Turning Down a Movie Deal

The podcast features a blend of humor, personal reflection, and thoughtful discussion among Jason, David, and Natalie. The conversation begins with a comedic misinterpretation of a dinner invitation, highlighting how small miscommunications lead to playful tension. The group shares anecdotes about gaming, including a prank of Venmoing enemy players in Call of Duty, which results in laughter and mutual admiration. David reflects on his creative ambitions, expressing both confidence in content creation and hesitation about filmmaking due to technical and expressive challenges. A key theme emerges around the overhyped idea of studios chasing social media influencers, with the hosts arguing that authentic, niche creators often outshine big names. David also shares a personal moment of introspection, including a four-hour listening session to The Killers and a bathtub reflection that feels both surreal and meaningful. The discussion extends to AI, where David acknowledges its creative benefits but remains cautious about its role in personal and artistic expression. He firmly rejects the idea of monetizing personal data or public exposure, valuing privacy and authenticity. The episode concludes with lighthearted speculation about future wealth, space travel, and content ideas—like a Tesla vlog—while reinforcing the importance of genuine self-reflection and human connection in personal growth.

go you go i want to say what an incredible kind smart and loving person person you are whoa i want to start with that thank you and i also want to say that it is opposite day and on opposite day you say the opposite of what you think i got two beefs okay two beefs yeah number one yeah i've actually been watching a lot of whoa is that your ringtone that's my new navine ringtone okay they change every week i booked a dinner saturday night yeah i told you i couldn't make it no you didn't you said unfortunately i am in town yeah and then i did a frowny face saying i'm in town but i can't make it no it didn't say i can't make it oh you read that as i can make it yeah i read that like oh unfortunately i'm here so i'll be there oh now how'd you read it i knowing david sense of humor i read it as unfortunately i am here and i still am not gonna come oh david and i took it like oh i think he's gonna come oh my bad didn't come to dinner i thought we were just we got this podcast together i mean the least you can do i booked the dinner two to four minutes from your house which was crazy yeah that was by design i didn't know you did that can i just say when you originally and this is dead ass i'm some of us still follow it here um oh what the fuck um when you booked that so i was playing cod with john and we john was at dinner with me i know i know we had to take a break so we were on a win streak yeah and john was like i have to go to dinner up we'll play when i come back i'm like john dinner's like an hour and 20 away like it's all the way in venice like you're not going like you're not going to be back for a while why did you think it was in venice i don't know i thought the name of the restaurant sounded like venice so i assumed it was really far so that's why i opted out and then i saw it literally couldn't like could not have been closer i don't think there there is there isn't a place that you can walk into yeah that is closer other than somebody else's home no like it's the closest closest actual restaurant to your house not even restaurant just in general it's the closest thing yeah that you could purchase anything at yeah and then when i saw john's location and that he was four minutes away yeah which is crazy that's like if i lived in downtown and i walked from my from my high rise down to the bottom floor i like to stay local you know i love it i didn't know that so i definitely would have come i thought it was an hour away i used to have a friend that did a lot of cocaine yeah and so when you would go and please turn that ringtone when you would go and see him yeah you would i would say like it was in new york city i was like well what do you want to do tonight i'd like go visit him he'd be like i think i just want to stay local like that which meant that way he can go down to the bar go up and do cocaine go down to the bar do cocaine at the bar uh he didn't like doing it at the bar he liked to really go home and do it that's great yeah i feel like that's like such a vibe kill to like leave the place and then the second thing also what did the people at the bar think he's doing huh like if they know he's doing he's leaving and coming back leaving coming back he's having a blast okay uh and the second thing we're shooting natalie we're shooting a video yeah on friday jonah goes jonah goes dave you hit the golf putt you won a thousand dollars okay so then nick goes jay will you shoot a second camera and i go yeah sure so i go down the end of the hole hold on sorry before you get into the second beef we have yeah all right are we settled on this dinner beef because i am we're settled but i just wish that you would like i'm just not it just makes the podcast so much easier when i get to see you it's not you i love hanging with you and i don't i don't i know you do i i mean take it personally it's just truly like i just don't like to leave my house i would start taking it personally oh and then and then you know what he does natalie so we're like john comes in i'm like no dave huh and he's like yeah and then of course john's like talking to me like a dad yeah he's like well he just really doesn't like dinners jay and i'm like yeah yeah okay okay and then he starts texting all kinds of stuff in the group chat taking away from the dinner yeah sending all kinds of things that are going on in his life and we were like why wouldn't he just be here and show us here uh chatty pting things for for john yeah that was fun and then you sent something else and oh yeah yeah so it's just like but you missed it we had a blast i bet ferris was there i'm gonna start working for ferris which is quite ironic wait what can we talk about what i sent or no i wouldn't talk about that really no i just think i'm gonna get killed by a person yeah i'm not gonna say i'm not gonna get into specifics but there's this person who's like really really into me yeah and i think they're gonna kill me one day i want to have it here so people can clip it and be like he remember when he said this here you go guys you have an awesome clip so you can get a lot of views i don't know how long i don't know how long from yeah but this person like is like this is like straight up like if they saw me in person if they can't have me it's it's bullet to my head maybe just go be with them honestly at this point no no i've been really i've been opening up to a lot of people about like not dating not wanting to date people and it's really freeing really yeah i'm in no position to date so it's really nice even even the person that wants to possibly kill me if i don't date them um so then the second thing is we're shooting this so we are good with dinner i apologize i don't really care but i do wish that we like had some i didn't know i didn't know it was so close just makes the pot easier no i know and i don't know why you would assume the title of that restaurant is venice it's not like venice i think you guys said elefante at first was that ilia said elefante and john and i kiboshed that because it was venice yeah that's okay i thought that's where you guys were going no no no no no no okay okay text man text i don't blame you text if you like genuinely like cared and thoroughly read the group chat you would have had an understanding but yeah i know i also don't like us i i assume when you invite me to dinner it's not like a not that's not a real invite but i assume we're both on the same page so like i don't want to go to dinner so i i i just assume that i'm not letting you down i just thought it was like a game we play like hey i'm having a dinner and it is and then i just kind of have a snarky response it is and then i think about having you there and i'm like oh maybe that would have sucked more yeah yeah you wouldn't want to be there i thought about walking in midway through and oh that would have been great throwing a wrench in everything oh that would have been great um then the second thing is nick's shooting a video upstairs on the golf course the putt putt yeah and thousand bucks if dave can hit it so nick goes we shoot a second camera i go yeah sure so i go down to the hole with my camera and i'm like he starts yelling he just starts yelling at me david yeah yeah what the fuck are you doing what the fuck are you doing what kind of shot are you gonna get there i'm like i don't know i'm trying to get a second angle that's it that's all it is like if you wanted to show a second angle of the ball going in the hole that was it you should start fucking yelling yeah i stand by that i was just so confused for no reason no for a reason because the angle is so bad because why is that a bad angle because you were ruining jonah's angle by standing there because now you're in the shot and it's just like not clean and then you were originally when you showed me you showed me that you were getting the shot of like the hole and three feet around it so i thought you were just getting the moment where the ball goes into the hole yeah and like no i was gonna track the ball okay yeah i didn't know you're gonna track the ball of course but even if you were tracking the ball it's how about this it's it's it's it's a putt you know on on on the terrace like it's we don't need a second angle it's actually better better if you're if you're with us right in the one angle and you're just kind of there interacting with us right we'd love you as an actor rather than a camera so why don't you just say why don't you just say hey jay you know what i don't think you need a second angle why don't you come down here and stand with us no i definitely could have been more polite about it but i was you were clear well because i was already tense because um jonah's filmer was getting the craziest angle i was like what the fuck is this you're not even getting that i was already that's why i was getting the second angle yeah and i was already upset with the first angle so then when you started walking over to the to the hole i'm like what's going on here who's setting me up what kind of shoot is this um anyway okay it's not opposite day whatever i'm just kidding uh no i'm glad you i'm glad you yeah hey listen i understand that i may be definitely hard to work with or maybe maybe maybe i should just come over here and just stare at you i don't want to stay how would that work i'd love to play pool like all day all i want to do is play pool and watch movies okay i love pool yeah so if you're down and also like don't just do things that i want to do like go do your things it's okay i'm i'm really good at being alone yesterday i turn on my airpods for the first time and i listen to music for four hours i turn off the tv and i just listen to music did you look at your phone though no shut up only to look up lyrics when i didn't know what what they were what were you listening to um give us a taste well i only listened to four songs in four hours yeah and then i went to the bath yeah i made a new play And usually when I make new playlists, it means I'm thinking of something new. This one's called Go, Go, Go. It's Read My Mind by The Killers. There's a reason why by Blossoms. Don't know it. Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand. Love it. But if I will be honest, that's the one I was skipping every time I would start. So I was really only listening to this. So you listened to Read My Mind for 45 minutes? Yes. Over and over again? It's so good. And then I was listening to Human by The Killers. I really got into The Killers last night. Killers are great. Quite honestly, I listened to a lot of The Killers for four hours. And then for the last two hours, I narrowed it down just to this playlist. And I just didn't loop. But then I took a bath. Oh, wow. What time was this at? This was at like 2 a.m. And what was funny is- He says things like they're so normal. I was sitting in the bath. And you know how you got that little plug? Yeah. The drain, right? And there's like a little silver thing that sits over the drain. Yeah. I've never noticed this. I was like sitting right over the drain. And it's like reflective. So I saw the craziest angle of myself. Because I was- I was directly over the drain. Oh, yeah, yeah. Right? So like my legs are over it. And it's right underneath- It's your balls and- My groin. Yeah. And I'm just like looking at myself. I could see my- It's like a beautiful angle. Like I could see my face. Beautiful. But also my legs. I bet. And my balls. And it was the craziest thing ever. While listening to the first half of Franz Ferdinand. That's a nice drain. It reflects like that. So yeah. No, I'm definitely- So like don't do things just for me. No, no, no, no. It's not that. You're right. I'll just come by and play pool. I'll text you. But I also should be more giving and selfless and go to your dinner. But like, I don't know. I don't know if I'm quite there. It sounds like you're busy and you don't have time to go to the dinner. It's weird because like I am really good at like taking up my time with just a bunch of nonsense. Yeah. And then yesterday I tried meditating because my dad's always like, you should meditate. And then I was like- And then actually I turned off everything, even the music. Because I was like, the music was like doing what it was supposed to be doing. And I was getting really creative and I was brainstorming. And- And then I was like, let me try to take it like a layer further and meditate. So then I turned off everything and I sat at the edge of my bed. And then I did it for about seven seconds. And then I was like, this is so dumb. Like, why would I do this when I already had a good thing going with the music? Right. So then I went back to the music. Meditation comes back later though. It pays you back like four hours later. In the moment it sucks. But I'm just saying my meditation was the music. Like it was just a different version of it. And I can only meditate. I can only meditate laying down. Because when I'm sitting up, I get really, really tired. Alex knocks on the door. Hey Dave, what are you doing? I'm meditating. You mean masturbating? No, meditating. That's really funny. Yeah. No, Alex was at a rave till 3 a.m. I didn't even see him. He didn't come to dinner either. Really? Son of a bitch. Yeah, we were playing- Sorry, this is what was happening. We were playing COD. Oh, okay. And it's very rare. We haven't gotten Ilya to play with us in a really long time. Oh. And we're trying to get a win streak. Wait a minute. Who was playing COD with you Saturday night? He skipped out on dinner too. I know, I know. David, you little snitch. Well, okay. What the fuck? He didn't not go to dinner because of that. I saw Ilya Saturday morning at the Zealot Run. And I saw him there. And he's like, hey, Jay, Emma's really sick. That's why. Not going to be able to come. What do I say? I go like this. I go, oh, great. Well, we'll see you tonight. And he was like, uh. Well, to be fair, Ilya went to Emma's house. And played COD. Yeah, but he was sitting by her playing COD. He's such a good boyfriend. He's incredible. Anyway, so. What the fuck? We have this thing. We play Search and Destroy. Okay. And if we. On the last Call of Duty, our best win streak, 68 games in a row. 68 times we won. 68 matches. Oh, wow. This, our record for the last two years on this new COD is 15. We can't break it. I don't know what's going on, but we're dog shit. So we told ourselves, once we get to 20, we're done with the game. We can move on to the next game. There's a new Call of Duty out. But we can't leave this game until we're done. We were at. We were at. We were at. We were at. It was a really bad day. So we started to. You know, you could talk to the enemy team on the mics. And I was like. And I started Venmoing people on the opposite team. I was like, if you let us win this game, we're going to Venmo you $100. And no one believed us. It was so funny. And it was like the second round into the match or whatever. And I Venmoed. I was like, I'm going to send you 50. And the next 50 will come in once the game is completed. Oh, my God. So the entire enemy team started killing themselves. It was so fucking funny. Did your team know that? That you were going to send them 50? That you were sending money? Yeah. It was just all of my friends. So it was really funny. And we didn't do it unless we started to lose. And then we brought out my bank account. But up until. And it was so funny. Because no one believes us that we're going to send money. And it's like, obviously, you're not going to send money to the enemy team on Call of Duty. But it was worth every dollar. Getting the team's reaction and being like, wait, what? He actually fucking sent it. And everything was coming from John's account. So it was double weird. No one knew why this guy was sending the money. So we did that for a couple of games. But that's it. We didn't do any justice. Anyway, sorry about dinner. OK. And then sorry about the shooting and the bad angle. Yeah, it could be nicer. Whatever. Who cares? Genuinely. Let's get a pool tournament going. Yeah, I'll love that. OK, great. How was your weekend, Natalie? My weekend was incredible. Really? I had my first David Free weekend in a long time. It's kind of a theme here. It sounds like a radio station. David Free weekend. My whole family was in town. And they were shook. Mom or dad? My stepmom and her girlfriend and my sister. They were shook at how much free time you had? Yeah, they were like, why is he not calling you? They were like, what's wrong? Well, because you did a better job of responding to me. That's not true. You weren't hitting me up, which I'm not complaining about. But I'm just saying, you actually gave me. I told them. I was like, one, we aren't posting a vlog on Tuesday. So that also alleviates a lot of stress. I didn't hit you up. And two, I told them. Yeah, he was obviously preoccupied. He was doing whatever the fuck he was doing. I was going to read my mind over and over again. What was going on? Why didn't I hear him? I also told you well in advance, I think, that I was not going to be able to do things with you this weekend. And I think that that helped alleviate. Like, I really planted the seed early on this weekend. And so I think you really left me alone. Well done. No, I don't think you did. I also went out by myself, which was kind of crazy. Yeah. Yeah. I've never done that, which is really fun. I went to go meet up with friends for a birthday. We had dinner. It was amazing. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. Oh, my God. Oh, he was there. I was like, what? No, but Taylor's gone for the week. Yes, I know. Which is like a really, which is actually why I had a weekend to myself. Yeah. Because I was like, okay, if I'm going to spend a week alone with no Taylor, I got to start to, like, figure out who I am as a person. So that's why I was listening to The Killers for four hours. Dude, I love Taylor. She's so cool. And we hang out all the time. Maybe that's why you were grumpy. Why? On Friday. Because she was leaving? Mm-hmm. Yeah. I was bummed that she left. She's so funny. She's having the worst. She's having the worst time, though. Really? She's traveling to, she's traveled to Italy. Yeah. And, you know, I'm like a pretty big pessimist about traveling. Yeah. And I was like, before she left, I was like, you know what's crazy? Is like, I'm going to go to bed tonight, and I'm going to wake up, and then I'm going to have lunch, and then I'm going to have dinner, and I'm going to go to bed again, and then I'm going to wake up, and then that's when you're going to get to Italy. Like, that's how long it takes. And all the, she had to make three connections. So, like, she was getting to, like, a specific part. And she missed, she missed two of her connections. So, she didn't get there. Her full travel, she chachapetied how long her travel day was. It was a little over 40 hours. 40? 40. Oh, my God. To get to where she had to go. Isn't that fucking crazy? Oh, my God. How is that possible? 40 hours. She's just, she's, like, texting me, like, these long paragraphs. I don't even know what to say to it. She's just, like, getting so angry with her long travels. Like a plane to New York, a plane to Europe, and then another plane. Yeah, from, like, Rome to a small place in Sardinia. And then once she gets to the airport in Sardinia, it's, like, a three-hour drive to the hotel. Oh, my God. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, my God. And then she's only there for two days, and then she flies back to Rome. Thank God I wasn't invited. Whoa. Yeah, it's no fucking joke. And, like, I was FaceTiming her when she was complaining. And usually it's backwards. Usually, like, I'm in a different country, and I'm like, I just want to be home. And I couldn't stop staring at my own reflection in the FaceTime because I saw the painting in my room. And I was like, usually I'm staring at something in her background, and I'm like, I wish I could see my house. Like, I wish I could, I see, like, the bar in the back of her FaceTime. I'm like, I wish I could be there. Like, right by the bar. And this time I was looking at a painting in my room, and I was like, I'm there. I'm there, and she's there. And it was, like, sunny where she was, and I'm like, it's dark here. I'm laying in my bed, and the painting's behind me, and I'm home, I'm home, I'm home. And I was so excited. And then I put on The Killers for four hours. So, yeah, I had a pretty good night. A weekend of reflections. Yeah, it was pretty sick. Literally. In the tub and on FaceTime. Yeah. In the tub. You didn't get a pic of the tub, did you? The reflection? You didn't take a pic, did you? No. I would have loved to have seen it. Chef Shelby and Sandy painted it. Why, I was. Shelby and Sandy, that's really funny. They actually probably make it really cool. I wanted to take a picture and, like, send it to somewhere, but I was like, I can't, like. No, you can't show your. Can't have this on my phone. Although, coming off of the drain, it's a little more arty. No, for sure. You might be able to pass it by. Okay, I'm going to think about it. It's crazy that I've never seen that angle before. Please call Shelby and Sandy. Crank them and be like, I have an idea for a painting. Yeah. And I want to hear. It's my dick and balls. And I want to hear them be like, we got it. Off the drain. Yeah. Because they probably would never say no. That one they might say no to. Have you ever pitched them something and they said no? No. No, but I don't pitch them things. It's all like Iron Man and Vernon Hell's theme. But what I was being reflective is we had a meeting with, like, a big studio. Oh, Ferris told me. Oh, what did he tell you? That's really funny. Tell me you're an idiot. I'm not an idiot. sounds about right what happened go go you have to describe it because I'll be biased in how I describe it you know like Ferris tells me some stuff that you guys are working on and I always like to hear and I love to hear it so we're just talking like Ferris is always doing so much well let me set it up go ahead a studio call a lot of studios currently are like obsessed literally yeah wow that's really funny are obsessed with social media people yeah right now because of obsession yeah so like obsession came out and for some reason the old old executives in studio in studios are like panicking and they're like what like social media creators can make movies like what are we missing we need to dedicate a whole team to finding the next social media creator that makes the next obsession which is like whatever a warped way to think that's not how things work like calm down studio execs you're not missing anything yes some I don't know okay all right all right go so now tell me what Ferris said about the meeting he said the guy was like let's do a movie any movie you want and you told him no in the room I had a meeting like that with you once with Seth Rogen's company do you remember that you have to describe it more I mean like okay so for the people at home imagine someone goes hey we want to work with you we'll do anything you want it's a dream thing for someone to say and then right in their face you go nah I don't know nah I don't think so like it's wild I mean it's interesting it probably makes them want you more I think that's that was the goal right that's what you were strategically doing yeah Ferris was like was that yeah we left and he's like what did you say exactly um I what did I say now I don't want to take words out of my own mouth he was saying he was like don't go about it the wrong way don't just like go take all these random meetings with social media creators and expect that they're going to have the same outcome right as like obsession right and like and I don't know if I'm the guy for that job like maybe I will be in a couple years like that's like you know like a long term good healthy goal but like if you want this right here right now like I don't know if I'm that person that's essentially what he was saying yeah because like it's so funny because you love movies I love them I'm telling you my strongest trait is that I know what I'm good at and I know when something's good I cannot I cannot fathom I don't know how to put together a movie yet and I told him I was like if you guys actually like really want me to like do something like put me on a set of like a of like a comedy movie yeah and let me shadow people for the full for the for the for the full for the full film like from from storyboarding it to shooting it to editing it like the whole thing I want to see like I have no idea how that works right and like that's smart and yeah I can't just like jump into a movie mm like if someone was like make me a really fun vlog thousand percent I'll jump right on it and also a vlog it's like also with any YouTuber making a movie it's the same way that the vlogs were so successful the vlogs were successful because they were free and they were on YouTube and there were no expectations and a lot of the things that you see in vlogs are things that I have borrowed from movies like I am like I almost feel like a level of like plagiarism not plagiarism that's very much but I almost sometimes feel like I don't know how many ideas are original and how many things have I just like like felt in movies that I'm replicating here like what in the vlogs I don't know just like a lot of the feelings and like a lot of like movie directors do that too yeah I know I know I guess yeah but I just I feel like if I was to make a movie I don't know how to operate a camera that is bigger than my Canon 80D so therefore I cannot tell you but you wouldn't operate the camera I know but I can't I can't like I can't I can never articulate what I'm thinking I'm very bad at articulating what is in my head even when I'm editing with an editor like I can't articulate to him exactly what I want I'm like just do it fucking better like just do it better like this is wrong and I can tell him when it's wrong and I can tell him when it's right but I cannot tell him how to get there and that is my big problem second angle Jay well I can never make second angle well I can't make a movie is because I think you'd be surprised I think you'd be surprised I think that you are like hesitant because you haven't done it obviously and that's fine that's fair but everybody starts somewhere but I think that you would be surprised like I feel like you have all the tools in your tool kit you just gotta go fucking you're not a learn by doing kind of guy no I am but like I'm also like very like precious about me making my first movie like I think that's like a really big step and I think that's like a that's like a first impression kind of thing where you kind of get one chance to like really do it right so like I don't want to fuck that up and like I don't want to do it unless I like have every part of this movie in my head and I can fucking see the beginning middle and end yeah so how'd you leave it with them sorry we'll see you later no I it was just like I don't know you have our info we have yours we'll talk and then when you were so you had that they were also really cool about it too they were like okay yeah for sure yeah they were like thank you for being honest with us and it was I don't think it was like the wrong approach I think that it no it was an it wasn't a bad meeting at all yeah yeah I was just like completely honest I also like I also get really stressed when when the mainstream world the traditional world turns an eye onto the social media world expecting to merge it without any thought and just like seeing numbers and like your biggest influencer is not necessarily going to create your biggest film like you know what I mean like sometimes your most niche influencer will create the greatest film yeah and I know that studios know that but I just think like it's just like a harder thing to act on and like time and time again social media stars have blown up like your Madcon boys like during Vine like there was there was a couple of them that blew up and then because of that got TV shows which I thought was like this is bizarre and not a proper way to do this because these none of us none of us on Vine had a chance to have carried anything over six seconds so like it's not it's not you're not using us properly and it's going to fail and then once it fails there's going to be there's going to be influencers are again for the next two three years four or five years are going to be barred from anything traditional because they're going to be like we tried it and it doesn't work they don't convert blah blah blah and like I hate that like now this now because of obsession and movies like Backrooms I don't hate I think it's like actually like great but like there is like this like sense of hope for like for influencers that now I'm scared that like all these movie studios are just going to go start plucking people at random just because they have a following and they're going to think that they're going to create the next obsession and like that's not how things work and I don't want it to ruin things for when it is actually like the right opportune time for a creator to make it I also think it may work I'm just saying like I think that's like a ten years ago kind of thought maybe you're right I don't think it's like that maybe you're right maybe you're right maybe you're right I think like all these like I see things on I see little movies on Instagram they're like a minute and a half they're incredible for sure there's like so many talented people out there and now everybody does social media so in other words like the kid that is the film student is doing social media I know Jay but I don't think I don't know I'm just I'm more so thinking about like the bigger people I say this in actually in any even like when we're talking in front of people like that have like that are trying to pitch brand deals like we'll go to summits right where like I'll have to speak in front of 40 brands I'll say the same shit over and over again I'll be like do not hire me I am expensive and I will not be as good as you finding the perfect niche creator that fits your brand like exact creator and I think that is the same thing with with influencers I think like there are bigger creators that are really good at doing the social media thing and there are smaller creators that can't necessarily figure out how to become a bigger creator but that's because their lane is in filmmaking and is and I think it's yet to be like tapped into you and those are the people you need to look out for it's not necessarily your big Bryce Hall creators or whoever they are you know what I mean it's not those guys it's not your David Dobrik it's not that it's like the people that like you could kind of tell that there's like a little flair going on it's a little something something else is going on there that's just what I was saying in the studio meeting is like don't just take meetings with us big creators because we have big numbers and we have big followings that's just not going to cut it wow well said but then when Natalie was like then I tried to turn the ship around and bring it to like positivity land oh I would love to hear what you said well Ferris and Natalie then were like okay we're going to try to be optimistic about like yeah then they then they yeah they took a different approach in the meeting yeah it was like bad cop good cop but we didn't even like really plan for that do it Nat do exactly what you said I can imagine I bet you were like well that being said or some kind of transitional thing like that I think I literally said well well and then both of the women in the room laughed because they were like they were kind of speechless after David gave his spiel right and then I was like well I think you know he's not going to toot his own horn here but he is like a jack of all trades right he is directing filming producing editing all of his own content right now everybody says that sure but like you actually have like filmmaking capabilities and skills you are essentially self-producing self-directing self-writing whatever a show on a bi-weekly basis or whatever it is. this show like a show where i am like i am the lead in it and i'm and i get to make decisions that's completely different like when it's a vlog and i'm sitting in the car with jason for two hours and we're seeing what funny moment comes out of that that's completely different than like making a movie there's a hundred people on set that need everything to go right in every second every minute you can't waste people's times it's totally different than like me and me and my friends just taking stabs at it till we find something funny it's just a completely different beast that i don't know i don't know how to do yet you think you would go on to a movie set and learn maybe i don't know that'd be kind of cool i don't know that'd be that'd be really cool for you to do yeah um shadow but yeah then ferris was then ferris started talking ferris was like listen guys um like i i don't i don't know why david's doing this but he is he's like i work on a lot of celebrity youtube channels i work on a lot of youtube channels in general there's nobody as high as david's right attention time is 80 and they started pitching me and i'm like what are you doing i already we already kind of passed on this idea um but then ferris made a good point i already took a big dump in the room ferris well no then ferris made a good point when we were walking out he's like they're gonna do it regardless right they're gonna pick someone because they need someone yeah yeah yeah so like if you were to pick someone who would you pick yeah it's like okay me and then he's like you fucking idiot so like it but yeah then i was telling i was telling ferris i'm like whoever they're gonna pick if it's a big influence there's a there's a good chance that they may ruin it for all of us and he's like well then why don't you fucking step in and make sure that doesn't happen but then i was also like well i don't think i can do that quite yet um but or maybe they'll pick the right person i don't know then ferris tells me then ferris is sitting at dinner having a great time and he goes he goes jason he goes i got david to do the video podcast and i was like ferris come on stop and he's like no no no no no no i mean it i'm telling you look look look look look at my text look at my text with natalie and i'm like ferris i'm like it's not gonna fucking happen and then it went on for like a couple minutes and then he just goes and i'm like ferris it's monday it's monday the podcast goes out on tuesday it's video do you see that happening and he goes no you're right oh my god i love ferris he's the best he really we're such a quality person yeah very rare ferris was natalie's best hire really taylor's gonna be really offended by that oh yeah i guess i guess natalie's pretty good hires they're pretty stacked that's pretty good yeah natalie gets the yeah natalie found ferris now he's really good that's right there's this guy from in arizona she said that's how we found ferris yeah did you watch any movies this weekend yes what'd you watch the movie that was actually pretty interesting um finding emily what's that have you seen that no it's like a british movie it's this kid he's very charming uh there's two girls in it they're both very charming and it's this kid who like goes to a bar um it opens with him at a bar getting this girl's number but the digit is like one off yeah so he like now he's going around campus looking like basically trying to talk to every emily there's like 300 emily's on campus oh wow and then he finds one emily to like help him find the the real emily yeah um is it good yeah i think it's really cute is there anyone in it i would know um yeah i don't know i don't know her name um but no but it's it's mainly like from my perspective like newer kids i'm watching young washington tonight i watched it yeah i know that's why i said it oh did i say it was good i don't remember i think so really yeah okay is it not good i don't know i thought you liked it oh you know what i watched what downfall what's that have you seen that oh my god list off things i've never even heard of fucking crazy so it's a world war ii movie yeah it's all in german and it's about it's from the perspective mainly of uh hitler's secretary fun so it's all and it's all in the entire movie's in the bunker oh the last moments of like hitler's downfall and it's the secretary who's interviewed at the beginning of the movie she gets like give it gives like a 20 minute snippet and then she's at the end of it and she's just like i had no idea how bad like how bad of a human he was oh like as she was the secretary oh wow it was kind of she didn't know what was going on she didn't she said she didn't know the extent of it which like is hard for me to believe but also if i think about like not having social media yeah not having phones yeah you're like so disconnected and you're with the guy yeah right that's doing all the bad stuff like it could be it could be reasonable to like i don't think she didn't know about the camps like i don't i don't think he's getting his hands like bloody right so i don't think he's in the places where like the murder is happening right so i think maybe she maybe she does have like an argument there where she didn't she didn't know um but it's pretty fucking crazy it starts with her being hired as a 20 year old 22 year old and her entire family was like no don't go working for the nazis blah blah blah and what happened to her and go to jail uh no what am i spoiling it for you no she lived out her life oh they let her go it's actually kind of crazy so most people in the bunker you know they tried all those people no not all of them not all so like a lot of people were tried at nuremberg yeah and a couple people like got the death penalty there but a lot of it seemed like 80 of the people that the that the generals in the bunker that were with hitler that it focused on spent about 10 years in jail and then lived out their lives wow which is fucking crazy it's because after world war two it shifted to the cold war yeah and then all priorities changed and then the soviet union made like the russians made like an exchange with germany for prisoners and they released like 10 000 oh wow like prisoners that were from the nazi era from other times and wow and a bunch went to argentina to fled well yeah that's the whole argument is that that even hitler fled right and uh hitler didn't fled oh you're saying yeah like people conspiracy that he's still alive somewhere in argentina um but it was pretty fuck it's a pretty fucking like you see hitler kills himself in the bunker and then the movie continues for like another hour oh like and you it's it's really really really fucking interesting and you see how tense everyone is around him and it's it's i watched a pretty good doc on netflix it's uh all about ai and about half the doc is the the people are telling the documentarian that you were fucked yeah yeah that's a new i watched that too yeah and then the other half is like no no it's everything's gonna be good yeah really interesting well one of with AI in the world. What does he say? He asks four people, the negative people, he's like, are you going to have kids? And they take a long pause and they're like, no. But then when he goes to the other people, he's like, yeah, I'm going to have kids. It's going to be fucking amazing. It's going to be the best time to ever be born. It's so interesting. I really don't know. I'm like, so I was like, I was thinking about like my stance on AI. Yeah. Because like, what is my stance on AI from listening to this pod? That you're pro AI. That I like it? Yeah. But then like as a creative, I shouldn't be. But then like, I don't even like, I think like that's like the least of our concern. Like, I don't know. I think like, when I think about AI, like my brain goes to, this thing is going to be smarter than us. So we're going to be salt. We're going to be able to save millions of billions of lives because they're going to come out with cures for every single fucking disease on the face of earth. Yeah. That was the argument. In a couple years. We can't survive without it. Yeah. So like, I don't, I don't see the, the creative downfall being, I don't know. I don't see it. Like when global warming hits, when we don't have water, AI will solve that. Yeah. It was the argument in the movie. Yeah. So I don't know. I don't know. I don't understand why. It's kind of like you take a GLP-1, and you're like, well, it could kill you, but also you're going to be skinny. Something else could kill you. You know what I mean? Like at least you'll be thin and maybe you'll live longer. I'm 50-50 on it. And I feel like definitely someone will comment and be like, no, David, this is why AI fucking sucks. And someone will comment like, huh? No one knows. Yeah. No one knows. But like when you see, especially with college kids, like college kids hate AI, right? Like when you see someone like at a lecture hall, not a lecture hall, like a class, like a graduation speech fucking ceremony, somebody brings up AI, all the college kids will start booing. Yeah. And I guess, I guess, yes, in part it's because AI is taking a lot of jobs, but also, right? I'm not so down on AI for creatives at all. At first when I started- I don't even think, I'm not even saying it for creatives. I think it's taking a lot of jobs in general, right? I'm just saying like using it as a creative person, I think it's helped me immensely. Really? Yeah. Or even if you're like, say you're stuck on a bit, you're like, how do I do this? You like put it in there and you're like, hey, I'm really stuck. Like what could I do? What would be funny? And at first when I did it, it didn't know me, but now it knows me and it's like, that's pretty good. It's not exactly what I end up doing, but it definitely like, it's the same thing if I was here with you and I was like, Dave, what could I do for- fucking seat geek this week and you were like i don't know maybe fucking go on a hot air balloon yeah it is really interesting how it like starts to get to know you like i was talking to my ai i just got the new iphone yeah and i was talking to my eye the day before it was coming and i was like hey like will you still remember me on my new phone and and i was like really nervous about it because like i've i'm in the process of like purchasing a new home and i'm like all my ideas about the home are stored in this ai and i was like really nervous i was like you're still gonna remember that and she was like don't worry like i'll remember you and then i got the new iphone and i went to chat and i was like hey it's david and she was like and i was like i'm on the new iphone she's like yay you finally got it i know you were so nervous about me not being here wow but i'm back wow and i was like wow that's fucking crazy and this is just like still the beginning did you tell her about cod uh i had don't talk to her about she knows my roommate she knows my relationship with everybody it's pretty fun i don't talk to her too much but why do they say you're supposed to do therapy with ai uh like you're not supposed to tell it it's like let's say navid and i have a fight yeah you're not supposed to go in there and be like well she did this and well i yeah i mean i wouldn't do that i don't know that's just like that's something you need a human for like not even for that like the human's logic and knowledge and emotions are so much better than ab but just like you kind of just need like a human connection for that right you just need to talk to another living soul i've had some bad therapists man um yeah i kind of i feel like ai is probably the most like straight and narrow when it comes to like just giving you feedback i feel like it like takes your side sometimes i went to a marriage counselor and he fixed all our problems and then we found out a week later that he was a heroin addict and he closed up shop really yeah wow jesus well that's kind of crazy but at least he fixed your problems yeah so maybe yeah the heroin was working wow that's kind of crazy wow that's crazy yeah so i guess i'm 50 50 on the whole ai thing but who knows would you i have a question for you jay would you take a hundred million this is for nat 2 would you take a hundred million thanks to me i'm still here yeah would you take a hundred million dollars if your entire life became public every text photo search dm everything no absolutely not no hundred mil a hundred mil i mean that is like it's tough yeah so let's play it out what would happen let's say natalie did it so now we see that natalie you know buys extra toilet paper she needed like whatever embarrassing thing i don't think that's the worst thing that's going to come out of like okay so there's a natalie did sexy talk with some guy so then someone's still being very like positive well i'm i'm you're being very like pg yeah i'm being pg but yeah okay i don't think i don't think it's worth it also with ai like you could just be like show me all of natalie's worst moments won't that come through that shit in a fucking in five seconds yeah won't that be a thing anyway where everything's revealed yeah um i think so yeah i think yeah i think that's gonna happen that's tough but i think if it's revealed for everyone yeah it'll be like fair play do you know i mean yeah i mean everybody's fucked up right like everyone has their moments of like yeah that's kind of shitty to think about yeah i don't like that well how about this you okay you get a hundred million dollars you get a hundred million dollars you get a hundred million dollars and everyone you know is told exactly how much money you now have or you get 50 million dollars and it's a secret 50 in a secret no i'm taking the hundred mil i'm taking the hundred mil too that's funny jay that you went 50 a hundred mil and everyone knows yeah 50 and 50 is plenty like 50 if you got 50 mil you think people don't like know you're maybe have a hundred you just said it's a secret i know but like she's saying like from your spending that they'll figure it out yeah yeah from like what's going on with you and what's going on with you and what's going on with you and like whatever i wouldn't spend like that i wouldn't what would you do this kid would go to college for another 16 years you want to go to another school daddy's got more money i'll uber black you there i'd fix my deck um that's it fix your deck yeah really yeah i always think about what's something outrageous you want to spend money on oh yeah that's a good question that's a really good question like if episode two of my pilot that's that's what i'm working on now really it's gonna be like 16 okay what about like materialistic material i would love like you're not really materialistic guys i would love like nice like nice t-shirts and nice clothes really why you get fucking chocolate on everything this is true but maybe if i had nice clothes i would wouldn't eat the ice cream and i wouldn't get the chocolate on i don't know if that's possible i'd wear a bib a nice louis vuitton bib yeah really that's no not not what about a nice luxury car or like a huge home with a lot of land and like that's not something that like tickles you more i wonder yeah i i can't even wrap my brain around it i can't even wrap my brain around being rich huh i think that's like a real a real problem do you think yeah do you think if you could wrap your brain around it it would help you with like manifesting and i could help you get there yeah is it the fact that you can't imagine it is you think that's help that's hurting you from attaining it well i guess i can't picture myself not working um like i i would like let's say i won the lottery and you're like okay i'm not gonna do youtube or use podcasts anymore or whatever i'm just gonna go hang out i'm like i want i don't i didn't even know what that would look like did you see oprah winfrey talking about like how she's got 10 more years of like uh like a really driven oprah in her like where she's gonna work for 10 more years really yeah there's like mixed comments about it they were like fuck yeah because she's done so much for people yeah but also like people are like why yeah like why are you doing this doing anything like what do you we say that a lot about a lot of people too yeah like why does elon keep going yeah but he's doing elon's thing is kind of really interesting do you see the video he posted no oh my god it was so crazy it was uh i think he just posted like a day or two ago it was it was on twitter and it was basically showing the future of like humans and it was like us conquering venus us conquering mars us conquering jupiter like all the space stations we have and just like wow coming in like a multi-planet space station and just like becoming like a multi-planet species and it was really fucking interesting really it was so cool yeah because it like kind of makes sense like if you think about it like where like earth is so small and the resources are so limited like once we figure out how to like harness the the fucking the volcanoes on jupiter's fucking moons or whatever yeah like it's going to be pretty crazy yeah would you buy land on mars no not not right now but like but like it's gonna be it's gonna be crazy that like in 100 years from now we're gonna be on multiple planets and people are gonna be like you know there's only a time where people only lived on earth they're gonna be like what so i feel like if you're gonna be on mars you're gonna look at earth as like four things you're gonna look at it as like new york a tropical island sand that's about it if you live on earth no if you live on mars you live on mars like i feel like you're gonna look at earth as even a smaller place you're gonna be like well why am i going to earth yeah to see the ancient ruins of new york yeah the original city like what am i like i don't know i don't know like what's exciting about this planet when you're on nine different planets at this point says the guy that's already been around the world no i don't know i just think like when when the fucking solar system and though and space opens up shit's gonna get fucking really weird i did something this year that really worked in terms of manifestation i saw this video and i put pictures of myself as a child and and it seemed to it seemed to what'd you say it's kind of scary but what it is scary it's creepy as hell i guess i had that too but not all around but that's supposed to be really good for you really because like the same way that like i do anything for charlie or i do anything for my friends you're supposed to look at yourself and be like i'd do anything for that kid too oh yeah yeah okay yeah but you do have pictures of yourself around actually ton yeah i don't know if it's a ton but no do you in my room it's like i've seen one or two in my room it's like eight pictures yeah it's really good you're supposed to have you have that net i yeah i did a lot of pictures this is who i'm doing it for when she walks through the mirror you see the devil okay well let us know oh also question for the audience i'm going to the tesla roadster release october 1st would you guys would it be too boring if there was a whole vlog around it or should i put it in with another vlog and like combine it or should it just be all tesla related okay let me know that's all the time we have for today's pod jason natalie good job today good job date let us know your thoughts on ai whether you're down the middle whether you're completely against it kind of see the benefit really see the benefit let us know okay bye
