What $1B+ Investors Are Looking For Right Now (Deal Flow & Opportunities)

This episode of the Family Office Club podcast features a panel of billion-dollar investors sharing what they’re actively seeking from the audience to grow their platforms. Jared focuses on three asset classes: community bank acquisitions (especially MDIs), wealth and asset management firms (RIAs), and technology platform solutions, aiming to build a platform that improves access to capital and tech. Ron describes his value-investing approach, like buying Kimberly Clark stock at $100 for its near-5% yield while awaiting the Kenview spin-off, and emphasizes his team’s ability to solve problems for family offices using Raymond James analysts and investment bankers; he notes that investors need a tangible problem or opportunity to engage. Dr. Zapata seeks compelling founder origin stories and leaders thinking about long-term legacy beyond money, including leadership principles to pass to the next generation, for a collaboration book. Ash is open to commercial real estate projects anywhere in the US, across asset types like hotel, multi-family, and industrial, offering capital-side support for large deals. Gary is interested in real estate projects needing additional GP cash (in 49 states) and growth capital for companies with $5M+ revenue, investing at the $10M+ level, while also inviting families or wealth managers to co-invest via managed accounts with $25–50M minimums. The episode closes by promoting the Family Office Club’s extensive network, including 300+ live events and 30 planned for 2026.

(upbeat music) Welcome to the Family Office Club podcast. In this episode, we break down real check sizes across billion dollar investors and what those ranges signal about the strategy, risk, and relationship depth. Let's dive in. - How can they actually help you? What are you actually looking for right now in the audience? So to grow your platform greater than two billion, to grow a greater than one billion, what's something that you're actively looking for, whether it's a service provider, deal flow, a specific niche in a specific region, we wanna know what you're actually looking for, and that way anyone in the audience, you know that you're not gonna bombard them, it's maybe not a deal that they're looking for, but now you've found out, oh, this is their niche, this is what you're looking to execute in in 2026. So, what do we do this? Jared, how about we start with yourself? What do you specific a little looking for that they can help with? - Sure, we are who we're focused on three asset classes. So, we're in a transaction currently now. We're looking at community bank acquisitions. So, actually MDI, community bank acquisitions, there's a huge technology gap with, well, let's just say, primarily all banks. So, we're looking at acquisitions for community banks, wealth and asset management firms, or RIAs. There's a huge market there, and then technology, so platform solutions. And so, we're building a platform around that to better provide access to capital and technology. - Okay, I love it, Ron. Yourself, I know you found your P and the pod, your pickable partner, but what else are you looking for from the audience here today? - Okay, I'm a little school, so I buy low sell high. I do my own research. I have the Raymond James analyst. I spoke to the Kimberly Clark investor relations people. I bought the stock at 100, it's almost a 5% yield, but it's gonna take a while, they're buying this spin off of Kenview, and that's not expected to close to the end of the year. So, after talking to the investor relations, I marked my calendar to revisit them a couple months. So, I do, but I have a team, and I have Raymond James with the investment bankers. Tell me what your problem is, and we can solve it. Almost anything for family office. But the reality is what I said before, you have to have something for us to help you. A lot of people have come to me and saying, we're a startup, we're building stuff, we're a biotech, and we need money, but the more money you have, the more I can get my investment bankers to help you. But what comes first, the chicken or the egg, but anyway, hopefully that answered. So, anyone who's got issues or needs some help, myself and my team and Raymond James, I'm based right here in Beverly Hills. I went to El Rodeo, Beverly Hills High, UCLA, and USC. I love my local guy. That's great, Dr. Zapata, how about yourself? - Yes. I would love to connect with anyone who has a powerful story about how you founded your company, how you got to your success. A lot of times we come here and we hear about all the amazing stories and how successful people are, but there are people out there who want to know how you got started. What was your origin story? So, if you or you know anyone else with phenomenal founder stories that can empower young up and coming entrepreneurs, young up and coming people who want to be successful in business, I would love to connect and also looking to connect with anyone who has established amazing companies, portfolios, but you're thinking in 50 to 100 years, what's the legacy that I'm gonna leave beyond just the money, the leadership principles that it took to get me here? How can I pass that on to the next generation? If you can connect me with anyone with powerful stories like that, I'm working on a collaboration book and then also just looking to connect and my information's in the packets that you guys have. I love it. Thank you. Ash, how about yourself? - So, keeping our kind of focus on commercial real estate would love to help and connect with anyone who has a project and it could be anywhere in the US, like I was saying earlier, asset agnostic, so hotel hospitality, multi-family, industrial, any asset types, and if we can help on the capital side of things, putting large deals together, glad to help. - I love it. And Gary, how about yourself, what's something they can help you with? - Yeah, we've got several avenues, first in real estate, if you have a project that you need more cash of the general partner side we're interested. We favor 49 states and you can guess which one we don't. That is on the real estate side. And on the growth capital side, we're interested in companies with 5 million in revenue up that use information to do things better. We'd love to talk to, we invest at the 10 million and over level, but we like to meet companies that are earlier, but show promise. We'll help them. We'll do some favors for them, introductions and such, we want to see them. So on the flip side of it is if there's a family or a wealth manager, a group of families that would like to co-invest with us on a managed account platform, it'd be a minimum 25 to 50 million dollars. And we'd like to talk with you and share some ideas. - Okay. - Join the Family Office Club by visiting familyoffices.com. We look forward to seeing you at our next live event.
