Tottenham with Ricky Saunders | Correspondent Week ep. 9 | Planet FPL 2026/27

Keskustelussa analysoidaan Tottenhamin tilannetta ennen uutta kautta.

We were dead and buried at points, as we said the last day, that could have got either way. So, no, that was unforgivable, that must never happen again. I think the club understands that, they've taken measures to address that, bringing in Deserby was possibly the biggest marker that they understand how close we came, and then giving Deserby the power that he's got was the second big marker as well. No manager in my memory has had the power that Deserby wields at this club. - That's an outbreak on that for those who are not following the club. - Seems to be in sole control of who enters and exits that club. If he wants a player, we go out and we buy that player. If he says a player is not needed, despite what the fans feel, and we'll talk about that, nobody is safe. If he doesn't want you, you're gone. And if he wants you, you're in. Obviously, the player has got to agree to come in. But so far, they all are wages, aren't an object, transfer fees aren't an object. He is getting what he wants, and he wields enormous power of that club. Rightly or wrongly, and we'll see how this plays out, because we've seen how Deserby reacts over clubs in the past as well. So we'll see what happens with that. - I'll show him about Deserby. He's got no interest in forward players then. - Well, he can't have, because we've got rid of all of the ones we had, the ones that can still actually walk. And we've brought in nobody. And that's why the star said, "I'm nervous," because we go into this new season without a plethora of attacking players available to us, because they're injured or broken, and no new ones on the horizon. Lots of rumours, lots of babies and possibly, and yeah, it's done, it's done. We're waiting for the bomba. How long's that going to be? Because Savino has been joining for 18 months, and I ain't seen a high enough air of him yet. Nonsens about players lot Ossiman, that end going to come towards in a million years. And Gakpo, all these players that I hadn't seen, no concrete evidence that they're going to be joining us yet. So we'll start, we've got to be starting with a front free of Matis-Tel, Dane-Skala and Rachelis and I think. I'm not sure about that. I think it might be, yeah, it might be something more inexperienced than Skala, maybe it might be Demola or Jai. We'll talk about a few options to suppose, because clearly despite the money spending, it is quite short in the attacking areas at the moment. But I just want to come back to the power element you talk about for deserving. I think the people upstairs making the decisions of not being capable of making them, so I understand the point of giving them a manager more control of things. But there's two sides today. It's quite dangerous at the same time, right? We've been down this road with like, give Conze everything he wants. Now I think the difference with Conze and Deserbi would be that like the system, Tottenham built a squad that was built to a back free system. You would hope that they're building to something now that's more an attractive style of football. The football club should never, ever, ever, ever appoint a pragmatic football manager ever again. It's just not like who we are. So if it goes wrong with Deserbi, hopefully you have a coach that has like, similarly philosophies with changes. When inevitably it goes wrong, because the chances are at some point, whether it's six months, three years, whatever, it will go wrong at some point. And we don't need that. I get a feeling of fighting to come back from Antonio Conze. It's back free. It feels like for the last few years. So given Deserbi too much say and too power, too much power, it's dangerous at the same time, no? Yeah, absolutely. We had Potsch's team, Potsch left, Marino, come in Marino, played a completely different style of football. We signed players, well, sorry, we had, Nuno, there you go, jeez, Nuno. Easily forgetable. Easily forgetable. And he was really there long enough to do anything transfer wise. Completely shift towards Marino, complete shift towards Conze, who started one way, went another way. And comes in completely different once again. And all of these managers are signing players to fit their style. And those players didn't fit the style of the next manager. And then obviously, and Frank P. the geography teacher, the Gopfi teacher, as a second subject, once again, different. That's amazing. Amazing, by the way. All these Premier League jobs came up this summer and nobody wanted to appoint the great summer's Frank. Eight new managers and Ian one of them, for strange that. But the problem is that then we, I'll give Frank a little bit of a way out. He arrives, playing his style, and then he's got this team of Mishmash with all of these players, occupying the same position on the pitch and nobody in certain positions at a pitch. And he's got to try and make it work. And he was pretty doomed to begin with, especially with the mentality he came in for as well, at we will lose games. But the club has been so mismanaged from above that we've got all of these players in his area, the same position, all bought into play different ways of football. So I'll give Thomas Frank an out on that one. But then we arrive with a manager at the Zürbjee and he's got to try and make sense of all of this. And the club have finally realised, you know what, this isn't for us. We want to back the manager, let's just do what the manager wants to do. And yet it's great in that sense. But when does Zürbjee, when does Erby froze his toys out of his pram, which will happen, and it may happen in six months, it may be eight, eight months, it could be three years, we'll see. But it's going to happen. We've got to then go and find a manager that is going to play the same style of football, very, very similar and utilise the players that we've got että se on nyt kuten kuten huomioon ja kuten huomioon, että he ovat myös - really hard to shift. We've already found that shifting certain players that weren't on that much money is difficult. Shifting to Nali on, you know, 250 bags a week and Fernandez on 200 bags a week and Conny Gallagos is on 200 bags a week as well. That's going to be hard, especially in in Ternarly and Fernandez's case where the board ain't got to want to lose the money they've invested. We'll never get the money back on Ternarly anyway. We overpaid and that's fine. I've got no issue with that because we needed that player in that position. But we, if that doesn't work out and is not who we think he is, we'll be plugging in for 50 in six sorry in in a year 80 months time and the board need to be prepared for that. I think if Tottenham in the first part of this window were trying to act like they wanted to be at the biggest table in the country with the rest of the greedy six, you will overpay. If you're going to operate to that level, you just accept almost every signing is going to be an overpay. Yeah and all of the rest of the greedy six overpay and that's fine and we've, if we're going to model our sales on them, we've got to do the same and we have done the same and that's fine and we did our business early as well and we were decisive. What's your price? Yeah, right, therefore there's a money. Let's have him. Great. We haven't really followed on that and you know, the World Cup maybe it's time to do it. I think probably more to do it. We've got to get players out. I don't think we have any more foreign spaces. I think we've got to shift non-bridge players to bring in some non-bridge players. There might be one available but if there's one, that's all we've got. So getting rid of some players has been a bit of an issue as well and that goes back to the thing. We're trying to get rid of Vicario. Well guess what, he's not really that good and nobody really wants him. Romero, Big Money, we're asking too much plus. He is just a nonsense of a human being and nobody really wants him unless it's for much cheapness. So we've made our own problems which is causing us to stagnate a little bit in what we can do going forward with bringing players in. Okay, let's look forward to what's ahead. Fixed your list that start good, bad, indifferent. Yeah, it's not the worst, it's not the best. I was hoping for a bit of an easier start for I was I was I was I was I'm for Chelsea away game. We just get the defeat out of the way that that was every year. Just get out of with what is that that that 10 man Chelsea that I would let's just start with Chelsea away, Arsenal way, Liverpool way, starting game 4 and 0 and just move forward with our lives. Yeah, look, there is a lot to be said for that. I think we've what is going to be a different way of play. So look, I don't know he's not known, he's been in you know, he's had seven games but the deserving that we saw when the football that he played is not deserving football. So for anyone that watched Tottenham last year, don't expect to see the same Tottenham next year. It's going to be a completely different style of football and the players are having to learn this new style of football as well. So it's going to be a bit of a tricky start in that sense. So I was hoping for a little bit of an an easier set of fixtures to get everybody going. I don't think Brent for the way is is easy at easy start for anybody. Newcastle at home is easier now than I think than what it was looking when the fixtures came out and then what forest away ever at home, villa at home. Then not, then it feels like it could be the old get to some some days maybe good, some days maybe share. Yeah, and it's it's got to be until the team get used to this new starter and look, I know you've you've had to watch the the preseason games and you can't take an awful lot from preseason, but it hasn't been massively impressive. We haven't been beaten yet, which is to our credit, but we had scored many goals and we haven't looked overly good. I think the football has been fine. It's the the conversion and creation in the top third remains a concern. And just I just say our two big signings have played about 45 minutes of football together as well, which is not worrying because they quality players and they will adapt, but I'd like to see them on the pitch more together. Okay, they are essentially the two first names on the team shape. Let's let's talk, let's talk about a Nentanale and and Fernandez. It definitely fixes the midfield to an element. Well, a lot of elements because it's much, much better than what we did have. Are they suitable to play together first and foremost? Yeah, I don't see any reason why not. Fernandez is well, he's a bit of an anomaly and he's got to be our six, but he could also be our ten. He can play anywhere along that central line. Tenali, very creative, loves to get forwards strong on the ball. He's got to carry. He's got to play a lot of forward passing. I don't know who or who. It might be in his playing these balls into forward spaces and there's no one there to actually go and latch onto them, but yeah, I don't have a problem with them playing together. I just would have liked to see them play together so I can be more confident in that. Yeah, I think that the Derby is a little bit nervous about the injury issues that Tottenham have had over the last couple of years and it does seem that there is a lean to not playing players under almost any circumstance if they're all felt a bit of a tight calf day. It's just no risk taking. Fernandez went to Australia, didn't play at all in Australia or New Zealand. Despite travelling all that way, we're not actually certain that he was put in the injury. It's all yet like a little knock where it's like if it was a competitive game, it'd have played about a doubt. Just not taking a chance. I think he's also looked at pitches out there. We're pretty bad, which Chelsea fans can testify to as well and gone, no, I'm not having it. Fernandez is in FPO at six. Tenali at 5.5. Should they hold any interest to people, Ricky? Possibly not initially. Let's see, especially in Tanaali's case, who is he providing balls for? Who is he creating for? I don't want any Tottenham player that's creating chances for Salanki or MacIolason because they're not going to get buried. Those prices, they're really appealing, but I'm just going to hang fire on that one for the moment. I don't disagree with that. Fernandez is the more important sign in, by the way. He's the one that's going to run the football match. I think. Tottenham haven't had that player for a very, very long time. We've bought two good central midfield players since Musadembele's left us. I believe we've only had one good player contribute in that area. That's Rodrigo Bentonko. Okay, centrebacks in Jan Paul Van Heck and Marcus Sinesi. Now Sinesi, Ricky was obviously an absolute beast for Defcon's at Paul Mufflashyard and absolutely brilliant FPLC and a good season very genuinely as well. Is he going to be first choice, Sinesi? No, I don't think so. The only well seen being first choice is if Van De Ven plays as left wingback as he does for Holland for the Netherlands. It's going to be Van Heck and Van De Ven, a central defender for what I can make out. I think all the smart money says that as well. If he doesn't fancy, Jed spent some left and Robinson needs a rest and Oedoggy is injured, which he will be, we know this already. Then he might push Van De Ven out there and then Sinesi gets his chance in the middle. But I, yeah, I was really excited by that signing. Then we signed Van Heck, who I was even more excited about. This is not really going to get his minutes, which is a bit of a shame because he's a very, very good player. He offers a lot of what the Zerby likes, which is the same as what Van Heck offers, you know, progressive passes, play, not just hoofing it, like Kev, as much as we love him, and he does a great job for us. He's not the player that you're going to see in many Zerby sides because he doesn't offer what Zerby demands. But yeah, it's a shame. A lot of people not be very engaged if Peele managers are going to look at last season's points. Sinesi is going to be in quite a lot of teams on Game Week 1 and he ain't going to get any minutes on Game Week 1. Or many moving forward, I don't think. Yeah, six million. When the pricing came out, it was two players. That's me, lots of fun. Jal Pedro was one of the Sinesi was the other. For obviously very, very different reasons. Van Heck though at five, it was like obvious, right-sided, centre-back first choice. Is that interest for FPO? Yeah, massively. It's funny actually. I've got in my current draft that it is a very rough draft. You've got triple top and defence. I'm going to have to have an up. No, I haven't. I haven't. I've got two players at five, it at the moment. Neither of them have Van Heck, but one of them is Van Heck's replacement, shall we say, in Vyskavitch. Oh, we can tell you haven't listened to Episode 1, a correspondent week yet, Ricky Stone does. No, I haven't. I haven't. To be fair, it is Monday afternoon, we're recording. Yeah. Yeah, as we all will do, we'll listen to these pods and we'll make loads of changes. By the way, can I just clarify, please don't take that, as I said, that Luca Vyskavitch won't start for Brian, because that's not what I said, just please listen to what sounds there. I don't, I mean, this is an abriot and pod, but I don't see how he can't start, because if just is there record signing, surely if he's fit, he plays, but that's a young boy, I know. Yeah, I take it, in seriousness, I'll take it, you think he would do very well. I think it's going to be really, yeah, he's not, he's not the player that we needed and the deserving one, which is why he went and I think it was a great bit of business for us. He hasn't got the speed or anything that the serving will demand, but I think, um, it's going to pose it, but not just an aerial threat. It's, it's also the head kicks, he's a phenomenon of a player in the German league and in other leagues. Premier League yet to be seen, but I think he could be a bit of a monster. But anyway, that's, that's, that's, that's a, that's a bright interesting, but yeah, look Van Heck, um, could Vyskavitch could turn into Van Heck, my other one is McWire that could turn into Van Heck, um, or Poro that I've currently got in my draft, um, who probably won't start game week one, probably going to talk about him, so I'll get in early. Oh, I, yeah, just go with Pedro now. This is, this is Carlson. He won't, probably won't start game week one because obviously he's, he's champion of the world and he's, he's, he's, he's broke. So I don't know how many minutes he's going to get. We'll, we'll see if he's in the, the, the squad or the game against Hoffman or either of the games against Hoffmanheim, at the weekend, most people won't know that we're playing them twice. Yeah, I presume there's what happens when you have to, the newcast will speak about this with Si on Friday, newcast will always do this and to finish with a game on a Saturday in a Sunday and people get their knickers in a twist about lineups and it's one of two things is going to happen is I'm going to be a first team plays on a Saturday in a second team on the Sunday or it will be split of half and half. Now the common sense would be they're trying to fill the stadium on Saturdays. You would assume that the first team and the best players will play on the Saturday and a B team if you will would play on the Sunday lunchtime. But he has mixed and matched things up. So for example, we played a game against Hitafay, which was rough ads, by the way, the weekend. They liked to tackle them a lot. They didn't be eyeing closed doors, no crowd in portraying it like a cut final. Yes, it's interesting. Well, good test. Anyway. But there was another game afterwards at 530 where a spurs team of players that didn't play in that game played under 21's team. My understanding is, for example, that Mateus Fernandez played in that game. The under 21's run lucky not to win that game. So yeah, it's a good account. You're going to tell me Lily White rose is it? Yes. Who seems to get into one's spurs young players and stuff. But that's interesting that you would surely almost go back to your first point about Fernandez and Sonali not playing to get. I don't know why Fernandez didn't play with Sonali in the game against Hitafay, but he's playing again against under 21's. Now, it could be. He's gone. Well, he hasn't played for two weeks. So it's better. I'll build him up. Maybe he's carrying a little problem. It's like the under 21's don't touch him. Whereas Hitafay came and were bloody physical. Right. So I think there's been a lot of a lot of thinking behind this. So we've played a couple of behind closed doors, friendly's where, yeah, there's there's no real conflict of words. I can't read your mind Ricky. So I'm going to struggle at this point. Yeah, sort of like. Oh, I've gone blank. But yeah, we can take it easy in a sense. You know, we're not playing in front of a crowd. There's not people there who pay to see us. So we can take it a little bit easier. I think that's been designed that way. These behind closed doors, friendly's. And you can guarantee the under 21's would have been told, look, if you want a future in this club, you do not go and eat his player just take it easy on it. It sounds like there to go and apparently give the team. Yeah, no, they're pretty well. And a lot of players have done themselves the world of good. Some of the young players and have really put themselves in in the window to be in and around a first team squad. You can't tell Katafi not to go all in on on on top of them players. I think some of it has been that they definitely didn't get the training ground. No crowd memo football matchday. Come back to Poro. Why is he in at the moment for you then if you're saying that you don't think he's going to start game week one. What was he in? Because he will be in from game week to onwards. He's pretty much bulletproof. He never misses a game. He's going to be our main attacking for coming out of defense. And he is a good attacking for it as well. He may even find him on some set pieces. He is good with with with with a corner, maybe even some some. Three kicks from within the attacking third. And he will weigh in with with a goal or two as as is proven every year he's played. I think he's. He's a little bit higher than what I'd like him to be at five and a half. But he's going to get consistent points all season. And we're going to be stronger defensively. So there's going to be some clean sheet points in there as well. What what percentage would you could ultimately you've obviously got a plan there with your structure, but most people won't want to start if they don't think he's going to start game week ones. What percentage would you put it at been starting? 50 50 mate. All we will know more after the weekends going against off and home. But the minute. I got a car. Yeah, I can't put anything more than 50 50. He's he's got to be involved over the weekend. That's clear. Some goal to talk that he ends the end start in zero percent. But I think we'll start Ricky. I think there's there's a few players is clearly we're not in a situation when no one coming back from the last four of the World Cup isn't going to start games. And he is what you'd say is kind of bullet proof is natural very fear. I think he takes care of himself very well. I think you probably will go straight in actually and start the print for that. I'd put that a more like 80% if he doesn't I would presume actually great. We'll start right back. Yeah, much to his is annoying. But yeah, I mean, actually, Gray is not going to find his way into my team. Unfortunately, I hope he gets many minutes in the top number. Just we've probably as well. Just we none of us have ever done this, but just the added. I'm a world champion. You know, that that kind of confidence is going to I think help him in his game this year. And I was going to be I think he's going to be ever really good. Yeah. Christian Romero won the last World Cup Ricky. Um. So I don't want to talk about. I also like to point out that Hugo Luis won the World Cup before him and Hugo can go down as top legend. And yeah, absolutely. And if you're wondering what he angst about Romero, by the way, for those not in the know, there have been links to him going to Arsenal. And apparently he would be quite open to it. That's not going to happen. But that's just added to you to the fire with Romero. Well, it as I just just touch on that very quickly. I don't think. And I hope I'm right. There was any more than his team trying to get a athletic. And anybody else into this, let's go and sign this player quickly. I don't think there was anything in that. I hope there was. And if there was, then he just does as a top number captain to even entertain it. He doesn't get it. And I personally don't believe that Arsenal winning the league this year looks like a formality in my mind that they would do. Scientists, does that? Yeah. There you go. Um, let's talk about another new signing Andy Robertson is in. We've kind of been calling taught them a lacking experience leaders. This is one, isn't it? Proven at the top level with Liverpool coming up 4.5 has been obviously great historically in FPL. He does still like to get forward. Not the player that he was obviously he's been. But that that should be interesting. And he does look like he's got a clear run to start. Isn't it, Ricky? Yeah, he has. Um, do. Yeah, we're getting tired of it. I'm fortunate. Yeah. That's the reality. There's lots of talk about Jets Ben's kind of live a porch. Now what keeps Ben so log do doggy. I'm done with him. Um, you know, I'm sure he's a lovely bloke. I really like him when he's. His potential. He's got lots of potential. It's never going to happen for him. I'm sorry. I'm ready to write him off. Go with our best wishes. Go and try and, um, you know, remain fit somewhere, but just not here. Um, so we've a dog use fitness levels. A spence potentially going. There's a lot of game time for Robertson. It's not going to be consistent. It might. Look, he's probably going to start game. It won and he could really nail himself into that team and it's other other players then to remove him from the team. I think he is his second fiddle, maybe even third fiddle behind do doggy and Robert. but and and and JED Spence, but he'll get more minutes than I think people are going to assume he's going to get. I think he's going to be first choice is is my view at the moment. Actually, you think he'll be first choice ahead of Jed. I think a deserving to go back to your points already said I think deserves is not on it with JED Spence and is happy for him to go. And I think ultimately that will be decisive. I think that'll be a mistake in the sense. Archie Gray is no right back and he doesn't want to be a right back and it will be wrong to have Archie Gray as our back up right back. But in the season with no Europe, if Poros stays fair and he's one of the rare ones who normally does, I think he's missed about four games in the last sort of three years at Tottenham. Yeah, we probably stays fair. It will just play all the games. We could get away with it for a season. If we couldn't, if we're in Europe next season, for example, but if if if Robinson is our star in left back, 4.5, wow, that could be, that could be an absolute bargain. So let's let's break that down. Right. That I think because there is interest in Tottenham defensive assets. I think that's very clear. So Sinesi at six, we we're rolling out. Well, does it change if Vanderbengue or injured at the weekend? Is that change? No, Sinesi is going to start. It's just too much. Yeah, it's right. Okay. So then it's poro at five and a half. Then up five Van Heck will rule out Romero and dance and dance. So it's basically Van Heck versus Van Da Ven just cover that as a debate Van Heck versus Van Da Ven. I you could you could they're both going to be first choice. I think probably Van Hecker because he offers more going forward in terms of passing and he will probably get a couple of assists and Mickey as well. But I at the two, I probably like Van Heck and look Mickey has had his injury problems in the past. So you got a fact that that in maybe as well. I think Jan is a Mickey. Obviously, I'd have spelled actually under Frank, where he scored a number of goals in the first half of last season. But I think Van Heck is a more dominant threat at set plays. I know also think he's a better jeweler. So he's far more likely to pick up the Defcon's. I don't think by the way, I don't think Defcon's a less time of proper shit again. I don't think with the adjustment of style of play that Defcon's is going to be a big thing for Tom this year. So I think definitely Van Heck over Van Da Ven. 4.5 though. We've now gone poro five and a half Van Heck five Robertson 4.5. We've declared that we can go yes Robertson first choice, but you won't get 38 games out of him like you might out the other two. What then becomes the answer out of that? Well, the answer out of that you can have poro. If he feels going to start every single week and you're going to play him a gold sort of fixture, you can pump in a formula defender. For a nine and a half. Pairen you could pump in a 4.5 backup for Robertson who's going to play every week for a nine million Pairen. That can be appealing and not a slot said poro. We all take some set pieces. Well, Robertson's not a versed your free kick and set piece. His delivery is good, very good. It's probably possibly better than poros in Robertson. Robertson will take a few isn't as a natural left footed player. Yeah. So if he's start the only reason why I haven't put him higher on my list is because I don't know if he's going to start. If he starts he's in and I think he'll do really well, possibly the best 4.5. If he start in every week, probably the best 4.5 in the game. One of them at least I think I think it's clear from the start, but I can't tell you what that looks like a little bit like kind of. A few others have said about a few other 4.5's this way or even will I say like Gary said about Peleska is like game week one. I actually yeah, very confident. Once I get into a few weeks time, I'm not sure because I like destiny. The frustration with destiny is the fact that he keeps having little niggles and injuries. I like the footballer and I think the server really likes the footballer clearly also the Robertson hasn't turned up just to play second fiddle. He wants to compete for the share. He's the one with a preseason training under his belt. He's going to start the season. I think for Robertson, if he didn't start game week one at this stage, he became by the ring. Yeah, he hasn't come on back up money either. Obviously reputation wages and good season pro solid player, very good attacking. I don't know that he's going to be the first choice or season, but at the minute he's got to start because nobody else has. Got any game time. Okay, this debate though doesn't just fall into Poro Van Heck and Robertson. He includes the goalkeepers. So first and foremost, Ricky, do me a favor who's starting in goal. Kinske and that's why Kinske is in my team. I think he will say who will be the substitute goalkeeper. Um, I think, wow, do you know what this is difficult and the only one who's going to do it. Yeah, no, it's not. Well, who was on the bench of the weekend, James? Yeah, he was, you talked about Vicario. Yeah. He wasn't, I was, he, because as I told you, there was another game. Yeah. And the Bravka played that game. Vicario didn't play that. So maybe we had, we used four goalkeepers because we had to use four goalkeepers. Right. I was just a bit, but Vicario has been named as a substitute as like a token gesture. I think, mate. I was just a little bit worried when I saw his name that, why is he not going to play somewhere so I didn't have a contract? No, I'm fairly certain that I think the only thing that would change it is if something happened to Kinske at the weekend, like they might have, you know, say he did a really bad injury. They might have to sit down and have a conversation and say you're staying to Vicario. This is, but it's clear as day to me, Kinske's first choice, the Bravka was not gone from being first choice in the Premier League last year to now going to accept being third choice. He's coming as a real support for Kinske. They've got a really good relationship building. Like, best mates are ready in training videos and stuff. Vicario is going to end up going on loan to events or something like that and top them will get like eight million from next year with an obligation. They're going to do whatever it takes. I think to move him on, they're going to get naff all for him. They're going to get naff all for a mirror. But he's clear as day to me. Unless something goes wrong at the weekend, Kinske's styling goal and the Bravka will be second choice and Vicario will go. Yeah. So the argument of course is, and why does the Bravka's ownership so high, he ain't going to play much in which because you can have the bloody two for 8.5, isn't it? Well, it's, I don't want the two because I'm probably going to want two top-down outfield players at some point. I definitely want at least one in defense. So I'm not going to go down that route. I think one of the reasons why he's, his ownership is high is once again, people have picked teams based on points last year against the price this year. So that's fine. People also realize, or maybe people don't want, don't want to top them outfield. So they're happy to double up. I'm not going to go anywhere near the Bravka purely because I don't want to box myself in and not be able to get to top them further down the line because we're going to bring in a forward player, hopefully that I really, really want. And I don't want to be boxed in. Yeah. Here's how I see this. I think Kinski and the Bravka is okay because I can't foresee that scenario. I can't foresee a scenario where suddenly I'm going to want two top-down attacking players. I also can't foresee that if I'm going Kinski and the Bravka, the appeal of me wanting double top-down defense. I can't see it. I think that's enough. Yeah, that I can see that. What I will say to you, and I know we're going to talk about him, if let's say, for I could say, we don't sign any attacking players or at least a number nine. Richie, six million, starting striker for a team chasing European football. And we'll play attacking football. I know it's my team, but I'm asking the questions. So Lanky versus Richaleson. How are you, Spers? Right now. I'm guessing you've already said it's Richaleson at this moment. I'm saying this as I'm looking at my team and in my team is Lanky. Right. Yeah, no, no, no. Slanky's going, mate, because I'm doing some bits and pieces. But no, look, right now, Slanky, I'd sell him. Another injury, is he ever going to be fit? Is he ever going to score any goals? If I'm being really, really brutal, he's had one season where he wasn't injured, and that was Bournemouth. He's only here, the reasonable goal tally in one season. That was a Bournemouth season. Is he a one season wonder? I know that Deserbi Lanksym, Deserbi Lanksym, what he offers. Unless he can stay fit. I don't really see him having a future. Yeah, I'd be happy to replace it. I'll be happy to keep Richie as a backup to whoever we bring in. I don't see it. Yeah. So for FPL, Niveau. only if. we don't sign somebody else. If we sign somebody else, then just be aware that whoever you sign is a backup to whoever else we do sign. Yeah. No, I've read these players can be an investment until Gameweek free. Yeah. Once that Transwindow closes, then you'll know where you stand before then don't bother. Well, unless you're planning on wildcard in Gameweek free or four, and you'll you want to essentially see it as a two three week punt and that's it. Okay. I tell you what, I think it's very, very quick summary. So the only thing that's about Sanky missing out a weekend is I will go back to my point about what I said about Deserby is just not having anybody play friendly football matches if they've got even the slightest problem. And I'm absolutely certain that Deserby prefers Sanky to Richarlison. Yeah, I agree with that. So do I? Do you think that the talk of Sanky's injury has been overplayed rather than underplay? I think that there's a possibility that obviously the that leaked second team, which is not public information as far as I'm aware that leaked second team of which he didn't play an either game on Saturday sent the Twitter or community into a bit of meltdown of like I can't take this anymore with with Dominic Salangi basically. So I'm so tired of this now of these just these little niggly injuries. Plus I do feel sorry for him in a sense his two years. We're talking about both been interrupted by injuries. He was basically bought injured from Bournemouth played game one against Leicester. Missed game two against Everton was in catch up mode. Did all right for three four months got a bad injury hobbled through the rest of it. Last year didn't play to January. He had an ankle knock before the super cup final one was doubtful. I saw him in game week two for 10 minutes bizarrely it managed to city and then didn't see him again for another five months. Yeah, weird. So like my hope really with Dom this time was in my head as like right last chance. Hopefully has a proper preseason this time. But it ain't happened again so that's concerning. He's a much better footballer than Rachel and but actually yeah, Rachel and smells to be in the right place in the penalty area. The problem is for Rachel and to smell the right areas around a penalty area needs someone to create for him right. Ricky is playing for Tottenham right wing against Brentford in game week one because I will tell you right now I haven't got a clue. I mean, I might be could us might be is he is being integrated. He didn't feature in either game at weekend once again possibly because what you said about a deserve it. Look, if you believe some of the training ground footage, Coolisewski is in the frame. He's not cool. But it's nice to see him kicking a football though that did happen. Yeah, no, he's on the recovery road and that's brilliant and we we need him so much. Right wing. Yeah, I don't know. I honestly probably someone we haven't signed yet. He's not on the stairs. Is the truth. Yeah, it could be ideally obviously if could us can make it it will be mo cut us. Matt Assalamans played there are a lot in preseason. The understand is at the moment that he's going to West am at the time of recording. It's just basically all bar. Yeah, he wasn't involved in those games for Tottenham at weekend. It was pulled out of it. The other player that's been replacing him or playing some of his minutes is young men. Yock, we understand now he's going to Belgium on loan. He's no winner. Ready. No clearly. They are the only two players who have played right wing for Tottenham in preseason. Now Tottenham have cut us injured. Kudizewski injured. Oddabair can play there injured. Colomawani covered there a bit at last season. Obviously is no longer at the club. The player who played right wing on the final day of the season. Ricky was. Jed. Oh, yeah, of course it we are. Which three fair was a little bit of a masterstroke. But is Jed's ready? Where's his new season? Is it is it is it's not the beach? I think if he comes back and and I by all look at Moani got loads of sick after the game at Chelsea in 37. Supposedly spent went to deserve he instead of all play right wing for you if you need me to against seven and deserve he went with it. He might do that again game with one. I don't want the FPL guys to get excited about this because ultimately you might play there right wing game week one. He might get sold by Tottenham like the following Monday. It like literally feels a bit like that at the moment. But that's the possibility Mikey more is going to Cologne. Yeah, that's what they put the plug on that at the moment because essentially there is nowhere else to put no one else to play right wing. The player who I'd mentioned earlier who played right wing for the under 20 and no played for the first team. Against the under 21s in that second game where there's not official details of was the molar a gyre who played in a ropa league game as a substitute squad against Elf's book him Mikey more day in Scarlett all scored on the same night. So like right wing right now that is an absolute mess. And could we so yeah, I mean just injured injured injured Cologne on a beach 17 that that's that's options. Yeah and by the way the only the only player available to plan the left at the moment is Matisse tell. Yeah, I'm not sure if you're trying to find him for 18 months. But he's tell at 6 million Ricky like we'd have to look at this right now and go that looks really he 100% starts game with one. Can we say that? Yeah, yeah, absolutely. So is that a decent punt early on? I think there's a concern but it could be like he starts game week one and then by game week three could us his fit and talking about bolts of in you and yeah once once again. Oh yes, it is a decent punt. If you're well card in early on or you plan to well card early on. Yeah, I he's going to get minutes. He's going to play in pretty much every single game. But they're going to be minutes from the bench potentially on who we sign so just once again it's that in mind. But you'll come off the bench and he'll have an impact in some games you know you might get the old goal you know and assist or something. But yeah, not not as a long term he's not in your dead team put it that way. If I had to start with a top number tackling game week one we haven't mentioned him yet. It's Gallagher. He will play number 10 on the first game of the season on certain of that. He's played 10 before for for palace. I think for sure we'll see as well. He would watch in him as a 10. He can do it. It's not his most effective position. It's not really his natural game because. He's not the most creative of players, but he's got energy. He'll hustle. He'll harry. He's got a really good goal. To attack the weekend. Yeah, the weekend. Riving in a place you didn't expect him to be. You're going to get that out of him once a post. And one of the other games arriving kind of similar as well. One of the was it Auckland's maybe. I think it was Auckland game. I'm not particularly advocating. We advocate Gallagher over gross, for example. No, because gross is going to be in that team for your games in the season. Gallagher isn't. Yeah, you just you're short. If you're looking at an early wild card, you look at Gallagher and go, right, they've got striker issues. Did someone's got a take-out the burden here of goals? Or we just don't score goals also possible. Could you go Gallagher as the 10? No, I probably wouldn't because we've got to remember as well. We haven't got united's opening games. We've got two away games. Brentford and Forest and home to no castle. They're not the easiest set of fixtures. They're tricky games. If we, you know, we had. Yeah, Coventry at home. It's which away followed by, you know, you say that though. He's not like, I think Gallagher will get free attacking returns against Coventry. He's not that sort of player. He might be the player that scores the goal in a one-one draw like at a weekend. There's like time in my point at a moment. I would say he looks to fit his player in a squad at the moment, which is testament to him because he turned up as an absolute disaster in January. I'll send him straight back if I could. Deserby has managed to get a tune out of him. And you can see there's little things that I think he's got a really good understanding of what Deserby wants. I could see that from the first game at Sunderland. He can take instruction and I think he thinks the manager likes him and is kind of a buy-it-in buy-it-and-it's given him confidence. So at least he looks like a footballer again. And Deserby reiterated a comment very last week actually that he said when he first took over. He's that when Connagallagher's in a good, like in good spirits, he's like having an extra player. And what he means by that, he's obviously, he's workrate, off the ball. So he's a unique player in the sense that he's a ten who could get you the easy way to get you the odd def Conn here as well. That's my point. If I had to start the top attacker, it'd be Gallagher. There's a lot of sense in that. I ain't doing it. No, I'm going to do it. There's a lot of sense. Once again, it's moving forward. We're probably going to sign somebody else in plan that position or someone who's injured or come back in plan that position. And he's got a struggle to get in the centre of the park with what we've got available. So yeah, it's not a long term. one but he's, yeah, he's, he's pretty much nailed on the game at the weekend, um, permitting he's nailed on to start. Okay. Quick fires on Rested and Midfield for us then, Ricky. So Lucas Bergval 5.5. I'm dependent on where he starts game week one. Um, I like him. Um, I'd rather not see him go, but he possibly is. Well, he deserves to be really likes him. So unless Bergval forces a move. He's a decent involvement. I think what it will be, I think if there's a big bit that I think we're talking 50 plus it out, that'll be a conversation I was, I think he's going to stay. But if he goes to another club, he'll be a number 10 somewhere and I quite like that at that price. I'm not sure. I think it'd be deeper. Actually, yeah. Like if you, our forest has been mentioned, I mean, if he goes to forest, the center midfield, I don't think it's one of the 10s. If he goes to forest, it will be his Anderson's replacement. That's a big ask. Perhaps I was 5 million more likely to move. I'd keep an eye on that. If he goes, I think Villa were talked about, that's that's a very interesting player to sign by a million in a team like that. Yeah. It could be good for minutes and not massive for Defcon's actually, but I could see him ending up somewhere where he places like a 10. You know what I mean? It's like the furthest forward from a midfield. I just, not for spell, just keep an eye on that if you really like that. But I think probably the football club and now the conclusion is probably not going to be the right one. He's not going to kick on massively. So I think prepared to let him go. Actually, we'll stay. Waky Moise, 5 million, genuinely, as it stands right now, he could well start game week one. He's not ready. He needs to go and have this loan in Germany, experience something different. Kalamazase is 4.5. Won't get a look in. There's two pages of Tottenham players because there's too many bloody players. So we'll leave it there. I think it's probably obvious to say what's needed with attacking players. You mentioned Dane Scholar earlier. He's a 4.5 forward. Yeah, he ain't got a play. Well, no, I say he ain't going to play. He might have to play a different at least. You're going to sit here and guarantee that one of Richarlas and Osalanku would definitely be fit in Game Week 1. But neither of them might be fit. Let's make it real. They're both injury-prone players. Dane Starluck could in a parallel universe lead our line on Game Week 1. Tottenham needs to buy an absolute minimum to attacking players. I think it's an absolute minimum of 3. I'd probably be happy to get 4 and shift 2 of them on. Yeah, I couldn't agree more to as an absolute must. Can't start the game or in the transfer window with less than 2 new editions. I think, by the way, for clarity, there's like one in stump and I think it's very clear from this podcast. It is a certainty that Tottenham are going to do stuff in the next colour before the transfer window closes. That's a certainty. I can't tell you if it'd be good. It might be like panic loan on August 31st or something. But Tottenham aren't going to not bring attacking bodies in. That's very important to reference. It's just sort of applied and going at Troy Parrot back. Right. It's got another one. I've heard Westam. Go on. Predict Game Week 1 team at Brentford then. You're a comedian, you are. I can do it to a point. It's supposed to be, I think, pretty easy. Well, it is up to the halfway line. Kinski, you've talked me into it. Robbo, Van De Ven, Van Hecker, Poro, Fernandez, Tynale, Galliga. So we've got the 5, 6, 7, 8. You've got three attacking plays. There's only one left to puttell in and now decide the rest. It's a T-Sale. Reach your face fit and right winged. Let's go, Jed. It's not injured. It should be well rested. If he can get a few minutes under his belt against Hoffemheim, it will be Jed. If it's not Jed, well, yeah, I don't know. Anybody? It could even be an academy player. It could be, under that circumstance, it will be. It will hold until Mikey Mottel say it would be that. Yeah. Oh, you play. I think the only one of the actual more central midfielders would be comfortable moving out there is probably Sare. Yeah. I think he's got the experience and I mean experience over the academy players to do that. He could do the job that that soldier just do the job. I tell you many, many people won't have heard of him, but he's got an injury at the most unfortunate time and that's young Rio. He is looked fantastic at some of the games he's played, especially against Chelsea. Oh, we are Kira Martin, yeah. Is it a midfield play having government left park? Yeah. He could go and do that. But yeah, he's got an injuries. He's out for six, seven, eight weeks. You might have heard. We should mention him as well, because we've talked about academy players. We haven't mentioned Luca Williams Barnett, who I mean love with Luca. He's an even Barnett. Yeah. They've come. I've been here before, but Luca is a very, very special talent. He's been involved quite heavily in preseason. He didn't feature in that second game or the first game at weekend. So we don't know if there's something gone wrong from an injury perspective. Of course, it's bloody taught them, isn't it? I don't think in any case, I think there's a chance he would have been in a squad for Brentford. I don't think he would start. No, no, I think he's going to be in and around the first team squad. He's going to be on the bench a few times. I think there's a few players that fall into that category. Malachoy Hardy, I've been really impressed with him preseason. Toilets Hall to a lesser extent, he'll be in and around. We talked about defenders. We didn't mention Janu Bifield, who he's been injured and it's stunned his progress because he looks very impressive. But yeah, none of those are fantasy options. They're just ones for maybe topman fans to keep an eye on if you're not aware of them already. Yeah. Okay. What I would say is this. I think Kinski, the bravkir, if you want to do it, is fine. Kinski and Vibragan, or something else, it's fine. I think Poro, when I compare him to other 5.5s, I'm not sure, but he's worth the extra over the other Tottenham guys. I think that's fair. Van Heck will, I think, play nearly every game. So, but I don't think there'll be a lot from Defcon this year. Tottenham's defensive numbers, obviously, it's kind of well documented. From the point Zervi came in, the XGC expected goals because it was the best in the league. But Tottenham were playing a very different style to what you're going to get now. That said, the underlying numbers were always pretty good when he was prior manager as well. Give away more chances under Zervi ball. Let's say then we do under Zervi defensive ball. Robertson at 4.5 is fine, but I don't think that's a better pick than Kinski. That's how I'd sell that one. I think as it stands, Richarlison is more likely to start game week one than Selanki. But if you decide to listen to that and that's all you hear, then you haven't really been listening. Yeah, that's a perfect summation. Where do you think Tottenham will finish? I'll give you two predictions. One is now, as we are now as a football club, anywhere between 8th and 10th. I think definitely top half 8th at the moment is possibly the limit of where we can go because we ain't going to score many goals. 8th to 10th, we've asked me again when the transfer window closes might be better, might be worse. I don't think you'll be worse. It will be. If they don't buy any forwards, we won't finish in top line. I think we've got, I'm factored in towards, you know, like that part of this year, we'll get some attacking players coming back and we'll get some more goals in the side. But yeah, we've got to struggle to finish anywhere higher than that. That will be a fight to get top half with what we've got. But I think we'll do it. From me, is it probably isn't just finishing the dinner? I don't know if dinner's getting served. There's no creativity. Never my order finishes. It's like it all completely needs dealing with end of podcast. It took all night. Ricky, thank you. I love you. Your first COTC is before a decent turn of fixtures, perhaps for Tottenham ahead of the fixture against commentary in game week seven. There is a trip to Chelsea in game week eight where we will get our usual zero points, but it's also more good fixtures after that as well. Tottenham season begins at Brentford in game week one and that's next up on Correspondent Week with Tom Med later today. Ricky, thank you. I hope we have a great season. Smash your like, hit the sub button, say it, please Ricky. Go on Tottenham. Come on Tottenham. CUME is it, please, Manshard. [BLANK_AUDIO]

Summary:

Keskustelussa analysoidaan Tottenhamin tilannetta ennen uutta kautta.
