Week 2 Fantasy Football Reactions & Injuries + Early Week 3 Waiver Wire (Ep. 2206)
50m 11s
Today’s fantasy football landscape was marked by a wave of injuries that significantly disrupted team strategies. Key injuries include Caleb Williams’ hamstring strain, which may sideline him for four to six weeks, and Jaden Daniels’ re-aggravated elbow dislocation, raising serious concerns about surgery and long-term availability. The Panthers’ offense, led by Bryce Young, showed promise with a strong performance, offering a potential counterpoint to the injuries. Meanwhile, Pukani’s hip injury and Jonathan Brooks’ growing strain add to the instability, with both expected to miss at least one week. On the defensive side, the Bears’ offensive receivers struggled, especially in a rain-soaked game against the Vikings, where a defensive stand limited scoring. The Chargers, meanwhile, began the season poorly with a lackluster performance and inconsistent play, despite a new offense under Mike McDaniel. Injuries to key players like Mike Evans, Jadarian Price, and Rico Dowdell also raised concerns, with variable recovery timelines. For fantasy managers, the week highlighted the need for caution in starting players with injury histories, especially in high-risk areas like QBs and tight ends. The combination of early-season injuries and inconsistent team performances created a volatile environment, prompting many to reassess their rosters. While some players like Dalton Schultz and Brock Bowers showed signs of recovery, others like Travis Huchen and Henderson in New Orleans faced troubling splits, indicating potential mismatches in playing time. Overall, the fantasy community is watching closely for injury developments, especially with key players like Pukani and Daniels, while also preparing for potential roster shifts due to the high volume of early-season setbacks. Despite the chaos, the show emphasized that injuries are not always season-ending and that many players, especially with proper recovery, can return to form. Managers are advised to remain flexible, monitor practice reports, and prioritize depth over reliance on injured or inconsistent performers.
This is an I Heart Podcast, guaranteed human. - All right, welcome everybody to the fantasy pros show. Today, it's pretty simple. We're just gonna recap everything that happened today in the fantasy football world. Unfortunately, today, tons of injuries that we're gonna talk about. But I'm joined by Scott Bogman, Dr. Deepak Chona. Scott, we'll start with you. How did you, how did fantasy go with you today? - Fantasy was okay, obviously, a lot of landmines to avoid here. We're gonna have Deepak hot for a while today. And yeah, that was not so much fun. My team, the Steelers also got stomped out by the Patriots. So not the best Sunday for me, but not also not the worst Sunday. We're still watching football. It's still fun. We're still here. So yeah, we'll say a 50/50. Yeah, there you go, we'll take it, we'll take it. Yeah, Deepak, busy day for you today. Unfortunately, Texans fan, not so much fun there, but how are you doing? How's everything going? - Yeah, I'm hanging in there after a rough loss today, but a lot of injuries. So I think, as you said, we're gonna stay distracted at the very least. - Yeah, so yeah, no delay down here. Let's just talk about some injuries. Obviously, there's a ton to talk about. But the main, the big ones here, the two quarterbacks. We got Caleb Williams. We got Jane Daniels. I mean, Caleb Williams, you would have thought that his leg got shot off, but it looks like just a hammy injury. We'll talk about that. Jane and Daniels, obviously, a little bit scary with his elbow. Nico missed the week with a hammy. And then tomorrow night, a little bit scary with a Pukinacua growing hip issue. And then Jonathan Brooks exited with a growing injury. So we'll start with the quarterbacks. And we'll start with Caleb Williams, just because you know, that bear's offense, 59 points last week. Six points this week. What do we think about Caleb Williams and his injury? Yeah, Caleb Williams. So hamstring is kind of the truthfully, like a best case scenario here. He, in general, now, it looked like he was walking without much of a lift afterwards. And they were reassured. These hamstring injuries, the average about two weeks. So very likely he'll at least be out one to two weeks. If you rush him back, the re-entry risk is pretty high. Now, his initial reaction made me think this is at least on the moderate grade severity. His later reaction makes me think this didn't sort of pull off the bone and rupture altogether. That last situation is where it could be a season ending surgical type of injury. So most likely, he's getting an MRI tomorrow. We would get a little more clarity based on grading of the injury. Now, if they say grade one, you're usually looking at two weeks out, grade two, which is where I would suspect this lands is closer to the four to six week range. Now, I would lean four weeks. And I think they would be conservative on their young star quarterback. Usually, you would see a dip in rushing production, not so much effect on passing when he does come back. And the key here is really re-entry risk. Up to about a quarter of players do get injured with these more severe injuries. So we'll get a little bit more clear of a look on what it really is after tomorrow. Yeah, makes sense. And Bogman, hearing hamstring, hearing maybe not severe, has got to be best case scenario when you consider how it looked when he went out. Yeah, when he went just down, running, I was like, it says Cinekeli's, right? I think most people-- That's with everyone. Yeah, most people's brain went to first. Please don't be in Achilles. The weather was nasty. The bears as a whole, we're not doing well before this injury, either. So yeah, just an unfortunate situation. Bajin isn't a bad backup, but of course, no one is killed. So not good for production moving forward, but like Deepak said, hopefully only a little bit here. And they do have an extra data rest because they plan Monday next week. Yeah, yeah. So obviously, we'll talk about the bears a little bit later. So we can move on now to Jaden Daniels, probably the more concerning of the two, considering the re-injury. So Deepak, what do you got there? Yeah, so it looked like a dislocated left elbow, which is the same elbow he dislocated last year. Last year was treated without surgery. And with that in mind, this can be treated again without surgery. But the more dislocations you have, the higher the re-injury risk goes. So at this point, my suspicion is he would probably opt for a surgical stabilization. Now, that would put him out for the year. Otherwise, you would probably expect an IR stint and he come back, but again, probably with a high re-injury risk. So my leaning on a young player is probably the almost-- you could say more conservative route, which is surgery here. And sorry, you said surgery could be the year. Excertery rare likely would be a year long situation. Got it. That's tough. So what does that do for the commanders? I mean, all of them. McLaren digs out a great game today. What does that do to them? Everybody gets lowered on your weekly starting list. And this just really stinks. You saw Croskey Merritt 3.6 yards per carry, 12 carries for 43 yards. Way more of a shot white out of the back field. And obviously, when he's in, they think they're passing. So he had a little bit more running room and had 6.1 yards per carry as well. So just not a good situation overall. Loers are Terry McLaren. It lowers our stuff on dig chairs as well. So digs in McLaren, obviously, a big step down. Everybody is stepped down without J. Daniels in going to Marcus Mariotta. We've seen this circus before. It's not that much fun to watch. Yeah, it's just brutal. I mean, after his rookie year, you thought this is the next Josh Allen and then just two years in a row where he can't stay healthy. But do you think Mariotta becomes like a streamable option as a quarterback himself? Superflex. Yeah, I mean, always going to be in there based on matchups. And he has so much starting experience, he's not. It's not like going to not like if Baker got hurt and you're going to J. Daniels, you know what I mean? Like not someone with zero experience, barely made the team. That type of thing. We know exactly who Marcus Mariotta is. So it lowers everybody. But it's completely tanked their value. Yeah, that makes sense. Cool. All right. We can move on. And we'll go to a game that hasn't been played yet. Tomorrow night, Monday night football, Pukanuku. Obviously, everyone's one, two, or three to begin the year. We heard doubtful. We heard questionable. So Deepak, what are you hearing? And what are you seeing with Pukanuku? Yeah, I would tell you, based on the objective, Crouchyura here, which is his practice reports, two DMPs to end the week over three-fourths of players with that pattern would miss the next game. They also, the comments so far, haven't been super optimistic. Now, Pukan has missed some practice and then surprised us and played in the past. And so I wouldn't totally be shocked if he's out there, but he would be definitely beating the data. And you would expect him to have some degree of kind of a production hit or at least a re-entry risk, because it sounds like a muscular type injury. They're saying it's not the same as the hip flex that he had in the training camp. However, my suspicion is it's very likely related or compensatory type mechanics that led to this. And secondly, we do have to remember with the Rams, we've gotten some so-so injury reporting in the past from them. And McVeigh tends to be optimistic on a lot of these things. Matthew Stafford's back last year. And then a couple years before Pukan's knee, they called it a small burst of injury and then he missed several weeks. So I'm taking everything from them with a grain of salt and looking more at the objective metrics would say he would probably sit. - Gotcha. Yeah. And so Bogman, if you have Pukan, you didn't think that he was gonna be missing. You're probably scrambling a little bit. Obviously, if you have the Vante's in your lineup, Kyron's in your lineup. But where else? Are we going with anybody else on the Rams? - I mean, I don't know who's going to put, maybe Cannata Month field, right? Like if you're really desperate, if you're in a deeper league, maybe Malachi fields is available for the giants in your league, maybe pick him up. So yeah, but there's not, it really stinks to have a questionable guy from Monday night football because he just don't know where to pivot and what to do. So hopefully you're not in that situation, but if you are, I mean, I think Cannata Month field or fields are probably, 'cause Jordan Whittington is doubtful as well. So he's probably down. So Xavier Smith might get in there as well. So there are some options, but they're all pretty gross. - Yeah, and do you think any of the tight ends, Ferguson, all 59 of the tight ends of the time? - I mean, sure. Yeah, everybody, who is going to be the one, right? I, Higby or Parkinson probably, Ferguson didn't do much week one. - Yeah, I was telling this questionable. Yeah, it's, it's not a good spot to be in. That is, one of my buddies started Jaden Reed because he didn't want to go with Fouca today and then Jaden Reed's with his injury, so. - Brutal, brutal. So, all right, well, the last one on the graphic that I got hurt today, and then Nico will talk about with kind of a different group of players is Jonathan Brooks. And I know that we were talking pre-show, that one was a little bit concerning, 'cause there was a re-injury. So Deepak, what do you offer us on Jonathan Brooks? - Yeah, most growing strains average about two weeks, but then re-injuries are usually a little more severe, and usually a little bit more prone to further recurrence if you just keep playing through 'em. So I would very likely expect him to miss next week. Most of these would be multi-week absences, and the average would be close to three to four weeks. - Got it, okay, so, I mean, wheels up on Chuba, right? Fogman? - Yeah, I mean, this has been difficult to deal with from the beginning, right? Like, I was kind of questionable on Brooks coming in. Seth and I talked to Deepak before the season started, and I felt a little better about Jonathan Brooks going in, and then he had the growing injury right before the season, and then re-aggravating it here. So, you know, Bryce Young is the good. So this offense has been humming a little bit. So yeah, Chuba seems like a very nice option right now. - Yeah, yeah, I mean, he's been great. This offense has been good. So, I mean, there's a ton of injuries that we're gonna try and just do some quick hudders just to make sure that we can kind of cover everybody. So players that left today, and correct me if I'm wrong, if I get any of these right, and didn't return, Jaden Reed, Rico Dowdell, he returned, got hurt, and then left again.
Mike Evans, Didarian Price, I didn't see Dobbins. So let me know about Dobbins, Dallas Goddard, David and Joku, not that that's a huge deal, but David and Joku. And then, yeah, I think that's it. So DJ more on Thursday. Oh, good point. Yeah, DJ more on Thursday. Good point. So I know I rattled off a bunch of names there, but just kind of quick hitters on on what if you have anything for any of them. Yeah, let's do it. So starting with DJ more, the average on these is one to two weeks. So it's generally a short-term injury about a quarter of wide receivers would make it back the following week without missing time. And of course, he has three extra days. So that kind of works in his favor as well. If he does play this week, you'd usually expect some sort of dip because it sort of hurts to reach across your body and overhead, which is a key for a wide receiver. But with that being said, most players would miss one week and come back the following. Then we go to Mike Evans hip injury. He was reportedly seen jogging into the tunnel and the game was essentially in hand at that point. So hard to know what the true severity of it is. The reports early so far make me not overly concerned. But Mike Evans in general is a sort of high risk player given age and soft issue history. So we've got to watch his practice reports. I would suspect he plays next week, but TBD on that. Jadarian price, they called it a chest issue. Usually these are rib either fractures or contusions and often can be played through like you saw Lad McConkey today with usually a decrease in touches for running backs, also typically wearing like a protective vest and sometimes getting an injection. So I would anticipate him being a short term absence, if at all. With regard to Jaden Reed, that looked pretty scary. I think it was probably a precaution based on what we're hearing after the fact that they put him on the board. And I would suspect he misses about two weeks and then comes back. And then sorry, I lost the list here. Rico got her. Yeah. So Rico, he re injury of the toe that he injured earlier in the day makes me think he's probably going to see very limited touches if he plays at all more likely out. Dobbins, I have a little concern about given his significant history as well. They called it a hamstring. He in most cases would miss at least a game. Average on those is about two weeks. And we'll kind of know more about severity as the week goes on. And then with regard to Goddard, it sounded like he banged knees. I couldn't really see the injury on the tape. So if that's the case, you would expect him to come back pretty soon here. So I think that covers that big. Yeah. Yeah. I mean tough, tough week, tough week for sure. And then we have some guys that got injured came back. We have some guys that missed this week. Obviously, some more important than others. But let's talk about Nico, because I know he's had hamstring injuries. I know he was out this week. I believe he was diagnosed with a grade one strain, I correct me if I'm wrong there. So what do you think about Nico next week, two weeks? What's it going to be? Yeah. Average is two weeks. And he sustained the injury on a Wednesday. So keeping that in mind as well. In addition to his very significant hamstring history, I would think he misses this coming week and then returns the following. Now, there will be some degree of re injury risk. But the production impact, if it's truly a grade one strain, is actually pretty low. So you would expect him to come back at near full strength. Okay. That's good. And then I mean, Schultz had a great game today. Bogman is, I mean, I can't say I was dialed into that Texans film. And I don't know about their next week's matchup. But is there anybody that you're starting in place in Nico? If he's out again next week? Not really. They spread the ball around a bunch. So Dalton Schultz was the best one. And come right into anything today either. So just a rough day for the Texans overall. But Schultz had a nice one. So that is probably our pivot point among past catchers for the Texans. Yeah. Yeah. Makes sense. And then some players that got hurt and came back real quick. If there's anybody I miss, let me know. But Ashton Genti and Sequan Barkley, two big, obviously big name running back. So what do you have? What do you have for them? Yeah. Ashton Genti, he kind of limped off, but he walked off on under his own power. But he did return shortly after. So relatively low concern there. Sequan, they called it a stinger. And he's getting, he did return in the game. And then he's getting an MRI this probably tomorrow, typically with a stinger. The MRI is just to confirm that there's no underlying structural damage. Stingers are very short-term injuries, very severe short-term injuries. But they wear off pretty quick. So we wouldn't expect any deficit going into the week as long as the MRI confirms that. Got it. So hopefully we got we got wheels up on both of them next week. So just some updates on players that missed this week that maybe maybe not have have back next week. Zay flowers, Brock Bowers, Colour Murray, RJ Harvey. What do you got on them? Yeah, Colour Murray. It looks like he's trending towards clearing concussion protocol and playing this coming week. Now, whether they start him or not, that's kind of TBD. But with regard to Zay flowers, optimistic because he did return to practice in a limited fashion on Friday. So he would be also trending towards playing the coming week. With regard to his concern is really more re-injury risk this does sound mild, but it is also already a re-aggravation. So a little bit prone to having a this pop up again in season. But again, he should when he's playing, you kind of have to start him because he should play at near pre-injury level. And then with regard to Brock Bowers, this he also returned to a limited practice. He was seen kind of warming up jogging routes essentially against air, which is all pretty optimistic for his ability to play this coming week. Now, he is beating average timelines by about a week to two weeks to return after this menisk is trimming. But with that being said, it's very doable. It has been done as little as two weeks after the surgery. And most players within about two weeks are at pre-injury level. So I would basically consider Bowers a must start if you have them. Okay. That was going to be my question. So Bob, if you have Bowers, he's in your lineup if he's playing next week. Dude, I, so in one of my leagues, I held, I dropped my kicker and I held mayor and Bowers and I just went, okay, I'm going to pick up a kicker when they finally mark Bowers as out or I'm going to drop, it was mayor. I'm going to drop mayor, pick up my kicker, if Bowers plays. They didn't do it until like 30 minutes before the game. So I picked up, I picked up Will Lutz and was able to put Brock Bowers on my IR finally. But yeah, I mean, I'm, I'm holding it. If Brock Bowers plays, I am putting him in my lineup every single time, basically. Yeah, you pretty much have to. So all right, was it was anybody that I missed? I want to make sure that we cover everybody. I know that we had a ton of injuries this week. So I just want to make sure that we don't miss anybody important. I think that's everybody for now, right? Quick update on Sam Darnold. It sounds like he is ahead of what they expected as his pace. The overall outlook on this is probably week four to five. Based on the comments, I would lean a little bit towards week four. And beyond that, I think you covered everybody. Is this weird? This Sam Darnold thing Deepak? Is it weird? Because it's like, you know, we hear one report say four to six weeks and the next report says, well, he's not going to play this week, but maybe it's going to be week three. Is it just a strange reporting? How does that work? Yeah, he also got four opinions on the injury. So you can think about this as like a relatively high severity injury. And probably the four opinions led to some degree of like a range that you're seeing there. Now, my suspicion is that he tore his glute tendon and that can be something that you can play through and then maybe fix later. If you need to or maybe even not fix, but but again, the idea of why it's a like a lot of mixed reporting is I think because he got so many opinions and it's not that common of an injury. There's not really data to go off of in this case. So they haven't given us a clear diagnosis, but that's kind of what my suspicions are reading between the lines. I feel like when you get four opinions, it's because you're not happy with the first three. Is that that's just my dumb brain? Is that accurate? Yes and no. I think there are some people for which that's completely true. And then there are others for which, you know, if the first two opinions don't agree, the move is generally to get a tiebreaker. And if there's still kind of dissenting opinions or, you know, somebody's not sure using sort of a fourth opinion would be the move. Now, when it's that many opinions, it makes me think like he was considering a surgical versus non-surgical kind of decision. So a big decision. But again, it's it's one of those that they haven't really released the full information. I think we're just lucky that one, he didn't fracture the hip and to he didn't tear anything inside of it. But this is still a high-energy injury to sort of have the weight of the defender drive through his hip as he did. So I think he's just truthfully very lucky in how it turned out. Got it. Yeah, we'll talk to having back, but at least Jason was able to play well and then some with with through locks or at least there are no concerns there. Well, Deepak, thank you for for joining us. Thank you for going through the litany of injuries. We'll talk about Sharp AI, but then and then after that, we'll talk about our big takeaways for today and stuff like that. But yeah, Deepak, thank you. Thanks Deepak up. All right. So we got there we go. All right. Back to two of us. We're going to talk about recap. We're today a bunch of stuff about what happened today. But before we do, I want to talk to you guys about Polymarket and Polymarket is a new prediction market. Obviously called Polymarket stock exchange for sports, buying in, selling out on your teams. When your team goes down 20%, you can buy in and then you can sell it off at 40% when they come back to double your money. And then they can lose and you still made that money back. Polymarket is so confident you'll never go back to the other guys if they're giving you a free $50 on your first trade when you deposit just $10. So download the Polymarket app.
today use FPPOD when you sign up. That's FPPOD to get $50 free after you trade just 10. And all right, let's talk about today. So last week, after week one, all fences are back. You know who's back? All fences. We had averages of 48 point or 49.4 points teams themselves average 24.7 through one p or through the games through four that finished by the time that had finished by 730. So I think we're just missing one game average 36.2 points per game 18.1 points per team. Scott, what do you have to say about that? So last week, the high scores this week, the low scores, I think it's training camp in a lack of preseason games, right? Like we all we all don't. I heard Trevor Sikimah talking about this recently. And we all want more regular season games and less preseason games, less practice, less ramp up time. But these guys need the ramp up time. The the tacklers needed it to tackle last week, which they didn't specifically the Colts. We'll see them in a little bit here. And then this week, we saw the tackling was great, but the timing was off. Also a lot of injuries, a lot of, you know, hopefully soft tissue things that don't extend as Deepak gave us, you know, mainly positive news today. So even with a lot of injuries. But yeah, man, I just I think that, you know, week one was, I think both of these can be attributed to a lack of ramp up time and a lack of actual physical practices. You know, we're done with two days, which, you know, no player wants to bring back and I don't blame them. But maybe a little more harsher practices or kick a preseason back game back in or something or play your guys in the preseason, right? Like Steelers offense looks like absolute garbage. General Rogers never plays in the preseason. I wonder why it looks bad, right? That and DK McCap has no hands. Yeah, it's talking like a true Steelers fan. Yes. So yeah, obviously the big theme last week, scoring is up. Not necessarily a huge theme this week, but scoring was definitely down. But in terms of like what actually happened today, what's number one or not number one that's in terms of importance? But it's what's the first storyline that you want to talk about today? I mean, the fantasy fallout of the Caleb Williams entry, right? And just the bears past catchers not looking good overall. And I know we had a lot of complaints about that in the chat here. A lot of people want to burn Colson leveling down to the ground. Point eight points and half PPR today. Burton had four half PPR points. So Dune say had 5.8. I mean, it was just, it was a rough day for everybody. I think obviously the weather had a little something to do with this, but Khalif Raymond played more snaps, ran more routes than Luther Burton again today. We didn't see nearly as much success, but the Vikings defense might be a thing too. Like they have looked good two weeks in a row. They held the bears to three points. That is impressive after, you know, all we heard about was Ben Johnson talk about how we're going to set the scoring record and all this stuff. After last week, scoring 59 points and you get held three points today. So, you know, worry. Yes, panic. No, if you want to, I wouldn't panic drop. Lovelin. I wouldn't panic drop anybody really. But I am concerned and depending on the the length of this injury for Caleb Williams, again, I like Tyson Beijing. I think he's a good backup quarterback, but he's a backup for a reason, right? So everyone is going to take a tick down specifically if Caleb does have to miss any time. Yeah. And I think what's scary about the bears receivers is, you know, last week they scored 59 points. And like none of the top three guys you drafted on the receiving side you were happy with. Obviously, we got the goose from from Lovelin. Burton was okay. Like he didn't kill you and then Rome and limited snaps. Yeah, it didn't do much. And then yeah, this week in the rain and a good, in a good defense against the Vikings, but a defense that at least saw like Christian Watts and obviously had a great game last week against that same defense. And Caleb got hurt deep into the fourth quarter. So it wasn't like the Sam Darnel thing where he got hurt on the first drive. So, yeah, I'm with you like you're not dropping anybody, but probably like you said about like, but the commander is probably lowering your rankings if I had to guess. Yeah. And I don't hate like if you actually are worried about Lovelin and you have the room for it on your roster. I don't mind picking up a second tight end. And if you just don't like the matchup or you do like the matchup for whoever you pick up playing that guy while, you know, they work through these issues, specifically if Caleb is down, I understand that I, you know, trade Lovelin before you cut him. Someone will buy. I would say that. So if you are really upset, you want this guy off your team, put him on the block. I think someone will buy a low on him and you'll least get something back for him that you want or need. Yeah, I'm guessing like a Dalton Schultz, if he's still on your waiver wire, somebody that you can kind of throw on your lineup that that's not going to kill you. Waller scored twice today. Yeah, there's there's options. So yeah, Waller. Yeah. How about that? And we're going to talk about talk about Bryce Young a little bit, which what you'll do now, point number two. What do you got to say about the Panthers? Bryce Young has six touchdowns in the last two games. I mean, we did not expect this 23 for 37, 361 and three in a pick. Again, Chicago, you also ran for a touchdown in that game. This week, not quite as good, but they didn't need it to be as good because Atlanta is garbage 23 36 287 and three more scores. This looks like they're humming a little bit, right? Like I'm not going to sit here and tell you that look, I'm way into Carolina and that they are going to be great from this point moving forward. They do play the Browns next week, though. So I mean, maybe Bryce Young can keep this humming. They did Cleveland won today. I don't really know how that works, but they did win. Their secondary is still very questionable. So I think that Bryce Young might have another good game and we're seeing even like that look good today. I mean, the whole offense is looking good. I wish Brooks was healthy enough to look good in this offense. So, but yeah, Bryce Young is becoming a little bit of a thing right now. And the last time we saw Bryce Young last year that playoff loss against the Rams, one of the better games he played. I remember being worried about the Panthers past catchers this year, especially tech, because obviously he went a little bit higher. Bryce Young was like barely throwing for 200 yards of game last year. So if he can keep, maybe, obviously, maybe not a pace of three touchdowns a game, but if he can at least put up respectable numbers weekly, then obviously you're going to be happy with with the past catchers. So my question to you is, they play the Browns next week. I don't know if their schedule tightens up or gets tougher. Are you going to sell high on anybody on the Panthers? If they have another week like they had next week than another week like that? I'm willing to sell on anyone that is in Tenerola, McMillan. Okay. I'm willing to sell on Coker because of the quad issue that he had. And even last week after having that enormous week ends up in a boot, but he played. It's just that annoyance of the questionable, especially starting in week two, which is always me. I don't think Waller is going to continue to score so many touchdowns. And even if his role is good, he's also very old. And he missed time last season after coming back as well. Chuba and Brooks, I assume the healthier Brooks gets the more split that will become. So another really good week for the Panthers, if people start to buy in, I'm probably going to be starting to sell as you alluded to. Yeah. Yeah. That makes sense. Cool. All right. What do you got next? How about the ugly touch split between the backs in New Orleans with Alvin Camara coming back Travis such as eight for 25, two catches for six yards, 31 of 61 snaps. Alvin Camara only played 20 snaps, but he touched the ball 14 times in those 20 snaps. Nine carries for 15 yards. So not very good. Five catches for only seven yards. So not a good game overall for either one of these backs against the Ravens, but they both touched the ball. And Camara touched the ball more. I mean, this is a really ugly split from moving forward. I would assume that you gave all this money to Travis Huchen. He is going to, I assume this is going to be closer to 60, 40 in H&N's favorite moving forward, but this really is not a good look. And I'm probably panicking a little bit if I'm the Travis Huchen or. Yeah. I don't blame you. It's scary. And I think what made it at H&N so good last year is who's so good through the air. And if Camara is stealing all that receiving work, I'm just not as comfortable with him through the between the tackles. So yeah, it's definitely scary. And it's also you love that offense. So that's like you want pieces of it. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, they they looked really bad for three quarters against the Lions, but then turned it on and brought the same type of energy to this game. They looked real good. But yeah, it was 13 routes run for Travis Huchen and then eight for Alvin Camara and CJ Donaldson even got in 20 snaps as well. So really kind of he only touched the ball once. Yeah, one Gary and no target. So, but it was really a gross three-headed monster, 37, 20, and 20. So hopefully we get more towards H&N and less towards Camara, but we'll see how it goes. This was an ugly split to start with both of them healthy. Yeah, sure was. And I mean, Camara is just such a legend in that city. You just don't know if he's what it's going to look like. So yeah, not great, not great. But what's point number four? How about his trivia on Henderson to lead back to the Patriots now? I don't think he is, right? But what we do know is that Mike Rabel is a Hordeau, right? Like doesn't want to start the young guy. But also if you fumble, you don't fumble.
my football son. You go to the bench and that's kind of what happened to Ramon Ray. He did come back in a second half after fumbling. He did start this game as well. But Anderson 33 or 55 snaps 12 routes run. Stevenson 20 or 55. So 13 fewer 11 routes run. So they ran about the same amount of routes, but way more touches for Henderson 16. Kerry Stevenson had six carries two targets and one catch and obviously that fumble loss. So I don't know how far the fumble problem is going to carry into the season 4 Stevenson, right? Like he could be starting next week and it would not be a shock, right? And I think I would assume that's probably what's going to happen. But I do think that this is going to be an uglier and uglier 50 50 snap and 50 50 split share. And I was listening to I cannot remember his name. The guy who owns Boston Sports Journal, one of my sealers podcasts this week. And he was talking about someone asked him about Henderson and he said, I'm assuming this is a fantasy question and then went on for five minutes about how Ramon Ray is so much better of a back. And then he comes out in fumbles and Henderson has way more touches. So I think it is truly more split than people want to give a credit to. And I do think eventually Henderson is the lead back by the end of the year. So that's kind of my opinion on it. I've said that throughout the whole off season, what about what do you think, Moira? Do you think this is going to be more split leaning towards Stevenson, like most people think? Or do you think that Henderson has a chance to take this role? Yeah, it's interesting. You know, ahead again to the year, I was all in on Ramon Ray Stevenson and I was all out on Trayvon Henderson. You know, Trayvon could rip off a 70 yard touched on run every each and every week and they are not going to take Ramon Ray off the field. Like you're right, he's just a hard-to-coach. And Ramon Ray's had fumbling problems in his career and it just hasn't seemed to matter. They just still like putting him on the field. And I don't think that's going to change. I was surprised. If you had asked how I thought this split would go this week, I thought it would be predominantly Ramon Ray, especially like Trayvon sent me back from an angle. I didn't start Henderson in a bunch of spots because I didn't think he was going to get many touches. Yeah. And I did start Ramon Ray in a team that's just absolutely in shambles. That has Caleb Williams, but that's not even either here or no there. So I do think that it's going to be an aggravating 50/50 split. And when you watch them, it feels even more aggravating because Ramon Ray's game isn't as sexy as Trayvon Henderson. Like when Trayvon breaks off a run, it's, it's, it's, it's like Jermir Gibbs' light. Whereas Ramon Jay is just kind of, just kind of plots. But he's a good pass protector. He knows where to be. They leaned on him in the playoffs last year. So I just don't, I don't, I don't think it's going to be as bad as it was this week. I think it's going to be closer to 50/50 if I had to guess. Gross. Nobody likes that. Which is gross. Which is gross, which, which means like, can you feel comfortable starting any of them? Right. Right. So we'll, we'll see, we'll see how it goes. But I'm, I'm clearly camp Henderson have been since the offseason. I've probably watched too much college football. And the last point here, the Chargers man, they look bad. Two losses in a row. I mean, everyone heard the stat. Oh, and two for the first time for Herbert and Harbaugh in their lives, which is just kind of crazy. That's especially for Harbaugh, who is very old. But the Cardinals and the Raiders too, Herbert, 192 yards, touchdown and two picks, lad, 35 yards on three targets and three receptions. Obviously, a little can be coming in. QJ is dropable at this point. Gadsden, even though he scored a touchdown might be dropable, depending on how bad in Joku is hurt because in Joku and Kohler are playing ahead of him for the most part. And Trey Harris mix in here. This looks like a big glob of grossness in terms of who is touching the ball and the production when they have the ball. No one could hand them fumble today. So, you know, we're not, you don't ever want to tell people to sweep this under the rug and ignore it. But I do think that the Chargers will get better. The more we have experience in this Mike McDaniel system, right? But it looks really ugly to start the season and I don't blame people for panicking. Yeah, and it's, for me, it's not even like the stats, you know, we're fancy. We want the stats. They just look out of sync. Like it just, nothing just looks right. They're off, they're off timing, they're off schedule. Everything just looks harder than it should be. And I mean, we just saw the Seahawks put up 31 points. We saw JSN have a huge game. Like it's, this was against the Cardinals, the team that the Chargers couldn't do anything against last week. So, it's scary. It's scary. And I don't, and yeah, QJ was somebody that I wasn't high on. So that makes me feel a little bit a little bit, like heading into the year. So at least like, all right, I'll take that victory lap. But I loved Lad. I loved Hampton. I liked the Mike McDaniel offense. Like what he did for HN, what he did for Waddle and Hill, the years prior to that. So, I mean, I don't think you could find an analyst that wasn't excited about Mike McDaniel going to the Chargers. Everyone was excited about it. And it just has not worked very well yet. So, doesn't mean it won't. We're through 217th of the season. But, you know, we, it doesn't look good right now. I think the only one that I'm starting and feeling okay about it is a Mary and Hampton. And he fumbled and looked bad. So, that's probably, you know, Herbert even is a tough start right now in a 1 QB league. So, yeah, it's ugly. It's not great. It's not great. And speaking of ugly panicking, we're going to talk about the panic meter coming up next. But before we do, I want to talk to you guys about the fantasy football championship belt giveaway. So, I want to get everybody. Get your comments in. Let us know who you want us to talk about. And we'll give you our rating on them. One to 10. How much we are panicking about them. One means we're not panicking. Ten means we're in full-blown panic mode. And we'll just go through it. So, I just just going through here. Monty, where is your panic on Monty? Like a five. I think this offense looks way different without Niko. We heard Deepak talking about how Niko is either going to be back this week or the following week. I tell you what, I'm more impressed with the Bengals defense than I am panicking about Monty, which doesn't make me feel good because I am a Steelers fan and the Steelers play the Bengals next week. So, after not looking good on offense, two weeks in a row. So, not wholly completely panicking, but it has to be something in there, because he looked terrible today. So, I would say like a four or five. So, not really panicking, but he's on the watch list for the panic meter for sure. The panic watch list for sure. Yeah, he's somebody that I wasn't super high on. So, I'll probably go like a three or four. But not a full blow. Not a full blow in panic. What about Marvin Harris and June here? Nine. I mean, how high can we get on this without absolutely being ridiculous? But dude couldn't get anything going today. I didn't see if he even finished with a catch. I saw he had two targets with nothing when we fired up here. So, a terrible day for him. Everything's going to McBride. Everything's going to Wilson, Love and Al Jair getting theirs. He's getting nothing. Yeah, he needs a change of scenery. They got to get him out of there. I will feel way, way, way better about Marv. If they get him out of Arizona and trade him for a bucket of footballs or whatever it is, like just get him out of there and get him to a different scenario because he doesn't fit anything in Arizona. They're not even looking his way. Everything looks bad. And I'm genuinely surprised by this. I get it both ways because on the dynasty show, I made a comment about, you know, this might be the last year. I'm done. If he doesn't have a good year, but I expect them to have a good year, well, I might just be done because the good year doesn't seem to be happening. Yeah, 10 out of 10 for me. I don't know what happened. One of the best water seep of prospects we've ever seen coming out of Ohio State. He was just he checked every single box. Who the heck knows? It just less than learned. It doesn't always translate. And let's just hope Jeremiah Smith is not another Marvin Harrison Jr. I guarantee he's not he's not Marvin Harrison. No, I'm with you. I'm with you. I'm with you. What about the bucks? I mean, two two gross games, a loss to the browns. Where are we at on the on the bucks? Yeah, I don't know if it's holy the bucks. I think this panic needs to be placed on Baker, right? Like you can't beat the Browns and and we know Baker is the ultimate ship on your shoulder type of guy. He wants to go anyone who has wronged him in the past. He needs to go after now. He is the machine that drives the offense. Of course, everybody takes it down to get Baker. It's just going to not live up to his potential this season. But I do think this will get better. But it has to be on a radar because it's been bad two weeks ago. So I'd say five and a half like there's definitely worry there. I do think this will get better at you know, a book. I will be working away from this toe thing that he's had. The rest of the wider receiver core will get a little bit healthier as well. A buckies look good. So there's that. But yeah, I think this mainly this mainly stands on Baker's shoulders. And I think everyone is surprised that he didn't have a great game against the browns. Yeah, I agree. I'm concerned, seven, eight for me.
Um, mostly because like a Buckeye to find fantasy performance today. That was just because he caught a touchdown off. That was a nice play by Baker. I'll give him that, but, um, but yeah, we'll do a couple more. And then we'll, um, answer real questions, not just the panic stuff. Um, where we got on Drake May, great fantasy year last year. Obviously lost AJ Brown, two bad games in a row. Yeah. I'm not panicking quite yet on, uh, Drake May. That's two really tough defenses to face week one or week two, right? The, the, the Steelers defense. There's a, as good on defense as they are bad on offense. So if you want to watch the offense and see how ugly that is, they are really, really good on defense. And Seattle's defense is still top notch as well. So that's two really bad matchups, uh, in a row to start the season. So I think it will get better. Obviously, it'll be best when AJ Brown comes back. Yeah, we got maybe six, three, yeah, you put a number on that. So like a three, like, not, not, I'm not too worried right now. Yeah, I, I would probably go closer to like a five. I'm, I'm not obviously dropping him, but I, I would like to see if I could start somebody else and just, just at least let him get some good games on the res belt. Um, we talked about the bears. We'll do these both back to back burden and Loveland. Um, Loveland is, it's got to be over a five, right? Like I, because I'm personally not panicking. But the guy hasn't done anything two weeks in a row and Caleb is banged up now. So it has to be like a six, a five or six, like, like I said before, pick somebody else and bench him if you possibly can. If you have that room on your roster, if not, I'm probably still going to roll them out there. I'll take another third dud in a row before I really start to panic. Uh, but I do think that'll get better burden burden. You know, we had some bears fans in here talking about how he was getting targeted by Beijing. So, uh, maybe a little less on burden, but he was probably your wide receiver three anyway, or your flex option is a borderline guy. So we want to start him, but if you have to bench him and start, you know, Chuba or somebody else in that range at your flex spot, I would be okay with that for sure. Cool. All right. Well, appreciate everybody in the comments and get your questions in because we'll do a quick Q&A at the end right up here until some of the night football starts. Uh, there we go. I did not see there we go. Thank you. Um, what do I do with HN and is Malik Willis a drop? I think in a one QB league, Malik Willis is a drop in Superflex. I'm not dropping him yet. Uh, obviously, you know, first time starting for this team, new offense, everything and also badwiders, you were so I'm giving him a little grace. If I'm in a Superflex league, uh, HN, I think is going to be okay. I think we'll see improvements from, uh, this offense as we go forward. They're not going to be a great offense this year. I don't think anyone expects that it's a borderline of are the dolphins going to take Jeremiah Smith one overall or a quarterback one overall. If Malik Willis is, uh, terrible this year, I think that's kind of where we're all sitting. So in a one QB league, Malik Willis is absolutely a drop in, uh, in a Superflex. I'm still holding him and HN. There's not a lot you can do with. I'm, I'm still rolling HN out there. Yeah, he can't, yeah, maybe you're treating him high. But I'm not sure how many people would even do that. And that question was from Panda of love 7724. Thank you for the question. Thank you. And we got one from a bunting 74 D is Daniels, a buy in a dynasty rebuild. This is a difficult question to answer bunting. I would say yes, uh, because he's probably going to be unbelievably cheap right now. You're going to have someone a manager that is super frustrated holding this guy last year, holding him through the, the whole, uh, off season. And then he gets hurt immediately again. So I'll say yes, because, uh, he is going, his price should be pretty much at an all time low right now. So I, I'll say he is a buy currently. Yes. Wouldn't go much more than a second round pick for from 2027 though. I don't know if I trade a 27 second. You definitely can't give up at first. No, no way, no way, not in this class. Absolutely not. I'm with you throwing all for I'm the type of person in a fancy league. I'll send you 15 to 35 offers and you can tell me if you don't like it. That's the kind of a fantasy player I am. Um, the next question from MF Jones 1988. So we just talked about MHJ. Do you think he's a safe drop in a 10 teamer in a 10 team keeper, too? Yes. Oh, keeper. Yeah. Yeah, even in a keeper, I think in a 10 man, 100% and a 10 man keeper. Yeah, I mean, even if he's a really good deal, who cares? So there's got to be someone on the wire better than him right now. So, uh, maybe it's a little hyperbolic to do this in week two, but I'm done. I think I'm all the way out. I'm, I'm with you. I would try to trade them. There's got to be somebody and nine other people in your league that might just want to buy in on the talent. Maybe a red builder throwing a dart with like a ground pick. So you can get a late pick or something instead of flat out straight up dropping him. But yeah, try that first. But I, if there's someone on the wire that's really good, I'm not holding them. Yeah. And if you, if you have to drop somebody and like he's, nobody else is even worthy of a dropped. And yeah, totally fine to get to, to drop him, um, dash with JMO. If this is James and Williams, I lost some money on you the last couple of weeks. Um, how much fab should I spend on Coleman if I have RB depth needs? Ooh, this is a good one. Um, I would say like maybe 20 to 25%. I think Coleman's going to be a stud. I think he's might be the best back on team currently. Uh, he showed out a little bit today, but it doesn't mean that he, like, if Harvey is back next week, like Deepak kind of alluded to and Dobbins injury isn't major. He's still going to be third. I think he might have been forth coming in here because I saw a day get, get a little bit, uh, before him. But after this performance today, I think he has pushed himself past today. He should, uh, and I think he has pushed himself into this rotation moving forward. He looked pretty good out there today. So I would say a decent, you know, 20 ish percent somewhere in that neighborhood. Is that that too much more I or you in agreement? No, I was thinking 25. If you have running back depth needs, I mean, if like Harvey, I think nobody's kind of super in on and Dobbins. You're kind of almost just like waiting for the injury. And I love the town of, of Jonah Coleman. I, I made the comparison that like I would not be shocked if he's a league winner. Like Alvin Camaro was his rookie year. Um, if you remember, like heading into that year, he was behind, um, Ingram and Adrian Peterson and no, and like, third round pick coming out of Tennessee, like nobody thought he was going to be what he was. And Sean Payton just loved him and I would not be shocked if Jonah Coleman was not going to be Alvin Camaro. I wouldn't be shocked if he puts up some numbers, even in his rookie year. So I'm good with, with 25%. Amen. Amen. I like it. All right. Well, a couple more before Sunday football starts, uh, Jedi Steve. First of all, I love the name, uh, as a Jedi mode, I create name Jedi mode, Jedi Steve 50. How much will Williams injury affect Swift? So obviously this is Caleb Williams and DeAndre Swift. I mean, it will, uh, right because they'll, they'll have eight nine man boxes on a lot of plays for him. But, uh, I think Beijing can slay it a little bit. So, uh, maybe 15% somewhere in that neighborhood, not as much as it probably should, but it's, he still will be affected, of course. Yeah. And I still think that they're going to be a good running team. Like we like that run skiing with Ben Johnson. I don't think that offense is just going to go off of a crater. Um, they, I know they play the Eagles next week. I know that because I'm an Eagles fan on Monday night football. Um, so we'll kind of have to see what that matchup is. For bench game for DeAndre Swift. But, um, the last question here, then we'll go ahead and get on out of here. Thank you, everybody, for, for joining in for the questions from Daniel Kimberin dash B7 B7 X. Do you think Hamptons? You should get hurt after the fumble you had at the end of the game. I know I don't, um, but it's not going to be ineffective, right? Like I, I also don't think, uh, I, I, I think Fightell should be their backup. But that's, I'm just not a key and Mitchell guy. But key and Mitchell is their guy, but I don't think, you know, when you have Stevenson and Henderson who are both really close to each other, then it affects it big time. But you don't have anyone that's anywhere close to what Oh, Mary and Hampton offers you as an RB, in my opinion. So I don't think it will affect him too much, um, you know, the fumble stink, uh, they, uh, really hurt your momentum in your team, which is why we saw Stevenson get bench. But I don't think you can afford to bench Hampton with your offense already looking bad. You need more reps for those guys out there and for everybody to get better, not just Hampton. Yeah, I think it sucks. I think you'll get the same work that he would have gotten if he didn't fumble. It's kind of how I feel. And if, if, if people are worried about that in your league, send a trade-off for like I said, the worst they can say is no, um, but that's going to do it. Um, Bogman, thank you for joining me. This was fun. I love, I love talking fantasy that, I mean, you get to do this on a Sunday night. What gets bet, what's better than that? Um, thank you for spending time with us tonight. Podcast Summary
Key Points:
Caleb Williams sustained a hamstring injury, likely grade two, expected to miss 4–6 weeks with a high re-entry risk, though most likely a short-term absence.
Jaden Daniels suffered a dislocated left elbow—same as last year—raising concerns for surgical intervention and a potential season-ending injury, significantly weakening the command staff and lowering value for all quarterbacks.
Pukani has a growing hip injury, likely related to mechanical strain, with objective data suggesting he may miss the game despite past appearances, resulting in a production drop and re-entry risk.
Summary:
FAQs
Caleb Williams likely will miss 4 to 6 weeks, with a grade two injury being the most probable. A conservative approach is expected, and the final severity will be confirmed by an MRI.
Given his history of dislocations, there is a high risk of re-injury. A surgical stabilization is likely, which could result in him missing the entire season.
Pukana's injury, likely related to muscular strain, could result in a short-term absence and a potential re-entry risk. Objective data suggests he may sit out the game.
Jonathan Brooks is likely to miss 3 to 4 weeks with a multi-week absence. This could shift fantasy value to other running backs like Chuba Hubbard.
Yes, Nico is expected to miss one week with a grade one strain, return the following week, and likely play at near full strength with minimal production impact.
Yes, despite a minor meniscus tear, Bowers is expected to return within two weeks and is generally considered a must-start due to his strong recovery history and performance.
