The first story I want to start off with, I kind of like when we're doing things that's getting people to be healthier. I like that. So there's a story that comes out yesterday talking about Snap, and we know what Snap stands for. Tom, can you tell the rest of us what Snap stands for? Snap is Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and it's an EBT card that the government gives to people who are on welfare, and the government refills it, and then they can take it into the grocery store and use it. Yeah. And so we, taxpayers, provide that opportunity for folks who are going through challenging times. And of course, there's a lot of abuse with it. There's a lot of money that's spent. And at the same time, some people said RFK isn't good. Why don't we not allow people to use Snap to buy stuff that's not good for them? And so some business owners that make a lot of money off Snap, school, going out there, buying Coke, buying soda, they're like, wait, this is not a good idea. And why are they saying it's not a good idea? Well, then the numbers finally came out. Check this out. This is a Zero Hedge article. They do a great job there. Soda purchases slumped 13% after Snap sugary drink restrictions. Soda purchase fell 13%. After 10 states, Soda purchases fell 13%. After 10 states, restricted sugary drink purchases with Snap funds in 2026. Per an August National Bureau of Economic Research study, not yet peer-reviewed, covering about 5,000 Snap holders before demand, the average Snap household bought about 185 ounces of soda a month, roughly 15 cans. The 13% drop equals two fewer cans, notably household with enough cash to bypass the restrictions. Still cuts soda consumption 18.5%. When states labeled soda unapproved, it's not a good idea. It's not a good idea. It's not unapproved. It acted as a powerful psychological signal. Instead of bypassing the ban with cash, families reconsidered their habits. The sugar impact is unclear, but a 2024 study forecasts up to 20% of soda decline, but a 7% juice increase, meaning just a 7% overall cut in the beverage intake. Snap distributed $102.6 billion to 42 million families in fiscal 2025. As of August, 23 states have restriction waivers. The first time the USDA has ever granted them. This is massive because now we're seeing the direct impact to businesses just based on 10 states. Imagine this goes to 50 states. Tom, why is this story so important? This is important because there is a direct correlation between obesity and excess sugar intake, and the sodas are part of that. So if we're providing Snap to people who are unfortunately, you know, in a welfare situation, and you want to help them go in to get, you know, food, fruits, vegetables, and things, you don't want them loading up on soda because it leads directly to diabetes. It leads directly now to Medicaid costs for insulin. This is the beginning of where it goes. And you know what? Food companies have lobbyists, big, big lobbyists, and they work Washington, Pat, and they work the states to get their food onto the Snap program. Into schools too, by the way. And to get this, thank you very much, correct? I'll give you a big fist bump there. Ooh, Cali, get a fist bump. It's called seasoning. I give a little seasoning. No, no, no, yeah. From the husband here of a school teacher who hates the fact that you can see Coke machines in schools because kids will have a sugar crash right after lunch, and you're trying to teach them. This is good, Pat. This is good because it aims toward they're only buying nutritious stuff, and it got to get in front of big food. There's also big pharma. There's also big food, and they are out there trying to get things onto Snap. Candy bars, sodas, and all that should not be. What do you think about that? But same thing. Look, you've got Oreo that has the deep fried Oreo, just in case you missed. If the Oreo's not enough, let's deep fry it. Now they're coming up with the Oreo. KFC and Oreo did a collab. I don't know if it's very exciting. You can eat an Oreo that tastes like an Oreo and tastes like a piece of KFC chicken. That's it. Look at that. They put that. But there's no chicken meat in the Coke. the cookie. That'd be too healthy. Is this a joke? No, this is absolutely. Listen, I had to look it up. Are you serious? I had to look it up. This is not a meme. No, this is not a joke. This is where the pharmaceutical companies say, they come and they go, look, we're losing. Look, we're making a fortune on GLP drugs, but people aren't as diabetic. We've got to bring that back up so we can make some money. It's all connected. I'm not saying, but they probably. Is GLP profitable? You think? Yeah. So do you think maybe some GLP profits are going to lobbyists who are actually lobbying for the food side? I'm not saying that. I'm just saying when you start losing money on your diabetic, on your diabetes medication, maybe you go to the food companies and say, can you come up with something even more addictive and more delicious? Can you run a poll? And then the insulin companies are like, give me one second. Can you run a poll in the back and ask people how many sodas they drink per month? How many sodas they drink per month? Just ask zero, put one to five, five to ten, ten plus. Let's run a poll and see how much people drink because I'm curious to know. By the way, just to kind of give you guys some numbers on what states are already implementing this. Nebraska started the first of this year. Soda and energy drinks. First ever waiver. And energy drinks. There you go. Number two. Indiana started January 1st. Soft drinks and candy. Utah the January 1st. Soft drinks only. West Virginia soda and soft drinks. Idaho soda and candy. Oklahoma soft drinks and candy. Louisiana soft drinks, energy drinks and candy. Good. Texas sweetened drinks and candy. Florida soda, energy drinks, candy and prepared dessert. Arkansas soda drinks under 50% juice. Energy unhealthy drinks and candy. These are the states that are coming up from August 31st and on. South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Ohio, Virginia, Wyoming, Kansas, Missouri and Hawaii are all planning on implementing this plan. And the only bright blue state is Hawaii. But to your point too, these are strong lobbies and people are going to lose money. But this is a very interesting thing. This is where you say to yourself, this is the one thing government is doing well. There's not a lot of programs. But the part is this, like when I was in the military, I got into a debate with one of my friends 20 years ago, Devine. When I was in the military, they would say, if you're social, the last four years social starts with the number four, step up. All right, what are we doing? Go ahead. We're going to do a drug test. And we would go do a drug test. A guy's watching you. Boom. Hey, Jackson, you're smoking weed. Boom. Hey, Jones, come up. You got an article, whatever article 15. You're going to be working chow hollow, whatever for two weeks. All right. So then I asked the guy, my friend, I said, hey, if they give you tax funded money, snap welfare, shouldn't the government be able to drug test you at any time? No, I think that's unfair. the whole premise of our social safety net that's fine i get those people the second people are the people that can but they need help that was like me at the time look i can work but i got laid off and i need some time cool you get six months boom here's the challenge i think what we're talking about these other things it's the people that can't that won't they want to work they want to work they want to work they want to game the system they want to get free stuff and they're basically saying hey why are you telling me what to do with the money you gave me so to me it comes down to this final thing um do you want the freedom or do you want the restrictions that come with government assistance to me anyone that just relies on government assistance it's a doomsday scenario for you in the end what this does is brian i'll come to what this does is 42 million people are getting snapped wow 42 million 107 billion that we spend just for snap 42 million that's a lot of people by the way As long as the world needs that, at least there's alternative routes. And they're making alternative routes. In 10 years. I don't know if it's going to take that long. I mean, we're seeing what's going on with the Red Sea. Either way, I'm telling you right now, if China needs that oil, they're going to get that oil. I don't think China's going to make those things. So China only gets 8 percent of their oil from Iran. Right. So 8 percent is replaceable. If it was a bigger number. Yeah. They're not going to die on that. How about the sulfur? How about fertilizer and stuff? Because they have to grow their own food. And then they're shipping the raw materials to create rocket fuel, you know, for those rockets back. Look, I really look back at the HSBC case. They were monitored for five years, Pat. Five years. At the end of the five years, nobody was indicted. Because they said, too big to jail. Right? Too big to fail. Like we did there. No, no, no. That's what they said. They said, too big to jail. And they didn't want to destabilize the world banking system. They're stepping over this now. Because until Besant nails a large bank and takes them offline, the market, the stock markets, are going to price this as a tax, Pat. Do you understand? Because they're going to say, oh, that bank will get fined, that bank will get fined, they'll get fined. So they see that as a tax or a cost in the system. But this is different language. And this is why I say it's 50% chance it's going to work. This is much different language. No U.S. representative, Secretary of State, Secretary of Commerce, Secretary of Treasury, President, Vice President, has ever gone to the microphone with this sort of specificity and said, I'm going to take you off the dollar system. It means I'm shutting down wires, I'm shutting down access. If they, if they truly close and are aiming at the Iranian bank, Pat, if they truly take them offline, then there's something. But until then, it's going to be treated as a tax by the financial markets. And you go back to HSBC, by the way, it was over $7 billion. By the way, HSBC was the number one mover of money in and out of Mexico. And they caught the cartels that the teller windows had these square openings where you could slide boxes through. And the Cianola cartels, where they would pack their money, were the exact dimensions of the teller windows at HSBC. The question is, has this tactic ever worked in the past before? That's the question. So let me read this to you. In 2012, U.S. essentially told foreign banks and oil buyers substantially reduce Iranian oil purchases dealings with sanctioned Iranian banks or risk losing access to the U.S. financial system. We've done this before. Treasury contacted more than 120 financial institutions and regulators across 60 countries. Treasury says the overwhelming majority changed their practices rather than risk U.S. financial access. The results were dramatic. Iranian crude oil exports fell from 2.5 million barrels a day to 1.5 million barrels a day. That's a 40% decline. By 2014, it fell to 1.1 million barrels a day, 60%. Iran's oil revenue took a huge hit. Treasury later estimated that sanctions cost Iran more than $160 billion in oil revenue in 2012. And here's the part that's relevant to your question. You ready? China participated. Wow. That's the biggest factor. So, does that change your mind a little bit that this has partly worked in the past before? My instinct always goes to when I hear Besant start talking about punitive measures, I go to gun control. I just go, man, every time you try to say, I'm going to bring the hammer down, people find a way around these things. And when a country does that, when we start talking geopolitically and we start rattling swords, I always, I'm cynical now because I go, how much is lip service? How much of this is political? How much of this is Trump? And the administration is desperate because what they realize is that they are in a war. We're stuck in Iran. And I wouldn't know how to get out of it. This is a problem. By the way, I don't think you're alone. I think millions of people think the way you do. So, there is a community. I'm skeptical. Very skeptical. Did you have anything? Well, just to add, 50-50, my 50 is with you. Adam said it, and I think Tom mentioned it. The only way, Brian, and this is not what we want. The only way to win in Iran is literally boots on them and then blow them all up. There's no way. This was the biggest mistake. We are where we are. This isn't going anywhere. This is Canadian tariffs that they're talking about. Tom, can you go a little bit deeper on this retaliatory tariff that's going on with Canada and the U.S.? I'll read one of the stories, and I'll turn it over to you. Bully feud erupts between Trump and Ontario. Doug Ford over China's trade tariffs. The war awards between U.S. and Canada is heating up alongside the trade war with Ontario. Premier Doug Ford twice telling President Trump, kiss my ass. Trump pledged Monday to raise tariffs on Canadian cars, trucks, auto parts, and steel to 50% in January. After 50% tariffs on other goods landed Saturday when trade talks collapsed. Canada has been ripping off the United States for years, Trump posted, including, we do not yet need Canada. They need us. Prime Minister Mark Carney suspended negotiations Friday over last-minute changes. He called unfair, uneconomic, vowing to retaliate dollar for dollar. Ford calling Trump a bully, said Canada must throw everything in the kitchen sink at him. I have a lot of real estate on my ass, and so he has a lot of room to kiss my ass. And they have a lot of lumber. And what they've done is they've done a thing called stumpage fees. Stumpage fees basically creates an advantage and a subsidy to their own lumber people who then ship plywood and building products to United States and disadvantage the U.S. suppliers. So this has been going. Makes sense, Pat? So that's been going on for a long time. Also, dairy has been going on. Guess what? There's the cows. That's been going on for a long time. So Trump got into this on the good side. Hey, man. There's been a couple errors. There's been a couple errors for you guys who have really kind of been messing with us. And we really want to straighten these out. And Canada's like, no, no, no. We don't want to touch those. And he said, no, you've been ripping us off for a lot of time. That's what Trump is talking about. I don't know if rip off is the word, but those have been things that have been unresolved. So that's what Trump was pissed off about. Now, who's Doug Ford? Doug Ford is the governor of Ontario. Governor of Ontario. So he's basically the Gavin Newsom of Canada. He goes to the microphone. He's unafraid to say stuff. He's like this. This is what it's all about. Meanwhile, Mark Carney is playing because the EU has told Mark Carney that they're giving him green light to go up against Trump. We're going to help you out. We're going to do this. We'll trade with you. There's things we'll do. So Canada, with a GDP one-tenth of the U.S., 31 versus $1.3 trillion, they are sitting there, you know, 3.1, 31 versus 3.1, pushing it. So that's what's going on. Now, all of a sudden, you've got Trump elevating it, saying Trump things. You know, you guys are idiots. You're the worst. It's ever where Trump. Renaming a lake. Where Trump started in a good point that we needed to level the playing field for the lumber industries, dairy and others, digital services, too. And now it escalated into this where they're screaming at each other. We're renaming a lake. I want to. I want to play this clip for you. So this is President Trump on Glenn Beck talking about what it says. Go for it. They are one of the worst countries in the world to deal with. And this has gone on for many years. Wait, wait, wait. can i validate that it's a chemical change and everything happened to me i don't think so but i'm more protective aware and i wanted to be a great dad and make sure that that i was there and provided education and so there's different things i was thinking about that i never even considered when i was merely a husband or even before before i was married but i was an uncle yeah and by the way the it's all about service but that takes a lot of pressure off you in a weird way because you're just thoughts you know uh look i don't have dad brain i'm just trying to avoid dad bod at this point but one day maybe uh let's just say i'm taking notes adam's got this town locked down i've never he's never come to my show where he didn't have there was a very colorful group of people and they were all very fun to look at almost all female so whatever he's doing is oh uh no i think it's i think it's it's interesting i mean i know how i am just around my my nieces and my nephews and that feeling of
