So we'll talk about those pictures. What do we do with them? We've got injury updates waiver ads and much more happy father's day to all the great dads out there the grandad's out there as well Happy father's day to you Scott. I saw you went out to the brave game and pretty awesome game to be at too. How is that? Yeah, it was it was a good time That's one of the things we were thinking about when we moved to South Carolina was that we would be able to take the kids to brave games They're obsessed so this was this was the first time we made it over there Saturday. How long has that drive? Depending on traffic conditions two and a half three hours. That's terrible. Yeah, not bad not bad at all Compared to living in South Florida where it takes you six hours just to get out of the state, but Yeah, no, not bad at all and It ended up being an exciting finish walk off game-winning home run for Aussie Albeys That's pretty cool. Yeah, it's all for that from here. I mean a pretty awesome picture is little two right Kyle Harrison Chris That's pretty pretty right right. I mean I I Love the opinion and I was talking about this with them before the game because we were talking about how was a good pitching match up between Chris sale and Kyle Harrison I love the opinion that I'd rather seek go to a game where there's a lot of hitting so I don't know that it's Like everybody talks about how they want to see the great pictures and you know I usually frame it that way too, but then it's like But then it's over so fast. That's the big you don't see a lot of action. I remember I went to it was a Jose Fernandez Garrett Cole game back when Garrett Cole was on the pirates and we were so excited and we got there like What we thought was like two innings late and it was already like the fifth inning It was one of those like three pitch clock two. They were just flying by them or moan people down So yeah, that's that is the one downside of a good pitching matchup You might miss a lot of action. I agree 100% being there you want to see some action. I want to see some homers some steals Yeah, for sure chickstick the long ball and PT digs the long ball. How about that? How about that Colby Thomas home run robbery by the way That was not the call for it, but I feel like that was just the oh my goodness moment of the weekend That would I don't know if you guys both saw it, but it was One of the season and it happened against Joe Adele Joe Adele has been involved in some of the best Robberies by a fielder himself and also some of the toughest Robberies against him the season as well also And he got doing done a ball bounce off his head with her home run. He sure did Man, let's get into the players of the weekend We got a couple of royals bats to talk about Scott. Why don't you kick us off here? Yeah, so I want to talk about one that's been kind of forgotten here and for good reason and that is Carter Jensen This very high on Carter Jensen coming into the year. I wasn't the only one his minor league breakthrough last year. He basically did everything right For a hitter everything you would want a hitter to do and then he came up late in the year played 20 games and did everything at right then too Great plate discipline hard contact Slash 390 390 1 550 in those 20 games with the royals managed to hold on to catch your eligibility So he was a very trendy breakout pick at a deep position and Particularly since it's a deep position. He's been a very big disappointment this year a lot of it being like the strikeout rage is ballooned and Was hard to it wasn't wasn't finding much success that way well he's he's picked things up here quite a bit of late Sunday's game he went two for three with a home run walked twice strike out once It continued a 12 game hitting streak for him and during that 12 game hitting streak Carter Jensen is batting 375 with three home runs 94 mile per hour average exit velocity so that is Much closer to what we were seeing from him between the majors and minors last year also a 14.8% strike outrate about half what his season rate is and Again much closer to what we were seeing particularly During his time in the majors last year So he may be coming around it's you know obviously just 12 games but it's 12 games where You feel like he's doing what he should have been doing all along And it's good timing for people who have Liam Hicks for instance who just went on the IL Of course we've seen some Others go on the IL recently will Smith Rushman's not on the IL right but he did go on the IL he did go on the IL okay so yeah, Rushman 2 Yeah, so it's a good time to maybe give Carter Jensen a second look given the attrition that is at that position Yeah, I think that all makes a lot of sense a lot of catchers going down And Carter Jensen one of the hotter catchers in the game right now He's been putting up some big games also been leading off against right-handed pitching too, which is cool Actually looked into his splits us now. He's actually been slightly better against lefties this year than righties Which is pretty surprising So I think he's pretty much going to play every day, but again leading off against righties Pretty good right now especially for A royals lineup it's weird because the royals some of the royals hitters are getting hot But they're also guessing two good hitters right now. They're missing Bobby with junior so it's just like kind of Cancel some of that out right now Chris why don't you talk about the other really hot royals hitter? Yeah, Jack caglione who Was already having the best month of his fairly brief major league career before He hit four homers this weekend The homer once in each of Friday and Saturday's games twice on Sunday I saw a stat from Sarah Langs. It was like the second time in the stack cast arrow that a player had two homers With a bat speed over 83 miles per hour or something he has a really big bat and we're starting to see it You know early on in the season what the storyline on jack hags was He's hitting the ball hard he's striking out too much and he's hitting the ball on the ground too much Well in May he started elevating the ball was hitting the ball even harder 95 mile per hour average Exhibit velocity in May, but the strikeouts were still too high. Well now he's got I think the strikeout rate is a below 30% for the season now I believe He's starting to improve there He's hitting the ball as hard as he ever has which is very very hard And he's consistently elevating the ball to the pull side now His average launch angle for the season is up to eight degrees in the month of June It's up to like 15 degrees And the whiff rate is down so far in June so he's doing everything we want to see He's got the season long woba up to 363 Expectable was 361 This is what jack haggley on is supposed to look like and that is a 75 batting average and like a 27 Homer pace and I don't think that's the best case scenario still You know, obviously you can't always just assume That an ascending player will continue to ascend. There will always be Hills that they climb up and then go back down, but This is an extremely talented young player remember last year You know knickhurtz clearly is beyond his peers, but Cags and Bryce Eldridge were right there with knickhurtz on a lot of prospect rankings this time last year around when they all debuted knickhurtz has like a thousand opus for his career I think he's better than those guys, but both Bryce Eldridge and now jack haggley own Living up to the hype lately and I don't see a lot of reason to doubt it in either Eldridge or kegley on this case Did you read off his complete June line and you mentioned some June numbers in there? But do you I did not you can go ahead? So 379 seven homers 17 run 16 RBI two steals an opus over 1200 so far in June 92.3 average EV 14% barrel rate four caglione. He's up to 83 86% rostered on CBS 70% on Yahoo. I know there's a lot of Streaming and constant, you know adding players for certain days and things like that But I I feel like cagliones just a player that needs to be rostered in all leagues right now Even in some of those shower Yahoo leaks as well. So definitely want to make that happen And Scott this is why we kind of preach Not that we didn't really have the proof that caglione would turn out to be this good But we told people for a while to Preach patients because you could see with the exit velocities coupled with like the zone contact in particular that there is a immense upside here with Caglione and now we're finally starting to see it. - Yeah, the difficulty with that is that you don't know when it's going to happen. That's the one thing you can't predict. Like you can predict regression, you can predict a player breaking through eventually based on what some of the data looks like, but it's hard to know on what timetable and I'll admit, if that's what we were preaching, I honestly don't remember out the conversation progressed on Caglione all season. I know of course the exit velocities look great all along, but I don't know remember exactly how the conversation progressed, but I ended up dropping him in the podcast for the People League, which is the 16 teamer, three outfielder league, but still 16 teams. And I'm doing well in that league. That might be my best chance at a championship this year. I can really use a third outfielder though. So I wish I had held on to Caglione, somebody else snatched him up soon after I dropped him because it looks like it's all happening now. And part of the reason why it was harder to keep the faith, obviously he won 57 last year too. A lot of the data look great then, but for him to have basically a full calendar year at that point of completely useless production, you know, roster spaces, finite night. And I wasn't able to stay patient enough, so hopefully some of you out there did. And it's worth noting he was the last qualifying hitter to get an RBI this season. He was awful early on. He was a really, really slow start. Yeah, he didn't get his first RBI until April 16th. I don't know what happened with just all the royals outside of Bobby Whit, but all of them got off to slow starts this year. A lot of them are still in slow starts. This is I don't know what's what what's the theme of that or the reasoning, but and that was what the fence is coming into, right? We thought it was going to be a an offensive explosion. Yeah, I mean, I, I think Salvador press might be done. We said that before, but it looks real grim right now. Yeah. And maybe Vinnie Pascuantino is just never healthy. I don't have a good explanation for my color. See you yet. Yeah, yeah, not sure about that one either. I'm going to give you just an oh my goodness gracious game of the weekend. This Philly's Metz game on Saturday, just so much happening in this one. So Kyle Swarber, a three-homer game, triple dong, six RBI. He homework again on Sunday. He is now up to 29 home runs on June 22nd. And of course, he's got the 51 runs, 52 RBI. He is in a sport that is very unpredictable, probably the most predictable just in terms of home runs, runs, and RBI year in and year out for Kyle Swarber. Bryce Harper hit for the cycle. He did that by the fifth inning of this game, which is crazy. It was his 16th home run. He also homework again on Sunday. So now up to 17 home runs. The triple, probably a double that they counted as a, you know, triple, even though it's like a double and he went to third on the throw. But you know, a little home cooking there in Philadelphia. And he was slumping before that big game for Bryce Harper. Previous 28 games before that. He was hitting 182 with a 652 OPS. But under the hood was still hitting the ball really hard. I think he was mostly just unlucky during that stretch. But he is, you know, on pace for 35 homeers, best counting stats in a while. If we can avoid that yearly IEL stint with Bryce Harper, which, you know, he's only getting older. Probably would still expect it to happen. But this is, there was a lot of talk about Bryce Harper just coming into the season. Like, is he still elite? Yada yada. And for the most part, he's, he's looked close to elite the season. Based on the underlying numbers, this is the best version of Bryce Harper since 2021. Actually, he has a 4, 4, oh, 4 X, that is the best he's had since 2021. Now, the quality of contact metrics like the exit velocity is actually the lowest it's ever been. Well, he's since 2016, but strikeout rate, walk rate are both better than they've been in recent years. So making up for that a little bit. Yeah, he's still very, very good. Elite, I don't know what elite means. You know, that's like, that's a word that everybody has a different definition. And if he doesn't meet your particular definition, I can't say I argue too much, but he's clearly an awesome player still. And the concerns that he was irreparably damaged, I think are, are by the wayside now. That always seems strange to me. I mean, it was, it could have helped but take off because the Philly's own president of baseball operations said it. But I was like, like, he had an 844 OPS last year, okay? That's about 50 points off from what it normally is, but that's within the range of expected outcomes I would say. Yeah, the underlying numbers were very similar last year to the floor. So I always thought that was a strange claim to make. And Harper, I believe the fire under MVP seasons, but they were kind of outliers. Usually, it's a high 800s OPS and those were both over a thousand. And so, okay, if he's not that anymore, fine, but he was rarely that to begin with. So I think he's still really good and is more than justifying your investment. Among qualified hitters, including today, Bryce Harper ranks top 20 in OPS, WRC plus and WABA. WABA, WABA on the season there for Bryce Harper. So, yeah, you know, top 20 hitter. I mean, that might be considered a leap by some. Who did they do all this damage off of? Ready, Peralta, a career worst outing here, two and two thirds, 10 hits, 10 earn runs allowed, two homers allowed in this one again to Harper and Schwarber, nine whips on 80 pitches here. He used more sweepers in this one, but it did not have anything. He has basically scrapped the slider, which when he was coming up, like that was basically his main pitch. Now, granted last year, he didn't use a slider as much either. And he had arguably the best season of his career. So I don't know what to do with that. His change up, his curveball is still pretty good. His fastball has been getting hit pretty hard. It's a 483 ERA. It's a 139 whip. I know that you guys were pretty outspoken about Freddie Peralta being a bus this season, but I don't think anyone saw him being this bad. He's 61% started. He gets the cubs this week. Are you guys benching Freddie Peralta until further notice? I think it's fine to bench him. I think it's mostly bad luck. That's befallen him. The overall swinging strike rate is down. It's 11.5% from 12.4% last year, I think. But the whiff rates on the individual pitches mostly look around what they did last year, including the slider, which is actually 50%. It's just getting hit really, really hard. But then you look at the results against each pitch type. And the change up has a 335, well, but allowed. The X-Wob was 271. The curveball has a 381 at Wobla, the X-Wob was 271. The slider has been really bad. That's been the biggest problem. It's getting hit really hard. The sweeper has not really, does not really have the whiff ability to make up for what he's missing from the slider. And so it just does look like Freddie Peralta is a little off, but that's a pretty recent trend. Six starts ago, he had like a 330 ERN of 120 whip and generally looked like the same Freddie Peralta as old. He was never going to be as good as he was last year. I don't think he's nearly as bad as he looks so far this season. So I do think there's a lot of potential in buying low in Freddie Peralta because he's always been a little bit of a Blake Snell type where you get real big swings from one half of the season to the next with Peralta. I think there's a very good chance we get a great stretch from Freddie Peralta coming up. I think that's fair if you don't have Freddie Peralta on your team, like you could definitely look to buy low and capitalize on this. I know we said that a couple of weeks about show team Managa when he was going through that terrible stretch and obviously he's looked a lot better since then as well. And we have a pretty proven track record here for Freddie Peralta. And you answered that at the front, but Scott, if you have Freddie Peralta on your team, are you, I know we're not dropping him, but are you, you just pension him? He gets the cubs as we. I guess, I mean, obviously it depends how deep the league is what your alternatives are, but I would probably lean toward that. You don't want to overreact to the one crazy star. Obviously this was a crazy star and I don't, I don't really see anything he was doing that made it so bad that was different from what he had been doing all along. You know, it just, I think it was just one of those starts where things snowballed pretty early, Shorber and Harper both went off and that happened sometimes. But even if you throw out this most recent start from for Peralta, the previous five, it was a 502, you know, right? So he's been trending poorly here for about a month. Yeah, last six starts. It's been four earned runs or more and four out of six. It's been rough. So it's fine. I don't, I'm not as optimistic that there's going to be this big bounce back just because he's not, he's not missing bats like we're used to seeing him do. And even in the years where he did miss bats at a nice rate, it was usually like a 360 year, right? a slice of ice. So I think he's maybe like a top 40 guy rest of season. And that's been shabby. Welcome back in fantasy baseball. Today we have news and notes from the weekend. Bobby with Jr. was diagnosed with a grade one and MCL sprain in his right knee on Friday. He did not start any games this weekend. And just my opinion, but I feel like he should just take the time to get right, you know, go on the I.L. But who knows what's going to happen here. If he's not on the I.L. by Monday, do you start or sit? Bobby with I think he has to be in the lineup Monday for me to start him. Because I think they're hoping against hope with this one. We'll into play a man down just in case by some miracle. It is ready to return prior to the 10 days. But you know, if he misses a day or two more, it's it makes sense to backdated at that point and just hope he's ready by next week. All right. Let's take a look at your sleeper hitters for this week's Scott and you got Mauricio DuBon, Willie Castro. I haven't quite updated it yet. I know I normally have by at this point Sunday, but it's a pretty it's pretty bad time for shortstop down the way we're having already written the the way we're calling them. There's not a lot out there, I would say. But DuBon, I think, is a good play. He's been hot and been batting lead off against lefties at least. Though I think the breaks are facing nothing, but righties. It's pretty good matchups though for them and his splits against righties are fine. Willie Castro has also been very hot lately and the Rockies have half a week at Coresfield because that's what it's been every week for them half a week at Coresfield. But their road series is against the twins pitching staff, which is also pretty favorable. So I think Castro has a fine pick-up too. Now, Simnunia is hitting 400 in the month of June. I mean, that's the thing. If you're depending on Bobby Whitt for steals in particular, that's a pretty seamless, seamless transition. I look, and Simnunia is not Bobby Whitt, but he gives a lot of speed like Bobby Whitt does. Cooper Pratt has been playing and he's been sealing some bags as well. So a couple of options for you there at shortstop. My assumption is Bobby Whitt Jr. will probably not be in the lineup here on Monday, but I've been surprised before. L.A.V. La Cruz is scheduled to return on Tuesday. I assume we're just getting him back in the lineups. Absolutely. All the talk out of the reds has been. He has wanted to play for like two weeks and they've had to hold him back. So it sounds like they've taken a much more cautious approach this time than last year. So I have to think he's fully healthy now. So get him out, getting him out there. Max Fried is expected to begin facing hitters by late June, early July. He's still working his way back from that bone bruise in his elbow. Ryan Nelson was placed in the aisle Friday with a partially torn flexor tendon in his right elbow. 55% rostered. If you have a L-spot sure, but I think this is going to be pretty lengthy absence. So if you don't, I think you go ahead and drop Ryan Nelson. Jared Jones left Sunday start after taking a line drive off his right elbow. Initial imaging came back clean. He is 74% rostered. 36% started supposed to be home against the reds this week. I don't see any way you would chance using Jared Jones this week, right? I mean, he was only 36% started because he was a two-star pitcher this week, right? He was a two-star pitcher this week. Yes. And because we don't. He has a pitch well, first of all, and now his status is up in the air with this elbow issue. So I don't see there's any way you start him. And he doesn't get a chance to go more than five innings anyway. So yeah, I think that's. I mean, if he pitched well, he might, but yeah, that's obviously a secondary issue at this point. Connor Griffin threw from 150 feet with no pain on Friday. He's working his way back from a forearm strain. He'll start up every have assignment this week. Brandon Woodruff is returning from the aisle on Monday. I believe that we'll make him a two-star pitcher at the reds and home against the cubs. He got up to 82 pitches in his last rehab start. But I mean, obviously very risky here. What are you guys doing with Brandon Woodruff this week? Oh, I need to see it. We haven't seen. He didn't pitch any of his starts in front of the stack-ass cameras. So we have no idea what he looks like, really. I'm hopeful, but I can't say I'm confident. I can see gambling in a point's league, just because there's a lot of incentive to sell out for volume and maximize all the two-star pitchers you have. But it's risky even there. Hunter Green may rehab start at the Arizona Complex League on Thursday. He threw four shut-out innings with six strikeouts. Topped out at 101 miles per hour. He did get up to 54 pitches. And he's 83 percent rostered. So mostly rostered at this point could be out there in a few leagues. I mean, this is someone who has top 12 SP upside. He should be stashed in all leagues right now. Corey Seager took part in defensive drills on the field prior to Sunday's game. He's working his way back from a mild concussion. Daniel Polencia, who went on the aisle earlier this week, was diagnosed with a mild flexor strain in his right arm. And Jacob Webb gave up like three runs over the weekend and a home run. And Caleb Dillbar has not been very good. Cobb's bullpen feels pretty messy right now. Adley Rocheman was placed on the seven-day concussion aisle on Saturday. So bad news for him, but good news for Sam O'Bossio, who should play mostly every day. Liam Hicks was placed in the aisle with a lower back strain retroactive to June 20th. Chris, any chance, uh, Augustine Ramirez gets recalled here. I guess possible just because they don't have another catcher on the roster besides Joe Mac. And I don't like they don't really have any other catching depth in the organization. So Ramirez hasn't been particularly good down at Triple A. He's running a ton. Um, but the hitting hasn't been so great. But yeah, I think there's a decent chance. Agassini Ramirez gets recalled. Um, worth adding anywhere in roado leagues if he is. Yeah. I think deeper, two catcher leagues they can throw him at, you know, D.H. or maybe first base and just kind of see what he could do. But again, that's just speculation for now that hasn't actually happened yet with Augustine Ramirez. Will Smith was not activated over the weekend. And in fact, we learned he will not be activated until July 1st at the earliest. So he's going to miss his entire, I believe it's a homestan road trip. I don't know. Whenever they're going on, Will Smith will miss the entirety of it. He received a cortisone injection in his neck, but apparently is not 100% quite yet. Catcher replacement. Road trip. It's a road trip. They're going on road trip for the Dodgers catcher replacement. We spoke about Carter Jensen and one catcher leagues. Dalton rushing. Francisco Alvarez, Caperouese and two catcher leagues. Tyler Stevenson, Joe Mac, Andy Rodriguez, Victor Caratini. Obviously two catcher leagues were kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel there. Marlins manager Clayton McCulloch said, Friday, Yuri Perez's next start could be with the Marlins. He made a rehab start of AAA on Thursday, three and two thirds innings, one run, five strikeouts, fastball between 96 and 98 miles per hour. He got up to 51 pitches. They are being really, really aggressive with Yuri Perez, man. I think it's he, he threw 70 pitches max if he does come back. Right. Because the thing is, the Marlins have been good lately, which is very weird. Just any time the Marlins are good as weird, but they're 14 and four over the last 18 games. They have two starting pitchers right now. They have Sandi Alcantara, Max Meyer, and then it's just bullpen game or hope Ryan Gusto gives you four innings. So I would guess Dylan Seas is just, it's not Dylan Seas. Yuri Perez, they just call him up for a bullpen game basically and just kind of work him back on his rehab assignment in games that matter, which seems risky, but they're not going to ask him to go six innings. All right, Shane Bieber will officially make his return on Tuesday. It was supposed to be Monday, but the blue jays got rained out on Sunday. So Dylan Seas will go on Monday and Shane Bieber will go on Tuesday. The blue jays still do have seven games this week. So that might make Bieber a two star pitcher against the Astros and the Rangers, but another one, it's a rough rehab assignment. We haven't seen a pitch in a major league game since the World Series. He's 71% rostered. Scott, would you consider Shane Bieber a must-roster, but more than likely not somebody that we're using as first week back? That is exactly how I'd put it. Yeah, must-roster, but not with a ton of confidence. I think he's going to get a shorter lesion fantasy than Woodruff would get. Unless Woodruff's velocity just isn't up to stuff, which again, as Chris pointed out, we don't know from the rehab assignment. But yeah, Bieber has a lot more to prove and be very reluctant to start him for his first week back, even if it ends up being two starts. Michael Soroco was placed in the aisle with a strained left glute, Mick Abel suffered a setback in his recovery and did not start this weekend as originally expected. That one like anytime anyone gets a setback kind of things, but we were excited about make able so You know don't love that one Amelia Opegon through 20 pitches in a simulated game Friday and said he felt good physically afterwards Dominic Kanzone left early Sunday with a pulled right hamstring He said after the game that he thinks he'll be fine. He's day-to-day other players who went on the aisle this weekend Jack Leiter with a right ankle impingement and Jordan Lawler man poor guy cannot stay healthy Back on the aisle with a right hamstring strain. Let's think we'll get some waiver wire hitters from the weekend and Sam Antennachi we have mentioned his name a lot this season. He's still out there in you know two fifths of CBS leagues and he homerun on Saturday He has three home runs in his past seven games He's having a very good June right now the overall numbers look good. He's he's run a decent amount He's he's leading it off against right hand pitching as well 61% rostered Chris I think we're pushing a little bit closer to You probably just need to have same a to not eat somewhere in every single league. I think it should be a hundred percent Yeah, I think he's showing a very very similar skill set to someone like Nico Horner He's on I believe a hundred run pace. He's hitting 287 with like a 310xBA Stolen base pace is closer to like 25 rather than 35 You'd like to up that a little bit, but we've seen that coming spurts for him Um, I think the batting average is real. I think he's a real standout and batting average. He's striking out about 15% of the time He's showing a little more power lately. I think the average X of velocity in June is 90 miles per hour um, I I think he might be a 10 to 15 homer 30 to 35 stolen base guy who gets on base a ton and that's really valuable in any format especially with Second base and outfield eligibility. It's one of those ones where it's Okay, and a point so he gives you quite a top 12 second baseman I don't think I rank him there. I think I have him 13th is he quite a top 36 outfield or probably not but A guy who's close enough and eater. Yeah, I think has to be rostered. I have a really close suit I think he's top 15 second base for me top 40 outfielders. So uh, yeah Excited the underlying numbers of look really good for Antonacci all season I'll throw some names out there that I think I would rather have Antonacci over at this point at second base Luke Keishel and Brian rocio and even Brooks Lee Yeah, I mean, Keishel is starting to hit which is nice, but I'd rather have Antonacci who's doing what we thought Keishel would do Mm-hmm in the outfield Like some names that are still rostered in more leagues in him Stephen Kwan I think that's like a pretty obvious one there. It's another one where he's just doing what you hope Stephen Kwan would do Chandler Simpson who we spoke a lot about on Friday. I think that's a pretty easy swap you can make as well Dalton Varsho still 74% roster taste a lot or 76% I think you go make those swaps Oh, let's see anyone else Everything else seems pretty pretty normal there. Yeah, lots of names that are rostered in more leagues in Antonacci I think you can go out and make those swaps Some cornering fielders. We are receiving more requests to talk about Spencer Horwitz the people like Spencer Horwitz Two for four with a homer on Saturday and two more hits on Sunday He has started every game except one since May 20th and he's leading off against right handed pitching He's hitting 283. He's got a 389 on base 852 OPS 59% rostered It's got I think Horwitz is a solid hitter what's working against him is just how loaded the first base position is I just I can't imagine him being inside even the top 25 first baseman Just because there's so many good ones this season Yeah, I can't disagree with that. I did have him highs asleep or hitter this past week The either number one or number two on the list so we definitely talked about him then if you're missing that supplemental podcast You should check it out Yeah, if if he's only going to be eligible first base. I know a few years back can be second base as well then It's hard to imagine Him being a steady part of your lineup. I mean for what it's worth as hot as he's been Expect a batting average is 230 expected slug is 384 which is awful. It's what it's it's 35th percentile Suppressed at that high actually Ex of a lot of these are bad doesn't strike out much walks a lot so he has That going for him and I think because he pulls the ball in the air pretty well. He's going to exceed the expected stats But I don't think there's a lot of upside here and I don't think we should Get to Enraptured by the hot streak that he's clearly going through now you can take advantage of a monostreaming basis as we did this past week But I don't think he's going to crack the top 20 even at first base. I mean you think about some guys on the fringes there Jake Bowers I'm having trouble getting Bryce Eldridge in the top 20 and Jack caglione Ryan Oh, her as they have like Ryan or her in spinos Curtis mead has been very good for a while now. All gulchman's been raking You know it's like yeah, it's just it's really hard to gulchman's got an opus over 900 down right even tj rum field Who I have up next like he has five home runs in his past 11 games. He's he's been rock solid. He's got 12 homers 42 rbi He's got a 842 ops So any places home games and cores feel like that just environmentally is better than playing in pnc park So I think it's close between those two and and I think most weeks I would probably just if there's three games in cores. I'd rather take a shot on tj rum field So yeah, or it's doing some nice things, but it's just it's a really loaded position right now at first base If you need speed we talked about now seeing new nez is an option I think Cooper Pratt as well. He had two steals this weekend. He has three steals overall He's playing every day for the Milwaukee Brewers got called up recently they gave him the extension earlier in the year And clearly they are very excited about Cooper Pratt and I think if you need speed in the outfield Jason Dominguez five hits three steals this weekend the Yankees very quietly I watch a lot of Yankees games. I didn't even realize they are second in majorly baseball in steals They are first in the American League so they are just running wild this season Jose Caboero helps a lot with that but like jazz has been running wild and even some of their fringe guys They just let these guys go so I think in particular if you need speed Dominguez Cooper Pratt make a lot of sense Sorry, I just looked at the the leader row of myself. I didn't realize the marlins were far and away first I did I did I looked it up earlier today. I was like what's going on? All right, interesting. Yeah Well, you know Aaron judge did say he was gonna take a page out of one set of book and run a lot more So clearly that's the explanation his pace actually was better the season before he got hurt But uh, yeah overall it's just been a lot more aggressive I have a potential hitter to stream this week's god Maybe you could tell me if there's something I'm missing uh, I know that the red socks face the Yankees next week and the Yankees out Obviously have good pitching but uh seven games to speak for the red socks. They have three in course field Caleb Durbin he has been hitting a lot better three for four with the home run Friday Two for four with two steals on Saturday last 20 games He is hitting 319 with four homers three steals in OPS over 900 I'm kind of intrigued by just streaming Caleb Durbin if you need a third basement or a corner infieler for this week Yeah, I think uh, I think the matchups are good enough there that that's hard to argue Um, I mean at least look it is it is tough with that Yankees series Which is why I don't have the red socks among the teams with the five best hitter matchups And I'd also be interested in seeing So it looks like there's three lefties on the schedule now Uh checking out Durbin splits here If he excels against lefties, I mean numbers the numbers They're better little better But they're not good against either hand in this yeah But you know if you're if you're looking to stream somebody off the waver wire their numbers are only gonna look so good generally speaking And uh Durbin if you want to take advantage of that hot hand play with the series coming up of course field I can't uh Can't argue too much and then I have a Group of four here deeper names much deeper names denser goose bond homer each game this weekend His best game came on Sunday he went two for three with three RBI he has started 10 straight and 12 of 13 Since getting called up he was doing some very nice things at triple A as well As theory reweez is he back in our lives he has started for the past five games For the marlins during that stretch. He has six hits a homer two steals He's getting some run Liam Hicks going on the aisle just opens up another spot in their lineup and uh he has four homers and 14 Steels in 43 games so uh He's been doing some things tie France had a huge game on Friday three for four with a double-dong five RBI both homers came off of Jacob to crumb He has started six straight for a team that is desperately looking for offense and uh anything here with Donovan Walton of the angels He went three for five with a run and an RBI on Saturday He hit a home run with three RBI on Sunday You know 32-year-old journeyman, but was putting up some nice numbers in the minors uh Chris very very deep names But do any standout to you? You know 15 team roto leagues are deeper denser goose mon esterrier rweez tie France Donovan Walton I think we can mostly write off three of these names um Walton I believe is a 32-year-old minor league journeyman who Has put up okay numbers at triple A, but again he's been doing that as a 30 plus year-old so I don't really Think there's much there tie frances very much a known quantity and it's been a long time since he really made mattered. S. S. I. I don't think there's any pop with his bat. I know he is hitting the ball harder this season and has the four home runs, but I think that's strictly a speed play and 40% pulled air rate for Ruiz. Yeah. 40% pulled air rate 87 mile per hour average average, average, X of velocity. Those are better. But like it's still a very small sample size for the most part. He hasn't really been playing all that often. He's been a good source of speed. And if you need speed, that's fine. But like, I don't think there's, I don't think there's much reason to pick him up if not seem new and yet is available. Because at least he's playing every day. Densar Guzman is young enough and has enough prospect-ish pedigree that there is something to look at here. But I don't think there's much. He's homer than three straight games. I think before that, he had like a 650 OPS. We're dealing with small sample sizes, obviously, but was not a top 100 prospect. Was not even a consensus top 10 prospect in the Angels organization. So I think if you need infield help, he's middle and short and corner eligible in deep leagues. He's worth looking at. I don't think we're anything more than looking at him in a 12 team league. Now, I agree with that. I picked him up in Tout Wars 15 team, Roto, OBP instead of batting average where I just, I've lost so many players. Akuna and Vity Pascuantino and Corey Seagher. So I'm, I'm kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel right now. Last thing I'll mention for Guzman, 25% pulled air raid so far. So that's, he doesn't have huge raw power, but again, it's a good way for him to get to power, especially in Anaheim, which is like a decent home run ballpark. So yeah, very, very deep league name there is Densar Guzman. Let's take a quick break. Our final one and we'll be back right after this. Welcome back fantasy baseball today weekend recap and we are diving into waiver wire pictures from the weekend and this first group are names between 55 and 70% rostered on CBS. Land and Roup, he bounced back with a quality start at the Marlin six innings, two runs, seven strikeouts to one walk 16 whips on 98 pitches here and he gets the athletics in San Francisco this week. Walbert Arrano, a solid outing at the athletics five shut out innings six strike out zero walks. Big key for him 17 whips on 90 pitches. You like that? He gets the athletics again this week. Trevor Rogers, great outing at the Dodgers, seven shut out, one hit two walks, six strikeouts here, 13 whips on 96 pitches, four starts in June, 222 ERA, a point nine five whip there, gets the nationals this week. They are first in Woebug against lefties. So tough match up there for Rogers, but he's pitching well, and Troy Melton, a strong outing here against the white socks six innings one hit one run five strikeouts for him. And he gets the Astros this week. Scott, can I interest you in any, whether it's this week or long term, Troy Melton, Trevor Rogers, Walbert Arrania and Landon Roup. I think if I was ranking them by level of interest in rostering them right now, that's the metric I'm going to use. You can rank them in different ways. You can rank them by upside. You can rank them in immediate usefulness. I'm going to say my interest in rostering them right now. I would go Landon Roup one, Trevor Rogers two, Walbert Arrania three and Melton four. Landon Roup, I don't think should have been dropped enough to qualify for this list. I was keeping the faith even as he struggled. And he had a nice bounce back start here. Obviously he's right around 80th percentile for contact quality, K rate, ground ball rate. I think ground ball rates closer to 90, actually 90th percentile. He's nearly 10k per nine for the year. I mean, rounding up the is 10k per nine. He has a 328 expected ERA and an even three fit. So there's still a lot to like here for Landon Roup that to me makes a must roster. He's been pretty bad for like two months. I know, but that is what it is. It's really good. So I kept the faith on him. I would say that my interest in Trevor Rogers, why I'm ranking him second is mostly because of well, what he did last year and hope that maybe he's finally starting to figure it out here. It seemed like his success against the Dodgers this weekend was mostly about just his fastball playing up. It was it up 1.2 miles per hour. So like it played up in terms of velocity and he threw it 53% of the time. He was just pounding the zone with it. And it seemed to work this time. I don't know that that's an approach that's going to continue to work. I don't know that his fastball can remain high in velocity. It may have just been a fluke occurrence here against the Dodgers. And why he mentioned 22 ERA in his last three starts the previous two. It weren't across the board dominant like this one against the Dodgers was. So there's a lot to sort through here. Still with Trevor Rogers. I'm not saying I'm eager to get him back in my lineup. But I would be more interested in just reserving a bench spot for him than somebody like Walbert Aranjo, who I think is more usable right now. He's got the great ground ball rates. He misses bats from time to time with the change up. But the walks are always high. The outings tend to run short. I don't think there's a ton of upside for Walbert Aranjo at least in the immediate term. And then who was fourth on that list. Melton who's just getting really good results. But the process stuff just does not look nearly as good. Yeah. And he was a good strikeout guy in the minors. But he's not showing any even decent bad missing ability in the majors. So I'm I'm skeptical that's going to continue at the success he's at. Yeah. I do want to highlight. I think the biggest problem with adding Trevor Rogers is just that match against Washington. Yeah. I want to use him right now. Yeah. It's really hard to trust him in that one. But I think if you were telling me one of these four pitchers was a must-roster pitcher come August, I think Rogers is the likeliest one just because he's the only one who's done it before. All right. The second group of pitchers here between 40 and 50% rostered on CBS. Joey Cantillo. Where did this come from? Awesome start at the Astros eight innings one run nine strikeouts. 20 whiffs on 98 pitches and just made some big changes across the board really lean on that curve ball. And it was awesome. Tatsoona Imi another one impressive start against the guardians his previous one before this was a bismill six innings three runs 11 strikeouts zero walks again big key for him 20 whiffs on 89 pitches against the guardians know Jose Ramirez we keep talking about it. That is a great match up right now. Martin Perez has pitch well this time against the brewers six innings one run five strikeouts two walks his velocity actually down in this one. But he's getting more ground balls last five starts look very good. And it's a great match up this week at the Padre. So I think Martin Perez is more of like a just a streamer type and good match up this week. But Chris if you're just kind of taking a shot on upside Cantillo Tatsoona Imi they both flash a lot of it this weekend. I think I might has more upside. Now Cantillo Cantillo. This was such a weird start for him because it's usually all about the change up and then he just kind of has to survive with everything else and the curve ball was incredible in this one. And I have no idea where that came from he used it more than twice as often as he normally does it was his most used pitch. He got 13 whiffs with it. The velocity was up on everything it was up 1.4 miles per hour on the curve ball. If that can be a real thing. And now he has two good pitches. Okay yeah maybe Joey Cantillo can be good but for the most part it's just the the change up. And so I have a hard time buying in Tatsoona Imi at least you know we did come into the season with some pretty big optimism around him. We are starting to see the slider has been awesome as expected. But I think the thing to note here is the change up which he only threw like 3% of the time coming into this start. He threw it closer to 20% of the time in this one and it was really good. He got four whiffs with it on five swings. Didn't throw it in the strikes on it all is entirely a chase pitch but we're starting to see some pieces come together for Tatsoona Imi. The command has still on the whole been pretty badly lately. This was his first I think really dominant start like well no he had a nine strike out start a couple start to go too right. Sometimes we're starting to see it a little bit. I still think it's a long shot based on what we've seen the command still seems pretty bad but I think Imi is by far the most interesting of this group. Unless Cantillo goes down his next start and dominates with that curve ball again and then we're talking about a completely different version of Joey Cantillo but I can't take it on faith after one start that's who he is now. I might just hedge based on format because Cantillo is a spark in points. That's a good call. Yeah. I also like the match against the Mariners this week. Oh yeah they're terrible against lefties. So it was eight strikeouts against Amaya a couple turns ago but even that was three walks in five innings. No walks in this one. This actual strike rate was still what was it? It was it was 64% actually that's not bad by Amai standards. So it was a very incurred. It was by far his most encouraging start and with the addition of the new change up or at least making use much more use of that change up. maybe something to build on there. But I do, so for Kentillo with the curve ball, there are a couple of keys to that one. And this is from MLB.com, be better for MLB.com. His, he did a better job of getting ahead in the count, which allowed him to drop the curve ball below zone and induce chases that way, just working ahead in the count allowed it to be more of a weapon. And Kentillo himself said it was a point of event. He insisted to throw it hard. The exact quote was, we worked on throwing it hard. We're not trying to be fine with anything, but really just letting that pitch rip and really just understanding how useful that pitch is. We did a good job of actually throwing it a lot. I think I threw it with a lot of conviction and I threw it really hard. So it wasn't just something that happened. It was very much by design and it could be a game changer for him. It's only one star to your point, Chris. And it's only one star for him, I. But I think both of them show that there's significant bad missing potential that we've seen before. And so that has me intrigued. I'm probably more interested in these two than a couple from the previous list, certainly than Melton. Yeah. I think that makes sense. Some deeper names here. We have Walker Bueller had a strong outing at the Rangers, five and a third, one run at seven strikeouts, 13 whips on 87 pitches. It's Walker Bueller. I just keep telling myself that, but it's been going on for a while now. Last eight starts, 276 ERA, 118 Whip. He gets the Dodgers this week revenge game, but you definitely don't want to use him in that one. Robert Gasser, a strong outing at the brave, six innings, two runs, seven strikeouts. Not sure if he's going to remain in the Brewers rotation with Brandon Woodruff back. And the D-backs called up a gentleman named Jose Cabrera to start on Sunday. And he looked pretty good, five shout out innings, three strikeouts, zero walks, 11 whips on 62 pitches. And he was pitching pretty well in the minors this year, a little bit of an older prospect, 24 years old, spent some time between AA and AAA. But mostly deep relief names here. Scott, anything stand out to you with Walker Bueller, Robert Gasser and Jose Cabrera. I think Gasser remains pretty interesting. - Agreed. - Getting five whips on two different pitches is always impressive for a lefty guy with-- - That's true, the fastball. - And the fastball being one of them, yeah, I'd love to see him whips on the fastball. I still question whether he'll be the odd man out with Brandon Woodruff coming back. I guess Sprote makes more sense. Yeah, Gasser might stick around. So yeah, that's somebody to look into. Probably less interesting him than Kentillo and Amai, but there's some skills here. Not totally disinterested in Jose Cabrera. I don't think there's significant upside there, but giving a very weak contact in the minors, most of it on the ground and was still averaging more than a strike up or inning he got with so the decent total in his debut here. I think it's just a deeper league play, like deep, deep, deep league play. But if he gets to stick around for a while, make a few more starts that wouldn't surprise me if he was the name we mentioned occasionally on this podcast. - Starter sit these pictures. So we had a lot of blow up. Regression starts this weekend. I think some of these guys, we might start to consider dropping as well. We got to keep things moving here, lots of names, but Kevin Cosmin, I think this is kind of one of those starts for him at the Cubs. Two innings, seven hits, seven runs, four walks, the three strikeouts. He has allowed four plus runs in three of his last four starts. And he's home against the Astros this week. Any actual concern with Cosmin? Are you using him or is this just a bit of a rough patch for him? - I'm gonna have a really hard time sitting a guy who just went seven innings with seven strikeouts and one run against the Yankees, you know? Like I get it, he's been frustrating lately, but Kevin Cosmin's a good pitcher. And we just saw him dominate a very good Yankees lineup. So I'm probably just gonna keep him in my lineup. - ERA estimators are more in the mid threes now. The ERA climbed over four with this one. So he's, you know, that's just another justification to stick with them is why I brought it up. - Yeah, another rough outing here from Jose Soriano who is starting to look like shout out to Azerr, one of the biggest full dues of the season because over his last 10 starts, he now has a 497 ERA, a 158 with five and a half walks per nine during that stretch. He gets the Orioles this week. Start, sit, drop. Jose Soriano. - I don't think it's a drop. He's still missing bats at a great rate, much better than ever before with that expanded arsenal, but it's been a couple months of not being very useful. And like, I don't think you have to look much further than the walks to understand why and that's not a new issue for him. So they've reared their ugly head and they've exposed him as a frustrating picture at the very least, but I don't think waiver fodder yet. Definitely somebody should have feel obligated to keep in your lineup. So if you have a robust pitching staff. - Turns out their read, "Depamers is human" after all. I think he's a lot of time a bad start considering how well he was pitching previous five starts before this one, 136 ERA 0.52 Whip, but he did allow five runs over six innings, six hits, four walks as well. He gets the athletics again next start out. So facing the same lineup two times in a row and he just got hit hard against them. Christie's stick with, I think we're holding Deppamers, obviously, but are you using him? Are you putting him in your lineup this week? Against that same lineup. - That's tough. Man, honestly, this could have been so much worse. I think he had three walks in the first inning, walked the first two batters he faced. I want to say it was something like the first 11 pitches were balls or something. It was really bad early on. And then he got back on track. And within that context, ending up with six innings, doesn't sound so bad. I'm not saying it was a good start, certainly, but four runs in the first inning. It kind of just sounds like he had one bad inning and then sort of figured it out. So as bad as it was, I think it wasn't so discouraging that you have to run away from Redemers. Although it's Redemers. So if he's bad moving forward, I would not be surprised at all. I think we said that throughout this good run is that he looks great right now, but we don't have a track record here that says you can trust Redemers. - Yeah, we do have a track record of good strikeouts and FIP and X-FIP loving him, but unfortunately that comes with a lot of inconsistency as well with Redemers. Emmett Sheen, he was crushed by the Orioles on Sunday, three and a third, eight hits, six runs, two homers allowed in this one, struggled to throw strikes when he did. He gave up a lot of hard contact. Chris, I'm gonna come right back to you because I know you had an interesting quote from Dave Roberts on this one as well. He does get the Padres this week, which is like the best matchup, but he just had a really, really bad start. So what are we doing with Emmett Sheen? - It might be do or die for Emmett Sheen because there's this quote from Dave Roberts, Katie Wu from the athletic report of it. Quote, it just hasn't been where we needed it to be, where he wants it to be. Right now he's probably searching a little bit, but he'll get to start this next one and we'll see where it takes us. That does not sound like Dave Roberts saying, this is a guy who we trust to be in our rotation no matter how bad things get. That sounds like kind of what we've thought with Emmett Sheen, which is that the Dodgers have a leash on him in a way that they don't for, you know, Shohei O'Tani or Blake Snell when he's healthy. And yeah, I think Emmett Sheen needs to pitch a lot better moving forward. They've got River Ryan sitting down a triple A dominating, ever had one bad start recently, but for the most part, he's been utter prominent 28 years old, so it's not like he's down there for seasoning. I really think if Emmett Sheen is a bad start, I could be it for him in the rotation. Dustin May came to a crashing halt on Sunday at the Royals, two innings, six hits, six runs, two homers loud in this one. Velocity down across the board. I think this is something we need to watch for Dustin May. Obviously his previous 12 starts, he was, you know, one of the hottest pitchers in baseball. He gets the Marlins this week scout. What are we doing with Dustin May? I mean, it's a pretty good matchup. He had been hot, obviously, which is why he was, started universally for these two starts, and then it went poorly in the second one, and the Velocity wasn't down. It'd be easy, I'd say, just started against the Marlins, but I might shy away from that unless I just didn't have a good alternative. We'll say first two starts of his career back to back with 100 plus pitches. He had gotten to 199 before, but, you know, maybe that's just it, right? Maybe he's a little, he was a little EP, he was a little sleepy after his, his complete game. A little rest. I mean, I wish he could tell me how hard he was going to throw in his next turn. It would make the decision a lot easier. Yeah, that's all, that's, that's what we're struggling with with Sean Burke, all of a sudden, going harder too, yeah. Yeah. Bryce Elder got hit really hard by the Brewers, six innings, 12 hits, eight runs allowed, and over his last, - I guess last five starts, 831 ERA, 181 Whip, he's at the Giants this week, and the Giants, while overall the season their lineup hasn't been as good. I think over the last 30 days, they are first in WoBUS. So their lineup has come around here. Scala, come right back to you, Bryce Alder from your Atlanta Braves. What are we doing this week? Are we starting them? Would you consider dropping him at all? - Yeah, I think we're much closer to dropping than starting him at this point. - Definitely, one at the start. You don't start a guy with 831 ERA in his last five starts, particularly when-- - But what if that guy has a career 550 ERA? - No, well, you might have to think twice in that case. - I could spend this more positively in that, aside from the second inning, he allowed no runs in five hits in five innings. So like there was one inning where things really snowballed on him and it was capped by a three run home or by William Catreras, but otherwise there was a lot of ground balls. I could spend it that way. - Besides that, I don't-- - I don't really want to. - Jeez. - Because I don't have a lot of confidence in Bryce Alder. - Emerson Hancock, we have been telling you that we felt regression was coming here and against the Red Sox five runs over five in a third innings. And he has a lot of five plus earned runs in back to back outings. He has allowed a homer in each of those. He's at the guardians this week. Again, that is a great matchup. Chris, what are we doing with Emerson Hancock? - I think we're dropping Emerson Hancock if he has a bad start against the guardians, 'cause-- - With no J-Ram, yeah. - If you can't use him against that matchup with no Jose Ramirez, I don't know who you're gonna trust him for. And you know, it seems like the Mariners are going to go back to a five-man rotation at some point, probably not until the all-star break, but I think it's going to happen at some point. Hancock is their least talented pitcher, I would say. So it wouldn't surprise me if he was the one who ended up getting pulled from the rotation. He's been awesome for the most part, but we've seen that Whiff rate dying as the season's gone on. Strike R8 has gone down. Absent that 114 strikeout star. He's down to like 6K per 9 since that one, I believe. So yeah, it's pretty hard to get excited about Emerson Hancock right now. - And it's pretty crazy to me that the Mariners who clearly have World Series aspirations and they have turned things around. Their season got off to a very slow start. They have to at some point see what Kade Anderson can do in the majors this year because he might just be one of their three or four best pitchers and needs to be in their postseason rotation. They need to find that out in the second half of the season. So I don't know exactly how they're going to do that, but he has been so dominant in a AA. I think we will find out eventually whether or not he could do that in the majors. Not that exactly, but if he can continue to pitch very well in the majors. Speaking of pitchers against the Guardians, right? Is supposed to be a really good matchup. Spencer Eragedi regression happening for him. Six innings, six hits, six runs allowed, three homers in this one, oddly enough, H-trikeouts to zero walks, which is like, you know, under the hood, that's kind of what we wanted to see from Spencer Eragedi. And in his four starts in June, it's a 695 ERA a 136 whip, but again, 20% K-Walk rate. So it's like some of the underlying stuff actually looks better now than when he was pitching well. It's like baseball is just so weird. Eragedi at the Tigers this week starts it. Drop. Look, I think he's maybe the clearest regression candidate among starting pitchers. And I think you could still call him a cell high pretty easily. He's got a 313 ERA even after this start. That's compared to a 457 Xpecta ERA of 413-Fip, really high walk rate, less than strike out per. Obviously with the home runs that really doomed him in this start. And he's managed to avoid damage on those mostly 'cause average ex of velocities low. But, you know, he gives up enough fly balls that that could become an issue too. I think the Tigers are a favorable enough matchup that I'm not saying you automatically sit, Eragedi. Look, he's still had eight strikeouts in six innings. But I would rather trade him. Like among the many things I can do with Eragedi trade would be at the top of the list. All right, let's get into some leftovers from the weekend and hitters who remained at Red Hot in June. Pete Crow Armstrong. Three for three with two steals on Friday, Homer again on Saturday, last 19 games. He is hitting 450, 10 homers, six steals, and OPS over 1,400 during that stretch. Dylan Dingler. He, Homer on both Saturday and Sunday, and in June, he's hitting 386, seven homers, 21 RBI, 1194 OPS. Wyatt Langford has looked great since returning. 15 games, 317, five homers, a steal, OPS just over 1,000. And Pete Alonzo also mashing, Homer Friday and Sunday, and in June hitting 297 homers, and OPS just over 1,000 as well. Chris, these guys are awesome right now. I think in particular, Wyatt Langford is the one that we really needed to see with him coming back from that injury. Yeah, the one thing that's tough about that though is we've seen the good stretches from Wyatt Langford before. And he's never sustained them. He's never built on them. And so that's what we're hoping to see. But yes, given how bad he was, given how largely disappointing he has been throughout his career, we'll always take the good stretches because you need to see them if he's going to be a good player. I have no idea if this means he's going to be good moving forward. The actual underlying stuff is pretty bad. Yeah. So far in June, his average loss, he's only like 86 miles per hour, I think. Yeah, so I had written down the last nine games where he's done all the damage for 32 batting average, four homeruns, 87.6 average exit. That's actually better. It's a yeah, it's still the bad. And it's lower than his very bad season mark of 88.8. And yet somehow he's he's streaking at 87.6, which is like Steven, I think it's actually a little better than Steven Qua, but it's near the bottom of the barrel in terms of players. How hard they hit the ball. Yeah, it's, we'll take it, but it does not necessarily make me think now's the time to trade for Wyatt Langford either. I think you can trade for Wyatt Langford was a couple weeks ago. Yeah, I think you could spend it either way though, because I would still bank on him hitting the ball harder. This is something he's always done in his pretty brief career. But if he's performing like this while not hitting the ball hard, like what happens when he actually starts hitting the ball harder? I, I could see. Yeah, yeah. If it does, not better days. Like obviously this is a great stretch, but I don't know, I could see it kind of evening out. Yeah, I mean, that's what you would hope for, but we've seen him hit the ball hard and not be a very good hitter in the past. So I, look, I'm not down on Wyatt Langford because of the stretch. That would be silly, but I'm not as optimistic as I would like to be based on how good the performance has been. This name, not Red Hot, but he is looking better as of late Jackson Merrill, three for five with two steals on Saturday, one for four, another steal on Sunday, last 22 games, he's hitting 264, four homers, five steals, and hitting the ball decently hard during that stretch, he's up to 15 steals on the season. He had 16, two years ago in a full season. Now he has 15 and a half a season. So, man, if we get that batting average up to like 250, my turn out to still be a solid season here for Jackson Merrill. God, if you had told me Jackson Merrill would have 15 steals by June 22nd, I would have been so excited about how the season was going. There's like, that was the, that was the one question I had. Everything else is down, right? It's just the season. - Oh, he's been awful other than that. - Yeah. Some other hitting left over, CJ Abrams, homeward, each game this weekend just continuing that breakout year, Ben Rice picking the power back up. He has four home runs in his past seven games. Ozzy Albees, as we mentioned earlier, with Scott and family in attendance, three for four with a double-dong, including a walk-off homeward. He had an awful May, but honestly, his April and June have looked really good. And overall, it's been a very strong season for Albees here. Travis Bazonis. - I do have to point out that both of those home runs he hits Saturday, just barely cleared the fence. - But they were both off right in front of the chop house. - Yeah, opposite field, opposite field shot to the shallowest part. And they like bounce off the top of the wall and get over. - I mean, those are Ozzy Albees, specials aren't there. - Doesn't matter if you win by an intro mile, winning's winning. - Yeah. - Well, yes, but from a project looking forward perspective, how confident are we in his, that he's right at the ship here as a hitter? And I don't know about that. I mean, look, he's, he's a top 10 second baseman for now, but some others are knocking on the door. Sam Antonacci, who we talked about, Travis Bazonis, I had a two-homer game himself this weekend. - You know, it would make me feel a lot better about it. Well, what was the name of the coach for the mats that they signed that everyone was like, "Oh, the brave are gonna run now." - Yeah. - And he obviously has one steal. - And one Richardson. - Yeah, I'd feel so much better about him if he was on pace for his usual like 15 or so steals. And he's got one. - The rest of the pace numbers are great. 25 hommers, 108 runs, and 86 RBI. I mean, that's, you'll take that every day from a second baseman, but yeah, even if we were getting like eight to 10 steals, that would make that look a lot better. But it's sometimes they come in bunches, so we'll see. But yeah, only one steal so far this year. Four Ozzie Albees, Scott mentioned Travis Bazonis, four for four with a double-dong five RBI on set, Thursday and JJ Weatherholds nice weekend as well. Three for five with a double dong on Sunday. Also had three hits on Friday as well. Some pitching left overs. Part one. Terrick school will finish one out short of a quality start against the white socks. H strikeouts over five and two thirds innings hasn't looked as sharp, but probably to be expected coming back from surgery. Cam Schletler destroyed the reds on Friday. Thirteen strikeouts a career high over six innings. Jacob Mizierowski he's human he finally took a loss he allowed a whopping two earned runs over six innings here. Still had 18 whiffs on 91 pitches and Ranger Suarez was great at the Mariners six and two thirds shut out five strikeouts for him. I believe he took a no hitter pretty late into that start as well. He has allowed two earn runs or fewer in nine to fourteen so he's been very consistent. Chris anything on Suarez the Miz, Cam Schletler and Terrick school. Yeah I mean schoolable hasn't been great, but there's nothing that really looks alarming about it. So I don't really three homers and two starts was one thing that stood out, but yeah in terms of like velocity and whiffs that's been fine. Well, and that's the kind of thing where if he allowed two homers and two stars, you wouldn't even notice, right? It's just kind of I don't I don't know. Maybe he can't pitch right now, but I I don't see any reason to be worried. And Cam Schletler boy, this was about as good as he's ever been. It was like ten strikeouts for the first four innings I think. Yeah he was incredible. That was that was fun to watch. It was a little surprised it was Littler's first double digits strikeout game this year as dominance he's been. Technically as we measure these things, it's first of his career. We usually don't include right postseason in those. So yeah, fair. Yeah, you could do that. Pitting leftovers part two, Bryce Miller, another strong outing cut short because of this piggyback situation, which is annoying Kyle Harrison, two strong starts in a row after that blow up in Las Vegas, Christopher Sanchez, Ho-Hum, another quality start strong outing against the met six innings, one run, five strikeouts for him. It's got anything that you noticed on Sanchez, Kyle Harrison, Bryce Miller. No, I mean they were good in the ways they've been good lately. Harrison and Miller both dominating with their fastball, which is a good pitch to dominate with. And part of the reason why we're so high on them and they just did it again. Still high on them. Yeah. Pitching leftovers part three, Paul Schien's a tough loss here at Colorado, six innings, two runs, eight strikeouts, 19 whiffs on 104 pitches outduled by Tomo Yuki Sagano. How about that? Logan Webb is so back at the Marlins, eight innings, two runs, five strikeouts for him. Last three starts. It's one earned run over 23 innings for Logan Webb. Logan Gilbert, another Logan pitching very well, great outing here against the Red Sox, six and a third, one run, eight strikeouts, 18 whiffs. Keep it simple, man. Lean on the fastball and that's two starts in a row where that fastball has been dominant for Logan Gilbert. Chris, anything else to add on a Gilbert Webb or Paul Schien's? Yeah, Webb looks like himself. Schien's, I think the vibes have been kind of off with Schien's, but this three quality starts in a row where it's 25 strikeouts. I'm not worried about it at all. Gilbert at the risk of doing a little bit of confirmation bias. We'll just note that it's coincidental that the two starts where he stopped throwing his cutter are also the two starts where his foreseemer has been absolutely unhittable. And maybe he didn't need to start throwing a cutter. Yeah. And maybe getting keeping away from that can continue to help Logan Gilbert pitch really, really well. I'm not an expert. That's just what I'm hoping. I would call you an expert Chris. I would. The call to the bullpen from the weekend for the Tigers. Kenley Jansen picked up saves on both Friday and Saturday. He's locked back in as their closer for the royals on Friday match. From start of the ninth with a four-run lead. He was charged with three runs on a walk into hits. Alex Lang came on to get the final out. He did throw a wild pitch and he gave up a single, but he picked up his fifth save. Scott Royals bullpen. Still kind of a mess, but I I would still lean towards Alex Lang being the leader for now, I guess. Yeah. He's the leader. He's not a great reliever. So I don't know that he can he can he's going to have that job on lockdown necessarily, but he does appear to be a clear front runner and find choice for saves for as long as the last. For the athletics on Friday, Elvis Alvarado got the top of the ninth with the A's trailing by two runs. And he pitched well in that inning the A's tied it up in the bottom of the ninth. Alvarado came back out for the 10th. He did not allow any runs. The A's walked it off. Alvarado earned the win. And I'm thinking man, confidence builder for him for the A's everybody involved. Then on Sunday, Alvarado, night thinning game tide gives up a go ahead to run Homer to Zach netto. So I think that's runs into his last three now. So it's kind of how however you want to slice it up every I think his last five or six appearances have all been in the ninth inning. So it's his role if he can keep it. But yeah, we don't have a Franklin over there. Yeah, we don't have a particularly that was what I was thinking of. Yeah. Yeah. But we don't have a particularly long track record here of Alvarado being worthy of this. I'm pretty sure we've said this before, but it feels like the A's won a closer, but whoever they've tried to give it to has this kind of, you know, crap the bed whenever given an opportunity. So he's got nasty stuff. He's got a throw strikes. We'll see what happens for the Orioles on Friday. Ryan Hellsley got the ninth with a two run lead. He allowed three runs on two walks to hits in an error. He took his first blown save and third loss. Then on Saturday, you near Kno got the final two outs of the game for his first save. Still think it's Ryan Hellsley. But let's see where that goes for the cobs on Saturday mentioned this earlier Jacob Webb entered in the eighth inning to runners on no outs to run lead. He gave a back to back singles gave got a strike out and they gave up a three run homer. Pretty rough line. Not great. Do you guys? Oh, if you had to guess who gets to sit next save for the cobs. Is it is it Webb again? You think they go to Caleb Thielbar? I would not have a lot of confidence in it being Webb after this outing. Yeah. And not just this outing. He's been shaky in general. I'd stay away from that one. Honestly. It's tough because the cobs are supposed to be a good team, right? Like they should win a decent amount of games, but yeah, I just think it's a wild goose chase. A big waste of fab dollars if you play in such a league for the nationals on Saturday. Clayton Beater got the ninth with a two run lead. He allowed a run on a hit and two walks, but he picked up his fifth save. It's mostly a combo of Beater and Gus Farland. Sometimes another random the nationals do not have a closer and they never will ever again. It's the Marlins last year all over again. It's a team that was not supposed to compete so they invested nothing in their bullpen suddenly competing a little more than they expected in the first year of like a analytically inclined management group. And so yeah, they're just not going to have a closer because they don't have anybody good enough and they're going to just play match ups. I think this might be a team if they keep on this upward trajectory that goes out and adds a closer like the Marlins did, but I like to have one right now. Let's see where they stand right now. They are around 500 right? Yeah. Half a game out of a wild card's bar right now, but obviously there's so much time to go and there are a bunch of teams that are writing that mix in the in the national league. For the Rockies on Saturday, and Hill got the final two outs for his second save. He has the last two saves for the Rockies. It's the Rockies. Doesn't matter. Not to me for the Reds on Sunday, Tony Santi and tossed two perfect innings for his fifth save, but it sounds like Emilio Pagan could be back soon for the White Sox on Sunday. Grant Taylor got the eighth with a two run lead. He allowed a solo homer and then a walk. Sorry, I need to Mingus got the ninth with a one run lead. He got the first two outs, then allowed three straight singles to tie the game. One of them being with two outs. The first better to reach was an infield single that I believe was like challenge and overturned. So pretty, pretty rough go there for the White Sox, but I don't know. It's kind of been a little back and forth. You guys have a feel for the White Sox ball pen right now. I think Grant Taylor's the one you ultimately want. I agree. I don't know if that means he gets the next save though. Right. Right. It's it's gotten really messy, but Grant Taylor's better. And I think trends are for him entering that role. It's just they're not willing to commit to it yet. I think he leaves the team and saves the rest of the way. Grant Taylor, that is. Grant Taylor, yes. Yeah. On Sunday for the twins, Yoentries Gomez pitching the eighth inning, facing the heart of the Dbacks lineup. He walked one, but got out of it left the Anthony Banda got the ninth with a two run lead. He struck out one for his second save. I still think Gomez is their highest leverage guy, most likely to get the next save opportunity. But the twins will, you know, deploy him a little bit earlier whenever they feel the need to do so. And for the angels on Sunday, Sam Bachman got the ninth with a two run lead. He picked up his first save Kirby, eights pitch, both Friday and Saturday. So likely unavailable. Yates has been better as of late. Do you guys think gets the next save for the angels? Sam Bachman or Kirby, eights? And it Bachman's been their best reliever. I'll see. season. We haven't seen, they haven't seemed to the least bit interested in putting them in the closer role until, well, he got the save Sunday. So maybe they're more open to the idea, but I think it's, like I can't confidently say that's gonna happen, you know, and the angels are pretty bad anyway. They are really bad. To stream or not to stream on Monday, we have Eric Lauer at the twins, Debbie Matthews against the Dodgers, Anthony K. against the Guardians, Merrill Kelly at the Cardinals, Andre Pellante against the D-backs and Grant Holmes at the Padres. Probably Pellante would be my top choice there in the Anthony K, but I'm not sure either is one with I could see five good endings from Grant Holmes. Yeah. Well, he hasn't been doing that much. No. Just man, it's that Padres team, right? They have struggled. I would probably go Pellante, K and Grant Holmes in that order from Monday. Then on Tuesday, we have Peter Lambert at the Blue Jays, Mitch Keller against the Mariners, Zach Latel against the Phillies, Sean Burke against the Guardians, Kyle Leahy against the D-backs, Shane Boz at the Angels, J.R. Richie at the Padres. Burke seems like a pretty easy call coming off the start he had and the Guardians line up in its current state. Let's hope they stick with an opener, right? They how well that went. Yeah. Burke did follow an opener last time. I was Shane Boz at the Angels there without trout. Yeah. So that should go okay. They were both among my weekly streamers for this week. I think Lambert could be okay. Blue Jays line, I'm not very good. Yeah. That's probably the third choice. J.R. Richie is at the Padres, but I don't have any faith in him to deliver a worthwhile outing. Agreed. So Tuesday, we have Burke, Shane Boz and Peter Lambert in that order.
