get their money back um you've got Sam Levitt is he doubtful he is on the LSU injury list is doubtful a lot of people say that's just lane kiffin playing lane kiffin games to Ole Miss fans I would say my god you love those games when he was your coach boy oh boy did you suck that shit up when he was your coach but now it's happening to you we'll see is lane just playing or is levitt doubtful is lane just playing or we're gonna see landing Clark is lane just playing or is landing Clark the guy he wanted all along I don't know I know this lane kiffin is somewhere enjoying the shit out of this right now he's enjoying the shit storm that he is creating and this is going to be a huge game Saturday night Liam when you saw Sam Levitt on the doubtful this yesterday what was your first thought far from what anyone else thought my first thought was I can't wait to see land in Clark play football I guess it's just because I'm such a good genuine human being that I take everyone for their truth and nothing but the truth I never once thought there was any malpractice going on which of course there can be but me to my core never once believed Sam Levitt's faking injury lane kiffin's playing a mind game I truly believe that Sam Levitt is dealing with something I truly believe brand that this is at the very at the very least of no injury a soft benching and that lane is getting his guy at quarterback so what you also believe and this is what you believe even more is that land in Clark is a better QB1 than than Sam Levitt for unless you I think he's a much better thrower the football and you and I talked on this show through two weeks even against losing an attack Sam Levitt wasn't throwing the ball well he was running the ball very effectively well land could also run the ball land is a better throw a thrower a better processor anticipator layer were of the football Sam Levitt is not the man that he was two years ago at ASU when he was thriving on the scene there's a reason that lane kiffin prepared for a moment like this where he brings in land in Clark for about 500 K where he brings in he's done long story for about two million the future of Alice you we believe there's a he's so calculated there's a reason all these dominoes fallen where they're in the first place what do you believe about my galaxy brain take that this was a Trojan horse all alone that eight months ago lane kiffin knew that that that land in Clark was his QB1 he was going to pull the exact same thing he did with Trinajad Chambliss when Austin Simmons went out and the world was about to fall around or Ole Miss Trinajad Chambliss rides him from division two and is the hero and now he got the hero first and then Sam Levitt is the Trojan horse that gets through the first two games and land in Clark is the one who goes into Ole Miss it's a fascinating thought that I hadn't considered I had seen you I saw this about 20 minutes ago your clip from mostly is a very fascinating thought where my mind immediately goes is the basketball game the Aussie basketball game where lane kiffin is sitting next to Sam Levitt and during that time during that those two have a basketball lane kiffin is on his phone to sell your device and he is talking to the mod Williams about coming the play for I'll see you sure so in that moment we knew Sam Levitt probably isn't lane kiffin's guy so your theory yeah maybe it does have some legs So, you know, we can get bogged down in this. We can get bogged down on his, uh, his, his, his, his bowl shit and we can get bogged down on the, the atrix. What I can't get past is, you know, I think Lane Kiff and an LSU coaching staff are better than Pete Golding and his Ole Miss coaching staff. I think that Jameless is a terrific player, a terrific, uh, you know, improviser, but his coach, the coach, the coach is that really unlocked him or on the other side. And I just can't get past the world where Lane Kiff and one of the great offensive schemers, one of the great offensive plate callers of our time. Watch that Louisville second half, watch Lincoln, Keen Holtz, that passing game in, that Russian game just go right up and down the field as Ole Miss kept having, uh, breakdowns of communication. What do you think Lane Kiff and what's thinking about that as good as Trentide Jameless is, the Ole Miss defense is 108th in the country and total defense right now. That's a bad recipe to be playing Lane Kiff and man and Lane's also been in the mud before. They can say what they want, they can scream what they want, they're not going to scare Lane Kiff and he's gone through this shit before. So I don't know. I'm almost to the point where the state of Mississippi beating Lane Kiff and would be entertaining to me, but I just, Lane's the much better football coach. And I don't know if I can get past that. I think Ole Miss has just a few of the players and the better quarterback, but boy, I would be hard pressed to bet against Lane Kiff in this scenario. No matter what happens man, this hopefully is the most exciting game that we get to witness all season. Hopefully it's as good as we are building it up to me. Hopefully it doesn't fall flat. Hopefully both team score 40 plus are racing up and down the field quarterback. Whoever it is for us, you and Trentide, are layering, are throwing Dodd after Dodd after Dodd. The rung games are affecting the offense line, they're both the pastors and hopefully this is the best played game in the best possible atmosphere possible. Liam, I don't think it's going to be a fourth quarter game. I got this sense that one of them is going to feast on the crowd. Maybe it's Ole Miss and one of them is going to feast on the crowd, one of them is going to feast on the opportunities and more so the other one is going to sit down their leg early and I just feel like somebody is going to crumble under the pressure. It's either Ole Miss or TLSU. Obviously the road team is more likely to crumble under the weight of the crowd, but Ole Miss has crippling pressure as well. I think somebody collapses early under the pressure, maybe a couple early turnovers and they're looking up all day and I don't know if this environment supports a fourth quarter last minute war. That's all I'm saying. So you guys someone fallen behind in the crown the entire game and maybe they're making a runner too but they don't have enough juice to get fully back into it. We have the mid afternoon games and we have the late slate games. Um, but also I would be remiss if we didn't talk about. It's not on here because it's Friday night, but Texas Tech Houston's a massive early season game in the big 12. Uh, this is more about Texas Tech than Houston. They just haven't looked up to what I thought they were going to be so far. It feels like the defenses come down to the pack a little bit in the gap between Texas Tech and the rest of the big 12 seems to have either shrunk or it's gone entirely. We see Friday night. What, what's your read on that one? Liam Blutman. I, we talk about this is on the Barcelona College football show. I like to expect in tech sex to be like minus four and a half seven and a half. The feels have a trap. I'm also thinking rationally brained. They, they, they, they, they tried to get like well, Hammond was never the quarterback, right? And now time and Cassie also. They didn't want well, Hammond to be their quarterback. Exactly. So now there, there is, they could deny it or not. They are playing two core backs. They are on the field at the same time at times. They don't have a true bonafide QB1. That will always scare me. Houston knows what they've got. They have a very talented backup, by the way. But I love the Houston receiving core. And I think that'll be the difference in this game. I like Houston. I think in the close one, dude, like 27 or yeah, I like Houston a lot. I, there has to be change in this conference at some point, right? And if we keep talking about, if we keep talking about this, I understand, but we keep talking about how the gap has shrunk. And if it's not there, then seven and a half is way too much. But shrunk and disappear two different things. And it's not like Texas Tech has dominated this conference for 15 years and we need to have changed. I mean, they're in the middle of a run that could be two or three years long. Of course. I don't mean to act like that is, but we talk about like it is. You know what I'm saying? We talk about like Texas Tech's reign in the big 12 has been this daunting dark cloud for a decade and a half when it just hasn't been. All right, bring up the early slate for Saturday because this is where like in that game. I think I like Texas Tech to kind of assert themselves. I was on Houston all, all summer to be a surprise team out there. I think too many people are going to be a surprise team. They can't be a surprise anymore. But I don't know. It's not like Houston opened with Oregon States. Not like they look like a million bucks against Oregon State either. Like they look fine. But like there wasn't that big of a difference in their performances against Oregon State to me. So, so bring up the early slate here. So we got and this is hopefully the last Saturday we have to deal with this. It ain't a great, it ain't a great group of games on paper. And early, don't even have an SEC game here. I think George Arkansas is the early SEC game. You got North Carolina Clemson. You got Arizona State Kansas and London. You got NC State Vanderbilt right there. North Carolina Clemson to me is hilarious because it's still falling on part of the seams at Carolina behind the scenes with Steve Bella check doing what he's doing. And you still got the Lombardi thing. And they got a chance to be 3 and 0 after a road trip to Clemson. Can you imagine you imagine that Liam? They just if all of a sudden North Carolina with all the crap that we talk about them in Bella check and they're 3 and 0. That's spread being right. Yes says everything about where this Clemson program is at. It 100. It 100% does. But like if North Carolina wins this, we got to start talking about North Carolina. North Carolina talking about UNC's win total right now. It's five and a half still. If they if they were to go 3 and 0, we up it to 6 and a half. Now now somebody says no better games than these. Not in the morning. The dude in the in the early in the morning on Saturday. Listen, if you were ever going to spend one more Saturday doing a little bit of air and a playing golf, it would be this Saturday to get it done for like noon or something because next week is loaded. And I think it's loaded from here on out because the big 10's going to the big 10's basically just sitting this fucking week out. They they are. They will come when the SEC sits out week 11, the big 10 will be like, look at the SEC. Well, week three. SEC's got Ole Miss LSU. It's got South Carolina. Mississippi State. It's got Florida Auburn. And in week three, the big 10 has the biggest collection of dipshits I've ever seen a conference have. So other than Michigan State playing an overday, maybe a couple more. Saturday morning is perfect for it guys like you and I that take our wives out early, go to the pumpkin patch or whatever. Treat them nice, wine and dine them and then ball all day. We don't take George's mother in Arkansas. You got to take the kids to the trampoline park. I don't got the kids yet. Well, you don't have a wife. You're doing a joke. No, the kids are with the X. How come in here? How come your joke counts where you you're talking about your wife, but when I had kids do it, it doesn't count because it's like that's a sense of the vary on the hypothetical. We got ASU Kansas in London, Big Ben, and you're talking about hypothetical kids grow up. Gerard says SEC Cupcake week was last week. Yeah, Ohio State and Texas, Oklahoma and Michigan. yeah, if that was if that was cupcake week, I don't know what to tell you. Um, let's go to the 230 slate because here's where some of my categorical games come in, right? So, so, so we have SMU at Louisville. Uh, we have Mississippi State, South Carolina. We have, uh, Florida State, Alabama there, but then you got a couple more that even I like, um, but I think SMU Louisville is the marquee game of not only that window, it might end up being the marquee game of the day because the ACC, it's Miami and everybody else right now. But we find out who the top of everybody else is on Saturday. We find out if if, if, uh, the, the category I'm covering here is my player to watch because I think it's Kevin Jennings. I think it's the quarterback going to Louisville. He's a little mistake prone, but when he's not making mistakes, he's goddamn electric. And if they're going to win the game, he needs to, he needs to like a count for like 400 yards or maybe 350, three or four touchdowns and just go win the game on his own with his legs, with his arm and not make mistakes. That's my player to watch. If Kevin Jennings brings it, they can win this game. If he doesn't, they're not even going to be close because I think Louisville is a very good team. Thoughts Liam. Interesting. My player to watch, of course, is, uh, Louisville ed drusher AJ green who I expect to have a very big season. Louisville past rush is very good. They're not getting to the quarterback yet. They have just one sack through the two games. They struggled. Obviously you got to train that that kick is scape anything. So I like the matchup of SMU's offensive line. Kevin Jennings escape ability against the Louisville past rush. I expect Louisville to get to the quarterback a whole lot more and create turnovers and force mistakes. Once again, you have Mississippi State South Carolina there, which I'm terrified of again. It's a road game. It's, uh, Camaro Taylor Taylor's first road. SEC started. He's been electric so far, but I have a lot of respect for South Carolina. I had them in the top 25 to begin the preseason. I see no reason to move them. I think they got a lot of dudes. I'm terrified of that game. I'm not going to sit here and predict Mississippi State win because I think South Carolina is a really good football team. So, so that's what I say about that game. And then Florida State Alabama will just be absolutely hilarious if Florida State were to beat Alabama again. Not going to happen. And Alabama sneaky as all as a lot of other SEC teams kind of getting the mix here, get, get their hands dirty in the mud. Alabama seems to be just kind of floating a little bit, putting together and they, and they have one of the easier schedules in the SEC. Alabama is worth watching as far as, you know, somebody who's just kind of on the periphery right now as everybody else hits the spotlight games and look out because the tide will be something to deal with later. I think sneaky game of the week is Florida, Florida and Auburn. It's so big. Two new coaches, you know, Brian Brown over there at Auburn. I don't know if he's an SEC quarterback. We're going to find out real quick. It's a pretty good defense for Florida. It's an elite defense, I think for Auburn. It's an elite running back for Florida. It's a good quarterback for Florida. It's a great receiver room for Florida. I, I like Florida to go in there and win this game. I like Florida to start the season. Maybe six in the oak because they might be picking the bones of Ole Miss next week, whether they're coming off a win or a loss. I, I don't know. I just like Florida. I like summer all a little bit better and I like goal. I should Auburn. I like Florida in this one as well. I don't think I like Byron Brown. I like him as a player. He's nine SEC level quarterback. I like Aaron Filo a lot as they will bring him up a few times in the off season. I think that there's a lot to like about his arm. I'm excited to see him against a very good Auburn defense. And then Jayden Ball, his lateral cut is one of the most effective moves and football to channel my inner Troy Ackman. Yeah, he's really, really fucking good. I have a couple of under the radar games Saturday night and they're both from the state of Virginia. Virginia Tech at Maryland to two and O teams. Maryland, I think, is saltier than people are getting credit for. And then West Virginia at at Virginia. I think Virginia is legit. If they like smoke West Virginia, like this is a legit top 12, top 15 team. Yeah, a legit football team of Virginia. That game is in Charlotte. Okay, Charlotte, then what did I say it was in Virginia? I think he said average. Yeah, that's a Duke's Mayo classic. I thought I said both games involved Virginia to state of Virginia. Maybe I'm tripping, but I don't think I am. Well, maybe you're not tripping. Somebody's tripping though. And maybe I'm tripping. I could be tripping. Anyway, I have, I don't have an upset alert of this week. I have a stupid upset alert. Okay, normally I look at the slate and I see a team in the top 25 that should be on high alert. They're going to get beat. I don't say don't see it this week. I was, I was trying to see it with Alabama and in four state. I don't see it. I don't see it with like A&M Kentucky. I just, I just don't really see it. I don't, I don't see a top 25 team. I know today I'm playing Michigan state. I will play in who northern Iowa, like BYU Colorado state. I almost made that one my upset alert, but I just don't feel that in my, in my plums. So I changed the category, Liam. Knowing that last year, Florida state beat Alabama and one of the dumber upset you'll ever see. Knowing that last week, Oklahoma state beat Oregon and one of the stupidest upsets you'll ever see. Nobody picked it. Nobody would have picked it. Nobody thought to pick it. I said, what would be the stupidest outcome? What would be a week? It won't be a game that if it went the other way, it would be the dumbest, stupidest. Nobody saw it coming. Oh my God. What the fuck is this sport outcome? What do you think? What do you think that game is for me? The stupidest upset that could happen. I know where my mind went. I don't know where your mind was. Imagine a world. 10. It isn't a big 10. It's. Imagine a world. Imagine a world where Rutgers starts the season. Oh, and two in the fashion. They've started the season. Oh, and two losing to UMass, losing to Boston college. And this, the stupidest thing that could happen in football would be Rutgers beating USC. USC who looks like they're about to trying to join the elite of the elites in the big 10. They've got Oregon next week. I believe unbelievable. If that were to happen, that would be the stupidest thing that could possibly happen. And cost of all, sometimes gives you the dumbest thing that could possibly happen. That's not where I was going. That's not where I thought you were going to go. But wearing what I'm wearing, I would be remiss if I didn't admit. I've had this thought once, twice, maybe three times this week, where KJ doff is just hauling in a massive touchdown in the late fourth quarter. And I don't know what the score is in my mind, but it feels significant. Don't get it twisted, guys. It ain't going to happen. And I'm not going to have no shot. What I'm saying is, what would be the stupidest upset of the week? That would be the stupidest upset of the week. That would be in that's hard to beat. This series is 6167 in favor of SINCE. I think it's an 18.5 point spread. It's the longest. It's the oldest non-conference rivalry and college football been going on since 1888. Victory Bell on the line. I think Miami of Ohio is a much better team than they showed against pit in week one. That's a good, heatful game. Somebody says Michigan State beating Notre Dame would also be stupid. Gulf Coast Tigers says that. That fits the category. I saw some other stuff, but yeah. So here we go. Let's go right to it. LSU, Ole Miss, hatred, vitriol, everything you can imagine. Do you think Lane's playing games with this quarterback thing and the doubtful list, or what do you think about that? So that was my first note because you told me, hey, we might hit on these things. Sure. And I saw that today and I'm just like, Lane's just trying to play some 3D chess. I think people, I think people see through it. And I think, you know, Pete and the defensive staff and Oxford kind of see through it. But yeah, I think it's a, a ruse. But the same lebiquit. He's a really good player, man. Well, let's talk X's and knows because I was watching that LSU. I know that Ole Miss Louisville game start the season and Louisville scored a lot of points in the second half. A lot of defensive breakdowns. Secondary there for Ole Miss. And I don't know if I know a coach as good at creating open receivers and defensive mismatches than Lane Kiffin. What do you think Lane's going to try to do after watching that film of the first Ole Miss game? Yeah, so I think the biggest thing that he goes back to his experience with Coach Sabin and going against Pete there and against Pete for the however many years they were together in Oxford is it's going to be the motion and shift fest, which wasn't necessarily part of what they were doing in Oxford. But I think when they rolled in to Oxford this time with the LSU Tigers, it's going to be a motion fest, a shift fest because there's so much communication on the back end and a Pete Golding, Nick Sabin defense and you're just going to see the ultimate moving of people around to get mass communication and hopefully some confusion and some busted coverages and try to exploit that. So you said Lane didn't really do that in Oxford. for why would he add that in the offseason to go to more motions and shifts? - Yeah, so I've studied the first two games, and I think the skill set of Sam Levit, I think they've got a trade-as-green who, I can't believe he's not a household name, I might now that tight end number seven. I mean, in my opinion, he's one of the top 10 players in all college football. So just trying to figure out ways to manipulate matchups for that kid, you can't just go super fast all the time, line up in the same formation all the time, you've got to be able to move him around, manipulate the matchup that he's going to go against, and then have time to exploit it, where if you're just going fast all the time, - Yeah, that progression isn't happening. - So at the same time, Lane is going to be going up against Tridado Chamblest, the guy that, you know, one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Now, Lane was calling the shots for him, Lane and other wise union were calling the shots for him last year. Now, you've got to think Lane's in the year of LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker. What do you think they do to try to either confuse or just slow down Tridado Chamblest? What would you do if it was your former quarterback and now you had to stop him? - Right, so that one of the, and I don't want to geek out too much on the schematics, please peek out. - Please peek out. Okay, love it, okay. So a lot of times they'll get into 10 personnel sets, which means it's four wide receivers, and if they're in a two by two set, I would bring the willy backer, have some layered past rush inside, but whatever side of the pressure you're coming from, and I think Louisiana Tech did this very well against Sam Levitt is keep a high wall, a non-aggressive ruster, just waiting to collect the sack. You know, 'cause you can't just force him to run, and then he just doesn't express himself, you've got to force him to where you want him to escape, and then just have a trap waiting on him. So two by two, I'd bring the willy three by one, and I find a way to send the mic, and then play some kind of fire zone in three by one, and try to play some kind of half cover zero, half kind of zone quarters to two by two. They will never let, they get into the 20 pictures, where there's a tight-in and a yo, so there's two backs in the back field. I'd run some kind of internal pressure, and have a max quarters concept, a lot like Kirby and Glinch human, do it Georgia. So just having that as a blister formation kind of deal, I think that would give Trinidad some fits. Coach, that's exactly what I was gonna do. I was gonna do the exact same thing. I was gonna bring the willy in the yo, and I was gonna do the quarters, and I was gonna do everything you just said. But it is an interesting point. You did bring up, so instead of just, instead of rushing the passer, and hoping your pass rush gets home, they want to create a situation where they squeezed him into a box, and they got somebody waiting in that box. That's, I haven't thought about that. Go ahead. - The non-pressure, so that's bringing pressure. The non-pressure is you have to get, 'cause Trinidad's really good. If he knows where to go to the ball, he is elite, but if Blake on the back end can present some things unfold into something completely different, schematically and coverage wise, then you're just rushing four, sometimes even three, but the thing you've gotta do to Trinidad, is you have to rush from a cover me standpoint. So if you've got a D in and D tackling one side, one of you just gets to cut it loose and express yourself while the other one is kind of having a passive rush to kind of cover for one, and you can switch that up inside, outside, right left, and I think they need to do that while they're constantly mixing up the look, pre-snap for the kid. - Just from a general sense. A general sense, not even getting to the X's nose, but when a guy like Lane Kiffin leaves, and he goes to a new place and the new place has to come, where would you say the advantage would be? Would it be the coach who's leaving and coming back and playing a team he's very familiar with, or would it be the team that has the great quarterback? Do you think there's an advantage inherently in there somewhere? - So I've experienced it myself. So I took, I was the head coach at Temple, we had a great run, I take the Georgia Tech head job. I think it was week two or week three. I'd have been week three, we had to roll back into Philly and play my Temple owls. Coach, that was the worst experience of my life. And I know the way people leave, I think I tried to leave a little bit better, have a better breakup than I think Lane has had. And I just, the team that is welcoming, and I don't know how welcoming it's going to be, but the team that's hosting the former coach, I think they have the advantage, as long as Brandon, the team can handle it. Like the fans are gonna be nuts. Like you've been to egg bowls, in Starville you've been to egg bowls, in Oxford, and it's a different animal. Brandon, this thing's gonna be like a hundred egg bowls, rolled into one, but the key is, and the thing that I'm gonna watch for is the penalties in the first quarter. If Ole Miss is having a ton of penalties in the first quarter, they've kind of pulled in, and they're losing their minds too. But if they can keep composed, while Ole Miss, she was having a lot of penalties, I think that's gonna be the tell of the game early on, 'cause we all know pre-game is going to be absolutely bonkers. And if I'm Lane Kiffin, I stay in until the handshake. - Yeah, I mean, you coached in what, four egg bowls. So you would have gone into Oxford twice, and walked out the tunnel to watch your guys warm up and everything, and you know how nasty that was, and this will be 1,000 sons brighter than that. - Coach, I've been called names in Vault Hemingway Stadium that I've never been called in my life, and the crazy thing is, I've gone into Vault Hemingway as an Alabama coach, nothing. I've gone into there with, as a South Carolina coach. Pre-game, they made fun of my little skinny pants, but half those fat kids were wearing skinny pants there too, so I don't know what they were making fun of, but going in as a Mississippi State coach, or LSU this weekend, it's gonna be us. - Well, I gotta ask you, if I wouldn't be doing my job, I didn't ask you how skinny were the pants. - They were pretty skinny back there. I wear a tight pants, they're random. - I wanna go to a couple other teams and games, and then I won't take up too much of your time. Once again, check out the Coach Collins Show on YouTube. He does shit like this. He just mentioned geeking out. That was an incredible football ball talk right there. He does that kind of shit on his channel. I wanna go to the Oregon Ducks. - Okay. - They came in, I picked them to win the national title. I saw a first round quarterback coming back. I saw a first round talent across the defense coming back. I saw him invest in the team and bringing back so many players. They did have two new coordinators, but now you're seeing they're one and one, they lost Oklahoma State, and there's a lot of troubling footage out there, a lot of troubling film that maybe Dante Moore was tipping his plays. And I don't really, you know, I'm not gonna get into, was he or was he or not, but I would be troubled if I have a coaching staff on my side, and they don't notice our quarterback is tipping plays. What is your stance on that? What, as a defensive play call, for as long as I was? - Yeah. - Those are the first things you look at. How can you give your defensive line? And really your linebackers, they're having to suck up on play action. How can you find tells? So the quality control, the entire week before is gathering in tell, watching all the footage, trying to find those tells. And then once you find them, once they're confirmed, I mean, it's, I mean, you can see my defenses, even, remember, Beniquiz Brown? - I do, Florence Alabama. - 'Cause he was, he would be pointing the ground versus run, doing this for the secondary versus pass when we had tells. And when you give those things away, the thing that has to happen, if you're any team, but the Oregon Ducks, since we're talking about them, someone on the offensive side of the ball, at that place needs the quality control that as well. 'Cause that cannot, you know, I saw the couple of flips, I didn't go study it. But when the quarterback's feet are like this, it's a pass, quarterbacks feet are balanced and squared, it's a run. That's one of the first things you look for as a defensive dude. - That's elementary shit right there. And it's shocking to me they didn't find it. Now, they brought so much talent back, Dan Lennon is, of course, the coach there. And they were changing the coordinators. Two new coordinators, offensive coordinator and new defensive coordinator. Now, you have been a head coach, you have been a coordinator. How, how tough is it to come with two new coordinators into a season? But, I almost don't even wanna say it's tough, 'cause they have so much talent. But what am I missing? Why has it been this hard this fast? - But I think one of the pieces is, I think some of them were just promoted from within. - Sure. - So that transition should have been easier, right? And I think one of the things like the, the Boise State, Oregon matchup, that's always, that's always tough, right? They play them close and all those kind of things. The other piece psychologically, that I don't think they fixed before they went to Tokyo State, Oklahoma State lost to Tulsa and inferior group of six opponent. Then the year before, Oregon and beat Oklahoma State by 60. So just your natural mindset, if you're a player, as a coach, you know, it's a dog fight every time, but just human nature, you've gotta battle that before, you go into still water, and I don't know that they did that. Now, those players gave them enough ammunition that they're gonna get that shit corrected if I can cuss on here. But, damn, the crew is gonna get that fixed. - Buddy, you can cuss on here. I promise you. So, one last guy I wanted to ask you about, 'cause he was the big star last weekend. Archmaning, you know, questionable star last season. It took him a little bit to get going. He finally did get going. Then he comes into this year, has a gigantic game against Ohio State in week two. You know, it's a struggle in the first half. Him and receivers can't really get on the same page. And then the fourth quarter, he's excellent. They come back, they win the game. What have you seen out of Archmaning, taking the steps as a starter in year two? Yeah, so I did two weeks on my show. kind of breaking down arch and Texas and all those things and on the Coach Collins show I broke down the entire last drive but I think early on you could feel the sense when they the Texas receivers and the running backs and tights were dropping balls left and right. And you kind of saw orps kind of go into himself and not you know it creates doubt. I mean there's a ridiculously good defense on the other side and you're throwing dimes at kids and they're just dropping them left and right and I think he went inside of himself in the third quarter kind of got out of it and then the fourth quarter he just said screw it and unleash tell on him and had a ridiculous fourth quarter it was it was impressive and the kids started catching the ball too which helps. Yeah the whole team started playing well it just seemed like they finally realized all right well it's 23 to three fuck it that's what they said if I can cuss on there and guess what I can I pay the bills. But anyway I want to ask you about one more game I didn't put this on your prep sheet but I'm sure you can answer this very elementary question over an Auburn Alabama it's going to be goalish now I'm asking about two more games over an Alabama it's going to be goalish and some are all both in their first big games I guess Auburn played Baylor to start the season but for some role they're going on the road for goalish they're both coming up from the group of five level huge gigantic game have you had a chance to look at these two teams and you have a chance to look at these two coaches and what we might expect. So and I went to pre you saw the road trip I went on their preseason I had 30 camps in 20 days and coach I went to John Somerall's camp at the Florida Gators. He's a dude right coach he's a freaking dude man yeah and I mean a ball coach and we get they got done with practice and most of these coaches do these fancy and I can be called out too because I did it you give some little sexy little speech after the thing get it post it on social media whatever John Somerall lays into him for about three minutes drops the mic walks off the field and I'm like and I thought it was a pretty good practice but coach he is a dude and I think him and Alex goalish because I think everybody in the media and I guess I'm now part of that that ecosystem now understands the Florida all the periphery at that place Auburn we all understand all the things that happen around with boot all those things. It doesn't seem like John Somerall or Alex goalish really care about any of that they just want to coach their team be physical be tough be violent put a great product on the field and they're not getting caught up in all of that stuff and I've been a heck of two different places and I'll be honest there are times I got caught up in it they don't seem like they care they just want to put the ball down and go smash them heads. I agree and they're also refusing to play paddy cake with each other in the media I don't know if you saw that like goalish is like I yeah we're not friends this week and the other guys like yeah if I got family that wasn't Auburn fan they better not be an Auburn fan anymore they're not my family so I kind of like I think that's such a sneaky gigantic game over there in the SEC I know LSU and Ole Miss get the headlines and the highlights and all that but whoo that's going to be a hell of a game now last game I'll ask you yeah you were at Mississippi State when a young man named Dak Prescott was the quarterback the best the fucking best now they got another guy I don't know if you've seen him his name's Camario Taylor and talk me off the mountain top because I'm ready to fly and soar over the valleys like with an Eagles wings just happy as a lark about what I've got at quarterback you've watched him you've seen him are we hyping him up too much or what well just behind me you see my games especially one that doesn't involve your marquee teams like your Ohio State your Georgia's your Alabama's uh this is this is the big one and here we are early in the season um what's your what's your read on it so far uh if Ole Misses defense plays anything like they did against Louisville with the amount of busted coverages and misalignments and just guys trying to communicate as the ball is snapped like they're they're going to be in trouble on Saturday night um I'm actually going to this one Brandon and I am terrified I have never been scared to go to college football game I'm legitimately nervous about the the level of uh of velocity and energy and uh vitriol that is going to come out uh on Saturday night inside this place um so I'm half excited half terrified might bring a helmet I'm on the field the whole game and I don't know we'll see but no I I think it's uh it's an offensive football game uh what we'll see who can ultimately outscore the other one I think that's what we got going on yeah you said a couple things there number one I think this would be the most hatred in any football game in in in in this century um I was thinking to when Lane with Ole Miss returned to Knoxville a couple of years ago he returned to Knoxville and they were throwing stuff at him and they had they absolutely hated him that was over a decade after he left this is three games after he left this is immediate uh the the scar tissue isn't even forming yet we're already taking the bandaid off and saying let here it is um so so there's that but I can't escape when thinking about handicap in this game and thinking about what this game put in fold I can't escape the thought of that Sunday night after LSU beat Clemson to sleep 51 to 10 or whatever it was he's sitting down and he's watching an Ole Miss defense that can't put two and two together that can't uh can't cover Louisville's receivers that can't figure out when they're gonna run can't figure out anything and I don't think anybody schemes open receivers like Lane Kiffon I don't think anybody schemes uh plays where you're like the wow the defense didn't see that coming I think anybody does it as well as Lane Kiffon and Charlie Wise Jr so you tell me the scenario where Ole Miss defense can contain them uh pressure and Sam Levitt being Sam Levitt sure uh fun stat for you Sam Levitt has four interceptions in two games at LSU Trinidad Chambers has four interceptions is in his entire Ole Miss career that's crazy so there there is an opportunity here where Ole Miss gets a couple of possessions for free um I also don't know if like there's enough weaponry outside the numbers like Winston Watkins is great Trudez Green is great but can they eliminate the the outside edges of the field uh against this LSU offense I think there is a possibility for that um I was surprised when I turned the Louisiana Tech tape on to see lot tech point as much man to man coverage as they did basically saying like we can cover you guys I'm not worried about it we're gonna send five we're gonna cover you guys uh for the majority of this first half now the problem with Lane and Charlie is that you can't just throw one thing at him even if it's working you can't just stay in it they'll find the answers to it eventually um and that's what happened in that football game last weekend but the the recipe for Ole Miss football like defensive success is hoping that Sam Levitt continues to be Sam Levitt which I was a little bit taken a back that he performed as smoothly as he did in week one um I think that just goes to show just how bad uh Clemson is and they just they kept getting opportunities at it because Clemson kept going three and out I haven't seen an offense that bad in powerful football against a premier opponent in a long time they look completely unprepared on both sides of the football. A lot of discussion about this online which one has more pressure LSU or OMS I maintain uh the Ole Miss is the one facing the pressure here that they need to win the breakup that it's Lane that left them and they got approved that they can keep doing this thing but there is another school of thought that Lane's the one that left and he needs to prove that he is better than the Ole Miss job and that he has gone on to bigger better things which side would you say has more pressure on him? I lean towards Lane uh but honestly, I think that's where he wants to be. - Yeah. - I talked to a buddy about this the other day. I think Lane wants to be hated. I think Lane wants the world to count him out. I think Lane, it's something inside him like makes him want to be an underdog, despite the fact that he's been way ahead of schedule from an opportunity standpoint since birth. - Yeah. - I mean, his dad's one of the greatest defensive coordinators of all time. I think there's this like inherent need to feel people want you to, you know, fail. I don't know what that is, but I think he revels in that whereas I don't know about Pete, but I also think Pete has like this level of grace because he stayed, right? Because he was the dad that stepped up when he needed to, right? Like I think there's gonna be a level of grace here with Ole Miss fans with him. Now you can't go seven and five with this roster, but if you go nine and three, eight and four, I don't think they're like calling into question whether or not you're the right guy. If you do that at LSU, maybe they won't do it to you, but nationally we will because you left 18 that was on their way to being a snap away from a national championship opportunity last year, a couple of snaps away. To go take a job where you admitted, you think that place is easier to win a national title. So you better do it. You better do it pretty soon. - So I think Pete Golding has seven days of grace. I think he's got this game here and then he's gonna have to figure out a way to either get his team to come off an emotional win or an emotional loss and then go to Gainesville next week to a team that's gonna be laying and waiting. And if he were to go, if he were to be two and two after next week's trip to Gainesville, grace is gone. Bye, bye, Grace. But I want to transition to that game because I know LSU and Ole Miss is the marquee game 'cause of the hatred and the lights and everything, it's gonna be incredible. But sneaky, there's a couple of other SEC matchups just laying there. Florida Auburn is so goddamn important. For these first year coaches, one of these first year coaches is coming out of their three, you know, either some are all are goalish. One of these coaches is coming out there feeling good and one of these coaches is coming out of there and the honeymoon phase ends real quick for him. I think this is pound for pound as big a matchup as we have at LSU Ole Miss. What are your thoughts on Florida and Auburn? - Yeah, I think Florida is one of these offenses this year in this conference with Buster Faulkner, Philo is playing it at a really high rate and it really always has. Like if you even watch his Georgia Tech take, he's playing the position at a really high rate. But they're weaponry, right? Vernille Brown, Dallas Wilson, Singleton's probably not gonna play in this football game, but they got this other guy number four. I think the world's gonna find out about this weekend. I think Florida is one of these football teams that you're gonna have to outscore. You're gonna have to score more than 28 points to beat them. I don't think you're gonna get Florida's offense this year into some kind of rock fight and I didn't even mention Jayden Ball. And I'll give you credit, man. Like I am a ball-nower, you happen to know Ball as well. You were on this train early with me on this Florida Gators football team. They were always immensely talented. They were always a football team that had tremendous dudes over there on the sideline. They just had not a lick worth a coach in. And now Brad White doesn't get enough credit for how good of a defensive coordinator he is. Some are all as a great head coach, I think, or is on the track to be that. And Buster Faulkner's top three, top five offense coordinator in the sport. You pair talent with coaching. You should get really good results. I put the floor this year for them at eight and four. I've got them winning in Auburn this weekend, but I do think, man, I think that place is still scary to play at. Especially in your first road SEC start. I think it's one thing to have to play at Virginia Tech and some mop up duty. It's another thing to have to play in hard rock stadium and some mop up duty against Miami. So another game to have to play in Jordan here at night. So we got to bring you on the carpet a little bit because you joined Josh Pate in the club of, there's just no trust tree with you guys. I texted Pate last week about it being nervous about the Minnesota game and he, he took my text and put them on a show and put them on blast. And then today on Twitter, you just, you take my tweet, you take my text message, my very personal text message to you where I said, you said, how much would you pay of Camario's salary to keep him? I said half my salary. And then you just put that all over the internet. So now the entire internet knows half my salaries at stake are for the rest of the season with Camario Taylor. - Well, a couple of things here. I don't think anybody thought I was being serious until you just confirmed it, first and foremost. - Sure. - Secondly, if you watched the film got network on a nightly basis like everyone listening to the sound of my voice should be doing. - Yes. - You would have found out that I outed you last night on the show, not even today on Twitter. And thirdly, I thought it was more of a compliment to your affinity to let everybody know that you make a lot of money. - Sure. - I mean, half of your salary covering all eight millions of Camario Taylor's required cost next year to keep him in Mississippi State. Can I borrow a dollar? - By the way, please. - The secret's out on that motherfucker, man. The secret, it was always gonna be hard to keep. And you know, the Manning Passing Academy kind of blew the cover off of the thing. But this is beyond what I thought was gonna happen. And now I am again nervous about South Carolina because Lenora Sellers is every bit the quarterback and athlete, maybe not the throwing quarterback, but he's ever bit the star that Camario Taylor can be. And then you got South Carolina, which I think they're a top 25 team. So that one, I don't want to waste your time with that one. I got bigger fish to fry as far as questions here. Oregon, okay. The Oregon Ducks lost Oklahoma State last week. And now you're seeing everybody in the media and online and people come out and say, well, Dante Moore is giving away this place, giving away that play. It's easy to figure out what they're doing. And you, I believe you said a couple of weeks ago, one of the concerns is they've got two new coordinators. But even though you said that was your concern, are you shocked at how amateur the operation looks over there right now? Is that a good way to put it? - I think it's a fair way to put it. The idea that nobody in-house caught this, 'cause you got to remember, Aiden Fisher said something similar after their game in the Peach Bowl. He was like, yeah, we knew what they were doing. We knew what they were doing every single play. Now, when someone says that, when your opposition says that after thumping your ass inside of a college football playoff game, you would think somebody in the quality control departments job would be all offseason. Hey, go figure out what that guy knew. Go figure that out. And then to roll two more games, it took some internet guru like me and you to find this out for them. That's a damning, you know, indication of where their quality control staff is right about now. The fact that nobody inside that building figured out that his stand, it wasn't even like an ease. It wasn't even like a hard tell to find. Wasn't like he was digging in his glove a little bit. Like the dude's feet were like six inches totally different between running past. That makes me look at the whole entire organization from a standpoint of where's your quality control department? That's their job. They're job is to make sure we're doing things right. We're not tipping pitches and we're finding advantages on everybody else. Now, that was a big one for me. It makes me down the whole thing. Yeah, I mean, and they and they flat out got their butt whipped. Yeah, if it wasn't if it wasn't for two damn near pick sixes from organs defense, uh huh. That's like a 17 point win by Oklahoma state. A team that got their brains beaten by Tulsa the week before. Like, I know, you know, Dante Moore is showing the plays and everything and he doesn't look that good. This here, but every single position group is lagging behind the expectations we add for him. Like the defensive lines getting pushed off the ball. Why? How? How is that happening? You know, everybody, they look like they're running in some men out there and they got one of the fastest teams on paper in the fucking world. Why? How? Like, I don't understand. There's things going on. Now, there's a second team that isn't as dire straits as Oregon, but Texas tech spent the early part of the offseason trying to shake the very foundations of college football to change their quarterback situation and they ended up getting cold feet and they didn't go all the way through with it. But they told us then they weren't real sure about Will Hammond. And then three or four weeks before the season, they go out and get cast the honest and they told us then they weren't really sure about Will Hammond. Well, now they came in. They come in two straight games. They've looked okay. But the defense doesn't look as good as it was last year. The offense, the quarterback situation doesn't look settled. They got a big one against Houston. But I would argue the gap between Texas tech and the big 12 has either disappeared or is a lot less than it was. What do you see out of Texas tech? And am I panicking too early? No, out of the yard. I see a quarterback that can't really drive the ball down the field right now. I believe he was 20 for 29 for a buck 89, which mean he was averaging seven yards per completion or per attempt last week. Like, we're just we're not driving the ball down the field. We're not explosive in the past department right now. And that's a real problem when you face a defensive coordinator, like Austin Armstrong. You're eventually going to get put behind the sticks. You're eventually going to like you have to ask your quarterback to drive the ball. And if he's unwilling to do so, you're not going to score points. You're not going to score enough points to win the football game. So I actually picked Houston and win that game on Friday night. And I thought, you know, the Cougars were a football team that nobody really talked about in this mix in the big 12 this off season, right? Everybody talked about Texas tech being a massive favorite inside that conference. Everybody talked about BYU because of Bearbock Meyer. Conor Wigman's playing some of his best football right now. All right. And they're willing to run this guy in three of their final six games last year at Houston, Brandon. He had over 20 plus carries as a quarterback. He's six foot five. He's 235 pounds. And when you're that willing to run your quarterback, you're inevitably going to have an efficient offense. I think Willie Fritz is an excellent football coach. I trust Austin Armstrong defensively. I think the Cougars get it done Friday night. Well, that's pretty bold. I was on them in the off season, but then when they played Oregon State start season, I was like, well, this isn't as impressive as I thought it would be, but maybe Oregon State's just saltier than you think. And it appears that they, in fact, are the big 12 to me is, you know, I know Miami is going to win the ACC. Maybe it doesn't happen, but I know it's going to happen. And then you kind of call out the usual suspects in the SEC in the big 10, even though Oregon's already fallen apart a little bit, but the big 12, Texas tech coming down, BYU, sitting in there solid in the gap. You've got Kansas State. I think it's percolating on the stove a little bit. You've got other team, like Oklahoma States now back in the mix as far as the big 12 goes. That's a conference that felt like it might have been a foregone conclusion in August and two weeks in. I don't know what the fuck is going to happen. So back to the old big 12 days, man. Yeah. That's that's when that conference is that it's best from an entertainment standpoint. They might limit themselves from participations in the playoff standpoints, but like that's when I watch the big 12. I don't watch the big 12 to watch Texas tech win every game by 17 points and then stumble to Arizona State. That's not what I watched the big 12 for sure. Last question because I'm going to try to keep it to 10 or 15 minutes. What are we at now, Loki? Out of boy, that way to be ready. What? On his toes, Luke. We're at 16 minutes already. Okay. Oh shit. Uh, anyway, last question. Um, any reasons to be concerned about Ohio State long term after that fourth quarter collapse or is it just something that happened on the road against a great football team? Because they do have a trip to Indiana, a trip to USC. They do have Oregon coming later. We'll see what Oregon puts back together. Uh, any reasons to be concerned or it just happens? Uh, two concerns off rip. Uh, well, three still don't have a field goal kicker. Yeah, that's like nine years into this. Still don't have a field goal kicker. Uh, the more reasonable concerns are and controllable concerns are the fact that Texas ran 40 offensive plays in their final three drives of that football game. They got their face ran through for, for 40 straight plays in the fourth quarter and we're completely unable to get off the field. It would like they were allowing explosives. Most of those drives were 14 to 16 play drives. They were just walking in it on them in the middle of the fourth quarter. That would be a primary concern. And I know there's been a lot of talk on the internet about how their two Jeremiah dependent. I didn't think so down the stretch. They went to other receivers. Other receivers just were not catching the football. Yeah. Um, I, I, there's also a lot of like terminology and talk about how Ryan Day squatted on the football, didn't play to win, played to not lose. And that's what ultimately cost them. I thought they were relatively aggressive from a play calling standpoint. They remained balanced. Um, they just wide receivers didn't win. Um, McEwen had a drop on a back shoulder fade on a third down. Uh, number seven, whose name I don't know, uh, dropped the ball on a speedout. Like they, they had it. They had opportunities to get, you know, get first downs and, and, and cruise that clock out and just couldn't execute outside of number four. Uh, so what we'll have to see. I still think they interior the offensive lines are a major problem too. All right, Brooks Austin, film guy, uh, go go search the film guy on YouTube. Uh, he's got some great breakdowns of every single pretty much everything. Uh, and yes, I am guilty of not watching last night, uh, you know, Tuesday nights. I'm, uh, you know, I'm such a hard worker and I deserve some nights to myself. Okay. Yeah. Hey, as your son come around to liking Mississippi State football, the last clip I saw, he was like, my dad acted like this is a top 10 team. It turns out we suck. Uh, you know, we all buck against it. I bucked against it when I was 10 years old. I was like my grandmother who lived in Decatur, Alabama would send me a roll tide sweater every single Christmas. And it wasn't until about age 11 or 12 where I stopped putting it on. So, uh, you know, we all fight battles in this life.
