I'm Fox Sports reporter Jenny Taft. And I'm former U.S. Women's National Soccer Team player, Carly Lloyd, and on our new podcast, whatever it takes, nothing is off limits. I played with players that didn't truly love the game. I found the love with the ball at my foot. I don't care what I'm being asked to do at Fox. I'm gonna go get some reps and love it and embrace it. Listen to whatever it takes with Carly Lloyd and Jenny Taft on the iHeartRadio app Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcasts. We don't immediately run to HR and we don't immediately run to the cops. And so I'm gonna put it out there in front of the entire world. We had a great weekend in Columbia, South Carolina. 99% positive reviews, except for a kid ran off with my chapstick. That big jumbo chapstick, they gave me a week what the makeup lady gave me that week one. I've been using it the whole year. It's been great. Press saw you run off with it, okay? We've got it on camera, that's a lie. We don't, but I have a visual description from press. I want my chapstick back. This stuff costs $14 a container. So we're all dealing with some form of issue this time of year. We're jam packed, we're high atop of confused. Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. On this Sunday, October 25th, the year of our Lord, 2026, live as live can be, even though pre-recorded propaganda is spamming the chat as we speak. How would I know that if it's pre-recorded? So week eight reaction. Of course we do that every Sunday night. We don't talk about Dan landing and Lincoln Riley being under fire every Sunday night, 'cause they're not, but they are right now for different reasons. Actually, I guess losing is pretty much the same reasons, just kind of different stages of professional life right now. The AP poll, drugs, drug use, back in style at the AP right now, actually, just with the voters. And the big 12, didn't have a great day yesterday, Jesse. We may have spoken a little out of turn. We may have inflated the big 12 balloon a little bit too much last week. I don't think so. I think we just told the truth. We've got a jam packed show tonight. And they're watching us in Lebanon, Missouri, Vance, Alabama, Detroit, Michigan, and Calabasas, California. What's the count at? We're over, we're nearly 592,000 subs right now. So we're just like knocking on the door of 600K. Man, we were just doing 500K. We were just doing 100K. It seems like to me. So I appreciate you guys so much for the few of you remaining out there who have not subbed. Why? And then follow up question, what's it gonna take? Do I have to do the prayer hands emojis? I'll do it right now. Please subscribe to the channel. Here's the deal. I look at our data. A ton of people just watch the show on televisions. And it's not easy to just click the little subscribe button like it is on mobile or desktop. So you got to make some effort. But we make an effort to bring the show to you. So it's just a small, small price that's actually free. So there's no price to pay. I appreciate you guys for real though. Okay, let's dive into the show. We got a lot to get to here. South Carolina beat Tennessee. 27 to 24 was the final. This game was presented by Jimmy Johns. A four chalai classic. That's what we rated the game. That's what you could rate the barbecue brisket sub at Jimmy Johns. You can get it at jimmyjohns.com or on the Jimmy Johns app. What a game to be at. Unbelievable day. In Williams, Bryce Stadium. Savannah State was there her first time ever in the cockpit. She made her way over there. She actually is speaking about as highly of South Carolina as any visit we've gone on. And I think she may be going back without me. So she loved it over there. We had to peel her out of there yesterday. This is the first home, October win for South Carolina since 2022. So I know some of you out there thought that October was canceled. Couldn't be me, Jesse. Couldn't be me. Imagine me saying those words never. Never would I say those words. Nor would I tweet those words. But if you didn't believe in October before yesterday, you best start believing in October now. 'Cause you're in one. Tennessee was in one yesterday. Oklahoma could very well be in one this upcoming Saturday. But you have never seen nervousness like you could see right now on the sideline of a South Carolina game when that team's up 14 and nothing. 'Cause those people are petrified of two score leads. They have never seen a two score lead they couldn't give up. And they gave up another one yesterday. Turns out it's all well in the end. They come back to win the game. But the most important part of this game was basically how we summarize this team back in July. 'Cause back in July, everyone was talking about Texas, Georgia, and that was like the top two. And then there was some combination of A&M or Alabama or LSU or Oklahoma. Again, these were preseason vibes. Things have changed since then. But I thought it was so funny how all these teams were perceived to be at tier one and tier two of the SEC. But yet you could look at South Carolina and you could have reasonably said, they may have the best offensive and defensive player in the league this year. Like Lenora Sellers when he's at his best. Dylan Stewart when he's at his best. And so there were moments yesterday where they were at their best. I could say the same thing about the Florida game a couple of weeks ago. But man, I'm sure even if you weren't watching the game live, you've seen the highlight of Dylan Stewart doing something no human should be. Well, Dylan Stewart too, but Lenora Sellers touched down to come back and tie this game was. I don't know how to describe it. Sometimes when people are trying to point out holding calls and stuff like that, they'll screenshot the TV screen. But a lot of people have taken to screenshotting the Lenora Sellers touchdown run. I screenshot it myself, Jesse. 'Cause there's a moment where his body is contorted in such a way, you're seeing the play right here, if you screenshot it about right now, it's contorted in such a way that you say, right here, how would that dude score? Well, he scored because these Lenora Sellers, unbelievable, you just missed a lot. If you were listening on podcast, I appreciate it, but you missed an experience there. And then Dylan Stewart, man, who three weeks ago, I said, could not be doing any more to tank his draft stock if he tried. When he put on that little scene, he didn't Tuscaloosa when they played Alabama, and they yanked him out of the game and they suspended him. Okay, he has been a model citizen and a model player since then. They played every snap against Florida, and then yesterday he shows up when it counts the most and forces a fumble at midfield, and Lenora Sellers scored, and then Dylan Stewart forced a turnover that sets up the game when it feel go un-be-leavable. The level of fight that team showed you could learn a lot from if you're across the country at the USC on the West Coast. You know, that team went into yesterday with one loss. They played like they were out of the playoff. South Carolina, conversely, has three losses already, and they played like their life was on the line. It was really admirable. This was not a major disappointment to me for Tennessee, but I view Tennessee differently this year. I've come to find out. I've largely stuck with how I described Tennessee in the preseason where I thought they were gonna go, do we go eight and four, Jesse? It was like seven to five or eight and four, but I said, 20, 27, Tennessee is gonna be something to deal with if they're ahead of schedule, great. So I view Tennessee through that lens the whole year. So they've overachieved to me. So far this year, but you were taking a young quarterback on the road is second SEC start and the first one was Arkansas. So really it's the first high level SEC start. The dynamics were horrible. It's their eighth consecutive game. They're on the road coming off the band of game, taking on a rested SEC opponent that has a top 15 talent roster. You're down 14/0 early. You have 13 missed tackles. bunch of penalties
you lost the fourth quarter, that's how I would expect a game to go with a team in Tennessee's position, facing a team in South Carolina's position. So this was not some huge crushing disappointment to me for Tennessee, and also they're not out of anything. They're just another two loss SEC team now, but they got everything in front of them still. The path is still there. There are seven teams in this league with two losses. And by the way, I saw someone mentioned in the live chat, didn't you already talk about this game? Kind of, because when I came home last night, I just cranked up the laptop and I did like a 10 minute reaction video, just like quick initial thoughts. I do that sometimes. There's no format or schedule for it. Just if I feel like doing it on Saturday night, I do it. So yeah, I already said some stuff about this game, but this is the Sunday night show. This is when we really break it down. I do want to address one thing. Some stuff's being said about the points spread in this game. I know some stuff's being said about the officiating. It wasn't the most cleanly officiated game in the world. I understand that. Okay, if you watch this show, I feel like every week we've called out officiating, Jesse. So it's all across the country. It's not like there's a big crosshairs on the University of Tennessee and no one else. I want to acknowledge that, but then I want to get to what I was about to bring up. Points spreads are talked about a lot in sports. Gambling is just proliferated to culture. Some of you don't like that. Don't traffic in it. I know, but I know it's hard to escape it. We're presented by FanDuel. So I infuse a lot of our commentary with it, but the way I've always, my philosophy on talking about betting in a college football show has always been, I want to weave it in in a very intelligent way that informs the person who never bets on sports. Because there's a way that you can talk about odds making. It's really informative, above and beyond just devolving into like pure degeneracy. So we were all last week talking about how I think the general public may be a little surprised at what the point spread is on this game. Because South Carolina ended up favored in the game. That doesn't mean the spread didn't make sense. It just means it may not have made sense to you. And I say that. It sounds condescending. I say it very respectful. Some of you do not care about this stuff at all. Some of you do not gamble on this stuff at all. And you're sometimes aware and sometimes not aware of the point spread. So I understand fully how it could have surprised you that a top 15 Tennessee coming off a win against Alabama could be an underdog against a South Carolina team that you wrote off a long time ago. But then what it became after the game was, oh, this line never made any sense. I should have known something was up. No, the line made perfect sense, guys. If you understand odds making, this is the same kind of person, by the way, who says that? That's the same kind of person who hops in the comment section of the JP poll and just tries to trash it. Because it makes no sense to him. Because it's a predictive ordering of teams based on who would be favored on a neutral field. The reason when you fly into Las Vegas, that place looks like it does is because the way that numbers are set in a predictive market is different than the way the normal public conscious works or a fan's mind works. The way you see the game is you see one version of a team every Saturday or Sunday and you see what has happened already. Odds making is a predictive format where you're trying to set a number based on what will happen. And all of those factors being in play here made it perfectly reasonable for South Carolina to be a dog or be a slight favorite in the game. You don't have to look at bad officiating and think it's anything more than bad officiating. Not every poorly officiated game means that someone's on the take. Or man, there was something smelly about this game. No, there wasn't. Even if the officiating sucks. No, there wasn't. It's not the way it works. Just not the way it works. As for our experience, South Carolina was awesome. We had our best show to date, I think on ESPN Friday. We had our biggest crowd to date on ESPN Friday. It helped that it was about 70 degrees low humidity. Everybody showed up. That's what we call good old fashioned cuttober spirit. I still a question where a lot of the art work comes from that a lot of people are putting on posters at our shows, but I appreciate the enthusiasm. I appreciate people showing up. Like I said, my only gripe is some kid ran off with my chat stick. That's my only gripe from the whole weekend. We got a little creative with the segments, as you can see. It was a great time. Hey, I would be remiss if I didn't mention our good dear close personal friend, JP Hovey, who I know we've been giving a lot of mention on the show. There he is right there. We've been mentioning his name on like live TV frequently on ESPN and no one knows who JP is nationally, although they do now. I just let him smash my pumpkin on live TV. No immunity. No, it's a literal pumpkin for those of you listening on podcast. It was a big weekend for JP, and I was standing next to him during this game. That's not his kid. He was holding up there. He was he was on another level. That was not his child. That child walked up and then Lenora Sellers took one of the ends on it. JP just picked him up. Dad is somewhere. I always wonder where the parents in this situation. His dad was right there. I met him. He's a good dude. But what a weekend, man. I really appreciate Shane Beamer and everybody at South Carolina for taking really good care of us. Hey, Jesse, we think a three-law CCC team is going to make the playoff, right? South Carolina's three-laws team, right? Tennessee's a two-laws team. So far as I can tell, both of these teams are probably still in it. Hoops amongst us knows. Where are we headed this weekend? Well, I'm going to, first I'm going to tell you where we're going. And then I'm going to tell you something that may shock you. So, the week nine don't tread on Saturday tour destination is Winston Salem, North Carolina. We have never been to a Wake Forest game. And that changes this weekend. Virginia at Wake Forest. I see a lot of the reactions behind the glass. I see a lot of surprise. Yeah. First off, CCC network is going to be over there. Yeah. So, you know, like Eric McClean doing this gym hop that he's doing across the country. It is squat tober. It's cock tober. It's squat tober. It's a lot of tober right now. So, we may get a lift in with him. That'd be good for you, Jesse. Jesse squatted 405 for reps the other night, Mitch. Did you know that? I didn't either. I still don't. But we will be there. The shirts either are available now or will be available very shortly at paidstatematerial.com. I'm just waiting to see how those colors look on our shirt. Because we, like, remember the Virginia Tech shirt a few weeks ago pressed through a picture of it up and everyone collectively was like, wow, that shirt looks good. And that thing sold very well. We'll see how the Wake Forest shirt sells. Jake Dickert. Let's see if we can get him on the show Friday. Fingers cross, knocking on wood. It's going to be a fun trip over there. We try to go to as many new camp-eye plural of campus during the season as we can. And we've never been to Wake Forest. Now, I said I was going to tell you something that would shock you. This is going to shock you. Hold on. Hold on. I'm seeing something in the live chat. This has nothing to do with Wake. Josh paid is the one who said Ohio State's season is over without Julian saying. I don't, this is why I don't like, this why I don't like doing get up sometimes because they clip stuff. Here's what I think. I think Ohio State's going to lose two more games. That's what I think. The percentage chances of that I think is above 50%. That's why I said what I said. Their season's not over. Like they could make the playoff. I could just be wrong. I'm leaning towards them, not making the playoff. I can't stand it. I know you got to take a stand, like I know it's black and white here. That is just not the way I see the world. There are a lot of shades of gray. That's kind of how I see the world. Of sports, college football at least. You about to say something? Too loud for you, Jesse? Not allowed enough? Oh, you wanted me to. Was that the hand motion you've been giving me? You do a lot of stuff in there, and I don't know what it means. Do you see Jason Echo on the sideline last night going like this? Jesse has a bad misunderstanding of what hand signals and TV mean. What you were doing this one day to me out of the lead 11. Apparently, this means wrap up. I'm sitting here thinking that means stretch. Keep going. Keep going. You and Jason Echo know nothing about production. At least he beat North Dakota State. Everyone knows you didn't squat four or five or five reps, Jesse. Everyone knows that. Okay. So anyway, back to the story all over the place right now. Back to the story. You know how people falsely alleged that this is just an SEC show and that the tour only goes to SEC locations. Now, that's of course a lie. When we announced that we were going to wait for us today, a lot of people made fun of it. I don't care. We're going wherever we want to go. But just out of curiosity, I clicked on the profiles of some of the people who were making fun of us going to the Wake Forest game. And you can quickly tell whether or not you have a DM history, a direct message history, with the person whose profile you clicked on. And Jesse, would you be shot to learn that I took like 30 seconds to do this, maybe a minute.
And I found four different people who were making fun of us going to Wake Forest this weekend who have alleged that we only go to SEC venues. Would that shock you? - I'm former USman's National Soccer Team Player, Carly Lloyd, a box sports reporter, Jenny Taft, and on our new podcast, whatever it takes, we're talking motherhood, marriages, careers, and figuring out how to balance it all. And we'll discuss the game that brought us together because nothing is off limits. - Do you remember your initial reaction when Fox called you to be a part of the World Cup? - I was like, "No, I don't want to do it." You said, "No." - I played with players that didn't. I don't think that they really, truly loved the game. I found the love with the ball at my flight. But in my head, it was the long game. It was like, "I don't care what I'm being asked to do at Fox. I'm gonna go get some reps, and I'm gonna learn it, and love it, and embrace it." - He said, "This group of people will never be in the same room as part of the same team ever again in your life." And it is your job to make sure that you enjoy the moment, you're proud of what you accomplish together. - Listen to whatever it takes with Carly Lloyd and Jenny Taft on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. - Hey, this is Rob from The Stuff to Blow Your Mind Podcast. October is our month. So once more, we devoted all of it to spooky topics, like scarecrow, spooky lakes and lost tombs. Now join us for the final week of Halloween shenanigans as we look for slasher killers in the Greek traditions of Heracles and discuss a couple of spooky short stories in our annual Grimmore of Horror episode. And don't forget our Friday Weird House Cinema episodes as we cap off a month of horror movies with 1981's The Monster Club. Listen to Stuff to Blow Your Mind on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. - Football's back. Hey, it's Drew Franklin from NFL Cover Zero. Enjoy the NFL season while listening to NFL Cover Zero. We have storylines, predictions and lots of silliness. Here's what you can expect from the podcast in our second season. - When you meet people and you say your job's a sports announcer, it's always interesting to see what the first thing they say is. I did have one of the more difficult questions though. He sits next to me and he sees I'm on my computer and he goes, big sports fan. And I was like, yeah, actually, and he goes, we met my Jaguars this year. I realized like no one's ever asked me that question ever about anything. And I was like, do you vote? - Listen to NFL Cover Zero on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. - Hey, what's up y'all? It's Quest Love. And on the Quest Love show, I've been sitting down with some really interesting people. And I've got two recent episodes. You should check out. I caught up with my good friend, Jojo, to talk about her music, her career, and what she's been up to. - Don't invite me to karaoke. I'm gonna make it weird. Someone's gonna try to sing, leave get out or too little too late or baby too. And I'm gonna be like, okay, cool. - I also caught up with Wallace II-6-7 for a conversation that covered his story, his perspective, and plenty more. - I don't even call it cheat day because of life day. I'm not doing that. Don't try to be slick and just go Sunday. Go Wednesday. - This is what you do. - Sleep later. Make a reservation for the rest of our later. Just chill. Listen to the music you wanna listen to. Just enjoy it. It's gonna be all right. Nothing's gonna happen. You wanna wake up Wednesday and go like, ah, you're gonna feel better. - And those are just two of the many recent episodes of the Quest Love Show. Listen to the Quest Love Show or the I Heart Radio app, app, podcast, wherever you get your podcast. Peace. - Me neither. Let's move on. Let's talk about this great SEC game last night. Texas beat Ole Miss 34 to 27. Some people said five chalai. I say four and a half chalai, but buddy, the pucker meter nearly broke into pieces in Austin, Texas last night. One of those rare situations on the pucker meter where the team with the lead still had the pucker meter going off the charts because that team was Texas and we all know what was on the line here. Everyone remembers the conversation last week and the shark piece and the arch piece and all that sort of thing. And when you get up 24 to three and then you give that lead up, buddy, it's pucker time. The most important stat in this game where Texas gave away a lead and then won it anyway is the following. This is the paper popper of the weekend to me. Relic Brown, 23 carries 157 yards. Texas, as a team, nearly five yards per carry. I didn't think they had it in them and they did. This is an Ole Miss team fresh off giving up 39 total yards rushing to Missouri. And Texas got it done on the ground. That right there, I know the headlines will be archmaning and all this stuff. That right there is the game for Texas. When they needed it, when they had to have it, when Ole Miss had come back to tie that game, they went on an 80 yard touchdown drive. And Jesse just out of curiosity, how many of those 80 yards on that game winning drive were rushing yards? All 80? Yeah, yeah, that's what I thought. That right there is something that you could package up and duplicate. That is duplicable. I don't know how duplicable, it's tough to say, multiple times. A lot of this other stuff is, like using dowd as your fuel and all this. I'll touch them on that in a second, I don't like that, but that was big. That was really big. Bad lock stats. Because you were able to run the ball, you were able to withstand 14 penalties for 134 yards. That's a bad lock stat, meaning if I told you that on Friday, you would have said, hang the L on Texas. Nope, how about three of 13 on third down? What if you heard that Friday? How about three turnovers for Texas? Now, what you also need to know is Ole Miss turned the ball over three times, so turnover margin was even in this game, yes. But huge for Texas, they're a long way from out of the woods. They still have very little margin for error, but it was all on the line here, and they did get the job done. So I'm gonna get back to them in a second. We finally got that Trinidad Chamblist floor game. By that, I'm saying I think this is probably about as bad as he'll play all year, which is saying a lot, 'cause he's still kind of good. But he was under 50% completion percentage, and had three interceptions. The last one, if you wanna count that or not, whatever, still two interceptions here, but the run game was taken away. They had 29 carries for 114 yards total, but their tail backs were held to 83 total rushing yards, and Kiwan Lacey was limited here. But I just go back to the Texas part of this for a second. They still have Mississippi State this week. They go to Missouri, they go to LSU, they got Arkansas, they go to A&M. Obviously you'd circle Missouri, you'd circle LSU, both of those games are on the road. Here's what I wanna know. How much of that entire formula last night is sustainable? 'Cause you've probably used coffee to get you through like a dreary part of a day or something like that. You've probably chugged a red bull or like pounded a five hour energy when you've got 30 or 50 more miles to go to home and it's late at night, temporary energy sources. We're familiar with those. It felt like Texas tapped into a lot of that last week. Listening to archmaning talk, listening to sark talk, I don't blame them 'cause you gotta do whatever it takes to get a win. You can't be thinking long term. You're thinking this Saturday and then edge of a cliff. And we can't be looking past this Saturday when do or die mode, I understand all that. I am wondering out loud how much of it is sustainable? 'Cause the one thing that I kept coming back to was archmaning to talking about having a little different edge to him and talking about how well I've been praised my whole life. Maybe I need to be doubted. Just go play. Like just go win. You've got God given ability. 99.9% of the other people on the earth will never have. You don't need to worry about external factors. Why do you need to be doubted? Just do your thing. Just take care of your business. No matter what anyone says, what happens, by the way, it's used to always be my beef with Davos winning. They would do that little cleansing thing. They'd do that us against the world thing. Well, the good news is when people are doubting you, there's a fuel, there's an energy source there, but it only works till they don't doubt you anymore. What happens when they stop doubting you? Your formula is shot because of the very fuel source you used to power you while you were doubted is gone 'cause no one doubt you anymore when you succeed. Point being, don't use it as fuel to begin with. Good lesson, kids. Just operate to your maximum capability. How about that? Independent of whether people believe in you or people doubt you. You know what that creates, Jesse? Consistency. How great would that be for Texas? Consistency. Trevor Goosby is out for the year. I know it's a hard transition. I'm just saying, that news broke today. Colin Simmons, like he's out for a while. It was not a good night. Cam Coleman, wide open touchdown bud, just dropped. Can't do that, but he's out for a little while too. Like I said, This is the end of the video.
is going to be a tight rope walk the rest of the way. Maybe, maybe just maybe, we're looking back first week of December in the last ever SEC championship game in Texas is in it. And we're looking back on this game as the turning point. Right now the odds to win the SEC title, Texas is fifth. Texas and Kentucky about the same odds to win the SEC championship. It's still Georgia and Alabama. Jesse, do you know that I just realized LSU's got one more loss than Alabama. That's why they'd be, no, they got the same number. So, BAM is got better odds to win. It's cause, is it cause LSU has a tougher combined row? Yeah, cause they got Texas in Tennessee. Yeah. So anyway, forget about all that. It's just a stream of consciousness. Good on Texas for getting this done, man. The whole, it felt like the whole world loaded up on Ole Miss. And I did too, cause I think my direct words were, I'm going to, I'm going to pay to make Texas find out or to make, make myself find out from Texas. And they did, they, they proved me wrong. Good for them. Bad day yesterday for some other people though. It was not a good Saturday for the big 12. There's no other way to put it, man. I mean, last week, there was a lot of talk about whether the big 12 was overrated and whether the big 12 deserved all this praise they had been getting. Well, I thought they deserved every bit of praise they were getting. And then yesterday happened. And I'm like, I'm looking at my mentions and everyone's saying, oh, I bet you regret what you said about the big 12. Of course, I don't regret it. Rankings are not supposed to be predictive. So last week, last Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday when you were talking about Texas tech or you were talking about Brigham Young or you were talking about Utah or whoever, you were talking about that team and that team's resume up to this point. Brigham Young was just coming off a Notre Dame loss or when you weren't factoring in. They're going to go get upset against UCF. If it happens, then you reassess. So I had no problem with the praise that the big 12 was getting last week. I was feeding into it. But now it's time to react to another set of data. In this case, it means Texas tech losing the Cincinnati. It means BYU fallen the UCF. It means Utah beating Houston. And so Cincinnati over Texas tech is big. Last week at this time, Texas tech was minus 120 to make the playoffs. They're now plus 300. And those of you who don't understand odds, just understand that means it fell pretty drastically. Brigham Young's odds to make the playoffs minus 149 last week plus 145 now. Again, that's a pretty steep decline. It's not really steep, but it's still a decline. And Utah Houston, the reason that outcome's big is Utah remains undefeated. So like what a win last night for Utah, by the way. But it kind of bumps Houston from that group of potential one loss big 12 teams because they got two losses now. So the big 12, I don't think they were overrated last week. I thought they were properly rated. But now you got to adjust. And the big question was, is this going to be a chaos year in the big 12? Or are we looking at sort of a tier one separation? Because if we were living in a world where Texas tech, Brigham Young and Utah and Houston, they were just going to separate. Then we were looking at a real possibility of getting to selection Sunday and having three or maybe four undefeated or one loss big 12 teams. And at that point, you know, the whole theory was, is it really going to come down to the committee having to decide between an 11 and one Houston and a 9 and 3 LSU, an 11 and one Texas tech, a 9 and 3 Texas. Can you imagine that, by the way, it came down to Texas and Texas tech, which by the way, it still could, like that is still a very real possibility. It's still possible. It's just far less likely. After yesterday's results, the path significantly narrowed if it's, but it's very important to note a lot of that stuff still in play. So you've got Utah right now, still seven to know. You got three one loss teams in this league right now, Brigham Young, Arizona and Texas tech. And then you got three two losses. Now, I'm going to give you my personal feel on this because a lot of these teams still have to play each other. Like Arizona has Texas tech and Utah. Brigham Young plays Utah on the Holy War. Texas tech plays Oklahoma state. So you're going to thin it out a little bit more even than it already is. I'm just going to give you my personal feel on this. I don't think the two loss big 12 teams are going to be alive much comparatively with any of the three loss SEC teams or something like that. I think the big fight will be if you have one loss big 12 teams versus three loss SEC teams from a playoff selection perspective, from a committee ranking perspective. So right now, we've got one, two, three, we kind of got four teams that we're talking about right now from the big 12 that are still technically alive there. But the red light on the horizon is that it's we have the first batch of playoff rankings coming out a week from it's a week from today, right, Jesse? Or no, no, it's next Tuesday. It's Tuesday. It's a week from this Tuesday. So it's nine days away right now. A few things that I'm watching. Number one, how are they talking about Notre Dame? Number two, how are they ranking the big 12 teams? Like how are they interpreting those resumes? Are they really of the same opinion that a lot of America is that, boy, some of these SEC strength of schedules, strength of records are like really, really above and beyond. Or are they kind of falling back into you are what your record says you are mode? Don't know. It's a new group of people every year. Don't know yet. But yeah, not the best of days for the big 12. Let's move on. Let's get back to the games. Happy to have you guys in, by the way. Please make sure that if you haven't already, you are subscribed to the channel. Why? Well, no reason for you. But it helps us out. That's it. Alabama 31. Sorry, Bradley. Alabama beat Texas and in 31 to 20. Game was close. I'll give it three child live. We were going to know which kind of game we were getting here pretty quickly. And so we found out because when this is 14 to 10 a.m. It's just game on. I really thought this was going to be either a sleeper, you know, 34 to 10 type game, or it was going to go down to the wire. Kind of hard to envision something in between. Ironically, the final score was in between, but that wasn't the kind of game we got. So Alabama just beat to death. And therefore I was taking nothing for granted here. I know A&M has been terrible on the road. And they've been poor all year. It didn't matter. It's just to me, it didn't matter in this game. So the live experience for me, I think, was really harrowing because we were at the Tennessee South Carolina game. So my last, my last view of that of the Alabama Texas A&M game before I was just out of it for a little while was A&M's up 2017. Alabama misses a field goal. A&M's got the ball in their driving and it's late third quarter. Okay. So then we're at another game. I got no wifi for a little while. I'm thinking, Bama probably lost the game. Like I was just thinking in my head because I'm not knowing what's happening in the fourth quarter live. I think they probably lost that game. They had lost on top of the injuries they already had. They lost another offensive lineman in the game. I saw one of their defensive tackles go down. They had a corner. I think ejected for targeting. I want to say that happened. So I'm thinking they've lost the game. We're running the ball worth anything. And so I was fairly shocked when I finally got service again and it was 31/20 was the final. I had no idea how it happened since then I've gone back and watched the game. Obviously, but that fourth quarter is massive. Like when you understand the situation from my health perspective, that team was in. It's one of the more surprising results of the day yesterday, honestly. It feels like when you're watching them for the past couple of weeks in yesterday, just watching them try and create something out of the limited pieces they have is like watching people try and hold water in their hands. Tries you might like you can't do it. It's right there, but you can't do it. And they looked like that and it felt like that. And then they outscore in 14 0 in the fourth quarter. Keelan Russell was 19 of 30 for 311. The explosive play was back yesterday. That was a big part of this because they averaged 16.4 yards per catch. He had eight completions of 15 plus and four completions of 30 plus. And that was a really big deal because they didn't run the ball very effectively at all yesterday. This was a by any means necessary type Saturday for Alabama. I'm going to talk about them more in a second. Texas A&M, it kind of is what it is. There is no Marcel Reed game that's going to happen this year where he wows you at all with his arm and it doesn't come with a few interceptions. There were times yesterday. If you watched him, there were stretches of that game yesterday. I was listening to the TV broadcast of it for a little while and Joe Tess. There were a few times. He said, boy, this is a different Marcel Reed than we've seen in a while. And that's great. He's not putting the ball in the air that many times without it costing you. And it did. And it did early. They had two turnovers in like the first five minutes. There was a pick six in the first five minutes and they had five yards in the fourth quarter of this.
this game, which is probably the ultimate shame to them because you had bam on the ropes and then you're the one that gets knocked out. So that game may look a lot different in a month and a half because if you're watching it yesterday, your impressions probably, okay, bam, I just won this game, but wow, they look vulnerable. It's because they are. It's because they're beat to death. The good news for them is they made it to their bi-week and they're about to get a ton of those players back. Just talking to some people there today, they're going to get a lot of those players back for the LSU game. That's why their goal was to get through this game by any means necessary. Get to the bi-week. We'll get a lot of guys back. That's going to be a war in two weeks. Both of those teams already have two losses, but I am asking myself the same thing about this game as I am about Ole Miss Texas. You could watch Texas right now and you could say, boy, man, that's still a flawed team. They all are, guys, every single one of them is. So someone's going to survive a scare this time of year that doesn't really sell you on the team, but it keeps that team alive, and they're going to go on to string some wins together, and they're going to go on to get in the playoff and make a run, and we're going to look back on some game like this, or if it's not this one, another game like this, and you're going to say, but you remember that A&M Alabama game? How they look so ugly, but they won it? How that outcome was a lot bigger than I realized at the time. That's happening all over the country right now. I said earlier today, there's some team that looks hideous right now that's probably going to make the final four, because that's just the landscape right now. Like no one looks dominant. Miami looked incredible yesterday. They're one week removed from being taken to overtime against FSU. Noted aimed just loss last week. Indiana's having to scratch out wins by any means necessary. Nobody looks elite. Ohio State's lost their starter. Georgia, the last time they played, they lost to Auburn. No one's elite. So that means a very, very imperfect quadrant of teams are going to make the final four. You've got to find four teams here. You can't find four elite teams. You can't find one elite team right now. So someone, it looks really shaky right now that's just staying alive and it could be Alabama. It could be LSU. It could be Texas. It could be any of these teams. It could be Florida for all we know. They were off yesterday. Lovable. Often how people describe me, yes, it is. It's not part of the read. It's just a fact. We have partnered with Lovable. Told you about this the other day. I got a lot of questions about Lovable. It's good. You should be asking questions. What is Lovable? Well, a software creation platform. Very, very, very fun for us because we have a lot of product ideas here at Pate State. For the show, we have a lot of product ideas. This is a platform that allows people to sort of act on problems and opportunities. Like, for example, if you think you have an idea in mind or you're looking at something and you're saying someone should do this. Someone should build this. You just do it with Lovable. You can do it right now. They plan, they design, they build and they iterate with you and then they make it sustainable for you. So you can go from an idea. Like, for instance, with us, I can tell you live depth charts. We had a specific kind of depth chart we wanted. We just build it with Lovable. Boom. It exists right now. We've got it. We'll probably publicize it one day. We've got a whole lot of products that we've built through Lovable because we had ideas. We wanted them. They didn't exist. It's shockingly easy, by the way, shockingly easy. So everyone knows either something that exists and should be better or something that should just exist. You can do it. You can go to Lovable.com and start building today. It's really fun. It's really fun. I'm former USman's National Soccer Team player, Carly Lloyd, a Fox Sports reporter, Jenny Taft. And on our new podcast, whatever it takes, we're talking motherhood, marriages, careers, and figuring out how to balance it all. We'll discuss the game that brought us together because nothing is off limits. Do you remember your initial reaction when Fox called you to be a part of the World Cup? I was like, no, I don't want to do it. You said no. I played with players that didn't. I don't think that they really, truly love the game. It was like, I don't care what I'm being asked to do at Fox. I'm going to go get some reps, and I'm going to learn it and love it and embrace it. He said, this group of people will never be in the same room as part of the same team ever again in your life. And it is your job to make sure that you enjoy the moment, you're proud of what you accomplish together. Listen to whatever it takes with Carly Lloyd and Jenny Taft on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, this is Rob from The Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast. This October is our month. So once more, we devoted all of it to spooky topics like scarecrow, spooky lakes and lost tombs. Listen to Stuff to Blow Your Mind on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Football is back. We have storylines, predictions, and lots of silliness. When you meet people and you say your job is a sports announcer, it's always interesting to see what the first thing they say is. He sits next to me and he sees I'm on my computer and he goes, "Big sports fan." And I was like, "Yeah, actually, and he goes, "We've got my Jaguars this year." I realized, like, no one's ever asked me that question ever about anything. And I was like, "Duh-woah." Listen to NFL Cover Zero on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, what's up y'all? It's Quest Love. And I've got two recent episodes you should check out. Don't invite me to karaoke. I'm going to make it weird. Someone's going to try to sing, leave get out, or too little, too late, or baby, too. Oh, no. And I'm going to be like, "Okay, cool." I also caught up with Wallace II-67 for a conversation that covered his story, his perspective, and plenty more. I don't even call it cheat day, 'cause a life day. I'm not doing that. Go Wednesday. This is what you do. Sleep, ladies. Make a reservation for the rest of our lady. Just chill. Listen to the music you want to listen to. Just enjoy it. It's going to be alright. NFL is going to have you awake. Wake up Wednesday. I'm like, "Ah." And you're going to feel better. And those are just two of the many recent episodes of the Quest Love Show. For the I Heart Radio app, app podcast, wherever you get your podcast. Peace. Okay, some more winners and losers here. We still got a lot to get to. Let's start rolling. Man, LSU handled Auburn yesterday. Like that game was never really all that competitive. They doubled up Auburn in total yards. Sam Levitt, 32 of 45 for 387. It's just not really a competitive game. It's probably one you turned off pretty early. Byron Brown, right back to being sacked seven times. So you beat Georgia, that's great. It sort of reverted right back to what it kind of had felt like. LSU heads into the by looking really good. Really good. Okay, there are a few teams in the SEC doing that right now. LSU is one of them. And they're getting some guys back. They got trade-as-green back. Levitt, he's still limited with the hamstring. But hey, if that forces him to go 32 of 45, that's not a bad problem to have. Their next game is against Alabama at home in 13 days. As is always the case in the SEC, that one will have big time SEC and CFP implications. Miami splattered pit. My only regret is I didn't fire the tweet off. But Miami splattered pit yesterday. And then did Cristobal give Narduzzi like a flare chop or did he do it with the palm? I think he back slapped him with the palm. Still, I heard it. I think I heard a little on TV. Do you see that, Jesse? No, no. Don't be inappropriate in there. No, no, no. 274 passing yards, dot, dot, dot, in the first half for Darian Manson. They just played around with pit, man. That's what they did. I don't know how else to describe it. They kind of just messed around with him. It's like, hey, hey, you know what to be funny? Let's do this. That's how Shannon Dawson called plays yesterday. Darian Manson and Tony, they went off. These are the current number two and number three players in the odds to win the Heisman trophy. Their next two games at North Carolina and then at Notre Dame. Does that make North Carolina a classic look ahead game? Yes. Will it matter? Probably not. We'll see. Indiana beat Michigan 13 to 6 and overtime. What a thrill ride this game was. 81 passing yards. That was good enough to win this game.
eight of eighteen Josh Hoover clearly not a hundred percent my question with him is will he be a hundred percent is this the kind of thing that if they can get through minnesota and they can get to their by week is this the kind of thing where he looks a lot better if he has time to rest they were good enough on the ground yesterday they had a hundred thirty one look guys i'm going to spare you time there's not much that's impressive about this box score but it it's like varying degrees of less ugly that's kind of what you're looking for is the is the padlock stats michigan ran seventy four plays and scored six points are you serious i didn't even know that was real just yet i thought you were joking about that one more game for indiana then the buy one more game i picked this team to go to the national championship game the other day i'm not backing off of it quite yet but look defenses there defenses there just how far can it carry you virginia tech beek Clemson last night no one even paid attention virginia tech beek Clemson twenty to sixteen and the college football world collectively looked at and said oh okay like that's what it means now for Clemson to lose a home game just oh yeah okay programs fallen man both of these teams one to three hundred yards huge credit to james franklin get this done in year one there's six and two right now good for them bad for Clemson really bad for Clemson and you know the noise it quieted down around there for a second because i think they had a buy but they had played Charleston southern and uh. now they go to florida state and at Syracuse back-to-back and got Georgia tech and then at Duke and South Carolina in the year my guess is they lose two more games minimum and they already got three losses so we're looking at a five loss maybe a six-law season for Clemson and uh. again no one no one believes that it's gonna happen there at this point it's just kind of you ask yourself with the contractual situation plus the legacy situation how do you handle it i have i don't have an answer for you i don't know but i just i found myself last night watching that and there was a moment you know if you're if you're eighteen years old watch in that maybe it's but maybe it doesn't punch you in the face like it does someone who's lived through Clemson being bad then Clemson being elite and now them falling all the way back to earth because this is going to be their seventh straight season with three plus losses and they'll probably lose a lot more than three this year and i found myself at one point last night looking and and saying alright you know i kind of got like six or seven games on that ones on one of the quad boxes and i read virginia tech one good and then i thought man that should be more impactful like that visual year one james franklin at virginia tech just walks into Clemson and wins and it's kind of like people yawned at it because it doesn't even mean anything to be Clemson anymore it's crazy man like it i'm not even a Clemson fan it kind of fires me up a little bit angrily but i don't know it is what it is okay when that piece of paper go yeah i had i had to bring separate stats out here for this not the virginia tech Clemson game you know Wisconsin and u_s_c_ play last night fresh off the news that the l_a_ coliseum was sold out for Ohio state coming to town this upcoming week what do they have to do jesse all they got to do is get through was constant and they got run through by was constant uh. you you know what time it is you know why that ten thousand dollar grand piano is over here in the corner ladies and gentlemen it brings me no joy the week eight ceremony lock on special brought to you by court yard the u_s_c_ trojans outscored twenty four seven outrushed one forty two to negative seventeen they left with less rushing yards and they pulled up in the bus with they lost by three scores to a team with fifty eight passing yards two hundred total yards that's it that's all it took they didn't have a single play of twenty plus yards the entire night was constant had five sacks they had nine tackles for loss put another way was constant had more tackles for lost than u_s_c_ had total points i have in my hand the u_s_c_ drive chart it doesn't take long three and out interception interception touchdown halftime mist field goal mist field goal turnover on downs turnover on downs that's it that's the end of the game and maybe more the least amount of points ever for link and riley as a head coach and meanwhile across town bob chesney has u_c_l_a_ in position to do something in your one that link and riley has failed to do in half a decade u_s_c_ and that is sniff the playoffs the week eight ceremony locked the special i don't know what's going to happen there i'm going to talk more about that in a few minutes and there's a lot of conversation rumblings around u_s_c_ as for rumblings that were affirmed Kansas beat baler last night and davir and it was fired today seven seasons i believe into his ten year as baler head coach uh. this was gonna happen last year this probably should have happened last year except that they had problems with the a_d_ and they had to can him and then davir and i got a state of execution and they went and got d_j_ lagway but nothing really got right it and so i look at peat and echo says hot board for the baler job i_c_ jeff trailer i_c_ g_j_ kennie on here i_c_ charlie wise channon Dawson's on their mole linguist is on their you know who else's name is on their link and riley i thought link and riley would go to baler if this job open last year and i think that they will give a strong look to link and riley this year if they can arrange the buyout situation that is messy i don't even pretend to know how that would operate but i think he i'll talk more about it in a second i'm just saying i think u_s_e_ would be very motive vote motivated to make it happen and i think baler would be very motivated to make it happen i think riley may be very motivated to make it happen tough to say motivated stuff to stay motivated stuff to stay and say motivated you know what's not tough to do jesse type in seat geek dot com or download the seat geek app because there are a lot of games the rest of this season october november that i know a lot of you want to be at and it's gonna cost you it may not cost you as much as you think though if you go to seat geek right now george a place floor to this week now in my opinion it should be an happens and the next year it should be in gainsville cause won't be the game will be fun and if you're looking to go like i could score you tickets right now section three thirty three you go to check out right before check out this is the important part type We have storylines, predictions, and lots of silliness. When you meet people and you say your job's a sports announcer, it's always interesting to see what the first thing they say is. I did have one of the more difficult questions, though. He sits next to me and he sees I'm on my computer and he goes big sports fan and I was like, "Yeah, actually." And he goes, "We met my Jaguars this year." I realized, like, no one's ever asked me that question ever about anything. And I was like, "Do you vote?" Listen to NFL Cover Zero on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, what's up, y'all? It's Questlove. And on the Questlove show, I've been sitting down with some really interesting people. Someone's going to try to sing, leave get out, or too little too late, or baby too. Oh, no. And I'm going to be like, "Okay, cool." I also caught up with Walla 267 for a conversation that covered his story, his perspective, and plenty more. Nothing's going to have you awake. Wake up Wednesday. You'll be like, "Ah, you're going to feel better." And those are just two of the many recent episodes of the Questlove show. Listen to the Questlove show on the iHeartRadio app, app podcast, wherever you get your podcast. Peace. All right. Speaking of USC, we got a lot more to talk about here. So Lincoln Riley, there are a lot of questions Jesse and the inbox about Lincoln Riley. William, I just chose his. I could have chosen about five million of them. It seems like he said, "Do you think the terrible Wisconsin loss was enough for USC to pull the lever/leaver on firing Lincoln Riley?" I think they want to. I think the buyout thing is maybe or maybe not prohibitive. But that's kind of what stands in the way. And we could talk about the same thing with Clemson. Like, this is sort of the tail end of the old era. But you're still going to live through it for a little while. By that, I mean, we're on the tail end of some of these contracts that were made in the old way of doing things where there are these massive buyouts, because that's just the way it used to work before money had to be treated as real in college football, translation before you had to pay the players a whole lot of money. So now, you're still dealing with the lingering effects of that. So like, if you've got to pay Lincoln Riley 70 million or 60 million, there's some debates, private schools. So there's some debate about what the buyout is. But either way, it's going to be a huge sum of money. That's kind of reflective of the old way. Davos, 20 at Clemson, if they wanted to make a move. There's a lot more than just waking up one morning and saying, "We feel like we want to move on from this guy." So, I do think that they would prefer to. I don't know that they're going to be able to. But then again, all it takes is one or two or three of the right people or people's being motivated with that kind of money. I've always failed to, I've always stopped sort of criticizing when they won't do it. Because I would just never be able to bring myself to paying my money to pay someone else not to work. So I can't blame other people when they won't do it. I can't do it. I don't care if I'm a trillionaire, I just can't do it. It's a principle thing for me. But this was the year. So let's not talk about whether they will do it. And who knows, maybe they will. I can tell you, there's some reputable people I trust who do believe USC would pull the trigger here. So I'm not saying it can't happen. I don't know if it will. So, man, if it does, it makes sense. This was the year. Like in the big 10, remember media days, remember how USC was kind of a dark horse sort of team. I put them in my playoff field in the preseason. That's how highly I thought of them. Imagine going back to that moment. But then also being armed with the knowledge that Ohio State is going to lose Julian saying probably for the year. Oregon is going to go off the rails. Indiana is going to have to squeak out wins. And we may or may not have a Josh Hoover injury. But either way, he's going to be far lesser than Fernando Mendoza was last year. Michigan's not going to be good. Penn State's going to be terrible. Imagine knowing all that. What would you have said? You would have said, oh, this is it. Yeah, we're going to have to lean on some freshmen. But we got a third year starter at quarterback. We got a coach who's been here half a decade. This has got to be it. Doesn't look like it. And the thing about it is the formula to win in that league. It's not really changing. Like you've got to be able to bloody someone else's nose. Instead of just being the one who gets their nose bloody, did you see, by the way, the quote, it was from Brian Jackson last night after the game. The reason I mentioned him is he's a running back for Wisconsin. But that's not what's notable. What's notable is he also played for USC once upon a time. So you got a guy who has experienced the USC way of doing things. And he's experienced the Wisconsin way of doing things. And this was him after the game. Quote, gritty ain't pretty. We played the harder football game, brought it to them, and they can't really do nothing with us. It's just two different types of football. It's always going to be that way. You're always going to have to deal with an Iowa or a Wisconsin or a Minnesota. And the thing about those guys and those programs is there's no illusion there about who they have to be. They know they got to be that. You're in their league now. You're in their league. You're going to play several of those per year. That's not even to mention what Michigan any given year could be or Oregon or Ohio State. So it's not good enough. And then you watch this game last night. And it's like it was like watching a team. I mean, how do I say this, Brian? Whatever. Let's just throw a spray test. Checked out the window at this point. Watching USC last night was like watching a team that had already been eliminated from playoff contention. Except they weren't. They played the way you could possibly expect South Carolina to play. South Carolina played with their hair on fire, despite having three losses. USC's right in the thick of everything, and they know show. And it's an execution thing, but it's also an effort thing. It's just not there. The juice is just not there. And so yeah, I think they could move on from him. And if they don't, I think the only thing that will have held them back would be the buyout. I guess is the better way to put that. I don't think there's a lot of synergy out there. I don't think Lincoln Riley has a ton of supporters at USC. I'm talking about inside the walls of the athletic department. The folks that matter. I mean, I'm not saying everyone hates each other. I'm just saying it's from the outside looking in and listening in. It's never really felt like there's a whole lot of that magical word that's synergy. It hasn't really felt like there's a whole lot of that. So maybe the buyout is prohibitive. But I will tell you this, there's a market for Lincoln Riley. Maybe it's not amongst USC fans anymore, but just you watch some of the rumblings around a TCU or a Texas tech. Baylor just fired Dave Aranda. Don't think for a second there's not a market for him. That's what kind of interest me moving forward is. If it just straight up comes to you having to spend 60 plus million to fire him, maybe that is a little bit too prohibitive. Maybe you can't stomach that, but if there's a mutual parting of ways that could happen with reduced buyout, that sort of thing happens sometimes. And that's getting a little ways down the road. But guys, those conversations happened last year. I would assume they'll happen again this year. We'll see. But if that job opens, that's an earthquake. That's a big, big time desirable job that roster right now is a loaded young roster. They're not going to stop acquiring talent. So they've got that part of it figured out. You just got to be able to win with them. That's the name of the game. They're watching us in Omaha, Nebraska. Sylvester, Georgia and Dublin, Ohio. Thank you guys so much for being tuned in. Make sure you are subscribed to the channel. We are dangerously close to 600,000 subs. What happens then? I don't know. It's up to Jesse. We'll see. But I want to get there on a force's hand. Okay, so then we head up the coast a little ways. Oregon, not looking much better right now. Matt hit us from Norfolk, Virginia. He said, what do you make of the offensive coordinator firing at Oregon? Is he a scapegoat of a top five team having its playoff hopes ended by October? Or is there more here? Probably both. I mean, yeah, there's a lot to unpack. But I mean, Maringor being fired absolutely is, do we call it a scapegoat? And by the way, if you missed that news earlier today, Dan Lanning announced that offensive coordinator Drew Maringor has been relieved of his duties. He's no longer with the program. It's a lost season. And if you want to view firing an offensive coordinator as a scapegoat, I don't really think Lanning's running from blame or criticism. That's the classical definition of a scapegoat. I need someone else to shoulder all of the blame so I don't have to. Trust me, I scapegoat people all the time. I know how it works. There's what Jesse's right there. I do it all the time. I don't think that's what Dan Lanning's doing right here. Because there's still a lot of season left. You know, so what if they get rid of him and then they still look bad? Obviously, it all funnels back up to Dan Lanning. I just think it's a lost season. And it's a gut-check moment for Dan Lanning. It's a gut-check moment for a lot of that team. And the way I've
If you want to criticize him for this coordinator higher or elevation, because he was there last year, that's fine. It was obviously a failure. It was obviously the wrong decision. I think if you're going to criticize landing for that, don't you have to also heap immense credit on his lap for Kenny Dillingham and Will Stein? Aren't those the predecessors, Jesse? Those were the last two guys there. Two out of three on coordinator higher is not so bad. Here's the bottom line. I think they had a team last year that they got to the playoff. They got smoked in the playoff. I think Dan looked around and said, "I feel like we're really close. I like the dynamic we have here. We've got a ton of this team coming back next year." So we're not going to go out and heavily infuse our roster with the portal. I, when I'm losing two coordinators, don't want to go do this big nationwide search. I want to have the guys in the building. I want to trust the people we've got in the building. I want to keep the premises pretty tight here. In theory, that makes sense. It was just the wrong decision. That's the long and short of it. But the question was, "It was the escape goat or is there more to this?" Of course, there's more to it. I don't even mean behind the scene stuff. Have you watched Oregon? That offensive line, it's been a weakness of this team. What did they not do this year that they did last year? They did not go to the portal and try and significantly infuse that room. They kind of trusted what they had. It's just a misstep. The backup quarterback option. On the surface, if you know you can get Dylan Raiola and Dante more is your starter. And your backup is a guy that comes your way with big 10 starting experience. On paper, that's a great move. It just didn't work out. Raiola is not good. It didn't work out. They've had a ton of injuries. Like these guys, if you look at this laundry list of players here, nobody planned for all these dudes to be out. Did you see who actually took the field against Illinois the other day? Yeah, the team looked terrible. I don't know how else you would expect it to look now. And that's regardless of who the offensive coordinator is. I just think, in a lot of ways, people are still drunk on these dollar figures and you think it absolves you of real world problems. Like if you know Oregon spent 40 million, I can't even remember the number. Let's just say it's 40 million. Let's say they spent 40 million on a roster. People keep throwing this number around. And it's like at six flags, I could go there when I was a kid and you could buy the flash pass. We couldn't afford it, but I'm just saying you could buy the flash pass. What does that let you do? It lets you skip ahead. It lets you look at all the commoners and say, I'm going to skip right to the front of the line. I'm going to ride the ride twice. That's an actual thing with the flash pass, you get to ride it twice. Bull crap. And there's nothing you guys can do about it. That's not the way college football works. I don't really care how much you spend on the roster. There are certain non-negotiables in this sport. There are certain things that can't be sped up. It just takes what it takes. And I think a chunk of the college football public has been fooled into thinking you can buy your way past all that. And I'm not even just talking about Oregon here. It may be it'll take a few years, but I think what the more mature stages of the revenue share NIL era are going to teach us is that money very much matters. You've got to have it. You've got to have talent, but there are other things you have to have. And if you do have them, you could get away with not having to spend as much as the big boys. And if you don't have it, there is no amount of money you can spend to wash it away. This Oregon team had a ton of injuries, but also did not have some of the critical factors does not have some of the critical factors that it takes to be a great team. Okay, is that on Dan landing? Of course it is. I'm just saying I think everybody is vulnerable to this. I think the best in the game are vulnerable to this. Maybe less vulnerable. Certainly it would shot me more if something like this happened to Kirby, if something like this happened to Ryan Day, it could happen. It could happen. I think the difference with those two programs and maybe something to take away here is they tend to spend a little bit more on the guys that they already took out of high school that they want to retain. Oregon does that too. They're not just like straight up portal merchants out there or anything like that. I'm not saying that they are, but I think maybe I don't know actually because the season is still going on. I think probably my biggest question with all this is not will Dan landing go anywhere? No, I mean he's there for a long time. I'm just if we ever get honesty out of him on the record, I wonder what he'd say are the biggest lessons he is in the process of learning right now through all this. Hiring, roster construction, philosophy, just everything's on the table right now, but I mean they're in a storm and it's still got several weeks left and they just got to sit in it right now. There's nothing else they can do. Let's move on. Do you see this AP poll, Jesse? This AP poll has a lot of things that I have beef with past couple of weeks, a little more tranquil. No, no. It's time to take the safety off now. We got to talk about LSU. So the week nine AP poll reaction brought to you by Ram. I got I got to figure it out now. Yeah, no, it's fine. It's fine. Again, if you're listening on podcast, you do not understand the struggle of me trying to track the truck on the on the screen with my finger, but we're good now. So LSU's number 15. Does that mean there are 14 teams better in the country than LSU? I'm sure the AP voters would disagree with that assessment. Maybe they say it's more resume based. But then I would say, well, if it's resume based, why is Notre Dame number five? And then they would say, well, it's a little bit different. Well, I would say, no, it's not actually is not supposed to be I digress. So a lot of you had a problem with LSU being number 15 and I get it. I get it right here LSU behind Texas Tech and Wake is terrible. I get it. I pick LSU to beat both of them if they play today. Here's what LSU's lacking a true quality win. Because they got a couple of losses. This is not a one loss team. Okay, they have lost to Ole Miss on the road very close to a good team. Ole Miss is where they just see their number 12. And then they've lost to Kentucky number nine. Both close losses on the road. I get that I get that you should not get as much blame or fault for that. Maybe even a little credit. I think it's as simple as voters looking and saying, okay, those two losses don't kill them. Where's their quality win? And it's really not there. I mean, yeah, they they ran it up on Auburn yesterday. They're not going to get credit for that. They're not going to get a ton of credit for Clemson. Certainly, they're not going to get credit for A&M, McNeese. No knock on McNeese. I just don't think they're getting a lot of credit for it. Here's what they would get credit for. This is why I'm not going to be too upset. Although I do contend that there's a validity to the point here. Bama, Texas, at Tennessee. They're next three games. That's why I'm not getting upset. Because I don't care if Kentucky is ranked ahead of Alabama right now. I think you and I both know if LSU were to beat Alabama, they would get a ton more credit than if they had beaten Kentucky. That's just kind of the way of an AP voters mind. So everything for LSU's in front of them. Notre Dame is still top five. Notre Dame and Brigham Young, this is a tweet, by the way, if you're listening on podcast, Notre Dame and Brigham Young, didn't they have a head to head, both have won loss? I got no problem with that. I do think it's a slippery slope. If you just blindly adhere to, you know, head to head over everything. But if all else is roughly comparable, yeah, head to head should carry the day. And a lot of people are noticing Notre Dame's five, Brigham Young's eight. They just played what's eight days ago. Brigham Young won, and Notre Dame hardly fell at all. And now they're sitting there at five. And Brigham Young's at eight. And I'm just curious, here's what I'm curious with, even more so than the head to head comparison here. How much do you think Notre Dame being ranked fifth right now reflects the way the college football playoff committee would look at this? Like if the playoff rankings came out today, instead of, I think it's next week, after next weekend's games, where do you think Notre Dame would be? Because if there'd be number five, it's a big problem. And I don't think they would be. My senses tell me they'd be a little lower than five. If I'm wrong, and if this is largely reflective of the way the playoff committee thinks, you got a problem, because Notre Dame plays number one Miami in two weeks. And if they're sitting there at five, and they play a close game against number one, and they lose close, they're not dropping that far. And if that's why I'm very curious, how close this is to what the playoff committee would think? Because if the playoff committee spits out Notre Dame number ten, well, that's a big difference than Notre Dame number five. Because if they're sitting there number five, and they play Miami to within a field goal, and they lose, I don't know how far they're going to drop, because look at where Wisconsin is. You know, Wisconsin's crept up into the top 25. So that's a lot better quality win on Notre Dame's resume, bringing me, or SMU's 19, they've still got them left to play. I was a believer that a two lost Notre Dame is out no matter what. That's what I was a believer of, and I believe it still should be that way. But of course, it's conditional to what the rest of the field looks like, and it's very conditional to the way the playoff committee views them. What about Indiana?
according to many overrated. Jeffrey said Indiana's the most overrated team. They barely beat a crappy Michigan squad and couldn't score more than 13. Well, that is true, but that's all it took to win. So Indiana's fourth right now. I just want to caution everyone. I know Indiana doesn't look as impressive as they did last year, but they're not competing against 2025 Indiana. They're competing against the rest of the present field. And I don't know if you've been paying a whole lot of attention. No one has looked wired to wire dominant. Miami's number one right now. Miami got taken to overtime against FSU a week ago. Like Ohio State right now is without their starting quarterback. Georgia just lost to Auburn and is still number three. So there is nobody out there that you're looking at and saying, "Oh, Indiana shouldn't sniff their jock." Like everybody in this top group is kind of smushed together, but I do want to caution people who keep saying, "Boy, Indiana's very unimpressive." No, they're unimpressive offensively. They're not an unimpressive team. I've watched that defense clamp down on the last two opponents when they needed to and it wasn't good enough against Ohio State. It was good enough against Michigan. All I'm saying is you can't be viewing the stuff in the vacuum. You can't be looking at Indiana in isolation and saying, "Yo, well, yeah, that defense is good, but they can't score." Okay, zoom it out. Comparably, tell me all the teams that are definitively better than them. And then if you want to go resume comparison. Okay, but they went into Nebraska and won. They just lost to Ohio State. They went to Michigan and won. This is the great thing, one of the great things that is misunderstood in top 25 culture. If you play a team that's not in the top 25, they all get lumped together. And that's not the way it should work, okay? I know Michigan's been nothing to write home about this year, but if Michigan let's just say they're ranked 42nd or something like that. 'Cause that's roughly the range Michigan would be in. There's a big difference in playing them or playing the number 82 team, especially when you're playing them on the road. So all I'm saying is it's not you either play to top 25 team or you get zero credit. How about you play to top 25 team, you get some credit or maybe acknowledge that just this anecdotal top 25 moniker's nonsense or even if you wanna keep the top 25 label, let's also understand teams that are relatively close to the top 25, like if I play Wisconsin today and you play Michigan, you shouldn't get praised until the end of time for beating Wisconsin and me to just get laughed at for beating Michigan, like there is some value there. I kinda think I like Indiana where they are. I don't think they're overrated right now, only because I'm comparing them to the rest of the field. Kentucky, however, is very underrated. Mason said if Kentucky had any other helmet sticker that'd be higher and yeah, the big boy helmet stickers, he's absolutely right. Kentucky's too low, their crime is their helmet logo right now or that it's the wrong sport that Kentucky is playing. Kentucky basketball would never get treated this way. Kentucky football is, they've now got wins at A&M, LSU, at South Carolina and at Oklahoma. Again, I'm gonna say, you're sitting there laughing at A&M and Oklahoma, they're not even ranked. I know they're not, I know they're not. They're also not ranked outside the top 100, like there is some value, especially in going on the road and beating those teams, but more importantly, it's who they've beaten, like they've got a win against LSU baked in there, they're only lost as to Alabama, who is number 10 right now. I can promise you, we were talking about Michigan a second ago, if Michigan had that resume, that'd be parked right up there inside the top five, I don't think Kentucky should be any lower than fourth right now, maybe fifth, like maybe Indiana Notre Dame, like Notre Dame should in no world be ahead of Kentucky right now, in no resume merit based world, should Notre Dame be ahead of Kentucky, you can sit there all you want to and tell me, well I meant Notre Dame would be favored on the neutral field, I don't care 'cause this is not supposed to be a power rating, well Josh, I'd pick Notre Dame to beat Kentucky, I don't care 'cause you probably suck at picking games just like we all do, 'cause the year's been very unpredictable, so frankly, I don't even care who I think would win the game. What I do care about is their resume, and if I did a blind resume test, you would put Kentucky's ahead of Notre Dame's 10 times out of 10. The only thing that would change your mind is when I snapped my fingers and the logos appeared and you said, oh, well, I didn't know it was Kentucky in Notre Dame, I think Notre Dame's good, I think they're gonna beat Miami, well now you're ranking teams based on what you think will happen, that's not the way this world's supposed to work. And lastly, some people are saying Arizona's underrated, Jesse. JT said we need to start putting some respect on Arizona's name. I don't disagree. He said they lost to Brigham Young, since then they've quietly demolished everyone in their path, down their top three receivers, no worries. Isaiah Mazzell is just quietly awaiting to announce his arrival. They really have handled business. They've beaten Cincinnati West Virginia Iowa State all by 20 plus and they really smoked Cincinnati and especially Iowa State. And those are not terrible teams, since he just took down Texas Tech. And Arizona had no problem with them, no problem at all. I think they scored half a hundred on West Virginia too. As he said, they've been down receivers. I think they should be ahead of Houston. Why would Arizona be behind Houston right now? I don't know. So I think Arizona, I don't want to put a number on this 'cause we got to do the commissioners poll Thursday. Jesse, I believe we'll have Arizona well up into the teens. It's just my guess. Again, don't quote me on it. Well, you can paraphrase me on it. "Fandal is available everywhere. Just nationwide. See the shining sea. Fandal available on the app. The app is available nationwide. Look at all of those glorious license plates. Favorite license plate, Jesse? I love New Mexico when we were out there. The Lobos wore the jersey. You saw it right, press that teal color. It's awesome. It's amazing. Didn't love getting pulled over in New Mexico so much, but that's neither here nor there. It was there, it's not here, I guess. But yes, Fandal available everywhere. I'm not here to do anything other than apologize for it and say we'll do better. And how are we going to do better? Well, we're going to lay some points. I think we took almost exclusively dogs this week and they were dogs very much so. Tulane is a favorite though. Tulane gets Charlotte Friday night press. Yep, Friday night maybe we'll do Friday night lines in the halftime of this game, who knows? I don't want to get ahead of myself. Tulane minus 10 and a half. That is our first best bet aboard the ramen noodle express. So here's where we are. We're a little over halfway through the season. We're right at 500. These last two weeks have brought us down to right at 500. So very obviously, a team that looks suspect right now is probably going to make the final four and may even win the national title. I think a certain batch of picks out there that looks average right now is about to go in a second half run. And spoiler alert, it's going to be us. It's got to be us. Appreciate you guys so much for watching. Again, make sure you're subscribed to the channel. We're getting close to 600K. Hey, liking the video doesn't hurt either.
