UPDATES From Your Favorite Stories! | Reading Reddit Stories

This episode of Smoshreed’s Reddit Stories revisits previously featured stories with new updates that clarify misunderstandings and reveal deeper truths. The first story involves a bride who accuses a 19-year-old server of being overly flashy at her wedding—later revealed to be a misjudgment, as the server was 18, the wedding had intoxicated guests, and the bride’s concerns were exaggerated. A second story centers on a coworker who is sexually harassed through a "hear me out" cake, leading to a professional response where the harasser is reprimanded, takes a harassment course, and apologizes. A destination wedding story escalates when the friend who was invited to the wedding is revealed to be cheating on her husband, resulting in a small claims court victory and a public confrontation. The final story shows a couple’s long-standing Disney obsession, where the wife fakes a car accident to avoid travel and pressures the husband to relocate to Orlando. Updates reveal emotional manipulation, deception, and a breakdown in trust. These stories collectively highlight how personal and professional boundaries are tested, and how accountability, clarity, and bold action can lead to resolution. The episode emphasizes the power of perspective, the dangers of emotional overreaction, and the importance of standing up for oneself—especially when relationships are built on delusion or manipulation. It also reflects on how social media and personal courage can turn personal conflicts into public reckonings.

Hello and welcome to Smoshreed's Reddit Stories. I'm Shane and today is the episode so many of you have been asking for for so long It is the update episode that focuses on stories We have read on the show before that have since been updated. So we're gonna be revisiting stories With all these updates either updates we miss the first time or have come out since the episode aired And I am joined by two people who love a good update Tommy and Courtney Okay, yes, yes, a date. Hello. Have I heard of a shape like this? I think this is my favorite shirt I've ever seen you wear. Hey, thank you. You know it reminds me of the mask when he does the Yes, yes, so this is how this episode is gonna work I'm going to read the summary of the story from the episode that it's from And if you want to go back and listen to it We're gonna link all of the stories below from all their episodes We'll discuss the original story a bit and then I'll read the update that we didn't cover on that show and any relevant comments Okay, very cool Now so many stories have been updated since we've read them on this show So we haven't covered all of them in this episode, but don't worry. We'll probably do that down the line Before I move into this, do you guys have any favorite updates or any update stories that we've read on the show that you just Think about all the time I mean this is This was from I believe our Boston live show our Boston live show there was the update to the Hamas story. Yes, and that update was so funny Love that Hamas story update. Very good. I hate to say it Because obviously I hate this in real life And I hate it for people when it happens, but whenever there is an update Where it turns out someone's cheating it always kind of blows your mind, especially when like you don't suspect it in the first story For sure. Well, we had one a few months ago where it was like a wife was like yeah, my husband I think he's going and eating hot dogs every day. I think he's going down to 7-Eleven and eating a hot dog Hamas, what is with people and it's it's kind of like wait what okay like talk to him and then the update is like Oh, he's having a full-on affair Okay All right, there's my favorite is when there's an update and it's like it's an affair and the update is the woman getting away Do you know what I mean there? Getting out where it's like this woman. I can't remember the exact original story It was like she was pregnant with there like with another like their next child Seize on her his phone that he was fully having an affair with her best friend She got all her ducks in a row lawyer situation. She she was able to get out She got she had already had a place that she could live like her dad's home or something and Potentially a new special friend at the end. It was very very I was like yes She wins We love to hear it. There's many different kinds of updates because the really positive ones are also so nice When people surprise you with being so kind. Yeah understanding wait, you know what story? I don't know if it has an update and I hope to God that this does the Koala piss Climidia one Yes, yes, that was it can she was like she was like I guess it could have been the Koala and it just kind of ends going So someone who this is this is someone's first episode of this show that they're like like what is this show kind of shit Are you guys reading if someone's using the update episode for the first one? Okay? You're brave. Hey brave. All right Let's hop into our first story. Yeah, so again, I coughed over you Let's hop into our first story. Yes Yeah All right, so this first story comes from Am I the asshole posted in September of 2022? The original story was am I the asshole for kicking a server out of my wedding This came from the a walk on the wild side episode from earlier this year with Amanda and Olivia The summary of it is the OP the bride planned her dream wedding down to her dream catering company The wedding guests were told to wear dark colors and minimal makeup so that OP and her husband stood out OP gets mad that one of the servers is wearing too much eyeliner and also had diamond studs in her ears a flashy ring and one of those ugly nose studs OP then complains that the server staff uniform was too low cut and her pants were too tight Claiming the server was super distracting OP finds the server's boss and asks that the server be dealt with because she was super distracting The boss apologized and called the server back into the kitchen During dinner OP catches the server back out serving food OP calls the boss over again and asks if that server can either work in the back or go home The boss said they were short staffed and would see what could be done a couple hours go by and everything seems fine until OP spots the server now behind the bar OP called the boss out one more time and said if the server didn't leave she would be calling the cops The boss relents and tells the girl to go home OP's husband and mother-in-law said she was acting crazy and got a college kid fired over nothing But OP's mother and made of honor backed her up saying it's her wedding so she can do as she pleases to quote OP It's my wedding and I don't want someone overshining me and the server should know she's at work and not dress up so much I do feel kind of bad because she was pretty young. I believe she was 19 if I recall I remember this story very well The bride is definitely in her mid 20s at least Yeah, and it seemed very clear from the story that the boss was just kind of like all right just kind of go to the back for a little bit Like just let her do her thing you know Yeah, pretty embarrassing Um, I just remember like having so many feelings about that one because it's like OP like you are the bride you if you're worrying about this person and fixating and worrying about them You're worrying about the wrong things at your wedding like you already want you're having your day It's your day and the fact that you're like her uniform It's not like she chose to wear whatever and chose like this was her uniform that she has no control over To and saying like it's so it is so problematic of like dress codes and all those things to like Deal with her deal with her put her away Yeah, it's just kind of like I don't know it's it's like what what do you think people are thinking right now like you think Everyone's like wow that's one verse girl that hot 19-year-old sure is hot no yeah Um, and this is like one of so many types of stories we read where where bride is like obsessed with one person at the wedding and there are many stories too that we read where someone wears an extravagant dress white to the wedding and that's a different story Yeah, but in this case, it's like dude this 19-year-old's just trying to get by just trying to do the job probably exhausted Also 19-year-old working behind the bar Um, and you know it's probably happened more than once when the boss is like all right Just like we'll do our routine where we'll pretend like I'm sending you back and then you keep working whatever Um, the verdict was asshole for the OP. Yeah, obviously. Yeah, I think that tracks. I mean it's it's like you just said It's always like it's one or the other either Someone's focusing too much on this person that doesn't need to happen or that person is like I'm gonna be married today not you Yeah, it's like okay, you need to Do not be here. Um, I don't know it's like I guess I guess you could have been like can you take off the nose ring But what if it's healing but also like I know I'm not going to a wedding and going while that person's wearing a nose ring They're completely outshining the broad exactly. Oh, he also asked everyone to wear dark colors and minimal makeup Oh, oh, so can everyone wear a potato sack and like fuck your hair up. Yeah Um, I need everyone everyone to wear moomus. Yes Moomus. I got slippers out the door. Yeah, and that's the vibe and then I'll be dressed gorgeously Um, no, it just reads as like sadly just very a very insecure human Um, now what do we think this update is gonna be? Okay, here's the chaotic theory. I have okay OP double down and is like no look here's a picture of this person in the background look see and like me blurs their face or something Yeah, that could be that's the chaotic one because they did get an asshole verdict And that's got a hurt so they're gonna defend themselves maybe yeah, that is very possible I want an update from the 19-year-old. Yeah, and she's like I got let go from this job and it upended my life, but now I'm an animator for Walt Disney And he's back and he's back and I make a billion dollars I think it's one or the other. I think it's either it's OP doubling down and it gets worse and worse Maybe it could even be like to divorce levels where OP can't let this shit go And it snowballs into other shit. I could see that being a possibility I could see the 19-year-old being like hey, I found this post. This was from two or three years ago I'm like graduated college now and blah blah here's here's more to the story that people didn't know I hope that's like just really revealing how stupid the day was. I think it's one of those two. It has to be. I will be surprised if it's something else. If maybe it's like the husband updated it or like or or OP is like you know what I have learned from my ways and now I'm only ugly now. Now now I only ugly. Now I I got a no-stud and I love it and I respect everyone who has no studs. This episode of Reddit Stories is sponsored by ZockDock. We've all been there. That's zocdoc.com/pittreddit. Back to the show. Our update. Our update came in the comments of this story from a coworker of the server. >> Okay, close to one of us. >> Close to one of us. >> Probably even more valid because now this is someone who's like, I know this car. I saw this all happen but I am an outside perspective. All right, not gonna lie, this sounds like a story my coworker told me. After sending the post to my work group chat, I confirmed this is in fact the same wedding. And I have screenshots of the texts I got during the wedding. >> Oh, this is good. I got chooses. >> Joseph. >> We have receipts from the story. >> Joseph. >> Just to clarify some things I saw in the comment though. One, our uniforms changed depending on the weather. This was a daytime wedding in 90 degree heat, so lightweight long sleeve tops. Two, the wedding was a three and a half hour drive for most of us, so our usual team of 15 people was cut to nine. I wasn't there because the drive was too long and I'm not comfortable driving that far late at night. Three, she wasn't fired but she did have to leave early but that's not a bad thing because that means she didn't have to clean up after the wedding and still got paid. >> Okay. >> For jewelry is allowed at our job. It just has to be simple, which is what she had on simple jewelry and her engagement ring. >> Flashy rings. >> Oh, my goodness. >> That's the issue. >> She had an engagement ring, which is adjacent to getting married. >> Yeah, nobody at this wedding was allowed to be engaged. >> No. >> Or married. >> Not to break it off. And you have to swear to never get married in your life. >> That would be out shining her in the long run. >> Right. Exactly. Five, she was actually 18 and in high school. She can bartend supervised since she's 18. >> Okay. >> I didn't know those laws. Six, makeup is allowed. It just can't be crazy makeup. So, eyeliner specifically winged eyeliner, which is what she had on, is in fact allowed. Seven, we buy our own uniforms and our reimburse for the cost. She accidentally shrunk her pants and hadn't gotten a chance to get new ones. My co-workers and I are all laughing at this. OP seemingly left out the fact that one of the fathers kept flirting with the staff. Some of the guests got shit faced and tried to steal from the bar. OP's wedding planner walked into the kitchen at one point and almost broke down crying. And the groom and groom's been got way too high and left half smoked blunts all over the place. >> Whoa. >> So, wouldn't you know, they were all assholes. >> How about that? >> And how about that? >> And so, how about that? >> Wouldn't you know? >> You got to save your time. >> Oh my God. That's what you're doing. >> Yeah. That must have been real high. >> That must have been so high. >> So high. >> Man, wedding catering must be just a journey every day. >> Luke does that. >> Really? >> Every once in a while he'll do a little, little freelance moment. Every time I come to him, he's like, it was crazy out there. >> Yeah, it's always like a little war story. And I said, "Don't tell me about it." >> Oh my God. >> It's wacky. >> I don't know what happens to people at weddings. >> People put the most stakes on a simple day. Like, it's a big day, sure. >> Yeah. >> I think it's like, if you planned for two months to just come to work one day, like, let's take it from wedding to just another day, but you plan that long for one day. And something doesn't go right. You're gonna be like, "That's a blind day!" >> This the wedding day was supposed to be the best. >> The best. >> So it's like I got it, but it's also like the purge for assholes. >> Yes. >> Yes. >> Like, on this day, we get to do everything we want. >> Yeah. >> And nobody gets to tell us anything else. >> Exactly. >> Some comments here. Someone said, "The internet is vast and yet small at the same time. Tell your coworker we all say OP is the asshole." And someone said, "Wow, so the perfect wedding was not so perfect and OP needed to deflect." >> Ooh. >> There we go. >> Also, like, this wedding, this catering employee was a kid. >> Eighteen years old. >> That's a child. >> That's a child. >> That's a child. >> It's a child. >> Yeah. >> Do you know that clip? You guys know that clip? >> That's a child. >> And that's an ugly, pimply bitch. Do we know that clip? >> Do we know that clip? And that was OP. Well, embarrassing. >> Wow. >> Frankly. Also, was it the dad flirting with the staff? Yeah. >> Lock him up. >> Lock him up. >> Lock him up. >> Man, to make a wedding planner cry. >> Not to you. >> They've seen it all too. >> Yeah. >> So to be the worst wedding. >> There's supposed to be the most unbroken. >> Truly. >> Woof. >> Wild. >> The strongest of them. >> I don't think I could handle any job around a wedding. >> No. >> I don't think I'm built for that at all. I would crumble. >> Oh, just a loan having to deal with untoxicated, intoxicated people. In places where weddings, everyone's like, it's the place where you can meet people sometimes. Or maybe that's not. >> No, I think people think that. >> People think that. Is it true? Debateable depends on the wedding, probably. >> Yeah. >> But. >> Yeah, geez. Geez. Well, that's our first story. Time for our second one. >> Okay, that was a fun little like Dippy, Dippy, Dippy, Dippy, Dippy's in the wall. >> That's a nice update that just gives us clarity. Like it's nice when you get the full perspective on it. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> So it is so funny that the bride made this one employee, this one person at the catering company, seemed like the whole problem, the one problem. When it's like, honey, you had bigger storms coming. >> Yeah. >> [LAUGH] >> You guys seen that clip, you know that clip? >> Yeah, that clip. >> And do you know that clip? >> Do you see that clip, honey? >> All right, our next story was posted on relationship advice. We read this back in 2025. My coworker, an 18-year-old boy, put me, 22-year-old woman, on a hear me outcake and posted it online. Do I take action in some way? >> I was there, man. >> Take action. >> Do I take action? >> I was there, man. >> Do I kill him? >> This was such a diabolical story. Okay, do the thing, do the summary. So, this came from the episode three hot takes from July of 2025. It was you, Courtney, and our good friend, Morgan Appshar. >> Hell yeah. >> The summary of it goes, OP, 22-year-old woman, works at a diner as a waitress alongside John, 18-year-old boy. OP says they are friendly, but not friends. John invites OP to a group chat with other co-workers on Instagram. And OP says yes, the group chat is normal standard co-worker stuff. OP then sees that John posted a reel of him and his friends taking part in a hear me outcake. The entire cake is centered around fictional and animated characters until towards the end when OP's face is put on the cake. OP is the only real person on the cake and John remarks about how attractive OP is, and that he wished that he could hit that. But doubts he has a chance. OP feels super grossed out and violated. OP's sister says to take it like a compliment since someone thinks she's pretty. OP then asks Reddit if this issue should be escalated to higher-ups at the diner. Should she just ask him to take the video down? Okay, damn. I forget what we talked about on this one. I mean, it's gross, it's awful. >> Yeah, I remember a lot of discussion about workplace versus non-workplace sexual harassment. And if there's an HR for this diner, which doesn't sound like they would have the most prime of the prime HR situation, that was an interesting one. Because it's like we kind of are suspicious of like why would you invite her to a group chat and not expect her to see that video. And we were kind of sussed on like, did he do this on purpose? Like was he trying to get her attention? >> She's like he wants to. >> Yeah, I could see this is like a very dumb, young person thing to do. It's like, I'm going to post this and maybe they'll see it and I think I'm hot. I don't look, I'm not like, I don't know, workplace like, I think she should address it, like if she feels deeply uncomfortable and like have someone else at least if there's not an HR situation to at least like confront him and be like, hey dude. >> That was weird. >> That was fucking weird. >> Nothing's going to happen. >> Yeah. >> Just so you know. >> Also, life lesson now that you've done this, I certainly will not let you hit that. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Life lesson, don't do this again. >> Don't do this again. >> Yeah. >> This is not how to do it. >> To do it. >> All right, what do we think the update is? >> Okay, my gut reaction again. I want, I seem to always want the update from the other person. >> I want the update from this little Gremlin boy. >> You made this nasty little cake. >> And I want to hear how bad things are going for him. >> Yeah. >> I'm not animating for Walt Disney. >> Yeah. >> He's dead. >> He's dead. >> Did you know? >> Hey guys, I'm dead now. >> Now. >> I think, I don't know if I'm delusional or dreamed about updates of her DMing him being like, "Hey, this is weird," or talking to the manager. Maybe it was people saying, "Hey, you should go talk to the manager," or something. >> Yeah. >> But I'm hoping a third party got involved. That's what I want the update to be. >> Okay. >> That she doesn't have to deal with this herself. >> Yeah. >> I'm very brave if she did, but. >> You hope she has support. >> Yeah. >> And I'm hoping the world today that he, it's not going to stop there. That hill. >> There's hill be like, no, like, in order to impress a girl, I need to do more, I need to do what, like, if he's already bold enough to do that, like, is he going to say something to her face, or something at the workplace, which maybe then it'll be easier for her to go to HR, but you hope it doesn't happen. >> Yeah. I mean, it is so bizarre to be watching a hear me out, okay? It's like cartoon characters. >> It's like Thomas the Tank. >> Yeah. >> And then you see your face, enter the cake. Huh? >> I guess like the question, like, I would want to ask him, and it's like for so many moves that dudes do nowadays, just like, just asking a simple question of like, hey, do you think this is respectful? >> Right. >> Like, do you think this is respectful? >> Just screen that first. >> Just what it was. >> And then you know, he was just like, fax machine noise. >> Yeah. >> And. >> But. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> All right. It does make me think about when the hear me outcake thing was happening. The one that was funny, and I don't know if it was a sketch or not, and it was a bunch of girls putting stuff on the hear me outcake, and one of the girls puts one of the other girls dad. >> Yeah. >> She's like, that's like dad! And I'm like, that's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. >> She doesn't work with the dad. >> It's all, yeah. Now you're co-workers. >> Right. >> But. Okay. Also, nobody did hear me outcakes correctly. >> Nobody did. >> Let's move on from that. Nobody did it correctly. They were putting hot people on there. >> Also, what is that trend? What are we doing? >> I don't know what that was. That was some weird like, we were just coming out of our homes. >> We're just trying. >> We're stuck in our homes for a year, we're coming out, and we're like, hear me out. >> The cartoons. So we want to bang on a cake. >> Sure. >> Sure. >> It's going to be good. >> The only one I saw that I was like, okay, you understood is someone put the number eight. And I was like, that's it. >> You get it. >> Yeah. >> You get what this is. >> Yeah. >> You have to follow them down the road. >> Yeah. >> Exactly. >> Here is our update and it was posted 20 days later. >> Okay. >> So, hi, I don't know if this is how you do an update, but this is how I am doing it. So I screen recorded the video and sent it to my manager. We are on good terms and I was hoping that she would understand and we could rework the schedule so that I don't have him busing my tables and we won't have to interact. She said that this is very odd and maybe a violation of conduct. She told me not to stress about the details and that she would take care of it. I am very grateful with how seriously she took it. She had moved me around so that I will not have to see him as much and I only have a handful of times since then. He has avoided eye contact with me entirely. Once my manager was aware of the video, I DMed John on Insta saying, the video you made in which you put my face in a hear me out cake for social media is gross and unprofessional. We are co-workers, I did not green light being posted online and sexualized like that. I have talked with the manager about the situation and my discomfort and would like you to take the video down. You used my image without my consent. Ooh. Let's go mummy. Get a girl. Well done. That is an element I didn't think about like, I think in our industry and stuff, I don't think about like how invasive that is as a private individual is like, I'm not putting my face online. Right. You're doing it. They continue. He responded and apologized saying that he and his friends were drunk and that he made that video on a whim. He told me he thought I was cool and wouldn't have a problem with it. I thought you were cool. Saying your drunk isn't an excuse when you then are sober after and are looking at the video and you can delete it then. He said he would take it down but never once actually said sorry, just gave those excuses. It was deleted. He has been having to take an online course about sexual harassment and workplace misconduct or something like that. Something probably meaningless but at least it is slightly a pain in the ass. The only thing now is that he has bus boy buddies that side eye and kind of glower at me because of the action I took. On the bright side, they probably won't fuck with me like that. Anyway, thanks to anyone reading, I am not sure if anyone will see this but the comments on the last post were mostly helpful and I am grateful for the perspective that you guys provided. So thanks. Wow. Yay. She handled very well. Yeah, and really grateful of the manager took it seriously. Yeah. Kind of went above and beyond. I've read a lot about like sexual harassment cases and how it's not fair for the victim to have to be relocated to a different branch or having to take less hours. So like I hope that all of that happened in her favor and it sucks that the other guys are making it kind of hostile for her but like I feel like the fact that she felt brave enough to message him after talking to the manager. Like I think she felt like she was in a safe space and empowered to do that herself. Oh, I'm a person. Like good for her and I love that. I love that for her. Yeah. It's rare to read a story where a manager is like doing their job, like is managing, right? Yeah. I feel like everyone I know and every story I read about working at a restaurant or anything is just like, oh, and her fucking manager, like doesn't give a fuck, doesn't isn't on my side when a problem is actually happening. So it's nice when a manager is like doing the thing. And maybe this diner is like a chain so they have a little bit more of an established HR system. Maybe I don't know. I'd be great. I'd be great. Hey. But the managers to immediately believe her and immediately handle it. I was not expecting the sexual harassment course. Yes. That's cool. That's cool. That's cool. I want to believe. No, I mean, it's like, I agree with her of like it's at least a pain in his ass. Yeah. The fact that the other bus boys are like side-eyeing and stuff means most likely they're off-talking shit. Of course. And they're furthering their like, their weird little, their world and their view of things. But I'm happy for her. She handled it as best as she could. Yes, she did. And I know the sexual harassment training is the same thing as like, when you speed like in your car and they're like, you need to go to school instead of get a ticket. It's traffic school, yeah. And it's like, the website comes up and it's like, should you speed and it's like yes or no? So I know it's like, should I put my co-workers' lady face on this sex cake? No. Like, so I know it's not changing anything for him. Like I know it. Sure. You know how many sexual harassment tapes are like, are like courses that they have to take and do account like new, weird ways to harass people? Like, I know. Like, volume three. The Hume Outcake. Yeah. Imagine having to like, do you think like, that's crazy. And then, and then there's the actors that get to be in the weird little video clips. Yes. It's like, hey Sandra, you look great today. Wanna look at the cake? You're on it. You're on it. Okay, comments. The whole, it was some stupid drunk thing is such BS. He had to take so many steps to get your pick ready for that. You did the right thing and thankfully it's not like this is your forever job. Here's hoping he won't be such a jackass next time he's got a crush on someone. Some reply saying, yep, that's a lot of planning, screenshotting her Insta, downloading the image, ordering the cake, picking up the cake, videoing with the cake. Yeah, it's a lot. It's a lot of cake dealing with. It's a lot of steps. Someone said, I'm glad your manager took you seriously and I'm glad you stood up to him. No shocker he's making excuses instead of apologizing. He's young though, so hopefully he'll learn not to sexually harass any woman. Let alone a coworker. Also your sister is a pick me asshole. Oh, that's right. The sister said she should feel complimented. Yeah, which. Yeah, that's stupid. No, that's really dumb. That doesn't change the reality of what happens. Yeah, that's actually really dumb. Anyways. I wish I was on my cake. I wish I was on a here being on a here being out cakes also crew. It's kind of an insult. It's an insult too. Objectively was maybe designed because they're characters, usually cartoonish things. They're designed to not necessarily be hot, but it's like, wait, but maybe they are. Well, like something like the number eight, that's not at all. Like, wait, I never thought about this. Yeah, it's a sexualizing cake for sure. It can only be interpreted badly in kind of every way. Yeah. Yeah. Anyways. This episode of Reddit Stories is sponsored by Shopify. You know what I love? A tool. Would I be the asshole for suing my friend when she didn't come to my wedding? Is this the one where they go on vacation and she doesn't go to the wedding? Or it's like a destiny wedding? - Destination. - Destination. Oh, weddings are destiny wedding. - Destiny wedding. - Destiny wedding. I love this one because it's like, what are you talking about? - Oh yeah. - She's like, what do you mean? You flew me to Bali and I would go have fun. - Yeah. When someone's so delusional, it's iconic. - It's iconic. - Their story on Reddit. - Yeah. - You have to be a little grateful for it. - 100%. - So this story was on the episode "Getting Messy" with Mac. Does it, familiar this year with you and Mac? The summary of the story goes, OP, a 25 year old woman, recently had a destination wedding in Bali, Indonesia. OP and her husband paid for their friend's plane tickets and hotel stays for the wedding. Each plane ticket was about $2,000, and the hotel was around $150 to $300 for the week per person. OP's friend of 10 years, Gemma, brought along her newlywed husband, John, to the wedding in Bali. OP paid for Gemma's plane ticket while John paid for his own. The problem, Gemma and John didn't show up to the wedding. They take the free plane ticket and hotel room in Bali and do their own thing. - Well, it's their honeymoon, guys. - Guys, it's their honeymoon. - It's their honeymoon. - OP asks why they didn't show up and Gemma states that since they couldn't afford their own honeymoon, that this was the perfect opportunity. And also that John didn't feel like going to the wedding. - Oh, well, then it's fine. - Oh, let's find. - I'm remembering fully now, like this story is coming back to me. Oh my God. OP asked if she would be the asshole for taking Gemma to small claims court for the money spent on the plane ticket and hotel. Then there was an update. OP messages Gemma and invoices her for the cost of the plane and hotel. - I forgot about this. - Yes. - She invoices her for $2,387. Now she did that, I believe, thinking, oh, she's not gonna pay me that money, but I'm invoicing her to just set this all in stone, get it all in writing. She gives Gemma 30 days to pay and after that, OP said she would pursue legal action. OP doesn't hear from Gemma until Gemma sends back a three-page audit of financial and emotional contributions from 2015 to present. - She monetized her or like her friendship. - Yeah. - So she's like, so I gave you consulting hours when you were sad about like an ex a year ago, and that cost me about like $3,000. - So by the way, I was never your friend. I've been a professional this entire time. - Oh my God. - No, it's levels of delusion that you kind of have to respect. - This is why we watch reality TV. - I mean, yes, this is someone that you hope stays in your TV. - Yeah, you better ever want to know this person. - If they the ring out of the TV, like I'm not doing that. - Yeah, same TV. - The amount of people we are entertained by on reality TV that if you ran into in person, they were like, do you want to hang out? You'd be like, oh God, no. - Oh, please, never. - Jesus, no. - Some of the audits include every itemized dinner or lunch they had ever eaten together as friends, gas money for driving to and from hangouts, time spent emotionally supporting OP after her dad passed, emotional distress caused by OP threatening litigation and more. - I'm sorry, you really stressed me out by saying you're gonna sue me. You owe me $2,000. - The grand total of the audit comes out to $2,412, which means OP would own Gemma around 25 bucks. - That's so funny. - She's like, buy me a big Caesar salad. (laughing) - And we'll be fine. - And we'll call it even. - Hey, you owe me $2,000 for the plane tickets I bought you. That's really funny because you owe me like five Snickers bars. - Right, right. - That's crazy. - All right, what possibly could this update be? - Well, I hope they went to a small claims court. - Oh, which, Judge Judy, you know. - Oh, yeah. - This shit, oh, yeah. - Yeah, I mean, 'cause the substantial, like, reason why OP sued this friend is like, they invited this person and paid for this with the understanding that they would attend and there. So it's like, that was a lot of money that could have gone to someone else who would be there. - Yeah, got it. - Like, that is lost funds. - Absolutely. - Yes. - And like, the food for the wedding that was for her to eat, her husband to eat, like, that's, it's not cheap stuff. - No. - And yeah, I mean, to go, well, our friendship is one big wedding, really. To assume that her, their friendship and all these average things are quantified to the same. - Oh, ooh, I, like, I wonder how much OP saw this coming. Like, to have a friend, like, that friend, not friend. To, like, for them to throw all of this at her, I wonder if she was like, I knew Gemma was like, I don't know why I kept Gemma around all these years. - Gemma's good to have a cocktail with and that's it. - Yeah. - I'm like, I wonder if, like, hear me out. What if the update is, like, Lisa Vanderpump went? (laughing) - She's like, you'd be perfect. - No. - What's your accent? - Isn't she British? - Yeah, right. - You'd be perfect. - You'd be perfect for my restaurant. - No, it's like, oh, Gemma's the next Bachelorette. - Literally. - Literally. - Hmm. Gemma's on Love Island. (laughing) I am hearing that it gets crazy. - Okay. - All right. I think Gemma, I think they're gonna go to Small Claims Court. - For sure. - And I think Gemma is gonna be, it's gonna, oh, it's gonna, yeah. So this update came after we read the story. So in the recent months, sorry that I haven't updated in a while, I've been trying to get my ducks in a row before I proceed with everything. While doing that, I was going through photos from Bali and ended up on the Instagram page of a local photographer who took pictures of me and my husband during a sailing excursion we went on. I was scrolling through their page and looking at random groups when I saw a very familiar face. It was Gemma and a man, and it wasn't John. (screaming) You're telling me Gemma would stoop so low as to cheat? (laughing) Gemma are hero. (laughing) Gemma, our beloved protagonist, did not bring John. (laughing) That was good. It was a man I had never seen before. There were multiple photos, one where they were just sitting down with drinks, one with Gemma and the guy wrapping his arm around her and one of them kissing. That's when everything clicked. My wedding was the day after everyone landed, which is why I never saw her at all, not at the hotel, not around town, nothing. I just assumed that she was trying to lie low around town to avoid a confrontation with me. She didn't skip my wedding because John didn't feel like going or that my wedding ruined the illusion of the trip being their honeymoon. She skipped it because she wasn't there with John but with another man. (gasping) I can't help but, I'm starting to read this like Mori. - You really are. - And I'm like, I can't help another man. - Whenever it gets so juicy, I'm like, and she was cheating on her. - Bring her out. (laughing) - After seeing this photo of her and her a fair partner, I decided to do my own detective work. I went to her Instagram page and tried to see if I could find the guy's Instagram page in her following list or follower list, Nara. I tried to see if any guy that remotely looked like him was in her comments or likes. Nope, I felt defeated until I remembered about Gemma's small pottery Instagram account. And boom, I found him. Let's say his name is Ryan. Ryan had several photos that were taken in Bali on his page. He even had a photo of himself in the hotel room that I paid for. - Ooh. - I was, I was beyond pissed and just wanted to get my money back and just be done with Gemma altogether. On the day of our court date, I told my side, showed the judge the text messages and explained that I paid for her trip so she could attend my wedding and she didn't show up. Gemma claimed that the trip was a gift for her new marriage and not contingent on attending. I didn't even have to bring up the fact that she didn't bring John because the judge didn't buy Gemma's story. I was awarded the full amount back. - Nice. - Gemma walked out of the courtroom without even looking at me. I know she was pissed. And as expected, she went straight to Instagram and in this time, she didn't hold back at all. This is very bold of Gemma because she was actively cheating on her husband, like having a full affair in another country with this guy. And her excuse is that she was there with John. So, she's full, is it torch-dirt? Is that the phrase, or it's just like, we're just like scorch-dirt, scorch-dirt. Torch-dirt. Torch-dirt. 'Cause it's just like, oh, everything's wrong. So I'm just gonna go crazy. Yeah. Do you lose salad? Oh, do you lose salad? Come on, get the food. Unless her and John are broken up by this point. And then she can, whatever. Oh, and she can fuck off. Then she'll be like, yeah. She started posting about me on her story, calling me a bitch, saying that's why I can't have kids. Posting photos of me calling me fat, saying that she'll go spit on the grave of my dead grandmother. Oh, my God! You know, things that will get people to side with you. You're right. Right, right, right. You know, just diabolical mean girls. The last time she brought our drama to social media, I ignored it. But not this time. I know what I did next was stooping to her level, but I didn't care. I fucking murdered her. Stop! Stop! One of these days we're gonna read a story, and that's gonna happen. And we're gonna die. I'm writing this from jail. And I'm in jail now. I posted the photo of her kissing Ryan on my story and tagged her and John in it. Yes, babe! That's right, babe! Gossip girl! Mmm! Oh God! More, more! More! Every time, every time someone does that shit, it's the Antonio Benderes. Yep. Yep. I captioned it, sorry we missed you in Bali, hope you had fun. Within minutes, she began spamming my phone. She was calling texting, leaving voicemails, screaming at me. And before I blocked her on everything, I messaged her one last time. I said, "You should have just come to the wedding." Yeah! Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! Wow! Her phone explodes! Yeah! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Oh! That's awesome! Dude, that's good! What? You only dream of a moment where you can do something like that. Oh my God! It's like you already won the case. Like she's being bananas. It's like, "It's a warranted thing." That was a fun side quest. Wow! Awesome! Yeah, because she could have easily been like, "Wow, her saying these horrible things on her story, clearly, she's in the wrong, I don't need to worry about that." Yeah. But she went, "No! No, thank you! Actually, I didn't ruin your fucking life!" She and T! Uh-huh. Yeah. Yeah, she widely coyoteed her. Yeah. And the final update is wild, not the asshole. Glad you got justice. She was playing with matches and got surprised when her world burned. So and said, "Who else is here from Smosh looking for the newest update? It did not disappoint. Oh my." Wow! Oh my! Whoa! And that's you! And that's you! That's you guys. Oh my God! Um, man, I say this all the time, but like, I'm always blown away by the like, um, the boldness of so many people who cheat. Yeah. Like, I'm like, "Man, if you're gonna be evil, you gotta be smart at least, but like, to be evil and stupid, I'm like, that's just insulting." Yeah. Like, come on. You're going to Small Claims Court over the trip that you had an affair on him with. Yeah. Like, you know this is gonna snowball at you. Yeah. It's like, you know Aliens, Aliens guy, but with affairs, anyway. Wow! Oh! Absolute bananas. That's awesome. God. Powerful. Delicious. I feel like I just ate a second breakfast. - Yes. - Okay. - Thank you. - That had to be very satisfying to just post that, get all this stuff, be like-- - (humming) - Yep, we're like-- - It's done. - Get on the fair. - (humming) - Yeah. - Should have gone to the wedding. (laughing) - That's like crazy. And then like, under your seatbelt and jump from the car. - Yeah! - (groaning) - Yo! - Oh God. All right, our next story was posted on "Am I the Asshole" back in December of 2024. "Am I the Asshole" for just deciding not to travel because my wife made reservations for Disney again. I remember this one. This was on putting relationships to the test. We read this back in February of 2025 with Ian and Amanda. OP, who's 39, and his wife Jess, who's 39, have been married for the past 13 years. OP and Jess have the means to be able to travel once or twice a year. The problem, Jess wants only to go to Disney World. They have been to Disney nine times now, including during their honeymoon. OP is fully sick of Disney. While planning their trip for April, OP proposes to try somewhere new like Hawaii. Jess gets confused and walks away. Days later, Jess tells OP that she's made hotel reservations for Hawaii. At first, OP is excited until he realizes she made reservations for Alani, the Disney resort in Hawaii. OP tells Jess he's tired of Disney and wanted a different experience for this trip. Jess tells OP that she was compromising with OP and that he should appreciate the time she spent. OP then says, "If it's Disney again, I'm not going to go." Jess cancels the reservations and starts to find a friend to go to Disney World with in place of OP. She said, "Ear nine, you're a cop." No, she said, "Oh, you're done." "I'm going to the door." "Gorj, you know, Disney." OP asks Reddit if he was the asshole. We then get an update from OP, where he starts by acknowledging that he screwed up. To OP, Jess showed a great deal of openness to his idea by booking the hotel. OP also notes how Alani barely looks like a Disney resort at all. OP apologizes and asks Jess if she still wants to go to Alani. Jess and OP replan their vacation and all seems well. We then get another update three weeks later. Turns out OP and Jess won't be going to Alani because Jess got into a minor car accident by backing into the garage door. Jess is taken to the hospital and seems fine, but the doctor says based on her symptoms, she could have whiplash. Two weeks later, Jess is still citing back pain. She approaches OP and says that she wasn't confident she could go to Hawaii in a few months. - I remember this. - She asks to postpone the trip and OP agrees. After that, she said she felt bad about not being able to go to Hawaii, but she might be able to make it to Disney World. - Well, oh my God. - Oh my God. OP doesn't understand at first, but then Jess says there's a lot of accessibility and she could take it easy there. OP agrees putting Jess's health first. So this one ends fully in that place of, all right, somehow we've worked our way back around to Disney World. Which Disney World is one of the most like, I love Disney World. - It's intense. - It's agonizing. - It's agonizing. - My back hurts at the end of like Disney World. - It's a city. - It's fully a city. - She's in the drive-by, she's like. - She did on purpose. (laughing) - No. - No, no, you're. - It's hard not to like think that it's like, okay, did you plan all of this? - I'm going to Disney World. - No, no, no, no. - All right. (laughing) - It's dude like, yeah, like I said, there's some vacation spots that I love, but like, you gotta, like compromise is also saying, like okay, we get to do, what are your dream spots? What are my dream spots? We'll do both, but Disney nine times in a row. - Yeah. - When your partner's not jazzed about that. - If your partner's not jazzed about it, it's not, you shouldn't. - 'Cause there's also nothing wrong. I know a lot of people who like, they go to the same spots all the time, and that's what they love, and that's fine, 'cause they both like it. - Like it. - But OP, all he asked for was, can we just do something different? - Something, literally anything else. Also, to say, I compromised by booking these Hawaii tickets. It's like, no, compromising is, you gotta have the conversation and find an agreement together, not just changing your decision. - And it sounds like the compromises, we're gonna go to Hawaii this time. - Right. - Like the compromises, we will return to Disney World at some point 'cause I love it, but you love this, and so I'm gonna compromise like, it's just, yeah. - It's a situation, and it's sad when people are in relationships like this, where he is, he has to fit into her life. - Yes. - Like, this is her life, and he is in it, but they're not, as a couple, sharing their lives. - Yeah, he's her hidden Mickey. Oh, whoa. Damn, that was good. - That was cool. - All right. - You ever think of that? - So. - Unfortunately, with this update, I think the only possibility that I'm seeing, 'cause she seems so determined to stay in her ways, that I think he's probably, it's probably gonna result in him leaving. - I mean, he's 13 years together. That's so tough. - No, but I don't know. - I think the update's just gonna be like, hour two in the space mountain line. Yeah, she's happy. - Yeah. I'm afraid, and I think I felt this one, the story was first read was that, whether or not she drove into the garage purposefully, or like, it was all fake, and there was no doctor's appointment in the whiplash, and her being like, yeah, I'm afraid that in a few months, I won't be able to go to Hawaii is kind of crazy. I mean, to, I understand being like worried, but saying. months from now to claim that and to postpone the trip is just feels a little. - It's also, it's also, maybe I can't do Hawaii, but to be like, but I can do Disney World. - Which is, to not say, let's find another place that isn't Disney World, but isn't Hawaii. Like, I don't know where they live, but there are vacation spots kind of everywhere. - Everywhere. - And you can find, it's like, if I were him and like, if I wouldn't do this, 'cause I'm not in this type of situation, but like, if he wanted to manipulate her back, and be like, well, no, you're not good for Disney World, so we should find something easy that's local. Like, that's, but she's gonna be like, no, no, Disney World's actually like perfect for me. - No, it's not, like, she wants to put money and frickin' Walt Disney's pockets so bad. - Yeah, but she, we're total results in paying that girl who's an animator for him. - Yeah, yeah, about 19-year-old? - Yeah, 19-year-old, that's nice. All right, let's get into this update. - I say rice, I think I just said rice. - Hey, dude, that's rice. - Dude, that's so rice. - Sorry. - All right, this update came after we read the story. So long story short, last week Jess overplayed her hand. Even before that, I found her recounting of the car accident and the extent of her injuries suspicious. When she doesn't know I'm watching, she moves normally, we'll pick things up off the floor and generally seem perfectly healthy. When she sees me nearby, she exaggerates every movement, holds her lower back and limps. So you were, so it wasn't even that she actually drove into the car and she just fully, oh man, that's cool. Well, on Saturday, Jess approached me saying that she wanted to move. This made no sense. We had so little money throughout our 20s and early 30s and now we're financially well off solely because I finally have an amazing job in our area. Jess said she understood this, but she argued that she wanted to live closer to her parents. She asked me to move to Orlando with her. - No! No! You're getting locked up in the tower! (laughing) - So first off, her parents do not live in Orlando. - That's awesome. - They live in Atlanta, which is smack dab right in between where we currently live and Orlando. Atlanta is at least seven hours away from Orlando. (laughing) At least, Florida's this long. - Yeah. - Orlando's down here. - Jess cited there being more flight options and then she tacked on that she may have a job opportunity in Orlando. By the way, Atlanta has the biggest airport in the United States, so that's a lie. - Right. - The most flight options are in Atlanta. - Yeah, so got her, yeah. - My dad was a pilot, I know that fact. - Okay. - It's like the only thing I know. (laughing) He would talk about, he'd start talking about flying, I'd be like, I'm sorry, Adam Bord. (laughing) Sorry, no, I'm just kidding, bye bye. - He's getting easy. When I asked her to show me the job, she showed me a $16 an hour sales associate position for a sector where she has absolutely zero knowledge and experience. I'm not proud of this, but I snapped. I told her she just wanted to move closer to Disney World that she was tearing our lives up so she could go take pictures with Disney princesses and that she was a horrible wife. (gasping) - Gorge, yeah. (laughing) - Oh! - Gorge! - Long live the King. - Yeah. - You're a terrible wife. (laughing) Jess denied this naturally and she told me that she's moving to Orlando with or without me because her parents need her. After this-- - What? What? - Girlie, you're living in your own fantasy. You don't need to go to Disney to-- - No. - Like, Jesus Christ. - After this, Jess went to her room and started listening to Disney music with the volume at max singing along. - This can't be real. - I listened to her rendition of Let It Go more times than I can count. Maybe it refers to me here. (laughing) Damn. (laughing) - That rocks. - That was pretty good. - Maybe I'm it. - The next morning she told me that she was moving to Orlando with or without me and said that if I want to be a piece of shit husband, I can just stay where I am. I'm going to just be a piece of shit husband. I've tried to deny the obvious because it would make Jess happy, but I can't anymore. I just want to be alone. I wasn't responding to your comments, but they've helped me more than you can know. Thank you to everyone who posted. - I have a feeling this is probably, this is one of those stories I think it's so much worse than what we're getting. Like we're getting the Disney story. The fact that in the first, I remember thinking this, in that first story, when you're reading it and you're just going, she's ridiculous. Like what is this? But after all the comments go, no dude, we're all on your side, this is ridiculous. He goes, actually no, we've talked it out and we've figured out a compromise and we're talking about it. I'm like, oh man, like you've lost reality. I think she's going to be shocked when he doesn't go with her. I think she's gotten her way for so long. I have a feeling honestly after two Disney trips, he was already ready to go somewhere else and he went nine times because he was like, well, it makes her happy. - Yeah, that's, it's brutal to be in that place, but I'm, and it's never too late to get out of something like that. Comments, Jess has truly reached the ultimate level of Disney Obsession. Moving just to be closer to Disney World, we stand a committed fan. Oh, he says, yes, I'm a fucking idiot for going along with it this long. I just wanted her to be happy. Someone said, let her go, let her go. With like the, with like a long go. Like, they're like, they're writing up the song. - Go. - I'll get copy, I'll get copyright struck. - Oh, sing it. - So I'm so good, 'cause I'm-- - Yeah, you're so good. - People say I'm, people based to say I'm the Adina Maza, I'm the Adele de Zimov. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - I remember the name. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Opie responded saying, "Dude, please." And she kept delivering that, "The cold never bothered me anyway." Line in such a caddy way. Like, bro, you're moving to Florida. It's the end of January. And it's 71 fucking degrees there. I mean, that's, that's a good reason to go to Florida. - I mean, it's possible. It's possible she was just playing the music to piss him off. - Oh, sure. - You know what I'm saying, singing it, they're just to piss him off. Not because she's actually in her feelings. Like, it could go either way. Yeah, she needs therapy so bad. - Yeah. - He's doing all he can. Like, she was never gonna listen to him at all. - No. - It's sad when you hear someone talk about a relationship or you read a story like this. And it's like, "Oh, reason is not gonna work here." - No, she faked an injury. - Yeah. - She pretended to be hurt for months. - Yeah. - That's crazy behavior. And I mean, good for him that he's got like a good job. And she, if they end up breaking up and really separating, like, he's gonna be okay. - Oh, he'll be. - He's gonna be okay. - He'll be fine, 100%. - And she'll be comforted by Cinderella. And. - Yeah. - And she like, nope. She doesn't have to go to Hawaii. She's got Japan and America and Paris and Mexico. - All right. Time for our next story. - Wow. - I forgot about that one. - That was crazy. - That is delusional level that is. - Delulu salad? - That's delulu salad. - Our next story comes from wedding shaming. A lot of weddings. This was posted in June of 2025 and it reads, wedding date changed last minute to a weekday in another state. - Oh my God, this one. Oh my God. - It's good. - Wait, is this nightmare woman, the email thread? Hey, thanks, her? - Yeah. - No way. - So when we did on Smoshpit Theater? - Yes. - This is the, hey, by the way, the wedding planner has been exiled to a different state. (laughing) We have hunted her for game. You will be taking a plant back home. - Yes. - So make sure that you, yep. Oh my God. - Okay, this came from the episode, 2025's worst person posted in December of 2025 with Amanda and Angela. So Tommy, you're obviously familiar with this because you performed a truncated version of this in Smoshpit Theater, dramatic readings of reddit stories. - So fun. - So if you are not familiar with this story, you have multiple episodes of stuff to watch, to catch up on it. Here's the summary. This was a series of emails from a bride to her bridal party. It starts off by stating that the wedding ceremony will be on Friday in Oregon and the reception would be the next day in Washington. The bride asks the bridesmaids to buy a new yellow dress for the ceremony and to keep the gray dress they already purchased for the reception. A bride's maid, who is also a relative of the groom, responds to the bride's email, expressing her surprise and disappointment at the last minute changes and how between the extra hotel stay needed and day off of work, she and her husband can't afford the extra day. Bride responds with, "Let's be respectful and take this offline, please." And leaves a passive-aggressive reminder for everyone else to contact the wedding planner with any concerns. So as not to spam everyone's inbox, K-thanks. K-thanks. It's a passive-aggressive. Oh, yeah. It's awful. It's so bad. Next email, "Wedding planner is gone," which is a good omen. [LAUGHTER] "OP and her husband are too quirky to fit into a box." There are not enough chairs, so guests are encouraged to come early. The wedding is also now child-free and guests are asked to plan accordingly. Good evening. bags will feature a plant, so if you're traveling internationally, please plan accordingly. Bridesmaids over five-five have to wear flats instead of heels. Makeup is $300, and if you're a bridesmaid who wants to be in photos, you have to get it done. For reception day, everyone will start getting ready at 6.45 a.m. at the Airbnb, and groomsman won't have anywhere to get ready, but since they basically just need ties, this is no biggie. Hey boys. Hey boys, you guys are sloppy anyways. Who cares? Bride follows up with, if you are not there on the 28th by 7 a.m., you will not be let in, to ensure things run on a timely schedule. Nobody wants a repeat of the batch. Right. I remember us being like, "What happened now?" Yeah, dear God. It could only have been a nightmare. Brides sends another email stating that there will be no more speeches. Additionally, only Catholic bridesmaids and groomsmen are permitted to stand with people during the ceremony. The bride also asks every member of the wedding party to chip in $650 for expenses. And then states, "If you don't drink, we gently suggest you seriously consider whether or not you really want to come to the reception. It only takes one wet blanket to snuff out everyone's fire." God damn. Hey man, break your sobriety. For my wedding, ruin your life. Another email comes in, "Hey ladies and hymbeos." (laughter) Hey ladies and hymbeos, asking for help getting a wedding cake. And finally, the thread concludes with a statement from the bride addressing the individuals no longer participating, saying that they, Opie and her husband, will remember who stood with them and who didn't. So she gives them all these reasons why it's like, "Hey, don't come if this isn't this." And then if they heed that, she goes, "Well, you betrayed me." All right, what do we think the update is? Oh God, yeah, because we're like, "What is that wedding going to be?" It can only be bad. I mean, it's already just sounds awful. I really just want to hear about how the wedding went. Because it sounds like a nightmare. Yeah, did anybody go to have it? I need to know about, yeah, I need to know about the wedding, but I bonus if we hear about the batch. Oh, hopefully we hear about the batch. I'm assuming four people went to the wedding? Yeah. Like, any other sane person would go, "So, I'm spending $4,000 for your wedding." You're right. What are you talking about? Yeah. Yeah. We're having fun here. Let's see what this update is. Oh my God. I just want information. Update in the comments, we found out what happened at the batch. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! From OP who posted the photos. So the Bachelorette party, as I understand, I wasn't copied on most of those communications, came about because the bridesmaids assumed they wouldn't be expected to throw a party considering the wedding itself was such a personal expense to them. Fair. Smart. They were wrong and the bride completely lost it when she realized no one had planned anything. At the bride's insistence, the bridal party threw a destination Bachelorette party, with barely a week's notice, also in free and requiring $500 per person to participate, not including food. They also organized a counterpart for the groom's men, but no one was willing to travel or pay so no one came. Two bridesmaids came. One had no choice but to bring her young kids because she's a single mom and had no notice. The bride bitched her out for it even though she made the trip to try and support the bride. The kicker is, initially, all the bridesmaids assumed the party was going to be near the wedding locale. So the hotel and activities were booked under the pretense that everyone was coming. When details became clear, most said they couldn't make it so the two bridesmaids and the bride were stuck with the bill. The two bridesmaids couldn't have covered the other shares if they wanted to. It was also supposed to be some kind of B-Y-O-B slash potluck situation so they ran out of food and drinks almost immediately. So the bridal party was basically a big, expensive waste of time for the bride and she's still heated over it. Oh my god. Your life is really what you make it sometimes. Oh really? Like obviously we are born into situations but it's like, it's just goddamn, I can't even put it into words. Do you know what I mean? When a person, she made it so hard for herself and for everyone else and then blamed everyone else. I wonder if, yeah, I wonder if similar to people who end up in bad relationship, you know how for some people getting cheated on is like, oh, it awakened me to what relationship I deserve, everything. I wonder how many people end up at weddings like this with the shittiest bride or groom. And they go, I really need to start evaluating my friendships and who I'm friends with before it, you reach the wedding. Because if you reach a wedding and you're a bridesmaid for someone who's this awful and you pay the price for supporting this person, you're just like, damn, what am I doing? Because it's not like, oh, she was actually the sweetest person of all time until the wedding. It's like, no, I lead out that. Yeah. I'm like, you know she's awful to baristas and waiters. Like you just something. Yeah, and that sort of feels like, yeah, I feel like what I had said doesn't make sense. The, the, your life was what you're making. So. No, I think you said it better. No, I also agree with what you're saying that weddings are supposed to be like, it's supposed to be the most, no, like weddings are for many people. They think it's supposed to be one of those special days of their lives, but it's special because of the people that you're there with, not because of the event itself. But for people like her, for absolute assholes, I do think it becomes like the absolute burning bridge day where like, there is probably before the wedding and after the wedding where it's like, oh, and now I have far less relationships in my life. It's like, you don't want your most special day to be a nightmare for everyone else. Like that sucks. Like, you want it to be special for kind of everyone. Yeah. And that's the day you're throwing a party. That's all right. Celebrate yourself, but it's still a party. So you still want everyone to be happy. Yeah. Also. Yeah. The groom. Nothing to say. [Laughing] Gone. Big guy goes, yeah, she's crazy. Yeah, truly? Yeah, well, love that lady. That's what it's giving. Love that lady. When the bride writes, hey, girls and hymbos. Lady hymbos. Lady hymbos. Lady hymbos. I feel like we already know that guy. That guy's over there just like, for sure. Yeah. For sure. For sure, drool. Yeah. Just like that. He's got a football at all times. Of course. Um, comments. The fact that she still has bridesmaids is absolutely insane to me. Some responded, honestly, I'd stick it out at this point if I could just to see the rest of the shit show firsthand. Yeah. I would, but you're gonna be paying so much money. Yeah. It's not a free ticket to a country. I'll do it for free. I'll do it for free, but not for money. Someone said, how do people like this have friends and I who would be ashamed and horrified to make even one of these requests of others struggle as an adult to make friends? I don't think the brides, the bride does not have friends. She has people who are terrified of her. Yes. Who like, they're not, they don't act like it's, this is not a healthy friendship, right? Like if you're, I, I understand a lot of people feel that they have a hard time making friends, but that's because you're a respectful person. And you're trying to find actual, deep, meaningful friendships and that's, that's not always easy. Oh yeah. I feel like a, a friend, friend would be like, hey babe, so you're, this isn't okay anymore. Yeah. So first thing we're gonna get rid of the plan, okay? We're gonna get it. That's, that's easy. We're gonna start easy with the plan. We don't need the pothos. Okay, thanks. Okay, thanks. Okay, thanks. You think? Yeah. Yeah. Thanks, bimbos and hymbos. Lastly, someone said, I wonder who the two bridesmaids are. I feel so sorry for them. Yeah. Yeah, they really stuck it out. They really, like I'm, and when like, that, I'm like, add a lot of words with this one because it's, I think because I've been, I've been to a few weddings now as an adult and have been a bridesmaid a couple times now. You really are showing up for a person. Totally. And it is like a, it is a very special day for the bride. But it's also like, they said that they invited all these people over and just assumed that all of them could attend. And we're banking on them being part of the budget of the wedding. And then when they realized that wasn't the case, they had to make all these changes and made it everyone else's fault. Yeah. Like, even in the wording and just her language, it's like, if this is how she talks to people every day, it's like how you said, she's mean to service workers, she makes everything, as she- That's my assumption. I mean, that's the tone that it's giving me. Yeah, it's a hard, I have a hard time believing like, oh, you're only being awful in regards to your wedding. Yeah. Yeah. I do not believe weddings are an excuse to get rid of your humility, like, at all. There's a time a person that her flight gets canceled and other people are pulling out their phones to see how she's reacting. You know what I mean? Oh, yeah. Yeah. She's causing a scene. That's a good one. All right. It is time now for our final story, our final update. This story was posted on "Am I the asshole back in August of 2024?" And it reads, "Would I be the asshole for telling my son to wear not his favorite jacket anymore because it looks gay?" This story took him- Oh. The amount of react pictures I see of me right there go -Yeah. Overlaid with me from "Smoshpit" going. [ Laughter ] -That's what it's like. -The amount -- I'll be scrolling through, like, TikTok or Instagram or something, and I'll pull up a video of this. And someone's then overlaid, like, sweet music onto it. -Oh, God. -And I'm, like, I don't have a media, like -- [ Laughter ] Get out of here. -If you are listening or watching this, and you've not heard this story, it is from the "Remember, Sticks and Stones" episode. From March 2025 with Tommy and Damien. And this story, a spoiler alert, made me cry, like, no other story on this show. -Yeah, I cried also. I believe. -I had to just -- power through it. -Power through it. -Sobsity. -Yeah. Here's the summary. O.P. is a single dad to his son, Oliver, who's 10. Oliver is an awesome creative kid, full of energy and has his own sense of style. He loves bright colors, nail polish, and clothes that some people might think are more. Early. Because of how he dresses and acts, O.P. notes how Oliver has had a tough time with other kids. Oliver was bullied so bad, O.P. pulled him out of school and homeschooled him for a bit. At a recent birthday party, Oliver wore a bright pink sparkly jacket he loves. Some other kids started to pick on him, saying he looked gay. O.P. gets the kids to apologize, but it ruined the day for Oliver. On top of that, Oliver is returning to public school in September. And while Oliver is excited, O.P. is worried he'll be bullied more. O.P. states his frustration. He doesn't know if he should ask Oliver to tone it down or not. He doesn't want Oliver to change who he is, he just hates seeing Oliver get hurt. After many supportive comments, O.P. posts an update. Over the summer, he and Oliver had an important heart to heart. O.P. tells Oliver how proud he is for the person he's becoming and that there's nothing Oliver could do that would make O.P. love him any less. O.P. tells Oliver that while he'll always be there for him, he may not always be around to protect him, and that Oliver may have to stand up for himself if kids make fun of him. They spend the summer working on comebacks and making sure Oliver feels confident for school. At school, Oliver makes a new friend named Sam and things seem to be going well. Oliver and Sam set a play date, but when he's picking out his clothes, Oliver gets nervous about how his new friend will react to full Oliver. O.P. tells Oliver to wear whatever he wants, and if this friend is worth being friends with, then they will accept Oliver for exactly how he is. The play date goes great, and O.P. tells Oliver how proud he is of him and how proud he is that Oliver is so brave to be himself. O.P. then writes a very heartfelt message to Oliver, stating that if he sees this post to know that his dad is so proud of him, how he's so lucky to be his father and that he loves him. Yeah, that part we started in and I was like, oh. It's because it's written as like talking about my son, my son, and then all of a sudden it just shifts to and Oliver if you read it. And it's like, oh. I remember everything. He's like, he's like Oliver. And I was like, I got to stop for a second. Like, yeah. I got to focus. I have like water in my eyes and it's like that was thinking about it. That was just the summary. Yeah, no, I'm not thinking about it. All right. There's something about like a proud dad. Do you remember we were at a meet and greet a couple years ago and a dad came up to us and was like, oh, like thank you guys so much. Like, I love watching Smosh with my daughter. I'm talking about it right now and I'm like, yeah. I mean, he was talking and I turned to Spencer. I go, I was like, this guy's got a shut up, dude. I can't. I can't fucking not see what this really brought my family together. No, I have to go away to bond with my daughter. Shut up, shut up. You got it. You got to stop, man. You got to stop, dude. I walk up, put my hand on his chest. You got to fucking stop. Just. All right. And now, let's see what happens when I read this update. An affair. Yeah, so actually, Oliver doesn't exist. I'm cheating on my wife. I would be like, all right. All right. So this update was posted in March of 2025. A while ago. Okay. And it was posted on the Smosh subreddit. Whoa. What? And OP writes, Smosh read out my story this week. Thank you to everyone who has been sending positive vibes me in Oliver's way. Wow. I listened to the Smosh Reddit videos every week while driving. But I never expected my post to be on there. I watched halfway through the episode when it first came out, like literally within 10 minutes of it being posted. But didn't get to my story and only just finished the episode. I'm amazed by the response from all those at Smosh. Shane Tommy and Damien, thank you for reading my post. It was, let's take a breather. Let's talk about that for a second. Yeah. Thank you for reading my post. It was so touching when you started to tear up. It made me cry all over again. I really, really appreciate it. Thank you for all of those on this subreddit sending positive vibes Oliver's way. He's doing great, by the way. Great. And it doesn't end there because OP also left a comment. Okay. That is even longer than that. Oh, Jesus. All right. Here we go. Get ready. Yeah, I can handle this. OP writes, "I've touched on this a bit before, but I have had to learn so much since I've had Oli. No one ever gives you an instruction manual on how to properly raise a kid, you know? Growing up, I was popular, sporty, and conformed to gender norms. When Oli was born, I don't know. I just expected him to be the same. It doesn't matter to me. And I would always support him no matter what he does or who he loves. Having to go through him being bullied, being depressed, and actually telling me he wishes he wasn't alive at eight to nine years old was the hardest thing I have ever gone through. Despite all that, Oli never stops being himself. And I am so glad Reddit talked me out of telling him to tone himself down. Oli is now doing great, he's popular, has an experienced any bullying. And most importantly, to me, he's happy. And he hasn't had to change himself at all to get this. People are saying Oli is lucky to have me as his dad, or wrong. But I am so lucky to have him as my son. Someone's so self-confident, he's my. Just like, come on. - Dude! - Dude! - Dude! - Dude! - Stop it! - Stop it! - Stop it! - Stop! - He's listening to this video! - I know, but he's got to stop! He's my amazing little man, and I can't wait to see the person he grows up to be. Whatever it is, I just know he's going to change the world. - Oh! - Oh my God! - Opie, I know if you're listening and you're watching this, I love you, but you got to stop. - You got to stop! - You're too sweet and tender to listen to this video. - You're too sweet, you're too kind. - Oh my God! - Oh my God! - Damn! - That's wonderful to hear this. - This is all I'm great spot, and you know, he's thriving. - I'm really glad to hear that, because like, he is so. The dad is so great, all he sounds so great. School sucks, and kids suck, and it just sucks. So I'm so glad it's like, wow, everything's going really well. They deserve that. - He has no idea his impact on this dad. - Oh my God. - To be able to say those things to him, even just like the little thing of like, "Hey, this friend, they're worth being friends if they are cool with you. If they aren't cool with you, then they're not worth being your friend." - Yeah. - That is a building block for a kid. - Totally. - And he's now got this confidence that is probably infectious. To other people in school, and like, that is a positive light that is spreading. - Absolutely. - Parents, in general, don't realize their impact sometimes. - Totally. - One way or the other. I'm like, yeah, that kid is lucky to have this. - And sometimes to other parents, too. It's like, there might be a more kind of, you know, blocked up kind of dad who's hearing this dad be like, "I expected my son to be, you know, a football jock star." And when he wasn't that, I embraced him because he's my son, and I love him, and he's happy, and that's all that mad. It's like, you know, some guy just might need to hear that and go, "Why am I being so weird about my gay kid?" - Right. And just like, you know, going to Reddit is one thing. But like, just being open in general. - Yeah. - That's what this dad did was open to the idea of what should I do. - Yeah. - And luckily, the choice he made was the best one. - Absolutely. I certainly believe that if this is how he's writing on Reddit, I also can only assume this is how he's talking to his like friends and like how he messages this all the time. And that's how he's talking to Ollie and stuff. And it's important, like, the fact that he put this on Reddit, I'm sure his original post like affected other people immensely, too. And I hope by us like reading this story, it reached even more people. Like, that's so important, you know. And we've read a lot of comments and stories from people who like share wisdom like that. And it's so, so important, you know. Because I wish this guy was more the like norm, but he's not. And so I think it is important for him to say this stuff. Because yeah, hopefully other dads hear this. Other moms and other parents and take it to heart. - And other closeted kids. - And yeah, absolutely. - I could be like, oh, this is an option. - Yeah. - I know we're in the sense, "Shins, I came out of this closet." It's a different world now. - Sure, sure. - And it's also a worse world than other ways. But yeah, I remember being scared to come out. Because I'm like, oh, my parents are going to launch me into space. They're going to kick me out of the home. And so I was so scared. And then when I came out and they were like, okay, why are you freaking out? Why are you being so crazy? More stories like this would, you know, help me feel easier to do that. - Totally. - Yeah. - Totally. Man, wow. - What a gorgeous, beautiful little. - Beautiful, gorgeous dad. - Yeah. - And beautiful. gorgeous family. -Thanks. -Thanks for that once. -Thanks, Dave. -Thank you for the opportunity. -We'll not be launched into space. Thank you. [ Laughter ] -Call off the launch. [ Laughter ] -Why were we going to launch them in the first place? -I don't know. -Don't know. -Because he was making me cry. -Put the Gors girl back in. [ Laughter ] -Gors girl and bride. -Yes. -Gemma, Gors girl, bride. [ Laughter ] -Three. -I want -- I do want Disney girl and Gemma to hang out. -Yes. -Yes. -Why not? -They drank around the world in Epcot. They're going to. -All of them. -Alas. -Ooh! -Yeah. -Oh, man. Well, thank you both for being on this journey with me today. -This was awesome. -Walking down memory lane and then moving forward from memory lane. -Yeah. -Feels like I've watched a bunch of sequel movies today. -Yeah. -Yeah. -Well, it's really cool. -Man. Um, well, well, that's it. And thank you all for watching and listening to all of our episodes. But this one also. And we'll see you next Saturday. Goodbye. -Thank you. -With my love you, thank you for the update. Thank you for the update.
