Week 7 Waivers + Rookie WR Rundown - Fantasy Football Podcast for 10/20
54m 56s
The Fantasy Footballers podcast highlights a season of injuries and roster instability, particularly affecting veteran wide receivers like Terry McCauley, Mike Evans, and Devonte Adams. McCauley’s catastrophic injury during a 49ers game exemplifies the risks faced by aging players, prompting discussion on workload management and long-term team strategy. The 49ers' cautious approach with Christian McCaffrey—limiting his touches for playoff protection—demonstrates a shift toward sustainability over explosive production. Coaches’ missteps, such as poor in-game decisions and offensive line failures, further underscore the challenges of maintaining consistency. On the waiver wire, players like Jeremy Bernard, Jacobi Lane, and Antonio Williams emerge as promising targets due to injuries and inconsistent depth. Jordan Mason’s potential return and the emergence of rookies like Omar Cooper and Chigga Conco add strategic value for fantasy managers. The episode also explores trade rumors, including Jonathan Taylor and key player moves, emphasizing the volatility of the stretch run. Ultimately, the discussion reinforces the need for flexibility, long-term planning, and careful evaluation of injury risks and matchup dynamics in fantasy football.
[MUSIC] Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers podcast with your host, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright. [MUSIC] >> Welcome in. [MUSIC] >> Pandemonium, Pandemonium. Moments before the show began, just trades happening in the League of Record people. Trading for big names, Jonathan Taylor, Lamar Jackson, Josh Jacobs. >> So I'm throwing off a little bit because- >> Yeah, I know. >> This show doesn't exist. >> Right now, it's just, gosh, people positioning for the stretch run. But I mean, that's what you guys are doing out there. Injuries galore this year. My super team's already lost two starters for the season. >> We lost another one. >> Yesterday with Terry. >> Oh yeah, Terry McClorent. I mean, yesterday we also, when we got the news on Devonte Adams. >> I don't mean we got news. >> Yeah, I'm sorry, I'm jumping ahead. I was just, I was so bummed out like, Terry, you know, you remember the, the Nick job injury where it was like, with on the Cleveland, what he got. And it was just like, it felt like everybody went. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, I mean, it's, that's how I feel about Terry. >> Because it basically feels like a career. >> Yeah, but it's not like, I love Terry McClorent, me. >> Right. >> Like I'm emotionally connected to this. >> Here's what makes that situation. So those, I didn't see 49ers, 23 commander, 17 last night. Terry McClorent went down with a minute, 40 left in the first quarter. >> Non-contact immediately grabbed his knee. >> Yeah, it's, what I was going to get at was that the commanders were just lambasted. That's a word, right? >> Yeah. >> I think it's lambasted, but. >> Sure. >> Not tomato, tomato. >> Tomato, tomato. For not paying him in time. >> Right. >> Now he was an older wide receiver when the contract got, you know, he came out, he was holding out. They bring him back, he has been worth, I mean, not his fault, got hurt. But also like, we're like, man, pay them in. Instantly, he comes back early, or sorry, he came back late, got the contract. >> Yeah. >> Instantly hurt Mrs. Most of the year. Comes back, now this is a catastrophic injury. I mean, how old is Terry McClorent when he recovered from this, 32? >> Yeah, exactly. >> I mean, this is, they should not have paid him. They could have paid him as a reward for being there during the dog days. But I'm just saying like in retrospect, teams are putting a really tough position. >> Sure. >> When they're having an older player that has done a lot for the team and the franchise and you want to pay him and reward him. But you know that the clocks against him, of all the weeks. In the last two weeks now, we have had, we did that study. >> Oh my gosh, I see where you're going. >> Yeah, so was all this week, one, yeah, it was all this week. One of the studies I did in the off season was, let's find out what happens to the oldest fantasy players that are drafted in the top six rounds. Years gone by. And like the super, super outlier Travis Kelsey's and stuff were the ones that performed. >> Derek Henry and Derek Henry and Derek Henry. So the three names at wide receiver that were on that list, DeVante Adams, who now tore his hamstring. That's the report six to 10 weeks. Mike Evans, who went out there hobbling and left immediately with the Achilles injury. >> Have we? >> I've never seen that. >> And Terry McCormon with a catastrophic injury. All three were the three oldest wide receivers. >> Yeah. >> The Mike Evans injury. He didn't even go to the side. He just got up and he was like, I'll see you guys at halftime. Because I'm out of here. >> I know he knew. >> Yeah. >> And when you saw him in the back and the way he was walking. >> I think he was very scary. >> I assume he had fears of torn Achilles, thankfully it's intact. But not healthy, they need to give him time. Kyle Shanahan already came out and was hopeful he'd play this week. Don't do it. >> Shanahan. >> I know, calm down. >> You got a week eight by. >> I don't think Evans is the kind of guy. Anybody gets to say no to. If Evans wants to play, they're like sure. >> You know what I mean, you've earned it at a certain age. >> I agree, but also at this point you should be able to say you're not allowed. >> Yes. >> I'm not, go ahead, suit up. I'm not putting you in the game. >> Yeah. >> You have to risk the loss. >> Well, for a team that's undefeated. >> Yes. >> 2317 dominant first half by the 49ers. Invisible offense in the second half. >> Seriously. >> By the 49ers. Kitto was five for 69 in a touchdown, three for 94 for Evans before the injury. McCaffrey, nine catches, 16 carries. They are still managing his workload. They said someone on the broadcast last night that illustrates. Well, yeah, it was managed because Kaelen Black got eight carries. And it's also been managed all season. At this juncture of the season before last night's game, he had 130 opportunities on this team. He's had 80 in the same amount of games this year. So they are looking long term with McCaffrey. Because that's what you have to do. We just talked about three older players. When you have a three in front of your name, you're at a higher injury risk. You need to be managed for the long term. And they want to win a Super Bowl. They don't want to have like a record breaking Christian McCaffrey season and then not have him for the playoffs. >> Yeah, I mean, it's smart, but it is absolutely wild that this is managing his workload. >> That's 16 carries, 10 targets. >> Yeah, they felt like monster workload. He was everything for that team, but what is absolutely insane is that, yes, that is less than what they did last year. >> Yeah, I mean, yesterday, well, to put it, you guys are right. I mean, yesterday was the most opportunities he's had in a game for context the week before when they played Seattle in one. He had 14 opportunities. So the first five weeks of the season, he's averaging 17 opportunities of game this year. The first five weeks of the season last year, he was averaging, no, not much more, right around 18, 19 opportunities. But they needed him last night to close the game out. Not all of those touches were like high value touches. It was a lot of clock running out type of stuff. >> Yeah, but we'll take 10 targets. >> That's the good stuff. >> Some mismanagement by the commanders. >> I mean, this was, they did it again. >> 100% Dan Quinn thought on one play that they could get you said. >> No, no, no, today on press car, he said, I knew I was fourth down. >> Yeah, I was talking about other things. >> He said the word feel goal. >> Yeah, no, it was, it was. >> I wanted a fourth down feel goal. >> He explained that, but also, liar, liar pants on fire because the timing of it, you got really upset after were, like you would have been upset when you threw the ball away, but you weren't. You were upset 20 seconds later. >> Yeah. >> When you certainly didn't find out it was fourth down, but also Daniels, like last week we were having the question, is this a Dan Quinn or a Jayden Daniels problem? Who's at fault? 'Cause they're both at fault, but who's more at fault? And now this week, who's at fault? They're both at fault. Who's more at fault? >> Who's at fault first? >> I don't know, but they're both dumb dumb. >> Let's have the fantasy discussion about the void left by the wide receiver. >> Yeah. >> Tournament chlorine. >> You have, you know, Diggs is very limited at this juncture of his career in terms of what he offers on the outside big plays. He's gonna be, he's gonna be the possession guy. >> Yeah, I think he's, his floor just went up. >> It's, I think it's super high. I think his floor, now I don't think his ceiling is high. >> Agreed. >> But his floor should be as good and as safe as just about anyone out there would expect for him to have nine targets every single day. >> Here's the problem that I would illustrate. And if he scores, you're gonna be happy. But it's very much like Keenan Allen and Indianapolis that nobody was fighting on the waiver wire for in the sense that the targets are always gonna be there. If he doesn't score, you're gonna have a game. It's gonna be a lot of like seven for 51, six for 44. Plus 90 was six for 44. It's a full PPR play. >> I actually have a different, like Antonio Williams, you can go fight for him if you want to, right? He'll have opportunities. Traylon Burke's actually looked really good. Diggs, we talked about him. Dami Brown, he'll be involved. They may trade for somebody. BTJ is the rumor this morning to Washington. I think the biggest beneficiary on a week to week basis that may now be a startable asset as Chigga Conco. I think Chigga Conco is going to become that go to wide receiver slash. >> Good. >> You know, he's, he's always been an athletic freak. A big play type of guy. 69 yards receiving last night. Seven targets, caught all seven of them. That's the name I wanted to just bring up. >> Yeah, absolutely. And the fact that he plays a position where if you go out there and have, you know, four for 66, Diggs line without the touchdown, you'd be happy at tight end because you can scoop that up up of waivers. The issue, and we'll talk about it at, you know, and when we get into the waiver wire segment here, later in the episode, they go to buy. >> Yeah. So picking up these players, Antonio Williams and Chigga Conco, they should be picked up, but you've got to consider that how good are they, worth, you know, being two weeks away, a stash, a roster spot. You know, it's not like what you're getting when Chigga comes back is a league winning asset. I would be very surprised there. >> Yeah, I'll be very curious to see what happens if they're active in the trade situation. one and for now the East has lost or tied.
Every game they've played in the last two weeks. - Crazy. - Where are the commanders going? Where's Philadelphia going? Where are the giants going? Like, you know, Dallas has been awful. Dallas is probably my favorite to win the division at this point. - Everyone is in it. - I mean, the giants are having to deal with almost certainly a transition to J.J. McCarty. That could work. It could also very much not work. - Yeah, I mean, right now you've got a, I would imagine, I don't have the odds in front of me, I would imagine the Cowboys and my- - No, Cowboys. - Oh, perfect. Because our plus 130, the giants are 154. - Yeah. - That makes perfect sense. - And everybody else's long shot. - There was a comment last night by the beat reporter for the commanders. This is the worst. I've ever seen a commander's office. - Well, this was a long time. - And this was a long time. - Oh, that was in the office, yes. - Yes, yeah, yeah. - And then, so that was sad. - That's right. - And we've seen what's going on with our offensive line. And then on a Hail Mary attempt. - They can't even get the pass. - They rushed three guys. - Oh, that was so embarrassing. - They rushed three players against- - Against six. - Blockers. - And all three guys got to 'em. - And Jade Daniels got smushed. - I mean, it was an embarrassment. You had two offensive linemen blocking- - Would you say it's inoperable? - Yes. You had two offensive linemen blocking nobody, which kind of not their fault. They line up there and there's no one there. But then you had two to figure it out. - You had two double team, the guy on the right, who they both missed. - I mean, it was- - Jade was actually driving with for an opportunity to be inside the 20 with a couple shots at the end zone until that unbearable grounding. - Yeah, they did get bailed out on a penalty here or there. But it turned into a fun game from what was- - Yeah. - Such a boring game. And also, I just got to, dude, Fred Warner. - What do you want to say? - He's on belief open. He is, the defense is- - He's got to say his name. - The defense is decimated for the Niners and they look like the best defense in all of the land. - I just got to say, he vandalically feel- - That's what- - Exactly. - Because that was- - Exactly. - I was gonna come in and say Mustafa last night, the safety. - Dude. - Number one. - Yeah. - Number one. That guy's biceps are out of this world and he made some freaking plays, dude. It was awesome. - Moofasa, okay. - Oh, that's what he was doing. - Yeah, okay, okay. - That was Jason's joke. Yeah. - Yeah, Swiss symbol. - This is CNN. - We have- We have NFL news to cover. We've got a waiver wire show and we've got shenanigans throughout. We'll see if more trades happen in our league. We can tell you what happened shortly. Let's talk news. - News and notes from around the league. - What happened before the show began is that Jason managed to trade a TBD, but should be good, Josh Jacobs to the Packer fan in the room and Lamar Jackson away to Al. - I was only making his run. Mike managed to trade his draft capital to acquire Jonathan Taylor, which- - He's pretty good. - Now there are, ironically, there are trade rumors around John Taylor that happened this whole year. Did you see the specific team? - No. - The Seahawks. - It was the Seahawks. - Oh, that would be a waste of my draft picks. (laughing) It's so sad that the rumors about price and a pick for Jonathan Taylor. - You know the best part. - The funniest part of this is Seattle, which if they did, they would trade for Jonathan Taylor, elite workhorse running back on top tier running back contract and they would put him in a platoon. - They probably would. - No, they would not. - They would not platoon, Jonathan Taylor. He would not tolerate such things. They realized their mistake with Ken Walker. It is as evident as the sky is blue. - I hope so. - They are three and three. - The Walker meeting. - Ken Walker is breaking records, but. - Anyways, that's what happened in our League of Records and more trades to come, I'm sure. News-wise, JCM went on injured reserve, Bill, which sucks. - Yeah, so Rashad White. - Yeah, we didn't know who it was going to be that was going to step up into the role how healthy is Rashad White? How healthy is Austin Eckler? - Both were in non-contact jerseys for. - They both were irrelevant. - For the most part, you got to touch down. - We had to do a tiebreaker for the Wheel of Shame this week and Rashad White's over was, or his more, was part of my thought process. - I got it for you. - Well, what got it for you was Terry McClure went down, 'cause that's it. He was carted to the locker room, season ending injury, most likely Mike Evans Achilles we talked about. A Debo unlikely return until after the buy week for the Giants. - Makes sense. - Trade offers, rumors for them is John Jennings who's been yelling on the sidelines at the head coach in Minnesota. He's got no more work, no opportunity. He wants out 49ers want him back. - It makes too much sense. - For those that, I mean, just insult to insult, I think is the way I'll put it. The Giants released Naji Harris, who I spent fab on to play and lose against Jason has now been cut. - They don't have to worry about a four way time share anymore. - I think he criticized the time share and they said, "Well, let's fix it." - Harbaugh came back. So Naji said it's really hard to get in a groove. He's never dealt with this before he gets a couple of carries, says, "Okay, this is how they're playing in." - All running backs, say this. - Yes, and then Harbaugh's answer was, well, we don't have that guy. We don't have a Derek Henry. I want one. One of these guys needs to step up, but they aren't. He was pretty much putting all of his running backs on blast. Then they cut Naji. So now it's a three way time share and it seems like it will be a three way time share. - Yeah, so what else is going on? The Devont Adams News hamstring, tendon injury, sideline six to 10 weeks. I heard he was going to undergo a procedure to try to get him towards the six week period, which, look, when the news first broke, my instant reaction was, "This dude is out for the year." But six weeks is not, you know, there's a big gap between six and 10 weeks. 10 weeks you're going to not really have him for the fantasy season. Six weeks, there is an opportunity for him to come back. - Sure. - Here's why-- - 30 all of the hamstring. - Well, the reason I mentioned it is because where are the Rams going to be at that juncture? A lot of people watching the game against Arizona said four and eight. Said Pukinakua didn't look healthy. And if Pukin's not healthy or he goes on IR, there is a point where maybe Adams comes back and he's the next, he's the top dog again. I'm not optimistic about that return, but it's also-- - It's worth the time period. - Yeah, because if it's six weeks, he comes back in week 13. Playoffs will start in fantasy playoffs in week 15. So you might have a couple weeks to come. - It's possible. I don't expect that to happen. I think it'll be closer to the 10 week timeline, but it really comes down to their record. So if the Rams, I feel like if the Rams start winning, they're two and four right now at the bottom of the division. If they go on a run and start winning, I think they will let Devonte Adams have as much time as possible so that they can make the playoffs and have him healthy unless they need him to win these games. - Yeah, the Rams fans are having a hard time and they're talking, well, do they tank? Like Aaron Donald has been awful. He has no sacks. He has two tackles. And so they're like, does he re-retire? Do they try Ty Simpson at some point in the year? Does Miles Garrett take as much time to come back? Does Puca have the surgery? Like, what do you, you know, I think it's way too early for those-- - Losing. Way too early for that. - Yeah, I think they'll be fine. They are still a top tier offense. We'll see what happens without them. - The next month, Raiders have been good, but that is a winnable matchup. Then the Chargers who are terrible. The commanders who have lost enough pieces on their bat and the Cardinals. So again, who granted they just lost to, but they could reel off four wins here. - What if they're the first victory for the Chargers? Would that be your signal to the tank? - Yeah. - Romeo Dobbs placed on IR. I didn't see that news until just now. - Yeah, that one. So if you missed it, he caught the huge touchdown from Drake May, hard landing. - Wow. - Heard his shoulder. And, oh man, if you just need to go back and watch the video. 'Cause his teammates are like trying to celebrate with him, they're like, "Yeah, 'cause you caught an awesome touchdown." But he's like, "No, do it, I'm down, I'm down." And they're like, "Yeah, rain." They like started like punching on him. - Yeah, really? - Dude, 'cause the IR. - It was, it was, no guys, I'm really hurting here. - Yeah, it was, my shoulder's broken. - It was rough. - Sterling. - Well, they're, yeah, Matt just shared it for us, like. - Yeah, it was. - It was AJ Brown and Douglas. - Yes. - They were like, they were trying to hype him up. - No, I know, I know. - It's just, when you give the facts that he was put on IR, that feels bad. - Demiko Ryan said, "Tank Del will play in week seven against the Giants." - All of a sudden they have 10,000 wide receivers. - Zach Sharman, a good chance to make his season debut alongside Jonathan Taylor in Seattle, just kidding. But Sharman, a could be back. The Vikings open the 21-day practice window. - Let's go. - Jordan Mason. - Now. - Aaron Johns has been very good for fantasy in the absence of Mason. We'll see what that committee looks like. Michael Flore undecided on whether Jacob's will play in week seven. Now that Jason has traded him away to Al. I put the odds that he's not playing to be very high. How you feeling about that news there, Al? - Great. - Okay. - He will. - Lots of good thoughts. - He will play and start and be fine this week. - All right, LaFlore said he will. We feel he's in a pretty good spot. He's been training. He's missed the exposure of football. Plotball said that he's planning as if Jaylon Daniels will start in week seven.
Baker is supposed to practice. Baker is a very demonstratively stubborn individual. So if Baker feels like he can go, which there were rumors last week that he's like pushing really hard to get back. The plans could change, but right now they want to move forward with all the prep time for Daniels. And then Lamar Jackson could potentially practice in week seven, considered day to day, also on Al's team. So we'll see if he ends up back in the mix. Yeah, all the news. Yep. Okay, we'll take a break. We'll get into the waiver wire. All right, into the waiver, where we go, lots of discussions and questions and comments and thoughts and frites and all of that. Um, week seven by weeks. The waiver wire presented by T-Mobile. And I'm my brain is just going to my element. Oh, we got the League of Records Raids where we're realizing certain players are like, Hey, Demario Douglas, we need to move him up in the, yeah, in the waivers, because of the fine dobs and the, the Washington Whiteouts and then Terence Ferguson inserts the conversation along doing it live. Mum, Mumfield should be in there too. And some if you didn't put him in. This is, I mean, canada mumfield had a big game. It's a fun, a fun time to be alive. Is it, um, bills, chargers, jaguars, lots of big names on by this week. No, Josh Allen, no James Cook, no, baseball, toot and Lawrence and Parker Washington commanders and chargers, a much needed buy after some injuries. And, um, off we go, where are we going to start? Running back, thank goodness, the chargers are on by. They can't hurt you this week. No, no, were you starting any other players though? No, but you, you're sometimes tempted to. It's like, ah, do I have to lads active? Oh, you know, my number one goal with the chargers is firing, firing Mike McDaniel so that we can come on this show and say, maybe things will get better with Hampton. Yeah, maybe things will get better with, with, with Ladd needed to buy more than anybody on this planet. Yeah, well, Mike Evans, but, um, yeah, I would have expected to hear it by now if it was going to happen. Today, yeah, today, let's go. Uh, running backs, rostered in two thirds of leagues, but you got to go peak, but Jordan Mason availability is, uh, you know, he's at the tippy top of the running back list. Everybody else on this list, you have much bigger question marks about their role and involvement in the team. Yeah, it's basically if you don't have an IR spot in your league, there's a good chance Jordan Mason is sitting out there on waivers. Uh, I would imagine the 66% that he's rostered are leagues that have the IR spot and they've been holding on to him, but the, the plan has been to get him back and involve the, the coaches have talked about the need for the running game and the excitement to get Jordan Mason back into this game. Uh, so if, if he's active, um, I think he's immediately a startable asset. He could be active this week. Great matchup against Indianapolis, but matchups coming up period. Yeah. Buffalo Green Bay. What tier do you put him in? Because I think I might be slightly less like, like, I think he's a RB two, three type of player, maybe more on the three side. I think he's a low end RB two. He's going to get, so we're similar. I think he's going to get about 15 carries a game and do well with them. You're hoping for touchdowns because he's not a past catching guy. So I don't think his upside is like, by any means, a top six back, but he is, I mean, for someone on waivers to be able to just go in and get 15 touches. Who's a good player? Not just like, oh, man, he's the third string that's, you know, it's game. You're not picking up Damien. Exactly. How about 20 touches? Kendrick Miller last week, 20 for 70 did not score. That touchdown went to C.J. Donaldson. Oh, no, I had to call that one back. Yeah, no, but he did get the goal line carry and Cameras scored on a screen pass. They ran for a season high 175 yards on the ground under 50% rostered. Kendrick Miller, it's tough because what do you invest on a player who? It's a one week. It's Pittsburgh this week, which is not a great matchup. And then it's a by week. And it's Cleveland, which is a terrible matchup. And then H.H.N. is going to be back. Yeah. So Kendrick Miller fab, not a ton, not a ton. It's a number two on this list. Yeah, probably. I mean, I, I think Rochon Johnson, both of these guys, Kendrick Miller and Rochon Johnson are taking advantage of the injuries ahead of them, right? So when Travis H.H. and Junior comes back, Kendrick Miller, I think is irrelevant. And then when Mononguy comes back, Rochon Johnson's a relative as of right now, both are decent plays. They, they both did good enough last week and got enough work. They've got equal matchups, New England, Pittsburgh. So, you know, you go out there and you spend 10 bucks on fab and try to get them if you need a starter this week. With the departure of Najee Harris. And, you know, the name that pops up on Wabrowire list this week is going to be Tyrone Tracy with the two touchdowns. Now, that was only eight opportunities. What are you doing with Tracy under 10% rostered relative to the other two backs? Singletary, Cam scataboo. I expect a pretty big bounce back from Cam this week. I think he'll be the against Houston. Well, I mean, it related to opportunities. Like, I think the breakdown will be more rushing attempts for Cam versus everybody else. I agree with that. I do. I am a little bit excited at the six targets that Tracy had. They, for some reason, they have not used scataboo in the passing game, even before the fumble benching. They just weren't using him to the degree that they should, because he's a freaking awesome pass catcher. That role is important for fantasy. So, Tyrone Tracy is, he's a fine pickup. His at least does not require another injury. But I agree with you, Andy. I think scataboo will come out. Be the starter. Get the majority of work. Again, it's bad matchup. Then they go on by. So none of these is not a great week for a running back play. Now, Julio McLaughlin shared time with otter guest domain Cleveland, but Juckins or his micro column junkins, now what I call him. He does now. That's what everyone called. That's how you pronounce his name according to Thursday night football. McLaughlin was nine for 41, four for 14 through the air. I think he is a pretty interesting one week start. If Juckins, if they set him out again, the hard part is against Tennessee is Dylan Samson is there as what like Dylan, Dylan Samson is his window was open. It looked like Samson might play this past weekend. He didn't. But if he comes in and he's starting it, there's definitely leagues where Julio McLaughlin should be picked up. It's just it's the path is is dark and full of tears for him. Yeah. And then you've got a bunch of the like insurance backs with upside him at Johnson, Mike Washington. There you go. Nine for 43. Let the team in rushing last year. Was this when we thought you were going to do? Well, he must have been hurt. Gentie barely played in the second half. Well, Gentie's efficiency was awful. And yeah, but the fact that they didn't turn to lobby like they did the week before. The game was more competitive. Jonah Coleman will return at some point. Again, I hate the Broncos decision. I mean, they're offense. I hate it. And then I hate the depth they have at every position. And I hate bonnicks in John Hayden. So I think we move on to White receivers who where looked last weeks, number one picked up on the show was Jeremy Bernard. Hope you picked him up. Not enough people did. Good see seven percent. Yesterday's prices are not today's prices. Rookie Whiteouts with a game of 11 catches and a touchdown in the last 10 years. Jeremy Bernard, trim our chase. Whoa, oh, I hear what you're saying. And Aaron Rodgers is getting it done. I mean, the targets were crazy for his top two guys. Roman Wilson went on IR. So this spot is secured. It is his. He will be getting you know, the nine or 10 targets as a rookie. That's my number one overall pick up. Absolutely. He's my number one again. It's hard to not make the comp. Rodgers, Mike McCarthy, Randall Cobb. Yeah. That's who that's who Jeremy Bernard is being used as right now, which if you are weren't around for the heyday of Randall Cobb, there were some moments that were very nice for fancy football. By the way, I didn't get into any drop candidates, but some of the names coming up, Martian Lloyd with the return of Jacobs. Yeah. Hampton on the by week. Emmanuel Wilson. I wish this button could have. Oh man. I wish this button had the just a land mine. I mean, no, I would listen. Hampton's been farts, but I wouldn't drop him on the waivers because I don't mean, listen to the names we're talking about in the way. It basically, if Jordan Mason's not out there, you've got Kendra going into a buy and a bunch of backups. I mean, you're talking about picking up the Leal McLaughlin. First round upside, Mike, I got to convince you of that. Yeah, I guess I'll hold him in the event of if I drop him for Jeremy Bernardo doing 100%. Yeah. But like, hold on, McDaniel Mike, it fired. Well, I don't know if that way. Adam Gays takes it over. Yeah. Look, please. No, you got to fire both those guys. You got to just just fire Adam Gays. You can cut
those guys. Jeremy Bernard, if he's there, 57% roster pick him up number one list, you got to go hard in the paint. 50 probably. Yeah, I definitely think he looks like a player. Now I will say Michael Pittman will be back. I don't know how you. I don't know how you that's the thing for four plus Pittman. That was an actual audio of Aaron Rodgers. Pittman and Roman. Your second rounder doing this. I don't you don't put your penny back. I mean Pittman was crap before. Yeah, but he was he was playing through injury. I'm just saying if they're paying him a lot of money, what you're trying to say is that look, it's not all going to be like this every week. So careful with your fab spin because it may vacillate. They will get some names back. I think you're going to have a couple more great weeks. You know, they're by. If you have a couple more, you've got a rookie that's locked in. Yeah, I mean, and you you very well might be right. And I I'm going hard after him too. I think he's totally worth it. He looked the part. He looked outstanding. He is exactly where Aaron Rodgers expects him to be, which is 11 feet from him, right, which is turning around the zone extremely important. So yeah, I would go hard after him. I just don't necessarily think that when Pittman is back on the team, he's not going to be on the sideline. And so the 10 targets a week, I think is probably not going to happen when all three are there. Well, the 10 also, they they did go to they went to overtime, right? Yep. Yes. So they got him and DK Metcalf. They got juiced up a little bit. Three of three for 30 was Metcalf's overtime stats. The there's the running backs. It's pretty stinky, but the wide receivers, man, with the roots, there's a lot of them. Well, I mean, the rookie wide receivers this week are very exciting. See, Omar Cooper, Jr. I think is still a difficult and like I want to pick him up. He's barely rostered. I think he deserves it. First round pick. I still am a little bit. I think it's going to be very tough. The matchups are very tough coming up against wide receivers or four wide receivers. You're going to get adenine Mitchell back. You're going to get a healthier canyons to dig. I do I think target distribution is going to be something where like Cooper is not a player. I think I can pop in and guarantee production. I think I'm hopeful, but I'm afraid that I may he may be a pick up that he's been fab on. And then you're like crappy. He just went three for 30. And I'm like, so let's bump them all together. You got because the rookies right now, Jeremy Bernard. He's the number one priority by by a mile. But then Omar Cooper with his breakout game, Antonio Williams now with Terry McLoran. Yep. There's probably we have again, we haven't heard the McLoran injury news yet. It's that certainly look like a guy who is probably not going to play football. Jordan Tyson. There's there was the news that he is traveling with the team to Paris. So his return could be sooner rather than a player's been a been yes, been yes. Yes. Yes. And escargo. Yes. And beg gets. Oh, don't get me started. And then Jacobi Lane is the other one who I he might be like the fact that he put up the those numbers with the backup quarterback. It's pretty exciting. I am really excited for Jacobi Lane. Jacobi Lane is the the rookie wider chamber for the Baltimore Ravens. He had an unbelievable camp. He was steamed up as like the the best player, you know, this, this rookie standout. Because remember, they took Elijah Sera as well. They, they drafted two front of Lane, right? I think Lane was first, but you could double check that. Lane was first. I'm pretty hot. All right. But they took two and one clearly broke out is is Yeah. Lane was third. Highlight after highlight. And then unfortunately he got and week one. It was like he was on the field. It was targeted in the end zone. It looked like for week one a rookie to be out there like this. And then he gets injured. Unfortunately comes back. And yeah, looks good with the backup quarterback. So when Lamar comes back, Bateman got hurt. Yeah. I had to the Montess Walker did run ahead of him. Round wise. But, but Bateman's injury. Yeah. I agree. I think I would rather have him than Antonio Williams. Really? Yeah. Because Antonio Williams is going into the buy week right now. And I'm not sure. I still would, I take a longer term approach. Yeah. I would too. Antonio is my number two wide receiver now. Yeah. Antonio would be two for me. And then I would move on to like the Lane Cooper discussions, a really interesting one where like, yeah, I mean, both of them are always going to be second fiddle to flowers and wells and passing volume wise. You know, you have those games where, you know, they don't need much more than Henry and he will be a high variance. I feel like it's going to be some red zone action. I lean Cooper over over Jacobi, over Lane. Yeah. I think Lane will be the wide receiver, too, for the Raven's rest of season. And so, you know, is that valuable? I think it will be. I mean, in the past, in the past, it has not been. I mean, you have had plenty of years where you had two pass catchers that were valuable. Yes, it was. That was Mark Andrews and Z flowers. Obviously, Mark Andrews is toast at this point. Yeah. Fair. You know, and you've had games where, you know, Bateman looked looked good this year. So with Bateman gone, Mark Andrews being toast, I think Jacobi Lane will be the wide receiver, too, for the Raven's. So that's where it's like. And we're not even, yeah, these are just the rookie discussions. Right. Yeah. Because I think the discussion around DeMario Douglas. Yeah. Like DeMario Douglas has had two monster weeks and now dobs is gone. And yeah, AJ Brown will be involved. But I don't know. It's been pretty interesting, running a lot of routes, a lot of snaps. I think DeMario Douglas is a really nice spot start for buy weeks for the next few weeks. But I think there's a lot of spot starts. I mean, trade Tucker, Kenan Allen, Ryan Flanoi, who's born. Yeah. And he will continue to. I mean, it's a, I think those are the big names. And the cannot a mom field will throw them out there just because he had a nice week when when Puku was gone. Did we even mention Kenan? Yeah. Yeah. Cause I mean, he's just getting like double digit, you know, targets every single week. Yeah. This was a little bit of, you know, you had the week with no Tyler Warren that helped the equation. But yeah, I think Kenan's, I mean, if you're looking for targets, which is pretty much how you look at buy week fillings, unless you sign Najee and get nothing at all. That's, that's what you're, that's what you're looking for. There's a lot of good names. Now, because of that, are you not spending up on fab for many of these? Are you just putting like six or seven of them in your queue for a buck or nothing? I am spending up on Jeremy, obviously, he's, he's proven it. I will go a little bit harder after after Jacob, Jacobi Lane, Jordan Tyson and Antonio Williams. And then I'll put a couple bucks on Omar Cooper. And it really depends on what you're looking for though. Cause if you need a spot start, you know, if you've got to actually like throw someone in a lineup, you might rather get a Demario Douglas. Well, let's talk about tight ends and, and I want to transition into, you know, somebody like Hunter Henry, because Hunter Henry should also be moved up. He's had a couple of good weeks in a row with dobs leaving. This is a very good week. FootClan.com. That's where our premium services are. We have free waiver wire rankings available. Should you want to go that route? But if you want to make it as easy as possible, because there's so many names that we're trying to get through with, with that amount of wide receivers, we have, we take care of all that in the ultimate dashboard. If you want to support the show, you get a bunch of other cool stuff with it. But I would highly recommend going to check it out this week in particular. It will be very, very helpful for you. Yeah, you can look and see like, oh, in my leagues, this guy's available in these leagues. So let's talk through tight ends. If for some reason Kyle Pitz is there, which only 63% rostered. So we're going to talk about, you know, what Jordan Mason was 66%. Kyle Pitz has had two monster weeks. They paid him a ton of money. It took a little while. I'm sure he'll let you down. Of course, he'll let you down. But he's well in 20 the last two weeks. He's looked good. He's that he's, he's, he's even had some plays that are like, okay, okay, who's this? This guy looks like the Kyle Pitz everyone was excited about. And then, uh, Chiga Conquo, only 14% rostered. I think he will be a season long beneficiary of the injuries. I completely agree, Chig. This is part of the reason like Antonio Williams, I'm not sold that he, he had the opportunity. He had opportunity when Diggs was out to step up and be the two. And he really didn't impress during that stretch. And then Chig did. It's tough, though, Jay. Cause like, Antonio Williams had the good, I think rookie or first week. But then you lost Jaden during some of the opportunity for Antonio Williams, right? Yes. So I, I don't know if we've seen his best as my point. Like, let's scheme up a week where he's your one of your primary guys. Yeah. I mean, I, I have liked what I've seen on a few plays of his. I just don't know that he's going to establish himself. If you had to start one tight in this week, that's not named Kyle Pitz on the waiver wire. You got, um, Hawkinson coming back. You got Henry against Chicago. You've got it would be Higby. Higby against Las Vegas. It would be Higby. I'm, I'm interested in picking up Terrence Ferguson quite a bit. He's still got one week left on the IR. I just think explosive lies with Devonte Adams out. We saw it for a minute before he got injured and he was dominating. However, he's not there. Tyler Higby has been important, especially when, um, you know, you only have one of these primary wide receiver options. The matchup against the Raiders this week is pretty good. I know Higby disappointed last week for for 22. Uh, but that was also while they, you know, had the other day.
other wide receivers there. And that was a crazy slog game against Arizona that was low scoring. No one expected. He would be my start, but I, I'm also still interested if I'm looking for something more long term for Terrence Ferguson. Okay. And then Michael Mayer is not that bad. No. He's kind of like he keeps getting it done. They're primary receivers are the two tight ends. It's wild. And they paid him as well. Defenses this week. The Vikings, if they're out there for goodness sakes because of the buy, grab them, they probably aren't. But the Browns play Tennessee this week. The Brown defense has been really good. And my goodness, that's an awesome start. As are the Jets who've get to face Miami. So Tennessee Miami, two of the teams are targeting a lot. Carolina, if it's Jalen Daniels, I'm a little bit more nervous if it's not. But those are some defenses that you can pick up. Yeah, would you play the Tennessee Titans against the Browns? Because I know the Titans don't have a good defense. You don't mind them. No, I wouldn't mind it. But the Browns are they are just like Dishon Watson has been playing. Okay. He's been playing better. But no one takes more sacks than Dishon Watson. Or looks and throw any throws. Yes. I mean, 50% of the time, I think that I think the Browns can go win. The Browns could go win in 13. 10 was this past week. Yeah. But they could go out and score 30 points on the Titans. And still the Titans defense could end up with a really good fan. I see what your score because of how Dishon Watson plays. And I promised the Titans are available. Yeah. That's I mean, that would be that would take the roster presented whole nice zero percent. I'm guessing. Well, people in Tennessee, maybe I would love to know the real truth. I'll get a number. That was the way we are presented by team mobile. When you're updating your roster right before kick off, you've got coverage you can count on just another reason. Game days are better with team mobile. Check it out at team mobile.com/membership 2%. Okay. 2%. We'll take a break. We'll be right back. Any other big trades happening in our league, anything happened in the last few minutes? I'm out of draft capital. Papa Josh hasn't clicked except on any of my offers. That's a shame. I'd love to see another one pop through here. All right. We will jump into the mail back for some questions from the foot. Mailbag. You psyched me out, man. Yeah. And he's going rogue over here. What are you doing? I was like, I'm like, I'm looking at my quarterback for the for the streamers. And I'm like, okay, I gotta get ready. Oh, that's the mail. We built out this new waiver wire system for the show. When I popped back in, I just was passed. I was passed the streaming quarterback. You got the worst mailbag ever. The first mailbag question. Do you guys have one of your streamers? You guys this week. That's what I was saying. I stole your joke. Sorry. Bullstream ahead. I apologize. That's okay. It was a funny joke. You you'd love to talk on the show. I know. That's a bit of some people say what the narrative is streaming quarterback options this week. Josh Allen's on by Trevor Lawrence's on by Jason. I know you're starting Herbert everywhere. He's on by Kyler Murray is my streaming quarterback picked this week against Indianapolis. I like the by week for Kyler. I think every week that he's been more and more acclimated had opportunities to play in the system. He's looked a little bit better. I think he's look good. I think he's looked a little bit better. Indianapolis looks very, very opposite of good. Kyler's available in more than 50% of leagues. There's an opportunity here this week. Yeah, I think there is. I think Kyler's actually a really good play. You want to target Indianapolis. You don't have to worry about weather in this game. So that's that's great. I'm going to go with CJ. Here's is the one. CJ. Yeah. I like this. Not just a good stream. Thank you. He's been awesome. I mean in in the four games with Niko Collins active. He's averaging 71% completion percentage, basically 300 passing yards of game and over 20 fantasy points of game. That's like what you when you're looking for a really good fantasy quarterback, you're wanting him to score more than 20 fantasy points of game. He's averaging that with Niko. Now you add future first ballot. Hall of Fame wide receiver to the team in tanked L and then they also trade for Marvin Harris in junior. But you said this at the news, Mike. It's like all of a sudden this team who seemed like they had no one to throw the ball to is like, well now you've got you know, Hutchison's like, okay, well, he's fine in this role. And you've got Marv run in a few routes. You get tanked L back. The doctor's doing what he needs to do. Which is underneath. You got booty. You've got. I mean, this is a crazy amount of capable receivers there. And so against New York Giants, they're 10 point home favorites. It's a great match. CJ Stroud should be sure. He's the start of the week. Yes. For like independent of the streaming category. Yeah. He's going to have a great week. And this one, I guess the news. I hadn't seen that the Jadeline news. But I like Baker Mayfield immediately off of your waiver wire against the Carolina Panthers. Should he be the one who actually started? Whoa, the lasers got me. Whoa. That scared me. Carolina's 24th and scheduled just at points for the position. Baker. And Baker was dropped in a lot of places. 27% rostered. So he's over. What's behind you? Mailbag. Nothing. That one is better. That one is better. You guys want to do some mailbag for the foot claim. It's ironic that the second I said it's for the foot claim. You're like, let's not do that segment. It's really weird. You guys have kind of turned on them. Website question from Nick. What's up, ballers brand new member of the foot claim. Just wondering if I should trade Devante Smith or T Higgins straight up. Oh, interesting. I will. I'm going to go to the to the Devante Smith Truth and for this one. Yeah. I would. I love seeing 14 targets in the first game without Jalen Hertz. Devante Smith, I think is a better wide receiver than T Higgins. But I'm going to take. I'm going to take not Tanner McKee, not Tanner McKee. I mean, 45 pass attempts for Tanner McKee last week. Unremarkable was the comment. It's gone. It's certainly not impossible. The Devante Smith is fine with Tanner McKee. Shoot, maybe even better Joe Milton. Yeah. But yeah, Zuka Joe's waiting. But yeah, I'm going to, I'm going to take the Cincinnati Bengals Joe Barrow. T Higgins is fine. I would do that. Okay. Joel and Colorado. Should I pick up trade Tucker and drop Devante Smith? Oh, no. I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't do that. Robin London, Bajor from London. She did some football this week. Would you trade George Pickens straight up for Matthew Golden? Oh my gosh. Yeah, I would. I do. I have. I think I would. I have watched every route of Matthew Golden this year. Matthew Golden looks fantastic. He and he looks like somebody that Jordan loved trust tremendously is looking for when plays breakdown down the field. He was our trade for candidate weeks ago, kind of highlighting. Hey, he's doing everything Christian wants is doing, except for he's not scoring. Now he's had a touchdown three of the last four weeks. Yeah. And I mean, look at, look at three of the last four weeks. Why does he were four 10 and three? He's the wide receiver seven on the season right now. So yeah, I think I would, man, that is so tough to take someone as proven as George Pickens, who's struggling. Yeah, I look. Yeah, I think you, I think you should do it. It's a tough one. And it is one of those trades where you're like, how is this happening? But do you accept it? I mean, do you accept that this is what's happening at this point? I think I do. I think you can have two things be true here. You can do this trade. George Pickens can get better and you can still have the better player. Like Pickens getting better might not equal what Golden will be. That's the part would make the trade that'll make the trade. Okay. Is there a world because we saw this a couple years ago. Jordan love balling out is the tie quarterback quarterback Jacob's question. Yeah. Quarterback five and fantasy football. They get Jacobs on this team and really are able to run the ball more around the goal line. They, they are they? No, no, no, I'm saying in the past. Okay. Take what happened. Yeah. Was a shift in mentality personality. Then in a week or two, you're going to add Michael Parsons or yeah, at some point, defense run the ball, that type of thing. And so this, you know, I, I talked a lot the last month about getting Jordan love picking them up, making them my start of the week. The last couple weeks and this coming week and just like staying in the flames of this matchups. But I do believe, you know, going forward, you could have a shift from who the packers are as this high flying deep passing office. Did they trade for five new offensive lineman? No, but they did sign several extra offensive lineman, you know, a couple of weeks ago. I think that's been the biggest problem. Yeah. I think that problem will remain. And so I think Jacobs will help because Jacobs will do infinitely more than Marshall Lloyd. But I think he could get like, I think we knew balance was coming in part this year. And you know, Tucker craft getting healthier, golden looking good, Watson being a dominant gold is a huge part of it because last year, I mean, it's a good question to ask because that has been their philosophy before. Like even if they wanted to be high flyers last year, Matthew golden was terrible. Like he, he was not a functional part. He got no targets. Yeah. But we say that's earned. Yes. So if they gave it to dogs, perhaps, perhaps if they had decided to target Matthew golden, this would have happened last year. But it, it didn't, and you had injuries this year too. So Jaden Reed went out. It's, I think it's a little bit different with the way that Watson and golden are playing to, to look at that and be like, we need to shift back to those two guys what we were doing.
- They complement each other so well because they are such fast athletic wide receivers on the outside that like, you can't really scheme both of them. - Yeah, they honestly, they're very similar. - Yeah, that's it. - No, no, no, you're saying to each other. - No, to each other. - Yeah, I just think that Golden and Watson are very similar. Watson gets the red zone deep play advantage 'cause he is a better, he's bigger. And like, so he can go high point of ball. But Golden's been able to do that. They target Golden on like, goal line plays. They're just very, like, I agree with you. I think that they are very complimentary because you have a hard time defending two speedsters like them. So, I think it is, I would do it. I would trade, like right now, if you played Ryan Flanoi over Pickens for this year, you're probably about even. Caleb Williams on Thursday night football are waiting for stride against the Giants. I'd play stride. - Ooh. - I mean, last week you were better off playing in Rodgers than Caleb Williams, production wise. Which seems crazy, but I looked into it and I started Caleb and it was a fact. - Yeah, I'd certainly, I don't view Caleb Williams as someone that I'm needing to bench or wanting to, Kyle, do we have the over-under for those games? - It's the New England part that, that is. - Yeah, that's where, like, the over-under I think is 50.5. - For Thursday? - Yeah. - That's what I'm saying. - It's a high over-under. - The environment of the Bears versus the Patriots seems more likely to get to spiral out of control on the second half of people are having to put up points where the Texans are gonna man-handle the Giants. It's either Jamis and you're getting a bajillion picks or it's McCarthy and you're getting a bajillion picks. So I think it's, I love stride this week. - Oh man. - That's a tough one. - That's a really, really tough question. I think I'm, maybe you just take the for sure, like stride for a half is probably enough fantasy points. - I'm taking, I'm taking stride because I think the, I'm gonna stay in the flame set. - I'm gonna go with stride there. It's, it's tough though. - Jerry, in California, who do I drop and keep rest of season, Fanon or John Johnson? Which would you drop, which would you keep rest of season? - Wow. - Good question. - Fanon, I keep fanon. - Fanon's been terrible the last couple weeks. John's coming off of a. - A goose. (crow cawing) - John was bad and then. - Tyson's coming back. - You do have Jordan Tyson coming back. They are, they're in Paris this week. Then a bi-week for John Johnson. And then I would expect to have Jordan Tyson back. So yeah, I would keep fanon. - I'm not like convicted to the degree that like, if you like one guy more, just don't feel stressed over which one you keep. - Oh man. Adam and Cincinnati, last question. Hey, ballers, listen to your round. Thank you. Is it okay to drop Slyvers Allen in a dynasty league? - No. Well. - He had two catches last week. - Who's there? - Dropping for who? - Look on Treadwell. - That's always the question. Is drop for who? If you're somehow there is in someone's for sure locked in RB2, like somehow Seth McGowan is out there. - Yeah. - I'd probably go that way. - Got me out. - Yeah. - No, I will not make any animal indictments on Mr. McGowan yet. Like, that's a move I could see happening, but. - What about Traylon Burke's? - I'd rather. - Is he okay? - If I was playing to win, he got absolutely undertaker chokes slammed into the ground. - Yeah, I think that was more of a win. - Ain't not injured. - Ouch. - It was pain, it looked painfully. - Yeah, he was standing up on the sideline now. - Okay, it was, yeah, Burke's is gonna score more points this year. - Yeah, it would depend on, like I would try not to cut I'm just to see if something develops over the year. - Yeah. - But I mean, there are some shoes to drop in the wide receiver depth chart. So you could sign or play some of these guys and then the next week Tyree Kill is on the chiefs or Tyree Kill is on one of these contenders. - I don't know if Tyree Kill is gonna be on a team. - Yeah, he might not. - Well, I'd join Jennings trade. - Okay, yeah. - Brian Thomas Jr. trade, other opportunity. I mean, some moves are gonna get made. They've been made the last few years. I think something's gonna happen. But yeah, I don't hold out, like my percentage chance that Cyrus works out for the chiefs is like, - Very low. - It's like four percent. - Yeah, very, very low. - All right, that is gonna do it for the day show. We did all the segments, right? All the ones I was supposed to do. - In whatever order we wanted. - Whatever order we wanted. Male bag, Thursday night preview tomorrow. We'll catch you then. - Goodbye. - Thank you for listening to another episode of the Fantasy Footballers podcast. FAQs
Terry McCauley suffered a season-ending injury early in the first quarter, sustaining a non-contact knee injury. This creates a significant void in fantasy lineups, especially for teams relying on older wide receivers, and raises concerns about workload management for aging players.
Older wide receivers like Terry McCauley, Mike Evans, and DeVonte Adams are at higher risk of injury due to age and wear. The recent injuries to these players highlight the importance of managing workloads and considering long-term health when drafting, especially in the final stretch of the season.
Mike Evans is expected to miss time with a torn Achilles, and his return is likely to be delayed until after the fantasy buy week. Experts suggest he may not return until the playoffs, depending on recovery progress and team decisions.
Recommended waiver wire adds include Jeremy Bernard, Antonio Williams, Chigga Conco, and Jordan Mason. Jeremy Bernard is highlighted as a top pick due to a breakout performance, while Mason is considered a safe, startable option with a strong matchup against Indianapolis.
Chigga Conco has shown elite performance with 69 yards and seven receptions in one game. He is seen as a long-term beneficiary of injuries and a valuable asset due to his athleticism and ability to produce in high-pressure situations.
While players like Devonte Adams and Jonathan Taylor are valuable, their injury risks and recovery timelines create uncertainty. Adams is expected to miss at least six to ten weeks, and Taylor’s return is uncertain, making such trades risky without clear return timelines.
