Waarom Overwaarde Opnemen Niet Altijd De Slimste Zet Is - Financieel Verlangen Show

The transcription is a collection of radio segments and podcast promotions. It opens with ads for several new podcasts: "Podlandia A.O. Rewatch" by the "Portlandia" stars, "Delivering Happiness" with Nick Turturro, "You're the Problem With Yamanika," "Our Town," and "Burden of Guilt" season three. The main content is from the "Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning" radio show. The hosts discuss a recent radio convention they attended, where an overly enthusiastic fan paid to join and even won free tickets to next year's event. They then play a musical trivia game called "Name That Tune" to celebrate Annie Oakley's birthday, with questions about famous musicals like "Wicked," "Newsies," "The Phantom of the Opera," "The Sound of Music," "The Book of Mormon," "Grease," and "Beauty and the Beast." Alexis wins and chooses to shock Jeff while he sings "Grease Lightning." The show also previews the upcoming pumpkin spice season, listing key dates and products. Finally, "Lager Stories" features bizarre news: a woman arrested for DUI in her new Rolls Royce, an Uber Eats driver who boosts tips by showing her feet in photos, and a new Universal Studios roller coaster that's causing noise complaints from neighbors due to riders' screams. The tone is humorous and casual, typical of morning radio banter.

Hey, Portlandia fans. Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armason here. The Dream of the 90s is alive in podcast form. We're launching Podlandia A.O. Rewatch, our brand new podcast where we revisit every episode of "Portlandia" together, breaking down sketches, going deep on our iconic characters, and pulling back the curtain on how it all got made. And we'll also be joined by the people who helped bring it all to life. Guest stars, collaborators, and friends, including director Jonathan Chrysel, the mayor himself, Kyle McGlocklin, legendary musician Amy Mann, and many more. Kyle is going for it here. You fully improvise not just words, but a song about it. I thought you were all going to write a song. I remember you thinking that. Listen to Podlandia, A.O. Rewatch, on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Nick Tutorial. You probably know me from NYPD Blue, the longest shot, or Spike Lee's Black Plansman. And on my new podcast, "Delivering Happiness with Nick Tutorial," I deliver pizza to a new guest. I've shared a slice with everyone from Seth Rollins, where you're doing my belt, to Bill Burr. I don't think I've ever met somebody so exactly out of their mind as I am. And now, we even have more great guests coming up, including the great John Tutorial. This goes happiness, delivering happiness, and many, many more. Open your free iHeart Radio app, search "Delivering Happiness with Nick Tutorial." And listen now. This is Chelsea Hamler from Dear Chelsea. Every week, the news gets worse. The world gets crazier. And Yamanika is here to tell whoever's responsible, you're the problem. Listen to "You're the Problem With Yamanika" on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Developers with right wing ties have purchased hundreds of acres of land. We need cities on a shining hill. This is our town. A podcast about what happens when a small town becomes the site of a social experiment and fights back. I guess you didn't move in on a bunch of dumb hillbillies now, did you? Listen to our town on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Nancy Glass, host of the "Birden of Guild" season three podcast. This is a story about a horrendous situation that destroyed two families. It's a scorched earth war that shows just how far someone will go to get what they want. Cindy said I had to choose between the truth and my family, and I had to choose the truth. Listen to season three of "Birden of Guild" on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Full show here we come. Woohoo! I feel like we need like a train horn there. Like a bird or something. Ready? I got a really good train whistle. Are you ready? [Birden of Guild] That's pretty good, right? I should look shocked. It was a whistle. It's like you haven't whistle at the same time. I've been perfecting it since eighth grade. Oh, you're so cool. Wow. Wow. My English teacher at my junior year would always call me whenever there was a train and a book. I can't believe no boys would kiss that. That's the exact rose I was going to say. Thank you. Wow. It is shocking. Shout out to Mr. Hanson. Okay. I love him. Okay. All right. We're going to do a full show. We got a brand new wayzer stories. We do have some classics mixed in. No. Bear with us. Have some fun. Some good attitudes. And maybe you'll get another train whistle. But before then, we got comments. Yes. Stephen White said the surgery talk. The last title about boob jobs. Oh. I was convinced they were Easter eggs that Alexis got in plan. Hey. I'm such a good spiritist. Yes. Because I had surgery this week. Yeah, we did that. Yeah, you know. Yeah, your surgery wasn't fun surgery. Yeah, I can't say if you saw me, it would look like I got them done. No. Unfortunately, sorry to disappoint you. Just got away for the next new video. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Keep watching our YouTube till you see them grow in. There you go. Someday Alexis. Someday. All right. Yeah. You too is at Brookage every and your full hour show starts right now. Only in radio can you go to an official event with the biggest names and personalities in the business. Yeah. And a crazed possibly unstable fan is allowed to pay to be there with them. It is honestly like it was like an industry conference. Yeah. It was and there was a zero security. It was not a fan thing. Brookage every in the morning because if you didn't know our entire show just flew out to attend this national radio convention. Yeah. For people who work in radio. Yeah. I think it's like every industry has conventions. Yeah. I would never go to like the. Exactly. Yeah. So yeah. So you can meet other radio personalities, the executives, you rub elbows and whoever is in charge let some random unhinged listener pay. So he could show up and not just show up sitting on the presentations. Yeah. Get up on stage and pitch ideas to the other radio people. You know the listener. Yeah. Yeah. This is everyone listening. You guys want to pitch his phone to have ideas. Frank my people. This would have been it. Send an email though. Yeah. Don't fly out to the radio convention. I'm sorry. You were hating on him but he showed up with Pringles in the morning. I didn't. And. And Oreos he tried to throw non sponsored parties inside his hotel room where he invited Alexis. I spent way too much time talking to this man. I think he was important. Yeah. Yeah. He couldn't even lure Alexis with a bottle of peach snacks. I mean, she did. He was trying to happen in the film industry. Does it happen in TV? No. Only in radio. You know what? With this occur. Because we respect our list. Yeah. Oh sure. Can we get that sent to you? Yeah. That's what happened. I mean, it was like $500 per person. Yeah. Like our company paid for us to go, which is typically what happened. Well, he's not going to have to pay $500 again. Because he won free tickets to next year's convention when he won that dumb game show. How did he even get picked to go on stage? I didn't know I did. Look, I knew this wasn't going to be total. I knew it wasn't going to be totally legit when they made Brooke a featured guest speaker at it. Wow. Just when you think you've lost all respect for this industry. Yeah. I loved it, Jeff. It was the highlight of it. He was the highlight. Honestly. More people knew who he was than we did. Yeah, I know. He was popular. And he gave me more talking points in like uncomfortable small talk conversations than the weather ever has. And he was so nice to me. I was saying, you better be scared. He may be replacing us soon. The bar has been lowered to a whole new level. And we're going to stoop even lower than that and do the shot color question of the day. I mean, what's not respectable about strapping a dog collar on your neck and shocking each other all morning long? We're the epitome of class. It just this idea. Yeah. Am I right? Jake. You're right. Saddle up and holster those six shooters because today we're celebrating the birthday of an all the American full-carrow Annie Oakley. Oh, look at the light. She starred in Buffalo Bills Wild West show and could shoot the wings off a fly while wearing a blindfold and chugging a bottle of moon. That's right. But Annie wasn't just a root-toot and gunsling and batty. She also became the focus of a very popular musical called Annie Get Your Gun. Yeah. I didn't see that one. So today we're going to immortalize Annie's epic rise to Broadway fame with a special name that musical edition of. Foo-entie of 20. Yeah. We'll go around the room and I'll give you some hints about a famous musical or play and you just have to name it correctly to stay in the game. Do you have to sing it since it's a musical? I would please. Please don't. Okay. We'll start with a woman who's less into sharp shooters and more into vodka pineapple shooters. Yeah. That's Alexis. I killed a pineapple, but it's fine. Oh my god. She did order that. Alexis, you're not permitted any help in the rest of the room. Okay. On this question, this musical was based on the 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire called Wicked. What musical is it? Wicked. It was a same thing. Why would you name the book? Is it a trick question? I think it is a trick. I feel like it's a trick. No, it's a deal. Based off the novel Wicked, Alexis said Wicked, that is. You okay, God. You jerk, Jake. I was overthinking that. Oh, like we. We're one for one. We're over to Brooke. Yeah. I think it's a Disney tried their hand and were successful launching this play after the movie came out in 1992. Oh, you know. Go ahead. The Lion King. That's incorrect. What? What? Would you like me to finish the question? Okay, baby. Wow. I'll finish the question for you, Brooke. It may or may not have been inspired by real life events that took place in 1899. Oh, I know. Then you lived at the baby. I know. Would you like to answer? Yeah. It's music. Oh, Brooke did like jazz hands while she was a dad. I love music. I think every song. We all remember you telling us that when you turned 50. You got all hot for the boys and they're cuffed to play at Nickers. I'm not 50. Jeff, don't do that. You're coming hot today. So the Newsy's movie musical came out in 1992 and then the play happened after about the real life newsboy strike back in the 1899. I thought you were going to say mighty ducks in musical. Before two for two, we're over the Jose. Let's go. Jose, this play was based on a French novel in an open to 1988. It made headlines when it closed in 2023 making it the longest running musical on Broadway you've ever. I know this one. Okay. - Lead, Mizorab is. (buzzer) - Incorrect, Jose, different French novel. I'm looking for the phantom of the opera. - Oh, you're the favorite one. - You're favorite, it's all. - We're over to Jeffrey now. - Okay. - Jeffrey, this famous musical opened in 1959 and it closed in 1963, just four years. It was so popular that an unforgettable movie was made from it, but be careful because it could be a trap. What was it? - Oh, I know. - It's so popular, but it only ran for four years. - The movie was way more popular. - If you need to suggest, you'll not have one for all you company, Mizorab. - Oh, you sure. - Well, extremely popular musical turned movie, give me cat. - Oh, is that it? - Cats. - Incorrect. - Oh, I've been playing for way longer than four years. - I think trap was the key word there. - Yeah, I said trap trap. (laughing) - There's no trap trap. - Thinking of the Von Trapp family singers in the sound of music. - Oh, you're game of the Nazi question. Cool. - Oh, yeah, very fun. - I don't do this on purpose. - Sure you don't, Jake. - Von Trapp's were famously not Nazis. (laughing) - Let's go over to Alexis now. Alexis, this play open on Broadway in 2011 is still going strong for its satirical examination of religious beliefs. - Oh, the Book of Mormon. - The Book of Mormon is correct. All right, brother. - All right, let's take her down. - This musical is set at fictional Rydell High in 1959. - Grace. - Grace. - Oh, I was just being serious. - All right, we're on to Sudden Death now. Alexis, it's up to you. You get this right. You win, you get it wrong and broke wins. This musical was adapted by Walt Disney Pictures and it became an Academy Award winning 1991 animated musical film. - Oh, I don't know. One of their Disney plays. There's Mary Poppins as a Disney play. That's old though. There's Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast. - I'm rooting for you. - Beauty and the Beast. - Oh no. - It's correct. That means no Lexus has won today's edition of. - Oh, that is so wrong. - Oh, Wendy of 20. - Oh my God. - She's the most musical person on the show, right? - I'm your new dad. - I'm your new dad. - And so she gets to choose who gets shocked while singing "Greese Lightning" from the play group. - I mean, Jeff, you should know music. - Yes, I know. - I know. - It was a little bit of a disappointment. - All right, if I have to showcase my abilities, I will. - Yeah. - Yeah. ♪ Go grease, Latin in your burning up the quarter mile ♪ ♪ Greese Lightning, go grease, Latin in ♪ ♪ Go grease, Latin in your cousin ♪ ♪ Do the heat laugh, try ♪ - Oh, man. - Oh, good. - You see man a while. - You want supreme? - Yeah. - That's what it is. It's "Brook and Jeffrey in the morning." - It's hot. - It means we're literally a week away from pumpkin spice season. - Hey! - Hey! - Dude, I'm not ready? Well, it's coming whether you're ready for it or not. So there's a few dates you should definitely know. August 19th. - I've heard of it. - "Duncan's Fall Menu" arrives. - Oh, man. - Along with their pumpkin spice latte release, Starbucks follows a week after that on August 25th with their PSL rollout and other pumpkin spice items. And this just in, Dave's killer bread. For the first time in seven years is bringing back their pumpkin spice bagel. - They're all here. - Oh, man. - They're all here in the red. - Yeah, the spice bagels, okay. - And I have a good idea why they're doing that because pumpkin spice products in America bring in annual sales of $1.25 billion. - That's a lot of bagels and coffee sold. - Dang, I didn't realize you were that big. - I could turn you a large amount. - Yeah, that's it. - Is there any way to turn this show pumpkin spice-esque? Like, can we get in this billion dollar bandwagon? - Yeah. - Alexis, you're in charge of that, okay? Pumpkin spice effigies. - He's already working with her self-tanner. - To make it. - Yeah. - You know those little pretzels in a bag called flips with a Z. - Oh, yeah. - Oh, yeah. - They usually do yogurt covered pretzels, but this year, they're doing a mashup with Duncan called pumpkin spice donut covered pretzels. - Oh, my gosh. - You can see the photo of it up on our Insta Stories. - Oh, man. - That's gonna be so good. Yeah, pumpkin spice donut. Duncan does that too, I think. - He's a little baggy. - With fall leaves on it. - Yeah, it's all happening. - They're not dreaming pumpkin spice season is almost not. - Yeah. - Jeff, we never asked you, do you like pumpkin spice? If you've ever wondered why mosquitoes ignore some people and completely swarm others, researchers may have found part of the answer. Because a study was done with over a hundred adults and three different mosquito species. If the answer to this isn't your two sweet, then I just won't believe it. Well, they found that each type of mosquito liked people differently. Oh, wow. They're picky, huh? So if one person was attractive to a certain species, it didn't necessarily mean other mosquitoes were also lining up for a bite. Maybe the mosquitoes have their own love language. Yeah, they're discriminatory. Yeah. Racist mosquitoes. The study also found that it's our skin bacteria and the chemicals we naturally release that make mosquitoes like us the most. But researchers are hopeful this could help develop more targeted mosquito repellents in the future instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. I always get bit. Because a bride is getting a lot of heat right now. Oh, Zilla. Okay. Thanks to what she did leading up to her big day. Okay. So let me tell you about it. In afterwards we can decide she's Zilla or no Zilla. Her name is Nova Styles, which already makes me lean towards Zilla. Yeah. Immediately. But she and her fiancee had their heart set on a dream New York City wedding. That's funny. I can think is how much that must cost just a mere 150,000 dollars. Oh my god. I just have a little bit of a mouth. They wanted to do the ceremony at the world famous St. Patrick's Cathedral. Then the guests would board a big party bus to cruise around for photos at all the famous New York landmarks. Oh, finally. And finally they would end the night with a big party at the one world trade center with lobster and steak dinners. Oh, it's amazing. Dude, I want to be a guest. I want to be a tourist. Yeah. Sounds awesome. But again, pricey. Yeah. That's why the bride got creative and decided the smart thing to do here was sell tickets to the wedding. Charging family and friends. $333 per person if they want to do a 10. But they also had to pay their own travel costs and everything. This was just the event. Yeah, that's just to get through the doors of the cathedral. Now was she going through ticket master and did we also have to pay a hundred dollar ticket fee. Good point, bro. Why wouldn't they willing to be do the same thing for the ones that they love the most? You're not Taylor Swift or Beyonce. Yeah, but they like it's your best friend. I would buy the ticket. Sounds pretty reasonable to me. If my best friend said I'm gonna charge you a ticket, if it's your best friend, yeah. I mean, I would talk crack, crap behind her back probably. Yeah, a little bit. And crack too. So Nova and her fiance sent out 350 ticket invitations, and they sold 60 tickets. (laughing) In the comedy where we say you're not a draw. Yeah, so that's a TikTok to share her ID. (cheering) I mean, it's so weird because it really is not a bad value. I know. All the way you listed. So what do we think? Zilla or no Zilla for this bride? I mean, was she happy at the end of her with her decision? Did she waste in the TikTok mat or where? Did she hate people? Yeah. Like if she was mad that people didn't buy tickets in Zilla, but if she was cool that only 60 people came, yeah, no Zilla. Hey, maybe I was a strat. Maybe she's like, look, we have 500 people. Let's just get it down to 50. It is a good way to get out of it. She had only got it down to 50. Honestly. All right, so you definitely hear in haters who are obviously jealous of her and her idea. But it's not necessarily the cringiest thing a bride or groom has ever done for their wedding day. And I know that because we found a survey where people share the biggest nightmare bride and groom stories that they ever encounter. I wonder if my friends are on it. Alexis is the one showing out the survey. This entire list is off of Alexis's Facebook page. So here we go. It's going to be good. This first one said, I went to a wedding where the groom had a dip of tobacco in during the ceremony. Drinking. His groom's cake was designed to look like a can of Copenhagen. There was a literal gold spatoon at the altar. No. Because the bride thought it would make his habit look classier. Yeah. You're a new kid. Your first kiss is with a big dip in the. I don't know. And if you got a cute, if it's like, all right, and to say I do make it ding. BEEP! [LAUGHTER] It was a pride. I like it. So great. Next one, the bride and groom chose to sing their vows to each other. Oh my god. I hate-- No. Hold on. Not-- Singing vows, I can't stand. Oh, I love singing vows. Oh, I see. Neither one had a good singing voice. So they knew that, and they both used auto-tuned microphones. [LAUGHTER] No. They got to the chorus, which they had written together, and expected the guests to join in and sing along with them. Oh my god. The singing lasted for literally 20 minutes. Oh my god. 20 minutes. Second dude. Oh no. I want to see video of that wedding so bad. What's the breaking? Yeah. We're looking at a survey of the cringiest things, the brides and grooms have ever done at their own weddings. This one says, "Weirdest wedding I went to was where the brides' parents were ridiculously conservative." Oh boy. So conservative that for the party they made super edited versions of each song the DJ played, including bleeping out the word "shots" from the song "Shots" by LMFAO. What else is said in that song? I know it sounds weird, but before we judge, let's hear what a believed-shot song would sound. I love that we did it. [MUSIC] Oh damn. I would get down to that beat. Oh man, imagine not knowing the song. Are they singing? Yeah. That's a good time. What a bar they sing. Oh my god. Next one, I went to a wedding where the father of the groom had a heart attack during the after party. The bride threw a gigantic fit and wouldn't let the groom leave to go to the hospital with his father. Oh my god. Instead, she insisted the wedding go on so it didn't ruin her big night. I will divorce you right now. I mean, could he have timed his heart attack better? You know what I mean? Maybe he just wanted out of there. I know. At least have a medical emergency outside. He was probably having a panic attack because his son was getting married to that wedding. And finally, this one says, "I went to a wedding where the pastor used to date the bride and started gushing about how wonderful she was." He told the groom if he ever died unexpectedly, not to worry because he would take care of her. And the most insane part was how cool the groom looked during the entire thing. Oh god. People are so weird. But it would be picking an inefficient is important, right? You want someone close to you. Maybe not that close. You can't do anything if they go off-script. You know I was picking my predecessor. Those were the cringiest bride and groom stories from their own wedding night. Your phone taps coming up. Next. Good morning. In today's prank, we call a woman whose elderly mother has an in-home care provider who checks in on her and her parrot from time to time. And that person had to go on vacation for a week which gave us the perfect opportunity to provide a trust in fill in for her. Someone who will be responsible, positive and wreak a little bit of havoc. And that person has a good time. Hello. Hi, I'm looking for Regina T-R. This is Regina. This calling. Oh, good morning. My name's Bobby Titsworth. I'm filling in as your mom's in-home caregiver this week. Oh, okay. Hi. I'm the new guy. Just a fill in, I guess. First of all, I just wanted to say, your mother is a wonderful woman. I'm sure you know this. Oh, that's great to hear. Yeah, everybody loves her. Oh, everybody, huh? I thought she was more of an acquired taste. What? I digress. The reason for my call is I'm pretty sure she ate her parrot. Wait, what? What are you talking about? Yeah, I've been looking around her place. Oh, my dick. There it is. False alarm. I found him behind the microwave. Oh, my god. There you are, nibbles. Get over here. Oh, he does nibble. Oh, he's having scares there. I thought that really happened. Yeah, sorry. I saw some feathers on one of your mom's dinner plates. And I thought, oh, yeah, I shouldn't have been late today, huh? Do you really scared me there? You and me both. So anyway, I know I'm only here for a week, but I feel like I do need to bring something else to your attention while I have you on the phone. Okay, something worse than my mom ate the parrot. I don't know. You be the judge. Oh, I'm pretty sure I caught your mom trying to teach nibbles things she shouldn't be teaching a bird. Wait, what are you talking about? What do you mean? I'll give you an example. Things like, uh, hey, big boy. What? And yeah, and like, what was the other like, uh, nice legs and those shorts? Wow. Look, my mom would never ever say things like that. Wait, so you've never heard that before? No, my mom, that's not how she is. I mean, I know she seems so sweet and innocent, but I saw this yesterday. She was training nibbles to cat call the UPS guy. No. Yeah, he was so shocked. He dropped his package. He did not. He did and then nibble squeak. And over and get a gorgeous breath. That's what it tells. Okay, this is, I don't know what it's happening here. You're supposed to take care of her well-being. Man, I think you're confused here. I was a witness to the sexual exploitation of a male carrier. Oh, my God. I'm a victim. I'm trying to help everybody. You're not helping this situation. I don't know what you want me to do. I've never heard anything like this before. I don't know. I just want to give you a heads up. I'm just going to give you a heads up. Who did this? Your sister Shannon set you up. Oh my god. Oh God. She said your mom's caregiver is taking a week off and you're all worried about it. I'm sure you'd find. Oh my god. As long as you keep that parrot in line. I'm gonna count. Oh my god. He's the microwave himself. He's crawling in. I'm so excited. This is a bad parrot. Bad parrot. I'm telling you, I got a bad feeling about this bird. So can Jeffrey's phone taps on the 20s. Through a con Jeffrey in the morning. We have reached a special mile. milestone on the show. (laughing) - You suck! - You hear that Chris? That means you have a chance. - Oh, I like those odds. - Yeah, I like those odds. - Welcome, congratulations on being the 1,000th second date. - Thanks. (laughing) - Wow, Chris, I was expecting more fireworks, more congratulations. - I think that after 1,000 of these, we would have a better percentage of people saying yes. - No, not at all. I feel like it's getting worse since the years go by. - We're caring less and less about this. - I still care, I just keep getting it wrong. - Well, yeah. - Because it's our 1,000th, we promise to care extra hard for you today, Chris. - Okay. - So tell us about the woman that you want us to call. What's her name? - Crazy. - Well, her name is Amanda, and I'm hoping that this results in a big 1,000th for you guys. - Okay. - I'm hoping she's more excited about being part of the 1,000th than you were. (laughing) - You wanna try again, you're excited? - I'm kidding. - Okay. Yeah. - All right. - All right. - There it is. - That's right, Chris. - I feel good going into this. - Tell us about how you met Amanda. - Well, we met online, and all the normal stuff, good. Like, it was really pretty, we chatted a lot. I was super excited to go out on a date with her and everything, but that's where we ran into the first little roadblock. - Uh-oh. - Her schedule was really, really tight. - Oh, okay. - I work as a nurse, and the only day she was available would have been right at the end of a 35-hour shift. - Oh. - Oh my god. - Right, is that not illegal? - Yeah. - I'm curious. - Yeah, no, like, it should be illegal. Probably should pay a lot more. - Right, but we'll get into that on a separate call. - Yeah. - Go on the date after your long shift. - I did. - Wow. - I needed, well, if it wasn't for this chance, there wasn't gonna be another chance. - And how did it go? I didn't fall asleep. - All right. - That's a very complicated one. - You know, most people, when they say, I didn't fall asleep on a date, that wouldn't be a huge victory, but for Chris, that's a big win. - We were, she wasn't pressed too. - Yeah. - I mean, I imagine you're so tired that you're not even nervous when you're, like, what'd you guys do? - Yeah. - Go to drinks. - Yeah, we went for drinks, and the thing is, I didn't tell her that it was going to be at the end of a 35 hour shift. - Right. - Oh, why not? - If I didn't want her to worry about that. - Yeah, I was gonna, honestly, think about it from her angle. If someone said, I'm at the end of the, I would be like, do not go out with me. You need to sleep. There's no way I'm gonna go, so I can see why you guys are getting there. - No, I feel like, thanks for making time. Do it. - You've got to do it. (laughing) - Yeah, Alexis is saying. - Okay, so how did it go? - It started out great. - Ordered a couple of martinis, talked about our lives, talked about our dogs, we both have dogs, this we were vibing on a bunch of stuff. I mean, everything was going awesome, and then she was like, hey, I need to go to the restroom real quick. I waited a while, and she just never came back. - Oh, no. - Oh, no. - She ditched you? - This is why I never let women go to the restroom. I'm just like, you have to wait. - Yeah, that's cute. - That's why you go after we're done. - Yeah. he on you Jeff. - No, let's focus. So, did you never came back? - No, well, she sort of came back 'cause after a while, I'm like, I asked the bartender, I'm like, "Hey, have you seen this girl I was with?" And he's like, "Yeah, yeah, no, I totally saw her." She left a 20 on the bar and left. - Oh, no, that's confirmation. - Dude, did you text her? I'd be so, I mean, you probably were so tired that you couldn't even must have anger, but. - Or maybe you were so tired, like the date actually went through and ended and you just don't realize that. - You don't remember the end of it? She's like, "We kissed and everything. What do you mean?" - What's the last thing that you do remember about the end of the day? How did it end? - Her leaving, me just standing there and being like, "Hey, this really just happened at the end of a 35-hour shift." And then I went home and slept for 12 hours. - Oh, my God. - Did you like call her and read her the riot act? Like, where were you emotionally? - I mean, I'm just generally not that angry of a guy 'cause all I've been running through my head is like, maybe I came across as a little more out of it than I thought. Maybe something weird slipped out of my mouth, but I can't imagine. - Like a piece of broccoli came out of your mouth. - Like a word. - That makes sense, bro, because again, if you're on a date and someone's like yawning and they're exhausted, you make me feel like you're boring. - You would ditch a mo. - Yeah. - Yeah. - You have to do something bad. - Yeah. - Why do you want to call her again? Why would you want to see her? - Well, I wanted to date in the first place, right? So all that stuff is still kind of there. And this is what she did that's pretty harsh, but listen, you're guys 1,000, I don't want this to be another like Ellen McCollum. (laughing) - Hey, where you used to be in the loser bracket? It's fine. - Don't worry. - Even if she doesn't want to go out again, like nothing like this has ever happened to me before, I'm just, I need to know why. - Yeah, it's pretty sure, okay. - You're looking mainly for the reason, even if it doesn't work out. - Yeah. - But we do want to send you on another day, and we're gonna like really press the fact that you're an amazing healthcare worker. - Yeah. - And she's gonna feel so guilty when she finds out that you would just finish a 35 hour shift, and she ditched you. - Or do you still not want her to know that? I mean, it's not that I don't want her to know, but I also don't want her to just say yes to another date out of pity. - Well, I do. I want her to be a good girl. - She should have been a good girl. - I want to guilt trip her until she says yes. That's maybe that's just the Jewishness in me. (laughing) - But it was swear it works. - And the scare out again, and then you can ditch her. - And then it's our thousandth. - Yeah, remember, look, remember our record, we have 940 losses. We need one in the win column by whatever means next. - You think you're desperate. - All right, pity date, come up. - That's great. - On our 1,000 second date update. - Man, that sounds good. - Thanks guys. (laughing) - Broken Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. - Out of all the human emotions, excitement, fear, joy, none are stronger and more powerful than pity. (laughing) - I didn't say it coming either. - Why do you think I work with Brooke? - Oh, Brooke. - Because I'm the only person here. - No, I'm the only way, I'm the only dummy that would work with you. - Well, you can make sure there's a lot of love and respect between us, but deep down at the New Gide Center of this work relationship is a heaping delicious nugget of pity. - Of pity. - Of pity. - For what you, you've only worked here your whole life. It's very sad. - Oh, yeah. - Oh, geez. - See, look at the bonds that are happening here. The joy that's coming out of this moment. - It was your first job, was it? - I still feel about you too, Jack. - Where? - Where? - Let's harness. - Let's harness the pity in the room. - You can. - And add in a little guilt to help our listener, Chris, get a second date with Amanda. - Okay. - With you, we've got the king of pity ready to take it on for you, Chris. 'Cause if you're just tuning in, he met her after working a 35 hour shift at the hospital where he's a nurse. - God, I love how we complain that we're tired I feel like six hours. - I know, for a guy's a saint. - This guy is a saint. - You. - Chris, you're still awake, right? - Yeah. - You're right. - You're in off of a long shift, did you? - No, no, today is an off day. - Oh, nice. - This is the off day, you? - Yeah. - All right. - Sounds like an off day. - Can you imagine what he's on? - I know, I'm saying. - All right. - He saves it for his patience. - Okay, well, we're gonna save all of your energy until we call you into the conversation. And I'll try my best to be nice 'cause right now I am not happy with her. - Oh. - I appreciate this 'cause I just, I need to know why. - Let's get there, we'll find your why. I don't know, I feel very. (laughing) - Okay, let's go. - I like that attitude. - We'll get right now. - Let's make the 1,000 second date phone call. Hopefully, end it on a good note. Here we go. (phone ringing) - Hello. - Hmm. (laughing) - Right off the bat, the judgment. - I'm gonna say anything. - Hi, Amanda. - Hey, Amanda. Is this Amanda? - Is this, is this she? - Hi. - You may or may not know us, but we are a morning radio show. We're called Brook and Jeffrey in the morning. And we would love to talk to you a little bit about your personal life. - Just one specific thing. - Yeah, not all of it. - Well, I would love to talk to you about your entire life. If you want, we could just focus on the dating aspect because we're doing a segment called the second date update. And we're trying to help out one of our listeners that you met up with the other night named Chris. - Oh. In this is an interesting conversation, okay? - Yeah, we'd like to gauge how you feel about Chris and the chances of you guys meeting up for a second date. - Is that really? - Well, I'm assuming that you have a story that he has emailed you or something. I don't know how it works. - Yeah. - Okay. - Yeah. - I was just trying to read your vibe first before I told you what we know about it. 'Cause here's the information that we have. We know that you two met online. That you both have very busy schedules. And this was the only night that you guys could get together. And so you went to a bar, had drinks and talked about a lot of stuff like your lives and your dogs. - And he really felt like you guys were like, having a good time, like really connecting in conversation. Did you feel that? - I did, I agree. - Oh good. - It was nice. - The thing is he didn't tell us the exact amount of time that the two of you were there, but from the sound of it, it was around 15 to 20 minutes maybe, and then you excused yourself to go to the bathroom and never came back to the table. - Well. - Before you tell us your excuse about why you did it. - And why you don't sound guilty right now. - I'd also like to know. - I think you do need to know something about Chris, that he is a dedicated healthcare worker who had just come off a 35 hour shift to meet up with you. And I know that you didn't know that. - He didn't want to tell you. - He didn't tell you. But I do think it's pretty brutal to ditch somebody like that. - We all think that. I bet you think that, how would you feel if someone left you in the middle of the date? - How would you feel if somebody fell asleep on yours? - Oh. - He did. - He felt like it happened. It wasn't that bad. He fell asleep. - Listen, I excuse myself for the restroom. When I got back, maybe five minutes later, he was asleep. - Okay. - But it's like, - It's like he fell asleep like while talking to you. - Yeah, that's fair. - When you fell asleep while you weren't there. - Yeah. - I was gone for less than five minutes. And I didn't know that he was up for 35 hours. - Yeah. - He should have told you that. - Saving lives. - Yeah. - For 35 hours. - So you went, why didn't you wake him up? I would have just woken the person up. - Oh, I tried. I-- - He was out. - He was out. - He was out. - He was out. - He was out. - Out to mom of shoulder. I was like, Chris. Chris. - Were you worried that he was dead? - No, I saw him breathing, but I figured he'd been drinking all day. I didn't know if he was a rump. - Oh. - I could see that. - So I did the decent thing. I paid the tab. - Yeah. - He said that he asked the bartender. - And that you left a $20 bill for them. - But the bartender didn't tell him he was asleep. Did the bartender not see? - Maybe not. - Honestly, I have no idea. We weren't very close to him, so I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't notice. - Oh my God. - Well, you're actually closer to him than you realize. You're one phone line away from each other. (laughing) And when I push this button, you're gonna be on the same line. So here we go. I'm pushing it right now. - For the thousand time. - Chris, you there? - Yeah, hey. - Okay, I thought you fell asleep for a second. - Chris, it all makes sense. - Yeah. - That you feel so relieved. - Right. - Chris, did you are you there? You fall asleep now? - No, no, I'm here. Hey, hey, Amanda. (laughing) - Okay. - I think we just had that moment. - Yeah. - Come on, that didn't actually happen, right? - What? - Yeah. - It did. And I don't, it did. Like I promise you, I sat with you for 15 minutes while you had your head on the table and your hands and your lap and you were soaring. - You stayed with Emily slept? - Yes, because I thought he would wake up. (laughing) I was enjoying our time. - Oh, he must have been so tired. - Oh, Chris. - Chris, how's that make you feel? - I find that pretty hard to believe. - What? - Wait, what? - You just got up a 35 hour shift. How is that hard to believe? 'Cause it wasn't my first ever 35 hour shift. I don't just pass out in bars like that. - Well, you go to the bars often after a 35 hour shift. (laughing) - If anyone is a remarkable kid. - I think a lot of healthcare workers actually do. - Yeah. - They have to go record. - I know, but you have like a couple sips of a martini. Those are gonna put you out in a second. - I'd remembered if I passed out. because I mean, I didn't lose any time. I was there, she left, I waited, and then I like got right up and went and talked to the bartender. There was no like loss of time. - Oh, she don't remember waking up. - But listen, how could she lie? She told us that story before she even knew that you were on that long shift. - And why would she make that up? - I mean, maybe she's trying to cover up because she's on the radio now that she's trying to look better, if I'm ditching me. - Oh. - Oh. - Uh-oh. - I'm not lying, and I don't know how to prove it to you. Maybe some security camera footage from inside the restaurant. - Oh, great, now we do the CCTV. (laughing) - I mean, that's ridiculous. I mean, she didn't even know that you did the 35 hour shift because she told us that before Jeff told her. - No, actually, I think I told her first, and then I asked for her excuse. - Yeah, we'll get away round. - Oh. I just don't know what else to say. Like, it happened, and I'm sorry that it did, and that sucks, and I would have been more understanding, and I probably would have responded to text messages that you sent me if I had known the circumstances. - Okay. - Well, this is like a classic-- - I think overall, like before all the sleeping confusion, he liked Amanda, Amanda liked Chris. Let's just go back to that moment and offer to send you guys out again. - I need to ask Amanda, would you like to go out with Chris one more time, give it another shot for him to be awake the entire day? And we would pay for it. - Well, I should be totally transparent with him on the line. I am seeing other people because I'm dating, I'm not exclusive with anybody. So if that's something that he's okay with going on a casual date, I would like to try again. I really liked our time together. - That makes you feel special, huh, Chris? - I was so nervous. - Yeah. - You did it for that? - Chris? - She's honest, she's forthright. - What do you think about being one of many? - I mean, I don't believe her, and now she might go out with me amongst a bunch of other guys, which is also, I guess, she didn't have any room in her schedule to go out except at one night. - Oh, that makes sense. - Well, maybe you shouldn't believe that she will go out with other guys too. Don't believe her on that fact either. - You're not gonna say no, are you Chris? - No. Wow man. Amazing. Mhm. I'll try. Has anybody here fallen asleep during a date in the middle of it? Oh no, one time I fell asleep while the girl was on the way to my place. I fell asleep one. Three hours later to her a bunch of calls in the evening. Oh, you never saw her. No, I never saw her again. I was wasted. I fell asleep once. So I'm not going to tell you why we're where. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. You were really tired and the guy was really boring. Oh, yeah. Oh, ow. Her and her husband's throwing. Yeah. That's pretty brutal. She just calls them the guy. I don't want time. I faked being asleep in the middle of a date in order to get out of it. Really? Which does make me sound like a horrible person. Yeah. But in my defense, she was the daughter of a loyal. What's up? What's up? Please don't make me explain what a loyal is. Is that sounds like a bad medical problem? No, it's a Jewish term. My mom knew all the moils. Oh, wow. Wait, is it a ethnic? Is it a ethnic? No, it's not a ethnic. It's like a rabbi? I never should have told the story in the first place. Is it mean? Is it a mean thing? We're not going in to it. It's really question. I got a loyal. Can you speak a little bit? I'm not going to speak. We didn't do a very good job getting a second date update there for Chris on our 1,000th second date call. But we learned something about each other in the last minute. So that was good. Yeah. A lot of things happened. And we want to learn about you and your dating life. That's right. So you know the show will help you call that person who isn't calling you back. Seriously, we were bathing in Fedichini Alfredo. It was amazing. And when I sang about road rage, hundreds of people were texting and saying, oh my God, I just got into a fender bender, Jeff. That's a minute. It's got the positive. It's been that we won it. And the one time I sang about babies, Brook got pregnant mid song. Wow. Crazy. How babies were made. Well, I apologize. And I don't think it's a coincidence though. Whenever I sing, I manifest things. Yeah. So prepare your bodies for what's about to happen to them. When I use my vocal powers during a pregnant. It is time for my song of the week and in the 14 plus years that I've worked at this radio show at Broken Jeffrey by the way follow us on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube if you don't know already, but a lot has changed in that amount of time. Oh yeah, are you kidding me bro? Our studio decor has been upgraded majorly. Yeah, it looks so good. Brooks shoulder pads, suit jackets, I've gotten even thicker than they used to be. And our producer has been fired then rehired then fired then rehired again. But one thing has always stayed the same here. What's that? I have always had my checks mailed directly to my house. What are you still doing? I'm the only person in the entire company that refuses to do direct deposits. Why do I feel like you haven't been paid in six months? Yeah. Because you haven't actually deposited a check. Or sector mailed. Why do I do it? Because the best part of my week is taking my paychecks down to the local bank and interacting with the tellers there. No, the banks are going to go away. No, Jeff, Jeff the tellers don't care about you. They don't want to see you. I disagree. There's just something so intimate and powerful about having somebody else fill out your bank deposit slips for you. You don't even know that we get paid every other week. You said weekly. That's why it's a little. It's a big bonus surprise when I find one in the mail like, we money. And if you just have a short conversation with one of the tellers about anything personal, you'll realize they are one of the hardest working, most underappreciated groups of people who show up every single day to do wire transfers, make change for a 20 and even notarize a document or two. They do a lot more, Jeff. Like people buy homes and stuff. I couldn't. I don't deal with that. Have you guys been to a bank lately? No, no. I go every single day. I think I know what they do when they don't. I get we don't get paid that I take Jeff. I don't know why you're going. It's a profession that you don't immediately think, hey, well, thanks a lot for what you do, but it is National Tellers Appreciation Week. Oh, and even though they're the only job left who doesn't get tipped, I'm going to tip them today with a song because instead of tea pains, I love the bartender. It's young Jeffries. I love my bank teller. Awesome, dude. I wouldn't even know who to tag. Bro, I'm this big America. Oh, it's someone on the app, right? I love those big apps. Yeah, it's not personal enough. You need that personal touch. So I'm going to point when I'm ready. This goes out to all the tellers. I love you. Point. [MUSIC] Cash. [MUSIC] Mula. [MUSIC] Brain. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning, when Bruce. Tracy is on the phone. She's a brand new player to the game today and she believe she's an excellent opponent for Brooke because she does very well when she plays along in the car, even tied her recently. And I just have a feeling, Brooke, you got a sneaky player on your hands. Yes, why? You got to watch out because I heard her talking to producer Boyd. And I just get the sense that she's sneaky smart. Oh, Tracy. Am I on to something, Tracy? Um, yeah, I hope I had just no questions about opera. And I should be good. Opera? Oh, she is smart. If you know opera, I-- OK, Timothy Shalamey. I hear you. That was a solid Timothy Shalamey joke. And I appreciate it. Tracy, the point is I believe in you. And we're going to send Brooke out of the studio. Have you got to watch some ballet? Oh. Don't agree just even more. We got 30 seconds on the clock to answer as many questions as possible. If you don't know, and you could say pass. you have to beat her out right if you want to win. Are you ready? Yes. Good luck. Your time starts now. But let's spring back into the studio and fun fact for you. Even though this is Tracy's first time playing, she was actually scheduled to play months ago, but couldn't because she was tied up attending a wedding in Italy. What they tell you up at those weddings? Yeah, that's 50 shades. Hey, Tracy, how did that happen where you're attending a wedding in Italy and what was it like? So I had exchange students before. So my Italian exchange student got married and it was just like I've ever been. So it was a real Italian wedding, not just some Americans going over there and taking up people's areas. Oh my gosh, how was the food? It was great. There was food everywhere. We walked into the reception. They had food out everywhere and then you had a seated meal with courses and then we had a hamburger barbecue. Is there any tradition like where the bride and groom feed each other meatballs or anything? Oh, the noodle when they do a drink of trance. Spaghetti kiss? They didn't do that, but they had to saw a long together to symbolize overcoming their first obstacle as a very couple. That's really cool. Oh, saw. I want to go to an Italian wedding now. Well, get another exchange student so that we can all attend the wedding. That's time, Tracy, but I do have a Spanish one, but she's not getting married yet. No pressure or anything, kid. Yeah, that's part of the deal. What is Brooks Turnbroker? You ready? Yeah, I'm ready. 80s or 90s. Sega 90s. Smell what two words is motel short for? Hotel and motor. Wolverine. Tracy, you got three correct today. Pretty good for your first time, Tracy. Thank you. And Brooke, four. And I knew the answer to the extra question. Yeah, everyone always does. Tracy, everyone always does. Just not sneaky enough. Let's go over the answers. The Sega Genesis video game console debuted on this day in the 1980s. 1989. Just barely missed the 90s. Yeah. Two thirds of a shark's brain is dedicated to its sense of smell. The word motel is short for the two words motor hotel. That's actually what they would call it in the 1950s.
