WERE BACK!! : engagement’s & existential’s

Clark and Kenzie return to their podcast, Sister Sunday, after a short break, sharing heartfelt reflections on their 20s. The episode begins with a personal update: Kenzie reveals she’s engaged to Sam, whom she met at Glen Eagles in Scotland—a trip full of nostalgia and love. Clark shares that she secretly knew about the engagement for months, despite Sam’s efforts to keep it a surprise, leading to a touching conversation about sibling trust and emotional boundaries. The two reflect on their personal journeys, including career pressures, the joy of family holidays, and the simplicity of moments like eating croissants together. They discuss mental well-being, highlighting how routines like reading before bed and maintaining a tidy home contribute to emotional stability. A key theme is the distinction between jealousy and envy, with both acknowledging that self-reflection and support for others can turn insecurity into growth. Clark also shares her sensory habits, such as using lavender-orange scents throughout her home and essential oils during cleaning, which she believes enhance mental clarity. The episode features a shared love for reality TV, especially *Only Murders in the Building*, which they now watch as a date-night ritual. The conversation ends with a lighthearted celebration of croissants, a symbol of their shared values and the joy found in small, meaningful rituals. Through humor, vulnerability, and self-awareness, the podcast reminds listeners that growth comes not from ticking boxes, but from embracing the messy, beautiful reality of everyday life.

One thing about Clark that she doesn't talk about, which I'm going to talk about in the podcast because I want to beg you up because I think you're great. Could you imagine the whole wall falls? We're actually in like a bin. Hi guys. Hey, I'm Clark and I'm Kenzie. We're living in London and each Sunday we sit down to talk about the highs and lows. All the nice parts of our 20s and you are listening to Sister Sunday. You're a weekly reminder that you are doing better than you think. Hi everyone. This is weird. I actually don't think I can do to count with the camera. Here's the thing guys, like last season. Season. We were like, honestly, I just rolled out a bed and headed to yours and was just going to take us love. Yeah, thank you. You don't look like that today though. She's dressed up for the cameras. And this is why you shouldn't believe what you've seen the internet. And where we are now is just in my house. This will be like an office space because Sam and I work from home anyway. Yeah, and so we've just got this nice little. I know guys, look how cute our sign is. Clark did this. She's the crafty one that I think has to be said. Anyway, so we're back. You thought we were gone forever and honestly. Did you even want us? But we're back. Nobody asked for it. Nobody needs it. No, we actually got some nice messages from people. I know. If you messaged, you're so lovely. Thank you so much, mum. Right, cheers to you. Cheers for the podcast. Clark's got a tea. I've got a coffee. I think that we should do pets and beaks of the week obviously because that's staying. But I want pets and beaks of like your summer. What have you been up to? The obvious one for me is that I got engaged. What? Oh my, did you not know? You reveal it to me. I know. I got engaged and that was just the best over summer. We went to Scotland and we went to Glen Eagles. If anyone's from Scotland, you'll know that Glen Eagles is just so nice. Sam loves it because the golf as well apparently is really good. But also you met because he was good. Oh yeah, so Sam worked at Glen Eagles and that's where we met when he was in Scotland. So it has a very special place in our hearts and now even more so, so we'd love to go back. It was so nice. It was such a nice day. Ken came along to the engagement. Of course I did. She was in the bushes. I go everywhere with them. I live in the walls of your house. This is your room. No. But Ken's was there because Sam, after the whole day, we went for dinner and then my family surprised. And you guys are all sat at a table waving. I can't see this. Sam starts pushing me towards the table and I'm going, why are you pushing me? Why are you pushing me in the bar of our engagement? But then I saw you. I know. And we were there surprised. I actually have a confession about your engagement. What? Okay, so basically Sam told. I'm going to get into trouble for this. Oh well. That's why it's good. Are you getting Sam in trouble? No. Maybe. He might be annoyed at me. But I'm definitely getting Sharon in trouble. Immediately off the bat. Sharon's our mum. Wow. So Sam obviously asked Mum and her stepdad Jim for like your hand marriage, all of this stuff. Yes. Mum told me the next day. Stop. Yeah. So how did you hide that? I don't know. Do you know the amount of times last season we were recording and I was like. Stop. I'm going to spoil this. So when we were doing the podcast, you knew. I knew since December. Was it December or like November January? January. Sometime. I knew since then. And Mum was like, don't say that you know and obviously like Sam will tell you at some point before. Sharon, but I could never hold a secret. But to be fair, at the time I was like, he's probably just going to tell me next month. Cut to like, when did you get me? He did not trust your ass. No. Clearly. It gets worse. Cut to when did you get me? Did he just tell you like the week before? Genuinely the week before. I was getting so offended because I was like, why? He hasn't, he told me this. So funny. And every month, like every single time I'd come around to your house and then we'd all be like set in the living room or whatever. You'd go to the toilet and I'd be like. Like I was just excited to tell me. But looking back, I so understand why he didn't tell me because I wouldn't tell me either. Why not? Because I would have been like, I've got someone to tell you. But I didn't do that because I'm a good sister. So you knew when we went to get my nails done? I knew the whole time, babe. You didn't sit with me to get my nails done. No, because I needed to make it seem that I didn't care. See, to be fair, if you have a sibling that's getting engaged and they. Because you did ask me, you were like, am I insane? Because I think if you are going to get engaged, you should know. Kind of. Relatively. And you would ask me and you would be like, am I insane if I think that? My biggest step for any siblings who are trying to like protect the surprise, tell them that they are insane. Gaslight them. I literally would look you down your eyes. You'd be like, do you think I'm going to get engaged and I'd go? He doesn't love you. Right. What was your peak? I mean, that was my peak. That was my pit imagine. What was your pit? My pit from summer is that Sam and I just didn't have time to have a holiday. Yeah. God. I mean, to be honest, it's like a blessed to be stressed. Like, we were stressed. We had loads of work to do. We were getting our show, Grill the Guest off the ground. Yeah. Plugging it here, guys. Grill the Guest on YouTube. Sam Holland. Go have a look. Anyway, it just meant that we didn't have like, normally we go to Malta. I went to Malta. I'm so jealous. I actually think that that's my, obviously, a side. Well, aside from you getting engaged because I'm like so unbelievable happy for you both. Oh yeah. But like, I actually think my peak was going to Malta. Because I crashed mum and gems holiday as well. Crashing your parents holiday when you're the single, like, youngest child is arguably the best way to spend your summer. Like, I had so much fun. I didn't pay for a damn thing. Of course. I feel like because they were so, they were like so worried about me. Oh. I would say that my pit was of summer. Was that you didn't come on holiday, I think? Oh. I would have loved to do like an old-timey holiday. Me too. We love Malta. Also, I love a family holiday. I think it's such good fun. I think as well because we live in London and we're not with our family all the time. Yeah. I think if I saw you every single day and then I was on holiday and you were there, I'd be like. Get out of my place. Get away. Yeah. So I missed that as well. But it's fine. Hmm. We've got a tree house stay booked, actually. But it's like a staycation. Those always remind me of Zoella. Me too. Yeah. Because she like wait on them. She used to do that. I actually think when you were a kid you showed me that vigil. I would have. Because I was upset. I was like, I need to stay in a tree house. That's going to be a real full circle moment for you then. So I'm very excited to go. That'll be nice. I actually think that's the sweet. In the cops' walls. What's it called? Calcott Manu. I think. Nice. I'm going to have to check it out. So I'll let you know how it goes. That's going to be last. You need to get a good book. You need to curl up. I still have my books. What were you reading? Thrown of glass. Which one are you on? The first one. Still. Yeah. Guys. Me and Clark did the exact same thing with Aktar. Yep. Which was if you were a fantasy reader you guys will get this if you don't you don't. I'm sorry. Just skip ahead a bit. With Aktar, I finished Aktar. Clark was still on the first one. It's you cannot. God forbid you ever join a book club. I can't ever join a book club. I can't show my face there. Yeah. I do like reading and I go through spells of like, this is so great. And then suddenly I just want to read it for weeks. It's like you're a avoidant attachment to the series. I love the story. I just feel like I'm not found time. Well, I need to I need to build time and to read. You need to find time because for the people who get it Clark is on to all of glass. By the way, I absolutely love Thrown of glass though. Yeah, right? Yeah. So good. I read the prequel. Yeah. So Clark didn't do it in publishing order. She did it. Because Ken's had the first book and was reading it so I was like, oh, I want to join. Yeah. I just did the prequel and then get given the first one. So to put you into context of how long it's taking Clark to read those books, no offense. Thank you. I was reading Thrown of glass Clark started the prequel and we were like, we'll trade it over. Yes. I am now on the fifth book in the series. I'm on Queen of Shadows. I'm on the first book. And you know, like the books get chunky as well. So where do you build in time? Like, when do you read? I read before I go to bed every single night. What time is this? I get into bed at like, I try and get into bed for like just before 10. I usually am in bed for 10. And then how long do you read for? I read until I'm tired. So that could be ages. Yeah, but I don't. I actually looked into the psychology of sleep because I was really struggling because I do really early mornings when I work at Plattie studio. I need to like make sure that I'm asleep. But what started happening was I ended up building like sleep anxiety over. I'm not asleep yet. I'm not asleep yet. I get that. And I go, I've only got, I've only got seven hours left. I used to do that. Yeah. But then my heart races faster and like, no, I'm awake. Then I'm awake and then I spiral. And I don't know about you. I like to get like a good, I am either operating. on nine hours of sleep or two hours of sleep. There's no one between. No, I'm a solid. I actually think I need to reduce to seven hours and then I'm like really energized. And if I have more, then I'm tired. Really? Yeah. Well to be fair, when I'm on my two hours of sleep, that's only if I go on a night out. And I actually think that my best days are if I was up all night. I actually think it's when I get the most done. Really? There must got to be some sort of like psychology behind that. Are you kind of guistamating? You're probably reading till 11. Yeah. Not a lot of the rest. Yeah. But I don't even want to know. So if I get up to go for a wee in the middle of the night, I won't even check the time. Because if I know it'll ruin my sleep. So when I'm asleep, if I wake up in the middle of the night, I have this thing where I know what time it is without checking. I can do it for any time. I'll be asleep and I think it's giving 650. You're so jensy, it's unbearable. It's giving 650. And it will be that time. Or you're rich. I actually think that sums us up really well. You think you're like a full-time keeper then? Yeah. And we all know this. I'm type A, you're type Z. I'm type element and P. Because I do think that you're a lot more together than I am. I'm not disagreeing with you. Yeah. But I don't think that's a bad thing. Some people do. Yeah. Like do you believe this thing of like, I don't know, I feel like I've left uni. I also need to stop saying, oh I've just left uni because I have it. It's been a long time ago. It's not that long ago, Kens. Clark, people call me lady now. Have you ever been mad? No. That is actually a tragedy of the day. It's not really bad. I think I might have hit 25 and then I got that first mum. Oof. It is rough out here. That is a low blow. I think it was from someone who was like 1716. But do I look that old then to them? I don't know. I don't know either. Have you ever been to Archer Street? No. So Archer Street in London is like an over 25's club. I think there's a few of them. Oh fun. So I've been to the one in Soho. I know there's one in Clapham. We should go by the way. You'll get in any way. Yeah, but it's meant to be like over 25's. Sort of to like have a different age bracket for people that want to go clubbing. And I used to think when Sam would tell me about this place, I was like, "Oh my god, you've got to be so old to get in there. Over 25 that is wild." And now I am 25. I could actually get in. Right, I don't want to bust your bubble. You're 26. That is so tragic. Guys, actually, what happens when you hit 25 is you stop counting your age. I'm 25 forever now. That's just a fact. I'm pretty sure that's not how it works. It is. I've not turned 26. I'm just 25. Okay. Yeah. I saw a thing that said 22 is the tallest you'll ever be. So you're going to hit your head on everything. And I really think when I was 22, I mean, I was failing at life. But then I was like, "So when I'm 23, I'm going to know so much." I couldn't tell you. I think 23 is the best year. Really? That you've had so far. For sure. It was the most fun I've ever had. It's when I move to London, like literally through myself into it. Okay. And also you've had enough time from university to like add your adult time where you have the whole life hit you in the face and it's hard face. And then you just get on with it at 23 and you're good. Okay. Good prospects. Yeah. But like sometimes I get the fear that I'm not doing what I should be doing. Interesting. Like, I don't know. I don't think I just hear so many people talking about like timelines and stuff. And I don't know if I align with that. Which sometimes I think that it's healthy to have that structure. I was going to say I actually think it's healthy to have not so much like a timeline but I guess you could say that with goals. Yeah. I think it's healthy to set goals of what you want to achieve in your life and when. Of like having a direction to go. Yeah. It's a direction. But you don't have to actually stick to it. Yeah. I think what the difference is is that I think that like millennials had their goals and one of the goals was marriage. Whereas like I don't think our generation that's a goal. That's like a bonus. I'm the first person in my friend group to get engaged. I'm not the first person out of my school year. Yeah. I know there's a couple people but in general like in my friend group. I'm the first one. But I do small part of me wish that someone else is there to join me because it's a lot to navigate by yourself. What do you mean? Well, there's a wedding planning. I don't know how to do that. It'd be nice to sort of have someone to be like, oh, they've done it before or I can help them and they can help me because I'm the first one. I've got not much guidance from my friends. So I'm really hoping that at least one of them gets engaged soon. Major hint. She's manifesting. I'm manifesting. That's so funny because my friend is getting married in April and I'm one of her bridesmaids. She was one of my friends at university. She's the same age. She's the same age as you. So I messaged her after you got engaged because she messaged saying congratulations to you. Oh, that's nice. And I went, I was so excited to have any advice for Clark on planning a wedding and she replied and she went, get someone else to do it. I know it's so much work. I think it's going to be stressful. Well, I actually messaged my cousin because she's major type A and she has a full spreadsheet. I think she's a like project manager, I think at her job. So she's a spreadsheet school. The spreadsheet that she's made and it is so amazing. Really? It's all in different sections of like guest list venues. What you're having on the menu, like time of when everything's going to happen on the day. So I'm just going to use that. I think yeah, I was terrible at making spreadsheets in the school. That does not surprise me. You're so unorganized. Hello, but I just get confused. Like, remember, we would have ICT and you'd be taught how to use all of it. I remember like I was under pressure. Everyone was like, did did did this. This is so fun. I made a table about this. I remember like looking at this green and being like, if it's a control seat. I remember I have this memory of our business teacher who was also our ICT teacher. I'm not sure if you had the same woman. She was unbelievable. She was so good. She actually taught me business and I swear in national fives, which is the first year that you start doing exams GCSEs for English. I think they're not like the important ones to get into uni. Yeah. Um, she taught us so much that I learned everything you ever need to know about business then. And I don't think I learned anything since. And I went to university to study business. And I was like, I already know this. I swear a lot. I think you should name joy. She was amazing. Mrs. Kaplan. Mrs. Kaplan, shout out. We think about you to this day. I remember one time we were in her ICT class and this girl was struggling to do whatever we'd been asked to do on the computer. Was it me? And whatever we were asked to do wasn't working. And Mrs. Kaplan came over to her and said something along the lines of someone said my computer's not working. And she was like, it's actually you that's not working. The computer's fine. It was so stupid. She didn't say it like that. But it basically implied like you're the problem. Am I the problem? Is it me? That is crazy. Yeah. I need that energy in my life or my timeline because I don't have one. I don't have a timeline. But I think it's really interesting because I and also never say never I've never said that I'm not a hypocrite. I'm not like I could see myself like live the rest of my life and not be married. And it doesn't get me down. But I also think that that's because because you and Sam are engaged and like I've seen your guys' relationship. I'm like unless it's like such a partnership like that, I don't think it's an necessity to do that. Do you know what I mean? And I also think that it'll happen if I love someone enough. Yeah. So I'm not like I think I could get married at like 55. So where would you go biggest? 100%. I think I'll probably go biggest regardless. I have to extract that statement. I'm definitely going to marry a stranger drunk on a night out because I think if I was in vague, this is why I can't go to Vegas ever. Because if I got there, I'm a type of person. I'd be like well I'm here now. We might as well. Have you been there? You know. But I think that I don't know, I guess sometimes I do feel pressure that I should be doing things at different times. I remember your age I felt um career pressure maybe. Oh tell me about what you're feeling. That's insane. I find it funny because I just see I think everyone my age is either desperately trying to get a job. So then feels the pressure of life. Are you are you meaning actors? No, I mean every girl jobs. So like everyone actors are always will always be desperate to try and find a job. But like if you're in the corporate world or whatever they're all just desperately desperately trying to find these jobs and then they get in the jobs and then they don't really like them. That also I think is just the age thing of when life hits you in the face and you realize it's hard. Life will kick you in the balls with a machete. Yeah, it's crazy. And then you just just like learn to pick up the machete and take it with you. I love that. But I find it funny because then it's a lot of my friends. who we were all in the struggle together, then you feel a real shift of the ones who then get the big girl jobs and are on the big girl checks. All of a sudden-- - Are you feeling jealous? - I am a little jealous. - I feel like jealousy is a weird emotion. - I think there's a difference between jealousy and envy and people do a little difference. So from my perspective, I think that it's normal for humans to feel jealousy. But I think you're just-- - But isn't that like a not nice version of envy? - Yeah, so I think if you feel jealousy, you're actually just envious of the person. And if you're envious of someone, that's because you want what they have. There's something about the way that they're living, that you want those things for yourself. - But you're not wanting to be mean and tear them down, right? - So then you have a choice. You can either be insecure in yourself and your brain consumes that information and goes, "I'm intimidated by them, they make me feel terrible. "I'm gonna be mean to them." Or you can go, "I would love to do what you do. "That's so cool what you're doing. "How did you do that?" And support the person on that way. - Yeah, that's my question. - And I think there's a real difference in people of like how they deal with those two things. - I think it's an important age around like 20 to 23 or four of making that decision between choosing between jealousy and envy. - Yeah, for sure. - I think it's just different. I think it's interesting 'cause if I solely take my friend group, hopefully they don't mind I'm talking about it, but I feel like we're all actually at very different stages. - Exactly. - So then I'm engaged. You've got someone who's working really hard high up in their job. You've got people who went traveling. It's all very different, which I like. And also none of us think any of us chose the right thing. I think it was just the thing that made sense for us. - Uh oh. - Clark Scott notification that says, "Tidy wardrobe." (laughing) - This is what I mean. - This is how you tie me in. - Okay guys, okay. I have set up reminders so that I actually get shit done. Because otherwise I could sit here on a Sunday being super lazy and I actually had to tidy my wardrobe. I'm the exact same. But usually I don't do it, I procrastinate it. And then it gives me anxiety. - That's why I have the reminders 'cause I hate the anxiety. So then it's like, and then you get an anxiety cycle of then not wanting to start it and then hating yourself that you didn't start it. But then you're so stressed out that you can't start it. - Where do you think that pressure comes from? Was that something that you've invented? Or is that because? - What do you mean pressure? - Pressure. - What pressure? (laughing) - So if I miss one, fine, it's just a suggestion. Like if you did it, you'd feel better. If I miss every single one today and then I wake up on Monday and have to go to work and then my house is a state, it's more to do with like messyness. - Yeah. - Like I get stressed out if it's super messy in the house. - I completely agree. - It's kind of-- - I deep cleaned my kitchen the other day. - What do you call it tidy? - Space tidy mine. - Happy wife, happy wife. - Yeah. - So, tidy, I would say, my tidy. If your environment is tidy, then your mental state is tidy. - Chris Janner says that the reason she's so successful is that she always kept her car clean. - Exactly, it's the same. - In a Michael K. - Vibe, keep my wardrobe clean. - I agree that you can clean, like a clean room makes you feel better, but you've been reading into all this like, cleansing your energy in the space as well. - No. - This is gonna change your life. So I really wasn't into like incense or anything because the only time I interacted with incense was if I was at a spa. And I just didn't enjoy it. And then the other week, my friend came around and she's very spiritual. And she really believes in like your third eye and your chakras and all of this stuff, which I could believe partly. I don't have an issue with it. - I'm very out of touch with all of that, but you don't have to explain that. - Exactly. - Like, you know what I mean. - So it's, I feel fine about it. I like to take it with a pinch of salt. I believe in whatever. So she was like, my third eye is hurting. The middle part of my head, I have a headache. The energy is not clean in here. - Oh. - I thought. - Whatever. - Lulu. - Lulu. - But I loved it in like a quirky way. So she delivers white sage incense to the house. - Your house. - Yeah, because she needed to cleanse the energy. - That's funny. - And I was just like, do we wanna do baby? Mikasa is Hukasa, you know? And I'm thinking she'll put off her incense like it'll make her headache feel better, but that's all you can do. - She's staging the house, yeah. And I'm watching her do it. She's like lighting the incense. She's doing all of this. And I'm going, this is quite good. She then rates. - Does it smell nice? - Yeah. She then rated all of our house of like, she went into every single room and like sat down the energy in there. And then I listened like, as she was saying it, I thought, I think a lot of this is bogus, but then she said that I had the cleanest energy room and I said, you're 100% correct. (laughing) - Now you're talking my language. - She's aged. - Did you feel a difference? - Yes. And I'm not just saying that I really feel like, now I'm obsessed with incense. - So you would do that? - I'm like, big on incense now. Like, I think that you should get some incense and I think that you should just see, 'cause we love a candle. - I don't know if it's in short, but I have put the candle on. Like, I love a candle. - Oh, Clark has to, you have to tell about your candle and your smell thing. - One thing about Clark that she doesn't talk about, which I'm going to talk about in the podcast 'cause I want to beg you up, 'cause I think you're great. (gasps) (laughing) - That was terrifying. - I literally nearly got a concussed again. - I also think, I run it 'cause you're talking about staging a room. - Yeah. - And wait until my thunder, 'cause you're about to give me a massive compliment. - Yeah, well, thank God for that. I got interrupted. - Maybe like the ghost in here is like, don't compliment her. - Yeah. - She's so rude. - Just too much. - I mean, we're back after a short break. Nothing happened to us. - It's just that Clark uses command strips, 'cause like, she doesn't believe in. - No, I just think command strips are easier. - Yeah, but I also think that if there's an earthquake, God help us. - Yeah. - One thing about you, and this is where I feel inadequate, but it's added to the list, is that you can really keep a home, but you invest and let, you know those people who do the five things that I think are worth the money. You're like that, but for home keeping, you're basically like Martha's shirt. You're basically. (laughing) You're basically Martha, too. (laughing) - Oh gosh. - That's nice. I think I prefer, I love interior design, and I love all that kind of home baking and all that. - Junta does interior design. - That is me. And I prefer that to fashion, which I think you're better at. - I tried to be, to be able to. - I think you are. - I think you are. - Like, I'll like thrift things. - You just more, you enjoy that more, and I enjoy home stuff more. - Yeah, but we were talking about your candle, and you're like your scent thing. I think this is so chic, tell the world. - Oh yeah, people do this, or maybe they don't, but basically I've never heard anyone do that before you. - I have a scent that I like, I think it's from M&S, called CAM. So the scent is lavender and orange, and like wood kind of all together. - Okay. - Really nice scent. I decided I liked it, so I bought absolutely everything in my house that scent. So my soaps, like all the one thing. - Hand cream, all my candles. - I could never. - My body wash. - I literally could never. - Really? So the house all has the same scent. - Yeah. - And then also I bought essential oils, which top tip, if you put it on like cotton balls, and then put it in your hoover, as you go around your house hoovering, the scent goes into the air. - That's insane to me. - Really? - That is crazy. I've never thought to do that in my life. Like if I'm hoovering, - I'm only recently started doing that. - But if I'm hoovering, I'm like (laughs) - But I think you were always that way inclined, or do you feel like you hit a point in your 20s? Like did you run a little too far? - No, I was always that way. I don't remember the time of not being a type 8, and liking things in a certain order and interesting. Sometimes I do, I think it's really difficult not to compare, but sometimes if people are doing things and I'm not doing things, it makes me feel like I'm behind. - Yeah, I felt that feeling, but don't worry, everyone has their own path and you'll figure it out. And I feel like I don't put pressure on myself to have a certain path. It just so happens that this is what my life has become. - Exactly, I also feel - I really don't think about it that much. - I think what I admire about you, the way you always, you have really good boundaries, and you always just do what you wanna do. - Yeah. - You know what I mean? Whereas I can sometimes be a people pleaser, and not, so I'm trying to - I am not a people pleaser, but I do want to like be better at doing things for people. - I'm nice, I still do stuff, but I should know myself first. - I would know myself first. - It's not what you do with what you've done for others. - I don't remember. Some people get up. - Watch, have you been watching Secret Lives of Woman Waves? - I am absolutely obsessed with Secret Lives of Woman Waves. - I love track reality television. - Yeah, so do I. - Have you watched The New Season? - Yeah. You never told me this. - Well, I haven't watched any of the seasons, I only watched The New Seasons because I watched. - The New Season is not as good as the other ones. - Interesting, but I only watched The New Season. - Because I really liked Whitney on Dancing with Smiles. - Whitney's character arc is something that should be studied. - Really? - Yeah. - I just think I- - She goes from the villain. - They painted her as the villain in season one. to then really likeable and just like absolutely manifesting her dreams to reality. Yeah, and that's what I love to see. Yeah, I just think it's so impressive. I also think her and her husband have a really good relationship. Apparently statistically watching reality TV shows is actually the closest, like, depiction of modern day life in human psychology because you're watching humans and how they cope in a situation where they have to engage with one another and get on with one another. Whereas before they wouldn't have to. So if you watch trashy reality TV, you're actually not. It's basically the equivalent of watching David Ambrow. I love it. I love to hear it because I do film my time with reality television. And that's girl math. Speaking of watching, what else have you been watching? I've been watching Mainsam just started a show because we like to have a show that we can watch together. We've just started watching only merges in the building. Only just. I think I watched episode one when it first came out and I never got into it. I love martin char. I love marial sheep. I love Selena Gomez. I love it. Why do I want to go Steve Carrell? Who are you talking about? I'm on Steve Martin. Steve Martin. Oh. Steve Carrell. So the reason I started watching only merges is because we're part of a tennis club down the road. It's like where we go to the gym and play paddle tennis and all that. But we went to the gym one morning and I saw loads of vans parked outside and it was sort of corner cordoned off. And we had to go a long way to get into the gym. And as we're walking towards the gym, I can see all these camera men and I was thinking, what's going on? And turns out, they're filming only merges in the building, the London new season at my tennis club. Doc, what's Selena Gomez there? She was there. I saw martin char and Steve Martin. Is that his name? Yeah. They just expected Steve Dore open for them to go into our tennis club. Like I was literally this close. That's insane to me. And then I just obsessed. I have to watch the new season. I'm obsessed. I'm obsessed with going towards the most. I actually think you're watching it. I mean, a good season. Like I've really good like time in the year to watch it. It feels very causational to me. Mean Sam loved to do a date night once a week. Because we've started only murders. I was like, you know what would be really fun. A murder mystery. And I saw this case file with a full murder mystery. It takes two and a half hours to do it. But it's like newspaper clippings. It's got all your suspects. It's like you've been given a file from the FBI. Okay. And you open it and you're trying to investigate who's murdered who. Yeah. It was so much fun. It kind of felt like an escape room, but in your own house. I don't want to read on your parade. I don't have the attention span for like escape rooms. I don't have the attention span for like escape rooms or like murder mysteries. I think if I ever did. It did take a long time and there was one point of us doing it. That was I thought, are we going to make it? Are you going to make it? Are we dumb or can we actually solve it? Honestly, sometimes if I play monopoly, I clock out. I get to a point where I just start saying to myself to jail. Like I'm like I get me out of here. Yeah. It was fun because it was themed to do with what we're watching. That's fun. It was fun. I think that's like a nice way to like have a night in and like do ever because you quite like a night in. Yeah. We go out quite a lot for work events. Yeah. Sometimes we like to have a date night in. So we just had wine and cook some food and then did the murder mystery. It was very fun. Yeah. I've had no luck with the plays that I've gone to seriously. I went to go see this play that my friend was in. We got these cocktails from to high school. It was like three for four offer like ten cocktails or if you're American can and we were like great went in. We're drinking these cocktails. The end of the first act happens. We had two of these cocktails where like it would be fine. Lights go up. I turned to her. She turns to me. We're steaming. We're so drunk. We only had two cocktails. No. What cocktails did you get? So we were like oh my gosh we're so drunk. I look at the cocktails. Fourteen percent. Where did you get these? So it's called mouth cocktails. Oh, you know, like I didn't know neither of us knew that. I just thought it looked because I knew that like buzz balls were really bad and like if your glass region everyone knows like drug and surf will like kill you. But it's just these tiny little cocktails and I was like listen, they were delicious. Like they were done really well. I really recommend them. But we didn't know. So we're setting. We're looking at each other. We're like I literally was saying to her I was like I'm does it taste more alcohol it? It tastes but it tastes like a really good cocktail that you'd get in like a bar. So as I was drinking it I was like I think I've had the tequila ones. Yes. I was like this is really good stuff. Thought we'd be fine. We both turned each other. We were like oh my god we're steaming. Bear in mind that our friend was in the show. So he texts us at an intermission in this like hang around after and I'll give you a tour of backstage. We cannot go up to him because it was such a good play. Like he's so talented. He did amazing. We were like we cannot go up to him and be like yeah we're amazing. It was just crazy so then we're at intermission. We're panicking. We're chugging all of this water. We're like we got us home. We got us home. We got us home. We got us home because it is genuinely an accident. But the takeaway is moth cocktails. Is it moth cocktails? Yeah. If you look for a good time those have your back because we were intermission and we were like you know when you get to the level of drunk and you're like I wish there was a live guitarist here. No other point to you one stage. I was like does anyone know a bit of wagon wheel? I was like I need a country song. You know why? I saw recently. It's like when you get to that level of drunk and thunder struck starts playing and you believe that you can be one of the genius artists. Swing off we want to go see Mama Mia. So much fun guys. So good. We'd seen it before a couple times but not for years. Yeah. 10 years or more. Very good. So good. So enjoyable. There's just something about Abba. It's so cheery. Oh my gosh. My housemate told me the other day that the reason why Abba songs are so catchy is because there's something about how correct me from wrong if there's like musical people listening to this. But there's nothing about how a song is written and an Abba song is an entire Abba song everything is the hook of the song. So they just do loads of different hooks. So if you sing an Abba song you never want to stop singing it because the best part is always the next part. That's true. A lot of my friends don't like Abba. Okay. Like they will leave the room if an Abba song plays at a party. I think the reasoning is that it's overplayed. Which I hear. But I love it. I get that it's overplayed. I understand that. But if it's not broke don't fix it. I just think it's so fun. Also you know when they start a concert or like when they start a musical or a player or a player or a player. Yeah. And they do the first chord to the thing and you feel it. I think I would sell my soul to go and see Hannah Montana if she went round 100%. If Miley Cyrus did like a Miley/Hannah concert and she came out with Hannah Montana for her. It's that time. It is that time. It is that time. It's sweet treat of the week. Which we're actually renaming. We are going to rename. We're going to rename it to treat of the week. Because I think that there's different levels that I think it's so important to have a sweet treat especially in the climate that we're in just now, #hashthogosampedemic. But I also think like you can treat yourself in loads of different ways. And also I think that's important for us. Yes. Because a lot of things we like aren't sweet necessarily. Yeah. So it's treat of the week. Treat yourself. But today's a sweet one. You're in for a treat. But we have croissants that Ken's picked up actually. Yeah. I picked up some croissants for us. I picked them up from, if you've been to August bakery in Clap and Goman. No. So good. There's like a queue that goes like all the way around in the corner. It's like really nice. And then it's really nice because you can have a walk if you're like a south London person. I really recommend. But yeah, I just picked them up from there. And I picked up croissants because you and me and we said it before and if you listened to last season, people know we love a croissant. And I actually think the croissants get shot on a lot of the time. I think we need to get a croissant sticker and it needs to go up here. Yeah. It's part of our brand. Because at the end of the day, I actually think that we kind of represent croissants. I think by the looks of it, people could call us basic. People could call us common. But we're good. We have a lot of layers and it is one of the greatest things in life. A croissant is one of the greatest adventures of all time. I actually think I should google the year guess the year that the croissant was invented. Oh, I don't even know. You have to make a guess. 1800s? Just 1800s. Well, when was an oven made? God, I've asked the question of when a croissant was made. You can't count or offer my question with question. It's very political of you. 1860. Okay. Walking in. Oh, the modern flaky croissant was perfected in France in the early 20th century. So you're right there with the 1800s. Though it's ancestor, the croissant. 20th century is 19. So that's what I said. Because I know what I said. France in the early 20th century, though it's ancestor. Ancestor, the crescent shaped, I'm going to butcher this. Kip-proll? It doesn't sound very French. No, it's originated in Austria, centuries earlier. Oh! That's so interesting. And that originated in the 13th century. And its arrival in Paris was between 1838 and 1839. Well, I was right about 1800s. But I said six days ago, it was later than that. Entrepreneur Auguste Zhang opened the Boulangerie Venezuela in Paris and introduced the crowd to the Kip-proll. Do you know what's really interesting and really weird in Spooky Dookie and everything's connected? And this is a very girl-mouthed conclusion that I'm jumping to. That place is called August. The man who brought it over, it was called August. And me and Clark are both born in August. And isn't the place you got the croissants called August? The place that I got the croissants are called the August bakery. Yeah. I'm saying is that. We had the frames falling off the wall. We had the sage. And do you know what? Welcome back, season two. We're again, Spooky. We're having the croissants. Let's have the croissants. Let me get the croissants. Yeah, yeah, we're back. Okay. I have a croissant and I put butter and jam on it. Because-- I have an almond croissant because I think almond croissants are the elite croissants. They are good. Okay, I feel like how do we do this? Because see when we did it before, like I would just be like, [INAUDIBLE] I think one day we'll get like a coffee table might help. Yeah, but today isn't one of those days. Do you want me to do some air? Some more. That's a croissant. Okay, ready? Yeah. Should we just cheers it? Cheers. I feel like someone's going to pours off that. Mm. Mm. Perfect. If you're listening to this in the morning, if you're going to be implementing your friends for a coffee, this is your time to get a croissant. It's nice for us because it's nice time to connect. Yeah, cut that. I actually even never spoken to Clark before. She's not even my sister. Yeah, guys were not even related. She found me on the street. You did tell me not once. Clark told me that she found me during the reason I came into the family was because it was well for her too. And we were running to shelter or something. And she found me in like the ground and she picked me up. You know why I told you guys? Because Mum said that her sister told her that. She was found under a cabbage leaf. Wow, Clark couldn't even come up with an original story. That's like more insulting than telling me. It's retold. Yeah. Also, I think we watched Peter Pan 2. Remember Peter Pan 2 if I never land. The live action? I think that by heart. Our generation is we loved a good sequel, a Disney sequel. Do you remember Cinderella, a twist and die? That is good, that film. Well, Peter Pan was like that. And the beginning of that was during war. And that's probably why I latched onto that. Yeah, I think so. Well, thanks for joining, guys. Thank you so much for joining. We had the best time. We're going to go eat our croissants, I am not going to lie. Yeah, I'm kind of just staring at it. We've been staring at these croissants the whole time. We've made the rickum mistake. We put them literally right there behind you, guys. We've recorded this for the end of the pod. Yeah, but instead, I just feel like. Should we do the start of the pod? We just eat the entire time. Welcome to the pod, guys. Mukbang. Anyway, I hope you have a lovely week. If you got any messages for anyone. We'll just have a great week, guys. I think going into autumn or fall, if you're American, is kind of tough because it gets dark. Seasons change. So it'll be nice that we can chat to you guys, keep you company through to the winter. Guys, yeah, Christmas. It's cozy vibes, and it's all up hell from here. So join us next week or don't. Please. [LAUGHTER] Anyway, and with that, cheers to that. Cheers. Happy first episode back. Thank you so much for joining us. Thanks, guys.
