The podcast emphasizes that in modern life, people often prioritize countless superficial concerns, believing they matter, which leads to stress and suffering. Wisdom, however, reduces the number of things that truly matter, as seen in the contrast between youth and old age, or immaturity and maturity. The COVID-19 pandemic is used as an example of how excessive focus on a problem can create more issues than the problem itself, such as political pressures and extreme lockdowns. Similarly, society obsesses over brands, praise, and temporary gains, neglecting inner strength. True happiness is not dependent on external quantities like wealth or reputation, but on inner qualities like love, compassion, faith, and devotion. These qualities help unveil one's deeper Buddha nature. Even life experiences, such as sacrifice for children, force individuals to look beyond selfishness and discover a deeper level of self. Ultimately, what matters is recognizing who we truly are beyond the body and name, and cultivating sacred inner qualities that lead to lasting peace and liberation.
[Music] Welcome to the Roar of the Calkeys podcast by Kentrol Rinpoche. [Music] In this podcast you will learn about key concepts in the Zokden Dharma, Calachakra, and the Golden Age connected with the great Calkey kings of the Pureland of Shambhala. Kentrol Rinpoche is a John-on-Calachakra master of Tibetan Buddhism, spreading the teachings of Pureland of Shambhala to create a golden age of peace on our earth. In today's fast-paced lifestyle, many of us feel there is not enough time. We may be constantly busy, but are we actually focusing on what matters most? Rinpoche helps us see how important it is to identify what really matters, so we can prioritize our life effectively, unlocking a greater sense of ease and inner peace. [Music] So today's subject, water is really matters in our life that we have to think about. So that means there's only few things matters in our lives. The majority of the people on this earth, there's so many things they think are matters. So that's the main problem. So maybe when we are younger and getting older and older, more matters, more matters on the body. So when you are young and healthy, only few things matters on your body. When you are older and older, this matter or this matter or this matter or this matter or this matter. Think about that opposite. In the mind, who is wise, more and more wise, more and more mature, you have less and less matters. And as much as you immature, less wisdom, then more and more matters. So this matter, this matter, this matter, this matter bring you problems and suffering. And less matter, less matter means less suffering. But everybody has an idea if we know much more, which means if we know many types of problems, then we have the knowledge fixed all of them. So then we are better positioned. That's normal idea. But the reality is if you know more means our mind, you cannot explain. Or is it? 100 in, 100 in problems, our mind, not a lot of progress. But knowing all the problems more you know and then you have more problems. And I think the similar of this coronavirus. So this time we know there is a problem, this coronavirus, because I have no medicine and no vaccination. And transmit very fast. So then we create many many problems, more than the coronavirus. I think we exaggerated, that's why we have financial problems, everything. We blend this coronavirus. But the coronavirus also come from we knowing too much, too many food, too many things, too many options. We did too much, that's why maybe it came. But now we are making much more problems. So for instance, let's say my hometown, there is no one single person travel in China, because nobody speak Chinese. And no one single person in Chinese come in there because too cold. But they still stop in to shut up or shops, restaurants, everything. And you can not even visit your neighbor, your relative, your family, you cannot miss it. You are someone who visit it, they beat up, torture, torturing. So see, it is necessary. So it should be fun, you never go out of your town, at least stay in your town, because nobody, Chinese come in there and nobody went in China. So the virus cannot jump from Wuhan to my village, but if you go doing this. So why they do this? We know, the higher level of authorities say something, they have to do something. If they don't do, the only people cares, I lost job. If I don't do exactly, they said, if you don't do exactly, I will lose job. That's only they care. But authorities, they all have to do extremes because they have other reasons. Other reasons also, man made a problem. Political pressure, you know, many things. So then, bold down is not the just virus, but many other things connected. So yes, we are Australians, international, we cancel in, we stop in Chinese, we cancel in the flights, everything. Maybe you prevent a problem, but you never know you create problems. So you never know, which one is this? You know?
[M] So similarly, when we know many things, we are more paranoid. Because if you really research it in internet, the coronavirus how many people die, or usual sickness how many people die, a minute or a one day. Or one day, which one more? Or do other millions of deaths of condition, we are not worrying. Every day we just forgot. We are ignoring the matter. We are not mandatory about. Even cigarette, distance, even warning, picture on the drop of stereo. But one particular thing we focus on, then we go extreme. So this is not just this virus, I think all our lives like this, always. Something unnecessary, we make huge attention and huge matters. So somebody has a particular house, so I want to like that. In society, think about a cloth and fashion. Brand, same quality of cloth, one is very, very expensive, only you think in brand. Brand is because eco, because other people wear this and I wear this. So many things we pay attention like that way. All these things make us less happiness and more suffer. So for example, very easy example, children crying for very silly things. But we know this is silly, but we know this is children. Then you say, do you want to be yourself like the children, you say no. Why you say no because you know is foolish. And then 10 edge, so many matters. Too much this matter, oh this is really matters, obsessed things of our 10 edges. Then we are older, with or silly. But too late, you are already done. All these matters, when we look at the doubt, then oh not really matter, but the thought is matter. That's why we did. Similarly, you are more, more, more mature, more, more wise. Everything you thought is matter, things not really matter. You realize. This is about time, time tells you what is really matter is. But when you are already die, then all no matters. Whether you have build huge reputation, fame, fame, an incredible wealth, many children, whatever is not in the matters. We say, oh people remember me, oh then I have children, I just left for children, but all these things we just say, we excuse. Some people don't even realize, they think is matter. But when you exactly come to the dead, that time you really know is not matter. Say this, oh it's chaos, oh someone remembers me like this. If you are famous, if you are incredible, and even are dying, people remember me. What really matters, they remember you or not? You don't exist anymore, you don't remember anymore. You are not self, you never remember, even you are born, even you believe, you reincarnate, you are still, you don't remember. So what is matter? It's not you anymore. All of them is not matters. So these terms tell, what matters, what is not matter, is only depending on our limitation of perception. Similarly, the same term, the wise person and foolish person have the same situation. Why the person can deal with more, can deal, able to deal more? And the foolish people don't, why? Because only the reason. The wise person thinking, or doesn't really matter. Who is eating the meat or who only drinking the soup tomorrow? You think right now is big matter. But after you finish, doesn't matter. Same thing, only matters, you are fixed on that. It's the moment, only matters for you. But the next time you look back doesn't matter. The same thing, why the person think doesn't matter, and the foolish person thinks really matter. So that's why you know, usually we care so much, tense. Comfort and discomfort, we care so much. But only matters right now, right now is comfort and discomfort. Yes, I guess. But in a long term, if you are used to get discomfort used, then that means you have more chance to comfort. But if you have used it to order the comfort, then you have very little tolerance, so that means you have less chance to comfort. The only situation, sit with you forever, but that's not possible. So any time situation changes, you have discomfort used to solve, well you are okay, stay comfort. Gen. and the loser, if you never lose, and then one day lose, or all the time lose, even we think, even we are fixed on reality, we don't really know what is loser and what is, what you call, Gen. What is the winner and what is the loser, we don't really know exactly, but even we are fixed on loser and the winner. But the only matter is you think, and that time, but maybe the loser one is the winner in the long term. Why? Because the loser knows how to deal with loser. And the always winner, he doesn't know how to deal with loser. You definitely won't lose, because it's not instant permanent anyway, so when your one loser is more suffered than the other person lose 100 times. So they do what? Which one is the matter? Okay.
[M] The same thing, criticism, criticism, and press, even more than that. You criticism doesn't matter. Criticism means every criticism you have mirror to look at. So every criticism you have chance to improve. And the same time you can deal, you know how to deal with criticism. But press the word at the time, press create the 'pride', 'pride' before 'fare'. And if you are a little bit of criticism, if you do all the time press, you can't even know how to deal with. You become too fragile. That's the West happening. And the West obvious level everybody prays each other. But inside hash, nobody's love, nobody's close to you, nobody's, you know everybody's distant. But we're not focusing on this, we're focusing. Other things, we think this matters, or this matters. Half insurance, hurts the insurance, car insurance, this insurance, this insurance, insurance, nothing's insured, but you think it's insured. And you work so hard for this. Nothing's insured. What does it really matter is only something within yourself, your inner strength. That's the only matter. Everything else temporary. Everything else relative. Relativity. Relative benefits. Temporary benefits. So many angles were proved that the happiness is not dependent on these quantities. The quantities of gain, quantities of prayers, quantities of reclinations is not dependent on that. The whole world trapped in this, you know seeking for distance. Every single thing, think matters matters matters. Why you are in delusion? Because it matters right that time. Only temporary, very short time. Short time, you know the growth level of feeling does it matters. And that makes you think this is forever. You think this is forever. So that means, we have to understand, how you say, is weakness. Why is weakness? You depend on distance. You know, in the West, everybody like independent. Independent, right? Self-sufficient. But you're not self-sufficient. Because you think this I need, this I need, this, this, this, all of them is not yourself. But you try to I own them. You don't need on them. There is no ultimate honor on this. Can change anytime. Or sometimes useless. Even you are little accumulated but useless. What you really need on is your own Buddha quality. That's you really need. That's really you need, you know, you really need the another language. You really need recognize your own truth. Your own deeper level of the truth. So the positive we talk about is the deeper level of the truth is not bad. Or our problems in this foolish and everything we talk about on the surface. Why everybody chasing these superficial things? That's only temporary problem. That's a superficial problem. But why we stuck in a superficial whole life? The answer is we are stuck in this. The only reason why we stuck because we never look at in deeper level. And nobody telling you look at the deeper level. Or a little bit you heard, but too short time. Not in our freaking, what you call? Yes, freaking. Not in our, not in our continue. Not in our familiarization. Because we are so distracted by the skeletons. Why? Because because of the society. Everybody did this majority and we do that. So if we look at the children and then little bit older children, then we look at the teenage. Everybody we know. When we are little bit older or they are silly. Why silly? Because easy ones, the obvious level, they stuck their. They cannot look deeper. Why we see a little bit deeper? Why? Because we are so hurt. We are going through this. It's not we are better than them. It's a proof for us many times. You know? What the children care about, the teenage care about all these things is not really. We went through a lot. So that's why we realized little bit. But not enough more deeper. Why? Nobody shows. Because only everybody went through. But nobody said for real. If you want to know said for real, like Buddha. Buddha, he didn't get, he didn't get, he had to go through this. He has born as a prince and have everything, human have desire. Stereas very big questions. So what everybody happened eventually? He saw one, only one old man and he said, "Is everyone become like this only this person? Is my become like this also?" And then, "Oh my gosh, if they say yes, oh my gosh, they laugh at silly." But everybody, every day see old people, every D.C. six people. You know? Maybe you don't see every day dead people here, but you hear and they use. But we never realized why? We just stuck there. Stuck on the superficiality. Because bad habit. But what really matters? You have to know who you are, who you am I? This body, this name to somebody on the paper. Is this really me or I am something deeper? We have to see something deeper. We have to feel something deeper. That's why we need meditation, that's why we need to. We need a combination merit. That's why we need a generate love, compassion. Why? Not just, oh, I feel good. If I have love, if I build, be loved, I feel love, I feel good. Not only that reason. But if you really, you know, when we say love and compassion is something deeper quality, you know, something, something, how to call. How to say? Something holy, something, you know, sacred quality. So that's why you, when you have this sense, you have other chance, other realizations, everything you have chance. Not just, I love, also, I feel good. Not only that. You have other chance. You and well, other qualities. So that's why we say, oh, love and devotion. You know, even the, or different world, different part of world, before no contact in the past. Still, some people believe the God, the Devaang, and we need a devotion and a distraughtful faith for the God, the other say, the other say, oh, we need devotion for lama. Lama is a human being. So other, the other think, oh, these religions are terrible. We're shivering and human to human. And the love and the faith, devotion, everything to lama, and we believe in God. So we are the best, you know, best religion. And they are the worst, because they are shivering and human, and love, devotion, everything to human. But, hello, is not the matters of you call God, or you call lama, or you call something else. But the matter is, this quality of love and the faith and devotion, these matters, these matters to you, not the God, not the lama. These matters for yourself. So you see, a different part of world, have different name and different object of worship, but what the quality they realize, they equally realize, it is faith, it is love, it is compassion, it is devotion. So devotion means, give, without condition, dedication, no condition, 100% conviction. Faith means no doubt. Love means, again give, you want the best, not for yourself. Compassion means, you know, a confidant, braveness, no scared, no need to say, is it it? You know, all of them is matters, only this matters. So that's why, even you are one person, how matters we know, how different in our lives, even you have one person, you trust, 100%, it matters, and your life so much. But if we understand something universal, you know, the one is, when we say, "Oh, I love all the Sanchin beings," or we say, "I love the universe," or, "I love the One is," is same thing. "I love the Buddha nature," or, "I love the God," is same thing. Is same thing. If you want Agu, if you make, you know, very rigid, or judgmental, then it's very different. You know, the God, "Okay, what is God?" or, "Lama is obvious, this person," you know, like that kind of. But if you don't judge this way, look at the deep liver, and then say, "Then is much." What is the philosophy says? What is the "you went through"? Experience is much so. So that's what I'm saying. Who has slick obscurations of your Buddha nature? We have to suffer, we have to go through. Then we realize, small by small. But who has thin obscurations? Not too many in thick negative karmas. You don't need to go through. You realize like Buddha. You realize. You, you, you know, you're mind to go far away. And you understand, you go mind to go deeper. You mind to go higher. You might go all ten directions, see everywhere. But if it's a little bit thick, then we have to go through. That's why we say, "Oh, somebody has children." Then become much better. But before children, very, very selfish. Very, very selfish, but have children. And then becomes no better. What does mean? You went through the suffer of the look and after children. That's why you become a little bit better person. Why, why you suffer look out children? Because look out children, you have to sacrifice yourself. You've never done this before. You've never done. Always be me, me, me, me, me. Even if you say, "Oh, somebody, yeah, you guys are. " But thinking is me, me, me. But when you sacrifice, when you children, you have to sacrifice. Otherwise you let children die. You have two choices. One is you let children die. Or you have to sacrifice yourself. There is no other option. That's one thing. The second thing, when children, this is mine. Part of me, these are the idea people have. So this selfish is, you know, is selfish is human nature. And this selfish, that's why you can't sacrifice for children. A little bit easier than sacrifice. Somebody else, guy, just strange guy, you have to sacrifice everything, no way. That's why you are in the romantic love and everything you think is fantastic. But then you slowly, slowly have problems, the argument and then the end divorce. Why? Because you couldn't sacrifice each other. You couldn't sacrifice even a little kids each other. That's why you are arguing. There was a why, a good. You don't need a good. If you have little sacrifice, you don't need any a good. Then a good becomes bigger and bigger, bigger, bigger, bigger, bigger. And then slowly you hate each other. Why? Because the first romantic is illusion. And then the illusion slowly goes away and then you see the reality. See the reality is selfishness. So you can't sacrifice each other. But children, you can sacrifice because a part of your selfishness. But some extreme people couldn't even sacrifice for children and even you abuse the children. That's exceptional. Exceptional violence.
But in general, majority you can sacrifice for children much easier than 100 times easier than somebody else. So one way is bad because you sacrifice, one way is very bad because you sacrifice someone they will not sacrifice nothing. You know, we know that children what they do when they grow up, what they do, they do everything's their wishes, their wishes, their wishes. When they are okay, you never hear from them and when they have big problems, they call you. So that kind of person you sacrifice, so one way is bad. But if you look the other way, it's good because this children force you become a little bit better person, which means you force you seeing a little bit deeper level of yourself, not the outside, the terrible, you know, rough, what you call. And inside a little bit smooth level. You didn't see this before, you didn't know even this is part of you. Similarly, we have to unveil Buddha nature, you have to go many layers yourself basically. So that's why it really matters of those. Not other people have this, so I don't have it. My friend here, I don't have it. No. All the television ads say, "Oh, this is fantastic, you have to have it." All of them is not true. You don't need all of them, any of them at all. Especially holidays. Holiday, "Oh, sure, incredible pictures, incredible." You must have this, "Oh, this is an uncharged, you incredible grass." So why you need that? Actually digging yourself, digging yourself, all this money you have to make again. You spend a few days because of this luxury, "Oh, this supply, oh, this is all." So, all television. Say there are nothing better than what you live now. You know, what you live in now every day is much as much as beautiful as that Deshoyan. You are big, big grass. The same thing, machines, so many things, surely everything. And then one day your garage is full. Your, your, your, your, your, the card, good. Woodrow. Your woodrow of the food. You have too many shoes. Your kitchen is full. Your garage is full. Everything is full. None of them make you happy, huh? And this bushfires, somebody have like fifty cars collected. And all of them bushfires gone. You collect and you sacrifice a lot of work hard. And then when they go on and you have much, that much big suffer. So, that means everything we think is matters is not really matters. So, even you are incredible success for, "Oh, wow, like this." And then if you suddenly have to die, then matters, nothing is the matter, even suffer more. Because we let, we, you have to let go of them. Huge things you own, so you have to let go of them is many in terms of harder, harder than you are poor man, or have nothing. Or, you know, easy to let go. So all of them what I'm saying is not I'm saying, "I'm not, I'm encouraging you are poor and loser and you know, do nothing, hang an hour and not send that." So you just have to aware of all of them. And then what is really matters in the heart, what is really matters inside, you know, the sensitivity, the thought for this. But then you have some chance, you have love, compassion, maybe slowly come up. And a little wisdom, just, or it doesn't really matter. I can try this, but if it goes or not goes, I'm not obsessed. Either way, okay, whatever is meant to be is meant to be. I can't control the universe, I can't control everything because I'm not enlightened. Even enlightenment, they control oneself, not others. If does, why God send us in hell and why Buddha, let go us in hell and suffer. So many sickness, natural disasters, so many problems, why Buddha left happened this? Why God let happen this? That is not God's problem, that is not Buddha's problem, that is our own problem because our own creation, our own mind created, not God created, not Buddha created. If we say God created, then we have million questions. Or they had to answer. But that doesn't mean God not exists, okay? It means we didn't structure very well. So that's why we have trouble, we have answers. So that doesn't mean, or if you say Buddha's way, then you have no answer, no problem, everything? No, still someone very sharp, we have to answer. But no matter we know, what is really matters in our heart and our mind, not else. That's we know, that is experientially you should know. You don't have relan, Buddha, you don't have relan, God or anybody. It really matters in our mind. Mahandakolitis. This is up to us, our hands, our choice. Nobody can take our own mind. Even you body disciple, disciple, still your mind is yours. You can choose, you can everyday make better. Whether you are bigger or loser or whatever, you still have the mind. Then lost mind, then maybe we can't do, but that's also not forever. Maybe we have to change it body, change it brand. Until then we have the choice of the mind. Okay, any questions? Anything else? Even you can challenge me. I accept the challenge. I receive the challenge.
Can you think everybody say something? What's in? I said many times, you didn't hear? Because it's not the mind, only matters of the mind, they say, "Mond all this is good, this has very, very sharps." If you don't have a question, I have a question for you. If only mind is a matter, then why the whole universe don't realize? Why? Why? Any other people answer? No one, just one person, no real one, one person. Different people have different answers. Why? Majority don't realize. Why? Why? Why went to wrong Russia? No, trust. Why is your term? Why the North Pacific feature? What? But Buddhist explain, sin is ignorance of the root of all the afflictions. Filiqutions means anger, jealous, all these things are afflicted, contaminated, the mind. Why? Because ignorance. So enlightened or not enlightened means only difference, ignorance or not ignorance. Because it dominate you or not ignorant, it's only different. When you have ignorance and you can't see deep, you can't see far, you only see superficial and you see only short vision. Short vision. Just exactly same, even two normal people, not enlightened, one is have long vision, one can understand more deeper, one don't. So then you can make million layers of million distance, no? And how you see how ignorance less, how you enlightened. So when I say, is everybody, no matter of the mind, only matters of the mind, is everybody know? I say, I have a question, you say, why people don't know? The answer is, everybody knows some degree. Some people may be don't know nothing, but many people know one degree, two degrees, three degrees. They know some degree. But not everybody know all degree. So if we say, it isn't a matter of the mind, we say, whatever your mind think, then many people can know, yeah, that's true. But then forget quickly. Why forget quickly? Bad habit and too much destruction. So why yogis and you know, renounce people no more and see more and not figure quickly because they have less destruction. They have less destruction because they're not thinking, I need this, I need this matter, this matter, this matter. They think, no, none of them matter. Only matters I look in my mind. Is my mind has been any silly? Is my mind been any ignorance? My mind been easy, any foolish? Only looking for this. That's why. There is Kuru Kardamba, Kardamba is a world in it. No, there's people using this misusing. Anybody know Kardamba? Okay, you don't know. There is big promotion Kardamba, I run here, but misusing. By the real Kardamba, some Kardamba lamas, what do you do every day? I don't have nothing to do. Only I can be the know for. Mind for this still. Still, still, of course, still kill people. Yes. I called, I hold the mind for, mind for this spare and then my vigilant hold the mind for this spell and then I see the three doors, bodies which mind is any, any may have a fiction to come in. That's all I do, nothing else. Security guy. He do security guy all day, every day, nothing else. So that means he is watching all day, is then ignorance sending any other armies or tifs or whatever. You call robbers, such as like anger, jealousy, desire, whatever, many things. Or pride you know, all of them, anybody that come in, any these robbers come in. He is just watching the all day security, no other work. But we forgot this very quickly because we have too many other instructions and then we have habit and everybody we copy each other, human been means they copy each other everything. So who is we copy in his majority is in this see the way. That means joy.
Job is matters, a family as matters. Well, it is matters. Your knowledge, your education is matters, everything matters. All of them, only matters is temporarily. You think. Okay, that means, do we need all of them? And who you are, where you are at? Maybe all of them, a little bit helpful for you, temporarily, maybe not. Nothing's a guarantee or a cyber. The only thing guarantee, only thing guarantee is your strength and your mind. The mind qualities only have guarantee, helpful. Not say, "The all are non-idon, nobody needs distance, nobody needs job, nobody needs money, nobody needs family relationship." No, no, no, no, no, it's not saying that. It's saying, only this all is maybe helpful but no guarantee. And the other one definitely have guarantee, so which one you choose up to you? So that's it. That's only matters, everything else, not really matters. Really means, "Oh, sometimes appears really matters." Sometimes appears matters. Appears. Appears means, "Not really, but appears." Okay. Normal question? Okay, then I'll run out. If you don't have question, yeah? [ Inaudible ] People know a little bit degrees, not the whole degree. But the desire, very strong, for quite a few examples, one might say, "How do you gain more hunger when you're doing something?" You're doing a five, ten, seven. But I can't help myself just to know. But do we have to think of the desire where it comes from? Where the desire comes from? There is some natural incident desire, but there's some is we made up this desire. Our perspective, how you look things, and what is matter in your mind, or your attitude, all of them created this desire. [ Inaudible ] Yeah, we just lost, we lost to the discreation. We lost it in the creation. You know? There is some natural incident desire you born with. But then we created many, many others. Time to time we created. We accumulated. So, in Buddhism, we say, all of the creations offered with the nature, we call it the "kantar-git-bataam", "sanki-git-bata". "Sanki" means you're born with. "Kantar" means you are a core. In the implementation, you imputed. Yes? You imputed. You imputed once when you are a garrie of them. In the imputed ones go first. And then born with one is Machihar. They go slow. [ Inaudible ] Yes? We created all these things. Everything we made up. All this is needed. Yeah, of course you are knowledge. Everything you made up. Yes? Yes. But then if you practice Tantra-yana, if you practice Tantra-yana very well, then in this net, the tazaya, all of them, you don't need even abandon. You just turns as your path rather than obstacle. So, danger is a, danger is a machine. If you know this machine very well, it's not dangerous for you. It becomes your tool. But for other people, it's dangerous. This one is dangerous. Don't go near. But you know how to very well. So, then it's not dangerous anymore for you. It becomes useful. But that's very high, high points. Tantra-yana. But made up, made up hints, even Tantra-yana don't need this. Yeah. What time? It's 50. Any more question? No. We have no international question. We know it all. I want to net to that, okay. Summary:
The podcast emphasizes that in modern life, people often prioritize countless superficial concerns, believing they matter, which leads to stress and suffering. Wisdom, however, reduces the number of things that truly matter, as seen in the contrast between youth and old age, or immaturity and maturity. The COVID-19 pandemic is used as an example of how excessive focus on a problem can create more issues than the problem itself, such as political pressures and extreme lockdowns.
Similarly, society obsesses over brands, praise, and temporary gains, neglecting inner strength.
