So it's, it's not a loss cause even if you have show Heyo, Tony, you know, I'm not saying every small lineup head to head league needs to pick up Eldridge, but anything that goes deep into the hitter pool, you mentioned he's only 30% rostered. He should probably be twice that roster now. Yeah, the rest of the giants, well, most of the rest of the giants had really good games on Sunday as well. That's what you're supposed to do when you're facing the Rockies in Corsfield. Casey Schmidt, Rafael Devers, Willie Adames, Junghu Lee and Bryce Eldridge all had at least three hits, special shouts to Junghu Lee, who returned from his back injury on Friday, and went 11 for 15 with three extra bass hits across three games in the series, raising his season batting average from 268 to 304 in one series. We are still at that point when you can do all that in one series. I also want to do a special bonus, oh my goodness gracious player of the weekend because something gigantic happened this weekend. It was Fernando Mania. Fernando Mania. Fernando Mania. The Fernando Mania was just unbelievable. I Fernando Tatees finally hit a home run and I just had to pull some Fernando Mania audio out because boy, that was a, it was a bomb. It was a, it was a whole run that that felt like a long time coming. It felt like letting some frustration out on that one. He hit it 451 feet. That was part of three straight multi hit games for Fernando Tatees. Of course, it was his only extra bass hit among those three multi hit games. So we are still waiting for the power to officially show up. But for those of you watching along on the YouTube stream, I do want to show this because I looked up, this is Fernando Tatees's stance from the home run that he hit. You can see if you're looking, it's big wide open stance. He's going to take a big leg kick to get into it. That's what he looked like before this season. Now the next one is what he looked like on its random fly ball in April and his stance was way more closed off. And the issue for Fernando Tatees has been a failure to pull the ball in the air with authority. And so I, my thought all along has just been, this is a mechanical issue for Tatees. He has not lost the ability to hit for power. We still have elite bat speed, elite quality of contact metrics. He just hits the ball into the ground too much. And so hopefully this is the start of him, maybe beginning to figure it out. Just one home run. But I think he will be awesome moving forward. I'm going to take the one home run as a sign that he is figuring it out. And he definitely pulled that one. He pulled it 451 feet. And you don't really see a pulled ball down the line like that hit that far. Yeah. Yeah. And you're right. I mean, I wrote about this last week when I wrote about, what did I call that article? 15 players. You should have given up on or something like that. Kind of him and Vladimir Guerrero are in the same boat. And they've always had this problem, which is why their expected stats look better than their actual ones. They waste a lot of their hard contact on the ground into the opposite field. It's just, it's kind of been exaggerated. That effect, especially in Tatees' case. But the actual ability is still there. And so it seemed like only a matter of time before he uncorked one, as they say. And hopefully it is the first of many. Well, I think there are limits to how many Tom runs, Tatees, Good Hit in the season. But hopefully it's the first of a couple dozen at least. I would guess a 25 home or pace the rest of the way. At the very least. Yeah, that'd be great. Now I also want to point out not to throw off your run down or anything that you work so hard on, Chris, but Ronald Acunia had a, yeah, a big power awakening this weekend to five home runs in his last four games. Good timing for our, we are not worried about Fernando Tatees segment that we did on what was that Friday. Yeah. I do have that a little later on. Yes, homerid in four straight games, including Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Love to see that from Ronald Acunia. We will have a little more on that a little later. And Frank will be back tomorrow and we are happy to have him back and we'll be back right after this break. All right. Welcome back to FBT news and notes and unfortunately, Ellie, the crew's left Sundays game with hamstring tightness and we'll have testing done on Monday. The reds downplay the injury, but my hope here is honestly, I hope he goes on the aisle. He has been so good this season and I just don't want a repeat of last year where he had that quad strain and played through it for the final two months of the season. It totally wrecked his overall numbers. I would just rather than he's the kind of guy that wants to be in line up every day. He's going to push for it. I would rather the reds just sit him down for two weeks, let him get right no matter how minimal the injury is because Ellie, the other crew's has mostly lived up to our expectations this season and it would be a bummer to see an injury wreck a second season in a row. It looked pretty bad, so I would be surprised if he didn't go on the aisle. He hit one in the gap. It looked like extra bass is easily and he had to pull up at first base because he just couldn't run anymore. He was able to walk off the field, but you could see a cramp doing that but the fact that they're saying they're going to do testing, they would have rolled out a cramp by now. So I would be surprised if Ellie, Dale, the crew's didn't go on the aisle. I would definitely leave a man in my line up for Monday. Matt McClain seems like a natural choice to slide over to shortstop. Spencer Stier has been playing a little more at second base to Matt McClain's loss. So we could see both of those guys in the line. Spencer Stier, I believe, did gain second base eligibility recently. Another one, we talked about it last week. Senses second base, kind of in better shape than we expected with a handful of guys gaining eligibility. So that's been nice. Chris, Chris, he has had his throwing program paused due to tightness in his lap over the past few days. Chris, he was scheduled to face hitters in live BP on Tuesday and it's not clear how much this will impact his timetable to return from shoulder inflammation. But just another reminder that when Garak, Chris, he went on the aisle, all the quotes were, it's just like my shoulders just a little weak, but there's no structural damage. It's like, pitcher injuries are rarely not more serious than you fear. Unfortunately, an injury that was a little more serious. Connor Griffin was placed on the 10 day IL with right flex or tendon strain. He is expected to miss just the minimum time on the IL. He had been serving as a DH. They just wanted to get him fully recovered. What was interesting though is Marcel Azuna set out four straight games while Griffin was serving as DH and then when Ryan or her in return from the IL on Sunday. Seems like a bad sign for Azuna who might just be finished. He's got an OPS below 600 again this season. Yuri Perez unfortunately will miss at least eight weeks with the strain with a strain on the inside of his right thigh. Just when it started to look like he might be figuring it out too. He was awesome in fornings before the injury. Good start before that. That's frustrating eight weeks. Seem in the second half. I started the season almost as long. They gave the injury a name that I never heard before. Yeah. Forcillis I think is what it is. It's a muscle that runs along the inside of your thigh. I like the specificity. It's weird because like some teams like you see this will like the a doctor injury. Someone will talk about someone with an a doctor injury. I can't remember who. It will be a surprise for everyone. Some teams say it's an a doctor strain. And some teams say it's a groin strain. It's the same thing. It just depends on what the team wants to call it. You get that where some teams just use a little more specific terminology. Some teams just if they didn't have to give you any information they would not. And I think the Marlins seem to be willing to give us some information. Lower body. Yeah. Speaking of the Marlins, the hits just keep coming as Janssen Junk was placed on the I.O. with right shin inflammation after he was hit by a comeback or during his most recent start. It probably won't be a long term issue, but man, that's a lot of injuries for the Marlins rotation again. Opportunities have been there for Thomas White.
but he's on the IL with a shoulder injury. Opportunities have been there for Brax and Garrett. He did not take advantage of them. Walked three and four innings in his return at two AAA this week. So not sure he's going to get the call either. Frankly, not sure what the Marlins are going to do, but Robbie's selling already out for the year. Gary Perez gone for two weeks, two months. Janssen junk a couple of weeks. - I wonder. - Not great. - I wonder if they would entertain the possibility of promoting what I think is the biggest starting pitcher breakout in the mind this year. Carson Millbrant, straight from AA, he is 22 years old and-- - For the first round pick, right? - In nine starts, he has a 134-ERA, a 1-Whip, 13.4, Cape, or nine, swinging strike rate through the roof. A really impressive prospect. Would they have him skip AAA? I mean, desperate times. Obviously, he might be too big of an asset to act with that level of desperation, but we do see teams do that sometimes with big prospects. So just a name to keep an eye on. Carson Millbrant, that's Carson with the K. - All right, a couple of prospect promotions. One of them unfortunately came with Moodetakamirakami being placed on the I.L. with a hamstring injury. He's expected to cost him at least a month, potentially up to six weeks, to grade two hamstring strain for him. The White Sucks did call up infield prospect, Jacob Gonzalez to replace him. And Gonzalez is a former first-round pick who had been pretty bad entering this season, but all of a sudden, he's got 19 homers in 52 games at AAA this season. I think he's stolen eight bases to the underlying numbers, mostly look pretty good. There's some interest level, I think here, for Jacob Gonzalez based on how he's played, right? - Yeah, I featured him in the prospect report a couple of weeks ago. And you say the underlying numbers look pretty good. I mean, exit velocities are high, especially the highest index of velocities, show legitimate power there. Zone contact rates very high. So it's not like he has those kind of sneaky plate discipline concerns that, okay, his walks and strikeouts look okay, but you dig a little deeper and maybe not so much. It all looks pretty good. I don't know that Jacob Gonzalez is going to end up playing enough to be of great interest in fantasy. Luis on Helikunia could get more playing time instead. Though Gonzalez was in the lineup on Sunday. Yeah, it's gonna depend somewhat on how he performs. I did not end up picking or even placing a bid on Gonzalez and my 15 teamers, though I did at least think about it. - All right, Roman Anthony has been shut down yet again, he continues to deal with discomfort when he tries to swing. He's been dealing with finger and wrist soreness for a while. And hasn't had enough fall starts in his recovery. That I don't think you can just expect him to be back in the next couple of weeks at this point. This just keeps going on for him. Michael Garcia less Saturdays game with a hamstring injury was out of the lineup Sunday. He hasn't been placed on the IL yet, but would lean towards not starting him this weekend if I have an alternative, right? - Yep. - All right, Tiasca Hernandez was diagnosed with a grade one left hamstring strain. He was placed on the IL recently. I did note this one just because the Dodgers did seemingly pass on James Tibs that promoted Ryan Ward from Triple-Instead. That is because Tibs has been dealing with a forearm injury over the past four weeks that has limited him largely to DH situations. He hasn't really been affected as a hitter. - No. - But he's home very every day, it seems like. - Yeah, I guess they just didn't wanna, I mean, if he can't play the field, there's no way from the plan to the Dodgers. So that might explain that frustrating situation. We had a couple of weird situations around the league this weekend. Hazard Sanchez was pulled from Sunday's game with a right-risk contusion after a fan threw a ball at him. The fan apparently thought Sanchez asked him to throw a ball and Sanchez turned away and didn't see it. It was a kid. I think my initial reaction was, oh, some fan was being a jerk. Apparently that was not the case. It was just a kid and there was some misunderstanding. But that is frustrating for Sanchez. He looked to be in a lot of pain when that ball hit him. And then on the pirate side, Carmen Maginski was placed on the restricted list on Sunday after it was apparently upset about being removed from the rotation in favor of Jared Jones. The team did say they expect Maginski to pitch out of the bullpen moving forward. I don't know if that's a Maginski has agreed to pitch out of the bullpen or, well, he's gonna have to. But yeah, he was pulled out of the rotation when Jared Jones came back and was not happy. So puts his status with the team in question. Moving. - I think pitchers with 1.42 whips should go where they're told. - Controversial take. - I mean, his ERA is not bad, but I think that's fair. - Yeah. - White Langford began his rehab assignment. Saturday at Triple L, could be close to finally returning from a foreign injury that has been troubling him since late April. Jose Altuve could come back from his oblique injury without a minor league rehab assignment which could shorten his return time, but it would make me a little scared about how he's actually going to perform. Coming back from that injury, obliques are, can be seasoned records and not getting the right amount of time before coming back can be a little scary. Hutter Brown struck out five and allowed one run over three innings in his second minor league rehab start. Got up to 44 pitches in this one. So gonna say there's a few turns left in the rotation before he's ready, but should be back in a couple of weeks at least Luis Severino was placed on the I.L. with a right shoulder sprain after leaving Friday, start after one inning. I thought Jack Perkins could be a name to watch here. Scott, I know you're a pretty big Jack Perkins fan, but he got up to 63 pitches in his penultimate appearance and then they used him for 14 pitches on Saturday after Severino's injury. So I'm not sure what the plan is for Jack Perkins who at one point seem to be in the closer role. They seem to have wanted to stretch him out at times and just kind of don't get what the plan is for Jack Perkins, but yeah. I don't know either. And I guess we'll find out together. I don't have much to add beyond that. Time, Adam will come off the I.L. to pitch Monday against the race for the Tigers, either as a starter or a broker-leaver. He missed just about two weeks after getting hit by a line drive on his forearm. Dylan sees through a bullpen session on Saturday, unclear what the next step is, but it shouldn't be out too much longer. JT Ramuta left Sunday's game against the Dodger. If they left risk contusion, he tried to play through it, but was unable. Jacob Lopez was option to triple A on Sunday, 675 year in the season. He was pretty effective last season, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that gives Gage jump a decent amount of job security, right? I would think so. I mean, as long as you pitch as well. Yeah. His first start in a, I think you'd have to say it wasn't good. It didn't really improve the athletics chance of winning. There were some good signs under the hood there that makes me hopeful for Gage jump. But yeah, it helps. It helps if he does pitch well. It's not like he's gonna be forced out anytime soon by crowding between that and the Severino injury. All right, Bailey Ober was placed on the IL with right elbow inflammation after he was hit hard by the pirates on Saturday. He'll miss at least two weeks. And this is why you can't draft hard throwing pitchers. They get hurt. The Giants promoted infielder Jonah Cox all the way from double A Richmond. The Giants are, say what you want about Buster Posey, but he will press a button at the very least. He's just gonna try things out. Jonah Cox, 24 year old, so a little old for double A, but he was hitting 400 with a 1100 OPS and 27 steals at double A. Any interest in this guy? - This is the first time hearing of it. - Yeah, it's a pretty low end guy, but he's had a huge season. I mean, inflated, inflated Babbit. He's cut the strikeout rate this season. There's a little pop, but for the most part, I think you're looking at speed and batting average. - A lot of extra bass hits. - I don't know. I mean, I am generally of the belief that anybody who is putting up numbers like that ought not to be ignored. And even if you can find, even if you can nitpick, you know? Like a lot of there are a lot of odd ball cases out there that justify conventional thinking. And we don't have stack-ass data for Jonah Cox since he didn't make it to triple A. So that makes it a little harder to draw firm conclusions. But God has banned 400 through 44 games with a ton of steals and extra bass hits if they even enough playing time. Sure, all. - And Jonah Cox of the Giants. Jess Chisholm sat out against a lefty twice in the past week, just something to keep an eye on there. On how Martinez was out of the lineup Sunday after having an MRI in his foot. It's an injury that has been bothering him for a few weeks. Dylan Cruz was hit on the hand by a pitch Saturday was scratched from Sunday's lineup. Ryan Hellsley completed a bullpen session Saturday without issue as he works his way back from elbow inflammation. Corey Seager is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment this week as he returns from back inflammation. Justin Verlander will make a minor league rehab start Tuesday at triple A. Sit down, Raphael. I was scratched with lower back soreness on Sunday. Evan Carter was hit by a pitch on his foot Friday as line up Saturday and Sunday. Max Muncie begins to minor league rehab assignment Saturday.
That's the one on the athletics. He works his way back from a fractured finger. That's just kept him out since April. Casey Meyers was placed on the 15 day I.O. with a right, a doctor inflammation. That's the one that's just growing. Nick Povetta still hasn't thrown since going on the I.O. with a right flexor strain in mid April. We are probably looking at at least the All Star break in a best case scenario for him. And Joe Musgrove will likely begin a throw in progression this week as he works his way back from Tommy John's surgery. He was throwing in their spring training and then got shut down for basically two months. But at least this puts him on some kind of timetable to return in the early second half. Jackson Job has begun throwing bullpen sessions as he works his way back from Tommy John's surgery. Probably still looking at a late summer for him but could be in August or September name. Tyler Mallee was placed on the 15 day I.O. I.O. Friday with a hamstring injury to make room for looking web. Harrison Bader went on the I.O. with plantar fasciitis. The Reds lost both Pierce Johnson and Graham Ashcraft to elbow injuries this week. Graham Ashcraft just straight to the 68 day I.O. with a UCL spring. So he's going to miss at least two months, potentially a lot more. Tony said to you, right? I mean, it's just there's nobody else. It's just got to be. They brought him in for a save on Sunday and he couldn't complete the ending. He had to be bailed out by Sam Moll in the LL. Is that how you say that name? So it's there are no good. Yeah, I think Tony Santian actually is how you say the name, which I just learned today. But yeah, it sounds like he's the best choice of bad of the bad choices. And if you want a bad closer, he's somebody you could look toward. All right, Shamanaya will get a chance to work as a bulk reliever behind an opener on Monday. He's replacing David Peterson in the team's rotation. And notice Peterson got one of those long saves on Sunday. The met to beat the Marlins 10 to one. So that was nice for him. Quinn Priester's next rehab start will be at the Arizona Complex League, which doesn't make me super optimistic about his chances of returning from the Raskow outlet syndrome. Without surgery, his velocity is way down. He's been really bad. The Dodgers option high sun Kim to triple A on Friday. And Tommy Edmond began his rehab assignment this week and has played second base and center field so far. I think he played seven innings at center field on Sunday. I saw he's likely at least a few more weeks away. So Santiago Espinal was called up. But just a name to keep in mind, Tommy Edmond has been a very relevant fantasy player in the past. Any interest in Tommy Edmond at this point? 10, zero, non zero. He stopped stealing bases almost completely last year. And that's obviously what he's most valuable attribute is. So he'd have to start doing that again to matter. I got to think the ankle surgery could help at least in a hurry. It could. But he was coming back from ankle surgery last year too. It's because he's part of the Dodgers lineup and has a history of being useful in fantasy. I'm at least keeping, keeping Tommy Edmond in my thoughts. All right. Prospect news. Ethan Holiday will have season ending surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot. He actually had a pretty good season at single add. I don't know why I wrote triple A, heading 262 with 395 bet on base 557 slug nine homers. Guy who had some pretty big hit tool questions despite his high draft status. So I think he helped us stock. Before the injury, right? This is an exhaustive news and notes section. I mean, I have to say you know, no stone left unturned here. Well, you know, all right. Frank usually does it. Okay. I'm not as good as him. All right. Well, that's it for the news. You can cut off the last news item because it's going to go. Terry Carpenter's back. Terry Carpenter is back from his shoulder injury. And that is it for news and notes. We're going to take one more break. Then we'll get to everything else you need to know from this weekend. We'll be right back on fancy baseball today. Okay. Okay. And if you're going to wear a red jacket, wear a red jacket. Okay. Valmina. Yeah. And Alka. Kanna Kestemyus. Resistance. Melchain. Towson final boss. Resilience. Yes. Good. To take a breath there, Chris. Take a little sip of water. Back with fantasy baseball today and more news and none of them just joke. We are going to get to the biggest performances from this weekend. And I want to start with some way for our pictures and Scott. I want you to rank the following pictures. We'll go through their performances and then I want you to rank them because they're all about 70% ish rostered. And I think some of them need to be higher. Ben Brown. Seven innings, three hits, one on run, one walk, six strikeouts against the Cardinals. He finishes May with a 186 ERA 31 strikeouts to eight walks. Jared Jones did make his return. He was against the twins and it wasn't great. Four and a third inning, seven hits, five on runs, two walks, six strikeouts. Velocity was up especially early on. He averaged like 100.6 miles per hour with his fastball in the first inning. And then we saw what we saw a lot with him in 2024 where the velocity flagged as the start went on. I think I looked it up. Him and Hunter Green had the biggest drop between their first inning velocity and their fifth inning velocity of any pitcher in 2024. I don't know how much that matters. Hunter Green's pretty good despite that. But that was something I noticed. 15 total whiffs at least two on each pitch. So that was pretty good. Jack Leiter struck out 10. He'll do that occasionally. Two May starts with 10 strikeouts and then two with five or fewer. Rokis Sasaki, 74% roster. He had eight whiffs on his four seamer. Sitting at 98.5 miles per hour with it with an extra inch of movement in both planes. His IVB is up to like 17 inches on the four seamer. Sitting at 99. That's pretty good. He had eight whiffs of it. 18 whiffs overall. Seven strikeouts and five and a third against the Phillies. Then we had Zebi Matthews who did come back down to Earth. He's 70% rostered. Seven run. Seven strikeouts still 14 whiffs. Performance metrics were better than the line suggests, but obviously a bad line. How would you rank Ben Brown, Jared Jones, Jack Leiter and Rokis Sasaki and Zebi Matthews if they're all available in your league? Well the top two are Ben Brown and Jared Jones. There are the two that need to be rostered everywhere. Ben Brown just keeps looking better. He's going deeper with every star. Five innings, then six innings and seven innings in this latest one. All three were like right around 82 pitches. Yeah, it's been 82 and 83 pitches every time. Yeah, which is kind of funny, but still going seven innings mean that they trust them to face a line up the third time. I mean, I think it's a big deal. Yeah, there's two questions about how long a pitcher is going to pitch. Can they physically do it and then can they get hitters out a third time? He's only answered one of those questions, but it's not nothing. Yeah, no, I'm definitely encouraged Ben Brown's most roster. And Jared Jones is too as well. You know, average, I, you're saying he lost some velocity over the course of the four and a third innings, but average 99 on the fastball had averaged out to nine. 99, which was harder than we saw him throwing his rookie. And I think very encouraging the 15 whiffs you mentioned for Jared Jones. That was on only 77 pitches, which is an absurd swing strike rate of, if I can type in the numbers correctly, 19.5%. So I'm encouraged. I understand the result wasn't great, but I went, I kept Jared Jones. Among my sleeper pitchers for the upcoming week, even with the Astros on the schedule, because I thought there were clear signs of dominance there. Okay, after those two, the, the other three are kind of as rostrible as their last start. So Jack Leiter, I think, is, is the one who I would, and deeper leagues might be pretty secure regardless of what his last start looked like. Obviously his last start was pretty good. Double digit strikeouts is volatile, but he has bad missing ability and schedule lines out pretty well for him to versus Cleveland at Boston versus Minnesota and his next, and then probably at Miami. So next four starts for Jared Leiter, Prima and Precipces, they hold up. Looks pretty good if you're able to play the matchups with him. About Roki Sasaki, I would probably move ahead of Zebby Matthews now, again, just based on their last start. Zebby Matthews, it, it, it seems like the less he throws the fastball, the worse it goes for him. And got away with it and his previous starts was technically a quality start just barely. But then this time he got knocked around pretty good. Still a good with total. There's still some encouraging signs there for Zebby Matthews, but five hard hit balls. So not, yeah, faster that the line would indicate.
Baroque Sasaki, he really seems to be on it upward, Trent here. I'm kind of excited. Last three starts are clearly his best start. Three is a major leager. And in this particular start, he threw 14 fastballs, 99 miles per hour more. On average, everything was up one to one and a half miles per hour. But for him specifically, that fastball has to be a certain velocity, very high velocity for him to be effective with it. And the control has been better. Dave Roberts says he thinks this is sustainable. I'm not saying everybody needs to pick up Sasaki everywhere because even though the last three starts have been his best three, they haven't been like, oh, I wish I had that in my lineup, necessarily, that level of good. But I see the good in him. You know, who said that about who in Star Wars? Luke Skywalker about Darth Vader. Yeah, of course. He's like talking to Leia, I think. He's the good in him. Yeah. Yeah. We're trying to get in Roque's Sasaki. I'm just calling him Darth Vader, you know, casually. But no, I really think the harder splitter has kind of been like a turning point for Roque Sasaki because he had this big fork ball that generated a ton of whiffs, but he had no idea where it was going. He starts throwing this harder splitter. He still has the slower fork ball. And I think just the whole arsenal starting to fit together better. And it gives him three swing and mispitches if the four seemers not as good as it was on Sunday. If it is, he could be really good. But we have, we've only seen one start really where the four seemer looked like that. So don't want to get ahead of myself. But I'm pretty excited about Sasaki. He's looked very good, I think, over the past three weeks. Let's rank these two pictures. If you're in a deeper league and they are available, Tatsuya Imi or JT again, Tatsuya Imi, I think was actually probably better even than in the no hitter. This time out, he struck out five over six innings, only give up two on runs, two walks. Since returning from the IL, it's 15 strikeouts to nine walks and 22 thirds innings. Slider was different in this start. It had about three inches, a less arm side break. Remember, you usually throw the slider with the glove side break, what makes Tatsuya Imi so wacky is the slider breaks the opposite way. It was a little more closer to the midway point, a two inch arm side break on a slider would still be, I think, just him and Trey a savage are the only starting pictures who do that. But I wonder if that just helps him command the pitch a little better. And then JT again, another really good start against the Yankees, six shut out innings, three walks, four strikeouts. I think you may with a 260 ERA, 33 strikeouts and 34 and two thirds innings, but 17 walks in those 34 innings. 11 came across two starts. So I don't know what to make of that. I think JT again is the better pitcher here though. I think he's more useful for fantasy, certainly. I mean, if we're celebrating the improved control from a my and a start where he's still through less than 60% of his pitches for strikes, then we got some problems there that I don't think. I'm not convinced he's cleared that hurdle by any stretch. And JT again, I mean, I break it down a little differently. Obviously he does, it's not the same talent level as a my, but so four of his last five starts have been great. Previous one against the Padres, only made it two and a third innings, walks six. It was clearly an outlier starting all the worst ways, but the other four surrounding that have been genuinely great, often working deep into those starts. He's a good ground ball pitcher with some ability to miss bats. And I think he's, I think he's very streamable at the very least. Let me see who he's facing this way. He's facing the Astros. So it's it want to be. I don't have them among the sleeper pitcher for this week, but it's, you could do worse than JT again. Yeah, that's one. If you're not an average, happens to be getting a day off, it's a really good matchup. If not, they're like roughly middle to pack, but he can really hurry. So that's kind of where we are with the Astros. Yeah, I would prioritize JT again over a touch of you, my if both are available. Yeah, yeah, definitely. Okay, let's go to the third tier of waiver wire pitchers. These are all guys ranked it, rostered in 38% of leagues or fewer. And we will go a little more rapid fire. Robert Arrania had six innings of one-earned ball against the Toronto Blue Jays. Troy Melton, one-earned run over seven innings. He's getting one strikeout though. He's getting good results, but not missing any bats at all. Christian Scott, good start against the Marlins. Five innings, one-earned run, eight strikeouts. We've got a lot of whiffs on the sweeper and four-seamer. Cater Monterey just continues to be pretty solid. Six-shut-out innings against the white socks. Brian Beo has been very good since the Red Sox transition Tim to a bulk reliever role. He's still pitching a starter's workload. He went seven innings against Cleveland on Friday. Five strikeouts, no-earned runs. Kamar Rocker, scoreless in three of his last four, went six-shut-out innings in this one. Three walks to strikeouts. Anthony K. White socks versus Tigers went five-one-earned innings. Has a 195-earned in-may. And Brandon Young had a very effective start against the Blue Jays. Two-eighties-six-earned in five-may starts. He had seven strikeouts and six-and-two-thirds. I don't know. You want to break them up into smaller groups here. You want to just give me your three favorites from this group. These are all guys available in 60% of leagues or more. Yeah, one of these things-- Four of your three favorites. One of these things is not like the others in its Walbert arena. Okay. I understand roster-wise he fits in this group. I think he's better than this. His ground ball skills are about as good as it gets. He has a legit whiff pitch in that changeup, which he throws a ton. And it's just been one good start after another. They've tended to be short, but this one with six innings seems like that's happening more regularly. Arania is scheduled to face the-- Hang on, who's he facing? He's facing the Rockies, right? No. Who's he facing? He is facing the-- I was at the Dodgers now. I'm trying to find it for you. I think it's the Dodgers. That would not be great. Walbert, Arania-- no, he gets the Rockies. He does get the Rockies. On the road. So-- Yeah, I'll catch field. I don't have to change my sleeper pitcher's article. Yeah. He has as good of a matchup as you could ask for this week, the Rockies away from course field. So that's even-- Even if you're thinking short-term, Walbert Aranie is the one to have here. I do think there are some encouraging signs here for Christian Scott. There's one home man on the four-seamer and sweeper, 80% of his pitches, got nine of his 11 whiffs on those two pitches. Yeah. Yep. So he's getting some whiffs there and that I think is obviously the best skill a pitcher can have. But there's a lot to be sorted out. I feel like other than Arania, the strength here aren't totally fleshed out for this group. If I had to pick a third, Melton had good strikeout numbers in the minors. But there's a popular breakout in seven innings in this start. And that's not an isolated incident. He's just not missing bats like he was in the minors. Maybe it would change, but I need to see some evidence before I trust him. My fantasy lineup-- I do like what Bayo's been doing, but the problem is he would be much more trustworthy in a points league. And with the role-- He's feeling right now can't get a quality star. That might not matter. In some points league formats, but standard CBS, it does. K, I don't trust it all Anthony K, because he still has-- even though he's managed to keep runs off the board and may especially, the X-Fip is still 563. Yeah. I guess I'll go Bayo by default, but it's not a strong endorsement. All right. And then we had some potential wave of our pitchers, or at least guys who have been interesting lately who sad trombone noise for all these three guys. Stephen Kallack gave up four-on runs over five innings against the Rangers, one start after his-- was that a complete game shut out? That Kallack-- It was. Yeah. Which some would say is redundant. But I tend to say complete game shut out too, because some people just say he shut them out of over six innings. And the language has gotten confused. But technically, you can't get a shut out unless it's also a complete game. So was a complete game shut out for Stephen Kallack last time, not this time. Kai Wei Tang, three-on-runs over five innings. He just doesn't have-- he misses bat, especially with the sweeper, but he just doesn't have the control. And I think he's not there yet. Brandon Sprout, his velocity was down one to 1.5 mile per hour across the board. Only five whiffs give up four-on-runs over four-on-a-third innings against the Astros. No quality starts since April 16th. I know he's young, and there's some interesting swing and miss upside. But--
But I do not think Brandon Sprout needs to be rostered in fantasy right now. What do you think? A grade. And then Spencer Miles and other had been some mild interests six year in runs over three innings. We can go ahead and write him off. Speaking of writing off in the words of, I think it was Gina Smith who said it in a post-game interview after a game once they wrote me off. Ain't right back though. You mentioned Ronald and Akunya. Nobody was actually writing him off and maybe one or two people, but good times. Some people. As we mentioned for our not worried about Ronald Akunya, he homer than four straight games with five overall in that span. He now has seven on the season after entering that span with two past four games. He went six for 13 with five home runs nine RBI five runs seven walks and one steal for good measure. That's a pretty good four game run for Ronald Akunya. Sharon Durand. I was critical of Sharon Durand recently and he homer sat at and Sunday finished May with nine homers eight over his, oh, sorry, nine homers. I think it's four over the past six games, but also a 29% strikeout rate in the month of May. He is getting a ton of played appearances. I think it was like 130 played appearances in the month, but striking out a lot including eight over his past four games. Where are you at on Sharon Durand? I don't think you were on the podcast when Frank and I were talking about Durand. I think he's going to be fine. Now whether fine is more like 2024 or 2025, I think still needs to be sorted out. I would guess closer to 2025 than the second round type performer he was two years ago. But everything under the hood looks about the same. The strikeout rate is a little bit elevated. Yeah, that's the biggest thing. But not in a way that really concerns me. Obviously you're going to see ups and downs in every statistic. And you know, the performances started to catch up. Obviously, there was the platoon concern at the start of the year. That was the biggest issue with Jandran. But now that's gone. Yeah. Yeah. I know. I think he's, I, I, I worst a number three outfielder more likely to be a number two. All right, Ian Habt, homework for the third straight game on Friday added two more hits on Saturday for good measure, finished May 230 with like an 827 OPS. He does seem to be selling out for power. This is a contract. I believe for Ian Habt, 28.2% pulled air rates. We're seeing career best power numbers from him. But it's also led to a 32% strikeout rate. The issue seems to be primarily with his right handed swing. He has a 574 OPS, 34% strikeout rate against left handed pitching. And if you look on stack hast in the bat speed stuff, Ian Habt, they have a stat called ideal attack angle, I think is what the way they refer to it, ideal angle of attack. Yeah. And this is just the best angle to swing your bat to make contact with the ball. This as a right as a left handed hitter is 51% as a right handed hitter. It's 32.3%. So it just kind of seems like his right handed swing is just a little screwed up right now. It was 48% last season. So not sure what's going on there, but that was something I noticed with Ian Habt that might explain why it's been such a weird year for him. Tyler Soderstrom, three hits on Saturday, five for seven overall with a home run this weekend, seven game heading streak. Got the OPS in May closer to 800. Where you at on Tyler Soderstrom, it's been a frustrating follow up season. Yeah, he was one of the hitters in that article I put out last week. And I think there isn't enough there in the profile to be alarmed by. Let me see if I can reference what I wrote because that would make this a lot easier. But now I'm not finding it. I'll have to pull up his page. Yeah, I think my recollection is that Tyler Soderstrom, when you dig into his numbers, it doesn't look different enough from last year to really raise alarm bells. And he's pulling the ball in the air more. He's striking out less. He's walking more, the eggs of velocities down a little, but not within a range that would raise concerns. Really, bad speed, average bad speed looks the same. And it all pretty much looks the same. And so I think in the long run, you're going to see much better results from him. Yeah, he has struggled against lefties. Although even there, it's not like the strike, our eights, 17 strikeouts and 60 play appearances. That's not great, but it's like 28%. That's not so alarming. So his average of velocity against lefties 92 miles per hour. So I'm not too worried about Tyler Soderstrom yet. And then I saw some J.J. Blade is slowing down, talk in the comments. That's a rest, didn't they? Then he went six for 11 with two home runs and five RBI this weekend. I really think J.J. Blade might just be a real deal breakout. Yeah, I think we've been saying that all along. I understand he had what a week where he wasn't producing anymore, but he got to give him more time than that. Not every Mike Trout isn't good every week. You know, Aaron Judges isn't good every week. Like that happens. Right. J.J. Blade's probably worse than those guys. Probably, but he's got a better OPS than them right now. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Now, a blue day needs to remain rostered even in three outfield release. All right. I wanted some waiver wire hitters and I think the most interesting one, Curtis made only 34% rostered. Curtis Mead, I don't know why I said it like that, made, started five of the past seven games against right handed pitchers. That's been the thing. He's starting every game against lefties since day one, but he was barely playing against righties. He can't really be fantasy relevant as a short side platoon bat. Now he's starting to play every day Curtis Mead is and or pretty close to every day. His underlying numbers are excellent, 377, X-Wobba, 11.7% barrel rate, only string out 16% of the time. Some of that's probably coming from not facing righties as much, but he's actually been better against righties. So I don't actually know if that explains it. He's got 15 walks to 12 strikeouts against right handed pitchers. Curtis Mead might just be a little bit of a delayed breakout. It's giving me a little bit of Michael Bush vibes. Yeah. Me too. I am definitely intrigued. I like that sitting down Brady House opened up every day at bats for Mead, who was pretty big prospect in the race organization. I believe did it the race trade Christopher Sanchez to give that was Curtis Mead? Yes. I believe that was what that trade was. We don't bring that one up when we talk about the race. Everyone's like, oh, never trade with the race. I mean, maybe sometimes trade with the race. Most of the fillies, maybe, it might be okay. Yohande Morales at triple A, third baseman, corner infielder in general, but mostly played third base. He is going bonkers at triple A. Entering Sunday, it was a 349 batting average 12 home runs, 1027 OPS, huge exit velocities. Plague discipline issues under the hood, but the strikeout rate's okay. And at some point with numbers like that, they're going to have to give him a shot. But Curtis Mead's shown some defensive versatility. I wonder. He used to be a second baseman. He plays for us as well. And obviously Luis Garcia has been a second baseman too. He's played exclusively first this year. I mean, what did the nationals have to use to lose by shaking things up there? They're already playing CJ Abrams. A short stop. How much worse could it get? Unless he's randomly gotten better this year. And I wasn't made aware of it defensively. Nope. Range factor. Range. No bad. Range first percentile for CJ Abrams. So yes, still bad. All right. A couple of other guys. Brooks Lee, JP Crawford and Ezekiel Tovar are all homered twice in a game this weekend. So JP Crawford, Sneaky Lee, Ben, OK for the past month. Zee Gatovar obviously has been a must start player in the past. I was surprised that Brooks Lee 65% rostered. He just seems to go through like five game stretches where he's really good and then does nothing for two weeks and then has five good games. And I'm surprised his roster is that high. Caper Ruiz is 45% rostered. He had a huge May. If you want to play the hot hand, OBS over a thousand for a catcher. And then anything on Wade Mechler, besides the fact that he, I don't know, sounds like a character in an earnest movie. I don't know why that's what it made me think of. But he had a two hit game on Saturday. Has three two hit games since joining the Angels. Hitting 286 was two steals in nine games, playing pretty regularly. 292 career hitter at Triple A. Any reason for Wade Mechler to be on anyone's radar outside of A L only? I'm trying to think of a name of a character from an earnest movie. It's just besides earnest and verne. I'm not sure what Wade Mechler makes me think, but it makes me think of like Mechler. Weird 90s like straight to VHS movie. That's what I'm thinking. It does sound a little made up. No offense to Wade Mechler. I mean, really no offense to his parents. Okay. Uh, yeah. I, I, I think he is the same.
sort of hitter, Wade Mechler, who would have gotten a lot of traction in like the early mid 90s. Because very good contact skills here. It's just a profile, a non-speedster like that. It's just a profile you don't see, get much of a chance in the majors. And I'm not sure the playing time's going to be that regular, even with the angels. So I did give some thought to him in my deep five outfielder leagues ultimately didn't pull the trigger. But I kind of like him. It's just not a very modern, it's like Dave Magadinish. Yeah. Yeah. Dave Magadin. I remember that. That's a name. You got to shout out in the movie Little Big League. Walt Weiss. Would that be that type? Yeah. Kind offensively. I mean, Walt Weiss was a great defender of shortstop. I was just think I think Walt Weiss strong safety. I think Walt Weiss gets a shout out in the unauthorized bash bros experience by the lonely islands. That's why I wanted to bring that one up. Okay. For talking baseball players who were mentioned. Did we get hoodwinked, bamboozled even by these four pitchers who were varying degrees of great and have been varying degrees of extremely not great lately. Let's let's fire up the hoodwinkedometer for show, show to Imanaga who gave up five runs over five and a third this week only two strikeouts. That's three very poor starts in a row has the ERA up to 437 on the season. Eight homeers allowed across those three starts. He is struggling to command the fastball. 372 XERA tells you there's been some bad luck. I think if you give up eight home runs over three starts that there's generally just nobody's that bad forever. I think Shodim and Agan now is a biolocanidate but I also don't know how good he really is. Where are you at on Shodim? Yeah, it's I'm frustrated because it looked like I'd moved on. I'd moved it pretty close to my top 12 because he had so much he basically was that two years ago and then it had regained that velocity and then some it was dominating. Of course, he's a fly ball pitcher and there's risks with that but you know some fly ball pitchers are good. He's just gotten throttled by home runs here recently with eight in the last three starts. I think prior to that it was it was like 10 total or even that many well once it was it was five. So eight in his last three starts versus five in the previous nine. I think it's not going to be two to three home runs every start going forward but so I I think last time I said we had seen the high point and show to Imanaga ZERA this season wrong because it's higher now. Yeah. I'm saying it now. This is the high point in his ZERA this season 4.30. I just if he goes three innings and six innings with three runs allowed that's a quality start and you're lose next week. You know what? You got a risk. A prediction without risk is not even worth. So a zero on the hoodwinkedometer? No, I'm not okay. I didn't know we were doing this silly game. Hoodwinkedometer. No, I'm going to go I'm going to go no it's like it's like a five for Imanaga. I clearly I shouldn't have moved him into my top 12 but is he still top 24? I think so. Are you regretting moving knowing McLean in your top 12? I assume you had him in your top 12. I have him eighth. He has looked really shaky lately. This time he gave up only one hour and run against the Marlins. So it wasn't a terrible start but five walks to two strikeouts. That is 14 walks and 31 innings in the month of May. He's a weird pitcher because I was looking into it. He's got the highest call strike rate in baseball like 20%. I don't know if anybody even above 19% besides him. Hitters really don't swing very often. It's like a 43% swing rate against him which is very low. Yep. His zone rate is slightly down this season. Chase rate slightly up. I don't know if anything explains the walks here but he did have some elevated walk rates in the minors that we just kind of you know he was so good in those eight starts last year that I think we wrote it off a little bit but maybe we're starting to see that creep in a little bit. So I haven't dug into the data to see if it backs up this report but MLB.com the beat writer there said that the Mets had worked with Nolan McLean since his last start on getting his throwing his secondaries for strikes because I think what's happened to him as Major League hitters you know they may work for a while but they adjust you know obviously they're they're not just going to take it lying down they're going to try and figure out your weaknesses and they have learned to lay off those pitches and just tee off on the fastball. And four simmers getting crushed this season yeah four 31x moba. So that's an adjustment McLean is going to have to make back probably can how long is it going to take. That is the sort of thing that I don't think anybody can predict and it makes it okay so were we hoodwinked on Nolan McLean? I'm leaving like a six. Yeah I'm going to go a little higher on E. Managa because at least on Managa's issue is like you know that was in the back of your mind it could happen again for McLean. Yeah I I'm reluctant to move him down too far because I don't think the upside case has changed but we're seeing the downside now that we didn't necessarily know was there. We've had McLean I think ranked to have chase burns all along right yeah he's got to move behind burns I think you'd rather have burns right now right we just haven't seen any of that downside from burns really as a performance would you rather have Braxton Ashcraft. I would stick with Nolan McLean but it's kind of similar just excellent excellent breaking balls for both of them. That's an interesting one. Let's move on to Spencer Strider who still getting elite strikeouts but he give up three on runs on five hits five sorry three on runs over five innings seven hits walk to struck out eight still getting a ton of strikeouts but 17 walks so far in 31 innings two plus in every outing giving up a lot of home runs 377 year in 126 whip overall that feels pretty reasonable for Spencer Strider like that's kind of what I expect moving forward it's just been it's pretty up and down so far. Where we hoodwinked in which direction with sure. Sure. Strider that's how it feels to me. I just kind of don't know who he is anymore. I don't I don't know who you are anymore Spencer if he shaves his mustache again oh it's it's that would be upsetting it would be upsetting because we really want to know anyone even record remember how unrecognizable he was with that. Did you do that last year was that like you did that he did that in the second half last year. Okay I don't like it just for like a starter too but he looked like a different person anyway um I would say this was a step back for Spencer Strider and in a way that we wouldn't have necessarily seen coming entering the year because his previous start which I think was the most encouraging he threw his curveball 21% of the time is change of 14% of the time you got multiple whips on four different pitches. And the bringables have been excellent and very small samples this year or the secondaries all around. He pretty much went back to just fastball slider in this one classic Strider combo and uh I think it made him a little too hittable and so yeah I think he's good enough to be rostered and started basically every time out but he's still figuring out and we're still figuring out he's still figuring out what kind of pitchery is and we're still figuring out what that will look like statistically. We know there's going to be a lot of strikeouts but beyond that it's hard to say. Kind of feels the same about Ryan Weathers at this point uh I feel very good about the strikeouts he got 10 more of them on uh was that Saturday against the A's it wasn't Sacramento so that's worth noting but five earned runs over six and two thirds innings he struck out 10 walked three gave up three home runs second time in his past three starts he's given up multiple home runs he's had some just really bad home run starts so far um I'm not 100% sure where I land on Ryan Weathers at this point what do you think of Ryan Weathers great strikeouts best walk rate uh right on last year's walk rate still feels like the array is going to be just a little uglier than you might hope right so I don't know that anybody ever got as high on Ryan Weathers as the other ones we've talked about yeah and so it's like you know what do you expect from a top 50 starting pitcher I think if If that's your expectation for whether it's easy.
doing just fine. And I guess that's how I feel about him. I don't see him making a hugely beyond what he is now, but it's pretty useful. What he is now, I'm mostly just rooting for him to stay healthy, because I'll take a mid to high three ZRA with the amount of strikeouts he's giving you. All right, we're going to move through the leftovers a little quicker, because as always, I've timed things very poorly. If you want to ask, you jikimras, you're asking just to omin it, utter dominance again, zero on runs, eight strikeouts over seven innings. He had like a point to three ERA in the month of May with like eight thousand strikeouts in 40 something innings, I believe roughly. We talked about it last week, I think. You still have your injury concerns and I get that. Just we were going to get the same innings from everyone. Let's just stipulate that. How many pictures would you take ahead of jikimras, you're asking right now? It's definitely one. It's more than one. I think it might be two. I'm not sure if it's three. Yeah, well, I don't think it's just the health issue. I mean, yeah, we don't have the control of what the law better this year. You put me in a position where I have to speak negatively about Mizorowski again, which I don't want to do, because I think he's great. I think he's, I have an eighth rest of season. But it's, he hasn't proven he can be this good for longer than he's been this good now. Players tend to regress to the mean. Is there an established mean for Mizorowski yet? I suppose it's fair to argue that. That would be the positive case. But the mean, if you look at his minor league nerves, the guy walks a ton of batters. Now, he's throwing plenty of strikes this year. I don't necessarily think it's going to be a problem. But when you're talking about is he the best pitcher in fantasy or top two, top three? Well, you got to weigh downside risk. And I think there's a little more for him than for, for like a Chris sale, for instance, who of course could get hurt. But I don't think Mizorowski's immune to that. We have a better idea what a healthy Chris sale looks like. Then I think we do Mizorowski. All right. Kyle Bradish, good start. Seven innings, zero on runs, four strikeouts, three walks, still having some control issues. Three plus walks and four, six May starts, 16 walks and 35 innings. It's just been the one persistent problem, whether he's been good or bad. I still remain optimistic, hopeful, but it's hard to give him too much. I know you moved him down a lot, didn't you? I have moved you moved him down to like almost 40. If I remember correctly, Bradish, I have 50th. I actually have not given up on Will Warren and Ryan Weathers. I think I need to move him down more, but that's that's that sounds like too much for me personally, but I get it. Let's talk about Shane McClannahan. We talked about him on Friday. Just continues to be the issue. Five innings, one on run, excellent start. Seventy pitches. And if they're just not going to give him that opportunity, he's not going to be that valuable for fantasy. That's just the tough thing with Shane McClannahan. Sonny Gray struck out six over, start struck out seven over six one on run innings. He's got six strikeouts over his last four, twenty six strikeouts over his past four starts. Fifteen in his first six. The sweeper and curveball have been much better lately. He's got a three oh six ERA four thirty four X ERA. Where yet on Sonny Gray? I think it's an encouraging trend. He's on. He has. So it's it's basically three of his last four starts have been great. And what the three great ones have had in common is that he's thrown a sweeper, twenty percent or more of the time. And that was his that's been his best pitch historically. Certainly it was last year. He kind of stopped using it at the start of this year. Seems like he's getting it back. The one of the four starts that was bad in those last four starts. He did not throw the sweeper, twenty percent at the time. So I think he's on the right track. I think he's pretty fringing in a twelve team context, but still worth rostering with the kind of trend he's on. What do you make a Justin Roblesky? He struck out nine in this one. First game with more than seven. His second with more than six. Yeah. Fast well is up one mile per hour. He got twelve whips in it. Typically it's around twenty percent, which is about average. In May, he was about a four twelve ERA. That's mostly what I expect from Justin Roblesky moving forward. What do you think? Yeah. Maybe there's hope for him if he can sustain the velocity he showed in this start. There's hope of him becoming more than then that guy who feels like he's getting away with it because the strikeout numbers have been so low. Other than the velocity increase, I didn't see a lot that changed about this start. So I'm pretty skeptical of Roblesky still. All right. Zach Wheeler gave up four home runs in a bad start against the Dodgers. That'll happen. It's the Dodgers. Just one total in his first seven. Velo was still ninety five point five eleven whips on ninety pitches. I mostly struck this up to face in the Dodgers, right? Yeah. I think it's I think it's fair to say that. Max Meyer. This was a weird start. He only threw his slider 15 percent of the time. And what do you know? It was his worst start of the season. He gave up five earned runs. Still struck out six over six innings three walks three three seventy nine XERA versus two ninety seven ERA from Max Meyer. Suggest there's some sell high there. But what do you think of Max Meyer right now? I think he was allowed to miss. You know, the DRA and Whip are still fantastic. I'm not going to change my opinion on him based on one bumpy start where he still went six innings and had a strikeout for any. All right. Any concern about Drew Rasmussen ended May with a 413 ERA after giving up five earned runs and four innings had mostly been very good before this regardless of the 413 ERA. It's high mostly because that the strikeout rate did go down after it spiked in April. I think that's just kind of the the the winds of the season blowing, right? Nothing to concern. Yeah. Yeah. And that 413 ERA that is what he had Justin May. Yes. Yeah, because it's much lower than that overall. Yeah. It's like 250 in entering. It was two 64 entering May. So still very good. And then Nick Lidolo had a quality start six and two thirds innings three and runs four walks and four strikeouts. Control has not been very good so far. Three plus walks and three of his five starts. Kerbal is still generating whiffs though. And the Kerbal is still moving the way it's supposed. And that was the key thing for me coming back from that blister. We saw that wreck as 2024 season. The Kerbal is there. So I think we're okay on Lidolo. You just got to be a little patient, right? Yeah. It seemed like he turned to corner last time out. I think he had no walks in that one. But then struggled with it again in this start. So I can't call him a safe choice to start. Nick Lidolo, but I would certainly hold on to him. All right. Let's move on to the call of the bullpen. And I think we've seen the change of the guard happen in Milwaukee and it might have it might be degeneration X's fault because ever since Avenue Rebay through the the crotch chop at the was it the braves bull dugout? Whatever dugout it was he did it at Trevor McGill has three straight saves since then, including two this weekend. The brewers apparently suspended Avenue Rebay for one of their games and then MLB suspended him for one. This might just be Trevor McGill's job moving forward and he might just be better than Avenue Rebay. So McGill is available in about 35% of CBS leagues. I think that needs to be zero. By fit, he's certainly better than Rebay. And he lost his job after back-to-back appearances where he allowed three, four runs. I can't remember exactly one of them four four or five runs total. One of them wasn't even poor pitching. It was just he made a poor fielding decision and there was some weekly hit balls and things just kind of snowballed on him. So he's he's actually pitched really well this year, even though the ERA doesn't reflect it and had enough scoreless innings and I guess Rebay had his issues. And so it seems like they've reverted back to McGill's the closer Rebay set up for him in Sunday's game. And I think McGill is I think are even pitched in all three of the games where McGill got the save actually. Okay. So yeah, that that makes it crystal clear. I think McGill's the guy and the brewers closer is a very good closer to have. All right. Jacob Ladds got the save on Sunday for the Rangers. He had two this week before that. He hadn't had one since May 12th. I still think he's the closer there, but it's not 100%. I just haven't given him enough chat. Yeah. They haven't had the chances available to give him Detroit. We did get some a little bit of clarity and then it turned into zero clarity or maybe I don't know what what would be past clarity. I don't know. Kyle Finnigan got the same chance on
Friday and he blew it, allowing a run on two hits. Duranderson then also had a save chance on Friday when he had a one run leading in the 10th inning and he also blew it. So Finningon got the first chance and blew it. Maybe Vest gets the next one. Duranderson also got the loss on Sunday pitching in the 7th inning. Just none of these guys have been very good is the problem this season. But I would guess Will Vest gets the next chance. I don't know. I don't know. I mean, he's been really bad. Yeah, they might they might get finnig in another shot. I don't know. All right. On the national side, Clayton Beater got the save on Saturday and Sunday. He is tied for the team lead with four saves. I believe three different players are tied for the team lead for the nationals and saves now. Beater has 15 strikeouts to 12 walks and is not to be trusted. I think you just avoid this one, right? Yeah. I had seen some discussion for the blue jays that maybe Jeff Hoffman might be able to pitch his way back in. He had been pretty good lately. I don't think Jeff Hoffman's going to be the closer for the blue jays ever again. Because he got a save opportunity on Saturday. Louis Varlane pitched the eighth on Saturday. Hoffman got the ninth. Five runs on three hits and two walks. I just like, I'm not okay. He will get a save again at some point. Probably. I don't think this guy can be their closer again. The way the way it's gone down, right? I would hope not. I mean, Louis Varlane has been so good. I don't know what would have been the incentive to go back to. I don't understand. Hoffman had been pitching better lately. I think it was Varlane. I think it was just the top of the end. I think there was play matchups. I don't think this was like Hoffman's our closer. Varlane has a 0.29 ERA. His ERA plus is like 1500 or something because he's just like when it's that low, you just break the scale. 0.29 is so such a mark, difficult mark to reach mathematically. It's honestly more impressive than if it was zero. Yeah, he's been phenomenal. He was one of their most trusted relievers last year. I think Louis Varlane has to remain the closer and forward. Gregory Soda is just the Pirates Closer. He worked at Squirrels' Night for the win Friday and then I got a four out save on Saturday. It's just his job now, right? He's got to blow it for Dennis Santana to get another chance. I'm not even sure Dennis Santana would be the next stop to be honest. Yeah, Gregory Soda. It's his. All right. For the athletics, Scott Barlow got the save on Saturday. He technically has the last two saves for the athletics. They came a week apart and Barlow walked three with the bases loaded before getting a ground out to end the game. He entered with the basis loaded in a five run lead. Technically that's a save, but whoof. That was bad. Yeah, it's hard to care much about the athletics closer situation. The white socks Tyler Davis got his first save on Sunday. Seranth and Dominguez are worked both Friday and Saturday. Lucas Erssegg struggled yet again, give up three earned runs on five hits for the blown save on Saturday. His ERS up to 633. Matt Strom just came back from the IEL. Do you have any read on who the royals might go to if they finally decided to turn away from Lucas Erssegg? Who has been pretty bad? I'm going to have a bullpen report out tomorrow. I guess Strom would be. I know it just got back, but I'm not sure who else would make sense. John Schreiber maybe. Daniel Lynch had a really good season, but I don't really get it. His strikeout rate's like double what it was last year and he's never really been a great strikeout pitcher. So I don't really know what's going on there with Daniel Lynch, but maybe there's something there. But Erssegg has like a 70 R.A. and a two whip now. I can't imagine they stick with them as the closer. And then Kate Smith got the save for Cleveland on Friday. He remains excellent in that role in Brian Baker got to save Friday and Sunday. We all miss that one preseason. To stream or not to stream, you know, I spent like four hours putting the notes together and I did not put to stream or not to stream. So I'm just going to say some names. You tell me if you have any interest in them at all, Griffin Jack versus the Tigers. Sure. Kate Cavali actually gets them Arlins. I imagine he was a two star streamer this week, right? Well, they both were, but Kate Cavali much higher on the list than Jack's. All right. David Sandlin, Atman, Asod, are we there yet with him? Yeah. He's interesting. Yeah. No, Erads too widely roster for that. So that's we're going to move on to Tuesday. There are not a lot of good streaming options on Monday. Maybe Michael McGreevy, maybe David Sandlin, not a lot of good options. Tuesday, would you try? I know Jack Flairty had a nine strikeout start his last time out. Would you trust him at Tampa Bay? No. Steven Matt versus Detroit. No. Aaron Nola versus San Diego. I like that. Okay. More feels more points league except more acceptable for a point's league. Steven Baws versus the Red Sox. I, that's a pretty good match. I don't think so though. No Cameron at the Reds. No. No, no, no. No Connor Pre-Lip versus the White Sox. I don't think so. He was bad last time out. Trevor McDonald at Milwaukee. Oh, I got one. I know who we're going to say. Dustin May versus the Rangers. Yeah, that's okay. I mean, I think McGreevy against the Rangers Monday is okay also. Gage Jump versus at the Cubs. No. I don't think so. Not yet. Grayson Rodriguez versus the Rockies in their first game away from Course Field. I mean, obviously that's a great matchup. I just haven't seen anything from Grayson Rodriguez that would. His most recent start was okay. It was okay, but not good. Not in a way that gives me faith he can do it again. What about Mike Burrows revenge game versus the Pirates? Oh, I don't think so. Pirates a tough matchup and it's been a lot more bad starts from Burrows than good this year. There have been some good ones, but yes, I agree on the whole. It's been a wildly disappointing season for Michael Burrows and that's going to do it for Fantasy Baseball today. We did it. We made it through. I'm sorry for the long news and notes segment. I need to be more discriminating clearly about my news and or notes. Frank, we'll be back tomorrow. We'll see you then. Bye-bye. FAQs
Fernando Tatís löi vihdoin kotijuoksun 451 jalan matkalle. Hänen lyöntiasentonsa on muuttunut aiemmasta, ja toivotaan, että tämä on merkki tehon palaamisesta.
Elly De La Cruz joutui jättämään sunnuntain pelin takareisikireyden vuoksi. Hänelle tehdään testejä, ja todennäköisesti hänet siirretään vammaislistalle.
Jacob Gonzalez on White Soxin kutsuma sisäpelaaja, joka on lyönyt 19 kotijuoksua 52 AAA-pelissä tällä kaudella. Hänellä on hyvä lähtönopeus ja korkea vyöhykekontaktiprosentti.
Roman Anthonyn toipuminen sormi- ja rännevaivoista on pysähtynyt, eikä häntä odoteta palaavan lähiviikkoina.
Jonah Cox nostettiin Double A:sta Giantsiin. Hän löi .400 OPS:lla 1.100 ja varasti 27 pesää, mutta häntä pidetään lähinnä nopeana ja hyvän lyöntikeskiarvon pelaajana.
Justin Verlander aloittaa kuntoutusvuoron Triple A:ssa tiistaina palatakseen takaisin vammasta.
