Week 9 College Football Previews & Predictions | BIG GAME BREAKDOWN

The Cover 3 podcast breaks down key college football matchups in Week 9, focusing on the Florida vs. Georgia rivalry, Ohio State vs. USC, and Arizona vs. Texas Tech. In the Florida-Georgia game, Tramel Jones is favored over Aaron Phyo due to better performance and playmaking ability, though Georgia’s offensive struggles and Florida’s weak defense create a tight contest. Ohio State’s physicality and manball strategy are seen as a major threat to USC’s struggling offense, especially with Jade Mayava under pressure and a shaky quarterback situation. Arizona’s victory over Texas Tech is highlighted as a potential turning point in the Big 12, though questions remain about their offensive consistency and key player performance. Indiana is viewed as a strong contender against Minnesota, with hopes that their defensive execution and improved game control will lead to a major win. The Utah vs. Cincinnati game is flagged as a potential upset due to Utah’s recent close losses and Cincinnati’s momentum after beating Texas Tech. The podcast emphasizes the importance of physicality, player health, and team momentum, while noting that several matchups hinge on key statistical trends and recent performance. Overall, the analysis underscores how tactical nuances, injuries, and momentum shifts can dramatically impact outcomes in high-stakes college football games.

There will be time for an upset alert because today is a day to break these games down. That's right. We are going inside the matchups. We are giving you the X's and those, the angles to watch for some of the biggest games in week nine. We don't want to take any time talking about that hot cedar coaching carousel right now. It is all ball. So striker. Let's break it down. We begin with our eyes set on the ATL Florida in Georgia out of Jacksonville as they're doing stadium renovations and means we're going to be inside the big body bins. Now what does that mean for home crowd? Not home crowd? That might play a factor for you. I know that they've sold the thing out right. We're doing some standing room only tickets. So the environment I think should be very lively and fun for the latest chapter in this iconic cocktail party rivalry. I want to start with the Florida quarterbacks. We as we are recording here on Tuesday morning do not have a read on whether to ear and file over Tramil Jones. I think that even the team is just going to be waiting to see a phylo can get all the way back healthy and if he's going to be able to go and re-assume those QB one duties. DK, what did you see from Jones? What have you seen from phylo and how do you handicap this going up against one of the best defenses in the country? So do you think it's about health? That's why I was kind of giving you a little bit of the side eye because I don't know if Aaron phylo has done enough to just here's the job right back when Tramil Jones looked pretty good against Texas was pretty clean at a little bit more in the run game than phylo did. I know he's younger and he's got less experience but that's where I was kind of going to go was if I am Kirby smart you have to prepare for both obviously but I think I'm probably preparing for Tramil Jones. I mean like you've got the hot hand you've got again I think against a little bit more playmaking ability that's what I think has been underwhelming for Aaron phylo has been the ability to raise everybody's level of play like if if you're not running the ball which again it's going to help any quarterback if you're able to run the ball but like if that's taken away phylo just has not been like exceptional which this first start in the SEC I don't think that's a shock but I think with Tramil Jones you have a little bit more of a dynamic playmaking ability that I would probably roll with so I think if you ask Kirby like I don't think it's as obvious as when signety was prepping for Michigan it was like is it price underwater is a Tommy car and he's like oh it's definitely Tommy car but I think it's Tramil Jones. First I would like to ask for patience from the listeners and viewers I've been sick these last few days I'm not feeling very good right now but I will say thankfully I've found this hoodie that I'm currently wearing and it feels very welcoming and warm just feels really good to wear it I'd love it very soft very comfortable just don't feel scared about anything at all in this wonderful hoodie from home field um I oh I get it okay got it um the yeah I the quarterback situation here is interesting to me I expect it'll be Jones I think that you know like they weren't if you look at his performance in their last game it's not like they were asking him to do a whole heck of a lot but it was pretty clear as the game went on that he became far more comfortable in the offense in the offense just started executing better but I I think that's one thing we have to consider for this game is the buster Faulkner Georgia relationship he had a lot of success against this team while he was a Georgia tech he faced them three times like last year they only scored nine points with the year before they scored 42 that was the one that went to overtime they scored 23 the year before and this is a fun stat from Brooks Austin in those three games the Georgia tech offense only went three and out twice so he knows how to move the ball on this defense how to control the clock against this defense so now he's at Florida where you would expect that he probably has better talent than what he's had while he was at Georgia tech will they be able to kind of execute that same game plan against this team to you know keep their defense off the field because if that is the weakness of the Florida gators to this point has been their defense so that's interesting and then on the other side you know Georgia's offense here's some the first three SEC games that they played 3.34 points per drive a 47.9% success rate and a 13.7% explosive rate their last two games 2.1 points per drive 45.2% success but they have been more explosive at 16.7 so Georgia like the biggest difference is if you look at the defenses Alabama and Auburn did better than the first few defenses they saw can they get back to where they were against those weaker defenses against this Florida defense which I just pointed out is not all that great but on the other side Georgia's defense has faltered too from a points per possession and explosive rate a lot perspective their last two games have been their worst defensive performances of the season now they're facing a Florida offense with an offensive coordinator who has shown he knows how to beat this defense and is very talented and very explosive so this is an interesting game for both of these teams because I think Georgia is better but I am not overly confident it will dogs will be able to win this game so wait a second you're telling me that after five games versus Tennessee state western Kentucky Arkansas Oklahoma and Vanderbilt you weren't buying in to all to Georgia as this unbelievable greatest show on turf offense you weren't buying into that no I wasn't and I'm shocked I just can't believe I thought I thought Mike Bobo was going to be the Brawl's award winner after that start to the season I listen I think Gunner Stockton's going to have a better game than the last time we saw him out I think he's going to be a little bit sharper and I do think that outside of arch manning other quarterbacks have had success against this defense for Florida I mean other quarterbacks have been able to find ways to be successful against this unit that you know was very much very much the subject of Florida I mean in that roller coaster that was the up and down you know it seems like sometimes an entire season can last three to four weeks Florida went through that and I think that you know there could be a chance that we see the Bulldogs offense do actually hold themselves and I think this you mentioned this from a Georgia perspective Tom I know it's I know it's the flu game but you got any record books because this is definitely a record books throw it out kind of game I mean this is the kind of spot where I'm looking at it I think Georgia's offense is going to be able to move the ball I think Buster Faulkner absolutely matters I do think Danny that Tramel Jones while he handled himself well against a tough opponent in a big spot what he was asked to do was limited that was it was a QB2 workload yes but I mean what they were asking for a little to do wasn't exactly complex either they were just they ran the ball a little bit better you know which helps and I think that obviously Florida is kind of when they were out of the gate they were smoking Ole Miss they had multiple hundred yard backs they were running all over everybody I heard a ton of people say Jayden ball is the best running back in the country and then that talk is kind of cooled off and while you can't just and maybe he still is their inability to run the football is effectively those first five games has definitely impacted that offense and I don't know if that all the sudden they're going to be able that's where I think Kirby smart Williams it is that's that would probably make me nervous if I was Buster Faulkner or John Sumrell is starting Tramel Jones against Kirby smart and a defense that's going to be you know preparing for him you know maybe you trust file a little bit more there's a thing about Faulkner two in the success that he's had against Georgia I mean he did have Haynes King who I think there's a greater appreciation for Haynes King at both Georgia Tech and for watching how this offense is kind of sputtered a little bit recently I mean he was dynamic as a quarterback really probably underrated thrower and his athletices on really put pressure on teams in the run defense because of his running element so I don't know if I just buy into Buster Faulkner had Georgia's number clearly he does know some things but I'm I'll watch that very interestingly but do you think Tramel Jones can do with some of the things that I've got. was able to do. - Yeah, yeah. - What would you do for quarterback Tom? - I don't know. I'm probably leaning on Jones. Just, it depends what my game plan is. Like, if I think that I need to get into a shootout, I'm probably maybe go towards Philo, but even that wouldn't be overly confident. But if I'm just trying to control the clock, I think maybe Jones is the way to go. - Any other ex-factors here? - Obviously, the Georgia after taking the loss, I mean, before they both had the off week coming into this game, Georgia has the loss, dogs beat the dogs today, and then obviously Florida with the massive win against Texas to be able to get things right. Any other aspects to this that you're looking at in terms of the rhythms of the season, Georgia still has an Ole Miss game ahead. I mean, there's some pitfalls with things could get very, very dicey for a team in Georgia that we considered very much, the very top of the sport coming out of the Alabama win, national championship type pick. And for Florida, a win here would obviously launch you into a very, very different conversation in terms of what you can accomplish this year in the SEC and otherwise. - I mean, if Florida wins this game, like, look at the rest of their schedule. They get Oklahoma at home. Then they're on the road for Kentucky, which looks to be pretty, you know, tricky compared to what we thought before the year began, but then you've got Vanderbilt at home, and you're at Florida State. Like, if the Gators win this game, they are suddenly very much in the hunt for a playoff spot. - Don't you think they have to win this game? Like, if they lose this game and they finish nine and three, I think they lack that signature win. Even if Kentucky's a top 15 team, I don't think it resonates as much with the committee because of brand bias, but I think if they win this game, they could lose the Kentucky and maybe still make it at nine and three. I think they need this big win. - I think they could still get in with the loss here if they won out because they would have the Ole Miss and Kentucky wins. And maybe Kentucky's not a huge brand name, but I think that as far as the ratings would be concerned, it would be a good win. And also just like, we can't look at it as though only one nine and three team is going to get in. I expect multiple nine and three teams are gonna get in just based on what's happening everywhere else in like the big 10, too. So yeah, I think Florida can get in with the loss here. They would just have to be perfect from here on out and they would need Ole Miss and Kentucky to continue winning, too. - Yep. Lots and lots of fun stuff again. That is 3.30 PM. - And Florida State. - 3.30 PM Eastern time in Atlanta for the latest iteration of this rivalry. - Coming up on the other side, hot seats, back up, quarterbacks, ooh wee. Latest chapter of Ohio State USC has a little bit of everything. We'll get into all that and more. - Next. - Hey, I'm Tony DeCopel, anchor of the CBS evening news on my new daily podcast, Great Question with Tony DeCopel. We go deeper on the one big question you haven't heard answered, or maybe haven't even heard asked. Follow and listen wherever you get your podcasts. - Back here on the Cover 3 podcast, turning our attention to Saturday night out in the Coliseum, Ohio State week off to get ready and USC licking its wounds after a woeful offense of performance against Wisconsin. Not a lot of time and the competition ramps up. Tom, is there any, do you see Lincoln Riley backs against the wall, circle the wagon Saturday? Do you see him being able to cook up something for an Ohio State defense that is talented, that is well coached? But I would add and feel free to push back is not the vintage that we've seen of the last two seasons from the buccas. - I don't know. I, you know, we focus so much on like the defensive side of the ball for USC and the problems that they have had and it kind of leads us to ignore the offensive problems that USC has had this year. Now, obviously they're coming off of a game in which they only scored seven points against Wisconsin. But even if you take out that game, like this has not been a very explosive offense and when you think of Lincoln Riley offense is that's typically what you think about. Like in their first four games of the year, they had an explosive rate of 15.8%. In the last four games, starting with the Oregon game, they're at 9.9%. Last week they didn't have a single explosive play against Wisconsin. So, you know, they struggled against Washington in that department and Washington is not exactly what we would be considered juggernaut. And I think part of the problem that they face is they're struggling to protect Jade Mayava. Like he's been pressured on 27.2% of his dropbacks to last four games. They've gone three and out on 15.4% of their possessions, which is compared to their 9% season average. They have a negative play rate of 36.5%. They're not reaching the red zone nearly as often. When they get there, they aren't scoring as many points as they had been. Like for a team whose defense has never been elite and we just ask their defense to be like, okay, it's because their offense is fantastic. Their offense has not been fantastic this year and it has really been a problem for them. And now they're going, they're facing the Ohio State team, which, you know, it is interesting matchup because we talked about it, they've been given up pressure but like Ohio State's defense, we've mentioned it, it hasn't been very good at getting pressure. Like they're 11th and success rate overall and they're 34th and explosive play rate allowed. So that's a good thing. But they rank 114th in pressuring opposing quarterbacks. That is not typical of what you expect from Ohio State and what we have seen in recent years. So can Ohio State get to my avid? We've seen that Wisconsin did and we saw what that did to that offense. It'll be interesting to see if the buck guys can do the same. If they do, in fact, they kind of have to because they've got Luke Fahey at quarterback and we don't know what the hell to make of this Ohio State offense without Julian saying. Like we have seen that they have, when they've run into good defense is even with Julian saying they have struggled to move the ball. What do they look like without him? Like maybe we finally get a better appreciation of what Julian San has done in every other game once we see what it looks like without him. - Am I at go, can't he listen or not? All just do we sound okay? 'Cause I'm making sure he sounds great. - Okay, cool. I'm gonna text Striker something. If Striker, if I text you a screen grab, can you tell me if you can grab it or not this quick where I can just hold up the iPad? I think this is a really interesting dynamic because Luke Fahey, are you guys all convinced like he's starting and he's finishing or do you think they'll have a package for Tavy and St. Clair? - I don't know. I wouldn't be shocked if they do. I mean they did have the buy to give him an extra week to check cook some stuff up. - And I do think Fahey might be a better runner than Tavy and St. Clair. So maybe that's a dynamic that we haven't seen. I wanted to show you what Indiana did to Jeremiah Smith. That's him at the top of the screen. They, and a lot of times they didn't even try to disguise what they were doing. They had a corner up pressed on him and they had a safety over the top. And normally that safety with that arrow is usually around the hash, but he's just shaded so far. They're not even, they're just like, "Hey, we are gonna have somebody up in his face and somebody over the top." And good luck trying to get the ball to him. And then that's when Julian Sain did start to throw the ball to other spots. And a lot of other guys started to have nice games and they did a pretty good job with them until the big touchdown where they kind of threw it down in the field and he caught the touchdown pass. But I thought the more interesting thing was when Kirk Sinetti was asked, "How do you stop Jeremiah Smith?" And he said, "If you hit the quarterback, you can't get it to him." Like that to me is gonna be something to watch out for with whoever it is, Fahey at quarterback. What does Gary Patterson do defensively with the first time starting quarterback? He is one of the better minds. And I do know that USC's defense hasn't exactly been 85 bears. But I wonder if they bring pressure and try to confuse him, rattle him, and really try to throw him off his game. I would expect them to. - Do you think we're gonna get any manball? - Yeah. - Yeah. - I think we're gonna see Ohio State try. But I mean, that is one of the questions because if you look at what they've done in their ground game, like they've been efficient rushing the ball, but they're not explosive at all. Like they have a 6.7% explosive rate which ranks 125th nationally. Like they're very good at getting three or four yards and staying on schedule. And when it comes to breaking off big runs, they're just not doing it. And I would like to think that with this kind of inexperienced QB back there on the road, it would help a whole hell of a lot if you can break some long runs. 'Cause if you're asking Luke Fahey to put together a bunch of 10, 11, 12 play drives to get points on the board, it's probably not gonna go great. - I was thinking number one, obviously you can create better third down situations for your new quarterback. I think number two, you're playing keepaway from Jade Maiyeva. You know, just make that USC defense. I mean, just there's so much about this game where the Ohio State Physicality, Manball call it which, I mean, I was even thinking about Ohio State's defense. What we talk about Ohio State's defense getting handsy. You're like, let's test these young boys. Let's see how much they really want to play. Let's test these officials to see exactly how tightly they're gonna call this game. It's a game where if Ohio State wants to show up and see if USC wants to win a game with hammers and just like go out there and start throwing punches at each other from a overall tone setting perspective, that would be one thing that I know that it's been frustrating for Ohio State fans to watch Ryan Day, especially the Michigan losing streak was the one that stands out. But this game against this team, wouldn't you want them to show up and go try to play a game where you're just wrestling them and making them say, Uncle, Matt, to me, is very much like Matt. him at the line of scrimmage, run the football, grab on defense and just like say you are young and just looked soft playing at Wisconsin. We are the Ohio State Buck guys and are more than happy playing this kind of game. I mean, what a from a narrative talking storyline standpoint, what a phenomenal test of everything that we've been critical of Lincoln Riley for over the years because if Lincoln Riley can get his team to be the more physical team, if he can get his defense to be able to show up and come up with game changing plays, blitz the quarterback, hit the quarterback, then all the sudden we just do in a total about face from the way the conversation was coming out of the Wisconsin game. It would be a little college football. Do I see it? I don't. But I do think that from the like this is how about this Tom? This is the worst opponent, USC could face given the criticisms for this coach in this program right now, outside of the quarterback. I think it's the best opponent they could face in this because of the quarterback. Yeah, I think like I don't know if if winning this game would prove anything for Lincoln Riley and USC and what they're trying to do. But I will say if they don't win this game, then there truly is no point bringing it back. Because if you can't win at home against the Ohio State team with a freshman quarterback making his very first start of his college career, then win the hell. Am I ever going to be able to expect that you're going to win these games? There are six and a half point underdog. They can't go in this one and throw it 50 times. And only what they rush for against Wisconsin. 39? 39 yard two. Yeah. They can't be that one to mention. I'll say that. I know. And somebody said, what do you think about Jade? My off the stock. I still like my off. I just don't want to see him throw it 50 times against anybody. It's not a stat game where you're running up to the score. But I mean, I was supposed to be one of their strengths was their backs and King Miller and company and being able to run the football if they couldn't run against Wisconsin. But I do think Wisconsin's defense is pretty good. Like, I know, like, Ohio State's, yeah, I think Ohio State's defense is pretty good, though, as well. Yeah. I was going to say who'd you rather have Ohio State's defense or Wisconsin's? I'd rather have Wisconsin's pass rush. But I think talent wise, I'd rather have Ohio State. Yeah. I was kind of thinking, I didn't think that I would, I would pause too much over that one. Okay. What else here as these two teams are lining up? Do you think that there's something to be exploited? It was minus 17 rushing yards against Wisconsin. Cool. But other than that, it was fine. Other than that, yeah, great. I mean, I, you know, just kind of a storyline like we, we talking about it, but what is, how, how good is Jeremiah Smith? If Jeremiah Smith can go out there and put together a great game with Fahey at quarterback, then that kind of just proves everything you thought. Yeah. Well, he struggled. Like, can, like, will they struggle to get him the ball? Or does the Fahey just do what every quarterback should do when we saw Si and do in the Indiana game? Just chuck it on up there. Right. That's where I think, I think this could help his Heisman case. I agree. You know, if he still puts up numbers and they are just chucking it to him and he is double covered and it's like, good luck. And no one's been able to cover him yet. I think it could, it could help his cause from the, it's like his production might go down, but his Heisman chances go up because of the way he will stand out as the best player in the sport carrying an offense to a potential playoff run without the starting quarterback. Yeah. Without a doubt. A big time stage in all the week nine is not wall to wall bangers. Okay. We call it spade, spade. This is just what it is. This is one of the best games of the day. A college football fan is 100% tuned in to watch Ohio State and USC. Jeremiah Smith just with a game winning touchdown could be helping his Heisman stock, right? There's, there's lots of different ways that ends up being a, a big factor here. I mean, you do have a quad, the double box, at least you can keep eyes on Clemson floor state because you don't want to miss that. I think I'm too distracted, you know, there was that stat going around yesterday, which was wrong about how like over half of Clemson's points have been scored on defense and special teams, which cause they included field goals and points after it's like touchdown, which are not special teams points. Those are offensive points. The much better stat about the Clemson offense is that they have two passing touchdowns this year. Air force has more, which is fewer than everybody. Everybody has more army has more, there are 130 has more air force has more everybody has more 138th in the country when dabble was asked about their transfer portal class last year, he made sure to stress that they were able to fix the holes on defense because that's where the holes were. There's another team that is a national title contender kind of UCLA only has six passing touchdowns. Because I was looking at the numbers Michigan has six, which I think we kind of expected, but UCLA needs to work on that past game if they're going to, you know, take this thing home and maybe when a playoff game, they got to develop tide even back in that past game a little more. Yep. Okay. Anything else? Ohio State USC to keep your eyes on. Ranked on ranked in Lubbock, the Arizona Wildcats after very much handling business in the way that you would want your big 12 title contender to do so just never really a sweat against Iowa State. Obviously, the exact opposite was the case as Texas Tech went to Cincinnati and ended up getting knocked off, getting their first loss of the season. Now they're back in Lubbock, their, their great benefactor is very vocal about his displeasure with the performance while on the other hand, the head coach of the Arizona Wildcats is dropping three grand on shots for everybody at the bar. What a, what an expensive and what a rewarding five minutes for, for everybody, for Brent Brennan and everybody around Arizona football vibes are good for the wild cats, but they need to win this one. If they want to be able to keep their greatest and their biggest hopes alive here, Danny, what have you seen from Brent Brennan's crew? What has been the key to them being able to just continually just kind of exceed the expectations based on the roster that was trotted out here at the beginning of the season? No of a feat is one of the best quarterbacks in the country that no one is talking about. And you know, he started off with the freshman year where I think Tom was on to him early and we all kind of liked him and then coaching change. It kind of falls by the wayside. Last year he was really good too, but kind of just flew under the radar as a nine win team. He has seen every defense. He's seen everything he needs to, you know, to be able to succeed. And if I just watch JC French, who I like to light up this Texas tech defense, I think no if a feeder can't too. And their defense, which has been pretty stout against the run, they just did a phenomenal job. I know Iowa State is not going to be the Texas tech offense, but I'm not really intimidated by Texas tech's offense. If you take away their run game and say, all right, you know, look, try to be this in the past game, I think this is a spot where Arizona could get a win, a signature win for Brent Brennan, all of a sudden, they're talking, they're getting a lot of attention in the big 12 title race. Texas tech losing last week was the worst thing that could have happened to Arizona. Well, just now Texas tech is paying attention. Yeah. Now they're not going to, you know, they're going to have a tough week of practice and they're going to, you know, be ready for this game. Like where's maybe if they won the, there was a chance, you know what I'm saying? But like, I don't know, like I like the Arizona team that I like them quite a bit. It's just I don't know what they actually are yet because like they're six and one. The one is kind of important. The one was against BYU and it was their worst performance of the season by miles. Like their wins have been Northern Arizona, Northern Illinois, Wasu, the Cincinnati team that beat Texas tech, West Virginia and Iowa State. It's not like they've got, you know, huge impressive wins to this point. And if you look at their numbers, very, very, you know, steep, steep splits between those wins and how they performed in the BYU game. So now you're facing Texas tech, which we've talked about it. It's not the team that it was last year. Like to this point, Will Hammond has been a step down from Baron Morton and we know that the offense was the limiting factor for them against elite teams, but it wasn't a problem for them against the rest of the conference, but it's been more of a problem for them against the rest of the conference. Still defensively tech ranks ninth nationally in pressure rate. Their third in pressure to blitz ratio. So they get pressure bringing forth, but they haven't done a great job of is getting the quarterback. They haven't gotten home and gotten sex. They're 6.9% nice or sack rate ranks 59th. Now that's where you miss David Bailey and Noah Fafito will not be easy to bring down. But if they can pressure him, that's not something Fafito has dealt with a ton outside of the BYU game and that game did not go well. So I do have concerns about that offense on the road here against this defense, especially with the coming off the loss and probably being a little extra motivated. But my question for Texas tech, can they run the ball because Arizona's defense has been much better against the past than it has been against the run and BYU ran on it pretty effectively? Texas tech ranks second nationally in rushing explosive rate at 14.7%. They haven't been great at staying on schedule. They're still good, but they're more like good than they are great. Can they continue to hit those explosives while also staying on schedule? schedule offensively because you don't, as we've seen, you don't really want to put Will Hammond in position to where he has to drop back and hit that third and eight pass or hit that third and nine pass and convert that way because they just haven't been nearly as effective at it, and he's shown he can turn the ball over and put you in some bad spots when he does so. So I think Texas Tech, we're going to see a whole hell of a lot of run game, and we're going to see that defense try to get on Fafita's ass. And if they're able to do it, I think Texas Tech can win this game comfortably. See, it's interesting because there was, I think Michael Brown mentioned it. So trace 5e breaks his foot at the beginning of October. That's a notable wide receiver absence. And in the most disrespectful move possible on not only did Arizona schedule, I was state for homecoming. They sat out three more receivers to just to continue to allow them to get better throughout the course of it. I think that'd be what geo Richardson, Chris Hunter, and maybe one more. So you're, if you're in Arizona fan looking at this, you're hoping that you're less banged up pass catchers are going to be able to get back so that no Fafita isn't out there just completely overwhelmed. I would think that Texas Tech with their ability to pressure the quarterback and an overall defensive roster that's talented. If it's all backups as pass catchers, then they're going to be able to run the math on that and feel comfortable bringing some extra heat. Fafita's legs could be absolutely huge here, can dash Fafita when this game, because I mean, just the, the, the way that we were able to enlighten the unknowing on, on what a 5-7 blitzing middle linebacker can look like as he's coming into the hole and then emerging, like a muskrat out in the wild, you know, just like genuinely looks like an AI video. Like, it's real, but it looks like somebody's just having fun. Yeah. Do you know who he reminds me of? There was a linebacker. Yeah. Yeah. There was a linebacker that I played against at the University of Miami. Rohan. No. Rohan Marley, son of Bob Marley, yeah, was a smaller linebacker who was a game wrecker. Like he was, he was a stud run around. He could, and you, I heard you guys breaking him down. It is hard on QB's and offensive line and everybody trying to find him and all of a sudden he just comes out of nowhere from like behind the edges and it's like, whoa, he's on you in a flash. I mean, it's, it's a crazy reversal because you think like when there's small running backs, like linebackers will have trouble picking up where that running back is because they can't see him through the line. Well, now it's the other way around. That running back that's sitting in there to pick up the blitz. He can't see the linebacker and what gap he's coming from until he's already through it. Rohan was listed at 5-8. I just looked it up. Rohan Marley. Another smaller linebacker. You said something though that I might disagree with that the best thing that happened for his Texas tech losing that game. If they're truly one of the best teams in the big 12, then yes, like they're pissed off, they're upset and they come out and they just handle Arizona. But I think there's another like pucker factor that comes in where maybe there's a little bit of nerves that start creeping in and we're not as good as we were last year. Our defense isn't as dominant as we were. And I just wonder if they play a little tighter because they lost that game and the margin of error is, you know, and there's their rumblings from the crowd because the expectations. I think that's another factor that could come into play. The longer this game is closed, clearly this happens in every game when you're the favorite. But the longer this game is closed, the more you like Arizona, like to pull off the upset. Yeah, let me let me jump in just what first thing that comes to mind is like we cannot have a Will Hammond first quarter interception lost Fumble. Yeah, like if if you want to turn it about the grumbles and the puckering and oh gosh, are we good enough the there have been too many times where my running list of thoughts throughout the day at some point in the Texas tech game is like, and I don't know if Will Hammond is the guy, you know, and you don't you want it to be the opposite. You want fans there to be like, yes, Will Hammond is the guy, you know, like have him be able to come up and make a big throw or two and got to imagine from the coaching perspective. They're going out of their way to try to make things easy for him. What's to see up to when he like an eligible and back out like I I keep seeing because he's been quiet. They didn't use him. But I remember seeing like, oh, he's not going to be able to play anymore. But then I was just looking it up and this is there's an injunction where he can play. Could this be a Tommy C game? Yeah, yes, all right. The Minnesota Golden Gofers have been a little bit of a chaos team this year. Now chaos is knocking on the door in Bloomington. That's right. Big time on CBS focuses on those Indiana Hoosers welcoming Minnesota to town 3 30 PM Eastern time for the kickoff Brad Nestle or Charles Davis Jenny Dell, of course, getting you set all beforehand on CBS Sports HQ that with a little college football pregame action and on CBS with college football today. This is Danny Reddy coach conversations yet. We got any coach conversations on deck with SIG or PJ. Oh, no. Not on that. No. Come on. Come on. The cover three podcast guys. Let's go. Danny, when you're looking at Indiana, obviously, you know, like big, you got out of that one. You get back to the comfort confines, Minnesota is coming to town. What's going to be important around Bloomington get ready for this game? Get Josh Hoover going. Like can we get Josh Hoover man, when I, if I, I think I heard this a couple times my first year starting, but the signety saying they were considering benching him was a wakeup call for Hoover, like, and you can like, I can ignite you. So breaking down that game, I told you the shots they took. I didn't see a lot of guys run and open, but I will say this there, when they were, there were a couple easy throws in the Michigan game that he just missed. It kind of goes back to that 90% of the game where you just make the boring throws. He was not very consistent. He was a little bit inaccurate on those. He was a little bit uncomfortable in the pocket that I saw from Hoover. So I want to see him get settled down and make some of the easier throws. Remember earlier in the season, he missed a couple touchdowns against Northwestern, like missed some of the deeper balls. Now he's just kind of erratic on the underneath stuff. So I would like to see them get Hoover's confidence back, see him making a little bit more plays. They ran the ball a little bit better. Last week against Michigan, something they hadn't done before. But this has got to be the line of scrimmage. Take control of the game, you know, Drake Lindsey has been prone to throw the interception, like your defense has to play better, kind of help out your offense. But I think similar to Tech to Tech, they're coming off a win, so it's not as desperate. But I want to see this team start to look like a championship team. In Minnesota's shown, they can beat anybody and they can lose by 42. But I want to see Indiana kind of take a step forward and I think they should in this one. I feel more confident, obviously, as three touchdown favorite that they do that. But I'd like to see them have sort of a boring. We control the game from start to finish and kind of get through this little midseason hump. They've been going through. Yeah. Striker showed on that graphic. Hoover's numbers in the first six games compared to, you know, last week, she'd come up with a split that's just Hoover in non-conference play and Hoover in conference play because he and just the Indiana offense as a whole have been much worse in being to play. And it's been the case the entire time. Look at, well, that's, yeah, that's, there you go. That's much better. Look at you, Striker. It's prepared. I don't know how he got chat GP to do that so quickly, but like, no, like it's serious. And non-con they were scoring four and a half points per drive in conference play. They're scoring 2.1. So it's like more than half in since they've begun playing big 10 teams and Hoover's numbers have changed dramatically in conference play and it's been a serious problem. And when you have two NFL caliber receivers like they do, it should not be that big of a drop off. But they also have been dealing with injuries that running back for most of the year and they seem to be getting healthier there. So I kind of have a suspicion that this could be a get right game for Indiana. This could end up being the best that we've seen them look all year because like the Minnesota defense has been statistically pretty damn good against the past. They've been much better against the past than the run, but then you look at their schedule. And the best quarterback they played was Camario Taylor and Camario tore them up. So remember Mississippi State went up there and beat them by 25. After that, I'll let you guys argue amongst yourselves as to who the second best quarterback they faced is to mind Williams, Bryce Underwood, Ryan Brown or the Iowa boys, you know, you guys. Ryan Brown. You guys can take all day having that one. So I have suspicions that Minnesota is going to have a difficult time covering Marsh and covering Becker, just what I'm thinking going into this one. And then on the other side, Indiana or Minnesota cannot run the football like they have been awful at it. We talked about it last week when we were breaking down the Iowa Minnesota game and I was run defense. And like if they take that away and they put Drake Lindsay in spots where they've got a beat them on third and longs could lead to problems and what happened. It led to problems Indiana ranked second nationally defensive rush success. They ranked fifth and pressure rate and fourth and sac rate. So if they do stop the run and history suggests that they can and they put Drake Lindsay into those kind of dropback situations where they can go and get them as Danny touched on Drake will turn the ball over and it seems like Indiana is going to be able to to put them in those spots. And then there's also just the fact that offensively, kind of like I talked about with Indiana's conference and non-conference, the splits in Minnesota's offensive performance at home compared to on the road, very drastic. So that's why I look at this one, you see, like the spread there's 20 and a half. And based on how Indiana has performed all year, you're probably like, man, I don't want anything to do with that, they have underperformed every single week. I kind of think this is the week that they could have a get right game, especially with Minnesota coming off of a huge rivalry with. - Didn't we talk about Minnesota in the run game even last season and even in July? I mean, didn't we talk with PJ about the importance of trying to get that group going again 'cause you've got a gift, you've got gifted players, but they're just not able to get the kind of push and the kind of space to be able to get it going. So unfortunately, it's not the team to do it against. Just the reasons why I am still considering Indiana, a contender at the top of this sport are mostly on the defensive side of the football with the way that they play their execution and their talent. They're just really, really, really good. And I think that that just set such a high floor that in a game like this, they really do just need those couple of explosive plays to be able to loosen up that Minnesota defense and give Hoover some room to operate. I am curious about the run game, but that's something that can only be revealed if they're able to get out there and get some successful stuff done on first and second down. Anything else for Minnesota, Iowa? All right, thematically connection Wisconsin. No, excuse me, Minnesota, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, as we go to another big game in the big 10. This one, obviously, a bit of, I mean, I don't have my conference title race update. This is an elimination game. Yeah, maybe. Okay, for, yeah. I mean, who knows, but yeah, probably. All right, Tom, so what's, what's gonna be key for Wisconsin to be able to continue the momentum off the big win? This is, I mean, first one to 13 wins? Yeah, this is, this is like that's, this is the Spider-Man pointing name. These are the same damn teams, like pretty much, like you look at them statistically, you look at them from power rating wise, they're pretty much the same damn team. So, you know, the biggest difference to me that I see when I look at them is that Wisconsin has been like outstanding at limiting explosive plays against, like if you eliminate all the non-con or just like G5, G6 opponents among the power four teams, just against power four teams, Wisconsin has allowed explosive plays on 5.9% of their defensive snaps. That is the best in the country. Now, I don't know if that comes into, if it's that important against Iowa because I feel like at times I was pretty good at stopping their own explosive plays. Yeah, I was about to say how many times are they presenting an explosive play to be able to be defended? But Iowa has been more explosive this year than in years past, typically. So, I do think it somewhat matters here. The other thing too is while they're not great at it, as far as the difference between these two teams, which is more surprising and I've touched on it a bit in recent weeks, Wisconsin's been much better in forcing turnovers than Iowa. And I do wonder now if, when it comes to Iowa's quote-unquote, turnover look, is this the get right game with Colton Joseph coming into Kinnick, Mr. Woopsie Daisy himself? Can Iowa finally start getting those turnovers that they have for us? But I just, honestly, I've tried to break this game down in a whole bunch of ways. And I come down to, I think it's gonna come down to just three plays, one way or the other, whichever team makes two or the three is gonna win the game. Who are you starting a quarterback if you're Iowa? - I think you're gonna start Hank Brown. - But tight leash? - Yeah, maybe, but I probably, I just think that the reason they benched at Klinsky last week was he's just not careful with the football, and he takes too many chances. And in a game like this, they're probably gonna go with the guy who they think is not gonna take the same kind of chances. It maybe doesn't give you the same upside in the past and game, but like I said, I think just protecting the football in this game is gonna be key because you don't wanna be the team to turn it over 'cause the team that turns it over is gonna lose. Like this is just a basic Aspect 10 West football game, old school style. - It really is. - Me and Potatoes, we'd love to see it. Danny, what are you keeping your eye on here? - I mean, everything we're talking about, I think it's just gonna be a low scoring, like low margin for air, whoever makes the big mistake or two, is there a pick six? More puns than points, agree with that. Like, is there a special team to touch down? That could be a way to generate some points. So yeah, I think it's pretty much like we've been talking, just a slobber knocker of a game. Is Molten out for Iowa? - I don't know. I'm gonna have to wait to see the injury reports, but he was definitely dinked up. - Yeah. Something to keep an eye on for sure. Coming up on the other side, speaking of keeping an eye on it, how about a couple of upset alert spots? And I'm sure that as they're sending their boys down the mountain to go into the land of the Skyline chili, they're telling you, hey, we need to learn lessons. The alerts are on for a potential upset as Utah is coming out of that massive home win on Saturday night against Houston. And now facing the same Bearcats team that has to get back up and try to do it again. So, what are some of the keys for Utah, Tom, to be able to make sure that they're going to be able to get in and out of Ohio while being able to maintain their status as one of the top teams in the Big 12 standings? - I mean, I don't want to sound corny or anything, but we did see last week like, you know, what happened when Texas Tech went to Cincinnati. And we've seen all year the last thing you want to be at any point this year is undefeated. 'Cause if you're undefeated, well, you're probably going to lose here pretty soon. So the youths are going on the road and they've got the look ahead factor they have to deal with. So you've got to play a Cincinnati team that's feeling pretty damn good after beating Texas Tech. But you've also got your game against BYU, the Holy War looming next week. So you do not want to get caught looking past this team. They have proven that they have been dangerous. And the other thing we have to look at with the youths, it's like they are undefeated. Man, they've been playing them a lot of close games lately after blowing teams away to start the year. Things have been getting a lot more tense. Kansas they ended up winning by 17, but that game was closer for a while. Colorado, they only beat by three on the road. Last week against Houston, they only won by eight and Houston had the ball in Utah territory late with a chance to kind of tie that game and force over time. So they are very much on upset alert when you look at how they've just performed overall and then the context surrounding this game being on the road with a huge rivalry game looming next week. It's something to be looking out for. - Nobody goes into the nip and walks away unscathed. - I mean, this has all the ingredients, right? The only thing that's missing is Cincinnati coming off a buy but they're coming off a huge win. The place is gonna be loud. I do think this was what I've believed with Houston going into Salt Lake City, was if you can take away the run game and make Devin Dampier only a passer, he does have some deficiencies. He can struggle with the football, had the two interceptions in that game, but they weren't able to take away the run game altogether. You have to make them one dimensional. I thought Cincinnati did pretty good job 'cause Texas Tech wants to run the football too and they did a pretty good job holding that run game in check, but it's not as dynamic. It's not as like when you get a quarterback run game with two QBs and a back like Wayshawn Parker, that can be a big problem. So that's the matchup that I'm watching for, but I do think Cincinnati's offense can put up some points against Utah. - That was upset alert brought to you by Draft Kings. Once again, new customers can use code cover3 on signup, spend five bucks and get two. 200 in total rewards within 21 days. Remember, the Draft King Sports App is now live in all 50 states, and that means from Texas to California to Florida, every fan is in on the excitement and partnership with Draft Kings. The crown is yours. Y'all, they'll ever heard the story about Halloween nights 2004? - Yeah, for sure. Number four Miami rolls into Chapel Hill. Feeling good about themselves as it's their first season as an ACC member. You're just a couple years separated from your last national championship. You weren't playing it. You were playing in the national championship game not that long ago. This was the time for the you to come and lay it on you NC. And sure enough, even though he would be dismissed a few years later, John Bunning was good to be able to rise up and not to big win or two. And sure enough, it was Connor Barth, who knocked in the game-winning field goal as time expired. 22 years later, we've got number one Miami coming to Keenan Stadium again on a Saturday Halloween night. And again, as the favorite, as a national title contender. So what's the entry level? - I'll watch the first quarter and keep an eye on it. - Hey, listen, that's good. Hey, first 15 plays from the Tar Heels. Ain't nothing to mess with. Right. - I could build a whole game out of the first 15 plays from the North Carolina offense. This would have been a playoff team by now. - Right. I do think Miami is at a place where you kind of trust them more than you have historically to have a let down game. I thought that was on display last week against Pitt other times the season. They do feel like they have some special players in Mensa and Malachi, Tonya, Mark Fletcher, like leadership that will stand up. But I do think North Carolina could put up some points against this defense. So like you said, first 15, they come out Bobby Patrino, can you exploit some weaknesses? We saw Florida State put up some points on this defense. Man, I like this one if I like to for potential upset if North Carolina had beaten Syracuse. I know it's like, well, what changes? I don't know, it's just, I don't know. I think Miami's really good and I don't think North Carolina can put up much of a fight. - I mean, let's see here. How many games had Calvin Russell played before last week too? - Are you thinking about if Calvin Russell can do that? - I'm just like Calvin Russell, freshman, five star, big body. Like, I mean, he was a five star for reason. Kids, six, five, he's 200 pounds. He's a very, very talented player. He comes in against North Carolina and catches eight for 86 yards in a touchdown. Yeah, what are Miami's receivers gonna do against this secondary? 'Cause that was, you know, talent-wise, it's not like North Carolina has been facing a ton of NFL dudes at the receiver spot all season long. - Right. - They kind of face one who has potential to be an NFL guy last week and he looked to have a pretty damn good day against him. So, I mean, yeah, this is gonna be a case where North Carolina's gonna have to muck it up. They're gonna have to control the ball. They're gonna have to force some mistakes and dairymen, so who has not made those mistakes this year? But in the past has shown that he is capable of making them. Can you bring that out of 'em? If they can't, then this is just gonna be another Miami blowout win. - In the Notre Dame was a little bit different just because of the nature of the game, the way Notre Dame decided to play that second half. But specifically in the Clemson game and the Syracuse game, if I was to tie a through line in addition to the color orange, it would be North Carolina's lack of competitive depth showing up late in the games and that they do have a team that in a very specific style of game can win. Like almost a lot of the games on the schedule, but they get worn down and they were getting worn down and that defense was having trouble getting off the field and key spots. They were making mistakes, right? And that was the one thing to me that this year's North Carolina team, compared to last year's North Carolina team, that actually goes with the most optimistic ideal of Bill Belicechek as a college football coach, going into the Syracuse game, North Carolina was top 10 nationally in penalties per game and penalty yards per game. They weren't making mistakes. They were making the other team beat themselves and North Carolina made bad mistakes at bad times to be able to help Syracuse climb back into that game that at 10 point lead in the fourth quarter against a team that had yet to win an ACC game. They should have been able to close that out. They weren't able to get it done. So I think that if North Carolina provides a little bit of a scare early, the biggest challenge would then be to maintain that for 60 minutes, given the way that North Carolina's kind of run out of gas on both sides of the ball and in some of these ACC games later in the game. - Don't you think that challenge looks something like 14, 14? Not like three to zero. - No. - Right. - They gotta score. - They gotta score. - Yeah, they gotta score. That's what that was my point. - And I think into your point, I think that Miami's defense could give it up. Like there's, there are enough playmakers for North Carolina to be able to put together some explosive plays and to be able to go and score points. But then if this is close at all, late I imagine that Miami will end up having gas and talent and speed and strength that North Carolina might have trouble matching. And that's not, I mean, look, there's no one team in the country. That's just, that's the way it goes. But that's the way that this thing could go. 14 and a half in terms of spread, by the way, doesn't feel right. It feels like it's either 21 or seven. And that 14 and a half is just splitting the difference on the bell curve. But we'll see what ends up happening. We'll see if there's any best bets in our lock episode. What about the Auburn Tigers going to play Ole Miss? Can Trinidad get back off the mat? Where's Auburn at? Is this a scary spot? Yeah, I mean, it's a scary spot for both teams because Ole Miss is margin of error. It's very, very thin now after losing last week. I mean, even if the lost attacks, this is, you know, quote, unquote, good loss. Like, you've got Auburn, but you have Georgia looming. And like, this is one of those things where you can't get caught looking ahead. See, this is an Auburn team that has proven it can be pretty damn dangerous. They did beat Georgia. So you need to get up, you need to play better. To Trinidad to not play well at all last week, defensively Auburn is not Texas, but it's not exactly a pushover. So it'll be interesting to see. I mean, I'm assuming Lacey's out again. Yeah. Yeah, so that we have seen this offense is not the same without Lacey. And it's gonna be interesting to see how they can overcome it. And on the other side, Ole Miss's defense had done such a really good job of stopping the run in the few weeks leading up to the Texas game. And they kind of went out the window. They allowed a lot of big plays to relieve Brown. They kind of ended up proving to be the killers in the second half when they couldn't get off the field because of it. And Auburn, we've seen Byron Brown lately. They're able to run the ball. If they can't contain Byron Brown, this becomes a tricky spot for the reps. Byron Brown's carries her up the last couple weeks. He was over 20 against Georgia, 20 last week against LSU. I think that's like, can you slow the game down, kind of make it one of those big slog fest and extend drives and kind of keep it away from Trinidad? But I do worry about Byron. I think teams are kind of so dialed in on him as a runner. They're just, he's starting to take a lot of shots. You know, can they dial up a big player too and put up some points in the board? But I do feel like Ole Miss should be able to get back on track. I mean, I thought Trinidad James was one of the more trustworthy quarterbacks in the country as his worst performance ever against Texas. I would expect him to bounce back. But it is an intriguing spot for Ole Miss to be in. Yeah, and look ahead to Georgia. Yeah. You are home for a two game run where there's an Auburn team that you're favored to beat by two touchdowns. And a Georgia team that represents your best chance to secure a spot in the college football playoff. You got to get through this 2-0. And you can't get to 2-0 without getting to 1-0. And that is a nervy, nervy position when the margins can become so thin. As they are against a team that already beat those Georgia bulldogs. Well, they're clamoring for it, Danny. What's the big game breakdown for a big game mic? Big game mic. Listen, we've had some mics and daves catch the old coaching carousel, honestly, that's why Shane's safe. Just 'cause his name's Shane and not Mike or Dave, you know? Dabble might be safe 'cause his name is not a Mike or a Dave. But Mike Norvell, how are we going to do? I think this is a game Florida state should win. I think they're favored for a reason. The defense has struggled to watch Clemson match their passing touchdown total in this game alone. Like they had a couple of big plays because Florida state's defense has been given up big plays. But I do feel like Florida state should be able to manage Clemson's offense. Let's just say that, hold them and check. And I do think after a bi-week, I know it was an emotional let down game, but I think this is a get right game for Florida state. Kind of build some confidence back up for their home stretch. I think the team will fight for them. I do, I mean, we've seen that and they've come up just short. Now it's an opportunity for them to build some momentum going down the home stretch. If they don't, my goodness, it's going to get on, I mean, it's already uncomfortable, but it's gonna get it. even worse. Colin in the tailgate says these schools trade coaches which fan base is more upset for the state. Yeah. I think it's for state. Isn't that crazy to say that is crazy to say. But it's true. I would rather have Mike Dorvel in 2027 than dabbo sweetie. I don't know about that. I think I think with which team is favored here. You did. No, no, no, no, that's not the question. But which team is favored? Floor to say think of think of everything we said about Florida State. They're favored over Clemson. They've been competitive against good teams as Clemson. No. I mean, the perfect fit for dabbo at Florida State is just that they don't have the money to go into the transfer portal. So dabbo would be like cool. I mean, I think that which fan base is more upset though. Which fan base is more upset, I think it's Florida State. But with Clemson, I think there's a little asterisk next to it because you've got two national titles and you also have a coach who's just being stubborn and won't do what he should be doing. And like if you could get him to change which he hasn't been willing to do, he's been a stubborn isn't going to get. But I think you could win back the fan base if you were Clemson and he said, all right, I'm going to hire a GM and I'm going to spend some money and we're going to hit the portal. I think you could get Clemson fans back in. I don't know if there's anything Mike Norvel could get the Florida State fans. Like you could go eight and four, win out. And I still think Florida State fans have the fan bases checked out. This sport has changed a lot in five years. And dabbo is the way that he does things is not what works in this new version of the sport. I would rather have dabbo Sweeney so you'd rather just go seven and five every year because at least Mike. No, it has a hit in the portal era. They had the 2023 season. They also had a bunch of teams that quit and you know what I've never seen Clemson do. Never seen Clemson quit on the season. They play the rass off to get to seven and five. That's fine. I just I mean that the the the colossal drop off, I mean that hasn't happened at Clemson. Just getting run by your entire conference hasn't happened. If you upset Alabama lately, I just stated my I stated my preference. I don't want your position seven and five, but one of you's actually scoring points and winning big games. The other one's getting its ass kicked has two passing touchdowns and has a coach who refuses to go get a quarterback in the portal because he doesn't want to hurt anybody's feelings because he wants to prove that his way is the right way because he's too stubborn to see what matters more than his ego. Which one would you rather have? Give me give me dabbo dabbo will never quit on dabbo. That's the problem chip. If they quit, we'll find out, but I just that the the colossal drop off would be the the thing that we just haven't seen happen. We treat them as though they are the same. They are not the same. Who would you rather have it North Carolina chip, dabbo or Bill Belichick? Right now. Yeah. Dabbo Swini. Wow. Wow. Wow. You're going to turn down the 33rd NFL team for dabbo. It's like, I mean, this one is the I think I think that the wins and losses speak for themselves. Because the only way you can make that case is the highs are higher and the lows are higher. I do think the only way I think if dabbo did say if he didn't about face and was like, I was wrong. I've been going about this the wrong way. I've been stubborn, but I'm going to go out and we're going to spend money and we're going to hit the portal. I would buy an adabbo because I think he still could create the culture he wants with transfer guys. He just doesn't want to. Then I could buy an adabbo. Barring that, I think it's a no brainer for all these schools. He would take all of them over dabbo because of his unwillingness to adapt. Yep. Absolutely. And I know dabbo is a big fan of the cover three podcasts. So I'm sure we'll invite him on to come and voice his opinion at some point down the way. He's going to be a Clemson fan and see how quickly he changes his tune. What did you say? So we should make you be a Clemson fan for the next couple of years. See how quickly you change your tune. I mean, that's not absolutely I'm signed up north Western at Oregon. What's chip Kelly got for his former school? We'll find out. I mean a lot in the bag. A whole lot. He's got tricks up his sleeve for days. And it does make a little bit more sense to me. Now that we get the official Dante more news, because I think that's been rumble. There's been rumblings that this was going to be the case that Dante more was going to shut it down. If those players knew, I do wonder if it's, we kind of all checked out. Like if we lost our quarterback, we don't love our chances. I hate it for Oregon. I think Dan landing is going to have his toughest coaching year trying to get this team up. But it's a fun game. I think we'll find out a whole lot more about northwestern here. I can't rule it out, but I also think the change in the offensive coordinator will help quite a bit because I do think that what Oregon has done offensively the last all season really, especially since losing Dante has just been kind of mind-boggling in that they're playing the musical chairs with the QBs and they're not really putting, like, again, that went over it. But like some of the decisions they were making with their play calls on Saturday against Illinois were just like, huh, like what are we doing here? But on the flip side, like, you know, you see Oregon's still favored in this game, despite all their problems. And I think the problem is, it's like Northwestern is a good football team. I have absolutely no doubt about that. You look at the teams they've beaten, South Dakota State, Colorado, Penn State, Ball State, Michigan State, and Rutgers. Now to their credit, they've blown most of them out, like Michigan State of those wins was the only one that was close. They played Indiana, they lost. And at the time, we were like, hey, look, this Northwestern team's really feisty. Look what they were able to do against Indiana, but everybody's been dunked doing that against Indiana ever since. So this is a really interesting spot for Northwestern going on the road to face an Oregon team that say what you want about it, say how disappointing they have been. Still a very talented team, still very good on defense. And you're on the road in Austin. So this is, we're going to learn something here about the Northwestern Wildcats. If they go in there and they win this game, I don't think it moves the needle nationally because everybody's just kind of punted as Oregon being like, you know, crappy now. But for me personally, if Northwestern wins this game, I'm be like, all right, this team is legit. Yeah. As you should. But I also think this is one of damn land. This is probably the most challenging month that he's ever faced as a head coach. And we know he's a great motivator for the big games. We've seen the pregame speeches, but we saw Florida State with a big transfer laden, you know, class, fall apart, hang it up last year, Penn State, you know, national championship aspirations, hang it up. They kind of quit. We're curious to see with this Oregon team, national championship aspirations, they're kind of out of the hunt. They're quarterbacks out. Do they throw in the towel, you know, and kind of lay an egg here down the home stretch? The, I think we talked about this a little bit on Saturday. All the greats have seasons that they will talk about when they're reflecting on their career and say, I mean, Chute Jimbo talks about the 2012 team the year before they won in 2013. He's how he thought that team was good enough, but they had a few spots where they just didn't play well enough, right? Or you've got another team that might have an injury or a misstep here. It's like, hey, if so and so hadn't happened, let me shoot before what's we call it, breaks his neck. And the rooster has to come in in the national championship game for Florida State back in the day. Well, why am I blanking on this now, Danny? Quarterback. Marcus Watson? The rooster? For the, no, not the rooster, Florida State quarterback, the starting quarterback for what year? The tooth out the year you lose to Oklahoma and the BCS national championship. Oh, winky. Winky. That's right. Winky broke his neck, right? Yeah. Yeah. You've always got these spots and I think that Dan landing will probably, he is in the difficult spot of probably recognizing that he is in a season, that he's going to look back on and be just playing the what if game. But the problem is if you are already playing the what if game, then you're failing your team and your program and you've just got to focus on solving the problems at hand. I'm sure that's what he's doing right now and it'll be very, all that's going to be put on the line on Saturday in Eugene. Are any other just sort of one lineers rapid fire anything else you want to hit before we get out of here? Chip, Debo, Swini or Dan landing. Dan landing. Is South Carolina, are they a dog, Edo, Oklahoma? I think so. Yep. Yeah. Is that surprising? No. I just two opposing forces like who's going to win this one, Oklahoma, back in the win column. I don't know. I think South Carolina is playing with some Mojo, you know, I think this is an interesting game. Yeah. I mean, Oklahoma, cocktail where I think it's limited to brace lamps. Yeah. I don't think you could take that show on the road, especially not to Norman though. Shane Beamer does know those roads, former Oklahoma assistant. It's true. He knows how to get to the stadium. He knows where all the bathrooms are. Yep. I listen personally. Joey, I like having BK on the squad. So I'll let him choose his own professional career path, but I'm not going to try to hire him away to anybody. So there we go. There was something we'll be back to show by the way. Sorry, was it? Camaro's out for the year. Dang it. Gosh, why'd they bring him back for that game? Maybe it wouldn't matter. He might have, you know, with the turf toe, it's painful. You really just need to shut it down and I get maybe you're trying to take a swing and see if it could work, but I just wonder if he'd waited a couple of weeks if he would have been able to make it through. But maybe not. That sucks. I would take Luke fickle over Davoswini in 2027. Davoswini, the, not the Trevor Lawrence of coaches, but, you know, though, that would be fitting.
