um suited for first up at 1400 meters we've seen her perform really well and run good ratings first up at 1400 meters whereas she's alibi her best showings have been deeper in the prep at the mile so i think autumn glow will probably map to be between two and three lengths further in front than her in the run and i think she'll put a winning break on her and it'll just be see you later at the 200 and she's alibi she might scream home but it might be too little too late
Speaker 6what do you think um yeah well i don't like this to be honest um she's an otherwise my favorite horse and i don't think i don't think this is the right move i think peter moody is going to prove to have air got his face here i think she would have been a moral next week in the in the memsie against the field that she would run against here to me it makes absolutely no sense why you would go 10 hours up the highway first up at 100 meters and then run against her and then run against her underdone to race autumn glow who's arguably the best horse in the country in her own backyard best suited advantage autumn glow it just doesn't make any sense to me why you would go it seems egotistical it seems stupid strong it seems stupid and at the end of the day peter moody he's trained more group one winners than me and fred nosky's allowed to do whatever he wants with his horse but my opinion is my opinion i think it's stupid i think he's gonna have egg on his face and i'm worried that it could completely fuck her preparation i think i think i think this is stupid i think autumn glow is near enough to a certainty i think she should be a dollar fifty and i think she's an alibi should be four dollars and that pains me to say because she's an alibi is my favorite horse i just think this is this is the wrong move and it's not gonna it's not gonna prove fruitful for it and i just really hope i really hope this doesn't derail our preparation because this is exactly what could there there is no and and the talk that caulfield the caulfield tracks not right and whatever well i hope if that's really what he thinks and he shouldn't put any horses over the caulfield track because it played well last week it played well last week and i gave it its flowers and i've been pretty harsh on the caulfield track probably as harsh as anyone i've been pretty vocal to say that it raised shitty ass through winter but that's every track we've had pretty disgusting rain and weather forecasts and for anyone that works with grass i do i know what it's like it's not easy to repair and and deal with grass and conditions and stuff throughout winter it's hard the track staff haven't had it had haven't had a break until last weekend and the track played a lot better last weekend and i think it's just a bit of a cop-out to be honest so um yeah if she's an alibi comes out and wins i'll be the first one clapping her because i love her but i think i just think this is all it's all too much i think she's got mission impossible in front of her on the weekend and and i'm with you ben i think even money for autumn glow is a fantastic price i think she should be a dollar 50 and that pain's been a say but you gotta bet with your head not your heart and um that's exactly what this is so i think i think the
Speaker 5crunch might come on saturday as i mentioned but she has to we'll soon see i don't mind that they that the race is on like it's great to see these two superstar mares clashing
Speaker 6yeah and that's another thing like i'm being selfish here because i wanted them to be separated until third up because i think if they both tackled each other third up in a king charles on a good track they're both rock hard fit the suspense builds because both of them have gone win win and it just set like that would just be somewhere like i wasn't i'm not going to sydney this year for the everest but if kaying rising was there and she's an alibi and autumn glow were there and they're both unbent for the preparation it'd be nearly one of the best race days ever to
Speaker 5attend because you're going to see so you get the feeling the bubble could burst here well i think
Speaker 6regardless of the yeah i think i think it will because if autumn glow beats cheese and alibi on the weekend which i think she will there's it just sucks the life out of the clash like i know they'll clash again but it just doesn't build up to be the the heavyweight bout that it should be third up when they're both fit they're both ready to go i just think it's going to be a really good race i just think this is the wrong move from peter moody and she's an alibi camp saturday and yeah well she's part of it but i just think this is the wrong move yeah it's an interesting opinion i don't think and you can happily clip that up i'll i'll walk by the words that i don't think
Speaker 5the majority of the masses will agree with your opinion i think most people will be saying this is great we get to see the clash that we all wanted to see in the autumn and that i can understand that too however i think if they had have met in the doncaster it would have been huge cheese alibi at the weights and now it's huge advantage autumn glow so it feels like it almost feels like with the difference in weights the difference in setup the difference in preparation that autumn glow would have had to you know it's almost like two boxes or two ufc fighters one fighting out of its weight class or division and now it's been a polar opposite sort of flip and that's that's the i think the advantage that cheese alibi would have had on autumn glow in that doncaster if they had a met is almost as big as what autumn glow has on cheese alibi this saturday will well to me it's like these two
Speaker 7horses are completely different um autumn glow is this manufactured you know 2.7 million dollar yearling trained by chris waller and james mcdonald whereas um you know she's this massive horse massive stride she's just meant to be good whereas she's alibis 10 10 000 buy and she she strides like a sprinter but you think she should get 2000 like she's she's sort of like we don't bet on stories will shut up fuck off um she strides like like she's she's like winks where she's like a genetic freak you know what i mean yeah whatever anyway i i think autumn glow probably wins but she's alibi like you know it's difficult from barrier one she's not the quickest away um and then she's probably gonna have horses in front of her and autumn glow is just gonna skip away she's gonna get the one one jay mack lives there um and then by that point it's probably too late but honestly i think she's alibi is a better horse than autumn glow i think a third up mile and everything's fair well they should have just been waiting and clashing third up well it's good for racing like if they have this massive chance if they have this rivalry where they race 10 times throughout their career which they should that's the best thing possible for racing like is everyone so excited for this like you know fangirl he's 20 to 1 aliana who is probably not that far talent for talent she's like maybe a length maybe length and a half two length and a half length and a half often a length and a half the length she's not a four she i know she's not a 400 meter horse but
Speaker 5she was second in this race last year she's a yeah she was second to vs is 20 to 1 what i want to say about aliana is they haven't accepted with a jockey on yet and there is some talk that she could wait for the memsie so yeah well that'll be interesting if she goes to a memsie she'll be behind with all
Speaker 6this now too like she missed the trial when she's chipped it chipped the bark off her leg and
Speaker 5maybe that's maybe that's why they want to wait another week give her give her another good hit out go to go to melbourne go to the memsie go to the maccabi diva go to the turnbull go to the cox plate and then go to the flemington and then have have a full um full melbourne campaign but we'll soon find out about aliana but you're right but it is uh autumn glow sort of she is she's been um what's what's the word you use manufactured manufactured it's all it's all yeah she is the rich of the rich horse and then you've got the great story and she's alibi who they bought for how much was it ten thousand ten thousand dollars peanuts and now he's you know
Speaker 7on the podium for australia's best horse yeah i think i think she is australia's best horse too
Speaker 6well there's only one saturday won't prove anything to that debate anyway so no it won't
Speaker 5i think the end of spring we'll find out who the better one is and that that is exciting um yep all right hopefully autumn glow doesn't go to the everest and she goes to a king charles instead imagine that'll be deflating all right nico some out wide bets we see the return of a very nice horse over at belmont listed race number seven uh over 1300 meters king of light the wa guineas winner who
Speaker 6went amiss in the norvally i think we can forgive that yeah we can his trials in the lead up to this have been good um this is a kickoff before he comes over east there might be one more run but he's obviously targeting a golden eagle his preparation so his races are only going to get better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better um you can happily have him in all your multi multiples and stuff like that so yeah he'll be winning on the weekend but yeah anyway not not really much else to say um but do you have anything
Speaker 5around the grounds no i've only got the one and it is tonight um punters might ombudsman they might not see this in time but it is the judge coming to get you
Speaker 6just flashed up on the on there oh it was before but there you go
Speaker 5race four tonight at york it is the juddmont over the 2063 meters to be precise and ombudsman well he won the race last year i think him and delacroix were around equal favorites and he just absolutely stomped him he's got a very good three-year-old this year to beat in constitution river they're around the two dollars uh two dollars ten and two dollars fifty with bet 365 some chance around the nine dollar mark he's item another three-year-old but i think it's a it's a war in two we're gonna see a good lead speed out in front with devil's advocate action um they're the two pace setters hawk mountain so there's pace setters for aiden o'brien and there's also a pace setter for godolphin and um john and thady gosin which makes this really interesting it's going to be a battle of stamina and i think that suits ombudsman down to the ground he's just a horse who loves these fast leads he's going to be a battle of stamina and i think that suits speed he doesn't mind sort of taking aim at a loose leader we've seen that a couple times and just absolutely romping them late and he's winning the prince of wales as he put four lengths on mini hawk and around six lengths on dariers they ran one two in the arc so it's proper form and i think as good as constitution river has been recently he beat a boy named suzy that former stood up with that horse winning last week he's got to he's got to elevate to another level again tonight to beat ombudsman so i'm having a big win for ombudsman big crack at ombudsman and i'll be saving on the seven three exacta hopefully that pays around uh the four dollar mark all right i think that's it the only the only other thing is obviously um exotics best payout on all your exotics this saturday we're doing it at the three tracks bet 365 sandown ranwick and durban and keep your eyes peeled because over the spring there will be some really big offers i was over in sydney today filming some tv commercials bonus bet back races we'll be back for the spring huge so that's that's the big news with bet 365 promotions also the six horse challenge will be coming back soon so we know everyone loves
Speaker 6participating in that one you didn't manage to get odd drift protected back did you no sorry mate
Speaker 5uh but nico has apparently cancelled himself from the podcast multi is that is that right shove the multi in your ass um so it's just yourself and i leg will be going off first as the clock lands on Saturday and it is Autumn Glow in the wing stack so that's race nine number eight Autumn Glow she's currently a dollar ninety with bet three six five I just think her setup is better first up at 1400 meters then she's alibi I think she maps better she'll be the outside lead or in the one one from barrier three we know J Mac lives there and she's alibi she's probably at best three pairs back on the fence and she'll need a little bit of luck at some stage and I just think Autumn Glow will be able to put two or three lengths on her at the top of the straight and it might it might all just come up a bit too fast first up at 14 for she's alibi so Autumn Glow is my pick
Speaker 7and bot yours is Gold Coast Bell uh really nice horse gone through the grades really quickly set three wide uh at Bendigo to win the guineas there uh look I think the favorite right now Tennessee Bound is vulnerable I don't think it's particularly that good uh I think Gold Coast Bell will start favorite and I'm pretty keen on that well so currently that prize
Speaker 5is $5.50 with bet three six five hopefully the traders can give us a bit of a juice and uh get it up to around the $6.50 maybe even $7 mark um what I was going to say is I will also be playing the Autumn Glow into Tennessee Bound uh multi as well which should suggest that one which is just over six bucks and yeah taking both can't lose let's uh move on to some questions now and we've got plenty on Twitter. First of those is from B2B Buckaroo. How much is too much for the Ombudsman Autumn Glow Double?
Speaker 6Can't talk you out of it.
Speaker 5The only slight knock with Ombudsman tonight is there is some rain forecast. He's probably better on really firm ground, but I don't think it's going to be enough rain to push it into the soft to heavy range, so he should be okay. Scott Murnard. Oh, no, I can't read out that, mate. I can't read that out. That crosses the boundary. Of recent events. Oh, boy. Yes, oh, boy. Tom Morris, get him back in here. Can the lads all sing The Ombudsman's Coming to Get You from Steven Power, a.k.a. The Racing Blogger.
Speaker 6Blogger.
Speaker 5Three, two, one. The Ombudsman's Coming to Get You. That was a fantastic rendition. That was some Dan Goring podcast style stuff. Chris the Caster. Who's most likely to go for this move in racing? It's a cyclist that's... Have you seen that footage? No. It's like a cyclist pulling the Glock out of some officer's thing right next to him. That's interesting behavior. Rowan Greger. Bot, your last few podcast multi-selections have come second. You must have a very happy Mrs. at home.
Speaker 7Hit it, Jono. I really... Oh, Jesus.
Speaker 5Oh, boy. I really should... Read these questions out in my head before I read them out loud. Autumn Glow Ombudsman Double from Simon Alvis. Yes, we're keen on that. William Geary. Who are you captaining? Autumn Glow or She's Alibi? Yes. Will is doing a supercoach, so I need to remind myself to put in my selections. He's just manufactured this sort of database and website himself, and I will be making Autumn Glow my captain in the supercoach. Racing Knuff. How far is Central Europe? Is it in the Guineas?
Speaker 6Whoa. People are going to give up on this horse. Yeah, that's... Well, he probably is a mile over. Just another one of these overhyped, Frankl, Chris Waller-trained things.
Speaker 5He'll run well in the Golden Rose, but yeah, I don't know if he's going to win the Guineas. Ryan Patton. Does it annoy any of you boys when people pronounce her She's an alibi, or is it just me?
Speaker 7Yes. I feel like I do that sometimes.
Speaker 5Yeah, it's just She's-a, not She's-an. Get it right. Unfortunately, there's going to be no Alibi. No hashtag She's-a this week. Isaac Dowling, has Bot got the Derby winner for us yet? Stormy Marko. Oh, yeah? And you did reply to him. Robert. Robert wants a midweek tip, as he always does. Haven't looked. Sorry, Robert. I'm sorry, mate. I'll give you something in the next five seconds.
Speaker 6It's a heavy 25 tomorrow at 1. We'll do not bother.
Speaker 5Let's go with race three, Warrnambool, number two, for your own good. I think it's a horse you ran very well last time, Rhiannon.
Speaker 6That first light horse that won today would have shit in. I actually liked it, and it's gone and won at Sandown today instead. Nice horse, that. Saintly something. Saintly dancer or something. It was in like race four or five. It was about even money. Would have been a gift. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5It would have won that by that far. It's not funny. I'm going to go for your own good. Race three, looks well suited here. Fourth up, ready to break its maiden.
Speaker 6If you want something filthy. If you want something filthy, the Steyo in the Jericho race will win. One by 12 last time over the staying trip. Is that a high weights race? Is it race two? Is it Redivo? Oh, yeah. Flashes are on it. One by 12 last time. It'll win by 12.
Speaker 5Yeah, take the double race two and race three. Jack Jones. If you're itching. He's got two here. Can't wait to listen to this one. And then, love autumn glow, favorite horse, but who is the smokey in the field to shock everyone? Lady Shenandoah, Baywalked, question mark.
Speaker 7I'd say Baywalked just in case he gets away with something, but. Yep.
Speaker 5I'd agree with that. I'd agree with that. If, if, if one of the two girls doesn't win, which would be a massive shock, it's probably Baywalked. He's a 1400 meter specialist. He's won the golden rose in the all aged from the front. Both were high rating races. He's just, it's one of those horses, isn't he? About 12 is too short. A mile might be too far.
Speaker 7Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's why, that's why 400 meters is just a shit distance.
Speaker 5Wow. A horse just happens to be at specialist distance and you'd think it's, you don't like it.
Speaker 7I'm too slow for sprinting distance. Mate, where would Behemoth be without 1400 meter races? Well, he started like in the market in Everest. He was a nice horse. He would have won something. Where would Streets of Avalon be without 1400 meter races?
Speaker 6The Brightside CV wouldn't look as good if 1400 meters wasn't a distance. True. True. Just be careful what barbs you want to throw about over that side of the table.
Speaker 5Instagram questions now before we wrap up. Stu Ferenci.
Speaker 6If you don't read it out, I am. So it's up to you. No, no, we can't. Why? It's completely tame. I've got it in front of me. Which one is it? The Mayor of Adelaide. Okay. I'm extra in Brotherhood. I've booked a room at the Pullman in Melbourne after the Autumn Glow after party. Who's coming?
Speaker 5Oh boy. Jesus.
Speaker 6What's wrong with that? He wants to, he's booked a hotel room for the night.
Speaker 5Yeah. I'm going to let that go straight through to the keeper.
Speaker 6I'm not getting involved.
Speaker 5Michael Webb. What price do you three think we will see for Kane rising in the Everest?
Speaker 6$1.20. I think $1.40. Maybe Stu should have booked a room at The Crown. I'll go $1.35. The Crown. The Crown.
Speaker 5Also Mexican brother in how far will Platinum Pearl win the Oaks by? Need tickets please.
Speaker 6It's good news today. Ran good today. So that was, was that? That's the Frankfurt.
Speaker 5Was that debut? Was that?
Speaker 6Yep.
Speaker 5Yep.
Speaker 6Speaking of, speaking of jockeys riding arrogantly, Brownie rode Garners at Garn pretty arrogantly. That was the same race. Yeah. At the Saintly.
Speaker 5Oh, I backed Resolutely. So it was out the back and never a hope. But, um, did Garners at Garn half cat it up?
Speaker 6Well, I don't know. You know, you ride those type of horses that aren't exactly superstars. You ride them cute and they don't find.
Speaker 5Damon Winley, how far will them glow? I'll go a length and a half. Uh, Stu Frenchy, last one. Do I risk my hammy this week and play or miss one week more and save for finals? Need the money.
Speaker 6Spoke to him about this today. He wanted your opinion.
Speaker 5Um, if you, if you've got hammy awareness and you've got finals coming up,
Speaker 6then just say win this week. They finish second. Second and get the double chance. They lose this week. They're in the eliminations.
Speaker 5Well, I need, I need better context on how bad the hammy is, to be honest.
Speaker 6He hasn't played in three weeks or something.
Speaker 5Stu, that's a, that's a big boy grown up decision that you need to make yourself.
Speaker 6I'm glad he's come to Ben for advice and Ben's giving him that. Nothing. Sit down. No. All right.
Speaker 5All right. I'm not going to sit on the fence. I'm not going to sit on the fence. I'll go. Don't play. Don't play. Don't play. If it was a final play. Last round of the season. Don't play. Come on, Butler. Can we have a, uh, a spring big race prediction section on the podcast before the spring? Yep. We can do like a bit of a futures preview at some stage. Yep. Try and get one G haul on. Yep. Um. Maybe next week. Yeah. We do.
Speaker 6We do have another guest possibly lined up next week. So. Well, I haven't even heard about this one. Yeah, you do. You do know about it. We're not announcing it yet though. Oh, okay. Maybe I'll do that.
Speaker 5Brett Fitzpatrick. If you're all to pick one futures bet.
Speaker 6We're talking a bot.
Speaker 5All right. Everyone, everyone stand by. If you were all to pick one futures bet, either for a win or a place, what would it be? Fitzy. So he's trying to construct a futures multi, obviously.
Speaker 6Um. Okay. Rising Everest goes and everything, but, um, what do you mean? Well, some, some good ones have gone like autumn low this week's a good start. You're going to get even money. That's a great start to your multi.
Speaker 5Autumn. Low to win this week. Well, she's alibi to win the golden Eagle.
Speaker 6Well, it's a bit hard now because the prices have changed a little bit, but I thought the, the futures multi that I took on Sunday night was a very good bet. I took autumn low to win this week. I took natural fling to win the Moira at a conceit, considerably bigger price than what she currently is into carrying rising to win the Everest into bracket bet. Sir, Delius and Aliana to win the Cox plate at a hundred to one.
Speaker 5Yeah, the bracket bed of Sir D'Elias and Aliana and the Cox Plate's a good one, I think.
Speaker 6So if you wanted to, you could, you could take Ka-Ying Rising and the bracket bet and the Cox Plate and add it with whatever else you wanted to.
Speaker 1Yep.
Speaker 5Cooper Albers, um, how far does Autumn Glow win by and, and how was Ben's trip to hospital for leather poisoning?
Speaker 6If you really don't want that information to come out, you need to make sure that you're paying off the right people that doesn't get leaked and your, and your beautiful girlfriend doesn't post it all over her social media.
Speaker 5What, so I don't get tagged?
Speaker 6No. Well, just if you don't want people knowing about how many touches you get. Oh no.
Speaker 5That's not, there's, there are worse things.
Speaker 6If you're worse things, you could be accused
Speaker 7of touching.
Speaker 5There are, there are, there are worse things.
Speaker 6Oh boy.
Speaker 5Well, I thought we were going to let things go through to the keeper.
Speaker 6Cut that out, Jono. No. Fair dinkum. Um. Tom, come back in here, please.
Speaker 5We need a time, we need a time, we need a time out. You weren't talking about that.
Speaker 6No, I was talking about kids.
Speaker 5All right, good. People who are offended, just, just stop. No, I wasn't talking about that. I don't know what I was talking about. Just shut up. Just shut up. You're digging yourself a big, big graveyard, a big hole. Sorry. Far out. Need to clip your ears, boy. Um, leather poisoning. Yeah, well, the team we played against last week, they just sat back and did nothing. So anyway, it is what it is. James Dawson, apocalyptic armor guard job. Um.
Speaker 6Not quite armor guard. Not quite.
Speaker 5Max Dore, go into the Everest and want to cheer him coming and rising. Potentially. Essential Futures Multi with Kaying Rising last leg. Well, I'd start with Autumn Glow this week. I would go Kaying Rising. Natural Fling in the Moyer. Natural Fling in the Moyer and then Kaying Rising. I think there are a couple of horses.
Speaker 6Don't bother about including Shears and Alibi because who knows? Moody's probably taken her to bloody Perth to run her next. So you couldn't be confident that she's running into Maccabi Diva. Who would know what's going on?
Speaker 5As it stands, I think three horses are a good chance to go to the Underwood. Cosmic Crusader, Birdman and Buckaroo and I think one of them will win that.
Speaker 6I've got one for you, but you can't start your multi. If you're going to take Autumn Glow, you just have to take Autumn Glow this week and you can all upstart your multi next week. I've got an absolute living, breathing moral next week in the Heatherley. But I'm not revealing that until there's a market out.
Speaker 5Kizza Stanley, Autumn Glow, Shears, Alibi, Kaying Rising, 1500 metres. Who have you got? Who would win?
Speaker 7Okay. Kaying. Probably Kaying Rising.
Speaker 5I don't know. Depends. Probably Kaying. I don't know. Depending on prices, I could go Autumn Glow. Josh. Just wondering how many lengths Campioni D'Italia wins by. Just wins. There you go. Confident. I think 1200 metres might be a little bit short of his best, but he can win. He's been trialling well as we looked back on. Jack Geno. Is backing Ombudsman into Autumn Glow a good bet? Yes. I think that was the third time. I think that was the third time someone's asked that. I like the multi.
Speaker 1Yep.
Speaker 5And Hugh Truin. Thoughts on Idle Flyer to run top five? Gee, that's hardly ambitious, isn't it? Top five?
Speaker 6Is she in the wings?
Speaker 5No, she's in the ... I'm pretty sure she's in the sprint, isn't she?
Speaker 6In the apocalyptic race?
Speaker 5She's not at all ... Oh, no. She is in the wings. I thought she was resuming in the show count. I don't know.
Speaker 6There's too many good horses in that race. Like, she could run well and run eighth. Like, it's just not the right bet. Just take Autumn Glow at even money and don't try and be ... don't try and outsmart yourself.
Speaker 5She could run top five, but yeah, it's ...
Speaker 6Yeah, but what's the ... it's just ... at what price is she? To top five? Yeah. She's probably the same price as Autumn Glow is to win.
Speaker 5Yep. All right. I think that is it, fellas. Well done. Hopefully, no one got offended by this podcast. Don't take anything we say ... Or joke about seriously.
Speaker 6And if you did, don't come back. We do understand there are ... Plenty of other vanilla podcasts for you to listen to.
Speaker 5We do understand there are more serious things at play around Australia right now, but yeah, we're just three lads trying to have a laugh. So, hopefully, you can do that. Trying to do their Fred best. Hopefully, you can do that with us and back a couple winners. Good luck this weekend. We see the return of two of the best horses in Australia, Autumn Glow and She's Alibi in the Group 1 Wing Stakes. We hope it is. An absolute belter. You win some, you lose more.
