Why Everyone's Talking About Detox.. and Why You Can't Ignore It #solo
16m 50s
The podcast discusses the rising prominence of detoxification, attributing it to heightened awareness of environmental toxins from sources like food, water, air, and consumer products, fueled by media and political discourse. It highlights how chronic exposure, described through the "toxic bucket" analogy, accumulates to cause health issues such as fatigue and brain fog, especially in modern toxic environments. The host identifies key toxins, including glyphosate in food, pollutants in water and air, and EMFs, emphasizing their pervasive impact. To address this, three actionable steps are recommended: adding essential minerals like magnesium and zinc to support detox enzymes, adopting daily detox practices such as exercise, sauna sessions, and using binders, and educating oneself on body health to empower personal wellness. The episode concludes by framing detox as a means to regain energy and clarity, enabling a focus on life's greater purposes.
What's going on guys, welcome back to the Ideal Day podcast. This is Adam Parker and in today's episode, we are talking about why is everyone talking about detox right now and why you can't ignore it anymore. At this point in human history, detox is no longer a fringe topic. It's literally everywhere from health professionals to politicians. detox right now is a buzzword, that's for sure. But why now? And why is everyone talking about detoxification and are they doing it right? So in today's show, we're going to take a deep dive into my thoughts around why it's such a hot topic right now and more importantly, what you can do today to move forward with your detox journey. So we're going to unpack why detox is trending, what's poisoning us and most importantly, what you can do to take control of your health. So let's dive right in. Why is detox such a hot topic right now? When I'm thinking about putting my thoughts down for these podcasts, I love when certain ideas just come to my head. So I'm going to list what I think is going on. This is not the definitive list, but really when I look at culture right now, why is detox become something that everyone's talking about? So firstly, I would say there's been an increased awareness of toxins. So if you go on social media, there's such an amplification of information around toxins in our food, our air, our water and all of our consumer products. You've got high profile documentaries coming out articles and even influencers who are shedding light on the dangers of things like life is safe for every chemicals and microplastics. A couple of guys to follow if you don't already is Dr. Ivon Burkhart. She's absolutely amazing. She was on the show I think about a year ago. So definitely check out her work. Does a load of work around raising awareness on all of the toxins in our everyday consumer products and most importantly finding alternatives. Also check out Tim Bihakka. It's my good friend Tim Gray. He's the founder of the Health Optimization Summit, which is in London, but also it's coming to the US next year. So that's going to be an amazing event also. And Tim also gives a lot of information, all of the toxins in our environment and give some really good alternatives to use. The next reason I think is the political momentum going on right now. Obviously we've just had the US presidential elections and there's been a lot of news around Robert's Kennedy, Jr. being appointed as I don't know the official title, but basically his head of health in America. And he's been really vocal around the amount of toxins in our food in our environment poisoning Americans. And we've seen this new saying come out on social media, which is make America healthy again. So again, there's a lot of exposure now to just on modern day lifestyles and how toxic they are and how that's impacting the health of everyday Americans. And obviously as we know, America normally sets the blueprint of how other cultures follow. And now that there's actual coverage on this coming from pretty much government that gets people talking. Some pretty controversial tweets I've seen RFK, Jr. put out there is around removing fluoride from the water supply in the US. And I think the Trump administration starts on January 20th next year. And one of the tweets from RFK was around on that date, instructing all water companies to remove fluoride from the water supply. So this is huge news. And again, it gets people talking that toxins in our environment could be the cause of what's going on with their health. Now I know it is, but a lot of people aren't yet having the awareness that it is the toxins in our environment. That's causing pretty much all of the health ailments that we're experiencing today as a culture. The next reason is people are feeling worse. If you look at all of the graphs in terms of disease as a culture, as a global culture, everything's moving in one direction. So it's really common now for even people that we deem healthy to have something going on. So you might be healthy, but do you know what my digestion isn't greater times? Or I've just got this skin rash that comes up occasionally. These are signs of chronic illnesses. And again, there's different degrees of it, but at the same time, we shouldn't be having any of these issues. The body is always looking to be in balance. And when we have any symptom manifest, that is a sign that things aren't in balance. So chronic illness, fatigue, and really all of these unexplained symptoms are at an all time high. And that leads to people searching for answers and going outside of traditional, alopathic medicine to find those answers. We're also seeing a rise in functional medicine. And a lot of integrative health practitioners are now bringing in detox as part of their solution, which I think is really, really exciting. As you guys know, I definitely feel there's limitations with functional medicine. It's very much a test-based approach, but it's really positive to see that a lot of these practitioners are now realizing it's not just about what supplements we need to add on. It's what do we need to remove out of you and your environment in order to heal? So before we jump into what to do right now to take action, I want to look at, well, what is poisoning us? Now, I do a lot of work on talking about all the different touch points that we have in our environment, the chronic exposures. Again, very different from acute exposures where you're knocked out straight away. A chronic exposure is like smoking a cigarette. It's not going to kill you, right? Having one cigarette. I'm not promoting smoking. But my point is these chronic exposures that over time accumulate cause these diseases and these issues that we're experiencing. So I quickly want to touch upon what are the major sources of toxic exposure in our everyday environment that everyone is exposed to. So firstly, we have food. So especially if you're in the US, the life of saints, which is a herbicide is pretty much put on all crops. It's pretty much part of the farming process to apply glyphosate. There are also pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, put into our food. Then you have processed food. And I heard a stat the other day that most Americans get the majority of their calories, around 65 to 70% of their calories from processed foods. You also have artificial additives, dyes, all of that sort of stuff goes into food. Now when we have processed food, essentially from a commercial perspective, there's money in the processing. The more a food is processed, the more markup you get on the food. So if you look at a potato, there is no processing on that food. And it's pretty cheap. But then if you take that potato and you chop it up and then you fry it, then you add flavour to it and you put it in a bag and call it chips. There's a huge markup on that food. So there's money in the processing for these companies. But more importantly, what does it do? So the more you process the food, the more you strip out the nutrition. And when you look at a whole food, that is a complete food. It has everything you need in order to digest and assimilate that food. It has all the minerals and the enzymes and the cofactors in order to digest that food. And the more we process that food, we strip away the goodness from the food. And that's what causes imbalances and health issues when we're constantly eating these types of foods in our diet. Then we have water. So faucet water or tap water is full of heavy metals, fluoride, different in the US and some areas of the UK, chlorine and microplastics, so much bad stuff in tap water. So it's really important that we purify our water. But again, just stating what we're exposed to every single day. Then we have the air that we're breathing. So it's pollution from the tire wearer on off. If you're outside, it's the VOCs, the volatile organic compounds, industrial chemicals in the air. So our air is really toxic today. And here's the deal. The air is more toxic indoors than it is outdoors. And we spend 97% of our time indoors today. You have household products that off gas, synthetic fragrances, cleaning products, personal care products loaded with in-niproindustriptors. Every single item, if we're buying these items from a standard supermarket, we're adding to our body burden of toxicity every single day. And then finally, we have electromagnetic fields. And this is a chronic exposure from our devices like our phones, Wi-Fi routers, and any smart appliance that we have in the house. And there's many people out there in the health field that feel that electromagnetic field is the number one toxin. Because we're exposed to it every single day. We can't see it, smell it, taste it, touch it. It's 24/7 exposure. And we can't avoid it. So we've had many good episodes talking about EMFs. We recently had Tristan Scott on the podcast talking about EMF exposure and what to do to mitigate. So definitely check that episode out too. So to wrap up this point, really, it's around the constant exposure that we have now to all of these different toxins. And I talk a lot about the toxic bucket theory. So to elaborate, imagine your body is a bucket. And every single day, toxins from the food, the water, the air drip into that bucket. Now, if you don't empty it, the bucket eventually overflows. And when it overflows, that's when you get symptoms like brain.
fog, skin issues, chronic fatigue, which then leads into other larger issues downstream, so more chronic disease. Now, because we live in such a toxic environment today, that bucket is getting fuller a lot quicker. So that's why we're seeing people at younger ages getting sicker having health issues, because we're just exposed to more toxins today, compared to if you were born 20, 30, 40 years ago. This is more toxins in the environment. Our buckets are being filled up quicker and we're manifesting in diseases and chronic issues. Hence why we have to empty that bucket and that is done through detoxification, but also being aware of what is filling the bucket and making smarter choices to stop that bucket getting full as quick. So here's the deal, we can't stop it filling up because we are exposed to these toxins every single day, but we can do a lot to stop the amount coming in and slow that down also. So I want to finish off on how to take action. What can we do? I want to leave you guys with some tangible takeaways and things you can do today in order to help you move forwards with your health and empower you to take some action. So I have three action points for you today on this podcast. Get out your notepads, take some notes and implement these straight away and you will definitely feel a difference. So number one is to add minerals into your diet. So minerals like magnesium, zinc and trace minerals help the body detoxify by supporting enzyme function, liver health and overall cellular repair. Minerals are the spark plug of our metabolism. We cannot function, we cannot process without adequate minerals, we cannot be hydrated without adequate minerals. And the challenge we have today is we do not get enough minerals in our diet, even if we're eating organic, even if we're doing all the right things that just aren't enough minerals in the food today. So we have to supplement minerals. So an easy recommendation would be to buy a trace mineral supplement, starting that to your water, and I would also get a good magnesium supplement also. The product I really love at the moment is magnesium breakthrough and that is through a company called Biooptimizers. Check out that episode with Wade Lightharts. I think there's a discount code in that episode as well if you want to buy from those guys. So number one is to add minerals to your diet. Number two is to add in daily detox practices. So ultimately it's not about making these big crazy changes to your life. It's about creating smart habits and routines that will stick and will stay and will compound over time. So here's some things that you could look to add in to your daily routines and your weekly routines. To firstly stop the amount of toxins coming in and also to lower that toxic load in your toxic buckets. So number one is exercise. Exercise is no brainer, join a gym. You don't have to even join a gym, just move the body. Exercise boost lymphatic drainage and promotes sweating and sweating is an amazing way to detoxify. Next you can sauna. So you can sauna at the gym after a workout which is great or you can buy yourself a sauna for your home. Infrared saunas are so affordable today. You can get the blanket saunas. I went a bit all out and bought myself an infrared sauna but there's so many different ways you can access saunas today and saunas encourage the release of heavy metals and other toxins through your sebaceous sweats. Check out the episode with Daniel Roots. He talks about his detoxification, niacin protocol using the sauna. Very powerful. Another daily detox practice would be to take binders like activated charcoal, bento like clay, zero light. There are so many different binders out there. Check out my content on Instagram. I talk about many different binders and just start with one and see how you feel. And the last daily detox practice I want to mention is dry brushing. Now this is something that the ladies are more interested in doing but it's very powerful. You can dry brush when you're in the sauna. You can dry brush post and pre shower or bath and it's a great way to stimulate the lymphatic system. And finally the third action point in terms of what you can do to take control is to educate yourself. That is the most powerful thing you can do. So I encourage you guys to study every day. Listen to podcasts on how to heal your body. There are plenty of episodes on my show. But I also encourage you to listen to other podcasts, other information. Empower yourself on understanding how detoxification works. Understanding how your body works is the first step to true health. And you don't have to be a doctor to know how to help your body detoxify. We're living in a world now where we have so much information. It can be daunting but there's enough information out there for people to be empowered to take action without having to rely on a doctor or a physician in order to heal themselves. So I invite you guys to watch my masterclass video on YouTube for a deeper dive into detoxification. It really sets the scene on why we need to detox and further adds to the different strategies that I've talked about in this episode and what you can do. There's a link to that masterclass in the show notes so definitely click on that and check it out. So there we have it. Detox is a hot topic because people are waking up to how toxic our world is and really has become over time. It's enough food, it's enough water. And really we're in a situation where our bodies can't handle the amount of toxins coming in. But here's the good news that we can take action and hopefully today's episode of giving you tips and strategies to think about in order to take action. For me detoxification isn't just about getting rid of toxins, it's about regaining energy, regaining clarity and really living the life you're meant to have, we're not meant to feel crap, we're not meant to have these issues plaguing our thoughts and slowing us down. We should have amazing health and be able to take the focus off our health and focus on the things that we want to get done. How do we want to contribute to the world? Who are we trying to serve? What mission are we on? That's what I want people to focus on. And when we fix the health side of things, it just frees up all of the energy just to focus on what you want to do with your life. So that's it for this episode. I want to thank you guys for tuning in today and hopefully you got some value out of what we talked about. Now if you guys want to learn more about how to detoxify your body, fix your health and get back to how you want to be, DM me the word detox on Instagram, my handle is @idealdayadam, and either myself or my team will reach out to see if we can help you get back to epic health.
