This transcript features a mix of promotional content and personal discussion. Her, a dating app for queer women, non-binary, and trans individuals, announces its "Shoot Your Shot" campaign for Pride, inviting event organizers to submit their events for funding and promotion via @HerSocialApp on Instagram and TikTok. The main segment involves the hosts of "Good Children" podcast revealing their upcoming hiatus due to major life transitions, such as ending their five-year cohabitation and changing priorities, but they assure listeners there is no drama and they will return eventually. They delve into personal growth, with one host discussing resilience in facing rejection and staying positive, while the other explores the fantasy of becoming a pop star, complete with dance routines and a unique style. They also touch on the stress of change, the importance of community, and lighter subjects like making TikTok dance videos and the merits of milkshakes. Overall, the conversation blends promotional messages for Her's Pride initiative with genuine reflections on friendship, career shifts, and emotional well-being.
Hey, Visaphix. Hey, Saphix. Pride events need support. And thanks to her, we got it in the bag. Her is a Saphic dating app for queer women, for non-binary folks and trans folks, and all Saphic identifying members of the community 100%. And for Pride, her is doing a little thing called "Chutly Shot," where party planners and community organizers can submit to get their events funded and promoted by her. In order to enter head to hers Instagram or TikTok, @HerSocialApp. That's @HerSocialApp to shoot your shot. If you're not planning an event, send it to your friends. Who is? Yeah, why not? Why not? Thank you, Her. Thanks, Her. Hey, guys. If you're driving pullover-- And it's not even a joke. We just want to start this episode and just give you a little insight of what's to come. And that is a hiatus. We're taking a hiatus from Good Children, The Podcast, which is crazy, as well. It actually is surreal to say it has been such an-- I mean, it has been not an integral part of our lives. It has been our lives for the past four years. And we're stepping back for a second. It's no tea. It's no shade. There's no beef. There's no beef. Like even my touch. It's like stirs forever. There's none of that. It is simply just a moment in our lives where we're ready to just prioritize different things for a second. And who's to say when we'll come back? Who's to say? But you know what's so beautiful? We are not going anywhere. No. And you can continue to follow our journeys separately and together. And together. We will continue to talk for the rest of our lives. We'll never shut up. That's something we certainly have learned. And who knows what iteration of what we do will come next. But I do think it's pretty safe to say this dynamic. We'll never stop. And whatever journey we both go on. Exactly. But we wanted to give you a heads up because we didn't want to drop it on you in like a finale episode out of nowhere. So this is not our last episode. There are more to come. But sometime in June, we will sit down. We'll have a real conversation. And we'll kiss our routine goodbye for a little bit. And then we'll go out of the wings. And we'll fly off. We'll fly off. Like you'll always do, guys. Pinky up. Pinky up. Pinky up. Pinky up. Pinky up. Pinky up. Yeah. I just like I do want to always put my pinky up. Oh, what happened? I was just like getting into it. Yeah, you got into it. It was a full body dance routine. I want to get into dancing. I want a choreographer. You should take dance classes. You should go to dance classes. I did have a girl reach out to me. I actually should just actually respond. Every week you start a sentence like that. I had a girl react to me. Yeah. I did. She reached out to me. She's a choreographer. And she was like, I genuinely want to be your choreographer. I was like, actually for me, that's actually that's fun. I want to be a pretend pop star. I have. Let's just move this body. And you love to do it. I love to do it. I see these dance creators online. And I'm like, I just want to move my body like that. You should post TikTok dances. Should I do this by next? That's why I'm there. I don't see what's wrong with Pursuit. No, it doesn't need to be a whole thing. Just post some amongst other things. You just like some post some dances. Yeah. There are a lot of like hot men like trade that do a little dance. But like in my head, I like. Sometimes I judge hot trade that do a little dance. Well, that's because you want to be them. I think that's what it is. And but I don't want people to just think I'm hot trade doing a little dance. Well, that's the next day you post something else. OK. I guess that's a good learning lesson. I can diversify the portfolio that way. Yeah. Because I like sometimes I'm like, I want to bring something to the table. That's not just hot trade. I know it's tough because it's so hard for you because you're just labeled hot trade all the time. But I was like not even labeled hot trade. It's just because I just only ever want to talk. So that's why like videos. It's like not even showing my body. But then like I'll post the like the you know, the grid post and it's like, well, no, I'll post that. But TikTok people don't even know what it look like. Right. You know, so like maybe I'll start posting a few dance videos with the cake with the cake clapping. Yeah. Why not? I don't I literally don't see why not. I don't see like I'm getting to a point where I'm like, why wouldn't you do that? That's actually such a really good point. You know what they mean? It actually was brought up by Ross about two weeks ago. He said you should start doing dances. He verbatim on the couch. I remember you two were on the couch. I was standing. I think I probably just smoked a little bit. And it was during Kat's eye and I was like doing a little dance and he was like, you should start posting TikTok dance. And then I was like, okay, Ross. I really do believe you. Maybe clock that tea. He's a very good manager like that. He really does push people to do things. Yeah. And especially now that I have a choreographer on the books. Yeah. Oh my God. Would I rebrand it if it would never be easy? Like you have to have a choreographer. It has to go from zero to 100. Yeah. It's like, I can't just have fun. It has to be like I or in pop star Academy. Yeah. Because I do believe if I was in pop star Academy, I would have made the group. I like I've never seen that show. But from what you've told me about it, I can only assume you would have made the group. I also really do assume like if you were given that opportunity at any point in your life, you would have made any group. Like if you could just be a pop star, it would not be, it wouldn't be a real challenge. No. Honestly, it wouldn't be challenging for you to be a pop star. I think it's exactly how I have always operated in my life. As a pop star. My schedules are just like from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to see. Yes. And then constantly running around. Oh my God. And can you imagine like it's required? Like your team is like, you have to be at the gym for two and a half hours. And then like afterwards, like your assistants, like, here's your smoothie, here's your protein shake, and then here's your breakfast. Like and everything is planned for you. And you're just getting shuttled from one space to another to sell things. All I want is for someone that's helping to be at the gym for two and a half hours. And for it to be okay. Because a lot of the times I am at the gym for two hours. And I'm just thinking I'm like, it's just so sad to even say, I'm almost sick to my stomach. I must feel guilt about my gym for two hours. And I can't enjoy anything. That's what I'm saying. You have to be a pop star. I think your whole life would be better if you were a pop star. I genuinely have always wanted to be one. I think that like it is just who said that your 30s are too late for you to be a pop star. I don't know why that would be the case. Like I'm so ready to train like I am a pop star. Like and it's just again, it's not even about like I think it's going to be hard work. Like don't get me wrong. Oh Joe. I'm going to be free you. It's actually an alignment of your work ethic and your effort. Like you won't necessarily have to work any harder than you already do to be a pop star. Because you are working like you are a pop star. And think about how refreshing it will be. It's like I'm going to be a pop star. But then like I also want to do like a quick little stand up bit in the middle of it. Yeah. Well you'll have a Andrew. You're a perfectly trained for this job because that's your crowd work. You're going to finish this song and then you're going to start cracking people up on stage. I am going. People are going to start crying. Oh my god. That's just kind of through. You're only guitar. Do you think? Oh, ah. Foddy suits. So I don't know where I want to go with my pop. Like because I can see a leotard in body suit because I'm only assuming it's going to be kind of like a Cirque du Soleil. Yeah. Right. You're going to be like pink. I'm going to be like doing. You're doing so. You're doing so. I still want to be perceived as dealtrad as we said from like the TikTok videos. It's going to be really tough. So I think there needs to be a fine line between like what I'm wearing because what I do appreciate about like a bad bunny. It's like he is genuinely so hot. And sue me for saying I want that like to be just like so hot. So like that is where I can see myself going with with pop but like the dance is not going to be DL and the comedy. And you're kind of in like a very like uniquely tailored suit with the ass out. Oh like chop. Like a assless chop kind of dress. That would be kind of crazy for you. I think I can see that too. A for sure. Like it's a takeaway. It's a reveal. Oh, okay. Yeah. That's what the pop is going to be and it's going to be like little draggy in a way. Well, it's a carpenter. She's track me. She is. And she's she's not really. She's not really. They love it. Yeah. Just tear away. So yeah, all those pop girls have girl like days on their team that do stuff for drag queens. Like it's all becoming it is just becoming the same ecosystem. Right. So like you can see a pop girl performing in something that was made by a person that makes something for like. Yeah, I think that I could I can get into I can get into some drag. We'll be Jim Terri ways. I don't know what I'm going to do with my hair yet. I think I just keep it. And then the pop the songs will just come. The songs will just come. That's like that is the least of my worries. Like you'll just find a songwriter like you'll write them as well, but like you'll find a song like a collaborator. It's going to be more of you about that. Like I I can find a collaborator. I will help with the lyrics. That's the last thing that you're going to need to be a pop star. You're going to need to be a pop star. I do have so many stories that I could tell you a song. And then when the vocals hit, you're made to be a pop star. And I tell the story of Sakma and Dick with your ass.
through so much. - Through pop. - People are gonna feel seen beyond belief. - Sock my dick with your ass. (laughing) - It actually just becomes like, I am doing a ruse call. - Yeah. (laughing) - So yeah, that is really exciting to look forward to. - Oh, that takes so long. - And yeah, I guess more all the story is maybe I will start doing DL trade dances on TikTok. ♪ Good children ♪ - That was nice. - Really, really, that was a nice one. (laughing) - Oh, God. - New with you. - What's new with me? Just a lot of good things coming my way, a lot of change, a lot of exciting next steps. But we don't need to get into all of that today, that's gonna be for future episodes. But yeah, overall I can just control how I feel in this moment and that is genuinely good. - That's amazing. That's honestly, I'm gonna say shocking. - Yeah, it's shocking. - That's pretty surprising given the circumstances, which are not related to the podcast. Given the circumstances of just day to day life, it's pretty surprising to hear you say you're good. Day to day life for me lately has been just that of resiliency. - It's very resilient. - And that of just keeping your chin up. That is something, can we actually walk through? - Yeah, let's do that. - When did you learn how to do that? Because you have faced obstacle, grief and strife like no other. And you really do remain the most positive person I've ever met. - Yeah, well, so how do I allow that to happen? Let's think. And I would almost add rejection in there. - Yeah, you face rejection a lot. - I think I would. - I face rejection. I'd say every week, every other week. (laughing) Sometimes. - But it seems to all like be okay. - Yeah. - You always kind of find the way to make it okay. - How? - It's okay, not to be okay. You know the Tory Kelly song. - No, I saw it. - We don't know that Tory Kelly. - It's hard to follow your heart. - Now it's not this thing to be a pop star. - Seeing is believing. Okay, so how do I, how do I, - Now that sounded familiar. - Yeah, dreaming is achieving. - Yeah, yeah. - How do I do it? I think that what I recognize is a lot of the times when things are thrown my way. Even if I'm not immediately thinking it, I do believe the foundation that I have sent for myself with my friends, with my family, with the things that are going on in my life are genuinely good. So I do cling onto those things to allow me to face the rejection straight on and hang on. - You definitely do that. - And I mean, like we can take it there because again, when it, whether that comes to dating, first dates, dates for multiple things, people saying they wanna be my friend, you know the whole thing, they throw it in my face. There must be 90, there must be a hundred people in this room who say no. - Yes. - But no, that's not true. - No, click on it. - And you know what? - Energy isn't ever something that I've ever had to worry about. - And what does that mean? - By that I mean. - I keep going. - I could keep going. I really don't think I would drop. Sometimes I can clock and say, I need to give myself a siesta or a meat and take a nap. But for the most part, I really don't complain about my day to day. - You really don't. - That was just sucking me dry. - Okay. - I'm just being lately and being sucked dry. - And not in the way you wish you were. - And not in the way I wish I was. One thing Salton's draw does that I have come out many times against on this podcast is samples. Salton's draw has a big sign in every shop that says, we encourage you to try every single flavor. (sighing) And that's a problem because the lines become extruding. I was sitting, I was standing in a Salton's draw line for 20 minutes. The other night, 20 minutes is a little bit absurd when you really think about it for a scoop of ice cream, for one scoop of ice cream. And it's no fault of the employees. - No. - It's the fault of the model of the business model. But I will say this. - Yeah. - I will say this. - Say it 'cause I have something to say about it. - In this particular instance, I did not try any because I knew I wanted peanut butter and jelly pound cake, but there have been times in Culver City, California. - 100% - At first time in my life, I asked for a flavor because they were creating a welcoming space for it. - Of course. - They said we want you to try a flavor. But I would, I mean, I would choose a salt and straw any day over a Hershey's, no offense. - I know, it's horrible. - Like just like I would choose a Tony's chocolate lonely over a Hershey chocolate bar any day. - And I will still, I would still love to go to Hershey Park. - But that is the thing. I think that just because you're choosing something over, like Hershey to me is. - Hershey is to me America. - Hershey to me is there. - It has its problems. - Right. - But there's a dream. - Oh, there's always that dream. - And I feel very similar to like to like certain, like even like musical artists or people that have become, like in your life, there are people. - Who is the Hershey abusive? - Like I don't even want to say who by Hershey abuse against 'cause I'm like, oh, it's a Katy Perry. - No, so actually that would be a really good option for the Hershey music. Yes, because I was gonna say Taylor Swift. - That's crazy. - And the only reason I was gonna say this is because through thick and thin, I will always support Hershey. I mean, regardless, I mean, I'm sure there's things that have happened and slave labor, and child labor and like those things are acknowledged here. - They're not a dollar's share, but not by the company. - Allegedly, I don't know actually, but it's definitely, they're coming up with a Hershey biopic called Hershey, you're kidding. - About the founders of Hershey. - Okay, I need to do my research here. - Yeah, I don't think Hershey's necessarily an ethical company. - I wouldn't say that they're necessarily, if that's what it turns to America. - If I'm like, there's still at the end of the day, there's a core dream. - So you like, that's where, that's where, okay, I can take it back from Taylor Swift, but with the Katy Perry. - But it's a Katy Perry, but regardless of it was her, Katy or Taylor, for me, the impact that they had on my childhood. - The impact that it had on my childhood. And I have been with them through thick and thin, and but then I also, at the same exact time, I'm like, yeah, I don't really support what they're doing right now, but at the same time, I might sometimes throw on Vast Friday night, and so,
I still enjoy myself. - Right. - Just like when I would walk through that Hershey's ice cream and say, "I'll take the play-doh, and I'll walk right out and I'll still enjoy myself." It's not something that I find myself often going towards, but it will always be a part of me. - Yeah. - By Katy Perry. - Yeah. - It is Katy Perry. There we go. - It will always be a part of me. Katy Perry is America, is Hershey's chocolate. - Yeah. - That is the trifecta right there. - That is a really, really beautiful way to look at it. - And like, just like Hershey's chocolate, Katy Perry sometimes too much, sometimes too much. - I would say sometimes too much, and I would honestly say like, no, I was almost gonna go into the route of exclusionary, but the only reason I said that was because of the Hershey's jersey park. - I was gonna say the twizzlers, the high requirements. - The high requirements, but the last, I get in the last time I went there. - Oh, no fit. - Don't fit. - We don't fit at Hershey Park. - And that's okay, I'd love to go back. I would really love to go back. I don't know, there's something about that thick shake they have there. That's the only reason I wanna go back. - That chocolate shake. - That chocolate shake, it's almost too rich. - It's too rich. - It's almost too rich. I really, I gotta get my hands on that again, in that cup that plastic cup it comes in. - And I really do appreciate any place in life that just pumps out smells. - Yes. - And because like, and you're capitalizing on people who lack a sense of control, but who love their senses. - You don't think so. Oh, I got what you're saying, that you're gonna eat. - Like, the control is around eating or control around what? - Because so what happens is, let's say I'm walking past an anian's. - Oh, you smell it. - Yeah. - And I smell it. That's amazing marketing already. You don't even have to do an ad. I'm already so turning my head, getting whiplash and thinking to myself, I need that anian's. - Yeah. - And it's on me, the next step is on me. - Right. - Do you choose self control, or do you let yourself go into that shop and experience joy? So there's two different options to look at that. And sometimes I am experiencing joy, but sometimes I have a little bit of self control. Oh my God, she genuinely is Hershey. Katy Perry is Hershey. Thinking about the California Dream store, was there not a scent of cotton candy in the space? - Oh my God, she was pumping cotton candy into the arenas. - I am actually of chills, no, my God, I'll never. - Oh my God, that was a main selling point to go to the teenage dream store, was to smell the cotton candy. - She is a genius. - She is wicked. - She's wicked, but sometimes the wicked which she wants to kill us all. - Uh huh. She wants to kill us all. - Yeah. - She wants to kill us all. - Katy, they have Perry. Catherine Hudson. - Catherine Hudson. - She is just something else. - Yeah, she really is. - But I don't even know how we got from Salt and Strata Katy Perry, but that's Hershey's. - The beauty she's got involved. - Hershey's did get involved. - I don't know how we got to Salt and Strata. - I actually couldn't even tell you. - I brought up a milkshake randomly. - Yeah. - I haven't, I know. - Oh, you're being shaken up. - By the universe. - Right, yes. - I haven't had a milkshake in just years. - Something I'd love to do with you and I know we will do it this summer, especially in June when we're together. I really need to go to Diner by the sea. - I would love to do a nostalgia tour. - A little trip to Diner by the sea. Drink our milkshakes by the water while the sun sets. Like, oh my god. - I would love to do that. I also like, why do I want to suddenly, I don't need to take this onto a road trip. Why am I always trying to get it? - Always your road trip. - But I'm just kind of like you guys, what's your Diner by the sea? - Oh wow. - You know, like I travel across America. - I kind of travel across America. Diner drives in Dines, but it's just called Diner by the sea. - So for those of you who don't know, Diner by the sea is a, it's a Diner in Long Beach, Long Island that in 2012, 2013, as the rise of like black top milkshake started hitting the market. And as the rise of Instagram was popping off, they were just making milkshakes with a bunch of different colored syrups in them to kind of like catch your eye. And they were going viral on Long Island for being like something to post to Instagram. So me and Andrew made plenty, plenty a trip to Diner by the sea between junior year and senior year of high school. More than I can even count, more milkshakes than a person should ever have in their entire lifetime. We had in those 12 months. But you wanna see, I'm sure there were hundreds of these sort of establishments across the world. Or like you go global. - Or the places that people go to that are like, you're hidden gem. Like you're your place that you go for a little spark of joy. You get in the car, you drive, you're like, we're getting this unicorn milkshake supreme from whatever, like the cap and crunch milkshake. Every single time I would have it, projectile. (laughing) It was so, and like that is the problem with my digestion, it's just some in general. But like at the time it was like, - Worth it. - It was so worth it going down. Like you need to care about what it was going like going out. - And it's wretched. - What's wrong? - That is how I operated my entire life. And that's why I also feel like back to my point from before about resiliency. That is actually the foundation. Because if you can live your day to day since you were a child, just always genuinely feeling sick and in zoring what food throws your way, you can handle any piece of news like it's a fucking brush it off your damn shoulders. - It's kind of crazy. Like as you're saying that I'm really considering you from a stranger's POV for just one second. And what you just said is you grew up chronically ill. - Yes. - And you have been dealing with that your entire life. - Yes. - You know what they mean? - I know what you mean. - You know what they're doing. - I mean you're having every single day as a child feeling sick and enduring it. Like you can do anything. Like that is not normal. - That is. - It is really not normal. - It's really unfortunate. It was not, it was not normal. And I don't think any piece of my life has been. And I think that is something that I've learned to accept. And I think that is the beauty of life. - But accepting it is just what's interesting. It's like is it something that requires acceptance? - It isn't required. - Medical attention. - Yes. - Interference. - I would say intervention. - I would say interference and intervention. Absolutely. But as we've talked about on another episode about Saturn's returns, maybe once my Saturn fully does return, that acceptance phase will then turn into intervention. Because I do believe something needs to happen and there might need to be a tie down moment. Something might need to tie me down. (laughing) - Why? - And say, tie me down and smack me in the face and say, these are the things you can no longer have. (laughing) And for your own personal well-being. - But it makes me so sad to think about you like that. - No, and that's the worst part. It's like if I'm choosing this one life or-- - Yeah, you chose it. - I chose it. I was born into this life and I then get the option to be like, oh, I'm gonna be normal and I can have that chicken parmesan. I want the chicken parmesan. - Right, and I don't want to live in harmony. - But they're gonna tell me, you can't have that. - And that's the problem. I don't wanna live in that world. Either that world is honestly scary. - It's scary. - It's dark. - It feels like I'm living in clover field and I do not want that, I do not want to feel like that dawn is near. - Yeah. - I need to experience everything as it comes towards me. - Every time. - That being said, I don't know what that it does to affect life going forward. - Right, like long-term hell. - But at the same exact time, I think what I'm recognizing is life now is what matters to me. And if I can seize these days and enjoy myself while I have two feet standing on this earth, I'm very, very happy. And unfortunately, if the chicken parmesan is gonna clock me out in about 10 years, I really love that chicken parmesan and I do wanna go back to car mines. So. - I would really like to know. - Joe, I need it so soon. I need it so soon. - I would really like for like maybe like one of the final weekends in May. - 100% go to car mines. - Like I'm almost like let's get a reservation on the books. - I'm really serious. - Like I'm actually just spark something in. - We are gonna need to invite maybe two to three others just so we can-- - No, I think it's just us. I think we get two dishes. - I know, but that's always-- - We get the chicken parmesan and we get a pasta dish and we get a salad and we get a dessert. - No, because I, the only reason I would ever end up is for a zucchini. - And then suddenly it's too much. - Okay, so we get the zucchini, we get a chicken dish, we get a pasta dish, that's it. And we get a salad. I'm sorry, that's fine. - Joe, but you need the thing-- - We bring most of it home. We bring most of it home. - I guess you are right. Because then there was the Titanic. Not that I need that. - I can't be doing all that. - But I mean this bill's gonna be fudge 300 bucks. - It's worth it. - It's worth it. - For those of you who have never been to car mines, I think we might.
must have talked to we have to certainly discuss this had to be years ago. If you are going to a Broadway show and you are with 6200 600 200 others, you need to preplan your trip to car mines. Car mines has always been a long standing establishment. No shade to sardis sardis is just it's it's it's going in the dumps and that's said sardis dumps. Why are you saying that? It's just lost. It's possess. Oh, we were there for that event and it wasn't that amazing. No, it's it's it's losing it's it's possess because I think sardis and car mines had a very similar impact because they're both family style, but but but car mines it is just you sometimes can't even get a seat. Yeah, and the thing is it is a tourist destination. Like it is a tourist trap. Yeah, but it's like when you're I wouldn't say that find the word trap when it's a place that you want to go to willingly and like you love it's like a tourist kingdom. It's like a place. It's the best of both worlds. Yeah, you can go here as a tourist and it's like a tourist thing to do. Yeah, but it is incredible food incredible food in in I'm fucking serious about that. Like it is amazing food and the portions are disgusting. The portion is disgusting because they're family style, but I have the same exact time. The family style for the price. It's phenomenal. It's crazy. It'll be like $45 for a thing of chicken parm or penny avocado, but it would serve like six people. You could also order half trays. Oh, we're going to have to do the half trays. Yes, I've gone with my mom and like there's no way where we got that much food. Like we got half trays of everything. That's so smart. Yeah. Oh, I'm going Joe. I need to that's actually. I almost want that. Yeah, that's almost my birthday. That's kind of your birthday vibe. I kind of like want carmines for my birthday dinner. You guys, oh my god. And it's a return to form because they might have your birthday carmines. I never felt so cool. Birthday carmines getting in a getting in a limo. Yeah. Carmines. The upper left. On the upper. Yeah. That was just it's just beauty. Wow. And to be there 12 years later and eating the same food and the fried zucchini, the thinnest zucchini you've ever had. So thin. So so thin. So amazing. People incredible red sauce. It's just like the best restaurant. It's the best restaurant. It's the best restaurant in New York City. And I think if anyone that you know personally and if you are a hater of carmines, it's just genuinely look inward and look at yourself. I got it. I'm okay with someone hating it because that means one less person to compete with. I agree. And also like yeah, there are mom and pop shops out there. I mean carmen started that way as well. I don't know if it did. I actually think we did the research and carmines low key. Like the first carmines was in Las Vegas. Like I think it's always been low key. Like franchise boots. And you know what? Like there are so many franchises out there that are fucking trash, disgusting, loser traps. And carmines is not one of them. I can name about 10 other loser traps that you shouldn't step foot into. But carmines is not that. Oh carmine. I carmine my carmine. I would love to meet a carmine. And your husband's name is carmine. I've really been thinking about that lately. I'm like, is my husband just going to be Italian? Yeah. But you can see me within Italian man. Probably name carmine. Yeah. You think it's going to be sweet? I think your husband is right now. He's 20. But it's 20 what? He lives at home. No, he's I'm gonna say he is probably he might be our age or a little bit younger. Okay. I do believe he is incredibly close with his mother. Yeah. I do believe he goes to the gym two hours a day. Yeah. I do believe it's GTL for him. Like I do believe he is like Jersey Shore Boots. Okay. To be from Jersey. Okay. He could be for I believe he's from Jersey. Okay. I believe he's from Jersey and I believe he I'm seeing six but I'm seeing six foot one. Okay. I'm seeing six foot one. I'm seeing he doesn't get he was never wants to get a tattoo. Re never wants to get a tattoo because he's such a mama's boy. He doesn't want to upset his mother. And he's not a mama's boy in like a scary way. Like it's like he just like has an amazing gay relationship with his mom. Can I ask you something about his actual differences? Yeah. Is he okay with with things near his whole? Fuck. Yes. Okay. Because he cooks a lot. He cooks a lot. He cooks a lot. And he's heavy handed with the salt. He's heavy handed with the salt in the garlic. And he's he's not skinny. I know shade. I will never body shame. Thank you. He's not skinny. He like knows his way around three to four pizzas license on a good night. You know what I mean? And he could still do ice cream after. He could still do ice cream after. And I don't want some money who's going to complain about it. No, he doesn't. He's like babe. All right. We're going in the gym tomorrow for three hours. Yeah. Right. Okay. Yeah. We got leg day. Yes. Oh my god. It's just the little things. Here's the one catch. I don't think he like he like lives in New Jersey with his mom. He's not physically present in New York City. But he drives. He has a very good like day job. Incredibly well. I think he almost works in sanitation. Oh wow. Yeah. Amazing. So his days his nights are always free. But he has to sleep early. Okay. And he as long as he's not putting that on me. Like as long as he's not like just so tired all the time. He's a lot of energy. Okay. And he um yeah. He's willing to put the effort into like drive in to see you and then pick you up and you like guys go somewhere. He's like getting a macar babe. Yeah. And he has like a nice car. He like puts a lot of effort into he car. He's like he's like holding my leg when he's like driving. So he like does have a bit of like straight tendency is which is always worrisome. But they're not worrisome because he is like so gay. Thank god. Because like and I think his mother's very okay with it. Oh his mom. It's her. No. His mom's best friend is a gay guy. Right. She grew up her best friend since childhood is a gay man. Right. So she like literally it's not a question. Yes. And she's always been she's like I was so nervous. He was going to end up straight. That's actually such a relief. And that's why he's not in contact with his father. Oh. And he doesn't ever want to be in contact with his father. And that's where I lean into like is there going to be daddy play happening now? Well, it doesn't always have to be that way. Because I mean like we can figure it out. We can't I guess we can talk about that. I don't mean. Why are you jumping straight to that? Because daddy problems. He has a daddy issue. He don't know he has a daddy issue. But he just actually he he said I'm going to go no contact with my dad. Okay. And he's working on himself. Okay. That's an alcoholic. He runs in the family. He doesn't really drink that much. And that's okay with me. I'm down for a no drink. He used to party. He used to college. Like he like he used to party. No, but he was like a big drinker. Like he was a huge binge drinker. And like it was like a problem. Like. And then he got serious. And now he's now he has like a beer or two. But he doesn't just don't do anything beyond that. I think and correct me if I'm wrong. And maybe I am completely wrong. Uh-huh. He's not afraid to say he listens to Imagine Dragons. And secondly, I think that he would say babe, what are you doing this weekend? Would you want to go to this rave? He wants to go to a rave, you think? I could see him going to or like an EDME type. Because he is like when I he has to go to sleep so early for his job. Like when he does have nights off, he does want to really lean into it. But he doesn't even drink. He doesn't drink. He doesn't do drugs. He like has one drink at the rate. If he just likes to dance. He just wants to dance. Yeah. That's my man. They're safety and numbers. Yeah. And like, again, he has an amazing body, but he doesn't even give a fuck. Like he's like, like, keep that shirt on. Yes. He's like, that's one thing like you do. Like, you want him to dress cuter than he does. But it's okay. But that's okay because I do believe like that's something that you can change a person. I can have a little bit of influence. And he's very receptive. He's very receptive. Yes. Again, because he's a mama's boy. Because he's a mama's boy. And she's going to say, thanks for dressing my sons. Yes. Oh, Andrew, you picked this one out. It's so nice. It's so nice. Oh, I love this one. So I can. And she's like, Carmine's been in the in the kitchen all day. And she here's one thing about her every May. She does not miss that trip to Permuda. She says you have to come this year. You have to come with us. So you and Gianni, the gay friends are all going to Permuda. I have chill. Oh my god. [LAUGHTER]
- And you know her, she is like, you were not paying for her thing on this trip. Like do not even think about it. Just smack your hand down. - She's gonna smack my hand. - But if you take a card out, she's like, what are you doing? What are you doing? - Oh my god. - Oh my god. - Please, please, please stop. - I don't know if her name is Lindsay. I think it's more of like, what's the mother's name? - It could be anything. Carmella. - Oh she's full of Carmine. (laughing) Carmella and Carmine. - Carmella and Carmine and Gianni. - And Gianni, I really think I can see that life for me. There are so many lives that I believe I could live. - I know, if it's back to the future. - And it's back to the fig tree. And I really believe, regardless of who comes into my life, I can make it a Carmine situation regardless. But I do believe you are right, and he is new Jersey. - He's a new Jersey. - So how do I go about meeting my man in the suburbs of New Jersey? - As your sidekick told you, it's gonna happen where you least expect it. - And because, oh my god, it's because he cooks. - He cooks. - So I do believe if I'm in, I don't know, what's a part of New Jersey that he probably would be in. Don't even really know New Jersey like this. Let's just kind of throw it out there and say, - Morristown. - Morristown, New Jersey. - Pretty in the middle of it. - That was just no idea. - I just had a vision of his friend group, and that's gonna be a problem for you guys. - It's an entirely straight man. - Yeah, it was just about to say it is. - It's entirely straight man. - So like he does not know about gay culture. And it's gonna, it's listen, it's not, it's not like a road, it's on a roadblock. It's just a hurdle. It's an obstacle for you to get through with him. - And I don't, but I don't believe he is judgeable. He's never once met a trans person. Fuck. - Okay. - And do you know what? Like that is a huge fuck moment, but at the same time, I'm not worried because I'm going to introduce him to many. And he, since he is like such a loving soul because he's been raised by such a gorgeous mother, he is so affirming and caring that he is going to maybe ask questions. - Maybe ask the questions that you wish he wouldn't have asked. - 100%. - Yeah, but it's always out of the goodness of learning. - It's kinda gonna be like a when did you know? - Yeah. - And that one for me, like sure, like tell your story. I think he's, he loves to hear a story. That's why he's with me. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - 'Cause I'm a storyteller. - Yes. - I think he's a Sagittarius. I think he's a Sagittarius. - Okay. - I don't know what that means with them. - Honestly, neither do I, but I just think he's a Sagittarius. And I think he, it's just gonna take some getting used to on both ends. 'Cause you're gonna have to get used to it. - When Sagittarius. - Sagittarius is like, I think it's like my dad, so it's like no, member. - Okay. - I can see that. I think I couldn't tell you for sure if I'm being honest. - This is where, this is the hard thing about an Italian. What happens on a new Christmas Eve? - Yeah, 'cause it's my mom's birthday. - Family small. Family small. - So mom just comes over. - It's Carmella, Gianna. It's Carmella, Gianni and Carmine. - They just come right over. - They're very happy to come over. - Oh, they're gonna love it. And they're gonna, and you know Carmella's gonna be like, "Carol, this is Justin and the amazing event. "Happy birthday, yes." My little Carmine made this, this, this, this, this, this green jelly salad. - He's gonna be filling the knollies with you. Oh my God, you're finally gonna have some of that help. You bake the cookies. - Stop, he's gonna wanna bake cookies with you. - He's gonna make the cookies with you. - This whole, this whole like fantasy that we're creating is just genuinely mental illness. And like we are so sick as I am getting to a point of believing it and it's genuinely bringing me peace and I don't know where to go from here. - No, it's tough. Like I missed Carmine already. - I literally missed Carmine. Like it's just genuinely like, I don't know. - What's your mouth? - And Carmine, if you are listening or if your name is not Carmine and you feel like you fit the qualifications of six one, Mama's boy, New Jersey or adjacent. - Every listener, besides all the girls. - Probably so true. - I will say one thing, Carmine, they do have one cousin set. They like, so there is another family, but they don't, they do Christensen but the other side of the family. - Okay, good. - But Carmine has a cousin, Juliana. - Love her. - She is like 22. And she's the missing link here. So Juliana's listening right now. Juliana's listening right now and she is saying, holy shit, they're talking about Carmine. - Too late. - Cousin Carmine. So Juliana, I know you're listening. I know you have a gay memory who is trade and works a trade job. I know that. I know you're listening. I know you have an aunt who went through a messy divorce in the 2000s. - Yes. - I know that you know Carmine deserves a man like Andrew and I know you know Aaron Drew deserves a man like Carmine. It's up to you now. Juliana listening at home to make this happen. - Yeah. - And I know you can. - I know you can. You can put in some work here and I'm willing to also like travel. Like I will drive. I'll get a car. - You don't need to ask one. - You want to handle that for you. - He's like, why would you get a car? I have a car. - Oh my God. I can't even believe this. It's all happening so fast. - And Carmella grew up in Green Point. - Green Point? - Yeah. - Wow. - Yeah. - She grew up in Green Point. - And she's gonna of course, it's the classic very different green. - It's different name. - That's not the Bushwick I knew. - Yeah. - Oh my God. You go through that Bushwick. You were big in it out. - Yeah. - That's what Carmella is saying. - That is what Carmella is saying. - Yeah. - Oh, that's, she's gonna take me to the Monty's. - Yes. - Yes. - Oh my God. - It's really nice. - It's gonna be really nice. - I just think it's really, really, really nice. And I'm really excited for my future now. Like it genuinely feels like there's a layer of one less thing to worry about. - Oh my God. It just feels so good to know that Carmella is out there. - And he's waiting. - And he's waiting and he's feeling very similarly. - I'll tell you one thing. He had a boyfriend. He had one boyfriend many years ago. - Right. He broke up with him. You know why? Racism. The boyfriend was racist. - Oh, okay. - That just shows his character. - He said I, once he said that I never wanted to look at him again. - Good. Yeah. - Good. And I'm really afraid that that boyfriend, he's still in town. - He's still in town and is showing up. And he's a fucking loser. - Yeah. - He is a freaking stoonot. - Yes. And I'll say it to his face. - Yeah. - Okay. Okay. - So don't even try me. - It's Jersey. It's Staten Island. And that's your only two options. - I think it's Jersey or Staten Island is right. - So Julie on that get to work and call in. Or just text Andrew. DM Andrew. - DM me and say, and that's true. - And that's true. - He doesn't have an Instagram account. So like you'll have to like screenshot a family photo from two years ago and say use your imagination. But like, you know what to do. That goes for anybody out there actually. If you feel like you have somebody for me, DM me. - But I want to, but guys set some standards here. Set some standards here. Think about be realistic. Be realistic. I'm not talking about a static. I'm not talking about anything to do with like physical appearance, like job. I'm saying, do they live in a communicable distance from us? - Yeah. - Will they make a good partner for Andrew, right? Do they have what it takes to step up to the plate? - Would they be willing to relocate to the Hudson and Jason area? - In five years. - In five years. Will they want, and again, I'm not trying to be put in contact with someone who's trying to clap these cheeks. - No. - That's been, that was my 20s. - Yeah. - Listen, I'm looking for something with substance here. So if you feel like you know a man that could make me ball, that's genuinely, that's all that I really need. Okay. - And remember, in this situation, they are six foot one and about like 200 plus pounds. - And just because you're their cousin, you don't need to know what their sexual preferences are, but I would prefer, if you didn't even got into that. - No, but I did ask, or would I really answer that? - And you said, I think, you said he would. - Okay. - But I will say here, he would, he'd be willing to, he'd be willing to bottom for the first time. - Okay. - That's actually all I wanna hear. Like, it's okay if I swing more one way than the other, but as long as you are willing to try for me, (humming) and try everything like Shakira once said, that's genuinely all that I need. - But, - I don't do well with stricktons.
anything, okay? We're cutting that shit out. Car mine. - The chicken phone call? - Yeah. (bell ringing) - Hi boys, I love you so much. First of all, this is not a question, but rather an update. You guys answered one of my questions probably about two years ago, and basically I was asking whether I should stay with my boyfriend or leave for a job in a different city. Long story short, I stayed for my boyfriend that did not work out. And now, two years later, I've moved to another city for a job, and I just wanted to say that I love it so much, and I'll never forget you guys referencing Emily and Paris my first time around, and even two years later, when I was trying to make the decision, all over again, even with a sound of a boyfriend, I thought of you guys and your positivity, and it helped me. So there's anyone listening that could be inspired. I just wanted to share how the boys changed my life, and if not, I just want you guys listening to know that you guys seriously inspire me to live my dreams, live my truth loudly, not be afraid of what people are saying or being cringed or any of that, and I'm just grateful. So I hope you guys have a great day, and yeah, I was just moved thinking about the banana farm. I can't wait for that show too. All right, love you guys. Bye. - Oh my god, that is so crazy. - Congratulations. - Congrats. - You can tell, I mean, you sound so happy. - Thank you. - That is crazy. I love the concept of an update. - Right. - That is so crazy to me. I loved that boy smell. I think it was exactly what everyone needed to hear. - Now I want to know what city. - I know. - Where are you? What's up? What are you doing? What's this newness feel like? - I'm so excited. - I'm so excited. - What we were saying, I don't know if it was last speaker, this speaker, not on camera at all. I think it was actually all the above. What's meant for you will never miss you. Like you wanted to move to that city or a new city, and you didn't, and you went through another period of your life. And now you finally got there. - Right. - It's like what really did you miss by doing that? Like you definitely have, like I said, break up. But what's meant for you will never miss you. I love that. Take the chance. You guys, if we could instill one lesson, one partial drop of wisdom in this Ascension podcast that we have about food, which is so crazy because that's all it's about. It's only about food. - It's only ever. - We can't resist the siren call of a Sunday. Do the thing you want to do. Do that thing that makes you sick. Do the thing that makes you want to die. Like it is, the feeling is never going to go away. Like the feeling of wanting that will never disappear. You might get better at distracting yourself from it, but there will be side effects from that. Like you will, you will, it'll catch up to you. What's meant for you will find you, even if you try running from it. So do the thing to that point. Don't be afraid of being crans. Don't be afraid of judgment from others. Who gives a fuck? Who really gives a fuck of somebody else? Things what you're doing isn't right. You know what's right for you. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do seriously. - Hi, Angel and Joe. My name is Maryl. I just spoke with the past. I'm calling you from the wet face in Massachusetts. We all have our feelings about getting stuck living in the city. Don't wait. Anyway, I recently found out that I got into a very prestigious acting program in New York City and an actor as a training actor like my whole life and to minimize thought I'm going to be staying with family on Long Island while I'm doing this program. And maybe for example for a next city as soon as I possibly can. Like, you all have to for living on Long Island and commuting into the city Do you have a way to stay sane while doing that? What are the vibes? My plan is probably to get drunk with my aunt every day. But if you guys have like more insight, I would love that. Thank you so much. You like having the belly. - Wait, that's so exciting. You got into a prestigious acting program. - Congratulations. Congratulations. That's huge. And like whenever you're in something, let us know. We're right there with you. But notice, stay sane and commute into the city. Well, you were doing it. - I did it for a little bit. Were you sane? - I wasn't necessarily sane when I did it. But like my dad's been doing it for like four years. - Right. It's like decades upon decades of doing that commute. I don't know if it's acting school. Does that mean it starts in the fall? Probably. You will find plenty of ways to entertain yourself. I mean like you will find things to do after school. - Right. - Primarily like a little bit like finding friends and like going to a rooftop or like even just going to a park. I used to, I mean like I know I really hated taking the train every single day. But I love walking through that park every single day. There's like like listening to me. There's so much music and podcasts and media to consume on the train. But you will find ways to spend your time in the city. But also yeah, sure. Get drunk with your aunt every single day. That seems crazy. - And explore on island. A lot of things to do. - That's so true. There's especially in the fall you're going to those pumpkin patches. I mean, you're from Massachusetts. So I guess. - Go to Diner by the sea. - Go to Diner by the sea on Long Beach. We'll see you there. - We literally will. - Yeah. Wow. Well with that. - With that you guys, that's the end of this episode. - And it was such a beautiful episode. I'm so excited for Carmine. - Yes. - I'm so excited for the future. And it's going to be so good. I'm a pop star dating Carmine. - Wow. This was a long episode. - It was amazing. So with that being said, you guys, you know you can find us stay across all social media platforms at Good Children Pod. I'm on Instagram @AndromasGrela on TikTok @AndromasGrela. - I'm on Instagram @JoHedges and on TikTok @TheQuietJo. - And while we might be taking a hiatus from the podcast itself, you can always find us on Patreon. We are going to be posting weekly updates. The whole thing. We have an amazing community there of people that we will continue to foster all of our Good Children out there. And until next week. - Yeah, it's not goodbye yet. And also it's never going to be goodbye because there are some things already cooking up that I think you'll appreciate. - Cooking up. All right, we'll see you next week. (upbeat music)
