Mo media This is the most fun I've had in this chair in the last hour and a half I don't know if we've ever argued that pitched off over the weekend or I'm still sour that I wasn't the best man at your wedding Who is your best man, Dale? He Jay? You don't need a cool best for that race. What are you thinking? How's it going TJ? It's going well. It was 94 degrees. It was hot. It was hot I ran a pro late model for the first time had a blast there was You know Florence is a track that I ran many many times back in the 90s know it well I only had Newport scheduled on my Calendar to go race later this year and I was talking to him. Yes, it man Kind of want to run it another race want to run a race more than that Can't figure out where I want to go what I want to do so Call Tony Jr. I texted him. I said man you want to go racing? He said yeah, where I said Florence is coming in two weeks You think you got something you put together fast enough. He goes no problem. I'll call you back Monday Called me in a couple days. I got it all organized He he's got cars going everywhere. He's got cars on the west coast. He's got Cars racing down in Alabama and so forth He's got this new GMS chassis that he's been working on and Spencer Davis is a driver that they spend a lot of time with Trying to improve the chassis and so forth to make it good for customers But it's a new program and Tony Jr. has been working on it for a couple maybe almost two years When he started building the very first chassis started sending me text messages saying man need to get you in one of these one day And I like the way Tony Jr. builds these chassis because All these new all these chassis builders and In the short track racing on the pavement side or dropping the door bars getting to wait down And a lot of it's a little bit egregious and he's got the door bars up in the right place. It's safe chassis So I was excited about the idea maybe running it one day. So he got a car together We went up to Test on Monday. It was super damn hot and Card row pretty similar to the late model stock to be honest with you. It was so hot really didn't do Everybody's like oh man the pros gonna be so different. It wasn't a it wasn't a ton different. Of course Florence is worn out slick small flat So for the people the pros are the pro is a little bit a little bit faster car pro is a left-handed chassis It's all set straight rail the right side frame rail is the straight as hell from the back bumper all the way to the nose and a late model stock car is a chassis that's um Kind of similar to the truck or a rally series. It is not offset It's got the frame rails way out to the body and all that stuff And um, it shouldn't be all set you shouldn't be building it all said anyways. I'll say that but um Anyways, uh the pro is you know left-handed offset a little more left side weight. It does everything better better brakes More weight on the left side turns different turns better runs, you know, runs about three tents faster probably It's some racetracks maybe a little bit more than the then the late model stock I like the late model stock because it's It's um similarities to what I was going to try to race as I grew up right my dad's like, you know, we're not gonna When I started racing back when I was 16 dads like you're not gonna drive a Left-handed offset car in the NASCAR series. So don't drive it now drive this late model stock It's like it's got the trailer arms and all the same suspension steering and all that that you're going to race in the A rally and cup series if you ever get there So run this car and so that's why I went in that direction dad kind of steered us there But um, so I never ran offset cars at all when I was younger We um You know, we we got together and got it got it uh got it organized Tony junior and his guys were amazing um Cory LaJoy has been working on a new carbon seat carbon seats are kind of all the rage now in short track racing You know hinders been building the carbon seat forever, but it's massive Super safe, but it's super super big and hard to get into a short track car and so There's different companies that have been working on these carbon fiber seats Cory LaJoy has been trying to build one as well And I've been talking to him and watching the progress and so he finally has one put together ready And we threw it in scar and I got an insert for it And we all hustled in a couple of days to get the headrest and everything right and uh It was also the seat the way it mounts the belts the way everything's incorporated together Um, it just all was easy and comfortable And so um That was really nice just want to shout out Cory because he hustled to get to seed and and He's been working around know he's been working really really hard to get this carbon seat Right and he's you know still got some improvements to make, but I think the seats race ready as it is um And so anyhow We go to the racetrack and we were fast we ran First second or third in every practice there were about six sessions on Thursday and then a couple more on Friday. Yeah, you like your practice. Well um, we only actually ran I'd say 40 laps total and all of that But um, you know we go out run a couple laps. Yeah, it feels good. All right come back in sitting while Said a while and wait. It was nice. Tony junior news had a practice I don't think I practiced on tires older than 10 laps all weekend So we had good speed and the car was driving good Um Then we qualified We ran a 59 I think the pole was a 53 and we were fifth So it's a little disappointed that we I didn't do a better job in qualifying because I think the car had to it's close field it was race starts and we Just kind of kept the rear tires on it and as some other guy started to struggle with balance We were able to move by for you and get up to second cadence honeycut was um Leading the race caten has won six pro late model races now this year. Yeah, it's a car store a lot. Yeah, super good hard to beat um I could match him He I'd run a little better in him one lap. He'd do he'd do a little better me the next And then with about 10 laps to go I was about three seconds back maybe a little less but I wasn't gonna catch him So I started trying to save my tires just in case we got like a green white checkered by by chance That my tires would be happy. I had them pretty pissed off With about 10 laps to go because I was pushing it as hard as I could to try to catch him and I thought man, I'm not gonna do that. He's running. He's he's pretty much matching my times And um, so I kind of calmed down a little bit to get some temperature out of the tire and Hope hope for a late yellow boot we didn't get one I think if I could have gotten the outside on a restart I don't know whether he would have given me that I'm not sure it might have been a pretty solid I don't think he would have. I don't know, but we might have had a chance Um, I was a little tight. So I wouldn't have wanted to start on the bottom. He would easily beat me um, but uh Anyhow I ran second and I had a lot of fun And so uh the late model stocks then got underway and Kaden Cwapel won that race for junior murder sports and Carson brown who is now Going up into the rally series for RCR Next year ran second. So um, a lot of heavy hitters in that field. We had Connor Zillitz driving my car and he ran sixth svg ran 13th and it was great race. I was really happy The whole weekend was low on drama and it was really really hot everybody had a lot of grace and The fans did the best they could To to to to weather the the heat And it was it was it's good man. Very very happy. I think I will I'm still slated to run new port in my late model stock. I think I've I've got some work to do to get that car right and ready uh Talk to Tony junior this morning We're already uh to to go run some more races with them whenever we get the opportunity I don't know where of course if I'm gonna race I want to race in the cars tour Because I want to help my tour, but um race with junior and gms with a pro uh We might end up somewhere else that's not cars tour related at some point. So can't all be cars tour races But Harvey's got some stuff happening on the west coast that would be interesting to go do. So we'll just kind of see um but that's a new kind of that's a brand new little avenue that I have. Would you go to the west coast? Brand new little outlet. Would you go west coast and run? Yeah. Why not? Harvey wants me to go and it's we have the cars tour out there and they run some cool tracks. Dude, when he ran Colorado and he ran the top. That's the track that I was thinking of. I saw that. I needed to go do that. That looks kind of fun. I like running the topic places. So anyhow, shout out to gms mori sent me a text. I saw people are like, what the hell? Why the black 23? I'm like, this is a Spencer Gallagher throwback buddy. I saw Spencer Gallagher. He was at the race all weekend. Remember Spencer Gallagher folks. Well, race car driver. All right. Just checking. I don't know if your generation remembers. What's my generation? One below me, I suppose, if not two. Definitely. I wish I was two. Yeah. Well, um Spencer flew. He's out west and he flew in and hung out with us all weekend. It was awesome. Tony Jr. and gms. All his guys are great. I just want to give them a thank you. When's the last time you ran in a race in a car that wasn't one of your like your numbers? Well, my, my, uh, I'm pretty naive at times. So I was like, man, let's go race, junior. He's like, all right. What you want on it? I said, don't do don't ask me. Put ever put whatever you want on it. What's a god on it? Leave it like it is. And he took a picture of the car and he goes, here it is. I said, don't change the thing. Don't put my name on it. And in my mind, I'm like, man, I'm gonna slip in here and have a race and yeah, that's gonna. No one's gonna know. But that ain't how it worked out. But, um, we had fun. I think Tony Jr. had some folks, you know, he takes his race car to the racetrack to try to sell new chassis. He had some people come up to him like, oh, man, what's, what's this calls? How much is this calls? You know, he can sell you a roller for his cheap is I think 45 grand. And there's other, there's other kits and things that they add to it in terms of like the wiring and anything electricals and other six grand and stuff like that. So you can get this car in multiple different phases. Um, uh, and, and race ready. So it's obviously got speed. So, oh, yeah. So it's, um, it's a lot of fun. Tony senior, there was not there. He was with Spencer Davis racing and mobile. People are gonna want to know was Tony senior there. Two beers, two beers was there. Kevin Pennell, we've had him on the show. Um, it was awesome. So hopefully we get chance to do that again. Two beers got some baseball cards. He's gonna sell me. Oh, really? Yeah. It's got a couple of complete sets. I'm gonna go over to his house and pick him up. The, um, the other thing that I wanted to say is what this is a, this is a, this is a shift to just a quick, um, the car's tour is badass comment. So in the car's tour, there's a lot of great racing series out there. But this is what I love about the car's tour. And this is why you ought to, uh, to, to, to, to appreciate the cars tour as well. We have the floatium. And it's basically a $10,000 reward that can be won by any team or, or, or, or a few teams that are in competition for it. Think about, think of it as like the no bull five or the Winston million. Well, it's the floatium. And it's $10,000. And it's every three races. So every three races, a pro team and a late model stock team have a chance at winning $10,000. And, and all seriousness, like I, I really appreciate it when the person that wins the floatium isn't necessarily the race winner because the race winner is going to get his purse of seven to $10,000 depending on the race. And then you want somebody else to win the floatium. And that's what happened this weekend. We had two people win the race. Kaden honeycut and Kaden Quappel. Well, they were not eligible for the floatium because they hadn't ran well enough in the previous two weeks. And so Lee Pulliam's team and I think Butterbeen who finished fifth in a late model stock won the $10,000. So they came there raced and brought home an extra 10 grand for running fifth. And then lapse of itch, uh, trading lapse of itch who ran third in the pro their team won the $10,000 floatium in the pro. Nice bonus. That couldn't have went any better. That's exactly how you want it to go. You have keen parts or Corvette parts you guys remember, uh, Tom keen. He gives away a free set of tires every single week to a race team. And we draw from the back of the field. So it's always somebody who had a rough night the week before. So they're kind of getting a little bit of a bump. It's a free set of tires. That's like 860 bucks. That's a nice bonus. It is. Boy, somebody kind of going by your race tires. You'd be happy to race all the time. So, um, you know, there's a lot of great things going on in the cars tour that is helping a lot of our race teams save a little money. Get through the weekend on a little bit better, uh, financial outcome. I just wanted to give that, um, that note to the cars tour. Super awesome. But we're going to move on. All right. I'm just going to say that, yes, it's disappointing. The seven and the one ran as well as they did and then they faded late in the race. I've had that happen at Darlington. It is what it is. I'm pretty proud of both those teams for being speedy and competitive. They got a lot of great stage points to be able to lessen the blow as terms of the overall result. I told them before the race, we're not going to win the championship today, but we can lose it. Well, we got out of there without losing the championship. And we got some vital stage points to offset. Like I said, that, that end result, Sammy Smith run awesome. Got a great result. And, um, really upset about how, uh, you know, we gave Rajah kind of a faulty race car. Rajah showed speed, drove up through their late in the race, had him look like what he's going to get a really, really good result. And, um, and the car, we had a mechanical issue with the car all night long. And that's frustrating. It happens, but damn it, it shouldn't. I know it does happen. We've had it happen before, but it shouldn't happen. So there'll be unfortunately, a little more, uh, attention to detail, I guess this week. But, um, anyways, that's just one of them things. It is. It sucks. But, um, anyhow, we, we move on to the next one and we give it, you know, we, we go forward. But, uh, on the cup side, you know, I watched the race. I thought it was an entertaining race at Darlington. Um, what do you think about going into the lap shoes? I think slap shoes said he said, uh, Darlington's so bad acid, even makes the next gen look good. I thought that was funny. Listen, I like, yeah, next gen's got it's good, good things and bad things, but I thought that was an accurate, uh, comment. Um, before, like, so we rained out practice and qualifying and we set the grid by metric. Do you agree with how we set, how they set the race because it's different than how you qualify? Cause in qualifying, all the chase guys go out last, but if you, if it rains out qualifying, they just do it by the regular metric. You know what I mean? What would you prefer? I think it's fine. How the, I think you just qualify where the metric puts you and go. Anyway, I think they, how it was before it was fine. I prefer random qualifying draw, but I think, um, I would just qualify by the metric and not put everybody at the end or last. I know they're trying to even things up, but like SVG went to run the car store this weekend and he asked how we did qualifying. And they said random draw and he goes, cool. And I thought, yeah, it is. It is. I agree. You don't like random draw for qualifying? We've been over this. I don't, you don't like random. No. Why? It's unfair, huh? I, you know what I like. This is what I like. So, I wish that, um, I wish there was a way to, to do it with, with qualifying or practice speeds. But then you're going to have all of the teams like doing everything they can to go out there and blast off a lap, right? To give themselves the best opportunity to, to, to, yeah. Yeah, for sure. And so that, that's why we don't do it that way. But you would prefer to, to have some kind of a like, all right, man, let's go out and practice because that's, that's another way that some, some, some deals do it. Um, I think that's kind of how we did it, I think actually that's kind of how we actually did it in the car store this weekend was based off of practice times. My thing with that is if I'm out there and I'm trying to achieve something in practice, I don't even know how I do it in the car store, but we were sitting in the, we were sitting on a plane and somebody asked, or SG asked how we did it. I think Zillich told him that we draw random and he goes, cool man, that's awesome. And I think maybe they had a little joke about how they do it in the car in the cup series. And so I think cup drivers might prefer the randomness of a pill draw. I think cup drivers, we're not, you know, none of us are drivers in the cup series. The only thing that I would say is, you know, you get, you don't want to go out into top 10, you don't want to go out in the top eight, you don't want to be early. And if you're freaking leading the points, you're, I don't mean, we'll just, if you're leading the points, it's in the chase and you actually draw the one pill, holy s***, dude. Yeah. That's trouble. But at some point earlier in New York, you probably drew the 25 pill and had a better, you know what I mean? I suppose. I think, I don't love the, I don't love the idea of random draw. But I think it should be, you know, it should be maybe the, maybe the way they're, maybe how they're, how they're doing this sort of metric is a bit too confusing. It could be a little simpler. Yeah. I, I would improve the metric, but I don't want to get rid of it. Yeah. What about last, what about last week's results? Just the results. Well, that's how, that's, wow, that's kind of how it was, honestly, a little bit. But obviously it wasn't exactly how it was because priests, what do you start a third or fourth? So about your position in points. Well, that's what I was going to say, random draw, if it rains out, you line it up by points. No, no, no, qualify by point, like qualify, invert the points and qualify that way. Guy that's last in points goes out first. Guy that's first in points goes out last. I'm okay with that. Yeah. See, I don't, I still think you're, I still think you're making it hard because right now the metric makes it hard for anybody once you have a, if you have a bad race, like one guy has a bad race, and then, you know, two bad races in a row, you're like dropping way down to points. Sorry. One better. Two better. Two better. Got me. What if it's not self-inflicted stuff? Sorry. What's the man you want? Do what you handheld? You want to pass by? No, I just think we're trying to, we're trying to, you're trying to even it out every week and make it a level. You're not trying to give everybody a chance. You going to ribbon? Yeah. Well, that's why you do it by random. Everyone's on the same playing field. No, that's crazy. That's too much. How's that crazy? It's what we did for how many years? You never complained about it once. Yeah. I mean, they changed the career you did it. They changed it, they changed it for a reason. I guess. Damn. I mean, they changed a lot of things for reasons that it causes it all work. I kind of, look, I mean, they put, they always used to put the, um, remember the guys that were kind of, um, the open teams, they used to make them go last. Yeah. They didn't go first, whichever was the most detrimental. So I don't know. For those guy, that stuff I agree with, make those cars go together. But the guys that run the whole grind, I mean, well, you're trying to be fair to everybody. You can't put these, these open teams in the bad spot. Run the whole year. Run better in a race. Let's talk about, I guess we got to talk about Carson Hosepore. I really don't want to. There's been a couple of comments, so Jeff Burton on Spire. They don't seem to care said Burton. They seem to be okay with it. But hey, and maybe that's right. I don't know. He's got a long term contract. They believe in him. I'm not going to question Jeff Dickerson and the ownership. You would have to think at some point, they would say, look, enough is enough. But to this point, publicly, anyway, they don't seem to care a whole lot about, you know, what, what, what's happened on the race track or off the race track. Um, I think Denny said that they're an unsurious. He said there's no adults in the room and they're an unsurious team. They're an unsurious team. Brad keselowski post race after an incident with Carson says his day is coming and it's coming hard. Watch out Carson. Carson Hosepore gets out of the car and says, I don't know what happened. He spun. Um, and to the comment that Brad made, uh, Hosepore says, I'll tighten my belts. And now it's on t shirts. Let's say tighten your belt. Yeah. There's things about this. I like there's things about this. I wish we're a little different. I love the selling t shirts. I love the smart ass comments. I love the showmanship. I love that, you know, we got guys that get out and are smart asses where you like them or not, whether they annoy you, get on your skin. I don't give a fuck. I think it's good and I know Brad, it sucks for Brad and Brad said what he said in frustration, but when he drivers frustrated every now and then when he drivers getting out going, I'm mad. He's got one coming. That's, that's some bad. That's, that's good. Um, um, the one thing though is, I, you know, did Carson make a mistake? Did Carson do that on purpose? Did, wait, I don't even need to watch it. I've seen it over and over. Did he get loose? Did he get tight? Did he? What happened? Right? We know we none of us know. And that's the one thing that's missing that I wish was there. So like when he gets interviewed after the race, I wish he said, man, I fucked up or, uh, you know, Yaldon's, I did not that he's not going to, if he did it on purpose, right? He's not, I don't want him to say I did it on purpose, but he might say, Y'all didn't see what happened to that before when he did the XYZ, you know, I just need something, right? Of, I was just like to know like, all right, man, what was going on? You know, in, in, in most cases, people give you that information. Most, most cases drivers will say, yeah, you know, Brad, either man, I fucked up or Brad drives me like, or something to give you some idea of maybe his, his disposition, but we didn't get that. And so that's, you know, that's the kind of the one thing I wish. Or something would have done is after the race, kind of, I don't think he wants to tell you what he did. What happened? I know. And then that's, that's, that's, there's not a lot of guys. I can't, I can't remember many, uh, racers that don't get out and give you some sort of emotion around it or why reasoning behind some why, and I mean, that's the problem, at least with this instance is now you've got like a lot of people are mad that like you come off and just, and their mind, you're acting like you're condescending and just like laughing about it and not saying like, I messed up or this happened and it's like, you know, at what point like, do you change this because it's, I don't think you messed up. I think you knew what he was doing. What did you think he did? Well, he was, he think he ran, he think he just was like, I'm a little clipping. Uh, I think he was okay with contact because that was the third time. He knew he wasn't going to pass us. We're getting near the end. We're just maintaining, trying to get to the end of the deal there. Uh, we had a bad pitch sequence. We went from ninth to the mid teens there. So, um, and he, that was the third attempt of him diving to the bottom, not clearing us. The first time he stayed real low and was like, okay, that's not going to work. Second time he kind of went three quarter of the way and was like, yeah, okay, still going to be a tough pass. The last time when we hit was whenever he was just like, I'm just going to, I'm never going to make this pass without some sort of mix up here. He had to, he was going to have to stop our momentum. And that's the only way you could do it. Like that wasn't just. just the first time I went in there, I got Lewis and got in on them. That was the third time. - I got you. - So he knew like when you're going in there. - He just said all of his patients. - I think he just was okay. He knew he wasn't gonna pass us and he was like, I need to go and I'm gonna just, I'm gonna use somebody up and I don't care. - Yeah. - 'Cause there's never a man I didn't mean to get in and I'm sorry about that. There's never any of that. And that's my issue with it. And this is like, to me this is the fourth time that he's hurt the car that I least worked for his day. Like four times that I can remember. And it's just, I don't, I don't, I don't get it. Like there's never, you want it. Like you said, you want to, you want to look at a video of somebody be like, yeah, man, I've got in there hard. I didn't mean to get into him. Like you want something to be like, yeah, okay. Well, he just got messed up. But there's never, there's never any of that to me. - Reading through the comments and listening to the interviews and so forth, it seems like that host of R is bit over all of the analysts or all of the weekly, why to do this? Why to do that? He seems to be like, this is (beep) annoying, right? And I think too, he said in some comments about his car is not being quite good enough. Is he, you know, is he kind of like, you know, where's our speed? Where we were, earlier in the year, we were this. Now we're not, I'm not, maybe he's not quite as confident or he's a little, he's had a kind of a, they had a little bit of a rough run to the end of the regular season. He said, you know, hey, I think there was some comments where he was like, well, you know, we're trying (beep) we're in the chase, we got it, we had a little window of like where we could just (beep) and go outside the box a bit and just kind of do whatever. It didn't end the way they wanted and a lot of those races late in the regular season. And now the chase is here and he said, hey, our cars aren't quite as fast as maybe I'd want. And you know, as he gets out there in the race, he gained a lot of spots early in the race. But I don't know, you know, I'm kind of trying, you know, there's not, he doesn't give you a lot of. - My thing is like, if you're mad about what people are saying, they're always asking like, I don't know if he is. I mean, he doesn't really tell you. - Yeah, I don't know. - We're just trying to guess at this point. - But like, at what point though, does the stop is who he is and then the, as Brad and these other drivers are gonna have to just make him pay for it. - Man, I don't, I mean, as a driver, how many times does a guy have to mess with you until you've had enough? - I mean, not many times. I just, if you're gonna say it, go do it. - That's my thing that was Brad, you've said it like. - Yeah, I mean, I'm not picking on Brad, but I'm just saying, how many times have we heard drivers say, man, it's gonna come back on him. This is gonna, it's gonna be rough on him down the road. - Feel like it's the theme. - Well, it's not yet. There's hasn't been a result for it. - It hasn't yet been rough on him yet. He hasn't had anyone teach him this lesson that they're all thinking they're gonna teach him. - What do you think teaches him a lesson? One, one bad race, broken to a link, or to like-- - Wait till you're a multiple DNS. - Brad does something to you when you're racing for a win and you have to pass Brad and Brad goes, you know what, not today, buddy. - Yeah, I don't think so. - It's gonna be when he's gotta be up front. - Yeah, I mean, I agree. Taking him out when he's running 20, if there's 20, it doesn't really accomplish much. - No. - Does it add fuel to it by when you get out and you kind of make a mockery of it and say, you know, for the next six hours, you know what I mean? Does that not make it look worse for him? You know what I mean, Travis? - No, I think a lot of fans see it and hate it. - What did I say? - The next six hours, the shirt's gonna be discounted by six percent. - Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. - And like, I think that's the problem is, the fans love that and so he's gonna plan to it. But like, he's also gotta think about the driving side of things. Like, that's probably not a good, that's probably not a good move down the road. I mean, you're just, what depends? If no one pays him back, then-- - Well, if no one ever pays him back, but like eventually, eventually someone's going to, that has to, you can't just keep doing it. - Well, that's just a, I don't think that's gonna happen. He has, he's kind of been given, I think, a little bit of the playbook on how to, yeah, how to like turn everything into a t-shirt. - I agree. - Not literally, but like metaphorically, he's kind of been given his playbook and, and he's not gonna let off the gas on that. He's gonna keep doing his thing. Like, when he gets out of the car, he's gonna do what he thinks he needs to do to sort of stir the pot. He doesn't want to, he doesn't want to sit down with Brad and talk it out. He doesn't want to get with Cory Hyme and go, man, let's find some common ground. He doesn't. I've had conversations with him. He's like, I like these rivalries. I want these rivalries. I won't, I want this sort of, I want to battle these guys. And so, that's, he, I think he really enjoys it. - And to Jeff Burton's point, clearly, Spire and Dickerson are okay with it, whereas when Ross was doing this, Justin Marx was saying that things need to change. - Well, I think that's the interesting part. So, Justin, you know, they ran into Rick Hendrick's car. Rick Hendrick went to Justin Marx and said, "Hey, we're all Chevrolet here, get your boys in line, Justin Marx goes, man, I better, Rick Hendrick told me to get my (beep) together. - It's important for my company. - I will go over here and tell my guys, I'm gonna relay that information right or wrong. That's what happened. Dickerson and Rick talk every day. Jeff Dickerson and Rick Hendrick are in direct communication. You know, damn well that Rick has shared his advice. And it's really, you know, whether Dickerson goes, yeah, I think that's probably important to tell my guys to make some adjustments. Or Rick, I'm just gonna let this kind of ride itself out. I'm sure there's a lot of different opinions, you know, when it comes to like how Rick feels, how Jeff Gordon feels, how all these different influential people feel about what's going on on the race track and off the race track. And you know, as long as he's not running into a team Chevy car, I think everything's not that problematic, right? That's the difference between track Allison, what happened in the past. But I don't know, man, I mean, I'm, again, I like a lot of what I see. I like that it's start, you know, there's, we kind of, we need, it is the rivalries, I don't mean any payment. Yeah, we need the rivalries, the entertainment of it. We do for sure. We need and he's providing it. Man, if he's if hard, if you pulled hosts of our, just out of the field entirely, man, I don't know that I like it as much as him involved in it. And I don't know that I'm, I don't have any, when you say that, are you talking about, I don't have anything, I don't have anything that I would tell him to do differently. Other than, I would love to know if he, if he's up or did he do that on purpose? And I don't think he's gonna tell us that. I could probably call him and have that conversation with him privately. But you wouldn't tell him to do anything differently. What would you want him to do differently? Runins with like 25 drivers Dale. Like, I feel like, I'm not asking you to not, like, be a little edgy with your racing and stuff, but like, if this was your driver, you'd be speaking to him. It's gotta come down. 'Cause you don't want, but. I mean, he ain't my driver. He's not my driver. We're saying if he was, he's not. I don't have to worry about that. But you said you wouldn't tell him like, oh, we gotta tell him that I get coming up here again. He'll be back in the spotlight here soon. Who? You? See how we go there or rally race. I mean, you wouldn't tell him to change one thing. Didn't you want to call him and tell him if you want to race my car as you can't be reckoned? Well, he's not. I mean, there's no plans for him to drive my car. No, but he's still. If he was going to drive my car tomorrow, I would say you can't do that in my car. I mean, we've actually been in this. I mean, if he was going to drive my car, I would say, dude, don't go running to anybody. I don't need that. It's not good for my company. Okay, in the middle of it. Okay, thank you. But he's not driving my car. And, podcaster Dale's okay with it. Yes. Car owner's not. Car owner Dale does not. Race fan me is good with it. Yeah, unless I mean, absolutely. If he ran into Josh Berry, I'd have a different opinion. Can I be honest? No. But he all want me to lie. If he ran into Blaney, I'd be like, (beep) Good. Blaney, go kick his ass. Okay, who else? (laughing) Who else? Who can Carson not run into? [BLANK_AUDIO] I mean, if he ran in, I would say, you know, I have guys out there that I'm really, really good friends with, and I would rather him not ruin their day. If, look, I mean, I don't know how to put this. I don't know how to put this in the words. But I mean, if it was a indirect car that he ran into and did that too, we would be having a whole different conversation today. I don't feel saying to me. And we would, we would be expecting some change, whether we were in the, we're not in, like if he ran into an HMS car and did that instead of Brad, we would all be sitting here assuming that there's going to be a conversation. There's going to be a change. There's going to be some, some understanding, right, going forward, but it wasn't, and it wasn't, it was a brat. It was back in the last key. It's just RFK. So you're, they're like, couldn't be, couldn't be more polar opposite or, couldn't be more unrelated. You know, it could, it's not a team Chevy car. It's not a car that anybody in, you know, in, hoes or inner circle, or is outer circle and gives a **** out. It's the same thing. And it fits for the whole series is that it's a lot of fun to watch until it's the car you work. That's right. And we all feel that way about everything. I'm okay with it as long as it don't happen to my guy. As long as it's not me. It's fine. Yeah. So in anything. Yeah. Yeah. So, I mean, I, I'm Brad keselowski. I would say is a good friend of mine and, but we're all big boys and he puts, you know, he puts that driver suit on. He knows he signed up for whatever they happen out there. He knows what he's getting himself into. And if he thinks this, he needs to go handle this, he will handle it. And if I were Brad, I would absolutely want some redemption or a get back, you know. So we'll just have to see how it plays out. But I mean, look, our sport needs these interactions. It needs this, whatever you want to call it, drama entertainment controversy, whatever you want to call it needs it and he's delivering it. I wish there were, there are say four or five more host of ours in the field. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe if there were more of them, we wouldn't be complaining as much. Well, it wouldn't always be just one guy, it wouldn't always be Carson, Carson, Carson. I know. Yeah. So if it's three or four race sometimes, let's get a, let's get about three or four more out there. We'd be, we'd be entertained if this would be a three hour show. Damn right. Yeah. It'd be awesome. Yeah. I do, I do think there's a little bit of a, I love, not to catch off teaching, but we get Denny Hamlin coming on his podcast and saying they're an unserious organization. Now, that is a, Denny Hamlin is really sharp. And he knows how to dig and he knows how to really get, get you good. And he saves, he's, he's, he's not a person that throws jabs out there often. But that was a, that, that's, that gets, that's going to get under their skin. Like he's, he said that and makes you think twice about what you're, yeah, like portraying here. Or if, if, if, if somebody said that junior murder sports was an unserious business, like, I would be pissed. Well, especially with somebody with, that you would respect, it's, I mean, that's really a dig. And this is one car owner to another, right? Yeah. It is. Yeah. Wow. We, who do, we got Denny Hamlin going at him, man, what, what are we complaining about here? Well, I think on track. Yeah, but if he doesn't do it, then Denny doesn't say this, then we don't, then they're just talking about springs and shocks and packages and, well, Denny's probably, whether the **** next gen cars good and traffic and all this, our horse **** Denny's going to be talking about how he parked in front of McDowell and McDowell and having any of it. Yeah. Golly. What the hell is Matt? What was going on McDowell? Well, he was wild, man. Denny threw a jab, McDowell threw an uppercut. He just, hold up in front of him. No, I, I would have done the same thing. Yeah. I would have pulled that move. I mean, that's how you pass. That's better than running into him. But it was quite clear. I think we watched the replay. Yeah. I said, I'm not lifting the opposite of host of what happened there that McDowell had a couple, remember three wide off the corner. Are you in the right. Oh, that was pretty bad. I was watching that happen. That was pretty rough. I think that was just that in those, those moments happened and when you get three wide off the four Darwinton, it is sketchy and you, these guys are so close to each other, you miss judge by a foot, someone's getting wrecked. Yeah. So I don't, I think that was just a clear misjudgment. I think throwing up into Denny was don't do that. I didn't appreciate that. Wait a minute. But, I mean, you say I don't appreciate it, but like it wasn't like he chopped his nose off. Like he was clear. He was pretty tight. But I mean, it was that. It wasn't that tight. I had seen it done a hundred times that race already. Yeah. So I mean, just I was really surprised that he was a lot more clear than host. I was real surprised that McDowell got into him like that. I was too. No, I think McDowell was surprised that Denny hit the wall. Yeah. I think McDowell thought, man, I'm going to just show him, you know, maybe McDowell's sitting there going, I'm, oh, shove him down the straightaway. I don't know what the hell. But McDowell probably was like, whole ****. I think he was. Yeah. And Denny bobbled a little bit like he didn't have the pace. I think they're 60, 40 blame. Well, I'm just saying, I don't, McDowell's not doing that every single week. He's not. No, he didn't have this track record of being a guy that does those kind of things. So I think when he, when it happened, he was kind of like a ****. These cars don't really mean to do that. These cars don't run against the fence quite as well as like the cars when you drove there. And you see they turned down a lot off the wall like, and when Denny got up there and not high stuff and he got hit a little bit, they just, they just kind of well, even when Bragg got put up there, it kind of shot down. And I think the same kind of thing was happened to Denny a little bit. Yeah, that was something that was a, that was a wild turn of events and it erased a bit of Denny's advantage in terms of the points because he come, come out there with a, with a, a difficult result. Which look, I'm not pulling against Denny. Um, I actually think we all picked him to win the championship, but I do want the championship battle to be interesting and fun. I do not want somebody to lock up this championship a race early or him for bed to race his early, because we will never hear the end of it. So, oh my gosh. Christopher Bell finally wins after seven second place finishes, um, he is in second place. 12 points back. Christopher Bell launches himself forward in the points. Didn't see that happen. You didn't? I mean, not, not the second, not for more. He was at the second. Yeah. Well, I mean, we've seen. He said speed. But we've seen when I think we're all like terrible at math because we've all seen how wins are vaulting people forward in the points. Yeah. We saw with Lugano. We even know, but we see it and we go, every time we still see it, we go, damn, he, you know, gained a bunch. You know, we know what they're going to get if they win, but we still look at the points and go, wow, didn't anticipate him moving forward that much or gaining that much or, I think, I think the problem is that we don't, we forget that most likely, if a driver wins, he's probably up there the entire race. So he's getting the stage once we, like, that too, but I just think that the way NASCAR did the points this year, we've, it's this, it's a really, really cool hybrid of it is. I like it. Full season points and winning matters the most consistency is huge. Consistency is important. But gosh, if you can win a race, that really gives you a big gain. And so they did a really good job of weighing the, the win, the points that you get for winning. So Joey had a really good month, right? He did. And then he went from what right near the cutoff to, it was below the cutoff. Yes. Like 60 points at one point and jumped all the way up to like 10th or 9th or something. Same thing with being inconsistent. We went from like eighth into points to below the cutoff, but with a three or four straight bad races. Yeah. And that's what hurts. Yep. So it's a great point system now. Chris, Christopher bailed with all the race tracks that are coming up. Hell, man, he's going to be, he's a threat. I was a little bit surprised that, you know, I know Briscoe had the fuel issue ran out of gas, cost himself a lot of track position, had to race hard all night long to gather all that stuff back up. But and the Toyota's back it, we're back it, not really a mile and a half, but we're back at a big track where we're start, we can kind of see whether the strut changes that NASCAR made earlier in the mid minute of the summer matter. It seems like the Toyota's are still strong. There was a time though where the fours were good, Chevy's were good, blah, blah, blah. But the Toyota still look like the better team or, you know, because you had, you had parts of the race where it was 2311 up front dominating, then you had parts of the race where Joe gives racing was up front dominating. The five got pretty strong for it, but the Toyota's still look better. As that gap closed a little bit, we'll see as we get through the next several weeks. Right now, Denny Hamlin leads Christopher Bell by 12 points, Ryan Blaney is 16 points back from the lead. Pileretic 24 chase brisco 37 and taggibs 39 Larsen Lagano chase Elliott, all those guys in seven through night got their work cut out for them to be able to jump up into this battle between All these Toyota's and the lone Ford of Ryan Blaney And Josh Barry reeled off another top 10 finish. It hasn't happened. Yes, it has it hasn't happened with the wood brothers. I think he's got five in a row. I think it hasn't happened Since 76 is a five or six. Oh six six. It hasn't happened since 1970 six and 76. Yes, impressive. And they weren't even running full season then. The last time they were running full season was with Marvin Pantch in the 60s and they did it. They had six top 10 in a row. They weren't running full time with Pearson in 76. But they still got six top 10s in a row. What's impressive? It is Josh is up to 25th in point. I was going to say he's he's climbing. Yeah, like he was mired back in the hall. He was way back. They've been paving the road Out at the next paving the road next to the house and They've been working on this thing forever It It's been they just it's been a lot of s*** going on out there on the street And my house is right on the road. I mean, it's literally right on the street and The return for my air conditioner duck because we got this filter time subscription out there So I don't go out to this house all the time. I'm out there as much as possible I get so I get every filter sent to it every three months and every now and then It's backing up. So I got a couple of filters downstairs. I got a couple over here a couple over there But I'm not gonna pause my subscription. We got them we'll see we'll still keep it coming and so I've got some stuff stored away So right before I left I was like man will change my air filters for I leave because I don't know if I come back in a week or Three months or six months. I don't know. I'm gonna change these filters So I opened up the return and this return is right next to the door and which is literally 60 feet from the street So it's all right there and it was black like carbon black and I was like holy mackerel. I've never seen this filter this dirty before I've seen dirty filters But usually it's like dust bunnies and it's gray dust and it's crap You know when you don't change them for a long long time they can get pretty bad. This thing was charcoal colored truly and But I took it out and I was like dang Amy look at this and she took a picture of it. I put a new filter in And she and I put I held the carbon filter right next to it or not the carbon filter I held the dirty filter next to it and was like just take a picture of the two things She said it to me and then I posted it. I said hey change my filters. Wow look at this You know, thank thanks thanks thanks to my subscription with filter time I can have you ever seen a filter this dirty and people were like that's a carbon filter. That's not a dirty filter That's a carbon filter. I'm like it's not I put the damn thing in and it was just like this filter right next to it And people were not Some people said it was AI It was so funny But there were a lot of people that were like no, that's a carbon filter. You don't even know You don't even know your filters. You only know your own filter Like you have a filter company and don't even know what a carbon filter is And I'm like I promise you man and I even called Blake my partner filter time and I was like hey dude. I was like Did you say that filter? He's like yeah, I was like I don't get a carbon filters He's like we don't even sell him like we we used to sell carbon filters. We don't sell him no more I was like I didn't think so. I was like I didn't think you'd slip one into my order or something accidentally And he's like no You get the same type of filter. Yeah The hidden notice I know and I was like man. I don't know how it got that color. I really don't I can only assume that it was it was drawing in All this because they were they grow they could they ground the street up. Oh, yeah You know, and then it was dirt forever and then they came in and paved the new street and somehow or another That for term being right next to the door It was bringing that I mean, I don't know. It's crazy. It's crazy. You just don't know What them filters are doing Yeah, working all the time And even the back filter normally like I've got one filter that's always way dirtier than the rest of the house Because it's right in the hall traffic and everything so we're always walking through there And in and out of the door and all that And so it gets dirtier than any of the other ones and Some of them and they they look brand new like I'll this one will be dirty This one upstairs or this one over here's doesn't look dirty at all. We're not carbon So anyways, it was um, I was it was entertaining. I think I hate that construction. That's the because well they're done Yeah, good because I went over the handlebars of that scooter because Oh, you did you ate it. Yeah, that was well Yeah, so that was fun yesterday trying to go to every comment going that's not it's not a carbon filter. They know it's serious when their mom breaks out the middle name What did you hear from your mom when you were in trouble? well I don't I don't think I never was in trouble with mom What'd your dad say um Dale junior TJ did you get all right? I was middle name. Yeah, middle name if you heard the middle name you Dale is my middle name. That's why someone's asking what would yeah Fire at the middle name you - No one called me Ralph, my entire life, until Amy. - So when the girls are bad, does Amy use middle names? - She does. - Yeah. - I think I've heard her, I think. - I always knew it was bad 'cause I got the first in middle name and no last name. That's when I knew I was. - Yeah, I was never in trouble with my mother. We were so, we were really, we were very similar. And so, we kind of always, I don't know, man. She said I was a good kid. I didn't raise hail in the crib. Wouldn't hard to deal with. You know, you get, if you have a couple of kids, you'll have one that sleeps great. Always quiet, not a lot of screaming. And then you'll have, the other one will be just, mad all the time, just crying all the time, fussing all the time, fussing about everything. So, I think Kelly was the one that fussed. And "Cory Day" gave a very matter of fact, interview after the race. So we kind of have an understanding of how he felt about it. And they talked. And I guess "Swallich" was like, you know, "Swallich" is unhappy. It's gonna wreck him or something like that to that effect. - Sounds like we could have a little rivalry going. I'm here for it. - Sounds like it. I mean, that's, you know, we'll see how it goes. - Something that Chad don't know what their handle is. Once you know, what was your favorite cartoon growing up? (laughs) - Oh, it's (beep) Damn, man, I don't know. My favorite cartoon. It, I don't know that I had a top of the line. - You have a couple that you have number one at the Flintstones. - No. - Man, no. - I watched wrestling. Like cartoons were just thing that came on before "Saturday Morning" wrestling, where I got to see Magnum TA, Dusty Roads, those two guys over my shoulder. And Ric Flair. All those guys come on and do some promos. They were gonna wrestle some on Saturday morning they were gonna get on. It was gonna come on at like nine or 11 o'clock. Treats it in like me watching wrestling 'cause she said it made me hyper. And so I had to go in my sister's room and watch it. And they were, you were gonna see a lot of great promos. They were gonna wrestle some scrub guy and beat him real quick and then do some promos. Man, it was awesome. - Did it make you hyper? - Yeah. I mean, I wrestled with the, I had this giant pillow or something or I'd get a pill off the couch and I'd sue Plexit and wrestle and body slamming. - After wrestling was over you. - No, during the show. - Oh, during the show. - Yeah, on the couch, you do like the moves that they do. - Yeah, mimicking the moves. - Here's a frog splash. - And that was two, that was me being too hyper. - I always had on the remote control, like ESPN as the previous channel. And then watch wrestling and then parents come around and hit the previous channel. Like, oh, just watching sports here. - Me and my friends, we made our belts. We would, so I would go up, I would go up to my buddy's house and we had belts that we made out of paper. Everybody had like, we had the television. We had the, we had the world title, the US title, the television title. We had all of the different titles tag team and we wrestled like crazy in this basement. And it was carpet. And one time, my buddy was picked me up for a body slam and we lost our balance and I landed on my face and got a massive rug burn on my cheek. I'm never having to go to school with that thing. I felt like a bad ass because I'm like, yeah, man. It was fighting with my friend. (laughing) Were you a Flintstones kid? I watched the Flintstones. - With vitamins? - Yes. - Those are good, man. - Those things, that's why you never get sick 'cause you eat like 12 of those a day. - I don't know, I would, I would probably say GI Joe. - Oh, GI Joe. - I watch some of the, yeah. - GI Joe, I liked GI Joe toys. - Yeah, I had a place. - Oh, they were awesome. - My buddy, the same guy where we wrestled, he had this playroom and he had every GI Joe thing. - I was very envious of the battleship. I never had it. He was a big battleship and a friend of mine had it, and I was very jealous. - I didn't have it all those toys now. - Oh, nice. - We worked a lot. - Trying to pull it up about this person's question. What's your thoughts on the Celebrity Death Match episode with Dale vs. Jeff? Did you ever watch that? - I thought it was awesome. Celebrity Death Match back in the day on MTV. - It was kind of funny. - It was a huge deal. - Yeah. - And so when they could, you know, they were gonna put anybody on their, you know, there's thousands and thousands of celebrities feuding or what, or not feuding or competing. - Yeah. - That they could have put in the ring. And they actually, for them to acknowledge NASCAR and dad and Jeff, awesome. - Maybe we need some, maybe we need some little clips of NASCAR drivers doing makeup of NASCAR drivers. - Yeah. - That's what we need as a promo like that. - Yeah, like the Corey Day, so wallets thing coming up for the next race. You know, I think that the favorite for the race is probably Denny, Denny super strong at St. Louis. The last couple of trips there seems like he's always ran really well. And the Toyota's seem to still have if you're going off with just Darlington still seem to have a good advantage. But this track is somewhat similar to other flat tracks like Phoenix, like New Hampshire. So maybe, would we see? - I don't feel like Denny is the top. - I know, well. - I feel like he is. - Would we see a Blaney? Would we see a Josh Berry? Would we see the Ford's get up there and mix it up a little bit? - Josh Berry could have number seven of the top. 10 streak. It's possible. I think, I think Joey Blaney, Cinder's got to win here. Yeah. So it's going to be hard to not think those cars will be fast. Yep. I think so too. I would, I would think that Dendi probably still leaves St. Louis with the points lead without having trouble. Yes. I would say. I think he has probably, you know, top 10, easy top, easy top 10s in each stage, maybe top 5s as well. And I think he comes out of there with a top 5 finish. If not a win for Dendi, I just feel like he's going to be the favorite. I think if you don't, if you have another Chris for Bell like this past week, and I think that lead's gone. Okay. Ah, yeah, I don't, I think Dendi will finish good enough to maintain it. Yeah. Can a non chase driver win this weekend? I don't, I don't feel confident. Outside of maybe Josh Barry. Yeah. Because there's just something like right now. He's just on a tear. I mean, Josh Barry to me is just, you know, gonna, but he's not going to do anything to jeopardize a chase driver. No, no, no. So there's a couple things about that I've watched Josh do here recently. And he's aggressive. What he needs to be, his cars are good. And he can race guys aggressively. And he's also been smart. I mean, you don't have six top 10s in a row. I think Josh Barry, absolutely can go in there and get another top 10. I just don't think that, you know, when the chase rolls around, the playoffs roll around all through the last several years, those guys that are competing for that high stakes and high reward just get better. It's weird somehow a run fast. You'll see it won't be uncommon. I guess this weekend and going forward to see, you know, all 16 of them in the top 20 or if not in the top 16. I have one that has a bad. Yeah, any issue or something mechanical failure or something, but the pace picks up somehow. What about a Ryan Prius? I don't know why. I mean, you know, I think about New Hampshire and maybe the similarities between the two tracks. And I think that Ryan Prius is really, really strong at the flatter tracks like New Hampshire because of his modified heritage and background. Can he go in there and throw a top 10 down? I mean, I don't think it's out of the question. Yeah. Thanks, TJ. I mean, I don't, I think Ryan, the fours fed speed there. I think I think Blaney is going to be probably the car to be in my opinion. I think Blaney will be tough to beat. I do think Cintricle hang around between 5th and 10th somewhere in there. I think Joey, I think Joey will manage three to three to six somewhere, three to six somewhere there. Possibly win if he gets a good track position to end. Yeah. I also think that I do think Chris and I think the RFK cars could quietly be settling somewhere in the same area, but I, you know, they can same guy. I don't know about like redic. I don't, I don't know, you know, what are those cars going to do this week? That's my question is cars like that, but I think Larsson will be fast. What do you got as a famous Travis? I think you got to go with the Toyota's. And that's the hard part. Like if you're looking for top 10s, it's like, well, Jay Jared's got four. So there's four spots, I think you're going to be taking up like it's, to me, this is one of the most even playing field tracks, you know, across the board as far as like whether it's not just like one dominant, you know, what I mean, like the playing field is definitely more level here. And you have, you can have break issues here, get too low on air. There's a lot of variables that can happen here. Yeah, I'll be interesting. And this is kind of where you'll start to see people, you know, and the chase you there fall back and kind of realize they're, they now they got to go from broke going forward or their drivers are like, okay, I can just keep chipping away. Yeah. Like I think, um, William Byron, you know, this past weekend, we, we said, and I think a lot of other people off in other areas of the industry said that you can have some oligons in this, but I don't think you can have that type of result. Um, so I think unfortunately for Byron and Byron fans out there that his opportunity to try to go run for this championship is over in one week. What if he wins the next two? He's gonna have to, and I just don't see it happening. I know. I'll be saying, but we also didn't see the Gano win. He could win nine straight two TJ. I'm just saying you really want to go out there and the universe somewhere. I don't, I think he's had, he could be, he could win. But Byron has shown nothing this year. Yeah. So he's gonna win two in a row. He's got to beat. There's six Toyota's in his way. That's the problem. It's like, if you're eating one wall of Toyota. Yeah. Yeah. It's not like, I agree with that. I mean, you got to, there's so many good cars. So, but all right. Well, I think, um, for me, I like, obviously, I think the Toyota's are strong. This would be a great track for him. Wouldn't be surprised to see some of the Penske cars up there running well, mixing it in in the top 10. I do like priests, because I just feel like this is a, this is short track tendencies. It's type of race track that I think he's comfortable with. So he ran 10th this past weekend, could see him do another top 10 finish. So what about a parlay for top 10s between priests and another top 10 for Josh Barry? That'd be my top 10 parlay to try to really make a make a little chunk change. So I'll make you pretty penny. Yeah, should Josh is gonna run top 10. You could have bet that this weekend and probably done pretty well. All right. Um, that's the dirty Modo segment.
