Welcome to the "Primal Question" Podcast

Mike Foster announces the relaunch and rebranding of his podcast as "The Primal Question Podcast" after a four-year break. The new podcast is centered on the concepts from his book, "The Seven Primal Questions," which identifies fundamental emotional needs. Foster explains that when these core questions are met with a "no," individuals fall into a "scramble"—engaging in detrimental behaviors like people-pleasing or addiction to seek validation. The podcast aims to help listeners understand and address their primal questions to gain control over their emotions and relationships. Episodes will be released weekly, featuring two formats: interviews with guests sharing personal experiences and solo lessons offering practical tips. Foster emphasizes a balanced approach, blending empathy and encouragement with a proactive, action-oriented mindset to motivate listeners. The goal is to provide clarity and tools for personal growth, moving beyond limitations and trauma. He invites the audience to join this new journey, hoping the content will be insightful and transformative for their daily lives.

Hey everyone, it's Mike Foster and hello, it's been a while. In fact, I was checking the last time that I did a podcast was back in May of 2020 and it's been a long hiatus, now almost four years plus. With the good news is I am relaunching the podcast, but I'm relaunching and rebranding it under a new name called the Primal Question Podcasts. And the Primal Question Podcasts is, it has many of the same elements as fun therapy, but we're going to be talking about some new work that I have been using the past five years to help people, help my clients find new understanding of their inner world. And at a very high level, the Primal Question is a thing underneath the thing that drives everything. And once we understand that, we can take control and be in a much healthier relationship with our emotions, with our thoughts, with our relationships in general. And it's a really exciting new way to see human psychology. And so we're going to talk about that a bit and talk about a lot of things, but that is why we are rebranding it the Primal Question Podcasts because there's just a new thing driving the conversation these days. And I know it's going to be very helpful to you, it's going to be very helpful to your life, your relationships, your leadership, it's going to help be helpful to your family, your parenting styles. I mean, it has so many implications. And again, we're going to talk about lots of different things, but that is going to be the root of where we go in the upcoming podcasts today, tomorrow and the future. So it's, by the way, based on my book called the Seven Primal Questions, and that book came out about a year ago, and it is just taken off like in a way that it's my best selling book. It is a book that is literally transforming lives and I'm completely humbled by the fact that that is happening, but it's very exciting about what that book is doing and the concepts of that book are incredibly helpful, practical, kind of real life stuff. So the book and the podcasts are going to be based on seven questions and these seven questions are questions that represent our highest emotional needs. It's what I call our apex emotional need. And when that need is met in a healthy way, we're our best selves. We thrive, we flourish in our lives. Everything just seems to work. But when the question gets answered with a no or a maybe, one of those seven primal questions, we go into what I call the scramble. And the scramble is all the unhelpful things we do to try to force the answer back to a yes. It's all of our coping mechanisms, all of our people pleasing, all of our codependency, all of our addictive behaviors, all of these things that we do to try to get a yes. And so we're going to be talking about those different questions, how they relate to us, how they get there, and the one question that will drive your life specifically. So the reason why the conversation is changing a little bit from fun therapy to primal questions, because fun therapy played a incredible role in my life, hopefully your life. It was an incredible conversation that we had over 50 episodes of fun therapy exist. And so in many ways, primal question is really just 2.0. It's a different, different way to talk about the same issues and the same things that matter to you. So what can you expect as we move forward? Well, the more on you, you can expect me to be here a little bit more often in your feed. In fact, a lot more often because we're releasing one episode a week every Tuesday. And so you can plan on that, your feed being populated by yours truly. And the format's going to be a couple different things. Number one, it's going to be me talking to guests. Not necessarily famous people or people that you may have heard of, but some of that will be true. But a lot of the guests will just be people like you and me who are experiencing life on a day-to-day basis, trying to figure things out, trying to understand their own primal question journey. And again, I'm just going to ask hopefully really good questions and we're going to hear some really good insights. And hopefully in these interviews, one of the things that will be true is that none of us will feel alone. That we'll all hear our stories within the stories of others and hopefully can garner some wisdom and insight and some action points from that. The second thing I'm going to be doing, the second part of the format is I'm going to be doing solo lessons. And this is where I'm going to be giving you practical tips for applying different concepts to help you improve your life and your relationships. You know, I'm going to be talking about different things that I've been studying over the past five years. Hopefully topics that will be super practical for you. That will give you a sense of clarity, a sense of encouragement. That will hopefully get you moving forward and trying out and experimenting some of these things right now in your life. My main goal for everything that I create, whether it's a book or a podcast or a workshop, it is to motivate somebody to move forward and not see just their their limitations or their weaknesses or their pain or their trauma. All those things are necessary and real in our lives, but they shouldn't stop us. And so we always kind of refer to myself as Mr. Rogers and a Navy and a Navy SEAL kind of hybrid here. So obviously lots of compassion, compassion and empathy are planks of the conversations that we have at this podcast. But there's also a real expectation the Navy SEAL part like, hey, let's go. We're strong, we're powerful. We do not have to stay here and our excuses and our limitations and our narratives and stories that we believe that are based out of shame and trauma are not helpful to us. So we need to stop listening to that. So friends, again, welcome to a brand new podcast, a brand new way to talk about our most important topics of our lives. The Primal Question Podcast I hope will be encouraging to you. I hope it will be helpful to you. I hope you will share it and enjoy it and go along this fun journey with me. And so thanks again for listening. Thanks for being here and thanks for being my friend. [BLANK_AUDIO]
