Rebuilding Real Life is a faith and recovery podcast that centers on the authentic, everyday struggles of living sober, honest, and faithful after treatment or a turning point. Unlike traditional narratives that highlight breakthroughs or clean resolutions, this podcast dives into the messy, uncertain reality of recovery—when trust is broken, shame lingers, and daily choices feel overwhelming. Host Mike, a husband, father, and person in recovery, speaks from his own experience to emphasize that recovery isn’t about perfection or instant change, but about showing up consistently despite fear, doubt, and loneliness. He highlights the importance of honesty, daily habits, family repair, and real conversations that don’t rely on dramatic moments. The podcast is not therapy, professional advice, or a polished success story—it’s an honest, grounded exploration of faith, recovery, and living differently in ordinary life. It welcomes listeners who are rebuilding, struggling with trust, or trying to understand recovery through a lens of vulnerability and faith. The message is clear: recovery is slow, imperfect, and deeply human, yet possible through small, faithful choices each day. The goal is not to provide perfect answers, but to offer meaningful reflections that help listeners take the next real step in their journey.

Howdy and welcome to Rebuilding Real Life.
This is a faith and recovery podcast about what it actually looks like to rebuild your life after
treatment, after the meeting, after the prayer, and after the moment where you realize something
has to change. This podcast is not about having everything figured out. It's about learning how
to live differently one day at a time. It's about faith in real life, recovery in real life,
family in real life. It's about shame, trust, honesty, service, habits, fear, hope, all of it,
and not the polished version, the real version, the version where you're trying, learning,
falling forward and asking God to help keep you going. That's what this podcast is about.
Rebuilding Real Life. I'm starting this podcast because I think there's a real gap in the
conversation around recovery. A lot of people talk about hitting bottom. A lot of people talk
about finitely asking for help. A lot of people talk about treatment, meetings, faith, breakthroughs,
and those big emotional moments where everything becomes clear for a second. Those moments matter,
but what I want to talk about is what happens after that. What happens when you're back in normal life?
What happens when the treatment schedule is gone or when the meeting ends? When you've prayed,
but you're still afraid. When you're sober, but trust is still broken. When you want people to see
that you're changing, but they're not ready to believe it yet, that's the space I want this podcast
to live in. Because I've learned that recovery is not just about stopping something. It's about
becoming honest. It's about learning how to live without hiding. It's about learning how to show
up as a spouse, a parent, a friend, as a son or a daughter, and as a person without running away
from yourself. And for me, that has taken faith, recovery, support, accountability, and a lot of
ordinary daily choices that nobody claps for. That's the real rebuild. A little about me. My name is
Mike. I'm a husband, a dad, a Christian, and I'm a person in recovery. Faith is a big part of my
story. Recovery is a big part of my story. Treatment is a big part of my story, but I'm not starting
this podcast because I've mastered any of it. I'm starting it because I know what it's like
to have your life get small, hidden, dishonest, and exhausting. I know what it's like to look around
and realize something has to change. I know what it's like to want to be different, but not really
know how to live different yet. And I also know what it's like to start rebuilding piece by piece,
not all at once, not perfectly, but honestly. A big part of my story includes going to treatment
and being around people who help me start facing things honestly. But I want to say this clearly.
This podcast is independent. I'm speaking from my own experience. I'm not speaking for the
treatment center. I went to or any organization. This is just me sharing honestly from my own life,
my own recovery, and my own faith. I'm not a guru. I'm not a therapist. I'm not here to act like
I have every answer. I'm just someone who needed help, God help, and I'm still learning how to
live differently on this podcast. I want to talk about the things that actually come up when you're
rebuilding your life, sobriety, yes, but not just sobriety as an idea, sobriety when you're tired,
when you feel lonely, when people still don't trust you, sobriety when you're dealing with shame,
fear, family pain, and the consequences of your past choices. I want to talk about faith,
but not in a fake polished way. Not faith is a slogan. Faith is something you actually have to
apply when your mind is loud, when your future feels uncertain, and when you don't know what God
is doing yet. I want to talk about identity, family repair, isolation, connection, daily habits,
service, and learning to trust yourself again. I want to talk about learning how to tell the truth
faster, learning how to come back after you mess up without using that as an excuse to burn
everything down, because that's real life. The goal here is not just to say the right things.
I spent plenty of time in my life being able to talk different without actually living different.
This podcast is about the living part. What does honesty look like today? What does faith
look like today? What does recovery look like today? That's what I want to explore. If you're in
recovery, this podcast is for you. If you're coming out of treatment and wondering, okay, what now?
This podcast is for you. If you're trying to rebuild trust with your family,
this podcast is for you. If you love someone in recovery and you're trying to understand what
this process actually looks like, this podcast is for you too. And if you're struggling with faith,
unsure of what you believe or wondering where God fits into all of this, you're welcome here.
You don't need to have perfect faith to be part of this conversation. You don't need to have
all the right words. You don't need to have everything cleaned up. If you believe in God,
but still struggle with fear, shame, anger, loneliness, or doubt, you're not disqualified.
You're probably exactly who this is for because faith does not mean life is suddenly easy. Recovery
does not mean every relationship is instantly fixed. sobriety does not mean every old thought
disappears. Sometimes it means you're standing in the middle of the same life with the same problems,
but now you're trying to respond in a different way. And that matters. This is for the person
trying to live honestly on a regular Tuesday afternoon when there's no emotional music playing,
no big breakthrough happening, and no one giving you a standing ovation. Just real life and one
next right choice. I also want to be clear about what this podcast is not. This is not therapy.
This is not professional counseling. This is not official advice from a treatment center,
a church, a recovery program, or any organization. This is not a place where I'm going to pretend
faith makes everything easy. And this is not a podcast where I'm going to act like recovery turns
life into a straight line that has not been my experience. My experience is that faith gives me a
place to keep coming back to recovery gives me a way to keep living honestly. Support gives me
people who can help me see what I can't always see by myself. And daily habits give me a way to
keep moving when my feelings are all over the place. I don't want this to sound like a motivational
speech or like a polished success story. And I don't want it to sound like I'm standing above
anyone else. I'm in this too. I'm learning too. I'm rebuilding too. So if you're looking for
perfect answers, this probably isn't that. But if you're looking for honest conversations about faith,
recovery, and how to keep going, then I think you're in the right place. The heart of this podcast
is simple. What does recovery actually look like in real life? Not just the big moments,
but in the daily ones, in the hard conversations, in the quiet choices, in the apologies,
in the waiting, in the moments where you want to defend yourself, but you choose to listen
in the moments where you want to hide, but you tell the truth in the moments where you want to go
back to what you know, but you choose something different. That's where rebuilding happens.
And I think a lot of people need to hear that because if you're rebuilding your life,
it can feel slow. It can feel awkward. It can feel like everyone else wants proof, but you're still
trying to figure out how to live this new way yourself. And that's hard, but it's not hopeless.
I believe God can rebuild things that looked too broken. I believe people can change. I believe
honesty can become normal. And I believe a life can be rebuilt one small faithful choice at a time,
going forward. A lot of episodes will be solo reflections. Some episodes may eventually be
conversations with other people, but the goal will always stay the same. Honest grounded conversations
about faith, recovery, and learning how to live again. I want these episodes to be personal,
but still useful. Honest, but not reckless. Faith centered, but not preachy. Recovery centered,
not a bunch of slogans. And I want to talk about real things in a way that actually help. And I
hope every episode gives you something you can actually take with you, something to think about,
or to pray about, or something to practice, something that helps you take the next right step
in your own life. Because that's really the point, not just listening,
living different. So if you're rebuilding, I'm really glad you're here. If someone you love
is rebuilding, I'm glad you're here too, if you're trying to
to understand recovery, faith, family healing,
or what it means to actually live differently
after a hard season.
I hope this podcast helps.
I'm not here because I have everything figured out.
I'm here because I believe honest conversations matter.
I believe faith has to be lived and not just talked about.
I believe recovery has to show up in real life,
not just in meetings or treatment,
and I believe rebuilding is possible,
slowly and honestly.
This is rebuilding real life,
honest conversations about faith, recovery,
and learning how to live again.
Not perfect, just willing, have a good one, y'all.
