Week 2 Reaction Show + AP Poll Is Insane

I'm the only one on earth pushing this theory on this Sunday September 13th year of our low 2026 jam pack high top of a bubbly downtown Nashville, Tennessee and that theory is we had a five-challied classic in college football last night. Jesse, do you know that? They moved the monitor where I can see Jesse again. Do you know we had a five-challied classic and you're like, yeah, man, everyone's so Ohio State Texas wrong. Jacksonville State, Ohio, I don't care if I have to drag everyone to watch this replay was amazing last night. Congrats to Ohio dumbest overtime rules in the history of sports we have in college football. But nonetheless that was a classic as was Ohio State Texas. Of course, if that's your flavor, we'll talk about that on the show tonight. We were in Michigan yesterday and we saw a result that shocked some of America and I have no idea why. Now if you want to be shocked, still water Oklahoma was the place to be shocked. We'll talk about that game. The AP poll presented apparently exclusively by drugs now. That's the sponsor, not on this show. It's Ram. But in general, I have no idea what people are looking at. No earthly idea. I do know that we had a winning day on the ramen to look fresh yesterday and we do have two best bets early tonight. We got a ton to talk about. It's a jam packed show. So let's get to it. They're watching us in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Sarasota, Florida, Wayne, Pennsylvania. You know where that is, Jesse? You visited Wayne. Now get around more. And Dallas, Texas, thank you guys so much. I'm going to paper pop this, although it's just a rumor, but I want to float this rumor because it's about me. There's a rumor that wherever they don't tread on Saturday tour is next week. Jesse may have a live show accompanying that stop. Just maybe one of those real good old-fashioned theater Esk Friday night shows that we don't broadcast anywhere. So you got to be there in person. Which of many camp I across the country could we be on next Friday? Who is to say? Who's to really say? I know I don't know, but that's for next week or week after next. In the meantime, we were in Ann Arbor, Michigan Friday and Saturday. This game was interesting. Sure was interesting, presented by Jimmy John's is the game of the week. Now some people will disagree and if you disagree, put your own rating on it. That's fine. It's not that big a deal. But after all that noise last week, you want to know something? Michigan's 2-0. Michigan's a 2-0 football team. Michigan is once again ranked in the AP polls. So there's some good news. Kyle Winningham, I'm sure, takes a lot of pride in being ranked again in the AP poll. Prediction culture got drunk on this game last week. Now, this does not make me a hypocrite because I freely admit I picked Oklahoma to win the game. You remember, like we do locker room on Wednesday with Will and Taylor and we could put between one unit and five units of confidence on these things and I put one measly unit of confidence on Oklahoma because we know or at least I thought we knew how college football works and it doesn't work nice and neat and clean and organized. It doesn't go according to plan. It never does and it didn't hear and so it's a pretty easy game to understand now that we've all seen it. But remember last Tuesday we did the game preview for this one. And even though I was going to pick Oklahoma to win, I and the interest of fairness wanted to you know point out the path for Michigan. If Michigan's going to win this game, how would they do it? Pretty simple, pretty straightforward and literally every one of these four points we listed came to fruition. Number one, I thought they needed to scratch out 20 points as it turns out they didn't even need that many. But like 20 points, that's kind of what you would hope to scratch out if you're Michigan. Number two, they needed to run Bryce Underwood a whole lot more. And I specifically said his stat line, Bryce Underwood stat line, should look a lot like Mattier's stat line, looked last year. Well, last year, Mattier was 19 carries 74 yards, two touchdowns in this game. Bryce Underwood yesterday was 18 carries 87 yards, one touchdown, almost a mirror image. In fact, and I found myself saying this pretty early in the game, he looked like John Mattier was supposed to look, which is both a complement and an indictment depending on which sideline you were on. Number three, they needed to bait John Mattier into working for them. And that's exactly what they did. It didn't take five or six bad throws, just bait him. And they did. It's a tie game, it's 10, 10, nine minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Boom, there's your pick. Oklahoma's on like their own 16 yard line or something like that. And number four, needed to win hidden yardage. And they did six. Okay, you know what, this is a paper popper. Huge credit to Michigan special teams. Six Oklahoma drives, began inside their own 16 yard line. Two of them started inside the one yard line basically, unbelievable performance, not overwhelming, not dominant or anything like that. They didn't run up the score. They didn't need to. They did what it took to win. And I was standing there on the field there in the big house, great environment yesterday, great weather, great everything. And I said to the person standing next to me, man, Michigan looks exactly how I expected Oklahoma to look. Right up to the quarterback play. And I think a lot of people ended up echoing that same sentiment. There was always the possibility last week that Michigan just didn't take Western Michigan seriously enough. That wouldn't be the first time that happened in college football. So as everyone tried to explain that ending and tried to explain the outcome and explain the performance. Hey, there's of course the possibility Michigan is just terrible. I didn't think that was true. There's the possibility a ton of bounces went Western Michigan's way. Well, it wasn't really that. But the third one, there could just be the fact that they weren't as up as they needed to be. And if that was going to be the case, we were going to find out against Oklahoma because the level of play would be totally different. And guess what? The level of play was totally different. They played like a team that had been put through a meat grinder all week, which based on Intel, we got up there later in the week they had. And you know what they proved? They can still crank it on defense. Michigan can still crank it on defense. And that's a prideful program. That's a prideful group of folks up there. And they got their pride question last week. And they played like it. It's a beautiful theme. The perspective on it is, you know, everyone's so quick to try and say, man, that's still a flawed team, though. Yeah, yeah, it's still a flawed team. Haven't seen a perfect one out there yet, by the way. But there's still a flawed team like, okay, okay, the alternative was they lose yesterday. So that's the alternative. But they won. So do we need to rain on it? I don't necessarily think so. Saviour on the Heiter or Marshall in Heiter with 19 carries 38 yards. So this is the second week in a row. I look at that and I say, man, I'd love to get more out of those guys. But they won. They had 11 penalties yesterday. Hate that. But they won. Also, man those SEC crews knew where the flags were in those pockets yesterday. It wasn't just this game. There were several games yesterday where I think I could have shaved 30 to 40 minutes off of airtime. If not for penalties, I'm sure it was just teams, though. I'm sure they're the discrepancy in big 10 officials versus SEC officials and the amount of flags per game purely coincidental. Yeah, Bryce Underwood still limited his passer. Okay, cool. They won. This is the most disappointed I've been so far in 2026. Watching Oklahoma yesterday, not the most disappointing performance, it was disappointing for me. And it was because I had to come to the realization in my own time and my own way. The geometry is not a good quarterback. Gasps from coast to coast. As you know, this is difficult for me because I own a sizable chunk of John Matier stock. I didn't sell it in time. And now I'm stuck with it, Jesse. It's a part of me. It's in my portfolio. Now, luckily, I got a ton of Camario Taylor in there and I bought early and I saw I'm good. Don't worry about me. Don't super chat me. I'm doing fine. But yeah, you see the live chat there? Jaws hit the floor. I know guys. I know tires screeching all over the place. And John Matier is just not a good quarterback. But here is what I'm trying to say. That's not on him. Well, I guess it is on him. But it's on me for believing because I hate when people hype someone or hype a team and then the for someone or the team. doesn't deliver and then the person calls them the bust. No, your predictions, the bust. My prediction about John Mateer's the bust, am I the bust? I don't want to go that far. I don't want to go that far because that leads to a lot of memes that I don't want circulating the internet. But I want to know how surprising this was to Oklahoma staff. And the reason I mentioned that is because normally if we, the public, are seeing a result of a product that a coaching staff has known about for weeks, if not months, right? That's normally the case. Sometimes the opposite is true. Sometimes the coaching staff is surprised right along with the public. And I can't help but think that yesterday was one of those exceptions to the rule. And the reason I think that is because of how many times they had that dude throw in the ball early. They had that dude throw in the ball early. He had, he being John Mateer, had one more pass attempt in the first half than Bryce Underwood had all game. Everything Michigan did with Underwood is what I would have expected Oklahoma to do with John Mateer, especially if they knew he was limited or thought he was limited as a passer. It's obvious they thought they could win throw in the ball and they couldn't. And it wasn't really particularly close either and I was just disappointed. I expected more. Someone just sent us two dollars. Actually they sent us a dollar 99 cent John Mateer stock payout. It's very disrespectful. But is it really disrespectful if they sent us money? I don't know. Bradley you can keep that. Where do these teams go from here? Where are these teams in November? So Oklahoma, look, they got New Mexico this week. That's like the Georgia Southern Clemson of this week. Don't be sleeping on that game. But if you want to sleep on that game, they still got to go to Georgia. They got Texas and Dallas. They got to go to Starkville. They got Lenora Sellers and South Carolina coming in there. They go to Florida. They got Ole Miss A&M at Missouri. It does not let up. That could be a seven and five team or it could be a ten and two team. It's all still in their court. But man, they got to radically change. But Michigan, I know it feels to the world like they're one and one. They are two and o team according to the record book. And now you look at their path. I'm not saying it's an easy path. But the difference is you got Iowa at Minnesota. Penn State comes to the big house in a few weeks. Indiana comes in there in a few weeks. And look, you may struggle to score, but they're going to struggle to score against you as well. That defense could have Michigan in any game. And then, of course, you go too late in the year. We got no idea what that will entail. And then we go to Columbus, Ohio to end the year. Hat tip to Michigan. Big time gut check. Tailor Lewon through five units on that thing. And I, even though I was on the losing side, aren't we happy for our friend? Because I don't know, man, like the alternative was going to have him in a dark, dark place. And I don't have to, I don't want to deal with that on a Wednesday. I don't want to deal with that at all. We were in Ann Arbor yesterday, and we appreciate Dave Abeloff. We appreciate the entire staff up there, taking great care of us. Actually, it was an awesome weekend, weather, incredible, good time to go to Michigan. That was week two. Where are we going? Week three. Well, if you follow me on Twitter, you found out hours ago, Instagram, you found out hours ago. It's not exactly breaking news. But I'll break it for you anyway. The don't tread on Saturday tour, week three, is headed to Auburn, Alabama. Thank you, Bradley. Even though no one can hear you on air. Florida at Auburn circled this game weeks and weeks and weeks ago, as I knew the entire world, would be headed to Oxford, Mississippi. Look, we're free to choose where we go. There's a little bit of calculus here, because we've already seen LSU in person once. We've got several opportunities to see both LSU and Ole Miss down the road. I don't know how many more opportunities we will have to see an Auburn home game. And we always try and get to Jordan here at least once per year, love it down there. And Florida as well, I don't know. They're much more enigmatic sort of mystery type teams. So we try and hit those early. This is going to be an incredibly overlooked game, but not by us. So this is going to be an electric atmosphere down there, both of them undefeated early in the season, both of them undefeated, and it's going to be an incredible time. This can't be right, because this says Oklahoma State beat Oregon yesterday, 39 to 31. Hold on there, telling me, it's correct, okay, so this is a thing that happened yesterday. There were weather delays here, Mimaw said, as a general rule of thumb, you can't put more than four chalai on a game that has a weather delay, so I'm going to give this three chalai. I did a reaction video to this game last night. It floored me so much that I did a reaction video to it last night. It's already on the YouTube channel, but I'm not done. I got more to say on this game. What's glaring is not the outcome, although I will grant you that's glaring. What's glaring is anyone of you who watched this knows if you flip one or two plays in the first half, it's 24 to nothing Oklahoma State. There was not a single scintilla of this game, and you know how rarely I use that word that was flukeish. Jesse would I be fair to say if there was any fluke in this game, it's that Oregon was still in it. Like that's more flukeish than saying, oh, Oklahoma State, man, everything went their way. Yeah, it went their way into the tune of 554 to 281 outgain in Oregon. Yeah, that went their way. teams played like this. last year in the final score was 69 to three. I guess home field really does mean that much. It doesn't hurt that Eric Morris brought his entire team north on I 35 with him. What's wrong with Oregon? What is wrong with Oregon? That's all people are asking today. Me too. You're not selling me on a lack of talent. You're not selling me on that. So I had to come up with a way to explain this to many, many people who are kind of new to our show and they're new to college football. We get an alarming, actually alarming in a good way. A amount of people who comment or who are in our DMs who say, "Hey, I love sports, but I've never really watched all that much college football, but I'm watching it. I've gotten into it. I'm watching your show." To those people, you can't go really, really in the weeds on this sort of thing because they don't know the sport at that level. But what you do is you take real-world metaphors, real-world comparisons, and there's one that's right in front of our face. We kind of use it a lot on this show, the Thanksgiving metaphor, the ingredients versus the meal metaphor, because that's Oregon football right now. Oregon football is the classic example of there being a big difference between ingredients and the meal. Watching them right now is like, "If everyone's getting ready for Thanksgiving and everyone has identified, we're going to a Memos house this year, and everyone's going to bring this or bring that, but they're just kind of bringing ingredients." And then you show up and, "Oh, it's Thanksgiving. It's so good to see you, Aunt Catherine. It's so good to see you, Uncle Mike." What time are we eating? 11.30. No, no, okay, that'll work. Let's wait for Alex to get here. Okay, she's here. Now everyone's here. Now let's eat. And then you walk in the kitchen and there's just ingredients on the shelf. No one bother to make the meal. That's kind of how Oregon football feels. Everyone looks so forward to it this year. And everyone knew the ingredients. We all listed the ingredients. We all knew the pieces. We all knew the players. We all knew how much money was spent on the roster. Did anyone bother to create a team out of all this? Because so far limited sample size, it doesn't feel that way. Offensive line, not close. Not close to expectation. Oklahoma State sacked Dante more four times yesterday. Four tackles for loss. Three quarter back hits. Just a unit not remotely close to what we thought they were capable of. Now maybe we just overestimated them. Could be our fault. That defensive line, not close. Not close. Zero sacks yesterday. Only three quarter back hurries. One tackle for loss against the team. At least the logo of a team that you beat 69 to three last year. I understand it's a new team, but buddy, it's not the Houston Texans that went north and took over things in Oklahoma state. It's it's North Texas. That's who clowned you yesterday. The defense isn't close. They gave up seven explosive plays yesterday alone. And the staff isn't close. Cause the staff doesn't have the team ready. And the evidence of that is they suck out of the gate right now. Their first five drives against Boise last week, netted seven points. Their first five drives against Oklahoma State yesterday, netted zero points offensively. Tons of penalties. They don't they're not playing hungry. I'll tell you what they look like every so often a team will go win a championship. And then they suffer from complacency. And there's a let down the following season. And you know, they get a little too happy and a little too content organs playing like that right now, except they haven't won anything. They got smoked by Indiana last year. They got smoked by Ohio State. The last two seasons ended with an emphatic splattering. If anything, it should be the hungriest program and the Hungriest group of players in America. And instead they've had it taken to them, especially yesterday. They got dealt with yesterday. And it was a cattle prod to the neck like it looked like they had no answers. It's a miracle that game was that close. It really is. Here's the good news. They still get to choose their path. It's not too late. Just listen into Dan landing talk earlier today. It's not that late. It's two games into the season. You haven't even started conference play yet. You're one in one. You can either choose to be what Bama was last year or you could choose to be what Penn State was last year because Bama had the exact same thing happened to them on the road at Florida State that you had happened to you yesterday at Oklahoma State. People were stunned. They were stunned. And they go back home and it's disorienting because everything gets reset in your mind. Are we what we thought we were? Well, fans can afford to think that way. Media can afford to talk that way. You got to get right back to work. They're going to have you another game on the schedule. Every six or seven days. Well, Bama went on a run and ended up being a playoff team and won a game in the playoffs. Penn State let one loss totally implode their season. Either of those paths is on the table for Oregon right now. It's up to them. Like how much pride do you have in your performance? How hungry are you? Do you just think that the roster and the uniform, you know, the people that kind of came before you and created the aura of what Oregon football is? Do you think that does the work for you? It's not the way it works. It's not a video game world. It's the real world. Like you got to put your hands on people and you got to dominate them physically. You got all the receiver talent in the world. You got an all world quarterback like you have to make the plays or the accolades are meaningless. Everybody's getable. Did you watch this sport the first two weeks? You're certainly getable. But Ohio State lost yesterday. Have you looked around? Like there's nobody. There's not a there's not an insurmountable hurdle out there. But it doesn't matter if you don't take care of your own business. So if Oregon turns it around, we are billing landing because I'm just going to assume they played the entire video in the building. We move on to a lot to talk about. Texas did something last night that I would call at least improbable, not quite impossible. But buddy, if you were watching this game, which I put 4.5 chalai on the one to five scale on by the way, if you were watching Texas, trailing 23 to three in the fourth quarter of this game, me knowing, good and well, some people went to bed. Like I know, good and well, a lot of you went to bed last night. What was it like to wake up this morning? You wake up, you're groggy. If you're vision impaired, you put on your contact lenses or your glasses. And you do what? You you start the coffee machine or maybe you just order it like what is your morning routine? What I'm trying to ask is at what point did you realize? Hold on. What happened? I can't imagine that. I stayed up and watched it. I'm told it's my job. So I stayed up and watched it. But I know some people didn't. And those are the people that I thought about this morning. AP number one teams. Padlock stat. Actually, this is not a padlock stat. This is just an insane stat. AP number one teams were 197 and zero went up 20 points in the fourth quarter. And now they're 197 and one. And if you think those are long odds, I want you to think about what the odds must have been to have Ohio State miss that feel goal to recover both of those fumbles late to convert both of those fourth downs more on that in a second. All that stuff. We use the word confluence like rivers and Pennsylvania. All that stuff coming together. What are the odds of that? Probably more than one in 197. So yeah, there were a lot of first. And there was a lot of unbelievable about this game last night. I did a full reaction to it. That's on the YouTube channel. Like if you want another deep dive on it. But kind of like kind of like the organ game. I didn't say all I wanted to say. So we continue here. Think about what was riding on this. You know the shark legacy stuff. You know the archmaning legacy stuff. You know the championship or bust stuff. You know the Ohio State wants it. But Texas needs it stuff. That's normally hyperbolic. It's normally more like, you know the ESPN sort of marketing of the game that is a little bit whatever. Not on this game. On this game. I I believe. leave to that about this one. So they're down 23 to 3. I'm going to show you a clip in just a second of what I said like as soon as this game ended last night, I hit up Jesse or Jesse hit up me. Did you hit me up? Yeah, you said if you want to react to this game, let's do it. And I just hit record in my basement. I don't even remember what was behind me, pill bottles. I don't know. But there was legitimately it's multivitamins. Calm down. But yeah, I didn't even clean the shelf off. And the first words out of my mouth were, dude, Sark was like on the brink. And there were two calls that may very well have changed the trajectory of his entire career. Bradley wrote that video. There are two moments where if you could freeze him in time and do an entire segment in that moment, you would legitimately say, do Sark's career, maybe on the line here. Like the future of him as the head coach at Texas, maybe on the line. In those moments, you would also say, dude, archmaning's legacy is on the line. It wouldn't even have been hyperbolic, by the way. The moments I'm talking about are the two fourth down calls. They got fourth and nine on their own 42. And they go for it. That's with two minutes and change left in the third quarter. Guys, if they don't convert that, not only is it over, you're typing up, it's a splattering in Austin on the iPhone and press and send within moments. And then another drive, early fourth quarter, it's fourth and six on Texas's own 32. And they have to go for it again. And they make it again. Those two moments, I don't know what the rest of the season is going to bring for Texas. I don't know what Sark's going to go on to do the rest of his career. I hope he coaches for 100 years. Those moments will probably be forgotten. This game won't be forgotten. But those moments within these games will probably be forgotten. That's where it was. That was the pivot. You see that, Jesse? I had Sark standing right here. He didn't want to wait for the sound bite to end though. That's a shame. That stuff happens more and more these days. There's a lot to take pride in here. If you're Texas, man, there's been some stuff questioned about you fairly, in my opinion, but you matched the physicality of Ohio State dare I say dare I say Texas leaned a little bit on Ohio State last night. Now, you're not going to dominate Ohio State physically. No one will except for Ruben Bane. But Texas, Texas bettered him late last night. I don't know how much heat. I don't know how much conditions had to do with that, but they both played in it. So, you got to be immensely proud of that, especially after the Georgia debacles of the last few years. Also, even though it's not going to jump off the stat sheet, Texas is ground game showed up last night. I thought that offensive line showed up and I thought that ground game showed up not to the tune of 9.8 yards per carry or 315 on the ground. But those were hard earned yards. Those were situational changing yards on the ground in the third and fourth quarter for Texas. And that offense will be interesting to watch moving forward because they tried to do things within their structure. You know, they tried to call the game within their offensive structure last night and nothing worked. Nothing. And then arch came alive when they essentially took the game to the backyard, which is wonderful. But that means you won that game last night. How does that apply moving forward? Because I remember in the preseason when we were talking about Texas, one of the things I said about Texas is it'd be great if arch was the Heisman winner this year and their offense just goes off and they got a top 15 rushing attack and all the rest of it's moot. However, in the real world, it's hard to score in this game. And so in the real world, what if they're not quantum leaps and bounds improved offensively? Well, that's the case. They could be a defensive oriented team. And last night, especially second half, after Will Mustchamp was getting trashed on the internet at halftime in author Smith's running circles around Will Mustchamp. Well, that score got even a little bit in the second half, didn't it? Half time adjustments, man. I know some people back home in Harris County, Georgia that are huge fans of halftime adjustments. Some of them were made last night. So what do you do moving forward? I'll ask it this way. What is Texas's offensive identity moving forward? Because to me, you do whatever you got to do on the ground. You incorporate archmaning on the ground. You take what worked last night and you put your players in the best chance to succeed, but you do it knowing we got a heck of a defense. And it may be that most weeks 20 is all we need because we trust them to hold the other guy down to 20. And maybe that's simple. Having said that, you remember last year, Jesse, when I said, what did I say? I said Miami practice different than any team in the country. You remember the Ohio State folks took, took a ton of um, um, bridge with it. And they said, I was a buck. I hate her. Okay. Well, uh, it's time, it's time to earn some equity back because I actually watched last night and came away thinking Ohio State's the best team in the country. I think that misfeel goal and the two fumble recoveries and the fourth down conversions, full credit to Texas, by the way, all happening in their building. All that being necessary for me to lose by one point on the road. I would have loved to have won the game. But man, I learned I got a heck of a team. Now, I got my own issues to deal with and trust me, I got a ton of Ohio State buddies. I've seen the text all day. I haven't responded to a lot of them. I know you're mad. I know you think it was a meltdown and an implosion. The other guy's allowed to try to like like the other teams pretty good too. So that being said, what you get for that is you get a one in the lost column. But I think they learned a huge lesson about finishing. I think you learn it's hard to rev the engine twice. Last year, speaking of Miami, we were at the Miami FSU game last year. Miami gets up big. They'll let the foot off the gas. Florida State comes from behind. They don't win the game. But I remember Shannon Dawson walking up to me afterwards saying, brother, it's hard to rev the engine twice in a game. Ohio State found that out last night in a weird sort of way. If I were pulling for Ohio State, I would have rather him just kind of kept it 14 to three or something like that instead of 23 to three, which makes no sense if you don't watch football. But if you watch the game last night, you know exactly what I'm talking about. But I will say this. I will hardly ever question personnel decisions or play calling because I'm not qualified to. For many reasons, but the most basic of which is I don't know Ryan Day's players as well as he does. So I know there's a reason Chris Henry wasn't used more last night. I know there's a reason legend Bay wasn't used more last night. But there's another part of me that knows those two from a pure talent standpoint are some of the best on the planet. I've got to find ways to get him on the field. If not immediately, then eventually. And I got to think as the year goes on, those guys won't be able to be kept off the field to the point where if there are big time moments in late October, November and maybe even into December, the playoffs, they'll be factors. I still think this Ohio team and it's this Ohio State team and it's best probably the best team in the country right now. We'll see what the JP poll thinks. Bama, we're close at the half Jesse. Boy, they're trailing. 45-17 final. Something weird must have happened in the second half of this one. This game brought to you by FanDuel. Alabama, if you watch this game, especially if you watched the first half of the game, made it very obvious. They got the exact same issues they had last year, which is very alarming. Eight penalties in this game. They had five total rush yards in the first half, three turnovers in the first half, four sacks allowed in the first half. And as a result, they trailed at half time only by four. But that's a mirror image of some of the struggles they had early on last year. Then what happened? What happened is defense completely took over the game and they've got different makers up front. They didn't have last year, which validates a lot of what we thought. I went and watched them scrimmage a couple of times. That was the first words out of my mouth when I came back. Their defense is totally different than last year. And it is. Devon Tompkins is an incredible player that they didn't have last year. Woodson, Luke, Matt, linebacker like those guys played with their hair on fire yesterday. Here's what I'm trying to say. That team's got some of the same issues right now that they had at this point last year. It's just a way better team so they can overcome it. Last year's team wasn't able to overcome it against Florida State. This year's team can. So in the net, it's really good news for Alabama. However, you got to fix the issues. So trying to figure out how to project them is sort of difficult because man, when you watch them, you get glimpses, especially defensively. You get glimpses that make you think, do that. That could be a really dangerous team. Yes, yes, coming into August, what I label them as is a conditional contender and kind of equated it to storm chasing. Close. When we'll go out storm chasing, there's some days where it's a no brainer. We call those Notre Dame days. That's a no brainer. Like that team is elite. This day is going to be explosive. There's really no question about it. There are other days where we know if this, this, and this happen, atmospherically, this could be an explosive day. But if those things don't happen, it could be pretty calm. That's Alabama. All right, well now we're a couple of games into the season. And some of those conditions are falling into place. Some of those parameters are falling into place. Like they are better running the ball, but their offensive lines still very much are work in progress. Their best running backs ultimately will probably be those true freshmen, even though Daniel Hill had a really good day yesterday, ran for over a hundred yards, uh, was a workman yesterday for them when they needed it. That could be an integral part of this offense. Keelan Russell shows you flashes, still makes critical mistakes. You ask yourself down the stretch, like how much can he improve in one year? Uh, they are very, very hard to run on. And I don't think that's going to change. They're very hard to throw the ball on. This is a really, really good defense. Probably the best one they've had in several years. Like this defense is better than the latter Sabin year defenses. I think pretty clearly because they whiffed on a lot of defensive line evaluations late in Sabin's tenure. These dudes they've got right now and they've got a little bit of depth about that roster too are very, very good. That secondary is very, very good. Hey Jesse, we got a glimpse of gyro Edwards. Got got got one glimpse of him that first play of the fourth quarter. Just if you if you guys have a little free time that number 10 there on defense, that's when you'll want to circle. That's a true freshman. That's when you'll want to circle. So there was a lot of hype around Kentucky yesterday. I mean, I was looking at some of the predictions for this one. There were a lot of folks that thought Kentucky would win this game outright. And if you thought that going into the game, man, you had to have some confidence at halftime, there should be hype around this team. You should be excited about Will Stein coming in. Nothing wrong with that. It may very well be that he's the difference maker that that place needed. But that is still very, very much a roster that's a work in progress. And it's showed in the second half. I mean, to the point where, you know, everything's clear in hindsight, but I kind of question, why bam, I didn't try and run the ball more than the first half. But again, that's neither here nor there. This is the kind of game where since you take care of business, no one kind of pays attention to it. It's like Oregon yesterday had Oregon gone to Stillwater and one by 20. No one really notices. They only notice when you get upset. But there's stuff you can learn from these games. They got Florida State this week, right, Jesse? Lines like 20 and a half. So that's going to be another one, not much attention on it. However, there wasn't a ton of attention on it last year either, and we saw what happened. So, you know, I'm sure that'll be mentioned a few dozen times this week. They're watching us in one known Lake Illinois or Indiana, rather. Portland, Oregon, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tundin, Ardmore, Alabama, Tundin. Thank you guys so much. We now arrive at the portion of the program. Bradley, that's not your end point. This is your end point. I have no idea what the AP is doing. We're three weeks in. These people are completely lost. Rams not. Okay. So, so ram presents. There he goes. There he goes. Ram presents our weekly dismemberment of the AP poll. And it brings me no joy. But what else am I supposed to do? Mississippi State's not ranked. I repeat. Mississippi State is not ranked. Why drugs? How else do you explain it? For anyone snickering in the control room, how do you explain Oregon still being ranked? And Mississippi State is not. Let's walk through a little mental exercise together, shall we? If I kept everything the same yesterday, but I took Oregon uniforms and put them on Mississippi State, where would Mississippi State be ranked? How high in the top five would that team have vaulted? They body-bagged Minnesota in their own building yesterday. But because they got a bulldog on their helmet, because they got MSU instead of that big block. Oh, I mean, we can't we can't rank them. It's Mississippi State. No, what it is is a two and no team that just smoked a big 10 team in their own building yesterday. That's what it is. What you really want to do, Jesse, is you really want to get taken to the limit by a G 16 at home. And then what you want to do is go on the road and lose, get embarrassed in the process by an upstart big 12 program that inherited an entire G six roster and stuff. That's what you got to do to be ranked these days. Not going to beat in the brakes off Minnesota. I mean, who's amongst us hasn't done that completely ridiculous. Texas, Texas too high here. Texas, Texas 13 based on what I don't know. Not performance. They were lethargic against Abelian Christian. They were taken to the limit against Oregon State last night. I had that one on my ninth monitor over here. That was a close game. The model, if you tuned into Friday night lines, you know the last best bet I put in was Oregon in state plus 26 and a half. I have no idea why that number was that fat, but yeah, so we cashed in on that one. Uh, Houston is at Texas Tech this Friday night. I got a close friend. I'm not going to say who it is. I'll give you a hint. He works in the city of Birmingham, Alabama and does a morning radio show with a former Alabama quarterback. That person really, really loves Houston this Friday. Make of that what you will. I think that's going to be a trendy pick this week. Houston is 20 second, by the way. So we got a good old fashioned ranked on ranked matchup. Tim Brando calling that one from Lubbock, I believe Friday night. Let me, let me tell you, let me just a little side note here, a little side bar. I saw some folks hating on Uncle Tim the other night on Twitter. Look, what is wrong with you people? Tim Brando's an institution, not only that, they were using some of the best bump music that I have heard Fox using a long time. They played at least one fleet with Max on the other night and it was gypsy. They didn't even use go your own way. So I know people have their criticisms of the Fox broadcast and I'm supposed to hate them because we're aligned with the SPN couldn't care less. I love the vibe that the Friday night Fox broadcast takes plus we go live at halftime for Friday night lines. So I'm always watching the Friday night Fox broadcast. Anyway, back up here on the main road. The big 12 is really interesting right now because after we've seen Texas Tech look kind of vulnerable so far, Brigham Young looks good. Utah sacrificed Arkansas on live television last night. Texas Tech is still there Arizona state dominated A&M everywhere but where you're supposed to, which is on the scoreboard yesterday dominant is a strong word. I know luchi is going to call me before this sentence ends. Kansas State quietly took care of business last night Houston's got their shot this Friday. Who knows where the big 12 is going to go. Now in the interest of where I'm going this week, can I just make a small argument for Auburn? A small argument. I'm not asking for him to be top 10, but Auburn's 2 and O and Auburn unlike some of you scheduled a P4 opponent in week one. They scheduled last year's number one preseason SEC quarterback DJ Lagway and they beat him in week one. They beat Baylor in week one and then they came home and they disposed of the eagles of Southern Miss in week two. And after all that, you people don't give them a single first, not a first place vote. Auburn didn't get a single vote, Jesse. You know who did pit JMU shame on Billy Napier for what he did yesterday shame on him Virginia tech North Dakota state, all of these teams have votes Auburn has no vote. And I just want to know why I want to know why, but Auburn's got their shot against Florida, not quite ranked, but at least received votes. The Florida Gators LSU at 7 is laughable because again, if you tell me that we're just going on vibes here, we're going on marrying ourselves to our preseason predictions, whatever outside of that, there's no way that you look at what LSU has done so far and look at what Indiana has done and say, Oh, Indiana's resume warrants top five, whereas LSU does not. I don't even care if you think Indiana's going to be better, wait for them to prove it. Is that not how voting should work? I guess not. I guess not. You want to know another complete and utter screw job that's happening here, Duke. No one else is going to stand up for him. I will. Duke, like Auburn, did not receive a single vote this week. Duke, all they've done so far, is beat two lane, one of the best G six teams in the country. And then they went into Illinois yesterday and won. Compare that to what Oregon's done. Oregon also beat a really quality G six program and then went on the road and lost at Oklahoma State and their ranked 21st, Duke, two and a, with a very similar task on their hands and nowhere to be found. Why? Because Duke, that's why, because drugs, that's why, Texas and Texas A&M, according to the current AP poll, each have half a dozen, top 25 opponents left. Louisville and SMU play this weekend, it's a big game. Does the result of that game bump the ACC down to having just three ranked teams? And that's pending Virginia holds on to that 25 spot, which is also low, by the way. That's a curiosity of mine. And then the other, this one will really be fun to round it out. Question for the chat. How many SEC teams will be ranked after this weekend? Because there is a path. There's a scenario where they've got 11 ranked teams after this weekend. Just for effect. What you probably need, you probably need South Carolina over Mississippi State. But honestly, Mississippi State could be ranked to maybe Florida, over Auburn, and everyone else takes care of business. Who knows? I'm not talking about all that. I'm saying the play that he has Saturday, I think will, it'll grab a lot of eyeballs. Camario Taylor, 16 of 22, 227 through the air, three touchdowns, paper pops everywhere here. A 13 rushes, 86 yards, isn't that great news, Jesse? It's phenomenal news and it would be great news if everyone believed in him. I know I believed in him, but unfortunately, and I don't want to get too specific here. There are some people out there, maybe people with their own show, maybe people who hail from the state of Mississippi, maybe even people who claim to be the number one Mississippi state fan walking this planet who didn't believe. Now I've taken, I've taken good care to edit out the name here for the sake of anonymity. But this is a screenshot. I screen shot this text chain that I had with this anonymous person last week and I said on Monday, if you're smart, you'll brand this week as Camario Taylor versus the big 10. And he said, no, because I think we're going to lose. And I said, you're going to win. And he said, I've been a state fan for a long time. And I said, yeah, but I did their hype video. And then he said, I think we're going to be one and two and then shot Bama or Oklahoma. Again, that's an anonymous person. Where's Coach Laura? I am Ryan Day. I just want to know where Coach Laura is in the live chat now. So yeah, needless to say, Mississippi State was a big winner in week one. You know who else was a big winner, although it's kind of weird. If you look at the box score, Texas A&M, 48 to 20, this was like a bad lock stat bowl. If you're new to the show, a padlock stat is just like the most important key to the game. A bad lock stat is if I were to have shown you this stat 20 minutes before the game, you would never have picked the right winner. So like if I said, there's a team who's going to out gain another team, 369 to 255. And that team that only had 255 yards is also going to be a four of 14 on third and fourth down. What would you have thought? And then what would you think if I say, yeah, that team that got out gained by over 100 and went four of 14 on third and fourth down, that team won by four touchdowns, because that's what happened yesterday. Marcel Reed was very up and down. This team was very up and down, but you know what else was up and down Arizona State turned to the ball over because they were minus three in turnovers. They also had two turnovers on downs and that's how important. it is to possess the football. And now, what does Kenny Dillingham get for his trouble? He has to go to London to play. Who? Kansas? Isn't that right, Jesse? Kansas and, uh, is it true that Kansas and Arizona state don't have stadiums on campus? They both have stadiums. Oh, what do they have like 50 or 60 home games this year? Oh no, it was only going to be like eight. And we're going to take one of those and we're going to put it in Europe. Got you. Okay, grow the game by all means. Yeah, grow the game. There's nothing like Sun Devil Football at, uh, what, like nine a.m. I don't even know when the game kicks off. Stupidest thing in the world. Playing games overseas. College football, stupidest thing in the world. Anyway, uh, Tennessee 4524 over Georgia Tech. There are some doubters out there in the Tennessee fan base. So Tennessee had about 300 yards on the ground. Uh, the big question that my Tennessee buddies are hitting me with is, all right, so so far we play Furman. We play Georgia Tech, good for us. Blah, blah, blah. We're two and oh, I'm dead serious. This is their mood. Uh, their stance is they still think it's seven and five or eight and four because when they play someone who's legitimate on the line of scrimmage, they're going to get exposed. It seems pretty negative to me, but the good news is after Kennesaw State comes to town, uh, Texas will come to town. So we'll find out, we'll find out phase on brand and, uh, not a, not an overwhelming stat line, but they did what it took to win. Teams were allowed to get better, guys. You know, it's not like this is a finished product or anything like that. I mentioned already Duke against Illinois, Duke wins 31 27. Good for them, man. I'll vote them. I turned down an AP vote. So I, I guess that's a little hypocritical. I wish that I could vote for Duke. But this is supposed to be a down year for them, right? And then Nate Shepard ran for 147 Walker E get like, this is what happens when Darian Mensa leaves you. You're just supposed to implode and Duke has the audacity to continue trying shame on Duke for that. That's from the AP voters to you shame on you. Lay down, Duke. Just lay down. Do your job. Be a dormat. I think Duke is bothering AP voters by winning. That's what I think. Oh, no. I forgot this part of the show was coming up. You'll notice that we have not played music on the show yet. But that is about to change. Something terrible happened in Salt Lake City last night. And it involves Utah, Arkansas, and Sarah McLaughlin. Because this week's Sarah McLaughlin special is the Arkansas Razorbacks. Arkansas opened up 3-0. And that's where the good news ends. Utah went on to hang 43 unanswered. Arkansas has lost seven straight road games. They've lost 12 straight regular season games, versus FBS competition. Their current win total at Fandool is three and a half. And to be honest, I have no clue where Fandool is finding three wins for them, much less four. So that thing's heavily juiced to the under, but not heavy enough. So Traybitty, good friend of ours. One of the best pieces of content on the internet is Traybitty's post Arkansas game walk-and-talk. I've never seen a more dejected human being in my life than Traybitty just aimlessly wandering around the bowels of rice echo stadium last night. I printed off this picture. This is the last known whereabouts of Traybitty. Somewhere it looks like in an Indonesian factory. This is in Utah Stadium somewhere. No one's seen him today. So guys, if you've seen Traybitty, for that matter, if you've seen legitimate Arkansas football, could you please report them to the proper authorities? Because I badly want Arkansas to be good again. But it seems like a long, long way away. This week's Sarah McLaughlin Special, probably not for the last time this year. The Arkansas Razorbacks. Good luck against Georgia this week. I mentioned Ohio versus Jacksonville State early in the game, and I had video on the bottom of the pile. That's terrible. We throw those papers over. I was morbidly fascinated by Ohio State or not Ohio. Ohio State was on the main screen, but like the main screens right here, Jesse and I'm, I'm side eye on my side screen. Ohio and Jacksonville State played a classic last night. For over time, the weather was horrifically bad. Pit over UCF for that matter. Weather was horrifically bad. In Ohio pulled it out in four OTs, and pit pulled it out, not in OT, but 12 to 7. Bradley, go back to the Ohio lower third for a second, just in case any of the fine folks up there want to clip this. Here was the scene. This stadium's like a third of the way full, and yet crowd noise will still affect her. Huge hat tip to the fans there, fully tarped off by the way at Ohio. What they did in overtime, Jesse, because you can do this at Ohio, is all the students, shirts off are in one end zone, screaming at the top of their lungs, and then they kept going back and forth, different end zones, because of overtime, they kept running all the way outside the stadium and then back in to get to the other end zone. It was the kind of thing where if someone doesn't know anything about college football and you showed it to them, they would think they were watching something from Jupiter. That's not even of this planet. Yes, it is. Yes, it is. Don't tread on Saturday. And lastly, but certainly not leastly, I'm generally not in the business of just handing out child life supremacy by request. Our rule around here is to earn a child of supremacy, you have to do something that promotes the show in a public way. I mean, originally it was people holding up signs behind college game day until we got banned from game day, and we started sending out child life supremacy as a reward, and now they've taken on a life of their own. But we don't normally give them out, Jesse, when people just email us saying, hey, can you give me a child of supremacy? However, one of you emailed me last night and said, I think I deserve a child of supremacy, and I've included evidence. I've included my case. It was a video.
