If I took this device right here, Jesse, and I screenshot every single thing that people sent to me, especially people who are behind the glass in this very control room over the past 24 hours, I could ruin some reputation. However, I'm a professional, and I'm not going to do that because some things deserve to remain private until someone pisses me off down the road. Sunday, September 29th, the year of our Lord, 2026. We're jam-packed. It's a happy evening for some of us. And for those of you who are suffering, and I know there are some of you out there who are suffering, it's still September, guys. Nothing can die in September, can it? We're high atop a gorgeous downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Got tons of reaction. Okay, I dressed it up as much as I can. Some of you are in trouble. Some of your teams are just straight up in trouble. Others are flourishing. The AP, however, is cooked. Well done. Throw some ketchup on it. You might as well. This may be the worst that we've had all year, and I say that a week after the previous week, which I thought was the worst of all year. The hot seat's starting to heat up already. I've got a big tour announcement. I've got stories from this past week. In fact, depending on how much of the story I want to tell, I dare say I've got a story in this show that tops any story that I've ever told in the history of this show, partly because some of the stories are a little embellished. This one's true. This one just happened. I know it's top of mind because it happened 24 hours ago. Anyway, it's jam-packed tonight. They're watching us in Daphne, Alabama, Cheyenne, Wyoming, London, England, Fort Myers, Florida. Thank you so much. Wherever you are, however you are consuming the show, I don't care. You do it on your terms. I just ask that you click that little thumbs-up button and you subscribe to the channel. And if you do that, or frankly, even if you don't do that, we're cool. But if you do it, maybe a little extra. All caps, cool. Let's dive into the show. Prez has a sunburn on half of his face to prove that we were on the field yesterday at Neyland Stadium. Knoxville, Tennessee was the site. Texas was the winner. 20-17, the final. Presented by Jimmy Johns. As the game of the week always is. You can go get yourself a barbecue brisket sandwich as early as tomorrow morning when they open. Or you can go to JimmyJohns.com or on the Jimmy Johns app. You know, some close games are classics. But not all close games are classics. That's a Meemaw quote from, I believe, 1997. No, 98. Yeah, that's right. Yesterday was probably the latter. Yesterday was a close game that gets three chalice max on the chalice rating system. And I gotta tell you, for a game of the week, for a highly ranked game, for a high-profile game day in town, bussin' and paint-on-campus-in-town type matchup, to come down to the wire and only get three chalice means it was kind of clunky. But that's okay. Not everything has to be offensively, aesthetically pleasing. It was an awesome atmosphere. Incredible day, okay? So, you know we love going to Knoxville. If I praise it anymore, we will be accused of favoritism. We already broadcast live from the state of Tennessee, two and a half hours away, in Nashville. I wish all of you could experience this place. How about the impromptu Air Force One flyover pregame, which Perez was just filming the sky for 10 minutes in anticipation. I don't even know if we wanted to show this talking to Sankey. But there we are. Yeah, I talked to Will Compton. That's who I want you to know I talked to on the field. What an atmosphere. So, the reason last week that I was kind of hesitant on which way I was going to go on the game, but I just loved under 55 and a half, totally verified. Everything about this game from, I would say after the first drive, because Texas looked kind of good on the first drive. After that first drive, there was never a threat of this thing getting into a shootout. In fact, I got to a point where I decided I'm okay with overtime. It's probably still not going over. 16 drives in this game. Jesse, this qualifies. Paper popper. 16 drives in this game combined went 15 yards or less. And if you watch the game, yes, that makes perfect sense. There were. 16 total sacks in this game. 17 if you count one of Colin Simmons' celebrations. But that's an unofficial sack. These are official recorded sacks. Most in an FBS game since at least, Jesse, at least 1995. Is this one of those things where it's kind of sketchy how far records go back? And it's kind of sketchy. Like, all the records from the mid-90s are handwritten. It's crazy. It's like looking at a log of the passengers on the Titanic they're all handwritten. That's kind of where the stats go back to. So we think, at least as far back as 95, that's the most combined sacks we've had in an FBS game. But you know what? It sounds like I'm ragging on this game. I'm not. It was a load of fun to be there. This is kind of what I want from Texas. In a strange, twisted sort of way, I don't think I want them hanging 60 every single week. Now, if I was a Texas fan, I'd love it. But I know they got talent. Talent all over the place. There are multiple ways to win a football game, is what I'm trying to say. So all joking aside, okay, let's be a serious college football show for a second. There are multiple ways to win a football game. And not every one of them has to do with your quarterback throwing for 450 yards. So there's the dream script, and then there's real life. And this was sort of a real-life football game. It can be discombobulated at times. Your quarterback can have grass stains all over him. But it may not be an elite offense right now. What it is. What it is, is it's a pretty high-level roster. I'll stop short of using the E-word this early. But it's a pretty high-level roster. And what happens when your quarterback can't do much? Because ours didn't do a whole lot yesterday. What happens when your tailbacks combine for 24 carries for 74 yards? What happens when you allow a special team score, and you lose the turnover battle, and you're in a hostile environment? What happens is your defense takes over a game. Because that happens to be one of the ways that you're, they're allowed to win a football game. And when you hold Tennessee to, held them to 221, they sacked them 10 times. They had a dozen tackles for loss. That's the answer. So the whole thing with Texas is, if you can't run the ball on the road, you're supposed to get beat. Especially if you are Texas, which means everyone has you circled, which means you come in and presumably, you take someone's best shot. Maybe if they play Tennessee later in the year, it would be a different story. They played the game that was, put on the field. They played the hand that was dealt to them, is my point. So that doesn't guarantee anything down the road. But what it does, does give you the opportunity to do is it gives you the opportunity to have yet another tool in your weaponry at your disposal. Because we said coming into the preseason, even if you think Texas is number one, even if you power rate them number one, rank them number one, whatever, you may be doing that with maybe the idea that they could grow into an elite team. They could round into form in October or November, but early on they may just have to win games defensively. This is a defensive-oriented team. I don't care how many big names they have and how much money they put in the portal. Once the games start, that doesn't matter to me. This is a team that probably has to win games defensively right now. I am, in other words, not going to sit here and wait for the week where the Arch Manning click finally happens. I've got plenty enough sample size of that dude to know who he is. And who he is is a guy who can make plays. There are going to be a couple of drives per game where he makes a couple of throws and a couple of drives. I'm standing right there watching one yesterday. I don't know exactly where it was placement on the field because I haven't gone back and actually watched the thing or charted the thing. But he made a couple of throws where you look to your left and right and go, dang, man. And then you go like 20 or 30 minutes of real time before you even raise your eyebrows again. It's very inconsistent. The physical tools are there. He himself can make plays on the ground. There's not a lot of rhythm to this offense right now. It's just, it's not that kind of team, but you've got players like Colin Simmons on the other side. So he could take over a game. It's the point. It's just not all aesthetically pleasing. Like you kind of market the game and you promote the game to be. That's not the way football games happen in a lot of cases. So good on Texas, man. They won a fist fight, basically. They got a lot of the factors they needed. If you were trying to dial up the blueprint for a Tennessee win, wouldn't you need to limit Texas on the ground? Yeah. A lot of people, myself included, that's all we talked about last week. Boy, Texas is going to be different this year on the road than they were last year. They got to be able to run the ball. They didn't run the ball that great at all. Tennessee very much limited that. Tennessee, they harassed Arch Manning, man. They got after him. Not nearly to the degree that Texas got after Faison Brandon, but that's the other part of this. You got a punt return, so you got a special team score. That's like a cherry on top. That's an added bonus. Your quarterback just wasn't ready. And that's okay because unlike some guys in this league that are in their second or third years and regressing, Faison Brandon's brand new. He's playing high school ball last year. A true freshman should struggle against Texas. Will Muschamp's coordinated defense in this league for a hundred years and rarely ever has he had this kind of skill set at his disposal. So it should be a tough day at the office. Like I said, maybe if they played round two, maybe if they met in the SEC title game in December, maybe it'll look different because maybe at that point he's got a year of experience under his belt. I'll tell you this though. What gives me a little confidence is I don't know how it looked on TV. I know like the way I like to watch a game is I'll either watch the line of scrimmage or secondary. And in the times where I'm watching the secondary, because it was too TVMA to watch the line of scrimmage, there were guys open. Jesse, did it stand out on TV how frequently Tennessee seemed to have guys open? Okay. I got a true freshman that the game's maybe moving a little fast for him. Maybe he's not hitting the guys I want him to hit. Not the craziest concept in the world. This is why they wanted Aguilar for another year and they didn't get him. This is why people like me looked in the preseason and said, I think Tennessee is going to be a handful to deal with in 2027. They could be good in 26. If they are good in 26, that's kind of a bonus. I'm not mailing in the for Tennessee. It still can be a really good team. I'm just saying none of these outcomes are all that shocking, but pass pro was horrible. So that was an annihilation. Like that was a pure takeover. That was like what you would expect Texas to do if they played 10 of 10 against an inferior opponent. Like if they played against a directional school, those were the kinds of numbers they put up yesterday. And here's the disheartening part. A lot of times it was just three and four man pressure. It wasn't even Will Muschamp, you know, going to going to page 19 and pulling the readers down and licking his chops and watch this one. Watch how exotic I get on this. No, the exotic was, am I going to go three man pressure on this or am I going to go four man pressure? Do I want to get to that quarterback before he completes his drop or do I want to let him get through one read in his progression before he's on the ground? It was tough to watch. There's a weird feeling for me on Texas. I don't know how you guys kind of felt coming out of it. I don't know how the Texas fans feel. Talked to a couple of you guys after the game. It's kind of funny. Texas and Georgia fans yesterday. They both got big wins. Georgia, you know, kind of pulled away. I'll talk about Georgia later. Texas gets a big win. But some of the fans I talked to were like, yeah, man, I'm glad we won, but still got some questions. Yeah, me too. A win is a win. It's okay to properly categorize this stuff. It's okay to, it's okay to tell the truth and be honest. A win is a win. You never apologize for it. This one was a nail biter coming into it and you didn't really quite know what to expect. And then coming out of it, it's not like you got every single question answered that you could have about this team. But remember the standard here. The standard is not, let's see if we can win double digit games this year, or let's see if we can make the playoff. The standards to win the national championship for this team, to be one of the premier contenders for the national championship this year. And if that's your standard, you're not there yet. You don't have to be in that. That's part two of that, but you're not there yet. You're watching this product right now. And you're saying, if this doesn't improve, we won't meet our standard this year. I would, I would agree with that. So the question becomes how much better can Texas get this year? Offense lacks consistency right now, lacks rhythm. Can SART do something about that? Because they're about to face some pretty good quarterbacks down the road. They didn't face a QB yesterday, nor did they face an offensive line yesterday that could make them trade points. There is a certain caliber of quarterback that college football has shown us historically cannot fully be contained. Trinidad Chambliss at his best would fit that description. I would argue in this league, Keelan Russell looks like that right now. Kamario Taylor looks like that right now. You'll face a couple of those guys. You may face one in Atlanta, like who knows what the future holds, but if Texas makes the playoff, they're going to face quarterbacks who they cannot shut down. So you're at that point during the year. How good are you? That's, that's really the question that it's okay to still leave this game thinking or feeling or whatever, whatever a question elicits. That was where we were yesterday. It was a fun day. It's fun. It's fun weekend. I'll talk about it a little bit more later in the show, but that's not what the question is after the A block in the, in the show on Sunday night. No, no, no. The question after the A block is where are you going this week? Jesse, you know, you're going to be in the A block. You're going to be in the A block. You're you know, that if all else is equal, I love going places that we've never been before and the don't tread on Saturday tour, nor the Renaissance tour, nor the every given Saturday tour, nor the once upon a Saturday tour, nor any tour that we've ever done has been to Blacksburg, Virginia for a game that changes this week. The don't tread on Saturday tour making a rare Friday night appearance in Virginia Tech for a football game. I have hinted at this for three weeks because I've had my eye on it for three weeks. And I said three weeks ago, I said to myself, self, if Pitt can remain undefeated and if Virginia Tech can remain undefeated, we could have undefeated versus undefeated Friday night in lane stadium. And I could finally get to witness the spectacle that is enter Sandman with the added bonus of James Franklin. And leading the squad out. And wouldn't you know it, we get to experience it. People call it an SEC centric show, Jesse. You know how easy it would have been to dial up Starkville? You know how easy it would have been to dial up Como for all that? I mean, I could go watch John Summerall go on the road as a short four and a half point favorite against Missouri. Austin Simmons, Aaron Fila, who needs that? We got Virginia Tech Pitt. So someone in the chat said James Franklin is a loser. James Franklin's undefeated, buddy. And you're talking about him in the live chat on a YouTube channel. So hoompsed is hoompsed here. We're looking forward to this. And the shirts, they're either already in or as of tomorrow will be in the Pate State store, the tour specific shirts at patestatematerial.com. Let's move on. Boy, we have a lot of important matters to get to. I appreciate you guys watching, whether you're watching live or you're watching the replay or whether you're listening on podcast. Thank you. Please subscribe. And Jesse's giving me a thumbs up. I assume it's not because he thinks I'm doing a good job. He wants you to like the video because Jesse gets paid per like it used to be pay-per-view. No, no, no. It's paper like now. That's not official. ChatGPT can do more than answer questions. I'd give the game two and a half chalai on the one to five scale. Sometimes I need to be reminded. You probably need to be reminded. Sometimes you lose your way a little bit. You get confused in the fog of competition. We don't want to make light of war and call football war. So in the fog of competition, sometimes some results get thrown at you. You know, like Oregon going to Oklahoma State and losing. Like USC being undefeated, ranked top 15, that sort of thing. Number one recruiting class for USC. Sometimes things get thrown in your face and it confuses you. And you forget what reality is. And what reality is, is Oregon owns USC. Dan Lanning owns Lincoln Riley. And some of us were fooled into thinking maybe that was going to change this year. But that hasn't changed. You got death, you got taxes, and you got Oregon owning USC. And those are evergreen, it appears. Those are eternal truths. And you know, the thing about Lanning, he doesn't even care. Like as a competitor, sometimes you're kind of humble in victory. And you have humility in victory because you know, man, embarrassment is only one year away. And I don't want my words to be used against me. And sometimes maybe Dan Lanning's like that. But with USC, he doesn't even care. This was Dan Lanning after the game last night talking about kids from LA. Who wins against these guys? I guess if you're interested in winning football games and you're from this area, you should go to Oregon. If you want to go to a Chris Brown concert, you should go here. There you go. There you go. You want to go to a Chris Brown concert, Jesse? Probably. You want to go win football games? You need to go to Oregon. You want to go to a Chris Brown concert? How am I supposed to push back on that? You know me. You know that I have defended Lincoln Riley and I've been alone in the room for a couple of years now. Well, I'll tell you, there's an adjustment to that room coming up. Yeah. Later. Cause we talk about winners first. So, so later in the segment, it brings me no joy. We have a good old fashioned padlock stat. Red zone. This is very easy. This jumps off the paper. Oregon was six of six for 34 points in the red zone and USC was three points. Oregon was six of six for 34 points in the red zone. Oregon was six of six for three or four for 17 points. And there were no turnovers for Oregon and there were no sacks allowed. Uh, this is pretty crazy. This is like Sarah McLaughlin, special caliber stuff. Oregon had scoring drives, ladies and gentlemen, in a game where their quarterback got knocked out, which absolutely I'm about to go in on in a game where Oregon had every reason to go into a shell offensively. They had scoring drives of 68, 75, 76, 75, 75, 75, and 49. At no point did the track skip there. They just had that many scoring drives of 75 yards. At one point, they punted the ball two times all night, 504 yards. And a chunk of that, most of that came with Dylan Raiola in the game because Dante Moore got knocked out. So that Dante Moore hit, it was one of the big stories last night. I know if you didn't see it live, you've seen the replay since then. A lot of people in the live chat are talking about sliding late, sliding period as a coaching point for quarterbacks. That's its own conversation. I'm not a QB coach. I've, I've heard the arguments against it. There is a lot of validity to it. Nevertheless, the latest on Dante Moore, for those who haven't been keeping up all day is he's out of the hospital. He flew back with the team last night. So what looked like a really, really, really scary situation where play has stopped for several minutes, a couple of commercial breaks. They bring the stretcher, they bring the ambulance out on the field. I guess all things considered it's best case scenario because he had CFR concussion, which was very apparent. He flies back with the team and he will, he is expected to be available at some point this year and they got to buy this week. So who knows? It could be as early as the next game they play. It could be a month. I don't know. And I don't frankly care because I was, I had like real, real, real concerns about his career and like just wellbeing when you saw that scene play out last night. So the scene was pathetic. I don't mind if someone wants to push back on me and say, man, Josh, the game's moving at a million miles an hour. And yes, that may have been a late hit, but it wasn't the dirtiest hit in the world. Okay. I didn't call it the dirtiest hit in the world. First off, I didn't go that route. I thought it was a well, warranted flag on the play, but if that's where it ended, it would have been okay. But Desmond Stevens didn't see fit to end it there and, uh, you know, proceeded to put on one of the most pathetic displays that you'll ever see. And I got to tell you a USC suspended him for a game earlier this afternoon. Out of all the credit people have given Dan Lanning over the years, some of the biggest credit Dan Lanning deserves, even above and beyond winning a football game last night is preventing that situation from becoming way worse than it was. Cause I'm not so sure if I was on the Oregon sideline, I was in Oregon uniform, or even if I was on Oregon staff that I wouldn't have lost all composure. And that's even if you're someone who normally exhibits good composure and ability to contain yours there. Every so often you get an incident that's so egregious. And you got a dude who for all he knows, just killed a guy and acts the way he acted afterwards. I wouldn't have minded. I would not have even raised an eyebrow if a massive brawl ensued there and you had to stop the game period. That wouldn't have been a stunner to me at all. Given the circumstances, given the chain events, a chain of events that had just unfolded. And somehow Lanning maintains his composure. His staff does. They get that team back. And not only do they do that, they keep an incident that's bad in the form of a player being injured from becoming one of the uglier scenes in college football history. And then think about the spot they're in. This draws back to the football piece of it. The spot they're in, they've already got a loss. So you could understand if their resolve was shaken a little bit early in the season. And now they're going on the road. People are questioning them. I questioned them. I questioned Oregon after you watched how shaky they were out of the gate earlier this season. And they're in there and they're down. And then their quarterback goes down. Just the psychological impact that can have on you. And then it's a really ugly scene and play has stopped for several minutes. And then their team did what a good team does. And they went and won a football game and whipped someone in their own building. That is a lot of credit to Dan Lanning. He didn't win a national title last night or a playoff game. I don't know what they'll do the rest of the way this year. But preventing that scene from becoming far uglier than it was and then finding a way and having the resolve and the mental, dare I even say testicular fortitude to win that game, that deserves a lot of credit. As for USC, you know, we were so busy asking whether Oregon was about to be this year's Penn State. They wouldn't realize this year's Penn State was right in front of us, but it was the home team. It's USC. Last night was not just a loss for them. Last night's impact will be felt well beyond just one loss in the conference standings. And it's very, very eerily similar to last year when everything was on the line and everything had been set up for Penn State and it was championship or bust for them and Oregon came in there. And it was this huge referendum game. Everyone had said James Franklin can't win big games, but this is the year we finally get through that and he gets over the hump. And Oregon came in there, got up big on him. Penn State comes from behind, but Oregon wins in overtime. What was it? It was a loss, but it was a backbreaker. And Penn State never recovered. Every bit as much stock amongst USC fans was put in this game and this season for Lincoln Riley. And what had they done? I mean, they had packed the place. They had a really big crowd there last night. They've shown impatience. He's half a decade in it. At this point, you got Oregon at home in year five. And the result is nothing's changed. In fact, the score is almost identical to last year. And you knocked their starting quarterback out of the game. And you still can't avoid getting beat by double digits. And James Franklin had that same moment last year and he never recovered. And it wouldn't surprise me at all if USC never recovers because you got to put yourself in the shoes of a USC fan. If you're there last night, that means you've continued to buy in. Okay, you've continued to check in. You've tapped in. You haven't lost faith. That right there is how apathy sets in, which is worse than fans being angry, actually. And this is the Los Angeles sports market. This is not a place where there's nothing else to do. And they're very quick to tell you there's a lot to do out there, but that's because there is. And so they got Washington coming in there this week. Imagine the scene out there. I mean, how do you expect that to look? And then they go to Penn State in a few weeks, but they've still got to play at Wisconsin. They got Ohio State. They go to Indiana. They're not the best team in Los Angeles right now. I don't care what the AP poll says. USC is the second best team in Los Angeles. And they're headed towards a date later this year, if it's not clear long before that, where that may be stamped all over everyone's forehead. Bad look, man. I don't know what impact this is going to have on Oregon. It could be a springboard effect. They got to buy here. They got everything that could be tested about them tested last night. And they answered the bell. And they got UCLA coming in there in a couple of weeks. And man, that's a massive game all of a sudden. But they've got Nebraska. They go to Illinois. They got Northwestern. And then you find out they got at Ohio State and Michigan back to back. This team can still win every game they play. I mean, that game in Columbus would be really tough to win. But this team could still be a playoff team. Absolutely could still be. They could still go to the Big Ten championship game. Don't sell too early, is my advice on Oregon. I couldn't care less if you sell on USC. I'm selling everything on USC. Jesse, I'm out. This was it. Yeah, I know. I kind of buried the lead there. I'm out. I'm out. I was way, way, way too young to have watched Cheers when it aired. But I remember watching documentaries on the show Cheers. And I remember watching like there's a big deal about the last episode of Cheers. Go ask your grandparents about it. And the dude's just standing all alone in the bar. And everyone goes home. And he's like looking around. And it's, you know, the lights out moment. And that was me last night. The Lincoln Riley fan club. Everyone's left. It's like this room right now. I'm the only one here. And I've been sitting here thinking to myself, these suckers are going to learn. Wait, man, imagine. It's just like a Noah's Ark situation. And no one's hanging around. And they're going to be banging on the door. No, no. It was a Titanic situation. It's just everyone else got in the lifeboats. And I said, I'm cool. No, I'm not. No, I'm not. And there's no door for me to lay on. I'm just going down with the ship. Actually, no, I'm jumping in. I'm going to swim for it. I'm probably still screwed, but I'm going to swim for it. So, yeah, I'm done. Lincoln Riley is not going to do it for me. I'm done. Paintsnakematerial.com. No USC merch over there? Oh, yeah, I didn't put this in the rundown, Jesse. Just roll with it. Since I sometimes forget to say this on the Sunday show, fresh off a campus where I've seen our T-shirts all over the place. Good job, Bradley. Paintsnakematerial.com is where you can get that. I say that because a couple of people walked up to me. Were you standing next to me when the guy walked up to us in Knoxville Friday and he said, where are people getting these shirts? And I said, I almost said it. I said it very sarcastically, and I shouldn't have. I said, Paintsnakematerial.com. You know, like that's eBay.com or Amazon.com. Like people just know that website. Well, Paintsnakematerial.com is where you can get a wide range of summer and now fall products. I got a pumpkin T-shirt Alex is working on that's going to blow your mind, Jesse. Let's get back to the show. Click that thumbs up button. Got a lot of people. Got thousands upon thousands watching live. Thank you so much. Florida did some unspeakable things to Pete Golding and Ole Miss yesterday. Two and a half chalai on the rating scale. Had to be a lot more than that if you're a Gators fan. In today's college football, it turns out that when you hire properly, it does not take three years to click. It just clicks right away. In Florida, hired properly, not just at head coach, but at offensive coordinator, and it's clicked right away. A classic example of that. Here's how the sport works. What you want to do is you want to go get players like Jaden Ball, and then that's only part one. Part two, use them. And John Sumrall and his office, his offensive staff walked in and said, we got to keep Jaden Ball, and they kept him. They convinced him to stay, rather. And then the second part, this is critical. Any future coaches out there, pay attention. You want to have the good players, and then you want to use the good players. So through two SEC games, he has carried the ball 26 times for 162-3, and he carried the ball 29 times for 142-3. You have really good football players. You get the ball in their hands as much as you can. I don't know what offense that's called, but it's a winning offense. That's how you win games. And here's the scary thing. It's not scary if you're a Florida fan, but I know good and well, a lot of you watched this game yesterday. There was a point where an unnamed acquaintance of mine texted me and said, oh, your over's dead. Because over 58-and-a-half was my five-unit bet of the week over on the locker room. Jesse, final score was what? 52-28? You're telling me Florida almost covered the over by themselves? It was just a matter of time. It was like if you hear the water. Here goes yet another Titanic metaphor. That is 19 of them and counting this month. But when you hear the water pressing on that glass, and Captain Smith's in there resigning himself to his fate, before it cracks and before it shatters, you know how it starts to squeak? That was the Florida offense. It started to squeak, and like there's Ole Miss at the wheel, and then all the pains shatter simultaneously, and there's nowhere to go, and then you're dead. And that was Florida offensively, and that's not the scary part. Scary though that may be. The scary part is their wide receiver trio didn't even go off. Their wide receiver trio, their big three combined for six catches and 70 yards. 74 yards. Aaron Filo missed some throws, believe it or not. He made some, but he missed some throws too. And yet, in spite of that, they hang half a hundo. They ran it for 302. They went seven for 11 on third down. They got sacked zero times. And thus the anatomy of a splattering. It was a splattering in Gainesville. That's what it was. It was a splattering. Now, it's funny because I, I woke up this morning and I had no problem telling the truth about Florida. But then I got to the gym and then I left the gym and then I went into the office today and things start to come out. And then the AP poll starts to come out. And that's a whole separate bag of issues that we'll deal with later in the show. But I noticed, Jesse, and tell me if you've noticed this at home. I'm sure Florida fans have noticed it. There is like a large chunk of the college football, public that is just hesitant to tell the truth about Florida. The truth about Florida is their ceiling is they could win the national title. They could be the best team in the SEC. That's their ceiling this year. And some people are really nervous saying that because Florida's broken your heart to let you down for so long. Buddy, it's a new day in Gainesville, Florida. So do they have questions defensively? Yeah. Yeah. Hey, the road team scored 28 yesterday. Of course, it didn't. matter because the home team hung half a hundred. So, yeah, it's not a perfect team. It's not a flawless team. But if you're watching them so far and saying, no, no, no, I still got more to see, as opposed to what? Could you point me out the other 12 teams out there that have impressed you more than the Florida Gators so far this year? They're massively ascending at quarterback. They crushed the higher on multiple fronts. Their offensive coordinator has been so good through a month that half the teams in the NFL are said to be looking at him. They've got stars at tailback, multiple stars at wide receiver. The offensive line's been way better than expected. Who has wowed you in the SEC to the point where you look at Florida and say, nah, they're good, but, I mean, come on now. Atlanta? Yes, Atlanta. Side note, it is an utter crime that the Georgia-Florida game, is being played in Atlanta this year. A total crime. But again, I'll deal with that when the time comes. So Ole Miss was in a big letdown spot, obviously. I'm not ruling it out that Ole Miss goes home, they got a bye this week, and then they get right back up on the horse and they just continue bussing on people. That could happen. It could be that we look back a month from now and that's their only loss so far and you just chalk it up as, well, I mean, that was their only loss so far. That was the game after LSU. There was no way they were going to go down there and win. Could be. I could see myself saying that. But, they got several games now where people are going to be able to score on them. They got several games and they face a wide variety of offense. Just as much as they play Missouri, they go to Texas. Buddy, that game at Oklahoma looks a little bit different than it did. But still, they got Kamario Taylor at the end of the year. We got a couple of, especially this rivalry game, that is shaping up. I don't want to get ahead of myself, Jesse. I don't want to get ahead of myself. Don't get ahead of myself. Don't do it. Don't do it. Man, the Egg Bowl. Oh, the Egg Bowl. They didn't have Ke'wan Lacy yesterday. Defense, yes, it's concerning. They're probably going to need 35 in a lot of these big games. They didn't get it yesterday. Turns out that wouldn't have won yesterday. But just, I cannot help but be impressed at the, I don't know, the shock to the senses that is the Florida Gators this year as opposed to the Lakers this year. And I remember we went down there in spring. Who was with me? Prez, were you with me in spring? Yeah, we walked in there. And like, Prez had not, had you been down there when Napier was there? Yeah, you hadn't. I had. I've watched Billy Napier practices at Florida. And you walk in and watch a summer all practice. And it's like watching a different sport happen. Like, there's still 11 on 11 out there. They're still technically doing some of the same drills you would do. I don't know how to describe it. You would have to experience it. But the feel, I guess the best way to describe it is, the best way that I could phrase it is just juiced. That's kind of how the program felt. But you go to some places, and the music's blaring, and everyone's got a bunch of energy about themselves, and it's just hype. It's just circus stuff. And guys look really good in shorts. And then they just get bold in games. That's not Florida. That's not Florida. They very, very much reflect the difference on the field this year as opposed to last year that experiencing a Florida practice this year feels like as opposed to the last few years. And Billy and JMU beat Old Dominion yesterday. So all's well that ends well for everybody involved. They're watching us in Raleigh, North Carolina. South Bend, Indiana. New York City is tuned in. Can you imagine, Jesse, the sport of college football even spreading as far as New York City? Boy, there may be some issues with this sport, but it is massively trending up. Massively trending up. The old up and to the right. That's the direction the chart is going. Hop on board if you're watching the show. I assume you already have. Let's continue the show. And like the video. If you're here already, you might as well. It's free. You can only do it once per show, but it's free. Just a little thumbs up button. Alabama scalded South Carolina last night. 49 to 18. How could you give this game anything more than 1.5 chalai? Bama's 2-0. And conference play now. Here's the important note. I know a lot of you, some of you may not have watched the game at all. Almost none of you watched it after Bama gets up, what, like 35 to 3 or something like that at halftime. You remember last year with Alabama? This is a team that went to the SEC title game. This is a team that went to the playoff. They won a playoff game. They had a first-round draft pick at quarterback, which raised some eyebrows from people when I came in here in the studio after watching them scrimmage a couple of times, including once in fall camp. And I said, this team's just way better than last year's team. That can't be. That cannot be. Yes, it can. This team's way better than last year's team. I know it's rare to lose a first-round draft pick at quarterback and upgrade at quarterback, but they lost a first-round draft pick at quarterback and upgraded at quarterback. You don't have to be disrespectful about Ty Simpson to say that. You just have to acknowledge they've got a superstar. They'll be tested a lot more than South Carolina's secondary tested them last night. But there's a lot happening that makes this year look different. So last year, they had moments where they were favored by eight and a half or so, like the game against Kentucky this year. Moments where they were favored by 12 and a half, like they were last night against South Carolina. The difference is those kinds of games were nail biters or they flat out got upset in those moments the first couple of years under DeBoer. They're getting big margin on teams. This is what potentially elite teams do. Potentially. Elite teams do. 45-17 against Kentucky. 49-18 last night. They've scored 45 or more in every game so far this year. So you wanted a fast start from them because they looked weird in first halves the last couple of weeks. Probably just weird enough to get a bunch of you to bet against them in the first half. And then what do they do? Four touchdowns on their first five drives. That's tough. Just tell the truth. I asked this about several teams in the AP poll. I asked, I asked you to do this about Florida. We're four weeks in now. You don't have to cling to preseason stuff. The truth's in front of your face. Keelan Russell is one of the, conservatively, one of the five best quarterbacks in America right now. One of the best quarterbacks in the league right now. Doesn't matter if he's a first-year starter. When you've got it, you've got it. And he was 21-27 last night. 365. Five total touchdowns. If you watch him, he looks like a third-year starter. Just kind of in the way he's calm. Just goes about his business. That's something that you can build around. That's something you can win with. They didn't even run it all that great last night. They got no Rodgers back. But they were missing a couple outside linebackers. Like, if you want to pick this performance apart, you could pick apart the run game. You could talk about the secondary. Getting bit for the second straight week at times. You could do that. I, I again, I just keep having to remind myself. And I keep having to remind other people. This is not 10-0. This is not 10 years ago. There are no dominant, like world-beater units out there anymore. That's not how it is. I think Ohio State may be the best team in the country right now. I could pick apart Ohio State. Texas is ranked number one. I could pick apart Texas. Indiana's number six in the country. And they've played nobody except Northwestern, who took them to the wire Friday night. You could pick apart everybody. So, the same is the case with Alabama. Georgia fans are irate. They're irate at their offensive lack of production. And they just skull drug Oklahoma yesterday. You could pick apart anybody. So, I could do it with Alabama. But I choose to acknowledge that, hmm, all right, there are some pieces on this team that if they continue to progress, and DeBoer's teams usually have, including last year, they could be a nightmare to deal with. We get Georgia coming there in a couple of weeks. So, we'll find out a lot about them by that point. But this week, they go to Mississippi State. So, this week, you want to talk about pay-per-view level stuff. Like, we get one of those quarterback match-ups. Keelan Russell and Kamario Taylor, man. For some reason, our friends at ESPN saw fit to throw that thing on at 11 a.m. local time. Whatever. I'm monitoring the weather closely this weekend, by the way. Closely. I know we're six days out. What a shame it would be if the broadcast comes on the air and just soaked. Torrential downpour. I'm doing what I can to prevent that. But I can only do so much. I expected so much more from South Carolina in this game. Man, I mean, I expected a fight from South Carolina. I'm dead serious I did. And I got none of that. There was no fight. Lenora Sellers was terrible most of the night. Their secondary was non-existent. Their secondary was, was so bad to the point where I have to temper what I'm thinking about Keelan Russell because a lot of what was available to him last night would be available to Mitch if he lined up at quarterback. It was really that bad. Dylan Stewart, his entire demeanor and showing was pathetic. South Carolina has suspended him indefinitely, by the way. The punch he threw after the touchdown in the end zone was like the third worst thing that I saw from him last night. So he's tapped out. He's quit on that team and it's obvious Because of the lack of response from that team towards that, that a lot of that team has tapped out too. Last night's performance was just a reflection of a team that's kind of tapped out. They get Kentucky next. I know Pete Nacos reported earlier today that the feeling around Shane Beamer is they want to wait and see until after the Kentucky game. It's run its course, which I hate, man. I love Shane Beamer. I love a lot of these dudes, but it's a bottom line business, and they're not getting the job done. So I'd be surprised if it didn't end up going that way eventually for Shane at South Carolina. Our buddy J.P. Hovey was with us over the weekend. So I know no South Carolina fan more in it to the end than J.P. Hovey, and the problem is it's the end, and he's still in it. So a couple of weeks ago, I told him what was coming from Mississippi State, and he didn't want to believe it. I feel so bad. I mean, this is like a brother. And he looked me in the eye, and he said there's no – he said these words, Jesse. There's no one I'd rather have at quarterback in this moment than the North Cellars. There's no defense I trust more than ours, and there's no coach I'd rather go to war with than Shane Beamer. Man, a lot of dynasties have fallen with people dedicated behind their leader like J.P. Hovey. So anyway, he shows up. He showed up to our live show the other night with a sign. He was ready to picket our live show, and there he is in the live show. And the problem with J.P. is he's really, really good at being one step behind me. He's been great at it. South Carolina, likewise, has been great on the field at being one step behind opponents all year. So what does he do? He begins to try and make his presence felt at the live show, and despite the fact that this kid's birthday is December 21st, I pulled the ultimate checkmate and just had the crowd sing happy birthday and make him stand in line. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear J.P. J.P. Hovey, that's the one. You're the best. J.P. Hovey, you're the best. Thank you so much. I was so proud of myself. So proud of myself. So, yeah, I called Bama a conditional contender at the beginning of the year. I don't think they're conditional anymore. I think they're a contender. We just have to caution ourselves. Their schedule was set up for this. The meat of their schedule is still ahead of them. So they're going to play Mississippi State this weekend. They're going to play Georgia. They're going to go to Tennessee. The A&M game looks a little different now at LSU. Who knows with the injury situation? But I had this team win in 10 games before the year. I had them in the playoff before the year. I haven't changed my mind on any of that. If you want to go see any of these games, SeatGeek is your ticket. Quite literally, as it turns out. You can go to SeatGeek and you can get tickets to, man, I almost said a Maryland game. You can do that. If you want to put yourself through that, go watch Maryland. More on Maryland later. Much more on Maryland later. But if you want to go watch Bama, if you want to, look, some of you could have gone and seen Arkansas. Arkansas beat Tulsa yesterday. And you could have done it at a 10% discount if you went to SeatGeek. How? Go there, select your tickets and your parking passes and whatever else it is your heart desires. I got to give this game three chalai. I'd give Kurt Ferentz five chalai. I have no idea how he did it. Jesse, I watched the game. I still don't know how he did it. Think of this headline. I got a paper pop. It's not even a stat. It's like a paper popper phrase. Offensive heroics win it at the buzzer for Iowa. Ferentz has been there since pre-Y2K. Literally. I don't know that I've ever said that. Hank Brown throwing a dime at the buzzer. We did not put this in our Iowa team preview, Jesse. We didn't now. What we did say is defensively they may be down a little bit. Who knows? Maybe the run game's not going to be there. And by the way, we were right on all accounts. It's the kind of game. I know you've all experienced this. This Iowa-Michigan ending. That's the kind of ending that after it goes off, you're numb. Even if you had no rooting interest. But especially if you're a Michigan fan. You're numb. And you slouch down in your couch. And you have terrible posture. Mouth possibly hangs open. Maybe you mouth breathe your way through it for a few minutes. The next show comes on. A lot of times it's 60 minutes if you're watching an NFL game. And you're like halfway through. A news program before you realize, oh, this game ended 30 minutes ago. I've just been sitting here in stunned silence. That's how this game ended for me. It was a bad luck special. If you watch our show, you know the bad luck stats are the ones that if you knew them before the game, it would have really fooled you as to how the rest of the game was going to go. So, if I walk up to you Saturday morning and you're outside the stadium walking in and I say, I got spoilers here. I got spoilers. In case anyone wants them, you're like, ah, I'll take a spoiler. Okay, Michigan's going to outrush Iowa today. 153 to 58. The Iowa Hawkeyes are going to run the ball 58 total yards. But that's not all Jesse. Michigan's top two wide receivers are going to combine for 12 catches, 236 yards and two touchdowns. Finally, Bryce Underwood's stat line is going to look like we want it to look 17 for 28. 276 through the air, two touchdowns, one interception. Okay, but still, if the offensive numbers look that good and Iowa's run game looks that bad, we can afford to turn the ball over once, right? Wrong. I would, I don't know. I don't know. I don't, I watched the full game. I watched the condensed game. I've got the paper in front of me. I know what I saw. I just don't know how to explain it. They just found a way. It was like watching Kudzu in the South when I was growing up. Kudzu, you're not familiar with it in Harrisburg. Kudzu finds a way. Despite everything you throw at it, it finds a way. Iowa, they couldn't even run the ball. Hank Brown just ended up being good enough at quarterback. 21 of 35. It used to take Iowa a month to throw the ball 35 times. And he had 227 through the air, two picks that throw at the end. Is the stuff of legend. They returned a kick for a touchdown. That ends up being one of the keys here. This game keeps you up, not one night, but several nights if you're Michigan. Because you're two of four in the red zone for 10 points. You got eight penalties for 75 yards. But more so than that, they had a chance. They had several chances for a kill shot here. And there was just no killer instinct. And that's all it is. That's getting lazy. Penn State did the same thing against Wisconsin. You're up big against a lethargic opponent. And you think it's okay. I mean, we got it in the bag. You can't think that way. You can't collectively operate that way. And the defense on the final drive is inexcusable. Totally inexcusable. It's the kind of thing where if you're watching the game with someone who doesn't know anything about football, those people would watch Michigan. They would watch Michigan defensively on the final drive and go, why are they playing this way? That's how easy it is to spot. So this is probably a defining moment for Michigan's season. Because moving forward, they've still got several big-time opponents. They give themselves virtually no more wiggle room right now. Penn State comes in there a couple of weeks. But look, once you lose a game like this, you sort of invalidate the thinking of, well, we can kind of look past a trip to Minnesota. We can look past a trip to Rutgers. The Michigan State game, you can chalk that up as a win. No, you can't do any of that. You can be favored in them, but you were favored yesterday. And I even bet on you. So yeah, I'm a little extra angry at this. Iowa, on the other hand, gets college game day for the first time in two decades. College game day returning to the scene of the crime that once saw Iowa take down giants like Ohio State. Well, Ohio State. Ohio State's coming in there Saturday. Jesse, remind me of the point spread on that game. I don't even think I looked at it today yet. I know Ohio State likely by double digits here. Thirteen and a half, yeah. I don't know how. That is my recap. It's the most unprofessional recap ever. I have no idea what I just watched. Let's move on to something I do understand. Georgia splattered Oklahoma yesterday. 1.5 chalai. Unwatchable. Unwatchable. Unwatchable. Unwatchable. Unwatchable. Unwatchable. Totally unwatchable, including the Norman, including the Oklahoma City Metro TV market. This had to be unwatchable. Kind of a similar vibe to South Carolina-Alabama in that it was over really, really, really quickly, except that the script was totally different. The Alabama-South Carolina game was Keelan Russell just slices them up. This game, how should I put this? I don't know that there's a respectful way to say this, so I'm just going to say it. John Mateer was a better weapon at quarterback for Georgia than Gunnar Stockton was in this game. There's the evidence. I don't know what else to say. Like, if you took the field, I'm not going to say that. That's a little disrespectful. Okay, but I'm going to stick with what I just said. Georgia had a better shot of scoring with the other dude's quarterback on the field, or the other team's quarterback on the field. If you watch the game, you know exactly what I'm talking about. A lot of you probably. didn't watch the second half. By the way, a lot of my Georgia buddies freaking out about the second half offensive inefficiency. Look, I think you've watched this game long enough to know, once this is a two-possession lead, much less a four-possession lead, game's over. I'm not saying they weren't inefficient in the second half. All I'm saying is everyone knew what the situation was. So, like, it's not the craziest thing in the world that they would come out flat in the third quarter. But Georgia played. They played the game that unfolded. So, there's a fumble return for a touchdown here. They added turnovers, Oklahoma did, that led to Georgia drives starting at the 11 and the 28. That's all they needed. Georgia, as it turns out, could have just gone out there and taken knees and been in premium position to win the game. Because that's the level of offense Oklahoma's putting on the field right now. Chris Cole is nasty. So, like, if you're going to win the game, you're going to have to win the game. If you're looking for Georgia defensive players or Georgia individuals to really start scaling up, like, Chris Cole's that guy. How many wide receivers do you think Chris Cole could outrun in this sport? Because you saw him turn it loose in the open field yesterday. I think he weighs about 240. Dude, there are a lot of receivers in this league that may trade strides with him. They wouldn't beat him in a foot race. That's incredible to watch. Maybe Talon Taylor. Maybe becoming an SEC wide receiver one. Perhaps. We'll see. Time will tell. But Oklahoma has no answers. They couldn't run the ball. Their longest carry was nine yards yesterday. Georgia struggled two years ago to run the ball. And then one of the best coaching staffs in the country said, we're not going through that again. And they didn't. Because last year, they got themselves back in the 30s in rushing numbers. And they can run the ball. Fine this year. So Oklahoma was terrible running the ball last year. And I know they dedicated a lot of time and energy to it. But there is no result that bears that out. So that's the big difference. That's why when you have the right coaching staffs, you pay them a whole lot of money. When you think you may have the right coaching staffs, I'm not sure the proper move is to extend them before you found out. And that's what Oklahoma did. Now, I don't play them. That's the Monday morning quarterback thing. Because when Roger Denny and those guys gave Venables the extension, or whatever the situation was, that may have been in the works before Denny gets there. When that happened, yes, I looked at it and thought it was strange because it's unforced. But I remember people around the program making a bigger deal about it and calling a lot of people out who called it out. And I don't hear those voices right now. As for Georgia, Oklahoma's not a factor. By the way, Bradley, give me the Oklahoma schedule right quick. How bad is this going to get for them? They're a 2-2 team right now. And they've still got to play Texas, Kentucky, at Mississippi State. They've still got to go to Florida. They've got Ole Miss. They've got A&M at home. And they go to Missouri. Jesse, if you had to guess OU's record at the end of the year, 4-8? I may go 5-7 or 6-6 at best. Yeah. A lot of folks had them in the playoff. That's the thing. This is not a product of the SEC, by the way. This is a product of just a team not being good. I know that because Michigan's not an SEC opponent. And they went up their loss to them, too. The point is, we are in an era now where you spend a lot of money on rosters and not everyone's going to be good. A&M's in the same boat right now. A&M's got 30, 40 million some odd dollars sunk into a roster that's about to go 6-6, 7-5. That's tough. But Kirby, I think Kirby Smart knows this team really well. He knows how to coach this team. He knows how to motivate. And so, I cannot wait to see what kind of form that they've rounded into. Because they have not been tested at all yet. But they will be several times. So, they're going to face Keelan Russell. They're going to face Aaron Filo. They're going to face. They're going to face Trinidad Chambliss. They're going to face Austin Simmons. I mean, I think they're going to face Lenora Sellers. I have no idea. But they'll be tested. So, we'll find out. Like, the assumption out there, which I don't have a problem with right now, is Texas and Georgia, in any given order, are still the 1 and 2 in the SEC. That's okay. But I said in the preseason, and I will double back it now, I don't think there's going to be this wide gap between 1 and 2. And then the next tier. What I thought would happen is what is happening. Georgia-Texas will be really good. But you'll have 1 or 2, maybe 3 teams join them. And that is what we're on the road to having happen right now in the SEC. It just may not end up being the teams that some people expected it to be in the preseason. Okay, we've got a lot more to get to. It's a jam-packed show. So, we've got to get a move on. I've got a ton more takeaways here. Some winners and losers. Some losers from yesterday. I mean, Mississippi State-Missouri may have been the game of the day, from what I saw. Kamario Taylor goes for 360. It comes down to the wire. Our buddy, Peter Schrager. Did you see Schrager? Multiple tweets last night about a game going down in Starkville, Mississippi. I was so proud of him. So proud of college football for putting on show after show after show. I thought SEC Network, by the way, did a really good job last night of when this game was over and they tossed to their studio, show, they still carried coverage from the stadium. So you got to watch an extended version of the post-game celebration. High-level production should be applauded when it happens, and I don't always get to see it because a lot of times I'm on the road. So maybe that's the norm for them. But I thought those guys did a really good job of talking over that scene a little bit, but letting that scene continue to play out full screen. That was a really good job. It was awesome to watch because Mississippi State folks are experiencing a whole lot of firsts right now. It hasn't felt like this in a long time there. And now they got Alabama coming in this week. Bama, I think, is a five and a half point favorite. And meanwhile, Missouri handled their last drive so egregiously. I thought that entire last drive was handled, even though Missouri had no timeouts, like they thought they had a timeout. I don't know how else to describe it. If you haven't seen it, you can't see it. If you haven't seen it, you can't You can't see it. If you haven't seen it, you can't Go back and watch the last drive. There's just several moments where it's really inexplicable stuff. It's really, I don't know, man. But they get a shot against Florida this weekend. Missouri at home against Florida. Four and a half point dog against Florida. LSU made very, very easy work of Texas A&M. So Texas A&M's basically folded up shop. Sam Levitt had a little hamstring issue. And it was, it was like Kiffin said, it was, it forced him to be a passer, which put them in the best chance to succeed. Because it turns out if you just make Sam Levitt throw the ball and focus on doing that and don't give him a constant exit door every play, he can go 17 of 23 for over 300 yards and two touchdowns. Plenty good enough. When the other guy's going 10 of 26, Marcel Reed barely tops 100 yards passing. A&M did not top 100 yards rushing. And so A&M's. I say done. Like, they're done in a sense that any kind of preseason expectations out the door, they've still got most of their schedule to go. Like, here's what I could see, though. They got a three-game stretch here. They got Arkansas. They go to Missouri. They got Citadel. Maybe they build up, maybe they package up something here. And maybe they build up a little bit of steam. But eventually, they play more good teams. So they've got several more losses coming. LSU's injury situation's not good. So Whit Weeks is out. Tredez Green is out. They've got a banged-up team right now. And they got McNeese this weekend. They go to Kentucky, Mississippi State at Auburn. It's just with an injury situation like that, none of the. Well, McNeese aside. Like, none of these games are going to be easy. None of these games are going to be gimmies. But last night was easy, and it was a gimme. Huge win for Wake Forest. Huge win for Jake Dickert and his staff. That's a well-coached team. They won 30-27 over Louisville. I'll tell you, in the preseason, the thought around sort of the industry was Wake had a good sort of out-of-nowhere year last year, and they'll be a little down this year. And they're not. They're not. Because they're really good at what they do. And conversely, Louisville in big games is really good at getting up, but they're just as good at losing these games as double-digit favorites. They do it virtually every year. And this is just another example. That's why it is so hard when you know, like, if you've watched Jeff Braum teams for a long time, you know to be careful. Just because they put forth a really good effort against a big-time team, you know you can't get carried away. Because it's not the games against the big teams you look at down the road for them. It's the games they'll be favored by 12 in, like last night. But big win, man. Jake Dickert and the coaching staff there, well-deserved. Wisconsin beat Penn State 24-20, which may shock a lot of you. Because the last time that you were aware that this game was on, which some of you weren't aware at all because it was on an app. But for those of you who checked out at 17-0, those of you who may have sent text messages at 17-0, but I'm not going to go any further than that. Yeah, this final score has got to be jarring. Many of you will remember coming into the season, I said Wisconsin's about to get smoked by Notre Dame. And I think what could happen is the same thing that happened to Glenn Jacobs in 1997. Street name Kane for the non-pro wrestling crowd out there. Glenn Jacobs was many things in the early to mid-90s in pro wrestling. But largely, he was a seven-foot-tall guy with a bunch of bad gimmicks that had done nothing. And they saddled him with another bad gimmick, an evil dentist. And that didn't work out. And as was the case back then, when your gimmick doesn't work out, the office doesn't want to take responsibility. It's your fault. So Royal Rumble's in January every year. His last appearance is there. And then he kind of disappears for months. And then he reemerges at Bad Blood 1997. I told this story before the Wisconsin-Notre Dame game because I had a theory on Wisconsin. And he reappears as Kane. Kane becomes one of the most legendary characters in the history of pro wrestling. Rest is history. And I said about Wisconsin, I think their Royal Rumble 97 is about to happen because Notre Dame is going to bump them off the radar for a long time. But I don't think this team is going to be terrible this year. I just don't think they can beat Wisconsin. They need to go away for a while. They need to find themselves. And their next shot, their shot, their Bad Blood 1997 will be against Penn State. Now, here's what I did not know when I told that story, Jesse. And this is where I need a couple of minutes. Something really, really crazy happened yesterday. We're at the Tennessee game. Secret Service walks up to me. They asked, will you come up to the president's suite for a couple of minutes? That's not the interesting part of the story. I go up there for a couple of minutes, say hello to the president. Guy taps me on the shoulder. It's Glenn Jacobs. Kane is in the suite. Not only does he tap me on the shoulder, he knows everything about us, knows everything about the show. And I am standing four or five feet from the president of the United States. At that point, couldn't care less. I start chewing Glenn Jacobs' ear off. And Jesse, I kid you not, I told him the entire Wisconsin protocol that I laid out on the show. He is laughing at every bit of it. I, at that point, start walking him through what I think could happen later that night. And he's like, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't in the Wisconsin-Penn State game. What I thought could happen ends up happening. And it just so happens that I meet the dude that we referenced for the entire first quarter of the Wisconsin season the day that the turn happens. Now, I'm not saying that this show is rigged. I'm not saying that this sport is rigged. I'm just saying if it were rigged, would you write it much different than that? So yeah, everybody else up there thought it was weird that you're in the same suite with the president, but you're over here talking to former mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. To me, he's the big red machine. He's Kane. And we had a lot of fun meeting him up there. And then I went back down to the field and we watched, we watched Texas get a win. It was a very, very memorable Saturday. So Penn State goes to Northwestern Friday night, Jesse. You, in spirit, go to Northwestern Friday night. They're open in their new stadium. I don't know if everyone's heard. Jesse, you are a two and a half point favorite. Are you going to win? Call it right now. Yes or no. Will you win? You will win. All's well. Nope. Nope. Not repeating that. Nope. Jesse has expressed supreme confidence just now in my ear. He says, don't even worry about it. Those were your words. Yeah. Double digits. Wow. Okay. We move on. Boise beats Western Michigan 32-7. I thought that there was a chance that we did like a full game reaction for this one on this Sunday night. And Boise never even let Western breathe. 32-7. They're obviously the G6 team to beat. They were coming into this game. They really are exiting this game. They're plus 175 at FanDuel to make the playoffs. They're going to make the playoffs. I have very little doubt about that. So yeah. I mean, congrats to Boise. It's just, there wasn't much to talk about here. Oklahoma State beat West Virginia 41-24. Mestemaker did what he needed to do. Caleb Hawkins did what he needed to do. They are a legit big 12 contender. Like their loss, this is going to be one of those weird things you say at the end of the year, their loss is to Tulsa. So that's not a conference game. So they're still undefeated there. Jesse, they've got the fifth best odds to win the league right now. And as soon as we get off air, I'll probably go buy some of that. Because they got an NFL quarterback. They got some big time players. They get Houston. Do they get Houston at home? They go to Houston in a couple of weeks. And look what happens November 14th. It's the crazy thing about scheduling. If you'll just let it play out, it's never quite as it appears in summer. So Texas Tech at Oklahoma State in mid-November didn't look like a whole lot at media days. It does now. So congrats to Oklahoma State. Virginia Tech had me worried last night so our trip to Blacksburg was hinging on whether they could go to Boston College and win as an 11 or 12 point favorite and then they have a nor'easter and the game's hideous and I'm driving back from Knoxville I have Savannah check the scores and she says your Virginia Tech's down 14 to 6 in the fourth quarter I'm like what and so I just assumed there goes our trip and then we stopped a quick trip this is all the true story and then she checks the scores again and she says yeah they won I said who Boston College won no Virginia Tech won 21-14 I just still don't know how to happen at that point I went back and watched it this was a hideous game I don't care they got the win and now they host Pitt this Friday night trailed 14 to 6 with 11 minutes to go in the game and somehow won it it's it's hard to pull out a game period Jesse but in a nor'easter whoops amongst Minnesota beat Washington and Washington's just whatever keep waiting on it keep waiting on it and it's just not happening I got no clue what they are they had 27 carries for 40 yards so what they're not is a team that can run the ball and then I mean PJ Flex smearing his players blood all over his face after the game last night I'm all for it I support it probably protocols against it but Minnesota was just better there's not much to say 10 point dog in the game and just go beat them building anyway Nebraska moved to 4-0 Oregon State man they were in a weird spot against Utah and Jamarcus Shepard and the boys pulled one out pretty easily down there uh Prez I assume you're aware that Kent State got a win as a favorite I think it's Ball State just favored Kent State favored those of you those three or four of you who ride with Kent State every week like Prez does you know that rarely ever happens normally it's how many points am I getting with Kent State not that pales in comparison to what I have to talk about next there was a lot of there was a lot of debate in my mind this morning about who we gave the treatment to and there's a treatment that we give on this show every Sunday night it's musical in nature I could have gone Oklahoma I could have gone USC but in the end there's only one direction I can go the Sarah McLachlan special this week takes us to College Park Maryland where the Terrapins were handled 54-3 at the hands of Bob Chesney in his first year at UCLA they got out gained 475-181 Maryland had five turnovers UCLA 24 points off those turnovers Maryland was out rushed 266-39 they were one of 15 on third down Mike Loxley in his eighth season back-to-back four and eights in a year where you gotta have it in a game where you gotta have it gets drugged by Bob Chesney who has barely moved into his new house in Los Angeles yet I have unfortunately in my possession the Maryland drive chart it goes like this punt punt punt interception punt punt field goal interception interception punt turnover on downs punt interception punt end of game and probably a whole lot more Maryland and Mike Loxley your Sarah McLachlan special show me that slate by the way the the Mike Loxley uh I don't know reality it's like really they needed last week they needed the Virginia Tech game last week is what they needed and they didn't get it and then they came into yesterday that was a one and a half point spread on this game and they get boat raced just never never a sign of life oh look at those numbers I got Maryland friends believe it or not talk to one this morning there's just there's not much to say man by the way what a scene we had in Knoxville the other night I got to tell you about our live show Bruce just a couple of minutes here so firstly Knoxville's insane but especially when you get it in mid-September after the first cold front comes through there may not be a better college town in America plus they always show up even when Tennessee's bad which they're good this year but even when they're bad they show up so first off the bus and then paid on campus show Friday afternoon we had our best crowd that we've ever had we had our best weather that we've ever had I think these people saw our Auburn show the week before and they took it as a personal challenge because the Auburn crowd was great and then Jesse would you say like we doubled or maybe tripled the audience plus Meemaw would have hated Brandon Walker the posters were out the don't tread on Saturday posters were out all of this mind you just goes out over ESPN there are people in other countries that are seeing this scratching their heads they have no clue Will Compton tried to throw some fall leaves in the air they were all still fully green it was a great scene and if you know us it made sense if you don't know us you have to know us but I'll tell you what it pays to show up live and I said that before and you guys may not believe it but several of our people showed up with varying degrees of of homemade merch of posters these guys handed me you could call it a manifesto what I what they call it is a chala of supremacy entitlement and sponsor performance agreement and I'm holding it in my hand right now could be evidence one day who knows but to me it's awesome in this thing it's a full Google brief and in this thing which looked like it took months to put together they documented patronizing every partner we have they had pictures of them owning a ram they had them eating Jimmy John's they had them at Quick Trip Academy like every single Seat Geek purchasing tickets from Seat Geek unbelievable also only the realist ones will know that we used to have a partner on the show that kind of abandoned us a little bit I never admitted that on air and these movies picked up on it anyway and they have a picture of their fridge in here let me see where it is Jesse they've got a picture of their fridge and they've got a picture I'm going to cover the name of the the brand of upside down cans of said partner I've never seen anything like it so anyway we handed them chat live supremacy Prez just happened to have a few in his book bag and so we handed him out right there on the spot which we're allowed to do because there are no rules so we get the rules then later that night our live show only the second one we've ever done our Pate State live show there at Jackson Terminal a train actually came by during the show Jesse which which I thought about getting up and going to watch out of the window because at that point we had some people on stage our live crowd is amazing we sold this thing out in what like 45 minutes or something like that and then we put another round of tickets on sale and we sold those out and in retrospect we could have just chosen a much bigger building but whatever Laura Rutledge said we had Stanford Steve dropped by game day was in town so all of our all of our friends were there Will and Taylor came by awesome show could have gone like nine hours I had to get back to the hotel to do Friday Night Lines but man some of the folks Jesse like like some of the folks showed up a little more prepared than I thought they were going to be so afterwards I had to call these dudes over uh you know maybe a few too many bald caps and white t-shirts for my comfort but it's still amazing because we don't even sell those things maybe we should but had to sign I've never signed people's heads before and now it's kind of become a routine thing sort of a tradition at our Pate State lives because I think something like this happened at the last show and not really happened at this show so many people showing up wearing our merch tons of don't tread on Saturday flags look our people are unlike any people I picture I picture Laura Rutledge walking into that environment like Hillary walking into that apartment back in the 2016 campaign just looking to get back into that campaign just looking around shell-shocked she was awesome though everyone was awesome our audience is unlike any audience out there so appreciate you guys I told you in person I'll tell you again it's just insane that we get to do what we do we get to have fun we call it a job it's not a job at all looking forward to doing more of that in the future and um who knows which town will get the next live show tough to put those on every week I would if I could but we'll see man those were happy happy moments and now we get to this the week 5 AP poll is out unfortunately it's presented by Ram I love that hit him with the truck Bradley boom you see what's in the back of that truck absolutely nothing that's where the logic is supposed to go but we have none I have brought a visual aid with me because every week I speak out about this thing and every week it just gets worse I think we need qualifiers for this I think we need qualifiers to be an AP poll voter you know Josh what kind of qualifier you need to have gone through the dare program I went through this I've never done drugs in my life because I went through the dare program I got the lion mascot they gave me the t-shirt and you ought to have passed the dare program and if you haven't I've got some helpful literature for a lot of you to read because I'm looking and I'm not liking what I'm seeing yet so uh Missouri is still ranked why a lot of you were asking today why is Missouri ranked well I'll tell you why because too many people are afraid of being wrong our buddy punt addict hit us and said how's Missouri still ranked how is Mississippi state 16th drugs to it all test them all i agree on all accounts missouri's 25th because people are afraid to admit they were wrong that's basically it hey i don't mind if you had missouri in the teens last week you were mainly going on vibes and a kansas win but that's okay it's early enough in the season if you got a power for a win more power to you but then when you get a shot against mississippi state and you're up by the way and then you operate with no timeouts in the final minute as if you have a timeout which we haven't even discussed on the show tonight and it was just mind-boggling i had a high school coach texting me saying if my offense functioned like this i would do away with my offense and i am a high school coach so missouri was 19th based on feels last week they're 25th based on drug use essentially because i don't know what on the resume constitutes them being a top 25 team josh who would you put in over them more on that in a second as for mississippi state jesse at this point what would it take for mississippi state to be a top five team do you think if they scheduled the rams this week on the road and they went to la and won by double digits do you think mississippi state would be probably top 10 yeah maybe seven top fives a stretch i will admit because it's on top fives a stretch i get it so mississippi state's at 16 after beating minnesota on the road which looks better by the moment after minnesota just went handled washington on the road last night they beat south carolina on the road they just beat missouri jesse i was reliably informed that missouri was not only ranked last week they're still ranked so even no matter which logic no matter which lane of logic you choose to traffic in here mississippi state just got a ranked win last night they've got three power four wins there are three teams that are going to be ranked last night and they're going to be ranked last night and they're going to be ranked last night and they're going to be ranked last night above them with one loss and i don't know many teams at all above them that have better resumes i know several above them that have worse resumes again mississippi state's big crime is the letters m s u that bulldog logo starkville uh non-name brand non-prestige non-legacy that's essentially their crime i am firmly convinced there are voters that still haven't watched them play what you know about them is oh they got their quarterback right that that concludes our mississippi state scouting report from an alarming number of ap voters drugs drugs that's all you can say at this point now as for missouri and who i think should be ranked ahead of them one of you did the job for me in the next tweet because you mentioned two programs james vt is james franklin we'll ask him friday won't we james vt said no duke or wait but usc is still ranked that's absurd the acc is constantly getting crapped on hey not by us where are we going to be friday jesse we're going to be in blacksburg virginia rest of the country may want to shun you the ap may want to shun you couldn't be pate state couldn't be will compton couldn't be taylor law couldn't be us but anyway you're not entirely wrong here duke should be ranked duke should have been ranked a couple of weeks ago duke should have been ranked as soon as they went to illinois and won duke absolutely should have been ranked because they've gone to illinois they've beaten two lane they've beaten stanford i know you guys some of you i don't want to paint with a broad brush may sit there and say oh but none of those teams are all that great like i said the other day if that's your resume in november no you're not a top 25 team if your biggest flex in november is well we beat illinois in two lane or or we beat stanford no that's not good enough but we're only four weeks into the season very few teams have stacked up multiple ranked wins so what we're looking for right now is have you beaten power forward teams i'll tell you we're going to get to this in a second so i'm not moving on there's a team at number six that's done hardly any of that and they're up there because of what they did last year and people are terrified of their head coach you're partially correct to feel that way but still as a voter you shouldn't think that way so duke should be ranked above missouri wake four should be ranked above missouri here's what wake's done they went to louisville and won yesterday outright what a post-game interview from jake dickert what a phenomenal just rise in the profession at least from a visibility standpoint i would strongly encourage you guys to go watch jake dickert's post-game interview after that thing yesterday he's kind of shedding light on the fact that you know there's stuff going on in your personal life when you're a head coach during a football season that you don't have proper time to dedicate to and it sucks you get paid a lot of money and that's supposedly the trade-off but you can talk to enough guys in the profession and it may be you like you may be out there you may be constantly on the road 34 weeks out of the year and you've got a sick child at home or you got family going through all kinds of things it it sucks not being there no matter how much money they pay you and jake dickert was dealing with some of that his family was dealing with some of that and man he opened up in that post-game i think quick kesnick was the one that was interviewing him so anyway i don't think his team should be ranked because i feel sorry for him i think his team should be ranked because they're they got one of the 25 best resumes in the country right now they've got one loss josh yes a competitive loss to miami that's kind of what happens when you play quality competition early in the year you may get dinged not the worst thing in the world uh the usc is on another level though like so usc is still 18th they were jesse do you remember what they were last year they were 13th last week my bad they were 13th or 12th or something like that last week anyway yeah 12th and they dropped to 18 they were top 15 based on feel and i didn't have a huge problem with that like if you think a team's going to be really good and it's only three weeks old you're going to be like oh my god i'm going to be like so no one's really got a huge resume edge yet and they've beaten like fresno or san jose state louisiana rutgers they've beaten those teams but you think they're big things to come okay have them 12th fine but then they get a shot to prove themselves and not only do they fail miserably they fail miserably against oregon's backup quarterback and they still get beat by double digits and they still get beat by double digits and they still get beat by double digits at home so it's like the the annual pantsing of usc in a prime spot happens and where do they fall jesse outside the top 25 outside the top 30 no they're 18th they're 18th why they were top 10 top 15 caliber based on feels why are they still 18th you know the answer drugs is the answer drugs is the problem in the real world drugs is the answer to explaining the ap so they got a shot they failed full stop and if they want to earn their way back in they can earn their way back in this shouldn't be a projection thing indiana's at number six huh jp um the one that's still with us not south carolina jp he and dylan stewart are off in the ether somewhere but this jp here said why is indiana so high i know you watch the game this past friday you can't tell me the teams behind them don't look better than them right now you're right i can't tell you that indiana shouldn't be number six indiana doesn't have a top 10 resume right now indiana's number six because they won the national title last year and there's some dinosaurs who vote on this thing that think you defend the national title like it's a world championship belt it's it's like if you won the title at survivor series you don't lose it until someone takes it from you at royal rumble in january or wrestlemania in april well that's not how sports work because championships are decided in a season and then you start a new season and the championship you won is in a trophy case somewhere and no one gets to take it from you nor should it be reflected at this point in the ap if you want to crown indiana or let them hold the crown in the preseason fine or maybe you ranked indiana really high because you thought this year's team would just be really good fine i did too but now we've got results not against north texas not against howard not against western kentucky they finally played a power four team so again they were top five top seven whatever based on feels which i don't have a problem with early in the year and then results started to trickle in and indiana's resume is essentially we refuse to play anyone of quality out of conference which is pathetic but that's their strategy and it kind of works for them and the moment you do face power four competition northwestern's got you up against the ropes that's not a top 10 resume right now you're telling me florida's resume is worse than indiana or that florida's looked worse than indiana have you watched keelan russell and alabama play have you watched i could go texas tech better resume i could go i could go ucla better resume jesse ucla's 23rd and they've beaten three power four teams already right so they've beaten cal they've beaten up purdue they completely splattered maryland yesterday what in the world in 2026 has indiana done to warrant even sniffing the same class of is those teams. If you think Indiana is going to be good down the road, if you think they're going to stack a bunch of big wins, might I humbly suggest you wait until they do it? Who knows? Just maybe, just maybe you may be wrong. Your expectations may be wrong. Mine may be wrong. The difference is I'm willing to start over every week when I do the commissioner's poll. Apparently some of you aren't, which brings me to my last point. It's about Florida. Florida's number eight. Reagan hit us and said, nobody inside the top 10 besides Texas has a better resume than Florida. It feels like they're still leaning on preseason ideas of teams. Yes, they are. That's all they're doing. Texas and nobody else in this top 25 has a better resume than Florida right now. I guarantee you, Jesse, if we got a representative of the AP or maybe we got like two representatives of the AP, they would sit here and they would look and they would say, well, we bumped Florida up 13 spots. That's not real logic. That's just something you say. That's bumper sticker logic. You're supposed to drive by and I read that and then it fades off in the distance. And I don't think through it critically, nor did you. You didn't bump Florida up anything. It's not real. It's just all feelings. It's not real anyway. That's not a reward. It's not like John Summerall standing in line, please. Here's 13 spot bump. Thank you. They went and disemboweled a top five team last night. They ripped Ole Miss's spine out. They hung more yardage on them than Texas and Tennessee had combined, didn't they? So I'm looking at them. I don't care where they were last week. I don't care if they were unranked last week, especially if you do this properly early in the season. There should be massive fluctuation in this thing. You should have teams jump in 15 spots left and right, fall in 20 spots left and right. In November, it shouldn't look like that. But dude, when you go on the road to Auburn and then you come home and you just house Ole Miss, an Ole Miss team that you could have made an argument should have been as high as number two last week. They were number four last week. And what you're good for is eight so that Indiana can sit at six having played nobody. So that Ohio State's five having played someone and lost. And I don't have a huge problem with Ohio State being high. I don't have a problem with Miami being high. I got a big problem with Florida behind them. So the worldview of some of these voters has been shaken and they're not ready to relent. Stop acting like losers. Stop voting like losers. That's what you need to do. There's a better way. You know what I wish, Jesse? I wish FanDuel was forced to set their odds based on AP voting. Buddy, can you imagine how much bigger the studio would be by next week? We would own every, we would just own chunks of this city. FanDuel is everywhere, obviously in Nashville, but look at those license plates. FanDuel available in all 50 states now, California, Georgia, Florida. It's great. I validated this. I was in Georgia a couple of weeks ago. We're down in Florida a fair amount. Yeah, it's there. Check it if you don't believe me. And probably if you live in those states, you may not have an account because you haven't had a reason to have one. Now you do. Like for example, I'm holding a Keelan Russell Heisman ticket right now. In fact, many of us in this building are. We could cash that thing out for a hefty price right now. Are we? No, not yet, at least. No, we are not. But you could go look at what that market looks like right now. For example, you live in Carrollton, Georgia. You could go do that if you so choose. What I choose to do is I choose to add two bets to the Ramen Noodle Express tonight. The Ramen Noodle Express, I thought we deserved better last week. We finished one game above below 500. We are still well above 500 on the season. But it is a new week. I see no reason why we can't go undefeated this week. So I'm adding two of them. The model is really flashing value on two teams here. One of them paid off for us handsomely last night. So the first team is Michigan State plus 10.5. They're playing Wisconsin. We are going to take them. It's a big do-down spot for Wisconsin. Not to mention we still think Michigan State's a little undervalued in the market. Secondly, big undervalued team, Cincinnati plus 7.5. It was our last week. It was our favorite bet last week. They ended up winning outright as a six and a half point dog. Easy money does not exist. If it did, Cincinnati was easy money, but it doesn't exist. So they weren't. Cincinnati plus 7.5, Michigan State plus 10.5. Early best bets. More to come this week. Thank you so much for watching the show. All we ask, in addition to viewership, we don't demand it, we ask it, is for you to like the video, that little thumbs up button, and subscribe to the channel because those sorts of things, because you do it so frequently, mean that we don't have to do a whole bunch of other stuff that people have to do for money. That sounds dirty. It's not. I just mean we don't have to have affiliations we don't want to have. That still sounds dirty. You know what? Appreciate you guys so much. For Director Bradley, for Producer Jesse, I'm Josh Pate. We'll be back Tuesday night to look at the full week five slate. Until then, God bless. We'll be right back. We'll be right back.
