Elliot Rodger was born on July 24th, 1991 in London to his parents Lee Chin and Peter Rodger. Elliot's father was a director in London. His mother was born in Malaysia before moving to London. She was a nurse on film sets and this is how Elliot's mother and Elliot's father met. Those early years in Elliot's life living in London were very, very happy years. At five years old, Elliot was born in London. At six years old, his younger sister Georgia was born and then the entire family moved to the United States to LA. And this was for his father's filmmaking career. His father was extremely successful. Honestly, both of his parents were very successful and very well connected in Hollywood. His mother was close friends with and previously dated George Lucas, the creator and director of Star Wars. So Elliot had the privilege of attending the Hollywood premiere. His father was the director, producer, writer and narrator for a documentary called Oh My God. That included a bunch of celebrities in this documentary, including but not limited to Ringo Starr, Hugh Jackman and David Copperfield. Elliot's father was also the assistant director for the first Hunger Games movie. So Elliot was able to attend that premiere as well, walked on the red carpet and everything. And there's even photos of him on the red carpet for the Hunger Games premiere. So I am not joking or overstating just how successful and well connected and well off his parents were. Right now I'm wearing my Hugo Boss shirt. It's one of my favorite button down shirts. This is a shirt I wore to the premiere of the Hunger Games. I look fabulous. And yeah, I did walk on the red carpet on that premiere. Which was quite, quite an experience indeed. Elliot lived in a big house. He went on very luxurious vacations. He traveled the entire world. He attended expensive private schools. It was a very privileged life. And Elliot really liked how much money his family had. He was the kind of kid that was always bragging about the fact that he had a rich successor. And he was a very successful parent. A lot of his self-worth definitely stemmed from having nice things that his parents were able to afford for him. Like he put a lot of worth in designer labels and expensive cars. And he really looked down on people that he felt had less than him and his family. At seven years old, Elliot's parents divorced and very quickly, his father moved on with a new girlfriend named Sumaya. Elliot would later write about this. About his father getting a new girlfriend and the way this made him feel. And I have a direct quote from Elliot on what his feelings were about his father getting a new girlfriend so closely after him and his mother divorced. Quote, Because of my father's acquisition of a new girlfriend, my little mind got the impression that my father was a man that women found attractive. As he was able to find a new girlfriend in such a short period of time from divorcing my mother. I subconsciously held him in a higher regard because of this. It is a very interesting how this phenomenon works. That men who can easily find female mates garner more respect from their fellow men. These are thoughts that Elliot is having at only seven years old about relationships and men and women. Elliot never really liked his father's new girlfriend Sumaya and he had absolutely no respect for her. And it made him very angry when she. Eventually became his new stepmother and later gave birth to his little half brother jazz growing up. Elliot desperately wanted to be one of the cool kids at school, but he never fit in with them and he was severely bullied and he really couldn't keep any friends. And I honestly wouldn't doubt if a lot of this wasn't because Elliot was kind of a huge jerk. He had an inflated ego. He looked down on people, even his own friends, because he thought that he deserved. Better quality friends. And this is the thing about Elliot now and really his entire life. He is a textbook narcissist and he thinks that he is truly better than everyone else around him, that he deserves more than everyone else around him. He thinks that he's entitled to be popular. He thinks that he's entitled to date the prettiest girls, but he puts in absolutely zero effort into actually making friends or trying to talk. To girls that he likes, that he thinks are pretty. He thinks that girls should be throwing themselves at him and he thinks that people should be approaching him to be his friend, not the other way around because he is the prize. He's the one that should be chased when he's in middle school. He has a crush on a girl. She probably did not reciprocate these feelings. I guess one day she was kind of mean to him and he writes about this like this was his villain origins. This was the defining traumatizing moment that changed his entire life and outlook on womankind forever. He truly looked at girls like they were evil and cruel just because they weren't throwing themselves at him. But like I just mentioned, he never once puts in any effort to actually try and flirt and get a date. He begged his parents to attend an all boys private high school. And then after school, he would just lock himself away in his bedroom and just be on his computer all the time, every single day playing World of Worldcraft or going on different like forum websites when he gets to high school and other boys are talking about dating and having sex. Elliot becomes so angry, jealous, resentful and hateful of all these other boys and of other girls because he has never had a girlfriend and he has never had sex. And what Elliot doesn't know yet at this point, he's only like 14. Spoiler alert, Elliot will never have a girlfriend and will never have sex for his entire life. And the longer he goes on without getting a girlfriend and without having sex, the more resentful and hateful he becomes. Elliot truly believes that he is deserving of pretty girlfriends, specifically hot, sexy, tall, blonde girlfriends and of sex more than any other guy. And he writes a lot about how he'll be at a party or he'll be driving by and he sees an ugly guy with a hot girlfriend and he just cannot understand how he got her and he doesn't have her because he deserves her more. I've been doing a lot of thinking about how. sad and unfair my life has been all because girls haven't been attracted to me I've had to rot in bleak and sad loneliness I mean you give a chance to all and he had no experience and no college degree so after his boss asked him to clean a bathroom he quit after one day and decides that he will go back to college his parents agreed it to pay for his college and also pay for him to live in an apartment so he's attending college in Santa Barbara and he's living in Isla Vista which is a very bustling college town full of young students Elliot believes that this is his big break he's now surrounded by parties and pretty girls and he thinks that he's finally going to find a girlfriend and he's finally going to lose his virginity and he specifically really wants to lose his virginity before his upcoming 20th birthday but that birthday comes and goes he does claim that he made one attempt to lose his virginity and that attempt was one day he was walking and he passed by a pretty girl and he said hi to her yeah that's it that was the attempt and a apparently when she didn't even say hi back to him he went into a public bathroom and Like, he doesn't have his own money. If he was a millionaire, he could get this sexy, tall, blonde girlfriend he wants so badly that he deserves so much. So he starts to think of ways that he could get a million dollars really, really fast, and he thinks that he will just have to win the lottery. And because Elliot is a narcissist, he truly believes that he is owed and entitled to winning the lottery, and there's, like, not a doubt in his mind that if he plays the lottery that he will not win. So over the course of about three days, he plays over, like, I think $1,300 in lottery tickets, and, of course, he loses. He writes, like, multiple pages, pages and pages and pages about trying to win the lottery, how he is entitled to win the lottery, and this will get him a girlfriend. I actually have another direct quote. It would be possible for me to get a tall, blonde, sexy girlfriend if I was a multimillionaire. Oh, yes, it would be very possible. Incel, meaning involuntarily celibate. These are men just like Elliot that want a romantic and sexual partner, but they cannot find one. Not all people that identify themselves with this community are exactly the same, but there are definitely a certain extreme crowd that have very similar beliefs to Elliot. They are extremely misogynistic, resentful, hateful towards women. They think they are entitled. They think they are entitled to women's bodies, and there is a lot of self-pity within this community, but again, there's not a lot of self-reflection. And finding this online community was the first time that Elliot Rodger really ever felt like he fit in somewhere, but unfortunately, there's also a lot of corners of this community with so much hate that it turns violent. Elliot begins having revenge fantasies where he would finally hurt the people that hurt him, the blonde girls that didn't want to date him. The couples that are so in love, just waving it in his face. He has this fantasy in his head for about three years, and he refers to it as the day of retribution. And over that time, he writes his manifesto, but it's more like an autobiography. He titles it, "My Twisted World: The Story of Elliot Rodger," where he documents nearly every single moment of his entire childhood and life. Every single thought, feeling he's ever had. In painful detail. A lot of things that he writes about in this manifesto are truly so offensive that I don't even think I would be able to say them out loud, and this episode still exists and, like, not get taken down. It's also so long. I don't know how long it took him to write this, but it's so long, it's way over 100,000 words. It has thousands of more words than the first Hunger Games novel. I've actually already read some direct quotes from this manifesto throughout this episode, but I wanted to just include a few more, so you can hear directly from him his views on women and his entitlement and his frustration. "All I ever wanted was to love women, but their behavior has only earned my hatred. I want to have sex with them and make them feel good, but they would be disgusted at the prospect. They have no sexual attraction towards me. It is such an injustice. And I vehemently question why things had to be this way. Why do women behave like vicious, stupid, cruel animals who take delight in my suffering and starvation? Women should not have the right to choose who to mate with. That choice should be made for them by civilized men of intelligence. There is no creature more evil and depraved than the human female, if I can't have them, no one will. I wanted a girlfriend. I wanted sex, love, affection, adoration. You think I'm unworthy of you? That's a crime I can never get over. If I can't have you girls, I will destroy you. It is unfair how some boys are able to live such pleasurable lives while I've never even had a taste of it. All you girls who rejected me, treated me like scum while you gave yourself. To other men. And all of you men for living a better life than me, I can't wait to give you exactly what you deserve. Annihilation. So yes, this is an extremely, deeply disturbed individual. And as Elliot is working out his violent revenge fantasy in his head, he gets really into going to the firing range and gets really, really into guns. He actually purchases three guns because he's fully planning on going through with his day retribution. He wrote, "I didn't want things to turn out this way. I wanted a happy, healthy life of love and sex. But if I'm unable to have such a life, then I will have no choice but to exact my revenge on the society that denied it from me." He wants to murder a bunch of people because he's a virgin. And he's planning out this mass murder when he gets injured and he has to reschedule his horrific plans. But how did Elliot get injured? Well on July 20th, 2013, Elliot crashes a house party. He gets really drunk and he goes up on like a balcony ledge and there's some girls out on the balcony and Elliot actually tries to push these girls off of the ledge. Luckily there were a group of guys nearby that witnessed this and they quickly jumped in to defend the girls, but they did end up beating Elliot up. He had a black eye, he had a bunch of injuries, and then they also pushed him off the ledge and he broke his ankle. And he claims that this was really the beginning of the end and what made him want to turn this violent revenge fantasy from fantasy to reality. Hey, Elliot Rodger here. Right now I'm going on a little tour through Isla Vista on a Friday night. This is when all the college parties happen. Every time I drive through this place, I am overcome with rage. Because I see so many guys walking around with beautiful blonde girls, enjoying their lives while I've lived here for more than two years in loneliness. Young couples walking around, it makes me so envious. And that's the house I got beat up at, when I walked in on the party. Here we go. Look at this. Groups of hot, young sluts who would just reject me. And these, look at these douchebags right here. These assholes, these obnoxious little slobs. And this is where we end up. This is where we end up. I see guys like this right now, not guys like those, those guys were ugly as fuck. A house party, beautiful girls talking with their, with their frat boys, I hate them all, they think they're better than me, they'll never accept me as one of them, those girls would never go for me, that was my first tour of this horrible, wretched, depraved town. Here I am, Elliot Rodger, beautiful, magnificent gentleman, though the girls around this town don't see it. They hang around with those slobs, those obnoxious, horrible, disgusting men, but they never give me a chance. That's why my life is so unfair. Elliot planned for this to go over the course of two days, Friday, May 23rd, 2014, and Saturday, May 24th, 2014. On Friday, he planned to go to his father's house and murder his stepmother and his little half-brother, Jazz. He always hated his stepmother, and he really grew to resent and hate his little brother, Jazz, because he thought that Jazz was growing up to be cooler and better with the ladies than him, and he just could not live with the fact that his little brother would live the life that he thought that he was entitled to. He didn't want to kill his dad, though. He didn't think he'd be able to go through with it, so he planned to murder his stepmother and his half-brother when his father was going to be away for business on Friday, the 23rd. He then planned to come back to his apartment, where he would murder his two roommates, so his apartment would be empty, and then he could use his apartment as a torture chamber. He would lure back people that he saw as people that wronged him, like pretty blonde girls and guys that got to have sex with these pretty blonde girls, and then he would torture them. He would pour boiling water all over their skin. He would slit their throats, decapitate them, skin them, and this is all only on Friday. On Saturday, he planned to go what he saw as the sorority house with the hottest girls in it. He would go to this house right before they were planning to have a big party. He would go in and, in his words, slaughter all of them, and then he would light the house on fire. On the day of retribution, I'm going to go into the hottest sorority house of UCSB and slaughter every single blonde stuck-up I see inside there, all of those girls who I've desired so much all my life. All those girls who would just look down upon me as an inferior man. They would reject me if I ever made a sexual advance towards them. Oh, they will all pay for their rejection of me. Elliot posted a video of him watching a couple on YouTube that he titled my reaction to seeing a young couple at the beach MV Elliot Roger here, I'm just sitting in my car right now enjoying the view of the beach and my view has been ruined by this site right here in front of me. Sitting right there on that bench is a young couple. Hot. I was enjoying such a nice view until they came and sat down and started kissing. This is the reason why life isn't fair. Why can't I experience something like that? I have to show everyone why I hate the world because no girl would do this with me. I hate them. I hate them so much. It's not fair. Life is not fair. Not reportedly, somebody saw this video. It is believed that this was his mother or both of his parents and they were very concerned by this video and for Elliot's mental health that they actually reported him and the police show up at his apartment. But Elliot was able to talk himself out of the police actually coming into his apartment and searching his apartment. And if they had searched his apartment, they would have found the guns, the collection of ammunition he had at this point and also his manifesto detailing his plans to commit mass murder in just a few days, which takes us to Friday, May 23rd. Elliot's father has a last second change of plans and decides not to go out of town that Friday. A simple choice actually saves the life of his wife. And his youngest child, because his father is home this day, Elliot does not decide that he is going to kill his stepmother and his brother. He then moves on to the next step of his plan, which is killing his two roommates, gearing up to commit murder for the first time. Elliot watches porn before making Google searches for quiet, silent kill with a knife and how to kill someone with a knife. He stabs his roommates, Cheng Yuanyang and George Chen, and their friend, Weihan Wang, who just so happened to be hanging out with them on that day. He stabs all three of these innocent men to death. In total, the three men were stabbed 142 times. This was a brutal, frenzied attack. He then posts his final video on YouTube that he recorded. You denied me a happy life, and in turn, I will deny all of you life. It's only fair. I hate you. I hate all of you. I've waited a long time for this. I can't wait to give you exactly what you deserve: utter annihilation. One minute later, he emails his 137-page manifesto to 34 different people, which included his parents, other members of his family. Some old schoolteachers. Some old friends. And also his former therapist. I finally checked my email. I saw this letter. It's from Elliott Rodger, who's a Santa Barbara City College student. It's 141 pages. So when you get to the end, which is where I went to immediately, page 134, it's a very detailed attack based on what I'm taking in the Iowa Vista, including shooting people and driving a car to intentionally run over pedestrians. Within five minutes of getting this email, his therapist reaches out to his mom. with her concerns and then his mom reaches out to Elliot's father with the same concerns and both of his parents rush over to Elliot's apartment while also calling the police. But sadly, it would be too late. The final passage of Elliot's manifesto read, why do things have to be this way? I'm sure that is a question everyone will be asking after the day of retribution is over. They will all be asking why? Indeed, why? That is the question I've had for everyone throughout all my years of suffering. Why was I condemned to a life of misery and worthlessness while other men were able to experience the pleasures of sex and love with women? Why do things have to be this way? I ask all of you. All I ever wanted was to love women and in turn to be loved by them back. Their behavior towards me, their behavior towards me, their behavior towards me, their behavior towards me, has only earned my hatred and rightfully so. I am the true victim in all of this. I am the good guy. Humanity struck at me first by condemning me to experience so much suffering. I did not ask for this. I didn't want this. I didn't start this war. Finally, at the end of the day, I know that I am the one who struck first. I am the one who struck first. For whatever reason, we will never know, Elliot changes his mind against banning the day of retribution across two days, Friday and Saturday, because immediately after posting that video and emailing out his manifesto, Elliot drives over to the sorority house that he said he was going to had the hottest and blondest girls living at who he planned to murder. The sorority house door was locked and Elliot was banging on the door, screaming at them to open the door, but they did not. This made him very, very angry that they would not open the door so he could kill them. And that exact moment, three girls that went to a different sorority just so happened to be walking by. So Elliot turns his gun on them. He kills Catherine. He kills Catherine Cooper and Veronica Weiss. The third girl survived after being shot five times. 911, what is the address of your emergency? Elliot then starts driving around the main streets of Isla Vista. It's a Friday night in a college town and it is very busy. As he's driving by a deli convenience store thing, he opens fire into the deli through the glass windows. There is footage of these young students desperately trying to find cover from the bullets that start raining into the deli. Tragically, one of the bullets does hit a 20-year-old. A college student in the chest named Christopher Michaels Martinez. And this does tragically kill Christopher. 911, what's the address of the emergency? I'm at Ivy Deli. You're dodging somebody else's on the line. I don't know what just happened. Okay, were you injured? Were you injured? I was shot. Okay, where are you? Somebody else's. We're at Ivy Deli in Isla Vista. Okay, you're at Ivy Deli and somebody's shot? Yeah, I don't know what just happened. Elliot is just driving around in his BMW. He is shooting at random people. He's running different people over. The police catch up to him. They start firing at him through his car and one bullet does hit Elliot in the hip. Elliot then crashes his BMW and can no longer drive away. Police rush over and swarm the car to arrest Elliot, but it is too late. Elliot was already dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His deadly rampage was over. Leaving 14 people injured and 6 people dead. Wei Hong Wong was born on July 6, 1993. He was only 20 years old. He was a sophomore majoring in computer engineering. Chang Wong Hong was born on April 15, 1994. He was also only 20 years old and was a sophomore majoring in computer engineering. George Chen was born on September 19, 1994. He was only 20 years old and was a sophomore majoring in computer engineering. He was also only 19 years old. He was also a sophomore majoring in computer science. Veronica Wise was born on February 24, 1995. She was 19 years old. She was a freshman and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and was majoring in financial mathematics and statistics. Catherine Cooper was born on December 26, 1991. She was 22 years old. She was a senior, only weeks away from graduating college. She was a member of Delta Delta sorority. She was double majoring in art history and classics and archaeology. Christopher Michaels Martinez was born on December 23, 1993. He was a 20-year-old sophomore majoring in English. In the wake of this tragedy, people were devastated and confused, just begging to know why something like this had to happen. It's absolutely terrifying how a stranger that you do not know and have never had any sort of connection with, can be having a bad day one day, and you could lose your life because of it. The following day, there was a huge candlelight vigil followed by a memorial at the college stadium with over 20,000 people in attendance. Disgustingly, the aftermath of this tragedy has been horrifying all in its own. Instead of looking at the actions of Elliot Rodger with disgust and horror, some in the incel community actually look up to him as a hero. They praise him and they call him the king of the incel community. They completely blame womankind for Elliot murdering six innocent people, spreading the narrative that any woman could have prevented this by just sleeping with him. And I know these pathetic, disgusting people existed, but I was even shocked just how many people there actually is that think this way. When I posted a video on Elliot Rodger on my TikTok months and months, probably like way over a year ago, my comments were just, flooded with people praising Elliot for what he did. It was disgusting. Some even referred to him as Saint, Saint Elliot, and they actually mark the anniversary of him killing six innocent people as Saint Elliot's Day. And the tragedies just continue because Elliot Rodger's crimes have gone on to influence a bunch of other mass killings, at least eight that we know of. And some of these incels that look up to Elliot as a hero have even gone on to harass and dox some of the people that he talked about by name in his manifesto. Like that girl that he thought rejected him when he was 11 years old was harassed so much that she actually had to file a report to get her name redacted from the manifesto. This is such a tragedy that something like this can happen. Like I said, that a stranger you don't even know can be having a bad day and you can lose your life because of it. And the fact that people, so many people, don't look at Elliot Rodger as a monster and instead look at him as something to aspire to. Like people refer to going as ER as like I'm going to do something just like him and I'm going to commit mass murder so I can go ER, go Elliot Rodger. It's absolutely, absolutely disgusting.
