In this episode, the host explains their month-long absence from the podcast and YouTube channel, attributing it to life’s unexpected demands and the importance of rest. They reflect on how people often overestimate their energy levels and neglect self-care, leading to burnout. Academic responsibilities, including midterms and finals, also required a temporary focus shift. The host emphasizes that failing to meet personal expectations does not make one a failure and that prioritizing well-being is essential. Looking ahead, they plan to resume content creation after winter break, but on a flexible schedule to avoid stress. A key reason for the break was working on a music project; their first original song is now released on all streaming platforms, with more music planned. The host reassures listeners that the podcast and channel are not ending, and they are excited to share future projects, including YouTube videos, podcast episodes, and other creative endeavors. Ultimately, the episode serves as a reminder to value rest and self-compassion while pursuing creative outlets.
Hey, wholesome humans, and welcome back to the Ash Greasy Podcast. That is right. You are hearing correctly. I am back. It's been a month since I last put out an episode. This is just kind of explaining where I've been what I've been up to and who has a break. So, first things first, in life. You know, sometimes we plan to do things a certain way. We always have like a plan of what's coming next and expectation of the way that our lives are going to go. And life does, it often gets in our way. It could sometimes life doesn't like us very much and that's just the way the world works. That is a simple fact that it's not something that any of us can change. And that is life for you in an nutshell. And so life basically got to me. That's the first thing we're going to say. Life just got to me and it decided that I needed to take some time to rest and figure some things out. And so that's basically the gist of where I've been and what I've been doing. And as part of this just break, I have also had to take the time and rest, which everybody seems to underestimate how important rest is. In yourself the time to really replenish and understand what your body needs is one of the most important things ever. And people don't recognize that. Or, okay, that's not right. They do recognize it, but they choose not to listen to it because everybody, myself included, tend to believe that we are more capable of getting things done than we actually are. And it's not that people aren't capable. Of course they are. It's just the amount of energy one has might not be the amount that they think they do and they might be running on adrenaline. But you know, honestly, they should be giving themselves some time to rest, a time to recharge to think about what they're doing and kind of help them, you know, give yourself a better outlook on the life that you're living and the life that you're trying to live and just being able to follow your goals and really, really be able to move your life forward in the way that you really want to. So that's another point in terms of actually treating yourself with the respect that you deserve because most people don't do that. And that's not necessarily an awful thing. It's just kind of another fact of life that people tend to disregard or regard but ignore and decide that it's not as important as the world's says it is, which is obviously fun to do in the moment, but is truly not the actual case in the real world. So rest in conclusion for that section of this podcast episode, rest is more important than you think it is. And so I really had to take some time to focus on the academic work of school and obviously it's not an easy thing to do. Like I think that is a general consensus of a lot of different things. I think that people understand that. That it's not an easy world to navigate and sometimes people underestimate how difficult it can be sometimes to actually navigate the world of academics in conjunction with the rest of our lives. It's, while school is only a ministerial aspect of our lives, it's definitely part of and affects some of the other day things that we do. So as things kind of pile up in terms of mid terms and finals, all that lovely jazz. It's just given me the time to reset and focus on that for a bit and that's the thing. It's always okay to let yourself do that and I always held myself to expectations. I think this is something that I've talked about in previous episodes of the podcast. It's a very common thing to hold yourself to expectations and then think that you are a failure when you don't live up to them. And while it is a very common thing in the world, that is absolutely not the case in the sense that no matter who you are, what you're doing, even if you don't live up to your own expectations or other expectations, that in no way means that you are a failure. And it is very much doesn't take away from who you are. It's a person. And so for me, when I started this podcast, my initial goal was to create an episode every week. That was the goal that I started with and for about just over a month, a month and a half, I did, I was able to commit to that and alongside my podcast was my YouTube channel and it's still exists, but I'll get into that in a second. It's just needed to give me a break in terms of still being able to create the content that I want to create, but also in the time that I want to create it in in the sense that yes, I still plan on continuing the podcast. It's not dead. And I definitely have a lot of fun topics that I'm excited to discuss in the new year, but for now, all I'm going to say is this rest was a big relief in terms of some of the expectations I had for myself and being able to take that break that I had really felt like I needed, but also being able to face the reality of the situation that I could still make content to my wasn't letting other people down by having this break. And like still being able to come back and make content for people to still look forward to it. And in terms of my YouTube channel, it's a very similar thing, like I kind of slow down on the creation aspect of it because I've been busy and because I've needed some rest. And that's not a problem. I've still been filming. I've still been doing a whole lot of things in preparation for that. And as we head into, as we head into winter break, both the podcast and the YouTube channel will start up again because I definitely have more content to share, both from the end of this past month or so, as well as some of the things that I will be doing over winter break, which I am very, very excited to share with you guys. And so I hope you look forward to future videos on my YouTube channel because they will be coming soon. In regards to the podcast on YouTube, I don't know how often they will be posted in the sense that my timeline as of now is too post whenever I feel like it in the sense that I work on projects when I have the time to, I don't. I prioritize myself first. I let myself do the things that I need to do and give myself the opportunity to use this platform of creation as a way to have a break and recharge and rest because honestly, to begin with, that was the goal of having a podcast and a YouTube channel to begin with. It was a place for me to have an outlet of what I've been doing and what I'm thinking and a place where I can just let myself be and just enjoy it. I never wanted it to be anything stressful. If it takes off, it takes off. But for me, it's not about any success or anything along those lines. It's simply just me doing this for the sake of doing this. I think that's one of the most beautiful parts of this journey that I've had with my creation. It's definitely been an aspect of what I've been doing that has made it a lot of fun and made it entertaining and has really made it worth doing, which is why I am most definitely going to continue with it and I'm really excited for what's to come. Last thing is that for those who don't.
already know. One reason that I have been taking a break is because I have had some other projects that I have been working on. And I, the timing just worked in a way where it was better for me to prioritize getting those done. And so, in the midst of working through those, I had to take a bit of a break from the podcast and the YouTube channel. And so, I am very excited to say that I have been working on some music and my first original song is available on all streaming platforms. That's so surreal to say. But yes, that's correct. I have music out and you can go listen to it now. And so, that is one of the biggest reasons why I haven't been very active on the podcast, but I'm sure you guys understand. And of course, in the new year, definitely keep an eye out for new music because I have so much planned for you guys. It's insane how many things I've got coming up that I'm really excited to work on. And yeah, I think it's going to be a really amazing platform that I've kind of created through the podcast, YouTube, and now through my music. That kind of just sums up who I am as a person and the effect that I want to bring to people, like my goal as a person and how I want to approach my relationship with other people and share my life with other people through story-calling, through all of this lovely stuff that we call art. And so I have a lot of things coming up, more music, more YouTube content, of course, more podcasts episodes and some other projects that once more progress has been made on them, then I will fill you in on. But for now, that is where I've been. And I'm really excited for you guys to see where I'm going. And so, as per usual, don't forget, you are loved, you are amazing, and I thank you for being here.
