290: Unexplainable Reddit Stories.. Ft Damien Haas

The episode explores a range of paranormal and supernatural experiences through personal anecdotes, listener stories, and folklore. It begins with a lighthearted yet meaningful connection to pumpkins, expanding into deeper themes of ghostly signs, such as blooming roses after a relative's death and a hummingbird sighting that offered emotional comfort. Paranormal events like unexplained doorbell alarms, a dancing man with a wide smile, and sightings of gnomes in forests are shared with a mix of skepticism and wonder. The conversation delves into the psychological and cultural aspects of these experiences, including how people interpret signs, whether they are real or symbolic, and the role of mental health and belief. A particularly intense case involves a fiancée who claims to hear her late grandmother’s voice, raising concerns about possession or psychological distress. The episode also introduces the concept of hallucinogenic mushrooms that cause visions of tiny beings, and explores cryptids like gnomes with roots in global folklore. While many stories are framed as eerie or unexplained, the host emphasizes that even if the phenomena aren’t proven, they can provide emotional comfort and meaningful connections. The tone balances skepticism with openness, encouraging listeners to remain curious, respectful, and mindful of their own boundaries—whether in dealing with the afterlife, personal fears, or the unexplained. The narrative ultimately celebrates the human desire to find meaning in the strange and the unknown.

Are you ready? - Yes. - Ah! You're helping me kick off spooky seasons. - I'm so excited. I love this by the way. - Welcome to the pumpkin patch, everyone. - Hell yeah. We are your pumpkin conductors. - I love knowing that you love a pumpkin. Like when Bailey said, "Damien loves pumpkins." - I really do. - Thank God because I didn't even know that, and then I went crazy. - I feel so happy to be here. Little pumpkins on my socks and that part wasn't even planned. They were just the socks that I grabbed. - This is just so meant to be. - It really is. - I genuinely think we have some audience members, listeners out there who are psychic too, because on the episode that came out not even a week ago, someone Maria of Magdala said, "I smell a Damien episode in the future." - Oh, ho, ho. - And I was like, "How?" Did you know that? - It's the crisp autumn wind. The one that chills you as you walk by a graveyard. (laughing) It's the same one he's near. - How did you know though? - The crow called Thrice is the tree faces North, and that's how she knows. - I'm like, she must be clairvoyant or something, because who sure you are. - Got that pattern recognition? Yeah, I wasn't even meant to be here. I just like sneezed and woke up here, and I was like, "What the hell?" - I know. Maybe possessed by one of today's demons. - Ooh, demons and ghouls. - Yeah, we were getting into a bunch of paranormal, a bunch of let's not meet, just like odd encounters. And I have had a few different paranormal experiences, one in Palm Springs where I was like going to bed, and I kept hearing like pitter-patter of feet on the tile floor. - But it should only be described for happy children and little cats. - It was horrible. And I was by myself alone in this house, mumbling voices at the end of the hallway. - Oh, cool, I hate it. - Lights going on and off. Like, it was so scary. And then I moved into this house, and someone died in it. - Okay, before you moved in. - Before I moved in, yes, thank God. - I don't know. You said I moved in, and then someone died in it. - Yeah, the timeline was confusing. - You're like, I really aggressively moved my mattress, and I still had two days, button. - Yeah, I think God knows. It was prior to me getting in there. But like around the anniversary of her death, like there's been an increase in activity. And then I bought this furniture from another like Hollywood actress. And I brought the furniture in. And I think the girls are now battling. - Oh, ghost fight. - Yeah, and the uptick in activity has been insane. So just the other day, I have a smart doorbell. I feel like a lot of people have those nowadays. And I kept getting a ding. Someone's been spotted, doorbell. Someone's at your doorbell. - Interesting. - Doorbell rings, you check the cam, no one's there. And I was like, that's weird, okay, whatever. Five minutes later, doorbell. Someone's at your door, no one's there. And it kept going off for the next 45 minutes in random intervals. It wasn't like it's every five minutes, like okay, my doorbells busted, random. Random. - If it turns out to be a really tiny man, just trying his best to get your attention, I'm gonna freak out, that's too scary. - Well, I have like the package view too. - Okay. - So you can see where it's like, there's clearly nothing there. Like not even a small person. - So I'm somebody that like, I don't believe in anything in normal, but it's more like, I haven't been given evidence that makes me believe that. - So you're like my husband, he's open, but nothing's presented itself yet. - I'm not even like, I say open is like too far from you. I'm always open to being proven wrong, but usually I'm the one that's like, yeah, okay, like I've had enough like near misses with stuff like that where I have found out the actual reason for things later. - Yeah. - And I'm like, okay, usually there's a reason, but I'm not wanting to yuck someone's yum, and I love paranormal stories. I love like horror, but I also love the like, woo, spooky pumpkins by a minute. So like, I'm here for that. - Okay, I'll show you the video too, so you can get a view here, you can just press play. - Oh, so it was actually ringing? That's different. - It kept like someone, you actively have to push the doorbell button to get the chime. - Wait, sorry, do you not think it was the, is that your neighbor, the old lady? - What old lady? - With the, uh, in the back. (laughing) (laughing) - She's stressed like a Hollywood actor like smoking a long cigarette and doing the, doing the Autusi? - I was like, am I going? - No, sorry, I'm messing with you. - I'm just messing with you. And then I'm first to die in this movie, where I was like, ha, ha, you guys still believe in the old killer to run the tape on my face. Cause I was like, what old lady? And I was like trying to lay down and take a nap. So like, I literally, I thought I was gonna have a heart attack. You just kept going and going. - I have gotten a lot of notifications on automated things before and I'm just always like, okay, whatever. But the fact that the doorbell itself is ringing, that's not fun. - Well, like unplugged the chime. So the chime box, I unplugged it from the wall and then it rang again. Like, you just kept progressively getting worse and worse. And I'm like, three days go away ghost. - That is, it's also very like situational with time and location. Because if you're trying to take a nap at what, 2 p.m., yeah, inconvenient, mildly spooky. If it was like 4 a.m. - Yeah. - When the spooky stuff happens, game over good night. - I don't like it. - No, no thanks. - Okay, I think we are adequately prepared. - Yeah, let's go. - Let's dive in. (gentle music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) - This episode is presented by State Farm. There's impressive, like instantly winning over your boyfriend's parents, and then there's impressive. Like being smart about saving money for your dream home or a sweet new ride. And a great way to do that is to bundle home and auto with the State Farm personal price plan. Bundling, just another way to save with the personal price plan. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there. Prices are based on ratings plans that vary by state. Covered options are selected by the customer. Availability, amount of discounts and savings, and eligibility vary by state. Kicking us off, we're gonna get into a vintage post coming from Ask Reddit, and it vintage 10 years. Oh, don't that hurts my feelings, vintage. - Well, why would you consider that? - No, it's a great word for it, but I'm just like, like, I remember the first Nintendo DS. Like, it was-- - I miss my Game Boy every day. - Yeah. - Yeah. - What kind of Game Boy? Is it like a color-- - I did get the color. - Mm-hmm, but like Donkey Kong. - Yeah, we can make that happen easily. - Yeah, cool. - Yeah. - So this is titled, "What is the creepiest and most unexplainable paranormal experience you've ever had?" And the top one is this. Not creepy, but kind of cool. My mother's split and transplanted a rose bush from my grandfather's farm about 40 years ago. It took, but it never bloomed. At that point, she only kept it because it grew into the fence nicely and kept us kids from climbing it. My grandfather died about five years after she transplanted it. And that following spring, it bloomed red roses. - Oh. - A few years after that, my grandmother died. And the spring after, it bloomed white roses. These are the only two years it has ever bloomed. - That's very sweet. - Isn't that just like-- - That's so sweet. - It's kind of a feel good. - I like the comforting ghost stories. And also, that's often my take on ghost stories in general where it's like, oh, something was there. I'm like, okay, why does it hate you? Why? I don't think it necessarily has to. What if some ghosts are just chill? The overwhelming majority would have to be. Otherwise, it'd be like, oh, another person died. Like, yeah, mysteriously. - I love signs too. And a lot of people have talked about signs. And I think that's definitely one of them. I got a message from a listener last week or two weeks ago now, but it was like, I just want to like thank you for talking about signs and that we have to be patient. 'Cause I'm waiting for my sign from a loved one and it hasn't come yet and your reminder is just like, I'll get there. And I think it's like, it's not if it's when and you really do just have to be patient. Because this next little blip on here is also about a sign. My mother's favorite animal was the hummingbird. Last year, shortly after she passed away, a hummingbird came right up and looked at me as I was on my way to my car to go to work, like a foot away and just checked me out for a while and flew off to do hummingbird things. Once I got to my car, I broke down. Just sat there in the driver's seat and cried. I'd like to thank my mom with somehow checking up on me. I know it's silly, but for that moment, I felt like she wasn't gone and she was still there watching over me. - I love that. It's very sweet. Also, I feel like we have to qualify, you know, oh, this is silly. It's not silly. If it gives you comfort, great. And you know what, let's say, for instance, that you're wrong and your mom didn't send a hummingbird or wasn't the hummingbird, well, guess what? The memory you had of her loving hummingbirds gave you comfort in that moment. That's real. - It's perfect. - It's just it's so perfect. - Do you have a plan with anybody where you're like, hey, if I pass on, if there's a dog playing a fiddle and he's got a little hat, that's me. - I don't, but I definitely should make one. - Okay, yeah, that is, we should test this and people should have their contingency plans. - Well, I got it. I'm gonna really have to get crafty because for anyone in my life, they're gonna be tough to get to believe. - They're also-- - So it is gonna have to be that level of abnormal behavior, dog playing fiddle, a horse skipping, something weird. - Well, that one is, I mean, I think you have to canter for certain competitions. You gotta get even crazier than that. - I know, have you seen the dancing horses when they do dressage? - All the designer stallions? - Those are cool too. - Okay, oh, that's a different thing. - That's a different thing, yeah. - I haven't seen the dancing horses. - Oh, I'm gonna show you Snoop Dogg loves him. - Oh great, well if Snoop loves him. - I know. - Sign me up. - I know. Okay, we're moving on to some creepy video and photo evidence. - Okay. - So this next one I have is coming from our slash paranormal encounters and it's titled Ghost Pulls Cap Off. And here is the video. - I'm full on expecting a dude in the white robe. - Did you see it? - Oh, I would have to go back, but I did. - They do assume. And then do you see that person? So it's a college or high school graduation, probably high school. They're all walking across the stage and there's two that are on the far left side of the stage on the steps. One person that's at the bottom, one person up. The person that's one up, hat, the gown, cap, cap. - Cap. - Yeah, cap. - Felys off. The person that's on the bottom season is like scared and starts to go back up the steps, the way that they're not supposed to go. It's this person over here. It's almost like he felt it to a little before it happened. - Yeah. - And look how scared the other person gets to just run off the steps like that. - Okay, so there's no. I was looking for like motion on the robes to be like, you know, if you've seen those like air blast things, but I'm not seeing that. - That was a good point. - It's hard to tell if there's a string. - I could see it being a senior prank or maybe the ghost of a student who never got to pull their senior prank. They died trying to take off their cap and their head fell clean off and that's why they had to do this now. - They died? - I think to become a ghost, that's a prerequisite, right? - The poor student. - Yeah. - Okay, here's another one coming from paranormal encounters. It's titled ghost walks by. It looks to be like it's at a hospital or somewhere where there's a security desk. You can kind of see here where it starts to track it. - It's almost like a orb thing. - It's almost like an orb, but then it pans back to his face, the security guard's face, and he is spooked, immediately stands up, scared. So he clearly saw it in the room. - Yeah. - Which is probably why they then went to pull the tape. - Hmm, interesting. Yeah, this is gonna sound like so like LA, but I don't necessarily, I'm not religious, but I'm spiritual. No, I'm not even spiritual, but I do think there's like certain things that we just haven't fully defined yet. We just haven't clocked. Like the idea of a vibe. - Okay. - Like I've walked into situations before and been like, oh, the vibe is like loud static. Like this feels weird and hurts, and then you find out later like, oh, those two friends were actually arguing in an almost in full breakup mode before I got there. Even though everything seems fine now, I would just walk in and it's like, oh, the vibes. - Like you could feel it. - I could feel it. So I wonder if that's, you know, what's the vibe? Like why do you feel like something's here? - Yeah. - Yeah. - You're gonna have an encounter someday, and you'll know, like you just-- - Deadass, I probably will have, and just I'm just like, oh, whatever, like me. Like-- - On another Tuesday. - Yeah, I don't know. I feel like, I've had situations before where I have felt something going on or seen something crazy, and I've just out loud and like, hey, like, how's it going? I'm here, like, let's be chill. Like, on the off chance something's going on, but why, if they're like murder clown ghost, why be like, oh, you wanna get out of here? Just be like, hey, I'm not gonna bug you. They have a good day, like-- - You do you, calling me? - My thought is always like, why aren't there just a shit ton of dinosaur ghosts? Everywhere. So what do you think, do you think humanity is separate? Do you think there's ghosts of animals? Do you think it's a time-related thing? Like, 100 million years, maybe they cap out. - You know, the dinosaur thing is a good point, 'cause there are people that will see ghosts of their dogs. My mom saw the ghost of our cat. So I do think, maybe there is a time limit. - Maybe. - 'Cause dinosaurs, that was, when was the last dinosaur on the Earth? How many-- - I'm gonna lose my autism card. Like-- - Millions of millions of billions. - I mean, well, they're still here. Like-- - Alligators. - Moe birds, birds are in deep dinosaurs. Alligators are a separate thing, isn't that crazy? - Yeah, I just learned how to spell tarot actal recently. That was crazy, and then-- - You can never forget the pee. - Yeah, I didn't realize dodo birds were actually around and humans killed off the dodo birds. - Yeah, you know what's really sad? - And they were just trying to make friends. Like the dodo birds were super friendly. - Yeah, well people, the story for the longest time was like, "These birds are so dumb, they'll walk up to you to kill 'em." But like, they didn't have any natural predators larger than them, so they had no reason to be afraid of something, and they were just curious. - They were just curious, and-- - A bummer. - Gross. - Such a bummer, and we deserve hauntings from that. - I wonder if we could bring them back with all the cloning. I'd be down for dodo's to come back. - Dodo's and Moa's, I know, are most closely related to like, cassowaries, maybe, but I don't. It's pretty different. I think we would need like, a surrogate something that's close, like how they're doing with woolly mammoths and elephants. - Yep, okay. We're gonna workshop that. - Yeah, we're gonna workshop that. - We're gonna actually bring back the birds. - Hashtag. - I would love it. Okay, let's get into these stories. I heard you know a thing or two about a gnome. Didn't you happen to read a-- - We had a small, shredded story about a gnome. - About a gnome. - And apparently it was like a translation thing about where like, supposedly in the culture that had written it, gnomes were more, it was a different thing than what we understand to be like a dude with a little word hat. You know what I mean? - Yeah. - So this is a story about a gnome. - Gnome too, return of the gnome. - It's coming back for you. - Which shit. - This is coming from our slash paranormal encounters. Titled, I don't even know how to say this, but I think I saw a gnome in a national forest yesterday. - Oh, okay. - I will be the first to admit, I thought these types of cryptids were joke and not real, and I've never been able to take them seriously. I am an outdoorsman and have been for 35 years though. I grew up in the woods. I memorized trees from mushroom hunting for a living. I know every brook, stream, bush, berry grove, log, you name it. I'm on a forest road and I'm on our nine of not a soul in sight. I gather some mushrooms and look up the road and see that a rock has fallen from a loose steep side of the mountain to the middle of the road. I make a mental note that I have to move it and not drive over it. I gather my mushrooms and get back to the car. I look up and I see what appears to be a two or two and a half foot tall, little brown thing walking from the side of the road over to the rock. My first logical thought is that it's a squirrel, but I see it is walking on two legs, appearing to be wearing brown cloth or fur clothes. And it's shaped like a human, but very tiny. It's not scurrying either. It is ambling on two legs, just like a human would. Just casually walking like this is some normal, regular-ass thing. Like monotonous work, it does for a living. I don't believe my line eyes. It has to be something else. I get back in the car and head up the road and see that the rock has been pushed back to the side of the road from where it came from. It had fallen off the hill, rolled to my left, then was sitting back on the other side of the road on the right. There are drag marks like someone slid it back. I look, I smell, I sense, I listen, nothing. I don't know where gnomes live, but the old partially logged section where I was at looked pretty perfect for a clan of these things. Lots of places to hide, secluded near water, plenty of routes for escape, and would be easy to dig little holes in the mountain and be fortified against invaders. The side road into it was flooded and appears to do so regularly, so these little guys even have their own moat. I'm positive I'm overthinking this. It was a long drive back up the mountain, then down the mountain the other way, and sometime home. And I can't pick this apart into anything else, but being a tiny little forest man. I'm like 1,000% positive that I saw what I saw. It was near a military special interest zone, allegedly blocked off due to some native butterflies, but I'm starting to wonder if this research area is really not about butterflies after all. They send you to prison, ban you from parks, and give you a $5,000 fine if you take a single berry from inside that boundary. -What did I see? -Whoa. -Yeah. -Color me convinced. I mean, that's fun though. I think if you're going to see anything paranormal, a gnome's pretty chill. I would rather see a gnome than a lot of things. A lot of things. If you had to bring one cryptid into reality, assuming it's not already real, what would it be gnomes or what do you think? I mean, yeah, probably. I'm like, how many different types of cryptids are there? of how much time you got. - I know, this is like one of my friend, Kaelin, like this is her rabbit hole for sure. And I know there's like, there's some that you can't even say. - You can't mention a lot. - I call those, I call those windy dogs. Like there was a video game I was playing that had that creature for the people that don't know the creature from Native American legend that begins with the W, they say it all the time and I was like streaming that game and you're not supposed to say it. - No, you can get around it by saying like, slash pedestrians. - Yeah, that's it, yeah. So it's like windy dogs. - Yeah. - It's windy old dogs. - Yeah, I didn't realize technically lockness monster could be a cryptic. - Oh yeah. I think cryptic is any like who's like kind of hidden creature that people think exists in legend, but. - Yeah, big foot, Sasquatch. - It's fresh, no night crawler. - Okay. - Skunk ape. - I'm sorry, who? - This is Southern Sasquatch. That's a. - A skunk ape? - Yeah, it's like a really stinky Sasquatch. I think it's part of like Appalachian lore, which just that in and of itself, that list, like don't whistle in the Appalachians. - Oh, the whistling, yeah. Or if you hear a whistle, you better get out. - Yeah. - That's crazy. Yeah, no, I think the gnomes would, by far, be one of the best options. And apparently it is a very common thing. A lot of the comments get into it. This one says, "I lived in Central America for a few years and they had similar stories of small people like creatures that live in the woods." I mean, these stories are as old as human civilization. Do you recall its facial features? Another person mentions, "I've heard them "called the duende, du-e-n-d-e." But I'm sure there's many regional names for them. My uncle, who lives in Columbia, saw one. Duende, Spanish for gnome. He said it was playing hide and seek with his friends out on the countryside and he swears, "Hand on Bible that he saw a little person wearing a big hat with red eyes." And he said he almost pooped his pants. He was that scared. - Oh, wow. Yeah, I guess that'd be, you could use your poop your pants card for that. - Yeah. - Surprising. - Well, and like, how tall are we talking? 'Cause there's a difference too. - Yeah, 'cause when I hear that, I'm thinking like Gargamel's looking for smurfs in their way down there for his smurfs too. - Yeah. - But like, you know, if they're gonna live in a mushroom, they'd have to be relatively small, but you must have feet to me. I was like, "Okay, baby bear." Like, yeah, 'cause the pumpkin stack by you, I believe is 26 inches. - You agree with it. - So he said like two to two and a half, so it's kind of about that height. - That's? - That's a bigger gnome than I would have expected. - That's why, like, yeah, I think linguistically, like Dwende may be different than like, what I'm thinking of like the Nordic countries of like the little gnomes and they tried to take your skier. And they, it's the skier goblers or whatever. Like, - God, you're so knowledgeable. - Thank you so much. - You're so perfect for this. - Oh, thank you. I don't know, I think gnomes are fun. That's a fun one to like lean into. - Yeah. OP does respond. It was far enough that I couldn't see his cute little tiny face. I also only saw him from the side, though I could make out long white hair with a little silver left in it that went down to its butt. And a curly semi manicured, curly gray beard that went down just about as far. He was wearing a hat that looked like the one you wear in Canada or the Midwester in winter, the kind with ear flaps, but has a short brim that was up like a ball cap and only went out about as far as his face. Can you envision the hat? - I can. I, they lost me a little bit there to be honest. - Okay, too much detail, but then couldn't see the face. - Too much detail later. Like I know we're not here to like pick these apart necessarily, but like when she was like, it was two and a half feet tall and I could see like little brown clothes, like great. But if I was telling people with my whole heart, like I saw a gnome, it would very much include like, no, we had like long white hair and a white beard, like in the stories, we had a little hat. Like that, you lead with a little hat. - You do. Why do you leave that out? - You gotta leave. - I know. I know. Another comment, big red box with a award. - Oh. - The little people, puck wood jeez, whatever you'd like to call them, exist out in the wilderness. Sometimes some of us are blessed with a sighting and subsequently left dumbfounded and confused or happily mystified by our paranormal reality. As I like to say, we live in a sci-fi novel, but we're stuck here on capitalist earth as the oppressed class while all of this hidden cool shit is happening. - That's fun. - Oh, okay, big dream, 9303. We see you out here. - You know why not? We're already living in the capitalist hellscape. Why not imagine that there is a separate something somewhere out there that is giving you comfort of like, well, at least something's free in nature and yeah. - I know, I believe in fairies. Like, I just noticed that I have a couple of neighbors in my neighborhood that have like little fairy gardens and there's also something, and I feel like it was a post I came across years ago. Maybe I'll have to dig a back out for patron or something, but it was like, you have to be careful of the fairies 'cause they will play tricks on you. - Yeah, there's all sorts of fairy lore. - Is there one fairy that steals children? - Just one. - There's multiple. - I think there's multiple, yeah. I'd heard something before where people talked about like fairy lore in, I think it was Ireland and it was a potential explanation for, you know, when people were like, oh, no, everybody has autism now. Like, we didn't used to have it back in the day. It's like, well, when the kids are acting a little bit different and can't really focus and are doing their own thing and don't listen, the explanation was like, they got replaced by a fairy. Like a fairy took the original kid and a fairy took their place and it's like, well, yeah, they're like touched by the Fey. Like, it's-- - Wow. - Yeah, so-- - It's so wild all like the lore we've created, too, to like explain just anything, so yeah, anything. - Are you aware of the mushrooms that make people trip and see little people over everything? And it's the same little people, even when you've never been exposed to it? I know this sounds like BS, but it is a type of mushroom that apparently does not get you high or not. It does not do anything else other than like, you just see little guys everywhere and it's the same little guys that apparently other people see. It's a thing. - Oh my gosh, yeah, so it is Lan Mawa, a sciatica, an earthy colored wild fungus from China that causes unique little puthion hallucinations where people see hundreds of tiny, elf-like figures. I don't know if I'd be able to come back from that. - That's what he said. - That sounds horrible. - Awesome. - I honestly-- - Two opposite ends of the, this is my dream here. I'm like, what do they do? Like, are they gonna chase me? Like-- - Oh, I don't think they chase me. I think, you know, there's-- - Is it fun? - This is busy. Like, I'm not a recreational drug user at all and I don't even drink, so it's not a matter of like, I wanna try those. It's just like-- - Yeah. - No, I wanna see a little guys. - You're curious. - Yeah. - About 90 to 96% of the affected individuals report seeing vivid, detailed visions of tiny humans or elves, roughly one to 12 inches tall, interacting normally within physical laws in their environment, such as walking on furniture, climbing walls, jumping on food. That has a crazy concept of like, there could be so many little things that you can't see that are right there, interacting in your environment. - Yeah. - Maybe the wolf is drinking my die coke right now. - And he better pace himself 'cause that's a lot for a one to 12 inch little guy. - Oh, okay, now I really wanna try the mushroom. - Yeah, right? I'm like, you know, I'm not condoning anyone out there. Like, kids not saying do anything, but I'm just-- - Yeah, no, don't do drugs. - I'm just so curious about it. - Yeah. - Also, one to 12 inches is very different. Like, one inch little guys-- - That's-- - That's what I was envisioning. - Yeah. - One foot little man, I'm like, fuck off. Don't come anywhere near me. See, an inch, cool, 12, not okay. - I'm like, I would get any kind of spray. I'm like, no, it's back. Y'all. - This is insane. If anyone out there has taken these mushrooms, again, not recommended anyone do drugs, but if you have, can you please let us know what you saw? And if you made friends with your elves or what happened, I need to know now. - Also, I shout out one of my favorite TikTokers, Black Forger. She makes these awesome videos about, like, here's fun things you can find in nature to make food out of, or like, two almost exact looking things. Be like, one of these poisonous and one of them's not. Which one is it? So I feel like-- - Oh, I love that. - A lot of fun mushroom stuff that I've seen or whatever is just from her being like, I'm gonna make some delicious food. Here's something I can grab from a tree. - That is insane. I need to watch those videos. - They're great. One of the reasons I keep going back on the app. - I love it. Okay, let's get into this next one, because this one I read through and I genuinely, I don't know what's going on. - Okay. - So it's coming from our slash paranormal. Titled, "Something is happening to my fiance, "and we need advice on what to do." I don't even know where to begin, but I'll do my best to explain. Please let me know if this is in the right sub, or if I need to ask it in another sub. About six months ago, my fiance woke up complaining about her arm feeling weird. Quote, like it wasn't hers. She said, "She didn't know why, but she felt like her grandma, alive at the time, was present in the room. She was telling me that her grandma was saying that she wasn't feeling good and needed help. I felt her arm and it was cold to the touch. I was freaked out by this, so I took her to her parents' room and they called family in Mexico to find out what was going on. Apparently, her grandma wasn't waking up so they took her to the hospital. She was better after and nothing really occurred. for the next six months. This Sunday, her grandma passed away, and my fiancee mentioned that she had been feeling weird all of that day, and that her arm was hurting like crazy again. Then Monday happened. I took my fiance to work, and while there, she said she felt a presence in a corner, quote, "calling to her." Then she felt her grandma, quote, "in her head again." She called me, and I picked her up. After that, her grandma kept pushing her to call family members and tell them different things, her regrets, her apologies, her wishes, etc. When I asked her about it, she said that she could feel her grandma and could hear her in her head, and that sometimes her grandma would reply through her. Like her thoughts weren't even her own. At one point, I found her in the closet, and she told me that she felt like she had to be in there, and that her grandma could communicate better in the dark. She was also wearing a rosary that her grandma had given her, and said that her grandma had asked her to wear it. Since then, she says she can't take it off, and it feels wrong to even try. I had to leave her work, but she later told me that there were parts that she doesn't remember, especially during the time of her grandma's funeral, where she would have been talking to family members on the phone. She said her family felt like she wasn't her, and that her mannerisms and eagerness to talk about the afterlife scared them. When I got home, my fiance told me that her grandma had left for Mexico, but that she said that she would stay, parentheses on Earth, for a while, and would eventually come back. That night, after she had supposedly left, we heard rustling in the kitchen, like bags shifting, and cabinets closing. Then this morning, my fiance woke up complaining about feeling like someone was choking her. For my part, I couldn't sleep last night, and I swear I felt something in a dark part of the room. I'm really worried, and I don't know what to do. Her sister's comments have worried me, and the presence doesn't feel right. I need all the advice I can get, please. I'm so worried for her. I'm spooky. Mm-hmm. I'm stressed. I'm really stressed for them. You did a good job starting us off with, like, I saw my mom in a little hummingbird where it's like, oh yeah, what if grandma's here, and what if that's bad? Yeah. That's terrifying. Well, and I think it's interesting because this kind of started before grandma had even passed, too. Right. So what if it's not grandma at all? What if it is some sort of dark presence, demon, whatever, whatever, you know, they use people believe in, but what if it's like something dark that's actually pretending to be grandma and starting to interact with her, and almost like possess her if she's hearing the thoughts in her head. Yeah. There's no good outcome for this right now. There's whether you're skeptic, whether you believe whatever, this is bad, because either she has like a brain tumor and is something's pressing on her brain, or there's a carbon dioxide leak in just her side of the bed, or she's possessed by grandma or a dark spirit or something. Yeah. Right? That's not great. No, and it is interesting. I'd be curious if there's maybe a cultural thing, too, because I've had a story in the past where I believe it was Mexico or a Hispanic country, but their parent or someone went to go visit grandma that was passing, and they got a phone call. They didn't answer the phone, but then they got a message after, and it was grandma on the message machine. They come to find out by the time that phone rang, grandma had already passed. Yeah. So how was grandma leaving a message? And in that culture, sometimes loved ones will like come back to try to whisk children away. Oh, wow. It was like this weird thing. I'm going to have to link it in the description for where we had that story. But I'm like, it's just like it's seeming so odd where it's like, okay, grandma's choking you while you're sleeping now. That's wild, yeah. Like, why are you getting choked? I think that's, yeah, I wonder what the exact turning point would be for someone where it's like, wow, you know, even if I believe you, like, you know, you are talking to grandma, but then it's like, did your grandma usually like choke you or fuck up your kitchen? Yeah. Whatever. You have a streak of violence or is this out of character for granny? Yeah. Because if it's out of character, grandma will change you and she got ghost powers now. Maybe it wasn't in her character, but it was lying dormant and now she's like, what now? So one of the best comments, it's only got four votes right now. But it's coming from a person who went through the same thing. Okay. Whether it is granny or not, she needs to go. Yeah. I know this sounds crazy, but except for the choking, this happened to me with my mom when she passed. I don't know if granny is hurting your fiance. Perhaps she feels like her messages are not being taken seriously. I just say this out of comfort, but was she really the type of woman who could hurt someone else? Fiance must set firm boundaries. Try with the most simple, she needs to state granny or anything else you need to move on. My body is my own. You cannot use it anymore. See if that works. I'm not from her culture, but have close friends who are. I know that they have people who can remove spiritual attachments through rituals. I can only recommend a person I know in Chicago. The family owns a little shop, wife does readings, husband does spiritual stuff. I don't know where you are, but it feels like you need to find someone like that. And soon before granny or quote, granny gets too comfortable clinging to the living. That's the thing. You either set boundaries in life. You're going to have to set boundaries in death. But either way, you've got to learn to have those tough conversations. Stick up for yourself. So OP does reply, yeah, while talking to my fiance and her grandma, she said that her grandma felt that she wasn't ever listened to in life. At one point while sitting with her in the closet, my knee started to hurt really bad. I mentioned it to my fiance and she said that her grandma was doing it. I guess she was trying to show how she felt when she was alive and was surprised that it worked. I don't know what grandma was like, my fiance didn't like her and they clashed when she was alive. I don't think she would hurt other people. But even my fiance's mom, daughter of the grandma, said that she knew her mom was quote, bad. Oh, that's rough. Yeah. Also he's feeling things now too. Yeah. So she's like really kind of moving past this invisible realm quite literally breaking a boundary. Uh-huh. This sounds like she's got boundary issues and you know what, hurt people hurt people. And if grandma wasn't ever listened to that sucks and I feel bad about that, you know, I hope she can get listened to somehow, but like on the other side and on the other side with your ghost friends. Over there. Yeah. Ghost friends or wherever you're going. I don't know. I don't know what that looks. That's a whole other thing. I mean, grandma was bad. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Maybe that's why she always want to go. Does she fall in battle? It could be Vahala. Like we don't know. It could be whatever. Oh my God. Poor insult circles around me, like you beg on granny. One of them's got to work. One of the things has to work. Something. Do you have you ever play? Are you a game player person? A little bit. Yeah. I know you mentioned Game Boy. Um, do you play phasmophobia or have you? No. It's fun. It's fun with a group of friends. I also like to play it solo because I'm built different. Um, but basically you're a group of people, uh, called into a house. It's like very piecemeal game like 10 minute rounds or whatever. Okay. You're called into a house and you know it's haunted. You know, you know it's haunted and you have all these different like ghost hunter tools of like, you know, salt over here and not, you know, this kind of light on this wall and, you know, set a sound thing over here and you're trying to work together to figure out what kind of ghost it is. It's not your job to exercise it or anything like that. You're literally just like checking off the boxes and yep, this is going to be a poltergeist. That's what that is. And then you just leave. But it's really fun to like work with your friends and be like, I've got movement on the camera. It's nice to get to leave. Yeah. Well, if you, they can also, you can get killed in the game too, so that's not fun. I know. And that's like, I am a believer in the woo-woo. Like I, I have talked with like friends who have genuinely like watched exorcisms happen. And I'm just like, I think this girl, you might, you might have to call on the big guns. Yeah. And people that do that for real. Yeah. And bring in someone. That's the best part of any movie like that where you do finally find like the one person. They're middle-aged and chain-smoking and they're like, honey, this is bigger than you thought. Like yeah, they've got a TV show or something or they've written a book, but they're the ones that are like, ah, a real one, huh? Yeah. I just saw this thing about Joey King recently. She did an interview on a podcast and was talking about her experience while filming the Conjuring. And she like, it was really kind of hard to watch her retell this story because you could see her physically get anxiety from retelling it because it affected her so much. And everyone in the comments was like, I can't believe the podcast person kept like pushing her because clearly she's so uncomfortable. But she's telling the story about when she was filming the Conjuring. She was little young like, I think 1112. And during filming, she developed this rare blood condition where she was lacking like platelets or something like it has a formal definition. And she would have to go into the hospital or like get her blood checked multiple times a day and would then have to need. like transfusions to even be able to keep recording. And she would like, during all the recording for the movie would show up with like these massive bruises and like scratches on her body. She got done filming. The blood condition went away. - Yild. - And I'm like that where I'm like this entity could make you so sick. It literally is like in your blood. - Yeah. - And she was like, "I'm scared to even talk about it." 'Cause like, I don't even wanna bring that upon myself again. - No, poor thing. - Also like hard enough being a literal child filming stuff in Hollywood, but add to that like horror movie aspect that's gonna be a little traumatic. And then having a health scare, like during formative years of your life, poor thing. That's wild. - It's insane. - I think there have been a couple instances of horror movie curses that happened to the actors at like, say I mean, I don't know if you've heard of this, but like a poltergeist curse. - Oh, yeah. - Like the youngest girl I think she passed away. Yeah, she passed away at age 12 due to septic shock and bad and personal blockage. And then the older sister passed away. - Okay. - Yeah, the hell is wrong with that movie. But I think that this is kind of a common thing where it's like actors in horror movies that end up dying in first range. - This is crazy. - I know for poltergeists, they did have some actual human bodies used instead of props. Like I forget the full story, but it was something like, some department didn't know about that until later. - Oh my God. And that was 1982. - 80s were crazy, man. - Like what? - Coked out skeletons. - I guess the older sister was murdered. - Oh my God. - Oh, geez. - But she is. - That's crazy. - That is insane. - You know, maybe it's just certain sets in general, like not just horror movies, but like this is sad, but look at the cast of Glee. Like so many people have passed in crazy ways. Look at power rangers. Like there's in so many different like classic seasons. It's like, oh, that one dude like beheaded his roommate with a sword on a boat. Like it's, yeah, crazy stuff. - A power ranger? - Yeah, well, I think you lost enough honor to no longer be a power ranger once that happens. But, yeah. - Oh my God. That's insane. We need to get more into this. Like, I don't know this cluster. Like it's almost like, you know when disease can happen in cluster. - Sure. - And when that lives in this town, developed like Hodgkin's lymphoma, or like something like that. - It is interesting. - Was this typhoid marriage with the well? Like, I think was Typhoid Mary a cook? - Yeah, I think Typhoid Mary is a different one, but there was the one person that was like poisoning the well with her sickness or something. I don't know. - Oh my God. - I'm half remembering a story, not even enough details to Google. - No, I like this though. This episode is brought to you by Credit Karma. Breathe in. Now breathe out. It's coming from our slash Let's Not Meet. - Okay. - Titled. I've heard that name. What's the vibe of the Red Hat? - Let's not meet. - Let's not meet is a place where you go to tell these eerie, creepy stories about people that you never want to encounter again. - Got it. - Like, please do not cross my path. Let's not meet. - Got it. - Again. So this one is titled The Smiling Man. About five years ago, I lived downtown in a major city in the US. I've always been a night person, so I would often find myself bored after my roommate who was decidedly not a night person went to sleep. To pass the time, I used to go for long walks and spend the time thinking. I spent four years like that walking alone at night and never once had a reason to feel afraid. I used to joke with my roommate that even the drug dealers in our city were polite. But all of that changed in just a few minutes on one evening. It was a Wednesday, somewhere between one and two in the morning, and I was walking near a police-patrolled park quite a ways from my apartment. It was a quiet night, even for a weeknight, with very little traffic and almost no one on foot. The park, as it was most nights, was completely empty. I turned down a short side street in order to loop back to my apartment when I first noticed him. At the far end of the street on my side was the silhouette of a man, dancing. It was a strange dance, similar to a waltz, but he finished each box with an odd forward stride. I guess you could say he was dance walking, headed straight for me. Deciding that he was probably drunk, I stepped as close as I could to the road to give him the majority of the sidewalk to pass me by. The closer he got, the more I realized how gracefully he was moving. He was very tall and lanky and wearing an old suit. He danced closer still, until I could make out his face. His eyes were open, wide, and wild, head tilted back slightly, looking off at the sky. His mouth was formed in a painfully wide cartoon smile. Between the eyes and the smile, I decided to cross the street before he danced any closer. I took my eyes off of him to cross the empty street. As I reached the other side, I glanced back, and then stopped dead in my tracks. He had stopped dancing and was standing with one foot in the street perfectly parallel to me. He was facing me, but still looking skyward. Smile still wide on his lips. I was completely and utterly unnerved by this. I started walking again, but kept my eyes on the man. He didn't move. Once I had put about a half a block between us, I turned away from him for a moment to watch the sidewalk in front of me. The street and sidewalk ahead of me were completely empty. Still unnerved, I looked back to where he had been standing to find him gone. For the briefest of moments I felt relieved until I noticed him. He had crossed the street and was now slightly crouched down. I couldn't tell for sure due to the distance and the shadows, but I was certain that he was facing me. I'd looked away from him for no more than 10 seconds, so it was clear that he had moved fast. I was so shocked that I stood there for some time, staring at him, and then he started moving towards me again. He took giant, exaggerated tiptoed steps as if he were cartoon characters sneaking up on someone, except he was moving very, very quickly. I'd like to say at this point that I ran away or pulled out my pepper spray or my cell phone or anything, but I didn't. I just stood there, completely frozen at the smiling man creeping towards me. And then he stopped again, about a car length away from me, still smiling his smile, still looking to the sky. When I finally found my voice, I blurted out the first thing that came to mind. What I meant to say was, what the fuck do you want in an angry commanding tone? What came out was a whimper. What the fuck? Regardless of whether or not humans can smell fear, they can certainly hear it. I heard it in my own voice, and that only made me more afraid, but he didn't react to it at all. He just stood there, smiling. And then after what felt like forever, he turned around very slowly and started dance walking away. Just like that, not wanting to turn my back to him again, though I just watched him go until he was far enough away to almost be out of sight. And then I realized something. He wasn't moving away anymore, nor was he dancing. I watched in horror, as the distant shape of him grew larger and larger. He was coming back my way, and this time he was running. I ran to. I ran until I was off the side of the road and back onto a better lit road with sparse traffic. Looking behind me, then, he was nowhere to be found. The rest of the way home, I kept glancing over my shoulder, always expecting to see his stupid smile, but he was never there. I lived in that city for six months after that night, and I never went out for another walk. There was something about his face that always haunted me. He didn't look drunk, he didn't look high. He looked completely and utterly insane. And that's a very, very scary thing to see. Oh. So that's creepypasta, got it? God, I didn't expect that right off the bat, and I was like, oh, I'm getting slender man vibes. I was, that was my envision of this person. For some reason, though, the thing that really popped into my head was the grim reaper. Oh, interesting. And I don't know why. And I could just see that like this dazzling person doing this waltz, this dance to almost distract. - Yeah. and then just come swoop you up. - If it was Grim Reaper vibes, I almost feel like it's an invitation to dance, where it's like, you know, would you like to join me on this dance? Like as we swoop away. - Yeah. - I think there's always fun and interesting personifications of death that I've seen like that in literature. Have you ever read or are you familiar with the King and Yellow? - No. - It's where a lot of like the kind of Kutului stuff comes from before Lovecraft, where it's like the horror part of it is like, and then they went crazy. Like it's insane, but it's just about like this, once you read the play in the book, in the book, the King and Yellow, there's a play called The King and Yellow. And once you read it and become aware of it, you start to like invite that into your brain and you start to like see different things. So that to me almost sounds like one of the short stories where it would be like, this man was dancing and I never understood him. And then by the end of the book, it's like I finally understand his dance and I smile grew a little larger. - Yeah. - You know. - I need to get this book. Yeah, classic, it's old, 1895. - You know what, I would recommend instead of like, there's a couple different people to do it, but like go on YouTube and watch some like breakdowns of it because they'll more or less read the whole thing and also explain what's going on at that point and that way you're not there with the book from 1895. That like. - It's a little dense. - It's a little, it's just a little dated. Like a lot of things came from it. So you're like, oh, I can appreciate what this did for horror in the genre and like cosmic horror I guess, but like you're good. Like you don't sit down. - Okay, I'll do the spark notes on YouTube. I love that. - Do you do a lot of creepy pasta stuff just for fun or? - I don't because I'm genuinely, it scares me. - Yeah. - Like I really, I have a hard time sleeping after stuff like this. Like I'm glad we're doing this so early in the day. I get some sun after to like, okay, we're good. Because it is eerie and I think, you know, this kind of stuff happens where it's like someone's just trailing you and you cross the street and they cross the street and you take two right turns and they took two right turns behind you. And it's just like, it feels so real and like I can feel this fear. - Yeah. - And it's just, it's so jarring. - I'm a huge fan of it because it's modern folklore. It's, you know, folklore is very important but it's the modern telling of like, you know, we would tell these stories around a campfire and try to scare each other. But what I love about it is, you know, when done well, there's just one or two things that are tweaked from normalcy. Like we've all had the experience of like walking along, you know, whether or not you have the privilege of feeling comfortable at night and alone or not. You know, you can sell those moments of like, oh, that guy's giving me the kind of like a weird vibe or like, oh, there's something off about this and it's just that little thread that the author will pull and be like, but what if it was even more different? Like, what if you were alone and you just saw someone dancing? Was that enough for full blown fear? No, but why is there this primal I'm being hunted fear and then they can move faster than me and then he's running at me like, I just, I just love it. Well, it felt like a game of cat and mouse too. Like the person was really toying with OP and like could feel the fear and like, oh, okay, I'm letting you off the hook. Nope, just can I'm running at you. And there is a user that draws what they, you know, assume this person looks like. And you can just like, you know, that smile, that cheshire cat smile. I'm almost envisioning the Joker too. Sure. I don't know why that's coming into my head now after seeing this drawing. But the post is from 2012. So it's pretty old at this point. Wow. It's giving a freaky Fred from Courage the Cowardly Dog. I don't know freaky Fred. Freaky Fred. It's just big smile. Yeah. Yeah, a little freaky Fred too. A little freaky Fred. Wow. I wonder what it is about the smile then, because I think that's what scares a lot of people about clowns too, is like, I guess exaggerated smile without the humanity behind it. Yeah, think about obsession. Yeah. I mean, that face too. It's just like, it's very unsettling. Yeah. Very unsettling. And just to be clear too, like OP does comment quite a bit. Middle aged white had color in his hair, meaning that he was kind of grain. I don't know of his intentions. I don't know what his motives were, but he never came close enough to be able to touch me. And obviously he gave up pursuit when I ran. And again, like, let's not meet. I think creepypasta is mostly fake, creative writing. Let's not meet is supposed to be all real. 100% authentic. True stories. Got it. Yeah. Which makes this then even crazier. Yeah. Okay. And the next let's not meet is worse. It's just roll the tape. Oh. So this is actually pretty recent. It's only a month old. It's titled, I still wonder what was in that basement. A few years ago, I owned and operated my own pet grooming salon. Because it was a business that was open to the public, I typically didn't keep the front door locked while I was working. One day, a new neighbor who had just moved into the complex came to my door. He introduced himself and told me that he was opening up a meat shop in one of the units nearby. At first, I was completely friendly. He was a new neighbor and I figured it was nice to welcome him to the complex. He came inside and started making conversation, but the questions quickly became more personal than I expected. He asked me if I worked alone. I told him I was alone at the moment, but that my work partner was currently on lunch and would be back in about 20 minutes. That was a lie. I was alone. Then he asked if I had a boyfriend. Then he asked whether I lived with my family. Looking back, these questions made me uncomfortable in a way that I didn't really think about at the time. After talking for a few minutes, he asked me if I would like to see his new meat shop. I thought, sure, why not? He was my new neighbor after all and I was trying to be friendly. So I followed him over. When we walked inside, there was almost nothing there. The place was completely empty aside from three enormous chest freezers in one room. They were massive, easily big enough for me to fit inside. The other room contained a walk-in refrigerator/freezer, but there was no meat. Not a single package, nothing. He started telling me about the meat that he was supposedly going to be selling and then asked me if I wanted to look inside one of the chest freezers because apparently there was a good deal on meat. I immediately said no. I remember thinking it was strange because there wasn't any meat in the store yet. Then he asked me if I wanted to see the basement. I said no. He asked again. I said no again. I had absolutely no interest in going into the basement with a man that I had met minutes earlier, especially when I was alone, and his new business was essentially an empty building containing several enormous freezers. But he kept trying to convince me to go downstairs. At that point, every alarm bell in my head was going off. I started making my way back towards the exit and eventually I managed to get out of there. Nothing happened to me. I made it back to my grooming salon safely and my landlord eventually returned. She lived in the basement of my unit that I was renting. And once she was there, it made me feel safe once again. - So the biggest thing that pulled me from that one is we've got butcher shop, Carné Serilla. Meat shop? Meat shop is not the word for the thing you mean. That's right. Have you ever heard anything called it a meat shop? It's the butcher, it's the Carné Serilla. It's whatever, like-- - The deli. - The deli, that's great too. All these things make sense. - I know. - Meat store. - It's insane, because like OP does have like a little blip here at the end. I've thought about that encounter many times since. I don't know what was in that basement. I don't know why he was so interested in getting me down there. I don't know why he needed to know whether I lived alone, had a boyfriend, or whether I worked by myself. I certainly don't know why he wanted me looking inside an enormous empty chest freezer in a business that didn't contain a single thing of meat. Maybe there was a completely innocent explanation for everything. Maybe he was just incredibly socially awkward with a strange way of welcoming his new neighbor, but I'll never know. What I do know is that I was very, very glad. I told him my coworker was coming back in 20 minutes, because when I think of that encounter now, I can't help wondering what might have happened. If I had told him I worked completely alone. - I do respect the survival instincts there. Now, obviously, it's so much better to hurt someone's feelings and survive than anything else, but theoretically, what if that basement, new bike, free new bike for her? And that's why I wanted to know if she had a family and lived with a boyfriend. How many free bikes is he gonna give away that day? - It's very, very positive thinking with this one. - Free candy in the basket, too. - My mind immediately goes to, no, this is. - No, she was gonna be people meat. We know that. - Wasn't there someone that literally just got found out for selling people as meat. - I know there's movies based on this. - Sure. I am reading "Tender is the Flesh" right now, and that's, I'll give you. - Is that the same vibe? - It's a book that is like dystopian future where people are raised for meat, and it's like a separate class of humans. But they're still humans, but they're like, it's like yeah, the lower class is raised for meat, and everyone's just accepted it, and that's where meat comes from now. So, hard, hard read, very scary, but it's horror, I love you. - There is, so the one I think I'm thinking of is Joe Methany. He was an American serial killer back from the '90s, and he killed at least three people claimed to have killed more, and he would mix victims into pork and beef, and sell them as burgers. - Ooh, he's, did a, did a Sweeney Todd, little Fleet Street action. That sucks a lot. That kind of stuff is what really gets me, 'cause that's not paranormal, that's just a human being, crazy scary, and that happens. - There's another serial killer I've covered, and they owned a pig farm, and there was a lot of speculation and not like. - 'Cause pigs will eat through anything. - Yeah. - Yeah, and he, I mean, he killed so many women. Like it was just, it was insane. So, just, I just, - That's why I can't do the true crime stuff. Like, - It's tough. - Go stories are fun. Ghoulish, like, "Oh, and the pumpkin came to life." Like, that's, I love that stuff, and I even love really scary horror movies. - Yeah. - Real stories of like, yeah, they kept that lady in a basement for 58 years, and she never knew what light was. It's like, holy shit. Like, I can't, I can't lose myself in those stories. - I can't go down that. - Can't do it. - Okay, let's get a little, let's get a little spooky again then, because I'm losing it. I'm like, "Oh my God, I'm gonna have to sleep with the lights on." This is from our slash paranormal. Very fresh, it's only six hours old. - Whoa. - Titled, "Hi guys, please tell me what the fuck did I experience? 'Cause I'm very confused." - Full title, long title. - I don't know. My grandpa died back in November, 2019, right after he died, I had a dream, where he was on his deathbed, and he was asking me not to enter his room, especially at night. And there was some sort of black smoke moving across his room. However, I didn't pay attention to his words, and I moved into his room in the beginning of 2020. I was 11 at the time. My dog used to sleep with me in that room, only he would bark every single night, looking at the staircase beside my room, and sometimes under my bed. Now his barking may or may not be related, I don't know. A few weeks later, right at 1am, there would be knocking on my window. I thought it was an actual person, until my dad decided that I'd stay in my room while he goes to the balcony to check who's knocking. There was no one there. None of it scared me. I don't know why. I kept seeing shadows and hearing voices. I had a friend at that time, her house was right beside mine. She died in the middle of 2021. I don't know why, police couldn't solve her case, but I believe it was a murder. Her life was really sad. I still feel very bad for her. I was her only friend. The day she died, she had come to visit me, and I offered her some snacks. She refused and insisted on talking only, as she didn't know if she would get a chance to talk to me ever again. I laughed at it, thinking it was a joke, but later on I felt like she knew what was coming for her. After she died, things got worse. I had bite marks and scratches all over myself, and it would bleed heavily. Another detail, I don't know if it's important or not, but the day she came to see me for the last time, my dog wasn't letting her get close to me. My dog knew her well and saw her multiple times, but I don't know what happened to him that day. I had to keep him in another room, otherwise he was acting as if he would bite her if she tried to get close to me. So back to the other story. Every day I wake up with new bite marks and scratch marks literally everywhere, and again, it would bleed heavily. The knocking was still happening every night without missing a single night. One day, I was sitting on my bed thinking of a story. I do like writing stories, and I looked at the mirror in front of my bed, and I saw my mom behind me. I thought, now I'm gonna get scolded and she'll drag me back to her room, but when I turned around, there was no one there. I looked back at the mirror, and I could still see my mother behind me. I looked back again. I took a few seconds to process, and then I ran to my mother's room. Now mind you, my mom's door was very creaky. If she was behind me, I would know it way before, because her door makes a very loud sound. Anyways, this continued until 2023, and after that, I actually decided to follow a religion because I was depressed, and I wanted to actually find something which could help me enjoy life. After I started practicing, I randomly found that it all stopped. Nothing has ever happened. I still practice, and I still do see stuff, although I don't freak out now. I never did freak out. Only the bites scared me because it bled so much, LOL. Anyways, my actual question is, what the fuck was that? Was it my friend, or my grandpa, or something else entirely, and how did I get that dream? Was it just a coincidence? Forgive me from my weird English. It's not my first language. - Well, what the fuck did happen is a great question, because that's a lot of moving pieces, my friend. - I think demon was under the bad grandpa died, tried to warn you in a visitation dream, and you didn't believe your grandpa. - Okay. - And then nothing haunted your ass. - That's fair. I'm more concerned about the fact that my friend died. We don't really know why, and the police don't know. But she came to visit me day of, and knew she was gonna die. I'm like, are you person of interest number one? Did you share that with the authorities? - Was that even the friend, or was that her ghost visiting? - Hey, that's a great question. - Because if the police can't solve what happened to her, maybe they don't have an actual time of death, how do you know that that was not her spirit, coming and visiting you, and being like, I don't know if I'm gonna ever get to talk to you again? What if that was already her ghost? - It's fair that that could be a ghost situation. - Okay. - The thing that I'm most curious about though is like, the writer, the OP sets up this whole grandpa situation, and then there's also maybe a friend situation, but we don't have info on what the friend needed to talk about, you know, if this was a message from beyond, what was the message? - I know, why, the need, why? I don't know if I'm gonna ever be able to talk to you again. Okay, well, what'd she say in this combo? If she felt this pressing need to talk to you, what'd she say? - Yeah, did the friends now, you know, passed away? Like, did they see a demon in the room? And that's why they're like, I need to warn you to get out of your grandpa's room. And like, I'm just curious, there's-- - There's a lot of moving parts here. - Yeah, we need more info. I'm just saying not the asshole. (laughing) - Drawing back to that experience, you have, yeah, no. I don't know, I mean, there's so much. I definitely think there's something in the house. I've had a lot of like possession stories like in the house, like where the house itself has like issues. - Okay. - Like, had a story in the past where it was an old miner's house, like coal miner. - Like an old child. - Yeah. And this person would always hear heavy boots. And like, there was like a certain room that was like probably his room. And so there was always issues if you stayed in that room. And so I'm just like, I wonder if this is like, the house has this entity in it. - The boots, the house demon. - That is like, please don't go in grandpa's room. Like, stay the hell out of here. And it's like, trying to really get OP out of there. Like knocking on the window. - Yeah. - I don't know. - I don't know. So yeah, that's the moving piece thing where it's like, is it a demon trying to get the person or like, is grandpa trying to warn them? Usually with a story like this, not that, you know, in the most experience, but like, we have some kind of vibe of like, okay, I bet this person cared so much that they came back. Like, here we have maybe demon or some kind of thing in the room. Maybe grandpa ghost, maybe friend ghost, maybe mom ghost, at this point I'm like, am I a ghost? Like, what's the deal? - And I really start to wonder, or is this person just like, seriously connected with the other side? And like, this is how they're starting to learn about it. - Fair, yeah. - Like, maybe they're psychic. What do you think about kids? You know how they say like, kids are more sensitive to seeing things? - I, I don't know. I used to be, as a kid, I used to have dreams that were pretty like, dead on for things that like would happen the next day, but also like, I don't know. I don't know. - Yeah. - Like, could be coincidental. I even, in like, I don't know, early 20s, my then girlfriend basically told me like, we were long distance, but she like kind of isn't. She was like, hey, I need to tell you something that happened. You know, I went for a walk with an ex of mine and he like tried to kiss me, but I was just, you know, saying like, we're fully done, but like, you know, whatever. So she was like, confessing that and I was just like, oh, shit. that a couple of days ago. And she was like, what? And I was like, yeah, were you wearing, you know, that one like knit sweater you had that was yellow? And she was like, and I was like, yeah, okay. Well, I dreamt it. So like, I doesn't feel a shocking. So you are, you're super in tune. Maybe. No, I think you are. And I so I think that's like, maybe what's going on with this person is like, I think kids have a certain like vulnerability or aura or openness that they see things. And as we go older, we kind of lose that. But I then think there's experiences or things that can happen that can like kind of open that door. Interesting. And it seems like that's maybe what's happening with him where I'm like, I don't know if you saw your friend. I think you might have genuinely seen her spirit. And I do believe visitation dreams are a way for like past people to connect with us. Like I had one after my grandma's funeral where she literally like, I was at her funeral in my dream. And she sat up in the casket. And it was just like, don't worry, I'm okay. And like was talking to me. And I'm like, okay, that was weird. But it's definitely like a visitation dream. And like people have them all the time. And I think that's like the grandpa was definitely trying to warn our writer. And I think it's because our writer is more sensitive to things. Yeah, maybe like who knows how many things are trying to get a message across. And then I mean clearly like clearly trying to send a message with the scratch marks. I just mean in general, like something's trying to get a message across. So this person is, yeah, you know, enough of a conduit. But like, that's the word conduit. Yes. Thank you. Yeah. I also remember as a kid, I had a dream where like my dad used to go on a lot of business trips. I didn't know this at the time. But like one time his life was like very much in danger. And I, you know, didn't know that as a kid. But I had dreamt that like my dad was driving me on this like one stretch of road. And like turned around and was like, Hey, just so you know, my business trip is going to last a couple extra days. But I'll be home. Like, don't worry. And I was like, okay. So like literally next day, my mom is driving me on the same stretch of road. And it's like, by the way, your dad called. He's going to be a couple days late. And I'm like, yeah, no. And so, but at the same time, like, no, you're psychic. You're psychic. For a lot of it for me, it's a lot of like the Tism pattern recognition. But there used to be a thing on Smosh, where like a lot of like Smosh fans would be like hashtag gaining a psychic. No, I genuinely think you are. I will say. I think there is something yes to the pattern recognition because I'm the same way. Yeah. Like it almost feels like it's common sense. You're like, I know how this is going. But the stuff like, I don't know that, like all the experiences you've described. I'm like, how would you have known that your partner at the time was going to go on a walk with their ex and wear that yellow sweater? Like, who knows? That's psychic. I will say disclaimer. I stopped even joking about that much because I started getting a lot of DMs. And this is not to shame anybody. I started getting a lot of DMs from people being like, Hey, I'm the same as you, but I don't know how to control it. Can you teach me? Or like, I don't know how to explore it. Can you? Because you seem to be farther along. Can you guide me? And so that's when I was like, okay. We're shutting that door. Shutting that door. Okay, hashtag not psychic. That's like not psychic. Hashtag probably something else. But not poop-pooing anybody else's thing. Maybe everybody who ever DMed me is like, I don't know. But I'm just like, I don't know what answers you are seeking. And I don't have them for you. Yeah. So we definitely have some listeners that are psychic and are clairvoyant or whatever. Like, we've had people on, we do spooky on my dad's podcast too, father knows. Oh cool. And we had one woman who like would get dreams to predict family members' death. And like every woman in her line had the same gift. And so it's just like, it is like, it is kind of a bummer because you're like, I know it's going to happen. But like, yeah. There's nothing you can do. Exactly. Like, I don't want to predict anything. No. So we do have a lot of people out there. And I feel like people more so now than ever, I feel like people are open about talking about that. Which I think is great. I think openness about talking about whatever is great, whether it's, you know, I don't know. So you can find your teacher on YouTube. If you, if you feel you have a gift, that's great. Yeah. I don't, I don't personally believe I do. If someone else believes that they do, I think that's great. Yeah. And I mean that, not even in a patronizing way. That's wonderful. It's your boat. Live your life. I don't care. I'm not looking at your plate. You have your meal. I'll have mine. Everybody's got to eat. And, and we do. And sometimes it's a person. Welcome to the meat store. That is so insane to me. Off camera too. We talked about a call back to a story we read ages ago about the guy who had his foot amputated and then decided to try it. I don't remember who I gave that story to. I think it must have been, it feels like something I would give Chris Clemens, to be honest. It does. Do you find me like I gave it to Spencer? I gave it to Spencer. Spencer. Also probably had an insane reaction. I have only, I like followed Spencer on TikTok like way back in the day. And then at like the last VidCon I went to Saren was like, oh my god. Hi. Like we kind of know each other. We're done. And it was, I don't know, even then it was just like the best vibes on real energy. Like the daily screen is so good. I love all the activism. But by far, some of the most insane reactions. And Bailey actually pulled another story for today. The lamp story. The lamp story. And I was like, I already did that with Spence law. And the reaction again. Like you can't top those reactions. That's a good use of that story. I know. I can only imagine. Okay. So also from our slash paranormal titled past my dead friend about 20 minutes ago, trigger warning friends. It does mention suicide. He ended his life at the end of May. I just passed him going the other way in his Lexus. And he waved and pointed at me. I hit my brakes and looked in my rear view mirror. But the road was empty. I saw his car approaching me for about four seconds and thought, damn, that looks like Ryan's Lexus. And then, damn, that looks like Ryan too. Then he just waved at me to no car to be found behind me. The road that's happened on is one that he and I would meet on at the end of it to go hiking during the fall and winter. That's some CGI Paul Walker. Look, he didn't think I'd let you leave without saying goodbye, did you? He's been a long day. And then that's crazy. It's really interesting because the more and more, I see stuff like this, the more and more, I believe physical affirmations too. No, what's that word? Apparitions. Apparitions. Yeah. Thank you. Time for your daily apparitions. I am enough and also a ghost. I saw someone, I saw someone who was getting a reading from a medium on TikTok. And the the medium was like, your mom is asking you about the 99 cent store. And she goes, yeah, ask her if she found it or something. And then the user shared a picture. She was like, I swear to god, I saw my mom at the 99 cent store a couple of years ago. And it's a picture of a woman sitting in her car. And she's like, that's my mom. Crazy. And like, there's people that are starting to see reflections, like a full-ass reflection of someone in a mirror or a glass. That's not there. But then if you see the reflection and compare it to pictures of them, you're like, oh no, that's them. Wild. So I'm like, are they there the whole time? Or are they like, are there multiple realms that we can't see? But how's he driving a car? Well, yeah, that's true. Ghost can't have a license to drive. And I'll stick to that. And I don't care who cancels me. I don't know. I think there's something to, if anything, you know, my dad had said previously to me, like, everything is magic until you understand it. And I don't know if you got that from anywhere. But like, it's magic until you can call it science. Yeah. So I'm like, if anything, there could be something about the time of a space and, you know, what is playing out at a different time, but sort of hiccups, you know, like I've heard stories of like, oh, there's, you know, I was in this old building and there, you know, I saw somebody like from the knees up coming from the ground. But like, then I found out that there was like an older building 200 years ago that was, and this one was built on top of it. Like, so it's that kind of stuff that I'm like, okay, maybe, maybe. So maybe there's something to that on the road. Or your brain, just like, recalling a time and the memory is so strong that it almost manifests itself as a real physical entity in front of you. Yeah. That'd be cool. The mind is a powerful thing. Our brains really are. Like, it's honestly, it's kind of overwhelming how insane our brains are. Yeah. And saying in the membrane, actually talking about like a friendly ghost situation, I know I've told this on the internet before, but I used to love the idea of like spooky stuff and ghosts as a kid, especially. And when I went to Disneyland for the Disney world for the first time, with my parents, I was like, what, five, I don't know, um, little babbo. And I remember being on the haunted mansion. And as you go through the end with those mirrors, you know, they show those ghosts behind you, but the voice is like. "Be careful, you might take something home with you." And I remember my parents being like, "Oh, I hear that, Damien. "Carefully might take something home." And when I got home as a kid, like back to Georgia, I remember running to the bathroom and looking in the mirror as quick as I could. And I didn't see anything. And I was like, "Guys, where is it?" And they're like, "What do you mean?" And I'm like, "They said I could take a ghost home." Like when I get home, there will be a ghost. I, it was like the big round chubby ghost. (laughing) Yes, and I was like, "I thought that was my new ghost friend "that I was gonna live with me when I got home." Forever. So like, that was the mindset of me as a kid. Not like, "Oh, ghost." It was like, "I can't wait to get home "where my ghost will be waiting." Oh, you really did want a ghost friend. Yeah, I really did. You, you know, you might have picked up a hitchhiker from the Haunted Mansion because a lot of people do throw their loved ones ashes in there. Then they end up cleaning the whole thing immediately after they vacuumed it right up, which is what Luigi does and that mansion. So. Which Luigi and Mario? Luigi's Mansion, yeah. He vacuumed up ghosts. So, I think it'd be in there. Yeah, I did just try to Google how many people have been scattered in the Haunted Mansion. Exact total is unknown. It's, it's a lot. Workers reported happens at least once a month. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm like, what do you think's gonna happen? Like I even get it for anything that has anything organic. Like outside of the Haunted Mansion. Yeah. There I was being given a tour one time and they were like, oh, look at this patch. You might recognize it. And I was like, is that grass from Georgia? And they were like, yes, this grass is from the United States South because it was flown in specifically to be, you know, this southern vibe. But I'm like, that's a patch of dirt. Throw the ashes there maybe. Like what are you doing on the plastic ass mansion? Well, it gives you a lifetime band too if you get caught. And after life too, clearly. Yeah, you can't go back to Disneyland. Oh, so I scattered some remains on the children's play park. Sorry, this was America. I guess it depends on how much. Maybe the lifetime band isn't a thing if it's only a little vile. But if it's the whole urn, you know? Yeah, I wonder, you know what? This is what I wonder. What's the largest amount someone has tried to get away with? 'Cause I obviously like a little, little baggy of something. Maybe you could tuck it in. But like who's sneaking in the whole like fake pregnancy belly to be like surprise? Whole urn. Oh, no, now I can totally see that. I'm like, what are they putting it in a backpack? Yeah. Well, probably in that little like, hermetically sealed little brick. Like, yeah. Oh my God, no, the pregnant, the belly hack would be good. See? Okay, let's wrap us up with a good story. All right. That involves a bird. I'm so excited. Do you like being, like, do, 'cause I'm like a horse girl. Yeah. Are you a bird boy? Yeah. Yeah. I, one time, like my family was having a meal and like some strip mall. And I was like, I'm gonna go wander. There was a pet store. I wanna go see it. And I remember like walking in and there was like an open display of birds. And I was like, can you pick them up? Is that okay? And they were like, yeah, if you want, but be careful. I dip both arms in and I come out with three full parrots. And I'm like, hey guys. And what? The person working was like, please buy, please buy one. And I was like, I can't. I don't live anywhere near here, but goodbye. They just gravitated towards you. Yeah, sweet beans. Do you have a bird right now? I was raised with birds. Okay. Buy birds, really. Yeah. No. The talking parrot teaching you your ABCs. Exactly. Loud. Loud child, I was. No. But yeah, I grew up with four birds and those were like the family pets. That's so cool. My neighbors have a bird and I told her I was like, let me know if you need me to babysit. Because it's so fun. And it's a talker. Yeah. I hear it just talking sometimes. Little jabber drones. Yeah. So this one is coming from our slash paranormal. It's titled, I almost got hit by a car and then a bird appeared. Last year when I was about three months pregnant, I hopped in the car to grab some breakfast with my dog. On the way back home, we were going straight on a one way intersection and had a green light. As I was going through the intersection, a Jeep ran the intersecting red light going 60 to 70 miles per hour. I slammed the brakes, paused in shock, continued through and then started crying. The one thing going through my head was that I could have lost myself, my dog, my unborn baby, not even a minute after a bird landed on my windshield. It stayed there for a while as I continued driving. I eventually pulled over to process what had happened and look at my new friend. The bird eventually flew over to my passenger rear window. It sat there for a while. My dog was trying to eat it through the window, then it flew away. For some reason, the bird made me feel safer and calmed my nerves. I wish I knew what it meant if it even means anything. What it means is it calmed your nerves. Who knows? There's any amount of mystery you want to add to it, go for it, but you need it a little buddy in that moment. Your dog was slacken, somehow, and then a little bird. There's the bird, the picture of it sitting on the window. Oh, sweet spirit. I can't. Do you mind if I get a little closer to your horse? Of course. You're like, I'm going to tell you what bird it is. No, maybe. I'm just trying to see if it's like, oh, that's a little buddy. That is, I think that's a Robin, but female. Okay. That beak is meant for seeds. Wait a minute. Is it a lost bird? Is it a rare bird? It's not lost, but looking at that plumage, I now don't think it's a grown, anything. I think that could be like a juvenile, like, I could be so wrong here, I could be so stupid, but that's not a seed beak, I lied. That could very easily be like a young, like, a kestrel or something, like, young baby bird of prey situation, because at first I was like, oh, no, is it like a bird that somebody lost? But that looks like it belongs in that location, wherever that looks like. It does look like a wild bird. Yeah. I don't know. Like, I've had a relatively young, like, hawk, like, try to fly into my window before and, like, hit the glass and get a little bit stunned and need to, like, wait around. So, my gosh. Looking at that, it does look like it has the very, like, young plumage, but it also could just be a thing where it's a little blurry and I could be so flipping wrong. No, it is hard to tell. It does, like, puffy, like, a little puffy. Puffy. Yeah. Yeah. Like, the young feathers. Yeah. You know? My favorite rapper. Young feather? Young feathers. Could be one. Apparently, there's a lot of lore around birds as spiritual messengers, including between pregnant women and their unborn children. Oh. That's specific. Yeah. Um, a lot of people are, like, really surprised that the bird would sit there, especially with the dog going at it. Yeah. And so they're, like, no, it must have really been a message for you or, like, a loved one, kind of, like, coming back and being, like, got you, like, guardian angel, like, popping in to say hi. That's very sweet. Someone's like, in all my years, I've never seen a bird land on a moving car and then stay there and then stay on the car after my theory. You were saved from a terrible accident by spirit intervention and the entity possessed the bird to say, I'm here for you. Oh. It's very sweet. I know. I know. I know a piece. It's like, I wish I could post the live photos. The bird was chirping so much. So it's like sitting there chirping at her being like, hey, hey, you hear me? You see that? Did I do that? Do you know what that is? That's the word being like, oh my god, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry because clearly they were supposed to get here five minute sooner to slow down your car before you got to the intersection so that you didn't even run into this in the first place. They get there afterwards. They're like, oh, thank god. You're okay. I would have been in so much trouble. I'm so sorry. Like, sorry. It was late. Yeah. Downtown is busy. It's hard to get over here as a bird. It is really just insane too. Like, a lot of people in the comments are like getting a near miss as well pregnant is a different kind of scary. I can't imagine. Like, because as you and somebody else, like, oh, and the person goes on to say birds are heavy in symbolism. But light in bones. What's the ratio that allows them to fly? Oh, no idea. Where they're not. Dents? Yeah. They're just not dense there. They got those hollow bones, but people say hollow bones, but they got all the circulatory stuff in there too. There's all sorts of stuff going on. I know. But bird bone bass. Bone bass. Bone whale. Scary fish. Bird bone mass makes up about 6% of the total body weight. That's awesome. And roughly 8% in the heavy flying birds. Like, that's nothing. That's pretty cool. What is it in humans? I'm going to guess, like, God, like, 65% 14. What? No way. Human skeleton makes up 12 to 14% of body weight. We're just juicy. Where's I am? We're just juicy. We're thick. We're just thick and juicy. Boyant, full of water. And, you know, who shouldn't describe us that way? The meat store. Oh, God. That one's really going to stick with you, huh? I think it's just becoming a bit of a vocal stem. The meat store. The meat store. The meat store. Like, I think it would be a rare day that I'm like, can you help me out and head on down to the, um, fucking, the meat store and pick up some, like, some meat, some meat, some carne, please. Where's the beef? Where? And really, where was that beef? Where's the beef? was the beef the whole time? There was a comment on that. that meat store one that I forgot to read, that's coming back to me. And it was the top comment and it was like, now that's a let's not meat, MEAT. - Where my, where my, where my, where my arm? - I know, and I was like, now I'm like, oh, wow. - That's coming. - How'd you really screw that one up? Come on Morgan, come on. - Come on Morgan. - But these are jokes we're allowed to make because she survived. - She did, she did. She did get some questions too where people are like, what I'm gonna pop out of the guy, she goes, I don't know, COVID happened shortly after and I moved. - I was gonna say, 'cause she was like, it's our new neighbor, like that's gonna come up. - I know, I wonder if there's any, 'cause they're finding new serial killers every day. Like I wonder if there's any serial killers who own the meat store. - There would have to be a higher crossover than the average person. - There's, there's a few, I think about it. - Yeah, the case that you guys covered. - Robert Pickton. - Robert Pickton. - Oh, the wood chipper, murderer. Yeah, that was just a guy who wanted to get rid of his wife. But the pig farmer was Robert Pickton. Bad, bad, bad day. Yeah. - That's, yeah. Bad day for everybody involved. Also, let's talk about the pigs, poor pigs. - I know. - They didn't wanna eat Diane. They just wanted to have their little slippy slop and run around in the mud, like all pigs do. - Mm, I hate this. I do too. Would you be mad if I turned out to have been a ghost the whole time? - No. - Okay. - Before you do your ghostly fade, where can people find you? How can they subscribe, follow your content? - Yeah, I'm Damien Haas on all socials. Mostly Instagram and TikTok these days. Also Twitch have been streaming for like eight years. But I'm a voice actor. You may also know me from the YouTube channel Smosh. Voice acting wise, by the time this is out, I think it's still going a steel ball run on Netflix.
