Waiting ‘till marriage & raising 2 kids in a tiny home w/ Carson & Brielle Matranga

Carson and Brielle Matringa share a heartfelt podcast episode detailing their journey from early childhood to a committed, family-oriented life. The story begins with a viral video of Brielle’s daughter listening to a story, which went viral due to its emotional authenticity and parental bond. Raised in different emotional environments—Brielle in a chaotic household marked by her mother’s addiction and anxiety, and Carson in a stable, emotionally grounded family—they met through dance at a young age and reconnected after years of distance. Despite initial challenges, including societal judgment and personal insecurities, they built a strong relationship, moving in together at 15 and 16. Their story emphasizes the importance of emotional resilience, mental health, and family stability. They reflect on how their shared experiences, including overcoming anxiety and navigating difficult family dynamics, shaped their parenting. A key cultural moment—participating in Louisiana’s Mardi Gras traditions such as eating king cake—adds warmth and community to their narrative. The episode also highlights the power of small, meaningful gestures and the belief that love and perseverance can overcome adversity. Ultimately, their journey serves as a testament to the strength of familial bonds, emotional intelligence, and the enduring power of love. The narrative is enriched by personal anecdotes, cultural insights, and a deep sense of authenticity, making it both relatable and inspiring. The segment promotes Disney Plus Hulu as a platform for content that brings joy, connection, and variety to daily life.

Well, yeah, not at first. Carson Matringa went massively viral this year after his wife, Brielle, shared a story time video of him and their daughter introducing the Matringas to millions. Please call my dad down. Was there ever a worry of getting pregnant like when you're in high school? We never did anything like that till after marriage. Oh, no way. I was nine. My mom started doing drugs. I kind of feel like I didn't have a childhood. You guys think you're each other's soulmate? Oh, 100%. I can't wait to find her next. What if she's a tree, though? How would that work out? If I'm a squirrel, I'm living in that tree. They open up about getting married young, Brielle's battle with anxiety, and what it's really like raising a family in a tiny home, all on today's episode. Please welcome Carson and Brielle Matringa. Yeah, baby. I'm excited. You guys, they brought us an entire king cake from New Orleans. They flew with this thing. We did. We really did. With the big car seats. Yeah, with two car seats, two kids, a sister, and a mother. And two little kids. Yeah, two little kids. Three-year-old and 10-month-old. Oh, my. That was a labor of love, you guys. Thank you so much. Look at how nice. This thing smells so good. Your mom made it. Yes, yes. My mom made it. I was like, okay. What is the season for king? Is it Christmas? No, it's Mardi Gras. Oh, duh. I'm so dumb. It's okay. No, no, no, no. No, you're not. You're fine. Okay, so there's a hidden baby somewhere in there. What happens if you accidentally cut the baby? Because that seems dark. Yeah, especially because it's supposed to be Jesus. Yeah, sheesh. I'm wondering if he got it first piece. That would be crazy if he did. If we get baby Jesus in the first piece, that's like a sign from above that this podcast was supposed to happen. It smells so good. Don't say that because now he's not in it. She forgot. Okay, Abby, we're both going to take a big bite of king cake at the same time. You got to serve. Don't do it again. Oh, wait, yes. Would you guys like some king cake? I don't, but maybe he wants some. I'll take a little piece. I feel like it's. The whole time he was holding it, it was like. I just put my hands all over it, but here, I'll make this one for me. I saw you just come out the bathroom, so hopefully you washed your hands. I did wash my hands. Yes, Matt, seriously. Here, I'll give you a piece with the gold on it. So, there is a baby Jesus in this somewhere. There is a baby Jesus somewhere in this cake, yes. You don't. And the tradition is if you get the baby Jesus, then you have to bring the king cake to the next function. That's fun. Yes. I never knew about any of this until today. Never in my life. But everyone in Louisiana knows about this. Oh, yeah. This is a Louisiana thing. The king cake, like, this happens all the time. Yes. Wow. Yeah. That's so fascinating. I thought it was a Mardi Gras. Yeah, no, I knew that, like, Mardi Gras was a big deal there. You've never been. I think. I'm from St. Louis, and I think St. Louis has, like, a decent Mardi Gras parade. Nothing compared to Louisiana, but. Okay, should we try this? Yeah, should we? I'm like, guys, try it. I'm seeing if I have a baby first. Okay, Ma. You did a good job. That is fire. Shout out, Nani. So buttery. That was delicious. Oh, my God. So sugary. I'm going to have a hard time focusing, looking at that this whole time. You guys, that's delicious. Your mom knows how to cook, or bake. Definitely. Okay. That's my goals as a grandma, to be able to whip something up like this. I'm not kidding. I talk to Matt about being a grandma all the time. Yes. Yes. I'm so excited. That is so cute. That is sweet. Okay, you keep talking. I'm going to keep eating. You guys went mega viral a couple months ago with a video of you telling your daughter a story. Yes. And, dude, Abby showed me this video. I feel like everyone's seen it. It has hundreds of millions of views, which is just ridiculous. Incomparable, yes. Dude, that's like 10% of the world that's seen this video. You know what I'm saying? When you put it into that perspective, that is crazy. Which is pretty wild. Yeah. What's the backstory of that viral video? It's honestly. It's actually not even that crazy of a backstory. I was just being my genuine self. My daughter came up to me, and she asked me to tell her a story, and she gave me the premise of the story. She's like, I want you to tell me a story about a little girl that was being mean to her dada. And I said, okay. Right? Sure. And so I'm telling her this story, and she's kind of sleepy, too, at this point. But I'm telling her this story, and she's locked into this story. And I'm just telling her as a dad. I'm trying not to cry, but also not. Not to laugh and everything. I'm trying to just be the storyteller. And then Brielle takes her phone out. She starts recording, because she's like, I need to keep this moment forever. And after I'm done telling her the story, I hug her or whatever, because I don't like to see her cry. That was so sad. But at the same time, I was so proud that she was able, at three years old, to feel that from a story. You know what I mean? And so Brielle, she showed me the video. She goes, you have to post that right now. And I'm like, I don't know if I should post it, babe. I'm like, she's crying a little bit. She's like, yeah, but it's not a negative thing. This is so cute, what just happened. And I was like, I mean, if you think so, then sure. And I don't know how you guys are, if you post at a certain time and all this kind of stuff, but we're pretty diligent about posting at 3 p.m., central time. Oh, really? Yeah. I don't know. We just found that to be the best time for us. So it was past our post time. I'm like, babe, it's already an hour and a half past post time, blah, blah, blah. And she's like, Carson, it doesn't matter. Just post. And I said, okay, fine. And so I post it, and literally within minutes. Millions. And I was just like, this is crazy. This is the most viral video we have ever had. Has your daughter always been an empath? Yes. We remember, we have our, I guess it's like my great uncle. It's like a head of a hospital. And he has seen a lot of patients and stuff before. And when Zally was a few months old, I will never forget, he literally looked at her and he goes, she's going to be a very empathetic person. I can just tell by how she is observant. And everything that she's going to be like a really, like a person that really cares deeply of people. And I was like, wow. Like, I don't know. So if you ask, I guess, professional trained eyes, if that makes sense, like they've told us that, you know, that she kind of always was going to have that empathy kind of, you know, part about her, whatever, you know, that may have been. You think she was like born with that? Or is that something? Because I'm like, how do you raise your, I feel like three-year-olds and toddlers in general, like their job really is kind of to be selfish, like focus on themselves. Yeah. Yeah. But like, it's so unique that she is like, so empathetic like that. We kind of talk to her like she's a person. Like, we don't talk to her like she's a kid. And I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Yeah. It might just be her though too, you know? Yeah. I mean, even our son, like he's very observant and, but it's funny, Zalia, when she was little, like, she's still little, but when she was younger, she was very cautious of everything too. You know, she was a climber, but she was a very cautious climber. Lyric, our son. 10 months. That boy is not cautious at all. Like, he's very capable of everything he does, but he's like, way, I don't want to speak that he's, and say he's clumsy, but like, he's more clumsy than our daughter was. So, yeah, I don't know. It might have just been always a part of her. What was the most surprising thing to come out of that video? Was there like, was there somebody that commented that was like, oh, that's, that's cool. John Cena commented on the video. Like, what, like has anything like that happened? Wait, did John Cena comment on it? I just made up my mind. I just made up that. If he did, we couldn't see it, so it's all right. Oh, really? I'm glad somebody got the joke. Wait, I don't get the joke. You can't see John Cena? Get it? Like, that's his whole thing? Like, you can't see me? I've never heard that. That went over our heads. I didn't know that. Wait, why did nobody ever tell me that? Am I dumb? No, I didn't know it either. That's his thing. Like, when he jumps in the ring, I mean, I don't watch wrestling, but I'm pretty sure when he jumps in the ring, he's like, you can't see me. Guys, I've watched it. I've watched entire movies with John Cena. I've never heard of that in my entire life. They tell jokes about it every time. Really? Yeah, like, they're looking past him like, why aren't you looking at me? And they're like, what? We live under a rock. It's okay, it's okay, it's okay. I'm acting like I'm, like, locked in, but I'm not. I even watch Peacemaker with John Cena. Like, that's his own show. He's the main character. Still don't know that. Whatever. It's okay, it's okay. Thanks for educating me. Of course, of course. Anytime. It's really educational for us. But to answer your question. I've had more famous people follow me from that video than, like, I didn't, like, I don't know. They had, I just kept seeing, like, blue checks, like. Really? Yeah, follow, follow. And I was just like. And she would honestly just take my phone and she would, like, look through, like, the activity. And she's like, Carson, I don't know, Christina Perri's following you. I was like, whoa, that's cool. Why do I not know who Christina Perri is? You're, I'm okay. Am I? It's okay. I thought it was just interesting. Yeah, it was just, yeah. Dance with the Stars people was liking the pictures and everything and the video, rather. She's so cute. Thank you. But I think the main thing that I, surprised me, was the amount of love that we got from that video. Because I was so concerned about negativity, you know, because, like, posting your kid kind of crying and stuff. But, like, again, like she said, it wasn't a negative thing. It was, like, a beautiful moment. And honestly, a lot of people were like, this is how you should be training your kids. Like, tell them a story that's fake, so they won't do stuff. And I'm like, yeah, maybe. But, like, you know. And also, it's a happy cry, too. Yes, it was. The reason she's feeling that is because of, I don't know, I think the video. from my interpretation. was just this beautiful relationship that you have with your daughter thank you and how much she trusts you yeah and it was sweet seeing you comfort her when she got sad thank you so it's sweet so sweet thank you yeah and it's funny you mentioned dancing with the stars i feel like i feel like you got to go and dance with stars don't say i'm gonna cry don't say that i would love that oh my gosh dude you guys both have dance backgrounds right just well like i guess professionally trained just me yeah yeah um brielle not no she ran well you could tell what happened in the dance studio when you first went in um as a little girl i was i was just really terrified of like men i don't know why like i just was like one of those little girls that like i was like she's with me i just was like that so i went in first day of dance and it was like a male assistant and i never went back oh really yeah and so i um just didn't stick with it and i was also a very shy kid um you kind of were too but dance actually brought that out of him so shy i was like i was the oldest but i would get my younger brother i would like if we're at the playground i would send him out i'm like hey go make some friends once you establish that come back to me and then we'll all go play because i can't your younger brother you said yes yes my younger brother everybody thinks he's older because he's like huge now like he's like really built but uh i'm older i'm gonna stick by that i'm the bigger brother gavin um anyway um but no yeah so i was super shy and then michael jackson passed away which is actually 17 years ago today um he passed away and i did not know who he was at all neither and we both fell in love with the art of like performing and we would literally copy his moves like to a t and my family i would hold like a family dinner night where like all my family came like aunts uncles grandparents everything and i would literally perform in front of the tv for them while they ate dinner and like i think it was like that moment i like unlocked something for me like seeing how happy and like in the moment they were because of something that i was doing that's like i never want to do anything but this you know and so um i stuck with it i mean i still like i like to teach and everything still to this day um but that moment was like a light switch turned on you know and fill me in on the louisiana culture of family because family plays a huge part yes in in your upbringing right 100 so so what like do you speak no you don't no that's what people that's what like uh like what they speak though right for creole they speak creole but we don't we're not in that area kind of like okay that's kind of more like i guess do you guys have like a country kind of like feel in arizona like yeah like that's kind of like yeah like yeah like that's the country i think that's like kind of like this the equivalent to like cajun like okay if that makes sense yeah yeah um we're not really tapped into that uh just because we don't we don't we don't live in that area okay um we know of it you know and like there's swamp tours and stuff like that where like cajun people like bring you around yeah and show you the alligators and where they live alligators yeah and you name it they have it did you ever almost get bitten by an alligator no i used to have a pet alligator what yeah you had a pet alligator yeah it's a little baby alligator it was so cute does everybody believe you have one i still don't think she believes that question was so funny no no i don't think i don't think uh is that legal i don't think so okay i don't know i i was a kid and i let it go like i only had it for like a couple weeks you found it yourself like in the world no my uncle brought it over and he was like look what i got for you and i was like this is so cool i was like i don't even know how old i was like seven or eight and um that's crazy he like came with like tape on his mouth and it was like this big it was like actually it was so cool okay and like seeing him like walk around we gave him like a little raw chicken and stuff um and then my yeah and my aunt actually lived like on some kind of property where he was living with his neighbors and stuff so we just let him go in that perfect in her backyard and i don't know if he's still there but hopefully he's okay yeah sheesh that's so crazy and we've never been so yeah phil fill me in and fill other people in on what is what is a crawfish boil like oh my god because that's a big part of the culture right yes oh yeah yeah yeah that's something else my daughter absolutely loves right now she found crawfish and is like that's all she wants to eat but she doesn't eat it she doesn't she just loves to peel them yeah she doesn't actually want to eat them at all she just wants to sit there and peel it and pretend like she's eating them yeah um that is like the get together in louisiana any excuse you can think of yeah we're having a crawfish bowl but they have to be in season so it's around the same time as king cake so you're having like king cake and crawfish yeah it's great we gotta go what's that season it's like in february okay yeah february to like beginning of june is like the end of it yes yeah so you have um have you guys ever heard of like fat tuesday or like yeah yeah um ash wednesday yeah yeah okay so you basically before ash wednesday you like party it up you do like everything you can do you know again we don't do like we don't really do this we don't like follow it but like we know of it because we live there um but we aren't people like being naked yeah yeah yeah don't yeah don't yeah don't look listen as as a person who's went on bourbon street mardi gras day would not recommend would not why do you not go to bourbon street i am terrified i was traumatized i've seen things i never wanted to see before in my life okay like what what are we talking about can i actually say it on the pod sure i mean what the heck i guess you can always edit it out if it's too much okay like people have like made giant crafted like uh private parts and like walked around with them on burp yeah and like i was a child like okay i say child i was probably like 12 like i was probably 13. i was like 13. thank you to quince for sponsoring this portion of today's episode let me tell you the seasons are changing it's starting to be time that we can get out our denims again we can get out with the disney plus hulu bundle subscription and access these titles via disney plus terms apply is it is it legal you know that's what i asked myself in new orleans a lot of things that aren't legal around the country they can get away with yeah like yeah like you can you can drink alcohol walking around i didn't know that wasn't normal until uh we had some friends from out of town come in and they're like why does your daiquiri shop have a drive-through and we're like uh i don't know it just does just just make sure yeah yours does it it's like just make sure you don't put the straw in the cup and then you'll be fine if a cop pulls you over so what i'm what i'm hearing is if you go to bourbon street on mardi gras you're gonna see naked people in private parts that are like like like replicas yeah replicas and real and real replicas yeah yeah i just don't bring the kids no but i do not no no but we do have like other parades that like aren't you know in new orleans or if you can like get a good spot in new orleans for certain parades it it's not it's like it's like you can't get a good spot in new orleans for certain parades it it's like you can't get a good spot in new orleans for certain parades it it's it can be nice for sure how old were you when you uh some experiences i think i was like 13. who bro who brought you to this dude well okay look again as i said we didn't grow up doing this so my mom was like you guys are older now like i think we can go and like my aunts and uncles and stuff like they they they have gone a few times okay and like their house is actually like a block around uh a block from like where the parades go yeah they live there yeah and so we stayed at their house and then like went for mardi gras and my mom was like oh now like we go try it out and we're like okay cool we try it out and we're like yeah now we're going back mom you know um none of the kids like to go now yeah no it's just it wasn't it's just not our vibe it's all right it's like if you like mardi gras more power to you you know i just like i'll just eat the king cake i'll just yes i'll go home and i'll throw beads to you guys and eat king cake and eat crawfish and we're good you said if they're topless they get better beads correct yeah like so so yeah so they would like they shake their chest basically to get more beads like so i'm going to go home and i'll throw beads to you guys and eat king cake and eat crawfish and we're good but you said if they're topless they get better beads correct yeah like so so yeah so they would like they shake their chest basically to get more beads so like the float comes by it's called they just say like throw me something mr so like the float comes by it's called they just say like throw me something mr yeah yeah and they show because they make shirts yeah yeah and they show because they make shirts yeah yeah and they show because they make shirts that say that like yeah like when you that say that like yeah like when you that say that like yeah like when you drive through new orleans like you're drive through new orleans like you're drive through new orleans like you're gonna see like mannequins with shirts gonna see like mannequins with shirts gonna see like mannequins with shirts with like a woman's chest okay okay yeah all right like and so they do that and it's basically so that they can get the better beads thrown to them yeah the better beads yeah which is literally just plastic beads like that but maybe just like bigger yeah so yeah like they do have some that are huge yeah i think people like the huge beads or like they like the little really small ones that we brought you um i don't know but it's so yeah it's just it's strange honestly i feel like we just went in a complete curveball direction yeah sorry yeah because i thought we were talking like you thought the king cake baby jesus is in this king cake and then you're telling me that women are shaking their chest for some beads yeah so like how does that correlate together so yeah this is what my mom told me uh she's like you know how you know kids like they kind of have like to get all this energy and they get all crazy and do all these crazy things and then they just like kind of go to sleep yeah after think about that for adults like they just gotta do all this crazy stuff all this crazy stuff right before ash wednesday and like you know and then once the ash wednesday comes like they got they chill out okay so they get all that and then they're forgiven yeah like i think i think i think we don't know we don't know i've never drank an ounce of alcohol in my life or anything like so i really we're not like tapped in we just know because we live around there uh just want to promise that uh i am so fascinated seriously because i think that my knowledge of mardi gras and like new orleans in general kind of stopped at princess and the frog i'm totally honest with you yeah yeah honestly that's where i probably get most of my good job i mean yeah that's my understanding louisiana is just princess that was the g-rated version though now i'm learning them more no it's really just around that time yeah but we went we actually because i think it's you guys can tell us are you guys from phoenix or no we're from missouri oh okay cool illinois abby's from yeah illinois i'm from st louis okay cool so like being from like we're 30 minutes away from new orleans so being from new orleans we never really like go to the city okay much um and so we didn't really like i don't know i don't know necessarily say a shade new orleans but it it just wasn't something that we thought of like oh this is cool you know what i mean yeah but we actually went yeah um but we actually went for our anniversary this year and kind of just like explored the city like as a tourist and it was actually like so nice like walking around like and taking in things you know and kind of like pretending to be a tourist so you guys didn't meet doing dance i don't know why i thought that originally because it does tie it does tie in so our relationship story is i've been together for a long time for being so young we have known each other since 2013 um but we got together in 20s end of 2016 yeah end of 2016 start of 2017 technically because guys if you don't know this i'm gonna let you know you have to ask a woman to be their girlfriend i did not know i didn't know i didn't know this i was okay i was calling her my girlfriend abby's like what the heck i literally never asked me i know i was like i didn't know how to ask you like what so i did a whole dance video and i texted her it was fun but but yeah because my mom and i were like wait like is she your girlfriend i was like i mean i think so like she says like my love to me and stuff like on the text and then it's different and as soon as i like i said i love you in person she stopped calling me anything she still doesn't call me all right anyways sorry so how we got together um definitely me yeah yeah same bro yeah oh yeah and he freaked out like no i freaked out okay listen listen do we want to go down so we actually got together we gotta we gotta know your love story yeah but yeah yeah yeah okay okay okay okay we'll we'll we'll work in reverse okay so i said i love you first and i was terrified because like i was trying to do everything the correct way like you know people were telling me like don't say i love you too fast and do this that and the other i'm like okay i really like this girl like i don't want to mess it up you know because again she said we met each uh we knew about each other till since 2013 and um but we never met each other in person and then we never like spoke romantically or anything that i mean we were i was 13 and she was 12 like we didn't know what that was i just knew that i thought she was beautiful like at 13 but my mom always told me like before you get a girlfriend that you have to have a car or at least a license a savings account and a job because you're not you're not borrowing money from me and you're not bringing on the back of your bicycle so i said okay so we just talked as friends for like on and off for years does your mom have all boys by chance she has one girl oh three boys one girl okay three boys yeah girls she got her lines like nailed down for what how she's gonna raise her boys oh yeah and so um so anyway yeah that's that's kind of how it was so whenever i finally got a car have a savings account got a job um i finally like was like hey do you want to like go on a date you know blah blah and it was like a what our third date or something like that i was okay also again to go back to family family's huge huge for me and um for us really and we always met each other and we always my mom raised us to say um i love you goodbye on the phone or anytime like you're like because you don't know when the next time you'll see them or if ever right so she's always says always make sure you tell them that you love them um before you say goodbye and so it just naturally came out when i was telling her goodbye at the bowling alley and i was just like all right bye i love you and i was like i didn't mean to say that not yet wait uh and i like in her face dropped and like that's why another reason was like i just fricked up like i really just messed up it's like i went in the car and i'm like i'm like stressing i'm like i don't even know what stress is but i'm feeling it right now and i was in the car i went home and i was like freaking out like texting or whatever and that the next morning i think or maybe it was even that night i don't remember i like go to my mom's room crying and i'm like and and she's and i'm like mom i messed up and she's like what what she's thinking like i did like drugs or like drank or she's like did something and like again at this time i'm 17 right i'm 17 yeah yeah and um and like she's she's thinking like i did something like that accidentally said i love you to her and she's like oh my god cars you got me freaking out thinking that you did something like crazy blah blah whatever she goes if that's what if that's what you think messing up is i'm so proud of you and and so and i was like no mom being serious like i need your help like what do i do and so she took my phone she like wrote this big long message to rio and she's like look at it does that look good i was like yeah it looks good and she like sends it and bro like she took it and she's like oh okay cool like i love you too kind of thing and i was like thanks ma love you so from my point of view from her point of view like of course i was like your face babe like your face would drive you like did you just did you just say that it was like it's that's like a big deal i feel like when you first say i love you like so it took me but also his face looked like i shouldn't have said that and she was literally calling me my love bro she would literally say i love you my love good night and now i i'm lucky i get dada because i told her she has to call me dada when we have kids so they know my name is dada so like at least she called me that now but like yeah she doesn't say that anymore but it's okay i still love you is it true that you guys like moved in together when you were 15 and 16 yes that is true how tell me about that do you want to talk about how we met first yeah because it goes into that it goes into that yeah for sure um so like carson said michael jackson died we don't know each other at the same exact time we were doing the same thing like like our family's freaking out we're like who is that i'm literally i think i was eight nine yeah whatever they're all like this is literally like the greatest artist ever and we're like okay show videos and i did the same thing that he did i literally to a t was like dancing just like him she was way better than me too way better just had to say that he did the same move over and over again that's literally all he did um it's okay and i just loved it i don't know but like we said i didn't actually like to go to like a dance studio it freaked me out whereas he did so that kind of created his love for dance and then he was like okay i want to do this um fast forward a little bit my little cousin was in the dance recital and there was one boy dancer and that was not common at all and like i said like i loved michael jackson he was a boy dancer so i'm at the top of the auditorium and all of a sudden like my cousin was like oh you're gonna like really like this because there's this boy dancer and i was like okay he comes out he was doing this little like army dance and i pulled out my phone and i recorded it because i was like oh he's cute even though literally i could not see his face at all so recorded it and i really did want to talk to him after but he stayed backstage the whole time and i was like okay like i gotta leave and then how long after did we dude it was like the next day maybe it was the same week um i was on instagram and stalking me no but she says no but she's no he was tagged in a photo and i was like that's him same little army outfit that's him click on his profile comment under his picture and i'm like hey like this is how old we are about to tell us how old we are and i was like hey i seen you dancing and actually have a video of you that sounds really creepy now that i said yeah i thought i thought that this was a catfish at this point yeah but like at the time i was just like hey like i took a video of you and if that's not true he was like give me the video so he was i was trying to see if she was real because i thought she was pretty yeah and so he commented back and he didn't want to give me his number because he thought it was catfish and so we downloaded kick do y'all remember yes yes yeah because uh instagram dms were not even a thing they were not a thing at this time go for it kick and Then realized that you couldn't send videos. So then he was like, oh, dang, I have to give her my number. So got the number, sent him the video, and he was like, oh, maybe she is real. Yeah, and from that point on, we, like, FaceTimed. We would FaceTime. Everything. And it was just, like, as friends. I mean, we were literally 12 and 13. Like, we just were, like, talking. And, like, that was it. Then I learned that he lived 30 minutes away from me. So we tried multiple times to meet up, and it just, like, never worked out. Here's how. New girl. Terms apply. Disney Plus Hulu. Did you grow up dancing? Yeah, actually. I took tap, jazz, and ballet. That is so sick. Yeah. What age? Nine years old. Bro. What is happening? And then you grew up dancing, I'm assuming, as well? Okay, awesome. Don't ask me to dance. No, no, no. You're good. I got no moves anymore. You're good. You're good. So, I don't know how it was for you, but being a male dancer in the space, it was very difficult for me in the South. Like, I had, you know. Dads and everything, like, speaking really, like, horrible things about me and stuff. I'm so sorry. No, no, you're good. I literally didn't phase me, but, you know, it was just something that was happening, right? And so, it would be, it was very hard for me to find, like, a studio. So, I would kind of be at a new studio, like, almost every year. And it's like my mom, literally, she, at times, she drove, you know, 45 minutes away just so I could dance. And, you know, but anyway, so, like, just stuff like that was happening a lot. And so, at this point. In time, I was like, I'm just going to stop dancing. Like, I just can't. Like, I can't do this anymore. And so, it's kind of what I call, like, my dark period because it's just, like, it was very heavy for me because dance was literally everything to me. And the fact that, like, I was getting so hurt from it every time I danced, like, with people and stuff that I thought were my friends, it was just, like, it was horrible. Like, just making fun of you for being a boy that wanted to dance? For people calling you gay? Yeah. Oh, always. Yeah, that was, like, yeah. He still gets that on all his videos. Yeah, I don't really care at this point. But, yeah, I would always have guys hitting on me and stuff. And, like, I think, I didn't want to say that because, like, I don't really, I don't want to, like, be, like, you know, somebody that's not gay, doesn't have it hard. But, like, being a straight male dancer, I feel like, at least in the South, made it even harder because I'm, like, that's, I wasn't that, if that makes sense, you know? I think being misunderstood is frustrating. In general, exactly. Exactly. So, yeah, I was just going through, like, a really hard time. And we haven't talked, like, we didn't talk at this point, like, for a while. And I remember, like, going outside and, like, looking up and kind of, like, talking to God, basically. Like, what do I do? You know? And I almost, like, remember, like, it sounds so weird, but, like, seeing her face in the stars, right? Like, I feel like that was, like, my sign to, like, reach back out to her. And it was the strangest thing. For some reason, I could not contact her. No, like, nothing. She deleted all her social media. I did not have her number no more. Like, you name it, it was gone. And if you get to know me a little bit more, I'm really bad with names. I don't know why. So, this is relevant to the story. Because I, like, really unlocked something. And I remembered her cousin's name somehow. Like, I remembered her cousin's name. And I found him on social media. And I reached out to him, like, please tell Brielle I'm trying to contact her. And so, he sent a picture that he was actually with Brielle at that time. And sent a picture. I remember it was, like, the most beautiful picture ever. She didn't have no makeup or nothing. Like, it looked like she just rolled out of bed. She probably had a booger in her eye. But, like, I didn't care. Like, it was so, like, I was, like, this is my woman. And so, finally, she, like, got back in touch with me. But it was so crazy. Because she got back in touch with me. And we were leaving to go on a cruise. And I went to go try to text her back. And we had just, like, left the port where the service wasn't working. And so, my texts were not going through at all. And she had just texted you? And she had finally texted me. You're, like, and I was, like, why did you not answer me? Yes, I was stressing that entire cruise. I was, like, trying to figure out how to, like, get. I was, like, mom. Were you trying to pay for the Wi-Fi? Yeah, I was, like, mom, pay for the Wi-Fi. I'll pay you back. Like, come on, get, all this kind of stuff. And it was just nothing was working. And I actually. I wound up winning an iPad on that cruise. And that is also relevant to the story. Just hear me out. That's so random. It is random. But when I got back off the cruise, I was still trying to text her. And for some reason, I had an Android phone at the time. And it was not texting her. And she would not get social media. And she didn't have it. And I couldn't talk to her to ask her to get it for me just so we could talk. And so, winning that iPad was the only way that we were able to talk to each other. Like, I, like, I messaged her on that iPad for the first, like. And his little love will find a way. Yes, exactly. I guess that's my point is, like, all these. Like, being, like, being young. Being far away from each other. Being, like, you know, not having social media. Not contacting. Like, there was always something that came to us and, like, was able to make this work. You know? With all, you know, things kind of going against us, I guess. And so, I found her. And my life has been amazing ever since. So. You were texting on the iPad? Yeah. And it was just, like. Just his little iCloud. Just my little iCloud email. And, you know. Just texting. We're FaceTiming, like, every night. We're FaceTiming. And, um. And finally. This is kind of a funny story. So, finally. It was around Halloween. Because Booma Dea Halloween came out. And. Yeah. Can't. Booma Dea. I don't know what that is. You know the Medea movies? No. Why do I not know the references today? The Tyler Perry. The Tyler Perry movies? No. Gosh. I know that name. It's okay. You wouldn't know. He's so. I'm striking out today, man. No. You're good. You're good. You're so good. Okay. Back to the Medea. I feel like you would like it, Matt. Okay. Yeah. You would love it. I think you would love it. So, anyway. I was like, hey. That just came out. Would you want to go see it? And she's like, yeah. Yeah. I can tell my mom to bring me right now. I said, okay. Like, let's do it. And I was 16. She was 15. And my best friend. She had a car. I had my license. I didn't have a car yet. And so, she was like, I'll bring you. I'll bring you. I said, okay. Cool. I said, I just have to go convince my mom now. Like, I don't, you know. And so, we got. You're like, mom, I have a savings account. I have a car. I hit every criteria you told me to. Like, come on. Like, I need to level up. You know. And so, guys. We probably missed like two movies. Okay. Of like the screenings. Of how long it took to convince my mom to let me go meet this girl. That was the first time we met. Like, in person. Yeah. In person. Because I had seen him on the stage, but he had never seen me. Four years of not. Of just talking. Of not. Of not seeing each other physically. Wow. Yeah. And we were only 30 minutes away the whole time. Yeah. Was it awkward then? Oh, yeah. Yes. She made it awkward. I got out of the car and I was like. I was like, hey. You know, whatever. She's like, hey. And I was like, you're not going to give me a hug? Like, I'm like here like with open arms. Well, because he wanted to do that immediately. And I just kind of was taking my little moment. And then I think I like side hugged you. Yeah. Then she side hugged me. I was like. She's like, I don't like men. So. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. I just was shy. You had to warm up. I'm still surprised she likes me. But it's okay. Not long after that. Yeah. I mean, you pretty much moved in. What do you mean by moved in? So like on and off. And then eventually turned in. Like you guys weren't. Like you guys were breaking up or. No, no, no. On and off. Like she would stay at my house. She would go back. What? To your dad's or grandma's or something. Okay. Yeah. And. And your parents. Hmm. Not at first. Not. Well, yeah. Not at first. Until they like realized her situation at home. And then like my dad was like. Oh, no. Yeah. I can't bring her back. We just had a very different childhood. Yeah. Um. And so right around the time that me and Carson started talking again, my parents were. I think they had just told us they were getting a divorce. Okay. Um. And. I had moved in with my dad and my grandma's and my mom was still like at the house that we were living at. There was just a lot of stuff going on. And I didn't really understand like what a family was. So I kind of got with him and went. Like I remember that first day I went to your house. Yeah. It surprised you on your birthday. And I was like, this is so weird. Like it was like just a normal family. And I just wasn't used to that because I grew up in a very chaotic household. So. What was happening? Like what, what was going on that made it so hard to be at home? I was nine and my mom started doing drugs. It wasn't like intentional. Like she had a lot of medical issues and it just, she became addicted to pills. I think I was 10 and she went to rehab. Okay. In that time, my parents had split up. So I was living with my dad at an apartment. It was just me and him. Cause my sister, I have one sister. She wanted to stay with my mom. I think she had that like protectiveness over her. Whereas I just wanted to be away from it. We're living in the apartment and my mom went to rehab and she got better. She did good. And she was good for about a year. My parents were like, oh my gosh, you're going to be okay. My parents got back together. We got a different house. Everything seemed fine. And then she messed up again. And then from that point, it kind of was like one month she'd be good. And then the next month she'd mess up. up and so it was constant up and down when you say drugs are these like pain pills from a surgery that then she got addicted to or like what do you mean she had a hysterectomy I think at 27 and so it kind of because she had endometriosis really bad um then they said like if you want any chance of having kid you need to try now that's when they tried for me one thing about endometriosis which I never knew is that actually like it gets better when you're pregnant for a lot of women so she was good and it kind of like I think I was like four and she got a hysterectomy it was kind of after that point that it just changed everything for her and she just constantly had issues and then it became to where she kind of made herself have issues so that she could go to the hospital and she could you know what's it like having a mom that's addicted to drugs how did that affect you as a kid made you have to grow up really fast yeah I kind of feel like I didn't have a childhood like I didn't really get to experience being the kid who was like the kid because I was just worried all the time um I dealt with anxiety a lot as a kid I never knew what was going to happen it actually got worse as I got older which sucks but nothing ever felt peaceful um it was constant it's constant chaos chaos and worry and I think another part of it was that my dad just wanted to fix everything in that moment and so he would just be like okay like I'll just get you whatever you want and we can just like put this behind us and to me that just frustrated me because it was like why are we not you know fixing this it's just like we're kind of like we're sweeping it under the rug and all of that is still there so this happened even into our relationship you know um I've seen things that I probably never wanted to see but I'm also so grateful that like I think God brought us together to like be able to take her from that because it was definitely like in that perfect timing yeah because that was right because my parents had just just told us that we're like we're getting a divorce and my mom actually she started drinking at that time which was something she never did and it was just a whole different side of her then my dad was going through it he was very depressed so I guess I just didn't feel like I had anywhere to go because I would be at my grandma's house with my dad but then that felt weird and I just wanted to be at my house in my room but then being in my house in my room my mom was you know yeah passed out in the bathroom passed out whatever yeah so being around Carson it just felt like wow like this is actually what family is supposed to be like wow this is like it was weird to me and then his parents seen that and I remember that was like the first time like your mom was like well just let her stay here and then there wasn't I mean it felt weird I mean when you think about it you're 15 years old and you're like you slept over at your boyfriend's house like it doesn't sound really odd but you know my mom and dad were my entire life we always had people living with us like we always had a spare room for somebody that needed it yeah and so um you know they had their they wound up having like their fourth kid and uh they actually made um Brielle and him like their own room like they was together but like yeah like so Brielle had her own room in the house brother when whenever I came he was eight yeah he was eight so he's just like the little brother yeah a little silly guy and uh and he did not sleep in the in a room like at all like he slept on the couch or with my mom and dad still like he was not you know and so my mom was like this room is really going to be for you Brielle but like you know we'll just say it's also Kingston she felt bad not giving like her actual kid yeah right and so they the room kind of like got split in half and uh and like they shared a room and he's actually our editor and uh shout out uncle it um but um but no yeah it was like he was like the third wheel like he he went on all of our dates with us like he's he's awesome but it was just it was just so funny because like yeah she had her own room in the house and uh yeah I don't know but yeah it didn't start that way because his dad of course had feelings about it yeah he didn't like it like I really don't know if we should have our son's girlfriend living with us you know but I think that night is when he's seen it with his own eyes type of thing and he just felt like he couldn't do that and so it kind of never like uh okay you're living with us now it just kind of happened yeah and it was like slowly I would like move more stuff yeah more clothes here and then like oh just leave that here and then it just became yeah I stayed yeah was that ever a conversation that you have with your parents or was it not that's the weird thing it was like no one just ever talked about it like it just happened I remember you know people had feelings about it but it I mean that was apparent I'm like how could you ever like let that happen I guess especially when you're like still there like it's not like it was a situation where like my parents weren't around or something like that it was like they were right there the whole time they were they were right there but they weren't there like so present and at the time I think it was like two weeks after we got together my sister had she moved out so like so she was really just everybody she was living on her own yeah did not drive yet didn't have a car didn't nothing didn't have food in the house you know yeah I don't know what was there ever a worry of getting pregnant like when you're in high school was that ever was that ever a fear we never did anything like that till after marriage oh no way yeah so like we we respected it you know um obviously like we kissed and stuff but like we never like took it further um just because I don't know I think we knew the the consequences if you will or like you know of that of that possibility and like we just weren't I guess we weren't there yet like we wanted our own place you know and so yeah we wanted to be yeah at a certain stage in her our life before we did that yeah yeah and it's I mean he has a humongous family and like everybody's very very close so it's like even just hanging out in the house it's like everybody's right there yeah like there's that was like a weird part of our relationship we kind of like struggled with yeah because we it's weird when you first get together and you're like oh my god I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know because I feel like normally it's like okay well you like go on dates and then you're like you're apart and then you come together and it's like a different way of getting to know each other and we didn't have that because we just it was like we literally were constantly with each other so there was moments where you know not a lot but there was like a few moments where I was like I think we need a break like physically from each other just to like kind of like almost like a lot yeah oh I was gonna say you're living together but you're also dating and you're and you're kids and so yeah it probably didn't necessarily feel like an option if you guys ever did want to break up or take a break oh yeah we thought that probably didn't feel like you could we yes that that is something that we still think about to this day where it's like what would like we asked I think you asked me that like what like if we would have broken up yeah where would I have gone what would I have done where would I be actually yeah that's like the real question is like where would I be today again it goes back to we really believe that we were just meant to be because like everything truly worked out how it was supposed to you know and it still is it just proves that like love is stronger than anything you know so that's that's a genuine question that I I asked you know we asked ourselves too like what would have happened that's honest that's that's real I think hearing about your childhood it makes me wonder that now you are a mom of two like how that affects you now raising your own children so kind of like how I said the anxiety actually got worse actually when we got together so like as a kid it was kind of like common it was moments I would feel nervous I remember like physically being sick as a kid from just being anxious but it was like next day all better and I remember we were um I think it was like a few months into like me like officially staying at your house and I just woke up one night and like I felt like there was like an elephant on my chest and I had never felt that before like that way and I remember like I was scared I was like what is going on and it took about how long of ever months of like every single day I felt like I was actually dying and I was scared that I was and then I think I lost like 10 pounds which I'm already little so like I yeah look scary everyone told me it was anxiety and I would not believe them I was like there's no way like anxiety doesn't do that to you like something's wrong with me and then another thing about me is I um health anxiety is like the worst for me like I'm terrified of doctors and stuff like that so just the thought of like something being wrong with me I just I struggled with that so as we navigated through that and I finally was like okay like this has to be anxiety like it just makes sense I remember I started to finally feel better I think it was right before we got married and then I was like the best I ever was whenever I got pregnant with Zalia and that whole pregnancy like I felt like amazing like I was like I loved the way I feel having her the main thing that it did for me was I could not understand how a parent could do that to their kid and you just like look at your kid and you're like there's no way like I would choose anything over you and I think that was my biggest thing was like I never understood why my mom couldn't just get it together you know like like you have two kids that are like begging you basically to get it together and she just wouldn't I think from that point I just like really looked at Dali and I was like I need to choose to be better always for you I just knew that I had to get better for them like I knew that like I could not let anxiety take over my life because I knew that a lot of what my mom started with was anxiety and a lot of things that she grew up with was that and I know that if she would have gotten the help at a certain time in her life I don't think she would have been where she was and so I just constantly tell myself that of like I have to make sure that I get it together because I won't let something control my life and who I am because that's not fair to my kids so I wanted to take every kind of like precaution and that's why I started like therapy and I was doing things that felt like I needed to do for them and I know I struggled with that when I felt it again because I felt good pregnant and then there was moments after I had died that I felt it again and I remember beating myself up because it was like like why like you can't do this like you're a parent like you can't do that. You guys built your house yourselves right? Yes. Yeah. Talk to me about that because that not not many people actually build their own house. Yeah for sure so this at this point in our life we had just gotten engaged and my where we live Hurricane Katrina in 2005 destroyed like pretty much every house in sight like my parents had like I think it was like 10 feet of water in their house. Oh my gosh. So did insurance pay for their house to be rebuilt? Yes and no. What do you mean by that? So my dad chose to take the money and pay off their loan and then just build the house from scratch basically. So yes it they paid they paid out the house basically they it wasn't like I don't know if it was enough to finish the house I don't I don't know all the details I just know that he did tell me that he wound up just paying off the house with the money that insurance gave him. But hold up so then he had to buy a new one then after the first one was paid off? No we just rebuilt. Rebuilt because they had the land and everything. So okay so literally what it looked like was just studs everywhere we had a pressure wash all the mold and everything off so it was literally just a house and a roof standing. Goodness you remember this? Yeah yeah I was I was like six so. Where did you guys go when the hurricane hit? Uh Georgia. Yeah thank goodness you weren't there. Yeah well yeah we found out so um apparently right before that I mean I was young but this everybody talked about oh that was before the storm that was before the storm. A lot of people talk about like before COVID after COVID it was it's kind of like that where we're from like oh that was before the storm. I'm like wasn't there like a Rite Aid or something right here and they're like yeah that was before the storm you remember that? And I'm like yeah so um so anyway yeah like we came back home and it was disgusting there was mud like up there it was horrible and so but my my dad and grandpa they stripped the whole house down bare bones rebuilt it pretty much from scratch um and we were staying in a trailer a FEMA trailer right in front of our house and they were rebuilding it so that's kind of like my family's like very capable I guess if that makes like you can say so and um. Does your dad have a construction background? No he fixes cars for a living. He just knows how to fix stuff he just knows how to do it. He's just he's just the guy. He's just the guy. Yeah. And he taught you how to do that that's how you knew how to build a house? My grandpa actually so my my grandpa his it's funny his background's printing but um he is he is the guy he's the one that taught my dad like during Katrina uh the that rebuild of the house after Katrina like he's the one that like was like hey like this is the book you need to read you got this here's this how you read a tape measure this or whatever and like my dad picked it up like nothing and same thing for me like my grandpa taught me how to and Brielle how to build and so during covid we got engaged literally the day covid hit it makes it was that's a whole crazy story in itself but um but yeah anyway so so my parents the reason why I bring up Katrina is because um the people that live next door to my parents before the storm they did not move back okay so their house just got destroyed and they just left it and so because my parents live right next door they were able to buy that property uh they had like first dibs basically for like super cheap and so we had that property basically where another house could be and we built a little pool house mother-in-law whatever you want to call it uh on that on that property and uh and Brielle thought it was a joke you know she really thought it was a joke because my mom was like just go build a little house back there and I was like are you for real and my dad's like yeah y'all can I don't you know whatever and um we're like okay cool and so I literally went outside like with some bricks and we're kind of like laying stuff out and I was like what are you doing and she's I'm like I don't know I don't know I don't know what you're doing I don't know what you're doing and she's I'm like they said we could and then she's like yeah they weren't serious I'm like my parents are serious you know and uh and so then my dad gets out there and he's like marking it out with us and Brielle's like this is not real life and you know and we're like yes it is so um my grandpa uh he has like some health conditions stuff like that like he has problems with his heart he had multiple heart attacks and whatnot so during covid he just stayed with like pretty much stayed by our house like not sleep like he didn't sleep there but like instead of going to work and all that kind of stuff he just stayed with us and every day that's what we're doing we're building the tiny home it was me Brielle and my grandpa building that tiny home from the ground up that's impressive with his heart too yeah yeah yeah don't tell him he had a heart attack he still doesn't believe he had a heart attack that's that's how he is but uh we love him um and so yeah is it hard not to get in arguments when you're in a 560 square foot space yeah together with two kids with two kids that's probably the hardest part because me and brad trying to have a passionate conversation we don't argue really we just like are pretty passionate when we speak sometimes um and Zalia's like guys guys listen listen it's all right guys and i'm like Zalia we're not we're not mad at each other like we're good you know she's like i know but guys you gotta turn your volume down guys you know you know and uh and i'm like Zalia we're just talking like it's all right you know the best time to have a conversation is when both kids fall asleep in the car and you're driving around yeah definitely um we definitely have to get out the house a lot and and tiny home didn't even start at 560 square foot that's like i think that's like with my dad's shed included the five yeah is it 412. it was 416. yeah 416. it was 416. that's how it was literally just a studio apartment yeah it was just one room with the bathroom and uh and i always knew we were gonna have one kid in it but then when we were like property and housing and all that kind of stuff because again the storm hit and so some of the houses that were rebuilt were through katrina and like they didn't they didn't do the due diligence like my grandpa my dad did so like they might have had underlying conditions and stuff like that for the houses that we could afford and we're just like this is just not the way to go so when we we wanted to have another kid so i was like okay i gotta like be husband dad mode or whatever like figure out what we're gonna do you know and um and it made it so much easier and brow told me she's like i just want to stay close to your family i said okay babe now i know where to look that's sweet yeah and so um do your kids sleep in the same bed as you guys yeah no way yeah they have to we only have one room there's one bedroom there's one bedroom so do you guys go to bed all at the same time and wake up all at the same time yeah i i don't but yeah we typically do yeah like pretty much yeah like i i'm a big gamer i'm just gonna say that so uh so like i go to bed kind of late and wake up kind of early just so i can like have like 30 minutes you know of like playing something or working or writing or whatever um but no she she sleeps in with the kids you know but again she's like nursing all night too so she's like not even like in a deep sleep most of the time but um but yeah so i don't really go to bed at the same time as them i like to stay up and wake up early kind of thing um but for the most part like yeah we all go lay down at the same time how do you have time for each other when they're your kids are in your bedroom they said in the car when they're driving in the car no matt you're like you're messed up i'm sorry i mean like you're so messed up everybody that would ask i don't know no yeah no you're good uh i don't i don't know i don't know because she sleeps a lot so i don't know that's a great question i don't know i don't know babe how do we i don't know when the kids sleep obviously i mean yeah i guess there's a will as a way i don't know i mean but then again like we grew up with i don't know just all these people around so i don't know it's not like i mean honestly back in the day everybody used to live in a in a tiny home yeah like everyone's house was like 500 square foot yeah 100 years ago this is true so we're just doing what our ancestors did that's right yes we're just going back to the roots okay disney plus hulu will make your day every day here's how some days you want to laugh new girl some days a mystery the all-new hulu original series furious some days you want both and nobody of walking shoes for your one-year-old the tomato soup you shared with your sister at the cafe these are the moments that make nordstrom nordstrom big or small we're here for you all of it celebrating 125 years with new moments still had discover it all in nordstrom stores and at nordstrom.com how has it been adjusting to two kids at first with like a newborn it wasn't as bad um but as lyrics getting bigger it's definitely hard because they don't have a lot of room to like play as much like they literally have just like one little area and then also the amount of stuff is just that's my yeah biggest thing braille braille's the kind of person that she has to have a place for everything yeah like every single thing right like i make this joke but it's not a joke bazalia has like five little like barns they're all different colors and they all have like animals in them and we have to make sure that every animal goes in the exact color barn and put them back exactly how they're supposed to be like that's how like she wants everything to be and when you live in a tiny home like and then especially then when you have two kids like when you live in a tiny home she kind of like had her way because you had to have a place for everything like you couldn't move too much but after having kids I'm like maybe you gotta just there's just not a spot for everything yeah so it's so yeah just getting a little tight and you're building a new house right across the street across the street from the tiny home did you guys just buy that land and it was open no it was not open oh that story we have so many stories how did you get how did you get it then so available I said where there's a will there's a way pretty much okay pretty much honestly so we were actually gonna buy a property a couple blocks down like two streets over yeah like two or three streets over a couple blocks down and um so still wasn't too far no it wasn't too far you know it was it was it was walkable ish you know but um but something didn't feel right about that lot and like that property and we kind of just like I don't know it just it didn't fall through for a reason let's put it like that and um and when I was talking to my mom about you know trying to find property and everything because we decided to build because of what we were telling you guys like how none of the houses that were in the price range we thought was a good like good investment a good idea because we didn't know what underlying conditions they were without like breaking up the walls like all that kind of stuff with with Hurricane Katrina like we could probably build since we know how to do a lot of it ourselves we could probably build it for like the same price of like a brand new house or I mean uh one of those houses you know close to like a brand new house like we probably could save like a hundred hundred fifty thousand dollars like by building it ourselves you're right yeah so that's like that's the route we decided to go and um and so anyway my mom I was expressing a lot of stuff and I was very stressed out at this point in time because she was pregnant with our son which we didn't know he was a boy yet uh I was still working like a nine to five um and that was that's a whole story and I was like I'm gonna build a and I was just that was a lot on my plate and so my mom was like well what about the one right across the street I'm like mom I don't know if that's for sale I was like I don't even know who owns that she goes well just hypothetically speaking like would like why not just you know if you could I was like I don't know I said I don't know but I said she wants to live close I don't know about that close you know yeah you already live in your backyard you know and so um so I go home and I said babe just just hypothetically speak because I'm already thinking she's gonna be like are you serious guys I'm like I said close not that close like I'm thinking she's gonna be like whatever and so I'm like babe just hypothetically hypothetically speaking if the property across the street was available would you want that one and she goes oh yeah I would rather that one way more than the other lots and I was like are you serious right now and so um and so I was like okay and so I figured out who owned it I called him and I said uh he didn't answer but I left him a voicemail and I asked him like I'm like hey this is the situation my parents live across the street we have two kids like another one's on the way or we have a kid another one's on the way we'd love to build and be close to family he goes oh we'd love to sell it to you let me see how much I have in in for like how much I have in it and uh and I'll get back with you I said okay cool and I prayed a prayer and I said god if he comes back with this particular number I'll know it's from you and I'll buy that and I'll lose my deposit on the other house because we literally we were about to sign for the other property um I think it was like five grand or something like that like it you know and um and so I was and I'll know this is from you and you know and so literally um and at this time we also thought we were having complications with um our son which we didn't know he was a boy gosh and um and so it was just I was very Brielle's like she said she's normally the anxious one she was so calm and chill about everything with the son like with our our second baby and I was acting like I was fine because I didn't want to show that my nervous like I was nervous and and stressed out to her like I was like I'm supposed to be like this stable like positive go lucky kind of guy right so it's like I didn't want to do that but it got so bad that my hands started like breaking out like bumps and I didn't know why like they would like anything I touch like hurt and suck like I work my keyboard and mouse it's like it was like so painful and when you look it up like it's a real thing it's called stress bumps like your body's releasing it because you're not so like because I wasn't like verbally or anything like expressing like what was it was my body was figuring out a way to get out the stress and I was like this is crazy I'm like I don't even want to believe in stress but obviously it's real and so um just had all those like you know all those terms and all these things that you don't want to hear about your baby you know and um and so anyway so that I'm trying to figure out where we're going to live trying to figure out what to do with work you know all this kind of stuff and so after my mom says that I tell Brielle I reach out to him uh the guy who owns the property and I and I pray that prayer I'm like lord like if it's this number I know it's from you and so I'm driving to work you know crying whatever and then um uh it's like around lunchtime at work and Brielle's like the test results are in for for our baby like can you go look at him in the car you know I'm like okay so I go in the car you know and open the test results and it says he's perfectly healthy and he's a boy I'm like oh my gosh and so I'm crying I'm thanking god you know and then I go home like and I put the little box together or whatever and I I surprise Brielle and Zali and I say this is what we're having you know and tell Brielle that we're having a boy and tell Zali that we're having a little brother and she's like no I want it to be a sister and I said it's a brother so and um and so as soon as I showed them that it was a boy I I walked into our bedroom which is again it's only like three feet away uh and I get yeah legit and I pull up my phone and it's a text message from the guy and he said would this number work and it was the exact number I asked god for and I was like I fell to my knees like crying laughing and Brielle's like what what and I'm he said the number he said the number I was like yes and she's like you know we're crying or whatever and uh yeah so we got the lot across the street and now we're building wow that's amazing living so close to family it seems like you're like fully on board you like love this too is there ever a time where you're like okay we need to set up some boundaries like do you have boundaries with your family oh yeah what does that look like that's like the hardest thing to do yeah especially because I grew up homeschooled well not even homes I grew up unschooled okay what does that mean it means like we don't follow a curriculum like my mom like whatever our interest was my mom like went full force with that so like me I love dance like I went full force dance like or I love space so like she's like all these space books and all this kind of stuff like you know whatever we were super into she like went full force you know my brother loves animals a lady was talking to me about unschooling in a coffee shop here people out here do it too yeah it's it's becoming more and more common like uh Billie Eilish and Phineas like they were they grew up they were unschooled they grew up the exact same way I didn't know either and my sister's like a huge fan of her so like she was telling me and she's like dude she was like raised like us I'm like that's pretty sick do you guys wear deodorant and yes okay where does that question isn't that like a crunchy thing is it like unschooling a crunchy thing I don't know I feel like crunchy people don't like deodorant because of that question I love that he didn't even question he's like yeah we do yeah yeah I'm like I'm thinking like I'm like I'm sorry man like bro like I know it's hot in Arizona bro like like dude it's hot dude I'm sorry I wasn't trying to be rude I just wanted to know I think how crunchy are we talking did you like growing up unschooled I loved it looking back I absolutely loved it and like we want to do it with our kids I think we're gonna have a little bit more structure to it like I think um because growing up like I was super insecure about I still kind of am a little bit but like writing in front of people like doing math in front of people six times nine don't be doing this I'm sorry six times nine is 63 right 54 shoot wait which one's 63 oh this is so bad seven times nine oh that's so bad yeah I need to go back to I need oh goodness and I went to school yeah and that's what I'm learning is that just because you how you grew up doesn't necessarily mean anything no no at all I think it matters who you are and what you bring to this world you know at the end of the day but um but yeah so I loved looking back I absolutely loved it I think it it allowed me to figure out what I wanted to do and who I am at a at an earlier age um you know when I was in it I remember wanting to go to high school because like I watch high school musical and like all that kind of stuff I'm like oh this is what high school is like I wanted to do that so bad and um and you know I had friends in high school and stuff like that like oh my best friend the same one that helped me you know get with Brielle by driving us to the movies was um she she decided to do that she decided to go to high school because she was unschooled until high school and she went it's like I went to prom with her and like everything like that and um and I'm like yeah I don't care to do this I do not like it was not my thing I was like I'm very grateful for you know um that my mom and dad chose to do that with me yeah and my siblings what's funny is the lady at the coffee shop that was like trying to tell me about unschooling her daughter's interest was YouTube and so that's why she was like interesting approaching me and she knew you were a YouTuber I guess yeah and I was like I'm so sorry I'm not the person to ask but yeah I was like I can put you in contact with my husband wait were you homeschooled no you know no no yeah he went to private school I went to public school and yeah I did both cool so but that's really neat I didn't know that yep yeah how did we get here what we're talking about oh boundaries with family yes boundaries family okay okay we spent a lot of time yes what I'm trying to get at yes so you guys used to not have boundaries but then you had to bring in boundaries yes you can like be your own family that was very difficult I think we're still probably doing that yes because if you think about it I mean the a kid going to school or they're gone hours of the day yeah he was with his mom specifically and his siblings constantly like they didn't have any time to away except for when you went to dance so i loved going to dance so when i got went into the family it was like yeah everybody was very in each other's business and yeah that's just how it was even like grandparents and aunts like like we're just we come together like every saturday pretty much like just to hang out like that's just how we are yeah and um and so yeah setting those boundaries was is was super difficult it was a lot of hard conversations a lot of like you know and i think we still have to set some like as we're learning as we're growing you know as you have kids too it changes things that that's what i think we really set those boundaries was when we had kids you know the boundaries weren't i'm gonna say they weren't there but like i think they weren't as there until we had kids okay it was easier to set those boundaries once we had kids just because you know they understand like okay you know we raised you like y'all talking about me and like my siblings differently than how my parents raised us so like we'll respect you know how you guys are raising you know when you decide to raise your kids you know what's an example of one of those boundaries yeah a silly one i'm trying to think tell us the silly one silly one is uh when we tell our daughter no you can't get on the table my mom's like yeah yeah you can get on my table and she like puts her on the table to like dance or whatever she does you know like that's like a really silly like dumb one but like we didn't want our daughter to like then go to restaurants and i think she can get on a table which that kind of wound up happening you know um so that's kind of like that's a silly boundary but like that's kind of one of them um you know i they don't like come over to the tiny home like ever like like we go over there i think it's mainly just like maybe ways that they would talk yeah in front of other family members or maybe to them like we didn't want that so we kind of had to set that boundary yeah like maybe maybe like my mom is a is a mom to all she's you know and so like maybe like her kind of talking to our kids if she's the mom if maybe maybe that's a decent one you know um but i think we're still learning you know we're still learning we're still learning we're still learning we're still yeah for sure that's definitely a like i feel like it changes too yeah and especially as your kids get older and you add to your family oh yeah i mean you were saying how you can't wait to be a grandma like can you imagine like the boys like saying mom no that's not you know like yeah like putting that boundary there you're like i'm already preparing my heart yeah yeah you know so you know i can only also imagine from their their point of view yeah you know it's so sweet that your family is like so involved like it seems like with every step of your journey you're like it's like i consulted my mom i consulted my dad and i think that's really that's really special like the fact that you guys you have that trust of your parents and that they like have clearly done something super intentional throughout raising you where you like you can come to them like even as an adult i think that's really really cool and both of you now yeah disney plus hulu will make your day every day here's how some days you want to laugh new girl some days a mystery the all-new hulu original series furious some days you want both and nobody has to know and saturday espn college game day into espn college football make your day every day with disney plus hulu 18 and older with the disney nordstrom big or small we're here for all of it celebrating 125 years with new moments still had discover it all in nordstrom stores and at nordstrom.com so we put up a poll on the unplanned podcast instagram okay and you guys asked some questions for yeah for brielle and carson so we're going to answer those right now first one is from elise she said what's one thing you hope your kids remember about their childhood that they were loved yeah i hope that they feel like when they look back that we did everything to give them the best childhood and that we were intentional with it next one is from madeline she said how sad are you that crawfish season has come to an end brielle's very sad yeah me more than carson okay they're they're called mud bugs and like sometimes some seasons will pass and like i don't even eat them because the thought of like how nasty they are grosses me out why are they nasty they're like the cockroaches of the river like really yeah what do they eat dirt like just like junk like like literally like like i okay i'm gonna like i don't even care i'm gonna like roast myself i take the poo off of the crawfish i saw you do that in the video i don't i don't i just have like a poop line in it and yeah most people don't they just don't they just don't they just don't care they just eat it you can eat the poop yeah yeah it's fine why are people eating poop most people in louisiana she said most people are fine i guess because it's cooked is there a health risk there if you boil it i just think about shrimp i feel like you're eating it same thing it's very yeah yeah i've definitely eaten shrimp poop before yes yes you've eaten shrimp poop but it's their intestines it's their yeah it's just it's probably their large intestine it tastes so good though but like it's kind of like i don't want to say offensive but kind of to like a person that lives in louisiana if you take the poo out right that's what i said yeah like they're like if you live in louisiana or you should not be taking that out or if you peel crawfish with gloves it's like bro really yeah oh gloves they were hating on me for that but we don't care we have small children we need to wear that yeah because i still nurse my son and i didn't because like most of the time crawfish spicy it's spicy so i didn't want to the smell stained your hands so bad yeah like you'll have crawfish hands for like days so we'll look like uh tourists if we wear gloves yeah yeah but i mean i did it just because i wasn't trying to touch my son with spicy hands is that why zalia doesn't eat it and she just wants to peel it yeah my dad does try to make her like more spicy but i think she just enjoys like peeling it more than eating it and she'll like try it and try and she'll pretend to eat it but she's not a big yeah but yes she does not like anything that's remotely spicy so that's a big reason i think it's going to lie one time i thought you guys were bringing us crawfish and so i was so i was like excited and surprised when you brought us the cake because you said because you said that you wanted to bring us some food yeah i'm like i don't know what this is but i'd seen the crawfish videos but yeah i think that's i think that's dope though i'm excited to find baby jesus in that cake we need to find you yeah we need to find it um dude that's funny next you want to ask the next one yes it says what made you start dancing this one's from rye bye-bye um i started dancing well we both are dancing because of michael jackson we didn't know who he was wait i need to know the tie-in for michael jackson still so like when he passed away when he passed away 17 years ago like we did not know who he was at all like we were like i didn't even like no like he had no clue neither did she and so when when her parents were like sobbing because this man was on the news like michael jackson died and both of our parents are like freaking out what the heck and they're like who is this and they're like you don't know michael jackson and we're like no like you didn't show me um so like they showed us the videos and i was like the tie-in is that he would have i would have never found it he would have never found his love for dance if it wasn't for that and then so we say that we're like dang like michael jackson brought us together yeah because if he would have never seen that he would have never like been like okay i want to try dance and then i would have never seen him at the recital right that's kind of so we that's what it was yeah next we have this question from oh yeah writhing thing writing too she said are you wanting more kids yes yeah at least one more we say at least three at most five but then again we don't know maybe we get to five and we're like let's do five more i don't know i don't know about that one um yes at least one more though at least one more yeah i i really i'm gonna put this out there now i really think our next one's gonna be a girl i don't know why i keep saying the strongest feeling it's gonna be a girl i know i have a girl first and i think i'm gonna have a girl again but if i'm not it's okay i'm i'm super happy with either i just really feel it i don't know why if he's he's only 10 months old now but from now i'm just so curious having one of each because we only have boys like is it pretty different already or you think so everybody would always be like oh that's a boy and like we didn't understand that because like no offense but like he he's not really like that like growing up like he wasn't like boy like crazy wild like little boy so like and i feel like your siblings weren't really either but like the feelings also are different already my daughter's very like she has big feelings and it's like everything is kind of just like huge for her and it's in a different i mean yeah i'm just picturing her face in the video where she's like i know and people put that in our comments all the time it's just that one shot of that yeah at this point um yeah she just feels really big and you can already tell that lyrics just like he's silly and he's like funny and he's more just like so chill yeah he's chill and she's just yeah it's it's different okay last user submitted question says rochelle what does this one mean uh it is oh it's it's what zalia says uh the it's so nummy question mark so cute it was so good it was so nummy oh no you tell us was the cake so nummy so nummy oh we don't we missed that we should have said so no we gotta miss missed opportunities you guys start talking like how your kids feel oh my god matt was just saying that he's like abby like they're not we went on a date last night like kid free date for the first time in a long time and i was like still quote like oh yeah oh yeah she always does that she always says words the way that our kids say the word oh yeah and it's you don't not as much yeah i'm like get with the slang in this household she did that even when she'd babysit she would quote the kids she'd babysit but last night she said i can't even say it right it's just abby said the word girl instead of like girl it sounds like squirrel your cousins do that yeah they say girl yeah yeah besides nummy what's your favorite thing that zalia says raw fish raw fish or um so she says um not anymore unfortunately but she would say isn't that yes i hate it but for strawberries she would say bajas and we don't know like where it came bajas for strawberries everybody thinks that that's like because i think it's um what is it in spanish bajas or something like that i don't remember i'm butchering it anyway people will comment us and say like maybe she's saying in spanish she just secretly knows yeah um which is my grandpa he speaks spanish so maybe he did tell her that one day and it just stuck i have no idea i know my favorite oosh the shoes oh you like that one i do she says kevin for heaven yeah so like so like she'll be like she goes like where's jesus and we're like in heaven and she was like i want to go to kevin yeah it's so cute can we just let her i don't even want to correct that right now can she say her name like the way that her name is said now or she's because i noticed yeah she couldn't really say she says um yeah yeah it's like plural i don't know why she like always yeah that's i don't know why that's cute do people say she looks like one of the other more i do feel like she looks she does definitely does your son i think he he's a good mix of both of us i think he's a mix um but yeah she is like a spitting image of me it's kind of scary yeah if you saw his kid pictures it's kind of creepy our youngest couldn't say our oldest name for a while so he would call him fifan that's so cute he's the one who picked out his nicknames he's the one who picked out his nicknames he's the one who picked name too yeah griffey yeah he just randomly started calling our son griffin griffey and so that's so cute okay now we have agree to disagree we need to do these fast we have so many today okay we don't have to do all of them i think we should do this yes i would agree to disagree once you pick you head it up my brain doesn't work the first one for agree to disagree and this will be you guys saying i'll give you a countdown and i'll say three two one and then you can say agree or disagree okay i actually don't know what you're gonna say to this based off of our conversation even though we talked about it a lot question number one couples should live together before getting married three two one agree agree no way i think so yeah yeah um i think there is a very special thing about kind of growing up together yeah and i feel like you see just different sides obviously when it's constantly together and i think that i think we have a lot more conversations because of that i don't know if i can i don't know what to add on that because like now my brain's like thinking about it i'm like well maybe not some people okay but i'm just gonna overthink this right now yeah okay now now for a follow-up one agree to disagree couples should wait till marriage three two one agree because i feel like that's like that's something unique about you guys answers would be consistent for those two yeah yeah it's interesting i like that um there was something more special about waiting i think and i think like braille is my first and last like she's my has been my only girlfriend like only wife you know and so i think there's something special that you're the only person that will ever get to know me fully and i have that connection with you know and um there's something really special about that and i think you know marriage is literally this like it's like a ritual thing anyway you know like you get married and like you have all these things you're supposed to do like the candle or you know whatever it may be that you do and it's like that's a part of it too you know so i don't know i think it was just i don't know what did you mean by like the candle oh sorry like when you like the union candle oh like yeah yeah well some people do like the sand or the people do like sand some people do like everyone has different some people breathe yeah they're not right you change rings that's a ritual i just don't know if you guys like really into candles or something so okay i mean we do agree to disagree carson wears the pants in the household three two one yeah i don't know um i think i always just say we're you have to say agree to disagree three two one degree i don't know that was like a mix between both i think we both definitely share a leg i have to say there's two pants in a leg i feel like i have to say agree only because you agree guys i can say agree you're very like i think i'm just he makes the decisions i braille's personality is just like i trust you babe like she doesn't say babe i wish you did but anyway i trust you i trust you whatever you think like go for it that's like yeah she's like i'll support you i don't want to make the decisions but matt is the most indecisive person in the world so i feel like i've been forced my leg has been forced into the pants and i'm like i don't want i feel like we like flip-flop because like whenever you especially whenever he's struggles i'm like okay i'll do it and then like vice versa right and and i just think that like naturally he has more of this like leader personality and he he likes to do that like with anyone in his life so that's the only reason i'll say that okay so i guess our answer is agree okay that's a good one okay agree to disagree everyone needs to experience living in a tiny home three two one disagree okay really it's so cool though it's really cool but i don't think that everyone needs to experience it but okay the reason why i say agree because it it makes you appreciate the little things but it and also when you get into a big space it's gonna make you utilize every single space and or more appreciative of how much space you have is this new house gonna be like ten thousand square no what is it it livable square footage is uh 2200 okay oh man yeah so they're quadrupling exactly braille's like bro's like i don't feel like this is that big i said babe it's four tiny homes it's four when you just see the slab because right now all we have is litter the concrete slab looks small it looks tiny i'm like this is uh how is this gonna be this but is it two stories yeah it's two stories okay technically they call it one and a half because it's gonna be two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs but yes it's okay it's two story okay you know a lot more about building houses than we do i can't believe you're building your own house i'm so dude people say they're building a house they usually mean that they're having builders yeah that yeah no like i i want to be out there like running wire like i would love to i don't think i can legally like do the roof like the shingles and everything but like i would love to that was like one of the most relaxing parts of doing the tiny home was like putting the roof on the tiny home for me i don't know why what are the parts you like can't do electrical right you kind of oh we can uh because my like my uncle they did electrical in um his parents house because it got damaged yeah my uncle's like a licensed electrician so he just he just comes he kind of tells us like how to do it so yeah like we were able to do it ourselves pretty much everything but the roof then or foundation yeah the foundation we had to pay somebody for uh not for the tiny home we did ourselves braille did a phenomenal job with that great job um but uh and plumbing we don't we don't really touch plumbing that much but electrical i i love i i'm a nerd a little bit i love electrical stuff like building computers like yeah yeah that is such a good skill to have yeah i love yeah okay okay agree to disagree agree to disagree laughing kids made us lose part of ourselves three deep one okay i'll give you guys a second let me know when you're ready i'm ready three two one disagree disagree yeah i don't think so do you feel more fulfilled or i always knew i wanted this in life and um i would have people ask me like how do you know she's the one how do you this that and the other how do you know you want to have kids and i'm like there's something about you know i think it had a lot to do with obviously my family like growing up in a big family but i always knew i wanted to have kids as young as i could to have the most amount of my life with them and um i've always wanted to be a dad first you know and a husband um and then an entertainer after probably it's the only thing that i ever wanted to do in life was to be a mom like she says yeah that's all that's you know if you at yeah at five-year-old braille nine-year-old whatever what do you want to be and she said oh you know a mom and a wife so i think in ways it uh it brought us brought out things in me that i couldn't see next up is it's okay to clap when the plane lands agree to disagree just to switch gears for a second three two one agree why not do you guys do that not like that i mean um i don't think i've actually ever done it but i think it's funny when people do yeah like especially when it's like oh our plane trip back from disney was it was actually like one of the worst experiences Yeah, which airline do you guys fly to? We know Ice Spirit. And it was just like a really bad travel day. And so it was like, yeah, as soon as that plane landed, I mean, I can't. Oh, everybody was clapping. Oh, yeah. When we landed in Arizona after traveling with that king cake, two kids, two giant car seats, a mom and a sister and 10 bags. Oh, I was clapping. I was clapping. You're telling me, though, when you guys flew Spirit Airlines, they clapped when the plane landed? Oh, yeah. Everyone did? Oh, yeah. They just were happy to be alive. Yeah, they were happy. They were happy to be alive. Oh, my gosh, yeah. Hey, we've flown Spirit. No, probably because we were all literally drenched in sweat. Speaking of Spirit Airlines, you guys, we moved to Arizona flying Spirit Airlines. Oh, really? No way. Yes. Everything that we took with us was on that plane. Yes, and the rest was like in a U-Haul that got, like one of those like little box pods. Oh, that's right. Just in a box. We got it like shipped in a box because we like temporarily lived with my parents. That just had our wedding gifts essentially in it. Yeah, and then we flew out here through Spirit. So, RIP Spirit. spirit all right peace spirit thank you for your service soulmates are real agree to disagree three two one agree agree you guys think you're each other's soulmate oh 100 i can't wait to find her in the next life already like 100 yeah what if like she's a tree though like how would that work out you know it depends what i was if i'm a squirrel i'm living in that tree i mean shoot i'm so serious i'm so i want to make a really bad joke anyway i'm not i'm not oh gosh okay i want you so bad okay sorry okay agree to disagree it's a waste of time to make your bed every day agree to disagree three two one agree do you guys actually you guys don't make your bed i'm surprised sometimes in a tiny home i feel like no i do sometimes i just like when you actually really think about it it is it's what's the point i mean if we're making a video in the bedroom we'll make it that's true or people coming over yeah no we don't i mean it is pointless we really tried actually when we lived in a studio apartment we did make our bed every day because we had to tuck it up against the wall okay well we i think we did that makes sense we did too a little bit for that maybe i mean i don't know maybe not actually when you can't just shut the door to your bedroom so people can't see when you have to but now we have that some people say like it's a good way to start your day because it makes you like your stuff i do agree with that but i switched it to emptying out the dishwasher yeah there you go that's how more functional useful yeah agree to disagree the second child is easier than the first three two one i think disagree yeah i think disagree disagree oh so the second was harder i think for us it was a transition not just like not necessarily him like that child but like right the transition was harder um zalia was like the easiest baby ever like i mean she slept through the night at a week old oh my goodness yeah and that's so nice yeah um yeah and um yeah i think it was just yeah it's a lot more than we thought it would be dealing with the both of them yeah god like he's the chillest baby ever and they're so chill like he's a good baby like he wakes up throughout the middle of the night he just has yeah there's different things but it's really just like dealing with both of them yeah together all at the same time and then with each other and then also working from home like it's yeah it gets a lot more there's more variables exactly i meant to ask you being pregnant twice but also you said that you've experienced health anxiety was pregnancy like a trip then and then birth yeah it's weird because whenever i was pregnant with zalia i that was obviously i didn't know what to do i mean we've seen the test and i was like oh i have to go to the doctor and we have like a family um friend nurse practitioner and i just like texted her and i was like what do i do and she was like you need to go get an ultrasound i was like okay and it was just that's it was so weird i remember feeling like so anxious but then for the second one i feel like i don't mean to cut you off but just to add to what you were saying i feel like for the second one she wasn't as anxious and there was so much more reason to be yeah it's just i'd never done it before but i think that what calmed me in that was knowing that so many people do that and i had so like his family like i think that growing up my like i said my mom had a lot of medical issues so it made me view anything like that doctors hospitals as like a really bad thing because i was like oh my god i'm gonna die i'm gonna die i'm gonna die i'm gonna die because like all i've seen was bad things with it and i think that that was the only thing that felt good because i was pregnant you know like we were gonna have a baby and it made me kind of like flip that and be like oh okay like good things come out of going to the doctor you know because like growing up like i my parents didn't even take me to like checkups like i didn't have that just normal doctor life but um yeah the second pregnancy was more towards the end i was way more anxious than the first why do you think that was so i hemorrhaged with my daughter after birth and i didn't even know that was a thing that could happen so it kind of threw me for a loop um but it got kind of they fixed it very quickly i just had like the shot in my leg they didn't have to do i think they only did one to stop the bleeding right was that one shot yeah um so they figured it out and it ended up being fine but i think that i was very nervous it was going to happen again because i learned more about it and i had um i was anemic during um the pregnancy yes with zalia and we found out like i think i was like 22 weeks so i started taking iron and then like i remember asking my doctor i'm like is that why and she's like we don't really know exactly why but like that could go in hand with like why women hemorrhage and for lear they didn't test my iron until i was like 20 no you're just a diabetes test yeah 30 something weeks no i literally was 35 weeks really and she tells me i'm anemic and i was like i knew that from the first pregnancy so she made sure to get like vitamins with iron in it and like kind of yeah i was trying to like prepare more and they didn't test me until later and so i was like great so i started taking the iron pearls and come to find out it takes like two to three weeks to actually absorb your body and so i was just i don't know i just felt it i felt very anxious the whole end of it and then uh the birth yeah the birth experience for a lyric was uh it was a rough birth it was um it was the most scariest thing i think i've ever seen in my life oh goodness he wouldn't tell me that though what happened so she wound up hemorrhaging and they said that and i and i was like um and her doctor wasn't there they have like a resident literally both times i gave birth was at the same time it was literally around 2 a.m and my doctor just like wasn't at the hospital and so that obviously causes like anxiety like you know what a couple minutes right before she didn't yeah she didn't deliver to zalia but she was in the room she was there so she knew all the history and everything and she gave her the shot yeah her doctor wasn't even there at all this time and i watched him give brielle a shot but i remember vividly like from zalia's like the shot was huge for zalia that they gave her and this one was like a little and so next thing you know you know she gets the epidural out like all this kind of stuff well i remember sitting there whenever my son was like on my chest and i remember um all of a sudden i got this wave of like my like the inside of my body felt cold and like i was like okay i'm tired like i've literally been up for like 24 hours like i just gave birth like i'm tired so i didn't say anything and i just laid there i'm tired um you hold him and then you're holding him and they come in and they're like son for the first time yeah and they come in and they say okay like we're about to move you to a room but you had to go try to use the bathroom first whatever and she's like oh they like you think you can stand up you're good and braille's like i mean i guess so they're like i mean are you okay and she's like i guess yeah i mean i guess like i mean i'm tired like i just had a child just pushed out you know and so they start walking her to the bathroom and i'm still holding my son like i'm thinking like they're fine and i just hear them say oh my god call what i don't remember what they called said to be honest they were like call so-and-so whatever and it's like what like what's happening with my wife like in the back like what and so i'm like was my sister there still yeah yeah so i just gave my son like a lyric to my sister and i was like here and like i go in the bathroom and i just do do i do what you did yeah i don't care okay i just seen my wife like this passed out on the toilet but i didn't know my eyes were open and and it was the scariest thing and i'm just like and i'm just like and i'm talking like too i'm like and i'm just i'm staying calm because i'm like if this was to happen she's in the best place i'm like i'm like it's okay you're okay you know she's like she's out of it and um and then they like they're getting alcohol and like they're they're whatever and like the nurse is freaking out the other one ran out the room to go get somebody whatever they brought the anesthesiologist back yes and the anesthesia you could tell she gave me upset and she gave blood pressure medicine some kind of shot whatever and then she bro came too and she's like and this is how amazing braille is the first thing she says when she wakes up she goes i'm so sorry i didn't mean to or whatever i thought i fell asleep yeah while trying no i swear i thought i was they were trying to get me to like pee after that don't be sorry don't be sorry i thought i just fell asleep on them so like i guess i woke up and i thought like dang i really just fell asleep i'm so sorry i didn't mean to do that i was like but i woke up to them like i the alcohol in my nose and then and then i remember i said i'm sorry and they're like no you're okay you're okay and then i'm i was like how long was i out and they were like just a minute just a minute and then i just remember the nurse on my right was asking the nurse on my left if she was okay yeah and i was like she was freaking out and then i look up and i see him kind of looking through the door and then i see the anesthesiologist and she's like yeah her face is literally white yeah she's like she's like her face is white as a wall like i don't know why y'all would put her to like bring her to the bathroom right now they ended up having to give me a blood transfusion and she lost a whole bag of blood a liter a liter of blood so i'm glad that you are here and breathing and everything works out yeah and that you have your babies yes oh my gosh it sounds like a terrifying yeah hey but you're like more babies yeah yeah yeah she said she said definitely wait she's like carson can we wait till uh he's at least three this time two and a half because i make jokes the whole time he's like i'm ready for another and i'm like no you're gonna have to give me a moment yeah like she's like you're asking your mom i'm not even here yet and i'm like i'm already ready to come back and she's like carson i see still on my stomach stop and i'm just like you guys while i was in labor you kept saying that i know we got a tiktok dance to get to so yeah let's let me wrap it up two more and then i think i think carson that might be the oh oh yeah yeah oh yeah so i'm lucky you wanted to have a turn competition with you no way yeah wait we should totally do that let's do it should we make a little video out of that oh yeah let's do it let's do it okay next we have uh agree to disagree we got married too young three two one disagree disagree i wanted to get married younger really yes what what is he wanted to have kids and then get married i did actually yeah no way i did i did but that kind of goes back to wait to marriage though if you think about it i know yeah yeah that wouldn't make sense but yeah no okay okay in my ideal head like like growing up i thought okay i would i would i'm gonna get with you know brielle we're gonna have a house or apartment whatever we're gonna have a daughter first i swear like this is like all in my head like what i envisioned for whatever reason then we'll get married and our little daughter will be like the little flower girl that's what i always thought why did you think of having kids before getting married was there somebody that like modeled that for you or did you just like the idea of having your daughter be a flower girl at the wedding no um i don't know i think i was more so ready to be a like or wanted to be a dad than like a husband like a husband kind of to me was just like a title i guess maybe i don't know i don't know that's a good question like looking back on it because yeah i kind of forgot i mean yeah you know what i mean i feel like i feel like that anymore no yeah not anymore but i did say that at one point yeah i didn't want to have kids first and this is really funny i guess to be fair to be fair i did not know how kids were made at for a very long time my mom told me my mom told me that like literally up until i was like oh god i was old i was like 14 probably 15. you didn't know no no no literally my mom just said oh you just pray for a baby and i was like oh okay and in my head logically i'm like i'm like you're like why do i have all these feelings mom yeah no i was like logically i'm trying to think i'm like okay so maybe when like people kiss like the spit accidentally gets in like each other's mouth and like that's how it works i swear that's really like what my brain thought and then you just pray to god and like okay then then she gets pregnant that's i like literally thought that um it's whoever gets the baby jesus yes exactly actually that's what it is yeah whoever gets a baby yeah um yeah so i don't know that's hilarious that is really yeah and last one wait i literally it was in my head oh yes i i just made this one up this is just for fun there we go agree to disagree nice like it's cool to us you know that mud color yeah yeah in new orleans it's it's the complete opposite it's bright colors everywhere like houses are painted pink green like you name it there's a house somewhere purple on pink houses that's oh yeah yeah yeah like like it's a fun little thing like my daughter like we have like a little like e-bike and she's like i want to go look at pink houses
