On Saturday, August 1st, I am Chris Dauer, joined by Scott White. Let's get those line-up set for week 20 and the thing you have to know before we get going here, we don't really know. We're gonna be playing four, which the trade deadline is on Monday at 6 p.m. That is 40 minutes before line-up lock or 35 minutes before line-up lock for next week. And presumably, Tarek's Google will be somewhere else. Let's set. - Presumably. - Presumably, like, I don't know, a third of the league may have new closures and Dustin May is currently scheduled for two starts. May not happen. There's a lot between now and when you set your line-up set it's going to change. - Yeah. - And you will have a trade deadline livestream on the Fancy Baseball Today YouTube channel at 5 p.m. Eastern on YouTube.com. So I was Fancy Baseball Today to react to everything that happens at the trade deadline. So I might wanna tune in for that for some updates on some of this information, but the schedule will presumably not change. I guess there might be right. But 22 teams are playing six games. Eight teams have seven. Those are the Diamondbacks Cubs, Brewer's Phillies, Pirates, Padres, Blue Jays and Nationals. I think I got all of them. What about the Rockies, you ask? Well, another split week as often happens. This season, three at home, versus Tampa Bay, three on the road at St. Louis. And let's talk some start or sit for Frenji 2 Start Pictures first up Ian Seymour. He's a Spark and I generally say, just start any Spark and I had to head Pointleague. His first starts at Colorado. His second starts at Seattle. You'll love the extremes there. The worst place to pitch in baseball. And the best place to pitch in baseball. I think you're starting in a head to head Pointleague, right? - I think you're probably starting him regardless. It's not the strongest two start slate. And look, I'll spoil our alert. He's at the top of my sleeper pitcher list for this week. It was a difficult, it was a difficult list to fill out this time coming up with 10 names for it. But Seymour is at the top with the two starts that first start at Colorado, particularly since he tends to be home run prone is scary. - Yeah, hopefully it goes poorly at Colorado. Maybe he can make up for it at Seattle. We also got Christian Scott at the Guardians and at Pittsburgh. And then Dustin May scheduled for At New York versus the Rockies. But obviously I think Dustin May, one of the more likely pitchers to get traded. So it's kind of hard to say start him. I know he is on your sleeper pitchers list, right? - He is, because not presuming anything at the Cardinals are in the race and they may just want to go for it. But may it be an impending free agent? Certainly a chance he's traded. If the Cardinals decide to go more of the seller out. - And then Christian Scott, he's coming off, I think a 98 pitch outing, something like that. They let him go. It was his first six start outing. It's only one sitting outing outing outing. Or six ining outing, but he's got at Cleveland at Pittsburgh. You like him next week? - I do like him next week. I think those, I mean the Cleveland matchups obviously favorable pirates, they've been a strong lineup this year. They've hit well, but Scott has been pitching well overall. The length has been an issue as you point out, but did go six innings finally in this last start. I think generally speaking, two starts are, as long as one of them is a favorable matchup, you'd rather get the second start than not. As long as it's a pitcher worth a salt, and I think Scott is. All right, I think Ian Seymour and Christian Scott both worth adding to stream this week. What about Brandon Fott? He's got a good matchup versus San Diego. He's been pitching well. He's also got the Dodgers after that. We don't really buy how well he's been pitching. What do you make of that? - I don't buy it, and I don't want it by it now because I don't think Fott is actually good. I think he's, you know, the strikeout rate during that hot streak, I think it's less than five per nine. My memory's right, and then he's got to start against the Dodgers. So that seems too dangerous, even for a point-sleeve. - Well, above a Chandler, Aunt Milwaukee versus the Metz. - Yeah, it starts having been good enough to really have much interest in him. There's usually a big tier of pitchers in my two-star pitcher rankings that are advisable just in point-sleeves. That list, this week, is just dust and May. And who might not even have lining up for two starts as you point out, 'cause he might get traded. So it's more than half a list, isn't it? - Yeah. - No thanks category this week. - Eric Lauer, Brandon Sprout, you're not starting them this week? - No. Jacob Lopez, Slates of Coney. Some Slates of Coney's been getting some decent results lately, but I agree, these are, this is not a great list of options like two-star pitchers. We're gonna take a break and look at some one-star streamers right after this. All right, Scott, walk me through your one-star streamers here on FBT Express. - So we don't have a lot of two-star options. Gotta be some one-starter options to get excited about, right? - Well, not so much. - We started, yeah, maybe not the right word. - Not so much. This is definitely one of those weeks where, it's like-- - Dance with a play. - You came to the dance with? - Exactly. These are just break-glass in case of emergency options for the most part. So just to reiterate, the three two-starter options on the list that I am calling sleeper pitchers are Ian C. Moore, Christian Scott, and Dustin May. One-starter options, the best one is Joey Cantillo, who's facing the Metz, which is a favorable matchup. And has he been pitching well lately? Well, the outings have been short. The ERA's been good. The Strike Out Rates have been good. The Whip's been very high and efficient, and that's why the outings have been so short. So-- - A lot of five-ending starts, yeah. - Yeah, I think it could go really well, but the likely scenario is a short outing where that hurts your whip more than helps. But maybe you can see a lot of Strikeouts. Brandon Young is facing the Angels, a very strikeout front team, and he's been on a nice run lately. Don't entirely trust it. And I'm not alone in that regard, which is why he's only 57% rostered, but he's among the best you do off the way of wire. This week, for sure. Michael McGreevy is a quality start machine, not a lot of upside week to week, but pretty good floor pitcher and gets his share of quality starts facing the Rockies in St. Louis. - I like that one. - Yeah, it's a nice matchup from McGreevy. - Oh, you guys won a lot too. - Walbert Arania going against the Marlins. Is that the one you're referring to? - Yeah, good place to pitch, good matchup. - Good ground ball pitcher. He's just been reliable, and yeah, it's not a bad matchup there at the Marlins. Shane Drowen gets the Pirates. The Pirates, as I pointed out a minute ago, are a tough matchup, but Drowen has been consistent, and the Pirates are not quite as good against left handed pitchers. Their OPS is 17th, there's a team against left handers, which is what Shane Drowen is. Shane Baz gets the Rangers. That's a favorable matchup for a pitcher who tends to work deep into a starts of nothing else. I could see him coming out of that with the quality start. And then finally, Sean Monaya at Cleveland, that's obviously a favorable matchup. And while I don't think there is a lot to get excited about, and long run for Monaya, three of his last four starts have been quality starts. So maybe it'll continue. - All right, let's move on to the hitter side. The best hitter matchups, four week 20, the Padres, the Phillies, the Diamondbacks, the Reds, and the Reds socks. Again, Padres Phillies, Diamondbacks, Reds, Reds socks. Worst, White socks, Braves, Mariners, Brewers, and Tigers. Scott, who are your favorite sleeper hitters for week 20? - So this list isn't that promising either. I gotta be honest with you. The waiver wires is kind of bleak overall. Ty Frantz stops the list. He's been hot for several weeks now. And you mentioned the Padres have the most favorable matchups. He's still available in more than half CBS. He's kind of a tough fit since his first base only. But if you just need a hitter to plug in, he's still the guy. AJ Ewing has been productive of late, stealing a lot. a lot of bases, nothing special about the Met's matchups, but they're not prohibitive either. So a good time to look at you and Col Carrick kind of in the same boat. Rocky's only half the week at home. I wouldn't call their matchups especially favorable, but I just think Col Carrick's under rostered and hopefully the trade deadline just gets these random off days out of the way for him. That's the biggest thing holding him back, I think. That would be nice. I love a lot of confidence and Bryce Eldridge. I know he's been pretty quiet lately, but a strikeout rate is still better than expected. Contact quality is still very good. Again, it's not really a matchups thing so much, but they're not prohibitive. If it's a good hitter on the waiver wire and the matchups aren't prohibitive, it's probably on the list for this week. His teammate, Elliot Ramos, who had a four hit game Wednesday, I believe, is also on this list. Those are in trade discussions. That's true. That's one to keep an eye on, but anybody who gets traded probably misses at least one game, maybe two to him, a report to their new team. That's the one thing to keep an eye on there. Araberto Hernandez has been hot for months, frankly, and one of the most under roster players at 33%. So we'll keep him as a sleeper hitter. Somebody to take advantage of the matchups here. We got Bryce and Stott actually has been productive since the start of June, and Phillies have the second best hitter matchups, facing the nationals and Blue Jays pitching staffs. So, a good time to roll with him. Also, his teammate, Alec Bohm, is on this list for the same reason. Jackson Holiday is hitting about 500 over the past week. I'm not seeing a lot in the underlying data to convince me, okay, this is the breakout for Jackson Holiday. But playtests have been greatly not him the ball hard though. Pretty good matchups for the Warriors, only one left-hander on the schedule. And I think just one more, Ryan Walchmit, to take advantage of the Diamondbacks third best hitter matchups. He's been hitting pretty well. The playing time has been a bit staggered, but three lefties on the schedule this week for the Diamondbacks helps. So if you're struggling to fill that FIT OUT fielder spot, Walchmit, not a bad choice. Alright, might be a good idea.
