How's that? All right, let's get into it. My bad. No, no, you're good. So, I don't know if you remember, I had a character analysis from last week. Oh, I remember. Doflamingo. Good, evil, morality, perspective. I remember. Exactly, exactly. But I thought you said we had a time limit, so I can talk about something different or I can continue on with my perspective. It's up to you. I'm giving people five minutes. Yours hasn't started yet because I haven't really given you a chance to talk. But I am giving people five minutes because I do kind of had to go. So, talk to me. Whatever you want to do, but you got five minutes. Okay, okay. Then I'll talk about something else. Let me scroll up in my notes. Hold on a second. And this is kind of, you just got to hear me out, okay? Okay. So, people keep telling Luffy is a hero. But I'm telling you right now, he's not. He's not a hero. And he doesn't even want to be one. And if you think he is, you've, to be honest, been watching One Piece kind of wrong. So, think about it. Luffy literally says, I don't want to be a hero. Why? Because heroes share all the meat. And Luffy, he wants all the meat. And that's not a joke. That's his philosophy. He doesn't fight for justice. He doesn't fight for peace. He fights for what he wants. For example, in his lobbies, it wasn't for justice, but it was for Robert. My marine thought, not to stop the war, but for Ace. Wano, not to liberate the country, but because he bonded with the people there. And that's not heroism. That's personal loyalty. But let me flip it for you: if Luffy existed in our world, breaking into government facilities, declaring war on the world government, freeing criminals, you wouldn't call him a hero, you would call him dangerous. But here's where it gets tricky: he saves people, a lot of people, and countries get freed wherever he goes, oppression gets destroyed. So now the question is: does that make him a hero, or is that just a side effect of his freedom? Because Luffy isn't about good or evil, he represents freedom, pure, uncontrolled freedom. And in a world controlled by people like Imo, that kind of freedom looks like hope, but it can also look like chaos. And Luffy doesn't save the world, he just does whatever he wants, and the side effects of it is that the world changes around him. So my question is, I'm asking you: to be honest, is Luffy a hero, or is he just someone so free that people mistake it for goodness? Um, that's a good question. It comes down to how you view a hero, right, because Luffy clearly does a lot of heroic stuff for his friends, for people he cares about, he's morally just more often than not. Would I classify Luffy as a hero? I'm gonna go no, I wouldn't. I think to be a hero, there is a part of it that needs to be a self-evaluation there. Luffy doesn't take a stand because taking a stand is the right thing to do, he does it because in a given moment, he acts on his whim. You know? I think a hero should be an actual representation of something. So I'd say Luffy's freedom just puts him in spaces to be heroic, but he's not a hero. Okay. No, I don't think he's a hero. He's not like a Superman type of person. No. You know what I mean? Yeah, I'd have to agree very much on that, and it always comes down to the whole aspect of one person's hero is another person's villain. True. Yeah. There's people out there who see Luffy and see him as a villain, they just would. He's doing whatever he wants, he doesn't adhere to any laws. If breaking the law is beneficial to him, he'll do it. Without hesitation. Without hesitation. Without second thought. Impel Down. The people who've been ravaged by the people that were freed in Impel Down would probably never look at Luffy as a hero, but he was just trying to save his brother. So. Yep. I'd say no, man. You can't call him a hero. He might be some people's hero, but he's not a hero. Yeah. Like an objective hero. Yeah, no. Because most people, we see everything from the crew's perspective, but not the world's perspective on how the world reacts to him. So I bet the entire One Piece world, like the civilians or the Marines or whatever, think he's just some bad guy. But he is a good guy. Yeah. He's a good guy. Yeah. He's a good guy. He's a good guy. Yeah. He's a good guy. So do you consider him a hero, Sonny? I mean, to be honest, I wouldn't because he also, I think a hero is someone who also doesn't kill people. And I don't know if we had confirmation if he killed anyone, but if you look at some of his attacks, he puts on people. He's definitely not taking into account whether or not people are dying. But I would disagree. I feel like you can be a hero and kill people. Maybe not in a traditional sense. Like Superman tries not to kill people. Batman tries not to kill people, but you can be a hero and take some people out, man. You know, maybe you're an anti-hero, but like. I mean, you can look at it in the sense of like old warring times. Kingdom's a good reference of a story that shows like those people were considered heroes in the story and they were a hundred percent bodying a lot of people. And it's also true. Kingdom a little different, but they was warring states and murdering entire civilizations of people, man. But I just mean the concept of hero was still there though. True. True. The hero of the country, the hero of the area they're in, Quan, Zhao, so-and-so. Is it worth reading Kingdom or is it better to read it? One thousand percent. A hundred percent. Watch or read. Yeah. Yes. Kingdom is peak. I got to catch up. I'm like 30 chapters back. But Kingdom is one of the best series I've ever read in my life, bro. appreciate you getting me in early i love that thank you thank you very much um yeah no no no theory today honestly i you know it's funny i i listen to your podcast quite a lot when i go to the gym or walk my dog and stuff like that right it's like you guys are like my uh my pastime podcast you know uh in a good way i mean that in a very very good way um and i was like it's like i heard you guys talking about how uh how like like you know what actually i forgot that i lost my train of thought there um what i was going to talk about though what uh what i was going to talk about was i saw a podcast i saw a video earlier about how one person was talking about how one like the one the straw hats are kind of like the reimagination of joy boy's crew luffy obviously representing joy boy uh nami representing the connection to the water obviously the sea levels are a big thing in the one piece story uh frankie represents the engineering and uh science uh the science feats that they had back 800 years ago like every straw hat kind of has a representation of something from the void century and my i kind of got me thinking like do you think the question between uh fate and free will like freedom you know do you think luffy's crew unintentionally just by fate happens to represent a lot of the things from that void century or do you think that they just all happen to get together through the free will and the the the thrill of it all joining luffy and and then the fun of adventure that's my question um it's a long long-winded one i'm sorry no you're fine i have to really think about it because i do i do think there is some level of fate that's connecting all these people but also don't like the idea of an actually pre-ordained like destiny for them to follow in the footsteps of some other crew um like how history history repeats itself yeah like i'm i'm down for history repeating itself i don't want it to be like oh well romeo vinsmoke was on the crew therefore now 800 900 years later a vinsmoke child has like i don't want that if that makes sense um i'm fine if like that crew also had some lover boy chef that's cool you know it could just be an emulation of this thing like similar to how like roger's crew has the perverted like third and third in command you know what i mean like i'm fine with that i don't know i don't like the idea that they've been like destined to do this from some like origin or something i don't think i don't think the uh the from what i got in the video that i was watching i don't think they mean like it's like a direct generational correspondence it's more so like uh what they represent you know like uh like zorro represents like the kindness and and the morality the warmth of that void century whereas uh robin represents like the archaeological or archaeological uh expertise uh uh frankie's the science brooke is brooke is like brooke is like the music the the the song uh bix uh bing sake you know like a lot of people have correlated how that song could be a much bigger you know key component to the story you know uh chopper you know if you want to believe he's the forest god you know like for the earth like there's jimbe the water or or things like that like okay the symbolism the representation of that void century or joy boys crew that's more i think what they were going with okay that's that's a little different i i'd say um i'd have to probably watch this video to see the direct correlation between each straw hat member and crewmate to the void century i think it's an interesting thought process um top of my head the ones you said are interesting they're a little loose i would say like i think we need to know more about the void century in general before i can have this kind of thought process myself but in general i like the idea like the idea that they represent a core value or concept that existed back then i think that can be great like maybe there's pillars of this kingdom that each of these straw hats might be highlighting in a different way whether it's the passion of sanji the strength and stoicism of zoro the inquisitive nature of robin the creativity of frankie like if that's the case like that's different but like i'd love to see that that's that's that's something i haven't seen before or even talked about before i definitely agree and like the uh the video wasn't long it was like six minutes right you remember who the content creator was is a canon canon creator or canon something uh i've never seen a video by him before like it just randomly popped up on my feed and i was like oh that's kind of cool probably have some smoke sometimes yeah it's one of those things where like as soon as i close the app like yeah i know i'm never gonna find that video again you know like it's it's gone you said canin or canon canon canon some canon creation or canon theory like with one end i believe you don't got it on uh like your youtube watch history man hold it down no because it was on my phone which is on my old account okay i have a trap phone i'm not gonna lie hey man i got a couple phones hey just just because i don't pay for that phone bill what i was doing i i noticed that brooks backstory seems to be an amalgamation of all of the straw hats backstories like he's oh he's pulling elements from every single one of them to create brooks ultimate backstory here which is very interesting to me um it's not something i've seen anybody talk about just yet so i know people have correlated him to jimbae on the call industries before and even luffy with the torch ring and stuff but like i feel like it's every single straw hat has some sort of tie in here in a way that we just haven't seen before which i think is great so yeah i can kind of see that forming like a little bit of robin's back story it's all in there man it's all in there it's in there also speaking of jimbae um so i know i know i feel like every time i talk in i call and i talk about fishman but jimbae needs to get conqueror's hockey i'm saying it right now because as far as we've seen in one piece there is no fishman that has conqueror's hockey um jimbae is the only one i could think of that might have it i mean maybe fisher tiger had it maybe but i doubt it what about bro from the revolutionaries you don't think he's got it hack nah hey you know your name can't be hack with conqueror's hockey um i would say the most likely fishman that we'll see that has conqueror's hockey will be somebody from the void century or somebody from the ancient timeline i don't think anybody in the current era has it i don't think anybody in the current era has it i don't think anybody in the current era has it which is unfortunate maybe maybe shiro hoshi but i i don't think so i was like she is technically the strongest fishman that with that we know of well here's a here's a question do you think that uh having the voice of all things correlates to being a conqueror i've always associated out of the observation like advanced that's a good advanced observation i think in my opinion yeah i don't know i can't see it with jim bay i feel like we would have seen something already from him he's what 50 years old maybe but you never know some late bloomers in one piece world man and the only reason why i can't um i can't give a conqueror's hockey to the to the other guy you just mentioned just now uh is he he he hasn't shown any will for it like there's there's been no will out of a strong-willed people in the fisherman island except for jim bay really like there's been a lot of people that have been had had heavy motivation for sure but like i don't know i unless shiro hoshi has it which wouldn't make any sense to me and we can't we can't say that everybody that has the voice of all things has conqueror's hockey because uh momo momo mosuke does not have conqueror's hockey but he definitely has the voice of all things that's fair that's valid yeah i don't i don't see conqueror's hockey for jim bay man i'm sorry i just don't i don't either but i just want a fishman to get you know i wanted to get the like some kind of dub i mean it'd be cool it would be cool yeah i wouldn't be mad if jim bay got conquerors i would be the only way i could see people being mad at it would be if he got it before sanji did and like i don't even know i mean i know i've said sanji is gonna get conqueror's hockey and i would love to see it but like even if he does you know like it's it's not gonna be anywhere near like what zoro luffy has yeah i think i've said in the past on call-ins and on the pot itself that if sanji was to get conqueror's hockey the gap would be where he's not a sky splitter and then like zoro and luffy are but i think the only person sanji would ever be capable of splitting the sky with would probably be zoro i know other people have said that sky splitting doesn't indicate strength or at least in the way that i believe it does but i don't know i feel like that's a way that you can have that gap and still give sanji conqueror's hockey but i feel like oda is gonna try and wait as long as he can within the story to give sanji conqueror's hockey because once he does that it's pretty much a clear determined like it's clearly determined at that point that sanji is number three or possibly number four and i actually wonder sometimes if oda is like conscious of that like he might lose fans by making that clear difference but that's just that's just me that's just me spitballing into trying to chilling man i'm tired as all hell i know larry be killing me when i say that on stream but i am tired i ate mad chipotle though it wasn't because of work i just stuffed myself with chipotle bro i went in bro i went in that hard give you the itis thanks well all right all right uh i guess i'll get right into it then so mine is my guess my little title card gantz versus berserk so potential spoilers for either of these two topics i've read six total pages of berserk but by all means oh okay larry can hold it down larry can hold it down bro so basically i guess it's i guess question or a take what was harder for you to read larry is this for you bro if i am the answer on my behalf i would say gantz is harder to read than berserk okay i i mean for me i think it's personally berserk i feel like the question comes down to because both are extremely difficult reads i feel like gantz is just more personal and like a more realistic pain than berserk i guess i think the personal i think maybe realistic's a good word to use but i think the personal has to apply to berserk i feel like the moments in berserk like it's to your characters it's your main character it's your main character it's your main character it's your main characters it's like it hurts it's like oh it's like i guess how i kind of described it is that i maybe took more frequent breaks when watching like or when reading gantz but the i took longer breaks when reading like berserk because like the moments in berserk like i think really stick with you and so the reason i kind of brought up this question is that y'all have talked about gantz and how insane of a read it is but i think if you are i think if you have read i do think you could handle something like gantz because i think gantz is a good read in terms of the psychological thriller aspect so i think i have to disagree and it's only because of this one perspective that i have um for anybody that's like reading the bible or happens to have any type of knowledge about the bible you start to notice that berserk is just sin at its highest forms and it never diverts from sin and it it technically dives into like causality as well which inherently they give a beginning to all the evils that happened within berserk and then there's like the astral plane and other things of that nature so you're just witnessing the black tape that she sweet was watching during yuyu haka show all right with gantz with gantz you're looking at sci-fi but there is no sin within gantz really being uh being like amplified what you're seeing is you're seeing random god challenging thought-provoking chaos where everybody is not only out for themselves but even other species from other planets are technically using humans as like pastry dishes and food and the world government itself is somehow deciding how we should fight against these incoming threats while also taking advantage of the population itself and then it challenges death and and reincarnation and if it's even real it it completely throws out the physics of spirituality and and causality and all like sin itself it just like he went so far as to even depict god on a certain level and then you you you got to hear god speak you know what i'm saying you don't really get that with berserk and i think that's the big difference for me where berserk was crazy there's there's so much evil in berserk but when i saw specific parts of gantz it completely shut me down to the point i was like is this healthy to be reading that's that's just my experience you know the the one i think i quit it twice gantz i had to stop reading it twice and one of the moments was basically humans upside down like pigs with you know uh i don't want to say exactly the detail of what was happening during that scene but sebastian knows and it's one of the most horrific scenes i think i've ever seen in anything i've never seen something as graphic as that so it was bad bro for me that's a completely fair point i guess the written the main reason why i still would say i lean toward berserk being a tougher read is because of like the sci-fi aspects of gantz is that like at the end of the day gantz is so much more silly than berserk we got like this panda that's just hanging out we got like we got like an onion man walking around like all the character designs are so much more interesting than they are scary and we got like this little baby and like the beard man doing this big pose charge with their half their body and like so you just get these more sillier moments in gantz that make it i think an easier read but i do i mean the psychological horror aspect of gantz i do think is much worse than berserk but the moments in berserk i think the reason they stick with me is because of the emotional aspects to it where it's like the things are happening to like your main characters and all this and the people you've been following whereas to gantz like you see these depictions of horror to background characters or characters you haven't seen before and so it's a bit easier to turn the page in my aspect or in my opinion no i agree that's why that's why it happens potentially Pudding and the pony glyphs like they're still gonna get to him um I actually do think this is a fair question I do think there just are other avenues to get to pony glyph readings now like for a long time it was just Robin right you can only lean on Robin now technically Tsukiyaki can read pony glyphs, Vegapunk can read pony glyphs this third eye tribe person like people can read pony glyphs people theorize that Killer is even a three eyed tribe person because we've never seen his forehead so it's like now that we have all these additional avenues to potentially read the pony glyphs um I'd like to just see them target those other avenues more and maybe we're already seeing that with somebody like Blackbeard going after Pudding um again there's a whole Vegapunk out there or at least multiple Vegapunks out there that could potentially do it um so it's really just a matter of you gathering that additional resource or at least that knowledge that these other people can do it for you like Big Mom had and then going after it so I don't necessarily think like they all need to have one to even the playing field I just need it to be a focal point where it's like hey how are we gonna read them like there needs to be a conversation you can't just say oh I want the one piece and you know you need the pony glyphs but you don't have any way of reading it I've always thought view I don't like that it was all solely Robin for so long you know yeah I like the I like how little readers there are it kind of like puts out a race for other people that are pirates and there's this massive pirate age you know like if the pirate age didn't exist then the readers probably wouldn't be able to read it probably wouldn't be needed because nobody would be searching for the one piece but now that we know that this is needed and there's so little of them it makes it like readers are like pony glyphs in a way if that makes sense also I would really love if there was like a devil fruit that was introduced where this person could not only read write or learn any language but they could also just like figure out past languages I don't know how Oda hasn't done that yet especially when he's so deep into like cultures mixing together and learning about new cultures so like a translator like devil fruit yeah okay like an inscribe a transcriber devil fruit like a language language fruit something like that yeah I feel like that would be so hard because not only that there would always be someone that's going to have that devil fruit so we never run out of readers it just makes them that much more important you know moving forward so I think that would be really cool okay and then I guess my last question this would be would you rather would you rather the pony glyphs be like be able to be read from the readers viewpoint but like obviously not in English or Japanese maybe like another language that you could search upon your own or would you rather hockey always be shown to no more invisible hockey like with big mom potentially kid or like maybe like more indications of hockey being used because I guess like the biggest hockey like questions we have is is like shanks is wifi killer hockey like it would is that a combination of like conquers and observation or is like joy boys like conquers hockey blast is it like he did is it just conquers hockey or did he put like armament in it too so like I guess which one would you rather be like clear like no second guessing interpretations of hockey being shown in the manga and in the show or the pony glyphs being able to be read by us the viewers because um I don't know if you guys played pokemon but like in the third generation to unlock the the reggie's like reggie eyes reggie rock reggie steel you kind of had they they added like a thing in the games it's like braille so if you like read the thing you could understand a little bit of braille and then that could help you like get them so it got me thinking like what if there was like a like a how to like read pony glyph writings from oda and like a sbs or like a natural manga like book so I feel like that could be cool but I'm one trillion percent going with hockey indicators like without a without a doubt like that could be a dope thing that you're saying as a secondary piece into the series but if we had absolutely clear this this color coordinates to this hockey usage this this person's using this type of hockey in this attack we would end a lot of debating or at least we'd have a much clearer understanding of what's happening in every single instance so that we can truly gauge how strong some people are and how weak some people are so a lot of discourse on power around one piece and power scaling is because a lot of it is up to your own interpretation of what's happening on the panel if we had very clear hockey indicators like this like you're suggesting maybe it would take away from some of the nuance of the show and some of the like intrigue that people have in the show but it would just save us so much time and annoying conversations but you don't think that's like the fun part about like power scaling their heavenly tribute that you know they had some things happen to them but they didn't have the whole country destroyed marcus mars's um demon form is a yokai hang on i have this pulled up it's a yokai japanese demon it's sumare and yeah it's sumare and he is known for bringing about plagues or famine now this is still a plague or a famine to a country that produces musical instruments whenever you take away their ability to create musical instruments it's not directly affecting crops but it's affecting their ability to pay certain things i can't figure out how to connect it but i really think that music is bigger than we think in one piece and that emu wanted that island specifically taken out because of their musical influence Brooke singing Bink's Sake on the island, and then other songs and stuff, but I think songs have a bigger importance in one piece, and Bink's Sake will end up being more important than we know right now. Sorry, do y'all mess with that, or do y'all think it has nothing to do with the music, and it's just a coincidence that a Gorosei and a Holy Knight popped up? I can't remember exactly where. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He says it's from Kamigata. And they got wiped out? Yeah, they got wiped out. So I think that there is some type of connection, because if there was a country nearby that was wiped out, and it happened to be this country, Kamigata, then I mean, I don't know. And that means they also specialize in some type of music. And then we also have the point out from NYC Anime Nerd from Chapter 501, where it was that guy who specialized in musical instruments and music itself. Oh, dude. And he was from Toroa Kingdom, and that kingdom was also in the West Blue. So if they were looking to take out musical islands, the question is why? Why would they do something like that? What is the connection here? And maybe the connection is to Joy Boy. Maybe it's suppressing music overall, not to create another beat that can combat maybe Emu's music, because we know Emu, when he arrived, the houses were singing, and he had his own music happening. So maybe there's something like Oda's trying to tell us with sound itself and resonating with soul or anything that pertains to Brooke as well, which is why he's the one that's telling this story from the past. There definitely could be a connection, bro. And if there's anything that points to us actually having something of significance to music, it's Oda's experiment with Red Film. You know, Film Red. Oh, yeah. Uta. Me and a friend talked about maybe they were doing some top musical type stuff, but I don't know that it's that extreme. It could be, bro. It could be. I don't know. We don't know. I think that, you know what it is? I always thought that there was like many ancient weapons within one piece. I would think like Zunisha is like a mini weapon, you know? Like there's just a couple things, I think, in the world that are just mini weapons. And I think that maybe something with music probably is one of them as well. It's not an ancient weapon where it's like undeniably unbeatable. But maybe it is something of that causes such destruction that you have to somehow be like, all right, we, like it could be anything now, you know? It's like playing Elden Ring. You have all these mini bosses and then you actually have the real bosses. It's just so weird that they would target Asperia, a seemingly nothing country that only has music, when music has become more and more important, like the drums of liberation, like you said, with Emu, with the dun-dun-dun-dun, whenever he's coming out and the trees in the buildings are talking. Asperia might have been the forefront country for all these other countries, you know? Like they could have been the record label. Meanwhile, everybody else is like the artist. So I could imagine like within the West Blue, there was many kingdoms, like an archipelago of them. And Asperia happened to be the forefront. Like Japan happens to be the main, you know, country, but then they have like a whole bunch of other islands that surrounds them that are also Japanese. Yeah. So I could have pictured it's like something like that. I could too. And the fact that the other islands had their own songs and dialects would further add to that, you know, that it transformed a little bit, but they were still kind of doing the same thing. I just want to see an island where like people are crumping. It does make you think though, is Brooke getting all these other songs from his position as a battle convoy? Like is he traveling to these other nations and picking up their music? Probably. Seemingly Asperia exports more musical instruments than anybody. So it would make sense that he would lead the, export convoy. The battle convoy would also kind of help the exports, make sure that they don't get anything stolen. Yeah. I'm going to keep it a buck. I think I just came out with the answer. Talk to us. What is it? I think the reason the world government has been trying to look for musical countries is the same way they were looking for people with pony glyphs and trying to suppress information. So it doesn't learn about the ancient history. So I think they were going from island to island searching for people that were capable of singing Bink Sake. I get what you're saying. What's a better medium than a pony glyph is a song because it spreads from person to person. Right. So they probably ran into Asperia thinking like it came from there, but then it probably moved over to Koroa kingdom. Yeah. And Koroa kingdom is actually the place where the Rombar pirates were found, where Brooke probably goes. And all of a sudden he learns Bink Sake. And that's where like the Bink Sake song ends up spreading out to the entire world. So they basically ran into the wrong place. Yeah. I hadn't tried connecting islands to that just yet. But I like that a lot. I like the idea. I like the idea of them targeting Asperia because they're trying to suppress the sound of music as corny as that is. But like you were just talking about, you can spread a song. They're already, look at Gunko right now in the current timeline. She still resonates with Brooke's music even now. Yeah. Like it feeds something into her soul. Like I can see them having like, hey, we got to stuff that out. This kingdom is like getting too potentially powerful if they're exporting music and generating. Music and creating this like sound. We don't want the drums of liberation coming back. We got to erase all music based kingdoms. So. Yeah. But I just wanted to know your thoughts on that. honest i haven't thought much about the big ball pirates in recent times any new thoughts or like you still stand by your statement seb because you i think you were the one who was pushing that uh category is going to go to cross kill yeah i saw i believe my my take was that it was possible i could see him sacrificing a little bit of pride to work to get his sister back because right now she's the one who's going to be the one who's going to be the one who's going she's in the hands of black beard um my stance hasn't changed so i guess i'll say that it hasn't changed on that whether or not that is what happens who knows uh as far as like the story itself i kind of like blend two lines of thinking into one where it's like cross kill needs more members katakuri needs to save his sister this could be a way to solve both of those problems in one um a lot of my cross guild a lot of my cross guild like adding bodies stuff leads into that same line of thinking like it has to be mutually beneficial like a mutually beneficial um agreement so temporary alliance join cross guild bunny year um save your sister uh similar to some other people i mentioned like judge and the neo-mads joining cross guild so they can have like a the uh the banner of a yanko you know to kind of do the things that they were trying to do before i don't know i know larry at the intimately disagreed with the left the big mom pirates did not leave the middle king there's no way that's right what no not during this fight absolutely not could you imagine your crew just dipping on you in the middle of your big fight imagine imagine it's like all right yo she got it couldn't be the revs i think it was after the fights were completely over overall that's when they tell us like oh they ended up leaving i don't remember them telling us anything about them leaving yeah you don't know i didn't want to find it i'll find it for you i did have a second one that we could talk about that because i didn't want to i didn't really have this as my main thing just kind of to emphasize the you know where things could go for because i wanted to hop into this one which was i memed on your last time said when i came in i was like i can't but we got emu moving before dragon and akainu uh-huh just true right but i really started like we've all been memeing about it because it's funny but like i think i really started thinking about the lore implication why would oda straight up show us emu before we've seen anything from dragon we haven't seen anything on the screen from of akainu since really like the the um marine forward war and i guess if you want to count the anime stuff with him dealing with kuma you could but your question well my question is what do you think there actually might be a story reason why like obviously there's a story but what do you think the story reason might be for akainu and dragon still being sidelined when emu the great emu is now on screen in full display um their time hasn't come yet in the story man i like you how do i say this i don't i've well i know it it does work in the shonen trope to show the biggest bads last right and technically emu's reveal would indicate that he's the biggest of the bads right but to me the way oda's always operated it's just when it's your time it's your time like there was a time where akainu was the big bad and he got to kill ace and he got to be the most terrorizing figure on the on the in the arc and then that time went away and his time will return again or not same thing with like magellan right um in terms of like dragon to me i've almost always took dragon to be one of the people that would be like the leading force behind the final wars army like luffy would obviously be taking the biggest center stage in terms of like who gets stuff done but he needs an entire army behind him to take out the world government i always thought dragon would be reserved to kind of lead that army in the similar way but i don't think he's going to be able to do that i don't think he's going to be similar way that like Whitebeard led the war at Marine Ford and then Luffy kind of took center stage. Maybe not exactly in those terms, but in that light. So like, I know we troll Dragon all the time, but him doing stuff before that final war is ready to start happening was always going to be a little more hard pressed. In terms of a Kainu, I think it's a situation where Oda's under the belief that he's done enough with him as a character for us to still be intrigued, where he can still save him for maybe a showdown with Dragon, or maybe he has to make an actual pivotal decision in terms of where the Marines go. We've got some more nuanced characterization from a Kainu in recent times, him apologizing to Kazaru, him feeling bad, seemingly feeling bad for Kuma, or at least resonating with him as far as not being in full control of his destiny. You know, just minor stuff like that, him barking back at the Gorosei we're starting to see some differences in opinion between him and the Gorosei come to light. He's arguing with them. So will there come a time where he needs to make a decision? Like he was one of those people on the page of 12 people on the panels. Will he have to make a decision about the Marines versus the world government when things come to light, when things come to a head? So I think Oda's just kind of saving those two as the primary leaders of the factions that they lead for. But I think Oda's just saving them for later. Kind of my guy, man. He took Ace out. I love him forever for that. Kind of can do no wrong. I think I need to understand, bro. I wouldn't have the affection for this series that I do if Ace was still alive. If Ace was still alive, that's so insane. I can explain the reason, so I get where you're coming from. But that sounds wild on the surface. You know what I'm saying? Listen, man. Wow. Is what it is. Yeah, I think that's the story implication. He's just saving them for the bigger, world-changing decisions that they're going to have to make in the coming chapters. against this person this person that person that person it's like Conqueror's Hockey is always the fighting factor and I feel like in the case of who we're talking about Kidd shows like slightly more feats and destructive power than like we've ever seen Marco flames aren't even hot so like what you I mean I don't want to be the dead horse but to reiterate a conversation it was like what can Marco really do to Kidd that had like I just want from y'all point of view that had y'all so stuck on like okay Marco is going to win this and we're not going to bring up the fact that Kidd has Conqueror's Hockey in this argument well one Sir, I said Kidd wins. Two, you just told me Marco wins. Right, right, right. So I'm going to need you to answer that for me because they didn't answer it yesterday either. But beyond that, in terms of the Conqueror's Hockey element, I would say the issue that people have is that Kidd isn't infusing Conqueror's Hockey in his attacks seemingly, right? Granted, there's no true way to know that, I guess, outside of whether or not Oda tells you. I don't think he is. I don't think most people think he is. So it's like his Conqueror's Hockey is used to add endurance to his willpower. He's just not going to go down easily. He'll keep getting back up and getting back up and getting back up from the things because he's a Conqueror. He refuses to back down and refuses to give up. So to me, it's not so much a, oh, like, how come we're not bringing up the fact that Kidd has Conqueror's Hockey? It's more so Kidd isn't utilizing it for it to be a real factor in fights like this outside of just him continuing to fight, if that makes sense. So how does Boa use her Conqueror's Hockey? Because we've had conversations before. Oh, you tell me, bro. You tell me because I don't know. They act like she can use it, bro. Because in the gauntlet y'all had, y'all recently had a gauntlet where y'all had Boa over Doflamingo. And I didn't understand why. Talk to Larry, bro. That's not how it came out originally. What has Boa done to show? Larry corrected the gauntlet structure. I'm like, and then if we're going to do a 1v1, let's just do a Boa versus Dofie. Like, she hasn't even, I don't even, I can't even name somebody to the caliber of like, Boa versus Dofie or Dofie versus Amigo to even compare. Like, what does Boa do at Drosser, just Drosser? We take out Dofie and put Boa. Well, does the fight even go that long? In a, in a matchup situation, it's a little different, right? Dofie has more wide scale impact, environmental impact with his attacks, his abilities. Boa has more one hitter quitter. If I catch you, the fight's over. So it's just kind of, it's a little different as to how they scale. In terms of threat level to a large nation versus 1v1 fighting. Like that's just true. Like it, it just is. Yeah, I get that. I get that. Well, if we're talking 1v1, I think Doflamingo washes Boa. Like, like mid diff, nowhere near high. Cause, cause I mean, often, you know, cause we like, you know, I remember they were saying like, you know, oh, her devil fruit hack. Well, I feel like he wears, okay. He has like almost, we can like almost say he wears like permanent shades. If we look it up, Boa's fruit won't work through his shades. That's just number one. That was like the number one thing. I thought that's not true. That is a fact. Why would the fruit not work? Her, her, her, um, her fruit doesn't do, um, it has to be direct contact. It doesn't work through planes, glass, uh, be quiet Coco. Um, um, I'm not reading it right now, but these, these is facts. You can look this up. Her fruit doesn't, it has to be a direct contact. So I feel like with the, the shades being a. Natural thing. He wears this right there was, that's not direct contact. Hold on, hold on. Well, that's what, according to what I looked up, that is what was iterated to me that, that it, it doesn't work through planes. It doesn't work through glass. It has to be a direct contact on top of the fact that it's easily like, um, it's easily, uh, what's the word I want to say? Uh, broken because we even seen, uh, I can't think of his name right now, but the guy that stabs herself. When he got caught under, yeah, he, when he, he stabbed itself and broke himself free of it. So it's, it, and that, that, that's just one way to, to, to do away with it. If you're any type of a Luffy type person, you know, he can, he, he, you know, he doesn't think less. So he's not even looking at her seeing that on top of, I feel like Doflamingo, the type of person he is mentality. He looked at his father, somebody he's posted, beloved and cherished and literally shot this man. I don't, I don't got him being, uh, not so, I don't know. I, it was, like I said, that, that, that guy was just crazy. Okay. I mean, listen, Brad, I agree that I think Doflamingo is stronger than Boa. I'm not mad at you for that, but you, if you're going to try and tell me her ability won't work on him because he's wearing glasses, you missing it. You're missing me there, bro. In terms of whether he would stab himself. Sure. Maybe, you know, he has, he has the string. He could stab himself with that. I don't know that that's an effective counter to Boa's ability. I wouldn't want to be stabbing myself to prevent myself from turning to stone. That's not, that's not the word. Better than turning to stone though, I guess. Right. Essentially. Now, whether she can break out of his parasite of technique. She is a conqueror and this is where the conqueror's hockey stuff goes into the play. Um, whether or not you think she can utilize it in her actual fighting style. It comes down to how you view Boa, you know? So. All right. Are we, are we done with the nonsense? Here we go. All right. Just so we can get over the kid factor before we move into the Boa Hancock, uh, conversation. Right. We have on paper, right, kid looking at Luffy perform red rock on Kaido and hurting him. Right. And this is the question after Luffy landed and Kaido was getting up. He asks not only just Zoro and killer and law, he questions himself. He says, what was that hockey just now? You can hurt Kaido with physical blows. So when we're talking about hockey and how to use it and utilize it, he doesn't do that. So if conquerors hockey is something that not nobody really has, he's not utilizing that either. Right. I can say he's putting it into some of his attacks, but that's not necessarily true either because he's very devil fruit dependent. So people who are usually devil fruit dependent, like ACE, they don't tend to focus towards hockey at all. And that's why ACE got beat by Blackbeard. So this is the reason why we don't mention kids conquerors hockey. It's literally him and Nami both having conquerors hockey would be the same type of conquerors hockey utilization. Right. It's literally nothing happening because it's not being used. So it's not liable to be used in an argument. The best thing you can say about him having conquerors hockey is that he's unwilling to be put down off of normal attacks because he's just going to get back up. So that's just a trait that anybody with conquerors hockey has such as like Don Chin Zhao. So we don't mention it because it's not liable to be effective in a fight unless somebody just needs to keep putting him down. And that's completely possible. Okay. Like Don Chin Zhao get put down. So that's why conquerors hockey is not a factor in that argument to for Boa Hancock. This is where she utilizes her conquerors hockey, unlike kid. She's been stated even by her sisters that when Luffy admitted his conquerors hockey blast in the stadium full of Amazon Lily women, they were like, Oh my God, Hancock is the only person I've ever known who could use that hockey. And then they mentioned that man is a natural born King. And even Boa is like, yo, he can use it like me, which shows that she has some type of efficiency using this. She's proficient at using this. And that's kind of like the basic conquerors hockey tree when people do it on accident is that they release it and it knocks people out. That's kind of like the beginning of conquerors hockey. All right. Two. Yeah. I'll be talking. She really ain't that great because you haven't seen her move. and you don't know what else she could do strength-wise, but just knowing she could utilize Conqueror's Haki, she also has her Devil Fruit, which has been shown by a Yonko by the name of Blackbeard who could take away Devil Fruit abilities and does have the strongest Gora Gora Paramecia ability in the game, right? He said he had to sneak her. He said that he couldn't take his hand off of her because he'd be turned to stone. I mean, how much more evidence do you need? Do we need another Yonko that could say that to her? Because y'all put Blackbeard at a very high spot, right? So you can't argue with that. He snuck her. He snuck her in the manga, and I've been said that he snuck her in the manga. He confirmed it. He says it. So if we're going to go by facts, then we need to go by facts, right? So this is why he's hot. She's higher than Doflamingo. Because with Doflamingo, I don't think Blackbeard would try to sneak him. But that's more of a hax than an overall power to me. And that's like, what evidence do you have to say that Blackbeard, he sneaks everybody else? Maybe whatnot. You know he says it directly to her face, though. No, but again, Larry, that's more of an overall hax. Her hax is superior to Doflamingo's hax. It's a one-hitter-quitter where it would end his life. Like, he would be done. He wasn't willing to take that risk. Her hax is also influenced by her conqueror's hockey, too. Because like Doflamingo, who can sort of infuse it into his awakening, I should assume that Boa Hancock could do it with hers. And if her ability is stronger than his, off-rip. Well, hold on. Those are a lot of assumptions you're making right now. I'm sounding like we're just assuming a lot of this. Yeah, I think that Boa's ability is. uh. lesser than the string-string fruit. No, no, no. What we're saying, you're assuming she can infuse conqueror's hockey into her devil fruit, etc., etc. Like. That's. If we're arguing narrative, I think so. I think so, yes. I'm just saying that they're assumptions. You're not willing to make those assumptions with other people, though. What I'm saying is, even if you wanted to assume that Kid can do it, right? Right. He doesn't purposely do it. He doesn't utilize it with purpose. He's doing it maybe on accident. And even then, it's shown to not be that strong at all. Like, you can see that there's no infusion really in it, where with Katakuri, you could kind of assume that there's some infusion into it. Why? Because he also utilized a conqueror's hockey blast against Luffy. He also was infusing hockey into his awakening. We've seen that with. With Doflamingo, who can also utilize that conqueror's hockey blast on purpose. And then he could also infuse hockey into his awakening. So if I'm going to assume that these two people can do it, and Boa Hancock is supposed to be relevant to them, or if not stronger than Dofi, then I should assume that she's capable of doing that too, because she's also been stated to use that same conqueror's hockey blast. And she understands it. I mean, that's enough evidence for me through multiple people, right? Where Kid. He's never been able to utilize it. Ever. And if Boa has a better devil fruit than Dofi, I'm going to assume it's going to be harder to beat Boa. Why? Because her devil fruit made a Yonko hope that he couldn't take her hand off of her, or he would get bodied when he has a devil fruit that could take away her abilities. I mean, enough said, right? That's checkmate. I might can give you that. It is like a weird situation there with the Blackbeard thing. Blackbeard is scary, bro. Oh, he's scary. He is, bro. Like, I'm not going to act like that's not the case. But I'm not going to say what you're saying isn't plausible. I'm saying I would factor more in how Blackbeard is as a person than I would factoring in Boa's overall strength. But maybe that's me. And it's so funny because, one, the reason why Blackbeard found the opportunity to take her devil fruit is because of what was happening around the world. But out of all the things he could have done, he said, I want to go for that. That's one of the most important devil fruits right there. And then when he sneaks her, and then Boa's like, yo, I'll let you go if you let me and my people go, you know? And Rayleigh pulls up afterwards. He says before Rayleigh pulls up, no, you're lying. I let you go. And you'll turn us, and us is very bold in the manga, us to stone. So he wasn't saying just him. He was saying the rest of his crew, too. That's how powerful her devil fruit is. Well, hold on. The crew, the only people in the crew that mattered at that point were already turned to stone. Yeah, but it's everybody else, too. The Marines that were there as well. Anybody that was her opposition, they were all getting turned to stone. Wasn't Blackbeard in front of her, though? No, but he was behind her. He already had her yoked up by that point. And then he stuck her in. Yeah. And the thing is, too, it was even with Kobe, who's, I'm not going to sit here and say Kobe's like one of the best, but it does look like Kobe does specialize in observation hockey, but he was able to catch her arrows. So it does show that he has some speed feet, too. And she outsped him basically no diff. Like he wasn't even able to react to her. like other podcasts and I think that's generally why we've been so successful because you know like in person talking is just so much better than like through online but the convenience the the uh the variables that we can now like instill into the pod is so much more and we're not going to be limited on time we're going to be able to pull up pictures when we want we could do like our own soundboard we are able to accept super chats and talk way longer about them than we wanted to before and it's just very much easier on us because the pod has moved away it used to take us like I would uh this is less of like a question more of just an observation that I've been having of the pod and the debates that go on with like the power scaling type stuff I feel like there's too much like quote-unquote on paper stuff going on where it's like you need to have a certain stat sheet like you need to have conquerors or you need to have a certain utilization of conquerors or you need to have just something and then if you don't have that thing you just automatically you it's just done despite the actual feats that are on the panels my I think my greatest example probably I know Larry's probably not gonna like it is kid where it's just like no matter how much we could talk about his weak hockey no matter how much we could talk about how his hacks isn't really all that with people saying like he could just make big metal arms it's just giant metal bowls whatever it is that's being said and I understand what's being said but I don't think it's going to be said I it makes sense like on paper kid is supposed to be pretty weak if we're being honest but in practice like on panel what Oda's writing for us is kid overpowering big mom in certain instances where law's not even involved so it's like okay he's weak on paper but the if the feats don't match up with what's on paper I just I have to put people at a certain level like it it's sort of like Marco Marco's got very to my knowledge weak hockey he hasn't shown anything his like his hockey is negligible if I were to be honest however for some reason in the manga on panel he's fighting both king and queen and getting the upper hand he's able to like stall big mom for a little bit in marine ford war he's able to stall admirals for a little bit and even if this is just like feats that we want to talk about he's able to like stall admirals for a downplay or feats that we don't think are too impressive it's still this thing of like okay he doesn't have impressive hockey and he's still doing all these things with top tiers so to me it's like there's just certain downplay that happens when you're focusing too much on what's going on like if you just list it off everything they can do instead of like just reading the the arcs themselves and using what you're seeing and coming to that conclusion from what you're seeing instead of like the the list because like you could do that with a bunch of characters like blackbeard loki just to name two of them that I'm thinking of off the top of my head where you could probably do that with but there's just there's outliers like it's like that whole thing with like rayleigh admitting he couldn't be blackbeard no matter how you view that whether you're someone who believes that it was equal because of blackbeard's actions or whether it was rayleigh's actions or whether it was blackbeard's actions or whether it was blackbeard's actions or whether it was rayleigh just fully admitting he just couldn't be blackbeard and that's the case the the whole idea for me was that oda was telling you you don't need to have like like crazy conquerors hockey to beat someone like a rayleigh even in his old age you don't like there's certain matchups and certain like one piece fights are more like chess than it would be checkers or like a fighting game like there's certain things you can do and things you could to work around the the advantages that some people have versus you and others and it could go both ways obviously but that that's just my rant I think that in order to see one piece power scaling it's really difficult because oda's pretty inconsistent with it sometimes but in order to truly like get a good grasp on it it you really do just have to go based off of what you're seeing and not based off of what potentially these people can't do because if you gave me kid versus big mom for like even five minutes and you told me that before wano I tell you he gets like one or two shot I tell you he's actually just not going to survive at all not going to last not going to damage her but he lasted he damaged her like like even with law's help I get it but I just I don't know how we go from what's on paper and we go off that
