Being therapy. They want you to be a healed version. So I don't ever hear, all the super successful women, I know who've actually done work on this stuff. I promise you, the conversation they have with me is never about how much money he got. What can he buy me? It's literally like, is that thing in therapy? Is that motherfucker doing the work on himself? - If you're calling your successful friend about somebody, I guarantee you, they're not asking those questions because they're like, if Charlemagne is calling me, that person is, even if they don't have all the money in the world, he knows what I'm bringing to the table. And I said, is it that the advertisers and the corporate people don't want to work with the black women in their content? Like they don't see the value in it. It's the highest paid podcast is of 2026. No need to get into numbers. But let's just look at. Oh, this was the list where they put you. I was I was on there. You were number. Well, it don't even matter. Joe Rogan was number one. The PDF simply scrolled Joe, Joe Rogan was number one. Um, let's pull up the pick. Yeah, Joe Rogan was number one, Travis Kelsey and Jason Kelsey on there. Jay Shetty's on there. Amy Polar, Tucker Carlson, Alex Cooper. I'm on there. Joe button is on there. Steve Barlett, Diary of the CEO, the pod. That's the pods of American guys are on there. Um, smart list is on there. A lot of the usual suspects, but everybody was having a discussion, at least in, uh, my algorithm about why there were no black women on the list. Yeah. And I want y'all to know this is not about race. Mm hmm. It's not in no way, shape or form. Sorry to tell y'all that. Okay. It's not about race. And I meant to send you this because I had actually wrote these things down. Um, this is about infrastructure. Mm hmm. And when you read about all of these different individuals, you will see that. Okay. Um, I sent this to Angela ride. That's why I'm reading it. Number one, you have to own a control, your IP, which mostly all podcasts do because you want to have a significant stake in your show and the business around your show. And that's the most important thing, guys. You have to have a business around your podcast. What is the business around your podcast? When I say business, what am I talking about? I'm talking about you have to build multiple revenue screens around your pod. You have to have a licensing deal with a platform, right? That's what breakfast club has with Netflix, right? That's what a lot of these shows have. They have licensing deals with these platforms. And then you got ads and you got sponsorships and you might be signed to a podcast network or you might be owner of a podcast network called the black effect. You got to have merch, right? You got to have live events. You got to have products. You got to have at least two or three of those things going around your podcast to really generate the revenue. Um, and most importantly, guys, because it's only like a few things that those two things are just named. And most importantly, you have to have a massive, measurable audience range. I think, you know, when I look at that, when I think about it, you say, and we think about no black women on the list, the only podcast hosted by a black woman currently with numbers like folks on that list. I don't want to hear this, but it's Candace Owens. I believe that though. Candace Owens numbers, audio and video are massive. I was actually shot Candace wasn't on that list. So maybe it's a, I don't know, maybe it's a disconnect in the business. I don't know. Are you, I feel like brand wise, people don't want to put her on a list because of what she's grown to represent. Sure. Even though Joe Rogan is a little testy. Sure, but it's not like Candace couldn't be selling merch. It's not like Candace couldn't be doing a live event. It's not like Candace couldn't be having a subscription based tier that I'm sure people would pay for. You understand what I'm saying? Like, there's a lot of different ways for Candace Owens to monetize their podcast. Candace Owens audiences, massive. Now listen, I'm only talking about numbers, guys. I'm not talking about anything else. We ain't talking black. We ain't talking white. We're talking numbers. Okay. As my guy John Holt Bryan says, numbers don't have any feelings. Okay, we're just talking math. When it comes to numbers, Candace Owens is through the roof. And I had to look up. I was thinking I was like, damn, I feel like Michelle Obama numbers should be up there. I mean, it's Michelle Obama, but Michelle Obama does about 600,000 audio downloads a month, which is Matt, which is pretty big. She's Michelle Obama. Right. And also, I would think her video numbers do well. I haven't looked on YouTube to see, but more importantly, to your point, because she's Michelle Obama, I would think brands are backing up the bank's trust. - She got her, I mean, one of her biggest sponsorships on her podcast is Uber, I mean, Uber, Airbnb. Like that's her, her brother, they always got to do a segment about like how, the Airbnb. - But they probably spent in the bag. - But she- - 600,000 a month is not, no, on the level of the people. - No, no. - So that's why, I can understand why she was excluded. But Candace O's is one I don't understand why she wasn't on this list. - I think there's a disconnect with the business in her world. I'm, her world is subscribers. So all the people who comment, they have to subscribe. - You do have to subscribe? - Yes, subscribers. So she's getting crazy. - Oh. - Across where? - Where does she have subscribers? - To her own website. - Oh, so everything that her paywall she controls. - That comes straight in. She is, she's probably the highest paid podcaster right now, if I had to guess. - Has she still been doing it? - No, no, no, no, no. - Like for her show, not outside stuff. But if you just say the amount of money you take from your show, all her people that watch live, that are commenting are subscribed to her directly. - And through it. - So there's no, there's no Patreon getting the cuts, no YouTube getting the cuts. - Is that directly through her building? - And then she got books that she publishes. She got. - Definitely got books. - No, I told you, I'm shocked Candace O's was not on this list. I said, that is the, if there was one black woman, and I know y'all are not gonna like this, but it's just true, but we're just talking about the audience size and business, I was shocked that Candace O wasn't on that list. Now, who do I think's gonna be on the list in the future? Michelle Obama, but also with Michelle, she may not be taking on a lot of sponsors, 'cause she don't want to, because she's Michelle Obama's. Her, she's not gonna just have her brand attached to the indio thing, ain't she? Okay, she ain't gonna have Craig on there doing bluetooth ads. You know what I'm saying, like, right? But I can see Michelle Obama on this list in the future. And Kiki. - Yeah, I can see Kiki. Well, today actually, well, today that we're filming this, Meg de Stagia and Michelle Obama just went live. - Oh wow. - But Kiki Palmer has been, I know. Kiki Palmer has been having a lot of, like, she did. She did. Kiki Palmer and Michelle Obama are the two podcasts that I probably sit and watch religiously, because they're guests are out of here. - I like Kiki. I like her, I like her as an interviewer. - Yeah. - I enjoy her. But those two are able to build businesses around their podcast. In real life, it's Kiki, Angie Martinez, and Michelle Obama's podcast is where I probably get most of my, like, content, so. - Not to pivot. But what was the backlash with Kiki getting the star? - There's backlash. - I think she didn't be like, "Oh, I saw people "were saying, like, she didn't deserve that." - What? - Kiki, I'm sorry. - Well, yeah, I didn't say, I didn't say, I didn't say that. - Who would say that, though? Because is they going to go know her background? Who's the supporter we can use it? - Oh my God, it's not about race. - No, if it's not, it's not about it. - How did you hear? Like, I think the conversation around us listening no black women being on it wasn't like, everybody knowing the numbers because we know that people don't be doing the numbers all the time, right? It was more about, there are so many barriers that happen, but we love the act like, no, just pull your bootstraps up and you'll be fine. - No, but if the only reason it's hard to have those type of discussions is because there's nothing to compare it to, right? Like, the only black women-led podcast I'm telling you that can compare to the podcast on this list of candidates. The one that does better numbers than some of these people on this list. So, that's where we have to start. You have to start with the audience. - Yeah. - You gotta start with the audience. - I think doing more with decision decisions. - I don't mean that they're not being. - Everyone. - Look, I'm gonna look at them. - You know, I'm telling you, your Charlotte, you got it. - No, last time I checked it was something stupid. - I mean, I would imagine that she's very polarizing. - Yeah, but it don't matter. If you're making the list based off the numbers, you gotta put her own. - No, y'all, it don't matter. - It's a lot of people that don't, a lot of brands and businesses that, regardless of her number, don't understand each other. - That's true. That's why she's had to build that site that you're talking about. - By the way, that's what happens when we kicked off anywhere. - That's what I used to get on these panels at these advertising conferences and stuff and argue about. And I would always use horrible decisions. As the answer, I'm like, "Yo, you got guys we fucked and call her daddy and you got these two black women, Mandy and Weezy who do ridiculous numbers, right?" - Yeah. - And advertisers are scared of them. Why? Because they're black? Listen, January 20th, 20th, 26th pod scribe reported that Candace averaged about 2.9 million downloads per episode. - Per episode. - That's just audio. - Per episode, guys. - And that was down 8% from the prior month. In October 25th, listen, in October 25th, she was even higher at roughly 3.5 million downloads, ranking number one in that particular cross-platform metric. That's just audio. - And I'm not a fan at all, but I pay attention just to what's going on. - Same, what's crazy to not put her on it. - But she is out here. - When you exclude her from list like this, you just make her bigger. 'Cause now it's like, no, but the reason why that - Nobody thought a list of that wears Candace owns except for people like Kim who know the numbers. - You got to know the business? Did you know how people root for the underdog? She still carries her stuff like the underdog. - People don't like it. - I'm talking about how she portrays herself to her audience. She portrays herself as the underdog. Everybody's against me. It's type stuff. So if you exclude her from a list like this, you actually just make it bigger. - Oh, I'm lying. To the 2.9 is actually audio and YouTube views. - But that's per episode. Nobody's doing it. - No, that's per episode. - She ranked number two in downloads plus views per episode on YouTube. This was April 26th podcast, specifically reported in April, 2026 that Candace ranked number two in downloads plus views per episode and at the majority of his views were from YouTube. Her YouTube footprint is enormous. She got six crazy. She got 6.5 million subscribers and 1.49 billion lifetime views as of late July. I mean, listen. Was that what she was doing on the stuff about whether that person was a man or not? - No, I mean, I don't know. Candace has been alive. - Candace has been built. And that's the other thing too. That's the other thing I want everybody to remember about these lists. Time. People like Candace have had, they've been building this for a decade plus. She's had her part for at least six, seven years. Seven years is always the sweet spot to me. A lot of these people on this list have been doing this shit for a long, mother fucking time. Like Joe Biden has been partened for over a decade. I've been doing this shit 13 years. I'm literally hosting a podcast for 13 fucking years. - I wish we could see it end of the year wrap up ever again. - What you mean? - You and Joe Biden. - I'm talking. - I'm talking. - Yeah. - Now we ended the year wrap up. - Yep. When all you got, you just pivot, order to break the glass ceiling. But when I say pivot, I mean, don't be afraid to grow up. Understand that what you're doing is not sustainable. Do you want to go viral, or do you want to have a voice that actually has value? There's a difference. Especially, you hit the ceiling and then you pivot it. They're still trying to get to the ceiling and you're telling them, "Hey, I'm not behaving now." - You think, "I never hit a ceiling professionally." I hit a ceiling personally as a man. - Okay. - As a man, I didn't feel like I was moving around. - They want to get their numbers up. They want to get their money up first and then they want to pivot. But a lot of people follow your track record. They follow their knees track record. - Listen to me. I'm telling you that in order to get to that, you have to grow as a human. I promise you, man, that's shit that I'm watching these people online, they're a robots. They're like, "Hey, I, they're not even real individuals. They're just doing insane things because they want to get numbers and they want to get clips and they want to get engagement." If you say to me, "I'm only saying this because this is what I want to acquire," you're a combo. It's corny. - I agree with you. But it's easier to say it from your position now because you weren't doing this back then when you were saying the stuff that they were saying. - By the way, I didn't even know I could get to this. I'm just telling you that as a man, I needed to make a change. Personally, me, I wasn't happy with the way that I was moving. It wasn't, it wasn't no career issue, it wasn't no personal issue. It was what was going on with me internally. That shit that Wendy Williams said to us at dinner is exactly where my energy was.
