Why Trump's Rallies Are Turning into Epic Disaster

Donald Trump’s recent rally campaign is unraveling under mounting public pressure, as protests, protests, and internal chaos disrupt what was once a tightly controlled political spectacle. The once-mighty rallies now face dwindling attendance, shrinking venues, and widespread ridicule, fueled by both real-world protests and viral moments of absurdity—like the infamous "shove the ballroom up your fat ass" exchange and Trump’s increasingly erratic fly-past antics over Washington. These actions, especially the low-flying, gold-plated plane over the White House during Halloween, have sparked public fear and legal scrutiny, with the District of Columbia issuing warnings and the military budget being questioned as a costly form of personal indulgence. Meanwhile, the political landscape is shifting: candidates like Adam Hamilton in Kansas and Rob Sands in Iowa are gaining traction, undermining Trump’s appeal with credible, empathetic messaging. The front-row supporter Adam Rodogner has been arrested on child pornography charges, exposing the moral contradictions within the MAGA movement’s grassroots fan culture. JD Vance has become a symbol of political evasion, deflecting serious questions with irrelevant diversions. Key figures like Joe Rogan are distancing themselves from Trump, signaling a loss of influence among younger voters. In states like Ohio and Iowa, moderate Democrats are winning public trust, while polling shows a dramatic decline in MAGA appeal. The Pope’s historic decision to vote in the U.S. election—despite being a foreign head of state—adds a symbolic layer of critique, underscoring the broader erosion of the movement’s invincibility. As the election nears, the narrative shifts from dominance to vulnerability, with a growing consensus that Trump’s campaign is losing its grip on the American public.

They are being flooded with protests, and these protests have now become the thing that everybody is talking about. And also some of the projects, some of the heckling is hilarious. It's hilarious, isn't it? This is what people are seeing on television. This is what people are seeing on social media. Not just people who get Trump seeing this, that's what people in the Trump can do. The Trump world are seeing as well. They are seeing these rallies go not well. We're seeing them, and we talked to this last week, Norma Desmond. The venues are getting smaller, the seats are getting emptier. It's not the barmed Trump's ego that it had been. I'm Joanna Coles. This is the Daily Beast podcast. It's Friday, which can mean only one thing. We are going to get caught up on the week and look forward to Tuesday with our executive editor, Hugh Dockedy, Hugh, a once-in-a-talent news editor of his generation. I think that's fair to say, Hugh, shove that ballroom up your fat ass. We are going to be talking about Donald Trump. Is he doing rallies? Is he not doing rallies? He doesn't know what he's doing. We don't know what he's doing, and the Republicans don't know what he's doing. So much to get into, who's been the most successful heckler? What has happened to that guy who was sitting on the front row of almost every rally and has photos with almost every mega king or queen will get into it. JD Vance has perfected the non-answer answer and so much more. Stay tuned, and before we get into it, just a quick reminder, to please subscribe to the Daily Beast podcast wherever you get your podcast. We are among a minority of independent media, and so we rely on you subscribing, liking, sharing this podcast with your friends. And just a reminder on Tuesday, Michael Wolfe and I will be here from eight o'clock onwards on midterm election day live. We will have constant updates about the races from Hugh. We'll be running in and out with pieces of paper, frantically texting. We'll be open for live chat so you can ask us your questions and make the points you want to make. So eight o'clock, YouTube, live, and wherever else you get your podcast. Okay, Hugh, where do we begin? Where do we begin? I cannot wait for election night, Joanna. I can't wait to see you and Michael. It's going to be amazing. I don't know if it's going to be amazing, but it is going to be fun. I think it's going to be more amazing than Air Force One flying over you at five hundred feet. What? Was that you knowing it was coming? That was horrifying. So the, the, the interweb, I think we call it, uh, these modern people call it that. It looks like an AI video of Gryfft Force One as you have named the plane, the gift from the Cataris to Donald Trump, the luxury plane. No one's ever seen anything like it, but it had to immediately go and get refitted for security and swept for bugs. Um, the president's plane suddenly did a kind of, I want to say, almost did a role over the White House. What was it about? Um, White House was celebrating Halloween on Thursday night. Um, it is, of course, Halloween season. And trick or treat was to fly Gryfft Force One over the White House twice, just about as the sun was going down in DC and slight, you know, slight fall off of the people of the District of Columbia at nobody had told them in advance. And suddenly there was probably around 350 tons of metal and wood and gold. Gold? Gold, actually, 350 tons of gold, I think. Gold flying over their heads at as low according to the air, you know, sort of monitoring software as low as 400 feet, the, the buildings in DC can't go higher than 500 feet, the height of the Washington as well, just as well. It was, it was at rooftop height. People were looking up and absolutely terrified. If you're watching on YouTube, you can see some of the videos that people were taking. It's crazy. And it didn't do it once. It came back and did it twice. The council of the District, the council and the District of Columbia, the legislature has put out a statement saying, what an earth is going on. People at Reagan National ever flown in or out of DC or you've been to DC, you know that this, it's got this very local airport that's really, really close to the, you know, to all the, all the sites and all the monuments and, you know, where people live. There was a ground stop for half an hour there. Nobody knew United and Delta and American that fly from there had no ideas on the site. Oh, sorry. We've got a ground stop for what's described as an executive move for maneuver. And that usually means Marine 1 is on its way to Andrews Air Force Base. No, it was the biggest plane that Boeing has ever produced flying at maybe 500 feet over the White House because it was Halloween and the Miller and Hexath children were getting their candy. I'm almost speechless. The idea of being stuck on the runway and having your flight delayed and then all the knock on impacts of that for anybody catching a connection. I mean, I am speechless at the idea that Trump thought he could do this. And again, we go back to this is a presidency. This is an administration of one man who wants to do what he wants to do and the hell with the rest of us. And he's been obsessed by these fireworks. And if again, if you're watching, if you're, if you're listening rather on Apple or Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts and we're just showing some highlight pictures of other fly pass over the White House, you will remember July the 4th, where he basically took over the airspace in DC and you know, people, you know, people are like, oh, I enjoy it. Who doesn't enjoy a fly pass and there's another one, another one, another one, their dogs were howling, their children were crying, you know, this was, he is becoming, he has become obsessed by the idea that he can get Air Force 1, particularly. He loves showing off this gold plane to do fly pass, it's, they do, he goes to stadium, they do a fly pass over the stadium. We saw that on them, some of his tours down to college football. He sits in the White House and he says, I'm going to have some people around. I know I'll get Air Force 1 to fly over. It's an obsession. It's like a make-a-wish. It's like make-a-wish president, absolutely. And the cost to the tax payer, we are paying for this, this is what I think. I'm not sure how much people have connected this, maybe they think, oh, it's just military budget, military spending, it's actually tax payers' dollars going into keeping Donald Trump entertained because as he gets older, it takes more to keep him entertained. And just as you say, it is technically military spending, the military budget, of course, has been blown by Pete Hegseth, who was down there with his third wife and four of their assaulted children. He's blown through the military budget with the combat operations in Iran, he's asking for 1.5 billion, well, some of it was to fund these two fly pass. Well, Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump have three wives in common, Melania was also there. If you go to the Daily Beast website, you can find all the footage we've got clips of all this, but I'd like to show the clip of Melania because she was, she was all in black. Melania didn't need to dress up, she was all in black and I just thought of the word which, because, I mean, designer which, well, and then the little child dressed as woody for a story, looking totally confused, like, where am I supposed to look, what's happening? I mean, the whole thing looked like an AI video, didn't it? I mean, he made AI videos, but he's turning into an AI video. I mean, this is sort of AI slot, because, oh, I've, you know, I've got on the AI and, you know, chat GPT, give me a movie of, and there we go, and it's real life. Nobody wants to wake up feeling like Scrooge. Start your day on the right side of the bed with a great night's sleep on a Casper. This podcast is sponsored by Casper. He was planning to do tele rallies over the weekend, like an aging evangelist. But what actually is he doing now? I just get this image off of him as a sort of God has healed you. Please give money. Well, they've got to do something. He was ready to do something. But first of all, why would he, because we know that he loves rallies, right? He loves feeding off the crowd. Why did he decide that he'd had enough rallies? And then what was this morning's decision? So we've had some breaking news overnight. Yesterday, Donald Trump did his usual winter rally. That's what he loves. He loves a rally. And when he came back, the White House, they're on his way back. The White House briefed that they were canceling the next and final rallies that were being planned in Iowa and in Kansas. Okay, so let's just talk about the people that he's going to support this. So in Kansas, he's going to support the incumbent senator who is a doctor, who it turns out has been building people. Yes. As they go bankrupt from not having paid him. So Roger Marshall, sitting senator, just to fill people in on how Republican is the Kansas Senate seat. The last time Kansas voted in a Democrat into the Senate was in 1932. 1932. Wow. There is literally only one person alive in the United States who could have voted in that election. And they didn't live in Kansas. They don't live in Kansas. America's oldest living woman lives in Pennsylvania and at that time probably was living in Georgia. So we know that there is nobody alive who voted successfully to get a Democrat into the Senate. Right. Kansas is Bob Dole. It's Ruby Red. You can't get any redder. Unfortunately for Roger Marshall, he's been an epically bad candidate. He was a doctor. He was an OB-GYN in fairly rural park Kansas. And his history as a doctor has now come back to bite him. Because as you say, Joanna, he was building his patients. Of course, we all know you get filled. Then he was pursuing them when they didn't pay the bills. And he was charging interest rates of like 18% on medical debt to people with no money. He used the court system to go after debts. And that doesn't play well. One of the people that he was pursuing was a mother who had a miscarriage. And while she was being pursued for the debt, the stories of course are heart-pending. Who doesn't, you know, everybody can relate to the failures or difficulties of health care. And the idea that the senator who is supposed to be there to help you out has previously been coming after people from medical debt. Just atrocious. Then on top of that, people began to say, "So, this senator, where does he really live?" And, you know, he got a job in D.C. He always moved to D.C. Okay, fair enough. But it turned out he'd actually moved to Florida, according to his critics. And he was barely, barely in Kansas. He's not in Kansas anymore. He's not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy. You know, in this deep red, deep red state, he has paid a tremendous price. The polls are really bad for Roger Marshall. Just the average has been around 50-47 against him. He has this formidable candidate going up against him. Adam Hamilton. He has a preacher. He's the pastor of a mega-charch. He has been, you know, one of the things, of course, we were just talking about preachers. He's a statewide figure already, which obviously always helps in a large, you know, huge area that Kansas is. And that means that he has been seen on television for a long time by people, people know who he is. And the attacks that you can, you know, the Republicans have consistently tried to level against Democrats about, you know, hating religion and not being of faith. But of a problem, you can't call a pastor anything but a man of faith. And he, as he's been this formidable candidate, 50-47, devastating new poll from the Washington Post. He says 52, that Hamilton is on 52, and Roger Marshall is on 43. And there is also Libertarian candidate who has got not significant, you know, like, electable support, but has split off some of the vote from people who are disgusted at Roger Marshall. So it's a, I would say it's a red alert, but I guess it's a blue alert. Right. And Adam Hamilton also seems interesting because he couldn't be less DSA. He essentially presents as an independent, I would say, I've listened to lots of interviews. He's incredibly articulate, very good speaker, as you say, he's a preacher. So he's used to drawing a crowd. And he seems like the kind of candidate that makes sense for the Democrats to run in a state that hasn't voted Democratic for a senator since 1932. I love the idea that there's only one person in the U.S. that could have legally voted for him. And she lives in Pennsylvania. Right. So that's an incredible, an incredible, unexpected situation in Kansas. So Donald Trump was asked by a reporter from Reuters why he wasn't going to go there anymore. And he said he was doing great, didn't need to go to Kansas, didn't need to go to Kansas, but he's changed his mind. So last night, he didn't need to go to Kansas because we're doing so well. And Roger Marshall was doing so well on the polls this morning. Without the benefit by the way of any different polling, this polling was available last night. Right. Without that, but without the benefit of the polling, we're back in Kansas. To those of you listening in or near Kansas, Selena is the place to head to see the last Trump rally in your state before the election. So he is going back in person. He's going back in person. Absolutely. Crazy minute, crazy shift. And what's this, you know, what's this tell us? Well, first of all, it tells you a lot of the Kansas, right? There's a panic of don't bring Donald Trump. He's bad for us. Oh, actually hold on. Maybe he will bring out some votes, but it's a panic. You know, there's no, there's no clear strategic sense of, you know, direction here. But also, what's going on in the White House? He was, he was in, he was out, you know, this is, um, this is obviously a problem. And the next state that he's going to go to in Iowa. And that's another state that we had thought was Ruby Red, where there is an incredibly talented democratic challenger. Josh Turek. Right. Um, we have two actually. This is a fascinating thing. We also have a really live governor's race in Iowa. Iowa has had Republican governors for 20 years. So Iowa has an open governor's seat because of term limits. And it has the state auditor already in a statewide office. Rob Sand is running as the Democrat and not dissimilar to the Kansas Senate race. He sounds like an independent. This is, you know, attacks on this sort of DSE wing of the Democrats, they don't land. This guy is as Midwestern Iowa, as you can possibly imagine, incredibly wholesome, incredibly charismatic. Um, he has obviously converted Republicans to his side. We've seen the report. He's got a couple of people. The Republicans and the Democrats, they send, um, you know, sort of party volunteers to follow rival candidates around. And he's converted to all of them to supporting him. Oh really? It was sent to monitor him for seeing bad things. And now, and they came to all his, you know, his campaign events and now they're on his sides. Well, that's hilarious. And who is his Republican? He is running against a guy called Zach Lann. Um, and Zach Lann is again, he's kind of a problematic candidate for the Republicans. Uh, he says, he talks about being a sixth generation, Iowa, um, that his great, great, I can't even count the numbers, you know, grandfather, settled Iowa, uh, joined the second Iowa cavalry and went to the Civil War. Great. Um, slight flow is, he mostly appears to have been living in Kansas in recent years. Well, he should be the Kansas. And maybe he should have gotten some options to be running in Florida. In fact, um, the swamp, our must read gossip news gossip, and I'm saying gossip, but you know stories from DC about what's really going on, um, tracked him. He was running on his Strava device and he was in Kansas while he was running. So he was running an Iowa for, you know, to be governor, he was actually physically running in Kansas. Again, what candidate problematic and the polling average there has rubsand at 50.6, some polls have put him up into 52 or 53 and Zach Lann, uh, polling average 44. This, so it's incredibly done to you. Um, and Iowa and Kansas, you know, these are like ground zero for are the polls right. And we remember we all remember the Iowa poll that said that, um, that camera was going to win Iowa. And it was out by what was it, 20 points or something. And didn't Donald Trump then threaten? Yes. The pollster. He didn't fight through the pollster. Um, and that has been a disastrous court case. You'll be shocked to learn, um, that, uh, unfortunately, that sort of assault on free speech did not go down well in court and is still not going down well in court. Sorry about that. Um, but yeah, these, these rallies. This is going, these are going to be his final closing message. He's also doing one tonight in Florida, Daytona Beach. Um, it will actually have happened by the time you're watching this. Uh, if you're watching. - Right, 'cause we're reporting this Friday morning. - Yes, but that's it, that's all folks. And the reason he canceled the rally is the thing I think we should talk about. The reason that he's going back to them is cause of panic, but the reason he canceled is because they've been going off the rails. - Go on, go on. - Well, we have some incredible clips, and I'm sure people have seen some of these, 'cause they're so great. Trump rallies, and we talked about this last week, there used to be, there used to be very occasionally, there'd be a protest, or once I don't know, every couple of months, somebody would finally get in and they'd make a muffled noise, and it'd be, you know, sort of taken away, and it wouldn't really be a thing. They are being bludded with protests. And these protests have now become the thing that everybody is talking about. - And also some of the projects, some of the heckling is hilarious, isn't it? - In fact, let's run, we've got a couple that I think of, you know, just defying the problem here. - Okay, let's see them. - To the consternation of the people that protect us. Oh, go home. Go home. Go home. - You can see Trump finding it funny. - I know. - That when he goes, "Shuff the ballroom up your fat ass." - Right, and, you know, Jimmy Kimmel has made T-shirts, and it's, what, it's so. - Jimmy Kimmel's made T-shirts. - Jimmy Kimmel has brought water, Jimmy. I need one of those T-shirts right now. Come on, Jimmy. - It's so on. It's exactly what people talk about his looks, the ballroom obsession in so few words, so perfect, and then the next one in "Chillikothi" in Ohio. - Trump went on the Jeffrey Epstein play. - The Trump went on the Jeffrey Epstein play. - Butter Scotch, Shillikothi. - Look, get spiced, Pino. - Come on, Pino. - I want my crown. - Ow. - No political violence. - We're all bodies. - Are we bodies? - Hey, guys. Where are we going? - Yeah. - Hell yeah. - The next one here. - Hell yeah, no political. We're bringing me to a guest room. Now we see the violence inherited in the system. - He's been uninvited, sir. - Why? Why am I uninvited? I'm sick of hit songs. - Where? - No, I want to go back. We were having fun. Such a dreamy night here. Beautiful Ohio, two lovers. - Also funny. And Trump obviously not liking that one as much. - Oh, no. - Because, so much response to that. - Very, very much. - And if you're listening on YouTube, we are playing the rest of that video because the person who did it kept the camera rolling and it's quite an insight. It shows people trying to get close to him. It shows the police all laughing about it. - Right. - And what it shows is that this whole event was derailed and that's the problem. These events have been derailed time after time and after time by these protests and not just in the event, but outside the events as well. One of the things that Trump loves to see is people who's 20,000 people waiting outside for me. - Right, there's a line two miles long. - Two miles long. - And he's said about that, you know. - Quite often Fox news particularly. And also some of the other right wing streamers and so on. They go and talk to the crowd. And that's going off the rails too. - So we should show one of this is my favorite one. - Tom, why are you here this one? - Well, in the late '70s, I was a little too young to get involved and go to South America for the Jonestown Masker, but this is as close as I'll ever get. So that's why I'm here. - Wait, the Jonestown Masker? - That's right. - She's nothing like being a cult right up front, man. - All right. So maybe this is not a Trump supporter right now. - I don't know if it's a Trump supporter. - Maybe it's not a Trump supporter. But what I loved about it was how sophisticated he was in terms of he's leading the poor interviewer along. And he's like Jonestown as if you were too stupid to understand what Jonestown is. You must have made some mistake. And then he goes, yeah, up front with a cult. And you're like, yes, well, way to land it. - And also he'd walked out the look, you know, I'm sure the beard is his own, but you know. - No, he looks like if you were looking for someone to Voxport, you would go up to this pan. So he looks like a Trumper. - Yeah, I think. - He looks like a Trumper. - And the thing is this is what people are seeing on television. Not just people who hate Trump seeing this. That's what people in the Trump, the Trump world are seeing as well. We're seeing them. And we talked for this last week, Norma Desmond. The venues are getting smaller. The seats are getting emptier. It's not the BAM to Trump's ego that it had been. - Every day your personal information is exposed somewhere online. Your email address, financial details, even your health information. It's not about being careful anymore. It's about hundreds of data brokers who collect and sell your data without your consent. But they can't harm you if they can't find you. And that's where Incogni comes in. Incogni automatically sends removal requests and follows up across more than 420 harmful sites, helping get your personal information removed from places you may not even know exist. And he will notice the difference, too, 'cause he's very talented. I mean, people hate it when we say this, but you have to give it to Trump. He's good at working a room. He's talented in that way. And he's lost his ear for it. You can tell. And you can tell the way he laughed when the guy said, "Shab that ballroom up your face." He turns around and he's laughing, 'cause he's like, "Damn, they got me, I think." So we've also had some problems, however, with a familiar face at Trump's rallies, right? Because there are these people that are called the front row joes. We know the man who wears the Bricksuit. With the Bricksuit? Yeah, that you pointed him out to me. Yes. Very early on as the rallies kicked back up. Yes. And then there's another character called Adam Rodogner, who has had his photo taken, done selfies with absolutely everybody. I mean, with all the mega royalty. And what's happened to. Well, this is actually not a good story. Adam Rodogner has been arrested on suspicion of or charges of possession of child sexual abuse material. What people call child pornography? And we know that term is obviously not accurate, 'cause it's child abuse. He is denying these charges. He is currently in jail, but waiting, you know, processing or whatever, in Cairo County, the Cleveland suburbs that he's from. But this is a tale that resonates because this guy, if you're not watching, if you're listening, we're going through some of the photos right now, but they are a whos who of absolutely everybody in the MAGA movement, because these front row joes go to every rally. They are there every rally. And of course, we're kind of getting, like going behind the magic, it is near something here, that people think, oh, Trump's coming, these people are all my neighbors. He must be popular, I'm going to vote for him. That has been the sort of the network effect that they've wanted with these Trump rallies. Well, this guy lives in Brook Park, which is one of the inner ring suburbs of the west side of Cleveland, and he's been pictured all around the country. So these rallies are not really that organic. These front row joes are traveling. - This page, that it's completely safe. - It does an element of sage here, and they're not being paid, right? They are fanatics, they want to go to this. Mr. Brick's suit is for it out of his own pocket, and his earnings from being a MAGA influencer. And he's only got, we've got a picture of him right now. He's the guy that wears the bill, the wall suit. It looks like Bricks, for those people who are listening. He's only got one, he has to get dry cleaned regularly, luckily, good to hear that. He wouldn't want one that's not dry cleaned regularly. But he goes to all of them, and that's the problem. This front row joe, Adam Rudogna, some of the pictures we've got, you know, don junior and Kimberly Guildfile, who, obviously, all of this, we'll get him a child of Kirk, we'll get him, and this is really bad. He's from Ohio. We've got him with Vivek Ramaswami. - Well, we should talk about Vivek Ramaswami, because obviously he's had terrible week. - Terrible. - After the campaign ad that he did with Amy Acton's mother. We talked about this last week. They're both running for Ohio Governor. He was a partner with Elon. Elon Musk running Doge, and then Elon basically fires him as far as I can see. He's a man who, you know, I don't know him personally, but it does appear that he's not very good at maintaining friendships. Well, he's a man in search of a portfolio, I think. He's made a lot of money through healthcare. He now wants to run Ohio, and he put out this terrible ad, which I think our viewers and listeners will be familiar with using Amy Acton's mother, who, in fact, protected her husband, Amy Acton's stepfather against accusations which went to court of rape. And he, in fact, then fled the state and died still as a fugitive. Amy Acton's brother came out and said, "This is absolutely outrageous." Amy Acton came out and said, "Yes, this is all true. We lived in a tent when I grew up. We were homeless. We were all abused by our stepfather in various ways," and her mother tragically supported the stepfather. And one of his biological children was tracked down this week by the Daily Mail. Right. And she had never known Amy Acton, but said, "Yes, this was absolutely true." Right. She said her own sister had been raped by her father. So it's horrendous, you know, you could say this allegation of rape against this man was never technically adjudicated by a court, so technically it's not guilty. Well, it appears very credible. It is the case, as you say, that he fled from Youngstown in Slovenia. And I know many people would listen to that and say, "Well, why didn't they just go and arrest him?" This was the 1970s that this happened. He died in the 1990s. And the truth is, this is before the internet, for a lot of electronic communication. And people could live as fugitives for years and even decades, as this guy did, without just catching up with them as long as they didn't go to Ohio and get pulled over by a trooper or something. Right. Right. So there are many people living as fugitives and court marks, particularly if you are from a purer jurisdiction, Youngstown is not a well-off place, it may well be that the sheriff's department there just doesn't have the resource to go and pick up all but most serious offenders. And this obviously was a very serious offence, by the way, but totally credible. And yet, Ramaswami ran this ad using this very obviously troubled 82-year-old lady who's been living out of her car. Well, she looks as if she's been living out of her car. I mean, why he would think that that would be an aspirational ad for anybody living in Ohio is just extraordinary. And he appears to have paid a price at polls. The latest polls are universally, well, I was going to say almost universally. There is a very strongly Republican-coated poll that says that he's up within the margin of error. Those are putting Amy Actin up outside the margin of error by 48-44, 46-49-44, 50-48 on a margin of error of 2, so that's actually outside margin of error. The Republicans, there is a lot of chatter in the Republican circles that we are hearing, that other people are hearing, that Ohio's a done deal. It's gone. That Ramaswami is a deeply flawed candidate and it's going to lose. Now, we don't know, right? That's why we want you to come and tune in on Tuesday night when we will begin to find out what is happening. Well, the Republican outgoing governor, Mike DeWine, came down on said, "This is a terrible ad. Please withdraw this ad." Mike DeWine, not a mega-governor. I think there's a kind of tragic element to this that Mike DeWine is 78. He has healed, I think, literally every statewide office, but certainly close to every statewide office in Ohio, he's been a totally general, he's been senator, he clearly has been a public servant all his life. He also came out and said, when JD Vance and Donald Trump were talking about the reaching the cats that eat in the dogs, he came out and said, "No, no, no, that's not what's going on here." When you say that, you breed hate in our community, which is the last thing we need. People over decades had crossed the aisle to vote for Mike DeWine because they saw him as a very moderate, respectful figure, devout Catholic, and part of his appeal on that devout Catholic thing was that he was very seen as being a pro-life and that was a powerful motivator for some people, but also on the Catholic thing, he was pro-immigration. He was speaking out very violently about people of Haiti in Ohio and all of this, he hasn't withdrawn his endorsement for Vivek, Ramaswamy, and it kind of looks like a bit of a sad end to a career that he got dragged into this mega firestorm. And if Ramaswamy loses, then it's very likely, you know, what it's not going to be like, if Ramaswamy loses, that's a Democrat in the governor's mansion. It is also extremely likely that the Senate seat is going to be taken back by Sherrod Browne. He lost, but he ran way ahead of other Democrats, he ran ahead of Kamala Harris, he lost by a farce more emergent than Harris, and he's a very well-known statewide politician. He's up against John Hustard, whose ass has been the focus of Trump's campaigning. I have no view on Sherrod Browne's rear end, but there were polls that said that as many as 25% of people who were going to vote thought he was already the incumbent senator. So fine, they hadn't even noticed that because he hadn't done anything else. Maybe he used to show more of his ass, but this, you know, we've talked about Kansas, we've talked about Iowa, we've talked about Ohio. These are the places that, if they flip, first of all, on the ass front, it will say that MAGA has been showing its ass, and also they will flip Trump will flip out, because these places, they are Trump country, that's what they thought, and Republicans thought we've converted it, and you just put in these MAGA candidates, and they will win. Well, if on Tuesday night we see that not happening, and we see these moderate, you know, as you see, articulate, um, democratic, normal, normal, normal, normal, normal, normal people without tons and tons of personal baggage. So there's quite an effective heckle of Vivek Ramaswami at, uh, at Arali, I think he's doing where someone, well, let's play the clip. Here's the problem, people are talking about this obviously relates to the allegation against Donald Trump, um, that there has been sexual offenses against children in the Epstein files. Well, and also I think the AMI action, I mean it's both, you know, we've got both the reference to the wider, the wider national picture, um, and of course, Donald Trump robustly denies this, and you know, there have been no arrests or charges or anything like that, um, but he, Donald Trump, was so closely associated with the worst pedophile that America was, you know, the worst public figure of his pedophile that America has ever known, Jeffrey Epstein, and then Vivek Ramaswami all in on exactly, you know, a related topic, it's, it's shooting yourself in the foot and it's giving this, you know, the, the aura of invincibility that MAGA wanted to have around itself and that we, you know, we all felt two years ago, they've got everything, you know, they've swept up a whole lot of states, they've got a house, they've got the Senate, they've taken over the Supreme Court, they've got Joe Rogan, they've got Joe Rogan, they've got the podcast bros, they've got Fox News, like here you have what's actually happening on the ground, well, we don't know, right? We don't know who's going to win, we don't know how people are going to vote polls are just an idea, but the invincibility there is, this is not an invincible movement, it's being made fun of, it's being laughed at, and we talk about Joe Rogan. Yes, let's talk about Joe Rogan. We, yeah, I mean, well, they've lost him, it's that simple, Joe Rogan had brought these young male voters with him, he had, you know, he had had Trump on, he'd vance on, he'd Trump on, he'd Trump on for hours on his podcast, he'd give him this platform, you know, he was very motivated by being against Covid lockdowns and then by, and against vaccinations, vaccinations, sort of rose on the tide of anti-vax, and you know, this was a, you know, I think part of this was the lockdown thing, well, people were at home for a lot of times and they could watch these endless Joe Rogan videos, three hours, three hours, who's got time, Joe, come on, you do, you do, you do, I do, choose tonight, choose tonight, my one I will be here as long as you need us to, as long as there is news Michael and I will be like, wow, Michael will be like, wow, I need to go to that in which case you will come in and replace him. There is no sleep until Brooklyn for me, but Joe Rogan has, I don't know if he's flipped sides, but he has been speaking to the same audience. That's the thing, what's remembering, he's got his same audience. In fact, he's got a bigger audience. And because Joe Rogan has risen in that time, he's talking about Gryfft Force One. He's talking about the corruption. He's talking about. This is from a man getting a $250 million contract. Sure, I know. Right. But he's talking about, particularly, about not wanting the war in Iran. And of course, the war in Iran just underlies all this. It's fueled inflation. It's set up at gas prices, soaring. But here we have with Joe Rogan, somebody who's speaking about those issues, every time he's on the air, that is not what Trump needs. He's lost him. Trump has lost Joe Rogan. Wow. And the other brawls that go with that sort of world. So, can we talk about JD Vance, who's been sent out there, and is just also being asked really direct questions. And he has become the master of the misdirect. I think that's what it's called. Yes. When you ask a question and you answer a completely different question, let's play a couple of my favorite examples of this technique he's embracing. Question is, how does the right and yourself expect us to start families young when, you know, the average price of a home in America now costs more than $415,000, which just feels out of reach for us. Sure. Sure. Well, first of all, again, thank you for the question. And thanks for the support. I want to point out that I think that I've been asked four or maybe five questions by my count. I've only been asked one question about John Houston's ass. And it was by Jesse Water. Complete misdirect there. So thank you for your question. Thank you for your support. Let's talk about John Hustead's ass again. They are obsessed. It's worth mentioning, by the way, that the person asking that question, Kate White, is a senior figure within the turning point U.S.A. Charlie Kirk movement. So it was actually a proper question. But she was basically trying to say, can you help me make the argument as opposed to, you know, coming from a place of criticism. So she wasn't going to fight back, and yet he's still off in this deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect. And also she she asks him, we didn't show the beginning of her question, because it was quite long, but she really says you're encouraging us to have more children. You're encouraging us to get married earlier. We can't afford it. Right. And you know, that's that's the whole thing here. That's what Joe Rogan has talked about. That's what people are actually talking about is, you know, even people who are inclined towards supporting Republicans can't get past the fact that things are costing more. And two years ago, Donald Trump campaigned, you know, there was a very effective ad that was played widely in many of those states that we've talked about in Ohio, and particularly that Kamala is for they them, Donald Trump is for you. And the Republicans focused on the perception that Kamala Harris was, you know, focused on transgender rights more than on inflation. And the power of that attack, I think at the time Democrats thought it was because they had talked, they as a group had been speaking too much, but transgender rights. And, you know, that's an issue for the Democrats. But the power of it really was that Republicans were talking about inflation and affordability. And that's what resonated with people. They voted for measures that would bring down inflation, that would increase affordability. And they haven't seen anything work. And. Well, and they've had to pay more for their healthcare premiums. So they've come off healthcare altogether. They've got an unwanted war. They've got masked men in the street arresting their neighbors. I could go on. The list is endless. JD Vance, the master of diversion, they have diverted him to of all places. Rome. Rome. Oh, he's not going back to kill off the Pope. Please tell me. I should be do we do have news on the port when I'll come to that in a second. Yes, no, he's going to Rome in New York, upstate New York. Oh, that was a tease. That was a tease. No disrespect to people of Rome in New York is near Syracuse also named after replacing Italy. Syracuse. Syracuse a very beautiful city should say. But JD Vance is going to finish the campaign in Rome in New York. And the reason I highlight this, Joanna, is because this is not a traditional battleground state. Nobody expects that New York is going to be swinging towards the Republicans in any measure of at all. And there's a governor's race in the state of New York where we are sitting right now. There is not there are not Senate. There's no Senate race. But he's do you know, by the way, so the governor's race, Kathy Hogan, who took over from Andrew Kwame and Andrew Kwame had to resign in 11 cases, 11 accusations of harassment up against Bruce Blakeman. Do you know who Bruce Blakeman's ex-wife is married to? Oh, my god. This is my favorite trivia question. I will take this for a thousand Ken. Okay. Go on. You know, then, you know. I do. I do. I know. It's amazing. We well and that's amazing. Blakeman's ex-wife is married to Sir Paul McCartney. I know. Amazing. It's incredible. Yeah. Now I will hear my will be leading. I think that's more likely to get you voted in Bruce than anything else. I know he's he's a kind of we obviously we both see his ads on television because we live in New York and the ads are slightly amateurish and he doesn't. Well, they add old style on very old style. You're like, oh, this is back. We're back in the 1980s. I'm Bruce Blakeman. But yeah, Nancy Sheffal. And he says that Sir Paul is an excellent stepfather to their adult child. Well, that's nice. That's always good to me. Very nice. Yeah. But anyway, I imagine he in fact will be with not Sir Paul McCartney. Bruce Blakeman will be with JD Vance in Rome on Monday night. And the reason I highlight Rome is because this is in a Trump bus 20 district that was held by at least a fan. She had been a mega star. She is she's not running for Congress. She's out. She well, she's a classic example of someone who was loyal to Trump over you suspect her best instincts. She was promised that he would put her at the UN to be our representative there. Then he decided to put Mike Waltz there. Mike Waltz, who famously given away classified military information to the editor of the Atlantic on a signal that went awry. And Elise Stefanik was basically cast out into the cold. She has collateral damage for Trump's bigger goals. And she's had enough. Yes. And this is therefore an open seat. And you know, the margin of victory, you would say, oh, it's, you know, this is safe for public territory. It's not. They don't think it's safe for public territory. It's barely been pulled because it's this vast rural area that stretches all the way up to the Canadian border. And the Canadian borders that they'll have all sorts of issues with Canadian tariffs, all sorts of local things will be more expensive for them, including Canadian alcohol. Yes. This is a great example of where what I'd seen this invincible mega, you know, sort of fortress, Donald Trump blew up the walls himself as the Canadian border in the North problems there. It stretches almost as far as Albany. So, you know, it's like half the North South distance of the state and it contains enough towns that and turns into small cities that are going to go democratic that they only need some voters to stay at home and off it goes into the democratic column. Well, and they'll probably have the same issues that they're having in Michigan where because they're right up against Canada, all sorts of things have become more expensive. And you have Mike Rogers, the Republican candidate sitting there with the Canadian beer saying, we've got to get this resolved guys, we've got to get it resolved. And you're like, well, tell that to your president, tell that to the leader of your party. And all in often in these places, there are very effective TV ads. And we see them in New York, everybody's seen these to variation of this of a safe-ish mega candidate caught on camera at Trump rally saying things like, welcome to our greatest president Ever or Roger Marshall in Kansas has a quote saying, this is the greatest economy of my lifetime. It's these quotes resonate with people as, no, it's not. This is not the greatest economy of my lifetime. I just went to fill up. No, this is not the greatest president of my lifetime. And even people who voted for Trump at the last time round voted Republican, they don't appreciate the culty, the cheering and the waving, this sort of persuadable group of people, they're not into, he's the greatest ever. And there are so many clips across the country for Republicans that are being run against them. And that's one of the tools that Democrats have been able to deploy this time round of this sort of feeling that they're a bit weird, they're saying that and they are saying things that just do not resonate. Well, and that's what the Republicans accused the by-nights of doing at the last time, right? And that was a very effective. Don't tell me I'm better off when I don't feel better off because I'm grocery shopping every week. I'm filling my tank every week and I can see the prices have gone up. I'm not stupid. And, you know, we have, for example, Kevin Hassett, who's the White House's chief economist, said, oh, you've got to look at at it in the aggregate growth result, but people don't look at it in the aggregate. We actually live in a, you know, we, we look at it through the lens of our own lives. And I know how much money is going out at the end of the week. Do you think that JD Vance will be more effective campaigning upstate than he was campaigning for Victor Orban? I remember when, you know, Trump sent JD Vance, knowing that Victor Orban was probably not going to win, sent JD Vance to go and march up and down a very public stage in Hungary to vote for Victor Orban. It's, you know, lost, devastating, let's, let's make clear. And, you know, I think I will just sit out making election predictions, Joanna. They only come back to on you. They do. They do. But maybe, well, maybe, maybe JD could get a job, you know, like Victor Orban, they're trying to get him a job, a secretary general of the United Nations. Orban is being pushed by a group of the closest of America's allies. Or as they're actually known, China and Russia. China and Russia are our closest allies. What is happening in the world, Hugh? So I think I diverged you when you said that you had a story about the Pope. We do have a story about the Pope. The Pope is going to make history as the first ever Pope to vote. Vote in the American election. He's going to vote in the United States election. And this is, it's, it's kind of extraordinary. The Pope is the head of state of a foreign country. Right. And yet, because he's an American United States citizen, of course, he can vote. And he has a mail-in ballot. He votes. It doesn't say, we don't believe it says the Pope or DAPOPE, I suppose it should say. He has a mail-in ballot for Wales County in Illinois, where his brother lives, and where he, you know, has maintained in the address. And the Pope, before he was Pope, he lived in the fact that he lived in Vatican City or in Rome. But then before that, he lived for many years in Peru, in fact, is also a Peruvian citizen. But he has always voted. He's maintained a perfect record of voting in every election for which he could vote. And he's got a ballot. Do we know how he's registered? He previously was a registered Republican, in fact. We don't know if that is any indication of his political sympathies. Obviously, you can register as Republican and vote in whatever direction. But he was a registered Republican, in some public records, at a time where I think I said Wales County, I meant Wales County, when Wales County had Republican leadership. And many people, you know, people in New York, for example, register as Democrats, just so they can have a say in the primaries. There are some very famous people who have registered against their perceived party, in places where there are, you know, there's lots of very public Republicans who are registered in the District of Columbia, as Democrats, just so they can vote in the primaries. It's the only they feel it's the only way that they can have a say. So the Pope has been registered as Republican. Right now, of course, we don't know because we don't know what his current registration is because these things in Illinois are done slightly retrospectively. But we know his brother is Maka. He's got a Maka brother. He has a Maka brother who lives in Florida. Right. And he has another brother whose political affiliation we do not know who lives in Illinois. And it's the brother in Illinois where he's registered. We definitely know how Louie, his, his Florida brother, will be voting. No doubt there. He's met Donald Trump a number of times, which of course, the Pope himself has not done. But we know that the Pope has frequently spoken out against Donald Trump and JD. We do know that. And the Pope as well has just had the cancerous lump removed from his lung. So we do hope, obviously, I should say, by the way, as well as in Scottish, I'm Catholic and very pleased that America has its own Pope. We obviously don't want the Pope to be unhealthy. So stay away, JD. Stay away, JD. Well, Hugh, I'll be back tomorrow with Inside Trump's head and Michael Wolff looking at the last stages of the rallies. We'll be pouring over Trump's comments and the heckles and the protesters. And we'll be back on Tuesday election night live where he will be bringing us all the latest updates of every seat you're anxious about. Darlene Graham, is she going to squeak through or is Annie Andrews going to kick the Graham family to the curb? We're going to know about Susan Collins in Maine. This will be early, very early because the East Coast comes back early. So James Tallerico and Texas. Tallerico and Texas. Rebecca Ramaswamy and Ohio. Max Miller, the alleged wife, Peter and Ohio. And child beast, right? And child. Yes. And I mean, there's just there are so many more. And it's good to be amazing. I cannot wait to hear from you, Michael Wolff. We probably won't have the results of the Alaska election, but you know, I'm hoping for Daniel J. Sullivan, the last admission to the ballot, the man who lives on an island inaccessible, except by plain and vote. He sounds really Alaskan. He's a pro-Ralaskan. The Alaskans voted for Daniel J. Sullivan and sent him to Washington to come on Alaskans. If you're covering them, this is not a formal endorsement. Of course, it's not a formal endorsement. Come on, Daniel J. The man who just rolled into it when someone asked him to. He's going to bring fish to the Senate. How funny would it be if he ends up going to Washington? Daniel J, if you're watching Good Luck, good luck. And thank you to those of you who joined us. What a fight. It's always fun to roll through the news with Huey. As I said, I'll be back tomorrow with Michael Wolff. Big thanks to our production team, Ryan Murray, John Romero, Rachel Passa, Heather Pasaro, and Neil Rosenhouse. So the good news is we have so many bee-beast tier members now. There are too many names to read out, and we really appreciate your support.

Summary:

election—despite being a foreign head of state—adds a symbolic layer of critique, underscoring the broader erosion of the movement’s invincibility. As the election nears, the narrative shifts from dominance to vulnerability, with a growing consensus that Trump’s campaign is losing its grip on the American public.

FAQs

Trump canceled the rallies in Kansas and Iowa due to declining polling numbers for his endorsed candidates, particularly Senator Roger Marshall in Kansas, who faced strong opposition from a more popular challenger, Adam Hamilton. The shift reflects growing discontent with MAGA candidates and rising skepticism about Trump's campaign strategy.

Adam Rodogner, a well-known 'front row joe' who attended every rally, has been arrested on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material. He is currently in jail in the Cleveland suburbs and faces legal proceedings, which has raised concerns about the integrity and safety of Trump rallies.

Protests at Trump rallies have increased dramatically, with demonstrators using humor and satire to mock his behavior, such as the 'Shuff the ballroom up your fat ass' comment. These events have become more chaotic, with venues shrinking and attendance dropping, signaling a loss of public enthusiasm.

The flyover of Trump's gold plane over the White House during Halloween caused public fear, violated local height limits, and led to a ground stop at Reagan National Airport. It sparked criticism over the cost to taxpayers and the apparent obsession with spectacle over public safety.

Joe Rogan has shifted from a strong supporter to a critical voice, focusing on issues like inflation, war in Iran, and economic hardship. His platform now aligns more with mainstream concerns, distancing him from Trump's more polarizing messaging and events.

JD Vance is known for his skill in deflecting questions with non-answers and misdirection, such as redirecting discussions about inflation to comments about Rome or John Hustead's 'ass.' This strategy has drawn criticism for avoiding substantive policy debate.
