Week 4 Prediction Show + JP Poll Fights

The host provides detailed analysis and betting predictions for several college football matchups, focusing on Texas vs. Tennessee, Florida vs. Ole Miss, and Oregon vs. USC. For Texas-Tennessee, the key emphasis is on Texas improving its run game on the road after a history of poor performance, with Tennessee’s true freshman quarterback facing a tough defensive test. The host believes Texas’s defensive line and run game could determine the outcome, leaning toward Tennessee winning by a narrow margin and taking the under 55.5 points. In the Florida-Ole Miss game, the analysis highlights Florida’s physicality and the let-down factor following their LSU win, while noting Ole Miss’s strong tailback, Kiwan Lacey, as a game-changer. The host believes the game will be close, with a potential for high scoring and a lean toward the over 59.5, though still favoring Ole Miss to win outright. For Oregon-USC, the host expresses skepticism about Oregon’s defensive line and USC’s offensive struggles, citing poor run production and inconsistent quarterback performance. Despite USC’s strength in explosive passing, the host leans toward Oregon winning by a small margin, citing defensive depth and the need for USC to perform well in the second half. The segment also addresses discrepancies in power ratings, particularly around Ohio State and Texas, and defends the model’s neutral-field approach. A recurring theme is the unpredictability of college football, especially with new quarterback dynamics and defensive adjustments. The host concludes by reinforcing the importance of in-game execution, defensive pressure, and statistical trends, while acknowledging the influence of external factors like injuries and momentum. The show ends with a call to action for viewers to attend live events, subscribe, and engage in the community.

[MUSIC] You feel that Jesse, those soft tremors off in the distance is the tremor of false confidence, because way too many people are saying the exact same things about a lot of these games coming up this weekend. In MLSU, South Carolina, Bama, a lot of these games were about to break down on this Tuesday night, September 22nd, the year of our lower 2026 jam packed, high atop a cooling downtown Nashville, Tennessee, barely into the mid 90s today. Oh, man, so everyone thinks they have this stuff figured out. Sports never been more fluid week to week, but everyone thinks they have things figured out. Well, not I, and I went eight and two on the Ramanoodle Express last week. So if anyone could claim it, I'm claiming it, but I'm not claiming it. But it is a major prediction Tuesday on the show. We've got a new JP poll. Jesse, we got a band, whoever that guy is that said he's checking in for me most basement in the live chat. We got to ban him. He's got to be gone. There are too many over reactions in this sport. And we will address several of them tonight. I'm trying to look out for you, which is more than I can say for Joey McGuire, Texas Tech, who flat out assaulted us at a post-game news conference after a two-point win over Houston the other night. As you can tell, got a lot of directions to go this evening. They're watching us in Harlan, Kentucky. They're watching us in Denver, Colorado, Biola, Battery, Alabama, and Houston, Texas. This is going to be a general statement. But trust me, there's a lot of meat on the bone to the statement itself. Our audience has been out of this world insanely amazing this season so far. And I thank you. That's it. Let's get into predictions. Saturday afternoon, you don't have to wait long. 12 p.m. Eastern time, Knoxville, Tennessee. We will be there. The don't tread on Saturday tour will be there. Serve by Jimmy John's, which by the way, wanted me to remind you. You can get the new barbecue brisket sandwich at Jimmy johns.com or on the Jimmy John's app today. What did we bank on coming to this year about Texas? Well, for those of us who believed in Texas, excuse me. For those of us who still believe in Texas, we banked on archmaning, improving, fair. We banked on Texas being a better team on the road. And wouldn't you know it? We get to find out how far they've come in both lanes this Saturday in Neal and Stadium. Now, as the good Lord would have it, this is not a prime time kickoff. In fact, Texas should be home before the sun goes down. So it's a nice way to ease into playing in front of 100 or so thousand people. But here's what killed Texas on the road last year that really needs to flip script wise in this game. In four SEC road games last year, their lead rusher was under 45 yards. So here's what I'm not interested in. I'm not interested in watching Texas go into Neal and get stoned on the ground. And then arch makes mistakes because he's asked to do too much. Everyone's saying archmaning's a bust. No, no, no. They went to the portal and got those two cats who you see on the slider right there. If you're listening on podcast, that's Hollywood, some others. That's Relic Brown. What did we go to the portal for? We went to the portal to rectify the fact that we couldn't run the ball. Therefore, we couldn't control games. We couldn't put teams away. We got beat by Florida on the road last year. There's no shame in getting beat by Ohio State. But man, Kentucky took us to the wire. Lane Duck Kentucky took us to the wire. Mississippi State. The year before Camario Taylor popped. They took us to the wire because we couldn't run the ball. So the first thing we need to find out Saturday. Texas run the ball better. Are we clipping off more than three, three and a half yards per carry? Because they went to the portal and that was a huge point of emphasis. And archmaning in these SEC road starts 57%. Six touchdowns, four interceptions as an SEC road starter. All I'm trying to say is those will be talked about in isolation and they shouldn't be. Those are very, very, very, very correlated. As one goes, so too does the other. Secondly, I don't know if you've heard Jesse. We have a true freshman quarterback starting for Tennessee. Faeson Brandon, whose name is still being mispronounced by a good 35% of the college football public, has a chance to just explode on the national scene Saturday. You didn't watch the Georgia Tech game. I'm talking to the casuals, not our audience. Most of them did not watch the Georgia Tech game. I know you weren't glued to Tennessee Ferman. I know you weren't. And I'm not even going to blame you. But you will be tuned in Saturday. And they'll come on the air and Fowler and Herb Street will remind you that Faeson Brandon is a true freshman. He's thought of as the future of the program. However, what does he have to face today? A will must chant defense. Well, I do think some things about this. I do think Texas is interior defensive line, which comes at you in waves. Probably has an edge over Tennessee specifically on the interior of that offensive line. Tennessee has not faced a top 100 run defense yet. This is Texas. So a few truths in an uncertain world. But one of them is Texas qualifies as a top 100 run defense outlet. I think Dishon Bishops good to go. We think he's good to go. Heipel, I think, was quoted to say, maybe we shouldn't put it back in the game last week. But I think he'll be good to go. I guarantee you, if we were to get each of these defensive coordinators on the set tonight, which we didn't make the call for because we don't have a room. That's the only reason they're not here. I guarantee you they would both say, I don't really think this quarterback can just flat out beat me with his arm. I think if we get beat, it's because they ran the ball effectively enough. Therefore, we're going to do whatever we can to stop that. And we'll must champs looking and saying, I got studs all over the place defensively. If a true freshman beats me through the air, I'll tip my cap to him. And I guarantee you Tennessee thinks the same thing about arch. If you watch him recently, archmaning has not looked phenomenal throwing the ball. But then again, archmaning shouldn't have to solely win this game, throwing the ball. Although if I'm Tennessee's defensive staff, I want to try and force him to do that. Remember though, it's easy to say, you know, on the Tennessee side, as true freshman starter over their quarterback, I'm going to make him beat me. Sometimes that works, but not always. Like there are a lot of first year starters at quarterback in this league right now that are slowly becoming superstars. Keeling Russell's doing it. I think Jared Curtis in short order is going to be that Vanderbilt phase on Brandon's going to be that too. These are really, really good play. These dudes already Brandon included have probably supplanted a lot of the multi year returners in this league. Like you want to look at them and you want to look at what Marseille reads doing or what Lenora sellers has done. And you want to tell me that you take the incumbents over the new guys. Yeah, there's a learning curve here. Of course there is. But you know, sometimes you force a guy to beat you and he beat you is all I'm saying. This game's so unpredictable because explosives are hard to predict because right now, like a mini paper popper of a stat, that's why it was a muted paper pop. Tennessee's offense 89th in the country in explosive past plays. Texas is worse. There are 111th in explosive past plays. Now I think Texas has a personnel edge wide receiver versus DBs, but you got to take advantage of it because I would venture to think Tennessee probably thinks the same thing. Especially with Mike Matthews, that's a really, really good player. Do you take advantage of it? If the ball's not in their hands, it doesn't really matter. Keep an eye on Colin Simmons. There are a lot of injury uncertainties in this game and other games because it's Tuesday night as I'm talking to you right now when we're doing the show live. His status is very important because Texas doesn't have three or four premier past rushers. They've got a premier past rusher and then a good defensive personnel set that revolves around that. Keep an eye on that. I expect QB run to be a major factor in both offensive game plans. What we are yet to see is how this Texas defense handles the road handles tempo. Now I note typically the roads not supposed to impact the defense. Yeah, okay, let me tell you, let me tell you what I did in the words of Harvey updike. I went on the road several times into kneeling and watched them take on big time opponents. Ironically, Alabama, a couple of times, even when your defense is on the field. When they go tempo on you and they hit like two or three big explosive plays and that place is going insane. It's very disorienting for a group who hasn't been on the road yet and Texas this group hasn't been on the road yet. So, which of these defensive coordinators is willing to roll the dice? Because there's probably going to come two or three moments here where they press that button. And it may pay off and boom, it's fourth and 19. Or it may be first and goal cause man, they just popped us for 65 off of a broken play. Let's take a look at what the model thinks. Fandals got Texas minus five and a half right now. It's a lot of points, Jesse. The model has Texas minus three and a half. So it does indeed think the number is a little bit too fat. I am going to take Tennessee plus the points. I think this is going to be a one possession game. There is a decent chance Tennessee wins this game. So if you're giving me points, I'm interested. I'll tell you what I'm more interested in. The under recently burned by the under in the Auburn, Florida game. I'm right back up on the horse and I am taking under 55 and a half because I think there is a reasonable chance that at least one of these offensive sputters. It could just flat out be a defensive battle. in the end. So I am comfortable going under 55 and a half, but I do lean Tennessee plus any points that you're willing to give me. Before that game happens, Friday night has to happen. And before Friday night happens, Friday afternoon has to happen. So a few things for you to keep in mind. Our friends over there in East Tennessee will be there shortly, but you don't have to wait to go to PaystateMaterial.com and buy the Don't Tread on Saturday, Tennessee themed shirt. Yes, there you go. You begged for it. You threatened me with all sorts of things in my DMs if I didn't do this. So there they are. I talked to Alex and the folks and they said, fine, boom, they pressed a button because it's just that easy. So those are available or Auburn shirts flew off the shelves last week. Second thing you need to know. Bussen and Pate will be live right there from basically the set of college game day Friday afternoon from two Eastern to three Eastern. We had a great crowd at Auburn last week. I would consider that a challenge for everyone at Tennessee. Third thing you need to know. Later that night, 7 p.m. We are sold out at Jackson Terminal for our Paystate live shows. The first one we've done since December. This is not televised. This is not internet vised, which is a broadcast on the internet. This is just for the live audience. Now, I'm not supposed to tell you this. I'm supposed to keep this to myself, Jesse. So this is just between this is just between you and I and hopefully no one overhears this. I was able to get my hands on a few extra tickets just like just a few of them and they're able to be handed out at my discretion. Small handful. All I'm saying is you know where I'll be Friday afternoon. So if you didn't get your hands on ticket yet, that's all I'm saying. And if you don't get any, it's Jesse's fault. All right, we move on. What a game in the swamp, huh? All miss at Florida Saturday 330 Eastern on ABC. Could we get a quick fact check on how many games Sean McDonough has called in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium as of late. Can't be many. This game is presented by factor. Bradley just ate a factor meal within the last hour because we didn't get our food order delivered properly. Factor boom right there. Almost to the point where we wondered why did we order food to begin with. I've got a question for you, Jesse. Why is Florida favorite in this game? Now I'm asking you that because a lot of people asked me that earlier today. Florida ladies and gentlemen, that's not a typo on the bottom of the screen. Florida's favorite by three and a half points. Now if you do some quick math there, even if you subtract the field goal for home field, this is an implied Florida slight favorite on a neutral field line from our friends at Fandall. How can this be? Is Trinidad Chamberlain still at all miss? Yes, he is. So there are betting streets. And then there are betting back alleys. This is what me mall would call a back alley points bread. This is the kind of point spread where it's a one off. We call them red flag spreads. There are special extenuating circumstances. It's sort of like a manual override. I do it with the model all the time. It turns out Fandall has done it with this game. And I will tell you more about exactly how much that manual override was later in the JP poll segment. But as far as the swamp goes, do you realize this is the first ranked versus ranked match up there since week two of 2022? Now I'm going to give you just a second to think back a long time ago. Most of you were around though. 2022 week two. What's happening there? Well, Florida's coming off a week one win at Utah. We were there ironically. Week two, Kentucky, led by William Levis came to town and they beat Florida. That's the last ranked versus ranked game in the swamp. Until now, Florida, how many points do they need to win? We threw around some numbers in the office earlier today. You watched Ole Miss, Kiwan Lacey or not. What would you expect is needed to beat Ole Miss here? I said you got to have at least 38. And if it's a turnover fest, okay, maybe I'm wrong. But I mean, if I'm John Somerall, if I'm Buster Fultoner, I think I got to have 38 minimum. Louisville, it turns out, played Ole Miss in week one. They had four passes of 30 plus yards. Three of them were for touchdowns. And I was on the field last week. And I got to see Florida's wide receiver core up close and singleton didn't even play. And at last check, we think they may slash probably get him back this week. Florida is seventh in passes of 30 plus yards in the country this year. So far, Buster Fultoner Aaron Filo, that OC quarterback combo has been really, really good. And it's effective already. So you got to imagine, kind of continue to scale up your production level. What I love, as it relates to this matchup for Florida against Ole Miss, is the yard after catch potential for that group. They are really, really good. They're really, really skilled. They're really, really fast. And what it does not allow you the ability to do is stack the box in an attempt to completely stifle Jaden ball. So he'll get his, they'll get theirs. We've already seen Ole Miss tested twice. Like I said, Louisville had some success through the air with explosive passes. I got to believe Florida will at least have those opportunities, duped to them to cash them in. Secondly, just like in the Texas Tennessee game with Collins Simmons, there's a very, very important role player here in the Ole Miss offensive operation. His name is Kiwan Lacey. He is one of the best tailbacks in the country. And we don't know his status this week. And if he can't go, then it's not the end of the world for Ole Miss, but it is certainly a game changer for Ole Miss because after he left that game against LSU in the middle of the third quarter, they only had four running back carries the rest of the game. That was that point where LSU stormed back but then Ole Miss scores to put the cap on it. The glaring mismatch here is Trinidad Chambliss versus the Florida secondary. Kiwan Lacey or not, but Kiwan Lacey definitely changes the dynamic. Now, here's how I envision Trinidad Chambliss and that wide receiver core versus the Florida secondary. Some of it's within structure. Some of it looks pretty. There are going to be several other plays that are one of one plays that are broken plays. They're out of structure. They're off script. It's just a magician with a football in his hands and you're watching it going, "Yeah, I have no idea how you stop that." Well, it's easy. You don't. You don't. You just hope that when you get the ball back, you cash in and you continue to match them. Point for point and then hopefully home field checks in or hopefully he pulls the trigger on one or two errant throws and you're able to take advantage of it. But if Byron Brown was able to put 271 up on you through the air, you got to believe Trinidad Chambliss was going north of 3.350. These kinds of numbers are not out of the question. But you know what is actually a testament to him above and beyond the obvious is names like Traylon Ray. Jesse, do you remember doing the Ole Miss preview video earlier this year? Do you remember how often we mentioned the name Traylon Ray? That's a goose egg. Zero. Yeah. I don't even think our Ole Miss people talked about him a whole lot. And he had seven catches for 115 yards in a touchdown last week. Point being, there are several instances every year where a really really good receiver is wasted because they're not playing with a component quarterback. Then on the entire flip side of that coin, you've got the best in the country who just pop receivers out of nowhere. You hadn't heard of Traylon Ray and boom, 100 yard plus seven reception game touchdown out of nowhere. That's how good Trinidad Chambliss is. One thing I do think here is I think Ole Miss is the better team. Just in a vacuum, I think they are. But one thing I know because I watched it happen last week is Florida will get after you physically. It may not be the best overall collection of talent John Summaryl's ever going to have there, but they will get after you. They love to fight. They took it to Auburn last week. It was very glaring early on. It was kind of a uh-oh moment for those of us who had picked Auburn to win the game. So if you're thinking about the let down spot here, the let down spot is something that's a tale as old as time. If you've watched college football at all, you know about the concept of the let down spot. The week after the big thing happens. To me, the rubber meets road on the let down factor here in the physicality that Florida could bring. The physicality that Florida could inject into this game. Because if you think about it psychologically, you think about it just as a practice flow regimen this week, you gotta back it off a little bit. You don't go as hard as you possibly can again the week after the LSU game. It's not realistic. Guys will be up emotionally this weekend. It's physically. Can they take a punch like Florida is able to dish out the week after that LSU game? Because if you're not ready for it, no amount of Saturday morning hype gets you ready for that is my point. That's where the let down factor could come. Florida pressure numbers almost certainly don't carry over. Like I don't want people to get overly excited about the fact they had seven sacks and nine tackles for loss last week because I mean I'm you see this phone right here? It's barren brown. It's not moving. It's not moving Jesse. You see this bottle of water? It's not moving. It's not actually not even supposed to be up here. I forgot you brought it in present. I'm sorry about that. It's not moving. It's the point. It's just sitting there. That's what it felt like. Watching Florida get after Byron Brown. Can you imagine some of those edge rushers looking at Byron Brown saying he's about to throw this ball. Surely he's about to scramble. Oh, he's just going to stand there. Cool. Boom, sack. Second, fifteen. That's not Trinidad Chambles. Trinidad Chambles has only been sacked two plus times three of his sixteen starts. So does it change if they don't have Q1 Lacey? Yes, it does. JT Lindsey, like, what can you bring me, by the way. But it's hard to peg this game, man. So let's take a look at what the model thinks. Fandall, I told you, has Florida minus three and a half. Model thinks that they have vastly over corrected, but the model has it at a pick them. So it still does lean Ole Miss plus the points. I lean Ole Miss plus the points. I would slightly lean Ole Miss to win this game outright, but I think there's more value on the over. And as long as the over sitting at fifty nine and a half, this is kind of a typical to my normal routine. Normally, I'm just on a side. I'll take Ole Miss plus three and a half. I'll take the over at fifty nine and a half. I think that game could get into the seventies. So I'll take Ole Miss plus the points, but I'll take the over. Oh, man. USC's got a organ this week. Organ at USC Saturday, NBC games, seven thirty Eastern time. Games presented by Fandall, which by the way, Jesse, as of this very moment, is live in both California and Oregon. You don't believe me? Download the app. Go check it for yourself. Ah, I'm right. It is. So the winner of the last eleven matchups between these teams has scored thirty or more points. Several of those were in the forties. Preseason. We asked Fandall Mike. Look ahead to week four. Organ at USC. What would the number be? Fandall Mike said Oregon minus six and a half. Two weeks ago, post Oklahoma state implosion, USC was a one and a half point favorite. Then Oregon splattered Portland state all over Eugene, USC survived Rutgers. And now Oregon is back to a two and a half point favorite. These are the number one and number two teams in explosive passes in the country. That's the good news. The bad news is mostly still out for USC. McLelland's out for Oregon. So I have a question for you guys as we start to break this game down. It's not a trick question. I just think it may elicit a different answer than you would have given me three or four weeks ago. Which of these quarterbacks would you rather have in this game? I would have certainly told you Dante more a month ago. I think my answer is Jayden Mayava right now. I think I've got more confidence in the way he's playing right now. He's staying on schedule. He's hitting intermediate and deep balls. Now of course, you've always gotten the back of your head. If you've watched Mayava at USC, man, what about those multi turnover games? You never fully rid yourself of those. That's always potentially in the equation. So yes, I'm scared of that, but I'm also scared that Dante more post Indiana game is like a shell of himself and what he could be. I can't snap him out of it. And he is not the only problem on this team right now. It's not like everything else is like a well-oiled machine. We're just waiting for the quarterback piece to fall into place. Mayava was minus two interceptions in last year's game. And that was the difference. We were at that game in Eugene last year. So it's up to him to break the trend. You know, if Lincoln and USC are ever going to get this thing done, this is this is the kind of thing that has to change. It's like we talked about with Texas. They got to be able to run the ball on the road to change the fact that they've been terrible on the road. Well, USC has got to not only not turn the ball over. They're allowed to force turnovers as it turns out. So let's try that. That's the first thing. The second thing and part of the edge for Oregon here has been and should be them running the ball. But this is no fairy tale world. So what should be is not always in the offensive line for Oregon's been bad for sacks. They gave up against Oklahoma state. They couldn't run the ball. They're 67th in rush yards per game right now. There's 74th in explosive runs. Everything we hoped and knocked on wood about with the offensive line as come up nothingness. They don't have a rusher over 90 yards in any game this year. So I'm trying to figure out for the life of me. Is this just like an early season thing and are my expectations delayed but still right in time or was I just dead wrong? And I'm really scared because I don't know which way to lean right now. That has to change though. Because Rutgers last week, Jesse's Rutgers had 168 on the ground. 132 of those rush yards were in the second half. Now, I want you to apply that to this game. What could that mean? First, I need to tell you, USC is getting Jakeem Stewart back this week. So that is some added depth along the defensive line. But still, Oregon, I'm going to use that S word again, should be able to be the first and biggest test of USC's defensive depth. They should be able to do that. They should be able to break them in the second half. Should, nothing I've seen from them so far validates that they will, but they should be able to because there's very little rotation there for USC. So you get them in the deep end and the third and fourth quarter, you should be able to take over the game. I've never said should in an uncertain form more than I have this game preview so far. Got a lot of people watching live, by the way. Please like the video, like, like, like, all right, back to the preview. Oregon's defensive line has to answer the bell here. Like to me, Jesse, we questioned Oregon's offensive line. So if you told me week four, Oregon's offensive line was going to be struggling, that wasn't going to be the shock. You told me that defensive line is struggling and I'm shocked by that. I'm genuinely shocked. Dude, I think the coaching staff is genuinely shocked by it. Sometimes there's over hype and preseason. And then you talk to a coaching staff in December and they're like, yeah, we kind of knew we may not have had what the public thought we had there. I don't think that's the case with Oregon right now. I think Dan landing and those dudes really thought they had difference makers, multiple difference makers up front defensively. Here comes that word again on paper. This right here, they should, but Oregon hasn't played a game on paper this year. Unfortunately, or there's still be undefeated. They've played it on the field. And on the field, they're 59th and have a great, they're 74th and sax per game. They didn't even blow Portland state up. They beat a maybe 40, but they didn't take over up front defensively against them and Bradley started at right guard. So I don't really know like when it clicks, you keep waiting for it to click. You're waiting for it. It's like the old lady in Titanic. You're waiting for an absolution that will never come. It's really not that serious. It's just a football game, but it is to me because I had Oregon penciled into the national title game and USC's offensive lines look pretty good. So they got a tall task ahead of them. I think it's fair to consider this a maker break for both of these coaches. It's crazy because I know it's weak for USC hadn't even lost. So they're like, what? Us? Talk about them. No, both of you. Lincoln Riley, paper popper, some guy in the live chat just said, we want SEC paid back. I get excoriated for talking too much SEC in the moment I go out west talking about Mississippi State. We'll be back. Lincoln Riley, Jesse, two and 10 versus top 20 teams at USC. Can you name the wins? You can because you gave me this stat earlier. It was the Sharon Moore lead Michigan Wolverines, which would eventually fall off a cliff. And it was the Brian Kelly lead LSU Tigers, which would also eventually fall off a cliff. We're still looking for a signature win out here is the point. And it's heartbreak for me either way because I've got USC and Oregon in the playoff and someone in the words of Leo DiCaprio in Titanic, someone's life's about to change, not for the better. Fandals got Oregon minus two and a half. The model says that's still a little bit too rich. We're going to go Oregon minus one. It brings me absolutely no joy. But at this point, if Dan landing needs the kind of motivation we've been given joy, McGuire, so be it. USC's going to win this game outright. Good for Lincoln Riley. I can't believe it. What just happened? I can't believe it. It's like Will Ferrell in old school. I was just kind of entranced during the whole preview. And I came out of it. What happened? I blacked out. I picked USC to be to Oregon. That's pretty stupid. We'll see how that works out for me. They're watching in Ocala, Florida, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Bluffton, Indiana. Thank you so much. Now, that does not conclude our predictions for tonight. Good live crowd, by the way. Lively live chat. Please subscribe to the channel and like the video. The JP polls out for week four. Totally not rankings. Certainly not. These are merely power ratings. That's been a few weeks. So let me briefly remind you, I have the model here, the model, not drug tested. So we have no idea what it's on. We have no idea what's going into the power ratings that it spits out. But nonetheless, it spits out power ratings. These are not rankings. It doesn't really care about a win loss percentage or anything like that. It cares about who would be favored against who on a neutral field. It's important to note, these are not "fandals" numbers, because sometimes "fandal" disagrees with the model. Sometimes I disagree with the model. In fact, I disagree with a lot. Not today, but nevertheless, in the interest of full disclosure and integrity, which this show is built upon, we provide the JP poll every week, and in chaos ensues, because no matter how often I explain it, somebody goes crazy. God just said, I don't have a girlfriend in the live chat, which is technically true, but we have Savannah State. We have a wife. We have like a level up from girlfriend. What kind of. I think it was a bad idea to put the live chat in front of me. That's what I think. Okay. The first piece of feedback or pushback on the JP poll today. Let's just get it out in the open. Yes, Texas played Ohio State in week one, and yes, the model still has Ohio State power rated above Texas. And Drew came in trying to reinvent the power ratings wheel, and he said, I don't give a crap if it's power or rankings, you simply cannot have Texas behind Ohio State. You can't have a team with a loss above them. That's full stop, spoiler alert. It wasn't full stop. So I came in, defending my honor, since no one else was Jesse, where were you? And I said, well, Drew, if Ohio State would be favored on a neutral field, which they would, and that's the entire purpose of this exercise, which it is, then yes, you can have Ohio State above Texas. That's quite literally the only thing we're trying to do. Now, Jesse, wouldn't you think that after that explanation sound in logic that Drew would say, okay, have a good day? Drew did not say, okay, have a good day. He continues. That's silly. One of the worst words in the English language. That's silly. Who says they're favored on a neutral field? You? You can't think that's the case based on the result. Texas gave Ohio State the rope to make that lead as much as Ohio State did. So what we have here is Drew is describing a football game that happened, and Ohio State got a big lead. And then Texas, to their credit, came all the way back and won the game. And according to Drew, that means you cannot powerrate Ohio State over Texas. Anyway, he was asking, Ohio State would be favored on a neutral field according to who. As you guys know, Fandule is the odds provider of this show, which means I have Fandule Mike's cell phone number. Jesse does, too. So I had Jesse call Fandule Mike. We literally put Fandule on speakerphone in the office today and said, hey, am I crazy? Is the model crazy? What would you guys make Ohio State versus Texas? And they told me. And I said, you mind saying that publicly? And they said no problem. I said, hold on a second. And I tagged them. And I said at Fandule, who would be favored today, neutral field, Ohio State, Texas. And Fandule made a whole graphic. Ohio State minus one and a half vindicated, except that then Drew still came back at me. And I think we lost Drew. I think he's blocked us. He's given us the brand of Walker Treatment. Yes, Ohio State still belongs above Texas in a power rating. Now, as you also know, I do the commissioners poll every Thursday, which is my version of rankings. And I've got Texas ahead of Ohio State. Why? Because in rankings land, results on the field matter. There's got to be a lot of merit, wins, and losses matter in rankings. You would think this is easy. It's not. We continue. I think there was a pretty good point someone made in the replies. It's not all hatred and venom. Someone made a good point about Florida and Ole Miss. Tyler said, you say these power rankings, ratings. You say these power ratings are based on who would be favored on a neutral field. But Florida's minus three and a half at home this weekend against Ole Miss. That implies minus 0.5 on a neutral field. And yet Florida's eight spots lower than Ole Miss. How do you explain this? This would be an excellent point except for this is a red tag game. As I told you in the Ole Miss Florida preview, every so often, once or twice a year, there's a game where Fandall, any odds maker, puts like a special label on it. There are extenuating circumstances. In this case, it's Ole Miss playing the week after they played Lane Kiffin and beating Lane Kiffin. And it's viewed right or wrong, I'm just telling you what the odds makers have done with this game because I confirmed it today. It is viewed with such a special designation that Fandall has added an extra three points. A full three points to account for that. So they think the value that should be baked into the letdown, Ole Miss should feel this week, is equal to what the value of home field advantage is. So if you subtract that in a normal world, in a non-red tag type game, the power rating still makes sense. Ole Miss would still be above Florida because you would take that three points away. You would take the three points for home field away. And that would mean in the aggregate, if you put Ole Miss in Florida on a neutral field, it would still be Ole Miss plus like three. So there you go. But that was a good question, because 99 times out of 100, you would be right there. This is an exception to the rule type game. Special circumstance, if you will. Next up, we're still dealing with the Oklahoma Michigan conundrum. Ethan said, "This is awful." How can you rank Oklahoma, let alone rank them above Michigan? I didn't rank anyone. And their power ratings, Ethan continues. Then you got Ohio State two spots above Texas, so we already dealt with Ohio State Texas. Alright, Ethan is probably saying something a lot of you would say, if you looked at this right now. OU is 22, Michigan is 25, they played, Michigan won, Oklahoma looks terrible, by the way. How is Oklahoma still above them? Well, it's simple math. Think it through Ethan. Think it through critically. Okay, mute everything else in the background. I need you to lock in with me for like 45 seconds here. Don't think as a fan, think as an odds maker. Think as if you have opened up Ethan's sports book and you have to put these numbers out publicly. So two weeks ago, three weeks ago now, Oklahoma is a five and a half point favorite at Michigan. That means, on a neutral field, odds makers are telling you, "OU's like minus eight, OU's eight points better than Michigan." How'd that game play out? Michigan won the game by seven, including minus two turnovers baked in for Oklahoma. All I'm telling you, Ethan, is that result did not have the impact of swinging the opinion of odds makers over 10 points, which is what would have been necessary to reverse this and to have Michigan above Oklahoma right now. That's it. That's all. If they played today, and the line was put out, and it was OU minus one, because they're playing in St. Louis somewhere, you'd be free to bet it. I may follow you for all you know. It's not even about what you or I would do, or who we think would win. It's about who would be favored. Next up, I guess some guys just totally befuddled. Peach State pride said, "You literally harped on why Georgia and Notre Dame didn't deserve to be ranked over Ole Miss. I don't get it, man. That's right." You don't get it. That's what's right. I did harp on why Georgia and Notre Dame don't deserve to be ranked over Ole Miss. Here's the problem. These aren't rankings. That's it. That's the problem. These are power ratings. So, Peach State, but can I call you PCP? Why not? Let's call in PCP. Fair amount of, you know what, I'm not going to finish that sentence. That's discipline, Jesse. You just saw me practice discipline. Now, if this were a pre-recorded show, you would never have heard the last 10 seconds. But we're live. We have to roll with it. But PCP, I would like you to answer a question for me. Georgia plays Ole Miss in Atlanta tomorrow. Who do you think is favored? Did you say Georgia? You are correct. That's why Georgia belongs above Ole Miss. However, Georgia, you're right. Hasn't played anyone. Ole Miss has. I think Ole Miss should be ranked higher than Georgia. Ranked. Not power rated. Therein lies the difference. Personally, if you want to know what I think about a Savannah State in the church, that spreading Southern Miss propaganda, doesn't Ryan McGee do his bottom 12 every week? Should we be doing like a bottom 12 of the J.P. poll? Because that's about where Southern Miss would be. And it brings me no joy, Jesse. You know as well as I do. I want to back who she backs. I find joy in filling others' cups over mine. But I can't do it with Southern Miss right now, man. Have you watched Southern Miss? No. Good. Okay, don't. Don't give it a year or two. But I will say, I do think Indiana at eight is a total mystery. I'm looking at the model right now, Indiana at eight, and they haven't played anyone, and they won't play anyone. Do you hear Cignetti having to defend Josh Hoover? I was doing a rich eyes and show today, and he played like a minute-long clip of Cignetti like had just taken a trunk dart to the neck, and he was defending Josh Hoover. And at the end, it was like, I still like Josh Hoover as our quarterback. We'll see. They played Nebraska in a few weeks, and then they'll get into the meat of their conference schedule. Jesse swears Penn State should be power rated over Texas Tech. But Jesse swore that Rutgers was going to beat USC last week. Jesse's a liar. Jesse lied. He lied about football. That's one thing that Mimal taught us never to do. One last bit of information here. We'll notice that the 24 and 25 spots are occupied by Nebraska. and Michigan. Now the first thing that means is ever so slightly the model would favor Nebraska over Michigan. Secondly as you know Jesse 12 or so hours from now we will head over to the bus and shop and we'll sit down with Will Compton and Taylor LeWon, distinguished alumni of those respective universities. A lot of you took notice of that and there was all sort of fancy artwork in the replies that indicated there could be a fight coming down the road. There could be a power ratings fight coming down the road with Michigan and Nebraska because we haven't really seen Nebraska tested someone misspelled Jesse in the live chat. It's actually J-E-S-S-I-E with a heart over the eye so please get it right or don't write his name at all thank you. I have to speak up because he can't. So anyway the J people was just a hornet's nest today and I'm going to keep doing it because as you all know we are solely in this business for the clicks and nothing else and I would be no one if I was not clickbait-pate. Now full disclosure most of the allegations of clickbait come on Twitter where I don't have anything for you to click on but don't let that get in the way of a good nickname. Let's get back to the games. Texas A&M at LSU why are we playing this game Jesse Texas A&M has no shot but this game is presented by Quick Trip and they're gonna do it anyway and LSU is an 8.5 point favorite and I will admit it's really hard it's really really hard to draw positives on Texas A&M right now. I watched the Kentucky game. Hey I watched the Arizona State game that's why we took Kentucky plus the points so quickly last week it was on the Ramanoodle Express and do you know in the live chat some people had the audacity to push back Jesse you know what they called it they called it a bounce back game for Texas A&M no it was just a get bounced game like that never ever ever was the spread even mentioned once the game started so here's the hard truth about this matchup Saturday night. Someone's gonna have two losses before October two conference losses before October. Last year this game got played and it was 49 to 25 A&M and they ran for 224 yards would we like to get odds from Fandall on what it would take for me to place a wager on Texas A&M to rush for over 220 in this game think about think about the plus juice on that when Jesse so Texas A&M can you can you tell me what they're hanging their head on offensively right now because I can't and I know like this is the kind of game where against all odds some result happens so I've searched far and wide all afternoon for a Texas A&M win here that has led me to these questions I watched a team with no offensive identity go into Baton Rouge in week one they were Clemson were past tense Clemson because they got splattered they got bodybag and shipped back home that's not gonna work for you so you got to hang your hat on something there's no downfield threat here there's no explosive runs there's no real yards after catch they're banged up they just lost bussy for the year Marcel Reed ran it 10 times versus Kentucky I think you got to double that here like what what works at least that can work and LSU's run defense has been a strength and I get all that what else is there I'm asking not rhetorically I really want replies what else could work here you've got to believe that you're going to get a desperation performance from both teams but especially LSU because LSU is coming home and you know Dylan Jones has been a good tailback form run games been pretty good for LSU so far this year you got to think he can provide what Kentucky's tailbacks provided Kentucky had 25 carries 145 and two touchdowns from the running back position last week so I can get that level of production I think from Dylan Jones I think I can but even if I don't quite get that we've also got a mobile threat in Sam Levitt and Kenny mentioned was not really that last week and I didn't need to be but it feels like the way the LSU folks are talking some guys are about to get a shot here maybe some offensive lineman are about to get a shot those wide receivers are getting a shot maybe looking at last week's result last two weeks results really saying that's not quite good enough we're going to rotate some more guys in here it's it's really hard as as much as I lean LSU here it's hard to be totally sure with the way this game is going to go because each of these offensive lines is really in a state of flux and that's not a shot for either I think A&M's really disappointing because I think that they thought that unit would be further along when I had been out there in spring and talked to a lot of the staff then they are right now but quarterback on each of these teams could be viewed as if he as well certainly I'd put more stock or buy more stock in Sam Levitt but both of them are iffy both offensive lines are iffy A&M's down a receiver LSU is kind of searching for a wide receiver one although they have plenty of options at least there at the end of the day LSU's wide receivers versus A&M DB's plus the run game that I think I'm going to get from LSU easily explains this spread easily explains it so let's take a look at what the model has Fandall has LSU minus eight and a half we agree exactly with LSU minus eight and a half there are too many scenarios here where A&M gets buried I would love to believe in a bounce back performance here and maybe we'll get one I believe I believe they'll fight it's just I don't know that that's going to be good enough it's there's just a lot of bad on this offense right now so I think LSU's going to win and I would lay the points I would take LSU to cover too next up leisurely pace here leisurely pace a lot of people in the live chat thank you so much practicing their first amendment rights which we we recognize on the campus of paid state but you are legally obligated to like the video whether you say anything in the chat or not you're not I just I just strongly ask that you do so and subscribe to the channel to you're already here after all and it doesn't sign you up for anything studies have shown that when I ask people to like the video during the show we get like three times as many likes studies South Carolina's at Alabama Saturday night it's a seven o'clock Eastern kickoff on ESPM these teams have played the last two years it's been down to the wire Bama had a good week eventually last week but FSU scored a little too many points for comfort but then we also watch what South Carolina did in South Carolina the antithesis they got off to a really fast start and then they withered down the stretch so like each of these teams is the polar opposite of each other in terms of has there may be a good derivative play for those of you interested in betting this game on that front but Lenora sellers has to bounce back or it's over and I say this games over more than that could be over my instinct on this game since the conclusion of Saturday's games is South Carolina is going to take a fight to Alabama that's my instinct okay so let's talk through it and see if I can talk myself into the upset Lenora sellers has to bounce back in a big way they had opportunities last week see the thing about it is when you struggle offensively people immediately want a question play calling or they want a question coaching sometimes execution I don't know if you go back and watch South Carolina game I'm not so sure I'm saying and Kendall browser terrible I didn't think that I thought especially with the lack of established playmakers at wide receiver he's still skeamed open plenty enough it wasn't taking it advantage of it wasn't executed on so I know if you look at the box score from the South Carolina game the numbers sort of look big for Lenora sellers ignore that that is garbage time and that is a bunch of running back running back was their lean receiver last week so it's a lot of out of structure stuff it's not anything that I would expect to just blindly carry over Lenora sellers 2 and 10 in his last 12 starts against the P4 he just hasn't been good he had a flash on the scene early in his career and we've waited ever since for him to fulfill on or even elevate off of that and it hasn't happened yet and they he's got to turn it loose and that's highly risky but he's got to do it because here's what you do you pop in a tape of Florida State Alabama last week and what you see is you see Duce Robinson go off okay you've got Nick Harbor so you've got an alien at receiver to I don't know how many other facets you can hang your hat on so that's got to at least be attempted like that's got to at least be tried I don't love South Carolina's offensive line specifically the right side against Janze Pierre but this entire Alabama pass rush they got 10 sacks and 40 pressures in three games they've overhauled that entire front you can't really run on them all that well I don't expect South Carolina to have a whole lot of success run of the ball here I think arch manning late against Ohio State is kind of the blueprint once they were finally out of structure off script they just played backyard ball they're trying to catch up with Ohio State that's when he went off. That's when he was in his comfort zone, that may be what you have to do with Lenora sellers here. Bama's getting nowhere Rodgers back, who was their best receiver in spring outside of Ryan Williams. He was their best receiver in spring. They're tied in position. At Alabama has been a revelation. I'd say even Jesse, I'd even say more than running back that tied in room has been the surprise of that team, having said that the running back rooms have been really good. So Alabama's got situations at tail back and tied in and wide receiver where they really have more capable players than they have spots and they have balls to go around. So that's a good problem to have. I really expect an inspired effort from South Carolina. They've shown the ability to start fast, okay? They did it last week. I have shown two times in the last two weeks that they are prone to a slow start. Now the problem is, Alabama has revved the engine the last two weeks and just flown past the competition. South Carolina has perfected the art of the second half implosion. So even if I were to turn this game on and it's 14, nothing, South Carolina, game hasn't even begun yet. And it's kind of rare, but the dichotomy between these two teams lends itself to that. So there's just an opportunity, there's a chance here, Alabama's surging and you're catching them at the exact wrong time. As much as there's the possibility that you're catching South Carolina at the wrong time and they're in a full wounded animal mode, it looks pretty good right now. Fandals got Alabama minus 12 and a half. The model only has Alabama minus 10. I very, very, I don't have a good feel in this game, very slightly would lay the points with Alabama, very slightly. To me, it's a little more likely that that second half for Alabama was probably a sign that they're in surge mode, then it's likely that South Carolina comes in here completely rejuvenated. But if South Carolina did come in here and play an inspired effort or put forth an inspired effort, that wouldn't surprise me at all. They've done it last two years. So we'll see, Friday, before Saturday, we will be live on ESPN from two Eastern to three Eastern on the campus there at the University of Tennessee. We have had really, really good feedback from the high level mustaches at ESPN to the people in the crowd. None of them have mustaches, it's just a fancy term. But I'd love to see a couple of them grow one, probably a side project for the winter. Yeah, not me, not me so much. It comes in blonde and splotchy and white trashy. I can't do it, Jesse. But they can. Anyway, you guys are free to join this. We encourage it. Last week, the Auburn folks showed up and we got a huge viewer base at Tennessee. So I expect you guys out there. Who knows? Pres, maybe even bring a child liar too? We don't know if anyone will learn one, but we could bring one or two with us. So we'll see you there from two to three Eastern and if you're in Washington or somewhere like that and you can't get there in person, just watch on ESPN. Some of you are overreacting. Some of you are badly overreacting to the goings on in college football so far this year. And we have accumulated a few of them, but here's the thing. Not all of them are overreactions because I actually agree with some of these. So let's just take a look at what the people are saying out there on the streets. Michael, first up, he said, "Are you ever going to talk about Notre Dame being overrated or did Marcus Freeman pay you off in the spring?" Absolutely Marcus Freeman paid me off. He gave me money to rate Notre Dame as high as I have. Point blank, full stop, and they should ask questions up there. If the Notre Dame media is worth its salt, they will ask Marcus Freeman about how much he paid me to rank Notre Dame where I've rated them. So since Marcus Freeman paid me money to prop up his team, I'm not going to say they're overrated. Now, has the running back position looked good? Not all that great? No. Has a wide receiver one emerged? Michael Gilbert? That's not the name we expected. Did they run it up on teams? No, man. They were favored by 30 last week and didn't even score 30 against Michigan State. But this team's not overrated because Marcus Freeman paid me to say they're not. So I don't know how this dude found that out, but I've been outed. Here's the real talk. Everybody knew what the deal was with the schedule and what have we seen the last two years? We've seen teams win national titles or get close to it because they perfected the art of peaking at the right time. Notre Dame, here's what I'll bet you. I'll bet you by the time this game against Miami happens. I bet they look a little bit different, Jesse. What do you want to bet? They're running the ball a little bit better. That's just a blind hunch I'm going to play. So I don't think it's overrated. And I think that is an overreaction that they're overrated because I was paid to say that. Next up, who Robert down in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, he said on a scale of one to splattered. How splattered will John Matier be Saturday night? Seems harsh. I mean, this offense hung 14 on New Mexico. They're fine. I don't get what the big deal is. This is not good guys. This is not good. They, they being Oklahoma, sorry, someone asked for a paper pop in the live chat. I'm basically a circus animal out here. Now I just do it over the live chat says, Oklahoma has to go figure their offense out. In Sanford Stadium against Kirby smart, all you can do is pray. That's all you can do. I don't know. I have. I don't know. Jesse, do they have team overunders yet posted? Fandall does that later in the week. They're over a two touchdown underdog in this game. Like at one point, there were people out there circling this as an OU win. People were thinking, man, OU is going to go to Georgia. That's going to be a win right there. It's going to be a hard fought game. That's going to be a win. Oklahoma's team totals 14 and a half this week. How do you not bet the under? And that's even taking into consideration. This is a phenomenal Brent and Vinnables defense defensive scores could factor in brilliant special teams like Oklahoma's pin people inside the five half their punts this year, even with all that to account for points. You got a break plane of the end zone. They're not good at it. So 14 and a half ladies and gentlemen, yeah, I don't know if Matthias is going to get splattered. I mean, maybe enough OU fans will travel and yell at open receivers that he'll hit them. I don't know, but I don't feel good about it. I'll be real with you. Next up, I don't think this one's an overreaction either because I agree with it. Aaron in Atlanta said USC in Oregon, that's a game that neither coach can afford to lose and it's not even close. Okay, it may be close, but I don't think either coach can afford to lose this. Lincoln is in playoff or bust mode. Well, at least we've been led to believe that and I don't think they're going to make the playoff if they lose this game. They're not out of it if they lose this game. What I'm saying is it doesn't bode very well knowing who they have in the future if they lose this game. And if Dan landing loses this game, that's already two losses before October and they've still got to play Ohio State and others, Ohio State and friends on the schedule. So I kind of agree. I'm not prone to this sort of thing, this sort of take in September, but I kind of agree. Of course, crazy or things have happened, USC could lose this game and not lose another game. That could happen, but Jesse is already reliably informed to me that Penn State is going to beat USC. So if we know that's going to happen and then they lose this game, that's already two losses and then USC would still have Ohio State and at Indiana on the road. So what are we looking at, four or five losses by that point? Oh, I still believe in Lincoln though, I still believe in you. Next overreaction, it's not an overreaction, even though I'm going to get excoriated for saying that this isn't an overreaction, will said after that Houston Texas tech game, the big 12's back to being America's conference. You would think that's a compliment and it is except the Texas tech. So what will is saying is what we used to say up until last year about the big 12. I was calling the big 12 America's college football conference because I thought it exhibited most of the characteristics that America claims it wants in a football conference. Pretty, not pretty, highly competitive, loosely balanced in terms of resource up until Texas tech just decided to completely shatter the piggy bank and Texas tech ran away with a league last year. What we'll saying is Texas tech looks like they're vulnerable and they're back to earth a little bit. And even though they beat Houston the other night, Houston looks like a player, tech looks like they're a player. Well, I had the audacity to say this last week before the Houston game. I picked Texas tech to win and Houston to cover. Texas tech proceeded to win the game, but not cover translation, Jesse. I was right. And afterwards I had already gone to bed, unable to defend myself. Friend of the program, I think Joy McGuire had this to say. Get into questions. I like think Josh Pate Keep it up paid like he's my buddy and everything but keep picking against this man I appreciate that you say that that He's watched this last couple weeks, and we don't look the same. We don't look the same, but we're three, you know Jesse Where was I wrong Where am I ever wrong? Don't answer. Where was I wrong? I wasn't But you know what Joey McGuire's right he is a buddy of mine and If I have to get thrown under the proverbial bus to help Texas Tech win if all that portal money has not come through and They still need a little something extra and I am the extra. That's fine. That's fine. Here's what needs to happen Jesse Cody Campbell needs not forget that come seasons end Okay, Venmo's right here. So let's just make sure if I'm contributing out there Joey It's not your money just make sure some of it gets kicked this way and I will prompt I'll probably just distribute it amongst the staff. I would never keep that for myself. You know that Jesse I would never keep that for myself The big 12 is wide open. Don't you feel like I mean Texas Tech's favorite still that's fine But remember what these odds look like in preseason. It was Texas Tech and then it was a grand canyon and then another Fairly good sized canyon. Maybe the little grand canyon near Columbus and then it was the field and now it's like Brigham Young's right in the rear view mirror you toss in the rear view mirror Houston lost and they're still there Is Kenny Dillingham back from London? Do we know they're back? Okay, they did make it back. That's good. Yeah, they're in the mix Kansas states in the mix So that's what you get for telling the truth kids. They tell you it always pays to be honest Not in college football Fan dual the exclusive odds provider of the show. I'm adding two more games here old dominion We're going back to the old dominion well. Press hates this because they're playing J.M. You Press J.M. You basically played in Australia last week.
