Okay, last year I got down to 6.7 so I feel like I'm hitting the ball pretty nice at the moment. Not scoring great. The scores will happen so. I mean for me the most important thing for me is getting a playing golf once I'm doing that. I've won if I play good golf. That's a mega bonus for me so it's kind of where my golf philosophy sits. It's just great. Honestly we had a brutal winter in this part of the world. It's like January and February which is raining on stop so it's probably pretty because it's a matter of you guys over in the UK so just to be out playing now in conditions that are not a four club wind or rain is it's like getting really set at the shed. The chaos is getting really set at the shed after winter it's really good. That is a very Irish phrase and I like it. I've never heard it before. The cows being let out after the winter. I might say that to my son because he loves all the the kind of phrases that I come up with like one of the ones I use a lot is but it's like climbing the north face of the Iga and he's an eyes roll every time he hears me say that. So I might come up with that one. It's like the cows being let out after winter. You probably stress Iga into like a 12 seconds worth though. You say that to me. You've got I. Like a pirate. Brilliant. So okay so we've now discussed your handy capping golf so that's good. I tell you what I'm going to do very very quickly. It would be very very helpful. Right last week we had a winner. It was a gin-i-watt chaps. It was just the most amazing weekend. Paul knew this was coming. I knew that Matt Wallace was coming. Paul knew that this was coming. I'm a supporter of two football clubs in England. Ipswich Town who got promoted to the Premier League for the second time in three years. I also go and watch my local team Steve and Iich. They play in League 1 which is the third division in the UK or England. They qualified. I was at the game for the playoffs so League 1 playoffs. We're now into a semifinal against Stockport County and if you win over two leagues you basically get a trip to Wembley. Paul's already had a trip to Wembley with Luton. I might be able to get a trip to Wembley potentially. I think it's a week on Tuesday the second league. So the football results went for me and then Cam Young. Just pretty much. I mean you sent out a WhatsApp on Friday, Barry, which I started kind of shaking my fist at because I'm thinking you are seriously tempting for you. I knew you'd get a fight. I think it said something along the lines of he could win this by seven or eight. And you weren't far wrong really. Yeah. So yeah, Cam Young, 14 to one winner which I'm very pleased with. I actually said six or seven so I'm taking full credit for that tax master's team. Yeah, it was some performance. It just seemed so inevitable from even from Round 1. Guy was in complete control and I feel like a complete dummy for not following your wisdom last week. Just kind of looking for that mystery smart kind of or clever bet that you just went to completely ignoring the blinding the obvious which was Cam Young. Was it a price thing? Or was it the family who was sitting second in the old stable or not touching that? It was probably a little bit of yeah, probably a little bit of that and not fully kind of believing that he has either a leveled up or a b's on his hot 18 or 24 month streak at the moment. You just have to forget what you had in your head about a player as of like one year ago and what he is now is completely different animals. So I think I think what I might have if Jake Napa had withdrawn earlier in the week, I might have revisited a look around Cam Young, but because I had Napa in my head for this, that's where I kind of went with for the week. So that was kind of a bomber that he withdrew. But it doesn't take any way from Cam Young. I think anybody would have had to have gone to exceptional lengths to beat him last week. So exceptional pick. Nice, cruzy win as well. That's about the most stress-free win you'll ever have Steve, right? I mean they're rare anyway, aren't they? A win's rare, but that kind of win. I mean, it started to get a bit spotty when he bogged the first and then he called a penalty self on the fairway on two. You're thinking, "Oh, this could really go out of control." But once he'd, I mean, that is brilliant for the honesty of a gold professional, isn't it? It's cool that, it's cool that, that issue on the second fairway. But once he'd actually got over that, hit the approach to about 10 feet and nailed the putt for par. You think, "Mm, okay." And from that point on, it was just unbelievable. He gained 1.77 strokes per round with the putt. Yeah. 1.840 to green. So it was one of those very strange tournaments where 51% of his total strokes gained with T-Tegreen and 49% were on the greens. Yeah. So an incredible performance. He's certainly moved up a level, fantastic pick, by the way Steve, because to have someone just go and romp a gold tournament like that from wire to wire is very pleasing. And particularly when you've taken on a very strong favourite in the shape of Scotty Sheffler, who, if in a second again, didn't he? Yeah. In the trades made for a few weeks now. But yeah, very, very strong pick. And yeah, he's up to number three in the world and quite rightly he's playing that kind of level of goal for the moment. And he's going to be a very popular pick at the PGA Championship and potentially in the future majors to come for the remainder of this year if he stays in that kind of form. Scotty Sheffler is the four to one favourite for the PGA Championship on Tuesday morning, as you record this. Rory McElroy 8th to one, Cam Young 3rd favourite 11 to one, John Raul 16 to one, Zander and Bryson at 18s, and the hot hand that is Matt Fitzpatrick. You might think there's a bit of value here 20 to one on Matt Fitzpatrick. You're then out to Ludwig at 25s, Fleetwood at 28s, Moracawa, who's just withdrawn from the Quail Hollow Monday afternoon, American time on Monday morning, and Justin Rose at 33s. Actually, Betty market and then you're out to 50s on every body. I can hear Barry licking his lips already on some of these 50 to one, John. So, that's your betting market. I think I hate John Ram's price after his really poor masters. If anything, there's just more live chaos since then. It's going to be tough for him to go into a major with an anything approaching a clear mind. So, for me, that's an avoid until proven otherwise. Yeah, all of the live boys are going to have something on their mind, aren't they, over the next week, the ones that are involved at a runner-mink in a week's time. Interesting dilemma with those guys. We can talk about that in more detail at the end of this week with our PGA Championship research pod. Pull, take us through what happened in Turkey on the DP World Tour. Last week, Michael Lindbergh got his breakthrough, a big breakthrough win actually. You'd only won a couple of times in the challenge tour. Five, I think it was Nordic events over the years, something like that. Yes, this was certainly his biggest win. Again, it was one of those weeks where, and we get this so off one of the DP World Tour, and we got it again this week, actually, where you've got so little to go on in terms of the course of the history or how the course might play, that you're making assumptions and guesses almost. The start of the week has to how a course and what kind of player it will suit. And I was looking for accurate sorts last week and reading and listening to other people's views and thoughts on how that would play out last week. I think a lot of people went down the same kind of route that accuracy was going to be key. So whilst Lindbergh had finished third in China the week before, so it was clearly playing well. And it was an indecent shape. He was, if not the longest, one of the very longest players going into that tournament last week. And he was out, I did get this number, 110th on tour for driving accuracy going into last week. So you go through kind of due diligence with players that you think can and can't win a tournament based on the spec. And Lindbergh fell out at that point because he was almost the direct opposite of what I felt was going to be the winning formula last week. And of course he wins. There's golf betting for you. It kind of throws it entirely on its head. The course did play tricky. And you know, he 10 under was the number. So it wasn't as if the scoring got out of control. It was just he managed to find his way around that course in an appropriately aggressive fashion. Second for Green's Immigilation in the end, sick for scrambling. So those combinations work really nicely. Fifth for approach and second for Stokes, Ganty, to Green. So all aspects of his game were strong enough to negate the fact that he's a little bit wayward and he's more suited to big boy courses. But that hats off to him. And there were a handful of people I saw on social media at BACTIM and if you did, then you were getting north of 50 to one for a player that finished the third the week before in China. So that would have been a satisfying win I think for many. Lindbergh with that victory plus Bern Viesberger with his China victory and Jordan Gumburg were all added to the PGA Championship field as of Monday or Sunday. That's a nice bonus. Yeah, Viesberger, right? This will be his ninth PGA Championship appearance. Yeah, it's still only 40 years old. It's kind of gone through the peaks and troughs of a career at this point. But yeah, you know, I can remember him being in the final group. I'm pretty certain of this. Shoot me down. I'm pretty certain Viesberger played with Rory McRoy when he won a Valhalla on the PGA Championship. I think we're spot on about that. The Viesberger. Anything else to raise? Anything else of interest? We don't want to cont- we don't want to talk about Liv Surely. I mean, that could take forever. No, but your change is every day what story comes out. It washes out when it washes out and we'll see what happens. It's just I guess you have us on that tour at the moment. It's like that's very messy. Like you'd yes, it says it's fun to through the end of the year, but you know, a few weeks ago they said there was nothing I miss. So I think it's a very, it feels like a changing dynamic landscape and that it might not be fully sorted through the end of the year. They might decide to pull the plug sooner. Yes, isn't there a big gap in their schedule now? Which huge gap? Yeah, which will allow things to kind of potentially manifest. I heard that they're not playing. They're not paying suppliers. And that was a lot of the reason behind this new Orleans move plus the fact that no one had worked out that on the schedule it'd be about 39 degrees Celsius when they played every day. You know, Louisiana at that time of year is probably a place you shouldn't be playing golfing. But yeah, they're not playing suppliers apparently. So a lot of the key suppliers said, well, if you're not going to pay us, we're not going to, you know, we're not actually going to argue, you're not going to be able to use our services. So yeah, there's problems. Yeah, there's, I don't know, it's difficult to pick the truth out of the reports from the speculation, but there's certainly a lot of smoke and generally no smoke without fire. So we'll all sit back and observe what occurs over the next few days and weeks and months, but it does appear that everything's coming to a head which for the greater good may be the best solution. Now this week is absolutely packed full of golf. So DP World Tour, Paul will be taking you through his coverage of the Catalunya Championship. It's always one of my favourites because it's sponsored by Estrella Dahl. I don't mind them products. On On the PGA tour we have the Myrtle Beach Classic which is running alongside the truest championship and there should be a live event in Virginia which is happening just around the corner from a RONOMINK relatively geographically. So this PGA Championship market will move because there's a lot of moving parts this week. I've got a preview out for the Catalonia, I've got a preview out for the truest. I burn so many points each year on these alternate events on the PGA tour and rarely get a winner that I'm literally going through it at the moment and I'll be doing it later today to see if there's literally someone demanding that I back them for the Myrtle Beach. If I do that of course I will put a preview out across social media. I've got a couple of thoughts on that but I can't really mention them on the pod until I put the actual preview out there. So just keep your eye on the socials if I do find a player or couple that I want to back in that I will the Myrtle Beach. Not a bad tournament, I mean Ryan Fox won that last year and before that is Chris Gotter up. Now you want two decent winners. The Myrtle Beach Classic has thrown up two decent winners over its first two years. Let's crack first of all on with the truest championship. Now this is a very nomadic championship in it. It's been so many different titles over the year. The one I kind of remember is the previous one, the Wells Fargo Championship. So it's had plenty of different sponsors. It's had plenty of different courses as well. But its spiritual home is effectively Quail Hollow and we all know Quail Hollow. They had the 2019 PGA there that JT1. They had last year's PGA that Scotty Sheffler won at a canter. But in between these major championships it does host this tournament quite regularly and just to bring that out for you. Mackel Roy won here last time they played it in 24. He won at 17 under. Year prior to that 23. Windham Clark broke his tour maiden. 19 under par. And then 2021. Roy met that because they were doing some work on the course then to basically make it fit for the 25 PGA. The 2021 Rory Mackel Roy won at 10 under. Max Homer 2019 at 15 under. He's a good class of winner here. And Jason Day in 2018 at 12 under par. And you can go way back to when the golf course supported Ben Gras Greens and Phil Mickelson always used to finish second here. It's got a lot of course history. So that's good. We know what we're dealing with. Phil Hollow itself doesn't play nearly as tough and nearly as long for this truest championship as it does for the PGA championship. So this is what we're dealing with this week. We're dealing with a 7,583rd par 71. So it's certainly not short. It's had various different Tom Fasio renovations. The last one was in 23 where he put new greens on the course and did various bits of work. The key parts to really take up a hold off here. I classify it as both a classical golf course. You know, very shaped, tree line, difficult, long. I also classify it as a Carolina golf course because of course it is in Charlotte, North Carolina. But by that I also mean tree line, fairways, tons and tons of dog legs. Now where this does vary to say a central country club or to a harbour town, golf links is that this golf course is longer, clearly and wider. So we're looking this week at fairway widths of around about 28 yards on average. Now that compares to Copperhead where they play the Valsbar which I classify as a Carolina golf course even though they play a Tampa Bay but very tight, very claustrophobic, very tree line, very, you know, lots of dog legs. That's 20 yards, harbour town 22 to 25. So they got wider fairways but of course you're dealing with almost a 7,600 yard par 71. The thing here is though, compared to last week at Durau where there was water everywhere and Longland Strait was very effective as we found out with Cam Young. Now you've only got 7 holes with water hazards, there isn't a great deal of water in play off the tee. Fairways are wider but also here this golf course is a golf course that responds and it's severely responds to driving distance, carry distance, clubhead speed off the tee. So if you're a golfer that can drive the ball 310 in the air, 315 in the air, you're basically taking most of the trouble off the tee in the form of bunkers out of the equation. I mean, this is all fairly obvious when you look at Rory Macarois' record here of winning four times and I heard something crazy about it. In fact, I tell you what I'm going to do, I'm going to actually use our Stroats Gain Stats Pull that you diligently pull together. So I'm going to the home page into Stroats Gains for Quail Hollow. Stroats Gain off the tee, I'm ranking it. Rory Macaroi across 32 rounds, this is incredible. Gains 1.06 shots per round off the tee here. That includes PGO Championship's played here. Just to put that into context, Taylor Pendryf next up 0.90, Victor Hovland 0.93, Maverick Mnili 0.93, Jonathan Vegas 0.90, Gary Woodland 0.79 and I've got Zander also in the top 10. He takes on average 0.7 strokes per round off the tee here at Quail Hollow. 1.06 and that is 1.06 of a total Stroats Gain per round record around here of 2.26. So basically Rory is gaining around 45% of his total strokes around here off the tee. So that just gives you that background. Pivotal on this golf course accuracy is not. It is a true bombers circuit. Put that in a little bit more context. I'm looking at Stroats Gain here over the last 4 Wells Fargo Championship. So this does not include PGO Championships. So this is the format we're playing this week. So slightly shorter, slightly easier. The winners here over those last 4 past 4 renewals have gained 0.87 strokes off the tee. Per round 1.52 on approach 0.29 around the green. So around the green game is not important over this week. So that works out 2.68 strokes gained per round, T-tegrine. So listen to this. 1.76 strokes per round gained with the putter. So that is 60% T-tegrine of 40% with the putter. Just to compare that to somewhere like Augusta, which runs at 91% T-tegrine and only 9% gained with the putter. So team no putt does not win at Quail Hollow. You've got to have the progressive putter to get the job done around here. Put that into context. Max Homer gained 9.4 strokes with the putter when he won here in 2019. Macaroid in 2021 gained 7 with the putter. And then he gained 7.5 with the putter. These are cumulative totals. And Rory Macaroid last time he won here in 24 he gained 4.29 strokes with the putter. So we've got to find a long player who's decent with their approaches right now, but can gain a stroke per round positive with the putter to get the job done. That's where we're at. Interesting, interesting test this week. We've got to find some. someone that's going to actually make some cuts. And there's a lot of players that are long or lots of tea to green players that are long and you know good with their approaches that cannot gain with the pattern. You're having a good week when they're neutral. So I find this an interesting test in terms of picking the winner I really do. Anything else? Oh, a gronymy, of course. Sorry, I can't miss the gronymy, can you? We have returned to overseeded golf course. So fairways are 419 per mu to grass overseeded with perennial rye. The rough is 419 again with perennial rye. Another thing of note here never has long rough at this trish championship format, two inches. Greens are 6,578 square feet, which aren't that huge compared to length of the golf course. They are very, very, they remind me slightly of Augusta. They have plenty of roles and plenty of breaking parts here. They feature G12 champion bimuda grass overseeded with power trivulus. And they try and target a stimp of 12 on the stimp. Very much that this golf course has got sub air everywhere. If you want similar greens on the PGA tour, just as we look at players that might go apart on them. Congaree where they played the 2021 pound mezzo and the 2022 CJ Cup in the autumn. Also the country club Ajax and where they played the sandsome farms and the June's gold from beach club where of course they are playing this week the third ever Merkle Beach Classic. There is also Sedgefield country club. Although I might check that because I think they might have changed to Tiff Eagle. But anyway, those first three definitely. I mean a lot of the major players don't play there. They don't play the June's. They don't play the country club Ajax and but Palmetto. I mean I believe Rory McRoy won there in 2022 the CJ Cup. So there was a little bit of carry over there. I've got four players. How many of you got pulled? I've got three. I've got one relatively short and a couple of three digit chances. I won't ask Barry because Barry will be making his selection dry now. I have a few of mine to kind of try and settle between them and digesting this like driving distance pulling thing. I know. I'm wondering what kind of what Rory arrives this week to just come out and do so. Don't forget these trends change Barry as you know. But when I look at McRoy in 24 and I look at Wyndham Clark in 23, they both sat in the top 15 of my eight-week strokes gained trackers for outwitting this. So they were half reasonable with the putter arriving. This is the eight-week potting section Steve. Yes. Okay. That's a good test for you looking for that paragraph. Yeah. Well, I'm certainly there in that and then went into just to see if we break it right down to driving distance and strokes came putting in the predictor just to see what that spits out. The disappointing thing here is Chaps that Cameroon Young could just roll up and win this because as you would expect he's all over it statistically. He currently sits seventh in terms of strokes going putting over the last eight weeks and of course he tops strokes going putting last week in Darrell. Does he win last week this week and does he win the P.J. Championship in a three-week? I'm surprised. I'm surprised. I'm sure he wants to just keep playing because he's playing so well but what if he lands himself in a spot where he has to go and compete to try win this tournament? What's left him in the tank then going into next week? I listened to an interview last week at Darrell and the big guy did say various across different players but Scotty Sheffler said, I try not to play the week before major because I have to conserve my energy. I have to conserve my mental energy to try and be at my peak performance arriving that week for that major because these majors are so much more difficult than everything else. Now that's one player. I know he's the world number one talking about how he operates. It does beg the question, doesn't it? Yeah, perhaps he's just trying to find the right combination because we talked about young before the Masters and he had one. Yeah, exactly. He was one of those players that had a longer gap between his last start. It was the players from memory. So perhaps there's a different combination here. He's coming into this week having, you know, laps the field last week. Fills to me this week would have been a good one to skip but it was on his schedule. He wouldn't have anticipated that he'd been walking into it with another trophy. So I guess he's just honoring in his commitment to the tournament. Now what that does for his performance this week, who knows? Because if he does play like last week, the course sets up beautifully for him again, doesn't it? So It does, yeah. Yeah, I don't know. He could be the spoiler. And of course the other obvious spoiler is Rory Macaroy. So yeah, he'll be going for his fifth quail hollet victory. As we know with Rory, he does like to go into majors with momentum, but he's also just one his second consecutive green jacket, something that very few players do. So it's all there in the ether really. I haven't sided with either. I tell you what I have done. I've used bet 365 for two of my four bets this week. He lost the Wyndham Clarke and he lost in that Sunday shootout the week before he won the PJ Championship at Valhalla. He lost that to Rory McAroy. And an interesting with Zander and I know Paul and I have spoken about this this week. He is a crazy guy Zander. You just look at his record. He's won 10 times on the PJ2 or those being majors. He's only ever won one tournament before the 24th of April on the PJ tour. And that was the century tournament of champions years ago, the first tournament they played in January. For Zander, his game doesn't seem to translate to winning on the West Coast Swing in California or Florida Swing. This is when he starts coming to the party. And he's at Winds in Georgia. He's won East Lake. He's won in Louisiana, the Zurich Classica New Orleans when he was teamed up with Patrick Cantlow. He's won in Kentucky. That was the aforementioned 2024 PJ Championship at Valhalla. He's also his first ever victory on the PJ tour was the 2017 Green Brie Classic. That was in West Virginia. He loves this geography around here. He loves the southeast of the United States in terms of where he wins, time of year, later on in the season. I think I'm praying because he's been there or there about. I know you were on him at the Masters Barrett. I think Zander has got a great chance this week. He ticks all the boxes I'm looking for statistically. In that particular putting metric, he's not in the top 10 I grant you, but he's sitting there in the top 20. So he's putting OK, we just need a better week with the part of this week with Zander on Green's that he's clearly fired on in the past. And I took that 18-1 price with bet 365, three places each way on Zander. Now Barry, I'm going to ask you, because I know you like a bet on that on Zander. Are you following me in on Zander this week? I'm very close, so where are my thoughts are at the moment and you just need to figure out, combine them all together. So names I'm interested in are Jake Nopp. He had a sprained thumb last week, which is what I understood. So has that fully recovered? Question mark. Don't know. Chris got her up. Just looking for heavy hitters. And he can put not amazing, but he's above tour average. So he can catch fire. That's fine for me. And somebody who's popped nicely a couple of weeks ago and then played well last week. And he is the longest on tour. It's Aldrich. So I'm taking a punt on him finding the putter, but if he's bombing it out there at 325 on average or 326 on average, he's going in with very short clubs. So yeah, take take a little gamble that he can find a little bit of magic with the the putter this week. Bommas with spike patting weeks is what you've hit on there. And that looks to be a very very good mix. Did you ever think about who's putting very well, mom does actually. I feel like he's got something bubbling there for one of the surface. So it does for have my attention among others. And then yeah, Zander. So to have to figure out how to shoehorn them all in. I wonder about NAP with this thumb. You know, you've both taken a chance in him last week and it was evident from the pictures that we saw in the practice round where he wasn't playing. He was just walking the course, hand strapped up. And just before the start, that was, you know, it wasn't playable for him. So I don't know. You always guessing as to how bad these injuries are or not. Just to keep a player out or to keep a player. Yeah, where we're in the where in the sprain recovery cycle was he? Because we all know what a sprained, we all know what a sprained, Thomas, like if you'd say caught a football or a basketball the wrong way. Linger for a few days. So that's yeah, that's the question mark on that bet. Yeah. Yeah. Again, I'm, you know, the week before a major, I'm always looking for players that I think are turning up motivated to actually win this tournament rather than actually get their games ready for next. I just get a feeling with Zander clearly. He won the PGA and the open in 2024. But that PGA victories is last ever victory in the United States. I mean, that is two years ago next week. I know he won in Japan in October, which was his first victory for kind of getting on for 15 months. I just think the guy needs a boost to confidence and taking out a signature event. A golf course he clearly loves. We'll just give him that boost for his major campaign for clearly a PGA, US Open at Shinikok's going to suit what doesn't suit Zander? Everything suits Zander. Signature event season is not if everything's a signature event is ending a signature event. Yeah, they need to look at the schedule. I don't know. They do. Yeah. Lots of noise. Yeah. Lots of commentary about it. This week was probably the week too far. But it is what it is and perhaps if things change with live moving forwards, then we'll be back to a more manageable schedule moving forward. If you look at the field, last week Macaroi Fitzpatrick, Zander, Oberg and McIntire didn't play around. They've all come in this week and they've replaced Sheffler, Russell Henley, Shane Larry. And of course they're trying to do more of a go. You get like a split elite field, so you get half of them one week and half the next week. But we've gone Masters, Signature, Week Off, Signature, Signature, Major. That's it. That's exactly what I've done. It's madness. It is madness. I'll tell you what else I'm going for for my second selection. And I know the odds are going to be sound a bit crazy because I've gone for this three places market with Zander. But also I found Betfred's prices half decent this week. Long, straight, high ball approach, high club Ed Speed, a player that's putting well overriving this week. Han who would like to win. And I remember a couple of weeks ago, Barry, you said on this podcast, you were going to auto bet for the next few tournaments, Ludwig Oberg. Well, I'm doing the same. I had, I was on him at the players and we all knew it, know what happened there. I was on him at RBC Heritage, where he finished I think T4, brought home some each way cash. I genuinely think though that this golf course, when we look at Ludwig's strengths, long, does have the odd mishap of the tea in terms of accuracy. But that's abated here because driving accuracy is not a problem. The weight of the course sets up is very Augusta like to me off the tee. You can afford mistakes. Now there you get a first cut, there you then get pine straw. Here you only get two inches of rough. I think this golf course screams Ludwig Oberg. And at the RBC Heritage last time we saw it, he was 10th in the field. At a signature event, golf course event, 10th the Stroke's game putting. And as we know, we look at Vicky, he hasn't won for a period of time. And we've seen here in the past, Ricky Fowler's, Rory McRoy first off, we've seen a little Max Homer of players that have actually, when they've won here, it's been their biggest win to date. And you could argue that he took out that signature event last year at Torrey Pine. But for me, this here winning this would probably be at least comparable, maybe slightly bigger in terms of his career progression, especially the week before PGA. So I'm with Ludwig. I've gone three points each way. I've gone on a standard eight places basis with Betfred on Ludwig Oberg. Now, was that that other player you were talking about trying to squeeze in? Or are you forgetting what you said a few weeks ago about all-time betting Ludwig Oberg? Where were you? Little LeColume, little Columbia. I don't love the only finished 60th here last year, but yeah, the course just, he should be chewing this up. So maybe that was his first time getting around it. It was firm, it was fiery, mate. This is why I try and disregard PGA championship around here to a degree. It's this week, it's this week, sir. I'm just having a quick look actually at the weather forecast while you're chatting because there was a high risk of rain on Thursday, which was really soft on this course. I wonder if I take your motivation thing. Don't box under this week. Hold them off until next week. But back, Ludwig this week. Ludwig should be focused on getting a major as well. I'm not just saying not just a win, but it's an interesting one on what to do and who has that like little, it's like if you're backing any of these elite guys, they're all trying to tune their gains next week. We know that, right? So it's almost like they accidentally, they just happen to get involved in the mix to try to win this week and then you just have to go with it. Yeah, I don't know. Ludwig is the one that I've backed at the lower end of the market and to your point, Steve, I think if you were to try and map the skill set of a player to to play a hollow in general, then Ludwig is absolutely the right fit, I think. So it's came young from last week. Yeah. Ludwig, you just look at Ludwig's game and the fact that he's putting well right now, it's the perfect mix. We talk about the weeks before a major. Ludwig was fifth in Texas before the Masters, so that was a strong enough workout. Going back prior to that, he was eight for the Scottish Open before last year's Open Championship. So it's not like he takes the week off. I think he likes to sharpen his tools. I think he's still in this career, the part of his career where he's still taking and will take the the wins and the big wins when they come. I don't think he's reached the point where it's major or nothing. So I suspect that if the cards fall in the right way this week, then he will go and seriously contend for this. I like the Augusta link. I know he wasn't, he's best this year or Augusta, but the two years prior to that, he's had two live chances to win to win the Masters, heading up the heading up the stretch on the final day. So there's enough to like about him. And yeah, at the top, I'd question whether Rory will be focused entirely on next week. I'd question what Cam Young's motivation will be. And I can see why you would go the route you've gone Steve, which is kind of split, yes, split your stake in that respect between Zander and Lovix. I think the winner may well come from that pair. Maybe you've convinced, yeah, maybe you've convinced Steve by just saying he's this week's Cam Young. Who am I to ignore at the hearthand? I mean, it'd be idiotic. I just to back it up like Ludwig is 18th on tour in apex height. So just having that nice height to come down on these greens. Yeah, I think this is the point. Statistically, the course suits really nicely. And yeah, the the go that he's had here didn't work out, but he's still learning his trade in that respect. You've also heard me question Joe Scovron, O-Bugs Caddy, or as AIO, the one who called him Ludwig O-Bugs, veteran Looper. You look at Ricky Fowler's form around Quile Hollow with Scovron on the bag. Sixth in 2010, course debut, 16th, then of course 2012, the one is for that was his maiden title, I think 2012, for Fowler around here. Now I know it's a different golf course blah, blah, blah, but even so. And then even later on in his career when Scovron was still on the bag, fourth in 16th, fifth at the PGA in 2017. So at least Scovron actually knows how to get a play around this golf course in when you go back to Ricky Fowler's history here. So yeah, I'm on O-Bug. I can't see much negatives within. I'm just looking at this forecast. It has been very dry in the build up here, but Thursday looks absolutely soaking wet. And there is 100% chance of rain pre and during play on Thursday morning. Barely mind, this is being recorded Tuesday, Tuesday morning in the UK. And I'm just looking at the percentage chances of rain on Thursday. It is a Thursday, it's just severe thunderstorms from late Wednesday night into Sunday morning, Thursday morning. And then those thunderstorms kind of disappear. So it looks to me as if they're going to be playing in wet damp conditions on Thursday morning. That golf course is going to be sopping wet. There is a soft golf course variable in our predictor model this week. I can see this being soft on Thursday, soft dish Friday. And then they've got the hairdryer on at full maximum. And by the weekend you might be getting a quail hollow that we're more accustomed to where pennear releasing greens. I could see it being one of those kind of split half type tournaments. Yeah, yeah, I got that. Right. O-Bug and Zander for me. My next is 55 to one. Where are you coming in at, Paul? So yeah, I've only got O-Bug at the top end down into three figures from there. Mark, what about you Barry? Are you coming in anywhere between the market leaders and 55s? Yeah, well, it's the gollerope knob kind of decision point, I guess. Not just if it wasn't for that sprained thumb, just screams that here. There was a little, there was a lot of people last week in the industry talking up Chris Gotter up at Dorao because they were saying it was about bombers and blah, blah. The thing with Dorao was there was water everywhere off the tee and he does spray it. That isn't the case this week. So for me, Chris Gotter up's more in play here at quail than he was at Dorao in my mind, but that's just the way I think. Because you're not going to get punished as badly with errant drives off the tee. I mean JT's one around it. As we know, JT doesn't mind an errant drive 40 yards wide a target. Yeah. And Ruh is not exactly on strike, is he? I think I saw a number here where he was 71st in the field when he was driving accuracy. I think Rory let fly with the driver when he knows he can get away. So he's just literally, he knows he can max out his distance. He can control it a bit better when he has to. But when he's identified a course where he thinks the risk is worth just letting fly off he goes. Yeah, a bit like August or the other when he was just literally on the shop. These are Rory McRoy's own words. I don't mind if I miss a few fairways as long as I miss the fairways in the right spots or on the right side. So I have an angle into the greens. And he's also not mentioned there that he's probably banged at 340 yards to get into that position and only has like a nine iron or a wedging. Yeah. That's the advantage around here with power. So Gotter up does fit big star. He hasn't played here but I'm not sure if that's a mate. There are a lot of players you look at here that have come here and perform very, very well, very, very quickly. Yeah, it doesn't feel especially if it's a little bit soft, it doesn't feel like that. It's a gigantic negative to have not played a lot of experience on the course. What price would you be back in gutter or bat? I don't know what these prices. I mean, some book you'll give me 90 to one. I'll be happy. But I think he's in the mid. Yeah, he's in the mid 30s at the moment. So I have to figure it out. I think I'll hold Zander back for next week. Go, though, Berg. Dan it's like NAP Gotter up. I've got pot Geater back. So this is difficult. I might have to take a moment and step back from this because I'm starting to get too many thoughts on my head or ideas on my head about who to back. I'll add clarity. On this notion of distance being critical, accuracy not being as important, but green's in regulation here being absolutely critical. Because there's one thing that does come up here. Macroia 24 was second for green's in regulation. Wind on when he won here was first. Rory in 21 was third for green's in regulation. It's not a bad thing to hit lots of greens here. I've gone for Kirk Hittiyama at 55 to 1. I took that with only six places each way with bet MGM because that price was so much bigger than everything else. I think I've seen 35s and maybe a 40s with eight places. So I took the 55 to 1 with six places with bet MGM on Kirk Hittiyama. He's ninth on the PGA tour for green's hit so far in 2026. And he is just leathering the bull. At the moment he was sick for T-Tegreen at Harbourtown when he was ninth there and he was fourth to Stroke's gained bull striking on the blue months last week. Again another signature event he finished ninth. So his signature event finishes this year Reed. Second at Riviera 18th at Bay Hill 8th at Harbourtown 9th at Dura. Kirk Hittiyama for me is the kind of player that would be Wyndham Clark from a few years ago where it's a surprise winner apparently but when you actually look at it it's not a surprise at all. Because he's just been playing really good golf and the one thing that Harbourn's Kirk back we just need him to find the pâtresages sit there and pray. So I'm on Kirk Hittiyama at 55 to 1 and then my final bet is that I'm pausing to double in the triple digits. I'm taking a deep breath here. I've gone for Alex Smolley. I'm point each way 62 on with bet 365, 8 places each way. Now regulars were now that Alex Smolley is on my post it know of doom and I'm being a bigger person and just putting him up this week. 14th of the Valero Texas Open, you can tell I'm uncomfortable. 2nd Azuric Classic of New Orleans, where you've teamed up with Hayden Springer. 7th last week at DeRowl, a signature event level. If you go through all of Alex Small's results and I know he's had seconds at John Deere Classics and 3rd up Amuda, Charlie, that's all I reckon. If you sat down with Alex and said, "add did you think last week when Mr Small lead?" Go, "Do you know what, I reckon that's the best finish I've ever had on a PJ tour event?" Because he was up against some of the best players in the world of Finne 7th. So he's got momentum. His game, T2 Green at the moment, is absolutely elite level and his approach plate is fantastic. He's in the top 50 for driving distance so he can get it out there. I'd like to see him hit it a bit longer, but I could see him being in the mix again this week. And his record here, Paul, when I looked at your Stroke's Game numbers were really, really, it grabbed me just totally by surprise when I clicked on the Stroke's Game Total Column here, across our Stroke's Game analysis, yeah. And of course I saw Rory McRoy at number one and I saw Alex Small at number two. Now I know that Rory McRoy's 2.26 per round is off of 32 rounds and Alex Small is off of eight rounds, but even so, he clearly gets on well with this place. And when you just look into his history, he attended Duke and he lives in Greensboro. So he's gotten affiliation with North Carolina. He must be really excited to be playing this tournament this week. So plays well at the tournament. In the best nick of his life, I thought myself, do you know what Steve, let's just be take away the proudness and put up Alex Small, he appointed each one, got 61, bet 3, 6, 5, 8 places each way. Let's see how that goes. Given the small leap for the 60s, Kitty Armor at 55s, Oberg 14s and now I've got that enhanced bigger price, 3 places each way, bet 3, 6, 5, each way extra on Zander at 18s. Yeah, well given the quality of the players at the top, I did want to get as many places as I could. So I thought 125 or 8 was palatable. I backed him in Texas as we may recall the week before the Masters and he finished second there. Slightly different dynamic as he's already in the PGA. So it's not like he has to win like he needed to when he was playing at the Texas Open, but I'm sure it'd take a win. Certainly take a win at signature level, which would be another notch up in his career today. 23rd last week, a close with the 66. That was amongst the best rounds on the day and great record here, which Steve alluded to before, 6th and debut back in 2021. He led to half way that week and then 17th here at the PGA Championship last year. So two solid outings on this course and I think the aggression of the team will suit him and let's just hope the putter can comply for one week. Now if we're hoping the putter complies from Matt Wallace, then we're praying that the putter complies for Lucas Glover, who's the other guy out of that. Wow. A putting positive golf course. Got a wow. Okay. That's brave Steve, I know. That is brave. Let me get it straight. So a golf course where you've got to be long and putt well, you've gone for Lucas Glover. Yeah, but look, he's one year before, so he doesn't have to get around this course. Improven of late and you know, you have you go back. Yeah, there's just been that a little bit of a spark. Three mishats in the withdrawal at the Texas Open, so there was nothing there and then he was top 20 into Sunday at the Heritage 14th last week at Daryl. Close with the 67 and in fact he was better than that finishing position at various points during the day on Sunday before finishing there. So one here in 2011, runner up in 2009, three more top 10s here at Quail over the years. He gets on with the course and I understand why from a length perspective and I think length and the accuracy that he normally has can can work to a certain degree. You've got to, if you're going to do that, you're going to need to hit as many greens as you possibly can and at least try and putt the right side of neutral. But yeah, I think we need that sparky putting week from Lucas and they don't come around very often and that's why you're getting such a premium on his price because you know, the the chance you're taking is that he actually turns up and suddenly can make some parts. But 218 with eight places, I thought I'll take a chance. He caught my eye last week and wants to play as caught my eye like that. It's difficult for me to let them go on that. It's insane. He's in the team and I will keep everything crossed. I could just see this Lucas Glover caricature just batting its eyelids and Paul just going, you you expect to meet us suddenly start gaining a stroke per day on the greens? Yeah, exactly kind of thing I fall for. You know, when he went back to back a few years ago, he won the windon and then were you on him at the windon and then I was I then followed him a week after and he won the stdude. Yeah. I reckon what's happened is all that money has run out. His wife spent it all and she's basically being Lucas, get yourself out there. You've got to start earning money again. So all of a sudden the form starting to turn around again. Yeah, get out there and earn some dough Lucas. Perhaps that's the week this week. So it could be the week. Yeah, fingers crossed. That was won by Adrian Nows. This is a new venue this week. So for all intents and purposes, we're pretty much treating it as a new event, I guess. The field, we've lost the live players in terms of what we saw last week. So we've got no David Pooge, no Tom McKibbin. So it is a slightly weaker field than last week. Angle Aura is the marginal favourite at 16-1. Jaden Schaep at 18s in a place again, generally 16. So them two are pretty much joint favourites there are abouts. Eugenio Shakira, Gently 22s, Henny DuPlessi, 25s, St. Price, Yuanfergus and Oliver Lindell, Jacob Skov-Ollesson, 30-133-1, Bar, those top few players. Labricks and Call 7 places are standing this week. bet fret eight or ten places bet three six five eight ten or twelve places each way so lots of different each way options and some good Good mix of price and each way terms available from particularly from Fred and three six five this week Now in terms of the venue we're playing at the L Pratt course in Barcelona or just in the outskirts of Barcelona It's a relatively new golf club 45 holes in total designed by Greg Norman opened and designed and opened around 2003 The used to be an old L Pratt which was Around the airport and that got Kind of absorbed when they expanded the airport here at Barcelona. So this was the new L Pratt So if you're looking at over some very very old statistics You might find the now Pratt which refers to the older course rather than the new one There's five sets of nines here. We're using the pink course as it's described Which is a combination of the Arriba and Bosch nines It's a parkland affair some tree-lined holes some more exposed Holes on this configuration that we're playing this week. It stretches to 57 yards for a par 72 four mid-length par five six sub four hundred yard par fours Bank grass greens undulating greens the weather looks set fair dry sunny spells maybe the odd shower and as we get towards the weekend The wind may just pick up on Sunday. I mean we're a long way out even now But 10 or 15 miles an hour maybe On Sunday that looks like about the the extent of it No, we've had a few events here held at L Pratt since it was built or since the new L Pratt was built Slightly different configuration and routing for the ones or the events that have been used So do better in mind if you're using the event stats or the combi stats sheets this week does give us a little bit of an indication of playability though 2005 Thomas Hizus Munoz won on the challenge tour at one under par David driestale one at ten under The year after and then with a couple of Spanish opens here Thomas Akin 2011 and James Morrison in 2015 both of them but ten under par so that ten under par Number has been quite consistent They use the a reber nine at the Spanish open so half the holes will be identical and half of them not so give these results a little bit of a Yeah, that pinch of salt I guess But it's the only real point of that we've got so Something to grab on to a guess at the very least the worsen basic stats captured from those two Spanish opens The most prominent statistics were green's and regulations scrambling back in the day And I kind of get that with a with a Greg Norman design that's often the Green's and regulations approach players often the the key statistic as a say those slightly different routes in so And this course is about or this configuration is about 250 yard shorter than what we saw at the Spanish open so Maybe a bit of a different dynamic this week. We shall see The only other thing you can really say Morrison and Before he won his previous start it was 18th on his previous outing Thomas Akin was 35th, but I guess that's not really telling us Much in truth. I mean it seems like I say this most weeks now, but some The D. P. World tour do like thrown us these new courses these curve balls us at us all these rare to use courses so Yeah, bit of a guessing game again this week. I'm keeping it simple. I've only backed three players and I've backed three players that I think or who I think Seriously challenge and win this week. I've kept the faith with you Genio Shakira I've been guilty of back in and players and then given up on them a little bit early in recent weeks So I'm trying to learn you and Ferguson was another one last week who I'd backed the previous week and I thought for a Wild during the week last week in Turkey that it was gonna go through and bite me on the backside and Thankfully not, but there had been more than enough this season to date to Send me a warning sign to keep the faith with people so a back Shakira 22 to 1 generally 20 to 1 with extra places as how I played him tied for 18th last week Solid performance built on 33rd place in China the week before Before that was run rap in India when he was defending ninth on the corn fairy tour in between those finishes as well And some decent matchups coming out of his game third for approach and four for teeter green in India Ninth for strikes game putting last week in Turkey If you dig through his performances that was his best parting performance from a straight-scan perspective since last June So a little bit of a spark with the parts are coming into this. I like 18th and the rest of the boys got real chances of a pta tour card if he can Push on these next few months and if he can tie it together that parting performance from last week and some of the long game Metrix he was producing back in India then and he could go really close On home soil this week Uh other to our back similar kind of prices gido migliot c there's tiny bit of 40 to 1 out there as we record generally 35s 33s if you want the additional places Four times are when you want to talk gido We were on him last time that he won at the KLM open back in 2024 And he's the saw who you can see Improving visually and you'd color the from the eyeball test as well as statistically when you look through his numbers and you know It certainly passed the i test last week when i was watching him in turkey finished fifth in paris last september then pretty much nothing until Finished 13th in china then second last week so very much on the upturn in terms of his form Topped strokes gained approach last week. He did similar before contending that week in france and also did similar before winning in the Netherlands When we were on him a couple of years back. So I think with this week's relatively short course that should play into the hands of these players who are You know in hot form with their approach play and knocking the pins out and I think if a few more of those parts that just slid by last week can can find the bottom of the cup than gido could uh Gido could well win this I think the other one I've backed Exactly the same kind of configuration price point wise 40 to one or 35 33s with extra places burnt visperger who you mentioned earlier Steve and I think after taking a bit of a breather last week in turkey finished 13th That was after winning the week before in china. I think he could make it a relatively quick fire double this week We've already seen jade and shaper patrick read kacy javis all winning quick succession this season He's well capable of doing the same I think the big The carrot there for these guys and you know shaper read and javis have already done it is They were pretty much so their card up by winning twice and at all at two tournaments in a year and Beesberg could do exactly the same this week. I think Second and sick for green's in regulation last two starts First for scrambling in Shanghai when he won first were around the green and for me that ticks all the right boxes and You know 13th last week wasn't a disaster given he was coming straight off the back of a Victory so I think he could get his energy mental energy back together this week and really go at it He was 10th into sunday at el pratt and one of those spanish opens back in 2011 So he's one of a very few players who have even some sort of Experience of some description around these parts. He's had a second at the Open der Andalusia, 7th at the Spanish Open and even when he got down to European Challenge level for all those terrible years that he suffered 21, 22, 3rds, 8ths lots of good finishes in Spain. Yeah Guido you just know with him when he peaks it's for a short space of time but we know with him he can win on the D.P. World Tour.
