Welcome to the Journey to Self-Discarriot Podcast with Moses Balfour and Warr. Here, we explore life's toughest questions in the bid to become our best selves and to live purposefully in meaningful lives. Stick around, the journey starts now. We are welcome to the TED episode of Journey to Self-Discarriot Podcast. Last week we discussed about the 5 key misconceptions relating to self-discarri. And today we will be looking at why people feel that self-discarri and why you have still not discovered yourself. You have still not discovered yourself because you have developed the wrong ideas about yourself. And you developed the wrong ideas about yourself because of your personal experiences. Through such an experience, such an event that is happening in your life, you developed all kinds of wrong ideas. Wrong ideas about who you are because of the experiences that you had. People feel exams in the same terms that they are failures. How can feeling and exams make you conclude that you are failure in life? How can feeling and mask people make you conclude that mask is not for you? And that you cannot move ahead. Inability to perform attacks makes people develop wrong ideas about themselves. Because you are never able to do something that is not mean that you are bad and that is not mean that you cannot become the best version of yourself. If you work on yourself, broken relationships and marriages make people see themselves as good for nothing. It is very painful to be in a relationship and when you get to the middle of the road, you begin to learn your bad and you begin to act yourself. Am I that bad? Am I good for nothing? How come this relationship broke? I have seen people who have the same sense that they will never mind because of the experiences that they have seen others have. I know couples that divorced and they say that they will not mind again. And they started developing wrong ideas about who they are because of the experiences that they had. Head forward, speaking to you can also let you develop wrong ideas about yourself. Sometimes people carry the pain of head forward, speaking to them by their appearance. I recall hearing a story of validity that told me that my mother said I am good for nothing. And these ways have stuck with hair all through her life. Head forward from last ones, people you cherish, people you admire, people who sweat, maintain in your life. When they say certain things to you, it made you demean yourself and look down on yourself. Teachers are one of the biggest culprits in this story. The words of teachers, such dreams of kids. I went to class some time ago when I was at the university in the lecture hall, all the students in the class. And in my class, you can hardly get any of the most people feel when you say this thing to a student. You've programmed the students to feel. Superius, your boss can tell you something and he can't shut you. For life. This way creates a kind of impression in people's mind and they begin to accept that as truth. The way people speak begins to create a kind of impression in your mind. And people begin to accept that as truth for themselves. In events when they see a part of their lives showcasing what was said about themselves, friends do not allow it to stop you from discovering yourself and becoming your best self. People also focus on their weaknesses. Focus on your weaknesses only makes you weaker. Believe in more in your weaknesses than in yourself and your strengths makes you develop all kinds of motives about yourself. Try to focus more on your strengths, enough of telling us about your weaknesses. I asked people what their strengths are and they tell me that, "Sir, please, I don't think I have any strength, I don't think I have any talent. There is nothing good I can do." And I wonder if believe your life to be 5 years, 30 years. And you don't believe that there is something good that you can do in your life, that you have talent and skills that the world is waiting for. Unfortunately, others are intimidated by their roots and their background. You must never let your background put your back on their ground, they say, whether you are from a poor country, a poor family, a rich family, a rich country, middle income family, middle income country should not define you. It should not determine who and what you can be, meaning allow their backgrounds to change their perception of who they are and what they can be. Your background, your family history, your family tradition, where you are coming from, should not determine what you can be. You must not look down on yourself because of where you are coming from. And the story of Kofiana, a gang named Diplomat, who served as the 7th Secretary General of the United Nations from 1997-2006, and also a core recipient of the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize, should inspire you that your background should never be a limitation of your ability to rise. You know, Kofiana was born in Kumasi in the Gold Coast, Nangana. On 8th April 1968, but did you graphical location of Kofiana, did not determine what he could become? Today, Kofiana is an example to Africans everywhere in the world that you can rise to the highest pinnacle of life. Your background once again should not determine what you can be and what you can do with your life. And as we take steps to learning how we can discover ourselves and to becoming ourselves, I also want to share with you why others have not discovered themselves. There is a way I am talking about why you know this coming yourself, and I will be sharing some of these things in our last two episodes. And in this episode is that when you know why something is not working, you can appreciate how something can work. Until a reason of a thing is loom, you can never really identify how something can work. So why have others not discovered themselves? One, poor conviction. Your conviction are faced with all the fool for self-discrimination. When you have no absolute conviction that you can be better or that they are on top potentials within you to tap into, trust me, you never go on this journey to self-discrimination. Let me help you develop strong convictions. See yourself as a land. There is a possibility of you being used for a road. If you are land, there is a possibility of you being used for factory, home, institution, supermarket, and so on. The value of a land is in its location and purpose. The value of a land in a prime area anywhere in the world cannot be compared to the value of a land in a remote area anywhere in the world. And the purpose of a land anywhere in the world plays value on the land forces. In a good location, a land is of value to the seller. And for the right purpose, the land is of value to the buyer. So with this understanding, it means that if you do not know exactly where you are, that is your location and what you could use for.
your purpose, you will not be able to generate enough value for your life. And you will not be used for anything. You are listening to the journey to self-discovery podcasts with Chief Moses Buffewa. One of the saddest and dangerous place to be in your life is to be at the wrong location in your life. Location matters a lot. Association matters a lot. They decide what your future can be. So if you do not go on a journey to discover yourself, to know where you are currently and what you can do with your life, you will end up being just like a zetted land. That people throw refuse on because it has no value. What should this mean to you? The more you stay on intentional about discovering yourself, the more you discover yourself on intentional. And this could be positive or negative. That means positive things can happen to you unintentionally. Negative things can also happen to you unintentionally. And the reality is that often negative things happen to you if you are not intentional about your life. And grass left to itself does not become a garden. It ends up growing into weeds. That means that if you leave things to chance, they don't become better. It is true sometimes things happen to you when you are exited. My uncommon mental engineer high school was something I never planned for, but it changed my life. But it doesn't mean I should leave my life all the time, hoping for good things to happen to me unintentionally. So that is why you must be intentional about your life. One of the reasons why I put do not discover themselves is that they have no desire to rise above the status quo. Mostly the idea of completing school, having a car, buying a house, and getting married, and having children has become the norm of the day and many defies success without position of these things. Meanwhile, after acquiring these things, life does not end. There is more that can be done through self discovery. We must desire to rise above the status quo. The life of Malala, a Pakistani, education advocate, who at the age of 17 in 2004 became the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize after surviving and as a nation attend by the Taliban, should inspire you to rise above the status quo. Malala became an advocate for girls education when she herself was still a child. Which resulted in the Taliban issuing a dead threat against her on October 9, 2012, a gun man shot Malala when she was traveling home from school. She survived and continued to speak on the importance of education. In 2013, she gave a speech to the United Nations and published her Facebook, Ayam Malala. Nothing stopped her from rising above the status quo. Your temporary defeats and setbacks should not stop you from rising above the status quo. Increasing Freerity Complex Increasing Freerity Complex is when you have the thought that others are better than you and are more qualified than you. This is not humility, it is in reality. You should always give yourself the opportunity to attempt, even if you fail at it. Relay and get things done. Compluses. Another tone that makes it difficult for people to discover themselves is complices. They are understanding that you have arrived and there is nothing you have not seen and known. And there is nothing to learn again, also limits people from discovering themselves. You must understand that to truly discover yourself, you must become an unusual potenti. One who has an unusual passion to learn, not a parasite, one who only wants to take advantage of others, no one is too old or too young to be mentored. And never fall into the trap that you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. Leave your life, learning, every day and all the time. Finally, the reason why people never discover themselves is because of pride. Sometimes I go, I tell the conference and I make this lady who said to herself that she is not going to learn from anybody, she is going to make her own mistakes, and learn from them. I saw pride at work. Not willing to submit under anyone to be taught, is pride. When I see people, the first question I ask them, how did you come to know all that you know? Some say I read, or they say I went to school and so on. Then I simply tell them, if you were humble enough to go to school and read books, then you don't know everything. And there is still more, you can learn and more, you can be taught. So there is no need of feeling proud. Pride limits your beliefs to grow and learn more. Pride prevents you from getting the full package of life because you are willing to act and willing to learn. Pride prevents you from receiving from an uncommon mental. Remember in episode 1 I spoke about the man that traveled from England to US, instead of the corner in the ship and never went out to take any meal. How about if he asked people, or how about if he asked his fellow human beings, does they ticket cover Ahadina? The man would not have lived on cracus throughout the trip. But by sticking to himself, he traveled from England to US, only eating cracus, that should not be the story. There is more you can have, there is more you can know, and you can receive the full package of life when you are humble enough and when you live. I want to encourage you to take this seriously.
