Two new possibilities for Quinn Hughes

The episode blends heartfelt tributes to Dolly Parton with a lively discussion about the NHL’s expansion plans. Dolly is portrayed as a genuine, empathetic, and culturally aware figure whose music and personal actions have deeply influenced fans across generations. Her decision to rename "Dolly’s Dixie Stampede" reflects humility and a willingness to grow, illustrating a life rooted in kindness and self-awareness. The conversation also turns to the NHL’s potential expansion into Houston and Atlanta, driven by business goals to increase TV value. While these moves are seen as smart financially, critics question their cultural relevance and long-term impact, particularly given the lack of established fan engagement in these markets. The segment includes humorous and fan-driven moments, such as a mock jersey giveaway and a playful debate over who would wear a "double zero" jersey. Ultimately, the episode balances heartfelt appreciation for influential cultural icons with critical reflection on modern sports expansion, emphasizing the importance of empathy, authenticity, and community in both music and hockey fandom.

It's, I don't want to say it's a waste of time for us to try to articulate why, but everybody knows that she was the fucking best. She wrote, I think for most people's money, the greatest breakup song ever in all, I will always love you. Everybody can have their like, oh, I want to put on Dolly Parton song and it's going to be a different song. There's, she's also one of those artists that you're like, oh, you know what? I think I only know a handful of Dolly Parton songs. And then you hear a million songs and you're like, oh, I know all this shit. Just a wonderful person. And even if you didn't fuck with her music, I think that everybody fucked with who she was as a person. So enormous loss for everybody. But also we get a day yesterday where everybody starts talking about how much they love Dolly Parton. Ultimately not a horrible day. Did you see the Eminem post? Yeah, that was pretty sweet. John, did you see that? No. And I'm quite honestly not positive whether or not you're talking about the candy or the rapper, the rapper, the rapper, he never met Dolly Parton, but he shared a letter that she sent him after he was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. And it was just like Dolly Parton, like gushing over Eminem being like, I don't understand rap music, but I understand you're great at it. And I feel like this weird kinship to you. And I hope that we get to meet someday. Yeah, that was like, that is very cool. It was cool seeing like, I didn't see that, but seeing artists like that, that are like, obviously of like a past generation kind of at this point. And then like seeing Sabrina Carpenter gush over, like seeing artists and people from all generations, like my youngest sister, who's 23 is like obsessed with Dolly Parton. It was a tough day for her yesterday, but she's like a young girl from Western New York and she loves Dolly Parton for who she is. So yeah, Dolly Parton. Yeah, Dolly Parton. Yeah, Dolly Parton. So yeah, Dolly Parton's the goat. She's one of the goats, you know, about the Dixie Stampede. No, she had a thing called the Dixie Stampede. It was a, it was a dinner attraction. I don't know what that means, but she had a thing called I believe Dolly's Dixie Stampede. And I feel like we don't do enough dinner attractions anymore. I feel like dinner has just been isolated as the attraction. But I mean, in Hawaii I did a luau and that's like a dinner attraction. You go eat dinner and some shit happens. I did a dinner attraction last night. You know what I made for dinner? Oh yeah. You made the chef's grilled cheese. Yeah. And I called Dinguson because when I finished making it, I was like, yo, come in here. And she was like, what do you need? And I was like, for you to come in here. She was like, is it actually something like I'm doing something or whatever? And I was like, get the fuck in here. DJ. Yelling at his wife. It's a great bit. That, uh, you know what I was doing there? Yeah. The, the crunch, the crunch of cutting grilled cheese. Oh my God. Amazing. That's that's a dinner attraction. It's not, I don't, I don't know what you're making. Not only is it not, I don't know what a dinner attraction is like a show, a dinner and a show from the dinner. Yeah. Dinner and a show basically. Oh, okay. With the exception of, would you consider hibachi? Uh, cause that's like the, the, the show, the D that is kind of, no, that's making a show. Show of dinner. So Kirk gets it. I'm more of a dinner with a song and dance kind of guy. I mean, I think just generally you're a song and dance guy. I'm probably a song and dance man, but, uh, we can't, we can't, we can't gloss past how fucking rightfully and hopefully pissed Julia was that that was the, the thing that she was holding the knife. No, no, no. She was hyped up. She was like, oh, fuck. Yeah. Because I mean, I had that cheddar, I had that Gruyere and then I had more of that cheddar on there. So it was, it, it was more of a song and dance. You're right. But anyway, she had a thing called Dolly's Dixie stampede and in the 2010s pre 2020 pre, I think kind of social reckoning or whatever changed it to call, changed it to a Dolly Parton stampede and the chicks. Yeah. And shout out the chicks and Colton had told me about this and they asked her like, why'd you change that name? And And she was like, "Ah, well, I learned more about the like whole Dixie thing and you know like hand up uh and she just I think very casually was like I I knew better so I did better and just kind of like moved on that was a cool thing about didn't ask for credit didn't say didn't put out a long like I am appalled it didn't blame somebody else for calling it that or whatever was just like you know what hand up my bad I didn't know that and these are things that hopefully we do where like I remember we were talking like on a it was this show or whatever we were calling the flight attendant like automatically the stewardess we were like oh you know what that's sexist not the end of the world but like let me catch that going forward she just did that kind of silently didn't make it didn't uh say shame on anybody or whatever was just like hey my bad I probably could have gotten away with continuing to do that but I'm just gonna make that little change that's a fucking good person man and that's a million examples there's a million examples by far the coolest thing about her to me was that she never she never acted like she was like doing something special it was always just like well why the fuck wouldn't I why wouldn't I treat people kindly why wouldn't I accept people she like uh like I know there's a story about her entering a dolly part and look-alike contest and her winning like I believe it was a drag contest like she doesn't she didn't give a fuck she was just like I don't know like a happy person I think that's cool as shit apologies to Tim Curry for getting death mobbed for getting I mean a legend in his own right I think that I speak for all of us Tim Curry when I say we love you well he was in a movie once with uh with Donald Trump so he's canceled ah I I no disrespect to that man I don't know anything about Tim Curry oh really you don't know anything about Tim Curry you don't know anything about Tim Curry you don't know anything about Tim Curry oh I feel like you'd love Rocky Horror Picture Show yeah I I I am fairly confident that I would I've just never because I if I'm gonna see Rocky Horror Picture Show I need to see it as like a Rocky Horror Picture Show showing that's the whole experience dinner and a show oh yeah yeah well yeah it was oh is it a dinner like I is dinner part of it I really don't know much about no but I mean you can bring dinner it's like going to see the room draft house fair enough everything's a dinner and a show I shout out people on patreon by the way who told me that there is indeed a Alamo draft house version of AMC a list if you listen to the patreon episode on Monday I'm considering leaving AMC I'm never gonna do it but I might get that thing it's like the same price $30 a month and nope this is not an ad um but you can keep going there and nobody's gonna misbehave take their shoes off and have their doodigs straight up out during a movie the way I do it I'm not gonna do it I'm not gonna do it I experienced the other day. What's on the show today, Pete? Today on the show, let us discuss perhaps, oops, all teams. Too many fucking teams. The NHL is acquiring all the teams. Too much shit on me. Too much fucking shit on me. We're going to talk about the fact that you might be getting two, two new teams. The year of 77, that's how many teams are going to be in the NHL soon. Yes. Very good. Didn't think you'd get that. Shana joins the show. It's a Shana Goldman episode. We always love those. And then finally, Simple Dinosaurs. What's that about? Stupid ass dinosaurs. Yeah, we've got some movie updates. If you tune into the Patreon episode this week, me and Sean made a handshake deal to both acquire one viewed movie a piece. And we followed through, not to. Spoil. But we'll talk about that towards the end of the episode. Yes, yes, yes. We got great things today, beginning with we're getting more teams. Last week, Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said to Chris Johnson that the NHL was, quote, moving forward in Texas. Shout out Ella Langley. Do at your own demise. And that if that song is going to get abused at whatever this new Texas team is. Oh, but the thing is, they've already chosen Texas. It's a matter. The choice now comes down to because, as Bill Daly said to Chris Johnson, if everything goes well, the league will be able to announce at the end of this calendar year that they're expanding to either Houston or Austin. I think we all know what it's going to be. It's going to be Houston. Everybody, if you haven't, check out the summer episode that was dropped yesterday of 32 Thoughts. Elliott Friedman has a theory that we're getting two more American teams to inflate the price of the next TV deal in America. There's two years left on the current deal. And Elliott says, you know, they get two more big American markets that should juice the value of that contract. Houston is the sixth largest designated market area and Atlanta is the seventh. So those are the two that he's talking about from Elliott Friedman on 32 Thoughts. Quote, I think the NHL needs this expansion in time for the next U.S. TV deal. And if they can add Houston six and Atlanta seven, they think it's going to make them even more valuable. It's a TV property. So my guesstimate, Houston, Atlanta, if they can do it, new TV deal. And then he goes on to add. And then maybe after that, that's where you see our friend Gary Bettman maybe step down into some sort of advisory thing and set up Bill Daly to take over as commissioner. So the so two new teams, new deal, Bettman down, Daly up 34 teams. Can I make a official deck or declaration? Yes, we are entering the strip club era of the National Hockey League. I mean, Houston and Atlanta, Houston, Atlanta, Atlanta, Vegas, strip club, hop, hotbeds. Yep. They're on. It's a drink. We're going to have we're going to have a final four at some point down the line. Conference finals between Montreal and Atlanta and Vegas and Houston and strippers are going to get paid. All seven games internationally. Who would be the first team to promote strippers at their games? I mean, that's an obvious question. Yeah. Atlanta already tried to do that with the basketball team. Oh, right, right, right, right, right. So, I mean, to answer your question, none of them because it would get canceled like the Magic City night in Atlanta did. But Atlanta would certainly be the first lame. Yeah, it's just it was such a gross misunderstanding, such a gross misunderstanding of Atlanta culture. And it was definitely like outside influence. But it is what it is. Atlanta does excite me. Houston, no disrespect. Like Austin is the more appealing option there just because it's more off the beaten path. And I just like we were talking about it before the show. How much does Houston even show up for the Texans? And like I understand that might be as a result of the Cowboys kind of owning the NFL in Texas. But the Texans have been around. They've been around long enough and haven't really had much of an impact on the NFL. Yeah, I cannot get excited for Houston. I'm sure I will. There will be something weird enough about it or there will be some bit or game that we come up with attached to it. I'm not concerned as far as that goes. I am concerned in terms of like actual juice for how excited am I for this Houston hockey team? I've told the story of watching games. Whatever of whatever year one of the years that the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. I watched it on 6th Street in Austin and there are a bunch of people wearing hockey jerseys and it was a weird. It was a random ass but great time and I was like fuck people showing out for hockey here in Austin. They would get into it there. They would like they show up for the Verde. Absolutely in Major League Soccer Austin. I know it's not the TV market, but Austin. Austin would be so into it as a like city and a community more so pound for pound than Houston would but I get it. Houston's a volume play. It's also just kind of weird and I don't want to use like the word icky but like having expansion just for the sake of boosting the numbers on your TV deal. Like I get it that it's good business, but it does seem like a cash grab, right? So I don't know. It's just I think I to begin with. I already. Have negative thoughts about 34 teams just because I feel like that's too many teams and I'm not all all that excited about the two markets that are potentially being introduced just for clarity sake. I guess Houston the Texans did very well in attendance last year. They were seventh in total attendance in the entire NFL behind my Buffalo Bills and in front of the Baltimore Ravens. So I mean it doesn't really account for like stadium size. It's. It is like total heads, but I just feel like there's like no cultural impact of the Houston Texans that I agree. Although it seems like they're trying because the jerseys the jerseys that they just released are fucking sick and the video they released with it was very H town. It was a very much enjoyed it. But yeah, I don't neither of these Atlanta doesn't excite me at all. Like yeah. No, it's your third time trying. But I mean, we've talked about this before. Like if Atlanta actually leans into the culture of Atlanta and being more representative of. the market rather than just doing like the thrashers the flames like the thrashers i don't even know it's hard for me to even remember what like their brand identity was i just remember it being pretty confusing and peverly hillbillies no supports all i remember is the peverly hillbillies yeah which is people who were like hey we're in the south and we have a player named peverly that's enough for us peverly hillbillies he was only on the team until they put a team back in phoenix that's what bums me out that when he's talking about when elliot's talking about these markets and i'm not shooting the messenger here but i'm like if you're doing stuff in the states send it back to phoenix the problem is sean just as you said why are you going to keep going back to atlanta you know people are going to say well it didn't work the first time in phoenix so why would they try it again so soon i mean i would say it's a wildly different so i granted i don't know as much the circumstance why atlanta's left twice but there was like a agreement in place for the nhl to return to phoenix when it left phoenix so i feel like it's a slightly different circumstance and also they've only tried it once not twice that's right uh and you've probably heard this once or twice but i'm gonna say it to you again uh the nation network has partnered with levelware to bring you a whole new standard of apparel premium fabs elevated fits i mean if you're gonna say fit oh no fit means like how it fits i thought it was like elevated outfits but you can't elevate your outfits with these fabrics and more variety than ever before and we will place the emphasis on the fabrics it's so good it feels high quality so good shit's premium it's that shit that feels good frankly for me uh introducing the limited edition off-season social club collection built for the sports between sports from polos to premium to hats and hoodies these are pieces designed for every part of your lifestyle not just game day because being a fan isn't just a season it's who you are we know that well head to nationgear.ca follow nation gear on social and subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to shop new products limited edition collections and exclusive drops uh to some number chat okay it's analytics time ebugs emergency backup goaltenders will wear double zeros going forward across the board if an ebug is in the game they will be wearing double zero uh shout out who wears double zero gritty gritty yep that's gonna be jordan clarkson uh was it robert parish yeah i was like uh yes it was robert parish i was like i knew there was a basketball player i knew there was a basketball player yeah because walter mccarty wore zero and robert parish wore double zero uh retired tony delk dude you're getting a delk tony delk he couldn't have worn it for the celtics but famously tony delk was not the uh stay on one team kind of guy fucking three to the dome carmelo anthony wore double zero for a couple of years oh wait really yeah with the trailblazers the trailblazers oh man is uh there's a tristan karevich who apparently plays for the centers uh this plays for the the wizards and he wears double zero so lots of people wear double zero and uh that includes ebugs now my only real question off this sean you're very excited by that do you think people are gonna be buying double zero jerseys i'm not until someone gets into a game but i think if an ebug gets into a game especially if they do something people will like yeah i think they would absolutely buy that jersey are they are they allowed to do that like are they allowed to sell because they're not part of the nhlpa are they i think it would be uh you got to go online well you were customizing a an ennis canter uh wnba jersey the other day i was saying that was my charlie kirk jersey that was that's right yeah i apologize um really i only brought up the ebug number thing because i wanted to set up a more important and greater jersey number discussion you know where we're going here uh huge development in utah where slc puck snapped a pick from the mammoth team store where they are making tijaginla jerseys with the number 77 this is massive for sean as he has wanted a tijaginla jersey since we were in utah a couple years ago but hasn't been able to get one because as was the case when you boys tried to get me a michael nisa jersey until they're actually on the team and they're not able to get one because they're not able to get you can't get those jerseys made which kind of makes sense so uh you can now get a tijaginla or it seems he's going to be wearing number 77 so if you want a tijaginla jersey that will be the number that you get sean why is this especially interesting for you because i already fucking i'm halfway to one already i damn near have a tijaginla 77 jersey thanks to some mischief on pete's part we're gonna play a video if you do not know every year we do a stream where we get jerseys and last year we did like surprise jerseys so let's see if i can remember this pete and sean got me a jersey sean and i got pete a jersey and pete and i got sean a jersey and we made a video of ourselves discussing what we'd get for them we then did a guessing game and if you guessed which jersey we got you had a chance of winning the game so we're gonna play a video if you do not know every year win a free jersey courtesy of fanatics it was i went back to cut this part of the uh video and i remembered it at the time like the feeling of like this is the most captivating shit we have ever done and it was we're doing it again but it was like it really felt like we were doing a game show i was like this is what i want to be doing like this what chaos stuff is close to it but this is what we ought to be doing i did have uh yeah i mean that was i think that the the format of that that one worked out very very well it was very captivating um and i'm i think that we're gonna put a new spin on it this year because i remember floating out an idea halfway through this past year and we were in on that idea yeah i can't remember what the plan is for this year but last year's was super fun the year before we just picked our jerseys but we didn't tell anybody else and folks had to guess pete and sean both got the same jersey a uh quentin byfield jersey it was the first year of the new kings jersey so it was very sick uh this is the video oh and you should know the setup for this was um sean's favorite player on the sabers until he was traded to the mammoth was jj peterka so when we were picking jerseys for people i was more on the side of let's have fun pete was more on the side of let's kind of fuck with the person and get them a jersey that we could say oh you wanted this and maybe they didn't actually that doesn't sound like me here is the video of and ultimately i sided on like who's more passionate about this and pete was way more passionate about fucking with people so here's a little recap of sean getting a jj peterka jersey sean what were the most popular picks for you let's see here most popular guesses sean we're all mammoth players oh my goodness all mammoth players a little respect for us please gunther cooley the peterka one kind of was like i don't i don't like i don't know that i'm in a great place with jj peterka so like i don't know that i necessarily want so i would make a mammoth jersey that would make that like a little fucky that'd be some games actually a little bit oh okay you're on the right track with simashev because jj peterka mammoth jersey checks multiple boxes because he loves the utah mammoth he loves that jersey we don't have one of those jerseys yet and jj peterka was his favorite buffalo saver so getting him that for uh for a mammoth would kind of be a bittersweet tug of the emotions for him you ready to find out yeah sean this is going to be fantastic r.i.p sean could not be setting up better r.i.p the waves who is it but who is it jesus god damn it you fucking rats you fucking rats the look on your face at the end was like this is funny i guess but like i thought i was getting a jersey that that is missing some really important context was that me and dj went to the beach and i was like i'm gonna go to the beach and i'm gonna go to the i went first and opened up our jerseys and we were thrilled about both of our jerseys and then sean gets his last and it's like i guess fuck me but you convinced sean to fuck with me on my jersey because if you sean can go to my camera uh you got me a dylan holloway blues jersey which cool jersey and i love dylan holloway but there's a little knife twisting there yeah there's a little salt on the wound of like that was your that was a guy you liked a lot and i was like i'm gonna go on your team. Now he's not on your team anymore. If you'd gotten me Broberg, I probably would have thrown it in your face. I mean, we. Well. We also, like, came very close to having two unexpected, like, sort of unicorn jerseys or, like, the aging of those jerseys for two of them could have aged so poorly. I got Leo Carlson. Oh, right. So Leo Carlson Duck's jersey could have been horribly aged one year later. I mean, obviously, Paterka's not in Utah anymore. That's crazy. I just got to say, there's a lot of people in the chat. I'm not rooting for J.J. Paterka. Like, I'm not rooting for the Bruins. I'm not getting a Bruins jersey. People will be like, oh, the Paterka jersey is going to look great. If it was a Bruins jersey, I would have actually set it on fire. Well, no. I mean, it's a jersey that kind of twisted the knife at the time. Now it becomes better because you can just rip the nameplate off that thing if you want and throw a Ginla one on it. So that's the question now, Sean. That is a Fanatics premium jersey. It will be screen seen. Yes. If you replace the nameplate, which, say you knew a guy, nameplate is the, I would say, probably the only thing I'm confident in that I could do no problem in sewing a jersey. Would you trust? And granted, we're about to have somebody on who's a better seamstress than I am. But. Would you trust me to replace the nameplate on there? And please consider, you fucking hate this jersey as is. So even if I fuck it up, who cares? I'll just buy you one. I mean, I suppose. I mean, so no. The answer is no. I don't. I still need some proof of concept. This is the same conversation we had last year. Suck my dick, you fucking loser. You did this last year when you were like, oh, we could fix jerseys. And Pete and I were both like, you need to prove that. You can do it first. I'm not going to let you just take a jersey when I have no, literally no proof that you're capable of doing it. If you prove that you're capable of doing it, then absolutely. I just don't want to be the experiment. I have fixed curtains. I fixed my friend's bag. I've sewn things, man. And this is a straight fucking line. It's four straight lines. Four times the possibility to fuck it up. Yeah, that's true. Here's the thing, Sean. Here's the catch. If you remove Paterka from your Utah jersey, I'm just going to buy you a JJ Paterka Bruins jersey. Well, like I said, that one will actually like I won't like I have the Paterka one in my closet. I won't take home a Bruins jersey like I'm not associated with that. I won't own a Bruins jersey. So it'll look great in the studio. I'm sure not. Not mine, though. We'll see. Okay. I'm going to I'll do a fucking jersey to prove it to you because as that game proved, I'm a nice guy. Let's not forget that Sean and I brainstormed the nicest possible and most exciting thing we could get for you. There wasn't a lot. There wasn't too much juice on Leo Carlson, not to the degree that it is these days, but like up and coming star. Like this could be his breakout year kind of thing. Pete's tweeted about him. It's a sick looking jersey. Let's do it. Great care put into that. The only thing I will say, oh, I guess additional thing I will say about the like getting the Paterka jersey actually changed is I do think there is something. It is funnier if I just put duct tape over it and write a gala on it because I feel like we've talked about this before. That is also a slight sign of disrespect to the former player and not in a way that crosses any lines. And that's my wheelhouse right there. When you do it to Jeff Skinner, it crosses some lines. Well, yes. Yeah. Like I feel like Paterka is the kind of player that it plays for. Came for a year, like pretty massively underperformed and the people he was traded for. Well, one of the guys who was traded for massively overperformed. Like that's the that's the perfect kind of jersey to tape over. If you would rather put tape on the jersey, then trust me to make you a. Oh, my God. Quality, nice jersey with all the fixings. I will. Well, I will throw ice cream in your face. I mean, don't threaten me with a good time. First off. Secondly, those are two separate things like the getting it replaced, whether it's by you or somebody else. That is just that's one thing. But like part of me thinks it's just funnier to have the jersey name taped over. It's more disrespectful. Professionally fixed. Yeah, it's mostly disrespectful to me. Which like to be very clear, I have no personal problems with JJ Paterka. It's literally just a hockey fandom thing. So I feel like he's otherwise a good guy. He was hanging out with Leon. We didn't talk about that on the show, did we? Him and Davies. Three of them. Yeah. I'd love to get to know JJ Paterka. Maybe the Bruins could make that happen. We'll see. We shall see. For now, we'll have to settle for the best seamstress in hockey. The best sewer in hockey. Seamstress sounds like. I wish my band had one. Yeah, well, and it just sounds like disrespectful. Is there not to do the Michael Scott? Like, is there a less offensive term you would prefer a summer seamer? No, but seamer. Then that sounds like you're just trying to like masculine it up. It's like a Shana Goldman from the Athletic and too many men. Shana. Hey, how are you, pal? Hey, I'm great. I don't know another word for seamstress, though. A sewer, a crafter. Yeah. What do you consider yourself? When you're doing that, you know, like a prized fashion designer, obviously. No, yeah, that's me. Small business owner. That's me. Small business owner making making ends meet. I don't know. I guess upcycler crafter. Hell yeah. Chaos. Total chaos machine. I don't know. I'm the messiest sewer in the world. According to Google, sewist is the is a term. There's also it says dressmaker, tailor. Needle worker and. Couturier. Yo, wait, Couturier. That's hockey. Hold on. Yeah. Yeah. If owing a sewing, a sewing machine means you get to call yourself a dressmaker. That means I am one step to fulfilling my dream of being Reynolds Woodcock, who I am told like a couple times a week that my attitude about certain things can be Reynolds Woodcocky where like, I guess. I get too mad about something that doesn't fucking matter. The and you're horrible to your your significant other. Yeah. Although you see that everybody's doing the like, there's a trend where it's like kind of chic to do whatever. You know, that's the thing. Yeah, the I saw someone posted the video of Reynolds Woodcock going in this this word chic fucking chic. What is this fucking word? Whoever came up with this word should be. What do you say? Spanked in public. Spanked in public. Fucking chic. What a movie. Yeah. Okay. So I'm a dressmaker. And yeah, is from the athletic and too many men. How's your summer been friend? You're recently betrothed. Yes, I am. Congratulations. Thank you. Thank you. Is a very exciting, huge, huge surprise. Turns out every single one of my friends knew about me. So yeah, it was great. So that's not great. So your your loved one is talking about you. Behind your back, talking about me behind my back and everyone's keeping secrets. No one could even give me the heads up like, hey, dye your roots, paint your nails. Very lucky. I did that. Oh, there you go. I mean, that's bad friend behavior. Like you got to you got to look out for the friends. I mean, from what we've gathered in the show in the past, you have a big friend network and and there's a lot of like sharing going on like they have house keys. So I would assume that they would be apprised of your impending engagement. So that's not all that. That's shocking to me. Did they have the ring? No, but they saw it rings. No, they saw apparently like last the Wednesday before we went to Montauk like everyone was here and I ran out for a few and apparently like he showed the ring to everyone like they were pictures sent because he was trying to decipher like I did not know any of this was happening. I was asked a year ago, just like in passing, like, would you want to design your own ring? Do you want that? And I was like, no, and I was asked, like, what do I want? I'm like, I don't know. Ask. My friend, my friend's like, I don't know what you want. Don't do that to me. So I just like gave him like two lines. And apparently I said a non studded ring and everyone was trying to like decipher it. So this was like a big mystery for a few months what that meant. And like, honestly, I don't even remember what it meant. So everyone was like in on this to try to figure it out because like, I didn't know. God, I would have been in hell if I had to make any decisions or choices about the ring. I was so lucky to just have it presented. And to be like, yeah, that's, that's the way it's like, that was just my, I put zero thought into the ring choice, which is exactly the way that I wanted it. Hell yeah. Uh, well, uh, what's a way to transition to this fuck, uh, ring ring, uh, getting a ring is an extension of your relationship to your betrothed. Yes. Uh, how about extensions for some top tier defenseman in the NHL? thinking about that at this point. There we go. Very smooth. Yeah. Elliott says that Elliott Freeman, who has been saying they're going to that Quinn Hughes is going to stay in Minnesota on 32 thoughts was like they haven't been talking or it's been quiet, but he still thinks it's going to happen. And what we get in the meantime is people fighting online and saying that he's going to the Devils or he's staying in Minnesota. What do you think happens? What do you want to happen? I want the situation to drag out and everyone to just go absolutely wild. Get it? Absolutely wild about this because it's the whole like the Hughes's belong to New Jersey discourse. I just I've had enough. So if they all want to just go at it for a couple more months, go off. But like, I honestly feel like the situation kind of is hinging on Cal McCarr, which is good and bad. Like if I'm Quinn Hughes, I do want to know what Cal McCarr gets. But if he takes another discount, then I don't want to know what he gets, if that makes any sense. I think he can still like write his own check essentially regardless. But I I'm very interested to see like how he navigates this and how he gets the right term. Like that's the most interesting part to me. It's not the dollars and cents at this point. It's how many years he's going to get, because if he gets three years, it lines up with Jack Hughes being a free agent. If he gets five years, which is probably the sweet spot and goes along with the trend. Then I think that's the best case scenario for Minnesota. It's their window. You know, sure, you want seven or eight, but this is the window. If you get five years, that's that's great and wonderful. So I still think it could get settled before the summer ends because I'm not sold on Cal McCarr's contract not being done yet. When do you think is like an appropriate time to panic if you're a wild fan? Because like if I was a wild fan, I'd be panicking the second that they acquired Quinn Hughes, given, you know, the cost and sort of like. A ticking time bomb of him being a New Jersey devil and like that cloud is going to hang over them until the ink dries on the contract. So like when is an appropriate time to be like, oh, fuck, this might not happen. Well, part of an appropriate time to panic would have been the last trade deadline when you saw what Minnesota did instead of giving them their best chance to really go for it while they had Gustafson and Wallstead before they had to cut costs before the Kaprizov extension. So I think it's a good time to panic. I think it's a good time to panic. Put in the fucking. i put in years into this fucking thing so i'll just fucking stay on it um anyway no it's true it's so true though because it's like i go on there i post my stuff a couple quick scrolls but honestly like when we were away i had no service and i was like this is the best and i just wasn't checking and then i came back and i'm like i don't need this yet i'll i'll get to that point where this is all i'm doing but no no right now it's you know running on tiktok um all right so if i had to pick something under the radar it would probably be the fact that adam fantilli isn't signed because i know we're focusing more on cutter gautier rightfully so we should be dragging the ducks through the mud and more specifically pat verbeek for how he handles rfas i would not want to go in the season go into the season again with an rfa unsigned and look the the gautier situation is different from mctavish right this is not a player who has skating issues like mctavish who now is falling behind the curve with a new coach coming in who's going to play a much more up-tempo system so he's behind from day one can never really catch up he's also a center that's very important like it just doesn't work right it's different but it's also not because same track record same person but i do feel like in all of this we're not talking enough about adam fantilli and honestly the fact that the blue jackets haven't done enough this summer because the zach warrensky whirlwind took away from what should have been a big off season to build on the momentum of their play down the stretch yes they crashed out at the end but they made real strides to be in that playoff picture and the whole question of would warrensky want to stay i think kind of surrounds the idea of are you going to be better are you going to contend in his prime when he's right now top five defensemen in the world so they needed to kind of level up this summer and make big moves to sell him on it but instead we got swept up in that situation now he's staying but how is this team better oh also the player projected to be your first line center who should be your franchise cornerstone doesn't have a contract yet like that worries me i did uh i did the pdo cast with dimitri folipovich last week and we were talking about like stakes uh for teams heading into the season and i do feel like it's a little under the radar how code red columbus is at this point like the warrensky thing will obviously got a good amount of coverage for like a few days until that was kind of squashed but like marchenko warrensky fantilli like there's just so much volatility involved in that team right now and that does sort of fly under the radar at this point in time so i think that's a good pick dj and i though like we came together this week to talk about how bad the ducks defense is and specifically on the right side and that team i would say i mean we've talked a lot about the the sabers taking a step back this offseason with some of their losses the ducks like they're that might not be tenable on the back end like they might be the new sharks with how bad the right side of their defense is we got caught up so much in the offer sheet to leo carlson and the ongoing cutter go ta situation and even future stuff of like okay well what's seneca gonna cost and meanwhile they've lost three players off of that back end and when you look at it you're like oh man i like the sharks last year comparison pete where like i all right i know what's gonna hold this team back but i don't know what's gonna hold this team back and i don't know what's gonna hold this team back and when i look at them i don't know if they're a shoe-in for the playoffs anymore yeah i'm not sure it's tough because they're in such a soft division and you look at the teams around them like we don't know if the sharks are ready yet the kings the kings are oh my god that blue line under peter laviolette i can't wait to dunk on it um sorry just like a noted hater of his system and phil housley and that just everything um that's going to be something but the ducks defense definitely deserves a lot more attention especially if they can't outscore their problems right if cutter go t is not signed and not there that defense is going to be way more exposed and dostal is not going to be able to handle it because we saw it last year he gets hurt and he's playing really well and the defense was not great but kind of trending up and then he comes back and it's like to a completely different team and i think at times he overplayed situations he made some mistakes and didn't rise above that defensive chaos that he knows and maybe loves and i don't know you know he's had it for so long he's so used to it but like they were terrible the pre-shot movement on some of the goals that he allowed was god awful the misplays around the boards and it's like i understand why they moved down from certain players right getting rid of gutis not signing that truba contract two steps in the right direction but the zellweger situation is such a miss and it's that's the start of all of this like we go back to like okay leo carlson signs the offer sheet oh my god they're screwed they misplayed their hand sooner than that because olin zellweger looked like a prime all offer sheet target because they had to deal with carlson and gautier and they got rid of him they got rid of him they gave mitchikov all of this leverage to get a massive contract that he hasn't earned yet and i think he's someone that has shown he has yeah he's had the chops to be effective but he still struggles in his own zone the coaching did not do enough to manage the chaos last year right they didn't settle things down enough and make adjustments to help them defend tighter and make you know obviously a lot of it relied on internal growth from the young players but now it's just a mess so it's going to be jackson lacombe and a bunch of guys it's definitely worrisome that that blue line and it's even it's going to be even more exposed if the gautier situation isn't handled because if you have someone who can score 40 goals and you can win games six five and it's a team that might be able to do that sure but can you do that across now 84 games i don't know hand up i said they lost three defensemen i forgot about radko gudas they lost four and you could argue how big a loss are some of these players but like truba i agree don't give him that contract big time but that's a big loss and uh carlson was i think a godsend down the stretch for them i think that they would have loved to keep him but it just doesn't seem like that was ever going to happen i look at this roster and again you have to factor in that they're probably gonna have to peel cologne off of it or uh frank vetrano whoever it may be like they're not done cutting they're not done losing players from this roster i i love the ducks and i want them to be a fun team but man they are in a tough spot and it is not done uh how do you feel about having a million teams by the way you're trying to have 34 teams oh hold on before we go there with the ducks too i need to scream from the rooftops when the contract was signed i was like annoyed about it and i thought this is a bad deal and it was the a.j. greer contract he was like i'm not gonna do it i'm not gonna do it i'm not gonna do it i'm not gonna do it it was one that like was it bad enough for a contract grade we were like trying to assess and i'm like i have opinions let's go i feel like this is the one that's gonna burn them down the line and now you look at it like this is why do not give multi-year deals and multi-million do not give the trifecta of term trade clauses and actual cap to bottom six players when you have two true top six players waiting for contracts you settle that after that was like the mistake that started it all so great work pat verbeek we're gonna have four it's got to be two per conference and um earlier this off season you know ultimate off-season project was a mock expansion draft i did with dom and the team is gonna be pretty mid if like one team will be mid coming into this league if we stick with the same expansion rules that we've had and we're gonna be pretty mid if we stick with the same expansion we were still trying to estimate who who would have to waive their no movement clauses and you know we're trying to make bargains to ryan o'reilly in our head to make it make sense that he could come over to get some good players but you literally if you're a new team coming in you're gonna have to have a little bit of vegas in you where you swing some deals and take on bad contracts to get young talent that gets protected and things like that because on the surface one team will be very mid if they come in two it's even worse i mean come on do we expect teams to make the same mistakes they learned i think if you don't make mistakes look at what happened with seattle um yeah don't don't love it but could it be a good business move maybe you know sure i mean i hate that it's already got me looking at contracts and being like oh how does jake wallman's no movement clause fuck them over when it comes time for an expansion draft you know and like every fan of every team is going to start panicking as they look at the rosters for things that may or may not happen but they're gonna like this is going to have like no movement clauses that your team has into the next three four years whatever it may be like that is going to hurt your team now and i hate all the stress that's going to come with it protect matt's at all costs he should be fine you just got to wave a couple uh no movement clothes like the trim frederick contract like that was when i i know we waved um i think we we were like matthias at home see you later we oh i saw that and i fucking hated that i so i read this and i did wrinkle my nose at that i'm like everyone everyone thinks that just because he's gonna be 51 years old matthias at home isn't gonna have it in a couple of years these people don't know he's still fine yeah it's gonna be a problem at some point uh you're doing player tiers now yes all right we are writing them they run maybe next week all right so that after who's to say not me that means that you're looking into players and what they're going to be and all of these things uh we've talked about Michael Misa jokingly for like 12 episodes in a row and it just dawned on me the other day I was like you know what Michael Misa is gonna be a fucking story this year like didn't do much as a rookie I think 21 points in 45 games this is his breakout year and if he does indeed break out and if he is like a really good second line center for the Sharks watch out folks I've already declared I'm getting the Michael Misa hometown remix jersey with the gums and the teeth and all the fixings but what do you think Misa is gonna be this year uh the Leon Drysaddle of the Sharks yes I was just gonna I was just gonna say it okay yeah I think he's gonna start using a stick with like a crazy blade on it he's gonna make he's gonna become like the best passer in the league he's gonna be really German you know he's gonna smoke darts do gummy bear commercials we love that for him I'm so excited can't wait yeah um you yeah I think it's a big year for him because they definitely need a second line center otherwise it's gonna be probably Wemberg again but I think this could go two ways like if he's not ready and they decide he should play on the wing it's not the worst thing in the world sometimes it takes players a little bit longer and when we look at the Sharks defense it's also going to be very bad so that's a lot of pressure for someone to then play down the middle um the other option I think for saving the second line if if we don't want to put all that on Misa's shoulders and maybe we shouldn't is uh splitting up Will Smith and Celebrini a little bit more on the second line more often and seeing if Smith can be the driver of the second line because sometimes you can get away with not having an elite center if you have the winger ready to pop off and I think that could be him I I think he's that great I think you know if he can drive the second line and give them a better one-two punch because Celebrini could play with literally literally no one and make it happen um then I think it'll give them a little bit more balance and Wemberg you know he he doesn't shoot the puck that's the fatal flaw is that he overpasses the puck but I think he has done a better job there he's a good playmaker he's good defensively and I feel like he's that like calming presence on a line that I think you know say Misa plays on the wing there and learns from him and it's Misa playing with Smith and Wemberg it's not the end of the world either but I feel like I'm kind of putting my chips in on a Will Smith breakout and I think I'm kind of cheating because I think we all know it's going to happen but I like the idea of Misa if not but it's one or the other one of them I mean I you trust or you suggest uh Smith could take second line duties and drive play but does Ryan warsowski think that we all have to remember that Ryan warsowski hates Will Smith's guts you see you see what uh mcmadoolin said no to like a Russian outlet they were like no I like I didn't click into it I saw it was a thing and I did not click into it I was like I'm not there they were like are you sad that uh you you aren't on your team anymore and he was like well I am on it this is all translated uh and he's like well I'm on a new team now and things sometimes got frustrating with the coach I'm paraphrasing uh like last year and I was like oh wonderful you will love Mike Babcock no he's fine he's fine everyone said he's fine yeah we'll see yeah yeah we'll see um you you said again that the Sharks defense is going to be bad yes it's going to be that's so much better yeah that's the thing like it's gonna be so well yeah that's the part of it but like look at what they had last year well you know about six seven you know what ring like they're they're gonna be fine yeah like I don't know if they're gonna be fine but they're gonna be relatively fine but I I will miss Darnell nurse gonna have a breakout year by the way is Dimitri Olaf still there yeah yes one more year I was gonna say I will miss Dimitri Orlov for top pairing minutes I will probably still miss that but I'm glad that he's still there what does daily favor King have for their pairings right now they have uh Dickinson Truba get that out of here folks nurse Orlov oh man oh my god and we're not gonna be handling that way too much in that combination uh and then Kesselring on the third pairing uh with Cagnoni yeah it's no it's fine you know a little I think switch switch Cagnoni and and Orlov and I'll take a sigh of relief because I feel like nurse did you take away the con this is the thing we're getting the whole year like this whole summer we've been talking about wow they overspent adding nursing Truba at the same time right it's the combination of contracts if they did not sign Truba I think we'd all look at the nurse acquisition be like that makes perfect sense because it did but now it's redundant now it's overpriced and in two years three years four years gonna be like what were they thinking although maybe expansion can save them I think we tried to get rid of Truba that way for San Jose it's a no trade not a no movement clause but um with nurse he can be serviceable as a four or five or six but like don't let him touch the puck so you can't let him play with Orlov because also we don't need Orlov touching the puck so you need yes I was gonna say that's a bigger concern for you but yeah I'm with you there somebody's watching the Sharks we want to see some sharks okay like that was truly appointment viewing towards the end of last year just for the celebrini of it all and the Dimitri Orlov of it all once or twice a game you'd just be like what the is that guy doing and it was the best yeah yep like why why are you touching the get off the ice why are you out here in this situation then you'd be like well no one else is there okay he has to be there and then you're trying to like rationalize it but it's also like please please stop please stop you're ruining their chances single-handedly I mean oh someone said when you boil it down the problem wasn't him touching the puck it was often him getting rid of the puck and where he was getting rid of it too so maybe the solution is just for him the whole time yeah just hang on to it just go end to end don't let it go you'll be fine someone said there could be a uh dick doctor pairing if he did Dickinson and nurse that's pretty good I like that next time we have Dickinson on be like are you aware of the possibilities because you see the first syllable of your last name opens up all this stuff uh Shayna can you uh catch me up to speed on where in the world the Walter cup is oh my God that entire situation it's like the Mark Walter's making headlines everywhere and you're hearing about the Dodgers and the Lakers I'm just sitting here like put the pwhl like we don't even can we have a schedule can we find out where the cup is this is this is a lot um it felt like we had so much fun momentum and I'm like no no I don't want to go back to this can we can we just pump the brakes I don't know I hope it's okay I have not seen an update did Mark Walter like go on the lamb uh while he's under federal investigation and he's like I'm taking my trophy with me I feel like this could be a 30 for 30 or something I hope so that would be fine they found the cup oh yeah yeah oh yeah I didn't know that Shayna didn't know that oh wait really oh sorry I was distracted by J Walter high pan said Orlov should run from the puck like it's the Boulder in Indiana Jones yes yeah yeah they found the cup uh Merrick was uh big on that Merrick was also big on Zdeno Chara did his last game in trench in Slovakia that I wish I went to that thing because everybody was involved in it and he finished it by taking his skates off leave them on the ice and walking off which if uh you know friend of the show and friend of Shayna Jeff Merrick that's all that guy cares about his wet dream all he wants in life is for someone to retire that way do you remember who he said wanted he said he wanted the Oilers to win the cup and I said I'm with you and he said so Corey Perry can take his skates off and leave them on the ice I said oh boy I am extra with you I would have he probably would have loved it more but I would have been so into that because not only is Leon no longer a bridesmaid Matthew Kachuk but smell Corey Perry's old ass skates loser uh I did see that uh Merrick was at Aaron Ambrose's Walter Cup celebration yesterday and apparently Chad is saying though the Walter Cup was there so Jeff Merrick okay Walter Cup yeah he stole it who knows Caleb brings up uh maybe Merrick knows so much about this because he was in fact the thief real I like this theory I'm all in on this theory I'm all in on this yeah yeah they're good there have been comparisons to the Yarmir Yager situation Nathan Horton famously lost the Stanley Cup did he I didn't know well when he was traveling with it uh it was lost at Logan Airport for a while well yeah I mean that does check out uh baggage claim at Logan Airport yeah catastrophe yeah yeah I had to call Logan Airport to be like hi where do you have the Stanley Cup and they were like uh why who's asking I'm like prove that you have the Stanley Cup because nobody people think that you lost it good times you know beat writer days uh all right so Michael Misa is breaking out Darnell nurse is breaking out I sneaky think Jake Wallman's gonna break out this year uh you think that uh that Adam Fox is going to break out this year Adam Fox doesn't need to break out because he's already really good and I want to call every good season to break out here this is what we're doing everyone's gonna be like they already had a breakout you're gonna keep breaking out so Freddie Anderson is gonna go crazy year go on yeah this is our breakout error that's what we're gonna do um yeah adam fox really good uh i've heard he's bad i've heard he's slow but i can say as someone that does unfortunately consume a lot of the rangers um and wrote about him in the early days of his career too i was primarily focused on them back then uh still really good still has it the problem is uh the play style the play style is always gonna be the knock on his game he's not as electric as a queen hughes or camel car he's not as good as a camel car or a queen hughes but no one is maybe in a year we'll be saying matthew shaffer is but literally no one else is um it's the way that he controls play is so different from the other guys i feel like it gets um underappreciated i think the defensive efforts get underappreciated because the team he's on has been dog this entire time but he you know manages that chaos very well so yeah i think i think we'll be uh talking about him now that there's no international tournament to drag him down and everyone to be upset and have the discourse that way we can uh we can talk about him some more in a positive light but he was our our whipping boy this year for for player tears a lot a lot of punching down on adam fox well i mean i mean you said the international thing like some of it wasn't deserved like there was a real four nations yeah he was exposed but was he he was also dealing with injury stuff over the past couple of years if he's healthy i certainly think that i could see a resurgence there he's definitely not a bad player i think i've had to push back a few times on this show yeah some of the adam fox slander um yeah but yeah that one i i don't know like i think that if people reasonably settle into the way that you put it which like he is not quinn hughes he's not kill makar stop expecting him to be that and he can be the next tier down or a few tiers down i think that's a fair place for him but still a number one defenseman which my thing last year was like i'm not sure if he's a number one defenseman and i will yeah i didn't just i think i texted you when you said that and was like i disagree with this take this is a bad take um because normally i'm like yes that's all it takes by the way is just like any pushback and being like i'm confident that's wrong and i'm like okay probably it's better and then you move on um yeah he's he's very complete a complete number one defenseman but does it in a different way and also the injuries someone in the chat said that if all these players are breaking out they need clearasil that would be an amazing sponsor if we did clearasil breakout player of the game and just had to mention that like twice a week good big time we would knock that out in five seconds or like or pan oxal i'll take that as well pan oxal the good friend of mine what about uh my cellar water oh yeah that's that's like a cleanser yeah that works yeah but enough about my cellar water i don't even a long time to learn that it's called my cellar water okay so it was you should use my cellar water and i'd be like i'll get my own it's gross like yeah um i've been saying it wrong all this time so i just learned thank you oh is that what it's wait maybe i said it wrong no okay i i am this is like my like my fatal flaw i have a very hard time reading words and like having them come out my mouth the right way and i'll think i know how to say it right or like in my head it's said right and then what comes out of my mouth is so wrong that and like idioms and phrases are like the total weak point so i didn't know how it was said and i don't think any of my friends knew how it was said either to correct me like rich is quick on this like if i get it wrong he's jumping in to be like nope nope that's not it whatever it might be yep yeah we just got called middle-aged men in the chat oh my god hate that i mean that's so rude on that i mean anybody anybody can be middle-aged if you think about it yeah yes right right exactly it just depends on when you know uh 80 such a good number for like dolly tim curry all the like i'm sure loved ones and all of us wish that it could be longer dying it's straight up 80 that's good i don't i don't know how to have a take on that that's like that's kind of what i want i mean it depends 80 can look different for anybody but like 80 when you're still i mean for it seemed like crushing it and obviously it's a devastating loss et cetera et cetera we all know that but like 80 is a clean it's clean for sure it's it's very you know when i die i hope that's what someone says that was a clean age today they got out clean she got a clean exit if i die before you you and i don't know why you'd be in charge of this um but my tombstone has to say he got out on a clean and then it's whatever i mean as hockey fans got out on a clean 47 as hockey fans the best that we can hope for is a clean entry and a clean exit it's really all that you can all that you can value just yeah clean clean entries clean is that what you said yeah we're writing your obit right now someone's gonna someone in the chat better save this and just have it ready to like send in he made mistakes but they were all within the system that's right he limited his mistakes to system yeah and it was a tiny bit of work a tiny bit of life shana let me ask you this question what is your favorite hockey highlight of all time like highlight oh my god not necessarily just like your favorite play your favorite moment but isolated what is your favorite highlight of all time oh my god this is so hard my favorite highlight of all time it is a moment it's usa winning gold the women uh last time around because i was so gutted for so long watching marie philippe ruin my life and i love her so dearly and all these three two games and the overtime wins um it had to be that uh we we stayed up late for that for that game it was very fun had a ton of snacks couldn't eat any of them because we were so nervous the entire time and like when they actually won gold that that had to be it but like that's a boy maybe that's a boring pick maybe i should have had something more like cool in my back pocket i don't i'm thinking more like like isolated play like highlight that you would see or like watch on youtube a specific sort of play that is near and dear to your heart as a hockey fan um the red wings avalanche brawl and the clothesline i would watch that all day because like i i love wrestling and that was like the moment for me that it's like yeah listen that's i'm a soap opera girly and those are my nighttime soap operas so i'm like very good at predicting wrestling storylines because i watch general hospital so when it now like infiltrates hockey i love it uh but if i had to think like what's the one i've probably searched the most it's watching that brawl and anytime like i'll read a book that even mentions it it's like a perfect excuse to go watch it all over again sean is nodding his head ferociously during this sean you know about j g hosp general hospital well no i've just always made that point i've always made the point that like wrestling is like is there's no difference to me between wrestling and a soap opera and so when people are like wrestling stupid and i don't have any time for it i'm like it's it's literally made for the sole purpose of entertainment entertainment that's all that's the entire point of it so yes i just that that you saying specifically that it's your nighttime soap operas i'm like that's i've been making that point for years yeah my friends get pissed they're like you're reading the dirt sheets you know it happens and i'm like no listen this has been building to this and like uh rich is someone that the entire time he's like i think he might be hurt like i'm watching wrestling and my shoulders getting like shaken like he's hurt he's hurt and i'm like stop stop they wouldn't show it because it's just like work on a soap opera when you die if if you're not dead and like seen as a spirit you're coming back you're coming back to life so it's the same thing pete do you have a like a oh yeah there's one for sure that comes to the front of my mind it's steve eiserman's goal against the blues in double overtime 1996. it is just i think that is like the most condensed perfect highlight in hockey because it's the most consequential player on the blues opening up the door to that perfect highlight in hockey because it's the most consequential player on the blues opening up the door to that perfect highlight in hockey because it's the most consequential player on the blues opening up the door to that play wayne gretzky play wayne gretzky play wayne gretzky blues legend turning the puck over in the blues legend turning the puck over in the blues legend turning the puck over in the neutral zone neutral zone neutral zone it's the most consequential player on the it's the most consequential player on the it's the most consequential player on the red wings steve eiserman releasing red wings steve eiserman releasing red wings steve eiserman releasing just like the most picture-perfect goal just like the most picture-perfect goal just like the most picture-perfect goal you've ever seen top corner it's the you've ever seen top corner it's the you've ever seen top corner it's the moment double overtime it's game seven moment double overtime it's game seven it's a playoff clincher and then like it's a playoff clincher and then like it's a playoff clincher and then like the cherry on top for that the cherry on top for that the cherry on top for that is uh there's a behind the net is uh there's a behind the net is uh there's a behind the net camera angle that shows eiserman camera angle that shows eiserman camera angle that shows eiserman absolutely unleashing absolutely unleashing absolutely unleashing a dot to the top corner and the puck a dot to the top corner and the puck a dot to the top corner and the puck is just coming straight at the camera is just coming straight at the camera is just coming straight at the camera it's the most beautiful hockey shot i it's the most beautiful hockey shot i it's the most beautiful hockey shot i think like in the world so that is like think like in the world so that is like think like in the world so that is like my ultimate ultimate hockey highlight my ultimate ultimate hockey highlight my ultimate ultimate hockey highlight yeah i mean my first thought and like yeah i mean my first thought and like yeah i mean my first thought and like recency bias recency bias recency bias was was was game four game four game four 2025 2025 2025 jake wallman go ahead goal the jake wallman go ahead goal the jake wallman go ahead goal the just give it to me baby give it to me come all the way back and i'm like no it's it can't be that but it actually can be and then i think about chara uh the pirouette against the uh the panthers i think it just need i guess for mine it just has to be a an absurd visual that like how it's it's an nhl game it's a stanley cup final game in 2025 how does a guy how is a guy able to just go like this for 13 seconds in the year 2024 like in particular if you were saying this is like 1990 yes exactly that it's like yeah now and it's against the no one gives us any shit florida panthers the biggest wise ass in the league has all the room in the world to just go like this and then fucking blast a go-ahead goal with six minutes left that shit rules uh paul korea the paul korea moment oh yeah the mogged by nathan mckinnon later on yeah nathan mckinnon did a cooler version of it later where nathan mckinnon dove and then scored an empty net goal the other one for me would have been rick nash's goal against the i think the coyotes where he just completely destroyed that entire team and one of the coolest goals i've ever seen yeah but then like you say that and you're americans so but you're like how could it not be like sydney crosby's golden goal or how could it not be like for me i could just say give me any play in which leon dry sidle theoretically could have said that's what i thought bitch under his breath after he did whatever he did every every from the angle from the very sharp angle you need it every yeah yeah like right any goal from the uh goal line any time i forget was it uh who did he do it it was against somebody on the panthers um and why can't i think of the panthers best defenseman forsling uh yeah it was against gustav forsling i think where he just kind of like did like a out of my way loser uh while he was getting his stick held kind of thing any sort of thing where a player shows i am insert player's name that's my favorite fucking highlight oh see i mean can you think of what one of my favorite highlights of yours is going to be overtime conor mckinnon like david against jack eichel yeah just walking oh yeah neutral zone oh yeah that shit was i'm literally watching it right now it was so fucking it's i have it's a great pick when you when you asked that question pete three instantly entered my mind it was that one it was brian campbell's hit on rj on burger and um uh oh now i'm blanking on the third one oh oh the the the senators sabers bench clearing brawl i'll never forget the smirk on ray emory's face when he skated towards knowing full well he was about to kick that guy's ass and he did it and then the bench is clear it was like or not the benches but it was a full online brawl uh fucking lindy ruff trying to jump the benches to yell at the start at the sense coach like that was that was the moment i fell in love with hockey and specifically the ray emory smirk r.i.p that man quinn byfield's got a couple one of which was allowed yeah i mean like now we're just talking about like cool goals yeah then we can be talking about like trevor zieger's behind the net setting up the michigan pass like that's a cool moment like i need like something that like meant something to you so it's got to be so it's got to be a long time ago a million years ago not necessarily but like i think that when people think of their all-time favorite highlights that like either got them into the sport or like help develop their love for the sport it typically happens a while ago yeah i mean martin brodor scoring on himself in that same series against the ducks was pretty sick because i felt like i was pulling so hard for the ducks and i thought they had no fucking chance against the devils which ultimately they lost to them but martin brodor scoring on himself like shit like that where you're like i i need any i'll fucking take anything i can get even if it's ridiculous those kind of things stand out to me there is one from this past year that like i watched probably 25 times after it happened and i was just like hockey's so fucking cool man and it was cole cough field scoring his 50th at the bell center because the it was a sick goal the crowd pop was insane the atmosphere was crazy cole cough field just celebrated like an absolute madman had the biggest smile across his face i think his dad was in uh attendance and just like looked so happy and it was just like all of that is just what makes hockey so fucking cool and romantic and sports as a whole i watched that highlight so many times just like with a huge smile on my face that's the good shit honestly my favorite moment of last year might have just been fucking vasilevsky and swayman fighting i think one of my favorite moments last year was vasilevsky uh like almost crying when he was fake arrested made him think that he had a bomb in his car because they thought that was a cool way to present the bezina we're like a minute and a half away from us talking about funny parts and tv shows like that's fine that's fine no i like i like the call field pull though and i want to go a year back demidoff his debut oh yeah because if i remember right there was a play on i think he got his first point it was before he got his first goal where it's like lane hudson behind the net with the puck and that they flash to the crowd it's going nuts and then they pass it up and he does something sick and i was just like oh my god this is so cool and as someone who like generally doesn't put sound on their highlights because listen that's too much work i don't i don't care um if it's a big moment i will i was like i need sound on this one and i'm like checking it to make sense because it was such a sick moment like you get chills from that and it's a regular season game and you don't give a shit it's just sick like twice a year i'll hand pick something to like send to my wife and be like hockey's pretty cool you should check it out because she does not give a shit about hockey i sent her uh the cole caulfield goal didn't take she was just like i don't give a fuck about any of this so i tried but uh that was that was one of the bullets that i used last year to try to to try to convince her that hockey's cool i mean i send you and sean the jake wallman goal like once a week you don't have to sell us we're there just be like hey just a reminder on this one and sean will be like yep all good and then i'll send the sean what do you like better the game four slap like one timer or the overtime winner against ottawa with this uh i mean the slap shot is way funnier like just the the vision the the visual because like wallman doing goofy shit after the fact is wallman as this that's what i expect from wallman but the fucking to the sky for an hour and a half was the coolest thing i've ever seen yeah that's my favorite that's like literally a dream right like you think about having your moment that's it i that is what we all like we're all playing you're like i want to be able to do that i want to rip a slap shot like that like that's your dream oh yeah and famously we uh asked um rasmus doline we're like it probably sounds like a stupid question but like how fucking good does it feel to take a slap shot and he was like boys you have no i like i've been waiting my whole life for someone to ask that question and it's like i could never take a slap shot my wrist shot was horrible decent snapshot but like it looks like the best fucking feeling in the world so in the fucking stanley cup final to do that without someone's face running into your stick and you getting a penalty or anything like that yeah i get a lot call a recency bias that's my favorite hockey player ever put it in the hall of fame not bad okay well that i mean that one is like a whole other like uh if i just start thinking of like funny hockey moments that's like a whole other avenue of plays that pop like like akira schmidt playing the puck past the red line in columbus is like one of my favorite in-person hockey moments of all time that's oh yeah that's that that's an all-timer how about frank for toronto scoring an all-time throwing the fucking stick very violently so good at the children i mean well that just happened in uh in in philly yeah this in these playoffs yeah cam york yeah i mean yeah that's it philly just had a different type of energy though they were throwing sticks they were partying in the box everybody was everybody was the celebration was it's eager celebrating with the box after he scored like that was like unreal like the the scumbag energy off the charts i loved everything about it i love that they owned it yeah big time hockey's so back it's crazy i i am i am very ready all right shana uh thank you so much for coming on with us you uh you rock we appreciate it of course happy to do it and also one thing before i go i feel like pete i feel like you need like a what chaos book club yeah i feel like this should be a thing yeah i mean the reason that i've avoided the whole book club thing is because i don't like adding pressure to like my reading or like deadlines or whatever or even having to talk about what i'm reading but i do find myself getting very excited to talk about what i'm reading and i do know that we are currently reading the same book uh yes yesteryear which i'm i'm in on that because ann hathaway has attached herself to that project has acquired the uh the rights to uh the movie and how how far are you in i'm in on that because i'm in on that i'm like a quarter in i had to wait like three months on hold for this book so i was the second i finally got the rental i'm like i'm in let's go oh you do rental like that's that's a cool move well my kindle books are all library rentals i go one physical one kindle book at a time usually okay gotcha um what are your thoughts i uh i'm i'm just fascinated to see like what all the hype is about sometimes i i dip into those like i did dungeon crawler carl because everybody kept talking about it and recommending it i'm reading that now everybody's talking about yesteryear so i i'm dipping in yesteryear has a fascinating start i don't know where the fuck it's going i know very little about this book as a as a whole but i'm into it yep i agree i have been literally just going like what's popular and reading it because i've just been like cooking through books this summer so i like i picked like the wedding people i had no idea what it was about so like you're reading in chapter one i'm like what am i reading but like i kind of like the surprise of it so i was the same as you and you like the basic like one line summary uh very good at unpeeling the layers to make her look unlikable to start that i'm like i'm interested in that alone like where it's going because when it started i'm like wait what year does this take place in until they start explaining like the influencer aspect of it it's like ah now it clicks the influencer uh start to that and kind of how it dissects the influencer brain and also the consumption of influencers i was like all right this is fucking awesome the tone of this book to start is hilarious so that's what really got me now there's some weird shit going on that i am trying to catch up on i don't know what the fuck is happening but there's time so there's time i feel i'm rereading random pages a little bit more than i usually would to be like wait what just happened here now that we're like sent back but yeah i think they did a great job because if you make jokes about like the influencer stuff like the camera eats first or your quick jokes here or there but it's like it's work it's a lot of work and that that is a whole career of it that's a lot so i just want to clarify you do a kindle book and a physical book and these are different books that you're doing at the same time and i i know i i know yes that people do they'll have like an audio book going and they'll have a whatever a physical book or something like that or they'll do them in tandem you you'll read or you'll consume two books at once yes um i had a little do you guys remember like with your game boy there was that light you could turn on and you could turn it on and you could turn it on and you could turn it on and you could like plug in and it would give you light so you could like play game boy but so i had one for physical books and it just kept dying so i prefer like when i'm in bed to read my kindle so i don't have to have a nightlight on uh i have rich and i have very different hours so i try even though he doesn't notice i try uh so that kind of started it and then like one book will be more often by the pool with me but now it's also like if it's super hot i was like dipping my books in the pool so i'm like maybe the kindle's better for certain things um i thought you were dipping your book in the pool because your book was hot and you were trying to cool it off no i don't think that either way what the hell first time you haven't sounded smart on our show this reminds me of the conversation of when i brought my physical book into the sauna and you guys are like what the fuck no no no are you stupid yes i was reading dune because i i won't see it till i read it so rich bought me the whole set because he's like i just want to see this movie and the book the bottom of it kept talking about a book that needs water i was like maybe i like to rotate and also i've been giving him mine he he reads now so sometimes i'm trying to figure out what he likes better paper or kindle so we were like swapping back and forth and so he had the same book both options so whatever he's using i'll use the opposite before i decide whether or not to get him one i uh i'm i've about like a month ago i couldn't comprehend the idea of of reading two books at once i have graduated personal growth i now read one non-fiction and one fiction book at the same time see that's a good balance that's a good balance yeah yeah because i i i found that if i'm doing non-fiction i can get very bored with like the lack of i guess like linear story and i just like am in the mood for a fiction book or a non-fiction book and to have one of each available to me is always gonna scratch some sort of itch it's so i have the exact opposite thing of like if i tried to do a non-fiction and a fiction at the time at the same time i would just read the non-fiction one and then be like yeah but fucking shout out cersei shout out madeline miller got me at least into the fiction life i'm still i did you finish kitchen confidential uh no i'm halfway through that that's my current non-fiction book oh right okay um i was supposed to start um uh song of achilles with two other people they've both started it and i haven't started it i'm just gonna let them do it okay then i'll do it later because i don't think i can do the reading like with somebody thing yeah that's i mean like i have like a i have a group chat uh like a dungeon crawler group chat or like slash like a people that i don't read is that wait is dungeon what's the book that uh scott was reading that or that you were reading that everyone was telling you to read that has like a weird cover yeah it's dungeon crawler dungeon crawler did you finish that there's eight of them i am currently yeah i've read the first two and i have the third i'm i'm halfway through the first one okay i just like i can't do eight books from cut from the same cloth all in a row it's just like i needed to take a break i'll revisit it at some point that's part of why i read two books because like the heated rivalry books came out and i was like i'm gonna read them all at once and i'm like this like i'm not i'm not like a romance reader i never read romance before and i was like this is a lot i need to take a breather and move on to something else and then i was reading the off-campus books before they came out and like i didn't i didn't love the books i like the show better um but i needed spacers in between them like i read two then i swapped to something else they're quick reads at least but sometimes you just need to like separate it and then jump into something else because then you'll miss it like the dungeon crawler ones i think it'll be like a every other book kind of thing oh speaking of um i on this show and in other places have expressed um aggravation with how much off-campus is doing stuff like the thing with the nhl players the uh where they're doing like an nhl player sits down with an actor and it's from off-campus and i'm like this is disappointing that it's all off-campus stuff that's doing this uh little birdie in the entertainment industry told me like hey you know what there's a very good chance they're doing shit with the off-campus people because they can't get the heated rivalry people and i was like that's a fair thing that i didn't consider well also it's possible that like that uh like connor story and hudson williams are like a we're shooting our show right now and b we don't need this shit because we're bigger than all you fuckers and off-campus has a director who's like i don't need this shit because we're bigger than all you fuckers and like the kid is is a boston bruins prospect yeah also amazon doing more nhl stuff and it's an amazon show oh true could be a thing true yeah so i don't know i uh if if i incorrectly accused any stuff then i apologize it'll be the first time i think you're fair i think you're very fair on what you said okay i appreciate that all right uh keep reading shana keep the a keep those keep those books out of the pool it's weird and you're not supposed to do it you don't know what like you're just reading and you're trying to like have it in your lap and then you're like shit i'm sitting on a tube this doesn't work like then you're hanging out is working on becoming the world's first underwater reader back when i refused to read fiction my excuse was something stupid like because i'm a man or whatever uh now i'm gonna be like i can't do it i am such a klutz i'm gonna be like i can't do it i'm such a klutz i'm such a klutz i'm such a klutz i would they i would drop them all every time i try to listen it's not comfortable leaning over the ledge the whole time of the pool like i don't like it i don't like doing that and that's what i feel like i'm doing every day but it's fine it's fine like these are small issues okay well it had been too long uh crazy that we hadn't had a shana summer ep uh this has been wonderful appreciate you pal congratulations again thank you thanks for having me that is the great shana goldman people say i used to read in the shower i mean that's crazy i will do audiobooks in the shower people somebody called me crazy for doing the hybrid audiobook physical book thing and no i do that i don't care if you want so i'll read in one way i'll read and then like if i am either doing chores or i'm driving i'll pick up on the audiobook where i left off and then i'll just like vice versa go back and forth i don't think that's crazy at all i think that's i do think that's crazy i would i would i would i think it would fuck with me so heavily like changing the format in which i am consuming a story like that like having it go from being a visual experience to being an auditory experience i don't think it's like a that doesn't make you a bad person or anything but i just don't think it's something i would be able to do it could it's never like it's never fully visual for me like when i read auditory in my own head well i suppose that's That's, yeah, that's fair. Yeah, it's not like you're watching. a movie but like uh yeah i don't know maybe it wouldn't the only time i've ever done an audiobook in my entire life was when i had to read uh tom sawyer when i was entering a summer reading entering high school and i was having a real hard time with the reading the broken english that this that tom sawyer was written in so i read the audio i listened to the audiobook while i read it i did it as like a uh kind of companion i read along what i'll say too is that like a few times the audiobook experience has greatly enhanced my reading my physical reading uh experience one example being daisy jones and the six like it allowed me to assign voices to each character because i had heard them uh and then uh the doing the anthony bourdain confidential right now is awesome because he narrates the audiobook so that when i read the the book i like hear it in his voice so that part's pretty cool so i'm going slower with that though because the i love the annotations in the like updated version of kitchen confidential so i know that if i listen to it i'm not getting those little uh newer things that he throws in there but also i can just go back later yeah i haven't been doing as much uh audio with that but i'll tell you what i have been doing prize picks that's right it's a scorching sports summer and you can make all your picks on prize picks women's basketball and baseball are heating up and every football pre-season game kicks off this month on prize picks and with big tennis slams and major golf tournaments on the horizon there's no better place for all your summer sports than prize picks america's number one sports pick app uh jaron durant's hot in the streets right now sean you're happy about that right game winning uh dinger i mean the marlins i will you know um you're never gonna run i'd never never against team you know well and i'm never gonna i'm never gonna root for against team no well and i'm never gonna i'm never gonna i'm never gonna root for the uh the captain of my the uh the captain of my the uh the captain of my ship to sink the ship like he's on the ship to sink the ship like he's on the ship to sink the ship like he's on the team so i want him to i want him to like team so i want him to i want him to like team so i want him to i want him to like it would be foolish of me to root it would be foolish of me to root it would be foolish of me to root against him against him against him the captain is whoever's at play yep the captain is whoever's at play yep the captain is whoever's at play yep the captain is whoever's at play in any the captain is whoever's at play in any the captain is whoever's at play in any given circumstances like what i'm saying saying is I'm not going to root for someone to fail just because like if it's going to come at my own expense which it was you're saying to strip the sea from Jaron Duran yes yes I think he would have some posts about you for saying that that's true he might get your ass online dude I was so close to buying that Joker t-shirt but I just I just not enough people would understand that I was wearing it ironically and I can't yeah myself I still support it I still support it I think it's not his oh man but that and that's valuable too because you wear that shirt and somebody's like yo sick shirt and they're they're saying it like get on ironically you know that you don't want that person in your life exactly but yeah man I would much rather Jaron Duran like and also as a Jaron Duran hater the reason that I'm at my lowest point with Jaron Duran right now is because he's tanked his stock and he's untradeable I need Jaron Duran and this season hot few dingers in the playoffs knock out the Yankees in the wild card trade his ass in the offseason everybody wins you well regardless of your sport you can make picks on women's basketball football even baseball and prize picks makes it super easy all you need to do is pick more or get one hundred fifty dollars instantly in lineups if you win your first five dollar lineup prize picks America's number one sports app we are America's number one movie podcast and I don't know what to do first on the patreon episode subscribe to the patreon uh we where we do more pop culture stuff we were uh talking films and it turns out Pete had one big blind spot and Sean straight up hadn't seen the dinosaur movie what's more embarrassing that Sean hadn't seen the dinosaur movie one's been out so dinosaur movie is a movie starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor uh that oh fuck I didn't say on the patreon you know what I was calling that movie for a while after I saw it what uh uh honey I dinosaur the town okay it's got some honey I shrunk the kids vibes except it's uh there's dinosaurs everywhere yeah instead of the kids are small it's dinosaurs are here I'm I'm I'm ready to make another declaration on this podcast I'm kind of fucking obsessed with this movie yeah that's like my favorite movie now yeah that that's got some like cold pursuit for me where I'm like look it's ridiculous but uh be quiet my movie's on yeah I mean it is I was certainly not going to say it's my favorite movie because I think the movie that I've seen twice in theaters since seeing that dinosaur movie has been Tony and that might be my favorite movie Tony's a fucking incredible movie and I will see that one hundred times before I die unless I die like tomorrow in which case r.i.p. me uh dinosaur movie is just platinum brunch stamp brunch movie and I mean juries out on Anne Hathaway's performance in the odyssey Anne Hathaway kills it was so much better in this movie than she was and they're like whether you liked her in the odyssey or not whether you thought she did much in the odyssey or not whether you think the scene where she's yelling at Tom Holland is good acting that's a we we all have our opinions on whatever she there was this is what I'm fucking talking about this is why Anne Hathaway rules and like and in the odyssey nobody truly had a bad performance in this movie there is a truly bad performance and it is uh the person acting it's the person acting opposite of Anne Hathaway Ewan McGregor stunk in this movie it was so bad and distracting but that's part of the charm and uh Starbuck looked terrible so yeah Starbuck was bad in this movie I I went to get pictures of Starbuck for the uh the Patreon episode and I was just laughing out loud at how bad he looks in still pictures like so bad in still pictures so bad in the movie the CGI is unfathomable when they absolutely hit a 6,000 foot home run with every dinosaur and then they fail to do a dog justice in this movie it's very funny I love that yeah that the dinosaurs look way more realistic than the dog someone in the chat said that they just watched uh Nirvana the band the show the movie everybody if you haven't yet it is so adorable and Matt Johnson is the fucking greatest but uh Sean saw a dinosaur movie finally yes you saw it review please yeah I mean uh that that shit rocked it was it did its job like I I I thoroughly enjoy that movie like way more than I enjoy uh like I mean, like, Toy Story 4 is my least favorite movie of all time, I think. I mean, you hate that movie, so. Yeah, Avatar, like, the Avatar, like, the Avatar sequels, the second Avatar in particular, like, movies that are supposed to be, well, yeah, but I guess that's my, like, movies that even, I even liked it more, like, enjoyed the experience more than I enjoyed the experience of a movie like Eddington, where, like, a movie sets itself up to be something, and so now I'm judging it against what I think it's setting itself up to be and, like, the message it's trying to send. This is a movie that is just, like, hey, man, what if we got, what if we got teleported to the prehistoric times and we lived with dinosaurs? What would that be like? Like, that's all it did. It did exactly, the thing I always say with, like, the Mario movie, it was Mario characters doing Mario shit. This is, this movie falls into that. It asked the question, and it answered it. Exactly. Like I said, I texted you guys last night, it's a role player, and it did its role. It came in, stopped somebody, like, stopped their star guard, it just, it did what it was supposed to do. I think instead of a role player, I would call this movie a UFO. I would call this movie a utility man or a utility person. Yeah, it's Brock Holt. It's a Brock Holt of movies. It can literally be anything you want. It is the Las Vegas of movies where it's, like, you can go and you can fucking go to the strip clubs. You can see some crazy shit. You can have fine dining. You can gamble. Like, it can literally be anything that you want because I've talked to so many people about this movie. Everybody has loved it for different reasons. But it is a thrilling action. It's a great family movie. It's a comedy. It's a, it's an art piece, although some of the art choices are very, very confusing. It's a sex movie. Yeah, I was going to say, can I say, score one, this might be controversial, but I am. I'm on record as not being a sex and movies guy this I felt was score one for my team I think the movie thought that it was being crazy and ridiculous and everything yeah if there are dinosaurs there they would be having sex but there's a scene in this movie where dinosaurs are having sex and it's supposed to be this is fuck oh and the the dialogue the only thing that is like actually bad about this movie is the dialogue and there is a horrible like brutally corny line and moment where you're like okay is this movie actually bad that's the only part of the movie that you're like yeah this movie's stupid and sucks but maybe some people liked it that's I refuse to I refuse to I refuse to acknowledge any part of this movie as being bad yeah like it was exactly what it was supposed to be the fact that like I mean the dialogue around the dinosaur is fucking was was lame I will agree with you on that but the whole movie was but but at the end of the day they made a fucking dinosaur movie in which the dinosaur is fucked also like that is crazy it sounds like we're making this movie up and that it doesn't exist and we're just improvising and being like what'd you think of the dinosaur movie well I thought the sex scene was a little gratuitous but real movie I don't think you mentioned the actual title of the movie at any point during this conversation by the way yeah it's called uh honey i shrunk honey i dinosaur the town yeah honey i dinosaur the town that's right oh now with time travel shout out matt johnson my my blind spot was uh tropic thunder uh I disclosed that in the patreon episode this week to varying degrees of shock which I I understand I finally watched tropic thunder last night turns out everybody was right about that shit that movie's hilarious and hilarious for a million different reasons but I think my favorite part of that movie was truly maria menounos maria menounos mocking uh ben stiller for his performance in simple jack was my favorite part of that movie followed closely by the young child stabbing ben stiller in the back as uh as he runs across a burning bridge like just an unbelievable that is the like best climax to a film maybe ever with the fucking tivo and he's just just like the first time I remember where I was when I saw that for the first time I was in my friend mike's basement and that is I will always laugh so hard at that because it's so shocking but it also makes so much fucking sense the kid doesn't like him nobody there likes him that movie man oh boy that's the stuff somebody in the chat said uh alternative title to end of oak street end of poke street I like that a lot yeah since they introduced sex scenes yep yep I have there there was that I I had more thoughts on that movie that we don't we don't necessarily have to have right now but I don't know if it's a show well I don't want to know on uh on end of oak street but I'm sorry I said the name I don't know if I gave it away uh well I don't know if we want to do any spoilers but I'm guessing there was a point the on the patreon you made a big point about a point you wanted to spoil for me was it the point that I texted you about after the fact yeah wait the part where no no no no the point that I wanted to spoil was the dinosaurs having sex like that is an elevator pitch movie or elevator pitch to see this movie because I'm like it just illustrates how ridiculous it all is like the dinosaurs have sex I just the big thing for me was that it like it ends on like one of the biggest like like if you watch rick and morty for example like the the a massive like moral dilemma that is not addressed at all uh and it's like a central part to kind of like the way the story of rick and morty develops and it's like a massive moral dilemma that the characters struggle with like I don't know are like are we doing spoilers I would say no at this point but I will be interested to continue this conversation on the patreon like I think that's where we can bring it because I would say no have yet to talk to any I've talked to so many people about this movie have yet to talk about the ending and the moral implications of what happens yeah I'm I'm very interested in having that conversation okay okay yeah so I don't want to put that out there but yeah it's a it's a I highly recommend anybody that hasn't seen it go see it it's there is a point in the movie that I will not spoil that is the hardest I have laughed in a movie theater in a very long time honestly since I saw avatar 2 and similar to avatar 2 I think what made it so funny is that I was like the only person in the theater wait Sean what that moment was it the part at which I texted you about it I would think so yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah it's the funniest thing I've ever seen in the movie in my entire life like need that shit yeah so go watch that movie please I uh I also think that on this week's upcoming patreon we may be discussing coyote versus acme Sean and I have plans and designs on seeing that this weekend I am so excited for that movie oh yeah yeah who's who I I forget who is the uh actor oh it's will forte yeah yeah okay uh so that's dinosaur chat and that's tropic thunder chat shout out jay baruchel I've uh been filling in so I I think I've seen like not every movie but most of the movies that have come out since like 2013 that's when I like really got into always seeing movies and there's a lot of movies there's a few I mean there's just like some from each year that you're like oh wait how did I never see that so I'm trying to fill in some of those last night I watched Steve Jobs do you ever see that is that the Ashton Kutcher one no that is the Michael Fassbender yeah I've seen both of them oh uh I didn't care about that shit at all and I was I really I was very excited to see that because I keep seeing the scene with Jobs and Wozniak where he's like doing the right thing shout out Apple too uh didn't care about that movie I was just like okay so like really bad dad yeah that was my big takeaway from that movie is like okay got it we got some dinosaurs or something um yeah I mean I don't have many Jobs thoughts I I don't think I'll be watching the uh Ashton Kutcher one I remember that one being more ridiculous so at least it was like they had fun with it okay maybe I will watch that one filling in some blanks over here okay uh PLL play off begin next week Sean no this weekend this yeah yeah yeah sorry uh on Saturday ESPN plus uh yeah but the quarters quarters those quarters finals yes uh I've been told yeah little birdie told me that uh this is a good weekend to tap in because these teams like a lot of the matchups here these teams legitimately dislike each each other so oh yeah well that's where I'm tuning in because I need some hate with my sports shout out Denver outlaws I don't like you follow the law asshole I believe Denver than defending uh PLL champions um so they're about to be defending uh quarterfinals losers at the hands of my California Redwoods I don't really give a shit about what's going on in the west all I care about is Joey Spallina and my Maryland Whipsnakes versus the the Boston Cannons we're about to go on a fucking uh the Cinderella run worst to worst in the playoffs to the to championship I'll tell you what I haven't had a uh a big sports weekend in a long time been since hockey ended because I haven't fully tapped into baseball I am planning my Saturday around sports and it's week zero for college football I plan to be on the couch all day for that shit but I am absolutely going to check out PLL as well so welcome back sports ESPN Premier League is back as well yes I did watch uh our our beloved Erling Holland he of new buzz cut fame yep uh he had a bad game over the weekend but a thrilling win for Man City my Chelsea Blues had a good good start to their season it was the EFL was going or like just English football in general was going kind of fucking crazy over the weekend I if you were into the World Cup I was watching US Open yesterday Carlos Alcaraz and Serena Williams playing doubles together was sick as fuck uh they lost though and now Serena and Venus are playing uh women's doubles together so that's gonna be sick um it's uh also it looks like live golf fucking dead fuck those guys yeah um they fired basically everybody sorry for the people that lost your jobs but that's what you get for uh uh associating with the Saudis this is uh pretty good time for sports uh did you see the unveiled uh new format for the PGA Championship no oh baby you are going to see the new format for the PGA Championship no oh baby you are going to be so in on that it is they've kind of restructured the PGA Championship to include match play and so it's going to be like 1v1 and to basically win the PGA Championship you have to go undefeated through like four four weekend events at different courses going up against one other person so like match play is back new courses uh introduced very very in on the like the one format of golf. Like I feel like that's what golf has been missing where instead of just doing golfers versus the course every weekend you have to have like rivalries and 1v1s going up against each other so i'm very excited about that hell yeah great time for sports great time for sports interaction let me uh pull up do i have my sports interaction read it might be no i got it uh right here uh sports interaction the president's trophy i would have said all that maybe except the oilers i oh no no no see like oilers are a team that heavily stands out to me as like yeah they'll win the fucking president's trophy i don't know about that derogatory a lot of hope no no no like very derogatory i i mean it can only be so derogatory because you're saying that you expect them to win the most games in the league more or less um which that would surprise me a little bit that's the other one i read the top one two three four uh sorry one two three four five six seven eight nine nine teams nine nine julianne moore voice but i did not say the montreal canadians and i understand that they're in a tough division but canadians might be a team i'd throw into that mix i don't know i would not i mean i agree someone not winning the fuck yeah yeah and they don't care about it yeah i uh they're a lebron team i don't know i could see i could see the abs doing it again i could see carolina doing it but carolina's got some mileage on them and they've been they've been busy this summer so maybe they don't want to win the president's trophy i don't know at the end of the day they're going to win the president's trophy who gives a fuck yeah so wait hurricanes i would say in the mix panthers i would rule out avalanche in the mix oilers in the mix lightning rule out uh knights rule out first year head coach wild in the mix stars in the mix capitals no canadians the capitals are above the canadians uh yes what is happening there when you were talking when you're talking to shane earlier about the things everyone like once a month just to say something to me and then he says no then he says sorry sean which yeah mike you know that we know i love mike i love mike we know that that you you are you are uh pushing that button emma says kids how do i figure out my baseball or lacrosse team i love a terrible team aka browns and sharks i would say just focus mostly on the browns don't get another team just i would say i would say the exact opposite of the exact opposite entertainment and you want a bad she's saying she wants a bad team oh yeah like browns have given you enough for a lifetime but the the browns aren't bad the browns are bad in a way that you can't even find any enjoyment in like uh that's fair if they because I'm like, yeah, I'm in on whatever the fuck that's going to be, but they're just putting Deshaun Watson out there just because they promised him all this money and they did not. They don't want him to sit on the bench. That's fucking embarrassing. The Browns are bad and problematic and that's a bad place to be. Yeah, it's not. If you want like, I don't even know who would be bad and fun in baseball. Honestly. Did you see that Michael Penix was named the Falcons starting quarterback? Dude, no. And somebody, I forget if this is a quote or like someone said like to a tongue of Iloa made it impossible for the team to name him starting quarterback. So someone posted Michael Penix winning the starting quarterback job and it was Mario Party bumper balls and it was like as soon as the game started, Luigi doesn't move and the other three people just roll off. That is specifically very up our alley. Hell yeah. Jerscrisi says Odyssey note. I wanted to say the last two weeks. Highly recommend watching epic the musical on YouTube. It's more God's involvement than Nolan's film but it's excellent in the song slap God's plan. Lady Julep says I just saw the Odyssey last weekend. Please use the get these beggars out of here button as much as possible as it's my number one part of the film. I do believe I added that somewhere. Let's see. Replace it. Somebody get these beggars out of here. Yeah. Olive super chats. Olive twice. Matt friend or foe says genuine question. Why are folks against an NHL expansion in my mind more teams equal more fun. What are the downsides? I think the big thing is that it waters it all down and it makes it harder to keep track of like quite frankly 32 plus our other interests be it reading watching movies or other sports leagues such as the increasingly interesting PWHL. There's only so much bandwidth we can all have. That's my answer. Yeah. I mean, I think that the the simplest through explanation or reason is that we don't want the teams to be watered down where like if you get fewer teams you have better players throughout a team's lineup. I've said from the beginning that I don't care about that. I'm kind of with Matt. I'm just excited to get I'm excited to get new logos and jerseys really. That's the thing at the front of my mind. Yeah, but then you got you got more teams that you don't care about and that means more games that you don't care about and it just kind of waters down the product, but it's not it's not like the replacing the things that I do care about. So if I didn't care about it to begin with then it's just more that I am not paying attention to Anna Reeves, right says Kings getting ready to learn harmonica and join the class. Absolutely friend. J. Walter high pants says seeing the Odyssey for my birthday on Friday. I'm very late. I know just make sure they serve chicken fingers there or something because if it's your birthday, you need birthday dinner. Why are you super chatting us when we don't even know if you're having your birthday dinner yet? I mean could be seeing the Odyssey and then going to birthday dinner dinner in a show or doing it at the same time called a dinner event a I don't know. What was that that the wording on that the was it the Dixie Stampede dinner attraction. The Dixie Stampede was a dinner attraction. It's now Dolly Parton Stampede. So RIP it's old name, but not necessarily Emma Haven says I am out on the Browns till they play another quarterback. That seems fair. Literally any other quarterback all of once again with the olive super chat. It would seem that all of his trying to fourth times the charm all of says I have finally figured out how to send a super chat popping in as the PS5 surgery girl. Yes. Okay. So all of came and said should I get a PS? I'm having surgery. I'm going to be bedridden for a little bit. Should I get a PS5 to play NHL and like learn more about hockey and I was like, well, duh, I can't I can't fully recommend thinking that much money just for the NHL franchise, but it is a fun way to kill time. She went ahead and did it and is having a good time. So amazing. Well, soon happy that you're enjoying your time with your PS5. That's so cool. Get well soon. Appreciate you and appreciate everybody.
