could be facing here so West Virginia has Oklahoma State this weekend I believe that's a a game a point and a half spread uh either way but let's say West Virginia wins that game they're 4-0 4-0 then they're at Iowa State Arizona Cincy at home at TCU they win this weekend against Oklahoma State 8-0 is very very very very very much on the table for West Virginia at Iowa State it's a tricky place to play they've already beaten Virginia on the road they could beat Iowa State on the road Zona and Cincy at home they're going to be favored in both of those games and then at TCU that one could go either way but still 7-1 8-0 for West Virginia right here and my last team is a team that already has a loss just keep an eye on the Baylor Bears I I know it sounds weird the three and one they have Colorado this weekend they're going to beat them by three touchdowns then they're at Arizona State TCU at Kansas UCF Iowa State they go four and one of that they could be they could be seven and two and in about five or six weeks they maybe could be eight and one like this is a team they lost uh on the on the goal line to Auburn SEC school they didn't look all that impressive they're gonna be four and one after this week I think Baylor's a little bit better than people are giving them credit for they lost in week one so people threw them on the trash pile I think Baylor's somebody to focus time I think these are the four teams that I think nobody's talking about I think I think Duke has gotten a little respect talked about Duke so much last year they banned me from talking about them should be watching if I'm if I'm looking through this whole schedule this whole slate I'm gonna cheat a little bit because I'm gonna say four or five players I think players to watch you have to focus on the quarterbacks in Knoxville you have to focus on Arch Manning who was bad on the road last year they were they were what two and three on the road and those two wins were overtime over a terrible Kentucky and overtime over a terrible Mississippi State otherwise they lost to Florida by eight points who so bad they fired their coach they lost to Georgia by a thousand they lost Ohio State to open the season Arch Manning was never good on the road now two weeks after his biggest win yet he has to go on the road to 108 000 crazy people in Knoxville and on the other side you have a true freshman facing a nasty defense in his first job a gigantic test the quarterbacks tell the tale of this game Tennessee Texas Liam what do you think yeah I mean Faison Brandon is my offensive player to watch this week I want to see how easy Josh Heupel makes this on him how comfortable he could get him quickly uh that fast and ferocious Texas defense against the shakiest Tennessee offensive line who Big T tells me center and right guard are soft spots in that five and then how much time possession could Tennessee control how much how much clock can they eat how much can they shorten this game I think it's going to be lower scoring ideally you'd want Tennessee if if you are Tennessee you'd want to run the ball very good running back down there Bishop right they they uh they're very good running back and you you'd want to run the ball shorten the game a little bit and and help your freshman uh quarterback out I just don't know if that option's on the table I don't know if you're going to establish the run and and and run it down Texas's side I think you're gonna have to keep them honest and stretch the field so Faison Brandon doesn't have the luxury of getting eased into the pool on this one and Arch it's time for Arch to take this show on the road and and have that offense you know stand out in the SEC go go lay 30 on somebody go lay 40 on somebody it's time you're a red shirt Junior like it is time to go out there and do the damn thing and and and be a dominant force in the SEC on the road he has not done that yet so uh this weekend uh bring back the early slate up again because uh I actually have my upset alert in this window as well and it's the game on the right there now UCLA isn't ranked but UCLA I think has been one of the more impressive teams that aren't right it is can I just say it's absolutely ludicrous UCLA's not ranked they're one of the teams that should be in there that that being said you see what was that and like all I do is fight for Mississippi State probably more than you do I have more confidence in your team than you no I mean you did just we're gonna lose apparently in Maryland sick cool so no that that's now you're being the emotional fan that we fight against all the time now you're being when I say upset alert I am not saying this team is going to go out there and get embarrassed or killed what I am saying is early start three thousand miles from home hasn't shown anything like like Maryland is over there Maryland has a good quarterback like Maryland is sitting at home welcoming in a team their body clock's going to be off like everything about this recipe stinks for UCLA UCLA has a better coach they're a better team they're a better everything just get on that plane with your upset alert flag up that's all I'm saying is that fair yeah that's fair and it felt really good to be that emotional whiny fan right there with against Brant Walker that felt sick um I got I got two notes for this game Brando two notes one there's been a few rumors a little stirring of the pot here that if Maryland loses it Mike locks Lee's either gone right away or in the very imminent future which begs the question why didn't it happen last winter that makes zero sense yeah I don't have any sympathy for these teams that in September are at these crossroads where if we lose we're firing our coach if you're that if you were that close to it coming in the season you were cowards for not pulling this rigor last year if you were because in this day and age of college football things can change so fast and you can rebuild your team so fast you are doing your fan base a disservice if you wait longer than you should to to make a change at coach that is what I feel about that I completely agreed the second one is just the UCLA Russian game success those improbable just mind-bending stats that through three games they have 14 rushing touchdowns which completely out totals what they were able to do rushing touchdown wise going to set the over under i haven't watched it back on jeff collins calling me coach tonight 17 and a half times and i think the over it's one of my favorite things that happens this is always i spent 15 years uh covering high school sports and college sports and being in locker rooms and talking to coaches and it's one of my favorite quirks of coaches because they call in the season especially they call everybody coach because they're at the facility 12 14 16 hours a day the only people that come in the room are other coaches they just call each that's all they call each other as coach just coach coach coach coach coach i can't tell you how many times i've been on the end of a phone line calling the franklinton high school coach football coach and be like hey what do you think about uh your game at laranger this weekend he's like let me tell you something coach i love it i love i love i love when coaches call you coach and uh and jeff collins does it 35 times tonight what is the equivalent to that in our world if we were to start talking to other people well so us i don't know but i do you think there's doctors in the world that just call everybody doctor that's the only other that hey what's up doc that well that's the only other profession where i think they might do it where like that he's just you know let me tell you but like you're not cops aren't calling other decent games there in the middle i believe now western michigan boise i don't know if that's in that slate or in the in the evening anyway um i want to talk about michigan first i know it's second on that list and i got the thing with dave i do the thing with dave and michigan is obviously they they lost to western michigan uh but you know technically they are technically viewed as three and oh right now their defense has been lights out it probably destroyed john matier's oklahoma career if we're being honest like everything up to that point he had a corner he could turn and then michigan just stopped it and he's probably done and now they face an iowa team and their mirror image is a mirror image of them and they're going to have to face each other i feel like quietly michigan just took the eye of a formula over the last three or four years and ran it to perfection and showed you actually can win with it uh you know get you a couple of good tight ends get you a great defensive line a couple of good running backs and and go to war with everybody and that's that feels like michigan football right now it feels like iowa football it's going to be ugly it's going to be nasty but somebody's coming out of this a playoff contender who do you think it is the first team the 17. assuming somebody gets to 17 i i legacy on the line one of these teams will score 17 i i don't know if it happens with bryce underwood and how much they're able to utilize his legs i don't know if the iowa offense is able to do it because john henry daily who hates i hope dave hasn't called him john daily he hates being called john daily you gotta call him john henry daily or henry daily or vanilla gorilla if he's able to get past this elite offense he's going to have to iowa offensive line but then like iowa has that wider sea where they've talked about so much tony diaz he loves going up against man coverage guess what michigan plays a ton of man coverage so you can call me john henry daily henry daily or vanilla gorilla that's his stance yeah i can't call him john daily he gets really don't call him john daily okay okay um i do it maybe once a year once a year i'll wake up on saturday and i'll find the no touchdown bet on draft kings for a game i am doing it i am doing it this year because i'm doing it this week there's a very strong possibility you're watching as iowa has the ball down six three with three and a half minutes to go in the fourth quarter i think that is a very a very possible scenario here i don't know what the weather is i think it'll be fine it seems like it's gonna be fine here through the weekend and michigan's not all that far away uh but i don't think it matters they like michigan and iowa football can play a mud game in 78 degree weather and i don't think it matters they can play a mud game in 78 degree weather with clear skies that's just how they play football um back to the uh back to the um graphic please omiss florida now this is maybe the most eye-opening game i've seen in a very very long time other i guess michigan oklahoma when michigan had lost western michigan oklahoma we thought was going to be great and michigan was like what was it five and a half three and a half i don't remember what it was but it was obviously the the odds makers like michigan or vegas loves florida vegas loves florida and i i keep coming up with three reasons one of the reasons is florida is vegas thinks florida is very very good the other reason vegas doesn't think omiss or lsu either are all that much ahead of anybody else in the sec or maybe vegas believes very strongly in the letdown spot for uh for omiss or the last option vegas is just wrong and that's rare so i look at florida like an lsu offense that was uh a deer in headlights for for a whole half the other night their quarterback missed a bunch of opportunities there were wide open receivers everywhere he just missed them i think florida is going to be much better coached and much more calm in this scenario than lsu was what do you think about this fucking game damn game dang game this darn game this darn game i beat myself up today because i couldn't think of how to word this correctly on the college i was looking for was just a victim so i'm not going to use that word i'm going to go with this florida is undervalued florida is the biggest factor of preseason polls. They're a top 12 team. They weren't ranked to start the year. So we've got to throw them in at the end where they're like 21st or whatever and act like we're giving them respect. Act like we know that we're good. No, no, no, no. If you watch ball, you know what's going on. The Florida teams of the past mean nothing. This floor team is legit at quarterback at running back at offensive line. They've got a great playmaker receiver in VB three and their defense is legit. They've got great addressers. They've got great secondary. Florida's just undervalued. When Florida opened at minus one and a half, it caught everyone's by surprise. Not me, not you, not guys like big cat guys who know ball guys who gamble guys who understand the sport. Florida was always going to be favorite. And that number got bad up to three and a half right away because sharks in the water, the sharps that hunt lines that open pounced on Florida for good reason. You could talk all you want about the Ole Miss emotional letdown spot. And that makes sense. But we're talking about what? Ole Miss is top 18 floors, the top 12 team, three and a half makes complete sense. Florida's going to run with this. In my honest opinion, it's also going to be as, as, as crazy. I know last week at Ole Miss is the craziest to building key at the sec, but this isn't going to be that far off because Florida's fan base has been desperate for four or five, six years now. They nourished and their biggest game last week, their big win was on the road. This is the first gigantic game they've had to go to, or they've gotten to go to in half a decade. They are starving. They are hungry. They are ready. They're thirsty for their Gators to beat a big time team. And, uh, we'll see time. We'll tell if either of these are big time teams, but I don't know how you can bet Ole Miss in this scenario, just because all of, all of the evidence in Vegas, so heavily in the corner of Florida, that that's all I got to say about that. Um, although I will say it's very interesting to me that when Sig got to, uh, Indiana and when all these other coaches get to certain places, um, there's so much transfer portal upheaval and, and there, there's so much, uh, bringing their own guys in and there's so much change. This is kind of the same team they were last year outside of Philo, the quarterback. Like I know they brought in Singleton or receiver. They, who hasn't really played yet. They brought in a Philo, the quarterback, but like Jaden ball was there. The defense, most of the defense was there. Um, the receivers for, for the most part were there. Like most of this team was already there. That just shows you how terrible that coaching staff was. This is the first time they've legitimately been coached in a while. Bring the graphic back up so I can see what, and then Oklahoma, Georgia, Liam, I said, UCLA, Maryland, would it be crazy to flag Georgia here as a potential upset alert? I, I, I think Georgia's going to kill him. I do think Georgia's going to kill him. But when you get a team with a talent profile of Oklahoma, don't you think they've spent two weeks? How shitty they are and how embarrassing they are and how terrible they are. They did go on the road last year and went to Alabama. Now this Georgia team is better than that Alabama team, but like they've taken their defensive act on the road before and bounce back. Is it possible? Is it possible they can give Georgia a run here? Yeah, it's possible. Do I think it's going to happen? No. On my notes, I wrote down two things for this game because I'm so unenthused by it. One, will the Georgia, help John Mateer find receivers open downfield? I would assume, I would assume they might get there if it's 38, nothing and they do it to try and help them out and they're doing an injuring manner. And two, how much practice will Georgia get in on the sidelines during this game? I don't think that this will be all that competitive from a, a scoring standpoint. I, I don't think Oklahoma could score on Georgia. If the final score is like 24, 10, so be it. I understand that Georgia, it is far and away better than this team. They aren't in the same galaxy. Unfortunately, now that I say is, it seems like a thing that's going to get clipped and it was going to, yeah, no, it just, every, every, every piece of evidence points towards Georgia blowing this team out and Georgia hasn't even had to play a real game yet. They've just been bored. They're, they're doing drills against each other at Arkansas and Gunner Stockton. I know he's good. I don't have to guess. Will Gunner Stockton be good? He's good. Uh, probably the most underrated quarterback in the country. Uh, so he's just been waiting to, to show off. What do you throw the ball? Nine times last week. So nothing says Oklahoma can compete in this game, which watch them compete in this game. That's the crazy part of college football. Uh, so real quick, let me talk about Ryobi. Um, somebody, Oh, Mule Zilla says Athens is a terrible college town to Athens is top three college town. I think it's Athens, Madison, and then, uh, you throw in whatever you want. I, Athens is such an amazing, I thought the best college football town I've ever been to on a game day was Athens. I went and I've been in a couple of times now, three times, actually, um, but just the, I know everybody else has tailgating. The Athens bars are just laid out in a street to street, to street, to street manner. It goes street, street, street, street, bar, bar, bar, bar stadium. And all the tailgating kind of happens there. And all the windows and doors are open and you float in and out of the bars and you've just floated in and out of the people. And it's, it's amazing. It is an amazing, amazing place. All right, let's do the third, um, the third slate there. And this is where you have the game of the week. The game of the week is Oregon USC. And I've had some, uh, some SEC fans pop in my mention saying, this is a game of the week. Uh, yeah, it is because this is a playoff game. And this is a prove yourself game for five years. Lincoln Riley has wallowed away in mediocrity out there at USC. And for five years, every time they get to a chance, they can turn the corner. The win and make a statement. They don't do it. And Oregon put themselves into a corner this year when they lost to Oklahoma state and came out looking so bad against Boise state. Now the team that everybody thought was a national title contender, a playoff team, all these things, they made the playoff last two years. Now this team is facing their own mortality. How do they respond? They got to go on the road. If Oregon wins this game, they're right back in the mix, right back. Everything they thought was possible is possible. Again, if they lose this game, it's over O V E R over. And all of a sudden all that high price talent starts looking at quitting. That's what Oregon's face. So it's, it's a remarkably big game. I think Oregon goes in there and kind of thumps them. I really think Oregon puts it back together and realizes that they've just kind of been walking in quicksand and they get right in this game. Do you have that sense? I think it's going to be a shootout. I think this comes down to which defense gets a key stop in the second half. That's going to be a whole bunch of holding, holding serve for, for a tennis term of it. I just want to see the Oregon defensive line that we talked so much about going into this season. If they could get after JMI off and rake some havoc and force some bad errant throws to create turnovers. I want to see the young guys in this game. There is so much young talent on both sides of the ball, not just in receiver room, all everywhere. You look, there is young future NFL talent. It's going to be a blast to watch Brando. I hope both teams score 40 plus. I want to see the Oregon quarterback. Everybody told me existed, you know, coming into the season and the off season, I was like, you know, I don't see it with Dante more. I think he's missing something. I don't know what it is. I can't quite put my finger on it, but when the competition gets good, he's not good. And then McShay told me, you know, Andy Staples told me and all these guys told me, no, no, no, no, no. Nobody makes better NFL throws than him. If he came out last year, it would have been the number one pick. And I still haven't seen it this year. So where is it? Does it show up this week? Dante Moore is another one that's on my players to watch list. It's time, dude. It's time. Go out there and affect the fucking game. Go out there and win the damn game and put your team back in the mix, back in the map, back in with a chance to go to the playoff later and fucking win a game that's on the road. And that's big for your team. That's what I think. What else do we have with, uh, let me see the, uh, the slate again. And then we have Missouri, Mississippi state. I will be terrified every single week. Every time we play, we're playing big games. If we win this game, Mississippi State, we will be 4-0 with Alabama coming in next week. I have a lot of respect for Missouri. I think Drink does a great job. I don't think anybody nationally has been as high on Missouri over the last five years as I have. I have been way big on Missouri before everybody. I saw their 10-2 breakout coming a couple of years ago. So I'm big on Missouri. I'm big on Drink. But I'm big on us this year too, and I think Camario, things are special. Things are special happening down in Starkville right now, and I'm very excited about this game. I think if you're a neutral observer, you're going to see a lot of quarterback talent and a lot of points in this game. That's what I think about Missouri and Mississippi State. And then Texas A&M-LSU, it's another lose-and-you're-dead game. I personally think LSU is very much alive and will get off the mat, and Texas A&M will be officially dead come Saturday night. Thoughts on this night's slate, Liam Blutman? I will continue to say it about Mississippi State. This is another game I expect them to win. Maybe not comfortably, but convincingly. I need to echo this time and time again and make this clear. Mississippi State, in more games than people realize, will have the best player on the field when the Mississippi State offense is on the field, and Camario Taylor, and when the Mississippi State defense is on the field and the opposing team's offense is on the field, they still have the best player on the field in most of their games because of Kelly Jones, who's going to be a first-round pick. Mississippi State is so much more talented than just Camario, and people need to understand that. I think Fluff Bothwell is going to go crazy in this game, and then my other note is just how many times does Austin Simmons target Kelly Jones? For the A&M-LSU game, I mean, this just comes down to Marcel Reed, dude. Is LSU going to make this kid make big throws? Are they going to let him run wild like they did a few years ago under a different coaching staff? There ain't no way. Sam Leavitt, can you read a book? Can you read a children's book genuinely? Because you look at your first receiver, and then you're already off and running. Progress through your reads if you're serious about playing football, especially at the next level. Show me something, bud. I think LSU kills A&M. Dude's a hungry Caterpillar quarterback, both of them in that game. I think he absolutely kills. I just don't see it with A&M, man. I don't see it. Where is it? Does the defense make you scared? No. Does the defensive line scare you? No. Does the offensive line scare you? No. Is the receiver good at receiver, but does the receiver scare you outside of him? No. Does the running back scare you? No. So where is it? With LSU, I can at least tell you they fought back valiantly and made that a tie game last week in the fourth quarter. They showed they could go on the road and at least get off the mat, and they showed talent to compete with a top-ten team. A&M doesn't have that talent to compete with a top-ten team. I think LSU kills them. That's what I think. What did we not mention? I didn't do my cover-your-eyes game of the week. I actually meant this in a positive way. But the cover-your-eyes game of the week for me is Iowa-Michigan. Now, again, it's two 3-0 teams and two teams that will be, you know, whoever wins is a playoff contender. But still, it's going to be ugly and nasty, and it's going to set football back 40 years. Cover your eyes and just kind of take it in, but it's going to be gross. You have one? vanderbilt um town is it's because i don't i come from the place everybody answers with they always say start we'll start we'll start well they've never been to start we'll start was amazing uh so i really don't ever shit on sec towns because i the i don't know the answer to that question but the worst stadium is uh vanderbilt how about when you guys were playing greg on the yak the other week and he was a mizzou yeah that looked that looked post-apocalyptic that looked awful that nobody was there it was just weird it was so gloomy can i tell you tuscaloosa isn't a great town um yeah i want to get to auburn bad auburn's good auburn's auburn's a much better town than tuscaloosa uh auburn's a very good town athens great town oxford good town um i've been fayetteville fayetteville fayetteville surprisingly a good town gainesville's not a great town it just doesn't gainesville doesn't have the college feel like i can't explain it like the others it it it feels like you're in a walmart parking lot but you get on campus it's amazing and and the swamp is probably maybe the best stadium it's it's up there with tiger stadium anyway i got jeff collins waiting down here so what am down he does a lot of film breakdowns that teaches you a lot about football i don't have time to watch it but you guys should so anyway coach welcome welcome back to the show man i appreciate it and that your little sales pitch last week the numbers on that show spiked so i appreciate that i know you've coached uh you've coached in the sec the acc you've coached all over uh how have you dealt with this this new newfound fame over the last couple of years i've had a lot of fun and i've had a lot of fun over the last week once i had you on my show is is everything skyrocketing my my daughter thinks i'm cool now you know like being a head coach in the acc and you know being a dc in the sec whatever but i was on the brandon walker show she's running around telling all our buddies so i'm a big deal right now agreed agreed you're probably on some lists now um so uh here's my question i have six questions we'll see how many we get to because i'm respective of your time uh ole miss in florida in a huge game this week 230 there in the swamp uh florida favored by three and a half points which suggests to me a couple of things either vegas is uh pronosticating a big letdown spot for ole miss vegas really loves florida or vegas thinks lsu or ole miss aren't all that good i'm going to go with the first one and say they're projecting a big time emotional letdown spot you've coached a lot of young men through a lot of years how tough is it coaching these spots and to get them going again one week after what we saw last saturday night in oxford so interestingly 2015 ole miss had beaten alabama number one team in the country on the road huge win for ole miss then they rolled into the swamp the very next week and brandon we whipped that ass like 38 to 3 they got a late touchdown uh against my threes whatever um that it is real right it is a real effect now i do think that pete golding the way he had the mindset of that team last weekend because they could have lost their minds with the way the fans were the hatred all those kind of things and they're not going to do that so that says to me that pete golding has the pulse of the team is able to get them to focus on one play at a time all of those things but these are still 18 to 22 year old kids that probably had the time of their lives in oxford last saturday night after the win so it'll be it'll be interesting you know it's gonna be uh three o'clock game too yeah it is very very interesting and the fact that you know we're kind of discounting it before but if florida just comes thumps them maybe florida's just better maybe it's not an emotional letdown spot because the florida gators went to auburn last week you've been to auburn you know that's not a fun that's not a fun building that's not a fun environment and summer all was on this show the other day it's like yeah actually that environment we handled it pretty good i wasn't really worried about it so uh but but i gotta speaking of the road games in the sec i got another one so last year i'm gonna give you a list last year arch manning and texas went on the road i believe five times okay they lost 14 to 7 to ohio state no shame in that great team they got their titties ripped off uh at georgia no shame in that very good team right they won in overtime against a bad kentucky team that fired their coach right they won in overtime against a bad mississippi state team who was a year away from being decent and they lost 29 21 to a florida team that was so bad they fired their coach that's five road games 0 for 5 and showing up and showing out last year for texas now this year after the big emotional win over ohio state a couple weeks ago they go on the road to knoxville 8 000 people how do you do do you they were bad on the road last year do you think it's fixed do you think we should be worried about that for texas well i think the the neyland stadium thing i've coached in at one time yeah and it is quite literally like going into a roman gladiator coliseum that's a good way to put it up coach i got in that game i was the dc at florida i literally i've never had vertigo a day of my life i got vertigo because it's just a vertical mind mess you know i was about to say that f word but and they pipe in noise under the bench coach if they don't have that thing fixed the road woes yeah and then brandon i don't know if you've ever been in that visiting locker room coach i've coached division three ball one double a ball it is the worst visiting locker room in college football also an early start like it's a it's a it'll be noon eastern time but you know body clock for texas you know 11 a.m it's it's it's a scary scary spot now tennessee does have a freshman quarterback over there and you got all that but you you're right when neiland is real different from every because alabama georgia all these great places you get in there and you you can kind of get used to them they feel a little bit the same tennessee is just it's like a wall it's straight up four walls around you and you feel like you're in the only place on earth like no other place exists other than this orange hellscape that you're in and then too they're doing that checkerboard thing coach that's going to be like some 3d anime uh experience for these dudes i mean it's so the the the thing that i do think they do have going for him a will must champ but will has been in that stadium so many times so i know will's going to make sure they understand all of the things that they're about to have to deal with on both sides of the ball he will make sure that is communicated because it's different my only concern i i believe that texas defense is going to show up and be very good it's just i gotta see that offense i gotta see arch go out there and command a team on the road i i gotta see him go out there and shut up a hundred thousand people i'm not sure i've ever seen him do it but i'm not sure i've ever seen him do it but i'm not sure i've ever seen him do it before now it's it's a it's a tough task i mean that's a lot to ask a guy but he's he's the five star recruit who wants to win the heisman be the number one pick so that's i don't have to do it i'm 47 um in the in the fourth quarter against ohio state he just dropped his nuts and played football he did i think that against utsa he kind of went back to playing a little close to the vest worrying about fundamentals technique which you need to do i guess but sometimes you just got to and have some fun yeah i think that's when he really plays his best if he can do that in neyland stadium they'll have a day but if he's playing within himself it's it's going to be interesting receivers got to go out and catch that ball too um i want to ask about a guy i talked to coaches around the country and this this offensive coordinator of florida seems to be absolutely one of the rages in around the country right now they love buster faulkner buster faulkner at florida is doing some things they got good quarterback play they got jayden ball who's running the ball you know they got a great receiver room but this faulkner man like coaches rave about him uh are you familiar with him and and do you rave about him too what do you think about buster faulkner okay so i'll plug the coach colin show real quick on youtube brandon i've had four episodes yeah in two of the episodes i've done 15 minute segments on buster faulkner and what makes him special and i did watch your uh interview with john sumrall dude he's dude right of uh you know sumrall and then faulkner here's the thing the thing that florida has to do a against Ole Miss defense. Because Ole Miss defense can run side to side with anybody in America. They're fast. But Buster is going to be able to run powers in the A-gap, counters that attack the A-gap. They're going to run number 13 with Jaden Ball. Jaden Ball, yeah. Coach, they're going to line up in the pistol and just go downhill smash mouth. And they have to do that. And they will do that. And I think that gives them an advantage in this game. But Buster Fulton or Brandon, Coach, he is a rock star. Yeah, so LSU, I felt like LSU left a lot of open plays out there. The quarterback either tucked in a run a little bit too quick, especially in the first half. I thought Lane had some open concepts, open receivers, and the quarterback didn't really get there. They couldn't really block him. Now, they couldn't really run it either. And Florida's going to be able to do all those things and be at home. It's a fascinating game because Trinidad Chambliss became, he was already a star, but became even more of a star on Saturday night. Now he has to go on the road to a team. it's they're looking to come back to the top of college football it's a fascinating game um you look around the country and i'm going to name some defenses the michigan defense has been lights out so far the oklahoma defense even though they lost the game has been lights out so far the georgia defense hasn't had they're running drills on the on the field at arkansas because they don't have anybody to play um you the texas defense and on and on i'm not trying to disrespect any team by not having their defense here uh but there's some great defenses in this country have you had enough time to educate yourself if i asked you the best defense in the country who would you answer so the first one and i did a breakdown this week is georgia's defense the the skill set that they have the length the speed uh the aggressiveness the violence uh fundamentals technique even between quarters they're working on that um it is it is impressive how they play the game of football um and just knowing kirby as long as i've known him 19 years and i think glenn schumann andrew thacker trey scott that whole defense of staff they work so well with those players and there's a play that i post today brandon now it's only 40 seconds so you can watch that i posted a 40 second play i watch your stuff i watch i love you but 40 it is coach it should have been a huge explosive play for arkansas in front of 12 fans but georgia had it be a tackle for loss instead of a 30-yard game okay so i'm anxious to see this i said this on my show the other day i don't know how many people were closely watching that game i know you've gone back and watched it i thought through the first couple of drives i really felt sorry for the arkansas offensive coordinator because i thought he drew up some shit that was like oh wow that's pretty good and then you would see georgia with a five-star absolute beast of a linebacker snuff it out and then the arkansas you know three-star guy who's out there busting his ass but like couldn't quite make the play like if the talent was equal there were plays there the one play that i remember i don't know if it's third and two or second two or something like that they threw a three-star linebacker and then they threw a three-star they threw a tight end screen where they made it look like a screen to the to the tailback they made it look like a screen over here and you know i guess you you teach your defensive players when they get the free release realize it's a screen find the halfback yeah and and and they did that and then he throws it back to the tight end the tight end has acres and acres and acres of room he turns to run up field and here comes a six foot three 245 pound man beast that stops it on his own is that the play you were talking about no different play but that that's equally so the one i've got is they crack the guy that's got man to man on the running back sure and they pull two offensive linemen and they're out in space on a look well he's not little but on a db yeah and it's going on paper for 30 yards coach this db comes on blows it up four yards in the backfield and these 350 pounders that are running at the quarterback coach that that ball gets dropped to the running back coach that ball gets dropped to the running back coach that ball gets dropped to that stick their feet in the ground and run and come in and get a coach it's the sexiest shit you ever seen coach i know i know you i know you gave a lot of credit to schumann and those defensive coaches and that's great and that's fantastic and they deserve it they're great coaches but like there's some scary ass dudes on that on that georgia defense and they haven't they haven't had to be released yet like they haven't and i know last year they lost a couple games was because all they were all young oh my god there's guys that are going to become i what's his name cole is it chris cole i i don't i'll have to look up the name i i had it the other day i'm anyway let me get to other teams we're gushing about georgia's defense that makes me sick um are oregon's problems fixable oregon has a big game this week against usc they obviously came out and beat a tomato can last week 84 nothing made themselves feel better get back on the right uh you know train a line of thinking or whatever are their problems fixable can they put this back together i hope so because i think the world of dan lanning um and i hope that they are but this this matchup you know i want to talk about some west coast football but the whole time i've just been able to talk about sec because that's where the real ball is so i want this to be a good game both of these coaches and really both of these programs have to have this game yes because if they don't have they don't win this game either of them coach those five-star dudes they have on both of their rosters boom they could just it's it's it's gonna be hard to put that toothpaste back in the tube coach we're gonna start doing some combine training that's what they're gonna be doing a hundred percent and i've seen it happen um and it is a challenge right now whoever loses that game coach i i it's gonna be it's gonna be pulling teeth for a while yeah lincoln has been there what five years now and he just never has that corner turn and win he just never has had the one win like oh they're here they're they're here this could be it but oregon at the same time already has the loss if they lose this one it's it's pretty it's over for them this year it just is uh and that it's a fascinating game i think it's number one game of the week i know there's some great games in the sec ole miss florida mississippi state missouri you know texas tennessee all of those but that this is the biggest game of the week stakes wise because somebody's dead coming out of this a hundred percent and i want i want it to be good and i want to cover and the other game that i want to be i want to be really good is next week's alabama mississippi game mississippi state game i want both teams to be undefeated so we got to get mississippi state to win we got to get alabama to win even though i love shane and the boys so that alabama mississippi state we can just talk the whole show next week about that your your lips to god's ears brother your lips we'll we'll worry about that when we when we're worried about it now you did say that uh you you know you were talking to the south carolina dbs last week did did they text you back and say anything about camario because my my god dude my god that's so good man and the and the god bless at the end or drive home safe whatever be safe yeah coach that is pure mississippi and just you just watch that and you're like man it's like sipping a cup of sweet tea from obie's listen to him say that sitting on the porch watching the cricket the cricket sing you know just just you know let's go let's go catch some brim that that's what that is uh last question that i had written down maybe i'll add another one at the end but uh huge game saturday night in oxford lsu ends up losing at 32 24 they fought back you know it'll look it'll be looked upon as the night omiss you know it'll be looked upon as the night omiss because it's a big game and it's a big game and beat them you know but like unless you fought back and tied that game and and really really put a lot into it uh is lsu dead coming off of that or or we should put the shovels down and let lane work no i i think let lane work blake baker is one of the best defense coordinators in college football he's phenomenal charlie weiss juniors bona fide as well the the game with college station a and m that is reminiscent of a usc you know oregon game yeah because they either want to these teams lose that coach it's tough now yeah it is tough and but you know i i think uh lane has a higher ceiling and i think they're gonna find a way to just keep getting better and the quarterback just keep incrementally getting better and then lane and charlie weiss jr what can this kid really do what are his limitations and i think you know some flaws have shown up in the first three games how can we take those minimize them and then maximize the things that he's obviously great at what flaws do you see i see a guy who kind of panics a little bit at the first sign of adversity coming through the line scrimmage and he doesn't really you know if he's got three receivers out there it feels like he gets through maybe one one and a half before he just i'm gonna run so interestingly and i've experienced this i think there is like a little bit of a shell shock where i don't think he's had the o-line previously that he has now and when you don't have an offensive line that can protect you for your third read and your athletic you're gonna go one and a half and gone and i think that's just kind of been built in over time yeah and dude you've got you've got first rounders in front of you surrounding you take your time a little bit and let these freak receivers get open so his internal clock is still adjusted to arizona time 100 he's on west coast last question i'm going to add this one on the fly um this week will be one of the uglier big 10 games in the you'll ever see it'll be iowa and michigan it'll be it's going to be 11 to 5 in the fourth quarter i just know it it's going to they're going to invent a score for this game there's going to be punts and fumbles and and and all sorts of things you're a defensive guy at your core do you do you fucking love this shit or even you do you watch it like ah boy this is a little rough what do you think when you see two defenses like this get after each other what do you think yeah so uh it is it kind of gets you kind of gets you going gets you in the good places and so i've got it written in that i want to do a breakdown on whoever wins this game on their defense so i've already got that marked in for next week's show um the other one we didn't talk about is notre dame's defense they've not really played anybody which sucks like i think marcus freeman is a rock star chris ash so i want to talk about them but they've not given us a reason yet to do that you can break down the offenses from uh iowa michigan and crayon that's that's what you're going to be able to do next week say oh this guy's doing there and and i don't get to be insanely popular because i know football i just have to do me yeah i actually saw you uh basically regurgitate a take that i gave you on the brandon walker college football show on a clip that popped up on my timeline of mostly sports y'all were talking about some football game i think you're talking about lsu old miss and you're like yeah had the film guy on the other day he told me that lsu's completely changed the offense so i don't think pete golden's got all the answers so you're welcome by the way i'll expect my check in the mail for a portion of your work well a it looked like we were both wrong b um that was not regurgitating that was shouting out that was that that was giving credit to oh okay if you know anytime i can anyway we're we're flirting at this point uh so this week well before we get into this week two two guys i want to talk about two guys you were already high on coming into the year um last saturday seemed to be the day that trinidad chambliss solidified himself as the almost the unquestioned best quarterback right now and camario taylor joined the conversation trinidad first that was fucking special was it not yeah and it always is honestly man i've seen great coordinators think about this he's fried blake baker he's fried glenn schumann and kirby smart not once but twice and he's fried blake he scored 35 points on the road against oklahoma like this dude's gotten them all and every everybody's tried to do something relatively new to him everybody tries to do a lot of different coverages blitz packages everything that they can try to do and he's just he seems unflappable to me and it's why i've gotten to the point with him even this week i don't i don't know what vegas knows but i don't i don't pick against trinidad chambliss i just assume nowadays he's gonna be perfectly fine like he's gonna be perfectly fine he's gonna be perfectly fine he's gonna be perfectly like think about it in that football game brandon he had no he had no protection really like if you're paying attention to it from a film standpoint he has no ability to hold the ball um he has no run game after about the second quarter kewan lacy has something going on with his shoulder and they're not really using him all that much as a ball carrier um and it's just like all right can you go win the football game and he's like yeah don't worry i got this we're gonna be all right we're gonna win this in fact just give me the ball with eight minutes left and we'll figure out a way to do this and uh he does every single time there is no way to get him uh there's no way to make him feel uncomfortable he has all the answers and i'm also i'm sick and tired of people telling me that this isn't going to work on the nfl level he makes nfl throws every saturday every saturday he makes tight window throws anticipatory throws he gets through multiple reads the guys the guy's great speaking of ole miss florida so it's up to us to discern what vegas is exactly telling us and i've got it boiled down to and by the way i've got it boiled down to what vegas is telling us i mean florida being favored by three and a half at home over ole miss so i've got it narrowed down to three possibilities and here are the three possibilities i want you to tell me which one you think it might be possibility number one is vegas is telling us that the mental load of getting over the emotional high of beating lane kiffin lsu will be too much going on the road against florida a good team in a hostile environment that is option number one option number two vegas is telling us that neither ole miss nor lsu are all that good or all that much better than the floridas of the world in fact maybe even worse than the floridas of the world that's option number two and option number three is vegas is flat out wrong and option number three rarely happens so which one would you choose out of those three well i i don't think it's the emotional thing to be honest with you like how much more emotional could it have been at the end of last year when their coach does everything he can to dismantle that football team's playoff run and then they turn right around and pete golden's first time being a head coach in a real football game not when two lanes come into town sure a real football game and out coaches kirby smart for four quarters like they have an ability to to handle these emotions i feel like from a coaching staff standpoint over there um so i think it could be the fact that vegas knows what you and i have known because we're ball knowers is that florida's freaking good like florida's really good on the offensive side of the football in particular um and like home field advantage i think in college football is really good and i think in college football sways like four points um so maybe this is a straight pick them game in a neutral site and you know ben hill griffin covers or takes care of that many points in the spread but uh no i'm not too worried about an emotional drain aspect of this because again how much worse of a of an absolute shit show could it be than what they had to face last year during the month of december it can't be anything worse than that in fact it's the opposite we got to get guys to just refocus themselves like like it will be a hide on that standpoint fair enough fair enough uh now i will say to me that's not the game of the week to me the game of the week is out west uh where in um in ole miss florida you have one team that needs to prove like florida needs to prove it out west with usc oregon you got two teams that need to prove it usc desperately needs a lincoln riley signature win that says yep here we go it's not the same old usc and oregon desperately needs a win to stay in this thing and they can turn this ship right around if they win this game that ship is pointing right back towards the end of the game and they can turn this ship right around if they win this game that and national title hopeful what do you make of this matchup a lot of points to defenses that keep continuously getting shredded um and it's so funny you're like i thought that all the lip service this offseason from usc people was that hey we got gary patterson now we can just let him take care of this defense it won't be a question mark we'll be fine and then you look up and they're giving up 35 points to ruckers and via tons of explosives too like it's one thing to like give up a bunch of 25 points to ruckers and then you look up and they're giving up 35 points to ruckers like those things eventually we'll get off the field eventually hopefully something will break our way they'll drop a pass they'll get a holding call like something will happen they're getting shredded in oregon same thing if you watch that oklahoma state game yeah i think they had almost 10 explosives allowed in that football game an explosive for those who are uninitiated is a play of 20 plus yards explosives are the new ways to win football games nowadays in college football lane kiffin had this stat three years ago uh and figured this out you know you're not going to be able to win a football game if you're not going to be able to it used to be it was like if we outrushed the opponent and we win the turnover margin we'll win the game now it's actually more statistically proven that if you win the explosives battle you are more likely to win the football game than even the turnover margin so defensively if we're allowing a bunch of these things it's really hard to win football games it's like consistently win football games against good teams so um offensive uh showdown in that one uh which defense can actually show up which offensive coordinator can actually stay diligent with the run game because if you don't expect your defense to get off the field we might want to keep them off the field by being able to run the ball but both of these teams get way too pass happy especially lincoln in these big time matchups he gets way too pass happy um and that that can ultimately come back to bite you uh in the fourth quarter of this game uh i'm also curious to see if oregon has figured out obviously the internet told them what their quarterback was doing with his feet but it wasn't just the quarterback apparently apparently they've got tells on the offensive line and they've got tells on the offensive line and they've got tells on the offensive line and apparently there's tells all over this place amazing with regards to run pass tendencies so i'm curious to see if they've you know alleviated those problems because they need to well i don't know about you but i i wasn't convinced oregon was all that good when they were up 77 nothing uh against portland state it's when they added that 12 touchdown and won at 84 nothing i was like oh okay well they actually are good so thank god they scored that late touchdown otherwise i would have thought they weren't very good um ridiculous dan lenny just absolutely ridiculous um i i gotta ask about no i'm not gonna ask about my guy yet i'm gonna wait i'm gonna wait i'm gonna wait i'm gonna wait even though even though the secret's out it's not like it's a it's it's our little secret anymore down here in starkville it's it's the secret's out um just trying to think of the game so i've got uh i got florida i got texas tennessee that's where i want to go next last year arch manning right now is the bell of the ball in college football after beating ohio state in the fourth quarter uh they're the number one team in the country last year they had three sec road games and i will walk you through them right now an overtime win over awful kentucky an overtime win over awful mississippi state and a an eight point loss to a florida team so awful they fired their coach that was arch manning's three trips on the road to end this league last year now he's going to neyland stadium against the tennessee team who's just kind of quietly been going about their business at three and oh what do you make of this one uh you forgot a road game last year too they got their face broken by georgia on the road um excuse me you know i you know you're good i i would imagine you were kind of blacking out after mentioning that mississippi state loss because i think you had a relatively uh you know painful front row experience to that don't know why this has to come up every week every single um well you are the face of mississippi state football they use you in every twitter video that they ever have so they do now that i threw a fit yeah uh no i i'm more concerned i'm more looking at this from a defensive standpoint like i got done watching arch this morning against utsa and it's still it's still very much like i'm looking at this from a defensive standpoint like i'm looking at this from a defensive standpoint with this football player um he'll make a couple of throws you know that look like nfl throws and then he'll sail an out route by five yards over the head and then you know we'll we'll hit the deep over and then we'll turn down the post that should have been a 65 yard touchdown and then we'll hold the football and get blown up on a sack and then the next time we'll rip through uh a free rusher and make a great play with our legs and it's just it's up and down it's like a heartbeat sensor right now with this kid so very interested to see what that looks like on the road um also like tennessee they're a wide choice offense everybody like talks about their passing attack over these years but i i think this the the everybody knows what it is now with them they're going to run the ball that's what they do really well since josh heiple's been there they've been a top three rushing attack in the sec over the last five years they're going to try to run the ball the only problem is like texas ain't one of these football teams to try this against these days like will mush champ comes from the nick they stop the run with what we call light counts they're going to stop the run where you have seven in the box and we've got six hell maybe even five and a half we might apex the line bagger just a little bit to make you want to run the football just so you'll get stonewalled to stop tennessee you have to be able to do that because you have to stay over the top of all the passing concepts that they have and texas has what we call in the football world some war daddies like they got some 300 pounders that can flat out play the run on the interior of that field and they're going to offensive line which is the concern i have for tennessee david sanders is great the perry kid at right tackle is playing a lot better i don't know if they're good enough on the interior of that offensive line to be able to run their way to a win like they do most of these football games i worry that this is going to be the first sec football game for phazon brandon and the first game of his career where it's like all right 11 yeah we you got to win us this game today and that's a heavy task to be asking for a true freshman quarterback yeah it's the first time he's not told go out there and beat a team that we're much better than it's it's go out there and and we gotta beat some guys that look like our guys um a couple more games i want to ask you about because there's one game in the big 10 that is both must see and must miss because it's going to be ugly it's going to be nasty it's going to be a lot of punts it's going to be it'll probably have a score you've never heard it'll the score will be 11 to 5 in the fourth quarter for some reason like it's going to be absolute brutality at the highest level but between two teams that could each make the playoff and that's uh only one if whoever wins this game has a nice little track but it's iowa michigan have you gotten a lot of eyes on iowa and do you give them a chance to walk into the big house and and and win this game i mean yeah they have a chance to win the game because i'm like you i think it's going to be like an 11 to 8 score going with like seven minutes left in the fourth quarter it's gonna be gross yeah and disgusting um but no i haven't watched a ton of iowa football i will tell you these teams on paper and on film look immaculate on the defensive side of the football yeah but what offense has either of them played is the best is the best offense of the six opponents that iowa and michigan have played so far is it oklahoma i was gonna say it's either iowa state or western michigan i mean you know what i'm saying like they look awesome they look awesome on paper both of them are inside the top 10 in every single defensive category you can possibly find but they've played nobody with a pulse on the offensive side of the football and guess what i don't think they're gonna play anybody this weekend right with an offensive pulse so um i'm expecting like everybody else and like vegas i think the total in this is 38 and a half i'm expecting just a gross one an absolute gross one that i probably will not be watching uh to be honest i'm a fan of offense i'll watch it in the sense i would like to see iowa just tap michigan's titties that's what i would like to see um but i'm sure it won't happen because that's not the way the world works in my part of the internet world uh lastly the question i have is that you just mentioned them but oklahoma elite defense piss poor offense john matier is having to rely on the fans to tell him where the open receiver is um do you give him any chance any chance to walk into a georgia team who's had three warm-ups three practices georgia's just been waiting for somebody to actually play um any chance oklahoma can turn back the clock on this thing make it a 17 14 war 100 because the defense is that good um brent venables's defense is one of the only defenses i look at and i'll i could sit there for hours and still not figure out what the hell they're doing or how they're doing it yeah it's so chaotic there's so much uh ad-libbing that they do as players it seems like they have freedom to kind of do whatever they feel necessary to do to create havoc they run to the ball so damn hard they hit like nobody else's business like brent's ability to get this defense to play at a high rate is so chaotic and it's so chaotic and it's so chaotic and it's so chaotic is unmatched in in college football in fact i think kirby said it monday he said that this this has become a defensive highlight that everybody steals from in this conference that's kirby smart talking about another defense and it wasn't lip service he's he's talking he's talking real stuff about that everyone's stealing from oklahoma on the defensive side of the football right now so yeah they can turn that into a rock fight i think offensively their only hope is that they do i think have the most explosive player in this football game and it's isaiah like even though matier has been absolutely abhorrent uh even though the the offensive line's not great right now even though they can't run the football satania is still due for an explosive or two every every football game and he's their punt returner so yeah if he can flip the field if he can create an explosive so we we flip the field once with a punt return we get a massive explosive hopefully run it into the box now all of a sudden we've got at least 10 points on the board maybe defense gives us a short field we get another 13 like there's a recipe there i just don't know if they're gonna find it um particularly on the road in stanford stadium you mentioned the the the comment last week about the fans yeah i got done watching that this morning the worst part about that brandon is not the fact that he admitted it post game yeah the worst part about that is that he's staring at the dude he's looking right at him and says nah you're not open and then clicks back left clicks back right apparently here's the fans and then goes oh somebody must be open maybe it's that i click back to the dude's eyes are darting all over the place like you know they're not supposed to there's we're supposed to scan yeah not hip-hop all across the field that just doesn't bode well for road games though if you're depending on your home your your friendly crowd to say hey throw it over here i i'm just not sure the fans in athens are going to be as willing to help um lastly one more question i'll let you get out of here thank you state defenders saying if you don't shut the f up i'm gonna score again and then he scores again um i think that one might be a little bit of a tackling fuel as they would say in the water boy worlds like this one personal yeah i mean i wouldn't like that not me like you're you're you're beating the kid that's you know a foot shorter than you and now he brought his big brother to the party this weekend and the big brother is camario taylor so um no there there's nothing this kid can't do And we were way ahead of it. You were ahead of it because you're a fandom and you love the Bulldogs. I was ahead of it because I'm a ball knower and I actually pay attention to the film. And that was so obvious when you watched him last year. It was so obvious that this kid was going to be this. What I didn't know was that they were going to pair the skill positions with him. The Zion Reagan's addition has been tremendous. Anthony Evans is playing out of his mind right now from a yards after catch standpoint. So yeah, you basically have to concede to them on the offensive side of the football right now. You have to back off of them. You have to let everything get caught up underneath. And then you've got to rally and tackle. And they're not exactly the easiest bunch to tackle right about now. So I picked them again. And I feel like I believe in them more than you do. I never cash any checks before. I know the money's in the account. That's all that. I just I just I just can't do it. I actually have one film question. You can take 30 seconds to answer. This is I think people have a profound misunderstanding of the that's not a misunderstanding of the Mississippi State offense, but I don't know if they've noticed what Mississippi State's offense is. I think it's very unique. Usually, if you have the speedsters out, why do you also have maybe a speedy running back that you can get in space? Mississippi State has three or four guys on the outside that can track it out and outrun everybody. And you've got to chase them all over the field. But then and they also have a quarterback who can run 20 yards and snap a finger. But then they got a guy named 24 fluff off where they hand it to him. And he's a fucking bruiser that like punctures your middle and punctures the inside of you. And like, you got to do both. You got to stop the bruiser. And then you got to. You got to stop the speedsters. It's a pretty unique. It's a pretty unique, you know, combination that I don't know that I've seen all that much. It definitely is. And you get so many three high safety looks against that offense. And the safeties are taught from day one. Like we're going to split the field in half when they're in two by two. And we're going to bail out as soon as the ball is snapped. And we recognize the ball has been snapped. We're going to get over the top of these guys. So what that ultimately does from a schematical and film study standpoint is it turns the linebackers basically into safeties in the sense that if you miss a tackle, we're, we're, we're shit out of luck. There's nobody behind you. Everybody's running. Everybody's getting over the top of these verticals. So you saw that last week, right? On that, that draw that goes for 45 yards down the middle of the field. Uh, a concho, the, the linebacker from South Carolina makes one bad decision, jumps the wrong gap, fluff off, they'll jumps into plus side a gap and then there's nobody. The, the partner of the red sea. Cause the safeties are hauling ass out of there. That that's what that is. Um, and you're right. They, it's a good little pairing of, I can't seem to get my hands on that guy. Oh my God. Sledgehammer through my face. Yes. Um, it, it is a very, it is a very good little combination they got.
