Meanwhile, the 49ers’ offense is analyzed through Mike Evans’ explosive playmaking, with potential impacts if he’s injured. The Steelers vs. Saints game is complicated by a major protest in Paris, affecting logistics and fan experience, while the Giants’ shift to J.J. McCarthy as starter raises questions about coaching strategy and narrative control. The Texans’ defense emerges as a strong contender due to their ability to pressure quarterbacks, particularly against high-risk offenses. Throughout, the discussion emphasizes not just the game stats, but the broader context—how trades, injuries, social issues, and team dynamics shape the season. The episode celebrates the unseen labor of tradespeople and the human stories behind football, with Carhartt highlighted as a supporter of those behind the scenes. It also touches on the evolving role of media, fan engagement, and how external factors like protests or travel can alter game dynamics. The narrative blends fantasy football insights with real-world context, making it both informative and thought-provoking.

We spend a lot of time talking about what happens on the field,
but what about everything that has to happen before anyone can play on it?
The grass has to be grown.
The stadium has to be built.
The goalposts have to be welded.
That's the work of tradespeople committed to getting every detail right.
And Carhartt is proud to outfit those people,
the crews making football possible.
So this season, when you're watching the game,
take a second to think about the people behind it.

Welcome to the Ringer Fantasy Football Show.
My name is Danny Heifetz,
and I'm joined by Danny Kelly and Craig Korolbeck,
and we are going over all the games from,
week seven of the NFL season.
Starting with,
there are actually some awesome games this week.
Starting with Sunday Night Football,
game of the year?
Yeah.
Kansas City Chiefs at Seattle Seahawks.
DK, the return of Ken Walker,
Super Bowl MVP to Seattle on Sunday Night Football.
Yeah, this is an awesome matchup.
My stat for this game,
let's just get right into it.
Kenneth Walker is averaging 133 rushing yards per game.
The Seahawks have not given up 100 yards
to an individual rusher in 35 straight games.
Going back to 2014,
their run defense is among the best in the NFL,
if not the best in the NFL, the Seahawks is.
They're giving up 3.4 yards per rush this year.
Their defensive EPA per rush is second best
behind only the Vikings.
They've given up just nine explosive runs so far in six games.
So it is going to be such a fascinating match
of how both teams attack this.
The Seahawks have been really, really good
at stopping the run and making opposing teams one-dimensional.
Is that really what you want to do?
Put the game on Patrick Mahoney.
Shoulders or I just think it's going to be a fascinating matchup.
The Chiefs, by the way, I saw this from Aaron Schatz.
This is the best Chiefs start since his first season as a starter,
since Patrick Mahoney's first season as a starter per DVOA.
So this is a very good Chiefs team.
Do you think there's obviously Kenneth Walker
probably is going to feel a certain type of way
about wanting to stick it to the Seahawks in this game.
Do you think there's any version of that in reverse for Seattle
or is the motivation all on the side of Kansas City?
I would say probably more the latter.
I don't feel like the Seahawks have ill will towards Kenneth Walker.
I think they probably understand why he wanted to go
and be a bell cow back for a team that really wanted
to utilize his skill set the way that they're utilizing it.
I don't know.
It's you never know like how the personal relationships were,
but it feels like I think Kenneth Walker was all good
with everybody on the team.
I would disagree.
I mean, I think you're right that like,
is there personal animosity between them
when you ask them in like June?
No, but like this week,
if you think about it,
you think the Seahawks defense is not like we're going
to fucking shut down Ken Walker.
Well, I think that's like a pride thing more than like,
fuck Kenneth Walker.
Like we, I think it's more like we can stop Kenneth Walker.
That I guess that's a little like slight difference there,
but I think it's more of a pride thing.
I and like you think this is like when like two divorced parents
can get along and kind of co-raise their like Seattle
and Ken Walker are both good with each other.
And it was just business, right?
Just some people just don't, you know,
just aren't meant to be married.
Okay.
The Super Bowl MVP,
having to leave because he couldn't get paid enough.
You don't think he's upset.
I think he's upset.
Okay.
You do.
So you do think he's pissed?
Yes.
I think Kenneth Walker absolutely wants to stick it to the Seahawks.
I was reading this great article from Mike,
Michael Sean guard to guard from the athletic today.
And I don't know if I actually had seen this written down
before and it might be out there already,
but the Seahawks didn't officially make him an offer.
He just kind of left.
I don't think I realized that they'd made him no formal offer.
I think that the same thing happened with the Giants and Saquon.
And it's because once you've decided that you're not going to pay a
running back,
and this is for any position,
but like the running back position is the one where they're like,
they've just decided we're not going to pay anything near market rate.
He's priced out of the.
Yeah.
It's like 14,
50 million a year.
And they're like,
well,
if we offer you 11,
that's both insulting to you,
but we're actually not going to do that either.
Like they wouldn't even make an insult.
They wouldn't even accept an insulting rate.
They're just using that money elsewhere in the roster.
So the number that they would take him at is so insulting that they'd
rather not offer at all.
But then the player is like,
holy shit,
they didn't even make me an offer.
So yeah,
Ken Walker's pissed,
but this is interesting because the Seahawks,
one of the reasons the Seahawks defense is so good is because of how they
stopped the run.
Like the simplest answer for what,
why is the Seattle defense so good?
It is in an insanely complicated answer,
but the shortest version is they can stop the run with six guys in front
instead of seven in the box,
which is how Mike McDonald talked about it this week.
And they're able to stop the run with in dime or nickel pack.
Packages,
which is they can have six defensive backs on the field instead of four
and stop the run with better than some teams who have four defensive
backs on the field.
And like the chiefs are the best rushing team in the NFL,
probably this season.
And like,
this is a really interesting thing to see.
It's going to win.
It's like the,
it's the,
the it's kind of like last year when the Seahawks played the Rams,
it was like strength on strength.
This is like going to reverberate around the league.
Like this is like the best strength on the best strength in the whole
league.
Really.
It'll be very cool to watch.
Yeah.
And those games,
I mean,
a couple of the games,
so the Rams were pretty high scoring.
The Rams kind of figured it out and were able to put up big numbers on
the Seahawks last year at certain times.
And I think to your point,
I have,
it's like stopping the run with six and,
you know,
not having to crowd the box too much and still be able to stay in nickel
and all that stuff.
It starts up front with the Seahawks.
They have some ass kickers on the defensive line.
Byron Murphy has kind of come into his own.
He's turning into a star.
I don't know if he's a household name at this point,
but he is one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL.
He's just so good at,
you know,
stonewalling blocks,
taking on double teams,
not letting the line of scrimmage move,
and then allowing guys behind him to kind of like fill and make their
tackles.
The Seahawks have some really good tackling cornerbacks and defensive
backs.
So that's the chief strength too.
It's the tackling of the defensive backs against Ken Walker.
Who's like up there with Jameer Gibbs and Bijan is the best tackle
breaker making guys miss in the entire league.
And the interior offensive line for the chiefs is the strength,
right?
Like they're surviving with a,
an undrafted for agent or a seventh rounder rookie at left tackle.
They had of Indiana.
You know what I mean?
Like Josh Simmons got put an injured reserve.
He's probably not going to play this season.
Like the interior of the chiefs line is the strength.
So I,
yeah,
it'll be very cool.
It'll be very cool.
Chris Collinsworth,
Craig,
what's the over under on Chris Collinsworth orgasms live on air.
Oh my God.
The Ken Walker,
Patrick,
he's going to be like,
it's like chocolate and peanut butter.
Mike,
this is just the greatest combination I've seen since sliced bread.
DK,
the Seahawks,
if they lose this game,
we'll lose three games in a row.
And looking at their schedule,
it's,
you know,
it's a little,
when you look back at the last six games,
it's like,
so they beat new England by three with drew lock.
They beat Arizona.
Then they lost to Washington with Mariotta.
Then they beat Herbert by seven.
And then they've now lost to the niners in the Broncos.
Yeah.
And the chiefs are five and out and look back to like the old chiefs.
Are you surprised the Seahawks are favored in this game to win?
I guess this is all home field advantage.
Yeah.
I think it's like a home thing.
Yeah.
It's a home thing.
It's a respect for the Seahawks defense thing.
Certainly.
And you know,
the Seahawks,
the Achilles heel this year has been the turnovers.
They've,
they should have won probably all the games they lost this year.
If they just hadn't turned the ball over at,
at really poor times.
So I think it is,
I think it's,
you know,
the Seahawks are still a very good team.
They still have a very good defense particularly.
And I think the offense can get there,
but it's just not executing right now.
But yeah,
I mean,
it's,
it's essentially respect for the CX defense and the home thing.
I think the home field advantage certainly helps.
And the other one,
so Zach Charbonneau is activated.
He might play this week.
He might not,
but at the very least he's off the physically unable to perform list.
He might be active this game.
I don't know if he's going to play so much,
but you know,
obviously the Seahawks are desperate at running back.
They let Ken Walker go.
Charbonneau has been hurt all year.
Jadarian price,
the first run picks on injured reserve.
You know,
you've got,
you know,
George Alani and Emmanuel Wilson,
like the Seahawks running games in a bad place.
So we'll see if Charbonneau is even active,
but he is back.
Yeah.
One,
one quick note.
I noticed this week too,
that I did not know before.
Kenneth Walker has a brother, a younger brother who is in high school, I believe, and his
is also kenneth walker oh george foreman yeah exactly it's kenneth walker the third and keth
walker the fourth wow which is great how do they do you think one goes by kenny one goes by kenneth
what do you think a good question i don't know i can look into that you say that i i actually
am surprised that doesn't happen more usually it's a generational thing i know but now that
i think about it i feel like a lot of times there's like the first to me night is when it's
dark well obviously i know that that's how it happens but i'm saying sometimes the other kid
is like oh my older brother is like ken walker jr and i'm just like bill walker and then it's
kind of you're making all the siblings feel equal you know it's like the younger the younger kids
are already getting shafted right these kids are already getting all the secondhand clothes and
the parents don't care as much like it's kind of maybe it's nice to be ken walker the fourth
can i ask a stupid question is is jr the same thing as the second i don't think it is it is
usually it's like so
but you can choose which one to call them you can say because if you have two sons and you
name them both ken walker they're not both junior only one is junior the first one
yeah interesting that feels wrong i think ken walker the second is junior ken walker the third
could he be a junior i'm asking if that's if that if that's possible because i know you typically
it's like you have a son you name them after yourself they can they're a junior and then you
know if you go to the next generation it makes it but if you have two sons with the same name
is ken walker the second also ken walker jr but ken walker the third is not ken walker jr yes
yes i think that's right yeah that's kind of i want to say i think kenneth walker his dad's name
is ken walker jr but there's no differentiation if you're a junior i should ask my dad my dad's
a junior i'm no i think that is a differentiation i think if you're junior you're not you just said
the second i think that'd be weird but is it the same thing it's the same thing it's just it's just
what do you mean it's the same it's just it's semantics most people go by junior but you are
the same but well i don't i don't know if it's semantic you're not gonna you're not gonna have
a junior followed up by kenneth walker the second no i know it's literally the same but i feel like
if i i know a lot of people named junior and i feel like if i called them the second
they would look at me like i had three heads yeah but it but it is literally true right right
that's no it's you can be called the second but i feel like generally it's like until you have
the third you're not the second oh interesting i'm not saying you can't be a lot of people do that
but in my lived experience if i i have a lot of friends who are like the junior and i just feel
like if i said to them it's a one-off and you wouldn't name somebody the second unless there
were plans for a third yeah you're kind of doing that for this you're really you're making a brand
browns that i do but i'm like i don't know i just email us if you were named the second or anything
out of order i kind of want emails for your fancy football gmail bangles are at the ravens yeah uh
my one stop for this game is that lamar jackson is seven and two against joe burrow
and i wouldn't have guessed that i wouldn't have either and this game matters a lot for
both teams the more i looked at this uh lamar looks like he's coming back he's gonna play in
this game uh ravens are coming off a bad loss to cleveland but dude the bangles are three and two
if the bangles lose this game to baltimore baltimore is going to have five wins cleveland's
playing tennessee if they win they're gonna have five wins and the steelers are playing new orleans
and if they win they're gonna have five wins so if the bangles lose this game every other team in
the division is gonna have five wins and the bangles are gonna have three they're gonna be
dead last in the division they're gonna have to once again claw themselves to fight for even a
wild card and also with baltimore it's like baltimore has the fourth best odds to win the
super bowl and it's like they're finally kind of have ever still and it's like they finally have
lamar henry zay and if you want to throw in the promising rookie jacoby lane back in this game
um and so to me this is just like the highest stakes game that i've ever played in my life and
like the highest stakes game of the season for both teams and then you go one step further
and think about what happens if the bangles don't make the playoffs and joe burrow decides to force
joe burrows in pittsburgh steal it right right if in ipso facto he's in pittsburgh right yeah
joe burrows in l.a ram and right stafford god can we not oh that would be sweet i'm down with that
that'd be cool the burrow burrow in l.a i mean that just makes sense i thought he's already on
the crystals i send him to the chargers yeah the well it actually might gonna need a lot more
crystals for the chargers uh i this game is interesting for a lot of reasons i will say
lamar some of lamar's best highlights ever over cincinnati but i will say the um this is also trey
hendrickson on the ravens versus cincinnati which is interesting but i i also think dexter lawrence
who's playing amazing for cincinnati against the ravens interior offensive line where they just
created traded they have cam jurgens et cetera but like the ravens offensive line the interior vega
you wanna like that's a huge matchup it will probably go a long way to determining this game
is the imp like dexter lawrence can he like this is where he gets paid yeah i should also point out
that a guy that we haven't really discussed much this year who was like an early second round pick
in drafts is chase brown who's just straight up bad and he's been one of the worst picks in the
second round he's getting the ball a lot and he's just not doing anything with it his yards per carry
his yards per touch uh all that stuff is just down his success rates low as he fumbled he got kind of
benched in the last game and p ryan came in and basically took all of his carries so uh something
to keep an eye on like i think you're still starting chase brown and i i if i had to bet i
would still probably say that he's going to come back and be totally fine the rest of the season
but it's now been a while like it's been five weeks of him not doing a whole lot and it's
happened a lot i feel like he started slow a lot of years and he's always a buy low he's probably
by low again i will say also do we know if lamar jackson's playing like for sure like we still we
don't know for sure today i think he's gonna play yeah i have a theory on this because it feels like
lamar is always like an injury mystery right like we never know what the hell is going on with lamar's
injuries and i realized this week that it's because he doesn't have an agent right yeah there's nobody
agents aren't talking to the media nobody's leaking it to the any of the insiders what's
wrong with him so no one he just gets a return timeline and he's telling his mom instead of his
agent and his mom's not telling any of us so that's why we never know what the hell is going on
with him that's a great point never thought about that the other yeah everyone's like i guess we'll
just wait and see if he shows up to practice let's see how he looks it's so funny in the 70s we're
just like we'll see if he's at the game on wednesday cameras caught him walking up a little
walkway towards the locker room and he was really kind of struggling to get up that walkway he was
limping really pronounced and then today on thursday he's just out there practicing it
looks fine so i don't know what the yeah you just never know what lamar football's hard man
uh it is the other thing with this game is i think jim nance and tony romo or sorry not jim nance and
romo so that's over jim nance and uh jj watt are announcing this game did you mean to do that or
no i actually just out of habit wrote down jim nance and tony romo yeah yeah i think i did
uh but they extended jj watt's contract so he's going to officially he was kind of the
interim announcer now he's officially replaced tony romo including doing the super bowl with
jim nance next like 2028 season or no sorry the 2028 super bowl with jim dance
yeah and there's i'm sure they were already negotiating this but i do think it's kind of funny
that jj watt just like basically was like hey jim nance punched me really hard and jim nance got
hurt and they're like pay that man i know hey we can't wait another week there's a lot of announcer
drama going on right now the whole acheman buck thing is super weird it is really weird can you
give me a real quick summation of that situation because i haven't read up on it really roy acheman
might do the super bowl with joe buck and then never free agent they might never work together
again well that's a short answer well espn extended joe buck and hasn't extended acheman and i think
acheman was like what the i thought we were a package deal we should be doing this together
and buck just kind of quietly signed and now acheman's really upset i think
did they almost fight apparently they got a huge screaming match
wow so and then they did and this was before they did last monday night where it seemed
fine on the broadcast because that's what you got to do i guess it's like how the three of us you
know we're always screaming at each other right before we record well no we just screaming
we're fine airing our dirty laundry they had a very very contentious back and forth i guess
and so i don't know i don't even i mean hell i don't know i wonder if they've been they're
gonna do the super bowl this year it's the espn that's the thing it's so weird the weird thing
was acheman worked for the dolphins and i think they were trying to like be like well he works
for the dolphins what are we gonna do and i'm like i think he wants to keep doing the announcing
thing i don't know but uh acheman has the look about him i just wouldn't want to start a fight
with that guy no i he's like he's just like he's got like the bloodshot eyes and he's just big
hands old-school movie star look to him you know what i mean i'm like i'm not i'm not talking to
this guy in any way we're wondering who would win in a fight sean mcveigh or treyman and i'm like
dude i don't try acheman like six three and yeah thick he's huge and they're like when he's
young and ripped i'm like dude that's true first of all he was on the 90s almost 60. he's stabbing
people oh true he's six four trey acheman 59 years old so he's 20 years older than mcveigh but
he's probably fought michael irvin like that guy's gonna beat sean think about the hits he must have
taken in the 90s yes he's tough as nails can't feel pain probably no i yeah right oh okay don't
hurt yeah a pain donor is god it's true uh next game also another fun rivalry game packers are at
the lions this game is so much better than it looked a few weeks ago this could be fireworks
yeah i mean so my one stat is the lions are allowing the most points per game in the nfl
on offense and the lions are allowing the most points per game in the nfl on defense i love that
great combo i they're the rainbow strip they're the most rainbow strip that's ever rainbow stripped
the mario like just every game goes vroom vroom i think the average game total was like 61 for
them or something it's like the 2009 saints basically
But now they played a fewer game.
So it's like points per game.
They're basically just tied for first in both categories.
But they're getting Cade Mays back at center this week.
And they're getting Brian Branch back on defense probably this week.
Oh, that's a bummer.
Their defense is going to get better.
I know.
It's too bad.
Less entertaining.
Less points.
No, but it should be like a total back and forth.
And again, Christian Watson and Matthew Golden are toward the top of the league.
Both of them separately in end zone targets and deep shots and everything.
Imagine Matthew Golden could have caught all those touchdowns.
I mean, Matthew Golden's been like a top 12 fantasy receiver.
Like it's the whole Watson's top three.
There was another play in that game, which we forgot to, I think, mention where Christian Watson caught a pass over the middle and then got up and kept running.
And then they blew it dead.
But no one had touched him.
I was like, what?
Why are you calling that down?
I get it.
I'm like, you know what, man?
The more I'm always like, why did you do that?
I'm like, dude, it's hard, man.
No one was near him.
I don't know.
Ridiculous.
The other.
The other big thing.
Obviously.
For this Packers Lions game.
So Josh Jacobs is coming back for the Packers this week.
So Josh Jacobs, the running back, he had been placed in the commissioners exempt list for the first six games of the season, which is basically like a suspension before they can do the suspension.
So they're like pre suspending him.
And so Josh Jacobs, he initially faced.
I'm just reading from the athletic now.
Josh Jacobs initially faced five charges relating to domestic abuse, including felony strangulation, suffocation.
But the district attorney ultimately only charged him with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property, which basically.
And he pleaded no contest to it in September.
And so the commissioners exempt list again.
So he's off it now because the suspension ultimately wouldn't have been more than six games.
So he's off it now after the six game ends.
And there is like a video of this incident that there's been this whole legal back and forth about, you know, whether it will come out or not wanting it sealed.
And obviously the NFL doesn't want it out.
Josh Jacobs doesn't want it out.
The other person in the altercation has filed to try to get it sealed.
And so basically.
If the video came out, I think there would be a huge backlash against Josh Jacobs.
And if the video does not come out, I think that this will probably just kind of come and go quietly, which is not maybe how things should be.
But I do think that is how things are.
And so I don't know what's going to happen or who's obtained the video or what.
But that really will probably have a huge impact on how big the story becomes.
But in the meantime, he's probably going to be the Packers running back for the rest of the season.
He doesn't even know if he's playing this week.
And I don't know if he will either.
But from how much he'll be active.
Or how much he'll play.
But going forward after this week, I do think Josh Jacobs is just the starter for the Packers going forward.
Also, just based on the way that the Packers are.
The way they're speaking in interviews suggests that he's going to be back on this team and play.
And that's the thing.
I mean, the Packers.
I mean, Matt LaFleur needs production.
And the Packers are dead last in rushing yards, even though they've played six games.
They're behind the Bengals.
The Bengals have only played five games.
It's hard to be dead last in total rushing yards when you haven't had a bye week yet.
It's actually wild.
How?
How well they've been able to pass down the field, considering they have no run game.
Honestly.
I know.
Sometimes I don't get it.
It's like Mahomes got ruined for three years because they put two safeties back.
I'm like, why can't.
I don't understand.
Why can Christian Watson and Matthew Golden just get open every time?
Well, I think it's partially related to that happened at the same time they got rid of Tyree Kill in Kansas City.
And they were trying to just have like, you know, random fast people run.
No, I know, I know one of the best receivers ever.
I know it just goes back to the whole like too high change the NFL offense thing.
And I'm like, well, Green Bay's figured it out.
We're in a different era.
I think that one, again, it was it's not too.
It's like they just put another pass defender out there.
Yeah.
And now teams are like, yeah, you can run the ball.
But I know you're saying really, but the Packers can't run the ball.
So why are they passing?
So that's my point.
I'm like, how is this?
Yeah, I don't really know, man.
The Texans are the same thing to me.
Right.
I think next game here, the San Francisco 49ers are at the Atlanta Falcons.
Yeah.
This is a good game.
I think it'd be kind of a fun game.
Considering, I guess I put it that way because you never know what Falcons are two and four.
Yeah, the Falcons are two and four.
Like on paper, this looks like a terrible game.
But I am actually quite interested to watch this one.
The stat that is that I'm going to bring here is about Mike Evans.
This is from our buddy, Stephen Ruiz.
Mike Evans is averaging.33 EPA per route run, which was the highest mark in the next gen stats era by a wide margin.
Can you explain what that means for a second take?
Because sometimes you say every route he runs is worth a third of a point.
So every three times Mike Evans runs a route, the Niners basically get a point.
And it's basically just it's about explosive plays, touchdowns, getting the ball close to the end zone or getting the ball into scoring position.
And he's just been incredibly valuable to the 49ers offense.
And what he's done.
And if you look at the splits with Mike Evans on the field versus off the field, I won't I won't read you all of them.
But like Brock Purdy's numbers are much, much better with Mike Evans on the field than they are with off.
And that was like very apparent in last week's game against commanders where the 49ers offense basically ground to a halt in the second half.
It's not like they couldn't do anything, but they just weren't nearly as explosive after Mike Evans went out.
And, you know, at this point, it's getting ridiculous who the 49ers have at receiver.
I would argue.
I would argue that the 49ers are on their third hockey shift of receivers.
It's like because the first one really should be like a squad.
If you think it's like Mike Evans, Brandon Ayuk and Debo Samuel, and they're all obviously out.
And then you could have an entire another thing of Ricky Pearsall, DeJuan Stripling and like DeMarcus Robinson.
And they're all in injured reserve, too.
So you're down literally your top six receivers is Mike Evans and Debo don't play this week.
The guy who's going to be back who hasn't played a game yet for the Niners this year is Christian Kirk.
Yeah.
Is a full participant.
He's been on IR with a calf injury for a while.
He'll be back.
And I'm almost like if Mike Evans doesn't play in this game, Christian Kirk might just have 12 catches.
I know.
It's funny because he's the most opposite style receiver to Mike Evans that you can imagine.
But he might be like member Kendrick Warren last year in the Niners.
Like Christian Kirk kind of slots in on that role.
I can see it.
We should give Brock Purdy half an MVP like this way.
If Brock Purdy comes in and has some.
Perfect passer rated game with Brandon Cooks and Christian Kirk, which is just Mad Libs of old washed receivers.
Yeah, but that's the thing.
It's funny because I don't know if I've ever respected a Niners season more than this one where they are just playing so well with all this.
But it's also tough because it's hard to see them winning the Super Bowl when they look like this.
And yeah, it's like injuries.
Late mid October.
Well, it's funny, though, because it's like you could say you could say the Niners are peaking too early because it's like, oh, they're undefeated now.
But can they can they keep this up until the Super Bowl?
But I'm like.
Well, they're also super hurt right now.
And and undefeated.
That's true, everyone's rehabbing.
Right.
So I'm like by the end of the season, like Dijon's dribbling could be back.
All these guys could be back.
Yeah.
Wow.
Maybe that's what the substation thing was, where they like just hurt everyone in the beginning.
So everyone's healthy for the Super Bowl.
The new edge is just having everyone on IR until like week 15.
And winning.
Stash.
Right.
Well, yeah, yeah.
And winning.
Yeah.
Everyone's saying the NBA regular season doesn't matter.
Does college football matter with it?
Like the Niners are like, you know, if you just make it there, just get everything.
Maybe everyone's secretly healthy.
Mike Evans is maybe the most beat up player I've ever seen through the first six weeks of the season.
Like already now, like if you read his injury report today, it's like he didn't practice, of course.
I also I love that it's like he's been on the Niners for like three months, essentially.
And they're like, he obviously doesn't need to practice to play like he like on the box.
He was there for 12 years.
Kyle Shanahan is already calling this current injury that Mike Mike Evans has soreness.
Like he's just fucking beat to shit.
They're like, yeah, I think it's like the it's the truest thing.
It just limps from every goddamn play.
Also, I don't know why, because other teams do do this.
But there's something funny about the Niners.
Injury report feels to me like they have commas.
Yeah.
Like they have so many injuries that they actually like they can't even fit.
Like, I feel like the columns in their little spreadsheets are larger on the Niners.
They're using semicolons.
Hold on to take a breath.
Okay.
But would you guys is there any world in which?
Like if Mike Evans doesn't play and they do activate, which it looks like they're going
to Christian Kirk, that if you're like have some tricky by weeks this week that you might
start Christian Kirk.
Or Brandon cooks.
Crazy.
I would start with cooks just because I've seen cooks play.
And like, I mean, as something as simple as like Brock pretty went to Brandon cooks for
a touchdown.
It was caught undone by a pound penalty.
And then he went to Brady cooks again in the end zone.
That's actually, I mean, that's pretty encouraging to me, Kirk.
I don't think it's crazy though.
Like I, you seen it a lot.
I, you know, you have to be pretty down bad.
But I mean, you know, if you're in a deep enough league or you have the wrong buys,
I don't think that's insane at all.
I mean, would you be shocked if Christian Kirk or Brandon cooks had more points than
like Omar Cooper jr.
This?
No, I kind of wouldn't.
Yeah.
It's risky, but like, you know, it's not a crazy idea.
The Niners are favored by two and a half in Atlanta.
Do you think Atlanta has a shot in this game?
It's weird.
Line took a shot to the ribs.
Yeah.
I, I, I never know how ribs injuries to me are always like, especially quarterback rotational.
I never know.
Yeah.
I mean, I think he's a good player.
but they introduced like a new logo for this week.
um and um everyone just says it looks like the nazi flag yeah yeah this this looks like
pete hegseth designed it yes he's on the design team yeah yeah they just made fun of that on snl
oh did they yeah the logo behind him that clearly looks like the
the a lot of nazi looking stuff it keeps sure it's a coincidence yeah i'm sure it's a coincidence
who would have thought dude this falcons logo the replies it's worth your it's worth your while to
go on to twitter maybe we'll link to it or whatever and just read the replies there it's
sometimes the internet is good you know some people photoshopped it so the falcons doing the
heil hitler uh right the actual falcon is yes the actual falcon someone had like the falcon itself
looks shocked but it's just all the memes it's the best memes in a long time like they're they're
doing this they're really they're really pushing this out okay i like the tweet that said this
would go crazy on 1940s german twitter right my the one that made me like piss my pants was the
someone just had instead of tom brady they had dwight eisenhower sitting on the 28th down 28
to 3 the allies the allies the allies versus the axis oh oh my god okay didn't they do it
didn't take it down i either have to stand with that i either respect that or i'm because if you
say i'm questioning that i don't know what you kind of acknowledge like hey yeah it's like
fuck this kind of looks nazi kind of look nazi yet yeah do you think that's like roger goodell
calling up the ravens and he's like so i gotta ask you some questions here i know it's ridiculous
but you know i just have you ever read mind comp a couple times why a couple times something you
missed there some easter eggs that you didn't uh i skimmed it is it great true is it true that
your dog is named after hitler he's like a dog name thing he's like no not true great different
spell what what different spell just checking the old till here yeah i'm interested in that
period of history what about it this scale three million polls 20 million russians eight million
italians a couple million
until there just checking the till here a couple million short
the scale so good that guy's a good actor that guy's so good
vandals making this your most rewarding season and in the spirit of giving we're each going to
give our favorite touchdown scorer for the weekend dk who's your favorite touchdown
scorer for the weekend i'm going with matthew golden the receiver for the packers who probably
should have had like three or four last week now he's going up against the lions who's
defensively and he's going up against the lions who's defensively and he's going up against the
defense who's defensively and he's going up against the lions who's defensively and he's going up
defensively and he's going up against the lions who's defensively and he's going up against the
defense is not very good so go with uh matthew golden he can catch the touchdown but can he
hold the touchdown it's the holding but he can catch something
craig what about you i'm going with nico collins facing your new york giants piece plus 130 to
score a touchdown he hasn't had one in a couple weeks but started the season very hot i feel like
this is a game where the texans are going to be in the red zone often i think this is a really
good one nico collins had a not invisible last week for us the jaguars
but a lot of cleat issues he had more issues with the grass and he was just really frustrated with
his cleats last week and i think he had an underrated impact or underrated coming into
this game and also i had a giant argument my friends this week about um deontay banks the
cornerback of the giants who they're saying is playing better and i hate still and i think nico
collins will just destroy deontay banks uh my i'm sticking with the same game jg mccarthy two
touchdowns is 80 to one two passing touchdowns or two rushing touchdowns or receiving technically i
had to taste some hill essentially i you think i'm kidding but that is why i think the entire point
is he's gonna run like jackson dart and i think it's one quarterback sneak and one actual earnest
rushing touchdown 80 to one and he's not really rushed like that in the past but i think the
giant's gonna use him as a runner more than he's ever been used it will be this game and uh i don't
know if that's smart but i think it'll happen so 80 to one if all these happen jg to score two
golden to get one nico that is one dollar win 394 dollars yeah 94 to one
love that

all right the next game here this is the pittsburgh steelers i mean at quote unquote home game for the
new
orleans saints this game is in paris right in old or leon yeah yeah i mean we can do like
the most interesting part of this game is that it's in paris and what's going on in paris we can
talk about the football if we want first um my one stat is that the saints are allowing the most
points in the nfl they're giving up 30 points a game and if you look at who it's been to they
give up 31 to the lions 35 to vegas 45 to the falcons and 27 to jamis winston and jj mccarthy
they allow jj mccarthy to have more
passing yards in 11 minutes than any vikings quarterback has had this year
which is unbelievable oh no um carthy with rushing had like 275 yards in 11 minutes
i mean him just having more than any vikings quarterback at a game this year in 11 minutes is
it's not nothing um even though it was half garbage time i guess
but i mean this is another game going into it where i'm like the steelers should win this game
i mean the saints are a little beat up right now they still don't have etn tyler tyler shucks playing
with the team and they're not playing with the team and they're not playing with the team and
two broken bones and he's handing off with the other hand he's doing the backwards handoff which
i never like i always think of fumbles coming um they can't run the ball their offensive line is
banged up and the steelers are like relatively held together right now they should be able to
run the ball uh but on the flip side of things this game's in paris my one dumb stat is that
nfl teams that have left on thursday night and arrived on friday for a game in europe are three
and oh this year which is what the steelers are doing and not the saints
who got there earlier in the week oh man there's so much travel talk this year i love it it's
fascinating it's like the nfl version of like normal people talking about the weather so when'd
you fly in yeah where are you staying how are you fighting the jet lag when'd you get in
yeah chris alave and dk metcalf hanging out in the lobby bar so when'd you get in
oh that's funny um so wait sorry they've
they flew in on thursday night and arrived on friday morning
flying today yeah it's gonna land on friday morning and go right to practice
wow we're recording it's thursday october 22 before thursday they're probably leaving soon
and they're literally getting off the plane and claim that they're gonna i'm sure they're
shit located dropped off at the hotel but they're claiming they'll go to the practice so then they
try and stay up until that night they're gonna sleep on the plane but yeah yeah yeah ideally
do they have that giant australian plane with all the beds doubt it i don't think so that was
part of the one that didn't work the a380 or whatever it is i don't know that was part of
the thing with the jalen hurts thing that got you know a lot of the information kind of got wires
crossed and obviously he ended up being at the hospital like saturday night dealing with all
these scans and stuff but part of the reason he didn't sleep was he landed from philadelphia that
morning yeah you know what i mean like that there's like the hotel wouldn't check me in until
later yeah i'm just in the lobby my room's not ready dude if that's like i didn't want to take a
shower i'm just gonna sleep in the lobby dude if that's like i didn't want to take a shower
on the second floor if that giant australian plane were around in the 90s and maybe it was
that would have been a movie so quickly in like 1988 you know what i mean just like the idea of
like the world's biggest plane yeah and it's like who's on it you can't get off how long's the flight
that's just easy money movie i'm not going to pretend to be an expert in it but i will just say
based on some stuff i read i'm not gonna you know what i mean but it's so paris is the middle
i'm just being honest i'm like i'm not an expert but yeah sure the basic summary i have here is
so it's this
whole all these protests started as students protesting at school basically school started
it was like high schoolers high schoolers and there was you know obviously it's a mix but
there's one school in particular started and there was spotty electricity there were not enough
teachers not enough chairs unclean bathrooms and the kids just started blockading the school that
sounds like the steelers facilities exactly two two shitters in the entire place cam hayward and
tj wap been dealing with this forever we'll be right at home yeah they're gonna join if mike
minecraft world had had this there would have been the proper amount of bathrooms and public
facilities but so yeah this spiraled from some kids blockading a high school to now the most
widespread rioting in paris in decades and obviously you know all these things get put
onto it and it you know it goes beyond the original premise of schools and it takes on
all these other issues and becomes you know it's part of everything now it's like culture war all
these other things but from what i've seen i'm getting these numbers from the new york times
but it seems almost a thousand french cop this is the whole country thousand cops have been injured
almost seven thousand people have been arrested from what i've seen curfews have been issued in
paris and in nice the city har city hall in marseille got kind of jan 6th uh they burned
down they burned it they burned down a city hall in one
city yeah uh there's a nationwide transit strike that'll be on november 5th there the louvre is
closed for like days that have louvre just closed for days the art basil festival is ending early
the nfl had i mean this is like a different scale but the nfl had a fan event at a bar that they
just kind of canceled which it's not so much about the bar but it's more the nfl even acknowledging
any kind of cancellation is kind of like a little bit of a a thing tells you what's happening on the
ground so they they managed to have a champions league game this week they had psg versus barcelona
but frankly the french care a lot more about the champions league than the nfl and the question is
are people going to protest or whatever around the game and try to disrupt it
um or not because apparently saturday is going to be a huge protest day we'll see about sunday
but um yeah the game's five miles outside the city but it is it is an it is an interesting
time for the nfl to end up there this game has all the makings to me of it's like i wake up
it's the third quarter and it's like nine to three and it's just one of those ugly old school
things
you know
international early games i'm interested to see what's going on with the grass
because last week the london game i was really interested that the grass is a little slick
to the point where a referee is out for the season and again the impact is there's no pass rush
like the i think defensive linemen don't get the jump off and it just ends up helping the
offensive line i think it's supposed to be better in this game there was like a whole thing i read
about it where they were going to use turf and then they actually went with a real grass that
that was growing in italy and they brought that in and they've had yeah the grass is from milan
italian grass italian grass not bad um and they've had more time to like get it set and prepare it
than they had in like rio so they feel apparently better about this it's like the plot to the
gentleman i was wanting the show they're growing italian grass importing it into france um you know
the gentleman's amazing i i've watched both seasons and the movie it's one of those shows
that it's it's classic guy richie where i'm like this is ridiculous but also i'm entertained yeah
the movie is incredible uh you need to invest in some parachutes anyway okay this next games these
are just there's like six of these i just kind of bucketed these as just desperate times just
someone involved in these games ever desperate starting with the giants at the houston texans
which i lambs to the slaughter here the giants have announced that jj mccarthy is going to start
we're not really announced but he's going to start jeremy fowler reported at first
and again jj mccarthy wearing 18 it's 9 2.0 double it it's happening
so my one stat double it gives the next guy that's what jj mccarthy's doing arch manning will
be 36 the my one stat for this game is that since december 7th of last year uh jj mccarthy
is basically elite by statistics okay in facts since last year december 7th how many games has
he played since then like two since december 7th don't worry about it minimum 100 minimum
100 pass attempts why do you care seven quarterbacks
since then mccarthy ranks first in success rate he's second in yards per drop back only to lamar
jackson second in epa per drop back only to brock purdy he's ahead of josh allen if you've heard of
him and he again first in success rate ahead of drake may purdy lamar joe burrow stafford wow
again jj mccarthy he's basically i mean he might i mean i don't know maybe he's high fits is burning
on the rainforest setting i'm just setting different like things on his mind i don't know
his search here to find it exactly how do we make him look at what i've always liked him how many
games has he played in that stretch four that's three and a half i think i don't know why immaterial
uh well then he should have no issues at all against houston right did you guys so i was
actually so i think the real reason they're doing this is i think that jj mccarthy is a lot more
mobile than jabez and that they can at least try to run the offense that jackson dart was doing in
week one versus dallas and like they bring more of that offense in that greg roman is probably
wanting to do i honestly thought they were going to play jamis because you let jamis get shredded
by houston go into the bye week and let mccarthy get two more weeks of practice yes that's what i
thought so i was kind of like why are they doing this and then john harbaugh the weirdest press
conference john harbaugh was asked about jj mccarthy he was like yeah i mean you know what
joe shane loved jj mccarthy the whole giant scouting staff they loved him and he was their
number one quarterback you know i you know i i kind of was familiar with him from college i'm
just kind of getting caught up now
you know i just now i gotta watch tape there's good what there's bad but um yeah we'll see they
scouts they love him and i was like what the so is he like covering his own ass down i don't know
how else you could interpret this guy stinks as if it's not he's like basically they're making me
do this uh let's see how it goes yeah this guy held out to get joe shane to report to him and
was acting like joe shane traded for mccarthy and i don't i don't know between that and like
pretending the cam scataboo thing was a benching and quibbling with the words
of it because he didn't want the headline in the new york post i i i am i conspiratorial here
i read that as him just totally being like if mccarthy sucks versus houston i'm blaming this
on joe shane craig what what's the uh line from digger where it's like they have the facts we're
gonna tell them the story or something like that i just saw the preview yes i'm like this like it's
it reminds me so much they're just they're just trying to change the narrative here uh with
everything with the scataboo thing oh yeah it was just you know the
flow of the game and we're trying to find somebody who starts like no he got zero carries
your starter got zero carries that's a benching i'm sorry like yeah he's i just i don't understand
harbaugh he's just so insistent on like he wants to bend the narrative to his will right it's
easier when you're in baltimore and like you've also won a super bowl but it's a little harder
when you're in new york and it just and also not good it's not a good team what hyvets did they
are they kind of making it sound like they're just sticking with jj mccarthy he's their starter now
test run it's like he's going to be the starter for the rest of the year i thought so until i saw
the harbaugh thing and i'm like is this trying to motivate jg but i'm like i just i this it's
really weird to say jg is the starter and then talk about joe shane and the scouts love him he's
not giving him credit let me tell you that like it's it is yeah very strange and if he's not
worried about it why is he playing him i don't get it i'm very confused yeah i mean it might
suggest that he maybe harbaugh wanted to hold him like you said if it's until after the bike because
it makes more sense and then the the front office was like no you're playing him this week and then
so harbaugh had to explain why that was happening frankly he'd have more i'd give him more benefit
of the doubt if he hadn't insisted on not saying scataboo was upon it i don't understand yeah what
he's doing by the way dk the line is they know the facts the story is yet to be told okay um i
will say i think this is the beginning of the texans defense reclaiming their status because
they again i just think the texans they were not playing as well as usual but i also think it was
and dac prescott and trevor lawrence without it in a weird field and josh allen and then the next
quarterbacks are facing are going to be jg mccarthy and uh justin herber and deshaun watson and daniel
jones and i kind of think that the texans defense the next month is going to get its credibility
back um the next game in just desperate time series the culture at the vikings and the colts
this is their first game after firing chris ballard yeah the colts fascinating team right
now are they going to start a fire sale they haven't yet but there seems to be a lot of
reports that they're going to try and trade some of their big big money people and and
kind of like reset get more draft picks for this game though i feel sorry for daniel jones
i'm scared for daniel jones my one stat this year daniel jones has a 52 passer rating against
pressure he has completed 47 of his passes for 5.5 yards per attempt zero touchdowns and two
interceptions against when he is pressured he has not done well against pressure and that is exactly
what the vikings do best they are by far the best team at creating pressure and making it really
hard on quarterbacks this year
the vikings are blitzing at a 67 percent rate two out of three snaps or two out of three dropbacks
they're blitzing or maybe that no that's just snaps they're blitzing two out of three times
it's insane it's that stat i think is per drop back but they're doing run blitzes also yeah
in comparison with that not only do they lead the league and you know pressure rate and pressuring
quarterbacks they're also second to last in missed tackles yeah they are just a swarming
make life hell it's like a beehive
like you kicked a beehive and they're coming at you yeah um and i'm i just worry that daniel jones
is going to not be able to deal with this at all i think the only way the colts win this game is if
they either run the ball really well which the vikings are a good run defense or they somehow
manage to get some turnovers on defense or special teams and kind of like do that go that route
because the vikings offense has not really shown us a ton yet um and it could be a close game from
that point of view but the colts defense is not very good either and the vikings i don't want to
pretend to understand everything brian flores does in defense but i do think the simplest way
to understand it is it's like a horror movie where if a good horror movie it's like the biggest
villager anticipation you don't know what's going to happen so your imagination is creating things
you can't trust anything you see so it's like sometimes you know if you play like a
solid defense or like even the texans sometimes it's like all right these four guys are gonna
rush and they'll be better than them and it's like the vikings you don't know which of these
six people are going to come it could be three it could be all six just because the guy's in motion
with the receiver motion doesn't mean it's man coverage like everything you've been trained to
know now you're doubting everything
and so unless you are a great quarterback that really trusts what you're seeing right
when the ball snapped you're not getting any information you can trust until the ball snapped
and so it's it's just using and so suddenly all this fear and anxiety and it's like you
just can't trust anything when i was a kid you know when i would play madden there was always
kind of two different philosophies to play madden i was always the type who tried to recreate real
life balance i wanted my offense to operate as like a real nfl offense i wanted to run the ball
20 times such a steelers fan yeah yeah it's like i wanted to feel as though this was a real nfl team
And then it's like you play your buddy
who just like goes deep every single time
single time and doesn't gauge eight and you're like you can't just do that and he's like sure
as heck he just blitzes every fucking play and then you're like that's so annoying that's not
even real football but they win because you like legitimately are too flustered by the blitz that's
just what brian flores is doing sure as heck that's a great analogy dude craig against the
pass the the vikings are more than twice as good in terms of epa per per pass on defense uh then
the second plus the second best team which is the seahawks they are they are creating havoc and
they're scoring points off of it obviously by creating turnovers and picks and it like creates
phantom pressure right like you know it's like you run the ball so that you can run play action
and then throw it and it's like the defensive version of that is almost like well if we if we
blitz two out of every three times you're not going to know the one time we're not going to
blitz is so effectively you think we could be blitzing every single time which means no matter
what it's like you know when you watch those plays i always feel like this happens to like
the cowboy
or something where it's like a third and five dac snaps the ball the defense blitz is like eight
guys and dac just like freaks out and has to get rid of it immediately it's like the version of
that but it feels like that's every play against craig that i i don't have the set in front of me
but the stats of quarterbacks against non blitzes this year against the vikings is also very like
very very bad because you never know who's gonna blitz yeah because you have all these guys up
front and so sometimes you have to account for them though you don't have the luxury of being
like ah
it's not like you have to account for it so what ends up happening is you'll have the running back
or a tight end stay in and then so now you have like seven blockers and then they drop and now
you have three rushers with seven blockers but they're all coming from one side so even though
so on one side you might have three guys blocking one and then somehow you have a mismatch on the
other side and so somehow that because you've accounted for it wrong like they are able to get
pressure in other places you weren't expecting and it's one of those where well why doesn't
everyone do it and the answer is you need to be philosophically
like to the atomic level of your organization down to cross-train everybody and teaching
every everybody needs to know how to do everything and like has this versatile skill set which sounds
so much easier than it actually is but when it looks but when you do it right it looks like the
fucking vikings where you have josh matelis and andrew you know what i mean and van ginkle these
guys who can just do everything well because you can only blitz one third of the time and effectively
have the same thing right where it's like you don't know who's coming and it's so tricky
doing it two out of three times though makes the times you don't look so much worse imagine if every
day at school a guy walked up to you and punched you as hard as he could in the shoulder if he does
it two out of every three days every third day you're wincing when he puts his arm up and that's
just what it is now it's like it's like you're thinking about it at night it's like it's like
sticking a a shorter step like randomly one like just sprinkling them in on a on a stairwell you're
just gonna fucking fall down if you don't know what to expect where to put your foot you know
what i mean it's so it is it's it's crazy what they're doing craig your analogy of madden is
so funny they really are just just sending it sure as i can see what happens it's working so far
is there after all this is there a way in which the colts win this game
well the i think the line in this game is is very very smelly six and a half yeah like the
vikings are at home they're playing the colts who's fired their gm and it's only it's it's
less than a touchdown the vikings are the best events in the league daniel jones is playing like
shit can the colts get to 10 points in this game like yeah surprising to me a little little fishy
i agree the next game here monday night football is the dallas cowboys at the philadelphia eagles
without jalen hurts yeah so dallas is favored by four and a half points in this game my stat
eagle stat eagles offense stat the eagles are dead last in 10 plus yard runs and dead last in 20 plus
everything is hard yeah i test um i will say saquon barkley's back in this game it appears
uh devontae smith is playing and i think the next two games here are going to determine what the
eagles do with the rest of the season because the eagles play a divisional game against dallas this
week and they play a divisional game against washington next week if they win both those
two games they're probably not selling they're four and four it's a super winnable division
if they lose this game and lose the next game i think you can assume that a lot of these guys
are going to get shipped out if they're two and six saquon is gone i think ben solak our guy wrote
about possible trades he could see happening and he floated saquon to houston he mentioned seattle
dk green bay i don't know what the josh jacobs stuff but houston and seattle makes a lot of
sense but to me if they lose the next two games i do think they cut bait i also think this is the
this is like the last chance for tanner mckee in a way because he was terrible last week i'll always
give the backup quarterback a little leeway when it's like he didn't even know he only got
half a week of prep that's the thing and so when you got back 40 he had 45 drop backs he was
terrible but he was actually so bad like the a good example to me the first play was a disaster
like like a true disaster to the point where i'm like okay obviously the jalen hurt situation
impacted their ability to game plan you know what i mean like it just i i actually and now
you're playing dallas which has just been just i mean even jalen daniels an undrafted rookie just
was able to look fine versus the dallas it's a home game against dallas
so i think there's a chance that tanner mckee looks fine during this week and that will be
interesting too but if he can't do it this week it's just not gonna happen if you can't look good
with the full week versus dallas i agree it's gonna it's gonna change how the i think it'll
make the eagles more likely i mean the cowboys are kind of reeling as well but i yeah the the
eagles plus four and a half and ringer 107 with saquon back mckee at home week of prep playing
dallas it has crossed my mind i i don't know if i want to bet on it but i know what you mean i will
the other the other thing we have not talked about this
so this is monday night football have you guys seen that espn for the rest of the season on
monday night football is going to have darth vader interview a player what so they're gonna have this
alt cast on sports center plus which i didn't even know was a thing and it's gonna be star wars
but part of it is darth vader is going to interview a player
like which players do you know i i don't know i only have questions that's your question
i just love the idea that i only i only got one fuck you're like i get the darth vader part sure
but who who's you gonna interview i just love the idea that nick sirianni's jogging off at
halftime and it's just gonna be like yeah that's funny uh these are these are fun and you think
vader's who do you think finishes the season acheman or vader that's why joe buck resigned
it's gonna be joe buck and darth vader i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know
wait can you do a vader craig no can you try his deep voice because i was just picturing
darth vader like interviewing jerry jones i feel like it's like i don't know it's just i actually
can't go deep no luke it's hard it's hard to do it's hard to do james earl jones i know right
one of the most iconic voices yeah yeah i don't even because i just now i'm upset i'm like i kind
of need to see jerry jones do the darth vader interview now uh these are fun i like i think
these are like you know they're trying to get kids i guess interested they did spongebob they've done
that before all the disney products i think i don't know it's kind of fun do they have like a
darth vader impersonator or is it a cartoon i think they bought the rights to like james earl
jones's voice voice years ago but it's it's gonna be like how will the interview be is it like
some somebody staring at a screen with an animated darth vader on it like how are they doing it's
but how are they hearing that
okay how do you plan on tanner mckee attacking dallas what is there somebody what do you know
what i mean like how is is nick what is nick looking at i think it's animated i have no idea
i can't wait to see is he looking at a tennis ball like what are we saying is darth is darth
gonna be like deadpan just really mean or is it gonna be like he's cracking jokes and he's like
what's the deal with the blood clot situation saquon you disappoint me i said darth vader
has like really deep so the deep vein and
thrombosis why'd you put him on a transatlantic flight it's gonna be like larry king
darth vader wins a pulitzer yeah
i don't know i just like i'm like i don't know how that's gonna work like literally like literally
like what are the mechanics looking at
is it a screen they roll out is it is he just hearing it is it a guy i don't know
it's just fucking dak prescott talking to some guy with like tennis balls on him
oh my god yeah i will i will i will be good with um i'll be good you're not gonna watch it jerry
jones to do an interview with darth vader i would just like to say that i am i'm prepared and i'm
preparing mentally and physically to start saquon barkley this week and him to be terrible
potentially leaving in the first quarter with a re-aggravation that will happen i know they're
monday night's a disaster because you can't swap anybody so it's just i know it's just he's gonna
have five points and i just know it and it's nice to know now you've resigned yourself to this the
best part is tanner mckee's gonna get a tush push touchdown seriously
i just you ever feel like with certain guys you're like if they can get through the first
quarter they'll finish the game i feel that way with saquon or like if he could just get like
eight carries and he's healthy i feel like i finished the game it's the first eight that's
like getting out of the first quarter and he's healthy and he's healthy and he's healthy and he's
healthy and he's healthy and he's healthy and he's healthy and he's healthy and he's healthy
first round yeah felt that way about mike evans and i was wrong uh next game here the rams are at
the las vegas
raiders and my one stat is that so ftn and aaron shots which kind of like is where football
outsider stuff is now so dvoa and all those stats are at ftn now and aaron shots and his team ran
the numbers on the rams and they concluded that the rams basically have the worst special teams
over a five-year window of any team that's ever seriously tried to win the super bowl
ever and they go back to the 70s that's wild uh and the only teams really that like right now
if the rams special teams dvoa held for their season it would be like the worst special teams
ever and the only teams that over a five year basically since the rams won the super bowl with
above average special teams the five years since the only teams that have had like worst special
teams are like the chargers in the late 2010s and the bills in the early 2000s like laughing stocks
and then there's the rams who are like earnestly trying to win the super bowl and i know there's
this great article at ftn about uh what's the actual comp for the rams as its preseason super
bowl favorite that is starting to
and four but did not have a quarterback injury and it's like not like oh the 2011 eagles dream
team no they were like a contender but the rams were the favorite and they went they said the
last team like this is probably the steelers in 1980 which was actually it was actually a really
good comparison because they all were too old and the iron curtain got old they had john stalworth
was basically davante adams missing half the season that's like older terry bradshaw yeah
it's just like an old team that was like too old and it was just too old too old but like yeah it's
super well consensus favorite without a quarterback injury just doesn't usually
fucking suck but the rams have done this three of the last four or five years the rim started
one and four in 2020 uh three and six in 2023 they started one and four in 2024
so they have to scrape in and try to get like a wild card now
dude the nfl back in the day was so different the year that terry bradshaw won the mvp
he had 20 interceptions and he threw for 2900 yards dude turnovers
turnovers are like the original analytics everyone now is like oh i gotta win the turnover
battle that was cutting edge in the 60s was 2900 yards and 20 interceptions and he won the mvp how
many touchdown passes 28 28 and 20 it's like a james it's like an average james here now
yeah dude look at look at like joe dude all those guys are throwing so many interceptions
it was like they're just getting absolutely clobbered too did they joe yeah joe nameth
in 74 through 20 touchdowns in 22 and joe nameth had 28 interceptions in 1975
bradshaw also had eight fumbles so bradshaw had 20 28 turnovers and 28 touchdowns
that's tough that's fucking awesome
the yeah it's insane they're not doing the rams they won the fucking super bowl so
what hi fitz what's your theory on the rams what why do that why are they so bad at special teams
because i know a lot of people are just like oh they don't
care i'm like obviously they have to care it's i think on so here's here's my working imagine if
you ask john mcveigh after like five beers he's like i just don't care i just don't care i just
think it's not really a part of the game i have a working theory on this part of it is it's probably
just a blind spot for him like that's just you know what i mean he's just not good at evaluating
it i think it's part of it but my working theory is it's actually about fuck them picks and then
eight years without a first-round pick in that whole philosophy because the irony of that
statement is the rams is good yeah rams make a ton of picks the rams over that period made i think
i wish i had the number in front of me but they about made the most draft picks in the nfl actually
they just didn't like first-round picks and less need who's the gm of the rams my theory so he
was the rams gm when they made the robert griffin trade and they traded down for robert griffin
and they got like 11 picks for that and almost none of them worked right they got like michael
brockers and janoris jenkins and missed on like the other eight people
and i think less need was radicalized that first-round picks are overrated
so they made all these trades but the rams make a ton of fifth-round picks and a ton of
six-round picks and fourth-round picks and even puka naku is a fifth-round pick that they picked
up randomly and so the rams are trying to get starters out of all these guys and it works look
at ernest jones right wasn't he i think he was like a you know it's still back now like a random
mid-round pick so the rams are more than other teams trying to find starters
out of the rams and they're trying to get starters out of the rams and they're trying to get starters
out of these late round picks no they have to they have they literally yeah have to find starters
right out of these late round picks which is therefore the special teamers are put on the
back burner they're just not they because they've traded all these first round picks the rams don't
have the luxury of taking guys or developing a special teamer it's like the patriots always
took like a kicker a punt returner and a punter in like the third and fourth round yeah and so
that's the thing it's special teams it's like they say yeah it'll be a priority but no it's not it's not
they've already made that decision that they need these people to play on the team they can and like
you end up with nate landman who's like just punching out footballs left and right but the
process of how you find nate landman is you were not fucking looking for gunners on special teams
yeah and so the special team sucks because it's the last priority that's my fascinating the irony
is they use their first round pick on a non-starter this year yeah they drafted their third string
quarterback i i will not beat them up for that as much as other people i'm just i'm just i'm just
long-term planning i don't know i know simpson's good it's one thing i think i think it's kind of
stupid i mean if he would have been their backup i could have maybe like talked myself into it but
he's quite literally their third string quarterback i i don't know they could just have like but they
see concepcion or something right now okay but here's the thing could have come in handy what
what would you say is the single most criticized draft pick of the last 10 years because i would
say it was the packers taking jordan love i don't know about that i don't i don't think that would
because he was a late first rounder he oh yeah it was the 25th pick but aaron rogers won the mvp
and they took a quarterback in the first well it was like it was a hotly contested pick because it
was like disrupting the chemistry i don't know everything i don't know during a super bowl t a
super bowl caliber team took a quarterback in the first round for their aging mvp caliber
quarterback yeah but that's matthew stafford that's what they just did don't you think that
like the the number one criticism one of the most common criticisms is a front office look at the
golden state warriors is the two timelines
sure and it's like really you're taking james wiseman and you're going to try to make that work
trade the pick get a player like get somebody who can compete for steph right now while you're in
the window that is what you should be doing with matt stafford and davante adams you can say that
but like also when it doesn't work and they have no quarterback then they'll be like why the fuck
did you know they were worried about my staff back three years ago yeah but if it doesn't work
there's no fan who's like man i'm really upset that we spent the 13th pick on a defensive lineman
or a receiver when we could have been planning
for the downfall of matt stafford no one's going to be upset if the gm's like we were trying to win
the super bowl and make the best team possible that's not true at all people will absolutely
be upset if you try to win the super bowl and fall short i think the way again oh i i disagree
with that yeah no but here's the thing well no fine i get what you're saying to be clear you're
right that no one's going to be like why didn't you have a quarterback people will separately
view those decisions separately be like why don't we have a quarterback now they'll just be mad and
you'll suck here's my point how much of it's because people think ty simpson is a quarterback
bad because if ty simpson plays for the rams later and is bad yeah that's a bad pick but if
ty simpson plays and is good no one's no one looks back at the jordan love pick and is mad about it
no yeah because jordan loves playing really well that's fine but the 13th pick in the draft or
whatever it was a guy who some people thought was like not even a first round talent and you never
have first round picks and you're the super bowl favorite and you take a quarterback that people
think didn't deserve to be 13th overall that's the different question and that's the different question
and that's where it becomes that's becomes where it's dubious where it's like less need called a
shot a long time ago and it sounds like less need because he knew ty simpson's dad told ty simpson's
dad that if you come out on the draft we will take you so you should declare to be honest where it
gets weird to me the the other thing that that i think absolutely needs to be discussed in this
whole conversation is ty simpson very few starts in college like he was he sat for what was it
three years and then started yeah and now he's going to sit for another year or two
so he's going to play like one year in five or six that and to be clear and that's like just a bad
plan so that that's look it's only a bad plan if it doesn't work but i disagree with that no i think
if it does work that means you could still do something stupid and get lucky and it works out
doesn't mean you made the decision but you have to throw darts a quarterback it's just like acting
like he's the only quarterback in the world right i'm not what do you mean they're gonna first it's
like take a quarterback if you can't if you don't get a quarterback here we can never get a quarterback
that's like just like a false well it's hard i'm not defending ty simpson
i'm defending when a team actively is proactive about getting a quarterback that is smart and
like it is not sexy but it's like you know you know who was again one of the weirdest picks ever
aaron fucking rogers the pat it's honestly i'm just the packers are the perfect example this
brett farve lost in the nfc championship game to the giants when aaron rogers was on the bench
and they could have had a first round probably guard or whatever aaron rogers lost to the nfc
with jordan love on the bench and they ran out of cornerbacks there's tom brady you could argue
that if the packers had just taken a cornerback in 2007 or in 2020 that like the packers could
have made a super bowl or won one and they didn't but in exchange they got 15 years of aaron rogers
and maybe 15 years of jordan love you and like no one else even but here's the thing no one even
tries to do this no one else is everyone else is afraid to try i respect the rams for having the
balls to even try to have a succession play in a quarterback no one else even tries i am very
curious why they went for a quarterback whose talent is not like physical tools but apt
I think he's like the quarterback they chose.
Trying to take any quarterback to me is smart.
I don't know.
I don't think Rams fans are feeling like that right now.
No, but it's also like people are like, oh, this is this is hindsight.
Like, no, we were saying this.
Yes.
On draft night.
Like, yes.
What if Devante Adams gets hurt?
Then what?
Sure.
Of course we were.
Guess what?
He's out for the rest of the year, probably.
OK.
And that's but that's kind of my point is would have would have like let's say that maybe
Vega you want.
It would have been a great pick for them.
But my point is that wouldn't have made a difference in this season for the Rams.
This one rookie doesn't seem right now like the difference between them being two and
four or not.
They don't.
You don't think having a like one of the receivers.
You don't think Jeremy Bernard has played a difference in the Steelers being four and
two.
I would say it absolutely has.
You don't think Casey Concepcion on the Rams would help.
But of course he has.
But I'm I'm just saying that like if the quarterback thing ends up being right, having a quarterback
for a 10 year period is so much more important than everything else.
It's about half.
I think I think I think no one's.
No one's arguing.
I'm just saying that like if it turns out like if Ty Simpson's like an all pro that
it was that that it was getting cute.
It's getting like they're trying to thread the fucking that's like smallest needle in
the world.
Yes.
You have a chance to win the Super Bowl and you're not taking it.
You are not doing everything you can to win the Super Bowl this year.
You can't say they are.
They are literally not by taking Ty Simpson.
I don't know about the plan, but I'm not going to knock them for taking a quarterback at
13 and having any kind of plan for the future because teams that I don't know, just everyone
tries to luck into a quarterback.
It doesn't work.
I don't know if Ty Simpson's the guy, but to me, it's like not a crazy idea to take
a quarterback at 13.
I just have my doubts about Ty Simpson.
I'm just shocked that people don't.
We don't.
I don't think we need to keep going in circles on this.
We can we can move on.
Maybe they should have taken a kicker in the first round.
I know, right?
They should have taken all special teamers.
I like that.
We just did like a like a July first take segment right there.
It's week seven.
We're like, why did they take Ty Simpson?
Well, they're two and four shit happens.
You're two and four people question you.
The next game is Broncos are at the Cardinals.
Speaking of teams that might need a succession plan at quarterback.
Here we go.
Knicks.
Bo Knicks is the story of the week here.
I think for the Broncos and his relationship with Sean Payton and whether they can get
this offense kind of righted after really, really struggling throughout the first six
weeks.
Bo Knicks.
I don't even like my stat of the week is basically just that Bo Knicks has regressed.
Horrifically from last year, and that was not even a high super high bar last year based
on like some of his efficiency stats.
He is averaging 5.5 yards per attempt this year.
That'll be my stat because if you watch their offense, it just feels like they can't do
anything.
They are just everything is very, very difficult outside of a few drives that they've had this
season.
Nothing has looked easy for the Broncos often, so I guess that would be where we start here.
They're going up against the Cardinals.
Defense where this could be a good get right game for them, but I think something has to
change with this Bo Knicks Sean Payton thing or else it feels like we're heading towards
a benching at some point.
I don't know what to make.
I feel like I've come 540 on Bo Knicks because I hated him at coming out of Oregon.
I didn't like I hated the spinning.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Third of his passes were at the line of scrimmage behind, and then I begrudgingly came to respect
him when he played a couple of years really well, and then I started hating him again
at the beginning of the season.
And now I'm like, I'm almost wondering if the criticism has gone too far because I'm
like, clearly he's hurt, still recovering from this ankle injury.
He doesn't look as fast and his offensive coordinators, head coach are in an open political
feud over power.
And I'm like, yeah, maybe it's not a great environment to like be succeeding.
He's playing horribly, but I'm like, I don't know.
He's I just feel like he's not healthy.
And there's like, it seems like a pretty toxic offensive environment with the coaching.
Yeah.
To I've at this point, to me, the biggest errors of Bo Knicks is his legs and like he
is what, what, what Bo Knicks is.
Bo Knicks lacked in whatever accuracy or certain passing skill set he made up for with
his mobility, with his like explosive plays with his legs.
Dude, he's got 37 rushing yards this year, the whole year.
In six games.
He's, he had, he basically had 400 each of the last two years and he's got 37 in six
games.
And there was a specific play last week.
I don't remember what down it was, but it was a crucial moment in the game and he kind
of stepped up in the pocket, started to run and it was him and a defender and he had to
get like five yards and he couldn't get around the defender.
He couldn't even really make him run.
He just like ran out of bounds.
He just, no, he ran into him because he couldn't shimmy around.
He just kind of ran into the defender, got tackled.
It was a two yard run and they had to punt.
And to me, I was like, that's the difference in Bo Knicks right there.
Next game is Bucs Panthers.
Bucs at Panthers.
My one stat is that Tampa Bay is the only team in the league to have every game decided
by one score, which to me, the Bucs are kind of the buy low candidate of the moment.
Baker, it looks like he's going to come back from this thumb dislocation.
He's back practicing.
There's some quotes that concern me a little bit.
You know, this feels quick, to be honest.
Missing three games with a dislocated thumb on your throwing hand.
Your thumb is out of its socket?
Think about just like holding a football and throwing it and imagine your thumb was dislocated.
You can't put a spiral on a football without your thumb.
Right.
And he said, this is from Baker today on Thursday.
We've gotten to a place where it's strong enough to play.
Don't love that.
And then he said, there's a pretty solid plate on the back of the glove that will
prevent any other injury.
And I'm like, so you got a plate in the glove.
The thumb is strong enough to play.
Makes me a little nervous.
If you buy that he's healthy and you look at the Bucs schedule, what they've done,
how the defense has kind of turned around a little bit, even though they're one in five,
they're playing a division game this week against Carolina.
Then they play Atlanta, another division game next week.
They win both those games and then they're tied for the most wins in the division.
So this is a really important stretch here.
So I guess my point is, is that like,
this is a turning point, I think,
and whether the Bucs actually have any shot this year to win the South.
Yeah.
The other thing to note here is Mecca Bucca was a late addition to the concussion protocol.
Yeah.
So he may, you have to keep a, keep that in mind over the weekend
and make sure that he's going to clear that concussion protocol
because he may not play in this game too.
Which I feel like if you're added to the concussion protocol late,
you're probably not going to.
I would assume so, but you never know.
It's kind of an individual basis thing.
And so keep that in mind.
Cause I, I think that showed up late.
The next game is, I mean, these few games are just yuck.
The Cleveland Browns are at the Tennessee Titans.
I mean, holy shit.
Do we just, I mean, is this just an auto skip?
There's just the only, yeah.
My one stat is just the Browns are the worst first quarter team in the NFL
and the Titans are the worst first half team in the NFL.
Yeah.
Rich Rebar, my goat, sharp football.
Browns are literally losing the first quarter combined 44 to six
and the Titans are losing the first half of combined 82 to 23.
Both are the worst in the NFL and they're both the worst two teams
on third and long.
The Browns are five for 42 on third and long.
Yeesh.
And third and long is considered third and seven or longer.
Third and seven plus.
Five for 42 for Cleveland.
That's like a third and 15 stat.
Yeah.
Third and 20.
The Raiders had five third and long conversions last week.
Yeah.
It's pretty bad.
And the Titans are worse.
The Titans are five for 36, which is the second worst,
but five.
Five for 42.
It's not happening for Cam Ward.
This first half is going to be rough.
Cam Ward can't get to 200 yards in a game.
Remember Bryce Young?
That was like a big thing.
That was another stat I had written down that until this year,
60% of Bryce Young's games were under 200 passing yards.
60% up until this year.
And now this year he's thrown for 280, I think, in every single game.
But now that's just Cam Ward.
Like Cam Ward getting to 200 is like a legitimate achievement.
I'm concerned.
I don't want to watch this game.
I will say the big news around this game that happened was,
I mean,
this was a crazy story,
but the Titans released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott.
Apparently Jordan Elliott got into a fight with the right tackle,
JC Latham,
during the practice and it got so heated that Jordan Elliott went to
his car and got a gun and that the John Franklin Myers,
the defensive tackle deescalated the situation and then they cut him.
And then the ESPN reported that the gun never left Elliott's parking
spot,
which makes me think that the gun was taken out of the car.
Hard pivot.
Dolphins are at the New York Jets.
Right.
Woo.
Another interesting game here.
The one stat I have,
is the NFL find Aaron Glenn,
$250,000 for his conduct against the refs or towards the refs.
So,
so this is just to be clear,
Aaron Glenn dangling the challenge flag.
He got fined $250,000 for that.
I don't,
we don't know if that's the actual moment that that was why he got
fined.
What's wrong with that?
Probably not.
But he's like,
he's just being really,
are you kidding me?
He was like,
I think that's what got them mad at him.
It's like,
he was like,
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
They looked for something else.
Cause that was like at most antagonistic.
I think it's,
people don't want to be made fun of him.
And I think the rest were holding,
holding the is a lot.
I know.
I actually didn't know they could find a lot of money,
man.
I mean,
dude,
Bella checkup is different.
It was a long time ago,
but Bella check,
I find half a million for spy gate.
That was half a million.
So it's not just,
it's not just Glenn,
those Sirianni,
Glenn and a third one.
Who is the,
I can't remember who the third coach.
Yeah.
They find three coaches,
dude,
they're racking in the cash this year.
Dude,
two 50.
I,
I,
I guess coach dollars have gone up a lot,
but I actually did not know they could find a coach that much from
something like being mean to referees.
You guys asked me before,
would you rather become a meme or break your arm?
And I said,
break my arm.
Would you guys rather be the author of a great meme?
Like we saw with Aaron Glenn,
where people are going to use this for years,
probably,
or keep two,
250 K.
Oh,
so it's like for the price of,
for the small price of $250,000,
you can have your very own.
viral meme you could be the star of a hilarious good meme like the leo pointing on the couch
i guess if you had the means would you pay 250 it's like it's advertising it is yeah he's investing
in his own lore sure anyway i think 250 is ridiculous also this year insane amount of flags
like they're the refs are flagging teams i think at a higher clip than we've ever seen that's
correct i have a fun stat for you and i don't know if this is because of the flags that the
the average duration of an nfl game this season is three hours and 11 minutes which is seven minutes
longer than the last several years um this season there all have also been 15 penalties per game
which would be the most in a season in the super bowl era do you think that's i mean i guess
literally that has to factor in the length of the game because you're waiting because you're
like waiting for them to huddle up and make a call and then you know they're backing them up
and whatever the it is funny we talked about this
all off season we really want the games to be longer and to have more flags so it's great to
see that this is coming true i don't think it's entirely the ref's fault hi fits and i will know
if it's loves the refs i don't know it's different i don't love the refs but we need refs and they
literally can't play the sport without refs and also it's fucking hard so uh you ref a play but
the here's how i do it not throw a flag refer okay well this is the perfect stat this is why
i'd be adored by the
masses well here's why rich rebar at sharp football had this thought that really caught
my eye most delay of game penalties through six weeks in the 2000s delay of game the only
arguably true other than 12 men in the field truly objective one it's also a little subjective it's
a little subjective it's a little but that's the point though of all the flags in the nfl does
does anyone get more benefit of the doubt than fucking delay of game where they really give you
like 41 and a half seconds and so that caught my eye combined with
248 false starts are the most to this point of the season since 2007 you know rich's point was
there's a lot of motion yeah everyone's introducing more pre-snap motion and it's harder and so the
offensive operations are just more complicated and you look at jacksonville these other teams
and it's the pre-snap shit is is the and holding are the two biggest things yeah it's a good point
and it's kind of what i thought about i i think you know how it kind of ebbs and flows in the nfl
like who has the advantage of the offense of the defense and i feel like at the end of the 2010s it
was kind of like the offense was like kind of starting to beat the defense and i feel like now
the defense has caught up and now you have like these really kind of elaborate complicated defenses
and you have these like young quarterbacks trying to run complicated offenses to match them and it's
like watching the chargers where you're like there's just too much going on here and it's not
working and it does kind of feel like that is what's happening with a lot of offenses right now
yeah it's like you look at the chargers and you're like like there are plenty of times where i want
to make fun of the refs i made for the rest all the time but then you look at the charges and you're
like well they're just committing a lot of penalties man like they just are the the jaguars
every week i want to be like i'm like the jaguars just do a lot of shit wrong man it's just did you
guys see the the florio clip where he was talking about why he believes that so you know the falcons
had three primetime games in a row now the bears are beginning their stretch of three primetime
games in a row and i think there's another one later in the season his his theory is that this
is because the nfl is like preparing fans to get used to the nfl and it's like it's like it's like
they're getting used to the idea of that basically if they want to have a game every night of the week
tuesday and wednesday the only way you could do that is if a team plays wednesday then the next
week they'd have to play tuesday or thursday right if they played tuesday one week the next week
would have to be monday or wednesday practically speaking they need to have them go back to back
yes yeah and so they're like getting people used to the idea of seeing the same team for like three
week stretches i love florio i know how's he fucking come up with this stuff i mean it might
be true
but i i was like oh that's that's a fun little it's fascinating yeah yeah no one's doing it
like that anymore man him and she's out there just i know dude just ripping it my favorite passes so
pro football talk just ripping it's like the most antiquated webs nothing else exists like
pro football talk and they've had this button and unfortunately they modernized it which made
me sad because it used to look like this website from 25 years ago and there's just a button on it
called all caps bang it here for the latest news and rumors
exclamation point bang it here nothing on the internet gives me literally nothing in football
makes me happier than just bang it here for the latest news love it um he might be right he might
be he might be a fucking genius did you know that psoriatic arthritis may progress over time

information this episode is brought to you by chevrolet chevy drivers need a truck that shows
up the same way they do that's why chevy silverado is number one in manufacturer loyalty so they can
go where others won't make their own way there and always get it done and as long as chevy people
keep showing up we'll keep building trucks that do the same chevrolet together let's drive visit
chevy.com slash trucks to explore the lineup the last thing here well no i don't know there's more
but the um we we didn't mention this week that jay-z dick cheney the halftime show to steal matt
bell and he's phrasing this week that was that's right matt
bounty broke on his newsletter what i'm hearing that jay-z is hosting the halftime show for those
who don't know jay-z's company rock nation was hired by roger goodell for five or six years ago
to basically make the halftime show cool and to hire to pick the halftime show artist every year
oh okay and jay-z then has now chosen himself which like i like if if rock nation's job if it
wasn't rock nation's job and it was just jay-z was i think people be happy about like it's like it's
cool can i give
you my theory on why this happened and i think i'm at least partially right i don't know how much
okay basically like why did jay-z do this now and i think there's a lot of reasons and i'm sure some
of them i know and most of them i don't know however there's one reason i think this really
was the kernel in his mind the knicks won the nba championship and it was like the best moment
in new york city history and nobody fucking gave a shit about jay-z nobody played empire state of
mind and nobody cared about jay-z he wasn't invited to any of it because he tried to own that quarter of a
percent of the nets and he tried to make the nets a thing and it's the biggest failure he's ever tried
to business was to make the nets a thing they're culturally soulless irrelevant i don't think this
is like image reclamation i think it is because he's like he wasn't even no one was mad at him
no one thought about him at all jada kiss was more relevant than jay-z all summer in new york city
every new york the svu actor was more famous morisca hargitay hosted the emmys yeah that's
hosting snl it is like being a new york celebrity like jay-z was supposed to be like the number one
new york celebrity and he fell down like behind uh the the guy in mr deeds who does all the adam
stay on the movies john turturro who's getting more airtime with the knicks than jay-z and i
think he actually has to this is i think this is part of that uh i just love that that goodell
the nfl pays rock nation five million dollars a year to pick the artist and they're like
great thanks it's me thanks for the five million it's me it's like we you know what look we don't
get paid to be the halftime show yes so we're getting paid to choose me for the halftime show
apparently miley cyrus and bieber were considered um i also he's cool i'm sure beyonce will come out
like it'll probably be great no it will be good i mean yeah i mean i also beyonce coming out
imagine if she didn't come out it'd almost be like a larger story if beyonce didn't show up yeah
it's just so good did you guys have it did you see that a kid named his son
nixon five fuck that's sick i wish oh like k-n-i-c-k-s-o-n space this is like seinfeld
when george is like i want to name my kid like mickey mantle seven and then someone else was
like good idea i'll do that he's like no that's my idea one of my favorite episodes he came up
with the name seven um yeah nixon five f-y-v-e nixon five so i i gotta tell you that's good i
wore my nix championship hat a lot around dc the last couple weeks and the best feeling and so i
don't live in new york i live in dc and it is the best thing ever people will just stop in the middle
of the street and scream at me i had a box truck pull over in the middle of traffic and just starts
hey hey you hey you and i'm like what he's like nixon five and like delivery drivers will just
stop on their bikes and be like just start pointing at me and i'm like what and i'm like
oh i'm wearing a nix hat this guy's like go nix like every
you can't walk around if you were a Knicks gear and not running to other
Knicks fans.
will you name your son nixon i mean he'd go by nick you could go by n-i-x-o-n like
is the spelling like richard nixon nixon it's spelled like nick like a new york nick k-n-i-c-k-s-o-n
nixon knickerbocker that's great i would i would talk to jackie about it i i would bring it up
the last thing before we get to ringer 107 did you guys see that photos of justin herbert buying
miller light at a grocery store in l.a i was like hoping it was ai i know i thought it was fake
yeah he's in los feliz which i believe just means that madison beer leaves lives in los feliz because
i think herbert lives on the west side but yeah he's just in a grocery store in a sweatshirt
buying miller light i feel like this is our first we we have our ben affleck of the nfl it's justin
herbert yes it is absolutely the he did look like tired it's exactly what it is tired he had flowers
and and a couple of
cases of miller light and shuffling those into his car on a gloomy day it's great i have nothing
else to say i just thought that was great it's really good i hope he's doing okay yeah i mean
he's having some miller lights with his girlfriend with his fiancee on a friday or saturday night
whatever this is very much like the version of the matt or the the ben affleck smoking outside just
yeah just every time he picks up duncan donuts he gets photographed it's great
like ben affleck the only joy in my life is is fucking smoking this dart right now
ben affleck went on subway takes and apparently that was the guy that was so good yeah he got
ben affleck and he was like i wish people i wish your the photos of you weren't as famous as your
movies and he's like me too man me too and he was like the thing that sucks is like it's only really
been like four times that i actually got photographed picking up duncan donuts but
there's so many angles of it it feels like it's different days but it's not
oh man oh wait dk did you want to say something about that i don't know if it's a good thing or
oh wait dk did you want to talk about so the nba started last night do you want to talk about
lamella balls travel yeah so you know the commercials with the progressive coach life
coach who tries to keep new homeowners from turning into their parents i do feel like i
need someone like that around me at all times because of this particular thing i can't i have
to say something about this what the fuck are we doing how is that amount of travel he he's
the first nba player to like ice skate on the court it's the most egregious thing i've ever
seen it actually fills me with rage i i it's egregious enough that i think it might bring
everybody together to like insight change it's the perfect player too lamella yeah totally the
person they like talk shit after he did it uh like to the to someone on the sideline he claimed he's
out of control he's like well i kind of let go of the ball and when you do that you can take as many
as you want god damn it man i'm like literally fuck off that is the most blatant travel in the
history of the nba yeah i feel dumb like i'm like i understand it's a boomer take to complain about
traveling i totally understand that but i'm like i'm channeling like forrest gump i'm like i'm not
a smart man but i know what a travel is and that's a fucking travel you could never convince
me that's not a travel in a million years it's like eight steps he literally took five steps
yeah i think it's like six seven i think it's yeah
at least five it's so egregious that like it's a double showed somebody who didn't know what
basketball was that play they'd be like that i can't be right whatever that is feels wrong it
i like it makes me mad that people are in the nba and doing this like have you ever played
basketball before it's a it's an epidemic anyways that i had to step is a fucking travesty
i had to get that off my chest it's it's really quite something
that was really bad
it's really hard for new homo to try and not sound like i do feel very much like all the people in
those commercials try to talk to you guys about basketball i'm like in my day you know that would
that would be a great progressive commercial because you're like what why are they playing
music during the game how come he's allowed to take seven steps what's that what is a gather
i don't know what that is you must be really good at basketball so he's just not playing tonight
but but we're here we're paying for tickets
mode management tickets must be cheap right yeah yeah so he's hurt no he's healthy
what do you mean he's healthy he's not playing
it just it fills me with rage to watch that clip what have they done to my sport
oh my god it's so good yeah anyway there was a lot of like the nba's cooked tweets after
this you're like it's over i would absolutely love if this is the turning point gets people
back together we got to get back together we got to get back together we got to get back together
get this figured out guys all right 107 time today's ringer 107 is brought to you by fan duel
107 seconds on the clock are we still in first place we tied for first we're tied for first
yeah so we're in first all right here are the things that's right here are the things i like
i like green bay plus three at detroit sold wait oh shit i already said sold i didn't mean that but
we're going with it now i like i feel like everybody's overblowing the denver thing and
i kind of just want to take denver minus four and a half i'm going to take denver minus four and a half
against the cardinals i also had that i love that yeah um the other i have a teaser here which
is i have the the the texans down to four and a half against the giants and i have the raiders up
to oh my god it's the rams i wrote down the same teaser craig did you really all right i barely
know how these things work we're on the same page all right well i can't there's no if you guys both
were down what are the odds of that i should do it like that i'm not gonna argue that i was gonna
do houston lang all the points but i'm not gonna argue that i was gonna do houston lang all the points
but i was like screw it so we're just locking that in the only other things i had is kansas city
plus two and a half is a rat line i feel like everyone's gonna be on that but maybe i want it
and then the other thing i was gonna throw out that i don't think anyone's gonna have is the
eagles plus four and a half at home versus the cowboys this is you want to bet against my homes
on monday night you want to bet on no no i was gonna bet well maybe i don't know about my home
against moms on sunday football you want to bet on tanner key on monday night football
i i think we lock in denver minus four and a half um wait what do you what do you guys think
vikings uh minus six and a half against the colts another rat line i feel like everyone will be on
that but yeah in theory i'm like yeah absolutely of course that one feels too easy i talk about
things that feel wait hold on when you say the raiders in a parlor you want to do raiders getting
ten and a half yeah yeah all right uh in that case i i want to do i want to do the panthers
giving three i know what you're saying about the bucks but baker's coming back from this thumb
early and the panthers oh that's it three bets this week we'll see you next week
uh i'm down for carolina plus three or minus three
let's cook what's what's our fourth bet you want to do chiefs you want to do the eagles
just do my homes on monday night dk are you scared of the are you scared of you think the
seahawks gonna win or not uh that's not a game i would really want to bet on personally i i think
the seahawks defense is elite you don't want to have a rooting interest in the opposing team
against your seahawks
no dude wait what are the we should we take the browns over the titans
dude that game's gonna be nasty we just won't watch we'll just do a first half under browns
minus one and a half oh that was sorry that was the game i wanted to do is we can't just bet the
lions under can't wait the line's over i mean the line's over i wanted to tease that down but
all right what is it what's our fifth what are we doing we have texans raiders teaser
denver green bay carolina we need a fifth we can just figure it out later
okay oh do you think we'll remember i don't know set set a reminder not bad though we got we got
three bets in in 107 seconds not bad okay four that was really three wait so well we got the
fourth one after the gong yeah technically after the gong after the great gong today's ringer 107
is brought to you by fan duel odds subject to change okay thank you dk thank you craig

that's like one of the best songs ever okay not embarrassing enough i'm actually willing to take
this off the list if you want me to go more embarrassing i think semi-charmed life is like
one of the more like if you pull up a more embarrassing song and left it off i just think
it's kind of embarrassed i i maybe like embarrassing is not the right word we don't know about third
eye blind what what do we know people like third eye blind like what's embarrassing
you're just sitting there singing it sounds kind of earlier it's just ridiculous okay
