Trump Is Running His Administration Like a Male Beauty Pageant

The transcript blends promotional content for Crown Coins, where real users win big prizes with a free lucky wheel bonus, and in-depth political commentary. Host Sam Stein analyzes Donald Trump’s persistent focus on male physical appearances during rallies, suggesting it reflects vanity, superficiality, or deeper psychological tendencies. He contrasts this with James Talarico’s campaign in Texas, which promotes a new, collaborative form of politics aimed at uniting voters across party lines. Talarico’s strategy differs from Beto O’Rourke’s progressive outreach, positioning him as a movement candidate focused on national unity and pragmatic solutions. The commentary emphasizes how Trump’s attention to personal appearances undermines his focus on critical issues like inflation, war, and corruption. The political environment in Texas is viewed as favorable due to strong opposition from Republican candidates like Ken Paxton. Additionally, the segment promotes Zocdoc as a convenient, free tool for finding doctors, highlighting the importance of accessible healthcare. Together, the content combines entertainment, promotion, and political analysis to critique leadership style and explore alternative political visions.

end of our fall tour we got a show tonight in atlanta you should check it out it's at the eastern it's gonna be great it's our last show i think there's a few tickets left if you're running get them but before i do that i want to just share with you a clip that i did an interview on nicole wallace's show yesterday afternoon where we talked about a lot of different things but mostly about donald trump's infatuation with the male physique you know we've run through this a couple of times and we've talked about a lot of different things but mostly about donald trump's infatuation with the male physique you know we've run through this a couple of times here on bulwark takes but if you step back and you think about it it's kind of fascinating that donald trump can't stop complimenting the looks of the men he's campaigning with well really just the republicans i mean we're talking about john husted's ass a couple candidates jaw lines a beard here and there he's just insatiable what does it mean i don't really know maybe it's a sign that he's just getting old can't really stick with it maybe it's a sign that he just loves the male look maybe it's a sign of jealousy maybe it's projection we dove into that with nicole and then there was a second segment that we did where we talked about james talarico's campaign so talarico is obviously in a close race with ken paxton coming down to the wyoming texas texas had their first day of early voting on monday looks like there's going to be a large turnout the thing that i noticed which is interesting about talarico is that he's doing something a little bit different than beto and i don't want to just you know give away everything i said on the show you'll listen to that too but more or less beta was trying to rile up the kind of obama-esque politics reaching across the aisle appealing appealing can't get that word out to common sense among voters saying you know we could craft a different type of politics it doesn't have to be this way will it work i don't know it's going to be a close one anyways stay tuned watch the show hope you like it send me some comments if you don't i'll try to read them try to up my game if necessary and as always do subscribe to the bulwark youtube feed where you get great takes just like this you know follow my favorite time of year although i did recently complain that we're getting less and less fall it's kind of annoying but between halloween thanksgiving and just getting together with family and friends for the holidays there's just so much to look forward to the last thing i'd want is to get sick and spend that time stuck in bed instead of enjoying it with a nice cup of coffee you know walking in those leaves crunching beneath your feet that's also a good reminder that taking care of my health matters even when life gets busy and when it comes to finding a doctor that's where zocdoc comes in makes it easy to search for in-network doctors nearby to compare reviews from real patients and to see actual appointment openings there are more than 150 000 providers across 200 plus specialties in all 50 states and appointments can often be booked within 24 to 72 hours sometimes even the same day best of all it's free to use taking care of my health shouldn't feel like another full-time job and zocdoc makes finding the right doctor a whole lot easier ready to be seen head to zocdoc.com forward takes get started and check that appointment off the to-do list that's z-o-c-d-o-c.com forward takes i've watched a lot of the speeches given by democratic candidates and of course they vary by district to district state to state but but that is the best crystallization of what they're arguing and i think the line most devastating to donald trump is that donald trump is oblivious to the collapse of his own presidency that the news part of that is that he is not part of any effort to stop it or slow it and that to me is what the obsession and the fact that everyone around him is letting him sound so foolishly shallow going on and on really really babbling in the appearance of all the men he's stumping for yeah i mean i can't top claire and dissecting trump's personal tastes and looks but i i agree with her i think there is a proclivity that he has to just focus on things he likes and that's really coming forward i mean he has always been about uh superficiality uh about men's looks i don't need to remind you what he said about arnold palmer uh during his first term you can look it up if you're into that but it's becoming more and more frequent and i think what's jarring here is that he's going on these side vanity projects right at a time when there are real consequential issues happening across the country right cost of living gas the iran war what's happening in ukraine the tragedy that's happening in ukraine his decision to side with russia and here you have a guy who can't go a rally without talking about john houston's ass who is obsessed with revamping a public recreational golf course in washington dc who is hosting meetings in the white house where his personal attorney is coming to him saying hey another one of your associates rick grinnell has stolen seven million dollars or so six million that was meant for the kennedy center i mean these are not things that a president would focus on in any given time it's certainly not something a president will focus on when you're two weeks out from an election that's going to be decided on issues of affordability and corruption and yet donald trump can't help himself he cannot go through a row without commenting on a man's looks and he spends his time on these weird vanity projects as a massive fan of friday night lights like it's it's not a mantle that every candidate can wrap themselves in but for the campaign that talarico has run and the message that he is closing on it feels like a perfect encapsulation of the movement he's trying to build i mean he's definitely a movement candidate in texas that's right um you know he's taken some stances against the democratic party to try to make sure that voters who are um you know reluctant to cast votes for democrats recognize him as not just down the line d that said i think overwhelmingly on the macro level he is trying to position himself as a candidate kind of in the obama mold if i have to say so or someone who says you know that's not a there's differences between us but they are overcome by the agreements that we need a new type of politics that we don't have to be at each other's throats all the time that texas can be better if you work together uh you know that's different fundamentally i think and i could be wrong but it is fundamentally different than what beta was doing in 2018 and that's the closest approximation to what we have beta was running sort of as an unapologetic progressive making the case that in fact if you could just activate progressive voters in texas but there were enough of them who weren't necessarily politically motivated that you could get them motivated and you could win and beta came close but he didn't win valerico has not done that and i'm very curious to see if it pays off strategically i agree with everyone that he's fortunate in a way that he's running in the cycle because ken paxton is such a bad candidate uh the dubai party uh being the cherry on top uh and the climate is so bad for republicans and trump donald trump is so toxic and the idea that carl rove is a rhino i mean it's absurd right like we're talking about insane things here can't tell rico's message work in that climate this might be the only climate where it could work winning never sounded so good what would you do if you want big at crown coins
