Welcome.
This is a vagus nerve reset meditation to help calm and rewire your nervous system.
Find a position where your body can receive support.
You may sit with your back resting against something steady.
Or lie down and let the surface beneath you carry your weight.
Allow your eyes to close if that feels comfortable.
Or let them gaze somewhere soft.
For these next few minutes, you may be able to relax and relax.
or simply giving your nervous system a series of gentle signals, nothing forced or rushed.
Take a deep breath in and on the exhale, begin by noticing where your body meets support.
Feel the weight of your back, hips, legs, feet.
Feel the weight of your legs, feet.
And notice that something underneath you is already doing some of the holding.
Take one comfortable breath in through your nose and let it leave slowly without a rush.
No push, just allowing the exhale to last as long as it wants to.
Again, breathe in gently and breathe out slowly.
Perhaps the exhale can be a little longer than the inhale.
But whatever it is, let the breath feel natural, letting your body know that it's in charge
here.
Before we turn inward, let the body notice where it is.
If your eyes are closed, allow them to open gently.
Without moving quickly, look toward one side of the room, and let your eyes land on something
neutral or pleasant.
Now slowly let your gaze move toward the other side of the room.
Allow your eyes to gather information.
Notice a doorway, the boundaries of the room, the distance between you and the objects around
you.
The nervous system is always asking, "Where am I?
What's happening?
What do I need to do?"
Let the room answer those questions.
You are here and supported, and in this moment, there is nothing you need to respond to.
Breathe in.
And on the other side of the room, let the breath feel natural, letting your body know
that it is in charge here.
Breathe in.
And on the other side of the room, let the breath feel natural, letting your eyes land
on something neutral or pleasant.
Breathe in.
And on the other side of the room, let the breath feel natural, letting your eyes land on something
different.
Breathe in.
Breathe in.
Breathe in.
Breathe in.
Breathe in.
Breathe in.
Breathe in.
Breathe in.
Breathe in.
Breathe in.
Thank you.
Allow the tongue to rest lower in the mouth.
Let there be a little space between the upper and lower teeth.
Gently release the effort of holding your jaw closed.
Notice the throat and imagine creating a little more room around whatever sensation is there.
Let the shoulders lower one small degree.
Just enough to tell the body that it doesn't have to prepare for impact right now.
Breathe in and on the exhale, bring awareness to the center of the chest.
If you notice tightness, pressure, or emotions,
let it be present without trying to move it.
Place a hand over the chest if that feels comforting or let your hand rest somewhere else.
Feel the warmth of that contact and sqaure it out.
Then return to your natural breath.
Notice the vibration around the lips, face, throat or chest.
See what you feel and again, breathe in comfortably and hum on the exhale.
Let the sound end when the breath ends naturally.
One more time.
Breathing in and humming softly as you breathe out.
Now let the breath return to normal.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Feel the silence after the sound and notice whether there's any warmth, vibration, softness,
or steadiness.
And if you notice no change, that's okay.
You're simply offering the nervous system repetition and a moment without demand.
When the nervous system has been activated for a long time, calm can feel unfamiliar.
You may be used to monitoring, anticipating, rehearsing.
Okay.
And if you notice any changes, there's no need to criticize that response.
It may have protected you and helped you function, but you don't have to live in the same level
of readiness every moment.
Let yourself hear these words.
You may be able to feel the change in your body.
You may be able to feel the change in your mind.
without losing control.
I can meet this moment without preparing for the next one.
Let the words fade.
Allow the music beneath you to continue without needing your attention as the breath moves
on its own and the body is held.
Begin to feel your fingers and toes.
Listen to the room and when you're ready, let your eyes open slowly.
Now rush back to movement.
Give the body time to notice that the practice is ending without anything urgent.
Let the words fade.
Begin to feel the music beneath you and when you're ready, let your eyes open slowly.
Let the words fade.
Allow the music beneath you and when you're ready, let your eyes open slowly.
Know that you can return to this through one longer exhale, a gentle hum, or one moment of looking around and remembering where you are.
Your nervous system doesn't have to change all at once.
It learns through steady, compassionate repetition.
One signal, one breath, and one return at a time.
Thank you for creating this space for yourself and for meditating with me.
Namaste.
Namaste.
Namaste.
