We talk to our team on the ground there for the event. I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire executive editor John Bickley. It's Thursday, September 10th, and this is Morning Wire. The Lindsey Clancy jurors make the media rounds revealing what went on behind the scenes of the event. Not sure if rogue is the right word, Sue, but he had the hardest time getting off the fact that Lindsey viciously killed her children. Meanwhile, her attorney is now trying to get the entire case dismissed. And the one-year memorial for Charlie Kirk takes place today on the campus where he was killed. We look at his legacy and the growth of the organization he founded. Life goes by like this, and I don't want to live as a coward, and I don't want that for you either. Thanks for waking up with Morning Wire. Stay tuned. We have the news you need to know. The Republican National Convention kicked off yesterday in Dallas with President Trump closing out the night. Joining us from the event is our White House correspondent, Mary Margaret Olihan. Thanks for coming on. Thanks for having me. So we're a little jealous here because you guys get to be at the Daily Wire's bar and see, but we're stuck here in the studio. So first, set the scene for us. You know, how has it been so far? How's the energy? What's the mood like on the ground? Well, it is very high energy here in Dallas. It is, first of all, very, very, very hot. The past couple of days, it has been, I think, 100 degrees both days, and the security here is insane. So to get into the event alone, you have to walk pretty far, take a lot of different media routes. I'm seeing some of the Secret Service guys I normally see at the White House who are here. It is a very secure event because, of course, the president and the vice president are both here, but then all kinds of people that I typically see in D.C., politicians, commentators, media, they're all coming in and out of our Daily Wire bar and see event where we can host a lot of our programming and on different shows, and it's a lot of fun. Are you guys keeping it under control there at the bar and see? We're trying. We're trying. I think the tagline is to drink conservatively. Now, President Trump has been, for the past week, really hyping up this event, and he ended up headlining on Wednesday. Tell us about his remarks. So in the lead up to the RNC convention, we were expecting to hear from President Donald Trump on a lot of the progress that he's made throughout his administration so far, whether it's the border, peace in different nations around the world, the war with Iran, different initiatives that he has scheduled in the United States and focused on. And we expected to hear him contrast the progress that the United States has made since he took office to the extremism of some Democrats, especially Democrats, socialists, and more radical Democrats like Ocasio-Cortez. He did get into this a bit. Here's what he had to say on that point. And the United States Senate, both of them, because of our economic, tremendous economic success, I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000. So what about the media coverage so far? How has the legacy media approached this event? Well, that's been really interesting because a lot of people have said that it's a complete failure, that it would be strange and weird and that no one wanted to go. And that, honestly, associating with President Donald Trump was only a negative for Republicans. I found this really interesting because, you know, from my vantage point at the White House, I see a lot of the way legacy media coordinates on this sort of thing. And it instantly became apparent to me that there was an effort here to suggest that this RNC was meaningless. That is not the case. And what I've seen so far, it seems like a very important event that's intended to unify Republicans. And I think legacy media will see that as we progress throughout the rest of this event. But there's absolutely an interest here in tanking Republicans and in suggesting that this RNC, which is unusual, you know, you don't have a midterm RNC typically to suggest that this has no point and that Republicans are only digging themselves into a deeper hole, which I think many of us would strongly disagree with. Now, what do you and the rest of the Daily Wire team have your eyes on as far as day two? Day two, we're excited to hear from Vice President Jody Vance tonight. And I think one really important part of this will be that the Vice President obviously is a very strong contender for the GOP nomination. He is considered a front runner for the next presidential election. Obviously, this is not set in stone. But from what I hear at the White House, he is strongly favored, potentially even over Marco Rubio right now, even in the president's eyes. So a lot of eyes are going to be on Jody Vance when he speaks tonight. I'm excited to hear what he has to say and the vision that he'll present for the Republican Party on how they can win midterms. And then exactly what position he is encouraging them to put themselves in ahead of these elections. Well, you guys have a good time at that event. Don't have too much of a good time, but have fun. That's Q-U-I-N-C-E dot com slash wire. Quince jurors are speaking out after the trial ended in a hung jury last week while her attorney is turning heads with new declarations. Host of Daily Wire's That's So Criminal, Lyndon Blake, is here now with the new information that the jurors are sharing. So first, Lyndon, which jurors have come forward? So, so far, four women of the nine women on the jury have come forward, three together in a kind of group interview on NBC Boston. This happened on Tuesday and it was really eye-opening because it kind of peeled back the curtain and gave you a look at, from their point of view, what the dynamics were inside the deliberation room. And what stood out to me was how they felt about that lone juror, who they also identified as a man, you know, it was never formally identified, but the lone juror that was not going with the group on this not guilty by reason of insanity verdict. They were calling him arrogant. They were saying that he had doubt, but he just refused to apply it to the law and that even when they were given that dynamite charge to go back and see the other side, that he would never be able to do that. From someone else's point of view, they also kind of attacked the prosecution too. They said the prosecution came off as cold and lacked compassion in this murder case where three children were killed. Now, there were a couple of standout moments from this interview that have gone viral. Can you speak to that? Yeah, I think one that has really gone viral on technical terms is when they talked about some of the jurors having a nursing background and then using their nursing background to explain the evidence. That is a no-no. You have to look at what evidence is admitted during the trial and you go off that. You don't look at a report and say, well, from my day back in the hospital from five years ago, this would mean this. That is a no-go and that's where a lot of people were saying this jury was kind of tainted. There's a lot of times where we thought the jury was exposed, whether that be from someone trying to take pictures of them or other stuff like this. And then another part that has gone incredibly viral is when one of the women's, again, describing the lone juror, she said something along the lines of, I'm paraphrasing, that he couldn't seem to get past the fact that she viciously killed her children. And to me, it's one of those things where we know this is a very complicated case and we're not saying that it is, you know, black and white, but it was the way these jurors, I think, that struck a lot of people carried themselves on camera. There was a lot of giggling. There was a lot of just, a lot of at ease for a case as tragic as this. Now, what do we know about that. loan juror? Nothing, really. He hasn't come forward. They impounded the jury, so you can't see it. There's been plenty of people, including myself, wanting to do an interview with this loan juror. Will he ever come forward? I don't know, because we have seen the support for Clancy from the midway through this trial. Will this person submit themselves to the public eye like these women did? I don't know. Maybe, but it's hard to tell at this point. He could end up being a target. He could. Now, her lawyer, Kevin Reddington, did make some interesting appeals. Tell us about his latest attempt to defend his client. Yeah, so this is kind of what I call an obvious next move for Kevin Reddington. He's going to try to have the case dismissed, and he's saying it's on double jeopardy grounds, and he's saying that because he was saying the mistrial was avoidable. Remember, Kevin Reddington said, no, throw the juror out, the loan juror out, replace this juror, get back in the deliberation rooms. Let's not have this end in a mistrial. He's saying because of that, that the prosecution should not be able to try Lindsay again. The chances of this being thrown out, very small, but a lot of lawyers have said he could do it because of that one little section about how he was trying to avoid the mistrial, and it ended up happening anyways. All right. Well, I think a lot of people are ready for this story to be out of the headlines, a very difficult case to follow. Lyndon, thanks for reporting. Thanks. Today, Mark, we're going to talk about the Jury App. One year since Charlie Kirk was assassinated on the campus of Utah Valley University, a memorial titled Freedom Built to Last will be held at the same campus today. Charlie frequently invited Daily Wire culture reporter Megan Basham to speak at TPUSA events, and she joins us now to remember him. So, Megan, it's been a year since the assassination. How is Charlie Kirk being remembered now? You know, Georgia, I think on the right, he's remembered first as a husband and a father, of course. But also as a campus debater who built coalitions by treating young people as worth persuading rather than, you know, writing them off or denigrating them. And I think his supporters see a martyr for free speech and faith. And, you know, what has really not faded in the last 12 months is the personal loss for those who are closest to him. So Christian apologist Frank Turek mentored Charlie, and he was standing about 25 feet away when that shot was fired. And he put him in a position where he was able to say, you know, I'm going to do this. I'm going to put it this way. The first person I think of when I wake up is Charlie. The last person I think of before I fall asleep is Charlie. Some people call that PTSD, but I think that's misnamed because it's not a disorder. It's normal. You should, when you see something like that, think about it for quite a while. And I think that's true for all of us here at The Daily Wire who knew Charlie personally, but who weren't there that day. Now, Turning Point is returning to Utah. The Valley University to commemorate the anniversary of Charlie Kirk's death there on that campus. What's been the response to that decision? Well, you know, Frank Turek is actually going back himself, and he said that he sees it as an important thing to do, that it's a way to reclaim a place that's been associated now with something horrific, and instead to try to use it for something good. So he's already returned to speak there once, and today he's going to be joined by Glenn Beck and others for Turning Point's free freedom built to last memorial. Well, I think that that campus needs to be reclaimed for something good. I don't think we ought to abandon any place just because an evil person decided to carry out such a deed. We can go back there and try and bring healing to those people. Now, there were obviously questions after Charlie's murder about whether Turning Point could survive without him because he was just such a force behind it. What does the organization look like now a year on? Yeah, you know, certainly TPUSA has weathered a lot of conspiracy theorists who have been building their brands by attacking TPUSA. Yet by most measurable standards that we can look at, it's actually thriving. So Turning Point now says that it has a presence on more than 6,200 high school and college campuses. It's also building political infrastructure for the midterms and for 2028, and that includes plans to organize in all 99 Iowa counties. So Turek says that the organization has seen dramatic growth in campus groups and pastors and donors, and he's seeing it up close. They've grown dramatically due to this event. I mean, they went from 3,000 pastors to 12,000 pastors. They increased their campus groups, whether it's high school or college, dramatically. Nobody is going to replace Charlie. However, enough people can help to replace him. And so Erica is keeping a steady hand, moving the organization forward. Turek told us that when he first saw Erica in the emergency room about five hours after Charlie's murder, she embraced him and she told him, he loved you. Please don't let his legacy die. And so Turek says that's what he's trying to do. Now, last question, Megan. One thing we've seen very clearly over the past year is some increasingly brutal infighting on the right that in a lot of ways was kicked off by those events, but maybe were percolating before. How much of a role did we play in holding together the various factions that are now kind of pulling apart on the right? Yeah, I think that's one of the qualities about Charlie Kirk, Georgia, that we've only really begun to fully appreciate now that he's gone. So, you know, Charlie had relationships across these factions that sharply disagreed on things like foreign policy, on the direction of the conservative movement overall, and a lot of other issues. And Turek acknowledges that the movement is still suffering from Charlie's absence. Charlie was the coalition builder. Charlie could keep Ben Shapiro and Tucker Carlson in the same room and say to them, do you want to get 80% of what you want or 0%? There's nobody like that now. Of course, he knew everybody, right? And he could be trusted. And I think a lot of us who are witnessing that infighting that you referenced wish that he was still with us to build those bridges. But Turek told us that's why we have to start building these bridges in Charlie's honor. All right, well, we actually have an interview with Frank Turek that's going to be airing this weekend.
