Trump Responds to Midterm Defeat as Democrats Gain Control of Congress

Democrats are poised to achieve a historic victory in the midterms, gaining control of both the U.S. House and Senate with a commanding majority in the Senate and substantial gains in the House. This shift is underscored by sweeping state-level wins, including Texas, Georgia, and Michigan, where Democrats took control of state legislatures and governorships. Despite Donald Trump’s assertions that polls are "fake" and his claims of being "on the ballot," actual election results closely match projections from major outlets like CNN and Fox, which had accurately forecasted the outcomes. Trump responded with denial and inflammatory rhetoric, including baseless claims about Greenland and attacks on Fox News, while downplaying the significance of his defeat. However, the political momentum reflects widespread voter disillusionment with Republican economic policies, particularly on gas prices and healthcare, and a growing support for populist messages about economic inequality. In response, Democratic leaders, including new House Oversight Chair Robert Garcia, have issued strong signals of accountability and assertive governance—such as “lawyer up”—to challenge former administration policies. The results mark a decisive political realignment, signaling a new era of Democratic influence and a significant backlash against Trump’s long-standing leadership style and policy narratives.

Donald Trump now facing the worst defeat in presidential history during a midterm elections. Democrats will take control of both chambers, the House of Representatives and the United States Senate. In the Senate, Democrats will take at least 55 seats, a commanding majority there. In the House of Representatives, Democrats likely will take about 255 seats, folks, perhaps even more over there. And when you look at some of the state legislative races as well, Democrats just won the Texas statewide races. They won the Texas House. They won the Texas Senate. Democrats also flipped control of the state house in North Carolina. Democrats flipped the Georgia state house. Democrats flipped the New Hampshire state house. Democrats took back control of the Michigan state house. The biggest state legislative victory as well by Democrats, not just at the federal level, and then all of the governor's races that Democrats won as well. We made this super cut right here of Donald Trump at the rally saying the polls are fake and ranting and raving like a lunatic. And then we contrasted it with the actual results. Let's play this clip and I'm going to show you that Donald Trump ain't handling this well at all. Let me show you this. Let's play this clip. Except for the fake polls out there, my poll numbers are great. No, they have such fake polls. CNN projects that Democrat John Ossoff will win the Senate race. Keisha Lance Bottoms will become the next governor of Georgia. You can dismiss the polls, okay? The polls are wrong. Don't buy it. I'm telling you, I'm on the ground in the swing districts. I am seeing huge energy in crowds. It feels like 2024 to me. Amy Atkins. Gina Hinojosa makes history. James Tallarico. We just took back Texas. Roger Marshall. He's one of the best senators. I think he's tied or up by a little bit. Hamilton will defeat the Republican incumbent, Senator Roger Marshall. They poll way too many Democrats. Chris Pappas. Jocelyn Benson. Amy Klobuchar. Deb Haaland. Zach Dembo. Paige Cognetti. Democrats will win control of the House of Representatives. They were made up. Fake. Rob Sand, Democrat Josh Turek will win the Senate seat in Iowa. I know I'm only 26 years old. But I've never seen a poll that was real. Every single one is fake. Why are we suddenly going to start believing that these polls are actually showing reality? Democrats will win control of the U.S. Senate. Frankly, I think The Times should be prosecuted for that. Roy Cooper will win. Democrat Peggy Flanagan will win. Senator Susan Collins has called Democratic Senate nominee Troy Jackson to concede. You know, we have sent a thousand pollsters all over the country. I'll bet you some guy says that Michigan, we did it. And I examined his ass. The green, that's not grass, that's algae. Oh, baby. Oh, mom. Oh, pretend that I'm on the ballot. I'm on the ballot. I don't like to consider it a defeat for me. I was on the ballot. So Donald Trump called into state regime media, which calls itself Fox. After this stunning defeat, which actually wasn't all that stunning. If you've been following what's been happening over here and Donald Trump was like, I got Greenland, I got Greenland here, play this clip Greenland. You know, everybody said, oh, Greenland, Greenland. He's not going to get I got Greenland. We have Greenland and nobody talks about it. Greenland is massively rich. And we made a deal on Greenland. I didn't have to go to war to do it. That's what I do. I make deals. We've made we've done things that think of it. Greenland is three times the size of Texas. And we got it very little fanfare when we got it. Now, if I didn't get it, there'd be massive fanfare. I could tell you what we got it. And it's and it's permanent. It's forever. It's not like a hundred years. The J.C. You know, the the Obama nuclear thing is Obama. You didn't get Greenland. I have no clue what you're talking about. This is what you're ranting and raving about. After that massive loss, Donald Trump, though, did say, I guess I do have to say, congratulations to Democrats here play this clip. Take from tonight and a message to the American people. Well, I say this congratulations to the Democrats. They did a good job. They've been looking for this one for 11 years and they finally got it. But I don't view it as a hit on me. I think we've done a we've had the greatest two years in the history of the presidency. Can we take a look, folks, at what's happening in Austin right now where there are celebrations like like the Super Bowl was just won in Austin, by the way, this reminds me of almost like a toppling of an authoritarian regime, right? You think about what just took place in Texas where Democrats took control of the statehouse, the state Senate, all of the major statewide races. Democrats won the governor's mansion now in the control of Gina Hinojosa, the governor elect as Abbott tapped out. Then you had James Tallarico with the major victory over Ken Paxton as well. Let's show some of these celebrations. In Austin, let's play it. Elon Musk, who moved his businesses to Texas and injected like a billion dollars into all of these races with a lot of focus on Texas, say goodbye to that money. Right there, Elon Musk is saying data centers in space looking pretty appealing right now. Meanwhile, Congresswoman Yasmin Asari, Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, says thank you, Mr. President, or thank you. Our thank you will come in January with subpoenas. Democratic Congress member Garcia, who will be the new chair of the House Oversight Committee, says lawyer up. Here's the official statement from incoming chairman of the U.S. House Oversight Committee, Congress member Robert Garcia. Today, Representative Garcia, ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, following the win, Garcia will become the chairman of the House Oversight Committee. His statement is simple lawyer up. And here's the moment that state regime media, Fox, heard that that's what Garcia said. Here, play this clip point. What what could be the incoming oversight chairman, Robert Garcia, just put a statement out if they go on to secure the majority in the House. He would be the chairman of the Oversight Committee. He has. Two words, quote, lawyer up as the message of Harold. So, I mean, they're sending the signal that it's going to be a bumpy ride. And that's the choice that at least Robert Garcia is making. Meanwhile, Donald Trump, when he was on the call with state regime media, Fox and live TV is like, all your polls are terrible. And then Brett Baier's like, yeah, but we were right. We predicted that there was going to be this wave. So how are we how are we wrong? And our polls are terrible. Donald Trump's like, I don't know about that. Here, play this clip that I shouldn't say this, but Abraham Lincoln was at eight percent, Ronald Reagan was at 13 percent and Trump was at like 54 percent. And then I read it. Fox said, I'm not popular. You know, I mean, the Fox polls are terrible. You ought to get yourself a good pollster because your pulse is the worst. But tonight, actually, the results are pretty close to what the Fox polls show. Well, I don't know about that. I can just tell you about speaking for myself. And the results with Fox with me were wrong for 12 years. I mean, they've gotten me wrong for 12 years. But Brett Baier asked Donald Trump if he's going to accept all of the results of the election. Let's play it. But you're going to accept all these races, right? Yeah, sure, I'll accept them. Why wouldn't I? But let me ask you this. Caroline Leavitt, she had a perspective that that she goes, I just think the American people didn't know what they were doing. And this was all one big mistake, she said. Play this clip. The president launched the operation in Iran. I remember being at the podium talking about how gasoline was a dollar ninety nine in states like Colorado. And that was because of his energy dominance plan, not the Democrats. So unfortunately, I think the American people forgot about the good policy, maybe listened to the lying media on the other side. That is definitely in the backseat of the Democrat Party. And the Democrats don't have policy. They know how much money they don't. So they got more money in their pockets because of the president's tax cuts. The Democrats voted against. But Trump was like, you know, I think Democrats did. He goes, I think Democrats did a good job. The blue tsunami was so big. That's what Donald Trump was left with saying. He goes, yeah, I think they did a good job. And I wasn't on the ballot here playing this clip. We didn't have your home state. You did well, two big wins, two of them that were a little closer than people thought they were going to be a lot. No, not a little. They were a lot closer. Yeah. So the issue that Martha mentioned about the war, clearly that's a message in some of the polls that we see in these exit polls that toward the bread, I think it's the gasoline price. People agree with what I'm doing on Iran, but they really probably weren't willing to do the short term consequence of playing, paying more for gasoline. And that, you know, I understand that it's like I don't agree with it. And I would say to people, you know, it's a short term. It's a short term problem, but for long term gain. But, you know, is it too bad? Hey, look, bottom line is they were not able in many cases to get the votes. And I think the. democrats did a good job i really do i think they did a good job they fought hard they were um you know they've been fighting for a long time they've been fighting me for a long time this fight's been going on for ages you know i started and really if you look at it i've been doing it for 12 years with them and i've come up on top all the time and this is i don't say you know i don't like to consider it a defeat for me i was on the ballot if you're on the ballot it's different than if you're not on the ballot but nevertheless you know i feel badly for a lot of very good republicans a lot of very good patriots that lost tonight because for them to lose is a tough thing president trump you said you've spoken with some of the democrats who won tonight where do you think you could work together and what would you like to accomplish if you can give us any except you would always say i am on the ballot vote for me like i am on the ballot just i'll give you an example of one of those speeches let's play it i want you to do me one big favor pretend that i'm on the ballot pretend that i'm on the ballot because we get a lot more votes i really am on the ballot meanwhile in israel netanyahu is likely going to be out of power as well we know that gadi eisen caught the opposition leader from the ishar party forming uh a coalition government there with the arab bloc and israel central election committee said that it reviewed all of the complaints issued by netanyahu that the election was stolen and they said bs the election was not stolen take a look at this map though of the directional arrows of the country turning all blue in 2024 you can see the country moving red in 2026 all blue as this one account said do you realize how bad you have to govern for this to happen also shout out to beau bai over in indiana winning the secretary of state race there and pushing a lot of indiana races with him as well beau bai we all know the bai family from indiana and you know you look i interviewed beau bai early in this election cycle and uh to see you know beau win that race in indiana that's a big deal you had donald trump also posting uh ranting and raving like a lunatic about uh bill de blasio former mayor of new york city who's a fox pundit now and donald trump's like why does fox have bill de blasio the worst mayor of new york city who's a fox pundit now and donald trump is the best mayor in the history of new york on our on air ranting and raving like a lunatic he left the city in disgrace actually de blasio had a pretty good uh appearance on state regime media fox here's what he had to say here play this clip that's not what people are voting on we i've been on many fox programs i respect this network but i've got to tell you guys you're you're missing the plot the american people are looking at a war they do not believe in and they did not authorize they're looking at prices that are making it possible for middle-class people let alone working-class people to live they are losing their health care it's not about medicare for all some of us believe that'd be a good policy it's not going to happen tomorrow right now people can't get the health care they need so this is what's happening and republican party had an opportunity to speak to it the congress had an opportunity to legislate they did not do it in this last year so i think republicans in florida there's plenty of republicans tonight who said i am not getting what i expected from this president but they had a choice before the more moderate candidate and they chose to let go of hayley stevens and go with a democratic populist a populist economic message that says our economy is rigged i mean bernie started this 10 years ago our economy is rigged and a small group of billionaires has too much power in this country there's a hell of a lot of republicans and independents who agree with that message and they made that clear to which donald trump said i'm going to become a political pundit both good and bad on the reasons these candidates won and lost then donald trump's posting weird ai hats that say veto veto very odd right there and then christy gnome former department of homeland security secretary who's obviously going to be the subject of a lot of investigations in the house and the senate she said larry kudlaw is correct we were too successful the first year of the trump administration senator maggie hassan who's going to be the chair of the department of homeland security committee who's going to be investigating christy gnome senator hassan said want to say that under oath want to say that under oath anyway we'll leave you with that folks big day big victory massive defeat for donald trump let me know what you think get
