The episode begins with a lively recap of a successful comedy tour weekend in Austin, highlighting memorable guest appearances by Adam Lucky, Shane Gillis, Joey Diaz, and others, and the strong community engagement at the Comedy Mothership. The hosts then shift to a sharp political analysis of the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict, noting that despite aggressive military actions and threats, no significant progress has been made—contradicted by a surprising joint proposal between Iran and Oman that undermines the narrative of unilateral dominance. The conversation critically examines the delusional nature of political rhetoric, especially around Trump’s potential third-term run and the claimed successes of military interventions. These are seen as disconnected from reality, with no tangible outcomes such as regime change, economic collapse, or open straits. The hosts also point out the hypocrisy in narratives promoting U.S. strength, referencing Benjamin Netanyahu’s public admission of leveraging U.S. policy for Israel’s strategic goals. Ultimately, they argue that such delusions not only misrepresent reality but also erode public trust, with no evidence that any of these grand strategies are working. The episode concludes with a call for accountability, emphasizing that real-world outcomes—such as economic instability, loss of life, and failed promises—outweigh the inflated claims of victory. Throughout, the hosts underscore a consistent theme: political narratives often thrive on spectacle and emotion rather than factual or strategic grounding.
Speaker 1 : What's up? What's up everybody. Welcome to a brand new episode
of part of the problem. I am Dave Smith. Of course he is the great Robbie, the fire Bernstein.
We were separated for the weekend, which is always tough on us. But how are you, Rob?
It's good to see you again.
Speaker 2 : Well, before I plug porches, I want to hear about the mothership.
Speaker 1 : Oh man. Oh, well, what can I say?
Speaker 2 : Shane Gillis drop. I did a guest spot. Adam. Lucky is hilarious.
I guess he ended up opening
Speaker 1 : Adam, Adam. Lucky opened the whole night and the whole weekend and
Derek Poston featured. They were both great. I mean, they both did great. I don't think
I know, but Adam, I've worked with a bunch. He's really funny and really dark. Very funny,
very funny, very dark, but it's like, but it, I liked him going up front. Cause it was
like established a good tone kind of for the show, but very, very funny jokes. He was great.
And also just, he was a really great guy. Fun to hang with the weekend. And then, and
then, um, yeah, Shane, Shane came in and did a set on a Friday night on the late show on
Friday night, which was, which was pretty cool, man. It was like, uh, it's just nuts.
You know how excited people are to see him and how great he was. It's really funny. New
shit too. It was fun. I liked, uh, it was fun to follow him. That was like a fun kind
of challenge, you know, to go like, okay, now I gotta go back and get them back. Um,
but yeah, it was just the whole time. It was a great weekend. Uh, all the shows were sold
out a ton of fun, met a bunch of cool people. Um, and, uh, and then I, I saw a bunch of
my friends. We had Kurt Metzger came through and did a spot on one of the shows too. Um,
and uh, yeah, it was a great time. I did Tim Butterly's podcast when we were out there
and I did a curtain, dunkle, uh, Kurt and Duncan Trussell's podcast as well. So if you
guys want some more content, both of those were really, uh, did Scott Horton or Rogan
end up hanging out in the green room at all? I hung with Rogan, uh, one night, one night,
he, uh, he came and we hung and then he had stuff with his family the other night. There's
no Joe Rogan experience by the way, for anyone. I know every time I go out there, people are
always like, oh, we're getting another JRE, but not, not this time. It doesn't always
work like that. Like he doesn't usually record on the weekends and he was doing stuff with
his family and I, I, you know, so anyway, try to make that happen soon, but not this
time. But, uh, yeah, so we, so he hung one night and then, uh, and Joey Diaz was out
there too. So I got to hang with him a bunch too, which is always, he's, you know, generally
one of my favorite, just one of my favorite people to hang around.
He's a Joey, just hanging out with Joey. He is like, uh, a, a genuinely like infectious
person. Like he's just very hard to not laugh around. Like you just want, you just have
a smile on your face when he starts talking. I don't know. He's just like that guy, you
know? Um, but anyway, yes, it was a great time. Thank you so much to all the fans, um,
who came out and really, of course, thank you the most, uh, to Joe, um, and Adam Eget
and those guys. Like, I don't know. I was about to literally, I haven't done it. You
know, I haven't done it yet, but I was about to sit and like compose long texts to each
of them to just thank him for fucking what a great weekend it was. But those guys have
really always just embraced me so much and treated me great. So it was just, just excellent.
If you're in the Austin, Texas area, man, try to get out to the comedy mothership. If
you can, it is a fun time.
Speaker 0 : And, uh, if you're not, I'm playing backyards, uh, this upcoming weekend,
I've got net Kong, New Jersey, uh, then coming up, uh, I've got, uh, outside of Cincinnati
and, uh, uh, it's someplace in Kentucky, but it's right outside of Cincinnati. It's
Melbourne, Kentucky. And then I'm in Bedford, Texas, and I'm looking for porches. Help me
out here. People. I've already got these route plans and I've got gaps in them. Uh, if someone's
got a porch in long Island, I'd love to add it for this upcoming weekend. I'm looking
for something in San Jose or San Francisco, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Austin, Texas, and San
Antonio, Texas, all of my routes to the end of the year are planned.
I just have to confirm the dates. And, uh, those are the holes in the route. So hit me
up. People
Speaker 2 : Do your thing, people make your magic happen. And then, uh, of course
the next date that me and you got
Speaker 0 : The Louville comedy club in, uh, in Louisville, Kentucky, which we
had a great time at last year, as I recall. Um, so looking forward to going back there,
come on, let's see if we get, we sold that five and Austin, see if we can sell it for
a
Speaker 2 : Best bourbon stash of any comedy club in the country.
Speaker 0 : Oh yeah. They have an excellent bourbon. That's right. What were
we drinking last year? What was the one we had up in the Tacoma spot too, that they had
down there.
Speaker 2 : I don't even know if we should say this on, on air, but, uh, we managed
to get it.
Speaker 0 : We got our ourselves a little taste of a peppy van Winkle, which
was a real treat.
Speaker 2 : It was nice. That was nice. Yeah, that is, uh, we're yeah. You start
drinking. We start throwing a few of those back. You go, you guys might be breaking even
for the weekend. Sorry, but we're, uh, yeah, not cheap, but very, very good. Um, all right,
well let's, uh, shoot, let's start getting into some stuff. Um, what, what can you say,
Rob? Uh, I guess we should start with the latest on the war. Um, cause we are still
at war. And, uh, uh, the latest on the war, uh, I guess we should start with the latest
on the war. Um, cause we are still at war and, uh, uh, the latest on the war, uh, the latest
is another, um, escalation round. Uh, last night, um, the U S uh, uh, attacked, uh, Iran
bombed one of their islands, uh, in the Strait of Hormuz. Uh, several people were killed
according to the Iranians, uh, the Iranians vowed to respond and they did, uh, they attacked
our bases in Jordan and in the United Arab Emirates.
Um, there's some, uh, well there's contradictory messages from the Americans and the Iranians
what how successful the Iranian uh response was but once again we're just kind of back in the
exact same pattern in the exact same trap um I I thought the thing I don't know did we oh we maybe
did we talk about this on the members only episode at all Rob I'm sorry I can't remember but I
thought the most significant thing that happened over the weekend um which really kind of puts
things into perspective here is that the our last episode we had talked about Besson announcing his
economic d-day you know it's like this whole war man the whole seven months or whatever it's been
since February um it's always constantly like bullying tactics to get somebody to to you know
surrender to you so now we're bullying other nations about doing business with Iran and two
days after that
after this announcement Rob Oman and Iran came out with a joint proposal about joint uh control of
the Strait of Hormuz and and share and fee revenue sharing between the two of them and like look I'm
not saying look obviously Rob it's not that Oman came out and announced like a big oil partnership
or something like that and and obviously in the MOU it implicitly if not explicitly essentially
accepted
that ultimately Iran and Oman will control the Strait of Hormuz but I gotta say Rob I thought
there was something pretty major about the fact that we come out the signal is very clear no one
is to do business with these Iranians and two days later they announced this major partnership I I
mean to me I took that as a pretty obvious like you know a pretty obvious sign that in in the
same way that these threats are just coming off as empty nobody's capitulating to this that's my read
what do you think
uh well the second we're back to strikes uh my thought was well I guess the uh I guess economic
D-Day didn't work and uh who would have thought you know they probably would have should have done
it from day one if that was going to be a good strategy but my latest read on Trump I mean
everything's a SAT question of trying to figure out what what is even happening I was trying to
dig into the Venezuela thing for a little while today and it's amazing non-announcements and
announcements um it seems to me like Trump's uh
the way Trump is operating is that he just wants to win the 24-hour news cycle without any care or
concern for what 48 hours from now looks like and so they will just say whatever today and it doesn't
matter tomorrow and it certainly doesn't matter two weeks from now it's an absurd way to live
it's an absurd way for you and I to try and have to cover the news because they don't stand by
anything within a 48 hour or one week window but it's like literally just say something that doesn't
make sense it will uh be front page of the news today we'll win today's news cycle we'll deal
with tomorrow tomorrow and uh I'm I'm assuming that that's what's going on with the most recent
round of strikes because I can't imagine that they're actually looking to uh you know I I don't
think Trump's ready to nuke Iran and I don't think we're looking to go back to continuous bombing
with Iran no I agree and and at least from what's being reported I don't know that we have the option
to go back to continuous bombing of Iran at least not for much longer all right guys let's take a
moment and thank our sponsor for today's show which is goldbacks California just got its own

is a product I very much believe in and you can go learn more for yourself at goldback.com Dave
check out the new California series and the Utah refresh and pre-order yours
right now goldback.com Dave all right let's get back into the show you know it's interesting what
you said because it I see so much of that everywhere like just trying to win the the day when
news argument i also by the way since you brought up the venezuela thing man it is i was seeing i
mean it's unbelievable rob like you know the hawks all of them they celebrate at the tiniest little
thing before there's even actually a victory it's like i'm it's like it reminds me literally of
whatever it was now like four months ago when donald trump just announced that we had a deal
that was completely made up that the deal was that remember the deal was that the iranians are
going to hand all the enriched uranium over to u.s forces and then open the strait tomorrow
none of this was real for the hawk spent the day celebrating the win the day donald trump's huge
victory in iran then tomorrow it it turns out that it's complete lies the strait isn't open
we're not getting the enriched uranium and they all just act like it never happened and like it's
anyway with the venezuela it's like he makes an announcement we're getting all this oil and they
go aha we won it's right we we don't even have to wait to see if it pans out at all it's just
for the venezuelans to win it's just for the venezuelans to win it's just for the venezuelans
to win it's just for the venezuelans to win it's just for the venezuelans to win it's just for
you know one example of this i there was i'm blanking on the guy's name but there was a an
admiral uh someone in the military did you see this rub last week and there was much uh fanfare
about this of course from all the hawks he said that we've cleared the straight out of mines
there's no more mines and the hawks were celebrating so there you go now rob think
about how pathetic this is right like the war goals we haven't gotten the enriched uranium
we haven't ended their nuclear program we haven't stopped their support for for
for has below we haven't gotten rid of their missile programs and we haven't opened the
straight of her moose but we got the mines out of the straight of her it's already pretty pathetic
to be bragging about until yesterday rob when a ship hit another mine and so like that's being
reported so again i i don't know like when it comes to these things i'm not trying to overstate
what i know here i don't know like maybe they have gotten a lot of the mines out maybe there was just
one more there and and like the spirit of what that admiral was saying was true but it sure does
seem like they're just lying about it and they're just lying about it and they're just lying about
mine to us again sure seems like you said there were no more mines there and now there's another
mine uh you know i mean if you remember rob you know because like with all these wars there's the
talking points that go away but a huge huge talking point rob from the first month of the war
was how uh depleted iranian missiles were remember remember when they kept talking
about 75 percent of their missiles 85 percent of their missiles are gone
that was one
month one we're six months later they're still firing off missiles so again it's just it seems
like with the whole war it's like one thing after another after another after another is just like
it's just being exposed this is all bullshit none of this is working and we're just still right here
uh can i go off topic for a second on the venezuela thing sure absolutely
i can't believe listen i'm i i'll define myself as medium stupid but usually my reading
comprehension uh is decent and uh it's amazing to me sometimes when i'm reading stuff from trump
and i'm like i don't even understand what i'm reading so just give the broad strokes and why
the venezuela thing makes no sense is that at least from what i understand venezuela oil is
basically break even if the global oil price is around 80 a barrel and you're not going to see it
for five years so you're talking about someone making a massive investment assuming that oil
prices are not coming down five years from now and that also with that whoever's the venezuela partner
or government is going to respect that you've made the investment in there and that that's your oil
now you also have basically we're partnering with some random billionaire in venezuela
we're somehow putting up none of the money but we're 50 partner in the oil venture uh and no one
i i haven't under there's no clear explanation to me yet on how this is moving forward or where
the money's coming from uh the only thing that might make sense which i guess they won't say
is that we've got a random billion over the billionaire over the dollar and we're not
going to make a lot of money out of it we're not going to make a lot of money out of it and we're
not going to make a lot of money out of it and we're not going to make a lot of money out of it
and we're going to recognize it as his oil and so it's worth him partnering with the united states
military and stealing this country's oil maybe that's what the plan is but they don't say it
well it's also just um like right there's there's a few layers to this like i think you're i agree
with everything you just said there look i mean you're talking about a five-year-out investment
there's also i mean you're taking a big gamble on the political stability of venezuela we have no
idea where venezuela is and we're not going to be able to get to venezuela we're not going to get to
venezuela we'll be in five years um but it's just also interesting that like i don't know man
there's something truly um sickening and just morally disgusting about well i mean i guess
about any of the the way people cheerlead war but it's like dude you sold this war off drug boats
off fucking you know the idea that like they were responsible for fentanyl deaths you saw like it was
not so like and yes okay fine donald trump did say we'll take their oil a bunch but like like okay
right rob you've got nothing here we haven't shown at all that this is going to work this is
donald trump is saying something take that for what it's worth we have no idea whether we'll
ever see any profit off of any of this but it's also just like so you're just it's amazing that
the the little support that donald trump has left his supporters want to like throw it in our face
that ha venezuela did work out while he's in the middle of another catastrophic war that is just
completely failing and this was like even if you were right you're still like not in any position
to be like dunking on anyone but number two like what are you even right about so like essentially
what you're telling because this really is there is you know tucker carlson made a really big deal
about venezuela um and you know i guess i did too this and this hurts some of us because the
war went relatively well and a lot of people didn't die and it didn't cost a whole lot and so
like ah you kind of come off like oh you're making a big deal out of something but it didn't go bad
and you know we would make our analogies at the time about drunk driving and making it home in one
piece and going hey it was still a bad idea to do that you know but one of the things that tucker
really made a big deal about was like how this was such naked aggression i mean it's not even
like with iran where there was the claim that they're developing nukes and that they would
then use the nukes offensively and this was just like like people are literally saying
here if if they think this works out and therefore it's good that there was a little puny country
that posed absolutely no threat to us according to donald trump himself maduro had offered him
everything he wanted 100 had just said hands up don't shoot please and he went nope we don't like
you we got a deal with your second in command so we're gonna go extract you and and go work with
her so he launched a war on a sovereign country that posed no threat to us that had never attacked
us and that had no
plan no one's even pretending they had plans to attack us but we took their shit so that's a good
one i guess something's sick about that i guess we've got a problem that uh china's become you
know too powerful with its silk road initiative of making investments and trading in other countries
and since we're the more moral of the two countries we have to go invade other countries
and take their shit to keep china in check yep yeah right something like that and we're right like
we've spent 25 years uh going around the world bombing everything and china spent 25 years going
around the world with uh you know briefcase full of cash it's not a surprise that they're gaining
partnership and we're losing it um the uh you know i heard another uh comment um who is it say
oh man i gotta i'm blanking on this it might have been rubio but it might have been one of the guys
under him but one of them said and i thought this was so it was
i'm sorry going back to uh iran now but he goes he goes look we can absolutely put enough pressure
on on the iranian regime until they just can't take it anymore and they're they're
ready to make a deal he goes look we did it with hamas uh we did it with isis
we did and you're like dude wait what like that's actually what's in the mind and i wonder sometimes
rob you know like sometimes you're like okay so you're just saying what you need to say to win
the news day but then there's a little part of you that's like wait you don't actually believe that
that's a valid comparison right like i'm just saying like just on the most like fundamentals
of it like isis at at its height was like a few thousand fighters dude i mean maybe like you know
in tens of that low tens of thousands or something hamas i don't know we've seen the different
estimates of how many fighters they ever had but it was in the tens of thousands you know
maybe thirty thousand or something like that like tell me about a country of
ninety million people none of those are nation states those are just terrorist organizations
like i don't know so it's just again like as i say with this whole thing i don't my position on this
has never been that the iranian regime is untoppable you cannot overthrow them and that
no amount of economic pressure could ever bring this regime to its knees like that's not exactly
my position i don't
i don't know you know like i think actually rob people can survive a lot more than you would think
you know like i let me say it like this i don't like it's not like it doesn't violate the laws
of physics for the iranian regime to collapse like amongst all this instability and maybe the
economic pressure is enough i just kind of i'm a little like agnostic on the question
my my belief is just like it's wrong to launch wars of choice it's wrong to go kill all these
people it costs money it never does anything good it destroys lives and it destroys nations like
but and and also my argument is that
if the Iranian regime were to fall, I think that's likely the worst case scenario. But in addition to
that, I would just say, Rob, it certainly seems unlikely. It just really, really seems like a long
like such a stretch. You know, I just read about. I mean, dude, like. Think about the economic
blockade of Germany during World War One, think about the economic blockade of Germany during
World War Two, the economic blockade of Japan during World War Two. There was still a military
component that was necessary to all of that. There's not any one of those examples where they
went, no, we could just starve them out. We couldn't starve Saddam Hussein out. We had a
military blockade for years in the 90s against Saddam Hussein, a country a third of the size
of Iran, right next door to it, a third of the size with much easier terrain to invade. And
ultimately we had to invade. We had to send the whole army in. That's how we got them. So anyway,
I mean, I suppose it is possible here, Rob, that like they're they're degrading the regime to some
degree. But it just seems like, nah, dude, it's just going to keep going like this. It's going
to keep going like this and they're going to keep surviving. And essentially, you know, the next the
next round of this might be an Iranian escalation. You know, Iran might say, hey, we can't just sit
here and play tit for tat anymore. And we got to go like go first. So we'll see. Yeah. And it remains
unclear to me why why we struck that island. I guess they were claiming that they were laying
new mines. But who the hell knows? Yeah, yeah, it's right. Exactly. It's totally I mean, when
your government just lies to you like so much, you know, I did see the Iranian, I believe it's the
foreign minister was giving a speech and he gave like a very measured response, you know, and he
really he he was really going out of his way to sound as reasonable as he could. You could tell
like he's trying to like win the international PR game. But there is something about it, man.
As I watched it where. You know, again, I know people like like the fucking room temperature IQ
response to any of us being against these wars is always like you love the mullahs or you worship
the Ayatollah. I've I've literally been.
Just over the last five years, Rob, I have been nationally smeared as a Putin lover, a Hamas lover,
an Ayatollah lover, a Houthi lover. Like I always must love the somehow I just yes, I'm so loyal to
Vladimir Putin. And I really just believe in the Houthis mission statement or something. But,
you know, OK, so all of that is dumb. It's just not true at all. In fact, I really have nothing
but contempt for all governments and men who rule over other men.
But it's hard not to listen to this. This Iranian speak. I just go, dude, he just sounds so much more
reasonable than our leadership. Like he literally just goes, he says in the thing he goes, he goes,
there's a big difference here. He goes, there's two parties in this war. Well, I mean, I guess
there's three parties in the war, but he was saying there's the Americans in the U.S. because
we're not the same here because we didn't attack you. We didn't want this war. We didn't launch a
war. You launched this war and then you lost it and you just won't stop.
Keep attacking us. We have to respond. We can't just let you attack us without responding. So how
about this? Just stop. There never needed to be a war to begin with. And just like as he's saying
this. Like, dude, I don't like shite theocracy, but how do you argue with that? How do you not
go like, right? Yeah, this guy is the guy being reasonable here. And then our side is just making
these crazy demands that we can't enforce to keep the war going for absolutely no reason.
It's.
Very, very weird situation, Rob. All right, guys, let's take a moment and thank our sponsor

exists to begin with bodybraincoffee.com promo code Dave 20 for 20% off. All right, let's get back
into the show. Should we go up, man, in the midst of this here, let's play the, uh, the Steve Bannon
on, on Bill Maher. Did you, uh, cause it's just too, I, I don't even know what to say about some
of this stuff, man. You know, I think we're in a little bit of a, um, you know, I think this happened
a bit, definitely happened during Ukraine a bit. Definitely, definitely happened about Biden's
senility. But do you remember like, you'll almost have these moments where, you know, it's as if
we're living in two different realities, but you sit there and me and you talk to each other,
you know, three times a week and we sit here and we go now, but our reality is reality.
Your reality is some anti-reality. And every single time, every single time with this,
it just took a little bit of time until everyone started realizing, oh yeah, yeah. The react,
because reality is powerful. The reality was that Biden was senile. That wasn't our take
versus their take. We were living in reality and they had diluted themselves into something else.
This is so delusional. I actually can't, I mean, I, this is to me on the level of like an MSNBC host
going, yeah, but wait, this is so delusional. Biden gets his hands on Trump at that debate stage, which they were saying, if you remember
earlier that week, do you remember? They, they love the narrative that Joe Biden had beat Trump
in the debate in 2020, which was really like Trump just beat himself in that debate, but they love
that now. So their thing was like, Biden's going to go smoke him again. This is Bannon is as
delusional as a Biden supporter thinking he was about in 2024 to have a great debate performance.
Note, not one drop less delusional than that. So here, let's play Steve Bannon,
the guy who got Donald Trump elected on Bill Maher's show.
The constitution. Can I read a passage to you?
Amendment 22, no person shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice.
And yet you keep talking about Trump's, maybe you should have this.
I'll get you to sign it backstage and underline. President Trump didn't bring up running for the
third term. Myself and others brought up running for a third term. President Trump is going to run
for a third term and president Trump is going to be elected again on the afternoon of January 20th
of 2029. He's going to be president of the United States. Okay. But, but the thing I just read in
there, it seemed like there was no wriggle room there. It seemed like it was just, you know,
eight or 10 words.
It said only two times.
We have a team of people.
A team. How can a team do something about that? How, how, what, I don't care if the team is 12
trillion people. The words are still the words.
Bill, every day in federal courts right now in federal courts, there's 120 lawsuits on what
president Trump's doing for his article two rights on the unified executive theory. But he's chief
executive, he's commander in chief and he's chief magistrate and chief law enforcement officer.
There's a hundred and they're running the court every day.
But the suit president Trump, all because the interpretation of this, the interpretation of this is open for interpretation.
How could it be open? Could I have it back?
I'm sorry to be no person. You would agree he's a person. Okay. Shall be elected. He was elected to the office. That's the office for the president more than twice. Twice is once. And then another time, I don't, I don't see what the team is finding.
Okay, we'll just, I will disagree.
Bill, in 2014, you talk about long odds. In 2014, when I backed president Trump, when I was running Breitbart, they called, they said I turned Breitbart into Trump Pravda. Okay. The odds there, he, he, he pulled at zero. Then later in 2021, after he got back to Mar-a-Lago, when Fox abandoned him and the Murdoch's abandoned him, the Republican party abandoned him, the odds were longer then. So our group, the MAGA movement and the tip of the spear of the MAGA movement, we've had long odds before. We've come out winning twice and we're going to come out winning twice.
We've got long odds on this. We're going to come out winning a third time on the afternoon of the 20th of January, 2029. He's going to be.
All right. Again, on, on the evening of this debate, Joe Biden's going to come out and look sharp as a tack. It's, I mean, I don't know. Look, man, I will sit here and say this. If Steve Bannon is going to say that on January 21st, 2029, Donald Trump is going to be sworn in for his third
term, I will guarantee you on everything I own, if that is the case, it's because there was.
an election. It's the only way. Listen, I hate Donald Trump. At this point, I think I'm as anti
Donald Trump, essentially, as you can be. I think I'm more, I'm more against him than a resistance
lib in 2017. You know, I got good reasons, unlike them, but whatever. I can't stand the guy. I mean,
I literally like, I mean, I've never liked the guy, but I just, I think he's the biggest disaster,
you know, in modern American history at this point. I would love for him to run again. I would
love nothing more than Donald Trump. That's, if you hate Donald Trump's guts, there is nothing
that should make you happier than the idea of him running again. If you are a Donald Trump, but
anyway, Rob, I don't know. There's, he's got no argument here. He's just pathetically flailing
about how there, there could be an interpretation. It is clear as hell. Don't get me wrong. I wish
Bill Maher or Bannon for
that matter would read more than just those two sentences of the constitution, but there,
there's some other good stuff in there about who gets to declare war. But, um, there is no legal
interpretation that is going to say he's allowed to run again. And you are goddamn delusional to
think he would have any chance of winning Donald Trump, dude, like Donald Trump's approval rating
is around 20 points lower than it was when he got reelected. In what world do you think you can be
down 20 points? And, and,
even be competitive. Kamala Harris would route him in a landslide today. That's the reality.
So Bannon is just out of his mind. And he could say, oh, things looked really bad after January
6th, or when Trump was just a celebrity, the odds were very low he was going to win the presidency.
Rob, do I even need to point out that this is different? This is different. He didn't have a
track record of betraying his every stated promise. So I don't know. And you're also,
in those instances, not talking about tearing up the constitution. You're talking about just
the odds of winning. You're not talking about we're going to violate the, yeah. I have a lot
of thoughts on this. I'll just start with, you know, when this first, when the storyline first
came out of Trump's going to go for a third term, I actually had a big fight on a phone call with
a friend of mine where I was like, I don't care. Like we have so much time between now
and the end of his presidency. And for that, even to be a conversation, he'd have to be pulling so
much weight on himself. And I think that's why the economy would have to be doing great. Like if
let's just say Trump won the Iran war in two days and he ended the Ukraine war within two weeks and
our economy was doing the best that it ever could. There would, there could be a conversation about,
should we be amending the constitution? Because this is the greatest thing that ever happened.
Should be running his vice presidents that he could stay in office. That's and, and it would
be a dumb conversation because that the rules, the role, and whether or not there's enough people in
Congress or whatever, that they want to amend the constitution, you could just find out whether or
not they're going to do it, but there'd at least be a conversation there at the moment, this guy's
not winning an election. And if you change the rule for a third time, presidency, guess what?
Obama's going to wipe the floor with Trump. Talk, talk about a fun debate. It's a, and I will sit
out that election cycle. I quit the show. If it's Obama versus Trump, I don't want to do politics
anymore. That is boring. I got no interest. We're going to Key West, Rob. Yeah, we're done.
We're going to buy a little comedy room, Rob. We're going to, this is what we're going to do.
We're going to pull all our money together by a little comedy club, maybe not in Key West. Cause
they already got one there. One of the other keys we're going to drink drinks out of coconuts. And
we're just going to live in one room, me, you, my wife and kids, that's it. We're out. We have
very little money coming in now, Rob, but if you guys want to come see us, come down to the keys.
No, I mean, look, I mean, none of this is, this is just, this is ridiculous. It's not happening.
Uh, I wouldn't say Bannon's failing flailing here as much as he's just playing a stupid confidence
game around a stupid conversation. Uh, but I think the only thing that isn't is a path to this
happening is what you were describing is that Donald Trump just goes straight dictatorship and
we have a much bigger problem on our hands, which is not going to happen either. I mean, I don't
think he has control of the military like that. It's also just not like there are certain things
that maybe one day in the future, you know, we're going to lose a lot of money. I mean, we're going
to lose a lot of money. I mean, we're going to lose a
a lot of money. But in today's America, it's like the idea of Donald Trump just installing himself as a dictator.
Look, government is largely dictatorial, all forms of government.
Even dictatorships are always really oligarchies.
There's always a secret council that's behind with the dictator.
So I'm not even saying it's that drastic a change in the actual mechanisms of government.
In fact, Daryl Cooper was just making this really good point the other day about how empire and democracy are totally incompatible.
Because once you have an empire, what do you think?
You think the Pentagon is just going to let the people decide who the next war is against?
Like, no, you got to have Pentagon people deciding who the war is for.
But in the consciousness of the American, if you were to just say,
hey, we're going to suspend elections and just have one guy rule over it,
that just is incompatible to the way Americans think about themselves and believe their system operates.
So, like, that's not happening.
But I think your point was a very good one.
And one of the things I think in your kind of prerequisites that you left out there,
but I think it goes very much in line with the spirit of what you're saying, right?
Like, if Venezuela was a big success and Iran was a big success and Ukraine was a big success and they were quick
and they were cheap and then he was able to focus on his domestic agenda
and prices were coming down and things were more affordable.
Like, if all of this was happening, well, what you're talking about, could we amend the Constitution?
But what's the biggest prerequisite for even having a conversation about amending the Constitution,
which would be downstream of those things that you just mentioned,
is dominant victories in the midterms, complete control of both houses of Congress.
You have to have that before we even start having the conversation about,
amending the Constitution.
You're about to lose the midterms, dude.
You need 75.
Am I getting this right?
I believe you need 75 percent in a vote for an amendment to the Constitution.
It's not just like passing a bill.
And then you've got to get it ratified by the states.
Like, it's a huge thing.
This is why there hasn't been a constitutional amendment in a long time.
You know?
And so, yeah, look, I think in a similar type of thing, I mean, obviously, this is much more substantial,
substantive.
Substantive, I think is the word I was looking for.
Anyway, they're like, that's a big deal if Donald Trump runs for president.
But it's kind of, Rob, it's kind of like renaming the lakes and the gulfs and all that shit.
You're like, dude, this would be fine as a cherry on top.
You know, like if you were if you were putting up wins and then you said,
and also Gulf of Mexico is Gulf of America.
OK, you know, like doing some wins and then having some Trump fun.
But when you just get into the dumbest like trade war with our biggest trading country to the north and then their response is just that they're going to reciprocate with tariffs against us.
And so you go, oh, yeah, well, now we're calling the lake Lake America.
You're like.
You're just a gigantic.
Like, what is this?
This is absolutely nothing like you literally it's not.
It went from being a thing of almost like, oh, you're twisting the knife after getting a win to now being like, wait, that's all you care.
About the vanity of it.
Well, that's like, what are you, a woman?
Sorry.
Sorry, women.
I know there's a few of you who listen, but like what?
I don't know.
I just find that to be like, you know, it's.
It's like these all these things like, yeah, dude, this is the move after you've you've delivered victories after you've won after when you got approvals in the 70s.
And now we go, hey, dude, look, man, he's got a 73 percent approval rating.
The economy's bum.
Buzzing the wars are over.
But you're saying you're you're going to just have a disaster.
And then I think this this really is, to me, the heart of it is like how delusional people like Bannon are.
Your guy's going down in flames and you're talking about him breaking George Washington's precedent.
Seems unlikely to me.
I mean, I understand FDR ran for president a bunch of times and it wasn't, you know, the law of the land until it was officially put into the Constitution.
But there's never been a president.
And who was the last president?
FDR?
I think FDR was the last president who served over two terms.
You know, you're going it's 100 years.
This is this is goofy.
None of it's going to happen.
I also I mean, with the with the way that this presidency is headed, I think I don't think Marco Rubio or J.D.
Vance can win the election unless it's against Gavin Newsom or AOC, in which case I do think that there is a possibility for it.
But if.
If Donald Trump sticks around and goes, I'm actually going to be running the party, I'm not allowed to be president.
Firstly, he's getting old and crazy.
So I don't even know if he's going to be in a situation for the age.
Yeah, Jesus.
Good.
I also think Donald Trump played ball this time around and he's looking to take a part in and enjoy his wealth.
I don't really think that he wants to do this endlessly.
And particularly as he's not winning at the moment and his whole thing is pretending to win.
I got to assume even for Trump, that gets exhausting.
You know what I mean?
Like, I don't I don't think you know what I mean?
At some point, I don't think Trump enjoys going on the news every day and pretending like he's winning when he's not.
It might be more fun when you're actually winning.
But the way you're currently doing, I got to assume that this Donald Trump doesn't seem he doesn't seem like he's enjoyed this last year.
year it seems like he's been stuck it really seemed like he enjoyed the year before that
and uh i so you know i i unless they're going full dick to dictatorship which uh i think's a
tough pathway and i don't think trump will get away with it this is just what i mean what is
bannon doing what's the point yes i mean i don't know they've got to get on the tv show and go hey
i'm still the most loyal supporter of trump i'm still absolutely so behind everything that's
happening right now i still think that we need him to be president in three years even though
it's against our constitution i guess that's it it's just some sales bluster all right guys let's

PrizePix, run your game. Yeah. And I mean, really,
I think essentially the only effect of this, much like with Joe Biden and when people would go out
there and say, Joe Biden is sharp as a tack and he's going to be amazing in this debate. The only
effect that had was just ruining the game. And I think that's the only effect that had was just
ruining the game. And
that person's credibility. And likewise, I just think the only effect this has is just
absolutely destroying Steve Bannon's credibility for all of the future. Like, you know, and he,
you know, Steve, Steve Bannon was a kind of interesting guy. You know, a lot of the
economic populism, a lot of the anti-war stuff in Donald Trump's 2016 campaign came from him.
Um, but like you're okay. So you're on record now saying that like what Trump, Trump,
Trump's doing a great, he's doing such a great job that he should get another term. That's what
you think about this. Okay. We've got Jeffrey Epstein's dear friend to say, I think it's been
a great last year. Oh, that should, that should really be successful. I'm guessing it's a trying
to pull a trick here of people, the conversation shifting to the Trump supporters still think that
Trump is doing so well that he should remain president against the constitution instead of
having a conversation about all the failures.
Uh, the problem with when you put up that much bluster, it's a little bit like when
Netanyahu was making statements that Israel or Israel supporters were saying that they're
the most moral army. And then sometimes you just piss people off. Cause you're like, well,
you're definitely not that. And then people start digging in and go, well, fuck you. You're lying
to my face. And so the most moral army, it's unbelievable. So whatever Bannon's trying to do
here, I think is a, uh, it's a, it's a foolish marketing trip, uh, trick. And my guess is it's
I mean, I don't see this working, and it just seems so unbelievably dumb.
Did you, I mean, by the way, I was about to say, did you see?
But yes, I know you saw because you emailed it to me earlier today.
Well, I had seen it on social media, but there's this video going super viral today.
It's the number one trending thing on Twitter right now, on X right now.
And I guess the video is not worth playing on the podcast because it's not in English.
But Benjamin Netanyahu has given, I think, what is a campaign speech over in Israel,
and he's just straight up bragging about how he got Trump to launch the war on Iran.
Like, just no, I mean, it really is just this unbelievable dynamic.
I mean, Rob, there is literally no difference between the statement he's making
and the confidence he's making it with.
And what I say, we're both saying the exact same thing.
Like, it's really unbelievable.
People, this is the dynamic, right?
It's constantly this dynamic.
It's someone like me goes, hey, the Israel lobby just unseated a democratically elected congressman in Kentucky.
And they go, dude, it had nothing to do with the Israel lobby.
Like, that's just an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory.
It's just that Trump didn't endorse him, and that's why Trump's really popular, blah, blah.
And then John Podharis goes, the Jewish money came in and took him out.
Randy Fine goes, the Jews came in and took him out.
And you're like, wait a minute.
So it's offensive when I say it, if I'm opposed to it.
But then you can just agree that's true.
Dude, and I'm sorry, but this plays right into the Bannon point, too.
Dude, everybody sees this.
Everybody knows what just happened.
Donald Trump got sucked into a war on behalf of a foreign country.
The leader of that foreign country is openly acknowledged.
He's acknowledging this.
It is crazy, dude, to me that, like, people, you know, think about how many arguments I've been in over the years about Israel dragging America into war.
And that you might as well have the longest-serving prime minister in Israeli history sitting here going, I'm dragging you into war.
It's been my life's work.
I mean, what, Robin, I'm not really exaggerating much.
He basically says that.
He says, I had to push the Americans into war.
I spent.
Decades doing it.
Thousands of interviews.
Thousands of meetings.
Right from the horse's mouth.
Yeah, I think later in the interview, he also says, like, we were surrounded by enemies.
We can't go about this alone.
And you just got to put it together.
We're surrounded by enemies.
Luckily, I have a hold over the U.S. government, and I'm persuasive enough that I can get on their TV cameras all the time.
And I was able to push them to take out Iran and to treat Iran like the serious enemy that it is.
And.
And I guess that's a nice pitch to your country of, hey, we're milking this other country dry, and we're getting them to spend all this money over here because we can't go about it alone.
But then you hear that over here and you go, isn't that exactly what we're complaining about, that we're doing this on their behalf and that they're the junior partner and that they're bossing us around?
And why do they have so much influence?
And how do we benefit from this?
Isn't this exactly what we're complaining about is now this pitch to his country is, hey, look, look, I'm able to get these.
Suckers.
Yeah, yeah, I mean, this is dude, it really did remind me, of course, because this is the same man.
But if you remember that famous secret videotape of him also in Hebrew, I guess I guess it's not clear whether it's a secret videotape of it.
Like, it's not clear whether the kid like intentionally left the camera running or whether they accidentally left the camera running.
But anyway, there is a candid video of of Benjamin Netanyahu where he's bragging.
About how he moves the Americans and he and his own words were, it's ridiculous, because I can move the Americans, I can get them to do what I want.
And then he just like explains to all of them how he torpedoed the two state solution and that he's basically that he got all these poison pills into the agreement.
And so that, yeah, essentially, like we had made it so like I forget exactly what he says in the video, Rob.
But it was something like he goes, he goes, look, we got it.
Corridor.
Yes.
Israel has control over the defensive corridor, which he can define as whatever.
I believe that was the language.
And then he says at one point, I think he goes, I define all of Area C as a defensive corridor, meaning like essentially a third of the West Bank.
I just decided.
So meaning there's no two state solution.
You'll never get Palestine.
You'll never like and he's just he's openly bragging about that.
And like, look, that one is at least he doesn't think he's being recorded.
This one.
He knows he's being recorded.
Now he's speaking in Hebrew.
I mean, they're very conscious of that.
Like you listen to what Netanyahu says in Hebrew and what he says in English.
And it is like that's what he wants to tell the Israelis.
And that's what he wants to tell the Americans, which makes sense.
But, yeah, he's just openly saying, yeah, we moved the Americans.
We wanted this war.
And so we got it.
You would think, you know, now that the war is going so bad, he'd be hesitant to say that.
It's a again.
Oh, I guess.
He's just getting America stuck in this mess because he does say in the speech quite a few times that we need regime change there, which is a different goal than, you know, what what what Trump is looking to stand by.
And so, you know, I guess this is going going to plan for Netanyahu.
He's got a stuck in a mess.
All right.
I cannot, you know, look, I did so many like high profile debates around the 12 day war.
And rather, it's just it's unbelievable.
This always just works this way to the I can't tell you.
I mean, I know you saw some of these.
My argument would always be last summer, a year and two months ago or whatever it is now that I'd go, guys.
Donald Trump may think that this is just about hitting the nuclear sites, but this is about
regime change. And that is the goal of the Israelis. And that was the topic of debate.
All the defenders of the 12 day war said that's not true, Dave. They're just worried about their
nuclear ambitions. Nobody's talking about regime change. This isn't. What do you think? He's George
W. Bush. No one's talking about a regime change war. We're just talking about hitting their
nuclear facilities. I like I don't know, a year later. Now they just openly say that it was of
course it was always about regime change. Like, yes, actually, he basically is George W. Bush.
You know why? Because it's still Benjamin Netanyahu. That's why. And so our government
still has to be George W. Bush, even though the entire American people reject that.
And voted for this government largely because they ran against all of that stuff. But,
you know,
I don't know. I mean, I don't know what you can say about this. It's just both with Benjamin
Netanyahu and with Steve Bannon, with all of them. This is this is peak wokeism level delusions
on the Republican side now, you know, like at the very least, Rob, right? When you announce
that, right, this I mean, this is just real objective, real easy. If you announce the goal
of this war is regime change, the people should.
Rise up and take control of the government. We will be extracting all the nuclear dust. We will
be ending the nuclear program. The Strait will be open. There's all this up. And it's over six
months later and none of those things have been achieved. You got to at least admit you go, OK,
that that part's tough. So that's going to be you know what I mean? Like you launch a war of choice
and you didn't achieve any of the things. It's six months later. A lot of people have died.
A lot of money has been wasted. OK, now, look, if you want to argue, hey,
we're still going to achieve all those goals in the next three months and this will be worth it.
Fine. But to pretend as it's it's pretending Joe Biden's economy was great. They literally said
that as we had as we had the highest inflation of our lifetimes. They went, no, it's great.
So like, yeah, they can I guess they can look at this war and say, yeah, it's great.
But that didn't work with Joe Biden. It's not going to work here either, man.
All right, guys, let's take a moment and thank our sponsor for today's show, which is superpower.

All right. Let's get back into the show.
You know, the it is almost even worth mentioning just for a minute, Rob, you see the situation with Canada,
because it is and I know you said you hadn't been following it super closely, but just essentially just to know the.
So essentially, Donald Trump announces these huge tariffs, like 50 percent tariffs on a few billion dollars worth of Canadian goods.
And the Canadians turned around and said, OK, then we're doing reciprocal tariffs on all of that.
So that's the where we are now. And then Donald Trump said he's going to rename the lake and then started talking shit and all this.
But like I just look, I guess in some like I'm anti tariff in general, like I always said with you.
And I think we had a lot more leniency at the very beginning of Trump's administration when there was some thought that maybe he'd do something decent that you go.
Look, while tariffs are bad economic policy, in theory, you could get a government maybe to do something that you want them to do by threatening them with tariffs or something.
Like maybe you can extract some concessions.
And if you remember, Rob, it was reported during Trump's first term that at one of the G7 meetings, he threw out the suggestion that he goes, hey, you guys are also against my tariffs.
Why don't we all just agree to not have tariffs anymore? And I'll do that because the point in Donald Trump's, you know, his vision of economics.
I guess the argument being that, like, we have to have the tariffs because you have tariffs on our stuff.
So it's unfair that you don't have tariffs.
But like, Rob, I'm just saying if that's like that's the best, almost like use of tariffs you could have is to go, hey, I'm going to tariff you unless you bring your tariffs down.
And then if the end result is we all bring our tariffs down, that actually is better economic policy.
But my point is here, some people, I suppose, would argue that, no, there's a benefit in tariffs because they protect American business.
Now, me and you would both, I think, think this is a very flawed argument.
It's just.
This is a very flawed argument.
You could go to Henry Hazlitt here.
This is you're arguing that the sun is putting the candle makers out of business.
Like, I don't agree with that.
I think it's goofy.
That being said, if you do believe that, Rob, right, like if you're a protectionist, if you believe so, you would say, well, look, dude, if we have if we have tariffs on foreign steel, then our domestic steel producers will benefit because of that.
Now, someone like you, Rob, who's thought about these things.
You might point out, like, yeah, but what about the consumer?
What about the producers who use steel?
Right.
So, like, they may buy foreign steel, but then produce things in America.
And now they get the cost of their steel.
So, like, you have to.
But if you had the mindset that protectionism is good because it protects industry, you would have to admit, Rob, with that mindset that foreign tariffs are bad.
Right.
Because that's hurting your industry when you try to export it, because now it's more expensive for other people to consume.
And so even if you think.
That tariffs help us, but their tariffs hurt us.
Well, then we just got their tariffs raised.
So this also just hurt us.
Anyway, my point is, if you actually look at sound economics, it could maybe be a reasonable idea to threaten tariffs and then get everyone to lower their tariffs.
But, Rob, when you just go into our biggest trading partner to the north and put a bunch of tariffs on and then they raise their tax, that would be the exact opposite.
That would be both sides just raising their tariffs.
So what we literally just.
What we literally just accomplished out of all of this was both the Canadian government and the American government working to hurt the Canadian economy and the American economy and Donald Trump renaming a lake.
That's what he accomplished with Canada over the last 48 hours.
And it's just on top of everything else.
It's just like, guys, this is like painfully stupid.
It's painfully stupid.
And real people will actually suffer as a result of this.
So anyway, it's just at least as of right now, just the worst result.
It could have.
It could have been in terms of a little mini trade war.
I just laughed when I saw the headline, because my takeaway was, why are you stirring up this shit now?
You got enough on your plate.
You got enough.
That's not going well.
Why are we poking the Canada problem?
Just just let that sit for a while and solve the other problems first.
Why do you want this one on your plate, too?
Yeah, you got to know you've made enough of a mess out of everything else.
And also the fact that he was doing it the same week while he's putting a pause on his beef tariffs because beef prices were going up.
It didn't really make sense.
Apparently, I guess whatever.
When you walk into a grocery store tomorrow and you look at whatever the price of beef is, I guess in Donald Trump centralized economy, that's exactly where he thinks the beef price should be, because now's the time that he's going to change the tariff because he realizes this is the ideal beef price.
That's what happens with central planning.
He didn't want any lower because then we could have been importing beef this whole time.
And this is at his discretion because he's perfect at in whatever manner.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He's perfect at in whatever move he makes in any direction.
And so this is Donald Trump saying this is his ideal beef price.
Yeah.
No, I mean, look, this is what this is what it all comes down to.
It's all just different forms of price fixing, man.
It's all the intervention is government policy can ever do is just change the price of something.
And every time they're changing the price, they're changing it away from closer to what the market, you know, equilibrium was, which is where you maximize efficiency.
So, you know, it's interesting, even as you say that, you know, you're going to have to think about it.
You know, you go like, why pick another fight right now when you got all this?
And it's it is weird, like leaders act this way when they're going down, dude.
You know, you think about it.
I always to me, I always thought the craziest part of World War Two.
Was that after?
Yeah.
um japan attacked america at pearl harvey at pearl harbor excuse me that was a nicer way to say it
at all pearl harvey um adolf hitler declared war on america which was crazy like we didn't we got
attacked by a different country and he was already at war like he he was already had his hands full
like it was almost you know in hindsight it was such a self-destructive move you know because
then that then uh um fdr declared war again or excuse me i'm i'm so sorry i got stuck in modern
american brain and i forgot that we were still somewhat of a constitutional republic the congress
declared war um that's the last declared war uh and they declared war on hitler and the fact that
he had declared war enough was another you know like after pearl harbor it was clear
we're getting into the war but wasn't exactly clear like certainly i think fdr really wanted
to get into the war in europe but at least hitler declaring war on us certainly gave a pr boost to
be able to say well hey we were attacked and then he declared war on us so we're in this world war
now but like it is kind of crazy like the one of the things that's kind of fascinating about
adolf hitler is that there were several points where he probably could have just chilled you
know like like when he i mean okay he took poland england declares war on him but he's got a he's got
a peace deal with stalin still he's not at war with america still you know like he's fine he could
have just held he takes france he could have held from france to poland and just had it then he
invaded the soviet union declares war on america you know like this is insane so it's like i don't
know like it there is something kind of interesting even as you say obviously i'm not saying trump's
thing but there's like this little mini version of like as you're spiraling you kind of like try
to go for it more and more and more and more you get more desperate so you have to make a bigger
move you know you need like um uh because you're down bigger now you need a bigger shot so you
got to take a bigger risk and things can spiral out of control but yeah seems like a pretty poor
time to just pick a trade war for no reason all right well we're gonna have to call it a show
there guys uh thank you so much for listening and we'll be back tomorrow with a brand new episode
peace
you
