Waverwire ads heading into the second half up next on fantasy baseball today express Welcome into fpc express on what the a joy 13 I am Frank sample joined by Chris Towers And let's take a look at the standouts from this weekend and some waver ads You might want to make heading into the second half and two pictures who are trending up Chris Peter Lambert and Jack Fliarty Lambert over his last Seven has a 243 year a 101 whip 68% roster He's a spark for those who play in point sleeves and Jack Fliarty in three starts since returning from the IL 108 ERA point 78 whip 15% swing strike rate so perhaps turning back the clocks a little bit are you buying into either of these two who are Trending up Peter Lambert and Jack Fliarty I think they're both just streaming types and so it kind of comes down to how they Set up their rotations moving forward right so like Detroit Opens the second half at the Los Angeles Angels So if Jack Fliarty is in the first there I feel pretty good about it and then at the Cubs Well, I don't love that yeah So like he could start to see the second half with the angels the royals Okay, you feel pretty good about that or it could be the Cubs and Orioles, which is a little less good so I Don't think I'm rushing out to add Jack Fliarty until I see what the rotation looks like Lambert Baltimore Miami Chicago as the white socks is how they open the second half Miami. I think that would be okay Baltimore, I think would be pretty good too. Yeah, so I think that's okay, but Lambert strikes me as just more of a spark guy and I think Fliarty is Just a potential streamer and not someone I have a ton of confidence in three others at pitch well this weekend Brandon Young Shane drawing and Noah Schultz Chris do any of those stand out to you young drawing and Schultz Yes, the problem is kind of because the trade the all star break is here, right? We're not gonna get any games for the next five days or four days Thursday there's one game I don't really feel the need to run out and add the like Guys who had a good start because I don't know what the next start what the next matchup is gonna look like I don't know, you know, does Kate Anderson get called up? Well, I'd rather have him than any of these guys, you know, so that there's like there's enough unanswered questions and there's enough time before their next starts that I don't necessarily know if I'd be running out to add any of them I'd be thinking more along the lines of looking for long-term upside to Target on the wire right now and I don't know if if any of these guys really do have it if they if any of them do Shane Jaron has a little and he has a spark So I think that's pretty interesting he can miss some bats with his fastball, which is always a good thing Then obviously no shultz is just a super talented pitcher We just haven't seen him put that talent to use at the major league level Enough to have much confidence in him. There was a deeper name that stood out on sunday Zach Thornton of the Metts again I don't think you're running out and he's like a must-add starting pitcher But I think for those who play in deeper leagues and you've missed out on this whole recent run of waiver wire pitchers He's only six percent roster. It was seven shutout innings five strikeouts numbers in the minors are mixed But it was over a strikeout per inning. Do you have any deeply interest in a Zach Thornton? Yeah, I mean certainly one any any and I lonely league right because he is in the rotation moving forward the martin the metts have already confirmed that and That's enough to make you matter in and I lonely league especially when you're young and have some whiff of talent So I think Zach Thornton is definitely most roster in and I lonely Deeper than that. I don't know if there's enough like it's okay strike missing potential for bad missing potential But not huge upside. It's you know mediocre control at least in the minors. So I I don't think even in like most 15 team leagues. I'd be looking at Zach Thornton yet, but It's a name to monitor given the way he's pitched so far. All right. He homeward on both Friday and Saturday He over his last five games has three homers and one steal He was on the most dropped list a couple of weeks go Chris I think that might have been a little bit premature here up J. J. Bladay 63% rostered Could be out there in some three out there leagues Still a great ballpark. He's still hitting the ball pretty hard the bat speed is still up I think J. J. Bladay is not as good as he was the first like 20 games or whatever that that goes without saying because he hit a ton of home runs early on but I kind of think yeah, he's a I think he's a pretty good player He's taking steps forward with the power swing without sacrificing contact skills, which is huge And over the last hundred played appearances is 331x x-wobba. That's not an elite mark But it's good enough at least in any five outfielder league and Even some points leagues given that ballpark Yeah, I didn't want to quickly look up how he's been against lefties because I feel like I've seen him Homer a decent amount against lefties this season. Yeah five homers off lefties 776 OPS The bad thing ever is lower but the overall OPS is pretty good against lefties Right around 20% strikeout rate so it's not too concerning there either. Yeah, I think I think he's a In every day caliber header Some corner infielders who are stepping things up Royce Lewis 32 games since returning to the twins 266 with seven home runs and three steals Only 56% rostered. He's another one. He was on the most dropped list last week I just could not understand that one Curtis me hit two more homers this weekend He's 64% rostered. He has first second and third eligibility Ezekiel Doran he had a downed June but he is bounced back in a big way so far in July He's eligible everywhere except for catcher and no one aeronaut over his last 12 games 279 four homers 11 runs scored Chris how would you rank these four aeronauto Doran Curtis mead and Royce Lewis Exact opposite order that you just gave so I would go Royce Lewis and Curtis me at the top Royce Lewis I just think is wildly under rostered his 162 game pace since his return from AAA 270 batting average 37 homers 99 runs 84 rbi 16 steals I don't think he's that good because that would probably make him like a top I don't know three or four round pick next season But I think too many people have looked at Royce Lewis and what he's done since coming off the aisle or since coming back from triple L and saying oh well He's burned me before so I'm not gonna trust it and that's a bad way to think about things You should have a Very short-term memory the player's name doesn't matter. It's what they're doing and what they're likely to be doing the underlying numbers Mostly back it up Lewis changed his bat Set up before His swing down at triple A and it has Worked for him so he's at the top of the list. I think 56% roster just way too low I think Curtis mead at 64% is also too low. He's first second and third base eligible You've probably got somewhere for him in your lineup. It's just a tough fit in point sleeve because he's not Quite playing every day. He sat out on Sunday against a righty still Harvard in that game came in After the starter came out, but you'd like to see him more You know starting 90% of the time against righty's instead of like 75% or whatever it is But I think needs good. I buy what he's done this season. I buy the improvements I don't think he's a platoon bat and I think the national should just give him more run I have three names for those who play in leagues with five outfielders Lars Newp are had a sock in a shoe on Saturday. That's a home run and his steal He's been starting every day against right-handed pitching and about half the timing it's left you so far Heriberto Hernandez from your Miami marlins He has been hitting for big power so far in July. He has five home runs in 11 games Statcast stuff looks pretty good for him as well and Tristan Peters of the white socks He hit for the cycle on Friday. He went for for four in that game his sixth home run for RBI These names are all 20% roster or less to any standout to you Chris from a five outfielder league perspective Yeah, I think new bar and Hernandez are more interesting than their roster rates would suggest and I think particularly Hernandez Newp are Is kind of an own quantity. He's always been super talented. He hits the ball hard. He's a good athlete He has just one struggled to actualize that raw power doesn't hit the ball in the air doesn't hit the ball the pull size off And as he should Two he's just had a lot of trouble staying healthy. So that's why new bars been a relative disappointment Hernandez hits the ball pretty hard doesn't strike out a ton Statcast metrics are pretty good He's got 23 homers and about 530 played appearances since the start of last season so I that's one I I needed to take a second look at and He's a little more interesting than I gave him credit. It's You know interesting and like Elliott Ramos kind of way, but Elliott Ramos is a lot more roster than Airburt Hernandez So yeah, he's uh I think he's airburt Hernandez someone who should be more roster than he is. I think the biggest thing is just a playing time right Heriberto Hernandez. He started five straight before that the playing time was inconsistent, but In the case his injury could could be helping. Yeah, I think as long as he keeps hitting he's gonna earn some playing time here and The stack I stopped is kind of interesting there for Herberto Hernandez. And one last name here, if you're looking for saves, it does look like Grant Taylor is taking over in the White Sox bullpen he had a five out save on Saturday. There's just really nobody else in that bullpen that has stepped up so far. And as long as he doesn't stumble like he did in June when he had the chance, because it looked like he was about to take that role and he gave up like seven runs and seven innings or something. His stuff is just filthy. Oh, yeah. And he could just harness that. I think he could be the closer of the future here for the White Sox. And he is 41% rostered again. That is Grant Taylor.
