Speaker 1Keep you in the dark, you don't let go, pretend Vincent gets him out now, and
Speaker 2here he comes. Denon Kingley gets up the rail, Golden 60, they roar for their hometown hero, he's a length clear over Salios, running on Mother Earth, it's Golden 60, the locals can't beat him. The internationals can't beat him, this is his house,
Speaker 3Fortress Golden 60. Guesthouse bursting up the inside, Guesthouse moves up from music time, Streisand, Guesthouse won the slipper, Guesthouse beats Streisand, photo third, music time, Kaiying Rising stoked up, Perkins says come on boy, show the Aussies what you've got, Kaiying Rising moved up to wave a pass, clear from Jimmy Starr, the Kaiying Rising champions do what others can't. He's the world's best spreader now.
Speaker 4Zaki joined by Animo who looks destiny in the face at the 150. Animo takes the lead from Zaki. Alligator blood on Thunderstruck. But it's Animo clear. High Thunderstruck late. Animo holding on. Animo this time for the big A. Fly it from high Thunderstruck. El Bonacide. Wiggs down the middle. Kings will dream of the 100 and getting desperate. Now Wiggs is storming home. Wiggs down at the top. Oh, she's too good. But can't beat her.
Speaker 5G'day listeners and welcome to the Racing Previews Podcast. I know I say we're pumped up every week. But this week we've got a little bit more spring in the step, if you will. No pun intended. Because it is Turnbull Stakes Day. They can't wait. They call it moving day. More lead in the pencil. It's the day. Lead in the pencil. Wow. That's a two units phrase.
Speaker 6You know that? Well, you can scratch that, John. We don't associate with those squibs. That's not true. They're nice people. Oh, look at you backtracking. I didn't know that was Ben. I wasn't part of it. Mr. Switzerland. It's the day you need to get going. You need to get moving.
Speaker 5And you need to be running wild. Because they call this Ben Caluzzi Day. The Grand Finals are in a couple weeks. We've got that Jonathan Brown. Don't cut me off, mate. That's the one. We're on fire today. We're on fire today. We've also got the Epsom Handicap at Randwick. And we've got the Metrop. Got a couple other good races. The Premier, the final Group 2 lead up before the Everest. And in Melbourne, there's plenty, which we'll get into very shortly. Bot, how are you going, mate? All good? I'm well, yeah.
Speaker 7Yeah, no, I'm good.
Speaker 5AFL Grand Final. What a game it was. How did they get beat, Nico?
Speaker 6Well, usually when you want some inspiration. So all I can put this down to was when JL wanted the button to be pressed of. Play it! That's what he wanted. That's what he wanted to inspire the boys onto greatness, because that's what it does when people hear that. It inspires them to do great things. Instead, this button was pressed. Oh, instead they got that. And all hell broke loose. Hell's bells. Hell's bells has been played. Went to hell on Fremantle. And the poor Freo supporters have had their hearts, everything ripped out of their souls.
Speaker 5Four goals in four minutes. When Patrick Voss kicked his goal, that set shot right in front.
Speaker 6The prancing pony drove like the Ferraris do and crashed into the wall and
Speaker 5brought all his mates down with him. The one thing, like, I thought they were home. I think most people did. I don't think a team has ever gone to a dollar or one. I don't think they've ever been three goals up and lost in those final dying minutes in a grand final ever. However, the fact that it was, the fact that it was 17 points rather than like 19 or 20 just made it psychologically. All right. It's three goals needed.
Speaker 6You know what they say, Ben? What? You never look a lion or a tiger in the eye. Is that what they say? And by playing that shit, it's exactly what you did. You don't, you don't poke the bear.
Speaker 5They pissed them off. Well. Will Ashcroft had four clearances in four minutes.
Speaker 6He, I think he could. He could be the one of, he could be the best finals player we've ever seen. Hmm. It's probably him and Dusty right now. His story's not, his story's not finished being written yet.
Speaker 5Yeah. Did you see his story today?
Speaker 6Oh yeah. Well, he needs to get, he needs to get past. He needs to just put his phone back in the phone box and just get back around his teammates and just keep celebrating. He's carrying on a little bit.
Speaker 5He's saying he's, he's all Australian players that hadn't arrived yet.
Speaker 6There's a photo of him with a coat. I saw that.
Speaker 5Yeah. He should have made it all Australian, probably.
Speaker 6Oh, there's no doubt about that, but you know.
Speaker 5Anyway, he's got three flags. His brother's got two and, um, hopefully they're still celebrating long into the night right now. I reckon they're giving it a nudge.
Speaker 7What is it?
Speaker 5What is it called? Fortitude Valley? I think in Brisbane.
Speaker 7Yeah. Fortitude Valley. I've been there before.
Speaker 5They create their own valley.
Speaker 6It's a good, it's a good area. Um, but meanwhile, the Freo boys, oh God. Yeah. We hope that Wolfie time isn't lost. But there's going to be some serious questions asked because I don't think, I don't know how you could ever possibly think.
Speaker 5Now question, which internal, which internal review will take longer? Wolfie time or the selection panel for the Norm Smith medal?
Speaker 6Oh God. There was a bloke drinking a beer. Andrew McLeod. Yeah. They're both questionable.
Speaker 5I know he's in better nick now than he was when he was playing. He's absolutely shredded to the nines. However, you can't be having a beer in your hand if you're voting on Norm Smith. It's not the greatest look anyway.
Speaker 6No. Yeah. I wonder how his stomach was feeling. Hmm. Anyway, I thought if Freo were going to win it. Your man Vossie just dug himself a deep hole trying to say that he did a 5-4-3-2-1 every,
Speaker 5every quarter. Not the Vossie that was playing on the MCG. The one that was in the grandstand watching that used to coach Carlton. Jesus. Like seriously. Anyway. Anyway. What goes on? Anyway. I thought Bolton was actually a really good chance to win it. Like halfway through the fourth when Freo winning. But the game just turned and yeah. And again, the coaches won't say it all. Yeah. He shouldn't have won it. But anyway, we move on. But what happened last week?
Speaker 6Well, Ashcroft and Ben Caluzzi can both count themselves stiff.
Speaker 5What happened last week with the racing results? We saw Jimmy Starr bounce back to form.
Speaker 7Yeah. It was a bounce back to form, but it wasn't the Jimmy Starr that we saw last year that was running 105, 104. Linker's first time. Well, yeah. Yeah. No. Well, good on. They won and, um, he was a 12, like he won over 1200 meters. He'd never won over 1200 meters before. And he's lost once before maybe. So yeah, look at, I mean, end of the day, he, it was a good win. He sustained speed and, and he was really quick. Um, uh, but you know, they were coming back to him and I tell you what kind of rising is going to be coming back to him. So he has a little bit of work to do to, uh, bridge the margin there, but you know, it's not, it's not a vintage Manicato stakes by any means he's running, running a one-on-one point five. And, and now that that's not going to be good enough to get anywhere near the. Was it one of the beast from the east? Yeah. One of the beast from the east, the beast from the east.
Speaker 5Um, yeah. Um, my podcast, multi-selection one, I don't know about yours. I think it got beat. So you've been put on the bench this week, but pride of Jenny, she ran one Oh two. Oh no, no. She ran a hundred point seven. She actually ran, um, well off her form.
Speaker 7Didn't she? I mean, she did all she needed to do that. They actually didn't go too quick. She didn't go as fast.
Speaker 5You could tell that visually she wasn't going as fast as what she has done.
Speaker 7And she's done it previously as well, where she's, you know, because of her reputation, she sort of bluffs them out a little bit. So she got to the 800 meters. They didn't go particularly fast. And then, and then she really, between the thousand and the six, she really ramped it up. And, um, I mean, she was, she was, she was good, much too good for them. But, um, a part of the reason, uh, you know, she won by a length and a half was because, you know, they were giving her a start off a pretty moderate sort of early pace. Like the first 600 meters was even to slow, you know? So, um, yeah, uh, unfortunately, Mr. Brightside didn't show up and, you know, um, you know, I asked the question how much longer he's going to be racing for. And it's, it's really, you know, it puts it into perspective. Like we've, we've sort of had some sort of like a very small, but some sort of involvement in his career over the last sort of four years. And it's, it's been so, so much fun, but, um, I'm going to ask you a question coming to an end, I think it's a difficult question.
Speaker 6He's not good. I'm not going to fucking answer it. I don't even think it's a difficult question to, he's not going to answer it, Ben, sit on the fence.
Speaker 5We want to, we want to, we want, we want, I'm a very objective person. I want to, I want to hear your response. Yeah. Is it disrespectful to Mr. Brightside to be running him in races like the crystal mile? Or do you think it's okay if he's all good? Well and healthy?
Speaker 7Well, it's not disrespectful to him at all. It's just, um, I mean, I, I.
Speaker 6He's a group one horse running in a group two race.
Speaker 7Yeah. That's disrespectful. It's not disrespectful. It's it's. Would you, if he was yours, do you
Speaker 5reckon you would hang up the boots? Yeah. Or continue to run him in average races?
Speaker 7I mean, if he was mine and you know, obviously I don't own him, but. So what happens if he goes through crystal mile, runs fifth or sixth? Well, then they'll retire him and that's fine. And you know, the only difference is one run. So it doesn't like, who really cares. But, um, yeah, I mean, if he was mine, I'd, and it was solely my decision, I'd say, would well done you've done your job that's two runs
Speaker 6in a row that he's been well beaten comprehensively
Speaker 7yeah but he was second in the mems yeah he was he was decent they've been completely entitled to have a crack because he's it's not like he's been um you know the the writing wasn't on the wall first up he was excellent in the mems he just um hasn't produced it in two runs since so um they'll regroup and and hopefully they'll be looking for a wet track but you know i mean uh do i think he can win a race again probably not and quick
Speaker 5quick word on any of the other beaten brigade and i treasure the moment is flashed home for second yeah is she somewhat back or was that just a
Speaker 7little bit for gazey oh i mean she's thinking for gazey oh she's just sort of run to her form she's no better than what she was last preparation where she's you know she won the sunline stakes she was um third in the futurity like she's she's that sort of horse like she can she's not going to run places in those sort of um 1400 meter races um i think the caulfield cup's the aim with her isn't it yeah she won't she won't stay i know she won two oaks but um they were both awfully slowly run and um the second one especially she uh fell in against some horses that you wouldn't look out of place in a 58 edward donga so um yeah look i mean i i don't think she can win a race this preparation because they can aim up with
Speaker 5her but you know whatever um i ended up having something small on jimmy star thank goodness i did a good job of getting jimmy star on jimmy star
Speaker 7i'm not gonna say that um yeah i don't know what
Speaker 5price he was with bet365 but it was probably six dollars
Speaker 7something yeah five dollars ninety with tom haylock is what you wanted to say yes um any other notable performances
Speaker 5on sunday even
Speaker 7saturday
Speaker 5i think pretty baby was beaten by regal ambition do you think that was a big win for regal ambition yeah i think that was a big win for regal ambition yeah i think that was a big win for regal ambition yeah i think that was a big win for regal ambition regal ambition
Speaker 7regal ambition a better horse yeah i think oh a better a better horse yeah i think oh a better a better horse yeah i think oh a better horse maybe but she's i think she's best horse maybe but she's i think she's best horse maybe but she's i think she's best placed you know i'm jumping ship but this placed you know i'm jumping ship but this placed you know i'm jumping ship but this she's um she's really good she's really she's um she's really good she's really she's um she's really good she's really really good anything to say about pretty
Speaker 5really good anything to say about pretty really good anything to say about pretty baby maybe soft track winter wet tracker baby maybe soft track winter wet tracker
Speaker 7baby maybe soft track winter wet tracker no that's what i mean well you can i just I just think that's such a dumb thing to do is just pigeonhole. Not pigeonhole, but like her big pig. Wet tracker off one run. She wasn't even that far off her form. She was, she just like.
Speaker 5No, but even her Adelaide form, there was lots of it on. Yeah, I know.
Speaker 7Brain affected. I mean, that, that's just, it's just one run. She might come back and run really well on a good track next time.
Speaker 6We'll see. I think she's a winter wet tracker.
Speaker 7It could be, but yeah. I mean, Regal Ambition's the right favorite for the Guineas. She was awesome. And honestly, like, I might sound crazy. I'd love to see her in a Cox Plate.
Speaker 5But who's going to ride 47 kilos? Get Dean Yandel out. Get Dean Yandel. Even Dean. There's a
Speaker 6couple of, there's a couple of three-year-olds that deserve their spot. If they continue to go on the progression that they're going on. And she is certainly not one of them.
Speaker 7Yep. I think she is. She'd be fun in it. Over the bridge, got the job done.
Speaker 5She'd be flat out racing the fucking ambulance. This is, what's the new syndicate called again? The Kieran Maher syndicate?
Speaker 7Oh, I don't know. Who cares? Remember what it's called?
Speaker 5Over the bridge. Yeah. It's called, um.
Speaker 6Oh. I can't even think of it. It's his, it's his micro share syndication.
Speaker 7Whatever it's. No, I don't know. Anyway, she was excellent.
Speaker 6It's not go racing. It's called, um.
Speaker 7Something else. Yeah. She was awesome. She ran to a figure of 96.6 to beat I.M.R.A. That race was so heavily on pace. The first four and run finished first, second, third, and fifth. Um, yeah. I mean, she, she, she was off a really, really good bending go made and she went on with it. She's going to be better over a mile in time, I think. And I, I don't know what the plan with her is at all. Um, I mean, if they go to the Corfu out of the thousand guineas, that'd be really interesting 12, cause you know, Kieran Maher is very capable of, of these sort of weird, um, unconventional, uh, preparation. So I wouldn't, I honestly, it wouldn't, it wouldn't surprise me to, I wouldn't surprise.
Speaker 5They might just take it easy though, given it is a first camp.
Speaker 7Yeah. I mean, I I'd love, I'd love them to, um, run her in the Corfu guineas and I could thousand guineas just to make the race a little bit more interesting because, uh, lots of, lots of people would be, um, very interested in that. Unbridled racing, you know, that's what it's called.
Speaker 5Hmm. Um, is that it for a diameter and something's burning, burning a hole
Speaker 6in everyone's pocket. Oh God. It was home.
Speaker 7That's these, these are probably the C graders for a Corfu guineas. Oh, they've got no chance, but oh my God. Something's burning was home. How to get beat. J Mac. That's how I would have been a tragedy. But Russian rock will be a great chance in the vase.
Speaker 5Uh, changing colors got the job done yet again. She's just having a wonderful campaign.
Speaker 7Could not believe the support for SAS appeal.
Speaker 6Well, I couldn't, I couldn't, I couldn't, but I couldn't in the same.
Speaker 5By this stage of the track was actually playing.
Speaker 7Okay. Yeah. I mean, but you're
Speaker 6always a possibility. It's a copper Blake shin ride on this mail. It is absolutely flying
Speaker 5a good one or a bad one. You're saying, well, a Blake shin special or a Blake shin slaughter,
Speaker 6not a knife job, like a special as in like someone's back to something that's burning a couple of times. What do you mean?
Speaker 7Oh, Blake shin special. He's carved it up back.
Speaker 6Changing colors as well. But, um, yeah, this was always a possibility that you were going to get Blake having a ride that was going to be, you know, he was going to be close enough to strike and he's a, he's a very good jockey at doing that.
Speaker 5SAS appeal is very overrated to start $2 20 here. I was just insanity. She had her birthday first up.
Speaker 7I think it was just map inspired.
Speaker 5That's all it was. All it was. Yeah. Yeah. And she had the 58 as well. Uh, the performance of the weekend, no doubt has to be the golden Rose with war woven. What do you run with form King 1 0 4 0.6. Um, it's not quite as big as Bay back in the same race last year, but he sat, he sat near enough to a fast tempo. Yes. He had every chance in the run, but in that box site, but once he got out, Rachel King couldn't really hold him. And he just absolutely monster than put three on them. Is it going to be hard for them to turn the tables? I don't know if it's going to be hard for them to turn the tables, but I think it's going
Speaker 7to be hard for them to turn the tables.
Speaker 5I don't know if it's going to be hard for them to turn the tables, but I don't know if it's going to be hard for them to turn the tables.
Speaker 6I'll be back in Trombolt to beat him. I reckon he's had, I reckon he's at his, he's looking for further.
Speaker 5He's definitely looking for further Trombolt. Yeah. Yeah. He might be looking for 2000 already.
Speaker 6I don't know how much more Warwoven has improvement in him, if he doesn't have anything left to improve.
Speaker 5He's got to, he's got to regress off this, doesn't he, Will?
Speaker 7He's more likely to, because this was a very well-managed ride and everything sort of turned out perfectly for him in the run. They went really fast time and.
Speaker 6I'm happy to back Trombolt at about $8, because Warwoven's going to be very well bet. Yeah. Well, he's going to have a.
Speaker 7He's going to be 250 sub of. He's going to have a massive ratings edge over the non-core for Guinea's day, but. Um, on, on the day, like, you know, he, he might not necessarily repeat that number. If he does, I think he's probably core for Guinea's winner. Did you see what.
Speaker 5There's no way they can beat him if he does. Did you see what James Jordan said? Well, they could. What? James, who? James Jordan. What did he say? Oh, Cox Plate.
Speaker 6Niren basically said that he, if he holds that rating, he'll win the core for Guinea's and he would nearly have him favorite and winning the Cox Plate.
Speaker 5It's probably not the biggest stretch I've ever heard though, because it's like. Look. Oh. I would still have Sir Delia's favorite, but these three-year-olds, they start short in a Cox Plate because of 49 kilos. Yeah. Well, I mean. Any horse who wins a core for Guinea's is going to start $10 in a Cox Plate. Or shorter. Shorter.
Speaker 6It just doesn't feel right.
Speaker 7I don't know. Will he stay? Mile and a quarter? He doesn't, he doesn't scream to me that he's a, uh. We've got, we had a bit of a
Speaker 5disgruntled listener who sent something in about you saying he might not stay 1400.
Speaker 6Well, you said last week that he wouldn't stay 1400. So. Who's that? Are you going to backflip? You said Warwever wouldn't stay. He didn't want to stay 1400 last week.
Speaker 5Did I? Oh, I don't know. We'll get to that question later. Don't you worry.
Speaker 7Hmm. Well, he did. I was wrong.
Speaker 5I was wrong as well. I, I, I, we didn't, I listened back to the podcast. We barely spoke about Warwever. He's come out and shit it in.
Speaker 6Yeah. Ah. And to think that he's had two impressive wins this preparation and. You win some, you lose more punters. We gave him no respect. This shows your intent. Who did he use that first after Warwever? Might have been a different story.
Speaker 5He beat, um, who was the horse that was coming down the outside against Warwever last time? St. Goddard. St. Goddard. Yeah. We didn't even mention Warwever. Yeah. In the preview.
Speaker 6They just, they used first up as a barrier trial with no intent. Sneak out the back. We probably should have. And then they've gone bang, bang.
Speaker 5Um, the right. Unbelievable stuff. By J-Mac on St. Goddard. Very aggressive to try and put Zach Lloyd back in a box on guest house.
Speaker 7Did he get time for that?
Speaker 5He got, he got reprimanded. So he got a verbal warning. Oh, I think there's
Speaker 6as much slap on the wrist. You can't suspend J-Mac.
Speaker 5There's as much to say for both of them, to be fair. I don't think it helped either horse. Like getting into a bumping duel on a fast tempo.
Speaker 6So I don't think J-Mac's not just going to let his main danger just fucking dictate. Well, I saw, I saw the,
Speaker 7I saw the footage and, um, guest house got on heels and he, the horse overreacted, went, pushed him outside. Yeah. And then J-Mac. So it wasn't Zach Lloyd's fault at all, but J-Mac got pushed out and fucking went bang.
Speaker 5Yeah. And then he went for, went in for one more.
Speaker 7Yeah. So it was, I mean, I was Zach Lloyd and I think that was all J-Mac just being a, I don't know. It was very, it was like
Speaker 5ultra competitive riding. Yeah. It was a group one
Speaker 7race stallion making. So I was hoping they'd been competitive. But that's just dumb though. Isn't it? Like you're riding a very expensive colt and you're on the, one of the favorites. So I'm just going to let him in. And you just ride your own horse. Bumping him like the cunt. It can't be good for your horse bumping mid-race.
Speaker 5I think you can forgive both horses for their finishing position in the race.
Speaker 7For sure, for sure.
Speaker 5You're probably not going to agree with me here, Nico. I still think Guesthouse will get an Everest slot, and I still think he will run really well back to 1,200 on a very fast tempo.
Speaker 6I'll be very surprised if Guesthouse goes to the Coolmore. Why? Because St. Gothard is also owned by Coolmore, and I think St. Gothard's race will be the Coolmore to make him a stallion. They've already got one. He's going straight there. And I think Guesthouse will have his heart broken in the Everest, and there won't be a horse left to go to a Coolmore. That's what I personally think.
Speaker 5I still think he's the three-year-old most likely to run a good race in the Everest.
Speaker 6I can't see Guesthouse going to a Coolmore. What? That's a big call.
Speaker 7That doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 6Why would Coolmore want another horse that they've already got a stallion career for going up against a horse that they're trying to make a stallion? Because cash. Cash is king. No, they never do it. Yeah, they do it all the time. They always split them.
Speaker 5Two more good performances. Lazura ran 99.3. She was absolutely smashed. She started close to $1.75, fixed odds, 1,400 metres second up. She just looked the good thing of the day in Sydney. And Blue Door, we said maybe she's a little bit squibby, but she was squibby and she did it well. She was very fast. Now she's going to have her heart broken. She ran 100.5 in the weight fridge ratings, and she's going to an Everest.
Speaker 7That's crazy. I mean, it's not crazy. But, um, wow. It's, it's aggressive. Yeah. I thought the, um.
Speaker 5It's, it's honestly good for Kay Ingrising. Cause if she goes and leads and sets a really good tempo.
Speaker 7I would have thought the, uh, the, the red roses would be a good race.
Speaker 5Yeah. Well, John Singleton has part own in her, um, he's got the slot, doesn't he? Yeah. Singo's in a slot. And isn't that his colours?
Speaker 7Yes. They're Singo's colours. I like Jerry. I know that you're right. It is. It's Singo. Yeah. Anyway. Anyway.
Speaker 5Skyhook was also very good.
Speaker 6The horse that'll win the red roses debuted today at Ballarat. In the first. What was her name? Erect. Oh yeah, it was too. Oh. Wild names. Aroused. Aroused. Aroused. Close. Same. Aroused. Erect. Same thing. Oh boy. Oh boy. Same thing. Same thing. I was thinking of the Cadulthan horse. Do I make you on here, bro?
Speaker 5Jono, Jono's on fire. He's the best in the business. He's on fire. Jesus. I'm like erect. Surely it wasn't erect. This is a filly. Aroused. Um, I think the boys were saying, sending in erect when she won. Maybe that's why we've got confused there. Skyhook was very good. He let it, let on a slow tempo. He's ran 101.2. He's just a horse. He's in sizzling form. He's come back even better, this preparation. Um, and Private Eye, I think, I think we've seen the best of Private Eye. He tailed off for third, but it was a distant, long beaten third. All right, let's get into the races, uh, this weekend, shall we? And we're going to start where we always start and that is Flemington. And oh my goodness. I don't think I've ever seen a forecast this ominous at this time of year at Flemington. Um, we go to the BOM. There's a, just a trickling of rain tonight, even though it's a beautiful night in Melbourne, 23 degrees tonight. Tomorrow, 100% chance of 15 to 35 millimeters. When you get a forecast like that, that means it's, it's not missing. We are definitely getting rain. Just how much is probably the question mark on Friday, a 95% chance of 10 to 35 mils. And on Saturday, this is where they're going very each way, a 90% chance of two to 20. So if you sort of just go Thursday, we might get a chance of 10 to 35 mils. Thursday, we might get 15 to 20. Friday, we might get 10 to 15 and Saturday we might get five. Let's just say you sort of work off that sort of range. We're probably going to be playing on at least a soft seven heavy eight track bot. Would you say?
Speaker 7Yeah, it could be, it could be messy. It could, it could be worse. It could be, but I always remember the, um, 2018 Melbourne cup day where I was arriving on course. Um, and there was at the front. There was a, there was a car half submerged by a flash flood. And then by the, by the end of it, we're racing on a soft five. That's how good Flemington is. But that was, um, what's that eight, eight years ago. So I remember that day. Yeah. I've got a photo of it actually. Um, I took a photo. It's, it's very funny. Um, but yeah, um, it could be, uh, an interesting day of racing and, um, it really depends on how much rain we get, especially on race day.
Speaker 5Yeah. So keep an eye on all your sort of weather apps. Um, lots of people like weather zone. I just look at the bomb. Yeah. So, um, Willie weather, it's changing Willie with, uh, it's changing by the hour pretty much, but the latest update was it got worse and Sydney got a little bit better. So that's just something to, to sort of keep an eye out for. If you're having early bets, um, we could be looking at wet trackers on Saturday. Who knows race number two here at Flemington. We are recording this on a Wednesday night, so it's still up in the air. Rail is out nine meters benchmark, 78 over 1200 meters. And I will say it's our 25% winnings plus Bruce this Saturday at bet three, six, five, uh, Flemington and Randwick race number two, benchmark 78 over 1200 meters. Cabriole, our $4, 80 favorite from as Molly, six 50, the Balmont gangster, $7, Hanky alpha $7, 50, I believe was scratched at the gates at Mornington last week. Probably would have been a good opportunity to potentially get over Concord. Connie charming, Nick, $8. He's here in the studio with us. Don't fucking bring that up. And cream. Christine also was meant to run in that Concord Connie race. He's $12. Fucking jet Stanley. He's not getting a Christmas car.
Speaker 6This from Nick. I can guarantee you.
Speaker 7I like cabriole in this race. So I backed it up last start at Caulfield over a thousand meters. And I do not think he's a thousand meter horse. Uh, he's a very well bred horse. It's long row out of flit. Um, yeah, knuckled on, uh, uh, beginning, uh, Caulfield last start and managed to roll across to the lead. And, and did enough to win. I just think there's so much improvement left in this horse. It was heavily backed, uh, backed in that day to a Caulfield where, uh, it was very wet there as well. And that was the day where they were coming down the outside fence at Caulfield. Uh, so, you know, that's his only attempt on a heavy track and it didn't quite go to plan, which is maybe a little bit worrying, but you know, it's only one data point you got to work with. And it was a day that was, uh, um, less than a conventional. So, uh, cabriole. He is, is one of my better bets on the day and, um, Mark Zara rides from a good draw. I think he'll roll forward. And, um, yeah, there's a really good opportunity for him to, to improve. And, um, I marked him $3, 80 and, and I'm pretty keen on him.
Speaker 5Beautiful. I might just take this $5, 50 bet boost on offer right now. Then, um, getting out to 1200 meters. Yeah. He does look like he'll improve. Can I just say long row? And so you think rest in peace to the champ, obviously two sires that you look at their progeny and you can just. That they're a long row or so you think they were just a striking resemblance that I've found. Definitely. So you think, yeah, definitely. So you think a little bit long row as well. Uh, race number three, we didn't have any official bets, but I think La Polo is the current Darby favorite. Jaws barrier one. Any concerns there?
Speaker 7Will? Yes. A lot of, a lot of concerns. Big striding horse. Doesn't have plenty of gate speed. Uh, we'll be back toward the fence. And obviously there's a young staying horses. They're not going to quicken on a dime. So, uh, needs to build momentum. It's a little bit of a worry for me and I definitely couldn't take the price. And even as Darby favorite, look, I know he won really well last time, but, uh, I'd be looking elsewhere. Uh, but he could obviously he's still an excellent chance in the Darby and, um, and all that sort of stuff. Uh, true rebels, uh, one, two really nice races. Um, he's a nice horse. Interesting. These. Uh, you know, he's obviously going to stay, he strides, I could stay out, like you'll say all day, but he's by rebel Dane, uh, from a sprinting family. Um, rebel Dane, that horse
Speaker 5still gives me nightmares. It, it won a Manicato and knocked me off.
Speaker 7Um, miss YTD is one that I'm, um, I'm probably gonna back it's, uh, run really nice spritz from a much too far back. And, uh, yeah, it's, it's drawn well enough to, to get a reasonable run. Also. I'm probably gonna have something on Moretto who, um, has a stable change was with, uh, Kumani now it's with Clinton McDonald jumped out nicely. And there's one more, which one did I have like, um, I think that might be it actually.
Speaker 5Sweet moving to race four, the Edward manifold group, two, three-year-old fillies, always a great pointer towards maybe thousand Guinness, maybe even the wakeful and the Oaks. And we've got $5 a field here. Proffigate has been a bit of a drifter today, $4 40 out to $5 from six. Saintly dancer, $6 Portenari draws really wide here. $6 50 again, stipulation has been 10 into $7 50, good bit of support there. And to Lager Bay is 19 into 13. So also a bit of love for that runner. Um, Nico, what have, what have you found here?
Speaker 6I've got a few roughies in this race. I've, I thought it was an easy race to go looking for a bit outside the obvious. Cause I think it's a bit of a, it's a fairly even sort of race. Anyways, so. I've narrowed it down to my on-top selection is number nine, Beautiful You. Horse from the Annabelle and Rob Archibald camp. It's a horse that I've been following closely. I backed it two starts ago and it won very dominantly. And then obviously backed it up again last time, winning at a good quote. So it's a horse that's very progressive. I think the step to the mile will be no issue for this horse. Daughter of Hello Yimzane, who's a sire that I've got a lot of time for. I think it's a good young sire, obviously standing over in New Zealand. So yeah, I like the step to the mile for Hello, for Beautiful You. I thought other horses that I'd give a chance to are La Beretta, a horse that obviously won't mind the cut out of the track. That's obviously something for Beautiful You. It's had two starts on the soft going and it's handled it. There's inevitably rain, which the forecast suggests that it will. It's going to be no issue. I think La Beretta will get through it. It was a good dominant confidence boosting win for it last time. The step to the mile is going to be no issue for it. And the other horse that I went looking for, I can't really work out why this horse is near on $41 at some places, is number four, Salon. This is a horse that will handle a wet track. It was good last preparation. Obviously, a lot didn't go right for it. Dressed up at Bendigo, but that comes out of a good race. That's Zambale's race. There's been plenty of form out of. It's not a 1,300-meter horse. The step up in trip is going to be good. This is a horse that's going to get out close to 2,000 meters, I would have thought, in time. Nice, you know, got to the mile relatively quickly. Last preparation, obviously, just got beaten by a diameter. That's good form. It's got the good form behind Satona Glow. Like, it's a horse that's got a lot of good form. You can easily forecast that some progressions, going to happen for this horse, and you can mark this horse a lot, lot shorter than what it currently is. So, from an unfashionable stable, you're getting a price, and I think it's a horse that will handle the ground, will love the steps of the mile, and, yeah, it's my best value of the day. So, I think it's a stupid price, and it's a race that I thought there was some good value in. So, I'm keen to have a bid on those three. Nothing over the top, because. It's a fairly even race, but the three that I've settled on, three that I could mark a lot shorter than the market, and I'm happy to get involved in.
Speaker 5Beautiful. Nothing there for me, I don't think, Will, but I can't knock Nick over for trying a $41 chance.
Speaker 7You? No, stipulation was a little bit interesting. It's been heavily supported since markets opened, but, yeah, stipulation, I could have something on.
Speaker 5All right, race five.
Speaker 6The horse that I liked in that race is Ocean's 407, but I don't think it'll like a wet track, so I wouldn't be surprised. I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out. Yeah, okay. Wizard Ride's number 15. Obviously, it was a horse that won by six. You want to have four bets, do you? No, I won't. I won't, because I don't think it'll run, and I don't think it'll like soft ground if it does run, but it did win by six last time at Swan Hill, and it comes out of that same form reference as Salon at that San Barlo's race.
Speaker 5That's the Benny special, having four bets in a race all in the futures. Race five is the Kingston, the Rose of Kingston. Group two for the four-year-old plus mare, so to differentiate. Please fuck that word up. You do actually have notes on that one. I don't know why I keep trying. Differentiate. Differentiate. Differentiate. She ate. There we go. This is for the four-year-old plus mares. Obviously, the last one was for the three-year-old fillies, and they like to, you know, separate these pools of horses. Gold Coast Bell is our $3.40 favourite, in from $4. That is due to. Thanks to you. That is due to Nico and I having a bet, and me seeing it out. So, my subs. So, I would say that's not actually a true price. She's $3.80 everywhere else. But if you do want to get the early grouse, you can. Sign up to the six-day. I haven't given myself a plug in a little while, and we've had a winning month. So, we've taken $4 for Gold Coast Bell here. He's allowed a plug, but he's back in the winter. Tennessee Bound is $6. I haven't done it in a while, to be fair. On display, $8.50. A bounding $13 in from $17, and Stylish is also $13. I really think Gold Coast Bell can bounce back here at a nice. Nice price. She SP'd $2.10 last start off the back of a dominant first-up win. And I think you can just partly put it down to the fact that she was on a really wet track first up, and then she went to the dry. Look, she was a little bit disappointed there, beaten by Pondolaoui, and on display in Cove. However, she was only beaten just under two lengths. She gets Mark Zara on board. She's going to go forward and control this race from barrier 10. And some of her better performances have come on Rain Effect, which she gets back to. So I think going down the page, Tennessee Bound is just too short. On display, she's drawn awful. A bounding's not a heavy tracker. Like, Stylish is drawn awful as well. You go down the page, and you can poke holes in more of this field than not, Nico.
Speaker 6Yeah, it was obviously something that we spoke about at dinner tonight, and I just sort of brought it to your attention that it's just a race that Gold Coast Bell, on a day that it's very hard to sit here and forecast a lot of bets, and a lot of confidence to our listeners. But this is a race that I thought, you don't have to be too smart to go and find Gold Coast Bell. There was excuses, clear excuses last time. And when you pick apart the race as we like to do, and coerce opinions and ideas with each other, I think it's a race that, you know, we've got a question mark on Tennessee Bound at 1,400 metres on display. I hate seeing the winning post. She's honest. She runs well, but she doesn't like exactly winning.
Speaker 5Hear Mick Price reference Wharfie time? About on display, going too early last time.
Speaker 6Oh, well, I don't know if I necessarily agree with that. I just don't think she likes winning. But anyway. Yeah, do you go through this race? There's a lot of horses here that, if they run to their best, they're either not good enough or they're not going to probably enjoy the conditions that they're lucky enough to be in. They're likely to face. So I think Gold Coast Belle is the best horse in this race. You don't have to be too smart to forecast that Gold Coast Belle can return back to her best. Back in favour, I think the conditions ideally suit her. She's a horse that loves getting her toe in. I like the booking of Mark Zara. This horse is one for one with him on it. No, nothing against Geordie last time. It was just a fact of circumstance. But Mark Zara is one of the best jockeys in the country. And especially when the money's on. And that's this time of year. So he's absolutely airborne at the moment. So that can't be a negative. This horse can easily bounce back. And at $4 or north of, just be patient. I think the horse will get back out near that quote. You can have a bet if you're not already on already. And yeah, I think it's an easy bet to have on a day that looks relatively tricky. She looks one of the better winning bets, I thought.
Speaker 5I agree. No moral, but just a bet at the price. Well, it's an easy bet to have, especially if you're on last time. Do you concur anything?
Speaker 7Nah, it's, I have it much longer than that. I, I, I, the race is impossible. I thought Ollo Dancer was a huge price.
Speaker 5That's, that's the other one we were talking about. We were saying she's finally getting out to her trip.
Speaker 61400. The railway campaign is still on, on, on its, on its merits.
Speaker 7Yeah. Well, she was just never, ever, ever going to be competitive in the Moyer. And then even last time, how now she was okay, but they were just too quick for her. And now she's gets out to 1400 meters and she's starting to get out to a, a trip that she's actually going to be competitive in. And she's 40 to one against much slower horses. So, um, she's, I mean, just don't think just bet.
Speaker 5She's got to carry the penalty. She's got the top weight.
Speaker 759. Well, she's more than capable of doing that. She's a thousand. I mean, I don't think she's very good as a thousand guineas. When it was a terrible thousand guineas, but even still, um, too big at the price.
Speaker 5I can't believe we didn't mention her. We were talking about her as well. $41 is the top price out there.
Speaker 6You've got to tell everyone everything all the time, Ben.
Speaker 5You've got to have something on.
Speaker 6Keep things to yourself.
Speaker 5I think we've got to have a small bet on this horse before we post the podcast. Sorry, bonus race. Number six is the Dane Hill stakes group to 1100 meters. And this will really shape the cool more market going forward. Cause it is for our three-year-old sprinters. And one of those is natural fling who has been mixing it with, um, with some of our better wait for age sprinters, $2 60. She ran third and started favorite in the Moira from the next episode, $4 20. The last time they met the next episode gave her an absolute telling. Has she come back better? We'll find out over excited is $4 80. She was sound last time and boob a $9 and big sky is $11. Also worth mentioning pocket full of cashew jumped out like a rocket alongside natural fling recently as well. But what do you make of this? I know you've marked natural fling much longer than the $2 60 currently on offer.
Speaker 7Yeah. I'm not saying that. She's you know, not, I mean, I don't, I don't think she'll regress or anything at all. I, I think she'll improve out to 1100 meters. I just think the next episode is like really, really good. And, um, obviously he hasn't, he hasn't run a massive rating yet, but I think he's more than capable of doing so. And he's, uh, yeah, I, I, I marked him favorite and, um, I'm going to be backing him, backing him pretty strongly. And I'm going to have something on pocket full of cash, who is also a really nice horse run really fast time at packing them on the synthetic, you know, it's still, it's synthetic. but do I, just goes about he's a he's a nice horse hasn't had the chance to do it yet um jumped out really nicely alongside natural fling as well so yeah i'm backing those two in the next episode i think i think he's uh a cool more sort of you know he'll be in the cool more be really competitive and we were all sort of well you were worried about his trials and his first
Speaker 5few weren't that great
Speaker 7his first few and then yeah you know i had a look and that it wasn't um entirely convincing but you know obviously um what's more important is he's very very fast we've seen on the racetrack and then he went out and um matched jimmy star uh yeah that third
Speaker 5jump out was a ripper
Speaker 7well that was you know i'm not one to get up and about about trials but my god he looked good and um you know carrying mark zara who i would assume he's heavier than ethan brown a couple killers yeah yeah and ethan brown was riding jimmy star and you know the on level weights if not next episodes heavy riding heavier and he's matching jimmy star over the last sort of 400 meters well i mean how much can you read into that probably not much but it's a little nice little
Speaker 5extra the last jump out down the straight was yeah he was just there for a
Speaker 7look at straight i assume
Speaker 5it probably wasn't as impressive but still what did you make of overexcited she did get beat by a pretty nice philly in saturno glow last time did you
Speaker 7yeah did she run up to
Speaker 5expectation still yeah she
Speaker 7pretty much ran to the number i thought she would have just got beaten by a really smart one um she can run really well i don't know if she's not going to be able to do it if she's going to be able to do it i don't know i don't know if she's going to be able to do it if she's not going to be able to do it i don't know i actually don't mind alibaba in
Speaker 5the race really
Speaker 7well the old vape well you know i i just think he's one that's going to improve at three and um jumped out really nicely craig knew it was um his uh his uh biceps would be quite sore after that hundred to one yeah no i'll just have something small on your mind well if if the top couple
Speaker 6real make a hero top well
Speaker 7if the top couple just don't your voice sounds like you've had you've had a lot of fun i've had a lot of fun i've had a lot of fun to be fair what are
Speaker 5you are you uh i've been crook you're a california sunset a strawberry chop chop type of guy strawberry
Speaker 6chopper chub is a good good drop from alibaba it's the goat i haven't had a vape in about six months wow i wish i could say the same we know you love your puff puff pass all right
Speaker 5yeah next episode the next episode alibaba dr dray as stew likes to call him pocket full of cash um 51 in the coolmore pocket full of cash is that is that worth a little spec probably not you can always take the double and you'll get a fair bit better you could just take 20s you could um i'll see just idling up
Speaker 6on by i've taken
Speaker 5um yeah this is the day this was her first turn ball yeah it was and magical and skyfire got beat 27 lengths out the back they almost dead heated for last look at this run how did humidor almost
Speaker 7beat her in a
Speaker 5cock's plate a
Speaker 7is that when chris waller had him or um darren weir oh i reckon darren
Speaker 5weir still had him you'll find out in a minute maybe that's why oh come on or was it just the blinkers going on on cock's plate no ben who knows who knows ben back to the race just some blinkers back to the race darren will be listening and
Speaker 6he'll just be waiting to smack you in the mouth
Speaker 5uh the next episode i've had something on at six bucks all in very very tidy price look he's only first up which could make a wet track interesting if he's not quite at the level yet but he has had four jump out slash trials to be ready for this because they weren't happy with the first few and he does have a win on on wet going he also has a big win over natural fling so despite natural fling coming back and running a few ratings that surpass what the next episode did last preparation she's had the opportunity to do so up in grade and he hasn't yet so i think they should be a little bit tighter i wouldn't be surprised if natural fling was too good but the next episode at the price was my bet okay
Speaker 6um as much as it pains me to say i think the next episode probably deserves to be favored on what we're likely to see condition wise on the weekend i think natural fling well i know natural fling doesn't like it wet they're gonna run regardless um which i don't love but anyway that is not my decision um the next episode deserves to be favored if he runs up to his form from last preparation and his last trial if it's the horse that we saw from the first two trials he won't be winning um so you just gotta hope that he's just being a lazy cult who's full of himself because he knows he's a bit special and um doesn't exactly have to try a bit like you sometimes if we're training bend you just lope around because you know you're in a bit sometimes you don't have to just give your all let's hope the next episode was doing a bit of that sort of mr b
Speaker 5mr b type errors i missed that
Speaker 7i'm not paying attention
Speaker 5no he never jumps out or trials well he's not a he's not a training track
Speaker 6sort of horse um anyway i think the next episode on what we're likely to be is a heavy track or close to that's probably my little query about him first up heavy track screwed right up down and i've still got a bit of a cloud over if he's really hashtag back um but i think he deserves to be favorite because i just i think you can really lower natural flings chances and winning probability with the surface that we're going to get um she just doesn't like that so full disclosure it's a shame that we're going to get the conditions that we are at because if had we got a good four i would have been pretty keen to be with natural fling and i would have been pretty keen to say that she's improved this preparation the next episode what have you got but i just i just don't see uh i just don't see the race panning out that way so it's getting desperate it hurts it hurts me to say that because natural fling has been a good horse to me but you're a tip with your head not your heart and i think the next episode deserves to be favorite with what we're likely going to get on saturday so this is the next episode for me winx's second
Speaker 5it's in our podcast intro it's one of maddie hill's great calls full disclosure i probably will have a saver on natural fling i'm going to have a saver on natural fling i'm going to have a
Speaker 6soft six or better i will have something on natural fling as a saver hopefully we get a little bit better than 2.60 but yeah
Speaker 5i think you will i don't think i want to be losing on the race i want to get my stake back for the next episode if she is to win the race she wants a
Speaker 6soft six or better so it's going to be interesting to see what
Speaker 5what happens anyway it's going to be a cracker race because you've got the breeding here it's just phenomenal natural fling by home affairs out of the natural and the next episode schnitzel hummer hummer 1.7 mil overexcited 2.7 mil what is it 2.7 i thought it was 1.7 no overexcited zoo star out of this is out of there's just so obviously you
Speaker 6boys remember we're at warnable so charlie and the the half yours crew a lot of the natural fling actual owners already have got the next episode's half brother because they only paid 600 000 work that out scanned clear i'm invincible cult went for 600 when the next episode's going for 2.7 so that's that's probably some caveat if they do get beaten by the natural fling they're hoping that it's by uh the next episode the first leg of the
Speaker 5quaddie at flemington is race seven it is the bart cummings 2520 meters with the rail out you win this you are into the lexus melbourne cup no other and our favorite here is athelwolf the race
Speaker 6that stops some people's
Speaker 5nations two dollars sixty in from two dollars eighty in favorite from juja kibo six dollars down from sydney jennifer moose is eight dollars wooden verney 12 into nine we've linked john also nine dollars lit steel getting out to a trip she loves is 11 and piggyback has been 17 into 13 bit of support even for sulcum 23 into into uh 17 now the big asterix on this race is that athelwolf they don't want a really wet track for so there's a big chance they want to this is the preference to get into the melbourne cup nico but there's a big chance he won't be
Speaker 6coming no unfortunately the way that it looks but i think he'll still get in the
Speaker 5melbourne cup yeah
Speaker 6i agree
Speaker 5because i think he's a very good chance in the metro we'll get to that very soon but but it's hard to sort of preview this race on a wednesday night when the favorite is no certainty to be running
Speaker 7yeah um they have it in their mind that he's uh not adept on wet tracks so i'll go to sydney where they're expecting a lot less rain so that makes that makes sense um can't blame them for it but i mean honestly i think it makes the race a little bit more interesting from a betting perspective because uh i'm not entirely sure what to do with him really i marked him three bucks uh juja kibo next best and uh it when and if he comes out i'm going to be keen to back juja kibo good rating behind the
Speaker 5euphrates yeah yeah third
Speaker 7up into this race he sort of always promised to to put down a number and i just think he's really well placed to um to hit a number here that uh that puts him into um puts him in really well yeah i marked him about 70 about that price i really i'm probably gonna back berkeley square barclay square just because it's fun just because you know you get like where's he drawn nine yeah he always misses the start about five but you know he
Speaker 5loves a wet track just
Speaker 7you know sometimes it's just fun having pretty bad bets on just horses that you love and um i marked him 20 bucks so if you admit it's not even a bad bet so but he could miss it by five and have none so so i actually i actually saw i actually Olcom was really good last starting could be, um, warming up to do something, but I probably just think it's next time. I think the Queen Elizabeth Cup on Derby Day. I think it's Derby Day or Stakes Day. It might be Stakes Day.
Speaker 6You're an ambitious lad, aren't you?
Speaker 7Yeah, I am.
Speaker 6You like to sell it to yourself.
Speaker 7Yeah, yeah. Sulkum will win the Queen Elizabeth Cup on Stakes Day, and this will be a nice little tick over before that. But, yeah, I'm going to back Juja Kibo and probably Barclays Square because it's fun.
Speaker 5Beautiful. Because it's fun. I probably won't be betting this race if that fourth doesn't come. Look, as we said, we're recording on a Wednesday night. He could be coming to Melbourne. We don't know for sure, but the camp have come out and said they don't want a wet track, and that's probably what we're going to get on Saturday. We move on to the day's feature, and it's an absolute belter of a race. It is the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes Set Weights and Penalties. That's worth noting, punters. A lot of people think the Turnbull is a wait-for-age race. It is not. It is run under set weights and penalties conditions, which means the best males who have won a Group 1 in recent times get the full 59, and the good mares who have won a big race in recent times get a 57. And if you've only won a Group 2, you have 58 as a boy, and so on and so forth. It goes down the order. Some of the boys who haven't won a big race are down on 55-kilo limit. Our favourite here is Sir Delius, $3.20, and he really announced himself in this race last year, didn't he? Eliana on the second line, $4. She got hit with some good support earlier today. Now she's just getting back out to $4. Cosmic Crusader, six into five. Must be all that WA money. St. George, $13. Zaran, 15s. Buckaroo, also 15s. She's a hustler, 15s, and half yours is $17. I'm keen on this race. I think there's two really solid winning chances, and Sir Delius is my best bet of the day. I think he's, my price is $2.40, so $3.20 is a really good overlay. I know he's only second up here, but he was trialling, before this preparation, he was trialling like he was quite forward. I thought his first up run in the Maccabi Dave was fine. We know he's not a miler. He'll go forward. He'll control this race, either leading or outside the lead from barrier nine. And wet track, no problems at all. He's a French horse who had lots of wet track experience back home. His first win in Australia was run on heavy ground in Queensland. He did it well, and I just think he's going to, elevate to a level that most of these can't reach. The only one I think can reach that level was Aliana. I'm not fully sold. She's back yet. What? She was, she was bad first up. You just put the pen through that. Last start, she was good in the seven stakes behind Autumn Glow. It was run at a really weak tempo and she, she sprinted home while she was fine. Um, yeah, I just don't know if she, she might still be one run away, but she's clearly the danger. And I've had a saver on her, but I'm. I'm all over Sir Delius. I couldn't get Cosmic Crusader anywhere near $5 will.
Speaker 7Yeah. I was coming into this race thinking that I'd probably be against Sir Delius cause I thought he was going to go up probably 250 or something a little bit shorter than that, but I marked him 280 and he's, he's a very backable price actually. He's, um, very well in, and you thought it was good in the Maccabi. He was never going to be able to sprint with, she's alibi, um, you know, 2000 meters. He won the, he won this race last year. So, um, yeah, he's going to get a really, really. Really nice run, probably get the one at one back position. And, um, yeah, it's exactly what you said. I disagree that I think Aliana is back, but it's just a, it's just a, you know, they were behind because I missed a barrier trial leading into the campaign. She was awful first up, but she was a much better in the seven stakes, but that was a really slowly run run race. So she still just might be lacking for the platform. Yeah. Just, and, and, and, and in these sorts of races, that's crucial. So, um. Um, yeah, and like you said, Cosmic Crusader has been heavily backed this morning and I just don't, I mean, maybe, maybe I, maybe the angle is that they're, um, that he's, he's hard fit. Whereas Aliana is just a little bit behind. So at least he's only had the one run, but they're going to have to be quite a ways off their best form for him to win. I think he's going to get a good run. He's going to be there, but I, he just, he just looks a little bit short to me.
Speaker 5Is he not going to be out on his feet that last hundred meters? Like. Genuine wet ground 2000 meters.
Speaker 7Perhaps. I don't know.
Speaker 5I don't know. Birdman, Birdman's a very good horse, but he made him look silly.
Speaker 7Yeah. Late last time. Birdman's, um, yeah, he's a really nice horse.
Speaker 5That's the other thing we haven't touched on. Birdman was nominated for this race, but he, they've decided not to accept with him and they're going to go to the Might and Power next week against She's Alibi.
Speaker 7Well, what price would Birdman be here after like absolutely tailing him last night? Like would, would, would, are we saying that Birdman would be favorite?
Speaker 5Not quite. He'd be, he'd be second favorite.
Speaker 7Yeah, I know. I know that's what I'm saying, but, but to have him 550, he beat him so well, like because it just can't be true.
Speaker 5Yeah. It just can't be real right now.
Speaker 7I mean, it may be a counter and the fitness aspect, that means a lot, especially on a heavy track. But yeah, I mean, I, I'm definitely in Sedelius's corner and I didn't think I would be, but two, uh, 280 is my price and I'm going to be backing him.
Speaker 5If Cosmic Crusader wins on Saturday, I'm, I'm going to look like a bit of a fool. I'm going to cop it on Twitter. I might have to close the account.
Speaker 7I'll be one of them, even though I agree.
Speaker 6Um, yeah, it's going to be a great race. I'm really looking forward to it on the weekend. I think Sedelius is going to be awfully hard to beat. I agree with you, Ben. He looks the best part of the day at Flemington, um, on Saturday. And I think you're getting a more than fair price at the moment to back him. I think he should be closer to $2.50 than $3.50 that he currently is. And I think he's going to be extremely hard to beat. The wet track is going to be no issue. The step to 2000 meters is going to be no issue. This horse is going to be awfully hard. Hard to beat in a Cox Plate in a couple of, three weeks time. And, uh, yeah, I'm, I'm really keen to be with him. So he's, he's chips in for me. And I think that, um, Aliana, I agree with you, Ben. I think there was signs of life last time. I want to see it again. She gets the platform to repeat that. Towing the track, 2000 meters. Flemington, all things that are heavily in her corner. So she looks the main danger on paper. I think there's a few horses here that are going to have a run. I think Cosmic Crusader, I've got a massive query about him. 2000 meters, wet track. I think St. George and Zaran, they're not going to want any penalties. Buckaroo, questionable 2000 meters. Oh, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 5They, they wiped that rule. Even though it's. Even though it's set weights and penalties. Yep. There's a specific rule in the Turnbull, even though it's a set weights and penalties race, not a weight range race, that you can't be penalized for the cups in it. Okay. I learned that from Julian Valanza a couple of years ago.
Speaker 6Well, I'm still questionable. I'm still, they might not cop a penalty. But I still think these horses, some of them might not run if it's very, they might not have the intent to win this race. I'm sure they're trying, but their goals are going to be a Caulfield Cup in a couple of weeks time. And they'll just get back and run on. Yep. There's a horse in this race, obviously I'm hoping more than exactly confident, but there were signs of life last time. I've been a very harsh critic of Half Yours internally in my conversations with their camp and on this, and on this podcast, I think there was signs of life. I think there was signs of life last time with the run that he had, I think he's going to get a wet track. He's going to get Flemington. He's going to get 2000 meters. It's D-Day on Saturday to see if he's really back. He's going to have, he's going to be awarded every possible chance.
Speaker 5He'll be a long way back. He's going to be a long way back,
Speaker 6but I think he's going to have a wet track. He's going to have clear air. And with half a smart ride from the jockey, I think top four, $2.75 and top six at a $1.80, they're bets that you can play through multiples and stuff like that, because he's a horse that it doesn't make sense. No matter how wet it is, the wetter, the better for him. And I just think the way that he hit the line last time is if he's awarded the opportunity of clear air and the jockey's not asleep at the wheel, he's, he's a great bet to have, um, in your exotics, whether it be same race multis or, or, um, all those top finishes, because I don't think he's necessarily a winning chance. I would be surprised if he was able to beat Sir Delius and Aliana, but I think he can, it would not shock me to see him run top four. And I think he's, he's a good thing. I think for top six is as long as he gets his right track and the tracks playing and the riders all, if everything aligns, like I think that it might for him on Saturday, I think we might see the version of half yours that will seem competitive in the races to come for the rest of his preparation. So I think Saturday's a really important day for him because there's nowhere to hide on Saturday and, um, it is moving day for his preparation.
Speaker 5Yeah, I agree. I think he'll run well. I just think he'll be in a, uh, not a winning position. Yeah. Quickly bought a horse. We haven't touched on Buck. I don't think he's going quite as well as this preparation. The ratings might actually say, otherwise he's still going. Okay. Can he elevate to a winning level on a soft track?
Speaker 7Uh, yeah, he can. I think he marked him 16 bucks. So if he got out
Speaker 5to a 26 or something.
Speaker 7Yeah, definitely. But I don't think he will. That'd be crazy if he did. Yeah. Mark him 16 bucks. He's more than capable. I thought he was fine last time. Just got a long way back. Yeah. Um, yeah. 20, you get 20 to one. Maybe you'd have some small.
Speaker 5Race. Number nine is the Gilgo. Guy group to 1200 meters down the, I did or did all the straight skybird $4, 18 favorite from hedge $6, 50 smooth Chino. The Western Australian runner is $6, 50 with Galati party back in the saddle. $10 for war machine. Uh, Arkansas kids also $10 and in Karuna was a good improver last time. $10. We should also mention loose on win more. Well, he won more last start, didn't he? It was $12 and he knocked off a live another day and co sick. Um, I had the buzzer ready. With the green cafe at about 1130 midday, Skybird went up $7. I went to put it in my bed slip. Bang, gone. $6. Bang, gone. $5. Bang, gone. $4.60. Will, what do you think? Is it a missed opportunity?
Speaker 7Yeah. Seven bucks would be nice. Yeah. She's the best placed horse in the country. Yeah. She's a lightning stakes winner, third in the TJ, and is 55 kilos in the Gil guy. So, I mean, obviously there's, there's, um, the, the variance in her is, is large. She can, uh, like she can go awful and she can go like third in, third in the TJ. She's, um, yeah, but I mean, this is a perfect opportunity. She was fine in the Moyer. She's, um, I mean, she was, she was a type of race
Speaker 6that everyone will back her and she'll turn. Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 7So that's, that's what I'm thinking. But I mean, I just sort of, I marked a four bucks. So, um, she gets, you know, she's going to get a wet track. We know, we know she likes a wet track. Um, and she gets to 1200 meters. She, you know, that's, I think that's her best distance. I know she, I know she won the lightning over a thousand, but I think 1200 meters, um, is her best trip. Or at least I, I actually thought she was going to be a miler as a younger horse, but you know, she obviously has done, um, some good things over sprinting chips. Um, yeah, I'm going to back her. I marked her four bucks. I thought in Karuna it was probably a little bit big as well. Um, really good in the, in the how now that, that, that, that how now rated really well. Um, and hedged a mark about the market price. I just, yeah. Um, hopefully he runs really well for, for Gavin Tyson and Adrian. He's really well in, in the race as well. So, uh, yeah, I think it's a race that's quite dominated by the top of the market. So I'd be interested to see what happens, but I'm probably going to back Skybird.
Speaker 5Yeah. I'm probably going to back her as well. I'm spewing it myself that I didn't grab the $7. I probably had an opportunity to grab something a little bit better than that, but. I waited and I waited too long to press the buzzer. Um, once this rain comes, she's probably going to start even shorter than $4.80. She's definitely the one to beat. I think another horse that adores wet ground is Arkansas Kid. Maybe he's not quite in the same form he was once upon a time.
Speaker 7No, he's not very good at the moment.
Speaker 5However, he was still okay last start and he might be able to elevate a little bit, but yeah, I think I'm Skybird.
Speaker 6Nicker? No. Opinion for me, couldn't care who wins. She's not one of yours. No, she's never been one of mine. Um, couldn't possibly back her with your money, man.
Speaker 5Yeah. But you don't believe in this sort of stuff. She wasn't ridden too close last start, was she? She sat fourth one out, one back in the mire. Terrible riding. Race number 10 is the Paris Lane Stakes. It's a listed 1400 meter race and there's plenty of good wet trackers in this. One of those is Ten Commandments, our $6 favorite from Njudo. $7.50. Cafe Millennium, $8.50. I don't think he wants it a bog. Steparty, $8.50. He won't mind it. Just Party was good last time around. A little bit unlucky as well. $8.50. Roulette King, probably wants a bit further than this. $10. Fancify has been 19 into 13. I don't know who put up 19. It's a big price. Just Folk, $15. Amenable, $15. Lord of Biscay, $15. And Cote Atlantique is $16. I'm backing a couple of horses in this race. One of those is Ten Commandments. The Green Cafe. They put up $10. I didn't see any of that. But I'm happy to back the $6 and $6.50 with our friends at Bet365. Look, this horse has been up a long time. And maybe the end of prep run comes at some stage. But he was a dominant winner of the Gold Nugget. Winning his first race on a dry track last time around. He goes forward. He gets the beautiful run from Barrier 3. And under this weight scale, he's well treated at the 54.5. So he's a bet for me. Two very good wet trackers in this race. One of those is Cote Atlantique at $16. He was very, very good last time around behind Welcome to the Show, I believe. He ran second. So he's a bet for me as well. And the other horse, look, if this was a mile, you'd be a lot keener. He's back from 1700. But Just Folk, he's just got to be a chance. Whenever it's a bog track or wet track, he loves it. And he ran second to the stable mate in Kingswood last time around. But who do you like?
Speaker 7No, this is impossible. Impossible. Nine bucks the field. Nico, anything? No, not for me. I really like Roulette King. I wish he went to the Caulfield Cup.
Speaker 5Yeah, he's a nice horse. But what's he doing at $10?
Speaker 7He probably won't get a run, first of all. $1,400 a minute. I heard they're going to the Golden Eagle. Golden Eagle. Really? Yeah. I heard that's the plan to keep him fresh. I know. He's a Caulfield Cup horse.
Speaker 5What the hell? I know. Races we didn't do there. What's the race one called? The two-year-old race? Maribyrnong. The Maribyrnong plate we haven't done. And also the Breeders' Plate and the Gym Crack at Randwick. A two-year-old race is just not our thing. So apologies there. We go over to Randwick now. Currently, it is a soft five. They've had a bit of rain. It dries up over the next couple of days. So I think we'll get back to a good four. And then on Saturday, there is the prospect of up to around five mils on race day. So if that comes, you might be playing on a soft track. If it doesn't, then you'll be playing on a good four. Sydney is, it's definitely hotter than Melbourne right now. I think they're sort of 25 to 29 degrees at the moment. And we're a little bit cooler. Race we're going to start in is race number six. It is the flight stakes for the three-year-old fillies over a mile. Striking alibi, $2.60 from Bangkok Hottie, $3.20. Global goal, also that price. $3.20 in Queen's Gamble is $12. Looks a race in three. They are the three who ran the trifecta in the main lead up. That was the T-Rose, 1,400 metres. But I think the horse in this race who strides out like the miler, the one who's looking for more ground, is Global Goal. She was very good last time around. She got back into a bit of a tricky position, but just watch her final 100 metres. She's just eating up the line late. And she's actually the third-priced runner of these three. So, yes, she has to turn the table. She's got to find a length or so on this top two quinoa, but I'm really keen on her, and I'd mark her favourite in this race.
Speaker 6Yeah, I've got no bet in the race. We sort of touched on this and spoke around it at dinner. But, yeah, visually, striking alibi was a good thing beaten last time. But. I'm sure that you'd want to be taking $2.60 about the Hanseatics. A, they like on top of the ground, and I just don't know if a Hanseatic's going to run a mile, to be honest. There's not much to look at these Hanseatics. They're squibby, on top of the ground, little second-hand whippersnappers, most of them. So maybe striking alibi will be a variable to my theory, but, yeah, I don't know if I want to be taking $2.60 about her, and I don't really want to be having to back one of the others either. So I couldn't knock your angle with Global Gold, Ben. I think Bank of Coddy's had a couple of birthdays. She's probably the one, if you force me, to have an on-top selection, but it's not a race that I wanted to get involved in.
Speaker 5All right. Move on to race seven. It is the Metrop Group 2, 2,400 metres. Atherwolf, our $2.20 favourite from the Euphrates. $4.80. He's got to carry the top weight of 59 kilos, but he's a very nice stayer. Juja Kibo, $8.50. I'd say more likely to run in Melbourne, but I'm not exactly sure. Soul of Spain, $11.00, also accepted, dual accepted. Pinhole, $12.00. Deacon 13s and Green Spaces is $15.00. I think if Atherwolf comes here, then I'm very, very keen on him. This is probably one of the more progressive stayers we've got in the country right now. I thought he was brilliant winning the Newcastle Cup. He's a horse you can make two runs on, a stayer you can make two runs on, which is something you really love to see. So if the pace is slow, he can go forward, he can take off, he can sustain that long staying sort of gallop. They're a little bit worried about a wet track. That's what the camp have come out and said, but I don't think we're going to get a massive amount of rain on Saturday at Randwick. So I'm thinking Flemington is going to be much wetter than Randwick. I think he'll stay home. I think he'll run here, and I think he'll win. The one to run down is definitely the Euphrates. He's got the 59. But he was awesome winning last time. Son of Frankel, who will only get better out in distance. But with that four kilo pull in the way, I'm happy to be with Athelwulf, Nico.
Speaker 6Yeah, I completely agree with you, Ben. I think Athelwulf will be winning the Metropolitan if it stays at home, which I believe that it will. Been a good horse's preparation. Best is yet to come. It's going to go to, this is going to be its stiffest test to date, the Metropolitan, but I think it'll win the Metropolitan and it'll march on. It's going to march on to the Caulfield Cup-Melbourne Cup double, which I believe is the plan post this run. So, yeah, it's an exciting horse for Matt Smith. A good young trainer. The wraps are big on this horse, but I think they're warranted because it's probably going to be one of the better hopefuls that.
Speaker 5Been a long campaign, that's the only thing.
Speaker 6Yeah, it is, but Steyr's, he's a good trainer of Steyr's, Matt Smith, so I back him to get it right. Yeah. going to be one of the better local hopes moving into the Cups. I hope that it continues on and it gets to that point because, um, it's, it's good. And we need, we need some local horses to, to be excited about.
Speaker 5So, yeah. Let's move on to race number eight. It is the time honored Epsom handicap group one over 1600 meters. The Doncaster mile is clearly the biggest handicap in Australia. And this one is, um, probably on the second or third line, probably second. And we've got our favorite here as autumn boy, $3.80 draws the inside. And because he hasn't won a big race in recent times, he gets him with just a 55 and a half kilos, obviously running second to she's alibi group on level quite a few times now, I think three well-written $4. This is the horse I smashed as soon as the prices went up, bet three, six, five, went up $5. Attica has been a drifter $6.50 out to $8.50. Lady Shenandoah, interesting support here. It's into $12. They went up 23. That probably was a little bit too long. Chael $15. Big price. And Mr. Miller is $15. Um, my quick summation of this race, perfumers has drawn barrier 17. She only knows one way. She's going to go forward and inject some good speed into this fully lit is the other leader from barrier eight. I think autumn boy gets a nice run, probably three or four back. The rails just saving ground. Well-written couldn't have drawn any more. Perfect in barrier three, um, chair Wolf. He doesn't have the blinkers on here. He'll just settle wherever he wants to. He gets the speed he wants. And Mr. Miller also gets a nice map. I think they're the, they're the four chances for me. Full disclosure. I've got $8 for well-written. I've backed chair Wolf at $15, but you can still get here. Um, and I've also backed autumn boy at $3.80. So they're my three results in the race. Autumn boy was excellent last time in the Maccabi diva. He ran on stoutly behind cheese alibi. Never threatening. This has always looked his race. Well-written is not him. Well, with the 55 kilos, but she's got a devastating turn of foot. Probably better than autumn boy chair Wolf can win despite the 59. And Mr. Miller has always looked the one who shapes like an Epson runner down on 50
Speaker 6Nika. Yeah, I've got, um, I've got the rest race down to three winning chances. I'm gonna put a pen through while written. I don't know if she's going to measure up here. I think she's well enough against it with 55 kilos, um, relative to the other horses here in the race that I bought. I believe a better winning chances. So the two roughies, I'm going to back a number one chair Wolf and number 19, Mr. Miller, I think chair Wolf. He's absolutely flying this horse. Um, he's set to pick next up with the blinkers on and run an almighty race in the King Charles. Um, we'll touch on him next time, but I think we will get an earn out of him next time, even though he won't be winning. Um, I think he's set to, to, to run a bold. I think he's set to run a mighty race on the weekend. I think $14 is stupid. I think Mr. Miller with 50 kilos on his back, he's set to run a mighty race in the Epson. I think soft ground, if it gets to that point will be no issue for him. And I think I'll just square up my book with a bit of a save, a slight profit on autumn boy. Um, he's very well in we're 55 and a half. Unfortunately, there's a horse called cheese and alibi that keeps lowering his colors, but, um, I think he's set to run a mighty race in the Epson. He's, um, he's in really good form and he's, uh, he's a deserving favorite. He's going to be very hard to beat, but yeah, two, two very easy bets to have at value. I think you could mark them half their quote. And I think autumn boy is over the odds at the current quote. He's probably, uh, closer to maybe a three sort of $3, three 20 chance with me. So, uh, yeah, it's a race that I'm pretty keen to get involved in.
Speaker 5Beautiful. Uh, but any thoughts? A lot of people are, uh, uh, pinning Attica as the. Epson horse down on 51 and a half kilos of the blinkers on. I, I wasn't quite sure if he'd be sharp enough to win.
Speaker 7Yeah. I was going to say, is he fast enough?
Speaker 5Yeah. I think lots of people are just thinking, looking at the weights and looking at the blinkers and going, Oh, he, he profiles like an Epson winner, but I don't think he's fast enough.
Speaker 7Tom kitten. I thought it was very good in the Rupert Clark last time, but in a long way, but he's just really, he thought Tom kitten was. Yeah. He was good over the last sort of 1200 meters. He just met, he just got a long way back and just sustained a really nice. Nice run. Um, where are they going with him? I don't know, but I mean, he could do something here at big odds. Weld ridden is obviously going to get a great run. And I think I could, I think that's a really important part of this race. Cause I'm just looking at the pace map and just doesn't look like there's a hill
Speaker 6stakes or something,
Speaker 7you know, like, I mean, perfume is like you said, fully lit. They'll, they'll make the speed and yeah. I mean, it should be good, but I think it's going to be vital to be on speed in this race and then she's going to get a really good run. But, but also as well, she'd
Speaker 5been hit hard with a handicapper 55.
Speaker 7I mean, that seems a little bit harsh, doesn't it? It seems a bit harsh. Um, yeah, um, she, she was falling in the, um, in a hole toward the end of 1500 minutes. I know it was really, really fast, but could, could a mile be the, like the absolute end of her or, I mean, maybe, maybe it is, she's going to get a great run. She, she probably prefer it slow. Um, barrier one's probably a little bit ugly for autumn boy, but it gets J max. So that kind of.
Speaker 5I sort of thought when bell Chevelle almost got her and just survived the protest, maybe she was getting towards the end of the prep. Maybe last time around, she had, she went all the way through in her first preparation. I'm pretty sure Niko. Yeah, she did six straight wins.
Speaker 7Yeah. And it could be, I'm not all over the form or anything, so I can't really comment. I just think she's, I just
Speaker 6think she's way to do her best at 55 and a half, uh, 55. I'm having to take her on.
Speaker 5Yeah. Okay. Well, Dan, oh, he's got a rating for around the one Oh three mark. Yeah. Last pretty similar to what I'm boy.
Speaker 7Yeah. The way it's anyway. Yeah. What about idle flyer? I know, I know she's drawn really badly, but in
Speaker 6the bid, this is a sort
Speaker 7of
Speaker 5race, isn't it? It's sort of, yeah, she'll get the right pace. She, she does like pay. She'll improve off last art. I just, I just think she's drawn in hell. Like she's going to be a long way back.
Speaker 7Fully lit run, run the one, the Cameron really well.
Speaker 5Thanks for reminding me. Didn't fully lit run second to autumn glow.
Speaker 7Yes. Yes. Yes. In the Epsom last year.
Speaker 5There you go.
Speaker 7So I don't know. I was going to be on pace. I think it's going to be on pace. Dominated race. Yeah.
Speaker 5Perfumers might really piss her off though. They might go hammer and song.
Speaker 6I'm really keen to bet with whether I see this race.
Speaker 5Yeah. Chai Wolf, like 15 bucks for Chai Wolf. It's ridiculous. I know, I know he's, I know he's got the top weight. It's absolutely madness. I know he's got the top weight and he doesn't have his blinkers on yet, but.
Speaker 6Yeah, but still like fair dinkum.
Speaker 5He's going well. Race number nine. The premier stakes group two, 1200 meters. The last race we will.
Speaker 6They're the best till last, Bob.
Speaker 5The last race we'll preview. Oh, I see. On this day. Tempted. $1.85 into $1.65. She's been absolutely hammered from head wall. $10. Cabalas has been, he's been trialing well. He's a good horse. $11. Ninja, $15 out from 13. It looks a big price, but he's drawn barrier 14 and 15. And Mahuna has been a bit of support. 31 into 19. Also worth mentioning Savvy Halley, $19. Who, if runs top three here, gets an F1. Everest slot, according to G.
Speaker 7That is insane. What? Savvy Halley. Gets an Everest slot.
Speaker 6Yeah, because the owners have got one.
Speaker 7Fuck off. Mulberry Racing have a slot. I mean, we've got the best horse in the world coming to race us. Surely we have to put a decent front car clock in.
Speaker 6Yeah, but that. I know they all want to dodge them, but like. They're going to get $700 back. They're going to get their money back for running their own horse.
Speaker 5It's the only knock on slot races. Yeah. When you've got horses that are owned in the interest, obviously it's a, it's a smart financial decision to take them, but. She's going to get her heart broken.
Speaker 7God. No, they all are, to be fair. She's a 1,400 metre group two filly.
Speaker 5I mean, Jimmy will run well in the Everest. Tempted will run well. But they're not in the same league.
Speaker 6There's your trifecta. Yeah. Australia's best sprinter goes around in this race. Tempted. King of Sparta's still racing. She'll be winning this race on the weekend and she'll do it for fun. Yeah. And yeah, she's a little, she's a little superstar Tempted. She'll run well. She only knows how to run well. And she will be part of the podcast multi.
Speaker 5Yeah, I agree. I agree. I probably should have taken $1.85. I can't back her at $1.65. I need better than that to be really launching in, but hopefully she's the second leg of our multi. Barry 11, I don't think will work out that bad. She'll be, she'll be midfield. She'll be off the fence. She'll be giving her a chance.
Speaker 6Chad knows his horse very well. He's riding comfortable.
Speaker 5Headwall was good. Last time, but he's big opportunity to beat her was first up at a thousand meters. Sorry. He was, he was okay in the shorts, but he was really good. First up in the Concord. Yeah. I don't know if he can beat her at 12. Cabalas will run well in the front and Ninja. Look, he has the opportunity to go forward, but I don't think they're going to use it.
Speaker 7Hmm. Um, Kieran Marr second up is not a winning spot compared to first up and third up. Second up some. Good horses to find. You lose. Uh, yeah, she's not, she's not the usual sort of Kieran Marr horse. So I mean, it doesn't, I mean, it's worth mentioning though.
Speaker 5She's four out of four first up and second up. She's one from three.
Speaker 7Yeah. I mean, yeah. Kieran Marr horses, it's, it's a losing proposition backing him. Second up, um, I'll try my arm. Yeah, fair enough. You've got a pretty good one to, to, um, bet against that theory with.
Speaker 5Yeah, no, she was awesome. First up, she carried weight in that Concord as well and she did it well. Um, I just, I just can't take a dollar 65, but I, I think she'll.
Speaker 6win, you don't need to, but You're going to take the podcast multi.
Speaker 5We'll get to it in a sec. The only other race worth touching on is on Sunday. The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Is the arc on? It's on this week.
Speaker 7Is that crept up on us? I didn't know that.
Speaker 5How did you not know it was arc weekend? Jesus. Am I that out of the loop? You are that out of the loop. Come on. Is it raining over there? Is it dry? I thought you were Blanco Jr.
Speaker 6Is it wet or dry over there? It's not too bad. I thought it was later. Japs are a chance this year.
Speaker 5I don't know if there are any of them.
Speaker 7No, they've got Meisho Taboru. That'd be funny.
Speaker 6Finally, a dry arc. It's raining today.
Speaker 7The dry track stuff with the Japanese horses is just a massive cop out. If you don't like wet tracks, bring tougher horses. And if you get it, the track's not that wet every year.
Speaker 6It's just a shout out to your man.
Speaker 5Longchamp Paris weather, Sunday. 23 degrees, sunshine. And Meisho Taboru. Meisho Taboru has won a couple of Takarizuki Kinnens. He's a good front runner, but he's not the same class as some of the horses.
Speaker 7Most overrated pool of horses ever.
Speaker 5They are just not that good.
Speaker 6Bot off the long run.
Speaker 5You know what I don't like about the Japanese racing? Their timing isn't standing start.
Speaker 7Yeah. And you've got people, they're running on fucking roads. They're running on roads. From a standing start.
Speaker 5And they're timing them off a flying start.
Speaker 7And then those aren't real time. World record time. Like, yeah, no shit, mate.
Speaker 5Time them when they're in the gate. It's not when they're half a length out of them.
Speaker 7It's like when the stallion brochures go and say, like, this is the fastest edition of the race ever. Like, it completely comes down to how fast the track is.
Speaker 5Yeah. I mean, at least in Hong Kong, they race on fast tracks, but at least they're standing start timing.
Speaker 7Yeah. Yeah, anyway.
Speaker 5Anyway, Darius goes back to back, boys. $2.50. Take it. He's back to form. $2.50, is he? $2.50. $2.50. $2.50 is nice.
Speaker 6Yeah. Take it and run. I'll put that in my bet slip.
Speaker 5I think he'll win.
Speaker 6That'll look nice with our friends, Bob.
Speaker 5What do we, what do we, um. I don't even know what's, what his opposition is. Are you serious?
Speaker 6I thought you were going to read me a market before. You disgust me.
Speaker 5I think the market's gone down. Actually, here we go.
Speaker 6Ah, Darius will win, man.
Speaker 5$2.75 from Maltese Cross 550. Who? I don't know what Maltese Cross is.
Speaker 6Maltese Cross. That's a dog. Maltese. That's a dog. That's a dog breed. We can't be beaten by a packet of Maltesers, surely.
Speaker 5A Maltese Cross. Nah, he's a nice horse. It's a Maltese Cross Shih Tzu on the second line of betting. Calpano is $8. Diamond Necklace, $9. Another dog. Calpano.
Speaker 7Diamond Necklace is about a million to one to stay a mile and a half.
Speaker 5Ben Venuto of Cellini's here, 21s. Mini Hawk, 21s.
Speaker 7That's a big price for the Derby. Oh, not the Derby. Not the Derby.
Speaker 5Mini Hawk's wheels have fallen off. She was favored in this race last year. Yeah. Cool boy, high horse. Anyway, $2.75. Yeah, that's a nice price. Back-to-back champ. All right. Podcast multi-time, Nico. I will lead us off. I'm going to go with race eight at Flemington. It is the feature this weekend. Number two in Sir Delius. I think he can go back-to-back in the Turnbull. He's currently better than $3 with our friends at Bet365. He goes forward. He controls this race. He's unbeaten two out of two on heavy. He's obviously an ex-French horse, so he loves it. And he's on. First win in Australia was also on a heavy eight track.
Speaker 6I like it. And for me, race nine, number one, tempted. Australia's best sprinter. She's short, but she deserves to be. She will cap off a nice winning weekend for the racing previews listeners.
Speaker 5You beauty. So take that double. Hopefully we can get it up this week. We put Bot on the bench this week because Tales of Time was no good last week. Maybe not the best ride. Maybe it didn't begin that well out of the barriers, but still an L on the spreadsheet. All right. Question time. And I've got a new rule with question time. Oh, here we go. This will be riveting because we've got 50 questions every week.
Speaker 7Yeah. Well, I think it's having had 50 questions this week. We do actually, we do.
Speaker 5However, I'm making a new rule. If you're asking about a horse that we've already talked about next question. Is that a fair rule? Fair rule. Listeners and in the cup, we
Speaker 6should have about 10 questions.
Speaker 5So if you're asking about a horse that we've already spoken about the race for 20 minutes, you've already. You've already listened to it. So we're just going to skip that because it's just a waste of time.
Speaker 6And if you haven't listened to it, it's going to make you go back and listen to it. Cause we know there's a few little rats that like to skip to the end to hear their question being read.
Speaker 5It's just a complete waste of time and the podcast is going to go for too long. Chris, the caster. Who had the worst Saturday last week? Concord Connie backers or the bloke who hit the Wharfie time button?
Speaker 7I think it's a dead eight to be honest. Oh God. Placement.
Speaker 5Love it. Expert timing. Rowan Greger. But I'll be down in Melbourne in a couple of weeks. Did you want to smash into the IPAs then run a foul in bar 20?
Speaker 7I'll take you up on the first option, mate. Not the second. There you go.
Speaker 5Simon Elvis. What price would you be tempted to launch in to tempted? I'm probably, I probably wouldn't bet unless I got a dollar 85, dollar 90, Nico, like single bet.
Speaker 6Oh yeah. Maybe a dollar 80. Probably about that dollar 80. Quite. Um. Well, I need to. You can say it earlier so it wins. I'll just take the podcast.
Speaker 5Ryan, not a question, but a request. Lock bot in the dungeon and don't let him out until he watches all the trials and provides us with a winner of each of these three two-year-old races this weekend.
Speaker 7Cheers. I saw that. Ah, no, I will not be doing that. Sounds like torture.
Speaker 5Boom punting. But why is no one talking about the political and economical state of the world? Shut up. It's not really your thing, is it?
Speaker 6No. But loves it.
Speaker 5Um, um, I'm just trying to skip some of these ones that, uh, Ryan Baldwin coming down, uh, needs a solid double to cheer home at Randwick. That'll be the podcast multi. Cameron Ortlep, you lads have an update on Jigsaw.
Speaker 6If he wants just a Randwick double, take Athol for the tempted.
Speaker 5Yep. Um, Cameron wants a, an update on Jigsaw. What's the target looking like? He's going to.
Speaker 6He's off to the Scalacci next week.
Speaker 5So he's going to the group two on Caulfield Guinea's day, which is 1100 next week. Scalacci stakes. Yeah. He'll be hard to beat. Connor says lower staking day with the weather in Melbourne question mark. Uh, but do you, do you usually stake less? No. I'm not a pussy. Jesus. Jesus. All right.
Speaker 6Just wait and see what the track's going to do. You don't need to be launching in Gregory Gator style right now.
Speaker 5Stay inside. Says Everest trifecta. Coyne rising blue door. Angel capital thoughts. Blue door. Blue door. No, no, thanks. Angel capital. Probably no thanks as well.
Speaker 7I didn't even hear him. I just, I just got caught up. Or blue door. Um, no, never.
Speaker 6Everest trifecta. Speaking of no opers.
Speaker 5Coyne rising. Who, me? Tempted. Angel capital. Jimmy star. Jimmy star blinkers remain on. Skinner. Triple zero on standby for me. If Atherwolf doesn't run in the Metro. Yeah. There's probably a few futures punters. I know some that have taken like 50 to one.
Speaker 6Oh, wow. To be fair. Um, my, uh, my Metro dream all but died. Yeah. King of C. Oh, I remember that thing. I forgot about that.
Speaker 5Rufus the cat says, not a question. A request. Please do a place multi instead. There might be some weeks where we do that, but just back the multi every week and.
Speaker 6Just take it to place.
Speaker 5No, you, if you back the multi every week, the win multi, you'd be up.
Speaker 6But if you, if you, if you're being scared, just take the multi as a place. Yeah. And make sure you sit down and wipe.
Speaker 5Racing Nuffie. Are you excited for Glenny to get humbled?
Speaker 7Oh, this is, this is D-Day for Glenny.
Speaker 5It really is. Will he delete his account if well written doesn't he?
Speaker 7No, he'll just, he'll just like go on a tangent about, um. Make up excuses? He'll go on a tangent about how, um, they should have, shouldn't have got rid of Matt Cartwright cause he knows the horse and Zach Lloyd fucked the ride.
Speaker 6I do agree with that.
Speaker 5Speaking of Zach Lloyd, Zach booted off Headwall says Bailey, question mark. Was he booted or was he just prior engagement?
Speaker 6I'm thinking he's probably just, doesn't matter who he rides. Not sure. I don't think Headwall's that good to be honest.
Speaker 5Ryan Patton, the best podcast you've ever recorded was, uh. It was a night when Bot was live and sloshed in the back of the Uber. Chances are the three of me goes, having a fair old session during the day, then staggering into the studio for recording one night.
Speaker 7I don't think we'd be invited back if we did that.
Speaker 5There's a chance. I mean, you, you boys have pushed the boat out a little bit. You've had, you've had, you've had a couple of drinks.
Speaker 6You've seen nothing yet.
Speaker 5Nothing yet. Yeah.
Speaker 6You want me to have a crack and really push it down? No, I don't. Yeah. That's what I thought.
Speaker 5We usually cut Nico off at about. Three to four beers at dinner.
Speaker 6I love how he likes to think that he's got control over me.
Speaker 5I do have control.
Speaker 7Oh, righto. Who does he think he is mate?
Speaker 6Put him in his face. He's someone getting him a HIA. He's clearly hitting his head.
Speaker 5Um, Sammy says, tempted the M word, uh, hopefully a good weekend so I can party harder Saturday night and Benny, let's get a giveaway going for some tickets or something for your good friends, for listeners. Pull some strings. Want some Bet365 giveaway? It's probably something we can, um, we can. We can look to do in the future. Um, T-Bone is any truth to the rumor that PBL will ride cane rising around stadium Australia for the NRL pregame entertainment. I can't believe they still don't have entertainment yet. Um, Matt, LS, when is central Europe getting ready to learn to go to Hong Kong? Hashtag Providence 2.0. Gee, that, that was an absolute slaughter last time around.
Speaker 6Hmm. Jack. On that giveaway idea. I've got, I've got something. I've got an idea. So leave that with me.
Speaker 7Yeah. Proud of Jenny plushies? I might get one.
Speaker 5Jack Jonas, why are Godolphin placing their horses like beginners? Ooh, contentious one.
Speaker 7Well, it's not contentious. It's like some of the placements. Like Pericles in the Manicato. What the fuck?
Speaker 5Terrible. Terrible. Zambales back to 1100 in the day.
Speaker 7Oh, my God. He was the fucking Batman stakes horse. And now he's like, what? You won't even get into the cool mall. No way. He's not a sprinter. He's won it a mile since he debuted. He's a miler. And he'd win the, no, he should be in the carbine.
Speaker 5Yeah, I agree. A couple Instagram ones before we wrap up. Is She's Alibi still a moral out to 2000 meters from Peter Zegas?
Speaker 7I want to try and get a beat, but I probably won't.
Speaker 5Birdman, you reckon could top it off?
Speaker 7Oh, is Birdman racing her?
Speaker 5Next week. Whoa. It's going to be a good race. Shit. I'm going to try and get a beat. She's going to start deep odds on. She'll still start at $1.60. And she'll win. Probably. $1.70. Wow. But you'll get $4, Birdman.
Speaker 6Wow. Give me $1.70, She's, please.
Speaker 5Sammy Vidor, what's your opinion on the new tote system? It's now National Tote.
Speaker 6Kicks off on Friday.
Speaker 5National Tote. I think it had to happen eventually. I don't mind it.
Speaker 6It's going to be interesting to see what happens with the National Tote. And then what happens then when it's a whirlpool day?
Speaker 5Like from a, from a sort of, what's the word I'm looking for? From a perspective of me being like always wanting a better price, I don't get the best of the three totes anymore. So that's. Yeah. But I feel like, I feel
Speaker 6like the National Tote is going to, they're going to have to incentivize people to be betting there.
Speaker 5So. Well, the bigger pool should mean good odds.
Speaker 6Should. Should. They're going to have to do something. They're going to have to be swift with it. So it's going to be interesting to see.
Speaker 5Yeah. Archie Galvin, how is Signetti four times the price of the Polo after one Blake Shinn
Speaker 7butchering? Because it got belted.
Speaker 5Yeah. Um, Kyan Butler, did you boys catch Cavill Avenue today?
Speaker 6Sick beat. Yeah, Bot and I were talking about it. Yeah. Yeah. Jamie went for one. Jay Mallon went for a haircut and the horse pulled up with cardiac arrhythmia. So did the punters that backed it up. Sevens into 420. Yeah. 240, sorry.
Speaker 5Caleb says, is New Zealand form generally discredited when they go to Australia? What have they beaten, et cetera?
Speaker 6Oh. Sometimes. Sometimes it is, but.
Speaker 5But the handicapper hasn't done that. You rated her 114 and given her 55.
Speaker 6Yeah. Progressive horses come out of New Zealand all the time. Like, you know, Jimmy Starr and the like were brought out of New Zealand. I think. The Hayes horse was brought out of New Zealand. I think on official ratings,
Speaker 5Autumn Boyan, well written, should be similarly rated. She's rated three points above him and that's why she's got to carry a lot of weight.
Speaker 6I think the stigma with New Zealand horses is a bit more or less relevant nowadays because they're slowly catching up to us, I believe.
Speaker 5Ollie Mittelman, can Changing Colours win a Tourac or an Empire Rose? Well, she's going to go to an Empire Rose and she
Speaker 6deserves her chance, but I don't think she'll beat Pride of Jenny. But she's the type of horse that. I think she can. I think she can win it. She's the type of horse that will probably like a Pride of Jenny race. Hmm. Who's that? Changing Colours. Changing Colours.
Speaker 5Could she win an Empire Rose? Yeah, she can. I think she can. But skipping a few here that we've already spoken of, of horses. Tom, Tom Ritchie, Tom Critchie. Botts thoughts on being clowned in a Jimmy Starr edit.
Speaker 7Hmm, that'd be funny.
Speaker 5What? What is that about?
Speaker 7I don't know. Probably because I said he could, I don't, he couldn't win, but I.
Speaker 5Oh, right, right, right. Just that he's not a sprinter, which he isn't, by the way.
Speaker 7He just won a Manicato.
Speaker 5What do you think of Smooth Chino's chances in the Gilguy, a horse we didn't speak of much?
Speaker 7Um, I think I'm marked at eight bucks.
Speaker 5Lincoln Morgan, do we know exactly where Afflewolf is heading? We think, we think he's going to Sydney if it rains. What was the D-lane suspension for?
Speaker 7Uh, he. Uh, checked, um, 11 of the day. He rode, I rode across on, um, charm stone and, uh, 11 of the day sort of was checked and lost a stride.
Speaker 5Yeah. Thoughts on step ladder gate. I think this is in relation to Jackson Odom getting on the ladder in the middle of Caulfield. Who asked that question? This is Damon Windley. On your Jacko. Uh, I, I told him it wouldn't be step ladder. Whether this Saturday at Fluenton, it's very funny like, like bedding live on a race in the middle of a track is just complete sicko behavior. Yeah. It's disgusting. Snake pit punters pod. When is the bot hog reveal question mark? The bot hog reveal. I'm tempted by two lengths and not happening. Oh, that's a different website. Not Spotify. Um, so I'll start
Speaker 7an only fans account.
Speaker 5Nico Childsy. Why is Birdman not going to the park? the CC, it would bolt in.
Speaker 7I don't know if it'd stay. Yeah, it's more of a, it's a cocksplate horse.
Speaker 5Yep. Colin Butler, only two more to go, boys. Punters Club, down for the Derby Day slash the Cup. Where is the best Calcuttas and where yous go?
Speaker 6What was that, sorry?
Speaker 5Derby Day slash Cup. Where is the best Calcuttas and where you go?
Speaker 6The Rising Sun Hotel is the best Melbourne Cup Calcutta. So that's on the Monday night. That's on the Monday night and Ben and I will be.
Speaker 5And come to, the call of the card is at Crown. That is during the day and then you go to the Rising Sun. It's a fantastic day out. You might ruin your Melbourne Cup day. You might be a little bit. Don't worry about that. Don't listen to Ben.
Speaker 6Don't listen to Mr. Sensible who sits a piss over there.
Speaker 5Look, you might wake up on Melbourne Cup Day. Yeah, you might wake up a little bit,
Speaker 6but you've got all day to get over it. So don't listen to Ben's advice. Five minutes till they tell. Just have a crack. Pin your ears back. Just do your Fred best and worry about the Tuesday issue on Tuesday. Just have a crack on that.
Speaker 5I think race one on Melbourne Cup. Cup days, about 10.45am. Yeah, but you don't even have a bet on that shit
Speaker 6anyway, so it doesn't matter. You might still be asleep. It's a two-year-old race.
Speaker 5You might still be awake.
Speaker 7Well, if you do it right, you will be.
Speaker 5The final question, and this is from one of the greats. You can tell which side of the fence Ben sits on, punters. This question is from Rocky from Caulfield. Rocky from Caulfield. Now, AskBot last week, you said you doubted Warwoven at 1,400 metres. Strange, as on the damn side, she had won up to 2,000 metres. A, did you just guess? Clearly, you hadn't done any research. Or B, the same as A.
Speaker 7That's a pisser. Explain yourself. When I'm talking about Sydney racing, you have to keep in mind that I haven't done any form. So yes, I didn't do any research.
Speaker 5No research. But I know
Speaker 7there's just a whole
Speaker 6cloud over here.
Speaker 7Everyone should know that I don't do form. That should be well known.
Speaker 6It's got nothing to do with form. You're talking about bloody breeding and frequency. We gave Warwoven
Speaker 5very little love.
Speaker 7Yeah. So take, you know, you should know this. Take anything I say about Sydney, he's like with a grain of salt. That's a bit of a cop-out.
Speaker 6That's a bit of a cop-out from Bot.
Speaker 5Rocky from Caulfield also added, Thank you. You cost me once again. Looks like I'll just listen to Benny and Nico from now on.
Speaker 6That's smart advice from Rocky. That's probably a good decision, Rocky. That's smart. That's smart from Rocky.
Speaker 5Should we do a Rocky reveal?
Speaker 6I'll just let Rocky stay anonymous for now.
Speaker 5Rocky stays anonymous for now.
Speaker 6For a few more punches to be thrown.
Speaker 5Yeah. Yeah. Maybe we keep Rocky.
Speaker 6Rocky can reveal himself when he feels like revealing himself.
Speaker 5Yeah. When he wants to call out for Adrian. Oh, thanks, Bot. All right. That is the podcast done and dusted. Look, I skipped about 15 questions there because we've already been going for over an hour and a half. But that's the new system, guys. We're getting 60 to 60 questions plus, sometimes more, and these podcasts are going for a very long time because we're doing the review at the start as well. So if you're asking about horses that we've already spoken about, we're just going to have to move past it for the essence, in the essence of time. Thank you and good luck this Saturday. You win some, you lose more. For free and confidential support, visit gamblinghelponline.org.au.
