Okay, we're not going to do a full poll assassin, but congratulations according to college football tradition to number one in the country, UVA. Okay, we can maybe debate this, UVA getting college football traditions, number one ranking, Memphis at two, USC at three, North Dakota State at four, so on and so forth. Yes, this is the very first upon further review of the 2026 season. We don't have a lot to be able to pick apart, but by the time we left you, we did still have some action going, obviously we need to react to what we saw out of Memphis's big win out in the desert, the second half of Florida State, New Mexico State, probably bringing a larger Florida State conversation to the forefront. Day train, Danny's going to check in, we're going to be with the market in so much more, but I wanted to begin with a news item that has led to confusion, okay? On Friday, we find out that the NCAA is adjusting some of what it takes to be able to put a game on week zero, and these are the slow official machinations that could allow for something that we've been talking about, like the expansion of the regular season. So in the wake of the greatest week zero of the century, sure, why not? Is that, Danny, is this the last week zero? What do you think the future is going to be in terms of how the college football season starts? I don't know for certain what it's going to look like, but I think I know what it should look like, and we probably get, I mean, we're going to get the official start of college football season this weekend. So the week before Labor Day will be the kickoff, they'll call it week one. So the name week zero goes away, but you start the season a week earlier. And what I was noticing is I woke up on Sunday morning, I was like, hmm, wouldn't it be nice if there were some more college football games on today? I wonder if the new start to college football season, the new week one is a Thursday night game or two, Friday night, game or two, Saturday, full slate, Sunday, a few games on, because there's one thing that's great for college football TV executives and that's inventory. And you don't want it all going up at the same time and having to distribute across, you know, streaming services, they want all that prime inventory. So I think you could see a much bigger kind of kickoff weekend, which I think would be awesome. Then you kind of have the same thing with Labor Day and you have two weeks to get ahead of the NFL start to the schedule. So you can lure in some casual fans, give them some glimpse of some teams they could start liking. So I think to be a much grander, you know, schedule, obviously next year this past weekend. Yeah. Like we're going to have like 90 to 95 games, if the same number of FPS, FCS games, like, you know, stay constant like because there's like 40, I think 48 FPS versus FCS week one games. Right. So, you know, split the remainder. Anyway, we're going to like 90 different games to spread out. Like they're going to have to do this. I think it's Thursday, Friday, you know, a nice four window Saturday, you know, noon, afternoon, kind of even time and then late night. And then you probably have a three window on a Sunday. You're probably not going to play super late on a Sunday night, right? You know, just for travel and people going to work and whatnot. Like, that's going to be awesome. I think. So we, right. So we do it Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Saturday, Saturday, Sunday, wait, that's this one. Yeah. Okay. I think what you're doing is by eliminating week zero, you're taking kind of the format that we have for this upcoming Labor Day weekend. You strike the Monday off there probably, right? And so you end up having, you know, Thursday night, Friday night, like four windows on Saturday and then a nice three windows Sunday, because there's no NFL to compete against last Sunday evening, number nine, because there's nine windows. That's the last one. Because you're not going to do the Monday. You're not going to be on, it's not going to be on, on Labor Day because yet it, no, week. Labor Day is a week out of week zero. Right. So does, does, do they come back on the new week two former week one with football on Thursday? I think we're going to get two weeks of spread out stuff, but you probably, well, but not quite a spread out. I think we will have some Sunday, some Monday on the Labor Day weekend, which is now the new, I guess we can call it week two because we zero is now week one, right? Yeah. I don't think you're going to have. See, I told you this was confusing. It's confusing. It's really not. It's really not. I remember the census episode where Homer's confused about the new area code and then Lenny's like, what about the two weeks suspended area code camp, right? And I'll flyers. I, I tell you what I did not do. Listen, I believe in the college football playoff selection committee, and I do not think this is a TV show as the college football playoff selection committee, respecter. I don't think like a TV executive, you know? I'm thinking like Mark Daytonio, you know, I'm thinking like Wesley Walls, I'm thinking like new committee member Doug Gillan, just appointed to the committee because the Sunbelt needed to have its representative. I want it decided on the field here. Chip, I'm going to the only thing that changes. All right. And for anybody else who's confused, take week zero, turn that to a zero to a one and then go in order from there. That is all that is changing is they're calling week zero week one now and everybody can play. And Labor Day will be week two. Correct. And the only difference is that Labor Day weekend will probably not have quite the volume of Thursday and Friday games because everybody just played a regular game on the prior weekend. So they're not going to make everybody play on short rest, but you probably still will like the labor weekend. And if you still get a few like someone's going to play a Friday to a Thursday or a Thursday to Thursday, Thursday to Friday, something right. Your volume on Labor Day weekend is probably going to come heavy Saturday, heavy Sunday, and probably the Labor Day evening game. I like that. This is going to be it is the new reality is it slipped in I guess the official announcement was Friday, right? Yeah. Friday afternoon. And so that's what we have coming forward. How are we feeling about the state of Florida state in the wake of their win against New Mexico State SMU on deck and the Labor Day plus Stanford pulls away from Hawaii Memphis just on UNLV and more next. That does mean the conclusion of those 10.30 kickoffs do end up being something we cycle back to on Monday. In addition to the other reflections that we might not have been able to get to. Now, without having a fully loaded slate, I did feel as though we got our arms around a lot of the content, but there's been more to take away, especially for some of those games in the seven o'clock window. But I wanted to begin, but I want you to go ahead and take your victory dance because the difference maker, the most important group in my mind to my eye in Memphis, UNLV was the Memphis defensive front. And that after Jackson Arnold got off to a really good start in the first half. He was efficient, he was running the football. They weren't like explosive, but I thought that Jackson Arnold was doing a good job of running the offense and having a good day, and then he had a bad time. I mean, it's just, UNLV's offense wasn't hell. UNLV's offense was getting whipped up front, and certainly the Memphis defensive front is a part of that. You turned everyone's attention to that in big game breakdown. Were you more excited for Memphis or were you more excited for you? For Memphis, because like Jamon tap had an excellent game, and UNLV clearly knew that tap was, I think, the top threat on the D-line, but other guys on the D-line stepped up as well. They had 11 TFLs, I think Tom put on Twitter, they had 17 quarterback pressures. When you watch this, like Lance Getty, the Memphis DC is well known for blitzing like crazy, and just sending it from everywhere. And at a certain point, he was like, we're not going to just let Dan Mullin carve us up on some of his downfields, schemeed up stuff, which I thought Arnold was doing a good job of like, you know, Mullin schemes it up for him, he hits it, right, early on. And Memphis just started dropping seven consistently and relying on their front to get home. And UNLV also had a pretty key injury to their offensive line later on in that game, which certainly ramped up the pressure, too, like it was just like, oh shoot, the damn is about to burst. 11 TFLs is ridiculous. And Memphis front, like somebody's like, yeah, they're probably like a top half front in the G5. Like, first of all, it's G6, second of all, they're like top one. I don't, I mean, I could be wrong on that, but I'm not wrong by much. Like they're, and like the chip elitics and the butt elitics agree here. Like if you create 17 quarterback pressures and 11 TFLs, you're likely to have a good day. Yeah, like that's a fun team, man. And they're going to scheme some explosive scores. And they're running that old dominion offense, which is like kind of a variation, at least conceptually, like with the super whites, like splits that the browse offense does, or veer and shoot, whatever you want to call it. Most teams don't have enough DBS to actually cover those guys in that much space. Like they're going to hit explosives, probably every game, Stokes ran around really well, too. Like I thought he kind of gained some comfort as the game went on. And that meant this front, that is, that's a problem for everybody they play. And this is currently the most explosive offense in the country at 18.3%. Did you see their area arts per attempt? Yeah, it was pretty nuts. I mean, it was just chucking the ball down. Like they're average at the target. It's like 14. Yeah. What? Yeah, it was, bro, they were just bombs away. Oh, no, I mean, I saw the game. I just, I hadn't, I hadn't looked up the, uh, those areas. They're like Adam Dunn. Yeah. The fence is every time area arts per attempt was 12.6. But they weren't doing a much dinking and dunking. I agree, uh, Kate, I think in our chat, put up there that this might be Charles Huff. We might see him four schools in four years. This might be a one year, uh, stop for him. Hey, before we move him on, can we at least just celebrate Charles Huff? Yeah, absolutely. Like that. And sorry, sorry Memphis. Yeah, Memphis bands are like, hey, give us a chance. Memphis, Memphis, Memphis fans ain't even made it to week one. And we're stealing their coach and we're trying to go put them in the big 10. What the hell? Or the SEC? You know, wherever he's going to be. Do I love the locker room videos? Yeah. I scream trucks around here. We don't need to ice cream trucks. We're not doing ice cream Sundays. So ice cream socials. We don't need music and practice. We're here for players. They want to get better at ball. And he did bring up a great point. He's like, you know what's fun? This locker room right here when they're celebrating the big win. I would, I will get behind a coach who's the old school mindset who doesn't, who tells those players, if you want all those frills and all those nice fun things, go somewhere else. We're here to play football. Not to have fun. Hey, and Memphis will pay you. What do you think? Or good shit? Memphis will pay you to play football. Yes. They have the money. But they want to remind you, I think that that's a good modern approach. Like, we will compensate you for your work as a football player. We're just not going to be focusing on some of the frills. They got stuff to work on though for sure, right? Like, run game. Charlsoft has to figure out like, how do you launch into a chess bump with some actual angles? You don't get level. Get crushed. What's our home field code again? At this O'Cover 3, C-O-V-E or number three. I think Memphis is my favorite home field collection. Ooh. I like to have all the old school Memphis state stuff. The best way to know if Charlsoft is leaving Memphis at the end of the year is if they start off 5-0 in conference play and then suddenly lose to Texas State South Alabama and Troy and then finish with a bowl lost western Kentucky. That's how you know. The schedule that Tom just read for those who haven't put that together is what Southern missed it last year starting 5-0 and then. And then for some reason in November that team just stopped looking prepared. I don't know what happened. That coaching carers they'll started spinning music. The carnival music started and Southern Miss just didn't have quite the same focus. I don't think it's crazy to start calling this one of your one of your playoff contenders. Not crazy at all. Who on this schedule has a real good chance to block him. I'm not saying nobody. I'm just gonna like Arkansas State. Arkansas State was taking money in the market last weekend until that game got played and then that did not continue. Boise in Boise like that. That's probably your G6 game of the year to be honest. I mean, and Fresno's really good and we got to see what JMU is. And there's a lot of teams out there that are very much it like this is not decided. But if they go get that win at Boise. And they already got a win at UNLV. That's for scheduling these. That's a great schedule. UT Martin not blocking those guys Charlotte same UAB same Tulane. My opinion no Tulane fans on Twitter think they're gonna like block him no problem. East Carolina Army. Okay, like that's a different type of thing like you got to come pray for that you get them in Memphis at USF. We'll see you know at Navy. That's like that could be your top two teams. I thought that that was the run Army USF Navy. That'll be kind of where we see this thing settle out. You know, where is Memphis's depth at that point in the season. The risk is their execution because if you can scheme your way around it. Then yeah, you might be able to find a way to negate it. But you still got to figure out ways to score points when when Marcus Stokes is out there. Adam Dunning Adam Dunning it. You know, this one was decided in the 20s. They might have the best quarterback and almost certainly had the best D line in the conference. And that combo can get you pretty far in this sport. I would agree. What's the panic level for UNLV? Your playoff hopes if you were hoping to get them certainly took a huge hit on Saturday night. But I don't think like their conference they're fine. It was the first game that might be the best defensive line they face all season. You know, no, it's I wouldn't worry too much. I would be concerned with the I mean Jackson Arnold look great for the first two and a half quarters of the game. And then just kind of reverted to old like the problems with Jackson Arnold. He was, you know, not seeing it. He was just completely folding under the pressure and taking sack after sack when he probably, you know. It's like when you're as mobile as he is, you'd think he'd be better at escaping sometimes than he is. But fun little stat here. I got for you guys some trivia because they looked this up in our our research department over the weekend. Jackson Arnold after taking six sacks on Saturday night is now tied with Byron Brown for the fifth most sacks taken among active quarterbacks. He's got 73 but there are any guesses as to who the top four are active. Rocco backed. Nope. Oh. And these are totals. I mean, you've got to play a lot. And your career. Yeah. So you've been around a little while. One of them is I've mentioned on the show. Ashton Daniels. Nope. Okay. He played like 40 games. He's mentioned in the check out one right so far. Dylan Rayola. Nope. Sellers. Yep. Sellers is currently fourth with 75. So there's three more to go. Oh, Calandria. Calandria is number one. Let's go. So this is not a new problem for you and LV. Yeah. They have been down this road before. But just for yeah, Anthony Calandria has the most of active players with 84 in second place is Jalen Rainer with 83. Is Noah Fafita at 76. Oh, yeah. Is Rainer a five for five guy? going to get to play five years. I think so. Yeah. I would. I wonder what the record is. Cause like he, he might add to that lot that shirt I would state. Danny, how many times were you sacked? Not that many. Hey, and this is when we remind you, sacks is a quarterback stat. That's right. Yeah. Danny kept that thing crispy. We're not taking negative place. We also need to make note of Dan Mullins quarterback competitions, because this is the second year he said he was going in. We're both going to play. And then you saw Alex Orgie take a backseat yet again, sprinkled in sprinkled in. Yeah, he played all right, but it wasn't a two quarterbacks. Yeah, it was very obvious when it was red zone stuff. Yeah, it was all red zone, uh, try to create that conflict. I'm not really concerned for you and LV. Yeah. Um, I mean, I think, I think their CFP hopes are done. Yeah. Yes. Most likely now, could they crazy thing to say on August 31st, but I do think it's true. Well, but there's one spot. All the G6 is fighting for and let something really strange happens. So if they had one, then they were more on the in road than they are now. Like, look, there is nothing strange happening though. If they go to all they want to again, if they go 12 and one and they're managed to pull an upset over like, you know, an eight win Cal. Um, I think that resume would play. It was a one score lost at home to what appears to be a very good Memphis team. You know, like, I don't think they're completely done. Um, I just don't think you're going to play very many teams who can do to them what Memphis did. Sure. I would say part of my calculation is also that Memphis would probably be viewed as a quality win after what we just saw. That game was 27, 21. If they'd won it 28, 27, they would have had a win potentially over the American athletic conference champs. Right. So, and maybe a team that also had a win over Boise State. Small March, I mean, we're sitting here propping up Memphis and, you know, talking about UNLVs missed opportunities. These, these are still small marches. Um, to be the preacher, not only Coach Luck, but Dr. Luck. Did you see Coach Luck, Dr. Luck helping a player off the field too? Right. I mean, he's on the training staff. He's on the offensive staff. He think he on the team. Why, why are we, why are we all? He cares so much. So, look how much he cares. Look how much he cares. I know. I like it for the record. I like it. I know Andrew is a huge, I know Andrew is a huge fan of the Cover 3 podcast. I want to make sure that I want to make sure he knows that I like how much he cares. Big win for Stanford, getting the DeVita Pritchard era off with the victory. Davis Warren, strong performance. At that time, you, you mentioned this already on Twitter. I'll let you get first word. If you want to give the, the celebratory flowers to a quarterback, who we certainly sellied his name during his time at Michigan. And we're not hopeful about what this could look like. I think he handled himself very, very well. Look, Hawaii's defense. Hey, hey, context, context to Hawaii's defense. But still, I thought it was a good performance for a while. I didn't solely his name just when he was at Michigan. I was on this show. Sullying his name all last week. But yeah, 22 to 34, 9.1 yards per attempt, 8.4 yards per dropback, didn't take a single sack. And PFF said that his receivers dropped four of his passes. So, he was also kind of 22 to 30, not 22 to 34. Now, as you said, Hawaii. So, I would like to see more consistency going forward. But I am noticing and I am considering an apology. But I also point out if you want to respond by saying, he's playing Hawaii, he was. And Stanford was what a three point favorite. So, it's not like he was out of superior team. So, he was still tearing him apart while being on a, you know, and that team that's not much better than Hawaii. So, we are, we are noticing. And his Michigan fans have reminded me these last couple of days. He did beat Ohio State. Oh, oh, well, I know. I thought he played well. Yeah. And Stanford was also down three offensive linemen. That makes me a little bit concerned for Hawaii's defense, honestly. Like, he played well. We will see how this works in conference play. Hawaii's defense might just be cheeks. But, you know, we'll see. They look, they look decent, man. Like, at this point, I'm fairly confident Stanford is not the worst team in the power for. And they were, they were in the running for it, I think, entering the season. Did you have them as bottom of the ACC? Yes. Do you still think they are 17 or 17? I didn't have them like, I didn't have them like, meaningfully different than Boston College. So, I guess after one week, they're going to move up to 16. Right. But the, the distance between Stanford and North Carolina or the difference between Stanford and Syracuse. Syracuse. You know, like those, those feel like smaller gaps now than what? And we in Boston College play Cincinnati. One of the few power conference, power conference games that we actually have this week. But that'll, that'll be something because the next, the next leg of this. And then we're going to hit a break, make sure we get day train Danny in here too. Stanford plays Miami on Friday night. I mean, they got a game under their belt. And I just, they got a little bit of confidence. Miami's going to be getting out there. I'm not putting any upset alert sirens on, but this is not a walk in the park for the season opener for the hurricanes. I will do, we'll do big game breakdowns and you know, all of our like locks and stuff later, but are we elevated in that game to big game break down? No. Got a hook up. I mean, LSU Clemson, Ole Miss Louisville, Oregon, Boise, Notre Dame, Wisconsin. Fair? Fair, fair big game breakdowns? No. Yeah. And there's a couple we would add in, I think, before we're adding Miami Stanford. I had UCLA Cal ranked tire. I had SMU FSU ranked tire. Baylor Auburn ranked tire. And then yeah, we could then we start to dip into your Miami Stanfords of the world, things of that nature. I won't be here tomorrow. So you guys should feel free to break down Miami Stanford. That's right. You can just do an ACC preview big game breakdown week. But is this is is this at least something that has your attention a little bit more for that Friday night kickoff? No, because I unless they're getting those linemen back in short order, which I guess is possible, I would be shocked if they can block Miami. And we've seen Davis warrant under pressure. And I don't know if I have any reason to think he is, you know, changed against pressure. Fair. Again, that is Friday night, 9 p.m. Eastern time out in Palo Alto. You wanted to turn the attention to loss angelists. What was something that we did not get a chance to discuss extensively here that you would like to bring to a pun for the review? Why are people surprised that there aren't fans at a USC game? The reaction to it was so wild to me as if you have not been paying attention to USC games or UCLA games. Is this your first time watching college football? They don't sell out games for these kind of opponents. I know there's been a ton of excuses given about the weather or traffic or blah, blah, blah. I also saw somebody like you're spotted with a video from 2009 of USC hosting San Jose State on a 90 degree day season opener in the place was packed. The context missing from that video was that 2009 was after seven straight years of USC finishing ranked in the top five. So that was the beginning of the season where they were thinking USC was for a national title again. So yeah, fans showed up, but that's what Los Angeles and Southern California sports are. They only show up if it's the cool place to be. If you're not winning, and you're not like you're not there to see it, you're there to be seen. That's what the scene has always been in LA. It's what it is for everything. It's what it is for sports. They show up to dodge your games because that's a cool place to be. They show up to Laker games because that's a cool place to be. If you're not winning, they're not going to be there. So like the idea that suddenly everybody's like, I can't believe fans aren't showing up for USC game. It's like, well, no crap. They haven't been for years unless it's a huge game and a huge opponent. They average 70,000 last year. I think they're fine. Agreed. It's on fully. They're Miami of the West Coast. Aren't their fan bases very, I mean, they're almost identical. Like that place will be crowded and sold out versus Oregon Ohio State. I don't want to get too far into it. I also think that it's very red and blue coded if you catch what I'm saying. What? Talking about like California. Just yeah. Oh, like people who just want to just trash everything on California in general. I mean, I don't know. I just, I couldn't, I, the best way sometimes to cut through is going to be with comedy. So when Jake Olson said that he hadn't seen fans at camp. Yeah, Jake Olson. I haven't seen anyone in the Coliseum for years. Big F and deal. Tell the haters to pipe down. So should we provide context for those who might not? That Jake Olson is the blind snapper who played Oh man, Jake Olson crushing it. Yeah, look, he, the, the, the piece and I, Danny, I think you mentioned it a little bit and I didn't want to, I didn't want to make anyone look as though they, it was a misstep, but the piece that was so striking to me was just the presentation. It was, they got their NBC studio team. They got their NBC a team and Noah Eagle as Lincoln Riley is walking out of the tunnel. He's setting it up and he goes and now to kick off one of the most anticipated USC football seasons in years and like crescendo on the announcement zoom out from the tunnel and that's the stance, you know, and that, and I don't want there to be any blame there, but I do understand why fans might have overreacted. I don't think it's necessarily red or blue coated with that specific, but the way that I took in, I said, everything about this is being made to feel big except for the lack of human bodies that are in these seats. And that I understood if it stood out to you. And it's also week zero when there's only eight games and you can't make fun of UCLA, not have anybody through Rose Bowl either. Like it's like, you're just, there's, you get so much attention, negative and positive. It works both ways. That was like the perfect storm. Yep. 100%. I wanted to, oh, yes. We signed off, you know, once we wrapped up our instant reaction show, you know, we, we were noticing the Aggies trying to get a little frisky. We signed off to each other with a hearty and a heartfelt go-knows, you know, sending love and prayers that we'd be talking about this 33 minutes into the show and not in minute one. You know, there's another way that game goes where, I don't know, we might have to come back on. Who knows? But 3417 is your final, Danny. Final, final read on Florida State's opener. I mean, there was also what I'm going to go back and refer to with my cover three star lock of the century was giving out minus 16 and a half live line that bud said, Hey, we noticed that and I took it and got the win. So I think that should make up for my one and two start in the locks. That was said here on the pod. I think that should count for it. It was not pretty. There's no way to sugarcoat it. And I will still maintain the same thing. There are a lot of issues that they need to fix. If you beat SMU, no one will remember the New Mexico State game. If you lose SMU, it's like, Oh my gosh, we're going to be awful. When are we fine, Mike? Novel. So yeah, I'm concerned about the offensive line. I'm concerned about some of the busted coverages. Concerned about Ashton Daniels, just his comfort level in the system. But it's, I think the one good thing is that it was a preseason type game. They do get a game under their belt. They can coach them up really hard this week. You can get after the players and you go out and hopefully get a much improved performance against SMU. Because if they perform like that, they'll get beat like three by three touchdowns gets SMU. Yeah. I saw some good things, right? You know, there were some stuff that I think, like there were some stuff I first guessed and the other stuff I was like, I just, I don't know, right? Like they they took Kennedy from Texas saying, M, my initial thought was this guy didn't play very much. I, like, given everything, A&M, like lost on the D line, you would think if they liked this guy internally, they would have kept him, right? But they didn't. So like to me, that was a red flag, but maybe FSU had his practice film. It was amazing or something or maybe they saw something underrated in him. And maybe they'll use him in a different way. But like, if you took Florida State's pass rush, right? Every single guy that was rushing the passer, you know, from the front seven and you put them on the highway. Ain't none of them getting the speed and tick guys. There's all 55 or worse. Maybe a couple like 56, 57, you get a little warning or something, but that's like really concerning that you didn't have guys win in 101 pass rush, like at all and had the blitz to generate the pressure. You know, safety is a major concern. I think it's, I think after one game you can tell they missed on some of their offensive line takes and that's just not going to get better a whole lot during the season. I hated what they did. It tied in in the portal. And the problem is like given that you went on the line stuff, you got to keep it tied in to help and those guys are not good players. So some of your most expensive and best assets can't get all in the field at the same time because they're pretty heavily clustered and they're running back in the receiver room. So yeah, I mean, not good. If you took that alt under under five and a half, I feel really good about that now. I am sick and damn tired of the duma rhythm about our seminals on this show. Do you know who the second most explosive offense in the country is right now? Don't say Florida State. It's Florida State. You know which offense ranks second in the nation and EPA per step, Florida State. All right. Listen, there was some, there was some errors. There was some inconsistency. It was the first game of the season. Not everything was perfect, but they were hitting the big plays. All right. They are still the second best offense in the country right now despite those mistakes. So when we get it ironed out, we're going to be scoring 45, 50 points for game and nobody in the ACC is going to be able to keep up with us. I don't care. You guys are just tumors. Chroma was good as, you know, as advertised, but he doesn't have great vision. So the fact that like, he's kind of running in the back of the offensive line a lot because of blocking is not great. When he's got a hole or if he creates his own, that was pretty impressive. So some of those runs were really nice. You know, it's also some good things from Danzee. Like him becoming a more legit number two given his world class track speed is impressive. You know, I singled in two and one. Five five targets for singleton. Was he on your board as somebody who could emerge with the heavy heavy workload? That was why I thought paying the money they paid for, for Traveon Weissner was idiotic. And I'm not trying to like bash Weissner was like, there's a reason Texas let him go. You know, and like, you're paying that kind of money for him. What if you had an extra, I don't know what they paid like somewhere between probably, you know, half a million and a million, right? Like, what if you could have thrown that at a legitimate quarterback or like a real edge rusher? But this is kind of like trying to like do moves to sell tickets for trying to do moves to win games. Oh, that's a bar. That's something that we see coaches do right before their candle gets snuffed out. You know, yeah. Again, anything you can do to just keep business humming and then just hope that it hits because you're not going to eat your vegetables. Interesting, interesting stuff. All right, the market's open. Let's go, baby. Second one of the year because we did our one for our big New York City studio show. And unfortunately, some of the day trading Danny here on cover three is CJ Bailey was the number one by some of that is mimicked. Some of that has mimicked my real life day trading Danny results. So hopefully you can buck that trend. But I will start it off with a team that I think is a legit playoff contender. We spent a lot of time talking about Memphis, North Dakota state. I am telling you, their win total was nine and a half coming into the season big test first game to make the jump at the FPS level. That was one of the more dominant performances of the weekend. Dominating the line of scrimmage three quarters of shut out football after an early touchdown from Jacksonville state. The questions that were there at quarterback. I think our answer with Nathan Hayes. This has been a quarterback factory. I think they have four or five quarterbacks are on NFL rosters from North Dakota state. They were able to get the control the lines of scrimmage running back by committee. A lot of guys getting a lot of different touches. And there are there's not a game on that schedule that you can't see them winning. So that is my buy North Dakota state as a playoff team. And I am selling the team that we talked about before in UNLV as a playoff team. I do think it was that significant of a loss. I do think there was enough red flags. The defense coming into the season was a liability. They didn't exactly get a lot of those issues corrected. So I'm going to knock UNLV out of the race. And they do play against each other. So obviously you know where I'm standing with that one. But I think North Dakota state they've got the storyline kind of behind them. Is that team making that jump? James Madison already laid the foundation for how you could do it. They had to wait. North Dakota state doesn't. The North Dakota state is a very real playoff team in that conversation for the G6. Let me guess here. Or let me ask you a question here. And look at our graphics. I know moving those were like like how many wins there's a budget. Dude seriously. How many wins clear do you think of an American team or a pack 12 team? Do they need to be like this 12 and 0 North Dakota state given their schedule to get in over like a 10 and 2 American champ. If it's Memphis or like a 10 and 11 and 1 no but a 12 and oh yes that's well still kind of shown their inability to really appreciate strength of schedule. So yes. I'm a more conservative investor. I would prefer to buy North Dakota state to win the Mountain West than to make the playoff. It's fair. New Mexico we recognize as sort of the other piece of that now. It's it's a UNLV New Mexico North Dakota state picture or are there another contender that I would not add Hawaii after what we saw against Stanford to the picture. Especially defensive concerns already mentioned. Anybody else it. North Dakota state's favorite at this point as of this morning. New Mexico's quarterbacks you know he's out right. So that's probably probably a big deal. Air Force I think is the other one that would have a shot. North Dakota state look good though man. Yeah. I'm just dominant. They are playing with a lot of confidence. I think they're a really good football team. They've already had a lot of success against FBS programs too. No, they get that opportunity this year. But and the question both the tougher games. UNLV and the Mexico both on the road, but I think they'll be able to push around a lot of these teams. I don't. Yeah. I. It's Jacksonville State. Whoa. That is conference USA title contender Jackson. Yeah. Well, it's yeah. What was the first two words you said conference USA. Yeah. Okay. So it's like listen, it was it was great. I loved it. I was very happy with them. I thought that they played very well. Like I said, I would rather bet on them to win them out in West because a you know, UNLV did not look incredible against Memphis. Not a conference loss. New Mexico is lost. It's starting quarterback. So I think that there is more wiggle room in the conference now than there probably was at this time last week. So I'd give them that. But I also think that you know, it's there's a lot of season left to go. And it was a it was the first game at the FBS really incredible atmosphere and they really fed off of it. We got to see him do it on a weekly basis before at least I do before I'm going to crown them champs there. You can buy him later at a higher price. All right, Danny. What else? All right. So I need to find some bargains out there in the the basement. So I got a couple buys here. I'm going to buy a couple quarterbacks. One that I already told you I was buying and coming into the season. And that is CJ Bailey at NC State. The other one is Jayden Craig. I'm going to scoop some of these up now. I'm not predicting them to win hyzmins. I'm not predicting them. They're for their teams to be 10 and two or 11 and one. But I do think there is a narrative where they're both they're getting unfairly bashed because there were so many eyeballs on both of those games with Jayden Craig specifically. I'll start with him because I thought you saw some things like I thought you saw an NFL style of quarterback, which actually fits into what the new offensive coordinator wants to do. That's all we heard about was Gordy Samus wants to be more balanced. But the fourth and two conversion, which everyone was like, oh, why don't he run it in? He knows his run game better than most. I'm not so certain he would have gotten that one. And I do think some of the blame needs to go on the play collar for having a pocket passer rolling out to his left already trying to make the toughest throw. And it does throw off your ability to run the football because if you're thinking I'm going to pass, which that's what Jayden Craig does, you have to like slow your steps to get turned around to throw to the right. It's probably why he emailed the pass. I wasn't a lot of guys running wide open. I think he'll be fine. I'm probably more worried about TCU's locker room culture right now with what's going on there. And for CJ Bailey, I'm still a believer in his raw potential and what he could do. That was his worst game by far as a starter. But he has had some other ones that he bounced back pretty strongly from. Last year against Notre Dame, they got waxed. He was 36 to 7. He had one touchdown, three picks. The next week at Pitt, bounce back, they did lose the game. But he had three touchdowns, zero interceptions. He had a rough game against Miami, getting blown out, zero touchdowns, two interceptions came back with a strong performance against Florida State. I think it's kind of being a quarterback on a team that is okay. I thought the team just got embarrassed more than CJ Bailey did. Like I feel okay about CJ Bailey. So I'm going to scoop up some of those quarterbacks that everybody's throwing out with the garbage. I'm going to snatch up a couple of them as being pretty good quarterbacks that'll that'll be closer to the expectations coming in that everybody now saying they're both blessed and way too overhyped. You want all my Bailey shares? Yes. There you are. I'll take some of your Bailey. What about correct shares? I'm still holding on to some correct shares. You're out on Bailey like done, done. Just done. He's a starter and he comes out looking like that. How about NC State coming out looking like that? Like that was embarrassment all around. Follow the leader. Yeah. Yeah. Denny's about to have to file like a corporate insider report. He's going to own more than 10% of the Bailey market. I'll take over. He's going for beneficial ownership to like legitimate. Yeah. All right. So I got those. So now this other one I would say this is a high price to buy, but I don't care because I still don't think he's just one of the top three spots. I haven't looked at the updated Heisman race, but I'm going to buy up some Jaden Mayava Heisman stock. I was bullish on him coming into the season. The big question mark for him was how would some of these young pieces do around him? I think you saw more than enough from Trent Mosley, the freshman, Caden Dixon, Wyatt, the freshman, Mark Bowman, the freshman. I think you have a veteran quarterback paired with some young Uber talented weapons. On that side of the ball, I think I have USC as a playoff team. I think Jaden Mayava has an outstanding chance to be there in New York. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he takes home the Heisman trophy. So I'm going to buy some Jaden Mayava, even though it's probably a little expensive right now, I'm going to add that to my portfolio, a little bit more Jaden Mayava stock. Currently the 11th favorite. Right now, even after the weekend, still behind Gunner Stockton, still behind Sam Levitt. Oh, I love it. I'm going to skip up even more right now. That's a good, anything until he gets up into that top eight, top six range, I think you're still green like you can tell your analysts to go ahead and set those parameters on being able to scoop up as much as you can as possible. Definitely. All right, old games are pretty manageable, Oregon, Ohio State at home. Well, I've told you the environment. The narrative sell to a Heisman voter who already struggles to know names on a Dept chart. It's Jaden and the Mayavis, you know, like this, like this is his offense. And I'm not expecting a Heisman voter to know Waman Jordan or King Miller or even maybe they'll know more Bowman by the end of the season, right? You know, just as a freshman of the year type player, but this is him as the face of the offense leading the way. That would be a good Heisman campaign to sell for sure. Love it. The last one. This one hurts a little bit. I'm sure it might cut deep with chip, as far as a big win for the Tar Heels. I would not be buying any right now. If anything, I would be selling some UNC stock like every issue. You corrected there in Chapel Hill, I like Danny turn over new leaf here like what is this is not my high cell low Danny like like we are this is this is I like this. This is good. Exactly. That's why I'm doing. I'm learned over my I went back and looked at some of my patterns looked at my charts and I had to you know I've realized some deficiencies in my system and then so that it's a nice win right you want that's all that the school Desperately needed the program desperately needed that but They're going to get a win this weekend, but then they go to Clemson. They have Notre Dame and they have pit I think the reality is they could be two and three and we could be right back to square one where we were wondering if Bill Bell check is the answer definitely feel positive they are a tougher out But I think that was a little bit of fool's gold It wasn't exactly the prettiest win and a win as a win playing against a guy making his first start at that level You'll take it when you can get it, but I am not convinced that all North Carolina's problems are solved Hmm I look I Just think that when you show that kind of heart and grit, you know, I mean clearly that can they just mask over all kinds of problems, right? fun interesting conversations Last night at dinner where I was talking to my dad and we remembered that two years ago The North Carolina tar heels had a hard fought ugly gritty weather delayed win away from home to start the season They went up to Minnesota game was delayed. They ended up winning 19 to 17 It wasn't pretty, but it was a power win a power conference win away from home. And so you're like, okay, okay Remember that same team gave up 70 to James Madison three weeks later. So to your point Okay, you know like this it that same team was the one that caused all kinds of that that the small domino that put Bill Bella check on the sideline and created all this This world that we live in right now. So let's use recent memory of that 2024 season open win at Minnesota. It's a not take too much and They will win this weekend against the off week. I'm excited to say they are favored against the off week They returned to action against East Tennessee state. So we've got the North Carolina fans. They get to go down Oh, baby, I know shores for the Labor Day weekend without a football game to sweat. Are you kidding me? We'll be out on Shaq baby Listen with this is this is gonna be a fantastic weekend to not have to worry about the the footballs For for North Carolina tar heels. They'll be back in action Against East Tennessee state where will he Lee? Might be a snake in the grass. Watch out for that one could get frescier than you realize.
