So we got plenty to talk about. In the world of college football. It is awful week one. We'll have interviews on Thursday show. We'll usually just do a cleanup on Monday where we clean up and look forward to the next one. We'll have plenty of stuff to talk about. And God damn it. Do we have plenty of stuff to talk about? I'm going to bring Bloodman in now. When I ask one question, we'll get the Notre Dame and Ole Miss in a second. Then I have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 takes from the weekend that I want to get off. Then we'll have our weekly top 10 games of week two draft. Well, we won't draft week two every week. But anyway, you know what I'm saying? Yes. Bloodman, I got a question. Michigan subjected the entire world to one of the most drama-filled seasons of all time a couple of years ago. When they played for a national title, won a national title despite having all the controversy around it. But it seems then that you had a lot of people in the world, not just Michigan fans saying, "Ah, is it that big of a deal?" I'm not sure. They did anything wrong. Yada, yada, yada, everybody's doing it. I would say 70-30, maybe 70-30 against them, but now, after they stole a game from Western Michigan the other night. I think it's the most 99 and a half to point to a half I've ever seen. Only Michigan fans are okay that this happened. Only Michigan fans are accepting what the Big Ten said. Only Michigan fans are accepting what the Max said. Only Michigan fans are accepting the existence of a clock that nobody else gets to see. The existence of a clock that doesn't appear to anybody else. The existence of a gulf between the game clock that we see and the actual clock that we should care about. Only Michigan fans, it feels like the entire sports fan bases are against this. Do you feel that, too? Or do you think there's some people out there going like, "Wow, the Big Ten said it, so must be true." Yeah, mouthpieces, mouthpieces are clamoring that this is all good in the hood. The Big Ten made the statement, so we got to abide by it. And no matter what, throw it away, dude. At this point, I'm tired of it. Michigan won the game, but we watched that game for 60 minutes and a second. And I know straight up, Michigan was lucky to hang in there with Western Michigan. That's the story. That's the takeaway. They're one to know, but they're not one to know in my brain. 90 and top 25 team. They won't be appearing in my top 25 later in the show. Shout out to Peyton,ailed it. If that had been Western Michigan on the 50 yard line with eight seconds left, and they threw a hail marry out of the back of the end zone, and it didn't get caught in the clock hit zeros, that game is over. It is in the books. The newspapers are reporting it the next morning. It's done. But because it was Michigan, they found a second in the magic second sack that apparently is in every stadium in the country. So before we, I don't want to get bogged down on Michigan. I got one last take on Michigan in just a minute to start our takes part of the show. But let's talk about Notre Dame and Ole Miss. Because Notre Dame and Ole Miss played yesterday. And the Apple Cup was yesterday. It certainly wasn't the most appealing thing I've ever seen in my life. Maybe the less said about that, the better. Washington was sluggish. But a rivalry game to start the season. What are you going to do? So I won't give them too much guff on that one. Notre Dame and Ole Miss. Notre Dame played Wisconsin, struggled for a half, ended up taking off one in the game with these Ole Miss defensive half. And then all of a sudden, all hell broke loose. And Ole Miss hung on to beat Louisville with a last second 50-41-38. I'll do Notre Dame first. They're fine. They're really good. They're really fucking good. They're an outstanding team. They're one of, I had seven teams that go in the national title coming yet. I am amending it to eight this week. I'll tell you the other team in a minute. It's LSU. But Notre Dame is in that group. And people are going to get upset at my top seven. I already got big F saying, you got the buck eyes number seven. I truly think the top eight, any of them can be number one. Any of them can win the national title. So anyway, Notre Dame's in that group. I saw nothing to make me think they should be out of that group. They struggle for a half. But you're allowed to struggle for a half. You're allowed to play an improved team with a quarterback you've never seen before. And struggle a little bit and then take off on them. That's fine. I didn't have any problem with the way Notre Dame played. I didn't come away thinking Notre Dame's not as good as I thought they were. Notre Dame has a problem. Bloodman, do you agree with that assessment? Yeah, I don't think Wisconsin's an improved team. Though I think writing has been the war. Writing is on the wall. It's time for them to make a change as soon as possible. That's fine to believe it's time to make a change. I think you're being crazy to say they haven't improved. I think that was a better football team last night than it was last night. I mean, sure. I guess on the field on the sidelines, it wasn't. It was the same cowardly stack from Luke Fickle that we've seen for how long now. It was the same. I'm punting down. I'm punting down 21 at midfield. I'm not going for short yardage pickups in enemy territory. I'm punting instead. It was cowardly once again. Yeah. Again, I'm fine. If you think that's the way Fickle coaches and you're right about that. Fickles not exactly on the cutting edge of being aggressive. I just think watching for 60 minutes Wisconsin was a much better football team than they were last year. Will it be enough to save, will it be enough to save his job? We'll see. We'll see. Because unfortunately for them, they kind of won the schedule lottery this year. They don't have to play another name every single week. For Ole Miss, I'm going to just tread lightly because I don't want to be deemed a hater. But if you are an Ole Miss hater and you walked into the last night looking for signs, the lane, Kiffin era is over and it's going to be worse from here on out. I think you got what you wanted. They've got a defensive minded head coach and their defense is god awful. It's terrible. It was terrible against the Louisville quarterback Lincoln-Kean Holtz will probably be the sixth or seventh best quarterback they play this year. They play mature, they play archmaning, they play Sam Levitt, they play Camarillo Taylor. They play a lot of dudes. They're going to be better than Lincoln-Kean Holtz. But ultimately they have the best quarterback in the country and he proved that last night. Turn it at a chance. If he's on your team, you have a chance to win at all times. If he's on your team, it's going to be hard for you to lose. And even though their defense was awful and they gave up that big lead late, they entered into that chambers. And ultimately they were going to be fine. I got to say they play LSU September 19th. And Lane Kiffin's got to be licking his chops knowing that he's working alongside Pete Golding and he knows that personnel. I would be terrified of Lane Kiffin and that offense. If I was an Ole Miss fan and watched what I saw last night, what did you think of Ole Miss? I know Lane's trying to drop 70 in that game. If not 80 or 90, that's going to be cinematic. That game came down to trend that in his arm and being the best analyzer and anticipator of any quarterback in college football. Like you said, if he is on your side, you do have a chance to win any game. He could will you do it. He started slow. I thought Ole Miss was very opportunistic. Take advantage of me.
excuse from Louisville, they were sloppy all night. They took the ball over on the 12 score touchdown. They scored touchdown after a rough in the kicker. They were just a more opportunistic team. Very worrisome though. They scrape out there with the win against them that they got gifted 14 points of. Yeah. And that was against Louisville. They won by three. Again, they play LSU. They got to go to Florida. They play Oklahoma. They play Texas like it's not an easy road coming down the road for Ole Miss. They're still high on Louisville though coming out of that game honestly. Yeah, I'm fine on Louisville. I think Louisville will be just as long as they beat SMU in a couple of weeks, they'll be in playoff contention. I saw it for Nelly today. He said the ACC's already blown its opportunity to have two playoff teams. I don't think I agree with that at all. I think Louisville, if they get their shit together, they go 11-1. What's to keep them from being an at-large playoff team? We saw SMU lose the ACC title game a couple of years ago. They weren't at large playoff teams, so I have no problem thinking Louisville could do it. I mean, Keen Holes is going to get better as the year goes on. First half was terrible. I thought Louisville's defense was really fun to watch, really aggressive. They got a lot of bad dudes there. AJ Green was really good stand-quang Clark. I think I'm okay just moving on with the fact that the big 10 and Michigan stole the victory from Western Michigan. We all saw it. We all know it. We don't have to think about it anymore. It is what it is when they go five and seven or six and six this year. We'll point back to this moment saying, well, it should have been one game worse. We all know it. They all know it. Fine. But I hope as we sit here tonight, as we sit here five years from now, 10 years from now, 20 years from now, I hope beyond hope that we never let those bastards forget. They storm the field as 29 point favorites. That they were gifted a victory by officials and they storm the field. Their fans were so overjoyed with the miraculous and probable comfort behind victory over a school 100 miles to their west that they don't even think about that they looked down on. They were so enamored with the joy of finally breaking through and beating that team. Western Michigan that they had to run out on the field and celebrate with all their douchebag friends. Hey, douchebag. Yay. We did it. Can you believe it? We did it. Ever, ever let that team and that fan base forget they did that. One of the most pathetic things I have ever seen in college football. And yes, I saw the tweet that's going around today where Dave in 2017 tweeted that Ohio State storming the field after beating a team they were favor by seven. I saw it. He's an idiot. He's a moron. He's a fucking hypocritical moron. Ever let this fan base and this team forget that coming from behind against Western Michigan was such a monumental moment in their life. They had a storm in the field. Never. You got any takes on Michigan to get off before we move on. No, it just legitimately did feel like a skit. It felt like a parody when they were on the field storm in the field. I like what's the use arkies and said what did he just said like what did they really storm in the field? What do you say? They really storm in the field. I couldn't believe that. And our port was like, no, everyone beats Western Michigan. Number two take from the weekend and I kick myself or not saying it Saturday night. I think I criticize a lot of people in the college football business. I make fun of some things they say. I do this. If a guy is bad, I say it. If a broadcast is bad, I say it. If things are bad, I say it. Charles Davis was added to the CBS broadcast this year replacing Gary Danielson's Brad Nestler and Charles Davis. And he's just fucking great. I've always loved Charles Davis. He was, you know, from the Madden games to all the NFL games he's done to everywhere. Charles Davis is a very, very, very good color commentator. He is very good at just breaking down what he sees and why he sees it and why it's relevant and everything. Nestler is one of the best in the business. Nestler is incredible and great and fantastic. Charles Davis is great. But I didn't know, I came into the season. Things just escaped my radar. Things just go right past me and I don't see it. I didn't realize we were getting Charles Davis and Brad Nestler. But when I saw it on my screen, I was like, yeah, I'm here for this. And then it was great, fantastic. You Charles Davis, man. Yeah. Big time. Like you. That kind of slipped my radar and maybe I forgot about it. And I just heard his voice, uh, commenting over a scenic, beautiful, uh, Austin, Stady up. And I got a few chills. That was terrific. He is, he is one of the best in the business. I love him. You got an interview. One of the great. Yes. I do. Uh, Josh. I need Charles Davis. I need Brad Nestler. I got to have and we need Brad Nestler for the, so he can tell the story of the time in the Atlanta airport. I walked up to him and said, Hey, man, I've always been a big fan of you. Uh, Kevin Harlan is completely brain froze right in front of him. And then it was so awkward. It was, it was a flight to Starkville. We got on the flight. I was in 7a. He was in 8a. We were just RB. We were right on the, I was, I was right in front of him. So it was just, it's just, yeah, it was whatever. But I need Brad Nestler and any Charles Davis, Charles Davis is great. Just such a smooth, easy list to listen to voice, calming, even, um, number three. Let's have it. Let's have the Davo conversation coming in the season. I was of the opinion, Clemson, you just got to take what you get. He won you two national titles. He is responsible for the only top of the sport success you've had over the last five decades. He built it. He did it. And you just got to ride it out however long he wants to coach Clemson. He gets to coach Clemson. That was my attitude coming into the season, thinking that they'll go nine and three this year or eight and four and maybe they settled in that groove. It's much worse than that. They were not competitive against LSU. Now LSU will talk about later LSU's legit LSU's great LSU's very good. But I'm not sure I can sit here and say Clemson just has to sit back and accept whatever Davo shoves down their throat from here on out. I thought they were ungrateful wanting to fire him a couple of years ago, you know, Tyler from Spartanburg, whatever his name is, I thought Clemson just shut up. Davo is Davo. Just shut up. It might be time. And I know you're more aggressive on this than I am, Blutman, but looking forward, if you're not moving forward, you are moving backwards. And Clemson is moving backwards faster than anybody in the sport. It might be time to have that conversation in Clemson, South Carolina, either make him, you know, give him a, if he doesn't want to leave Clemson, give him a role in the athletic department, give him a, like an ambassador ship, give him something or give him his walking papers and let him go take over a team who's not serious about competing at the highest level. Let him go coach. Austin College or Northwestern or somewhere that he can do the stick. And although he needs to be in the South to do the stick, somewhere he can do the stick and just be happy thoughts, Blutman. I have been very aggressive, obviously, you said in the Davo thing for a few years now. It is sad to see I like him. I like his joy, pure passion for the sport. I like that he is stubborn to the extent he is willing to fail because he likes the old ways of the sport so much. My brother needs a career in media as soon as possible and he will be so good at it. And that is something to pursue. You could tarnish the sport.

That was bad. That was really bad. And he, like, engaged in a war of words a little bit with Lane Kevin to start. And they just had no fight. No, no, like, the post game handshake, I just kind of felt bad for him. I was like, dabbo was just so much, he's so beaten down by this whole thing of the new powers that being college football. And it's so weird because back in the old ways, Clemson was like a shark in the water. They were a killer at acquiring players. Now you can take whatever that means. You can take it for whatever it's worth. But when it came to the old ways of making sure signing day, you better not have a Clemson after your players, after your recruits, because they're going to get them. They knew how to go get guys. They knew who to call and what to do to get guys. And now they just aren't interested in it. It's just weird. It's just very, very weird. My next take, I have 10. This is number four. You see how they look really real. They look really real. They kind of physically look the part of a very good team out there. I didn't watch them as closely as I know Blutman did because I was doing this show. He was watching them doing the show. I was not. I did get to watch second half. I got to watch them just pound the rot relentlessly in a second half. The starting quarterback goes out with a little boo boo on his foot and they didn't slow down a bit, not a bit. It was very, very, very impressive. Blutman, I will give you 31 seconds to rebut. That was without three defensive starters for the majority of the game. Mind you, that was elite touch distribution for our three great running backs. Wayne night was incredible. Offensive line was a fair question mark is how some of these transfers are going to get in there in gel against some of the better competition. Obviously it's cow, but the run gaps were tremendous. Brown Walker, you could have had three touchdowns. And I'll finish it with this. Toshle play made a very risky decision entering the season and it did not pay off in game one. He is a head coach first time. No experience. He has an offensive coordinator first time. No experience at the coordinator position. He has a defense coordinator first time. No experience at the position. That was a mistake. Well, over 31 seconds. What was that 53? That was at least 82. No, that was at least 82. Look at what's called the added more time. Just clock. That was not good. I actually thought it was pretty good. I thought it was okay. I thought it was pretty clever for somebody that fucked up the ads. In a year where there's eight or nine or 10 or 11 or 12 or 13 or 14 or 15 quarterbacks that could conceivably win the Heisman trophy. And you got great quarterbacks all over this country. Julian saying Dante Moore archmaning Trinidad Chambles. Darian Mensa. Oh, no, no, no, just CJ Carr. I'm not trying to leave anybody out. I'm just saying there's a bunch of them. There's there's a whole lot of them out there in this world. John Mateer in a world where there's so many great quarterbacks. I think you're going to find value in two receivers to win this Heisman trophy. And Brandon, the receivers never win it. Well, one one at five years ago. And if you won it five years ago, it can be done again. And it can be done by being in marquee games or being the best player for your team and your biggest games. And the two receivers are Jeremiah Smith and Malachai Tony. Now Malachai Tony is just absolutely just stunned people with how good he was the other day. They don't exactly have a game scheduled is going to put him in big games every single week. But if Malachai Tony goes into South Bend and is the star of the game against Notre Dame and they win that game, Malachai Tony is going to be hard to displace from going to New York. Now Darian Mensa's his teammate numbers were going to add up quickly for Darian Mensa. So we'll see about that. But Jeremiah Smith's the one I truly believe. What if Jeremiah Smith goes down to Texas this weekend has 11 catches for 212 yards and three touchdowns. It's clear he's the best player in the country, right? I don't think Miami has to run into that issue because I think that Shannon Dawson is more creative and getting Tony touches than the Ohio State is Ryan Day isn't playing to win a guy the Heisman. They go to Oxford in a couple of weeks to play a top 10 team. I think Lane is licking his chops to get peak-golding on that side line. I think I think this is a legit national title contender. I'm not going to say shades of 2019 because that was so incredible for 12 games but this is the best team Lane Kiffin's ever had and Lane Kiffin had built a team that made the play off last year. They got to get rid of Chiano and think of something else. And then Clemson, Clemson is a newcomer here, but you know, you can lose to LSU and Tiger Stadium. No shame in that, but you need to lose 24 to 17. You need to lose 17 13. You don't need to lose 51 to 10. And the 10 was charitable. It's just bad. Three teams to watch out for the bubbling under the surface that played bad teams this week. But I think they got something. Now I already said South Carolina a couple of weeks ago, I started having an epiphany on them in about July, maybe August. Lunar sellers are going to be very good all year long. He's another Heisman flyer you should probably take. But they got dudes all over that roster. You wouldn't think it because how bad they were last year. They updated the coaching staff, got a modern offense. And I think they're going to be held to pay this year. I think South Carolina's going to win eight or nine games. I think Florida, another SEC team, which I don't like, but they look like a well put together machine down there right now. At the very least, the defense is solid and the running back is elite. So even if the quarterback doesn't hit, which I think he might and the receiver room is great too. You've got a good running back and a good defense. That's going to win some games. And then lastly, the team is bubbling under the surface right now. As we see contenders and pretenders fall in the big 12. We saw, we've seen TCU fall already. We saw Oklahoma State fall Kansas State, Colin Klein, Avery Johnson. I think something might be there. I think something might be there as, as, you know, the big 12 opens up a little bit. Houston didn't
look that good the other day, the big 12 kind of opened up in a in a mediocre fashion around the country. I think there might be something there for Kansas State.
