We're Baaaaaaaaack

Tay and Charlie, hosts of the "Hey, co-friends" podcast, reflect on their recent hiatus, which was prompted by significant mental health struggles including suicidal thoughts, grief over their aunt’s aggressive breast cancer return and passing, and emotional exhaustion from consistently discussing heavy topics. To support their well-being, they decided to take a break and now offer a more relaxed format featuring non-themed, conversational episodes every three weeks, allowing for mental recovery and emotional balance. They also launched a $0.99 monthly subscription to fund expanded content like video episodes and merchandise, while encouraging listener support through social media sharing and passive listening. The hosts emphasize openness about their mental health journey, including therapy changes and self-awareness, and share personal anecdotes such as hosting a themed party, pet ownership, and a recent hipster-style phone case ritual. They reaffirm their commitment to the podcast, returning with a renewed focus on mental wellness, authenticity, and community connection, and remind listeners that new episodes air every Thursday at 9 a.m. Central time.

[MUSIC] >> Hey, co-friends, I'm Tay, and I'm Charlie, and we are the host of the Hey, co-friends podcast. For those who are new and want to know what it is that we talk about, we're just talking. Whether it's talking about working on communication skills, working through past trauma, or simply playing a game of song association. We put those episodes out every Thursday, and more recently we've started recording Instagram Live episodes every Sunday at 2 p.m. Central. We really appreciate the love and support we've gotten over the years. And we just wanted to share a new way you guys can support us. You can now choose to pay a monthly subscription of $0.99 for $0.99 or $0.99, which will allow us to do more things for y'all. Whether it's a giveaway, recording new episodes via video, or opening a merch store. If you can't financially support, which I understand, you can always simply share a podcast on social media or through Word of Love. Or you know, hidden play and let that thing play on mute in the background while you're working, because out of the way a stream is a stream. But for real though, we appreciate the support from y'all, and wanted to continue to grow, and do more. Please be sure to check out Hey, co-friends wherever you listen to podcasts. And remember, stay moisturized. We're happy and we're singing and we're colored. Mirror, mirror, mirror, give me a high five. And we're keeping it. I was just, nope, as soon as you start, I was, but as soon as you started, I was like, you know what, I can silence that whole first part of the talk that I was going to do. Oh, you had one. It was just a random one. It was just a margarita song. What? I was like, margarita song, the first thing I've popped into my head was the pinnacle out of song. And I was like, no, that's a different drink as I had two last night. Nothing happened. I have a, I have a question, but I'm afraid to ask it here. Oh, go ahead. It's a safe space. No, it's. It's a internet, it's never a safe space, but before we get to, to and to it, hey, co-friends, hi, co-friends. We are back. How was everybody? Long time no see. Whew, very, very, very, very long time, which we will, we will get into. This is going to be half a catch up episode and half what we are calling our new series. Just talking episodes because that's what the fuck we do is just like a recap, like, let's catch y'all up to speed real quick. Yeah, there is no point today. It's basically a shoot to shit's kind of episode. We're just going to chat. Oh, I'm pretending like, you know, we haven't seen them in a while. We're just going to sit down and be like, how you been so literally because it is, that I don't, did you post an announcement when we took a hiatus? No, I had met two, but then it kept getting on and on. It's okay. We'll be back. Listen, I didn't even have Instagram until probably a month ago. So I wouldn't have known if he had posted anything to begin with. He does social media. I think I asked him once and we didn't really get an answer and I went, and I kept on going. Yeah, I just posted to our story where people are already liking, I was like, oh, you missed us. We missed you too. So before we get into it, who the fuck was painting you and the else? Oh, it was my roommate's friend, the one you made flon with. So yeah, so we've kind of, I think we're kind of slowly bonding. I was thinking, yeah, I don't think we're becoming friends, but we're becoming more familiar with each other because what we're doing, oh, they were hungry and I had made pasta and I was like, you can have some if you want, so I warmed it up for them. And then they were doing each other's nails. Of course they were. And I was like, yeah, sure. I've never got my toenails painted. And I was like, wow, look at us just getting familiar with each other blah, blah, blah. And the last thing they had come over, they had wanted to tell you, you fucking tell them. Don't put your feet on my dirty. Oh, I had my twisted and they were like, can I take them out? I was like, I mean, if you want, so they took my twist out. And then that turned into teasing like real little random hairs that I have. And then that turned into popping my pimples that I was doing. Gross. And I was like, look at how close we're getting too close. They took me to the grocery store, which is very nice. You. I'm still on the popping, that's disgusting. Some people really enjoy that. I get it and I, I mean, I don't, I understand that is a thing. I will never get it. Yeah, yeah, I'm never going to be like, wow, let me watch pimple popping videos. But. Yeah. But yeah, so I thought you want to see looking now, oh, I was, oh, I thought that was black. It started black. It's like the bass. And then. Yeah. So that was fun. Is that the question you were afraid to ask me? Mm-hmm. Oh, yeah. That was nothing. I don't know. I mean, you did put your biz on the streets, it's not like Nick's can't see that shit, but. I've talked so much about business out here. Listen, and I usually do not, and that is what is going to be different about this month, fucking week. Um, I'm trying to think of what were we talking about before we record. I don't know. But a small catch up for me before we get back into bullshit, I'm pretty much the one who called the hiatus. Um, mentally, I was not good at this August. Our last, it was other, yeah, because our last episode came out August 24th or some shit like that. The end of August. Mm-hmm. Um, it's about a month and a half. That's not bad, yeah. Honestly, could have gone on longer if I really, I really had to be like, it's been long enough. Like you've taken your break, everything is okay now. You can like one more week. And we had already decided on this day. This isn't like a, we decided, I mean, shit, I tried to last week, originally planned for last week. Thank God we didn't because we would have had to push, but you were like, I'll let you know if we need to push it back. And I was like, that's fine. And I think this week actually worked better anyway, so I was like, let's just do this. Oh, considering last weekend, this week definitely worked better. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. God, that was a week ago, it feels like six months. Yeah. That's the holidays are coming up. It was going to be real busy. Exactly. Which is why I was just like, that's why I was like, it could have gone on longer. Trust me. Trust and believe we would have popped up January 1st all over again and thought nothing the fuck else of it. But um, yeah, so we're going to have to do a lot of work getting our following and ship back up because actually would have made sense because New Year's Eve is on a Sunday. I believe. Is it? Uh-huh. Christmas Day is on a Monday and New Year's Day is on a Monday. When I tell you, I have not looked into anything other than I know what's going. I just put something on my calendar today. I am a, at this point, I am day by day week by motherfuck week. I have not been able to really, I mean, I've been busy, but I just haven't been able to like, really plan anything. But long story short, mentally, I was just not okay. Um, I wasn't medicated. There was a lot of outside, uh, life influences that were making, uh, my mental health very, very, very terrible. Um, and I got back to a point that I did not like being at, uh, I guess trigger warning. I'll give you, uh, a couple of seconds to pause or skip maybe 30 seconds, uh, three two one. Uh, so what they have plenty of time between me getting it out and getting to the countdown. So I said, skip 30 seconds, then bitch should have skipped 30 seconds, um, I got back to a point where my suicidal ideations were just far too heavy, um, and just the show alone was becoming, it was just, it was, it was just too much. I wasn't getting to the point where I was enjoying recording. I was just kind of recording, I think for a obligation almost, yes, because that's why I told you we got to shake something up this, this go around where it's not just like this is a thing I have to do every Sunday because I, I need, I need a little switch up or even if it's like every other week we do it on a different day, like I need some difference in my life, some changes because like you just show up, but I'm the only one talking. And that's why I, that's also another thing that we discussed. So, um, it's other podcasts that I've been really getting into a quick sign note, um, the friend zone. Uh, they have episodes where it's like, oh, this episode is produced by, you know, Asante or, you know, the other, the other people on the show, um, and that just kind of helped me to flip my mindset because in the episodes, what was mainly you talking, I would feel bad because it's like, I'm just kind of sitting here, like, I mean, chime in every now and then, but for the most part, I'm kind of like, it just didn't feel right, um, and seeing it from a different perspective and be like, oh, like, there can be episodes where it's made because it would be times where you were, you know, playing the back, and I was, and I was the one who let the episodes. And I was like, it is okay for this to be a thing that happens. I don't have to feel bad because I'm just so mentally checked out that I just can't really be apart today. Um, even if it's like, that's all I could give because I'm a people, please, and I still felt obligated some weeks. It was like, I just, if I can just look at every 30, 40, I'm carrying the episode and then still like kind of throwing it your way here and there. And, and I was grateful for it. I just would always feel guilty because I should be performing right now. This is, oh, we know we have changed the, the format of this show. So many goddamn times. Um, but I'm liking where my mindset is about the show. I'm feeling positive about it. I'm thinking of like new ways to do things and like actually being in a place mentally where I can take them in that direction. Um, but I also had some family things happen. Um, I don't know if I ever shared it on the show before, but my aunt had breast cancer. Um, and it, she had been cancer free for about a year. And then it came back about a year ago, really, really aggressively. Um, so like towards the end of her life, it was just kind of a lot. Um, both like mentally and I didn't realize how much anxiety I had around the entire situation. Um, like no matter if somebody called me, I thought something happened. Like I didn't like random phone calls. I didn't like, it was, it was just a lot on me. Um, and seeing where she was headed and realizing how fast it was happening on top of everything else that I was already trying to deal with was a lot. Um, I ended up switching therapists. I'm seeing a new therapist. It's been going really, really well. Um, I originally started seeing this therapist for grief preparation. Um, and it kind of just turned into like, uh, oh, I just need to change. I haven't with my therapist for eight years at this point. I haven't felt that it's been suiting me for at least two and a half now. Maybe I need to break out of where I'm at and make a change. This is, and this is a major one finding a mental health professional that it's actually going to help my mental health. You know, it's probably what I'm paying. It's what I'm paying for in first place. So maybe I should find someone who's actually making me feel better. Um, so that's been really helpful. I'm on new medication. I've been on it for about a month than a half or so. Um, and that's been working really well. I'm definitely in a much different placement, like we've even had to have conversations where I was just like, Hey, I know that, uh, I know how I usually present, but I need you to understand I'm not okay. And it's okay to ask it from not okay. Cause I'm trying to tell you that I'm not okay. And you were like, thank you because a bitch was confused. I was like, wow, I've never got this before. I don't know how to like act. But with therapist thing, it was I was thinking, um, people who are either maybe thinking about going to therapy or in therapy or whatever, like it might have to go through a couple therapists. Yeah, don't just stick with the first one. Yeah. And they, they will understand it's their job. Uh, they what a therapist wants for you is the best for you. And so if they're not suiting you, then what they would prefer is that you find someone who can, cause I didn't even really process it that way. I was just like, I was telling both my therapist about the other. Like I was like, I'm, I'm about to create a team. This one's going to help me with my day to day. This one's going to help me with, you know, grief and and getting over things and preparing myself from my aunt to pass. Um, and it just did not. She was like, it really sounds like you need a new therapist. And I, when I tell you balling, like in the middle of this goddamn session, I was like, I was not, it was a large day of loss for me. Um, we won't get into the specifics of it. But it was just like, that was the third thing I think that day that I realized that I was like, I had to let go of. So it was just like really overwhelming. Um, but I'm in a much better place. My aunt has finally passed, um, which is really sad and still really overwhelming. Um, but I think there was just so much relief from like, I think it was the first time I felt like everybody could breathe. And just like it's done. We don't have to worry about her anymore. In the sense of like literally worrying about her, like even when she was in the hospital, we, they were doing a schedule where like there was not a day or an hour, even like a minute and a half where she was in a room by herself. Like this person is going to be here from six to seven. Uh, like, like from six p.m. to seven a.m. And then this person is going to relieve her from seven until the next morning, like, I mean, even if they stayed there, she was on a 24, I mean, a 24 hour watch with sitting in hospice with nurses and staff and in all day long, like, I felt weird because like there were families when we were when she was starting to transition, there were families that were just like, all right, good night and just like left their family. And I was just like, confused. I've, I've noticed that I have to sometimes I think far too rationally. And I have to just like, take my mind out of it because I was so confused. And I think this is why I misunderstood a lot of what was going on because like, I was just like, is she worse than what y'all are telling us because if she's in a hospital with people watching her all day long, why do we need people there with her overnight? And like, and it's also because she just wouldn't sleep very much. So she was up all night. And so just to sit in a room by yourself, like, I really could not process. I was like, well, this family is okay with leaving their family member who is in hospice care. Why can't we leave this one? And not even in like a, she doesn't need people here. I just didn't, I couldn't understand it. There was just a lot of shit going on. And I really, really, really had to get my mental health together before I could handle doing anything else. I've been like, except for with this one here, I don't even get angry like that anymore. I get annoyed, but I don't go straight to like, from like zero to a hundred because it did not take much before because I was so just like on edge all of the time. I'm being more open and honest about how I'm feeling when I'm feeling it, even if like, I need a minute, I'd like, when I even when I have conversations, I literally don't go past this, like, we're talking, then I'm talking to you, if you get to a point where like you start to elevate and like girl, maybe we need more time, because I don't, I don't understand why we got or like how we got to 10, because I'm not even the things that I have said have been aggressive enough to require this kind of reaction. Breathe. How about you? Well, I was going to say quickly, so we had it physically seen each other, I think probably since August, we had like, when did I, oh no, you came to my party, you came to my party. This so yeah, so AJ came to one of my parties for the first time ever, which was a treat, only took four and a half years. Every time he would ask, I would be like, fuck, no, I think it's because I kept bothering. I just feel like people, it's it's it's a lot that day when I got home, girl, I knocked the fuck out. I think you that was a good one to come to because it wasn't that many people. I was hoping for more, but only that many people ended up showing up. I really want to name this episode organisms. We still talk about that. I work. You should. Did she finally catch it? Yeah. And they are no longer together Good for her. Uh, yeah, anyways Were you there we were playing headset. Oh, that was part of the thing. Yeah, because there was a there was a part Which I don't know if you had we're still there or not Where it just so happened where there was all the white people on one side All the black people on one side. Mm-hmm. We're we're playing a game and someone said segregation No, one of the girls was not getting the word and the guy was like, yeah, and then we all just busted out laughing He got so bad And then the white people were like Didn't know what to do and we for kind of ugly because literally what sides laughing the other side was not Look at you I really don't know how to respond We were laughing for 10 minutes because we're like, why would you say that he got so bad and Did more people come after I left? Not really because you had left and then Brooklyn and their partner left and then I think they left first. Oh, yeah, you met Jada and Ariana Ariana's they were the one the two black girls that were like You were laughing because how they would talk to me is how you would talk to me as though it's it's less of like I remember all of the faces that I saw I remember Brooklyn no one extra came okay, it was very oh, so organism said Nick No, no, it was a black guy that said it. It wasn't a white dude that said it Because that would not fly Sorry, sorry, no, no, no That's why I was so throwing off guard. I was just like oh, I would have said negative. I don't go fuck We wouldn't be laughing if if it was organisms. I said it. We would have been like Yeah, it would have all music would have stopped and they probably would have been a fight, but no So you came to the party showed face for a little bit. I think they're good hour and a half or something. No, I was there for three If I was the first well, that's because I was the first one to get there But I was there around like eight thirty Mm-hmm, and I left around eleven thirty. Oh, and then it didn't go on and it only lasted like another hour and a half I think By that time I was asleep. Oh, yeah, so that was fun It was like a look because I love a themed is a seventies theme party this pitch This is the first time though. No one brought alcohol. You did You lost it. I think only you and who was the one that came with her cut That's Marry Nellie. She had her own little dream. Mm-hmm. That's a you smart I was like that in water and she was like nope And I was like my girl. Yeah, but luckily because you had brought a bottle and then I had a few bottles, but we finished all those bottles that night And then by the end of the night I Felt a little out of place because they kept wanting to play like real like trap rap music and out of this music like that Mm-hmm. They were like and they would look at me and I'm just you know Often I see stories on Twitter About like I got in the car and they would drive her immediately put on Taylor Swift. No shit like that And part of me really feels like you should be offended in those times But then there are times where I get in the car And then nigga is blasting King Vaughan or chief Keith And does not give a fuck whether I want to listen to that shit or not And I kind of wish that Uber drivers with code switch just a just just a little bit more Cause there have been times where I'm in the backseat uncomfortable like what are we listening to turn a shit off? Yeah, so it got it got real hood for a second in my apartment Whoo, and then I was like you know what as long as you haven't a good time and I'll just I'll just nod my head Yeah, I knew it was gonna come up. I was waiting. I'm just gonna vibe out with y'all What else what else. Oh, I got another tattoo again girl. I thought this nigga tattooed his nipple There was no warning. He said I got another tattoo any immediate look to this shirt And I thought you got something around your nipple. Is it facing the right direction this time? Yeah, I didn't care about the way that it faced, but the placement is important Because so I love your heart broken. Oh, I love the screen movies and Drew very much He's the first kill of the whole thing and she gets stabbed right here, so that's why I wanted it there My mom's like my mom saw she said this is the only tattoo I don't like Cuz she doesn't like I don't this is devilish she does it's she does like horror movies and stuff like that She was like she made that face of Chrissy Teak and like She probably thought you got some on top of your nipple too, and I didn't realize cuz I asked my stepdad I was like did mom tell you that I got a new tattoo. She said, huh? I was like, oh, I thought you saw I showed them And maybe I get another one before the year is over I have got I've got like for this year It's because the guy that I've gotten one he gets he doesn't feel like this is like 50 this was he doesn't feel like cheap and it's really good I might need his information. I said he's um Alaskan and Eddie sure Just pass Belma sure not far. Okay. Well, he's not there. I'll show you stuff Like girl, I don't know where the fuck that is at What else? Oh Okay, I'm still confessional time We may have talked about how last year I was on a bit of a Just galovanting out in these streets and then my friend had to like sit me down It'd be like lips which one Jada The taller one The one that's not pregnant There was a one that was sitting down the whole that was not the determining factor that I was gonna say but Ariana's one that had the orange she was sitting down the whole time Jada was standing you remember Was was was was was Jada Jada the darker one. That's what I was going with It's not thinking about pregnancy. I know the one that was pregnant was the one that treats you the same way that I do Which was fantastic to know that there are other people other than me that check your ass on a daily basis Yeah, it's a little special relationship. Mm-hmm. You like those kind of relationships. It cracks me up. I Don't get it always like I'm a beat you're I thought I just find that hilarious cuz you're not going to you love me And she'll never say it, but she loves me And I love that for us, but she sat me down. This was one was this last year This is oh around this time. So this is this makes sense, I guess Circle so around this time last year because I would just tell her all of my stories. I'm gonna need you to clock out for me Yeah, I was you know that mean yeah, I'm just telling you all my stories And she would just look at me with such concern Because it was just like Seven days out the week seven different dudes. I was just going through it and I didn't think anything of it You know, so it's like whatever I just also was like girl Figure it out now so then we made a pact basically and I was gonna be subtle bit for the remaining of the year I remember that and you didn't last Three weeks and you had to start over. Yeah, so we had to extend it like twice Uh-huh cuz it's only supposed to be like November December and then actually and then we're going to like February But I was proud of myself I'm gonna do it and I've realized I'm kind of slowly falling back into the habit. I don't know why ain't she else to do Yeah, can't go running might as well. I can still run. I'm still running. It's not that cold yet So you yeah, once it's under 30 we haven't got there yet. We're still hitting the 40s and 50s So I can do it. Nah son. Yeah, so I've got and it's gonna be like 75 next week 79 thank you Jesus for one day. I'm a man. You buy you better soak it the fuck up, too I just want Halloween to be a crisp 60 Maybe 50 the lowest so if anybody wants to be a slutty whatever inside To be a slutty whatever for Halloween and not be shivering but anyway gonna be shit But a cat I don't know why you giving advice. I have buddy ears this time This bitch is shaking the table everybody asked me not like um anybody that knows me knows I've been a cat for like I don't change it. You put no effort. I like this year. I Darkened my nose Good luck, but I was falling I've really realize it's the self realization is the first start to recovery that I was just and I was like what did I text you the other time oh I sent you a picture of what is it um just cuz they're just cuz you can feel your heart feel the hole in your heart and I was like I was laughing but I was like damn this is me right now now it's like I have basically said those exact words several times so I'm sure if I if I searched it on my phone probably it will go ahead you can look it up I'm about to okay so yes so I've realized that I need to just slow down on my little sex campaigns and cuz and I've been talking about this forever I really want to start looking into like children and I'm absolutely you have also set the words what trying to fill the hole in my heart by filling a different one that's what I said you're exact words oh god you know general see so I guess I've been knowing I have just been ignoring the size you you have known for a while trying to see what day this was oh my god October 6th oh yeah see so yeah I've been I've been knowing it and it's just taking those steps of just like okay let's actually do this so like I'm on the apps and I'm thinking about getting rid of them I already have a good roster that I'm just gonna try to keep it not add to or extend oh what happened I saw your your I've got wide and I got scared I had to read something thrice so I could like really understand what I what I actually read and not what I thought I read I'll tell you if you remind oh I'm sure when I unlock my phone I didn't click out of the search it'll still be there my conversation yes what you said to me was something completely different than what I read and when I say my brain went to 100 cuz your eyes got real wide and I said what's happening over there okay well we're gonna check that when we get off air and you know it's getting colder and I would like to just have less like you know one little cuddle buddy which I do have a potential I would say but I would like to I would like to pump my brakes slow down and we'll see yeah we're gonna see but I would like to so we're get we're in the right direction but besides that yeah oh yeah cuz I was like I want children and I'm absolutely absolutely not gonna be the kind of person who I'm gonna have a child there just have dudes coming in and out the house and stuff like that I'm not gonna do that so I even need to get out my system now or figure it out or both no what do you mean both get it out of your system and figure it out oh sounds like something that you said you can only do either or I feel like you can do both oh yeah so at the same you're going to do both it's it's pretty much what I'm getting it yeah is you left out the option that you're going to actually choose yeah so cuz I know you so we're get in there it's not it's not easy let me tell you soon all I'm gonna say is soon as they get dark the freaks come out at night freaks being me and I'd be on the prowl so I need to slow my yeah bitch you said you was gonna everybody was like oh what are you doing after this and you were like I'm going on the prowl and smack the party yes oh yeah cuz I'm even broke oh that was yep all coming back to me that night was fun gross that was the gross not at the same time though clearly I know you you don't share absolutely not I know that I know that it wasn't and for some reason that option is being presented to be more often and I'm getting very uncomfortable like please no the answer it's a louder no absolutely not let's see I got let's see upgraded my phone this is just small random stuff now upgrade I had a 12 and I have a 15 plus what you think is a good good little jump I'm back to a plus size I miss having it I'm still like getting used to it like wow I have all this screen time now it's so nice I just need to get a new case cuz I just got like a little quick and very one people who don't have cases trust me out trust me out or screen protectors to be honest you guys really trust yourselves or something that you're not gonna drop it I'm gonna like bump into somebody I will something all of it just walking like this just raw dog in the earth and I could the fuck never more power to you almost got like what's that apple care plus or something I have it I will not go to the store to pick up the phone if I don't walk in that bitch with a case we have the case before I got the phone we have as you should because when they give it to you out of the box put put the screen protector on first wash your hands and put the screen protector on and then when you get done I'm putting it direct because every time they look at my phone they're like wow it looks new and I say yes because I won't walk into a store as I'm opening the new one for the new phone I don't even walk into the store to get one of these without a motherfucking case I stay with a case because what you won't be doing is getting another four hundred dollars out of me to replace this bitch my mom thought that she broke her screen about a month ago and I was like I don't know what you calling me for call T-Mobile I can't it's above me I can't do anything for you I said you have Apple care so go ahead and take it to T-Mobile and they'll let you know how much it costs we don't need to have a conversation you're an authorized user go right the fuck ahead and then she text me and she's like never mind it's just a screen protector and I said if you were smart you would go get another one because the next time if it's not I got like a five call T-Mobile if I can which I've never got a five pack of like I have I got a three pack and I literally the other day I found it and I was like I should change it just because like somebody had a use it like I mean it's good that we take such good care of our phones and we're being more cautious but then you find a bitch cuz I got to pay for some if it happens and who was going to do that but we're not just out here like throwing our phones or whatever they go my uncle looked and you got is that an auto box it's a beetle oh you got that stick and I love those two even though it makes your phone I've all told it excuse me what is the time I just lost I like the cases even though it makes your phone real bulky and like sometimes it's hard to put in like then our pockets like that I just feel better that my phone is protected I mean this bitch comes with that because they know that it's gonna be hard to put it in a pocket this bitch comes with a a hip clip yes which I forgot they came with one of those and I swiftly detached it and dropped it directly into the trash can because what this should come with an option of do you want this hip clip because I am not 45 I'm good that's that'd be funny see you lock around with it I used to when I was wearing skinny like skinny and like high school I would she I thought it was cool but this bitch right on my clip I just need ones with the rings like the pop sockets I don't I don't like them and I also have a car so I was with you have you have like a pop socket you have to get the the thing in your car that holds the pop socket otherwise it gets in the way and mine wouldn't stay in the holder and it dry literally was in the middle of driving snatched it off literally ripped off the pop socket and pushed it back into the car I was so annoyed from the placement and like the reason that it was in the way oh that shit hurts the fuck out of me so just to tell the other old 30 year olds if you if you get a pop socket you you have to cheers to 30 I'm so excited are you 30 not yet I will be next year oh this bitch you're we're talking about you and not me oh and not that I feel old you are when I talk to people that are younger I was talking to it's clear ain't it clear is dead you're like when were you born she said 2000 we're like huh and what they're like what happened in 2012 because we're all thinking about like we were just thinking randomly about like slime flew and like all kinds of crazy stuff that happened to me I was in Sixth grade. Yeah, she was like I was like six and I said, huh? Well, we were at high school. I graduated high school already. I was in college. Yep graduate of January 2012 go Vikings Oh, actually also update for you The you got a new job. No, but that has been It always is. I'm not actively looking but everyone comes up. I've been considering if I want to do human medicine or not Disgusting. We can be a nurse. Maybe I think I'd be a good nurse. They just updated their hour brown. What do you mean? You haven't seen the news one of all said mm-hmm. Yeah, I haven't gone inside. I haven't it's fucking gigantic. I just passed it yesterday It's like is that what they have been built? I have been wondering what they have been building And I'm just so used to everything that they're building now is like condos and apartments that I just assumed it was an apartment building That was going to have space for like Businesses underneath because you know people love to make money. I don't wonder why it's going to be that big So they can actually service more people and hire more people and everything can't be so everyone can't be so fucking Overwork because they overwork every fucking. I know there was a strike for Howard Brown. There's about to be one I think I think oh see and Howard Brown is all that I know there probably are other places I could go but the I Honestly, I just sucked it up and found another PCP I Didn't And to be honest, I think it was better that I found a new PCP someone I can just go to and ask specific questions and not have to Wait so long or the fact that she's I mean I went to a nurse practitioner and I loved her like I went to her for About eight years like up until recently if I did my physicals or anything else. That's why I always went But it just got to a point where it was like girl. Can we Can y'all keep appointments or Why do I have to book appointments for a month and a half two months out? I don't feel good today. Yeah, I need questions asked to Day, I don't need to wait by ship. I September the fifth bitch. I'm be feeling better. I'm not gonna need to come to y'all And it's April like what the fuck are we doing? Yeah, I'm getting an appointment with them. I Only do for like my prep stuff But I know it's usually like a month. I'm like, hey, but I'm hoping with this new big building and stuff that it's better Yeah, but I've been thinking about maybe doing human medicine I don't know it'll be nice to just like talk to people and I think I'll be good for it like just my personality and everything and You know, I'll be like oh, I'm about to draw somebody's blood. I don't know. I've just been I've just been thinking about it. Are you making that faith good luck? We'll see if I do it or not And there's also I don't have to be a nurse necessarily like I could do like a specific if I just only want to do like X-rays Very if I only want to do kind of stuff like that and I like a general Yeah, I don't see you being a human nurse You don't see me working with humans at all That's the only job like I think is people can be able to like curse me out or whatever and I'm just like Sir, I'm about to jab you with and you know, please don't make me kill you I will push in instead of pulling out One too many air bubbles and you are out of here. My nigga leave me alone goes an embolism That's the only thing that I like I don't think I don't think I want to work with like the elderly you shouldn't That is just y'all are not about to abuse me Thank you. Oh I was thinking more because like really fast and you are too emotional for that Yeah, I feel like animals is one thing, but like you I get to touch somebody real quick way too fucking fast and And all of a sudden they gone and you will lose your fucking mind and I'll be losing it every week Yeah, so I think the issue that usually comes with Being in the veterinary field is what you would experience dealing with humans And there was a there's a So surprisingly In the vet field Amongst like any other things suicide rate is like actually pretty high and I think it's because of Which I'm sure it's the same for the human medicine, but it's like you just put it down a dog or whatever for example And then you got a goal to your next appointment and just be like hey It's exhaust it sounds mentally exhausting. It can be yeah, or like if you just have back-to-back sick appointments Or we just had one actually yesterday where it was a kitten six months just adopted and the family she was like John dist and all the stuff treatment that we needed to do they couldn't afford and They were just out of like the adoptions like return policy thing They were like two days past or whatever so they would not take her back and then it was just like They wanted to euthanize, but the doctor to feel comfortable euthanizing because it's like you know you can And and the problem was they don't want to relinquish ownership But it was like if you relinquish ownership We can do this stuff like the hospital would just pay for it, but it's like we'll figure out what to do with the cat So it was just like they were there for like hours and then we were just like this poor cat like Needs treatment and you were just like I understand you can a doctor back or have someone else a doctor and give For you like just don't come here no more like and we're kind of talking like behind the scenes like But reliquest so that we can do it. We are trying to throw your ass a metaphorical bone Catch up. It's always kind of suck you like that because people don't okay. I have come to realize with having my home gone Now with having my own pets. Oh, it's all right. It's a luxury. I would say cuz pets are expensive Going to like the vet visits and getting food if they need medicine like pets are expensive as fuck So yeah, they're cute to have, but you also have to remember They cost money and with my hospital specifically we're a little expensive like an exam Just the exam is like a hundred dollars and then vaccines if you do a healthy pet exam And maybe two or three vaccines easily and maybe blood work for a hundred dollars right there Yeah, and that's just my hospital. I don't know other hospitals, but still And if you get multiple pets, that's multiple visits multiple vaccines a lots of food food is expensive I truly do not think I could have my animals if I was not working in the vet field Well, it's because you have so many Well, yeah, like I have three the third and I was not supposed to but You love her I'm never gonna say it Even with just the two because my cat is older so he needs to kind of get more stuff and then blue with his breed He gets like allergies and blah blah blah, but just because or just getting like food litter preventatives Do any of the exams all that stuff do you remember almost gave blue up like twice before just cuz it was I just hard to get apartments to that too. Yeah, so getting a pet. Please, please I always tell people a cat if you're gonna get a get get a cat because it's easier You won't have as hard a time finding a place. You don't got to walk them and stuff like that It's lower maintenance Is it I think so no, it's just because this one's a lot. Oh, yeah, she just the first probably 25 minutes of us recording. She was in my way and just would not move Like she actually stretched out and got More comfortable instead of getting the fuck out of my way So I have been sitting up. She's moved and I still have not adjusted to gotten more comfortable. Oh, yeah Like I chose this lifestyle. I love my pets so much that there's just times where Like traveling for example, I have not gone anywhere since 20 19 I think when it was Florida with my family and it's just cuz like Doing daycare, whatever is expensive. I could probably find someone like that. I know to take care of them Yeah, I know several people who could come and take even if Jade is awake It's literally just I'll just like prepackage everything. Yeah, dump one of these and then dump one of these and then dump one of these Yeah, and spray the tank and you learn she's good even if you only feed her every other day. She's good Oh, yeah, having a roommate now has been really nice like every maybe two or three times ever I've asked like hey, could you running a little late at where could you take them out cool But on a day-to-day basis another thing is just like the morning. I got to wake up take them out and when I get off work I don't go anywhere cuz I have to go home and make sure that they're fed and locked and stuff at the time I get home. I don't want to go back out. So I don't go out that much Bitch, I went out last night. We just went to a replay and then we went to which one the one in North Austin It's just it's just smaller. I love the back how they have it look like Donkey Kong thing But it's just tiny compared to the one in Lincoln Park That's the only one I haven't been to Lincoln Park. Yeah, I love that one. Yeah, that's the one that they actually ended up going to an accident So I had to I didn't even know that there was one in Lincoln Park until we were cuz we were originally going to go somewhere else And on Apple Maps it did not show that it was permanently closed, but on Google Maps we found out the day of like an hour before we were going to meet up to like, this place is closed. So we had to make a last minute change. And I was like, well, is this place easy to get to? And say, yeah, and I was like, okay, let's just me here. Okay. Um, but by nine 15. Yawning hard as hell. My meds knock me out and I take because they knock me out. Girl, I've had to really figure it out because when I first got these meds, I immediately took them. And my doctor pre warned me, she said, they're either going to knock you out or they're going to wake you up. It's going to be one of the other. So if you take them and you realize you start to get a little sleepy, it needs to be a nighttime medicine instead of an early in the day medicine. And I was like, cool. And then at first day, I found out immediately, but they hit you quick. Oh, quick. Click with thin an hour. I was sluggish. I was annoyed because I was sleepy. I couldn't keep my eyes open. And I would much rather be, I would rather find out early in the day that it makes me sleepy than to find out late at night that it wakes me up. Yeah. But also you're like out. You're like tired and stuff. Yes. But I can suffer through that. I don't want to suffer through not getting any sleep and then having to stay at work all day. Um, but because they knock me out, I've had to adjust like when I take, I think that's why I'm so sluggish today because I took them later than normal. I took them at like midnight last night. I usually take them around nine because they will knock me out and then I need to sleep for a full like eight to nine hours so that I'm like actually able to stay awake. And even then it only lasts so long. But, but yeah, we didn't even take a commercial break. I thought about it like 25 minutes ago, but I was like, there's no point in saying anything well. No, about 20 minutes ago. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But I mean, that was pretty much what this episode was going to be. So we are going to be back to recording. Um, so you all will be hearing from us more often. I'm sure everyone will just be pretty. This is your surprise. Yeah. When you see a new episode pop up on your phone on Thursday. So you're welcome. But this was fun. I enjoyed being back. I don't know. It's weird. It's only 12, 19 and we're pretty much wrapping up. And it's so funny. In my head, I was like, I'm packing a beer to like three for whatever reason because I'm usually here. I mean, we still have to like discuss a few things after this. So I mean, it's not like we're completely wrapping up. But the fact that we're done recording at this point, it's like, Oh, shit. Look at us. Efficient. This doesn't happen often. Ever. This is what happens when you take a break and now you're able to just get straight to the goddamn work because we were about to stay here and continue bullshitting. And I was like, this is what we're doing today anyway, recording. Oh, yeah. And just so you guys know, so we already just, I think you had mentioned earlier, but every few episodes, we're just going to be doing this basically like no specific topic, just kind of just be talking almost like a monthly recap, like stuff like what's going on, if you will, just so that it's kind of less, less pressure I guess you can say of like, let's find something to talk about. And then yeah. And then I think what I was also struggling with is like, we were talking about, there are weeks where like we would just talk about something heavy every week. And I was like, this is a lot to do every fucking Sunday. I'm either like talking about knowingly talking about trauma or just talking about shit that I'm going through, which is like constantly making me relive all of these feelings that I'm like trying to stop feeling. It was, it was too much. And so I think I think the decision was every third episode. So about every three weeks or so we'll be doing a just talking episode. So it'll be nice to have a little break to where whether we're talking about, because what I used to do is try throwing a little funny episode every now and then since I would tell Charlie, like we've talked about something heavy twice now, can we please do something different? I need for us to do something funny, whether we just do a game that week, I got to do something different other than go into another heavy topic, because this is a lot for me. So yeah, we'll be, we'll be just talking a lot now, which is I think what y'all enjoy. Y'all enjoy when we just talk about bullshit. If I ever make y'all uncomfortable, please let me know because I have no problem oversharing. He does not. I don't consider oversharing because I don't know, I'm willing to discuss it too much. But you know, if there's ever a part of your conference, let me know and I could, I'll try to really back or be like, just skip this episode. Because I can get way more explicit if you will. But that's just not who I am as a person. But I can still discuss stuff that's going out with me. But that's all. My super source short show. There you go. Good job. Is there an applause on there? I don't think there is. Oh, damn. I think it's you do what I usually do. What? When I just like, you would say something and I would just have randomly turned on the, oh, and I just, I just thought about it. Shut me up. Let me go right to the end. That's how we should end it then. You found the button real fast. Oh, I know it's the right one. Anyways, oh, I ever heard this song in a while. I know. Thank y'all for listening. You see that segue and we'll write on it. That was nice. I hope y'all missed us. I miss being here talking to y'all. Wow, I haven't done this at all. This was weird. So we're, we're odd Apple. We're on Spotify. Google, I heart radio, all that fun stuff. Every motherfucker wear. If, you know, it's been a while.
